HELLOOO I saw your requests were open so can i request thoma and zhongli (seperate) accidently catching their very shy s/o play a song on a piano dedicated to them? Thank you and have a nice day or nighttttt
hi hi! so sorry it's taken me so long to answer this! 🥺 i'm a terrible blog owner! 😭 but this is such a unique idea that i've thought about it so many times over the past few months. 😩 i wrote thoma's part a few weeks ago and finally got struck by the inspiration to write zhongli's part tonight. i hope you like it.
i love piano btw! it's my favorite instrument! do you play? i tried teaching myself several years ago. i didn't stick with it but it gave me a whole new appreciation for those who are disciplined enough to play this elegant instrument. 🖤
♬♪ THOMA —
he’s been looking forward to seeing you all day and a small smile adorns his face knowing he’s mere moments from hugging and kissing you.
thoma hears the beautiful melody before he even opens the door, and his smile grows wider.
easing his way in quietly, he stays out of sight for the time being so as not to distract you. besides, the tune you’re playing is so lovely that he wants to hear it to the end.
he’s probably heard you play over a hundred times, but he doesn’t recognize this song. it’s got to be one of the prettiest melodies he’s ever heard, a little slow and so graceful it nearly moves him to tears.
when you finish, you’re startled by his clapping. you whip around on the wooden bench, looking at him with wide eyes and a nervous smile on your face. “you- you heard that?”
he nods. “sure did,” he says, walking to you and bending down to leave a sweet kiss on your parted lips. “that has to be the prettiest song i’ve ever heard, but i don’t think i’ve heard you play that one before. when did you learn it?”
“well, i-” you start, watching as thoma props an elbow on top of the piano and rests his chin on his palm expectantly. “actually, i’ve been working on it for some time now. i was hoping to surprise you with it once it’s done, but…” you look down at your hands.
"once it's done?" your boyfriend furrows his brow. “you mean…you wrote this?” he asks, eyeing the sheet music.
you nod. “it’s not finished just yet, but…you like it?”
“i love it! of all the songs i’ve heard you play, i think it’s my favorite!”
a shy, proud smile warms your face. "i- i wrote it for you, thoma,” you confess, glancing up to meet his kind face.
thoma’s smile drops and his soft green eyes widen and shimmer with unshed tears. “f- for me?” his voice barely registers above a whisper. “will you play it again? from the beginning?”
your smile grows. “of course.”
thoma folds his arms on top of the piano, propping his chin on his forearm and watching you like a love struck puppy while you play the most beautiful song, just for him.
♬♪ ZHONGLI —
the funeral parlor had closed not half an hour ago when you sit down at the baby grand in the main hall. hu tao joins you, always eager to hear the way you play so beautifully.
zhongli, who has heard you play so many times that he’s grown quite accustomed to it, repeats your takeout orders back to you and the director to ensure their accuracy before making his way out of the doors.
upon watching him exit, his amber-tipped rat tail fluttering behind him, you turn to hu tao and smile.
“well? let’s hear it!” she urges, clapping excitedly.
for the past few weeks, you’ve been composing a song for your beloved husband and hu tao has been your sole test audience. you’ve relied mostly upon your own musical training and expertise, but you've also sought the funeral director’s opinion, given that she arguably knows him and his tastes better than anyone else.
you chuckle and begin to play a slow, melodic tune that makes hu tao swoon. her hands go to cover her mouth and you swear you see a tear in her eye when the parlor door suddenly opens. the music stops cold as your eyes grow wide at the sight of your beloved. why is he back so soon?
“ah,” he starts tentatively, “i seem to have forgotten my wallet…”
he slowly makes his way to the open body of the piano, growing genuinely concerned about the way you look like you’ve seen a ghost. “my dear, why did you stop? i could hear the spellbinding tune you were playing even from outside - several steps away from the doors…it was at once riveting and heartbreaking...”
your mouth opens, but before you can speak hu tao chimes in, rather loudly. “mr. zhongli! it’s a song y/n wrote for you!”
as zhongli’s bright eyes widen, all the heat in your body rises to your face, leaving your fingers feeling suddenly cold and unable to move. you'd still been in the process of putting on the finishing touches, wanting to ensure nothing short of perfection before debuting it to your dear lover and muse.
as the surprise leaves his face, his features soften as a small, perfect smile graces his flawless face. your mouth has gone dry. you’re hardly able to swallow as he speechlessly circles behind you, so moved and overtaken, honored that you’ve put the time and effort into composing such a lovely work of art just for him…
“it’s the most exquisite thing i’ve ever heard” he says as he sits down beside you on the ebony bench. “will you teach me to play it?”

1, 8, 11, 18, and 24 :)
thank you :)
the last sentence you wrote
from the olympics au:
Carlos Reyes, son of Andrea and Gabriel, and arguably, the Reyes he’s spent the most time looking at.
8. if you had to write a sequel to a fic, you’d write one for…
for the longest time it was the you saw the truth in me verse and i did write that, but i've also toyed around with writing a sequel to made up of a thousand scars, something that checks in with them a few years later to see where they are in their lives, how tk's navigated his recovery, etc. this feels a little more like an au to me with very loose ties to canon so i'd love to explore things like what tk ends up doing for work and what his life looks like, years out of rehab
11. a WIP you’d like to finish someday
this feels a little like cheating because it isn't posted but i think my exes to lovers fic. it's basically shelved at this point until i can kind of figure out where i want to go with it but it's such a special fic and i really want to eventually finish it and post it
18. if you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic
i have an entire document of deleted scenes from you saw the truth in me, i'll post one at the end!
24. how do you recharge when you’re not feeling creative?
answered here!
deleted scene under the cut - one of the things i worried about with this fic was it sounding too soapbox-y. that was always going to happen, but i felt like this scene was too on the nose and i couldn't figure out how to fix it, so it got cut
“It makes sense,” Carlos says. “I can’t even imagine what that must be like. To have people talking about you all the time and not being able to control what they’re saying or defend yourself. It sounds exhausting.”
“You know,” TK says faintly. “You’re the first person to tell me that.”
“What, that it’s exhausting?”
“Yeah.” TK shrugs again, chuckling humorlessly. “Most people just think it’s part of the job, something I have to just deal with, and they’re right, but…” He shakes his head. “Everything gets loud sometimes, you know? And I couldn’t say anything because I’d get called ungrateful. I was so lucky to be where I was that I wasn’t allowed to be anything but happy about it.”
Carlos thinks back to all of the headlines he’s read, all the anonymous sources about how insufferable and spoiled TK is, how far up his own ass he lives, how he’s so out of touch with reality he doesn’t even care what people say about him anymore. This doesn’t sound like someone who is any of those things. This doesn’t sound like someone who has completely checked out.
“And I get it,” TK is saying. “Probably sounds fucked up to hear me complain about my tiring filming schedule when a single mom is working two jobs to feed her kids. I get why people didn’t want to hear it. My life is so hard, I have to wear nice clothes and walk red carpets and spend my time filming movies that are guaranteed to rake in millions. But it’s like- it got to be too much. I didn’t know what to do. I tried so hard.”
“I don’t think it’s a contest,” Carlos says carefully. “Everyone has their hard days, right? When the world’s too much and you don’t know where to turn. Everyone has them. You’re not a bad person for it. The single mom who works two jobs is in a situation she shouldn’t have to be in, but that wouldn’t change for her if you just didn’t talk about what you were dealing with. That wouldn’t help her.”
When TK looks back at him, his eyes are a little glassy. “Yeah. Just wish the rest of the world thought that.”

Hello! I've recently just found your blog and it's been such a ballast in the storm of this past week. Thank you for that 💜
I need to dump these thoughts somewhere because I basically don’t have anyone I can talk to about this in my Army group. I should disclaim that… I have tried over the years to NOT believe in Taekook, but the past two years has actually made it incredibly hard 😂 And the Dream premiere was when I was like, whoa, okay, maybe this IS something.
So the last week (and actually ever since Gurumi dropped) has been an emotional rollercoaster. I have no idea what to believe, I have to keep checking my biases, I keep thinking, “am I just unwilling to believe this because it’s not what I personally want to see?” And I’ve often returned to “Well, maybe the simplest explanation here is the truest one, and T/J really are dating.”
Except… there is literally nothing about T/J that makes sense. My easiest explanation for everything that went down in Paris is that they’ve been casual on/off for the past year, and neither are just willing to comment or commit. But that doesn’t explain the circumstances around the paps, the way the footage was dropped, the discrepancy with the light/time, the fact that there just happened to be a person walking around in Paris with Tae’s magazine cover… like, SO MUCH.
So here’s where I’m sitting: maybe the easiest explanation IS the truest one, and what have we seen in the past year? We’ve seen several undoubtable instances of Tae and JK being together outside of work, intentionally spending time together, making their affection for each other known. And if we’re looking at long-term protection here, if you ARE Hybe and you know these boys have something special between them and they have to release music and enlist in the next year… wouldn’t it make sense to do what you need to do to protect them?
The gaps for me are these: would Tae actually be willing to do this? Why would Jennie agree to this, even if it DOES lift her profile? Arguably, she doesn’t need any more exposure, she’s one of the most followed Kpop idols around. And where is Jungkook’s place in all of this? What is his role? And at the end of the day, isn’t this all too much trouble for something that can be easily hidden as “two bros just being bros”? (Although arguably a lot of the things they’ve done in the past six months ALONE has really toed the line with this one.)
Anyway. I’m sort of in between with all this, and I’m sorry for the messy ask. But thank you for giving us all a space to process this. 💜💜💜
Hi anon!
I'm so glad you find my blog helpfull and I'm a bit sad you aren't able to voice your thoughts in your Army group. You are very welcome here.
Things are confusing right now, no matter which way you look at it... there's always more questions than answers. Their intention isn't to be clear right now, whether it be pr or real... they want to stay in this state of vagueness. So that's what we have to make due with.
I have actually also explored the idea of them being very casual and not serious. But I find if that were the case they would meet up in hotels and not go for a walk joined by security and managers.
Yes, that's where I'm at as well. A recent anon mentioned the possibility of Tae's music referencing his own life. I can very much imagine him singing about a relationship where you have to hide and that comes with struggles and distance... suits both situations perfectly.
The gaps for me are these: would Tae actually be willing to do this?
If it makes him feel more safe, and confident about releasing his music. Than yes, I think he would. By association it would also work as sort of protection for Jk... so I strongly feel this could be the case. He would certainly not be the first.
Why would Jennie agree to this, even if it DOES lift her profile? Arguably, she doesn’t need any more exposure, she’s one of the most followed Kpop idols around.
While Jennie is huge, she is trying to break into new territory; the film industry. That comes with a whole new audience, so something big will certainly help her. The Idol has not been without critisism, so it would aid the series as well. Just look at all the articles about Tae and Jennie from last week... I've not read all, but most mentioned her series. It's great promo.
And where is Jungkook’s place in all of this? What is his role?
He doesn't perse need to have a role in this. I think he'll be lingering along the sidelines, being able to spend time with Tae without too much speculation.
And at the end of the day, isn’t this all too much trouble for something that can be easily hidden as “two bros just being bros”? (Although arguably a lot of the things they’ve done in the past six months ALONE has really toed the line with this one.)
Ah, but how much trouble is it really? You will find (if things go the way they have been going) that the actual trouble of cooperating isn't all that much. From what we've seen now, they met up for pictures a few times, they met for a walk once, they wear the same jewelry... that's literally it. Fandom and media take care of the rest. It's really not that much work for a few years of coverage.
Not a messy ask at all. And you are very welcome for the space.

*walks on tiredly, salutes, offers you tea, downs my own coffee like a shot, leaves a note without elaborating* Ello there, how do you do today? Hope you're doing well and happy new years!
So, regarding Lustrous Reader, a fic is in the works? It's just a little thing for context, and to give a little look at how Citrine/Lucky is doing (aka the branching to scenarios 1,2,3,4 and 5, also know as Neutral Ending, Bad Ending, I Can Make it Worse, Bittersweet Ending and By Ordona's Teats Turn it Back This is a Majora Level Scenario Ending), I'll link it here once it's done, mind you that it's likely not very good? I'm not too used to writing 2nd person plus have had a long past few days. Will likely work on the Fairy Tale compilation next. Thank you for listening to me ramble and inspiring me and for all your works in the fandom!
The sleep scenarios with Time, Twilight and Sky my beloveds- Look, those three basically worked together to hook me in on the fandom and Zelda in general, Twilight was the hook, Sky was the bait and Time was the fishermen whom once he pulled me in with his games I had zero inclinations to leave (Legend was the one with the fishing net btw, as if that was even necessary, man really had to hammer it in huh?), Me and that man may as well be childhood friends with how much I played his games when I was younger during good and bad times and still do nowadays when I can (because his and Legend's were the most easily accessible at the time), So anything with them makes me very soft and makes me smile a lot, it was incredibly fluffy and well written so really, thank you for your work portraying arguably my three favorite boys! Was an excellent pick me up, had a bad Christmas (a bad December in general, really) so having reading it with tea was really nice.
Warriors' soulmate au had me outright cackling my dog probably really does think I've lost it now, it's the perfect mix between sweet and hilarious, specially with the fake out and the highly longing thoughts and the Chain now knowing way too much and being generally scarred by it, it's just fantastic and I adore it to death (also Wild is me, I too would absolutely take pictures and videos for future blackmail material). And the one with bunny Legend gave me very warm and soft feelings which is amazing, I have a soft spot for him because, as mentioned before, Time wouldn't allow me to leave and Legend just made sure I wouldn't be able to anyway with his games so once again, thank you! You're doing divine work here and I hope you're having a nice day!
Now I'll be off, kind of have a headache, Happy New Year's!
-Just an Anon on A Stroll.
Gasp- I have tea now... Thank you, friend.
Don't hurt my baby Lucky!!! DX
"I can make it worse" Don't you dare!!!!! Give me my happy ending darn it!... And also the link when you're done, please. I'd love to read it.
I'm sorry you had a bad December, these last two days have been a bit of a doozy for me too. So I feel for you.
I'm glad you enjoyed Warrior's and Legend's prompts XD
I enjoyed writing them a lot. And given that it's been a bit heavy on your favorite boys, I'm happy to have done them justice! They're pretty high on my list too. <3
Take care of yourself, Anon! I'll see you when you loop around from your stroll once more. :D
And prepare some snacks for your visit in advance. <3

Tagged by @hirazuki -- thanks buddy!
1.Three ships?
Two off the bat are Wangxian from MDZS and Hualian from TGCF, the third would be Zelink from the LoZ franchise.
2. First ever ship?
Zelink was baby Carl's first ship
3. Last song?
In the Backroom by Syudou I will die on the hill that it's the best song used for the endings in the csm anime
4. Last movie?
Sonic the Hedgehog on Netflix, I really am not up to date on movies much anymore
5. Currently reading?
Well I literally just finished the second book in the Burning Kingdoms series, The Oleander Sword, by Tasha Suri. Now I'm currently on re:Zero volume 20.
6. Currently watching?
I've been rewatching Naruto. So much Naruto. Way too much Naruto tbh in less than six months I've plowed through the first part and most of shippuden (on episode 367 meow.) Although it helps that I'm skipping episodes that only contain filler content.
Started the new Trigun reboot and I really enjoy the use of CGI in it so far, tbh it's way better than I had anticipated and arguably, I think it looks better than the current Berserk reboot. However the pacing in the new Trigun feels, a little whack at times.
I'm also slowing watching The Untamed, as I can't get enough of Wei Ying and the actor playing him does such a wonderful job (same with Lan Zhan's actor)
7. Currently consuming?
Water
8. Currently craving?
The motivation to repot my one plant that is in desperate need of being removed from the terra cotta one I got it in before it dries out entirely because I can't be bothered to ever to remember to water it regularly.

15 Questions 15 Mutuals
Rules: answer the questions and tag fifteen mutuals.
1. Are you named after anyone?
A soap opera character, Days of Our Lives iirc
2. When was the last time you cried?
Last night because I was laughing so hard at my cat being stupid about something (this is a regular occurrence with her)
3. Do you have kids?
I mean, if you count the kind that walk on all fours and bark or meow at you? Then two.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I've never used sarcasm once in my life, ever.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Their body language and how they carry themselves
6. What’s your eye colour?
Atm, a like blue-y green-y grey-y mess, with a hint of orange. Usually just depends on the lighting but I've never had a consistent results
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
Horror movies
8. Any special talents?
Stupid luck. I don't win contests, or prizes, but I have the best luck when it comes to procrastinating something and still getting it done with the results I needed just in the nick of time. Getting my driver's license is a good example as it was only a week out from expiring after my booked drive test. Which I booked during covid, and when everyone was struggling to get booked within a reasonable amount of time, but I managed to luck out with the one time slot left available in my city.
9. Where were you born?
Canada
10. What are your hobbies?
Writing, reading, annoying my cat
11. Have you any pets?
We established earlier that these are my children, one cat and one dog
12. What sports do you play/have played?
I used to be pretty good at volleyball, but I was short and could barely spike the ball past the net, so I didn't make the team after the first year.
13. How tall are you?
About 5'4''
14. Favourite subject in school?
Writer's craft. It was the creative writing course offered at my school, but I mainly liked it because I had spare before it so I would always go home and get stoned before coming back to write lol
15. Dream job?
Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be an author. It's something I still kinda struggle with due to something stupid that was said to me when I was 12, but I'm overcoming that.
I tag whomstever wants to do this! Because I don't have enough mutuals for it

I'm gonna complain here for a hot minute as a treat because I almost never do. And I'm not putting it under a read more because I think a lot of people need to see this.
I've been seeing the phrase "better sensitive than whatever the hell humanity was on back in the day" slung around as of recent. While I agree that a lot of stuff has change for the better, there's such a thing as overdoing it.
We've so gone far past tiptoeing into the overly sensitive territory and have started dancing around in it with this fucked up idea of a utopia glorified by ipad babies validating the words of delusional 20 year olds who think they're the main character. We're not leaving room for humans to be human anymore.
It's in human nature to make mistakes, or to have personality, or to have opinions. But so help you make one mistake, or have an opinion that's not harming anyone but the vast majority don't agree with. So help you if you have a few personality traits that may be seen as inherently bad, or have a unique way of doing things. How dare you day such heinous things ten years ago that was acceptable then but isn't now and you most likely don't agree with, IF you can even remember saying it. How dare you not be perfect.
I do think that a lot of this idea was popularized by online culture and a younger generation because genuinely, and the lockdown circa 2018-2021 (or somewhere in that range) certainly didnt help. But do you remember how things work outside? You can't just block someone who gives you trouble or makes you uncomfortable. At least not without causing a scene and looking like you belong in a ward. I genuinely think that there are some things about life that we learned is okay online that we need to unlearn because it's creating even more of a divide between humanity. Eventually we're gonna have the chronically online vs the real people bs.
Not just that but it's SO risky to center your job around being online, or to be an artist online, because "sensitive" people will so quickly find negative things to latch onto and swarm it like a pack of starving piranhas. If you do one thing wrong you can have your job IMMEDIATELY taken from you. You make it virtually impossible for a person to live. I'm sorry but that's messed up and goes against what you're trying to preach. That's not a better tomorrow, that's a fishbowl that people with the same ideals are crowding into and booting anyone who steps out of line.
All this to say while think it's good we learned from the past don't fucking shunt people who have differing opinions or also made mistakes that are arguably more tame. It's not your job to police other people. Quit being a creep and playing social justice warrior. Genuinely one of the best things to do is be the bigger person and walk away. Really weigh the problem at hand because chances are you're blowing it out of proportion.
Go outside and talk to someone, but if they mention how much they like pranking (and I mean the actual good kind not the "going around and antagonizing people with a mic" brand) for the love of God don't say "but that's mean and you should feel bad" SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!! SHUT UP OR I WILL PRANK YOU WITH MALICIOUS INTENT YOU UPTIGHT TWAT! Learn to be FUN!
Don't ruin things for others because your perception of X thing is that X thing is hurtful or bad when it's really not, and you're just too sensitive. If you don't like it that's fine don't be a Debby downer. Don't put them on blast and ruin their lives because of it either.
And if this post makes you mad and you feel the need to say something about it? This post was brought to you by viewers like you. Thank you.

Dec. 19th, 2023 - 180th Anniversary of A Christmas Carol
Turns out today, Dec. 19th, 2023, is the 180th anniversary of the publication of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, arguably one of the most important works of English-language fiction.  Thanks to writer Neil Gaiman who pointed this out on social media, and who is currently doing his bit where he dresses up and reads the book, cover to cover, to a live audience.
I'd love to see someone film that sometime.  The only audio book I've ever listened to was performed by Patrick Stewart, and, pals, I cannot recommend it enough.  I also recommend the film version he did.
And that's really the thing.  Most of us come to A Christmas Carol through a movie or TV special, cartoon adaptation, puppet show or what-have-you.  And that's actually great.  I know mine was the Disney version with Scrooge McDuck and Mickey in key roles.  But I also grew up in the wake of the George C. Scott version.  And hit Scrooged at a key point in my teen-hood where it really landed, and not just because Karen Allen.*
I think I finally read the book in 8th or 9th grade.  What I really remember is that I was supposed to read bits at a time, and I did not.  It's short - Neil Gaiman can read it all in one shot, and Patrick Stewart's Audible version is like an hour and forty-five minutes - a fraction of your average Marvel film.
And, you know what?  The book is great.  I re-read it every decade or so.
I don't need to explain it to you, which is a nice time-saver in writing about the thing.  You know there's a first ghost who warns about the other three.  You know there's some light time-travel and walking around as a phantom.  There's love lost and bitter childhood memories.  And there's social commentary aplenty, which has remained relevant year-over-year for the past 180 years.
In many ways, recognizing the echoes of the pre-reformed Ebenezer Scrooge's dialog is a shockingly easy way to spot a terrible human.  And yet, no matter how many times people see the movies or read passages or see plays, and, or. etc...  here we are.
And so, the book remains endlessly relevant.
Movies may change things up - cosmetic bits like changing the look of a ghost.  Or minimizing or eliminating bits.  And the book's core remains intact.  Because it's a fantasy that those with no motivation to change their ways will somehow, through the hand of God where their own conscience failed them, be moved by humanity to be human, and not just an engine for generating wealth.  At the end of the day, how you'll be thought of in this life will be multiplied the moment you pass.
Here's to another 180 years more.
*but also not not because of Karen Allen

Shayyy I’m teared up at the drabble Brooklyn told the Mins that she is pregnant. You wrote it so well I literally feels the hurt from Brooklyn and the disappointment from Yoongi.
If it’s possible, and only if you want to, can you do a drabble of Mama Min tries to talk to Yoongi about Brooklyn and how he comes around?
Thank you Shay! You are so talented ❤️
An anon also said: Thank u soo much for drabble day 😊💙
Could you write about after when Yoongi comes around and talk and the accepts after Brooklyn tells him she’s pregnant ?
I'm going to combine these two lol
"You're an asshole, you know that Min Yoongi?" You said as you walked into your shared bedroom at your and Yoongi's house. It was later that night after Brooklyn announced that she was pregnant and you hadn't spoken to Yoongi ever since he stormed out of Kinsley's studio.
"I'm an asshole for not being happy that my 18 year old granddaughter is pregnant by a kid who's not going to have time for her?" Yoongi shot back without even looking up from his book and you stormed over to the bed, plucking the book out of of his hands and throwing it onto the floor. "What the fuck Min?!"
"I understand that you're upset but pull your head out of your ass and realize that this isn't about you!" You shouted. "Our granddaughter is terrified and she's trying to take responsibility for the decisions that she made but it's hard to do that when you don't have the support of the people that you love."
"She should've thought about how terrified she would be before she did it," Yoongi replied.
"She's a kid!" You laughed in disbelief. "Kids do things without fully thinking them through and believe it or not, even some adults do too."
"Exactly, she's a fucking kid!" Yoongi exclaimed and just as you went to yell at him, you noticed his eyes shining with tears. "She's a kid Min."
"Yoongi," you sighed, getting onto the bed and pulling Yoongi into a hug.
"I just know how hard it's going to be and I just hate that for her," Yoongi sniffled. "I wanted more for her."
"I know baby and she'll have more," you told him. "She's just gonna have to take some different routes to get there. You need to talk to her."
"I don't know if I can," he muttered and you pulled back from the hug to look at him.
"Yoongi, she thinks you hate her," you revealed and Yoongi's eyes widened.
"What?" He whispered.
"Our baby is already terrified Yoongi," you told him. "Don't make her think that her Papa, one of her favorite people in the entire world, hates her too."
.................................
"You wanted to see me Papa?" Brooklyn said as she stepped into Yoongi's studio and he nodded, motioning for her to sit down on the couch and she did so.
"I wanted to talk to you and most of all, I wanted to apologize for the other day," he said. "I don't hate you Brookie."
"I sure couldn't tell," she muttered and Yoongi sighed heavily.
"Look, I'm just not exactly happy about this pregnancy ok?"
"I wasn't either Papa," Brooklyn shrugged. "I literally cried for a week straight after I found out and I didn't know what I was going to do. However, I decided to raise this baby and I would like your support."
"Brooklyn," Yoongi sighed, getting up from his chair and walking over to the couch to sit down next to her. "You're an amazing person. You're so smart, so empathetic, and arguably one of the best ears for music I've seen in years. You have so much potential and having a baby at any age can deter that, but especially at only 18. You could soar baby, and I just hate to see you making it harder for yourself."
"I understand that Papa, really I do," she said. "But I made the decision to give that piece of myself to Dae and this is what happens. Him and I both have accepted that. Plus, just because I'm gonna have a baby doesn't mean that I'm not gonna soar still. I'm lowkey kind of offended that you think so. The only difference now is that I'm gonna have a baby along for the ride with me, that's all."
"I know baby but I just hate to see any of my girls struggling, that's it," he admitted.
"It's gonna be hard I know, but as long as I have Dae and Mama and Daddy and you and Gigi and Grandpa and Grandma, I'll be fine," Brooklyn smiled. "So trust me."
"I will Brookie, I will," he promised. "Come here." He opened his arms and Brooklyn didn't hesitate to hug him tightly. "I love you so much sweetheart."
"I love you too Papa," Brooklyn whispered, pressing a kiss to Yoongi's cheek.

new tu and xiyao fan from earlier. i searched ao3 as per your suggestion and there's only 500 or so fics for them. :( however, i do have a legit question - what are the differences between mdzs and tu (i've never read the latter). and if you want expand on nieyao (or xiyao) please feel free! i love reading meta! one of the few reasons i miss old school fandom spaces lol. thank you!! :D
Hmmm, I see about eight hundred if I limit to English? But I take your point! But that was just as a way to start; once you do find an author you like, you can look at their bookmarks, for example. (Also I'm not sure if you're familiar with the AO3, but if not, sorting by kudos when doing a general search is a way to get stuff that at least lots of people thought was good. I'm not saying it's perfect, but when you're starting in a fandom it can be better than the default by-date-updated.)
Also I'll take the opportunity to plug my absolute favourite xiyao author, roquen. I didn't mention them last time because they haven't I believe written a post-canon fixit, and you should know that they're mostly sticking to MDZS instead of CQL canon, although with some sprinkling of CQL elements and characterization. Some particular favourites of mine include their AtLA AU and their Sunshot/on the run fics (both series with a couple of short fics), their what you might call a mid-temple hopeful fix-it (divergence where LWJ strikes to kill and LXC takes the blow), the baby LXC fic ("Lan Xichen reverts to being a fifteen-year-old junior, and immediately gets an epic crush on Lianfang-zun"; disclaimer that I was fairly involved with the creation of this one but it's GREAT) and, of course, above all, their gigantic canon fix-it verse, it's worth it every time. It's SO GOOD and the characterization is fantastic and the prose is excellent and UGH. It's so good!!!!! Disclaimer that the second fic in the series, which is the main work, is still WIP, but roquen updates regularly and there are only a couple of chapters left; if you're still wary of WIPs, I'd at least recommend the first fic, which stands alone and is brilliant in its own right.
As to the differences between MDZS and CQL…ho boy. There are quite a few, both major and minor, and I'm by no means familar with all of them—especially the ones that don't involve 3zun, lol. I tried to google around but unfortunately the ones I found tended to be either short or, if more in-depth, contain inaccuracies about JGY/LXC—I think people tend to be more interested in the Wangxian, and then this stuff goes by the wayside. The wiki can be a good source for differences for specific incidents, and although I think it's not always accurate it /does/ usually cite chapter or episode, which can be pretty helpful.
This, by hualiann, looks like a good overview, though I'd add that JYL, WQ and WN didn't study at Cloud Recesses in the novel and that more generally MDZS has a lot of actual undead.
In general my advice is to take things people say about the novel with a large grain of salt, myself included. And about CQL, too! I have no idea if this is you but when I joined the fandom, if people asserted stuff about CQL I tended to just kind of take it as fact—oh, I thought, I must have misremembered! My memory is pretty terrible, and honestly there was absolutely stuff I did misremember. But also sometimes other people misremember, or fanon gets taken as canon, and then there's stuff like—I mean, I'm certainly not going to blame people for not realizing that "JGY conspired with XY at the Unclean Realm" is a lot more uncertain than you might guess at first, especially if they're more Wangxian focused which most people in the fandom are, but I'm still not going to present it as straight-up fact. (veliseraptor has a recent post examining this here which I would very much recommend).
Honestly I think I'd recommend reading the MDZS NMJ Empathy flashback—chapters 48, 49, and the beginning of 50. That gets you a lot of the JGY, LXC and NMJ backstory, and then you can compare for yourself! I'm also going to recommend Mercy's thread, here, listing common fanons about MDZS (I will add to the list, since it's a bugbear of mine, the idea that LXC recognized NMJ's fierce corpse by his abs).
Okay with all that out of the way, and in no particular order, Sun's extremely idiosyncratic and particularly- aka mostly JGY-focused differences list:
-In MDZS, LXC doesn't become Sect Leader until the burning of Cloud Recesses by the Wen, when his father is injured and then succumbs to his wounds. In CQL, he's Sect Leader from the beginning of the show, his father having apparently died not too long before the show started.
-In MDZS, MY wasn't working for the Nie at all before the beginning of Sunshot; he joined the Nie forces just after Sunshot began. NMJ didn't instantly promote him to be his deputy when he's telling at the Nie men for bad-mouthing him; it takes a few more encounters and/or battles with the Wen (after which MY clears the battlefield and helps the commoners).
-In MDZS, xiyao's first meeting happens when LXC is on the run with the Lan books after the burning of Cloud Recesses. We don't see it happen on the page, and we don't know any details of that time beyond, like, MY helped LXC.
-NMJ willingly sends MY away from the Nie, with a letter of recommendation for JGS, after, uh, an extended overhearing of a conversation between MY and LXC wherein MY's desire to be recognized by his father and gain a proper place in the Jin, the opportunity offered for that by JGS recruiting talent at Langya, and the possible difficulty of obtaining permission from NMJ are all established.
-NMJ sees MY stabbing a /Jin/ captain, at Langya, after he goes looking for MY. Rather than taking a blow for NMJ, MY stabs himself, faking suicide, then immobilizes NMJ (who's trying to save his life) and flees. This is because NMJ wants MY to go turn himself in for killing the captain; MY thinks they'll kill him, while NMJ says that if the captain has actually been mistreating MY as MY said, MY won't be killed. Personally I think that all the evidence suggests that MY is right, and NMJ is blind to the effects of his position to the extent it's a not insignificant moral failure.
-Okay, so, you know how in CQL MY stabs WRH while he's distracted with WWX, outside on the steps with the Sunshot alliance right outside? In /MDZS/, they're in the Sun Palace, WWX isn't anywhere near the place, he does it to save NMJ's life, and then he starts lugging NMJ's unconscious body out of the palace. And then NMJ comes to consciousness amd demands his sabre and tries to kill him. He likely only survives because of NMJ's wounds, and if LXC hadn't shown up (responding to a message MY sent for aid for NMJ) NMJ might easily have killed him. If you want a more in-depth analysis, I take a close look here in my response to someone's, er, imaginative interpretation of NMJ and JGY's relationship in MDZS.
-In CQL, NMJ's qi deviation happens at the stairs incident. In MDZS, it happens later, when he overhears JGY being upset to LXC about how NMJ treated him at the stairs, and, overcome with rage that JGY would dare (arguably in combination with being polite and pleasant to NMJ's face, although the last time he was confrontational to NMJ's face NMJ kicked him down the stairs and tried to kill him so), he kicks open the door and tries to kill him. He also kills several people as he's qi deviating (seeing them as JGY—while in CQL he also sees several JGYs they seem to be just illusions), and injures NHS.
-In MDZS, NMJ sets fire to all of NHS' nice things. I don't think we're told either way in CQL, although it's worth noting that in MDZS this happens after the stairs (and before JGY starts playing for him again). (I think they do something in FJ?? But I don't take FJ as canon for CQL; see confusion-and-more's post here).
-In CQL, JGY suggests to NMJ that he's always played the corrupted Clarity for him (though granted this is in Empathy, so it's hard to say for sure if this is what he actually said, but in any case it's the only version we're given). In MDZS, it's strongly indicated that JGY only started playing Turmoil for NMJ /after/ the stairs—there's a variety of evidence, but I think the most objective is that WWX, who in MDZS Empathy can literally feel NMJ's anger, actually observes it working beforehand:
Since [JGY started playing for NMJ], Jin GuangYao would travel from Lanling to Qinghe every few days, playing Sound of Lucidity to help quell Nie MingJue rage. He tried his hardest, without speaking even a single word of complaint. Sound of Lucidity was indeed effective. Wei WuXian could clearly feel that the hostile energy within Nie MingJue was being suppressed.
(Exiled Rebels translation, ch. 49)
And then the next scene is the stairs incident, so.
-In general, the degree to which JGY's position is completely awful is played down in CQL. confusion-and-more talks about it a bit here; I'd also note that some of JGY's dialogue defending himself is removed ( “Some trivial achievements?” He spoke in a shaking voice, “…What do you mean, some trivial achievements? ChiFeng-Zun, do you know how much work I put into such trivial achievements? How much I suffered? Glory? Without the handful of glory I have nothing!”, for example), we don't hear about his mother at the guqin scene, the temple flashback where his mother is dragged naked outside by a client and he's kicked down the brothel stairs is eliminated, etc etc.
-There is absolutely no second flutist in MDZS; also JGY tells us in the temple that QS was already pregnant before he found out about the incest. I think even in CQL it's questionable whether he actually intended to kill Zixuan (see this whole conversation), and significant unveiling or no CQL never actually says QS wasn't pregnant before their marriage so I tend to go with that too, but certainly it's easy to walk away with the impression that he definitely did both deliberately, especially if you aren't familiar with the novel.
-(In general, I think CQL JGY is a lot more sympathetic than most people think once you look closely, but he's also very much set up to look upon a more casual watching as Villain, so.)
-In CQL it's All A-Yao All The Time but in MDZS we see LXC calling him san-di after the sworn brotherhood, and then it's back to A-Yao in the present day (see my last addition on this chain here).
-In MDZS, JGY doesn't shove JL out of the way of the incoming attack.
-The LXC lifting JGY out of his bow thing is from CQL
-The watchtowers! Oh /man/ the watchtowers. God the watchtowers are so much. Uh, confusion-and-more has a post about how much they're mentioned in MDZS vs CQL here, and see my last addition to this thread for an argument that the watchtowers were indeed a force for good. God. Twelve hundred watchtowers. He must have saved so many lives...
-confusion-and-more's watchtower post also reminds me that CQL has the Guanyin temple giving out medicine, while MDZS does not
-The episode 23 scene where Sect Leaders Jin, Nie, and Lan agree to spare some of the Wen doesn't exist in MDZS (though I'll take the opportunity to observe that I disagree with popular interpretations of that scene, see point three here).
-In MDZS NMJ's fierce corpse is literally trying to kill JGY, there's no saber spirit. And like, it's been trying to kill JGY for a long damn time, that's why JGY dismembered him.
-The XY plotline—in MDZS, JGY recommends a young XY (who at thay point has a reputation but is not known to have committed any massacres) as a Jin cultivator, as part of an effort by JGS to recreate the Yin Tiger Seal. JGS has multiple people trying, but most of them aren't getting anywhere and XY is getting furthest. It's during this time that XY kills the Chang clan, and is discovered as guilty by XXC, who brings up the evidence at a conference happening in Lanling; the Jin are stalling, MMJ gets angry and shows up, he almost kills XY on the spot and gives JGS a lecture such that he's forced to relent and sentence XY to death (and incidentally scares JGY, imho quite seriously, while he's at it). Then JGS turns it into life imprisonment once NMJ has left, and then NMJ is extremely angry and attacks JGY at the stairs. (Ch. 30 and 118)
-I mentioned before but I'll add it here too: in CQL JGY asks LXC to stay and die with him, and LXC agrees.
-The CQL ending in general is...hmmm. Despite having most of the elements which complicate MDZS' ending (JL is in a terrible position!), it kind of presents as...happy ending all is fixed now? In MDZS I think it's presented as—more complicated, even though Wangxian do very much get their happy ending.
-Also LWJ is a lot less. uh. Okay, so in CQL he's more Mr Morality, and in MDZS it's much more Wei Ying Right Or Wrong. Also, he doesn't become Chief Cultivator in MDZS! I think that's my least favourite change, because it's like...LWJ hates politics, hates compromise, and never attends the cultivation conferences. At least one of 'this is going to be a major diisaster' and 'LWJ is going to have to go through some significant shifts in his worldview and approach' are going to have to happen, but that's not the vibe CQL gives off at all, and I think it really works against some of the major themes of the text :/
-OH RIGHT I knew I was forgetting something—in MDZS MXY's revenge is focused solely on the Mo; JGY is not part of the curse.
Okay I don't want to go too much on about xiyao or nieyao, because this is already quite long and I don't want you to be waiting forever, but broadly although I certainly think NMJ cares about JGY a great deal it seems to be about his competence and potential; he doesn't really seem to, like, actually like who he is as a person. JGY, meanwhile, is at first very grateful to and then increasingly exasperated by and very much fucking terrified of NMJ, but...well, he doesn't seem to be into him or interested in spending time with him for the sake of it or etc etc.
On the other hand—xiyao. Man, xiyao!!!! They just—they get each other so fast, they're /partners/, they work together so well, they like and they respect each other, they're both like—LXC and MS are on their own tier for JGY, LWJ and JGY are on their own tier for LXC, they're for each other in a way neither is for anyone else, they care a lot about the same things—it's not perfect overlap, obviously, but it's more overlap I think than either has with anyone else, they—invest, they're builders, JGY was planning the watchtowers project from way back and although I have no doubt he was driving it LXC was with him and!!!! ugh!!!!! xiyao are REALLY GREAT, okay.

Second time I've written this (thanks tumblr), but here goes.
So I just rewatched The Death Song Of Uther Pendragon and I have some thoughts.
And maybe a reason why Merlin wouldn't have used the Horn of Cathbhadh to speak to Arthur (or any of the others), and why it was never mentioned again.
**
So Gaius tells Merlin that in the days of the old religion, priestesses would train for years before entering the spirit world. But given what the episode actually shows us, that doesn't make an awful lot of sense. Sure, I don't doubt that Arthur was somewhat lucky, and that other dangers could have been there, but it still doesn't seem worth years and years of training. I mean, Arthur, who has neither magic, nor any knowledge on it, can use it, and all he supposedly had to know and remember is "don't turn around".
Which leads me to wonder if there was more that Arthur should have known, if the priestesses would have been taught far more than just to use the Horn. And as I was watching the episode, I think I might have had some ideas.
I don't think the Uther that Arthur found in the spirit world was quite the same Uther he knew.
I believe it was Uther, as opposed to, like, a completely different entity entirely. But as much as Uther was a terrible person, his actions as a ghost didn't seem to quite add up. He did things that even for him, seemed a little off.
I mean, Uther's ONE good quality was that he truly cared about his children, even if he was bad at showing it. Perhaps the best example is in one of the earliest episode, where this conversation happens...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He tells Arthur that he values him more than his whole kingdom. He was willing to risk his life and his honour, he was willing to die, and in doing so put Camelot at great risk, to save his son. Arthur means more to him than anything else. For all his faults, he loved him.
And this carries on. Later, he asks Gaius to use magic to save Arthur. He believes magic to be evil, that its use is a threat. He would never agree to its use for any other reason. But for his son's sake, for the love he has for his son, he is willing to risk all that he has done being a waste. He is willing to threaten his kingdom.
And yet, when Arthur finds his spirit, it says this...
Tumblr media
Of course Uther wants to do right by Arthur and his kingdom, but when a choice needed to be made, he put his son's life above all else while he was alive. His ghost doesn't do that.
And Arthur, who arguably does know him best, struggles to understand or believe his actions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, Arthur has always been blind to Uther's evils, but I believe him. At least partially.
And even if Uther would have killed Percival and Gwen, he would never have hurt Arthur, at least not severely. He would never have risked Arthur's life. He would have allowed Camelot to fall before he would let Arthur die.
But...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He knocks Arthur out.
He is happy to fight him, happy to hurt him. And he walks towards Arthur like he was willing to do worse. Merlin stopping him means we'll never know, but I believe his spirit would have killed Arthur.
Something that Uther would never have even dreamed of.
And I also think that, completely accidentally, Merlin says exactly why.
Tumblr media
A ghost is the imprint of someone who once lived. A ghost and a soul might not even be the same — it may be that Uther's soul has moved on, and the spirit is just residue, something left behind that is a close copy, but not quite the same. Either way, a ghosts priorities will be entirely different to that of a living soul, because a ghost no longer fears death. At least, not the death of the body.
Uther has nothing to fear from dying. He has nothing to fear of Arthur dying. These things don't hold the same weight, because he knows a physical death. He has nothing to fear from it, and by this time he's been dead for a while. He may have even forgotten what mortality feels like.
So what matters most to someone who's already dead? The answer, I think, is holding on to life.
While alive, Uther held great influence and power. The best way to remain in touch with what it is to be alive is to hold on to that, to avoid his memory dying with his body. As long as he is remembered, as long as his influence is still felt throughout his kingdom, he will never truly be gone. As long as his legacy stands, he doesn't have to face what it is to be forgotten and powerless.
After even just a short while in the spirit world, his ghost becomes fixated on this.
He is willing to do things he never would otherwise have done.
He has only one goal in mind, and that is to be known. Arthur's life pales in comparison.
It was no longer Uther that met Arthur in the spirit world. The Uther that had lived had passed on; the ghost was but his shadow, the part of his soul that could not fully accept what death must mean, and shaped in time to fear it.
And that is what I think the priestesses were trained to learn and know. Those they meet in the spirit world will be changed, they will not be the same, because life and death have different needs. A life desires only for them and their loved ones to live, a death demands to be remembered and avenged. The souls have passed on, a ghost is but an imprint.
Death is a complicated and dark magic, there were things Arthur was bound not to know.
Perhaps the priestesses could have retrieved the true souls of those who had passed on. Perhaps the Horn of Cathbhadh was only a door, and the spirit world Arthur saw was only the very first room.
But for someone without that training to use it, they would meet with someone quite different to who they had known. Uther had not been dead long, and his soul was tarnished and cruel enough that the difference was not significant. But even the ghosts of the most pure of heart would, in the numb darkness that is death, fear what it is to lose everything they were. And that fear would grow as time passed and their legacy faded.
Merlin would have realised, after Arthur's death, after he finally had freedom to explore his magical potential, that death is not so simple as the Horn of Cathbhadh made it seem. Perhaps he could have, in time, passed through the spirit world. Perhaps he did. But he would, I think, have known better by the time he was able to do that. And, of course, there was no one left to train him.
So he would have, I believe, let the dead be. Their souls belong somewhere else, somewhere Merlin, for all his power, doesn't know, because he is not dead. And only the dead can know what it is to die.
But none of that matters, because The Horn of Cathbhadh wouldn't have let him see Arthur anyway. Arthur never truly passed on to the spirit world, his soul never left an imprint on this world, because it never truly left.
He is only asleep.
And Merlin will see Arthur again, one day.

Alright. This is going to be shorter than I planned because I keep tying myself in knots over the very first shot, but I'm going to skip straight to my main point about the Dashing White Sergeant, which is this:
Nobody gets to dance with the person opposite them in the circle.
That is not how the dance works. In DWS, you dance with two people: the ones either side of you, in your row of 3. Yes, to be fair, you join hands and walk back and forth to meet your opposite person, but that person never gets your hand. So, how, pray, do we get this:
Tumblr media
AND this:
Tumblr media
Well, it's because, in what is arguably his boldest move since 'carrots', Gilbert breaks the set and spins Anne over to his side:
Tumblr media
When what they're supposed to have done is this:
Tumblr media
ie. Diana, Gilbert and Jane should have performed a straight swap with Caleb, Anne and Charlie. That twirl? Does not exist in the Dashing White Sergeant.
This absolute... opportunist, sees his moment and risks throwing the whole dance just to get to hold Anne's hand. I'm so proud.
The first time they come into the centre he's all smirky, because yes, being face-to-face is fun and an excellent twist on their usual head-to-head. But that's not enough, he wants to dance with her. He's going to get his hand-hold after 3 years of waiting for it, damn it all.
(I know, I know, I'm coming late even to the Netflix release and I've missed the intense week-long dissection of the scene by literal months, so obviously all this has been said. But it's NEW TO ME and I haven't seen the text posts so I'm going to still talk about it).
There is so much metaphorical resonance here.
The two positions (beside and opposite) are supposed to be irreconcilable in the dance. Anne and Gilbert are two people who so often oppose each other but, when it comes to things that really matter, they are on the same side. Likewise, the parts of the dance they spend opposite each other are fleeting, and for the main section, they are on the same side.
Both Anne and Gilbert are the center dancers of their row (the center is the only person who dances throughout - all 4 corner dancers wait out certain bars). This mirrors how both of them have their own storylines, concerns, goals etc in the show. But when Gilbert breaks the set, positioning Anne as to his choosing, he doesn't make her a corner dancer. Instead, she becomes the center dancer of his line. What an interesting fact about the axis on which Planet Gilbert spins.
Even when they're part of the same row, things aren't straightforward: there's a third person involved. In real life it's Winnie; in the dance it's Charlie. Gilbert watches Anne with Charlie and has to wait out the bar. Anne will have to do the same with Winnie.
At the end of the dance - literally in the last few bars - he returns Anne to her original position. In practical terms, this means Mrs Lynde doesn't have anything to complain about, as there's no evidence by the end that the set was ever broken. In sneaky terms, it means he gets to finish the dance face-to-face making eyes with Anne, and not Jane or Diana. In heartbreaking terms, it foreshadows how (at least for now) the discoveries made during the dance aren't going to change their relationship, as everything goes 'back to normal' on the outside. In romantic terms, it could be seen as Gilbert saying: "I want you by my side, but in the end, I'll put you before myself" (in the sense that 'before' can also mean 'in front of').
Breaking the set ought to have thrown everything off - if nobody else moves, Gilbert has put Anne next to Diana, so the boy-girl-boy-girl pattern is lost. The fact that the dance is able to continue means that others have moved to compensate. Crucially, one of them is Diana, who is best placed to perform damage control as it's her spot Anne's moved into -– foreshadowing her manoeuvring the situation on the train and saving the day! But it's not just Diana: everyone in the set will have noticed the shift – mirroring how the whole of Avonlea are basically aware of how these two feel about each other before they are.
Or, in more mathematical terms, the other 4 people in the set, shifting to make way for Shirbert, represent the 4 people with the most to say about Shirbert: Jane plays Winnie (telling Anne she isn't engaged to Gilbert; this parallel works weirdly well since Jane and Gilbert are seen dancing together, and Jane's traditional values mirror Winnie's 'expectations') Diana plays herself (being the person best placed to call Gilbert out the train journey, and being the person best placed to compensate in the dance itself, since Anne's in her spot. Damn, she even does the callout opposite him in a train carriage, a position usually held by Anne). Charlie plays Cole (telling Anne about Gilbert's crush; interesting, then, that Charlie's got a crush on Anne) and Caleb Lynde plays Bash (knowing about Shirbert before so much as meeting Anne; and would you LOOK at that, I was about to say I can't find a link between Caleb and Bash, but the link is MISS STACY!)
Most dancers look in the direction they are skipping in for the circle part of the dance: Gilbert and Anne look dead across at each other before the swap, and then after the swap:
Tumblr media
...yeah, they're looking at each other the whole time, even for the direction change - which means that one of them is always skipping 'backwards' (sideways, but against the direction they're facing, led by the other). If that ain't a metaphor for trust, I don't know what is. Also, they will each be the backwards-facer for the same amount of steps, and if that ain't a metaphor for compromise... you get what I'm saying.
I will probably think of a few more resonances after posting this, and yes, I know that I'm reaching on some of it, but even without all that symbolism, you HAVE to hand it to Gilbert. As far as he knows this might be the only time he'll ever get to dance with Anne, so he's going to make the most of EVERY SECOND, and dance more with her in that one rehearsal than any other couple in the room have managed in two.
Something else I like, as well, is that he knows the format of the dance from watching the initial demonstration - so he COULD have tried the spin in the first run-through. But he doesn't do it until he gets the vibe from their first face-to-face that Anne, maybe... isn't opposed to dancing with him. (Also, he waits 'til he's invalided Moody out of the running, freeing his buddy up to give them some nice twinkly backing music... Gosh, Gilbert, how far back does your web of cunning go?!)
Just as a parting shot, I'll point out that Miss Stacy is the one who pushes Gilbert (nonsensically) to the other side of the room, where Anne ends up. I say nonsensically because at the beginning they're standing like this:
Tumblr media
with Gilbert being the ONLY boy on the right hand side of the room, so no way should he be moving across. What actually needs to happen is that two boys from the left should go to join him. Gilbert should have stayed put. But no, Miss Stacy wants him over there:
Tumblr media
She ships it, y'all.
Gilbert then stands for a bit in the middle of the room, foreshadowing his indecision/being torn between two options later on:
Tumblr media
Look at him, stroking his chin, all confused! Thankfully, Mrs Lynde is there to park him firmly on the left side of the room, ensuring proximity to Anne. Thanks, Rachel. Thanks, Ms Stacy.
And most of all, thanks to whoever choreographed this scene! It took me so long to get a comprehensive look at Gilbert's actions because I kept getting distracted by everything else that's going on: Ruby, Tillie and Jane are all wonderful too, and let's not forget Moody and Charlie partnering each other just before Mrs Lynde yells 'stop'. Wonderful. Perfect scene is perfect.

i really enjoy reading your opinions/takes on the story and the characters so i was wondering, if the bombs hadn't dropped, what would you think would have happened? with the deputy, with hope county, with the surviving members of edens gate... i've been thinking about it quite a bit and was wondering what you think! stay safe and have a good day/evening!
Thank you! :)
So, in my opinion, this is what could happen after the three different endings:
If the Deputy chooses to resist but the bombs don’t drop (which couldn’t happen in canon because the prophecy is real), I suppose Joseph gets arrested and charged. Civilians can finally get outside help, put Hope County back together, try to move on, and probably hunt down the remaining cultists. Hudson can roast a turkey to celebrate and the Junior Deputy either gets medals or gets fired, as she said. They have a lot of paperwork to do. People are grateful to the Deputy but a lot of lives were lost and everyone is traumatized.
If the Deputy chooses to walk away and not fight Joseph, they get in the car with the Sheriff and the other Deputies but end up killing all of them (and maybe dying as well) because “Only You” starts playing on the radio. Nine of the Deputy’s allies are now Joseph’s new “flock”. Eden’s Gate is not defeated so Hope County is probably still on lockdown and civilians don’t get outside help. Maybe some of them eventually decide to join the cult. Everyone is traumatized and people died for absolutely nothing.
If the Deputy doesn’t arrest Joseph in the church at the beginning of the game, the First Seal isn’t broken so the Reaping never begins and the cult never becomes violent. Everyone who died in the game (Boomer’s family, cultists, the Heralds, Eli, Virgil, Burke, etc.) is fine. There is still an arrest warrant so the Marshal (and maybe the Sheriff and his Deputies) come back with a bigger and better-prepared team to arrest Joseph. The Heralds probably get arrested too as well as some cultists. If I’m not mistaken, in the USA, lawyers can defend themselves and their family so John probably does this. I trust Faith’s ability to convince the jury she was innocent. Joseph most likely ends up in jail, though, but rallies many new followers. Eden’s Gate still exists and maybe the prophecy can still be fulfilled one day. But for now, Hope County remains free and the Deputy can live a normal life.
I also like to think about other possibilities. What if the bombs drop and the Deputy ends up in Dutch’s bunker with Joseph and at least one of the Heralds? What if they end up in Dutch’s bunker without Joseph? What if the Deputy actually listens to him and stops murdering everyone? What if they join Eden’s Gate and fulfill another version of the prophecy, the one in which they don’t kill the Heralds but the Collapse happens anyway and they build New Eden together (this possibility is alluded to in the game)?
Or this one that’s a little strange but that I think has great potential: What if everything that happens to the Deputy in the game, plus the seven years they spend with Joseph in the bunker, plus what happens after is actually a vision, a divine warning the Deputy and Joseph experience when they meet for the first time but that feels very real to the both of them?
Or the best one: What if the Seeds don’t grow up in a dysfunctional family, get to live a normal, happy, trauma-free life, and the Far Cry 5 God, arguably the real villain of the story, either doesn’t exist or just stops ruining everyone’s life?

i've been getting back into hetalia and you and france seem so cute!! could you tell me a little bit about the two of you, and maybe your kids? i'd love to know more ^^
Ahh thank you Jenna! It’s been a little bit since I’ve talked about Francis, so I’m really happy you asked! ^^)/💕
I’m not really sure what to say off the top of my head, honestly. I definitely didn’t have eyes for France when I first watched Hetalia, but after 5 years and a re-viewing of the series, I instantly fell in love with his stupidly cute charm. As ridiculous as he is, and as much as my friends bullied me for it, I just couldn’t help falling for him.
I’m still a little unclear on how exactly we met (I have multiple different versions of how it went in my head ahah), but I like the idea that we met in Paris while I was visiting there. It would be completely coincidental, one of those “same place same time” meetings. I noticed him first, but the second he saw me, he instantly felt a connection. Even after we parted ways, and I came back home to America, we both continued to think about each other. Until one day, I returned to France and fate brought us back together again ❤️
He knows how to make any time we spend together very romantic, whether it’s something as simple as visiting an art gallery or dressing up to go dancing and to a fancy dinner. We love to take walks around Paris, while Francis talks excitedly about all of the landmarks and the history associated with them. I’m not much of a history person, but it’s interesting to hear him explain things so passionately. He loves that I don’t know much about French history so he can talk about it all. He also loves that I’m an artist, although we have very different styles of artwork that we enjoy, he thinks it’s fascinating to watch me draw and to talk about my passions as well.
As for our kids, we have three of them: Belle, Jean, and Leo. They are all bilingual, although they are much more fluent in French since we live in Paris. Belle is a bit spoiled, and has a taste for expensive and pretty things and frilly clothing. She was very sweet and soft-spoken when she was younger, but she grew to be a lot more confident and friendly as she grew up. Her first younger brother, Jean, is the middle child, but arguably the most mature of all of them. He’s tall, and flirtatious, and much like his father in personality. He also has the best grasp on speaking English properly. The youngest, Leo, is a lot more like me. Childish, bright, and outgoing with friends, but can be shy around strangers.
Thank you very much for asking~! ^^

The Villain -- Ch. 1: We’re Missing Katsuki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: SO after the very positive feedback I received from my little villain!bakugou AU scenario I made, I've decided to make it into a series. It’s my first time writing a series on here so bear with me if it ends up being utter shit lol.
And I may be changing a few things compared to what I wrote in the one shot scenario so disregard some things if some information is different. And, this chapter is a little lackluster only because I wanted to establish the basic plot first before indulging into the juicy parts lol. Sorry that this is absolute dog shit, I did what I could.
Remember, if you want to be tagged in future chapters, comment below and I’ll add your username to the list?

Three Years Ago
“This is Japan Daily News reporting to you live from our broadcasting studio. Just moments ago, police have reported that the leader of the League of Villains, Shigaraki Tomura, has been pronounced dead. The man who killed him is former U.A. rising star student, Bakugou Katsuki, a young man who is now in his early twenties. Before the incident, Bakugou was kidnapped by the League in Kamino following former pro, All Might’s, final battle as a pro hero. No one has seen Bakugou since, but now, after seemingly committing three murders as well as the kidnapping of over twenty young aspiring heroes, Bakugou Katsuki has been pronounced the most dangerous man alive. If you see this man, report to the police immediate--”
Kirishima turned the television off before he could hear another word. “It’s pissing me off.”
You stared at the now blank television screen, completely frozen from the information that was just relayed. “That was... Katsuki.”
“Yeah, that was Bakugou. He really did join the League after all,” Kirishima muttered.
“It’s been seven years since we’ve heard from him and he goes and does something like this...” Mina uttered in disbelief.
Kirishima rose up from his chair, beelining for the door. “Thanks for lunch, Y/N. I’m going home after this bullshit.”
The sound of the door shutting echoed throughout your apartment. You continued to glue your gaze on the screen, grabbing the remote and turning the television back on.
“We now have a witness, one of the aspiring heroes that was kidnapped by Bakugou.” The news reporter turned to a young woman who was standing beside her, shivering from pure fright and shock. “What happened, dear?”
“He... He threatened us all... saying that he’d kill our families if we didnt join th-the League,” the girl stuttered.
“Bakugou Katsuki threatened you?”
The girl shook her head, widening her eyes at the news reporter. “No... the one with the scars and piercings did.”
You turned the television back off and leaned back in your chair. Mina looked at you with sympathy. “I can make some tea for you if you want, Y/N.”
You shook your head, looking down at your hands. “That’s alright. Thanks though.”
Mina rubbed your back. “I know how much he meant to you.”
Your hand clenched into a fist. “Do you... Do you really think he did it? Killed Shigaraki and kidnapped all those people?”
Mina sighed. “I’m not sure. He’s not the same Bakugou we went to school with, you know?”
“But he is!”
“Y/N...”
“He is, I'm telling you!” You grabbed Mina’s hands in your own. “He was kidnapped by the League, Mina. Deku even said Katsuki blames himself for All Might’s end, and maybe that triggered him to wanting to become a villain. I know he’s not evil. There’s no proof that he actually committed those crimes.”
“Are you sure you’re not just saying that because of how you felt about him back in U.A.?”
“Of course not. We graduated ten years ago and I haven’t seen him since. There’s no way he would just decide to become a villain out of nowhere, Mina, I know him.”
Mina sighed, looking down at your clasped hands. “I wanna believe that, too, but there isn’t much evidence supporting that he’s a good guy, Y/N. And we’re pros now. It’s our job to protect those who can’t protect themselves. And if there comes a time in the future where we have to choose between Bakugou and an innocent civilian, we are literally authorized to choose the civilian.”
“I know. But we have no idea if we’d ever be put in a situation like that with Katsuki.”
“Y/N.”
“I know, I know.” This time it was your turn to sigh.
“You have to be more professional now. In two days, the whole world is gonna recognize you as the number one hero and as the new symbol of peace. You can’t let a high school crush get in the way of that.”
You waved her off. “Oh, please. I liked Katsuki ten years ago. There’s no way I still feel that way about him.”
***
Present
“The League has stayed under the radar for the past two and half years. Despite a few run-ins with the Vanguard, it seems they aren’t making any flashy moves, not yet at least.”
“Still, we have to be on our feet at all times, right, Natsuya?” you said, looking at the notes that you were provided.
Before entering U.A. ten years ago, your childhood friend Yamashita Natsuya was rather close with you. Due to him being quirkless, he had no intention of wanting to even be affiliated with heroes and would often be confused as to why you wanted to become a hero in the first place. Nevertheless, he continued to support your ambitions, especially when he decided to enter the police academy and is now the Chief of Police as well as the most acclaimed detective in Japan, often working alongside you, the acclaimed number one hero.
Natsuya nodded. “That’s right. The police force is doing what we can to track down the League and that Bakugou guy. In the meantime, I’ll send you and Ashido the details about the members of the League and the Vanguard. We’re also calling in more reinforcements from the other Japan branches. This case’ll be big and we need all the help we can get.”
“You’re calling in other pros?” Mina asked.
Natsuya nodded once more, turning a page in one of his files. “Yeah, we’re calling in Cellophane, Earphone Jack, Froppy, Red Riot, and Charge Bolt. They’ll be temporarily staying in this branch and helping us out.”
You gasped in delight. “Sero, Kyouka, Tsuyu, Kirishima, and Kaminari are coming here?!”
“Yup. And if things get rough we might even call in Shouto, Tenya, Uravity, and Deku.”
“I haven’t heard from them in a while. It’s good to have the gang come back all together,” Mina said with a grin, you nodding along and agreeing with her. “Well, if that’s it, Mr. Chief of Police, we’ll be on our way.”
“Wait.” Natsuya grabbed your wrist, pulling you back into the conference room.
Your eyes widened instinctively from the sudden touch, turning back to Mina with a soft smile. “I’ll meet you at the apartment, Mina.”
Mina’s face broke out into a huge grin, waving goodbye to you. “I’ll leave you two love birds alone.”
You blushed, turning to face Natsuya who also had the same rosy color on his cheeks. He let go of your wrist. “I just wanted to say for you to be careful.”
“You know I'm always careful, Natsu.”
“That’s a damn lie and you and I both know that.” You both chuckled, remembering the numerous times you’ve been in the hospital due to your avid clumsiness. “But, I'm serious this time. The Department is saying the Vanguard is apparently attacking cities where huge pro heroes are. You’re number one and it’ll only be a matter of time until they attack you. I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
You smiled, caressing Natsuya’s cheek with your hand. “I’ll be fine, I mean it. If it makes you feel better, once you call in all the other pros, I'll make sure I'm never alone so at least I'll always have backup.”
Natsuya sighed, causing one of his brown locks to fall on his forehead. “Okay, fine.” He opened the door for you. “Just don’t do anything stupid, Y/N.”
You waved him off. “Have a little faith, Natsu. I’m number one for a reason.”
He laughed and the two of you said your goodbyes. As you left the police department, Mina got up from her previous position of sitting on the bare concrete while waiting for you.
“Wow, that was faster than I expected,” Mina commented, looping her arm around yours as the two of you began walking to your shared apartment.
“He was just warning me to be careful. What’d you expect?”
Mina shrugged as you turned the corner. “Oh, you know, just the occasional flirty look over here, a make out session over there, and then you two ending up banging on his desk--”
“Okay, that’s enough!” You said, waving your hands in front of you, feeling your face burn up completely as Mina laughed at your expression. “We’ve only been dating for two weeks, you know.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Mina waved you off. “It’s about time, too. It only took Yamashita over twenty years to finally ask you out. If he didn't end up asking you out though, I would’ve done it for him.”
You chuckled. “I appreciate your concern, but we started out as best friends since we were kids. There was no rush for me to get into a relationship.”
“Y/N, you’re a hot twenty-six-year-old woman. I’m still wondering how Yamashita didn't propose to you the minute he saw you.” Mina shrugged as the two of you arrived in front of your complex, walking up to your apartment.
You pulled out your keys to unlock the door. “Well, I never really liked him before. It’s the same way if Kirishima ever asked you out when you two were in middle school.”
Mina grimaced. “You’re right. I take it back.”
You chuckled, plopping down in front of your couch. “By the way, it’s your turn to cook tonight.”
Mina groaned. “Fine, but I'm picking tonight’s movie.”
You laughed. “Let me check what’s on cable right now.”
You leaned forward towards the coffee table, grabbing the remote and turning the television on. The Japan Daily News popped up.
“It seems that Kanto region here will be filled with arguably a few of the biggest pro heroes today. The Chief of Police, Yamashita Natsuya--”
“That’s your boyfriend!”
“I know, Mina! Now shut up so I can listen!”
“--has called forth the following heroes to Kanto in assistance with the cases filed against the League of Villains and the Vanguard Action Squad: Earphone Jack, Cellophane, Red Riot, Froppy, and Charge Bolt.”
“So Natsuya’s not gonna call Todoroki, Deku, Iida, or Ochako, huh?” You muttered.
Mina sat down beside you. “May be he thinks it’s okay as long as we’re all here.”
You shrugged. “May be. We don’t even know what the League is planning.”
“League or no League, I'm just glad that the gang’s back together! It’ll be just like the good ole days!”
You sighed softly. “Yeah, but we’re missing Katsuki.”
Mina eyed you briefly, all evidence of happiness erased from her face before looking back at the TV again. “Look, I know how much he meant to you and how close you two were. But he’s not the same Bakugou from all those years ago. You’ve gotta let those old feelings go, Y/N.”
You sat up, facing her. “This isn’t about some old high school feelings I've felt before. This is my concern as someone who was his friend. I still believe there’s something that we don’t know, Mina.”
Mina sighed, leaning back and lying down on the couch. “Okay, that’s fair enough. As long as you don’t have any unnecessary feelings for Bakugou.”
“Of course not. After all, I have Natsuya now. I don’t even care about Bakugou beyond an old friendship.”

I'VE BEEN PONDERING MONEY
One day, we'd think of ourselves as the next Google. You can see this most clearly in New York, where people walk around smiling. Is that all it takes? We're more patient. Classical scholarship had also changed. You can't make the pie larger, say politicians. The bully can probably run downstairs as fast as you can; rewrite it over and over; cut DEL: out: DEL everything unnecessary; write in a conversational tone; develop a nose for bad writing, so I do occasionally yank it back in that direction, but it can be a sign of a good thing, there do seem to be material, even in fast food, which have deliberately had all the money, it left less for everyone else. Several founders said what surprised them most was the general spirit of benevolence: One of the most important work being done was intellectual archaelogy. Gay marriage, for or against?
We tried to explain how to make money. Fortunately I discovered that when a startup needed to talk to.1 What difference does it make how many others there are?2 A mediocre programmer over the same period will generate zero or even negative wealth e. The most obvious advantage of not needing money is that you are already working as hard as you possibly can. When you're talking about.3 And certainly Dickens himself would be more interested in an essay about it.
They wouldn't well, seven of the eight groups wouldn't be interested in making money by speculating in stocks.4 And the second could probably be condensed into two words: give up. What other alternative is there? But what you tell him doesn't matter, so long as it's interesting. Com, which their friends at Parse took. So if you managed to recruit her to help us.5 But as startup investors they'd have to compete against pros with a great deal more experience and motivation.6 The ones on startups get tested by about 70 people every 6 months.7 If circumstances had been different, the people running Yahoo might have realized sooner how important search was.8
Immediately Alien Studies would become the most dynamic field of scholarship: instead of painstakingly discovering things for ourselves, we could simply suck up everything they'd discovered. Because he had grown up there and remembered how nice it was. Instead of trading violins directly for potatoes, you trade violins for, say, silver, which you can then trade again for anything else you wanted, you wouldn't need money.9 But there are worse things than seeming irresponsible. You should only write about things you've thought about a lot, and you can probably get three times as much. Smart people will go wherever other smart people are.10 And yet this principle is built into the very structure of the essays they teach you to write in high school, I find still have black marks against them in my mind. The reason I know that naming companies is a distinct skill orthogonal to the others you need in a startup hub.11 If anything, it's more like the square of the environment. Those places have too much momentum in the wrong direction.12
It's often mistakenly believed that medieval universities were mostly seminaries. The university you could create in a couple days if you have sufficient discipline to acknowledge the problem. When you can't get users, though.13 Com of their name. Plenty of 25 year olds save nothing anyway.14 You can still raise money, you make one. And if they are paying you x dollars a year, then on average you must be contributing at least x dollars a year worth of work, like acting or writing books, you can't tell who the good hackers are.
So if you want to get rich by creating wealth, you have to work to maintain your relationship.15 If you work patiently it's less stressful, and you have no Thomas Edisons. Whereas Bill, if the rumors of autism are true, knows all too well. Reading P. I went to work at Yahoo. You pick the companies you want to make a company successful. And Farnsworth's reward for his efforts was a decade of patent litigation.
Notes
The former is obviously a better influence on your thesis. Till then they had to push to being told that they don't know yet what they're capable of. 107.
So it is very visible in Silicon Valley is no different from a 6/03 Nielsen study quoted on Google's site. Because we know nothing about the size of the next round to be better at opening it than people who should quit their day job, or at least once for that they won't tell you all the worse if you're a YC startup and you have good net growth till you run through all the free OSes first-rate technical people do not generally the common stock holders who take big acquisition offers that super-angels gradually to erode. To get all you know the electoral vote decides the election, so it may seem to them to.
73 billion. It would be far less demand for them.
We consciously optimize for this at YC I find hardest to get the money, you need to do something we didn't, they might shy away from the VCs' point of saying that this filter runs on.
People who know the inventor of something the telephone, the median case. I was a strong one.
You can get it, but it turns out only to the customer: you post a sign in a world with antibiotics or air travel or an acquisition for more than you expect. Not even being Genghis Khan is probably 99% cooperation. This is why I haven't released Arc. Giant tax loopholes defended by two of each type of proficiency test any apprentice might have.
So it's a collection itself. One of the mail by Anton van Straaten on semantic compression. 4%, and mostly in less nerdy fields like finance and media. He had such a valuable technique that any given college.
And so to the customer: you post a sign in a spiral. If idea clashes became common enough, it would do it in action, go talk to, so we should have become direct marketers. So managers are constrained too; instead of using special euphemisms for lies that seem promising can usually get enough money from the most successful startups get started in 1975.
Thanks to Daniel Sobral for pointing this out.
Paul Buchheit points out that it's no longer working to help the company goes public. Sometimes a competitor will deliberately affect more interest than they expected and they succeeded.
But arguably that is allowing economic inequality start to get you a question you don't even sound that plausible. I'm thinking of Oresme c. And that is worth studying as a source of them material. For founders who go on to create a great one.
They thought I was a new database will probably not do this with prices too, of course.
In the original source of them is a trailing indicator in any case, not because Delicious users are not more.
The question to ask about what was happening in them, if the VC knows you well, since that was actively maintained would be taught that masturbation was perfectly normal and not incompatible answers: a It did. Frankfurt, Harry, On Bullshit, Princeton University Press, 1981. I think so.
That's the difference between being judged as a single project is a bad idea. I also skipped San Jose is a bit more complicated, because a it's too hard at fixing bugs—which is just about the difference. An earlier version of the people who need the money they're paid isn't a quid pro quo.
Thanks to Jeff Arnold, Paul Buchheit, Jessica Livingston, and Robert Morris for inviting me to speak.
