💀Being Suguru Geto's ex lover waking up after 10 years of cryogenic sleep only to find out that your lover is alive again and posessed by a shaman named Kenjaku💀 - headcanons/scenario/short story (crack fic???) - angst
Tumblr media
Edit - I want to thank for the hearts, I don't really deserve your kindness sweet people of the internet, thank you for liking it
Okay, this is a reall weird pov but I wanted to write it, please don't judge me, I have read the manga up until one point and got too sad to continue it, I haven't seen the movie yet so if I make any mistakes please forgive me, this isn't supposed to be 100 percent canon anyway. For the first time I will write a bit of angst and not nsfw which is a shocker, the original plan was to make the reader either a necromancer or a demon but I decided against it. I apologize for the shitty writting I haven't slept in two days and have like a lot of things to do at home and probably start a job and am not my best self but felt inspired to write today, so here we go. The story is all over the place and may at moments be very random. Enjoy
Pov - being Geto's ex and being jealous of Gojo and hating him thinking he is the reason why geto broke up with you randomly, being so strong and unstable that you had to be put into cryogenic sleep by Yaga and wake up ten years later with amnesia only to find tokyo in ruins and that you are a cursed spirit being interwined as a human woman being forced to die and relive the same fate in the same body over and over again, being Sukuna's first and only lover and being destined to destroy Kenjaku and his plans. Warnings - f.reader
💔 You were awoken from your sleep basically by what felt like an earthquake, caused by the Shibuya incident, you woke up at the high school in a bed that looked similar to a coffin. Slowly waking up you looked around to literally see no one, expecting to at least see your childhood friends like Gojo or Shoko has left you puzzled since you saw their faces last, when you went to sleep
💔Basically you had too much energy and powers that you couldn't contain which attracted other cursed spirits to you, despite training in the school you never felt strong enough, at least not like Gojo, which hurt your ego and pride a bit, after lashing out and having a panic attack with a special grade cursed spirit, and destroying half of the city you were requested to train individually from now on, which made you feel lonely and eventually a deal was made, the higher ups wouldn't kill you but you would need to sleep for 10 years and not wake up, and that's what happened
💔You met Geto, Satoru and Shoko in high school and became best friends, you manage with your power to quickly recap everything that happened for the last ten years, learning that Gojo killed Geto, and the brain took over since his body wasn't disposed of, learnt about every and each fight among the new students, learnt about his goal about wanting to kill all nonsorcerers and Rika. That was too much information to take in all at once, your Geto would never do that - you thought as tears fell down your cheeks and on the ground, buildings fallen apart next you and dead bodies laying on the ground, his extremist views make you wonder if putting you to sleep was the right thing to do, maybe Gojo...maybe you could have saved him?
💔You learnt that Gojo was imprisoned in a cube, you take your weapon which was a scythe and teleport just like Gojo to the place where he is in front of him with the scythe laying on your shoulder. The students and the other socrers seem to look at you confused, but it seems some of them recognize you, who stare in disbelief, Yuji is too confused and just asks who is that and for the first time in a long time, Sukuna seems interested in something other than fighting, being arrogant asshole and Fushiguro Megumi.
💔You've always felt that Geto and Gojo had something going on while you dated him, and maybe that is why he decided to break up with you randomly for no reason after dating for two years, he never told you the reason, but you suspected it was because of Gojo and you learnt to hate the arrogant white haired rich bastard for that, for stealing geto from you, for killing him-Your emotions getting the better of you and swinging the scythe exactly to his neck ready to kill him but being too much of a coward to do so, Geto or whoever was controlling him seemed too calm as if he knew who you were and that you wouldn't kill him
💔 "Y/n L/n, hmm I have never expectected one of the five special grade sorcerers to come here, also known as Suguru Geto's friend, and ex lover, your technique and weapon is interesting though. But what are you going to do, your precious Geto is dead" his chukles mocked her " And the strongest jujutsu sorcerer is sealed in this cube" He looked at Yuji "I wonder what is your trump card, Sukuna's vessel or The destroyer of worlds" he then looked at you
💔Part of the reason why you were so dangerous and why Sukuna and other curses felt so attracted to you is because you were the reincarnation of Sukuna's first lover, another cursed spirit, who caused pain, death and havoc along side him, but both of your memories were stripped away, you found your self getting weaker and weaker and eventually had to mesh with a newborn baby girl whose mother left her in a basket inside a lake since she couldn't take care of her, you became your own curse, being forced to live though the centuries in the same body with amnesia and being seen and treated like a human who had too much questionable cursed energy to be an ordinary girl, too much destructiveness, too much anger to contain inside your small body
💔A fight broke after Geto attacked you, some of the others like Yuji tried to scream out your name but you couldn't hear him since you had to block Geto's attacks, as he sent you flying into a building breaking a few windows, as you tried to stand up he kicked you so hard that he made the building shake and start to collapse, making you and him fall a few floors under.
💔The fight seemed like it went on forever as Geto as destroying sorcerer after sorcerer in front of your eyes, holding them by the head and dragging them on the floor as blood spilled out their bodies, laughing like a maniac, this wasn't the Geto you know...this wasn't Geto, this wasn't Geto, you constantly thought as if the loud sounds finally stopped for a few minutes and you attacked him from behind only for him to attack you with the dead body of Panda on top of you. You took hit after hit, bleeding again and again as Geto got enjoyment from hurting you, thinking that he weakned you this way
💔It was like his laugh was never ending as you closed your eyes trying to find your inner voice for a moment " This isn't Geto " you still thought and opened them, now Geto being in front of you with a sick smile. "Y/n" Yuji tried to mumble as he was barely holding him self on his legs, you were suddenly reminded of Nanami and half of him being completely destroyed as he was trying to protect Yuji, you didn't want his death to go in vain, for a glimpse you thought you saw Sukuna's eyes flicker, with the same love flame that they did many years ago, did he remember, did he knew? And did Geto really know everything about you, more than you did your self?
💔You saw that Geto moved to attack Sukuna's vessel with your scythe in hands which he stole during the battle, wanting to make one final hit but instead pierced your stomach with your own scythe, he laughed at you saying how foolish and naive you are to do a sacrifice like that, making Sukuna livid as he transforms. But little did both men know that you had your own trump card in your sleeve, a place which nuetralized any cursed technique, a place where being attacked and hit made you two times more powerful? Now it was time for you to laugh, which stunned both Geto and Sukuna. You took the scythe out of Geto's hand with force that he didn't expect, especially coming from a woman, you turned to kiss Sukuna's bloodied lips, whispering to him how much you love him and after that slapped Geto for making you go through this, before pulling his hair harshly making him hiss. You licked his ear and whispered
"Domain expansion - Dismantled reality" before both of you disappeared in front of Sukuna, only leaving the cube on the floor as the biggest reminder that both of you fought seconds ago.
Yeah I know this sucks, please don't be too rude to me, I tried my best, I haven't slept in two days and feel so severely horrible and might just take a nap, good night yall

7 and 10 for Alphys?
thank you!!!
7 ended up being like. a short improvisational fic. i didn't intend for that to happen but. it did lol. so i'm putting it under a cut because lemgth
7 - food/cooking
she had a friend for a while, not too memorable as a person, apparently, since even his name evades her now, but she remembers he liked to take her places, interrupting her weekend staycations to drag her off to the light rail station and into the City, the terribly big City with its too-cool bourgeois bars and loud, crowded basement shows and crosswalks crawling with humans and monsters who wore and walked a swagger that made her feel infinitesimal in her already diminutive frame. her friend (what’d he look like, again? tall?), tall and cosmopolitan amidst the chaos, seemed oddly at ease there, radiating a patient peace from his palm into hers as he coaxed her along, pointing out curiosities as they walked — historical-place plaques, architectural oddities, trees in funny shapes.
she had to admit it was fun once she’d shivered off the overwhelm, and she quickly found her favorite spots: the central library, the biggest she’d seen since her grad school days, where they’d pick through heavy textbooks and study antique maps with subdued glee; Third Thursdays after-hours at the science museum, where they’d grab grown-up drinks and indulge their inner kids with planetarium shows and ancient bones, riding the earthquake simulator as many times as they could stand; the two-story Japanese bookstore, where she’d pull him around manga shelves and chatter about Mew Mew and Hacksaw Guy and Horodehoro, where he’d read her snippets of poetry from the untranslated books and share in her awe at the Perfect Grade Fundams her schoolteacher salary could never justify buying; and, of course, the Ramen Shop, tucked under a faded awning in an alley a few blocks away, that dished out fragrant bowls of springy noodles entirely unlike the drab instant cups of her day-to-day. the best trips always included a dip into sticky tonkotsu or bright yuzu shio and cups of sake, cloudy-sweet or dark and mushroom-dank, as she relayed the funnier stories of failed experiments from her university lab, her friend (the smile. right. the smile.) flashing crooked grins between sips.
it's been years since her friend seemingly vanished, taking with him the City trips and, most tragically, the Ramen Shop. she finally decides to try it on her own, stepping out shakily onto the International District platform, only to find herself rocked again by the bustle of it all, lacking reinforcement and convinced she’ll crumble. she huddles on a bench until her brain stops buzzing and some semblance of strength returns to her knees, and then she books it onto the next train to Hometown, looking up instant ramen hacks on her phone to pass the time, to imagine something filling the aching emptiness suddenly groaning below her chest.
she browses blankly through college recipe blogs and listicles before something catches her eye: How to Make Perfect Tonkotsu at Home, from a website claiming brazenly the seriousness of its eats, and indeed the article is obsessive – scientific, even – in its approach. the author tests and documents, comparing cuts of bone for optimal yields of collagen, gelatin, and fats, boiling spaghetti in alkaline solutions to replicate the texture of authentic noodles, charting the moisture loss of pork belly under various cooking methods, even cooking bagged slices in a precise bain-marie and finishing them perfectly Maillard with a blowtorch. a freaking blowtorch!
so enthralled is she by methodology that she hardly thinks twice before exiting at an early stop, Awaytown, home to Hometown's nearest full-sized supermarket, through which she winds with laser focus and fills a basket with things she’s never before thought to buy. who knew they sold bags of pork trotters in the same aisle as the frozen dumplings?
it isn’t until she’s in her little apartment kitchen, looking over the ingredients occupying every inch of counter space, that she remembers she’s never cooked anything in her life more advanced than jarred sauce over pasta, and again comes the quake.
she steels herself this time, hugging her arms around her chest, trying her best to think calmly through the steps before her. first, blanch and clean the bones…
the bones. she squeezes her sides, reminded of her ribs, her spine, her structure rattling inside while still retaining her shape.
“Impressive seismic engineering,” he said, gently shaking her shoulder as they wobbled off the simulation. “Strong material, to start. Counteractive damping. Fluid sockets for shock absorption and shearing. We are not all so durable or flexible, you know.”
She laughed. “I’m surprised they even let you on that thing.”
“I suppose they leave such concerns to the waiver,” he replied through an impish smile, removing his hand from her shoulder before reattaching it, nonchalantly, to his other arm.
…he did what? that can’t be right. brains find strange ways to fill in gaps.
what was she doing, again? she glances at the article open on her phone. a new experiment. that’s right. she rolls up her sleeves with trembling hands and sets herself to work.
10 - sleep
she’s been a bad sleeper since she was a kid, thrashing and mumbling frantically, kicking her parents while sleeping between them, scaring the shit out of superstitious kids at summer camp, getting chewed out by dorm-mates for making so much noise the night before finals.
she hardly has nightmares, far as she can tell upon waking. it doesn't work like the familiar anxiety of the light, the stumbling, jumbled-up thoughts, the catastrophic ideation and trembling prey-animal flush.
the fear in the dark is a more primal possessor, fearful and dumb and unable to express itself except through whimpers and the clumsy puppeting of limbs. it has no words to describe itself, no images it can present to her. it hides deep in her gut, her muscles, her throat, biding time for dreams to distract her mind before it tries to claw its way out.*
the first morning she wakes up with undyne is the first morning in years that she wakes up rested, the bedsheets untangled, her palms dry of clammy sweats, the demon in her seemingly eased by the gentle squeeze of powerful arms, the warm lips against her shoulder, the deep, rhythmic push of the breathing body against her back. as she nestles into calming compression, she feels the tickle of an idea.
i bet she'd love the Ramen Shop.
*this is about somaticized complex stress to be clear LMAO she's not actually possessed by chara undertale or whatever. ok

Anime i’ve Watched
That begin with a K (Part 2)!
Yep this is how i’m going to bring over all the anime and manga i’ve watched and posted about on the old blog. It’s not so detailed but it will have to do. Anything new I watch or read from this point on will have their own posts.
Karneval
Genres: action, fantasy, josei, mystery, sci-fi
Tumblr media
Synopsis:  While in search of his precious friend, a young boy named Nai falls captive to a beautiful woman, whose looks are matched only by her taste for human flesh. As she transforms into a ghoulish monster, the boys flee. On the run, Nai and Gareki are found by "Circus," a government defense agency that deals with criminal activity too difficult for the police to handle and protects civilians from "varuga"—terrible monsters that devour humans for sustenance. In the hope that it will lead Nai to his missing friend, he and Gareki decide to join Circus. On their perilous journey, they face dangerous varuga and begin to uncover the secrets behind a shadowy organization known as Kafka. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

My Rating: 7/10
Finished airing in 2013 with a total of 13 episodes.
My Thoughts: Love the character design and I was interested in the story but the series is far too short. I’d suggest you go read the manga (which is farther along) but it’s rarely updated so I can’t confidently say it’s worth the read. Your choice is read/ watch this and suffer alongside me with the lack of updates or erase its existence from your mind. Your call!

My Rating: 10/10
Finished airing in 2019 with a total of 23 episodes.
My Thoughts: This was a masterpiece in my opinion, an anime I won’t soon forget and one of the best of its season without a doubt! Good stuff right here and not in a high school setting which is a change of pace for a sports anime! A very satisfying anime that I highly recommend.
Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises)
Genres: drama, historical, romance, film
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Although Jirou Horikoshi's nearsightedness prevents him from ever becoming a pilot, he leaves his hometown to study aeronautical engineering at Tokyo Imperial University for one simple purpose: to design and build planes just like his hero, Italian aircraft pioneer Giovanni Battista Caproni. For Jirou, the years leading up to the production of his infamous Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter aircraft will test every fiber of his being. From witnessing firsthand the growing antisemitism in Germany to fatefully reuniting with Naoko at a summer resort, his many travels and life experiences only urge him onward—even as he realizes both the role of his creations in the war and the reality of the waning health of his beloved. As time marches on, he must confront an impossible question: at what cost does he chase his beautiful dream? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

A film released in 2013

My Rating: 8/10
Finished airing in 2015 with a total of 12 episodes.
My Thoughts: I recall this terribly sad episode that was an absolute masterpiece but to be honest the rest of the series didn’t leave much of an impression on me. I didn’t even bother watching the second season when it came out. Do what you will with that information.
Kenka Banchou Otome: Girl Beats Boys

Tumblr media

My Rating: 7/10
Finished airing in 2017 with a total of 12 episodes.
My Thoughts: Reverse harem style, tv short with a tomboy female lead. Not really long enough to leave much of an impression but fun enough if you have some time to waste. Surprisingly great art/ animation.
Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun
Genres: comedy, seinen, sports
Tumblr media
Synopsis:  He is charming, cool, athletic, a good cook, but more importantly, he's a clean freak. Aoyama is idolized and respected by everyone, but they can only admire him from afar due to his mysophobia. Despite that, he plays soccer—a rather dirty sport! However, the path to Nationals will not be easy for Fujimi's underdog team. But alongside striker Kaoru Zaizen, Aoyama will show everyone that even as a clean freak, there are things he's willing to get dirty for. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Tumblr media
My Rating: 7/10
Finished airing in 2017 with a total of 12 episodes.
My Thoughts: comical with what I recall to be very little focus on the actual playing of sports which is a bummer if that’s what you’re looking for. It was alright but there are definitely better comedy (and for sure sports) anime's out there!
Kill la Kill
Genres: action, comedy, superpower, school
Tumblr media
Synopsis:  After the murder of her father, Ryuuko Matoi has been wandering the land in search of his killer. Following her only lead—the missing half of his invention, the Scissor Blade—she arrives at the prestigious Honnouji Academy, a high school unlike any other. The academy is ruled by the imposing and cold-hearted student council president Satsuki Kiryuuin alongside her powerful underlings, the Elite Four. In the school's brutally competitive hierarchy, Satsuki bestows upon those at the top special clothes called "Goku Uniforms," which grant the wearer unique superhuman abilities. Thoroughly beaten in a fight against one of the students in uniform, Ryuuko retreats to her razed home where she stumbles across Senketsu, a rare and sentient "Kamui," or God Clothes. After coming into contact with Ryuuko's blood, Senketsu awakens, latching onto her and providing her with immense power. Now, armed with Senketsu and the Scissor Blade, Ryuuko makes a stand against the Elite Four, hoping to reach Satsuki and uncover the culprit behind her father's murder once and for all. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Tumblr media
My Rating: 9/10
Finished airing in 2014 with a total of 24 episodes.
My Thoughts: One of my top three favourite anime's of all time despite my not giving it a perfect score and the sole reason i’m such a Trigger fangirl despite the way they continue to disappoint me with each and every new release... Highly recommend! Fair warning there’s plenty of skimpy outfits and fan service which may turn some off but if you can get past it this really is an anime worth checking out. Great story, characters, music and style! A chaotic feast for the eyes and ears! I really should rewatch it...

Chronology of Noragami
To match the events in Noragami with real-life data, we’ve used everything: festivities mentioned, important events that have occurred in Japan, natural disasters, seasonal flower blossoming, study trimesters, exams and school holidays, moon phases that have appeared in the manga, solar and lunar eclipses, Hiyori and Yukine’s birthdays, Hiyori’s diary, and even Yato’s clothes.
Several members of Noragami_ru Manga discussed the series and its time frames, armed with both inspiration and critical thinking. There was a lot of information to process; some of the manga events were very easy to match with the calendar, while others really fell out of the timeline. A prime example is chapter 73. It was impossible to reconcile with any given date and broke the straight string of the events that did line up. Sometimes Hiyori’s diary would cavort and list its dates at random. However, we do know that the events of Noragami happen within the time frame of a little over a year. This one’s easy to check and  prove. The manga started when Hiyori met Yato, several days later they found Yukine and a year later, right after his first birthday, Yukine was accosted by Mizuchi and ended up stinging Yato. Yato then decided to end his father’s attacks once and for all and went to confront him.
Adachitoka started working on Noragami in 2010, and the first chapter was published by Kodansha in January 2011. These dates were the first ones to come to mind. Naturally, other years were carefully examined; members of the fandom stocked up with “magnifying glasses” and “microscopes” and meticulously checked and double-checked several other calendars and tried to reconcile them with the events of the manga. But years 2010-2011 were the ones that fit the best, and very soon you’ll see why. Get ready, dear members, readers and (un)expected guests. We can’t promise you over-the-top fun times. But we hope that you will be pleasantly surprised and look at Noragami and its amazing universe in a different light. Let’s go!
This is our first main clue:
Tumblr media
Hiyori says that it’s been two weeks since she first met Yato and became a half-ayakashi. The same day in the evening, they’ll find Yukine. “We had an early snow that day… I wonder if that’s why Yato named him Yukine?”, Hiyori will recollect a year later. It was 29 November, the end of 2010. The sky is overcast, it’s snowing, the moon can’t be seen so it’s impossible to match its phase with the calendar. But we will reconcile memorable dates with moon phases later.
Tumblr media
Here we can see young moon behind the trees. It’s an early winter evening; Hiyori comes home and brings Yukine along. Judging by the moon phase, it’s sometime between 10-12 December 2010. Hiyori’s parents come home and say that they’ve been at the class reunion. Those are usually held on Saturdays. If so, the date is 11 December.
The encounter and the first fight with Bishamon happen during fool moon:
Tumblr media
First signs of indelible blight start showing on Yato’s skin; Nora appears and tries to persuade him to give up on Yukine and use her instead. The fool moon at the picture looks like it’s been marred by dirt. Date-wise these coincide with 20-21 December 2010. A full lunar eclipse happened that night in real life. In Japan it could be seen in the evening, after the moon rising. Here is a quote from the Russian Wikipedia: “Since this lunar eclipse coincided with winter solstice, 21 December became “the darkest day” in the last 372 years. The next lunar eclipse on 21 December will happen only in 2094”.
The next is “Christmas” chapter (22-26 December). Yato is wearing a Santa cap, there’s a festive shop sign on the wall:
Tumblr media
In chapter 9 Hiyori goes on a temple visit to Tenjin’s shrine and New Year’s celebration with her friends. She miraculously avoids death on 1 January:
Tumblr media
7 January to 25 March is the last school trimester in Japan. Hiyori is wondering where Yato is. It’s the 3-4th lunar day, when there’s no moon yet, but there are signs of a very slim crescent.
Tumblr media
Yato’s epiphany in girl’s bathroom
Soon enough, Yato and Yukine will have to go through misogi – the ablution ritual.
By the way, these two important events changed places in the anime. There, Yato was dying from blight sometime near the end of December, perhaps on that same “darkest day” of the lunar eclipse. Several days later, on New Year’s, Nora set her ayakashi on Hiyori.
Yato meets up with Nora during another full moon. Why can’t they just sleep on these moonlit nights?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is it 20 January 2011? Or is it already 18 February?
Yukine meets Suzuha when the first spring flowers start blooming:
Tumblr media
Hiyori is graduating from middle school and preparing to enter high school. Plumes are blooming (which means it’s either February or March), and Hiyori has her promotion exams coming when she is kidnapped by Kugaha. Yato and Yukine rash to Bishamon’s residence to rescue the girl:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yato engages Bishamon in battle on the night of the crescent moon:
Tumblr media
If we try to match first flowers blooming on the ground with plum blossoming, then it can’t be February, which means it’s the beginning of March. A crescent like this generally appears on 7-9th lunar day. Date-wise it lines up with 10-12 March 2011. The date that interests us is 11 March, since it was a memorable one for Japan. A huge earthquake occurred that day on the eastern cost of Honshu, resulting in a giant tsunami. Nearly 16 thousand people died and 2.5 thousand went missing.
In Noragami this event leads to the gods’ council in Takamagahara:
Tumblr media
Bishamon manages to prove that her fall was the sorcerer’s doing, so the Heavens start their hunt on Ebisu. As a result, the actual perpetrator who’s used Aiha and Kugaha to set two warrior gods against each other goes unpunished, whereas Ebisu becomes a scapegoat.
Sakura starts blooming when Hiyori enters high school:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First trimester begins on 1 April. Hiyori is ignoring Yato. According to the calendar, it’s the new moon. Fujisaki enters the scene.
However, as soon as Suzuha’s sakura starts blooming, Hiyory gathers Yato and Yukine, Tenjin, Kofuku and Bishamon and their shinki for flower gazing. There’s even a date this time – 13 April.
Tumblr media
The events of chapter 26 happen in early May. End of April – beginning of May are holidays in Japan, which Hiyori spends at home with her parents. Her diary, which we will examine later, is absolutely blank during this time. Hiyori’s mom says that it’s only May, but the water reservoir is empty. There’s also a newscast on TV about possible water shortage in summer, possibly due to abnormal weather conditions
Tumblr media
This time Nora appears on a moonless night and kidnaps Yato. Two weeks later Hiyori is seen looking for Yato, asking Daikoku and Tenjin about him. She is doing it with a purpose, since she has plans for 8 May.
Hiyori’s diary here deserves special attention:
Tumblr media
It’s easy to match the dates with the calendar. For example, 10th is a Monday, January, therefore, 11th is a Tuesday. The next page of the diary has another Monday on it – 17th. The dates on the second frame are hard to match with anything, but there’s a mention of the picnic on the third one – 12-13 April, the days are Tuesday and Wednesday. On the fifth frame the pages with dates from 25 April to 7 May are empty. But there’s a trip to Capyper Land scheduled on Sunday.
Yato says he’s been living at his father’s for a month when he is sent to rescue Ebisu from Yomi:
Tumblr media
Hiyori’s friends make her go to Capyper Land with them on one of the May weekends. Yukine has been in Takamagahara for a while, where the time flow is different from Earth’s, which is why he’s lost track of time for a bit and only realizes that summer is coming when he meets Hiyori:
Tumblr media
There’s unrest in the Heavens. A storm is also brewing on Earth, as noted by Mayu:
Tumblr media
2011 was an unlucky year for Japan. Typhoon Songda approached the country at the end of May. Here’s an extract from a real-life news article: “Disasters come treading on each other’s heels. Typhoon Songda, which has been raging near Japan, is approaching Fukushima-1 nuclear station. Bad weather might cause floods and landslides, which the experts fear might result in another radiation leak”.
During old moon Yato is still in Yomi with Ebisu. Storms are raging in Japan and in Takamagahara. A partial solar eclipse is approaching, which you’d think would bother the goddess of sun herself. In Japan it’s supposed to happen early in the morning on 1 June. But?.. Apparently off-screen, Amaterasu lifts her divine ass and goes searching for… the god of the moon, who went missing from the world of the living?
Amaterasu helps rescue the gods from Yomi. When Yato flies out of the vent straight into Hiyori’s arms, it’s already 15 June – there’s a full moon in the sky. According to the calendar, there was a full lunar eclipse that night. Yato is covered in dirt and blight:
Tumblr media
After meeting with the reincarnated Ebisu, Yato releases Hiiro:
Tumblr media
Judging by these frames, it was Hiiro who used to cut Yato’s hair. Sometime later it starts growing out, so Yato has to pull it into a ponytail since he doesn’t have his free hairdresser now. Though he will get one in Takemikazuchi several months later.
Yato misses Hiyori’s birthday on 28 June. However, he takes her to Capyper Land on one of the weekends. School holidays start on 20 July. Hiyori is seen wearing either dresses or sundresses. It’s also summer when Hiyori sees Yato’s memories and learns about the god’s greatest secret.
Hiyori starts going to school in chapter 48, so it’s September. The month does not begin well: Fujisaki asks the girl to leave Yato alone, and she challenges him. Right after that he uses the second brush from Yomi to summon ayakashi. Those cause chaos at the hospital that Hiyori blames herself for and starts turning into an ayakashi, going further away from the Near shore. It was also in the beginning of September 2011 that tropical storm Talas approached Japan, resulting in 59 casualties. The damage it caused is considered to be one of the biggest ones in the last 20 years. It’s no wonder Hiyori is blaming herself for the disasters; after all, as early as March, right after Yato’s battle with Bishamon and the unrest in Takamagahara and on Earth, Tenjin said to the girl that Yato did that because of her and nearly turned into an aramitama (raging spirit).
In chapter 53 Yukine is secretly reading Hiyori’s letters and says that they haven’t seen each other in two months:
Tumblr media
Which means it’s the beginning of November. Fate brings Yato to another Iki and returns him to Hiyori once more. Their ties are written straight with crooked lines.
Yato starts preparing for Kamuhakari and makes clothes for Yukine and himself. Kiun appears and demands that he attends the divine council itself as well. It means that apart from feasting on free food, which was Yato’s intention, he will also have to participate in boring god meetings.
Tama the cat, who also appears at Kamuhakari, ruins this whole line of calendar match-ups. She died in June 2015, not long before chapter 58 was released, and Adachitoka honored her this way.
Bishamon misses Kamuhakari because she goes looking for the burial hafuri. Kazuma comes to Iwami. Full moon is shining through the window, which means it’s 11 November:
Tumblr media
Hiyori goes back home from the festivities while Yato has to stay at the boring part of Kamuhakari. The girl notes that it’s been three days since she came back, and recalls that it’s been a year since she met Yato. It happens around 14-16 November. She also thinks that they should throw a party for Yukine, cause it’s almost a year since they found him (two weeks after she met Yato). Yukine’s birthday will be on 29 November. But a lot of events will happen in Takamagahara before that.
By the way, the time flow in Takamagahara is just as messed up as in Yomi. One day for Yato is the same as three days for Hiyori. The moon is old again. And the time in Takamagahara flows three times faster:
Tumblr media
There’s also a peculiarity to Yato’s clothes.
“Yato comes to Kamuhakari in white clothes. But then the battle with the Heavens begins. Yato loses his divine white sleeve in his fight with Takemikazuchi. Then only the white cape remains. Finally, he appears in front of Amaterasu dressed in black.
We don’t know how long the battle lasted, but the time in Takamagahara flows differently than on Earth. It’s possible that it’s been two weeks on Earth between the beginning of Kamuhakari and Amaterasu’s trial. Also, during the new moon (when the side of the Moon facing the Earth isn’t lit by the Sun) the sun and the moon go side by side; sometimes the moon overshadows the sun a little, partially or completely. Yes, I’m still hoping an eclipse happened during the trial. Compare this: when Bishamon was at the brink of falling into the state of aramitama, her blight was dark. But Yato’s is black, and the stains it left on Amaterasu’s clothes are black”. (Ivan)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the calendar? A partial solar eclipse happened on 25 November 2011. Japan was not supposed to see it. However, a black spot landed on Amaterasu and scared her.
“I think that’s the whole point, that the solar eclipse wasn’t seen in Japan. It could only be seen in Antarctica and partially in South Africa and New Zealand. So the picture in chapter 71 is correct. Amaterasu is showering every god and shinki present with her sunlight, then the eclipse starts. Yato, who is tired of the battle and tormented by his shinki’s sufferings, catches his “wave” and tries to make the eclipse happen in Japan as well (albeit figuratively – by striking down the sun goddess), but Take interrupts the moon god’s show of power. Amaterasu looks somewhat tired throughout the trial; maybe she isn’t feeling well, among other things?” (Yana)
The full moon in chapter 73 messes up all the calculations once again.
Tumblr media
See, there has already been a full moon not that long ago. Hiyori had spent a day at the Kamuhakari, then waited for Yato’s return for three days, and there’s only one week left till Yukine’s birthday. There can’t be a full moon twice in two weeks’ time. Perhaps Adachitoka started the chapter with Ebisu’s kidnapping as an extra first and then turned it into a full chapter; they added the mention of Yukine’s birthday but either left the moon the way it was drawn for the extra or simply forgot about it.
The next chapter messes up the dates again.
Tumblr media
27 November is on Monday in Hiyori’s diary and there’s a note “Fujisaki-senpai was absent again today”. The thing is, 27 November 2011 is Sunday. It was Monday in 2017, when the chapter was released. It was a hard year: one of the mangakas had to take a long sick leave, and the manga soon went on a 14 month long hiatus.
Sometime before the birthday the Heavens summon Yato and he’s questioned by the sacred treasures and then Amaterasu herself.
Tumblr media
Yato wakes up covered in blight after Yukine’s birthday. Take’s shinki conduct another misogi, and Yukine admits that Nora kissed him the day before.
Yato goes looking for a shinki that can help him take down Fujisaki. Amaterasu has set a deadline for him on Ooharai, the Great Purification ritual (30-31 December). There has to be a crescent moon in the beginning of December – a very slim one, shaped as a bow. Kazuma comes to Yato and becomes his shinki.
In chapter 79 the dates in Hiyori’s diary are correct: 28 November is Monday, 29 November – Tuesday.
Tumblr media
And it’s almost full moon in Chapter 81 when Yukine starts wondering about his past, with the crack on his name growing.
Tumblr media
Please focus your attention on the top frames with the moon. Keep your hands on the table and lift your eyes off the bottom frames.
The next full moon is on 10 December 2011, and it’s supposed to be a lunar eclipse, too. Unfortunately, since chapter 81 there hasn’t been any other chapter that had a full moon in it. However, we do have Hiyori’s words in chapter 85 about missing the chance to spend Christmas with her friends. It means that the events of the latest chapters take place between Christmas and New Year’s.
Tumblr media
Ooharai is near.

Reader’s Corner: Silver Spoon, Solo Leveling, and the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Solo Leveling, Vol. 1 (novel)
The immensely popular webtoon, Solo Leveling, features a basic premise about a young man rising from the lowest of ranks of “hunting” to become incredibly strong. It’s most appreciated for its art, so the question is, if the story is mundane, does it’s forerunner, which lacks any illustrations, hold up? It does—surprisingly well. Volume one of Chugong’s novel series, originally published on the web and now being released by Yen Press, traces the story of Level-E ranked hunter, Jin-Woo, in mesmerizing detail as he “levels up” following an experience that should have lead to his demise. That opening is only one of a number of violent but engaging episodes in the novel, which also relies heavily on descriptions of game-like mechanics. As the rare anime fan that isn’t a gamer, my eyes usually glaze over such details, but Chugong’s vivid but spare descriptions kept me engaged, as the protagonist moves quickly along his journey, which still, is well structured, even if his characterization if less developed. That’s both a flaw of the series and a point of question: Is Jin-woo’s desire for “Money, honor, and power” meant to be admired, glossed over, or criticized? I’m not yet sure, and I wonder if Jin-Woo’s moral development will become a significant part of the story beneath the well-crafted verneer of fighting and powering up, which as imaginative as it is, can’t very well carry an entire series—can it? ~ Twwk
Solo Leveling is published by Yen Press, which provided a review copy.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project, Vol. 18
I did it (insert GIF of everyone applauding Shinji here). I finally finished reading Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project. And let me tell you something about it: While there are science fiction undertones and references to the original series throughout that give you genuine laughs, by the end, the series is primarily just an ecchi teen romantic comedy with Evangelion characters as window dressing. Every chapter is an opportunity for Shinji to mistakenly trip, fall, and accidentally grope a girl. Every other chapter, by the end, sees a character with exposed breasts—sometimes because of said clusiness, sometimes because the mangaka just decides to draw an extended group bathing scene. This volume gives the final actual reference to an Evangelion, but once again, there’s no actual use of it. This alternate Eva-verse is, in the end, a school harem romance and not a science fiction epic that discusses about real issues like depression. For some, that’s fine. For others, the blatant fanservice will be too much. For me, I am still so very struck by how out of character both Shinji and Gendo act in this series when compared to the original . I guess Yui Ikari being alive really made a huge difference! ~ MDMRN
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project, Vol. 18 is published by Dark Horse Comics.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
First released in the U.S. eleven years ago, and originally published in 2004, Yen Press has rereleased The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (along with all the others) to coincide with the new Haruhi Suzumiya light novel. After all this time, it holds up surprisingly well, and in fact perhaps takes on more meaning now in the booming light novel industry as a series that—as with the anime—inspired so many of today’s writers. A quick read—it tells just one longer tale instead of several shorter one, coming in at under 200 pages—every sentence is meaningful, every chapter tightly structured, and every emotion hits with precision and sharpness as the series at once returns to an older act, takes the story to new places (and new heights), and brings in questions from the future as Kyon wakes to discover that the SOS Brigade has disbanded, no one has ever hear of a Haruhi Suzumiya, and Asahina and Nagato no longer have their peculiar powers. The volume works so well because it depends on those preceding it, not only for it’s “return to the past” plot but also as it ramps up the nostalgia and emotions in both Kyon and the reader. Everything is predicated on how the reader feels about these characters, leading to a tale that’s simultaneously a love fest for the series and one that is satisfying in its own right. Disappearance proves to be, much like its characters, a light novel that surely is timeless. ~ Twwk

The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt (Hey, How About Treason?), Vol. 1
What we have with this mouthful of a title is a more comedic (and non-isekai) take on the kingdom-running light novel. Prince Wein is appointed regent to run the country of Natra in place of his ailing father, but given how terrible the state of his nation is in financially, he would much rather just sell the country off and run away. Yeah, he’s lazy and a coward. The problem is, he’s also a bit too smart for his own good, and plans that he intend to go towards relieving his workload and avoiding confrontation only make people believe he can totally win wars and bring the country back to greatness. (It helps that the countries trying to deal with Natra have issues of their own…) The result is an amusing read as I had fun seeing Wein pull out plans that work a bit too well and have him suffering from success. I also liked how his relationship with Ninym, his childhood friend and primary aide, is framed in the story both as a teammate that Wein relies on to help run the country, and also a close companion (and love interest) whom he banters with but also trusts deeply and does not tolerate any insults toward her from others. Overall I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this series and how Wein will continue to help his country more than he might want to. ~ stardf29

Dragon Head
Dragon Head was a horror manga series I picked up last year from a Kodansha Halloween Humble Bundle. Let me tell you—it is dark, earning its way into that genre heading. The first volume begins with three teenagers trying to survive in an underground subway tunnel after an earthquake event caused its collapse. As the story progresses, and effects on the surface world around them are revealed, the characters discover that the earthquake was no isolated incident but something that struck all of Japan. It is gritty and violent at times. Yet, the overall story and a desire to see how these characters survive kept me reading page after page. I finished the entire 10 volume series in about three days time as I had a hard time putting it down. The ending is is a hard one, and perhaps very fitting for this work, leading readers to consider how widespread the problems that struck and set the events of the series really are. Psychological horror indeed. ~ MDMRN
Dragon Head is published by Kodansha.
Silver Spoon, Vol. 1
With Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood continuing its tear through our annual AniMarch Madness tournament, I turn my attention to the other now-classic work from mangaka Hiromu Arakawa. Silver Spoon, which ended its run in 2019, is a fish out of water tale featuring high school freshman Hachiken, an academic-focused city boy who decides to attend an agricultural high school in Hokkaido. Volume one has fun with his inability to get used to farm life, though it also sensitively looks at his reasons for choosing this high school while showing that even early on, Hachiken is growing, such as when he condescends horses only to be taught how the majestic animals can show the rider a different perspective on life. It doesn’t take long for readers to grow attached to the series characters, like Aikawa, who is the determined to overcome his sensitivity to blood and death to become a veterinarian, and Nishikawa, who loves tractors and mecha. But most of all, Hachiken makes for a compelling character. Like Edward from FMA, Hachiken is easily frustrated but kind and open; it’s lovely to see him already developing among friends so different from what he’s used to, even while seeing him frequently fall (and slowly get back up)—a source of laughter page after page in this wonderful introductory volume. ~ Twwk

Disclaimer: I do not give permission for anyone to take or post my story anywhere. Reblogging is perfectly fine, however.
Today is March 11, 2021. It is the 10-year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that decimated Fukushima prefecture and its surrounding areas in northeast Japan on the main island of Honshu.
I lived in a town called Shin-Kawasaki in Saiwai prefecture. It’s a place about 45 minutes by train south of Tokyo. I resided in an apartment building for students studying abroad through their universities. My room was on the fourth floor. It was my Japanese college’s spring break. I had just woken up around 3:00 p.m. after a short nap. I was at my computer turning it on.
Then it happened. I felt a small shake of the floor. Small quakes are a common occurrence in Japan, being a chain of islands where tectonic plates meet. But this shake didn’t stop. It quickly grew in its intensity. The building was wobbling like it was made of gelatin. My bookcase, which was nearly seven feet tall (roughly two meters), was rocking back and forth. I was terrified. I had never experienced an earthquake. At least, not one that registered with me as “this is an earthquake; not the train jostling or you moving around.”
I’m from the northern Midwest of America. Michigan, to be precise. We have tornadoes, lake-effect snow, flooding sometimes, and pothole-ridden roads. We don’t have earthquakes. I had no idea what to do in the situation I was in. I thought, “I need to get away from the bookcase, in case it falls over, and anything else that might fall on me.” So I ran to the entryway (called “genkan,” a slightly lowered area before stepping up to the rest of the room) of my small apartment. I cowered on the floor with my hands holding the doorframe on either side of me. I have no memory of how long I was there. It seemed like the shaking and wobbling was going on for much longer than the mere few minutes that had actually passed.
When I thought it had stopped, I tried my best to gather myself, grabbed my cell phone and wallet, and went into the hallway. Others on my floor had also gathered outside their rooms. We hurried down the grey cement stairs that spiraled up the exterior of the building and met the other residents in the small courtyard out front at the bottom. The power had gone out in the entire town. None of us knew what to do, so we waited until hunger drove us to the local convenience stores.
The stores were stripped bare of instant noodle cups, breads, snack foods, water, soft drinks, juices, and anything else that wasn’t pre-packaged or perishable. After traveling to all the Lawson’s and 7-11′s in the area, we resigned ourselves to buying whatever we could find. Our group made it back to the apartment building and hung out in the common room until, ten hours later, the power came back on. The event lasted less than a day and there wasn’t much physical damage in Shin-Kawasaki as the ripples from the epicenter of the earthquake hit the area at about magnitude 4.5.
There continued to be aftershocks for days afterwards. I kept a measuring cup of water on a shelf on my bookcase that I stared at constantly. Even the slightest hint of movement of the water and I ran to the door in anticipation of another aftershock. I couldn’t sleep and I became even more withdrawn as my depression and anxiety worsened-- things I already had problems with before studying abroad. I would watch the earthquake alert website at any opportunity. I kept my cell phone on me at all times, waiting to hear the earthquake alert that all Japanese cell phones have; a sound which brings back awful memories for me and I still hate to this day.
I didn’t really have anyone I considered a friend in the area. I didn’t have the money to go home for a visit. My dad refused to pay for a ticket when I called several times in the middle of the night sobbing, pleading, and begging to come home. My boyfriend was 14 hours behind and busy with his own college classes and part-time job. I was trapped. I began to self-medicate with alcohol. I had a falling-out with two friends; a situation that was exacerbated by my developing-alcoholism.
I had dreamed since I was 14-years-old of learning Japanese, studying abroad in Japan, and being a translator or interpreter. At 16, I taught myself hiragana, katakana, and some kanji. As a senior in high school, I took an evening class in Japanese. I listened to Japanese pop and rock music. I transliterated lyrics. I watched subtitled and non-subtitled anime. I read books and manga by Japanese authors. I went to college and majored in international studies and minored in Japanese to try to achieve my dream. I had finally found something that I was good at and loved doing. But in the last weeks of July 2011, before I left Japan forever, I gathered up all my Japanese learning books- textbooks, grammar books, dictionaries, kanji books- and threw them in the trash.
I lived through being forced to stay in Japan against my will. However, I did not come out a better person. I was a broken husk of a girl who didn’t have any direction anymore. The life as I knew it died on March 11, 2011 around 3:00 p.m., Japanese Standard Time. I died that day.
In the last five years or so I’ve been regaining the confidence and renewed interest in the things I used to love: anime, manga, J-pop and J-rock, speaking and writing and learning Japanese. But I’ll never get those years back. Those years of being debilitated by post-traumatic stress disorder and alcoholism. Those years that were robbed of me by the Fukushima earthquake.

We’ve been together for 7 years. I joined the band, we changed the name from Hitori-Atelier to Hitorie, and now we’re here 7 years later. The Beatles disbanded after 7 years. The band BOØWY, and Number Girl too disbanded after 7 years. 7 years ago, I was in Nagoya, wowaka was in Tokyo, and ygarshy called me directly to say 'I'm in this sorta band right now and we're looking for a guitarist, so you come and do it.' I replied ‘Okay, understood.’ and just like that I went up to Tokyo and into the studio. At the time I didn’t know Leader’s face, I only knew him from the Skype group chat, where he told me the type of songs he wanted to play and dumped the demo mp3 files in the chat, and when I listened to it electricity ran through my veins  sparks were flying, I thought about how it was so destined to cause a revolution, and that I was to be a member of that revolution… I was so so so excited. That excitement was already 7 years ago, and I’m, still excited to the bones right now. And my excitement, that electricity which ran through my veins that day, I’m going to share with everybody here right now."

Yu “Since today was supposed to be the finale, let’s look back on our tour” SND "Kyoto’s Takutaku venue!" Yu “Ah, so we’re doin’ this one show at a time? Okay!" SND “Taku t’was fuckin’ hot. Hell itself.” Yu “From then forward we learned, to prop fans on the stage.” “The reason my T-shirt is fluttering right now is because of Takutaku.” The reason we have cool heads, is because of Takutaku." SND "My first show with the role of singing the whole from start to finish....and it was in THAT. It was like playing inside of a sauna.” Yu “I also hadn’t played real shows much prior.. Though ygarshy is off doing, whatever he's doing but! SND and I were brooding ‘Were they always this painful, this sweat-inducing?!?” So later I asked yg and even he said *Yu imitating yg's monotone voice* ’…….It was painful.’"
Yu “Then we went to Okayama," SND “It was so coool!” Yu “That was what concerts are supposed to feel like! We were relieved.”
SND "Then we went to Morioka, to Sendai, to Kobe, to Hiroshima, to Sapporo…" Yumao “Woooo~sh, wooo~sh!” *Imitating their map path with his finger* "to Shizuoka…"
Yumao “In.. Sendai! Something funny happened…! May I interrupt with a bit of a newsflash?" Crowd “Wooo!" Yu "This guy (SND) was awesome during Talkie Dance today wasn't he? He pumped us up, he was like “Dance now!!!!” “Dance y'all!!!" *battle cries* Right, he was awesome! Throughout the tour we've been finding cool stuff to do and implementing it more and more. But during Sendai he did something unusual in this regard, I don't consciously hear what he says live because I’m always concentrating on my drums, but this irked me. So on the car ride home I listened to that day's concert recording and.. SND had only sorta questioned the crowd “Have you possibly.. not danced enough…? Maybe..?” wwww. The beat was hype but he was just acting dumbwitted like "I wonder..?" www..  I burst out laughing hysterically in the car!! Like HAAAHAAHA!” SND “'The fuck, he’s laughing all of a sudden and I’m the reason?!?' I said back then.."
SND "When we were in Nagoya, the stage was underground but, it vibrated like crazy...." Yu "We'll be back to shake that place up again!!!"
Then Niigata, Kagoshima...
Yu "We were in Kagoshima when the typhoon hit Japan, so we were laying low inside, plus an earthquake hit at the same time, which caused Kagoshima's volcano to go KABOOM on top of everything else. Earth was going crazy!!!! I asked the local people about it because it was crazy and they just said 'This is normal. Today's a little more than usual huh~ But don't worry~’.
Then Fukuoka, Ebisu, Takamatsu, Osaka,
Yumao "Then between Kagoshima and Fukuoka, we stayed at a vacation cottage out in Aso, and I got so drunk that I was farting around. I hung from the beams of the cottage and gave ygarsh a spook when he walked out of the bathroom.. He was roaring with laughter from that whole stunt! He didn’t stop laughing either, he laughed as he chased down SND with fireworks too, onward to when SND and I were watching TV together. yga was finicking around on his bass behind us, it was only natural to assume he wasn’t watching - yet he came out of nowhere to say "That was funny” ...When was he watching?" SND "He's an unreadable man."
Yumao "Then Shinoda became a rock musician also." SND "What? Me?" Yumao "Yeah yeah" SND "Wait, I was something else all this time? I was just talking about how we’ve been doing this for 7 years.. Was I mistaken?!" Yumao “Well, you’ve been polishing yourself up even more all these years… Shinoda is someone who never shows up to an appointment late, but he did just recently. And when he finally showed up, he was reeeeking of alcohol. At 12 in the afternoon nonetheless! So I asked him when he was drinking until, and he said “10 o’ clock AM. What a rock musician, right!!!" SND "Not a hangover or nothing, I was an old man hanging out drunk,  present tense.” Yu “Then in the back of the car, the other old man who doesn’t normally talk was there whispering 'This smell…. Day 13: On excitement
There have been many excitements in my lifetime. They range from (as one of my friends think of me) superficial things to perhaps philosophical ones. Here we go.
1. Entering the bookstore
While one of my earliest excitement going to the bookstore was in Gramedia Sudirman, Yogyakarta, there is no less joy when I have to spend money in a bookstore. I remembered my aunt bought me an illustrative book of volcanoes while my cousin got the earthquake one, and we ate Dunkin’ Donuts afterwards. There was also a new bookstore opening, called Social Agency Bookstore, when upon its opening, they have many discounts, particularly on manga. I prefer Gramedia to Gunung Agung, as I think the latter’s collection is less. But the favourite retail bookstore in Indonesia has to be Togamas. Not only does it give you discounts, they also provide free plastic cover for the books you’ve just bought. I developed admiration for mas mbak penyampul since they work so fast and neatly. I tried to cover my books several times but they don’t come as perfect as ones done by mas mbak Togamas.
During my undergrad, I might have not immersed myself with books. I can only remember reading Murakami’s Norwegian Woods and 1Q84 (which is arguably one of the best romantic novels ever). And, of course, Are You Smart Enough to Work at Google. These books might motivate me to read books again after high school, and sure, I tried several Goodreads Challenges every year.
In the UK, I have Waterstones just in the corner of my campus. It is a four-storey building. All floors are carpeted so you will hear people trying not to stomp and walk quietly. Books related to my field are located on the third floor, where there is no lift. But there is a small spot when you could read there and even work on assignments. It is a quiet corner where you can see people taking a smoke outside the Faculty of Engineering. There is also a cafe with delicious cinnamon rolls on the first floor.
Tumblr media
Second bookstore that captivates me is Cambridge University Press Bookshop. I was roaming on the streets when it started raining and accidentally I was just on the outside of this gem. The building is three-storey, and it is quite small for what is one of the prominent press bookshops in the world. It is also no wonder to not see a rack dedicated to urban planning, though surely it contains the geography section.
I was definitely left in awe when I visited Blackwell’s in Oxford. Another friend told me that I should go there since the collection is humongous. And when finally I went there, I thought it’s the biggest bookshop that I ever visited and it contains a specific floor for social science. The Oxford University Press Bookshop is even smaller than that of Cambridge, and I remember I was questioning how come this university does not have what I am looking for. Yet in Blackwell’s, even two bookshelves are dedicated to urban planning and Southeast Asia. I also found Pisani’s Indonesia Etc., along with workpieces of Sir Batty. I spent almost £120 along with a tote bag that shouts for “Yes, I’ve been to Oxford but no I’m not a student at Oxford Uni”. Maria and I spent a solid 2.5 hours wandering in silence looking for what we like; she even spent £200 on five books which cover all the possible materials for her dissertation. All hails Blackwell’s.
2. Going places with close friends
The memory started in 2014, when my undergrad friends went to my hometown and tried Dieng for the first time. It was in January, so we didn’t catch the sunrise at Sikunir. Though Wonosobo has a scenic view, it’s not much to do around here except eating and talking.
I also consider the trip going back to Bandung with Bohokism after failing to say goodbye to Mira before she embarked for Stuttgart back in 2017. We had a really deep conversation where I finally did acknowledge my darkest times. It was also a start of something great because thanks to them, I also got motivated to be where I am today.
In the UK, I’m blessed to be surrounded by kind people. The one of trip memories started with a Bristol-Bath trip during the reading week in the first term. I happened to get acquainted with Hana and Aska, with Maria and Gineng also joined in. I remember the Cornish pasty that was so good I brought one to go. We wandered around Bristol and noticed the unicorn lightning rod on top of a building, and bought some Indomie and eggs to eat at our oh-so-comfy AirBnB. Afterwards we strolled on the dock and enjoyed the night breeze. The following day we went to an all-you-can-eat restaurant that gives a student discount so we could eat only for £10. We also had a photo session down in Bath Spa, as Hana is good with her camera. I also remember the bus going back to London when we sat by ourselves and did some Netflix and reading (clearly not me).
Tumblr media
The next trip would be the Scotland trip. Some said that enjoying the highlands is better in winter (as in going to Morocco), and indeed it was true. We arrived in Edinburgh and climbed the hills and stopped by the Department of Theology of Edinburgh University and realised that every university in London doesn’t have a similar ambience. We also checked in to every Christmas market or Winter Wonderland in every city we’ve been to, as Marwa really loves mulled wine. Our mandatory photo was taken at a photobooth but we just didn’t print it.
Tumblr media
We then proceeded to Glasgow and headed to the highlands. Like whoa. I have been seeing the mountainous scenery as I always live in the highlands but that doesn’t compare to what Scotsman see everyday. I also lived my childhood dream as finally I saw the mighty Loch Ness. It’s a sad thing that I couldn’t go to Isle of Skye, but that's alright since I remember having a really deep talk with Agita, Marwa, and Punyu at a hostel near Dundee city square. I couldn’t find Indomie so I had to eat local instant noodles which tasted horrible. We basically just read the Book of Questions and yeah I think that is what is making us closer afterwards.
Tumblr media
There were a lot of trips in between, but I have to emphasise my Cornwall trip with Albert, Maria, and Hana in September 2019. We were dying to enjoy the beach in the southwestern part of England. We rented a car with no insurance, where only Hana and Maria were able to drive the car smoothly. We packed lots of snacks and cooked in our small but comfy AirBnB. We went to St. Ives and enjoyed the beach and the drizzle. And the famous fish and chips. I always asked to stop for a chocolate twist and Maria and Hana would just sighed. Albert is always that curious guy who would end up falling but he didn’t. We also hung out at a beach bar where it was a family night, where the three of us had cider or beer while I stuck on soda and lime. We cooked every time and had only all-you-can-eat when we stopped by Portsmouth on the way back to London. We realised that we were so lavish that during the 3 days trip we spent almost 200 quids each.
Tumblr media
In the end, I agree that it’s not about the destinations as they will be just them. It’s always about the journey, the talk, the snack, the “e e awas awas!”, the “pake duit lo dulu dong”, and the memories, particularly with these chaps.
3. Getting called upon the stage
One thing I just realised that I will have to lower my expectations if I want to get an award or something alike. I remember seeing my seniors getting called and put in front of all students and their parents during the national exam results in junior high. Ten students were called along with their parents. I thought, at that time, like whoa they are smart. In high schools, only the top three students from natural science and social science class got called to the stage. Along with opening the result of SNMPTN and Chevening. I was thinking that I’d just be having a real good time along with my friends during the graduation when suddenly I heard my test number getting declared. I remembered that I couldn’t believe that fact and saw Eriska just congratulate me. I thought I was done after delivering a speech as I was an ex-OSIS guy, but I have to say that that day was quite specially wrapped.
Another case is when I went to Shah Alam by myself, presenting the research findings back in November 2017. I was the only Indonesian presenter there. The faculty members of the university holding the conference said that they knew some of my lecturers. As the conference was about research methods, I wondered why several presenters didn’t emphasise the novelty of their methods. But among six key tracks of the conference, I was awarded The Best Paper in Urban Planning and Development track, where I also just couldn’t believe it yet I couldn’t contain my excitement of getting my work noticed. I remember Maria putting it simply “Gue tau lo pengen karya lo yang diliat orang, bukan nama lo. Like let your works speak for yourself”. And yes, she was obviously right.

Keep Beach City Weird! Outline & Review
The Keep Beach City Weird! book is a little paperback full of Ronaldo's revelations. It's about what you'd expect, with the nuggets of truth that we may not recognize as truth until after the fact!
Tumblr media
This volume is a keeper for any Steven Universe fan, but not much about it will be a surprise for anyone who's paid close attention to the show. It's fun, as usual, to watch Ronaldo loudly congratulate himself for uncovering THE TRUTH (you can "hear" his voice throughout, of course), and a bunch of the references are great fun to anyone who knows what he's referring to even if the context isn't spelled out.
Fans will also be treated to some new artwork! The picture of Ronaldo imagining himself in the hand of the Temple Fusion's animated form as a trusted sidekick is particularly interesting.
Tumblr media
And since Ronaldo is one of those broken clocks that's right twice a day, fans who know his schtick can't help but wonder what conveniently hidden bits are actually Ronaldo straight-up telling us the future.
The book opens with an intro from Ronaldo Fryman, who declares himself as the weirdest thing in Beach City. (The Gems are a close second, he says.) He shares his frustration over not having been able to sell his book to mainstream publishers (which has led him to self-publish it), and warns you that ads for the family fry shop will be interspersed with the content because his dad helped fund it.
Tumblr media
He then goes right into a "Monsters" section (decorated with art of him in his horror movie outfit and Peedee in a version of the Snerson costume).
Tumblr media
The list includes Centipeetle, a Giant Bird, the Worm Monster, the Puffer Fish, "Giant Women from the Sea," the Watermelon Stevens, the Fusion Experiments, the Great North monsters, and the Crab Monster.
Most of these are not creatures he should have seen, and he shouldn't have pictures, but whatever, I digress. Ronaldo theorizes that the Centipeetles could be humans bitten by a radioactive centipede or centipedes bitten by a radioactive human. He discusses the story of William Dewey being saved by a giant woman whose image bears a resemblance to the Crystal Gems' temple, and then concludes, "Probably no connection." He mentions having seen Sugilite wreck the beach gym.
He brings up reports of the horrible Fusion Experiments and concludes they are zombies. He suggests the Great North monsters are a function of global warming and praises his own bravery in filming the Crab Monster for a documentary. And he also brings up his debunked "Sneeple" theory, which has been swapped for the Rock People theory. Those dang Rock People who want to kidnap Earth and bring it to the Mud Galaxy.
Tumblr media
Ronaldo then goes into weirdness from space, detailing the Red Eye ("Vampire Spaceship"), the Rock People Space Program (based on Pearl's failed ship from "Space Race") the Plug Robonoids (which he thinks are an attempt to play space pinball), the Hand Ship (which he knew exactly what that was), the shirt that hit him in the head from "Shirt Club," and crop circles (like in "Joy Ride").
And then Ronaldo covers "Local Weirdness," starting with a double page about the Crystal Gems and then moving on to outline the Cat Fingers incident (with speculation on what causes "Cat Finger Fever"), the Frybo incident (was it all Ronaldo's fault for exploring tuber-based witchcraft?), the Oldest Man in the World incident (from "So Many Birthdays"), Lion sightings, Lars's fire breath, Guacola, and . . . Onion.
Tumblr media
Next, Ronaldo gives you a tour of all the Weird Places, beginning with Funland Arcade (with a handy guide of moves you can use if you play "Teens of Rage"!), and taking you around to Race Mountain, the Abandoned Warehouse, Brooding Hill (with an included guide of things to brood about), the many-holed cliff (which he calls a Gnome City), and the Lighthouse.
And then, the "Times It Got Really Weird" section details the flowers from Rose's moss in "Lars and the Cool Kids" (did you know they were produced by cloud seeding?), the mountain of duplicated G.U.Y.S. from "Onion Trade," the disappearing ocean from "Mirror Gem" and "Ocean Gem," the blackout incident from "Political Power," Peridot's interrupting broadcast, the Great Diamond Authority, and Cluster Quakes.
And he closes everything with a "Weirdilogue" and encourages you to keep your own town weird.
Tumblr media
Some gems:
"Like most bad stories, this one started at a farmer's market."
"I guess that's the danger of genetically engineered food: It might punch you in the face."
"Beach Citywalk Fries. We promise to NEVER bring out that Frybo costume again."
"What's scarier than a beach ball? Well, I guess a lot of things. . . ."
Ronaldo discussing an experience that was either food poisoning or accidentally eating deep-fried wood.
The Zombie Apocalypse Flow Chart which always leads to "Lock myself in lighthouse and prepare to watch the world I know crumble before me."
Ronaldo pointing out that the shirt that hit him in the head from an extraterrestrial source should be a size extra large next time, not youth medium.
"They have a cool home base in an ancient magical temple. My base is a lighthouse that I'm not legally allowed to occupy."
After an entire paragraph outlining how gross Guacola is, Ronaldo heartily encourages you to pick up a can of it while visiting Beach City.
"[M]y favorite – Teens of Rage. Probably because I am a teen who is full of rage at a world that doesn't know how to pronounce 'manga.'"
"Race Mountain, AKA the Devil's Backbone, AKA the Devil's Laundry Chute, AKA the Devil's Poorly Planned Highway, AKA Old Man Carwreck's Road, AKA Municipal Maintenance Route 64!!!!"
"I took a picture of it, which Lars really did not want published. Check it out."
Ronaldo speculates that maybe the moon has its own moon.
And here are the things I found notable for fans!
1. The book is dedicated "For Jane, My Ohimesama." I sure hope they're on speaking terms again after what happened in "Restaurant Wars."
2. Ronaldo gives the Crystal Gems his own names, referring to them as Square Head, Princess Nose, and Purple Girl.
Tumblr media
3. When covering the fire breath incident from "Joking Victim," Ronaldo refers to Lars as "Local sarcasm dispenser Lars Barriga." This was the first place where Lars's last name was dropped.
4. The page about Onion's weirdness details an interaction that did not happen in the show but explains one that did: The ketchup packets that he famously ran over with his scooter in "Onion Trade" were begged from Ronaldo one day. Onion offered a photo of Ronaldo in third grade in exchange. (???)
5. Funland was apparently established over a century ago under the name Frederick Ulysses Neptune's Land of Mechanical Oddities and Entertainment. The entry also mentions that it contained a future-telling robot, a reference to "Future Boy Zoltron."
6. An apparent contradiction: Ronaldo, while discussing the video game Teens of Rage, identifies with the game because he is a teen who has rage. This would make him at the oldest nineteen if he is a teen. But in the section on the Lighthouse, he refers to the Beach City Explorer Club he had in his childhood with Lars, and claims that "fifteen years later" they had an incident there with the Lighthouse Gem. If it was fifteen years later but he's no older than nineteen, that happened when he was four, and that's impossible; he was far older than four in the flashback scene with Lars.
7. In a note to cover his butt from the Labor Department, Ronaldo suggests his brother is just a really short eighteen-year-old to distract from the fact that the family business is most likely exploiting him in child labor.
8. In his bit about "Teens of Rage," Ronaldo tells you about special moves for his favorite character, Gary Sunglasses. I think this is a contradiction to the episode "Arcade Mania" because while Steven is trying to teach Garnet how to play the game, he narrates that he thinks she's "a Joe Rock kinda gal," and the same character is pictured on the choosing screen.
Tumblr media
9. Ronaldo refers to Stevonnie as "the mysterious Racer S." while discussing the greatest race he ever saw at Race Mountain. Not sure where he got "S." from, especially since he appears to have been in attendance at Stevonnie's first appearance at the rave in "Alone Together" and presumably witnessed their unfusion.
10. Other wrestlers besides those shown in the wrestling episodes are introduced in a promo flyer. We now have After School Champion Assistant Principal Gene McCormick, Culinary Tag Team Champions Baste Face and the Iron Saucier, Women's Caped Crusader Champion Tina "Ten Fingers" Gonzales, X-Treme League Champion Presented by Guacola The Ocean Town Kid, Interdimensional Champion of the Multiverse Glossy Wayne, and Old Timey Senior League Tag Team Champions Sarsparilla Frank and the Colonial Terror.
11. When talking about how to brood properly, Ronaldo refers to his hair as his "frylocks." Ha.
Tumblr media
12. The lighthouse was apparently constructed two hundred years ago to keep people away from Beach City, not to help the ships be guided in. This might be one of the true things in the book. Who knows?
13. In "explaining" Peridot's broadcast that happened during "Cry For Help," Ronaldo comments that Peridot called herself Peridot, but that it is actually pronounced "Peridot." (It isn't discussed exactly what he means here, but he's surely making reference to the fact that the more common pronunciation of "peridot" does not have the T pronounced, even though the show uses the version where the T IS pronounced.)
14. Ronaldo, while explaining the Great Diamond Authority to us, assigns the Diamonds' underlings into a strict hierarchical society made up of the classes Chalk, Slate & Granite, Rock Candy, and Clods.
Tumblr media
15. Ronaldo terms the earthquakes from the beginning of Season 3 to be "Cluster Quakes" because they came in clusters. Fans will know that they actually did come from a giant mutant Gem Fusion buried in the Earth which is called the Cluster.
The book has some new art that isn't just screencaps from the show, and it's a fun ride. I recommend it, and it's cheap!

THE WORLD'S MOST UNIQUE COUNTRY: JAPAN
For today, I am going to give some tips about Japan. I am one of those who loves watching anime and reading manga and I have 12 reasons to present why Japan is unique to the other country. But first I just want to say something why I choose this country. First, I badly want to  go that place because that was my second list of my bucket note. Second, they have clean and beautiful places I mean something that only Japan can offer it but not the other country. Third, I love their foods especially ramen and their amazing plating of the food and its flavor of very unique and different from anything that you have tasted before ad it has a strong aroma and with just one bowl you can surely sure to satisfy and finish it uncosciously with one sip.
Japan known worldwide for its unique tradition and culture including tea ceremony, flower arranging, calligraphy and etc. Japan is a home and the birthplace of sushi, one of the famous food in Japan, also they acknowledge as the  ost technologically advanced country in the world despite of being ruin in the world war ll. Japan history has existed for a few years ago and until now it became very much alive , even seeing a convienience stores it become more modernization and technological adavances too. Japan have been know for their arts, crafts, and architecture too. Also they known worldwide of being pop culture (Manga, anime, video games) it is the Japan that can only offer it.
FIRST, THERE ARE MORE HARD WORKERS THAN ANYWHERE ELSE
The word karoshi is often used to describe their attitude towards work which means death by overwork. it is normal to see the japanese work for far longer than what officially expected from them at work so much, so that taking a nap in the office or in the streets its is regular occurrence and one of the this is culturally accepted. so if you ever see a japanese who sleeps streets I am sure that they are overwork on their jobs.
SECOND, CHILDREN CLEAN THEIR SCHOOLS BY THEMSELVES
The students themselves take out the trash. they seep, swap and wipe down the school, and it is premises for about 30 minutes in the day. that's why the school don't hire janitors or custodians because this are there habit that deeply ingrained in their values system as you will often see strorefront owners sweeping the area as the streets and sidewalks outside their stores as well in fact Japanese historically been known to obsessed with keeping their surroundings clean.
THIRD, SILENT KARAOKE
this is a special microphone called utatet voice training silent karaoke mic, it helps you to improve your ability and exercise your body. its like a cone that you place over your mouth and also it was designed for the people who don't want  to wake up their neighbors and those who feel shy about building their favorite tunes in public. also it ses for stree reliever according to the maker " PROIDEA" it can also lose weight and improve to your health. the utaet  means "song diet"
FOURTH, EARTHQUAKES AND NATURAL DISASTER
Japan is considered the top 10 worst natural disaster of the 21st century era because Japan is mainly due  to it being the pacific ring of fire. it reports more of earthquakes than any other country in the world. it can experience dozens of small earthquakes each month than larger earthquakes which cause infranstructural damage or tsunami are much more but it devastating even more when they do happen.
FIFTH, GESHA
Gesha is traditional entertainment which is performing traditional Japanese art forms such as traditional dance and singing but they believe the first geisha were male. and they characterized  by their distinct appearance of long kimono and traditional hairstyle and their oshiroi makeup diari. some people thought geisha are prostitute but they  are not. according of two japanese words "gei" means arts and "sha" meaning for to be imployed in.
SIXTH, DOLL VILLAGE
Japan is also known creating a realistic dolls. the village called of nagoro used to have a population of 300 people but about 40 resident live here now. The local artist Mrs. ayano made over 300 life-sized dolls which look former residents all around nagoro she has staged a dose made of wood and wireframes stuffed with newspaper and dressed in old clothes donated from across Japan also nagoro considered to be the creepy places because of the realistic dolls
SEVENTH, BLUE TRAFFIC LIGHTS
A hundred of years ago the Japanese included word of only four basic colors this are black, white, red, and blue. if you wanted to describe something green you would use the word color blue, so to make things rights government decided to use the bluest shade of gree for that. and when in terms of train station blue station has only one purpose of that, it means to warning and stop you from jumping in front of the incoming trains.
EIGHT, ROBOT-RUN HOTEL
The henna na hotel are the world's hotel staffed by robots which open near nagasaki and has a unique features and services. the human-like robots meet their guest clean the room and make a coffee. the robots can speak english, chinese, and korean for overseas guest. see! the Japan now is very incredible  when it comes technology, at last they can invented robots now, that's why I want to experience for real.
NINTH,  HIGH LIFE EXPECTANCY
A study published in the spring in the year of 2016 that diet was a major factor behind the country's high life expectancy figures and another factor might be the lifestyle that Japan all the population enjoy. The retirees people in Japan can still continue to stay active and many older people can continue working by choice rather than economically necessity. The study conclusion, their findings suggest that eating balanced consumption of energy rice, grains, fruits, meat ,fish, and soy product can contribute to longevity by decreasing the risk of death and japanese are added eating some combination of high quality foods, and low saturated fats was very important too.
 TENTH, TIPPING IN JAPAN
In america  or the other country, many of the guides are accustomed to receiving some tips but in any situation situation in Japan like cans, restaurants care by giving you some tip to them is actually a little bit insulting and there culture is one of the firmly rooted dignity, respect and hardworking. The japanese mindset is "why you give some tips if you covered  the price given at you so why pay more?"
ELEVENTH, ANIME AND MANGA
The first written manga in 1950's was called " Astro Boy." After many years laters anime and manga slowly growing to become one of the country's most iconic export also they has a strong influence when it comes all over the world especially in China and South korea. Japanese animation was became the global phenomenon and almost the visitor in japan are the lovers of anime and manga.
TWELVETH, JAPANESE FOOD
Aside from the beautiful places and artistry in Japan. the food in that place are very famous for its wonderful and unique cuisine that's why many of them love it,not just their amazing plating but the unique flavor that only Japan has such as edame (soybeans) sushi, and miso, ths are one of the adventurous foodie might need coaxing  to try.
THIRTEENTH, TEA CEREMONY
In 1000 years ago tea ceremony was introduced over centuries, Japanese tea ceremony became unique and distinct art and involving the ceremonial and preparation and presentation of matcha, a powdered like green tea and this art called "TEMAE" it represent of respect, harmony, and tranquility which means to embrace the order to achieve the main tea ceremony.
This are 13 unique reasons why Japan better than other country and I hope that this helped you to learn a bit more about Japan. and if you have a chance to go , come and visit there, its more fun in there. it will change your perspective about japan its including the amazing places, the foods, the culture, and beliefs, and also lifestyle of them. you will amaze in people in there and the cleanliness place they had and if you want a quiet place this will suit place to go. Let's go! come one and enjoy about Japan.

Top 13 Best Pokémon ROM Hacks
Pokémon games stand out as being one of the largest and most well-known fandom franchises.
It provides endless characters, possibilities, storylines, and games!
So, what is a Pokémon ROM Hack?
ROM hacks are video games that have been modified by fans to create an entirely new looking and improved version of a game. No need to confuse yourself between Pokémon ROM hacks and Pokémon GBA ROM hacks, they are all the same.
Grab your Pokeballs and your trainer hat! We have compiled a list for you of the best Pokémon ROM Hacks of all time!
The 13 Best Pokémon ROM Hacks of all time
1. Pokémon Mega Power
The game is a ROM hack of Emerald but features many distinct sprites and a brand-new story. In Mega Power, the character is on a quest to make the strongest Pokémon. To achieve this, your character has performed a lot of experiments.
Unfortunately, you are running out of funds. Not to worry! A mysterious financier comes to your rescue.
You go on an adventure, but suddenly you get an epiphany. Is your financier out for your quest for knowledge? Perhaps his money will be used to manipulate your strongest Pokémon creation?
The gameplay in Mega Power is remarkably like the original. Pokémon Mega Power does contain three new areas or Regions such as Ivara, Lander, and the Sevii Islands.
There are several Generation IV, V, VI, and VII Pokémon included in the game. It also boasts of having all the Mega Evolutions available in the game.
2. Pokémon Light Platinum
This one is a hack of Pokémon Ruby with edited graphics. In Light Platinum, you get to explore the Zhery Region while meeting and battling new rivals. Players can pit their skills against the region's awesome Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and the Champion. You can capture and train Pokémon from the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh Regions.
Be sure not to forget about the moves and items you can collect when you play this game. There are some special events that you can participate in the game as well as the Pokémon World Championship. Think of the Pokémon World Championship as the endgame content after you have dominated the Elite Four.
You can get an excellent twenty-plus hour playing Pokémon Light Platinum. That is some decent gameplay!
3. Pokémon Flora Sky
Pokémon Flora Sky is Pokémon Emerald, but with everything that you wish the original had!
There are more mountains, forests, caves, and a bunch more Pokémon in the game. There are 368 Pokémon to catch, each with animated sprites, new moves, new items, and a brand-new story.
This game is may is not perfect, but it grabbed some big-name attention. There are several things Game Freak and Nintendo have taken from this ROM hack for their next games in the series. This includes a progression system that does not require grinding.
To complete the story and progress through the areas appropriately, this hack makes you go on the form of a treasure hunt. It makes you see every nook and cranny of their upgraded Hoenn.
Every Pokémon is catchable, and some of the games' original encounter rates are reversed: It is easier to catch a Rotom in this game, but a fair bit harder to catch a Ralts.
A brighter color pallet and an easier story to follow as you play your ROM hacks place Pokémon Flora Sky on our list.
4. Pokémon Blazed Glazed
Pokémon Blazed Glazed is another hack of Emerald. This ROM hack is an improvement over the older version, which was Pokémon Glazed. The story is the same where your character has reached the age of maturity. You are given a Pokémon of your choice, and you start on your quest.
Unfortunately, the world is in chaos at that point, and you end up behaving to be the savior of both the real and Pokémon world.
There is also a Pikachu that is stalking you for revenge, but you can deal with that in the game. Considering that Blazed Glazed is an improvement or an update, the main features of Glazed is are there. These include choosing 5 Starters, different Regions to explore, as well as Dream World Pokémon.
There are quite a few new additions as well! There are added Pokémon from Generation IV to VI, new moves added from the different games, and different Pokémon added in different locations in the game. Some may spawn in the same location, and some added to the space.
There have also been some Pokémon moves that have been updated. This means that they do not learn their default moves in this hack. Quite a few worthwhile additions!
5. Pokémon Glazed
So, you may have noticed we already listed the game Pokémon Blazed Glazed. This next one, Pokémon Glazed, is the base of that game. While Blazed Glazed is somewhat of an improvement of this one, it is undeniable that Pokémon Glazed is still a fantastic ROM game.
You get the typical story of a boy coming into age and becoming a full-fledged Pokémon trainer. Unfortunately, the world seems to be ending, so you get to take part in saving it.
When it comes to the gameplay, you get to choose from five different starters. You can explore three Regions, such as Tunod, Johto, and Rankor. You also get to have Dream World Pokémon and a plethora of Legendaries to catch in the game.
Having the chance to battle trainers and Gym Leaders again is also a welcome feature so that you get more experience and money in the long run. Definitely a ROM game worth checking out.
6. Pokémon Theta Emerald EX
By now, we are coming to realize that Emerald is a popular game of choice for hacks!
Pokémon Theta Emerald EX is an updated version of Pokémon Theta Emerald. The story is somewhat the same, which is good, basic, and standard for any ROM hack available out there. This ROM hack does improve a lot of the aspects from the earlier versions.
There are over 700 Pokémon in this game compared to the 600 plus Pokémon in the past version. This also includes more abilities, TMs, HMs, and Mega Evolutions as well as Primal Revision. They also added the Fairy-type in the game and a new Repel mechanic.
There is also an added feature that is quite cool. You can run inside the buildings! This is a remarkably simple yet super useful feature.
7. Pokémon Mega Emerald X and Y Edition
This version of the game is finally complete. Pokémon Mega Emerald X and Y Edition is a hack of Pokémon Emerald but with fundamental elements from Pokémon X and Y. The story itself is a bit mundane, but it is the typical Pokémon adventure game that has its twists and turns. Most of the games and graphics are relatively the same.
The game still appears the same as Emerald, but the new Pokémon have their sprites edited for the game!
The game prides itself on having Pokémon from Generation I to VI, but not all of them. However, all the Legendary Pokémon from all those Generations are available in the game. You just need to trek through the different regions and areas to find and catch them.
Don't forget about the Mega Evolutions and Primal Pokémon available in the game. If you are looking to spend a bunch of hours into a variation of Emerald, then this is the one to go for!
8. Pokémon Liquid Crystal
If you felt a bit traumatized from Pokémon Dark Rising, then Pokémon Liquid Crystal will help to soothe your wounds.
It is bright, colorful, and you can play through this game at a very leisurely pace while progressing. To do so, however, would be to miss the point of this game completely.
This game allows you to revisit the Kanto and Johto regions as well as the orange islands. The game truly has an adventurer feel to it.
It will appear to be a duplicate of Gen 2 with Gen 3 graphics. However, this game serves as an apology to all the older fans, who could not keep their Pokémon as the games progressed from Gameboy Advance to Nintendo DS. That is a nice touch!
9. Pokémon Gaia
Pokémon Gaia is a ROM hack that used Fire Red as the base. The game contains somewhat of an intricate story. In the past, the old civilization worshiped gods, but earthquakes consumed the upper areas. Thousands of years later, you are now a rising Pokémon trainer being asked by Professor Redwood to help prevent another calamity of earthquakes, which will sink the Region of Orbetus.
The Pokémon come from the Regions of Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos. The moves and other aspects are inspired and utilized by Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Many different mechanics are used, such as the Mega Evolutions, Fairy-type, and underwater locations, to name a few.
You can also find several Hidden Grottoes and Secret Temples and use TMs repeatedly.
Gaia could pass off as a spin-off game if you truly put the work into it!
10. Pokémon Ultra Shiny Gold Sigma
Pokémon Ultra Shiny Gold Sigma is another ROM hack of Fire Red. Despite it being a hack of Fire Red, the elements and story are based on the classic Gold, Silver, and other aspects from Crystal. The story follows those games from Generation II, but there are some added plot points and other elements to the story.
You also have a Pokémon roster with over 800 of them from Generation I to VII!
The game has other features such as Mega Evolutions and the Miracle Exchange. A cool feature to mention is it removes the trading evolution. You can evolve a Pokémon normally without the act of trading them. EVs and IVs are also shown on the menu so that you can avoid complicated calculations.
Be sure to remember the day and night cycle, as well as having a dawn and afternoon time!
Are you looking to spend long hours catching a whole bunch of Pokémon? This is the game for you.
11. Pokémon Adventures Red Chapter
Red Chapter is part of the official Pokémon Adventure Collections. This ROM hack emerged third place three consecutive times in the Poke Community Hack of the Year contest from 2013 to 2015. It is also a hack of Pokémon Fire Red.
This follows the story of the Pokémon Adventure Manga. The game follows the Manga closely, containing most of the events. However, some events were changed to make them longer.
Since the game follows the manga closely, you do not get to choose your own starter Pokémon.
Good news, though! You will be able to get that later in the game.
This ROM hack features some cool things, including all Pokémon, are catchable, root fossil replacing old amber in the pewter museum, and blue and green making more appearance in the game. Additionally, maps were changed to reflect on Manga's appearance.
The graphics and display are updated compared to Fire Red, with customizable characters and levels up to 255.
The game also involves a day and night cycle, as other Pokémon games do. Try this game today when you are a big fan of the Pokémon Adventures manga.
12. Pokémon Dark Cry
Pokémon Dark Cry has a reasonably intricate story. You wake up and realize that you are lying in a cavern, and everything was highly contrasting. You see two individuals, remaining by a dim special raised area, discussing a “Shadow Plate.” You go after your Pokémon, yet they are not there. At that point, you see a man with “R” on his shirt. You attempt to stop him, yet he strolls directly past you.
This man plays out an unusual custom. Afterward, there is a gigantic quake, and a goliath shadow approaches you. You wake up and acknowledge that this was just a dream. You take a gander at the clock and acknowledge you are late for getting your Pokémon. Later you come to understand that your dream is becoming a reality. Creepy right?
The Pokémon Dark Cry features; new region, TrionPokePaper, daily news source, side quests, and mini-games automatic trainer, level cap increase, and many more.
This Gameboy advanced hack of the Pokémon Fire Red, according to users, is said to possess near-perfect gameplay. It also contains good mapping and amazing scripting.
13. Pokémon Ash Gray
This one is a hack of Fire Red, and the story follows the very first season of the Pokémon anime. You control Ash Ketchum, and if you are a big fan of the series, you will notice that the opening pretty much mirrors episode 1. Ash wakes up late and fails to get his Pokémon and ends up having Pikachu.
Embark on a quest to follow the story as it unfolds. As a bonus, they even added parts of some of the movies into the game.
You can get all the Pokémon that Ash got during his run in the series. However, you are not restricted in using those Pokémon. It is still a ROM hack, which means that you can get some Pokémon that you would want. You do get some Pokémon when the plot progresses, but you do not have to use them.
Considering this is based on the series, the Pokémon you can get is limited to the series. This means no features such as Mega Evolution and other Pokémon that have not appeared in the series.
This makes the gameplay more of a standard Pokémon game. They also removed the HM's. That means you can use items to do HM moves.
If you are a big fan of the anime, then this hack is exactly right for you.
