"Index" of my spicyhoney ideas and AUs, in no particular order
16-20/???
✮ Band
The first chapter has been sitting in my wip folder for years lmao. Basically, after surfacing, Edge unexpectedly winds up the singer/rhythm guitarist for an underground (lol) rock band. No one knows and he tries to keep it that way, until one of his friend group unknowingly gets recommended to see a show and invites a bunch of their mutual friends. Edge is also invited of course and is mortified, but ultimately decides to go on anyway.
Stretch in particular is stunned, even though they'd never really gotten along he is very much attracted to Edge and seeing that show certainly didn't help.
Probably the biggest reason I never finished it is because I couldn't ever really think of much of a cohesive story beyond Stretch and Edge bonding over music and falling for each other. Which is like. Fine but also kind of boring lol
-
✮ Code Blue
Another very old one that I think I've already posted a more full summary of here elsewhere. So I'll keep it brief. Edge was a lab experiment found in the secret labs of his underground after all the various undergrounds surface. He has a "vampire mutation" on top of just not really knowing how to be a monster since he grew up entirely isolated in an abandoned cage basically.
Blue is a nurse with a rehabilitation hospital that US Toriel runs, and asks specifically for his help rehabilitating Edge before he’s declared too dangerous and put down like an animal.
Of course it works and has a happy ending where Stretch helps him acclimate once he’s made enough progress to be released under Blue's supervision. Of course they fall in love, and it's complicated at times, but sooo worth it.
-
✮ Vesselfell
Again, another older one. Shortly after its conception, I of course thought up a spicyhoney variant.
At a point earlier in VF's timeline, before the others know the truth, an unexpected "glitch" throws the UT and US brothers in VF. Stretch and Edge get along horribly at first, yet that doesn't stop Stretch from jumping headfirst into one of Edge's "episodes" to try and help him.
Aside from Flowey, Stretch becomes the first person to know the truth about Edge and resolves to help him gain some measure of control.
Takes place in a Variable Ending setting where eventually US, UT, and VF wind up sharing a surface and Edge and Stretch get married and Stretch works from home while Edge goes of Voiding it up in the multiverse helping people, and it's mostly just domestic fluff aside from the occasional insane cryptid/body horror/existential drama bouts <3
-
✮ "Bad Brother" Swap
I might have the note for this one somewhere but now that the notes app search doesn't work it might take a while to find. But! Basically, US is a bad brother au.
UT, SF, and UF have already met, and manage to connect to a new universe. I don't actually remember how they get from point a to point b but they find out quickly about the way the Sans from US treats his brother. Shade, this specific UF Papyrus, is the one who actually retrieves the battered US Papyrus while some of the others go after the Sans in retaliation.
Afterwards, Shade basically decides this pathetic little thing is his and tries his best to help Honey, the US Papyrus, heal and recover.
Their characterizations differ a bit from my usual Edge and Stretch, hence the different nicknames. Shade is very...cold. He seems almost mechanical. Efficient and barely emotes, but he’s also very quiet and blunt generally. Aside from what he has to do as captain of the guard, he’s actually a deceitfully gentle giant (he’s also like a ft taller than Edge. Very Big).
Honey on the other hand is...quiet. Anxious and a bit skittish. More than anything his self image is what took a beating, feeling useless, worthless, and utterly incapable. He’s suspicious of Shade's motives initially, but too scared to really stop him. Luckily, it gets sorted out pretty soon in when he finally manages to ask and Shade bluntly tells him that he just sort of. Claimed him as his problem? He’s so pathetic and weak but he’s also kind and smells nice. So yeah. Also weirds him out seeing any version of himself so helpless so he wants to help him regain a stronger sense of self again.
Of course they fall in love super fast after that point, and eventually surface together and it's very nice and good 👍
-
✮ Reincarnation
This one is a looser sort of idea. It's one I've tossed around weakly a few times, rotated different scenarios, ones where Edge always remembers but Stretch doesn't, ones where that's vice versa, ones where they both know, ones where they used to be celestial gods who gave that up to be mortals who keep getting reincarnated and keep finding each other in ever life.
The most recent one was VF specifically, as Void's essentially immortal, so in that idea, Stretch keeps getting reincarnated across the MV and Void seeks him out every time he can. Sometimes Stretch remembers, other times he doesn't. And since he’s born into new AUs, it can vary like crazy what kind of world he’s in or even what kind of monster he is (though he’s always a Papyrus).

Hii!! Can i make a request? I really loved your shimizu & yachi threesome!! Can i ask for a tribbing/scissoring follow up for it?
Another Lesson [Kiyoko × Reader × Yachi]
Yes hello anon I love you please always ask me for more wlw content.
This is a continuation of this story I wrote for my Kinktober prompt list.
Pairing: Kiyoko × Reader, Yachi × Reader, Kiyoko × Yachi
Summary: Kiyoko and you teach Yachi a few more things about the beauty of gals being pals. She is an eager learner.
Tags: Threesome, F/F/F, Kiyoko and Reader are in a steady relationship and Yachi joins in, Heavy Make-Out Sessions, Fingering, Tribbing, Scissoring, Sex Toys, Spit, Squirting
Yachi was adorable really. When [Name] and Kiyoko had invited her for an arts and crafts night, she had been ecstatic. They almost felt bad for using it as an excuse to indulge her again.
Sex with Yachi had been pleasurable for the three of them and [Name] felt oddly excited whenever she thought about the petite blonde joining them again. There was something about the way she could show Kiyoko's flushed face off, eyes red from crying and sobbing, mouth agape, drove running down looking absolutely fucked. Their first time with Yachi had been fairly vanilla, easing her into the idea that yes, two women could be together as well, a concept Yachi had been aware of and fantasized alone in her dark dorm room, desperately humping against the pillow for friction.
But [Name] wanted more. She wanted to show Yachi more. As much as she wanted to know. As much as she wanted to indulge them. As much as they wanted to induldge her.
The evening started off in a decent manner. [Name] knew about Yachi's love for scrapbooks and suggested it as an activity they could partake in over at her and Kiyoko's shared apartment. Such an innocent activity really. Yachi was nervous regardless, as if she was already anticipating something, hoping for something. She had been over at their place before. Kiyoko had been one of her best friends since high school and [Name] was someone she felt at ease with. The source for her anxiety was more so the fact that the last time she had been over they had done... it.
"Relax", Kiyoko murmured and rested a hand on Yachi's shoulder in a comforting manner before sliding down on the floor next to her, putting the plate of tea down on the table cluttered with various colorful pieces of paper, scissors and glue.
Yachi shuddered at the contact and thanked her upperclassman. [Name] returned as well, carrying a stack of pretty looking pieces of leftover fabric. The blonde knee that the taller girl liked to sew in her free time but was delighted all the same that she wanted to share something important to her with Yachi as well.
Yachi's instructions were easy to follow. It was easy for [Name] to understand why Yachi had been in a university preparation class. She carefully constructed ideas that seemed plausible to the two lovers. The way the usually meek and shy girl spoke with so much vigor in her voice was beyond endearing to see for the two of them.
Eventually, they began to finish their projects up and Kiyoko excused herself to the bathroom. [Name] understood her girlfriends signal and rested a hand on Yachi's thigh. She tensed up and flushed, hands gripping on the sheet of paper she was trying to put away. The blonde let out a squeak when [Name] began to draw circles, fingers dragging across her clothed thigh. Yachi could feel a weak spike of arousal shooting through her.
"I didn't mean to startle you Hitoka", [Name] murmured, her movements halting, "If you don't want to-"
"Please", Yachi yelled, shutting her eyes.
[Name] raised an eyebrow. "Please what?"
"...no please continue... I... want to..."
[Name] smiled. "Can I kiss you Hitoka?"
Yachi nodded feverishly. [Name] cupped the petite woman's cheek and leaned in to press a kiss against her lips, first softly before gripping at her thigh again, making Yachi gasp and granting [Name] access to her mouth. With her tongue moving against her own, Yachi could only squeeze her thighs together in an attempt to get some relief against the wetness forming between her legs. She leaned back, only to hit something soft.
"Oh. You have started without me."
Kiyoko's calm voice brought Yachi back to reality. She broke the kiss and turned her face to meet her upperclassman's gaze and Yachi could feel her words die on her still tingling tongue.
Kiyoko's colour was purple. A dark shade of purple. Alluring and mysterious. The thight lace hugging her skin looked divine, intended. The stark contrast of purple against her pale skin accompanied by her luscious black hair and storm grey eyes made her look even more like a goddess than she usually did.
"She is gorgeous isn't she?", [Name] whispered, hand resting on Yachi's shoulder just like it had earlier today. "I designed it myself. But if you ask me I would've gone for a see through fabric around her breasts. And something more thong like for her panties."
Kiyoko flushed before whacking her girlfriend on the head.
"You are definitely a reflection of Aphrodite my love. Absolutely and utterly horny", she uttered, rolling her eyes.
Somehow, they always managed to calm her nerves. Even now, with Yachi's arousal making her panties stick uncomfortably against her pussy and Kiyoko sitting behind her in the most gorgeous pair of lingerie she had ever seen, she felt calm.
"I could make you a set as well", [Name] stated casually, "I'd just have to take your size."
[Name]'s hand wandered alongside her waist before coming to a halt at her chest, gently cupping her breasts. Yachi let out a squeak and tried to spin around again, back to facing [Name] but was stopped in her endeavor by Kiyoko's plush lips.
Kissing Kiyoko was different from kissing [Name]. [Name] was wild. Her kisses left you breathless, yearning for more. Kiyoko's were slow and sensual, soft and gentle in their nature. Yachi felt as if she had ascended. Being trapped between the two hottest women she had ever layed her eyes upon fulfilled every fantasy she had developed after accidentally stumbling upon a yuri manga one of her teammates had left in high school. (She was still sure it was either Tanaka or Nishinoya, which made her wonder what they'd say seeing Kiyoko, seeing her like this.)
"I think you'd great in stockings. Something flowey and soft. A soft pastel pink would definitely be your colour", [Name] continued, thumbs brushing against Yachi's nipples. She moaned, muffled by Kiyoko's skilled tongue dragging across hers.
"I think so too", Kiyoko murmured against her neck after breaking the kiss, leaving Yachi gasping for breath, "maybe strawberries could fit her as a theme. Maybe a strapless bra with a heart cut out right here."
Kiyoko rested her hand right between Yachi's breasts, which were still pleasured by [Name]'s hands.
"I really don't- ah- know if that would look so- so good on me", Yachi whimpered self-consciously, tears forming in her eyes, a mix of pleasure and hesitation swirling in her hazed brown orbs.
"It would", Kiyoko said simply, grasping Yachi's shirt and pulling it above her head.
"I absolutely would", [Name] agreed and lifted her up slightly so her girlfriend could pull off Yachi's pants.
There was a dark wet spot on Yachi's white panties that she felt embarassed for possessing. Still dazed, Yachi barely even noticed [Name] opening her baby blue bra and letting it slide down her shoulders, leaving her breasts bare to the cool air of the apartment.
"Your boobs are so cute Hitoka", [Name] squealed excitedly, "I can't get enough of them. So adorable and perky. Plus you have pretty nipples."
Yachi yelped out in surprise and felt the heat rise back into her face. [Name] was forward and it left Yachi more than breathless.
"Don't mind her. She just has a preference for... breasts", Kiyoko sighed.
[Name] laughed and nodded before turning to Yachi. "She says that as if she doesn't like the attention. She does. I made her squirt once after I sucked on her nipple. Ms. prim and proper is more into it than she allows herself to be."
Yachi let out a short, breathless snort that she would have normally felt embarrassed about but they put her at ease. Any feeling of isolation or anxiety vanished as soon as she heard [Name]'s teasing voice or felt Kiyoko's comforting touch.
"So now that the lust has temporarily passed should we change the setting back into the bedroom? I dunno if uh- the prospect of getting cum over our cute scrapbooks is a thing to look forward to", [Name] stated, her hands still resting casually on Yachi's breasts.
It was cold without them shielding her boobs from the cool temperatur, Yachi thought as they shuffled from the living room into Kiyoko and [Name]'s bedroom that felt all too familiar in that setting. It was messier than last time, which meant that they had probably been a bit anxious having her over as well. The thought comforted her.
"Come here Hitoka", [Name] said, pulling her out of her thoughts. After undressing, she had seated herself on the bed, Kiyoko behind her, her head resting on her girlfriends shoulder and [Name] was patting on the space on her lap.
Yachi gulped, her hands wandering to her underwear, before remembering how wild [Name] had gotten the last time when Kiyoko was still wearing her panties and decided against it. Trying it out couldn't hurt. She knew it was fine if she told them to stop at any moment.
"Good. One leg on each side of my thigh. Lower yourself into a comfortable position okay?"
Yachi nodded, though could barely contain a whimper as she felt her clit brush against [Name]'s leg. Her hands had found their way around her neck where Kiyoko had intertwined their fingers in a comforting act while [Name]'s had wrapped around Yachi's waist. From her position she could only look into Kiyoko's eyes, lust buried under a thick layer of reassurance for the sake of her comfort and feeling of security.
"Rub yourself against me Yachi. Your tempo okay?", [Name] said, her fingers running comforting circles on Yachi's thin waist.
Yachi nodded and bit her lip as she pushed herself against the older woman's leg. She let out a moan, her legs shaking, unable to stop her from falling forward, her head resting against [Name]'s shoulder.
"Is too much", Yachi whimpered, "Wanna move but its too difficult."
Her pitiful gaze locked with Kiyoko's who held her hands a little tighter, offering her words of encouragement.
"That's fine baby", [Name] said, her voice vibrant next to her ear, "Do you want me to move you?"
Yachi nodded furiously and the grip on her waist loosened as [Name]'s hand wandered lower.
"If it's too much, tell us", Kiyoko said as she scooted to them so she was now sitting flush against her lover's back, her face just a few centimeters away from Yachi's.
[Name] rested her foot at one of the wooden planks of their bed so Yachi was now sitting a little elevated and let her lower body slide down her leg.
Yachi let out a loud moan, the fabric of her panties rubbing deliciously against her clit. The noises were eagerly swallowed by Kiyoko who had let go of one of Yachi's hands to cradle her face instead as she moved her tongue against the blonde's.
Her mind was hazy as [Name] moved her up her leg again, this time pushing her down more firmly. Her pussy was aching, enjoying the friction but not satisfied, throbbing for something, anything inside, filling her up.
"Fuck you're so wet Yachi", [Name] groaned as she flexed her thigh sending a jolt through Yachi's core. Her pace grew rougher, increasing in speed. Yachi broke the kiss with Kiyoko and moaned, resting her forehead on [Name]'s shoulder. Kiyoko didn't rest however, sneaking her arms under her girlfriends to gain access to Yachi's nipples, pinching and groping them eagerly.
Yachi let out a shrill squeak when she felt herself growing close to her release, the familiar heat building up in the pit of her stomach. [Name] wrapped one arm around her waist, making her arch her back and her chest closer to Kiyoko's greedy hands, and let her now free hand wander down to Yachi's clit. Each grind allowed [Name]'s fingers to brush over Yachi's clit and ever so slightly push in the velvety warmth of her walls.
Trying to chase that feeling of satisfaction, Yachi steadied herself on her shaky knees and lifted herself up before beginning to shakily fuck herself on [Name]'s fingers, pressing her chest against [Name]'s, trapping Kiyoko's hands accidentally between them.
[Name]'s pushing and pulling stilled as she felt in amazement the way Yachi was rolling her hips against her, trying to rub her clit against [Name]'s wrist. Her thin cotton white panties were ruined by this point as Yachi desperately tried to push more of [Name]'s fingers inside of ger only to be obstructed by the devilish material in their path.
[Name] cooed and obliged Yachi's wish and pulled her panties to the side so her fingers could reach her properly.
Yachi screamed when [Name]'s fingers sheated themselves fully inside of her, the stretch of her two digits being too much for the petite blonde. Regardless, Yachi's grip on [Name]'s shoulders tightened as she continued her brutal pace, Kiyoko's fingers pinching and rubbing her and [Name]'s nipples together nearly enough to send her over the edge.
"Kiyoko", Yachi sobbed, tears welling in her eyes. The dark haired beauty stopped trailing kissing on her girlfriends naked shoulder and locked eyes with the wrecked blonde, who dove in to kiss her desperately. The kiss was clumsy and startled Kiyoko but she returned Yachi's eagerness.
[Name]'s fingers brushing against Yachi's sweet spot was enough to drive her over the edge. Yachi let out a loud moan as she rode out her orgasm, her cum splattering against [Name]'s hand and thigh.
Her chest was heaving rapidly as [Name] lowered her on the bed and Kiyoko cleaned the wetness on [Name] and Yachi with a towel. As her hand softly brushed against Yachi's abused cunt by accident while cleaning her thigh it twitched weakly and Yachi let out a small whimper.
"You're a horrible influence on her my dearest. Look at her already craving more again... she must have used you as an example."
"I think you're the worse influence."
"Says the woman who got off on watching her friend cum. You're close aren't you? I can't blame you, I'm feeling quite turned on myself. Do you want to-?"
"Yes."
"You're so cute when you're eager."
The conversation barely made sense in Yachi's hazy mind. Only slowly was she regaining her ability to think. Her whole body felt like it was on fire, the ache between her legs not having quite left her body just yet.
Kiyoko's loud moan distracted her from continuing the thought, if you could really call it that, and she haphazardly pulled herself and to choke at the sight before her.
Kiyoko's legs were spread and she was laying halfway on her stomach, her bra and panties discarded to the side, her heavy breasts gravitating towards the soft mattress underneath them. [Name] was kneeling between her legs, trapping one of her legs while resting the other one on your shoulder.
[Name] was rutting against her and Yachi could see something pink entering and leaving their pussies. She was mesmerized by the fast and brutal pace [Name] was setting, much more feral than she was with her. Her gaze fell on Kiyoko and she felt a jolt of arousal shooting through her core.
Her face was erotic, something straight out of a hentai or porno, or at least what Yachi thought it would look like. Her hair was dishevled, her tongue was sticking out drool dripping on the soft matress underneath them, her eyes were rolling back in her head, her breast pouncing against the sheets nipples gracing them ever so slightly and her moans were titillating.
"She is so hot like that isn't she?", [Name] grunted out and doubled her efforts after Kiyoko let out a particularly loud moan after the dildo had brushed against her sweet spot.
"What... what is that?", Yachi asked, breaking her gaze with [Name], her eyes flickering to the pink monstrosity. [Name] smirked.
"Its a double headed dildo", [Name] explained,"We enjoy them a lot because we can do this."
[Name] pushed her hips down, forcing more of the dildo to be swallowed by Kiyoko's puffy pussy. She angled her hips and let their clits brush against each other, inducing a loud moan between the both them.
"Kiss her Yachi. Show us what you've learned", [Name] breathed out, rocking her hip against Kiyoko's, enjoying the friction this position was giving them for their clits.
Yachi nodded and crawled forward. She was wet again, the juices running down her thighs.
"Kiyoko", Yachi murmured, hands cradling her upperclassman's soft cheeks. Her eyes were hazy, almost unable to focus on Yachi, an almost dumb smile gracing her lips.
"Open your mouth", Yachi commanded, shocking herself with the authority in her voice. The black haired beauty did as she asked, opening her mouth eagerly for whatever the blonde woman had in store for her.
Yachi steeled her nerves and pressed her lips to Kiyoko's, her tongue twisting around hers just like [Name] had kissed her earlier. Kiyoko did not attempt to fight back whatsoever, enjoying Yachi's assault on her mouth. Yachi bit down on Kiyoko's lip until she could taste the blood on her tongue.
"Just like that Yachi", [Name] praised, the fingers of her free hand finding her aroused cunt and pushing two fingers inside of her.
Yachi broke the kiss and let out a moan, surprised by the sudden intrusion, the grip on Kiyoko's face tightening as their share spit ran down Yachi's lips, dripping into Kiyoko's mouth who eagerly swallowed it.
"Cumming", [Name] grunted, followed by a incohesive moan from Kiyoko and a yelp by Yachi as she buried her fingers deeper into her pussy.
"Holy shit Yachi", [Name] panted out, Yachi's head snapping back, "She is squirting."
Holy shit indeed, Yachi thought as she watched Kiyoko's juices squirt out of her, drenching not only herself but [Name]'s stomach as well. Then she went slack, panting heavily, trying to regain her breath.
[Name] pulled the toy out of her pussy but left in Kiyoko's side of it.
"She doesn't like to be empty immediatly after", [Name] explained, grabbing a paper towel from her night stand to wipe away Kiyoko's cum from her stomach.
"What exactly was that?", Yachi asked, her eyes still glued at Kiyoko's cunt which was red from all the abuse it had experienced today, now matching her swollen lips.
"Squirting", [Name] said, "One of the hottest things a woman is capable of doing. Kiyoko's a squirter. She's just too sensitive after all."
Yachi wasn't exactly sure what that meant but just settled on googling it later. She didn't want to ruin the mood.
"You didn't get to finish yet did you?"
"Ah, no it's fine-"
"Do you want to try it too? We have a smaller one we could practice with first and then", [Name] mused, glancing at her close to being passed out girlfriend, "you could take my position and I will guide you along. Poor Kiyoko didn't have her fill yet but she needs a moment."
Yachi shuddered, remembering the last time. They had been awake almost the entire night trying to satsify Kiyoko.
"I'd love to try out", Yachi said, trying to hide her excitement as her pussy twitched, awaiting the attention.
Girls love was the best in the end.

Cheers for Five Years of Undertale, and its Everlasting Effect on Me
Been a while since I’ve done one of these... I might even be rusty at it! Honestly, what I’ve got right now are more vague thoughts than coherent words in my head. I wasn’t sure if I’d even do this, since I felt it wasn’t entirely necessary. Everybody had so much to say! But spurned on by the display of someone very close to me, the cogs in my head couldn’t help but start turning for me too. So here I am. This isn’t going to be easy, though. Because if you read this, I need you to understand the depth of my feelings. Even if just a little. So I’ll do my best to bare my heart yet again, for the sake of it and everything its done for me. Everything it’ll keep doing for me.
The beginning is usually always one of the hardest parts. A blank space devoid of anything, that you’ve got to somehow miraculously fill with thoughts somebody else could understand. But Undertale is rarely a subject I ever have to struggle so much with. It’s been a long, long five years.
This is re-treading old ground that a number of those who know me are already familiar with, however, I don’t think this would be complete without it. But it will get very, VERY personal. If you’re not comfortable with that, then uh... giving you another warning now. But pushing forward...
Right before UT came out, I hadn’t begun to really unravel quite yet. But I was very close. It was somewhat of a rough transitional period as I moved on from my middle school to high, losing very dear IRL friends and generally continuing to struggle with school, as I had been for years. Untreated ADHD is real nasty. But I’d always had at least some friends, either online, or ones I made throughout the year, to rely on. And I didn’t really think about things. The start of this school year was no different. Even having a... perhaps questionable choice of boyfriend, but, well, he was my first.
I struggled with just about every aspect of school from basically the start, but having a small group, and especially an online partner to come home to everyday, helped me at least get through. In the coming months, however, I’d start to encounter more turbulence. Through aforementioned partner, I met someone who’d come to rely on me far more than he should have. Made even worse by the fact that he was a full grown adult while I was only 14, which will be a recurring trend. And has been for most of my life.
We hit it off pretty quickly, becoming good friends and talking to each other outside of mutual friend spaces. And through that, he started to open up about his problems. Living with a family that treated him poorly, suicidal urges, and particularly, an abusive boyfriend. If you know me well, I’ve probably definitely talked about this at least a little.
My daily routine starting becoming supporting this person through all of his troubles. Sitting in skype calls or exchanging messages for hours at a time on the daily. Rarely did a day go by where I didn’t, slowly sinking into an apathetic pit from overextending myself for the sake of his mental health. I couldn’t even help him improve, all I could do was just try to keep him alive. Which, well, I did. For months.
Everything else fell to the wayside as I was constantly stressed about the life of someone I cared about. Obviously my school life suffered even further. I grew withdrawn from everyone, and kept only to the few online friends I had. However, in the midst of this downward spiral, just before the ball really got rolling, a certain game came out. Exactly a month after it had come out, October 15th, 2015, I’d become interested after all the talk on tumblr about Undertale.
After watching a playthrough on youtube(I didn’t play for myself at first, a pity), It’d personally resonated so strongly and gotten me so hooked that it was something I invested a fair amount of my time into consuming content about. I grew super attached to all these characters that’d made me laugh, smile, cry... just this whole spectrum of emotions. And someone in particular, Alphys, really caught my attention after things had begun to get worse.
She felt so... relatable, though I couldn’t possibly tell you all the reasons. When I think about it, we’re not really the most similar, but something about her just hooked me. Maybe because she had all these things going on that nobody knew about. And that she lied. And felt so anxious interacting with anyone after she’d previously been much warmer and closer. That she was closer to “disappearing” than she seemed.
Whatever the reasons, the months moving further along, consuming content about UT practically became my lifeline. I reblogged heaps and heaps of posts  about it, watched videos, listened to the soundtrack, even started drawing because I’d been so inspired. When I was just stuck in this horrible pit of second-hand depression, it was the one thing that still made me happy. I started to really think about why it mattered to me and how. It’s funny, I’d read books obsessively for years before then, but UT was the thing that really got me thinking. It was all downhill from there, I tell you. Now I’m an artist and a writer. Horrific.
But, unfortunately, for all its good... it couldn’t stop what was to come. I was still getting worse and worse, with no end in sight. I’d already been supporting... let’s call him Phil, for a few months. And in December of that year, my boyfriend completely dropped off the grid for a while. I’d see him appear online sometimes and I’d message him, but no response, then right back to offline. Finally, he came back, approaching me with something he obviously was uncomfortable about.
To make a long story short, he’d come to the conclusion that he was straight, and decided to end the relationship. What’s bad is that... honestly? I was already doing so poorly that I had a hard time caring. But we did pretty much stop talking, and I leaned into Undertale all the more. Anyway, time continued to pass. Not without its few ups, and mostly downs. I got used to being called “mature”, usually followed by “especially for your age.” “Phil” told me that if I were legal, he’d date me. I’ve got a crippling fear of screwing up with people that’s stuck with me to this day, after a few occasions involving him. I considered doing some... not so great things to myself. Thankfully, I was always so averse to physical pain that it didn’t become anything extreme.
As for the few ups, there was “Phil” finally managing to leave his abusive relationship, when he’d tried previously and fallen into such a bad depressive episode I had to talk him down. So that was something. He’d even started going to therapy after the second break up.
Not that it did a whole lot. The school year began approaching its end and nothing had really changed. I’d been going through all the same motions for around half a year or more. My sleep was terrible, I was passing almost none of my classes, had practically no friends to speak of, and just felt... tired. All the time. But during this... the minute beginning of a monumental shift started. Another character in UT had begun to clutch me in his grasp. Even more strongly than Alphys. Flowey. Through the posts a singular person on tumblr had made about him and my experience with the geno run, I came to understand the dumb little flower more. Which is also funny, because he was previously my least favorite. Even, yes, after the Asriel reveal.
I’m having a difficult time weaving together this convoluted timeline of events, but it was around... perhaps March or early April that the person whom I’d been supporting for almost a full fucking year completely disappeared. Without a word. The one thing I’d tried to stick to for so long was just. Gone. So I drifted about with, well, no purpose.
By the end of the school year, it probably goes without saying that I was... not doing great. But one those aforementioned acquaintances I’d only just started to become actual friends with came forth to me with a question. That being if there was some way for us to keep contact during the summer. So I gave her my email, which would turn out to be a decision that saved my life. Because things would only get worse before they got better.
This is getting to be way, way, way too long. So to summarize, summertime came around and I’d been in pretty close contact with... I’ll just call her V. She was... well, unlike anyone I’d ever known. Someone who stood out with the intelligence you could just see in their eyes. Outgoing, charismatic, compassionate... all those sorts of things. We were opposites in a lot of ways. Or, at least, it felt like it.
Some things happened, like “Phil” coming back after months of nothing. Me immediately slotting back into my role of being a pillar of support, but then screwing up and hating myself for it. But honestly, that ain’t shit to the rest of the whole shitshow.
For a bit of context, my parents are divorced. So for most of the previous years, I’d been going to my mom’s place during the summer and staying with her the whole time, to make up for how rarely we’d see each other otherwise. That year... she was beginning to run low on money. She lived next to my granny, but still basically alone, compared to how she’d been staying with someone else in hotels for the few prior years.
After learning she didn’t have enough to pay rent and might be kicked out, she tried to appeal to her mom, who said she wouldn’t let her stay. Why? I don’t know. After that, she spiraled into a panic. And, well, the ever faithful little worker bee, I stepped forward to try and console her in any way I could. She seemed to recompose, at least a little. It wasn’t great, and she thought she’d have to do some unsavory things in order to survive, but... I thought that, just maybe, I’d done something.
But... later that night, she started drinking. Which... well, put her in a mood. Exacerbated by the day’s earlier events and the fact that she was taking medication that responded poorly to alcohol. She came over to where I was sitting, my little makeshift desk I’d put together to set up my desktop, with my little sister just in the other room. Just... a warning for this next part, it’s... grim. More grim than anything else in this thread.
She proceeded to tell me she was going to go upstairs and grab the gun my granny kept in her room. And berated me for thinking I’d done anything to help, saying she “wasn’t like my little friends” that I could simply talk to. With that, she walked away, heading upstairs. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so crushed in my entire life, to this day. I broke down crying, sitting in that chair.
Yet, somehow, I managed to stop when I saw her coming back down. She walked back over, pointed the gun at her head, and told me to give her a reason she shouldn’t do it. And also to this day, I.... still don’t know if I said what was right. It was all I could think of. I quietly told her that if she did it, I’d pick that gun up and do it to myself. Same as her. And I asked if she wanted to be responsible for that.
It was true, too. By that point, I didn’t care anymore.
And if there’s one thing I can say about her, it’s that she’s always cared about me. In a horrible, twisted way especially, that night. It was enough to make her silently pull the gun down, go back upstairs, and put it away. One last time... she came down, walked past me to the front door and simply said “I love you.” before going out to sit on the porch.
I’m not sure I’ll ever truly get over the events of that night. I spoke to V afterwards, as I’d been keeping in regular contact, as I said. And even been speaking to her throughout the day about what was happening. I think she was panicking just as much as I had been, and told me to go find the gun and unload it. So I did. Bawling my eyes out the whole damn time. Afterwards, I took the bullets and threw them in the large neighborhood garbage can.
The rest of the night’s a blur. I don’t recall if anything else happened, I just remember waking up tired the next day. My uncle was in the house, as he’d been staying with my granny for a while, but hadn’t been around the night before. I tried to talk to him, but.. couldn’t bring myself to open up. Even though we were pretty close. I went back to my dad’s.
That wasn’t the end of it, either. For the next coming months, I’d get drunken calls and live in fear of being put right back in the same situation. It got so bad that I stopped answering my phone altogether. I broke contact with my mom entirely. I still hate answering or making calls.
Anyway, a few other things happened in the summer, like my applying for online courses. And the subsequent ridicule from my dad’s side of the family for the decision. Tell you what, the stress of taking a test to try and join that online program, then going to golden corral and having to struggle to not cry in front of everyone there was... not the ideal way to spend a birthday. Happy 15 years to me.
So.... that was that. I still went through with online courses and everything kind of... slowed to a crawl. I tried to do school work, but depression and still yet untreated ADHD prevented me from making any substantial progress beyond a few finished classes. For a while I simply... existed in a limbo. All I did was get up, get on my computer, maybe talk to a few people, and play Overwatch. Maybe look at tumblr, as I remained into Undertale. V and I lost contact after school started back up. I never blamed her for it. In fact, I preferred it that way. She didn’t deserve to have such a burden placed on her, and I still... feel guilty for leaning on her so much.
But I’m very thankful. I hope she’s out there living a good life, wherever she is.
And this! Is where we finally get to the not depressing parts! And only... what, 29 paragraphs in? Sheesh... I know I wanted to really illustrate just how shit things were to demonstrate just how much UT did for me, but this is taking it a bit far, isn’t it? Ah well... already made it this far. In for a penny, in for a pound. If you’ve made it this far, congratulations! I’m sorry. Truly. And I love you so very dearly.
Time went by and I kept doing my thing. Playing Overwatch(a practically self-destructive behavior deserving a therapy, frankly), talking to the few friends I had that I kept at an arm’s length, that sort of stuff. “Phil” and I no longer talked, thank goodness. Obviously I was depressed as all hell, not bothering to shower, eat, clean up, or do laundry for days on end. I spent more time asleep than I did awake, on most days. Did I say this was where the not depressing part was? I may have lied a little.
Blah blah “more months go by”, you know the drill. Until... I believe, November of 2016. After cementing my love of Flowey ever deeper, I’d started to follow more blogs putting out content for him on tumblr. In particular, the most important ones being I’lltrytobegood, Flowey-Answers, and later happyflowey and Corruptedflora.
It all started with a stream. I joined an art stream of LLA(Lovelyladyartist) on picarto as he worked on ITTBG. I kept quiet for the first few streams I joined, being too anxious to really out myself in any capacity. But little by little, I was coerced out of my shell. Particularly by one SilverKhaos, who I think at the time went by SilverSlayer or something. Anyway, he got me talking. And through that, I started making friends, bit by bit.
Also through the stream, I was introduced to CC(CuteCatDoodles) of Flowey-Answers. I obsessively read through the entire blog in a single sitting, just... having such a good time with it. And... strangely enough, it... got me feeling oddly better. Like I’d finally started to breath after not being able to for what felt like such a long time. If just a little. The next day, I got out of bed early, cleaned up, took out some garbage, and made breakfast. Just a simple plate of scrambled eggs. A simple, easy morning for most any average person. But for me? It was one of the most special mornings I’ve ever had.
Likewise, I did the same with Ding’s happyflowey, of reading through all of it in a single night. My head hurt like a motherfucker, but I tell you, it was worth it. The effect perhaps not as profound, but still very meaningful to me, as well as sowing the seeds of yet more relationships to form. If far off in the future, as far as this timeline is concerned. I still adore all of those dumb, charming little flowers so much. Mania would come to inspire my first ever OC, in fact. Thinking about that blog makes me miss when the UT fandom was more active here, even though I never participated in the fandom at large. But I’m grateful for the memories and incredible amounts of enjoyment getting to read it all brought me. I have way too many cropped images of Hysteria.
I wasn’t immediately better, but it was all the start of something new. I kept up with the streams, also joining in for CC’s. For hours upon hours a day, I’d just hop into them and spend the day talking away. I had something to really look forward upon waking up, starting to adjust my schedule so that I at least didn’t miss TOO much. I was able to really make friends, it felt like. Even though I wasn’t and still am not the most socially adept.
And as luck would have it, because picarto chat was and probably still is pretty unstable to this day, it just happened to go down and that led to... the creation of the discord server! It started off small, but steadily got more and more joiners from the growing population of the streams. LovelyLadyArtist, CuteCatDoodles, BrySkye, Flowers-Without-Pots, SilverSlayer, KRS, Donut, Mr.Quarter, Dragoler, Stilla, Chara, RotmModdy, Rowdy, Dunal, and probably at least a few others I’m forgetting... all names I encountered there and most of which I still see daily.
Through that server, we started keeping up even when there wasn’t any stream going on. Just goofing off and having a good ‘ol time. Already I was... well, doing a helluva lot better than I had before. All because of the gathering of a small community surrounding this indie gem. And even further centered in a niche specifically about Flowey! Who, and I’d forgotten to mention this before, I’d found a surprising amount to relate in. He’d become a big, BIG hyperfocus. Which is why I’d met everyone at all. Truly, it’s crazy to think how possible it is for me to have never come down this path.
From there on, I continued to meet new people, established new relationships. I even got invited to an RP server, creatively named “Flower RP” :p. At first I was hesitant, perhaps not even initially 100% interested. But as people really got into it, I felt an incredibly strong Fear of Missing Out. Leading to the creation of a character still near and dear to my heart.... Zorch. The result of contributions from many friends, from design ideas, to character concepts, and even his name(thanks for that, Rowdy). And... I began to write. It wasn’t great at first. very short form, and I didn’t know how to approach the roleplaying mindset, or even how to properly characterize him.
But over time... I got better. I became more confident. I really got into the nitty-gritty of character writing and discussion. I joined in on hours long discussions about the characters, lore, and narrative of Undertale. I’d wake up just to be there as soon as chat began to move, all the way to the point where everyone was finally asleep. I started to be able to help people again. For months, participating in this RP, in this chat, in this community was what I lived for. The joy that I felt in being among friends all working towards and talking about a common goal and interest is, well, honestly still somewhat unrivaled.
Paci, Pots, Neue, Castor, Silver, Nightmare, Rowdy. Me. All of us joined together in mutual love for a game, spurred on to feverishly create our own content about it. I kept up for months on end, living by the mostly same routine for probably the longest I’ve ever stuck to anything. Eventually... things happened and the server’s gone quiet. We had problems with management, people feeling excluded, targeted, etc etc. It was a very... consequence heavy RP, most of us were almost complete newbies to the roleplaying game, and many came to care rather deeply about the ongoings of it. Perhaps too much. But, well... I’m not sure it could have been prevented.
Sometimes, I still wish I could go back to that point of my life. I know someone else who does too. Even more than me. But I know not to try and emulate the past, as alluring as it may seem. So I push forward. Leading to yet another server with its own events. Clement, myself, Rowdy, Zielo, Neue, Moddy, Vee, Mini, Nappy, Tia, Silver. Some familiar names, some new. All still with the foundation of Undertale, but it quickly became a thing for us to just... chill and talk about anything. There was real love in that place. It was at this time that I even started going to therapy! After some struggling with the family. It helped a lot.
In time, that server, too, went under. For reasons that have long since been buried and forgiven. It no longer exists, after being deleted entirely, but I’ll always remember it. And we did eventually all(mostly) gather back together someplace new, which is still being talked in. Even gaining some new additions recently! If any of you guys are catching this one, I love you!
And we come to the final and most recent group. One I wasn’t actually a founding member of, instead being a late joiner. Comparatively smaller than all the ones before, but filled with just as much love. Pip, Ding, Kink, and Cola. Remember when I mentioned happyflowey sowing seeds, and then didn’t even expound in further detail about corruptedflora? Well congratulations, you’ve reached the payoff.
It all started after I began interacting with the mun of CF, Kinko, and became mutuals with them. We usually just spam reblogged from each other on occasion for a while. That is, until I got messaged, then sent a friend request through Discord. Which, even still, didn’t immediately go anywhere. But eventually... some things led to another, and we joined up in a particular server. Not one I’ll be naming, but times were... turbulent in there. It went under and we lost contact a bit after that.
That is, until completely out of the blue, I just get invited to a server with them and some pals to just join in on Roblox shenanigans. Imagine me, sweating and anxious as hell after getting asked to join a server with two people behind blogs I adore, considering Ding was there too. Cardiac arrest, I tell you. And obviously more than just them too! But the night turned out to be so fun that I forgot I’d ever been so anxious in the first place.
From there on... the rest was history. There’s been many, MANY ups and downs, but I’ve found yet more people I love very, very dearly. And they’ve gotten me to open up about the way I feel the most. In the past years, I could never tell someone I loved them, no matter how much I really wanted to. The words just couldn’t come out, but they... they brought that out in me. And now I can say it whenever I want! Like now! I love you guys!!! So much!!!! And not just you all, but everyone else too!!! And much love to Kink especially for being a driving force behind me making this, as well as just being a goddamn star.
So... as a final ovation... LLA, CC, Bry, Drago/Paci, Pots, Silver, Donut, Quarter, Stilla, Chara, Moddy, Rowdy, Neue, Castor/Skater, Tia/Nightmare, Clement, Zielo, Vee, Nappy, Ding, Pip, Cola, and Kink. As well as some stragglers like Log, Ingrid, and Jai. I’m probably still forgetting some... but thank you all for being my friends. It’s been a long, long five years. And yet, many of you are still in my life. In at least some form. There aren’t words enough to express my gratitude towards every single one of you for the most incredible years of my life and pulling me from what can be called nothing less than the fucking abyss. You all made and continue to make life worth living.
And thank you, Undertale. The game behind all of these relationships.  The game that inspired such strong feelings in me when nothing else could. That made me into an artist and writer. The reason I’m still alive. The game that changed my fucking life and will continue to affect me, I believe, for the duration of it. I really cannot overstate just how important you were and still are. There’ll never be anything else like you.

Can we have a sequel to Undertale - Swap MH meetups where Classic Sans and Noodle, Classic Undyne and Axe, etc. (Basically the character taking their place) meet up (With the exception of Frisk and Chara ofc since you tackled those already)? I'd love to see what Papyrus would think of a version of his brother that's, you know, not lazy
absolutely you can that’s even more my jam
UT Sans & Noodle:
chill skells eating garbage food together :’>
despite the weirdness of seeing their own personality in each other and still expecting this version of their brother to start shouting and running off somewhere like they’re used to, they still end up treating each other as brothers (UT Sans being the older bro, of course).
it’s just a nice goofy hangout until UT Sans starts punning and then Noodle’s like “alright i’m out you can have him back now”
UT Papyrus & Neptune:
THE GREATEST, MOST SANSATIONAL HANGOUT OF ALL TIME
UT Papyrus is the more surprised of the two by his brother’s counterpart - a version of Sans who actually does things? incredible. meanwhile Neptune is less surprised by UT Papyrus’ usual energy since Noodle has his energetic moments too, but he’s very excited to meet a Papyrus who’s like that all the time!
UT Paps is still annoyed by the gratuitous bad puns, but clearly something would be wrong if a Sans hated puns so he can put up with it. they’d spend the time rushing around being cool dudes, sparring together and generally being good bros (again, Neptune being older) until Neptune inevitably runs out of energy and has a nap while UT Papyrus carries him. some things are universal constants.
…honestly though Neptune might be a little bewildered by the hotpants. his brother does not tend to show that much femur
“COULD I, UH. OFFER THE GREAT PAPYRUS SOME LONGER SHORTS?”“WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?? MY BATTLE BODY IS A LOOK!!”
UT Alphys & Sci-Fi:
one minute the cutest geeking out together, the next a lot of intense nerd rambling about bad anime sequels and Top 10 Shows That Made You Believe In The Power Of Friendship Again
there will be no cross-universe cheating in my house but neither can deny that seeing a version of their girlfriend in glasses is adorable
Sci-Fi and UT Alphys working together would be a Scientific Dream Team and they’d create the coolest gadgets :D
“S-so, um… b-buff girls, right?”“Oh my god buff girls are great.”
UT Undyne & Axe:
meeting a strong version of her favourite little nerd is just the cutest and coolest thing to UT Undyne very relieved that this even more intense version of Undyne doesn’t have access to dangerous chemicals.
Axe isn’t surprised to see UT Undyne still uses spears (again, she’s just glad they don’t explode with poison gas on impact), but UT Undyne’s reaction to Axe’s, uh, axe? damn that’s a cool weapon
they gatecrash their friends’ other meetups just to see who can lift all of them the easiest
UT Undyne plays piano and Axe loves her anime theme songs, so they’d also have a duet where UT Undyne plays piano covers of anime openings while Axe sings the lyrics~
UT Mettaton & Swap MH Napstabot:
like I mentioned in the previous meetups ask, MTT would be so excited to meet a version of his cousin with a robot body. admiring the gadgets on their gauntlets, love this hairstyle darling, floaty legs?? and they’re monsterkind’s beloved music star? he could not be prouder.
Napstabot is much more surprised to meet Mettaton, still instinctively calling him ‘Happs’ at first but they adjust to his new name immediately. they’re still a little shyer about sharing their music compared to MTT showing off his brand, but his compliments double their self-esteem that day.
the show these two put on together would go down in the history books :’D
UT Napstablook & Swap MH Happstablook:
a very… familiar meeting for the both of them :’> it wouldn’t take long for both to start treating each other like cousins, just like when their own respective cousins were still ghosts.
a quiet hangout consisting of eating ghost sandwiches, UT Napstablook working on a new spooktune remix while Swap MH Happsta writes in his diaries, and chilling with the snails.
occasionally one of them has a moment that surprises the other by how similar they act to their robotic version they’re used to, and neither draws attention to it but it warms their ghostly souls.
I did not expect to have this many Emotions about ghost cousins help
UT Asgore & Orchid:
in a word? tense.
UT Asgore would be quietly shocked to know a version of Toriel could do the same things as him, given how against all that UT Toriel is. Orchid would be very quick to mention it was never her choice, but that anger would just as quickly turn into self-hatred knowing she’s no better than him. she’d at least acknowledge that this version of Asgore had the guts to stick to his decision.
and this meetup sounds so miserable even the characters themselves would notice, so UT Asgore would try to say something meaningful about second chances on the surface. but he’d probably word it some goofy way at the end and that’s what gets at least a hint of a smile from Orchid.
UT Toriel & Dandelion:
UT Toriel would still take issue with knowing Dandelion made the call to kill humans, but her opinion of him would definitely be more positive than how she feels about UT Asgore ahah
Dandelion would be quite glad to meet a version of Toriel whose life isn’t as consumed with grief as Orchid’s, and like the previous meeting of Toriels I think they’d end up talking about both their past and present children. also probably a mention of their respective door pals?
…I swear I was just gonna leave that last sentence without going off about Soriel but I had a thought I can’t not mention: in Swap MH’s post-pacifist Orchid and Neptune get together a few months earlier than my headcanon for when UT Toriel and Sans start dating, so if UT Toriel isn’t already with her Sans at that point then Dandelion just quietly sips his tea with his eyebrows raised knowingly at the way she talks about her skeleton friend.
“…What are you smirking at me like that for?”“Ah, nothing, don’t worry about it. }: )”
UT Flowey & Swap MH Temmie:
Swap MH Temmie probably just assumes UT Flowey is another identical Flowey from the village at first and just keeps up her act. UT Flowey is much more suspicious about this living plushie Temmie but tries to figure them out with his usual friendly facade.
if they meet post-pacifist and therefore aren’t still trying to be antagonists, maybe they’d actually talk openly? they’d both be pretty surprised to know who the other used to be, and very curious to know about how the living version of their respective human sibling is doing.
oh also, UT Temmies meeting Swap MH Floweys: a bunch of weird creatures repeatedly yelling “Howdy!” and “hOI!” over and over and calling each other their best friends. anyone witnessing this just walks away in silence. their mind will never know peace, forever confused and haunted by whatever the Heck was going on there.
UT Monster Kid & Swap MH Asriel:
I’m not sure if UT MK really knows about Asriel and the significance of seeing him alive? they might just be like “hey, you’re a kid too! you kinda look like the king and also my teacher :D”
Swap MH Asriel on the other hand - he knew Swap MH Monster Kid before their death, and wasn’t inseparably close but they were still part of his family. so he’d be a lot more sentimental about meeting them :’>
Swap MH Asriel wouldn’t tell UT MK that they died in his world though (that’s just weird), he’d simply appreciate getting to spend time with them again. they both talk about the cool adults they idolise and practice magic together.
“Hey, MK, do you wanna guess how old I am?”“Um… 10? Maybe 11?”“Close! I’m 113. :3”“???!?? YO????”

The Third Worst Day
Loosely inspired by the ninth chapter of @undertalethingems Unexpected Guests comic, and by the end of John Mulaney’s Delta Airlines bit. (“In fact, we’re gonna frame you for MURDER! [...] ~Because we’re Delta Airlines, and life is a fucking nightmare~”)
Sans was not having the shittiest day of his life, because everyone was on the surface and Frisk was being nice this timeline.
The second shittiest day, though- well, no, not that either, technically speaking. Nothing was on fire except maybe Undyne’s house underground, and that just because no one could be bothered to put it out when everyone was moving to the surface anyway. (Please don’t ask about the second shittiest day of Sans’ life, he will not tell you and will instead have flashbacks)
Ugh, it was really indicative that this BS only ranked third.
So, the curtain opens on the third shittiest day of Sans’ life, and maybe, like, the eighth worst thing to ever happen to him.
What could be bad enough to rank on Sans’ top ten worst days list, though? (which is a list he actually made once, as a joke, and then he looked at it and kind of wanted to cry, before laughing instead because that’s just how Sans copes with things)
Well, you see, he was being framed for murder.
Flowey, specifically, was currently attempting to frame him for the death of the old royal scientist, W.D Gaster, who Sans had met maybe once in his entire life.
Admittedly, the fact that he actually remembered said meeting, and that there had been a previous royal scientist at all, was highly unusual.
He didn’t remember for anywhere close to the reasons Flowey was insinuating, though. No, the reason Sans remembered the old royal scientist had very little to do with the scientist himself and a lot more to do with how remembering across timelines was triggered in the first place.
Cross-timeline memory retention (which are the Official Science Words for it) was triggered by high levels of Determination. No more, no less. And Sans had very high DT levels for a monster. It was pretty much the only reason he’d managed to make it to adulthood with just a single point of HP to his name. (Undyne remembered a bit too, he suspected, though he’d never called her on it)
So the reason Sans remembered the existence of Gaster was the same reason he had what little knowledge he did of the RESETs, though he remembered far less of those, due to having fewer triggers for the memories to resurface. (The fact that no one knew who had built the CORE had been enough for Sans’ mind to fill in the blanks)
Flowey was saying that Sans remembered because he’d known the guy, which was just flat out wrong. The weed was insinuating that Sans couldn’t possibly due the things he did without being a scientist, which was partially true, and finally accusing him of killing Gaster, either to steal his research or because Sans was the Judge, (Nice of Flowey to out him, the little shit) which was blatant slander.
Sans could see that the others (excluding Alphys, who knew the story was bullshit) didn’t want to believe what Flowey was saying, but he could also see that, despite that fact, he was still convincing them.
Flowey, after all, was a very skilled liar. Especially when it came to convincing people of crazy backstories he’d concocted on the spot. It made sense, since he’d had rather a lot of practice.
As Flowey finished his story, Sans looked at Alphys. He texted her a question about an old promise he’d made to her that was suddenly not one he was sure he should keep. (He’d do it anyway, if she asked, but breaking it would make disproving Flowey’s allegations that much easier.)
“And that’s why- are you on your PHONE?” Flowey interrupted himself, looking hilariously offended for someone who was actively framing a guy for murder.
“Is that how little you care? You killed him and you can’t even be bothered to hear out the allegation?” Oh, so that’s how he was playing it. Sans narrowed his eyes, just a bit, before responding.
“eh, you looked like you were having fun. wouldn’t want to interrupt, ya know?” Earlier in the conversation, when Sans was still actively participating, Flowey had interrupted him several times. Alphys snickered at his jab, and hit the send button on her phone.
Sans checked the text, and inwardly sighed in relief. Seemed like he could take the easy way out here.
“Sans, please put away your phone. This is a serious conversation,” Toriel said. Sans supposed he had to agree to disagree on that one. This wasn’t much of a conversation at all as much as it was Flowey using his knowledge to manipulate the room in a way that allowed him to frame Sans for murder.
“yeah, don’t worry, tori. it was relevant,” She looked as if she doubted that, but she didn’t say anything. Sans sent Alphys a quick thank-you and stuck the offending device back in his pocket. He turned to look at Flowey, who probably would have shrunk from the ice in his gaze if Flowey had ever bothered to figure out how to read his expressions.
“so, you done, pal?” There were several winces around the room at the vitriol present in his tone, but none of them belonged to Flowey.
“Yeah, I think I’ve made my point pretty clear!” Flowey looked positively cheerful at the thought.
“good, ‘cause i’m getting pretty tired of hearing you speak. don’t want a repeat of the last time you tried something like this, right?” Last time Flowey had attempted something like this with Sans present, the weed had still been in control of the timeline. Sans had killed him before he could even finish his speech.
“Ha! You wouldn’t dare! Not when Frisk is-” Flowey cut himself off before he could dig all three of them (four of them?) into a hole they really wouldn’t be able to talk their way out of. Frisk shot him a glare, with an expression that said they’d probably kill Flowey themselves, if he didn’t shut his trap. The weed gulped audibly.
“A-anyway! Are you gonna explain yourself, trashbag?” Papyrus made the same pinched expression he always did when Flowey used that particular moniker.
“heh. sure, why not,” Sans’ grin turned predatory.
“i’m not gonna bother asking you to back your claims with evidence, since we both know you don’t actually have any,” Flowey narrowed his eyes, probably thinking of a thousand ways to justify that, but Sans continued without giving a chance.
“you’re right that i used to be a scientist, so kudos for that, i guess. my leaving the field had nothing to do with gaster, though. it actually happened quite a while after that,” Sans preferred not to talk about this, but with Flowey forcing his hand, it seemed like the simplest solution.
“my leaving had nothing to do with gaster, and everything to do with the experiments that got alph fired,”
--
When Sans had been younger and more optimistic, he’d wanted to be a scientist more than anything in the world. He’d spend hours combing through the dump for old textbooks, and the few he found, he’d pore over until he had them practically memorized.
So when an ad went out saying that the new royal scientist was looking for an assistant, he’d jumped at the opportunity. Sans had spent hours studying for the required tests, barely even eating in his complete dedication to the task before him.
Sans didn’t know whether he’d had the highest score, or if he’d been selected for his blue magic, (a rare ability that was extremely useful for engineering) or if had simply been because he lived so close to the lab at the time, but he got the job. He’d celebrated for a day straight, and would probably have irritated the hell out of Papyrus if they’d been living together at the time. (Sans was in that young adult phase where he lived alone in a shitty apartment because he was trying to be independent)
When he’d first met Alphys, he was not ashamed to admit to having geeked out a bit. She was considered one of the greatest minds of their generation, after all.
He’d tried to keep it to a minimum, though, (correctly) figuring that she wouldn’t have much use for him as an assistant if he was too busy with hero worship to contribute anything.
Though they’d been awkward together at first, they’d quickly warmed up to each other, and soon at least half of the new innovations exiting the lab had their roots in Sans’ ideas as much as Alph’s.
Quickly enough, they’d become best friends.
And then…
Then had come the Determination experiments.
Both Alphys and Sans had agreed it would be best not to allow the amalgamates out of the True Lab. Alphys had confined herself to her workplace, moving in a bed and her anime collection so she’d only have to leave for the occasional grocery run.
Sans had kept his status as her assistant under wraps, though, so he didn’t have to worry about being cornered by the victims’ families like she did. Papyrus had mentioned recently that he was looking for someone to go in halfsies with him on a housing lease in Snowdin, so Sans did what he did best, and ran away from his problems, packing his stuff and moving just about as far from Hotland as it was possible to get without entering the Ruins.
He and Alph stayed friends, though. When you’re the only two people who know about a catastrophic disaster like that, it kinda brings you together.
--
Sans finished his explanation with a nod to Alphys, before saying,
“and as for gaster, the only connection i’ve got to the guy is that i named an attack after him in honor of his scientific prowess,”
The room was silent for a few moments as everyone thought through his words. Suddenly, Flowey said,
“Yeah, that’s all well and good, but how did you even know about him? Everyone else forgot he ever existed!” Sans smiled secretively.
“probably the same way you do, asriel,” Let no one say he couldn’t give as good as he got. If Sans had to share his backstory, well.
Might as well take the flower down with him.

Close Call
Tumblr media
Flowey pushed up through the ground in a dark cave behind Frisk.  He watched from shadows as the human entered the next area.  There was a stream running through the cavern.  Frisk glanced over the flowing water for a moment then approached some lily pads near the far corner.  Flowey's stem bent as he snickered quietly.  "He's gonna go right to the barrier and die to Asgore like every other stupid human before him."  Flowey grinned.  "And then when Asgore tries to take his soul, I'll come in and grab all seven!  Stupid king won't know what’s coming."  Flowey scowled.  "Serves him right for not listening to me in the first place."  Frisk placed lily pads in the stream in order to reach a sign near the bridge he had crossed earlier.  The sign read, Congratulations.  You failed the puzzle.  Frisk sighed then began pulling the plants out of the water again.
Flowey shook his petalled head and smirked.  “Idiot,” he whispered.  "Wait.  If Chara does have something to do with this, she probably doesn’t realize it’s me.  Which means I'll probably need to show her to convince her.  But I can't do that until I get a soul.  So what do I do?  Hm . . .”  Flowey paused, his eyes drifting down.  “Should I wait until I finish my plan then bring her back and reset the timeline?"  He nodded.  "Yeah.  That sounds good."  Flowey watched as Frisk solved the puzzle and continued through the cave.  He frowned.  "What am I saying?  Chara probably has nothing to do with it.  Just wishful thinking.  Doesn't even matter anyway," Flowey grumbled.  He sunk into the ground again.
As he walked slowly, Frisk stared at the cave ceiling above.  It was covered in blue crystals, twinkling softly almost like stars in the night sky.  The child noticed a plaque mounted on the left, rock wall that had blue letters.  It read, Wishing Room.  The letters were glowing with a magical light.  There was a tall blue flower standing to the right of the sign.  Frisk stepped toward it as it whispered softly, as if he was hearing a past conversation.
"A long time ago, monsters would whisper their wishes to the stars in the sky.  If you hoped with all your heart, your wish would come true," it said.  "Now, all we have are these sparkling stones on the ceiling."  Its soft voice echoed through the cave before fading.  Frisk sighed.  He could sense sadness in the monster’s voice.  He wanted to tell them that it would all be okay one day.  They'd find a way out.  They'd be free soon.  The little human looked further ahead and saw a few more Echo Flowers.  He approached the next which had grown on the right.
It spoke with a voice louder than the last.  "Thousands of people wishing together can't be wrong!  The king will prove that," it said.  Frisk passed the flower, stepping toward the next which stood beside a fourth.  "Come on, sis!  Make a wish!" said the first.  "I wish my sister and I will see the real stars someday," whispered the other.  Frisk frowned then glanced beyond them.  One last Echo Flower stood in this part of the cave.  Almost feeling the hopelessness of the monsters as well, Frisk moved over to the far corner of the cavern where the last blue flower stood alone.
It spoke in a soft, sad voice like that of a hurting child.  "It's not fair.  Why can't things be like they used to be?" it said.
Frisk sighed, reaching out to feel the velvety, blue petals of the flower with a small hand.  "Someday," he said.  "Someday it'll be better.  Just don't give up."  He lowered his hand as a gentle breeze brushed by him from the left.  Frisk glanced that direction.  There was an opening along the rock wall.
"Someday . . . someday it'll be better.  Just don't give up," the Echo Flower whispered.
Frisk managed a smile and nodded.  He continued on, leaving the flowers behind.  The human exited the small cave into a large, open cavern.  Its floor was completely flooded with water, the exact depth of it unknown.  A large, wooden bridge extended before Frisk.  It led to a large cliff face that rose from the water.  Frisk casually started across the bridge, glancing over the water’s surface.  He could see tall reeds and water sausages scattered sparsely, meaning the water couldn't be very deep.  He reached the cliff and followed the bridge along it.  He put a hand on the rock to feel it as he went.  It was surprisingly smooth.  Frisk glanced at his hand and stopped suddenly.  The wall was covered with ancient, carved writings.  The child hurried back to the beginning to attempt reading them.  There was a label before the text that read, The War of Humans and Monsters.
Struck with interest, Frisk read the writings to himself.  "Why did the humans attack?  Indeed, it seemed that they had nothing to fear.  Humans are unbelievably strong.  It would take the soul of nearly every monster just to equal the power of a single human soul."  Frisk paused to think about that.  "Whoa," he whispered.  He moved on to the next section.  The words were hard to make out in the dim light.  "But humans have one weakness.  Ironically, it is the strength of their soul.  Its power allows it to persist outside the human body, even after death."  Frisk nodded slightly in understanding and moved to the next part.  "If a monster defeats a human, they can take its soul.  A monster with a human soul . . . a horrible beast with unfathomable power."  Frisk reached the end of the wall to find an illustration carved deep into the rock.  He observed it closely.  There was something very unsettling about this drawing.  The monster depicted here strangely resembled Toriel.  It was furry, wore a similar robe and had two horns on its head.  But its horns were much longer than Toriel’s.
Frisk stared several seconds trying to make sense of it.  He had only seen one monster so far that looked like Toriel . . . and that was Toriel.  So who was this?  Someone related to her?  Someone from her past family perhaps?  Frisk shook his head and continued on.  The bridge was wide and lead forward into the dark as far as the human could see.  Frisk jumped when a blue spear shot down from above and stabbed into the wooden platform only inches before him.  He stopped in fear, looking around quickly.  On a higher ledge to the left, Undyne stepped from the shadows with spear in hand.  She threw it at Frisk.  Frisk screamed and bolted down the long bridge.  Undyne jumped from the ledge, landing hard on the bridge which shook with a thud.  Frisk didn't look back.  His boots clomped against the wood as he ran.  He could hear the knight throwing attacks at him.  Spears flew over his head.  Frisk zigzagged as he ran, panic setting in.
This probably wasn't going to end well.  He had been seen and there was no telling what was on the other side of this bridge.  As spears flew by on either side, Frisk kept running.  Undyne stomped after him.  She followed at nearly the same speed despite the weight of her metal armor.  She summoned sets of three projectiles each time she attacked.  Frisk panted hard.  Ahead he saw the end of the bridge and patch of tall grass.  He tried to increase his pace but couldn't manage.  One of the spears flew over his head, but the next struck his back and shattered with a burst of magic.  The impact threw Frisk several yards forward.  He yelled and landed in the tall grass, tumbling over a few times before coming to a stop.  Sharp pains shot up and down his spine.  Frisk rolled into a ball taking in deep breaths as he tried not to yell and give away his exact location.  He squirmed a little and cringed.
He could hear Undyne stomping toward him, like a predator searching for its injured prey.  When she stopped nearby, Frisk glanced up through the grass around him.  He could see her towering, dark silhouette staring down at something close by.  Undyne suddenly reached down to grab something.  With one hand, she lifted a little, yellow monster kid out of the grass by a spine on his head.  She stared at him for a few seconds . . . the monster kid staring back at her, mouth open and completely speechless.  Undyne scowled then slowly set him back down among the grass.  She turned and left the way she had come, mumbling something to herself.  Frisk finally coughed a few times and let out a yell of pain.  He rolled over to crawl out of the grass weakly as the unpleasant sensation inside him began to fade.  Frisk stood up in a smaller tunnel beyond the tall grass, still trembling in fear.
The monster kid rushed out to join him.  "Yo!  Did you see that?!  Undyne just touched me!  I'm never washing my face ever again!  Man, are you unlucky.  If you were standing just a little bit to the left . . ."  Frisk cringed.  He didn't want to think about what would have happened if he had been.  "Don't worry!" said the monster kid.  "I'm sure we'll see her again!"
Frisk backed into the rock wall in alarm.  The little monster hurried on down the path.  "But . . . I don't think I want to see her again," Frisk whispered.  With great reluctance, the child forced himself onward.
Flowey emerged among the tall grass as the human continued.  "Don't want to see her?  Oh, don't worry.  You'll get to see her plenty," he whispered.

Flowey’s last reset
I suppose that a lot of people (at least the ones I’ve discussed Undertale with) figure that by the time you meet Flowey at the beginning of the game, he was on one of his usual careless resets, in the middle of experimenting with people’s behaviour like usual. Hence his just-as-sudden attempt to kill you immediately.
Let me try to argue against that. I imagine that, far from being that usual and carefree moment that you found Flowey in, you actually found Flowey at his lowest point (and that’s saying a lot.) But to really get at how this looks like, let’s try and sketch out what his situation might have been like.
The key facts about Flowey’s resets are these:
When the player begins the game, the Underground is largely free of Flowey’s direct influence. This seems to indicate that Flowey has done nothing at all after his last reset, or at least very little to indicate his presence among the denizens of the Underground. With the exception of Alphys and Sans, no one seems to show awareness of his nature or existence until he reveals himself.
Flowey has explored every possibility, or at least enough to be tired of them. He claims that he’s read every book and burned every book. This might be literally true, or he might just be hyperbolic about it. The point is that there seems to be nothing new to do anymore. (An underlying premise here is that at this point, Flowey only really cares about novelty and things to entertain himself with.)
The story we know
Before the player character stumbles into the Underground, Flowey’s experiences take place. The story is familiar--Asriel wakes up one day as Flowey amidst the flowers in the throne room. He cannot feel love, whether from his mother or father. He attempts to leave the world, but his will to live overpowers and he finds himself back at the flower field, at the same place and time when he first awoke. This is Flowey’s save point, where everything resets to.
From that point on, Flowey begins his experimentation. He attempts to befriend everyone, but this does not save him nor does it fulfill him. So he resigns himself to toying with others’ fates, eventually reaching the conclusion that the characters in the game are nothing more than a collection of possible responses to given stimuli--control the stimuli and you control the person responding to them.
Through this experimentation, we’re led to believe that Flowey has RESET countless times. He has, to our knowledge, discovered every fact about the world he lives in--that he’s read and burned every book. Through the course of exhausting the possibilities that his environment offers him (Point 2 above) he isn’t looking for any fulfillment or joy, but mere entertainment.
The question is this: when does Undertale finally begin? At which point does Flowey simply lose control over the timeline? If it was during one of his many resets, like a chance occurence, then this would imply that Flowey was in the middle of experimenting still. But see Point 1 above; Flowey doesn’t seem to have meddled with the game itself in the timeline that the player finally arrives. Flowey wasn’t doing anything then.
Things will get a bit technical here.
Time shenanigans
To illustrate, let’s call the furthest point that Flowey reaches before resetting Point B. It could be any one of his experiments, but just one that entertained him for long enough before he decided to wipe the board clean and start again. From Point A (his reset point), to point B, any number of experiments could all take place at this time, but none of these last as long the time it takes to get to point B. If we said that Point A was the year 2000, and the longest time Flowey went with an experiment was 50 years, then Point B = 2050. If it was 75 years, then Point B = 2075.
If Undertale begins (the player falls into the Underground) when Flowey has not made any significant changes to the Underground, then it cannot begin any earlier than Point B. Otherwise, during one of his experiments the player would pop down, Undertale would begin, and we would see all the things Flowey has been doing up to that point, whether it be inciting a revolution against Asgore or reading one of many books. We would have caught Flowey when there was still something to be done. There wouldn’t have been that talk from Flowey about being bored or having read every book.
So Undertale must begin some time after Point B. But how long after Point B? It must have been a very long time where nothing seems to have changed, and no new development just “pops up” that would catch Flowey’s interest. If it did, he would probably start experimenting with that, and the furthest he goes with that would become another point B. So it must have been a very long time, so long that he can’t predict it, and so long that he can’t simply wait it out normally in eager anticipation. It could have even been a hundred years or a thousand, given the absurdly long lifespan of Asgore and Toriel, at least. But if Flowey really had no influence by the time the player character finally lands in the ruins, then it implies that Flowey did nothing for all that time.
What does that look like?
The last reset: a non-story
Our final story looks something like this: after many resets, many trials and many experiments, Flowey finally runs out of things to do. He’s seen the same routine everyone goes through, again and again. He knows what they will do and knows what would make them act otherwise. People have now finally become fully predictable and their daily lives completely trivial. The same birthdays, the same Christmases, the same New Years’ celebrations. Like the prisoner counting the number of cobblestones on his cell, and probably having done the same thing a few more times, he can’t even occupy himself with activity. The world grows cold and stale.
What difference would it have made if he was just trapped in an endless void now? He can’t bring himself to die, and he can’t bring himself to really live. And yet he continues to exist.
So one day, he just simply stops doing anything. And he doesn’t do anything for a long time, a time longer than he’s ever gone before. Time passes by and the world goes on, and he doesn’t do anything about it this time around. Maybe he just sleeps during that time. Maybe he just stops thinking at all, or stares at the wall just waiting for something else to happen. If he did think at all, he would know it would take nothing short of a miracle, something completely different from the Underground that he knows down to the tiniest speck of dust.
Would it make anything different if he was in the surface? Maybe he’d get more things to toy with and keep him busy for maybe a few thousand more years. Maybe this new miracle will at least provide him with one good bit of entertainment before it ends his pathetic life. That might give someone to hope for, but years upon years of waiting wear away at his anticipation until he doesn’t even have the thirst for the future anymore. So he doesn’t even wait. Just sits there, existing, while life goes through the same predictable show that it always has for all these years.
Then one day, someone does come. You come. And Undertale begins.

Earth Never Stops - Part 1 - Oreburgh Mines
Summary: Oreburgh Mine is Sinnoh’s only remaining source of coal and, as such, serves as its main source of electricity alongside Flowey Meadows’ countless wind turbines. It contains enough resources for years to come, but what may be more interesting to the casual tourist visiting the region is the presence of fossils in its rocks, waiting to be discovered between two coats of black ore. As such, it requires constant functioning and there has to be someone to manage the miners, right? Well, it works until the main gear fails: the foreman is, after all, only human.
Length: 2.5K words
Notes: Someone will have to smack my head into oblivion so I don't write that kind of shit ever again. I'm sorry for this, even if I know I'll probably continue to write it beyond reason. Let's hope this isn't the new Symphonie Cacophonie lmao The OCs are cameos of my PDV characters Luc Parillot (Luke) and Timothée "Tim" Ethan (Timothy).Huge thanks to Magnetism and their Auraverse, whose Roark's been an inspiration for my own interpretation of the character. http://archiveofourown.org/works/10698855 It's some good stuff so please check it out, it's worth a read much more than what you're about to read because it has more plot than, essentially, "mine sickfic".I have to expose some headcanons and stuff which count in this story: -I headcanon the Nurse Joy who appears in this as a "doctor" because she can also diagnose humans. Such a famous mine would have at least a bit of security, wouldn't it? -I know Machop is used for mining in the games, but I also added Geodude because it's literally a punching rock who can learn Rock Smash. -I don't know what a foreman does in a mine despite living in the north of France and having seen mine history here and there. Turns out having once visited a terril and Roubaix's La Piscine museum isn't enough to make you versatile in mining history and functioning. Hell, I even had to Google what a foreman was because I'm that terrible.Writing got me thinking: can you get OOC a character who doesn't have much dialogue in their original material?
AO3 version available here!
Oreburgh Mine is Sinnoh’s only remaining source of coal and, as such, serves as its main source of electricity alongside Flowey Meadows’ countless wind turbines. It contains enough resources for years to come, but what may be more interesting to the casual tourist visiting the region is the presence of fossils in its rocks, waiting to be discovered between two coats of black ore.
As such, it requires constant functioning and there has to be someone to manage the miners, right? The role goes to the foreman, who is always up. In any case, there’s a substitute, but he’s usually not in Oreburgh City since the foremen seems to have an iron health. Someone working in the mines would joke that their previous foreman eventually became Canalave City’s Iron-type Gym Leader.
The following and current foreman is the youngest they’ve had yet. Byron used to bring his son to the mine from time to time since the latter was a child, and some of the eldest miners remembered seeing a newly born Roark, twenty years before. It was like he was born with a pickaxe in his hands, and he was already excavating fossils when he was in elementary school. What was once a tease of Byron, “your son is gonna replace you before we know it”, became reality when the foreman left Oreburgh City for Canalave City, called by the League themselves to take care of its Gym after its previous Leader had retired.
Nobody was really surprised when the boy, the eighteen-year-old boy mind you, was picked by Byron as his successor. It was as if they had always been around Roark, and it had “only” been a bit more than a decade, but the transition felt natural. It didn’t mean he didn’t remain in the shadow his father, foreman for twenty years before him, to whom the miners were all attached, and some considered him their own father, in some way.
The foreman sub’s been missing for the twenty-fifth week in a row. “Where in the hell could he be?” isn’t a real question in the mines anymore: it’s more of a private joke. A question nobody really cares for the answer, and usually it’s replaced by the latest, funniest place to put in a conversation. Last time, it was someone’s ass. Maybe comedy isn’t their forte, but as long as it makes the other miners laugh, it’s all right.
Today, Luke is asking the question to Tim, who simply replies “In Canalave’s Gym, right where Former Boss lost to a ten-year old girl and her Gastrodon”. Tim then shots a look in their current foreman’s direction, only to notice he doesn’t even cringe at the teasing of his own dad.
“Boss,” Tim calls out, “you heard me? Your dad lost to a Gastrodon of everything. How ridiculous is that?”
“Oh, right,” the foreman responds with delay, “that’s right. Gastrodon. Canalave Gym.” He forces a snicker out of his mouth.
“How’s the Gym going?” Luke asks. It’s been ages since he’s taken a break in the Gym. Last time, he got to see a blonde-haired girl beat the Gym with a Turtwig and a Starmie of everything.
“It’s going… well I guess. I broke my latest lose streak yesterday…”
Luke and Tim look at each other. The former shots another look at Roark while the second one orders their Machops to work a bit on their own for now. Once they both thumb up each other, they get closer just so they can speak about stuff their foreman shouldn’t hear them talking about.
“There’s something wrong about the boss,” Luke tells him in a whisper. “He’s quieter than usual.”
“He may just be tired,” Tim replies, almost shrugging off Luke’s worried expression. “The boy’s also a Gym Leader and whatnot.”
“I could have sworn he was usually the first one to make jokes about how busy his life is. He doesn’t even bother with our jokes today!”
“Your dad instincts are playing again. This isn’t your daughter we’re speaking about, it’s the boss. Byron’s blood runs in his veins, he’s fine.”
Tim still looks at their foreman. His own face doesn’t seem as confident in his beliefs as before.
“On second thought, the boss looks a bit weird. He’s a bit slow too.”
“Right? The sub’s not here though, so he can’t entirely leave us without having another foreman to make sure it’s secure.”
“I don’t want to interrupt you on purpose, but I think he’s looking this way. Let’s go back to work and discuss that after lunch.”
While he mines, Tim stumbles upon what looks like a fossil, a weird one of that. He swears he has never seen such a fossil before, despite having worked there for twenty years. His scientist of a husband walks behind him.
“Mark,” he calls him out, “come check out that fossil. I don’t think I’ve seen one like that before.”
The scientist walks to the rock and examines it carefully with his gloves and glasses.
“It’s a Helix Fossil. They’re usually found in Kanto, but there are some in the Underground. It’s very rare to see such a big one in a mine.”
“What about we tell the boss? I’m sure he’s going to lost it in front of it!”
“I’ll let you get him then.”
That’s what Tim does. He goes the fastest he can to his foreman, who’s in another part altogether of the mine, probably making sure the Machops trained to dig alone do their job correctly and safely. He swears he can hear some pants and maybe some coughing echoing between the rocky walls. Finding him and his red hard hat isn’t difficult, and it doesn’t take long for the miner to join his “boss”.
“Boss, Boss, I found something incredible! Come check it out!” he screams in the mine, getting the attention of Pokémons around him.
“What is it…?” a weak voice replies to him, as the foreman turns towards him. His helmet isn’t put on correctly, which is weird for someone as cautious as him on security for everyone inside the mine.
“I found a very rare fossil according to Mark. I thought I should at least tell you so you can check it out later.”
“Works for me… Oh, if you’re here, can you check out on the other miners for me a bit? Tell them I’ll check up on them once I’m done here…”
“Sure thing, Boss.”
“Thank you…”
Tim finally gets what Luke meant earlier. He would ask him if he was alright, or something alike, but he has a job to do and the boss probably doesn’t like to be bothered with such questions. He’s probably just tired and focused on whatever he’s doing. He’s a bit hesitant to get to his previous working spot, but he still makes his way there.
Suddenly, he feels something grapping his pants. He looks at what could possibly be clutching his leg: a Geodude. Wait, this can’t be a wild Geodude, there isn’t any wild Pokémon left in that zone of the mine. The fluorescent band it has around its left arm immediately tells him it belongs to the boss. It seems to cry for help.
Tim lowers to the rock Pokémon’s level.
“What is it, big guy?” he asks it.
Geodude points to the back of this section of the mine with its other arm, its face void of its usual anger, replaced with worry. What can it possibly be worried for? This doesn’t reassure the miner at all.
“You want me to follow you there?”
The Rock-type Pokémon jumps around a bit as it lets go of his pants before starting to make his way to where they both come from. Tim decides to follow: there may be someone trapped under rocks that fell, or there may be an Aron they need to take care of.
He decides to run back there instead of walking, as he’s afraid someone got jeopardized. On the way there, he recognizes the specially-trained Machops looking a bit panicked, just like the Geodude he’s following. This doesn’t sit well within him: the only person he’s seen there for a while is Roark. If their foreman has found death between rocks, they’re pretty much fucked for the remaining century. They’ll probably all get fired too. He doesn’t realize he’s crossing fingers.
The Geodude, unfortunately, brings him where he spoke to his boss barely minutes ago. The lack of light, which he finds weird because it was lit just fine before, makes it so he has to turn on his own helmet’s headlight. He can hear the usual sound of pants, something entirely ordinary in itself, aside form the fact he’s never heard these pants in particular. This can’t be good at all.
The miner stops right in his track as the Geodude goes next to the person lying on the floor of the mine. This can’t be possible. He must be in some kind of weird dream, and he has to find a way to wake up. He still runs to the lying body, just like the Pokémon before him.
“Boss?!” he yells as he kneels next to the other man. “Hey, Boss, this isn’t time to sleep! You gotta wake up, this is a mine!”
Tim puts a hand on his shoulder and shakes it off in an attempt to wake the guy up, to no success. He just knows he’s alive: he can hear his breathing, which sounds ragged if not difficult.
“What the fuck do I do…?” Tim says to himself, truly wondering what he can do with an unconscious Roark, the latter’s pickaxe and excavation kit, a Geodude and five autonomous Machops around him. The pickaxe and the kit can wait, really. The Pokémons, a bit less. He just hopes the only idea he has will work…
His foot hits a lone Pokéball which rolls until he grabs it. He finds five of them near it, all marked with a special sticker representing the Coal Badge on them.
“Geodude, come back,” he says as he points the ball towards the Pokémon in question, successfully calling him back. He’s surprised that even worked.
“Guys, you too, come back,” he then says as he points each ball to the Machop group, once again ending in pure success. He puts away the balls in the bag near him before taking it and putting it over his shoulder.
It’s with a pained look and an ache in his heart that he takes his foreman in his arms. He feels incredibly light for a miner: it may be him who is pretty strong, or the boy being a lightweight when he’s unconscious, or just both at the same time. He’ll ask for the guys to get the pickaxe and kit later: for now, there’s something more urgent than recovering some mining tools, no matter how important they are to Roark.
It takes a bit of time, and Tim feels like he’s carrying a statue made out of glass when, clearly, he shouldn’t. He braces himself for everybody else’s reaction: he just hopes it’s not too bad, otherwise they’ll have issues, and nobody wants to cause a coal lack in the entire region, not to mention none of them want harm to their foreman for Arceus’s sake!
He gets to remember it’s noon and lunch time when he reaches his usual zone of work, which is next to the entrance, so not many people are around. The less, the better. However, the nearest infirmary-like area he knows of is already outside of the mines: he has to walk past everyone else to bring their boss where someone can say what exactly happened to him.
Luke spots him from the entrance and runs to him, his own face filled with anything but joy.
“What happened to him?!” he screams, eyes fixated on the carried one.
“I don’t know… I was telling him about the fossil discovery I had made, but as I left his Geodude grabbed my leg and made me follow it, and when I arrived he was already knocked out…” Tim replies. “We don’t have time to waste, I have to bring him somewhere.”
“Wait a second. I need to check something…”
Luke rises the foreman’s helmet a little and puts his naked hand first on his forehead, then on the other man’s one, before almost cringing in a hiss.
“That’s what I thought. He’s running one hell of a fever man.”
“A fever?! He’s been sick all that time?! Quick, we have to run to the infirmary! Inform the others please!”
“Roger that.”
Tim isn’t walking at the speed of a Dunsparce now: no, he’s fucking running for someone else’s life to their infirmary, hoping there’s their usual doctor there. He can trust Dr Taylor to be there, right? She’s always there for them, she’ll be there for Roark too. That’s one unusual case for them all, and he hopes his hardest it’ll be alright.
Honestly, he’s afraid shitless when he kicks the door to knock, his hands obviously unavailable to do so. The pink-haired woman opens the door and she looks like she’s going to scold the hell out of him for kicking the door.
“Hello, Timothy. Why makes you behave like a Growlithe all of a…” she starts to tell him before her voice comes to a halt.
As soon as she sees his face then lowers her eyes, her face takes a sharp turn.
“Oh goodness… Put him on the bed,” she reacts as her thumb points to the inside, “I’ll see what’s wrong.”
He executes her orders and, soon enough, they’re both in the room, looking over the third person in the bed. After taking off the red helmet, he lets her examine his boss, more anxious than he’s been in ages, as she silently works on him.
“What does he have, doctor?” Tim asks.
“It seems like exhaustion and overwork has caught to him,” she replies in a much calmer voice. “He should be all right as long as he rests for a few days.”
“But…”
“Before you say it,” Dr Joy replies in a sadder tone, “I know Mr Roark has a very busy life and probably can’t afford many break days, especially since the summer rush is about to start. However, I can’t let him work when he overworked himself to illness like this.”
“Then, what can we do?”
“We’ll have to see that as soon as possible. I’ll have to call the substitute foreman by myself to justify his suddenly needed presence… Please go take your break, Timothy. Just tell the other miners about the situation, will you?”
“Sure thing. See ya later, Dr Joy.”
“See you.”
Tim can’t shake the situation off his head as he walks to his friends and workmates, lost in thoughts, hoping someone finds a solution real fast unless they all want to get in some serious troubles. The less they see the director of Fuego Inc, the better, especially when Roark isn’t here to discuss the matter with his own boss.
He sits next to Mark and unpacks his lunch as he summarizes the situation, a work already started by Luke. The summery air of early June around them all feels heavy, all of a sudden.

The Door to the RUINS has Opened.
SANS (BZ):  Sans' eye lights move up again, to watch Gaster and his diagrams as he  goes. There is no real response from him during all of this. At least,  until the end that is. The skeleton grunts as he pushes himself up  more and smiles again faintly.
There is real warmth in it. Rare as it typically was, he appreciated  what his father was doing. But the weight of his own sins was now  coming down upon his back. Like it or not, this was his perceived  doing. And he would have to deal with the consequences of it in his  own way.
It was very much his way of coping. His own grieving process. There is  a chuckle as he struggles to rise. He had to do that first. Stand on  his own two feet again. Accept the gravitas of his situation. So he  does.
 * i like it, i do. not giving up. that's been my thing for a while now  believe it or not. --least, as far as temptation and stuff goes  anyway.
 * can't really say i'm the most productive guy around when it comes to  my melancholy. but i'll give it a try.
 * let's identify what's ailing me.
SANS (BZ):  The skeleton pushes his weight off of the tree, lurching forward into  a steady walking pace. His right hand moves into his jacket pocket to  rest comfortably as his other lifts a single digit up. He begins to  list them off, one by one carefully.
 * the anomaly's taken my home from me by completely wiping the slate  clean. this is on top of all the other problems.
 * keno reviles us, now collectively. so even if her memories were  restored, it's kind of a blessing in disguise. i'd love to redeem  myself somehow. but let's be realistic.
 * she's got a much better heart than either of us, and less time for  it to have hardened. a creature of habit, not logic.
 * i feel like with what i did to frisk, there's no coming back from  that. best i can hope for is a messy break up. heh heh.
 * then there's the kid themselves. that's not frisk. they're probably  gone. a new flowey's also taken the place of the old. beyond you and  papyrus? i'm completely alone again.
DOCTOR GASTER: The Doctor waited, sitting by the tree still, watching Sans even as he walked away.
His presence would GLITCH from existence again, now walking besides  the skeleton.
"A messy breakup seems to be what you received. For... Keno? She will  be used against you, against the dragon, regardless of whether or not  she knows her involvement.
Personal feelings aside, giving her an idea of what may well decide to  hunt her down, and 'rebooting' her may be worth the screaming. I would  offer to delete some of the memories, but that would ruin the point.  She wanted her mind to be her own.
Even to this point, I would respect that wish. It's still 'her,' after  all."
He pauses, one hand folding behind his back, the other checking his  wrist, as if looking at a watch.
"I could have the code returned to her in under two hours, if I can  get her to cooperate. Twice that to force the backup. Being realistic,  that gives you another support other than your brother, and the  estranged father whose every action you are stressed to judge and  scrutinize. For your sake too, I believe that to be a more preferable  solution.
...And, Sans.  They've taken away the home I was trying so hard to return to, too. I  don't think we can get it back, but we CAN do everything in our power  to ensure that this one isn't taken away from us."
Gaster's arm folds behind him, joining the first.  "The more time we spend here, the closer the child grows to Papyrus,  and the closer they grow to your guard post. A pacifist thus far, so  with luck they'll give up for a while after he concusses them for the  first time and locks them up in the shed."
SANS (BZ):  Sans remains silent at this. Mulling over his options. What Gaster has  told him he could do. A seemingly simple solution. But he himself  stated the obvious. Keno was her own Monster. And he would take full  responsibility for what had happened. No matter how grim that fate  would be.
If he rebuilt his life, it would be on his own terms. Not constantly  at the mercy of fate or greater powers. It was the mantle he chose to  wear after the Dragon. One he would continue to wear out of nothing  else, spite.
 * this is how i chose to persevere.
 * keno's memories come back of their own accord, or they don't at all.  i imagine some part of her is still void bound, right..?
DOCTOR GASTER:  "No. That is the issue."  "She is completely back to her default."
SANS (BZ):  * then. i'll continue doing what i have to do. if she doesn't want to  find the truth again, or it fails to be out there.. that's that.  that's my choice. leave her be.
 * i didn't want this for her from the very beginning.
 * game over, old man. was a good run.
DOCTOR GASTER:  The Doctor frowns, listening to Sans' resolve, his statements.  He could respect them, no matter his own feelings.
"I see. There is always the chance that the cycle will repeat. Or it  has adapted to include such... anomalous, events into its greater  breadth."
"...Remember, Sans. The 'game' is not over until your bones are dust,  and even then. Kehehe... If nothing else, I'm 'unliving proof' of  that, yes?"
SANS (BZ):  * i'll embrace a different kind of hope for now, i think. mind giving  me a bit? just to kind of. process all of this? i'm gonna go to  grillby's. didn't get the chance to do that when i said i would  earlier.
The skeleton's grin is more wistful as his arms rise out of his jacket  pockets to complete an almost iconic shrug. One that didn't ever  really present itself in any timeline unless met in the gravest  extreme. He continues to head onward. DOCTOR GASTER: The Doctor watches Sans, and allows a sigh to leak from him.  "...Of course, Sans.  If you need anything, I'll have you in my peripherals.  I should check on Muffet, too.  It's all falling apart."
Gaster pauses momentarily before speaking again.  "Sans, I'll leave periodic notes in your lab, behind the house. If  anything worthwhile comes up, You'll be one of the first to know.
...For what it's worth, we're all each other has now. You and Papyrus  are the only things giving me a reason to continue, and if I can find  anything out there to offer reciprocation for you two?
 Then so be it."
SANS (BZ):
 * it means a lot more to me than i let on, you know.
 * thanks.
Truthfully, Sans had forgotten how to show proper gratitude over the  many years. His responses were nearly automatic, half the time. Not  this one. Not this time. There was too much bubbling near the surface.
That was a potentially bad thing, but better than total apathy one  could muse. A gentle wave is offered to the air in front of him. He  doesn't stop his retreat.
DOCTOR GASTER:  The elder skeleton bows to no one in particular, fading from  existence.
His presence dissipates, but his watchful eye and tumultuous  thoughts  raced, trying to find a clear object for the rogue SEED to become.

Roleplay Server Log #246
“BUFF, Flux in Control, Quest for Cp and Lie”
- / player BuffNOTCH has joined the server / -
[Bn] Appears with a heavy thump. He's a basic NOTCH but as big as an iron golem, his smile is huge and his greeting is incredibly loud and friendly- HELLO Wow... Did I spawn into a party? You guys have a really diverse server! Nice to meet you all! Where's my Herobrine?
[Doc] Jaw drop and the statick dribbles on the grass, messing up its color at hir feet.
[Stevie] - Wha...  What?
[aven] -has also shown up leaving ben with hyrule but he gave her his ocarina-
[Zly Wilk] shares an uncertain look with Lazur. They both lower their weapons to appear less threatening, but stay back and stay at the ready.
-Mix head tilt-
[Yaunfen] - Mada?  Who that?
[Bn] I'm BuffNOTCH! But you can call me Buff! So seriously! I see lots of brines, which ones mine?
[Doc] I guess that would be me...
[Buff] Strolls up- Wooow a dragon. Neat! We should arm wrestle sometime! I'll go easy on you- arm flex and playful wink-
[Stevie] - What the Nether is going on?
[Mix] -Softly, to Sky- ...What?
[gem] -is confused but is maintaining the lasers-
[Lazur] - looks at Zly with a surprised look and a shrug before putting her sword away. [Zly Wilk] - is still apprehensive, holds his staff like a walking stick. He looks closely at Doc, trying to read hir and judge how best to proceed.
[Buff] So what's going on? You guys look pretty tense. You should do more stretching exercises to loosen up. [TLOT] Shakes his head and addresses Stevie - from what I can glean someone deleted Dn and this is the result. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to take my husband to the bar and get utterly drunk.
[Crim] - relaxes and scuttles a little closer, curious.
[Doc] scuffs the statick that's pooled on the grass to despawn it.
[Stevie] - I...  I don't...  What?
[Yaunfen] - Mada?
[Zly Wilk] - aside to Stevie - I take it this isn't a normal occurrence, even by this seed's standards?
[Flowey] Can I go now?
[Mix] I.. yeah, I guess.
-Flowey does the abscond-
[Stevie] - No, not at all...  And I'm still confused as to where my brother is, he'd never miss out on fighting a NOTCH...
[Buff] Is just looking around- bit of a grim spawn but the headstone signs are pretty funny-
[Doc] I take it... you're not here to start anything?
[Buff] Not unless you're not taking care of yourself! HAHAH
[Buff] Looks at Crim - hey little fella! You're cute. - pats Crim on the head-
[Crim] - blinks in confusion. - Big no steps?
[Doc] Loafs - good grief- Xe turns to check in Deerheart. - Love? It's safe. Are you okay?
[Deer] Gives no response, her colors are still very dull and her breathing is shallow-
[Buff] Huh? - pats his pockets. - maybe I have a cookie?
[gem] -realizes he is friendly retracts her mist puts on her bracelets and lands with her guardians-
[Doc] Nudges her- Deerheart? -
[Yaunfen] - Mama...
[Doc] pulls out a bowl of the healing slime and smears a small line over her chest like icy hot- wake up sweetheart...
[Deer] Gives no response-
[Zly Wilk] - stows his staff with a mixure of relief and regret and turns to Lazur - Ok... We should get back to fixing your speech program.
[Buff] At Gem - lots a hands to shake here! - Goes for a shake with one hand and a fist bump with the other.
[Doc] Calls out for Flux, hir panic growing
[Mix] Well, atleast he's friendly? -pets the now perching Firebird and steps back a bit-
[gem] -shakes his hand with one of hers and the guardians fist bump-
[Flux] - I hear you, but I cannot come to you
[Buff] does a quick movement and suddenly Gem has cookies in two of her hands- haha!
[Doc] I have to go... Flux, I'm coming.
[gem] -puts her sugar cookies in her other two hand- would you like one?
[Stevie] - I'll go with you Doc
[Flux] Is still kneeling where she was earlier-
[Buff] Nah I just carry em for kids and such, not a big sugar  person.
[Buff] Offers Crim a cookie as well-
[gem] I like sugar but I don't need it or other foods.
[Crim] - sniffs then shakes head no. - Smell wrong, make stomach hurt. No thank.
[Doc] walks gingerly back to where Flux is, hir legs still shaking from all the leftover adrenaline. - Flux... She passed out....
[Buff] Oh! Okay.
[Flux] - I know, I managed to stop it in time
[Doc] Stop what?
[Flux] - She used so much energy, the seed tried to reclaim her, to protect her.  We servers are not meant to do what she just did.  We are meant to protect not destroy.  For the time being I am in control of the server
[Doc] Curls around her, crying softly - Thank you Flux... I owe you so much. I would be lost without her.
[Flux] - It shouldn't take her too long to recover since DN has been replaced by another
[Buff] So who's who? How come there are so many brines here?
[Stevie] Goes into Lie's house and then comes back out, scratching his head in confusion as Hope and the Vulpix's run outside-
[Zly Wilk] - cranes his neck to look at Buff - I'm Zly, this is my partner Lazur. We are former.... Well.... "Fixers"... That ended up seeking sanctuary here after our last mission went bad.
[Buff] Capital! Always good to have people to patch things up on big servers! I understand multiplayer can be rowdy! Thankfully I can bounce and ban hammer with the best!
[Mix] I'm Mix, this is Firebird!
[Sky] I'm Sky.
[Firebird] -chorp-
[Buff] You look very fit and hearty miss! And your pet looks in good health too. Good job! What an unusual Enderman!
[Firebird] -Sound similar to laughter-
[Stevie] Approaches Doc- Doc...  I can't find my brother anywhere around here, or Lie
[Zly Wilk] we specialized in viruses, malicious programs, even.... harmful glitches from time to time..... but it was always fun ChatBot hunting when we would get the chance. -chuckles-
[gem] my name is gem and these are my guardians
[aven] i'm aven
[hg] -is behind a tree because he is a little scared- my name is HG
[Buff] Annoyingly loud- Nice to meet all of you! So fill me in, what do I need to know? My brine skittered off, but I'm sure I'll catch up to them soon enough.
[Notch] Was helping Stevie look-  I hate to say it, but I think he ran and hid. It would make sense with everything that's happened lately.
[Stevie] - Who knows how far he went...
[aven] I am heading back to ben and hyrule -heads off-
[Doc] Well he didn't leave the server. And I should be able to use the admin functions to find him. I think it's just a matter of talking him down.
[Buff] Waves to Aven-
[Flux] - At least his mate is with him
[Doc] True. - Xe's unconsiously grooming Deerheart's hair with hir claws. - He probably just wanted to protect her.
[Yaunfen] - Why Mada doing that?
[Doc] Doing what? Oh! Just... I want her to know I'm here. Keeping her warm, watching over her. She takes such good care of me...
[Yaunfen] - Oh, can I help?
[Notch] Flux... are you okay? You look uncomfortable...
[Doc] If you want, sweetheart. Curl up with us.
[Flux] - I will be fine, although I will be unable to move from this spot until Deer is ready to take control again
[Yaunfen] Curls up between them-
[Notch] Oh dear! Can you at least sit down?
[Flux] - If I am careful, it is just that my fingers cannot leave the ground, that is where the connection is
[Notch] Shit... Um, I'll help! - He opens the creative and then carefully maneuvers a stairblock under her butt so she's sitting, albeit a little awkwardly.
[Flux] - Thank you Notch
[Notch] Give me a few ticks, I'll build a little shelter around you so you don't get rained on. - starts pulling out materials-
[Hope] Starts playing with the end of Doc's tail-
[Zly Wilk] We are rather new here ourselves, Buff, so we don't know many of the locals, but i can tell you that your Brine has made something wonderful here.... A sanctuary where all those who have been persecuted, those looking for a second chance at a new life, can find a safe space to call home.
In all my Cycles I've never seen anything like it, and the inhabitants here would protect their home and their friends to the death, if it came to that.
[Doc] Flicks it a little bit with a soft smile so the cat can play.
[Buff] Hot damn. Looks like I hit the jackpot assignment-wise! I guess I won't be needed for bodyguard duty much, huh?
[Hope] Tackles it while the Alolan Vulpix tries to get the other one to play-
[HG] -tries to get closer to buff-
[Buff] Turns a huge radiant smile on HG - You're grubby! Been playing football or something?
[HG] -in a shy voice- no I garden I have a lot of plants I take care of so I am in the dirt a lot.
[Zly Wilk] it's a pretty peaceful seed, yeah. Not to say there aren't 'family squabbles' now and then. You may see some dust ups amongst the Brines, but we all pretty much take care of our own when the chips are down.
[Deer] Starts stirring-
[Buff] I love it, on both counts! - Gives Hg a friendly swat on the shoulder. - It's always good to get outside! Breathe some fresh air and get dirty!
[Doc] Gives her the tiniest sad lick on the cheek-
[Deer] - Doc?
[HG] -falls over because he wasn't expecting the swat-
[Doc] I'm here...
[Buff] Whoops! Sorry little guy! - He picks up Hg like he doesn't weigh anything and sets him on his feet again.
[Deer] - What...  What happened?
[HG] thank you
[Doc] Some kind of secondary protocal. It must have been part of the last update and I didn't notice it. You deleted Dn, and the system generated a new NOTCH to take his place...
[Buff] No problem!
[Deer] - A new one?
[Doc] Yeah... he's a bit odd.... but he seems friendly enough.
[Deer] - If you say so...  I feel weird...
[Flux] - That's most likely because you're not fully connected to the seed at the moment
[Notch] Has already put up some walls and is now building a cute little roof over her head.
[Deer] - I'm not fully connected?  What's wrong?  What's happening?
[Doc] She's in control for the moment. She was waiting for you to recover fully.
[Deer] - Flux, you didn't have to...
[Flux] - Yes I did, the seed would have taken you back to save you
[Doc] You saved me and she saved you.
[Deer] - Then thank you Flux
[Flux] - You are very welcome
[Lazur] - makes a series of noises like out of the old Q*Bert game -
[Zly Wilk] It's not my business to ask. We are NOT the Guardians of this seed.
-gets a pleading look from his partner- oh.... Alright.  Buff, pardon my asking. We've had some run ins with some bad characters that have dropped in... What exactly IS your assignment here?
[Buff] Shrugs- NOTCHs are assigned to Herobrines. We're just supposed to keep an eye on them and make sure they don't cause a ton of chaos and drive the human players away.
[Zly Wilk] -grins broadly- Then yeah, I think you got yourself a pretty easy assignment.
[Buff] Then just let me know if you need any heavy things moved around. - Laughs-
[Mix] What kind of heavy stuff counts?
[Buff] Anything!
[Zly Wilk] - laughs- well, we need to head over to check in on our friends. care to follow?  - in chat - Doc, where you guys at?
[Doc] Chat- At Lie's house
[Mix]! Can you carry me???
[Zly Wilk] Chat - ok... Bringing our new friend.
[Buff] Sure! Shall I take the bird too?- He picks her up one handed and puts her on his shoulder.
[Mix] Nice! *giddy Laugh
[firebird] *chirp
[Buff] Puts the big bird on his other shoulder and faces Zly - Lead the way!
[Sky] - amused snort -
[Zly Wilk] - heads off towards Lie's house at a brisk pace and soon they arrive -
[Stevie] Waves in greeting-
[Buff] Looks at Deerheart laying down, and Flux in her tiny house. - Uhh? Everything okay over here?
[Deer] - I'm not sure
[Doc] It's just been a stressful day...
[Zly Wilk] -waves back and approches Stevie, whispers - Do me a favor? When things settle down, have Doc contract me? - makes sure Lazur is out of earshot - I have a coding issue that i could use some help on.
-Mix blep -
[Stevie] - Huh?  Uh, sure...
[Buff] Hey another NOTCH! I think?
[Notch] I'm the original... Markus.
[Buff] Neat.
[Hope] Mews at Buff, sniffing him-
[Buff] Can't reach down for the cat without dislodging Mix and Firebird - Good kitty.
[Deer] Sits up a bit more- It feels weird, not being fully connected to the server that is...
[Zly Wilk] Thanks. With all that is going on, figured it could wait. - gestures to Deer, Flux, and Buff before walking over and joining Lazur.
[Lazur] - teleports them both back to their camp in the woods -
[Doc] Well you're registered as a player, so it's not like you're in total limbo with the system.
[Stevie] Eyes Buff a little nervously-
-mix, contently blepping on Buffs shoulder while Firebird preens on the other -
[Buff] Hey, a Steve! What's shaking big guy? - Offered fist bump.
[Stevie] - Ummm...- He isn't sure what to do
[Doc] Makes a little motion and bumps hir knuckles together-
[Stevie] Tentatively bumps fists-
[Buff] All right!
[Stevie] Steps away and trips over the Vulpix's which then scatter-
[snake] -comes from the direction of gem's house because he stayed behind because they though there was going to be a fight he make a kazoo noise so no one steps on him-
[CN] Is sniffling in the dog house, Lie's wolves nudging him and trying to make him happier-
[Yaunfen] Happily nuzzles Deer- Mama...
[Deer] Gives Yaunfen a gentle pet-
[Notch] Finishes the tiny house and looks around. - Hey, where's Cn? Do you think Cp and Lie actually took him too?
[Doc] I doubt it...
[Buff] Hears the kazoo and looks around- Did someone fart?
[Flux] - Dog pen
[snake] I am no fart I am a snake
[Notch] I'll go look.
[CN] Is sitting in a corner, knees drawn up to his chest-
[Mix] Hey Snake! *wave from Buff;s shoulder
[Buff] Oh! You're tiny! Sorry!
[Notch] Cn? - ventures inside- Cn...
[CN] Wipes his eyes- Go away
[snake] I am very tiny compared to the other guardians but I still have a great impact
[Notch] Are you sure you wouldn't prefer someone to tell your troubles too?
[CN] - NO!
[Notch] Well then you can be quiet, but you're still coming with me. - He scoops up the small child and hugs him before making his way back to the group-
[CN] Still crying-
[Doc] Sees Markus approaching and Cn crying. - Oh...
[Buff] Walks to meet them- Hey little NOTCH, why so many tears?
[CN] Turns away from Buff-
[Deer] - CN...  I'm sorry...
[CN] - NO YOU'RE NOT!
[Doc] You'll understand when you're older I think...
[CN] - NO!  HE WAS MY FRIEND!
[Deer] - But you weren't his CN
[Notch] He wasn't a nice person at all. I know you cared about him, but he didn't care about anyone but himself. Honestly.
[CN] - But he helped me get feathers!
[Doc] So did I. You have other friends Cn...
[CN] - NO!  First you take DN away and then the big meanie took my brine somewhere and I don't know where!
[Buff] Dn?
[Doc] Your predessor was... fired from his post.
[Buff] Hm. Well, lucky for me, I guess?
[Notch] Cp just bolted because he was afraid Cn. We'll find him and Lie.
[CN] Huffs and hides his face away-
[Buff] I'll be your friend kiddo. Us NOTCH's gotta stick together.
[CN] - No!  I don't want you
[Buff] Well, not now. But you might change your mind later.
[CN] - No
[Buff] Okay...
[Notch] He's just upset.
[Buff] I can see that.
[Doc] Checking on Deerheart -
[Deer] - I think I'll be alright...
[Buff] What if I help you find your Herobrine, kid?
[CN] Glances at Buff-
[Buff] Best winning smile-
-Mix blep-
[CN] Isn't sure but wants to find Lie-
[Notch] I think I should stay here. Someone has to watch Lie's animals and Flux can't move.
[Buff] I'm ready for anything!
[Doc] I'm in. I can use my pinpoint to find them. But I don't think tping to them directly would be a good thing. Cp might freak even more and leave the seed.
[Deer] - That would be bad
[Doc] So we're just going for a walk. Who's in?
[Deer] - I don't know if I should go...  I'm probably what scared CP...
[snake] take me
[Mix] I'm comfy, so I'm coming.
[Firebird] -Chirp-
[Buff] If someone hands me Snake I can carry him too.
[Doc] Deerheart... I still feel like you should come. Especially in this diminished state. I want you close to me in case theres a problem. I'll just carry you.
[Deer] - Alright
[Yaunfen] - Mada!  I come?
[Doc] Of course! I don't want to leave you alone either.
[Notch] Will you stay here and help me tend to Lie's animals Cn? Or go with them?
[CN] Muffled- I don't know...
[Stevie] - I can help you Father, I know Lie has a lot of animals
[Firebird] -Easily scales down Buff to pluck Snake up before returning to his spot, threading the tiny being into his feathers-
[Notch] I think you should stay here. They'll be back with Lie soon enough.
[CN] Quietly- Okay...
[snake] I ride once again -is making sure to stay on firebirds back-
[Doc] Yaunfen? Climb up on me and help your mom stay on my shoulders okay? I'm trusting you.
[Yaunfen] - Okay Mada!- Xe clambers up
[Deer] Pulls herself up as well-
[Flux] - Don't worry Deer, I will tend to the server for now, you just rest
[Doc] I'm gonna walk, just go to sleep if you need too.
[Deer] - Thank you love
[Buff] Do we need to take anything? [Doc] No, I have access to creative. Though we might be gone a few days, he's pretty far out. It's probably for the best, give him time to cool down. - heads for the woods
-The Vulpix's watch them leave curiously-
[Stevie] - Good luck!
[Doc] Thanks Stevie!
[Buff] So... Why did he run off? Is he just super timid?
[Yaunfen] - Big fire strong! Mada, we go on adventure?
[Doc] Yes we are sweetie, especially for you, you've hardly ever left sight of the spawn so far. And Yaunfen is correct Buff. Cp is really strong, he's just had some really horrific experiences with his own NOTCH, and he's super protective of his wife.
[Deer] - His NOTCH isn't nearly as friendly as you Buff
[Mix] *kick legs a bit, listening
[Buff] Huh, must be an older model. Upon spawning I was shown a small warning that if I killed my Herobrine I would not be assigned to another.  I'd prefer to do a good job. Just watching players grief each other all day long sounds far more dull then hanging out with a Herobrine.
[Deer] - CP's NOTCH has killed other NOTCH'S
[Buff] I'm not entirely sure, but I think you're not supposed to do that...
[Doc] I would hope not, but then I'm kind of an optimist -  Xe trots across the air blocks to ford a little stream.
[Buff] Kicks over a tree and uses it to cross behind them -
-it's a lovely sunny day and the air is full of the little sounds of peaceful mobs -
[Yaunfen] - But Big Fire Notch here...
[Doc] Oh? You mean Markus? That's his dad, not his AI NOTCH. It's different
[Yaunfen] - How?
[Deer] Feels as if she's viewing the world anew again without her connection to it-
[Buff] If this Markus guy is his dad it means he had a hand in making Cp what he is, literally or figuratively? Right? NOTCHs are assigned to Brines in all kind of different roles. We might pose as relations if we can get there right when a brine is spawning, but we really aren't.
[Doc] Sounds about right to me...
- they crest a hill and the trees open out into a plains biome dotted with grazing sheep and wandering horses. The bit of breeze carries just a hint of the sea.
[Deer] - CP's original NOTCH took the role of his and Stevie's, the Steve you meet earlier, father
[Yaunfen] - Horsies!
[Buff] Is he around somewhere too?
[Doc] Sadly no, he was injured by another NOTCH and his code fell apart.
[Buff] Oh. I'm sorry.
[Deer] - At least CP was there in his final moments
[Yaunfen] Slips off Doc to run after some of the horses-
[Doc] Hey where you going without Mada? - Xe picks up the pace a bit to run with the horses as well
[Buff] Are you trying to catch one?
[Doc] Just having some fun, get the wind in my mane!
[Yaunfen] - Run! Run!
[Buff] Breaks into a run despite his passengers and catches up with them easily
-A couple horses kick out at them-
[Deer] - Be careful Yaunfen
[Doc] They spook easy, stay to the side where they can see you easy
[Yaunfen] Slows a little- But miss Lie gets behind them
[Doc] Maybe she knows something I don't... Just be careful.
[Buff] Woo!
- there's a bit of change in the terrain as it loads in, revealing a thin strip of jungle butting against some mountains.
[Doc] Hey Yaunfen, look at this! -Points to a few parrots flirting about
[Buff] pokes firebird playfully- relatives of yours?
-The horses scatter rather then flee into the jungle-
[Deer] - We should get some more feathers for CN
[Firebird] -Roll eyes a bit and sticks talons out to flick Buff-
[Buff] Chuckles- no need to get pinchy. Just playing.
[Doc] They're so small though. I don't want to kill them. Maybe we should just give him one for a pet when we get back.
[Deer] - We'll see how well he can take care of it...
[Buff] A pet is a good way to teach kids responsibility!
[Doc] Notices a bit of ruined masonry and sticks hir head under the canopy of trees- Aww, it didn't spawn fully.
-There's just a small part of a jungle temple hidden in the underbrush.
[Yaunfen] - Pet?
[Buff] Looks up at Mix- so what's your story? I understand female Herobrines are decently unusual.
[Doc] Pets are small animals adopted into families Yaunfen. Like LH, he's my pet cat. Technically Grinny is mine too since I had to register an owner to get him in respawn.
[Mix] -Shrugs a bit and wiggles legs back and forth- I Travel and help out where I can. This lug ended up stuck with me. -reach over to pat the firebird-
[Yaunfen] - Are there big pets for big families?
[Doc] Yep, Gir is pretty big, isn't Xe?
[Yaunfen] - Uh huh!
[Buff] Nice! - he really gets a good look at Firebird- Been hiding long [string of numbers] ?
[Firebird] -Softer chirp and slight squish down into a feather ball-
[Firebird] -Slight nod-
[Yaunfen] Sniffs the air- Chocolate! Chocolate!
[Buff] That's understandable, it's hard out there. And you feel like a older model NOTCH.
[Doc] Yep! Jungles are where cocoa beans grow. Just stay where we can see you.
[Firebird] -nods a bit more and ceases being a feather ball-
[Mix] I've known him a long time. Saved my life like... Twice. Ish.
[Yaunfen] Is sniffing around, weaving between tree's trying to find the cocoa beans-
-An ocelot is startled and bounds away from Yaunfen with an annoyed meow-
[Yaunfen] - Kitty!
[Doc] Yep. LH looked like that  before I tamed him.
[Buff] Scratches Firebirds ruff gently- is he actually your NOTCH Mix?
[Deer] Is starting to doze off-
[Yaunfen] Spots some cocoa beans and tries to reach them- Mada...  I can't reach!
[Doc] gently plucks the pods and puts them at Yaunfen's feet- you and me will have to practice tree-climbing soon. Since you don't have any wings.
[Doc] Hears Deerheart's soft noises and smiles- mama is so tired...
[Yaunfen] gnaws on a pod, having a bit of difficulty opening it-
[Mix] Nah. He's someone else's.
[Yaunfen] - Mada, I can't get open!
[snake] -climbs on the firebirds head and make a kazoo noise-
[Doc] I'll fix it. - Xe draws a claw across it like a zipper, melting the edges open. - Just scoop em out.
[Yaunfen] Lets tongue out to lick the inners out-
[Doc] Takes a moment to pick around the partial temple. - sorry, I know I'm getting distracted. But I really love mossy cobbles.
[Buff] Is there a dragon horde somewhere?
[Doc] Blushes - it's mostly oddball items and junk food...
-The sun is heading for the horizon now, coloring the sky in a riot of pinks and reds-
[Doc] Should we bed down for the night, fight through, or fly?
[Yaunfen] Now has chocolate all over their face-
-A few zombies groan in audible range-
[Yaunfen] Curls up a little- Mada...
[Doc] Stay close to me. I'll keep you safe.
[Buff] I'm up for whatever. What about you three? - asking Snake, Firebird and Mix-
[Yaunfen] Scurries over and tries getting under Doc-
[snake] I can't really fight
[Mix] Doesn't matter to me.
[Firebird] -Vaguely uninterested bird noise-
-A zombie becomes visible and turns towards them-
[Doc] Takes a breath and roasts it with lightning- small burp
[snake] -is patting firebirds head-
[Doc] Bed down then. I'll just finish this temple - Xe makes some gestures with a paw and the dirt rises up in a wave and fills in the missing part of the building to make a whole structure.
-Another zombie comes into view but it is suddenly frozen over-
[Buff] Niiiice. - He saunters inside without looking back.
[Doc] Squints at the zombie and nudges Yaunfen inside as well. - Shut the door. I'll just be a moment. - Xe scampers over the foliage and looks at the frozen zombie with deep suspicion.
[AVulpix] Pops out of a nearby bush- Vul!
[RVulpix] Nervously follows-
[Buff] Is looking around the space. - Pretty dank but it'll do. Anyone got torches?
[Doc] You! You followed us all the way out here?
[AVulpix] - Vul!
[Mix] Nah, but I have a few fire shards? They're not as bright as torches but...
[Buff] Fire shards?
[Doc] Come on you two. Let's take shelter. - Xe leads them into the little temple and then transforms to follow. While carrying Deerheart in hir arms.
[Buff] Jumps visibly - How..?
[RVulpix] Quickly hurries into a corner-
[Mix] -Pops a fireshard out, but drops it due to the Buff jump-
-It clatters and lets off a small flame out -
[RVulpix] Looks at the shard curiously-
[Doc] It's a knack. I can build people secondary forms as long as they're bigger then the person who's going to fit inside of it. Man, it's dark in here- Xe rummages through the creative and puts up some torches.
[AVulpix] Goes over to lick and calm it's fellow vulpix-
[Buff] Points at Yaunfen- So does that mean that's a kid?
[Yaunfen] - I have small form!
[Doc] It's the other way around actually. Yaunfen is a natural dragon with a humanoid form for small spaces. - Xe pulls out some beds and lays Deerheart gently on one.
[Buff] Turns to the dragon who is obviously excited- Can I see?
[Deer] Reaches out and grabs Doc's coat in her sleep-
[Yaunfen] Nods and sticks tongue out in concentration before going into hir humanoid form- Tada!
[Doc] Let's Deerheart pull hir onto the bed - I'm here darling, it's okay.
[Buff] You're adorable!
[Yaunfen] Giggles- You're much better than cold meanie
[Firebird] -Hops off Buff to retrieve lost fireshard-
[Doc] Considering what an ass he was, that's not much of a compliment sweetie.
[Buff] Cold meanie?
[Mix] Oooh! That's cool! I wonder if Liz would like that too.... *thoughtful look
[Doc] Your late predessor who violently alienated 99% of the people he talked to here.
[AVulpix] Trots around sniffing everything-
[Buff] Ah. What a waste.
[Yaunfen] - Big fire kept making him go away
-Half the building is dirtblocks and the other half is moss cobbles with a narrow passage leading downward.
[AVulpix] Cocks head as it looks at the passage- Vul?
[Buff] So Big Fire has a soft spot for my Herobrine huh? Always good to have friends.
[Doc] Well....
[snake] -gets off of firebird and goes down the passage way--
[Firebird] -100% just full on eats the shard whole because fire, meet fire. Then proceeds to follow Snake, looking around curiously.-
-Along the stairs there's a trip wire-
[snake] -since it's at eye level for him he ducks under it and keeps going-
[Firebird] -Pauses at trip wire, squinting at it because he's not quite sure what it is, but can feel it against an outstretched talon- ...???
-The wire snaps and a couple arrows come flying at them from the bottom of the stairs-
[Firebird] -Panicked Squawk and taking to the air-
[snake] be careful firebird of the tripwires are you ok?
-There' a short dead end to the right of the stairs at the bottom and a hallway wrapping around to the left-
[Firebird] -Softly as he lands- ..I.. can't see the tripwires. My eye isn't that good anymore. -lower head so it's closer to the ground-
[snake] can you see me?
[Firebird] ...Barely.
[snake] -come back and ducks under the trip wire and stays there- this is where the trip wire is I am under it I will help show you
[Firebird] Much thanks. -Does the hop over-
[snake] -goes back down the stairs and slowly goes down the hall way looking for trip wire-
-There is another trip wire down the longer hallway-
[snake] -ducks under it and stays there- firebird this is another trip wire
[Firebird] -Hop hop binch-
[snake] -continues down the hall way-
-The hallway turns to the left again and there are three levers on the wall-
[snake] is to short for the levers
[Firebird] Is that what those are? -Squint-
[snake] which ones are we going to flip?
[Firebird] ... -flips them all because.-
-There is a grinding sound back from where they came from-
[snake] -heads back staying under the trip wire so firebird can wonder again hop over it-
-The short dead end has revealed that a few blocks have moved on the wall that the stairs come from-
[snake] -makes his way over looking for more trip wire-
[Firebird] -Follows-
[snake] -is now in fount of what use to be the dead end-
-A soft groans come from the end of the other hall-
[snake] -softly- are those mobs?
[Firebird] ... Maybe? -Scoops the Snake up into his feathers and trots ahead carefully-
-Without Snake to signal where the trip wires are, they set it off and two arrows go whizzing past-
[snake] -make a loud kazoo noise in shock-
-The groan becomes louder and a zombie comes around the corner, having just been discovered-
[snake] -curls in a ball in firebirds feather in fear-
[Firebird] -Bird screech as lunge at Zombie, talons first-
-The zombie is quite dull and doesn't react immediately-
-Firebird stabs and scrapes the zombie. There is some fire, too.-
-The zombie catches fire and takes damage from the flames and scratches-
[Firebird] -Some more scratching-
[snake] -is shaking in firebirds feathers-
-The zombie stumbles around, setting the vines on the wall on fire as well-
-Bird keening as toasty warm is nice feeling for him-
[RVulpix] Sniffs the air and smells the smoke- Pix?
-The smoke is getting thicker and is trapped in the lower floor-
[snake] -smells the smoke- what is happening I am to scared to look?
[Firebird] ... Crispy Zombie. Burning everything.
[snake] should be worried about the burning of everything? or will it be ok?
[Doc] Perks- Yeah... I smell that too....
[AVulpix] - Vul!  Vulpix!
[Buff] I think something is on fire...
[Mix] ... I'd say it's Firebird..
[Doc] Sighs -
[Firebird] You'll be safe with me... Everything else.. Uh,....
[Buff] Can I have an ice block? I'll go look.
[Doc] How? You can't possibly fit! -groans- Here. - throws a block of packed ice to him-
[snake] what about everyone else?
[Firebird] ... F uck.
[Buff] Takes a running start and bashes into the small doorway. Punching out the blocks to make it wider and slowly fighting his way down the hallway-
[snake] -looks around realizing he can't see though the smoke-
[AVulpix] Backs away from the smoke now coming out-
-Lots of banging coming closer to Firebird and snake-
[Firebird] -This is normal. Completely normal, just surrounded by fire and smoke with a small noodle wrapped up in his feathers- Eee!
[snake] I am lucky I don't need to breath
[Doc] lifts a hand and a bolt of lighting strikes a hole in the ceiling so the smoke can get out. Rain instantly cascades down on hir from the one-block hole- Fuck.
[Buff] Bursts into the burning room and looks around- What a mess!
[RVulpix] Presses farther into the corner-
[Firebird] -Look over, flap wings a bit, fanning smoke and fire-
[snake] there was a zombie so firebird attacked it and then mass fire while I hide in the feathers.
[Buff] This was not well planned out guys. - He coughs a bit on the smoke but seems mostly unaffected by the fire. - He walks around the room in a clockwise circle and rubs the packed ice on the burning vines until they're all put out.
[AVulpix] Once the smoke is gone curiously goes down the stairs-
[Buff] You guys done exploring?
[Yaunfen] - Mada getting wet!
[snake] I think I am that was very intense
[Doc] Yeah... it's raining outside. Thank goodness water doesn't bug you Yaunfen.
[Yaunfen] Swim!  Swim!
[Doc] smiles- Yes, you're an excellent swimmer. I love going to the beach with you and Deerheart.
[Buff] Did you at least find some loot?
[snake] no but we where avoiding traps
[Buff] Aww. Better luck next time then. We should go back up. It smells like burnt zombie in here.
[Firebird] -Slowly nods a bit and scuttles to Buff-
[AVulpix] Sits on the bottom most step of the stairs-
[Buff] Walks back up the much enlarged passageway.
[Doc] What happened?!
[Buff] cheerfully- There was a small fire. Nothing to be concerned about.
[RVulpix] Lets out a whine and AVulpix comes running-
[Doc] Starts pulling basic food out of the creative. - Anyone else hungry?
[Buff] Happily accepts a roast chicken and chomps on it contentedly-
[snake] -tries to get off of firebird-
-The two vulpix's curl up together with AVulpix licking RVulpix-
[Doc] Pulls out a bit of mushroom stew and offers a spoonfull to Deerheart-
[Deer] Turns onto her side to curl around Doc-
[Doc] Are you not hungry love?
[Deer] - Stay...
[Yaunfen] Yawns- Mada, when we go home?
[Doc] We have to find Cp and Lie first Yaunfen. That was the whole point in coming out. Here, have some donuts. Plop down on one of the beds, rest up. We'll head out further in the morning.
[Yaunfen] - Okay Mada...  Are Big fire and miss Lie playing hide and seek with us?
[Doc] Kinda.
[Yaunfen] Takes the donuts and snacks on them-
[snake] -flops off of firebird then rolls into a donut shape- don't eat me
[Doc] Snake, Mix, Firebird, do you guys want some food?
[snake] no I don't eat I don't have a stomach thank you for thinking of me though
[Doc] Takes out a few food items and sets them on a block for anyone who's hungry and nibbles on a bit of steak. Xe's petting Deerheart's hair softly with hir free hand.
[Yaunfen] Is half asleep with a donut in their mouth-
[Doc] Curls up with Deerheart and starts to drift off as well. The sounds of the rain outside drown out the mob noises and cast a soothing aura over the moldering temple.
-time passes-
[Doc] Wakes to the sound of fighting outside- What the! - Xe looks around wildly and only Buff is missing.
-The two vulpix's are in the corner, RVulpix is awake as well and making worried noises-
[Doc] Gets loose from Deerheart and runs to the door to peek out.
-There's a meaty 'thwack' as a zombie impacts the outside of the dirt wall and crumples downward to despawn-
-It's just barely dawn and the mobs haven't begun to burn-
[Buff] Is dancing like a boxer and punching the undead away from him with a huge smile. - Hey! Come join me, it's great exercise!
[Deer] Stirs awake- Love?
[Doc] I.. I'll pass. - Turns around and shuts the door again. - Sheesh...
[Yaunfen] Is sprawled out in the middle of the floor-
[Doc] Steps gingerly over them and crawls back into bed with Deerheart.
[Deer] - What's happened?
[Doc] Buff is out there having a joyful punch-up with the undead. As far as I can tell he went out intentionally.
[snake] -is a tiny white sleeping noodle on the floor-
[Deer] - Are those...  Lie's Vulpix's?
[Doc] Yeah, they followed us. Sweet little critters.
[Deer] - Poor things...  They must be really concerned about her
[Doc] I'm just relieved that Cp didn't leave the server with her. I'd be much more stressed out otherwise.
[Deer] - Where would he go?
[Doc] Back to the real world? That has its own set of difficulties.
[Deer] - True....  I hope the two of them are okay...
[Doc] She's probably giving him an earful for running off.
[Deer] - Or trying to keep him calm...
[Doc] I think she'd likely turn him into a cat. It seems to be the best shape for when he's super emotional.
[Deer] - Good point
[Yaunfen] Mumbles in sleep-
[Doc] Our little one's first adventure away from spawn...
[Deer] - True, let's hope it's a good one

 Smiletale by EkoingSkies
Part one, The Mother
You see the gaping hole from afar, it seeps into the earth like dark water. Allowing you to see it’s surface, but you would have to get closer in order to look all the way to it’s bottom. Taking a step or two closer, you can see that the hole is much deeper than they all say, that the fall could very well kill you, that is, if you were dumb enough to fall in. Feeling brave, you step closer towards it. One step… two steps more … four… and another five. You are standing almost at the edge now, peering down into the hole. You see a small patch of yellow on the ground below you.
Flowers maybe?
Coming to Mt.Ebott was supposed to be a joke. You had run away from home and found your way to a small town unlike the big bustling city that you grew up in. Almost as soon as you stepped in this town, you heard almost everyone gossiping about a mountain, not far from said town, that supposedly was the entrance to a land of monsters. Or as you  heard of it; the Underground. The Underground was said to be a place where monsters had been banished after losing a war with some  humans... or something like that.  You never caught the details.
Since you had no place to be, and nothing better to do, you figured you would take a look for yourself. It would be nice if monsters really did exist, it'd be even better if they were still were alive now. So look down, in hope seeing one. Although, you don't know what exactly to expect. After all, you’d never taken time to think about theses sorts of things. Just about when you'll be able to eat next, were you were going to sleep, how you'd make money to survive. There hasn’t been much time think about childish things like that. For the most part, you left  those fairy tales and folk lores back home, when you turned thirteen. You are fourteen now, fourteen and a half actually. And you have seen more of the world in almost two years than you ever did in the thirteen years you spent with your parents. No regrets.
You have been sitting by the hole since lunchtime. Its nearly sunset now, but you dont know where else you could possibly go, seeing that you can’t go anywhere else. The ankle high, soft grass glistens in the late noon light. Warmth from the sun comes down on you, making the top of your head warm while the cool breeze weaves in and out of your light brown hair. Only a few clouds scatter here and there, giving the sky effects of being (mostly) clear. Just sitting there isn’t enough for you, you want to be able to feel it all. You imagine reaching into the sky, running your hand through the sky and leaving streaks of various hues in it like it was your very own canvas. You snap back into reality, noticing that your hand really is reaching into the sky. To your own disappointment, your fingertips aren't anywhere close to touching the cloud that is slowly hovering above you. This is why you left fantasies back home… But you suppose its okay to have at least some fun while you're still healthy and young. Besides.. . you didn’t leave everything back home. After all, you still have your hope.
For once, the universe seemed to be right. You hadn’t gotten into anyones way in a long while, and no one has yelled at you. No one has touched you. No one has hurt you. All there is, is peace. Never in your life have you been more happy and felt so alive at the same time. It was exhilarating.
You laugh to yourself, closing your eyes. In those few seconds, you hear crumbling from below. Your hands slip from behind you. And you fall.
It took your breathe away... Literally. You had no idea that you had been sitting so close to the hole in the first place. Maybe if you had, you wouldn't be gushing blood onto the flowers you were sprawled on. You begin to wheeze through clenched teeth. Even that hurts. It feels as if several knives are poking and impaling you from the inside. You slowly open your eyes, they sting as if someone kicked sand in them. The taste of blood lingers in your mouth, you believe that's what is dripping down your chin too. Your entire body aches and burns.But.. you can’t feel your legs at all. You try to wiggle your toes but nothing happens. This worries you. As you try to turn your head to the side, away from the blinding light above you, you jolt. Wincing at this reaction, you  screech like a banshee. The pain is agonizing. Its unbearable. You can't do anything without this shooting pain running through you. You can't even look down at your chest to see how bad it is. But… you think you broke your back, along with a few other bones scattered around in your body.
A high pitched, echoing voice come from beside you. It curses you out, complaining about how you should watch where you fall.
“ You almost crushed me! “ it really expressed the word crushed. Which you found a bit rude, but you were too tired and hurt to argue. The voice sounded annoyed.
“Hey, you stupid Human! Look at me when I’m talking to yo-” It stopped and gasped.
“W-what the hell happened to you?!” The voice sounded frantic, and sickened.
Stupid Human?...
You want so badly to explain what had just happened, to ask to repeat what they just said, incase you heard them wrong. But unlike feeling that the world was just in reach a few minutes ago, you feel like you're being buried alive right now. And with this feeling, comes fear of doing anything that might strain you.
Suddenly, a yellow blur pops up above you. Still, you can't see. You think that blood is getting in your eyes. No, its tears, your tears. You whisper, cracking your voice.
“H..el..p...Me….?” The tears begin rolling down the sides of your face. Your eyes sting again. You feel drowsy, light headed. You want sleep. You sob, every heave stabbing your lungs. You cough up red fluid and watch it splatter into the air slightly, only to land on your shirt and face when it comes down. The blur jumps.
“Oh god. Oh my.. “ It stutters. “Hold on! I'll go get help!”
What if you choke on your own blood before it gets back?
“Don't move!” it told you, probably knowing that you couldn't to begin with.
You lie there for hours it seemed, slowly dying. Then the voice came back with a second one with them. It was the soft, loving voice of a women, who you couldn't see any better than the first smaller voice. But you could make out a large purple and white blur. The two blurs together begin talking amongst themselves , but you can't hear them over the sound of heartbeats. You felt large agil hands lifting you up. You screamed in pain once more before passing out.
You now wake up in a cold sweat, gasping , taking in short breaths at a time. You are… in a bed?.... Staring at a ceiling in a house?... You find that your memory is a bit fuzzy.. And the last thing you can recall clearly was sitting by that hole on Mtt. Ebott. That hole. You fell and- Oh god. Your legs. Can you move them?! Quickly you jolt up,  and try wiggling your toes. A sharp pain shoots up your back, but no were near as bad the way it was earlier. Still, it aches. Thankfully it feels much better now. You watch as all of your toes dance around in place. Your vision is clear now to.
Thank God. You think to yourself, sighing with relief. But…. How in the world did you get here? Where is here?... ust then, you hear that voice again.
“A-ah! You're awake! How do you feel?” You skim the room in search of someone wearing yellow. You don't see anyone. So who was just..
“I'm over here! On the nightstand!” It it called out from beside you. Turning your head to the nightstand, you see a yellow flower sitting in a pot. It had tall, thin blacked out eyes and a mouth in which appeared to have to small pointed teeth when it opened.
“You?” you sound more rude than you mean to be.
“Well, duh. Who else is in here other you and me?” the flower looks at you funny, and turns its head away slightly.
“What?” You ask.
He looks in your direction, but avoids looking directly at you.
“PLEASE, cover yourself when i'm in here.” You look down at yourself, confused. That's when you realize, you're not wearing any cloths. Flustered, you quickly pull the covers over your chest and bury your face in them. How you can get so worked up over a flower seeing your breasts is beyond you, but it feels the same as those naked in school dreams; It makes you want to cover yourself, crawl in a hole, and die. Well, you've already done two of those things, but from you have gathered, you aren't dead. But shouldn't you be?
“We have been properly introduced, have we?” The flower goes on without getting you reply.
“Im Flowey, Flowey the Flower.” he extends a leaf, you hold it carefully and shake it.
“Aren't you going to tell me your name?” Flowey asks.
Oh, right…You think to yourself.
“My name is Frisk.” You smile happily. “Very nice to meet you, Flowey!”
He looks taken aback at this.
“Are you serious?”
You questionably nod.
The flower takes a few second to think, before shrugging his leaves.“In that case, it's nice to meet you too, Frisk.” the flower gives a weak smile in return.
“You know... You fell pretty hard. I'm Surprised that you're even still breathing right now.”
You suddenly remember the fall again.
“Flowey, what happened?” you asked.
“Oh, you mean, how are you not dead? Well…. When I went off to go get help, you were near death. I was shocked that you were alive when i got back. you broke nearly every bone in your body and you were bleeding nonstop too. So anyways, I went to find someone who could use healing magic on you- And…. the goat lady was the only monster I could think of…”
You jump up, holding the covers over you and fall back on the bed due to shooting pain up your spine. You huff and sit up again.
“M-monster?” you wheeze, shocked and in discomfort.
“You mean, they do exist?” you wheeze.
Flowey snorts, “Well, YEAH! What do you think your looking at, some ordinary flower?”
Yes, except for the talking part.
Flowey lets out a sigh, “Welcome to the underground, Frisk. Land of monsters. Good luck ever getting out.” You purposely ignore that last statement.
“Who is this... Goat lady?...” you ask, a bit scared to find out. For all you know it could just be a giant goat.
“The goat lady is the one who fixed you. This is her house. “
You look around.”Its nice.”
Just then, you hear the door handle jiggle and turn. As the door opens, you tall goat women in a dark purple dress with long white sleeves. She doesn't look like a normal goat though… She Has blue eyes and droopy white ears. Her mouth looks a lot like Flowey’s too. She wore a kind smile as she walked into the room.
“Hello, my child!” She sat on the end of the bed, weighing it down a bit.
“Do you feel better?” she asks kindly.
You nod, baffled.
“Wonderful!  I'm so glad!”
“But.. I still feel slightly achey…” you admit.
“I see.. I'm sorry, my child. I wanted to heal you as much as i could.. But using that much magical energy really does take a lot out of me. So i went to rest… If you'd like, I can try one more time.”
She reaches out to you with glowing green magic?... around her hands.
“Oh, you don’t have to…” You say, not wanting her to strain herself.
“Nonsense, this will only take a few minutes….. I am just happy that you are awake. You were out for almost a week… As expected, that fall broke many of your bones. Including your back, ribs, even your arms. I'm surprised that you are not paralyzed right now. I am thankful of that.”
Flowey nods in agreement.
Minutes pass, and you feel no pain, only sore in a few areas.
The goat lady sighs, wiping sweat off her brows.
“That should do it!” She looks at you with warmth in her expression.
“Could you tell me, what is your name, my child?”
You don't hesitate to her the way you did with Flowey.
“My name is Frisk.” You smile.
“Well it's a pleasure to meet you Frisk, my name is Toriel.” She smiles back.
You laugh, grinning “It's nice to meet you too, Toriel!” You are still gripping the covers to cover yourself. Toriel notices this.
“Oh dear, i almost forgot. I have some clothes for you!” A but latte she come into the room with a bundle of cloths.
“I couldn't wash the blood out of your old ones.. So I made you these.” She sets them on the bed.
“Come Flowey, let's allow Frisk to change.” With that, she picks up the pot, and leaves the room, shutting door behind her. You smile to yourself. “Like a mother”.

“Rejection”; Chapter One
NOTE: As much as I LOVE Frans, this fanfiction is going to be a Reader x Sans. Hints of Undyne x Alphys will be mentioned in later chapters (as that’s pretty much canon). I have no idea what the schedule will be for uploading new chapters, since I’ve already typed out about 30 lengthy chapters! There will be NO Papyrus x Mettaton; sorry! Not really my thing. But in other words, enjoy!

______________________________________________________________
It was a windy, snowy day outside. Snowdin was colder than usual, but the monsters who inhabited it didn't seem to mind. The colorful Christmas lights twinkled with cheer, and the “stars” above shone brightly. As little monster children ran about throughout the town square by the large decorated tree with presents lying underneath, you sat on the dark green couch of Sans and Papyrus’s home.
Papyrus was off doing training with Undyne, and God knows where Sans is. That skeleton really was a mystery. Knowing him, you thought glumly, he's probably at Grillby’s again. You didn't mind the quiet; it gave you time to think. Not too long before you fell into the Underground, you had confessed your love for a boy who's name will not be mentioned. His rejection stung harder than it should've, but you couldn't help but believe that in someway you might have acted...desperate towards him.
You sighed, and glanced around the home. It was small, but cozy. A mini kitchen stretched out across the room to your right, and a TV sat in front of you. You didn't turn it on; most of the channels were about Mettaton anyways. That self-obsessed celebrity would just make you feel worse, since all he talked about was flirting and promoting his brand.
There was spaghetti on the wooden table nearby, but it was already cold. A rock covered in glitter sat next to it, as well as a sock on the floor with nearly 15 sticky notes piled on top. A flight of stairs was to your left, which lead up to Papyrus and Sans’s bedrooms. The door to Papyrus’s room read, “NO GIRLS ALLOWED! OR BOYS. ONLY PAPYRUS.” You smiled weakly at the adorable skeleton’s innocent behavior, but it faded away quickly. Rainbow lights and a odd feeling pulsed out of Sans’ room. You already knew what was in there, even though you’d never actually gone into the room.
The same goes for knowing Toriel, Flowey, the skelebros, Undyne and Alphys. None of them had met you before, but you knew them. You knew them all too well. See, Frisk is still around. And they are their own person. But you still couldn't wrap your brain around how you wound up here in the first place. After all, “Undertale” is a video game. You've played it before. How could you possibly BE here?
Perhaps on “the surface”, you were in such a bad emotional state that it was strong enough to break reality itself, resulting in the travel into the world of code and pixels. But that couldn't happen. Can't it? You were certain that the heartache you felt wasn't powerful enough bring you here. But then again… How did I get here? Do I have super-powers? Or is it just my copy of the game? You thought hard, perplexed.
You placed a hand over where your heart would be, and drew out your soul. It was unique, and very intriguing to the few monsters who saw it. You looked closely into it, and saw all the memories of your entire time in the Underground; plus shortly before. You saw him… the boy who broke your heart. But his face flashed away instantly, being replaced by your family and friends. A scene of you meeting Frisk and Toriel played, and you smiled weakly. Frisk seemed to have a hunch of what was going on, with you being brand new to the game. Not once in any timeline ever did you appear. Which is why, you guess, she is reluctant to reset.
Ah yes, resets. The topic that two- now three- people knew about in the Underground. Frisk was the one who did all the resetting, but was she really? Because, weren’t you Frisk back in the real world playing Undertale? Or were you merely allowing your mind to make it think that? All along, Frisk had been their own being. And so was...Chara. But what does that make you? An onlooker? Or a player? This whole thing was as confusing as trying to understand Gast-
Suddenly, the thought left without a trace. Wait, what was I thinking about again? You leaned back on the couch, and realized that your soul was still beaming brightly in front of your chest. The current images flowing by like the breeze outside were about you first meeting Sans. How you freaked out, knowing that your most absolute-favorite-character of the game was standing right in front of you.
But… your heart had stopped. Your mind went on the run, and fear consumed you. His figure, blackened by shadow, was WAY more intimidating when you're actually there in front of him rather than just looking at a screen. His words still remain swimming around in the depths of your mind, and the image of how you were petrified by his seriousness. You still didn't know why, since you knew it was him and he was only here to greet himself and give you a delightfully funny handshake.
Right, the handshake. You watched yourself through the large soul before you take his hand joyfully and practically squeal from relief and pure happiness. You cringed from afar as you drew the big boned skeleton into a bear hug, and began to cry in his arms. You wanted to slap yourself, as a wave of loathing washed over your head. This is why he rejected you. Because you are too desperate. Look, even Sans is confused and doesn't know how to react! Idiot.
But… You argued internally, he's never met me before. If I were Frisk, or any of the previous 7 souls, I'm sure he would've known what to do. After all, he's used to the resets and different timelines. So, obviously, when this is the first timeline where I show up, he's gonna be baffled. You forced the conclusion of the argument, and reluctantly finished watching the cringeful scenario. Again, you smiled weakly when Sans grinned ever so slightly and gently, barely, placed his hands around your back.
The next channel of emotions flicked through immediately, and you saw Papyrus introducing you to his puzzles and Sans cracking jokes awkwardly along the way. You laughed at every one of them, and were sure that Sans was surprised. Frisk, after all, never really let out more than a chuckle in their first run of the game. But, after a couple hundred resets, you figured they got used to it. Who knows, you may be completely wrong, since you were quite certain that something fishy was going on with the whole idea that Frisk has always been their own being rather than you controlling them.
An electrocuted Papyrus here, a Nice Cream guy there. “Junior Jumble” here, and a bridge of mortal terror there. As you peered over the side, your eyes cast upon the vast, thick forest below. Vertigo surge up through you stomach, and you clutched the railings warily. When was the last time I'd eaten something warm? You thought, recalling the Nice Cream man’s cold snack. It’s not like that helped the frostbite you had most likely gotten on your legs. Staring at your soul, you shivered and instinctively covered your bare legs.
When you had “fallen” into the game, you were wearing nothing more than the attire you had outside your laptop. A T-shirt, short-shorts, and black Nike sneakers. Thankfully you weren't too depressed that you did your hair in the morning. You wore it up into a ponytail when you had first met Flowey in the crumbled Ruins, but now you wore it down to try and keep your neck somewhat warm. Snowflakes dotted your wavy curls, and also your freaking-long eyelashes. Your huge “nerd” glasses were steamed up, and your fingers were blue from the frozen treat earlier. And frostbite.
Thankfully, Papyrus let you off easy on that puzzle. You knew that he felt bad about the difficulty, and decided to keep it safe for Undyne later. Perhaps that was what he was doing today. You sighed on the couch, thinking about the battles you had to go through on your journey. You’re not a very determined person, so you really had to watch your health. Certainly Frisk was aware of that when she started putting the pieces together; so she made sure to give you extra healing items such as a “Manly Bandana” and “Healing Bandages”. You had used the bandages a long time ago, back when you were just greeted by Papyrus. The Ruin’s monsters weren't too bad; they were just souls who needed a good pep talk.
You knew from the moment you woke up on those golden bed of flowers you could go through a Pacifist or Genocide run. But, being too amazed that you were actually in Undertale, you decided right away to go Pacifist. Let me tell you, Flowey was not happy about that. He thought that finally meeting a new human, along with already having Frisk, that he could force evil into you. After all, that's what Chara needs in order to posses a vessel. Hatred, LOVE, and determination. You had none of those.
Your eyes stung and watered from the fright of seeing Flowey in person; without a thought, Papyrus appeared once more inside of your multi-colored soul. A human girl like you could only take so much cold; so you can imagine how exhausted, beaten, and freezing you were when you crossed that bridge to follow Sans and Paps.
You could feel his eyes- er, eye sockets- studying you, from your physical form to all the EXP you'd earned. Sans was the “Judgement” monster; he could see right through one’s lies. It was one of his many, many talents. You watched as your body thumped onto the ground, and passed out cold. Sans’ reaction was actually a little stunning; he called for his younger brother, and pointed to you. Papyrus freaked out, and hoisted your limp appendages into his arms, and from there carried you to Snowdin.
Even while asleep, your soul picked up on what was happening around you. Monsters all through the town looked on from a distance as the tallest skeleton was carrying a nearly-dead human to his humble abode. The shorter skeleton wouldn't rip his eyes away from her, and had his hands shoved into his blue jacket’s pockets. Alas, business carried on like usual, since the monsters were all very much used to Frisk. However, a indescribable tension hung faintly in the air as everyone realized another human was in the Underground, never to escape.
Never to escape… You thought drearily, and glanced out the window. The storm picked up throughout the time you had started pondering; you worried for the skelebros. They were being so kind to a stranger, unlike what humans in the real world would do. The real world… Memories of your rejection and your family all came surging back to you at once. Suddenly, an urge to cry sprang up to your face; figuring that Sans and Paps wouldn't be home for another good hour, you let your wet tears stream down your cheeks.
The soul in front of you stopped playing scenes from your time in the Underground, and faded back into its normal opaque color. Well, colors. That's the weird thing about your soul; it wasn't just one personality trait. All the human children that fell from the surface had one trait, which determined the color of their soul. They were light blue, dark blue, yellow, orange, purple, green and of course red. Those stood for patience, integrity, justice, courage, perseverance, kindness, and determination. In that order.
Again, how did you know all this? Well, Undertale is a game. It was meant for entertainment purposes, and of which means that it could be dissected piece by piece to find all of its history and facts. You knew all this game’s secrets like the back of you hand, but now that you’re here you felt like a lot more from the files will soon appear and have a need to be found. After all, this has never happened before. And since you have no knowledge about this timeline, you will remain naive and not know how to escape. You will remain here forever, never seeing your family again.
But really… How bad could it be? You have friends down here, even if they don't know it. You haven't even met half of the game’s characters yet, and you already feel home. Maybe since I kinda am home, you thought. Papyrus gets really attached to strangers really quickly, which was the complete opposite of Sans. But, it seems that Sans has already started trusting you. Well, he kinda already saw into your soul and noted how you have no LOVE, EXP, or HP. LOVE… “Level Of ViolencE”. Really nice way to trick Frisk, Flowey. You sneered, and shook your head dismissively. EXP… “EXecution Points”. And… HP? What's that again? “HoPe”? It would make sense, since you don't really have hope, either.
You sniffled pathetically, and brought your knees closer to your chest. Your heart glowed a deep blue, which you could quickly tell meant sadness. Some trees tapped wildly against the glass, which made you flinch. You looked around the first floor again, and landed on the sink. It was practically 10 feet tall, so Papyrus could fit more under it. The Annoying Dog wouldn't be hiding under there, like normal, since he was asleep up in Sans’ room. You didn't need to go up there to check; you just knew.
A loud bang made you jump about 3 feet into the air; you whipped your head over to the front door.

Chapter 44: Prophecy Day
Long ago, the characters lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Request Box attacked.
Really though, this was not how I was planning these events to take place but it ended up working out in the end. Apparently this is what happens when I set the characters loose.
[Sans Days/Nights]
[Buy me a coffee] [Patreon]
Warnings: Serious warning for first part of this chapter for rape undertones. It doesn’t actually go anywhere, but the terror and thoughts of those situations are there. The rest of the chapter is nice tho and you chat with the old turtle so that’s kinda cool.
The command was simple enough to follow.
Your adrenaline was already pumping through your veins as you struggled against the magical bonds, your mind scrambling and trying to make sense of the situation. You could feel Gaster’s smile close to your ear, his hand grabbing your shoulder one sharp finger at a time, the heat radiating from him. You were breathing shallowly and quickly, feeling like you couldn’t get enough oxygen in your system as your muscles pulled with all their force to wield no results. Gaster wouldn’t hurt you, right? If he wanted to hurt you, he would have done so a long time ago… So what was he planning on doing to you?
As your thoughts scrambled to gather the worst possible scenarios, Gaster grew to his full height, throwing his head back and closing his eyes. A rumble came from deep in his chest and turned to a dark laugh, eyes cracking open as they drifted back down to you. A hand closed around your throat and he tilted your head to watch the panic on your face.
“So this is what it feels like to be alive.” His voice seemed different. Darker, excited, and even more dangerous sounding than usual. “Fascinating.” His hand tightened around your throat and he pressed his body against yours, his nails digging into your shoulder. You opened your mouth to scream, but black tar covered your mouth the moment you started.
Trapped.
He had you pinned with nowhere to go. Every time you tried summoning your teleporting powers and started feeling the needles, he would tighten his grip ever so slightly, halting any progress you would be making. “You don’t get to run off again. As of right now, you are mine.” He growled. He knew you were trying to teleport, you swallowed, mind reeling and trying to come up with a plan C. The magic holding you up suddenly faded, and Gaster caught you, holding you by your sides and pinning you to the wall. His face pressed against where your neck met your shoulder, and you could feel him take in your scent.
No longer restricted by the orange magic, your hands flew to his shoulders, trying to push him away to no avail. He was too strong, too close, to gain any sort of advantage. You tried kicking him, but he didn’t seem to notice your weak attacks. Your muffled struggling was the only sound in the quiet room, and you knew Sans wasn’t going to hear anything. He wouldn’t be back in time.
That thought sent a chill throughout your body as the terrifying realization settled in you, and that seemed to make Gaster grip tighter onto you as a rumbling came from deep in his chest. “That is right… Feel the terror coursing through your body. The hopelessness of your reality. I need it.” His teeth brushed along your neck down to where your neck met your shoulder, the sharp edges threatening to break skin. You froze up, unable to think of anything you could do to escape. He was right; you were powerless to defend against him. You were at his mercy.
Your thoughts were panicking so badly it took you a moment to realize he stopped moving, simply holding you in that position for a few seconds.
The coldness of the room suddenly became apparent as he separated himself from you, his magic effortlessly picking you up and bringing you back to the counter. He quickly stepped over to his papers, writing something quickly as his magic released you back in your original seat. The tar left your mouth and you gasped for air, bringing your knees close to you, shock still scrambling your thoughts as you tried to figure out what just happened. You felt yourself shaking, watching Gaster fearfully while he seemed to ignore you.
“My apologies, but I needed genuine results.” Gaster quickly said as he wrote another line in Wing Dings before swiftly standing straight, and pulling his Soul out. The once hollow Soul now seemed like it was almost pure red, just along the edges you could see the gap between the Determination and white outline. He gave a single shocked laugh, taking a step back and bringing a hand to his forehead. “It… It worked. My theory was correct.” He gave another relieved laugh, looking like exhaustion was suddenly catching up with him. He wiped sweat away at his forehead with the back of his wrist, still staring unbelieving at the Soul.
Gaster looked up at you, genuine smile appearing on his face as he stepped up to you. You had another wave of panic as he grew closer, and you saw the red in his Soul brighten ever so slightly, but he didn’t seem to notice as he reached out for you. Orange magic grabbed you and threw you into his arms with a yelp, and he held you in a tight hug as he spun around. “You beautiful, glorious human!” He held you up by your arms, looking excited. “Do you know what this means?” He asked quickly, eyes wide and smile big. You’ve never seen him so happy.
You have also never been more terrified in your life.
“G-gaster…” You could feel yourself shaking in his hands, and his smile quickly dropped when he saw how red your face was, the slight quiver in your lip. “C-can you… put me down, p-please?” It took everything you had to not start crying at the request, your nerves clashing and still reeling from the panic. The response was instant, and he quickly set you down back on the counter. You immediately pulled your knees close and hugged yourself, still watching him carefully.
“What is wrong? Are you hurt? Was I perhaps to rough?” He asked quickly, seeming to grow concerned and leaned down to look for exterior damage with a much more expressive face than usual. You felt a flash of anger, and your eyes burned.
“I t-thought… I thought you were going to…” You inhaled trying to keep your shaking under control, but it felt like you just made it worse. You brought a hand up to where his teeth threatened to break skin, and looked away.
“Oh, no, of course not!” He straightened himself for a moment, seeming to realize what you were getting at. He swallowed, and leaned forward to quickly explain himself. “I would never mark you as my own. I simply needed you as terrified as you could possibly could be. I would never actually put you under anything like that, that was just a-“ There was a cracking sound, and he recoiled, bringing a hand to his face. You had your hand extended, and you realized you smacked him.
“But. You. Did.” You said sharply, shaking violently. You tried to control your breathing, anger burning on your face. “I was terrified. Y-you can’t just… do that!” You yelled, voice straining. Gaster seemed genuinely shocked you were so upset. That made you angrier. “What? D-did you expect me to be frightened for my life one moment, and fine the next?!” Gaster opened his mouth to say something, but you jumped to the ground and interrupted him. “No! It doesn’t work that way! I don’t care what your reasons are, that isn’t okay! I’m only human!”
“Precisely! I thought humans were resilient when their life was on the line. Surely you must have survived more life endangering situations than that.” He tried reasoning, taking a step back away from your rage. He must be nearly half a foot taller than Papyrus in height, yet he seemed to think you were a danger when angry.
“My life, maybe, not… that!”
“What’s going on here?” Sans’ voice caught the both of you off guard, and you turned to see him standing at the open door, a paper bag in his hand. He looked at how defensively Gaster was standing, and how your cheeks were burning with anger. His eyebrows lowered and he looked at Gaster. “What did you do?”
You immediately stomped over to Sans and grabbed the paper bag out of his hands. “Tell your fucking brother how to treat a human properly.” The venom in your voice shocked Sans, but you left the basement and stepped into the snow. It seemed like it was growing dark in Snowdin, but it wasn’t like you had any concept of time down here anyway. As you walked away from the basement you heard Sans pick up an accusatory tone of voice, but you left the brothers to the argument without you.
The snow crunched under your bare feet, and you bit your cheek to ignore the regret of allowing yourself to be teleported unprepared earlier. You quickly made your way to the house, going in just long enough to slip on shoes, ignoring the concerned look Flowey gave you and slammed the door behind you. You were halfway to the entrance of Waterfall when you realized you were still in your robe and pajamas, but you didn’t care at this point. You fixed your disheveled robe to cover more of your neck, but not because you needed the warmth.
The entrance of Waterfall welcomed you with warm air, probably coming all the way from Hotland you figured. You let the blue toned darkness surround you as you continued walking through, letting the distant sound of running water slow down your thoughts.
Your mind replayed the events of the basement without your permission, and you kept shaking your head to focus on where you were right now. One thing that stuck out was how he insisted he wasn’t going to… ‘mark’ you. Your hand rubbed your shoulder, thinking about it. As if getting ‘marked’ was what you were worried about.
Shaking your thoughts away once more, you made your way through the close cave space until you finally ended up where all the bridges were. You stopped a moment to take in the scene, before walking to the edge you and Sans ate at before. You really were a creature of habit, you realized as you sat down and pulled off your shoes, slowly putting your feet into the blue glowing water. Finally opening the paper bag you took from Sans, you saw plenty of hotdogs in buns stacked on each other, along with an entire bottle of ketchup next to them. There was just about enough food in here for three people, you realized with a slight pang of guilt. It ended shortly after Gaster’s actions replayed in your mind yet again, and you quickly grabbed a hotdog and gave it a small layer of ketchup before angrily biting into it.
“Just who does he think he is?” You mumbled with a mouthful of food, kicking the water. You swallowed and took another bite while staring at the waves of color. Possibly the worst thing about the situation, you figured, was how you didn’t see it coming. Ever since he was back he seemed cold, but more-or-less predictable. He was a doctor, and acted on curiosity but not to the point of threatening you like… that. After the fact he seemed so excited and active, somehow losing his cold doctor act after that terrifying situation. Maybe it had something to do with his Soul.
You paused mid-bite at that thought, just for a moment, before finishing the hotdog and grabbing another. His Soul was nearly full of Determination when he pulled it out the second time, but you didn’t know what exactly that meant. He was going to tell you, you realized, but of course you doubted you would have been able to appreciate that answer in the state you were in.
“You know, food tends to taste better when you actually take the time to taste it.” An old voice startled you, nearly making you drop what little of the hotdog you had left. You quickly turned around to see an old turtle monster looking at you. He stopped stroking his beard and slapped his knee. “Wahaha! So jumpy! I’m sure you have your reasons though.” You blinked at the monster, not knowing how to respond. He took the silence as an invitation to sit beside you. “Gerson.” He introduced himself simply.
You said your name, silently wondering why he was suddenly picking up a conversation with a random stranger. He seemed to notice. “You’ve a question in your eyes, I can see it. You’ve also lots of anger in there too. I’m not about to pry into anyone’s business, but I can see you need a distraction… and maybe help with those hotdogs?” He looked at your paper bag with his one good eye, slight smile hinting at his actual intentions with sitting with you.
“They’re not really mine to give out… but you can have one I suppose.” You grab one out of the bag and hand it to the old monster, who seemed to appreciate it quite a bit.
“Ah, that’s what I love about you humans! Either you are completely selfish, or truly givin’, and you never know what you might end up with! Wahaha!” He laughed again, taking a massive bite out of the hotdog. “Where are my manners? I said I was going to distract you, yet here I am making casual conversation.” He coughed and cleared his throat. “Let me tell you ‘bout the prophecy. Sure, the darn thing seems to be irrelevant now since we monsters are freed and everything, but it sure does make a nice story.” He pulled out a small purple cloth that was in the shape of a rounded shield, a circle with wings were taking over the top half, while three triangles almost looked like a face at the bottom.
He continued to talk about how the circle was an angel, said that they were the one who was going to empty the underground. He then laughed and said how the underground was still not empty, but the principle of the prophecy came true enough. He then continued to distract you more, talking about the ancient monster-human war, which he seemed to know too much about to have simply heard about it. You started to wonder how old monsters could even get, given that the war had become nothing more a bedtime story back on the surface…
He had strange nicknames for other monsters you knew, the one that stood out the most was his name for the King. Fluffybuns. That managed to make you laugh, and he seemed to take comfort that you genuinely responded. He talked and talked… rarely needing any sign to continue talking about absolutely everything.
After awhile he suddenly grew quiet, and he looked around the empty cave room you two were in.
“Say, I don’t see many humans around these parts alone. More often than not they are with another monster or travel in a pack, but givin’ that you are so comfortable as to wear your ‘jamas here, I can safely assume you’ve been here for some time, eh?” He half asked, and you shrugged.
“A little while, yeah.” You had kept your answers short and vague for the turtle during the encounter so far, and he picked up on that.
“Long vacations are fine and all, but don’t be hiding for too long.” He commented, finally finishing up the last bit of hotdog he had been holding onto this entire time. You startled, wondering how he knew. “The only people who go on breaks are ones who need to get away from something. The only time someone is upset on their break is when they can’t escape what they’re running from.” He winked at you… or maybe just blinked, you couldn’t exactly tell when he only had one eye.
“I’ll… keep that in mind, thank you.” You looked down at your feet, gently splashing the water to make the waves grow brighter in color.
“I think I distracted you long enough.” He stood up with a grunt, seeming to struggle with the shell on his back for a moment. “I’ll leave you to your business.” He gave a lazy wave to you and started walking back over the bridges. You mulled over the stories he told you. They weren’t directly relevant to your life at all, yet you took comfort in knowing about them. Old people were too wise for their own good, you concluded before standing up and shaking off the water on your feet.
You tried to dry your feet to the best of your ability before slipping on your shoes again, but you really didn’t want to walk all the way back to Sans’ house… Maybe you could try to teleport again? You swallowed, not really wanting to scare yourself to try teleporting though, knowing that you had plenty of material for that. You shook your head and sat down again, crossing your legs. People say meditation is great to control your thoughts… It was worth a shot.
You straightened your back and relaxed your arms, putting the paper bag in your lap and listening to the running water around you. In… Out… You controlled your breathing, and tried to clear your mind. Thoughts of the monster war bubbled in your head, and you quickly brushed them off. Come on, you could do it. In… Out… Your home popped up, and you wondered how Samus was doing. You hoped she was enjoying her time with Undyne and Alphys. She probably missed climbing in Sans.
“Agghhh…” You grumbled, rubbing your head. Your thoughts were too active to be empty. You would be here forever if you kept trying to meditate like this. You sighed, figuring the easiest way to teleport would to give yourself a quick scare, but you had trouble deciding if it was worth it. You made an incredibly short pro-con list that simply consisted of; Pros: Get to Sans’ place without the long walk. Cons: Scared. You sighed, your laziness winning the argument.
Swallowing, you closed your eyes and imagined yourself in a dark room, trying to force the thought of vines covering the ground. Yeah… Yeah that’s scary as shit, you congratulated yourself before realizing you weren’t actually scared of that at the moment. You grumbled at yourself and quickly shook your head, restarting the imagination.
The vines were slowly moving around you, growing along the sides of the shadows, before they all suddenly stopped moving. They started to sag, turning brown before slowly collapsing into dust, confusing you. You heard footsteps beside you, and when you turned your head, you saw a man with a crooked nose and burns across his face pointing a gun to your head. He had a wild look in his eyes, along with something dark that was splattered all across him. You looked down his dust-covered body, seeing that he was holding a long metal arm. That arm looked familiar to you, but before you could process it, you heard him cock the hammer of the gun back.
“End of the line, pet.”
The gun fired, and you screamed as you fell in the air. Your fall was interrupted by the table in Sans’ living room, but only partially. You bounced to the ground hard, putting pressure on your tailbone as you swore and hissed through your breaths, the pain being equal to at least double that of hitting your funny bone on the counter edge.
“Whoa!” You heard Sans shout, a cup falling to the ground. You glanced up to see Sans looking shocked at you, before quickly coming to your side. “You okay, Vertebae?” He asked, helped you sit up, but you kept sitting on a hand, to try and relieve the pain. You started to shake your head, but automatically trying to nod, and ended up with an awkward impersonation of a bobble head. You swallowed and looked around the room to make sure you actually ended up where you wanted, more-or-less.
Gaster looked like he was sitting at the couch before you appeared, now standing with a hand to his chest as he looked puzzled between you and it. “Did something happen?” He quickly asked, seeming to be his more lively self rather the doctor.
“No- I mean, yes, but not really…” You quickly said, shaking your head trying to get your thoughts straight. “Sans, call Alphys.” You quickly looked at Sans, your request confusing him.
“Right now? It’s pretty late-“
“Call Alphys.” You said again, carefully standing up and rubbing your rear. “Just… trust me. It’s probably nothing, but please?” He nodded, quickly heading up the stairs and to his room. You watched him close the door behind him, hoping your imagination was just an out of control daydream.
“Are… are you alright?” Gaster asked. You looked at him, and he was still looking concerned at you.
“Just peachy.” You said flatly, clear that you haven’t forgiven or forgotten what he’d done yet. He nodded, averting his eyes a moment before looking back to you. His hands were tying themselves into knots before he took a breath, bringing them behind his back.
“I should… properly apologize. Sans has told me more about humans and I realized that my actions earlier may have came across as a much more personal form of attacking.” You raised your eyebrow, waiting for more. “Please understand my interactions with humans within this reality are nearly nonexistent. Before the core incident I have had but a couple encounters with humans, not nearly enough to learn any sort of behavioral or social norms. I believed I was simply threatening your physical body and the integrity of Sans’ territory, as… that is what the equivalent to monsters is.” He swallowed, seeming genuinely nervous. “I would not have acted in such a manner had I known it carried a different weight for humans.” He bowed slightly, keeping his eyes to the ground.
“God, why do you have to always be so wordy?” You asked, crossing your arms. Gaster looked up at you, shocked. “Just… say you are sorry already, man. I don’t care what your excuse is, I just want to know- that you know- that you seriously messed up and won’t do it again.” You frowned at him, and he quickly stood up properly again, placing a hand on his chest.
“My ap- I mean… I am sorry. It will not happen again without express permission.” He gave a slight bow again, and you wondered where he picked that sort of habit up. You considered his apology, but you weren’t entirely sure if you could forgive him just yet. It did seem like he meant it, at least.
“Guys, we have a problem.” Sans stepped close to the railing on the second floor, looking down at the two of you. He had the phone in his hand, and you could see the worry on his face.
“What’s wrong?” You asked feeling a pit open in your stomach, already having a bad feeling that you knew what happened.
“They have Mettaton.”

i’ve been occasionally vague in my tags recently (don’t know if anyone actually reads them when i do add them but anyway) and I figured i should probably explain myself.
this past month of august has been really hard for all the good things that have happened in it. i’ve been feeling really upset about my body, my eating habits and my lifestyle, and while i thought being at home wasn’t helping, i was wrong (for reasons that will be explained in this super long post - i am so sorry people who don’t care about me).
i’ve never been happy with my weight. friends of mine have probably noticed that i put myself down a lot - saying self-deprecating things like I’m ugly and one such thing today i’m nowhere near pretty enough to a) marry rich and b) have a sugar daddy (you don’t need context here) - and it’s a problem i am subconsciously trying to fix.
but as i was saying, my body and i have never been on good terms. i think that my curves are in all the wrong places, and i feel like i’m in that gross in-between where no clothes look good on me, and I don’t have the right proportions for my tall (5′7-5′8) body.
i celebrated my 20th birthday this year, twice technically. Once a few days before with my friends and another the weekend of with my family. Firstly the night out with my friends. Sidenote: I’m not a ‘night out’ kind of girl. I don’t really like to get hammered. I will, I just won’t drink so much that I’ll throw up - mostly because I’m lazy and down want to have to clean. But as we were all at home, I figured fuck it, lets go out-out. Sometimes you just need to go out and get drunk with some friends.
three things happened that night that made me hate myself. three things, I don’t think I’ve actually told my friends (both of which are on tumblr and may see this if i don’t mass reblog other things immediately after it), or if i have I’ve played it off.
the first thing: my choice of outfit. again body issues. and lack of night out clothing. i don’t own any jeans that actually sit on my waist. i have high waisted jeans but unfortunately they always slip down to my hips (under my muffin top). my friends looked gorgeous. i felt like i stood out, but in a really bad way. sure the dress i wore was nice, but it wasn’t anything like the outfits they were wearing; jeans and a fancy top.
the second thing: dancing on a bar in coyote ugly. i did it because, you only dance on a bar once and they were doing it. i can’t dance. i have zero rhythm in this body. dancing on a bar did nothing to help my self confidence. i felt like everybody was watching me and judging me and it made me want to disappear into my bed and never leave it again.
and the third thing, also happening in coyote ugly; riding a rodeo bull. sure i’d love to say that i was too drunk to care. but i wasn’t. i was tipsy sure, but not too drunk. the thing that made me hate myself during this section of the night out - i couldn’t even get on the bull. my thick ass thighs kept sticking to the seat of the bull and my weak arms couldn’t pull my fat ass up. Sure I got up eventually, but the embarrassment of not being able to get on a rodeo bull was enough to completely slam dunk my self esteem into a trash can and into a bottomless pit. so that was fantastic.
concerning the weekend with my family; i found myself crying in the bathroom silently before we went to cardiff because i wanted to dress up nice because we were going to a nice steakhouse, but my problems with my body just made me want to hide under a big baggy jumper.
and i did. i found my biggest, baggiest jumper and i hid in it, because I couldn’t stand to see my disgusting body in something vaguely form fitting. no one commented on it, no one cared, but i did. and to be honest, i think it ruined my birthday.
and thats so sad, that such a small insignificant thing could ruin a while day. but it did. and to me it didn’t feel like a small, insignificant thing. it felt like a huge weight on my shoulder, drowning me completely. it also impacted my relationship with my boyfriend. he noticed that i haven’t been texting him as much as i usually do (not that im crazy, i just like to know how his day is going) and when we were conversing I was barely responding and being quite distant. and i hate it that that’s a thing i do; isolating myself to deal with my problems. i’m better now. i talk to him as much as i used to do, if not slightly less because i have nothing to do at the moment and there’s no point texting him for a cuddle because i’m not anywhere near each other for that instant gratification.
there have been many a night this summer where i have depersonalised (link here for those who want to know more) because of these issues, and its so hard to pull myself out of that floaty feeling. I’m better at it now than I used to be, but it’s still so hard.
i’ve had so many things i need to do in preparation for third year of uni but these episodes of depersonalisation have really stood in the way of actually doing that. i’ve got photos of a mutual that i need to retouch and send back to her but i can’t pick up the energy to sit at my laptop and do that work because i feel disconnected to part of my body.
and knowing she’ll read this, she’ll say just send them over to me un-edited; but the nit-picky, perfectionist part of my brain refuses to let me do that. i can’t send them to you because these aren’t perfect. they aren’t right. i can’t send them because this stray hair is out of place or this photo isn’t quite correctly exposed and sure, it seems trivial but it isn’t to me.
i went to a convention this past weekend; asylum steampunk in lincoln. i was helping my mum sell her books, occasionally assisting a photographer and his team, and running around taking photos. it was an odd convention; i felt as though i’d both done a lot and nothing at the same time. usually i feel so tired after a multiple day convention that i need a four day nap to catch up. but i was actually okay.
i learned a lot about myself at that convention. firstly, i oddly like talking to people and selling books. sure it’s hella tiring for just sitting behind a stall and occasionally selling a product. but chatting to people was actually really nice. my family tend to stick to ourselves. for welsh people (y’know that stereotype that welsh people never shut up) we don’t tend to socialise much, and networking is not our strongest asset.
the other thing i, well i guess i re-learned; photographing people at conventions for fun is actually fun. For the past three or four conventions i’ve been to - comic, gaming and steampunk - i’ve always been thinking about how i can use the photos as a series for university. but this time; i wasn’t thinking about that. i wasn’t caring if the background was any good, or if the lighting was perfect. i was just taking the photos. and it was so relaxing and fun. it wasn’t work.
for three of the four days we were at that convention, i got into the spirit and i dressed up for it. One of the outfits, that was sort of like a steampunk-y mechanic was a wide-full leg jumpsuit that my mum and i made together a few weeks before. i tracked half of my journey of that on twitter, (the bits i did, the cutting the fabric etc - my mum actually sewed the whole thing together- though i did give her a shoutout on twitter for all her hardwork). I actually really enjoyed wearing that outfit (mostly because the pockets were s o b i g), for the other two days i went slightly more piratey, wearing striped brown and black l=pants and a flowey striped white shirt one day and a light lace skirt and off the shoulder top on the other. that skirt, i don’t know why i don’t wear it more often (aside from the fact it doesn’t fit any outfits i have and i’ll look like an idiot wearing it anywhere other than a convention) because i think i look so good in it (baring in mind the lack of body positivity i have, this is a big deal).
the other thing that i’ve been doing this summer is i’ve been getting into make-up and even fashion i guess, trying to learn how to do that stuff (man it’s hard, why didn’t i start earlier). make-ups not so much of a problem in what i’m about to talk about, but watching fashion videos on youtube is rather annoying when you’re an average to slightly above average weight. I’ve not found (until today, the videos i’m watching right now as i write this) any youtubers that are fashion related that are anywhere near the shape/weight that i am. They’re either super skinny waifs who can fit into anything they want (and like that one i saw, saying that a size fourteen is a great size for oversized clothing - bitch please, stop) or plus size and self confident with those curves in the right places and much bigger than i can relate to. not that there’s a problem with either, there’s just not as much representation for the ‘average’ person. there probably is and i just haven’t found it (currently watching lucy wood) and i need to look better into it. i can guarantee that is definitely the case. but still i’d love youtube to recommend those youtubers to me please.
something that i did realise from the steampunk weekend was that i was so busy ‘working’ if you can call it that, that i forgot to eat the crap that i usually eat during the day, and i guess i forgot to drink water (which is not a good thing, drink water kids). but the main thing is not eating crap all day, paired with the amount of walking i did that weekend (almost 30,000 steps over four days) has actually made me lose half a stone since the last time i weighed myself at the end of july. (so i’m very pleased about this)
so sure, while third year is going to be so, so stressful, i’m making steps towards feeling better about myself and making sure i do 5-10 thousand steps a day and not eat as much crap as i usually do, but most importantly; learning to love myself and my body.
oh my god this post is so long. i’m so sorry anyone who reads all this.
tl,dr: the month of august has been depressing, body issues galore and i’m probably being ridiculous but i’m trying to get better.

Chapter 42: Defend Day
I actually cannot believe how quickly I am writing these holy fuck. Probably gonna change real quick but hey in the meantime enjoy!
Warnings: I have no idea where this fic is headed any more, gee thanks guys for helping me decide, my request list is running low, well I still have a few things on it but I can’t do anything right NOW, so like, send me requests if you have them, oh yeah there’s some fighting in this chapter I guess
The two of you stared at the jacket for a while, your mind rushing to figure out how to deal with Flowey.
“I could take him to Hotland, if you are so concerned.” Gaster spoke up, noticing you stalling. “He is most likely in a weakened state. All it would take is a drop over lava-“
“We aren’t killing him.” You interrupted, slowly bringing your feet under you.
“I am sorry, what? Why ever not? Has he not caused you a great deal of pain? If I remember correctly, he is the reason your Soul is so damaged in the first place.” Gaster’s voice was thick with disbelief.
“I said; we aren’t killing him.” You repeated walking towards the jacket. Gaster appeared in front of you, blocking out the light as he looked down at you with piercing cold eyes.
“Do explain why we would not kill the being that infested my brother like a weed, puppeting him around like he was some play thing. Please, do tell me your excuse for keeping the abomination alive when it would not grant us the same liberty.” His flowing voice was sharp, eyes flashing brighter each sentence.
“Because I said so.” You growled back at the same tone, jabbing a finger at Gaster’s chest. “I’m not going to say anything stupid like ‘if we kill him then we are just as bad as him’ bullshit.” Your voice rose to be a mocking stereotypical hero for the line before dropping back to normal. “We aren’t killing him because I don’t kill, and I’m not going to allow you to kill him either.” You jabbed your finger at him again, feeling burning anger fill your chest.
He seemed taken aback at how determined you were to let Flowey live, and took a step backwards, hand on his chest where you jabbed him. He quickly recovered, frowning at you with narrowed eyes. “When it turns against you once more, do not expect me to come running to your rescue, human.”
“I didn’t ask for you to.” You stepped around Gaster and knelt by the jacket, slowly untying the sleeves. You could hear small sounds coming from the jacket, and when you finally unfolded it completely you saw Flowey looking wide-eyed at you, massive tears running down his face. His face looked more three-dimensional than usual, looking almost like Toriel’s.
He was sobbing quietly, looking utterly terrified of what you were going to do. You noticed most of his petals were in rough shape, folded and torn from the rough treatment inside the jacket. You carefully slipped your hands under him, and brought him to the kitchen.
“You okay?” You asked softly, trying to mask the leftover anger you had. He looked shocked, cutting his sobbing short.
“W-w-what?”
“Are you okay? You look damaged, and your stem was cut pretty high. Are you going to survive?” You asked again, holding him with one hand as you grabbed a Mason jar from the cupboards with the other.
“You… y-you really aren’t gonna k-kill me?” He asked, his eyes looking back to the living room, clearly having heard the conversation. You shook your head, pouring water from the fridge into the jar to have a couple centimeters.
“No, I’m not.” You said clearly, carefully dropping Flowey into the Mason jar. It was a little big for him, but it seemed to do the job well enough. “You’re just a kid. A really, really messed up kid, but I’m not about to kill you. Now answer my question, are you going to live?”
“Y-yeah… It’ll take some time to regenerate roots, but…” He avoided eye contact, looking down as you brought him to the counter and set his jar down. “After everything that happened, you still-“
“I don’t get to decide your punishment.” You cut him off, turning his jar around and pushing it to the corner. “I’m not the one you nearly killed- well I am… I mean, ack, just stay in the corner and think about what you’ve done. Sans gets the final word for your punishment, but... I won’t let him kill you.” You didn’t know why you are trying to comfort him, he nearly killed both you and Sans, but you couldn’t bring yourself to treat him less than human.
“T… thank you.” He said quietly.
“You’re welcome.” You said flatly, taking a breath. Flowey turned to look at you a moment before settling in the jar, accepting the ‘stand in the corner’ punishment. You walked out of the kitchen and sat back to where you were before, Gaster already sitting where he was earlier. He was looking perplexed at his chest, hand close to it.
“Did I jab too hard?” You asked. Your mood has been successfully soured of its earlier state, but you pulled up your laptop again. Gaster looked at you confused for a moment, before lowering his hand.
“Not at all. You… well, never mind. It is not important.” He adjusted his position, looking at your screen as you restarted the page. You could feel his eyes on you every so often, but you ignored it and let the show run its magic.
It was strange watching the show with Gaster. Every time you glanced over you saw him looking like he was studying it, absorbing every frame possible. Honestly you were still surprised he wasn’t asking any questions about the show. He seemed to accept the strange and alien characters without a thought, though you suppose it was more of a comedic last couple episodes. Every time you heard his low chuckle it threw you off guard, but you were glad he was enjoying it at least.
As you were loading up the final episode, you heard Sans move behind you. You looked to see him uncomfortably shifting around, before suddenly sitting bolt upright.
“NO!” He shouted, freezing as reality started to sink in. You could see him sweating, his blue eye flaming from whatever last second dream he seemed to have had. He took a heavy breath, grabbing the back of the couch with a hand to keep himself upright. The blue flame flickered, slowly fading away as he brought a hand to his head and letting out a quiet groan.
“Headache?” You asked, startling him to look at you. His eye lights were fuzzier than usual, seeming to have a hard time focusing. When they finally sharpened you could see him relax ever so slightly, the worried frown of his replaced by a more confused one as he looked at you. Gaster turned to look at him, and the movement caught Sans’ eyes.
“W-What is he doing out!?” He yelled, recoiling and trying to stand. In his frantic flailing he ended up falling off of the back of the couch with a heavy thud. Before you could even lift yourself to check on him, he was already standing again, keeping the couch between him and Gaster.
“That is one way of saying thank you, I suppose.” Gaster said in an unimpressed voice.
“Sans, it’s cool, he’s on our side now.” You quickly phrased. “He helped you-“
“Helped?” Sans’ voice rose an octave at that notion. “Is that what he told you? Because I remember getting my body hijacked not once, but twice in a row!” You saw him change his stance to a defensive one, as if he expected a fight to erupt. You quickly stood. “Do you even know what that is like? Let me tell you, it does not feel anything like helping.”
“Sans, calm down. I’m sorry, I couldn’t think of anything else to do-“
“Quiet down, dear.” Gaster interrupted you, silently standing as well. “Go on, Brother. Continue telling your human how it was wrong to ask for my help when they were fatally wounded. How they should have let you be puppeted for the rest of your life by the weed, and let themselves die at your feet.” His cold voice held back no punches, acting like a slap to the face for Sans.
“I… I didn’t mean-“ Sans’ anger immediately faltered, and his words stumbled.
“No, but that is what you were saying.” Gaster rested a hand on your shoulder, narrowing his eyes at Sans. “You owe this human your life yet again, brother. Act like it.” You could feel his grip on you tighten ever so slightly. Sans immediately averted his eyes.
“Sorry…” Sans started, continuing to look at the ground.
“No, it’s okay.” You stepped out from under Gaster’s hand till you were in front of Sans. “We all had a stressful… however long this all was.” You swallowed, gently bringing your hands to Sans’ arms. He recoiled slightly at the touch, but relaxed and slowly let you hold him. “Are you okay though? How are you feeling?” You asked softly.
“Like… I have the worst hangover in my life.” Sans groaned slightly, bringing a hand to his head. “I can’t exactly explain it. It feels like a ringing in my skull.”
“That may be magic damage from the transformation.” Gaster offered, sitting down and crossing one leg over the other gracefully. “It should eventually fix itself. Think of it like you listened to music too loudly one night, and now you hear noise even in a silent room.” He explained in layman’s terms, looking at you as he did so.
“Except it wasn’t a song rattling my bones, just you.” Sans sourly added, looking at Gaster.
“Oh my apologies, should I fetch you a ladder to help you get over it, brother?” You could practically season food with the salt in his voice. “Like your human said, it was the best we could do in such short notice.” Gaster let out a slightly exaggerated sigh, turning his attention nonchalantly to his hands. That phrase seemed to draw Sans’ attention.
“So… It really is you then, Dings.” Sans asked, seeming to take the time to look more at Gaster’s appearance.
“Of course it is me, who else would I be?” Gaster rolled his eyes, tracing the hole of his palm with a finger.
“I meant… You look different. That night when you first showed up, you seemed so unlike yourself that I wasn’t sure that it was you or… what was left of you, spit up by the Void.” Sans explained, and you could see Gaster frown at that, but continued to play with his hand like how humans played with their nails. No wonder Sans wasn’t exactly acting ‘brotherly’ to Gaster, you figured. You had assumed his relationship with Papyrus would be the type of brotherly love he would have had for his other brother as well, but your first night down here was proof enough to the contrary.
“My appearance has changed, yes. Consequences of my time in the Void, I am sure. However it is still me, and here I am, attempting to live alongside my little brother once more.” He glanced towards Sans. “My memory of your time on the surface is fuzzy at best, but if I recall properly, you are living with the human.” His halos drifted towards you. “It would be terribly difficult for me to adjust to living on the surface alone. You humans are unnecessarily complex creatures with strange habits. Perhaps you would allow me time to observe your lifestyle within your home until I could properly adjust my life to fit the surface?”
You blinked at the excessive vocabulary that could have simply translated to ‘can I crash at your place for a while?’ “I mean, sure. It’s not like you have anywhere else you can go…” You accepted casually before glancing at Sans. Even though it was your place, Sans was also living with you now. He hesitantly shrugged, seeming slightly against the idea but not exactly able to say no to Gaster.
“You’ll have to explain yourself to Papyrus, but I think the place is big enough for the four of us.” Sans said.
“Five.” Gaster corrected. You felt your eyebrows lower, confused. You struggled to do basic math. You, Papyrus, Gaster, Sans… and- “My apologies.” Gaster looked at you, seeing your confused face. “I had assumed the weed would be coming with us.”
Your eyes widened, realizing you didn’t tell Sans about Flowey yet. The air in the room drastically changed, and Sans stiffened under your hands. When you looked to face him you saw his eyes lights were gone, leaving a hollow stare. You felt him shake ever so slightly.
“Where is he?” He asked, voice becoming low.
“Don’t worry, he won’t be causing any more trouble.” You quickly started, trying to defuse Sans’ anger as quickly as possible. Your mind raced, trying to choose the best words to explain the situation to him. You stepped slightly closer to him, trying to make it clear you were on his side. “I managed to-“
“In the kitchen.” Gaster offered over your voice, interrupting any cushion you were trying to form. Sans immediately turned to rush into the next room, pulling out of your hands.
“Sans wait!” You tried grabbing him only for him to teleport a couple inches out of your grip.
“He needs to pay.“
“Sans! I know you are angry but please!” You quickly darted after him to the kitchen to see Sans look around quickly before finally seeing the Mason jar. Flowey was tucked down, trying to hide behind the glass. Sans reached for the jar and you quickly snagged it before him, holding it behind your back.
“Not now, Vertebae. Give him here.” Sans held out a hand to you, looking like he was struggling to hold back his magic. His voice was thick with anger, but his eyes were empty except for the spark of blue every other second.
“Not until I know your intentions with him.” You quickly said, squaring your shoulders, heart beating just a little too quickly.
“I’m only going to burn him to a crisp, then you can have him right back.” Sans said the last word through ground teeth, blue eye flaring to life. You took a step back, shaking your head. “Would you prefer the garbage disposal? Or I can also stomp really hard if that’s what you want. Trust me, I’ve done it before plenty of times.” He took a step forward, urging his open hand towards you more.
“We aren’t killing him.” You quickly said, taking another half step back. Sans’ open hand shook a moment, snapping into a fist as his magic burst.
“Like hell we aren’t.” He growled, lifting the fist. The Mason jar in your hands suddenly flew to the ceiling, crashing and shattering the glass above you. You shrieked, covering your head to protect yourself from the glass. Flowey landed hard on the ground with a gasp, and blue magic surrounded him, lifting him off of the ground. “There you are.” Sans dark voice scared you.
You leaped forward to grab Flowey, screaming as your bare foot stepped on the fresh glass, making you flinch and fall hard on the tiled floor. Thankfully you didn’t land on any more glass, and held Flowey tight against your chest. You ground your teeth, trying to hold back tears from the pain.
“Vert- What are you doing?!” Sans asked, infuriated. “Just give him to me already, he deserves everything he has coming!” You saw him lean down towards you, and you curled even tighter around Flowey.
“No! This isn’t you! We aren’t killing him!” You immediately tried to summon your teleporting powers, thinking maybe you could get someplace fast enough to save Flowey. Waterfall. Hotland. Ruins. Anywhere. You felt the start of needles prickling at your skin-
“Brother.”
Gaster’s chilling voice caused the two of you to instantly freeze. He was standing in the entry of the kitchen, looking almost winded. He was looking at the broken glass, then at your feet, before finally settling on Sans. His expression changed from concern, to disappointment. “Your human is hurt. Perhaps it would be wise to take care of that before handling your revenge.” He coldly said, motioning with his hands and lifting you off of the ground. You yelped, not expecting the floating, but made sure to keep Flowey close as the orange magic carried you to the couch.
“What?” Sans’ eyes seemed confused before they widened, seeing the spots of blood on the ground, and he quickly stepped to follow you. Gaster held up a hand, shoving Sans back a step. “I think it would be best if you took care of the glass first.” He lifted his chin, giving Sans a cold look before walking next to you. You saw him eye Flowey, but you held the flower tighter. He tilted his head ever so slightly before accepting it, turning his attention to your foot as he gently lowered you down, propping your feet on the arm of the couch.
Gaster knelt down and made small motions with his fingers, and you could feel small shards being pulled out one by one out of your foot without any pain. It was going fine until his body suddenly dipped forward, causing a piece of glass to cut further into you. You yelped and he quickly recovered, pulling it out without any more stinging. “My apologies.” He looked closely to make sure that there wasn’t more, using the back of his wrist to wipe at his forehead.
“You’re sweating.” You noticed. It wasn’t like he was part of the fight.
“It’s nothing.” He said simply, moving a hand towards the kitchen. A small hand towel quickly floated across the room and into his hand, and he quietly dabbed at your foot to clear it from blood. Seeming satisfied, he motioned once more at your foot, and you felt something wet stick itself to you, you assumed it was some of his tar. “There we go.” He said plainly, standing once again. “Keep off your foot for a few hours and it will be good as new.” He said in the same tone a doctor would prescribe medication in.
You nodded, sitting up against the far armrest and pulling your feet close to you, opening up the couch for him. Gaster took the other armrest seat, leaning back and closing his eyes. Maybe he used too much magic, you figured. You looked up to see Sans standing at the entrance of the kitchen, looking concerned but avoiding eye contact with you. Your mouth opened to say something, but you shut it and looked away. Flowey looked up at you still seeming scared, but thankful that you were protecting him. You adjusted your seat and tucked him between your elbow and stomach towards the armrest, granting him the most protection you could offer with the least amount of effort and potential squeezing.
“Are… you okay?” Sans finally broke the tense quiet in the air, still standing in his spot. You glanced towards him briefly, quickly looking back towards the floor in front of you.
“Yep.” You swallowed, your mind already replaying how he looked at you a few minutes ago. It was terrifying, knowing he was capable of so much anger. Sure, you doubted you would be any better in that situation, but… the way he looked at you-
“Vertebae, listen-“ He stepped towards you, and you pulled your knees closer.
“We aren’t killing him.” You stressed, aggressively staring at a stain on the floor in front of you.
“No, I understand that now.” Sans walked in front of you, cutting off your view of the stain. “I… I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I let my anger get between us and hurt you, I never meant for that.” You saw the tip of one of his fingers was slightly red, like he touched the blood in the kitchen before cleaning it up properly. You looked up slowly, seeing his concerned eyes watching you. At the eye contact he averted his lights, looking at Flowey. “I don’t understand why you would ever want to defend him, of all creatures… But I’m not going to let you get hurt because of my anger.” His eyes met with yours again, and you held the gaze for a moment before sighing and looking away.
“…Sit down, Sans.” You adjusted your feet to make sure there was enough room on the couch. He paused a moment, slowly turning and sitting on the cushion between you and Gaster. He waited for you to say something, and you could see his hands clench and relax over and over out of stress. “Grab my laptop and hit play.”
“What?” He seemed confused, but he slowly grabbed the laptop anyway.
“I’m not sure what to say right now, so I’m just going to finish my show and say something when the episode is done.” You said, getting comfortable in the seat. You saw Sans looking at you questionably from the corner of your eye.
“Are you being serious, or-“
“Dead serious. Unless you really want to continue talking this moment; I personally would like to be in a better mood if I’m being honest here.”
“Fair enough.” Sans accepted your form of advanced procrastination, and hit play on the last episode.
