Part 23: Peaches
Recovered content
Peaches’ description was available on the American website from February 9th, 2018, to February 7th, 2020, at least:
FANGS FOR HIRE
PEACHES
Peaches was raised in captivity, but some would argue that makes her a more vicious predator than any cougar from the wild—especially after being tended to by Miss Mable, the meanest, grumpiest, most acidic old lady in Hope County.
After having the comfort of her daily routine broken by Eden’s Gate, Peaches escaped captivity and tapped in to her hunter instincts. She will gleefully tear apart and feast on any cultists unlucky enough to disturb her mid-afternoon catnap.
You would actually “Learn More” (although not much) thanks to the linked News article, “The Hope County Resistance” posted on February 8th, 2018:
PEACHES - The Feline Powerhouse - STEALTH
Name: PEACHES
Role: Fang for Hire
Bio: Peaches was raised in captivity, but some would argue that makes her a more vicious predator than any cougar from the wild—especially after being tended to by Miss Mable, the meanest, grumpiest, most acidic old lady in Hope County. After having the comfort of her daily routine broken by Eden’s Gate, Peaches escaped captivity and tapped in to her hunter instincts. She will gleefully tear apart and feast on any cultists unlucky enough to disturb her mid-afternoon catnap. Even as powerful, silent, and deadly as she is, Peaches is just a big kitty at heart, and will follow you anywhere if she hears you shaking a bag of her favorite treats.
The European website called her The Cougar and said this:
PEACHES
THE COUGAR
After having the comfort of her daily routine broken by Eden’s Gate, Peaches escaped captivity and tapped in to her finest killing machine instincts.
She gleefully tears apart and feasts on cultists unlucky enough to disturb her mid-afternoon cat-nap. Powerful, silent, and deadly, Peaches is just a big kitty at heart, and will follow you anywhere if she hears you shaking a bag of her treats.
Commentary
I don’t have anything to say about the descriptions because they seem consistent with Far Cry 5 to me! It’s just a shame that there was no Character Spotlight trailer for Peaches (or Cheeseburger)...

Part 22: Boomer
Recovered content
Although Boomer was announced very early, his description wasn’t on the American website on July 13th, 2017. On February 9th, 2018, however, it was available:
FANGS FOR HIRE
BOOMER
Boomer is a former bird-dog Regional Champion. After a successful career, he was content to spend his retirement at his owner Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm. Then the cult stepped in and took his family from him. But Boomer is still a loyal companion to those he can trust, and he's always ready to use his keen senses to take down the cult.
His other description, from the February 8th, 2018 article “The Hope County Resistance”, wasn’t much different, but it was what clicking “Learn More” would lead you to anyway:
BOOMER - The Good Boy - SCOUT
Name: BOOMER
Role: Fang for Hire
Bio: Boomer is a former bird-dog regional champion. After a successful career, he was content to spend his retirement at his owner Rae-Rae's pumpkin farm. Then the cult stepped in and took his family away from him. But Boomer remains a loyal companion to those he can trust, and he's always ready to use his keen senses to take down the cult.
Boomer is the only Fang for Hire that has a Character Spotlight trailer, and it was later (on or before March 27th, 2018) added under his description:
Here is the video:
The European website gave him a nickname, The Dog, and this description:
BOOMER
THE DOG
He’s an old dog who’s up for new tricks. The cult stepped in and took his family from him.
But Boomer is still a loyal companion to those he can trust, and he's always ready to use his keen senses to take down the cult.
There, like for Grace and Nick, “More Info” redirected to the Cosplay Reference Guide shared in June 2017:
BOOMER
He’s an old dog who’s up for new tricks. Initially abandoned because of the chaos caused by Project at Eden’s Gate, he’s now looking for a new master and is eager to help you fight the cult.
And the Character Spotlight video was included too:
Commentary
The first two descriptions from the American website and the one from the European website are consistent with the game. Weirdly, the Cosplay Guide says he’s been abandoned, so I suppose that was part of an early version of the story and later changed.
Also, I think making him “talk” in the video was a cute idea.

Part 21: Jess Black
Recovered content
Information about Jess was added on or before February 9th, 2018, on the American website:
THE MASTER HUNTRESS
JESS BLACK
Jess’s parents were frequently out of work, so she moved around a lot and never had a proper childhood. As a result, trouble found her early: fistfights in the school hallways, late-night graffiti, dealing drugs, petty theft, and even setting fire to the principal’s car.
One night, while she and her family were sleeping, an Eden’s Gate henchman named The Cook broke into their house and abducted them. The Cook starved and tortured them relentlessly before finally killing Jess’s parents in front of her.
She’s determined to save everyone she can and get revenge on The Cook. In a roundabout way, Jess found her true calling: killing.
The News article posted on February 8th, 2018, “The Hope County Resistance”, which is where clicking “Learn More” would take you, said:
JESS BLACK - The Master Huntress - HUNTER
Name: JESS BLACK
Role: Gun for Hire
Bio: Jess’s parents were frequently out of work, so she moved around a lot and never had a proper childhood. As a result, trouble found her early: fistfights in the school hallways, late-night graffiti, dealing drugs, petty theft, and even setting fire to the principal’s car. Sick of her home life, Jess ran away to live with her badass Granny, a hard-core prepper and survivalist. No-nonsense Granny straightened her out fast by teaching her how to hunt and live off the land. For the first time ever, Jess finally had a role model and a sense of stability. After her Granny passed away, Jess, a changed woman, went back to living with her folks. Just when things were starting to go right, Eden’s Gate showed up and they quickly went south.
One night, while she and her family were sleeping, an Eden’s Gate henchman named The Cook broke into their house and abducted them. The Cook starved and tortured them relentlessly before finally killing Jess’s parents in front of her. But Jess escaped, and thanks to her Granny’s lessons, she now has the know-how to take down cultists and rescue others. She’s determined to save everyone she can and get revenge on The Cook. In a roundabout way, Jess found her true calling: killing.
Her other description remained identical but the Character Spotlight trailer about her was later included:
This video:
On the European website, Jess was simply The Huntress, not The Master Huntress, and this was her description:
JESS BLACK
THE HUNTRESS
Sick of her home life with parents always out of work, Jess ran away to live with her badass Granny, a hardcore prepper and survivalist.
After her Granny passed away, Jess went back to living with her folks as a changed woman. But then Eden’s Gate showed up and things quickly went south.
Thanks to her Granny’s lessons, Jess now has the know-how to take down cultists and rescue others. In a roundabout way, had it not been her upbringing, Granny’s lessons and Eden’s Gate moving in, Jess never would have found her true calling: killing.
The video, as usual, was the same as the American one, but from Ubisoft UK instead of Ubisoft North America:
Commentary
We knew Jess had “been through a lot” (according to her uncle Dutch), that she did all sorts of illegal things when she was younger, such as drugs and shoplifting (according to Jess herself), and that her parents were killed by the Cook (although, like Jerome being abducted and beaten, the timeline of that is weird), but I don’t remember anyone in the game saying she ran away from home because she felt neglected. As for her badass prepper grandmother, we don’t know much about her but since Jess does mention her, that part still seems true.

Part 20: Hurk Drubman Jr.
Recovered content
Hurk’s description, like most Guns for Hire’s, was already on the American website on February 9th, 2018:
DANGEROUSLY STUPID
HURK DRUBMAN JR
Hurk Jr. was born two prongs short of a fork, raised on TV dinners and soap operas in the absence of his father (Hurk Sr.) and his mother (Adelaide), who ran the family’s small business.
Hurk Jr. lives with his dad in a fortified compound, “enjoying” the old man’s company and the many guns and armored vehicles on the property.
Hurk believes in only three things: poundin' brews, rockin' it all the time, and givin’ praise to the Monkey King who will eventually bestow him with great fortune.
As for “The Hope County Resistance”, the article from February 8th, 2018, accessible via “Learn More”, it said:
HURK DRUBMAN JR - Just Dangerously Stupid - RPG
Name: HURK DRUBMAN JR
Role: Gun for Hire
Bio: Hurk Jr. was born two prongs short of a fork, raised on TV dinners and soap operas in the absence of his father (Hurk Sr.) and his mother (Adelaide), who ran the family’s small business. Hurk Jr. tried his hardest to figure things out on his own. Thirty-five years later, the dude can barely zip his own fly.
When Hurk Jr.’s mother ran away with another man, his father decided to enter politics and moved to their homestead in the Whitetail Mountains, where he could feed his devotion to right-wing paranoia in full.
Hurk Jr.’s response was to spend the next few years backpacking around the world, from Rook Island to Kyrat, but he eventually found his way back to Hope County. Now Hurk Jr. lives with his dad in a fortified compound, “enjoying” the old man’s company and the many guns and armored vehicles on the property.
Hurk believes in only three things: poundin' brews, rockin' it all the time, and givin’ praise to the Monkey King who will eventually bestow him with great fortune.
A video about him was then added to his information box, but the text stayed the same:
It was this trailer:
The European website kindly called him The One and Only instead of Dangerously Stupid and described him as follows:
HURK DRUBMAN JR.
THE ONE AND ONLY
At first glance he looks like someone you already met…
Hurk Jr. spend a few years backpacking around the world, from Rook Island to Kyrat, but he eventually found his way back to Hope County.
Hurk believes in only three things: poundin' brews, rockin' it all the time, and giving praise to the Monkey King who will eventually bestow him with great fortune.
The video they included was this one:
Commentary
I don’t know if Hurk’s parents were as absent as the descriptions make it seem because he explains in the game that he was homeschooled, but it’s true Adelaide was busy running her husband’s business while he was... not doing much, except maybe drinking.
I am, once again, confused by the timeline. Does the second description imply Hurk is 35? It’s impossible since he’s older than Sharky who, according to his in-game wanted poster, is 37 (almost 38). If he started traveling the world right after his parents’ divorce, which happened either when he was 25 (according to Adelaide) or 30 (according to Hurk), and went to the Rook Islands first (in 2012), he could indeed be as young as 31 or 36… In short: I still have no idea how old he’s supposed to be.
As for the part about Adelaide running away with another man, it’s not impossible, but her description implied she had met Xander recently and that her divorce, which most likely happened years before the events of the game, had more to do with Senior’s behavior than anything else. That said, maybe the other man wasn’t Xander and just someone she simply never mentions in Far Cry 5. After all, we know she’s had a lot of lovers in her life.

Part 19: Adelaide Drubman
Recovered content
The first time Adelaide appears on an archive of the American website is on February 9th, 2018:
THE CHOPPER QUEEN
ADELAIDE DRUBMAN
Adelaide Drubman is healthier, wealthier, and wiser than most folks. Just ask her: she’ll be glad to tell you all about herself.
Addie married a wealthy older man, Hurk Drubman Sr., when she was in her 20s.
After a decade of indifference and infidelity from her husband, Addie filed for divorce.
Paradise was lost once Eden’s Gate started sniffing around, begging to buy up her land. When she refused to sell out, they came with guns and took it by force. Banished from her own home, a furious Addie has been plotting revenge and brushing up on target practice with her prized AK-47.
“Learn More” was once again a link to “The Hope County Resistance” (February 8th, 2018), and the article said this about her:
ADELAIDE DRUBMAN - The Chopper Queen - PILOT
Name: ADELAIDE DRUBMAN
Role: Gun for Hire
Bio: Adelaide Drubman is healthier, wealthier, and wiser than most folks. Just ask her: she’ll be glad to tell you all about herself.
Addie married a wealthy older man, Hurk Drubman Sr., when she was in her 20s. Their shared love of Reagan, Jesus Christ, and the NRA was a match made in heaven. It was after their son Hurk Jr. was born that Hurk Sr.’s attention started to drift to…other interests. While father and son went on hunting trips, Addie stayed home to manage Hurk Sr.’s holdings—unpaid of course.
After a decade of indifference and infidelity from her husband, Addie filed for divorce. She and her lawyer ensured she got the lion’s share, including Hurk Sr.’s marina. In turn, she “let” Hurk Sr. keep the kid and enjoyed her life to the fullest: booze, bazookas, and boy toys. Now in her 50s, Addie is still trying to live the same life. A few months ago, she spied a hot young SoCal mimbo on vacation at her marina. One look at his big…blue eyes and she just had to have him. Her bank account was full to bursting, so Addie lavished him with gifts and, after a while, convinced Xander Holt to move in with her. For Adelaide, it was paradise.
But paradise was lost once Eden’s Gate started sniffing around, begging to buy up her land. When she refused to sell out, they came with guns and took it by force. Banished from her own home, a furious Addie has been plotting revenge and brushing up on target practice with her prized AK-47.
A trailer then replaced “Learn More”, but the rest of the text didn’t change:
It was this video:
As for the European website, which called her Hurk’s Mom instead of The Chopper Queen, this is what it said about her:
ADELAIDE DRUBMAN
HURK’S MOM
Adelaide Drubman is healthier, wealthier, and wiser than most folks.
But paradise was lost once Eden’s Gate banished her from her own home. Since then, a furious Addie has flown the skies in her helicopter plotting her revenge.
And here is the embedded trailer:
Commentary
Interestingly, while she was always called The Chopper Queen on the American website, they don’t mention her helicopter, Tulip. However, Eden’s Gate indeed stole her home, the Drubman Marina (but that most likely happened when the Reaping began, not before). She got it when she divorced Hurk Drubman Sr., whom she says is lazy and preferred to drink instead of running his business. I don’t think she ever says he cheated on her, but Hurk Jr. hints (sometimes without even realizing it) that she cheated on his dad.
The game doesn’t say how old she is, but if she really got married in her 20s, filed for divorce after only “a decade” of indifference, and is now in her 50s... well, I’m even more confused by the timeline than I already was!
Her boyfriend Xander is still from California in Far Cry 5, but his last name is Flynn, not Holt. As for his eyes, they appear to be brown/hazel and not blue. As far as I know, there is no information about Adelaide showering him with gifts but I think it’s totally believable. And this is a detail, but the gun she uses is an “AR-C”, not an AK-47.

Part 18: Sharky Boshaw
Recovered content
Sharky made his entrance on the American website on or before February 9th, 2018:
THE PYROTECHNICS PHENOM
SHARKY BOSHAW
His birth certificate says Charlemagne Victor Boshaw IV, but he’d prefer it if you called him Sharky. His parole officer calls him a serial arsonist, but he’d prefer the term, “fire enthusiast.” See, wherever Sharky goes, fire follows: It destroyed his family’s trailer park on three separate occasions, forcing it to close down. It claimed the roller rink that bore witness to a disastrous first date. And it seems to ruin every drunk tank and jail cell that he ever sets foot in.
The law couldn’t change Sharky, but that didn’t deter Eden’s Gate. They invited him to join them and walk the path to a better life. When he found out that a better life involved torture and brainwashing, Sharky decided to fight the cult. And his fire followed.
“Learn More” was a link to the News article “The Hope County Resistance” posted on February 8th, 2018:
SHARKY BOSHAW - The Pyrotechnics Phenom - PYROMANIAC
Name: SHARKY BOSHAW

The law couldn’t change Sharky, but that didn’t deter Eden’s Gate. They invited him to join them and walk the path to a better life. When he found out that a better life involved torture and brainwashing, Sharky decided to fight the cult. And his fire followed. Oh yeah, and it just so happens that Sharky is Hurk's younger cousin. That might explain a few things.
His description then looked like this at least from March 27th, 2018, to February 7th, 2020:
The text was the same but this video appeared:
And here is what the European website said about the character they called The Mechanic instead of The Pyrotechnics Phenom:
SHARKY BOSHAW
THE MECHANIC

Additional note: Sharky is Hurk's younger cousin.
The embedded video was this one:
Commentary
Sharky confirms his real, full name is Charlemagne Victor Boshaw in the game (and the video), but since he doesn’t say “IV”, I don’t know if the number is still canon. On the other hand, the fact he’s a pyromaniac and doesn’t have, as he puts it himself, “the best relationship with law enforcement” doesn’t need to be proven anymore.
I couldn’t find anything about him setting the Moonflower Trailer Park on fire... but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened. His first date with Wendy Snorbush at the roller rink outside Fall’s End when he was 13 years old, however, is indeed the reason that place doesn’t exist anymore, as explained by Sharky in the game.
Since it’s also confirmed by multiple sources that he is Hurk’s younger cousin, it seems most of what the descriptions say is still true!

Part 17: Grace Armstrong
Recovered content
Grace, the second Gun for Hire to be introduced, had a description on the American website on (or even before) July 13th, 2017:
THE SNIPER
GRACE ARMSTRONG
Grace Armstrong is an expert sniper who served one tour in Afghanistan, and now works as a weapons instructor at her family’s shooting range in the Holland Valley. The Project at Eden’s Gate was a growing presence, but nothing she took seriously. Things came to a head when the shooting range was taken over by the Project and local police refused to help.
The archived page from February 9th, 2018, shows she then became The Marksman instead of The Sniper, and her description was modified as well:
THE MARKSMAN
GRACE ARMSTRONG
Grace Armstrong is an expert sniper who has won a bronze medal at the US Olympics, served multiple tours in Afghanistan, and returned home to work as a weapons instructor alongside her father at the family’s shooting range in the Holland Valley.
The Project at Edens Gate was a growing presence, but nothing she took seriously at first. However, things came to a head when the shooting range was violently taken over by The Project, while local police refused to help. The resulting chaos led to the death of Pops. At that moment, something snapped inside Grace. She buried her father, unpacked her sniper rifle, and went hunting for the members of Eden’s Gate.

“More Info” was a link to the Cosplay Reference Guide from June 2017:
GRACE ARMSTRONG
Meet Grace, a local weapons instructor, long-range sniper and Army Veteran. With nothing left to lose, she’s ready to take on Eden’s Gate.
And the video was this one:
Commentary
In her 2017 description, Grace had served one tour in Afghanistan; in 2018, she had served multiple. In the game, she says she has a bullet in her pocket (the last one in the gun of a Taliban who tried to kill her, to remind herself she is a survivor) and adds, “Souvenir of my tour in Afghanistan”, which to me implies she “only” went there once.
She confirms she won a bronze medal at the Olympics, and in-game billboards (visible in the videos) even say it was in 2004, but I didn’t find anything about Grace being a weapons instructor. It’s believable, but if the shooting range mentioned on the website is the one that ended up being cut from the game, then I don’t know if the information is still relevant.
Speaking of this, in 2017, it seems getting her shooting range back from the cult was the reason Grace decided to fight them. In 2018, like in Far Cry 5, it became the death of her father, which she explains happened only two weeks before the Deputy arrived when Eden’s Gate ambushed their car because, “for years, [her] pops antagonized them”.
Even though we know thanks to outdated dialog and this interview from June 2017 (around 11:15) that the reason she originally wanted revenge against Eden’s Gate was the death of her son (who apparently doesn’t exist in the final version of the story), the child isn’t mentioned anywhere on the websites.

Part 16: Nick Rye
Recovered content
As the first Gun for Hire to be revealed, Nick already had a description on the American website on July 13th, 2017:
THE PILOT
NICK RYE
Nick Rye broke away from a long line of Holland Valley air force veterans, his father included. Nick’s father pressured his son to enlist, but Nick refused, choosing to stay and take care of his wife. After years of building his crop dusting business, Eden’s Gate is aggressively trying to buy him out. All his life, Nick’s resisted the idea of going to war, and now war has come to him. It’s time to become a true American hero.
The embedded video was this one:
Like Mary May and Jerome, he was also mentioned in the “Meet Far Cry 5's Characters” News article from May 26th, 2017:
NICK RYE (GUN FOR HIRE)
Nick comes from a long line of military pilots, and his decision not to enlist created a deep rift between him and his father. Instead, Nick took up the family legacy in a different way, waging war against farm pests as a cropduster pilot and trying to start a family with his wife, Kim. Lately, though, Eden's Gate has been making his life difficult through its aggressive attempts to buy his cropdusting business, and as the situation in Hope County heats up, it seems war has finally come to Nick's doorstep. And this time, he's answering the call.
On or before February 9th, 2018, his description changed, and a link to “Learn More” about him appeared.
THE PILOT
NICK RYE
Nick Rye broke away from a long line of Holland Valley Air Force veterans. His grandfather flew in WWII and in ‘Nam, and told Nick that war is hell—no exceptions.
All his life, Nick has resisted the idea of going to war. But now war has come to him. It’s time for him to step up and become the true American hero he was destined to be.
The link took you to another News article posted on February 8th, 2018, and titled “The Hope County Resistance”. This is what it said about him:
NICK RYE - The King of the Skies - PILOT
Name: NICK RYE
Role: Gun for Hire
Bio: Nick Rye broke away from a long line of Holland Valley Air Force veterans. His grandfather flew in WWII and in ‘Nam, and told Nick that war is hell—no exceptions. Nick met his wife Kim online and was attracted by her stories of travelling the world. After 9/11, he was pressured by his father to enlist, but Nick refused, choosing to stay and take care of his wife, who had recently suffered a miscarriage. Nick never reconciled with his father.
Recently, John Seed—Eden’s Gate’s lawyer—has aggressively tried to buy Nick’s crop-dusting business. But Nick has refused to no end. And to complicate matters worse, after years of trying, Nick and Kim are expecting their first child any day now. All his life, Nick has resisted the idea of going to war. But now war has come to him. It’s time for him to step up and become the true American hero he was destined to be.
The appearance of his information box then changed on March 27th, 2018 (or earlier), and a new video appeared:
It was this trailer:

And “More Info” took you to the official and still available Cosplay Reference Guide posted in June 2017:
NICK RYE
Nick comes from a long line of military pilots, and his decision not to enlist created a deep rift between him and his father. Instead, Nick took up the family legacy in a different way, waging war against farm pests as a crop-duster pilot and trying to start a family with his wife, Kim.

And this time, he's answering the call.
Commentary
I don’t think anybody in Far Cry 5 says Nick and his father were on bad terms, but since no one clearly says they had a great relationship either, that could still be true. In any case, Nick says his parents both passed away at the Hope County Clinic. He has a line in the files about his father and grandfather fighting in wars, but I don’t know if it’s stil in the game.
In deleted dialog, Kim confirmed she met her husband online, that she used to travel the world a lot when she was young, and that Eden’s Gate pressured them to sell their property. However, nobody mentions a miscarriage or says that the couple had trouble conceiving. If the information provided in the News article is still accurate, when we meet them in Far Cry 5, Nick and Kim have been married and trying to have a baby for at least 17 years (since 2001)!

Part 15: Mary May Fairgrave
Recovered content
Mary May was one of the first Far Cry 5 characters to be revealed, along with Jerome and Nick. Here is what the American website said about her on July 13th, 2017:
THE BARKEEP
MARY MAY FAIRGRAVE
Born and raised in the Holland Valley, Mary May, along with her family, owned and operated the Spread Eagle, Hope County’s local watering hole. But after her parents died, it became tough to make ends meet – the bank foreclosed on the bar and sold it to Eden’s Gate for pennies. Her family’s legacy is now in the unfit hands of the cult. But she’ll no longer sit back and watch them drive it into the ground – it’s time to get the Eagle back and revive everything her parents spent their lives building.
The linked video was this one:
In the “Meet Far Cry 5's Characters” article from May 26th, 2017, this is what we could read:
MARY MAY FAIRGRAVE
A lifelong resident of Hope County, Mary May used to own and operate her family's saloon, The Spread Eagle. The bank foreclosed on the place after her parents died and money ran short, however, and Eden's Gate took it over for pennies on the dollar. Watching the cult swallow up her birthright is a bridge too far, and she's ready to take back the Eagle – and Hope County – by any means necessary.
On or before February 9th, 2018, the text in her information box was modified:
THE BARKEEP
MARY MAY FAIRGRAVE
Mary May recently lost the only people she ever really loved: her parents. Born and raised in the Holland Valley, her father drove a truck and her mother ran the family watering hole, The Spread Eagle. Life wasn’t always easy, but it was good. And no matter what, they had each other. When Mary’s parents died, the bank seized the property and Eden’s Gate bought it for pennies. Mary blames Eden’s Gate, and she’s not going to let it stand. The Spread Eagle is her HOME—her parents’ legacy. Not only is she going to get it back, she’s going to get revenge.
Then, the video was under the text instead of in the picture, and the page existed at least until February 7th, 2020:
And this is what the European website used to say about her:
MARY MAY FAIRGRAVE
THE BARKEEP
Born and raised in the Holland Valley, Mary May, along with her family, owned and operated the Spread Eagle, Hope County’s local watering hole.
But after her parents died, it became tough to make ends meet – the bank foreclosed on the bar and sold it to Eden’s Gate for pennies. Her family’s legacy is now in the unfit hands of the cult.
But she’ll no longer sit back and watch them drive it into the ground – it’s time to get the Eagle back and revive everything her parents spent their lives building.
The video was the same (but posted by Ubisoft UK):
Commentary
All descriptions say Eden’s Gate bought the Spread Eagle and legally owned it, but my understanding of the in-game situation was that Mary May still had the bar. While the cult reportedly bribed the county to make it “illegal to transport alcohol”, as she explains in Far Cry 5, I don’t think they managed to push her out of business or that the Spread Eagle was closed. At least, not before the Reaping.
The 2017 version of the description didn’t mention her father’s truck, the Widowmaker, even though it was already visible in the Announcement Trailer.
The brother she talks about in the very first trailer dedicated to her and who is an important character in the novel Far Cry: Absolution is never mentioned in the descriptions. That said, in Far Cry 5, she never says she had any siblings either, but she confirms her parents are dead. In the trailer, she explains she lost her mother first; in the game, her father was the first one to die.

Part 14: Jerome Jeffries
Recovered content
On the American website, Jerome was introduced on or before July 13th, 2017:
THE PASTOR
JEROME JEFFRIES
After serving in the Gulf War, Jerome returned to Montana to serve as the county’s Catholic parish priest. But with the influx of Project at Eden’s Gate, he lost his church and some blood along the way. Now, armed with the Good Book and a good gun, he’s ready to lead his congregation from the pulpit once again.
There was a link to this video:
In an article titled “Meet Far Cry 5's Characters” posted on May 26th, 2017, on the same website, this is what we could read about Jerome:
THE PASTOR, JEROME JEFFRIES
Jerome was Hope County's parish priest for more than 15 years, and was one of the first in the community to befriend Joseph Seed, the founder of The Project at Eden's Gate. Before long, Jerome's flock left to follow Joseph, and Jerome tried to take it in stride – until Eden's Gate locked down the county. Not only did Jerome lose his church, but he was beaten and left for dead in the woods. Jerome survived and vowed to protect the cult's intended victims, and as a Gulf War vet, he's got the training and experience to lead Hope County back to the light.
On or before February 9th, 2018, on the page dedicated to the characters, his description was modified:
THE PASTOR
JEROME JEFFRIES
Pastor Jerome Jeffries is God’s hammer. He served in the first Gulf War and saw combat up close, then returned to Montana and has been the region’s pastor for over 15 years. When Joseph Seed arrived 10 years ago, Pastor Jerome Jeffries was one of the first to befriend him.
It wasn’t long before many of the pastor’s congregation broke away and joined Joseph, calling him Father. Pastor Jerome Jeffries became uncomfortable with Joseph’s unorthodox worship, but conceded that people must choose their own path to God.
Then came the lockdown. The Pastor was beaten, tossed in the woods, and left to die. He clawed his way back to life and headed back to Fall’s End to protect those in need with the Good Book in one hand and a gun in the other.
And on March 27th, 2018, while the text and the linked video remained the same, the presentation slightly changed:
On the European website, from March 10th, 2018 (or earlier), to at least February 7th, 2020, he was described as follows:
JEROME JEFFRIES
THE PASTOR
After serving in the Gulf War, Jerome returned to Montana to serve as the county’s Catholic parish priest.
But with the influx of Project at Eden’s Gate, he lost his church and some blood along the way.
Now, armed with the Good Book and a good gun, he’s ready to lead his congregation from the pulpit once again.
The video was the same as the American one, but uploaded on the Ubisoft UK YouTube channel:
Commentary
Jerome does say he once was “a pawn in an oil war” in Far Cry 5, and Mary May, that “he fought in Iraq one or two”, so the part about him serving in the first Gulf War (like Jacob) seems canon. Because of the (cut) description of the Lamb of God Church, I assumed he was Lutheran and not Catholic, so either I’m wrong or they changed their mind and that explains why the word “Catholic” then disappeared from the description.
He also talks about having been kidnapped by John, who managed to make him say things he’s apparently ashamed he said, then “beaten, tossed in the woods, and left to die”, after which he considered leaving but decided against it and to protect the people of Fall’s End instead when he found a copy of the Bible. Although that dialog is still in the game, it always bothered me in terms of the timeline because Jerome says the incident happened before the Deputy arrived, but the Reaping (so the cult locking down Hope County and capturing Fall’s End) only began after Joseph’s failed arrest...
As for the part about him befriending Joseph, it’s never mentioned in the game, but we can imagine Jerome did welcome the Seed family when they arrived. However, it’s reminiscent of the live-action trailer The Baptism, in which we also get a glimpse of Joseph dragging an unconscious Jerome. Several elements of the video, the most important and mysterious one being the little girl, were never explained and/or are inconsistent with the current story of Far Cry 5... but maybe not with early versions of it.
I don’t know how canon this description still is, but I think it’s yet another proof that the story in general and the cult’s methods in particular went through several changes during the development of the game and that, at one point, the locked-down county and the constant terror caused by Eden’s Gate were not new; they had been going on for weeks, maybe months or even years before the Deputy’s arrival, and Jerome had been fighting against them the whole time.

Part 13: John Seed
Recovered content
On or before July 13th, 2017, a description for John appeared on the American website:
THE INQUISITOR
JOHN SEED
John’s doctrine is “The Power of Yes.” As the reaper for Eden’s Gate, John will use intimidation, faith and violence to secure resources vital to the Cult’s survival—whether it’s home or human. And anyone who tries to interfere with The Project will face a merciless death… Unless of course, John has another use for them.
The next time the page was archived, on February 9th, 2018, although the rest of the text remained the same, John’s title was changed and became THE BAPTIST instead of THE INQUISITOR.
On or before March 27th, 2018, a Cult Vignette trailer, the one dedicated to John, was added.
It’s this video:
The page existed and looked like this at least until February 7th, 2020.
On the European website, only about one-third of the description was used (and the word “human” became “a person”), but his title was always The Inquisitor. In the game, it’s only The Baptist.
Commentary
There it is: John’s title changing from The Inquisitor to The Baptist before our eyes! The description still seems accurate, and my guess is that the “other use” he has for people who try to interfere with the Reaping (and who don’t get killed) is sending them to the other Heralds. As a Resistance fighter in Far Cry 5 says, “Whoever John doesn't keep, he sends to Jacob. Or Faith”. A cultist in John’s Gate also explains, about people who said “no” to him, that “in his infinite mercy, he’s decided to send them east. They’ll walk the path and become Angels.”

Part 12: Jacob Seed
Recovered content
Here is what the American website said about Jacob, from at least July 13th, 2017, to February 7th, 2020:
THE SOLDIER
JACOB SEED
“Preparedness through pain.” This is Jacob’s mantra. As the Cult’s recruiter and former Army marksman, big brother Seed’s main duty is protecting the Project at Eden’s Gate.
On or before March 27th, 2018, a video was added. The text didn’t change.
Here is the video:
The first two sentences of the description were not on the European website, but the rest was identical.
Commentary
I probably would have said Jacob’s mantra either was “Sacrifice the weak” or “Cull the herd” instead, but “Prepareness through pain” works too. I don’t remember the fact he was a marksman when he was in the Army is explicitly mentioned in the game or even in The Book of Joseph, but considering his weapon of choice is a sniper rifle, that makes sense to me!

Part 11: Faith Seed
Recovered content
This was Faith’s description on the American website, added on or before July 13th, 2017:
THE SIREN
FAITH SEED
Once you fall under Faith’s spell, you’re a goner. As Joseph’s voice, Faith acts as a divine instrument of chaos to keep the congregation in a state of bliss.
On or before March 27th, 2018, the text remained the same, but a video was included.
This is the video:
The last time this page was archived was on February 7th, 2020.
Her description was identical on the European website.
Commentary
There isn’t much to say about the (short) description except that everything is still true. Watching the Cult Vignette video is almost more informative than reading the text...
I think “divine instrument of chaos” sounds great, though!

Part 10: Joseph Seed
Recovered content
At first (archive from July 13th, 2017), Joseph didn’t have a description on the American website. He was just called The Father.
THE FATHER
JOSEPH SEED
Check back soon to learn more about The Father.
On or before February 9th, 2018, the website changed and more information was added about him:
FATHER
Joseph has been spoken to by God who has tasked him with saving as many souls as he can from the end of the world. But rather than choosing to harvest these souls through peace, The Father chose the most vicious forms of manipulation possible.
Backed by his siblings, The Heralds, and an army of fanatics, The Father is quickly cultivating lost souls and preparing them for The Collapse. And leaving a lot of blood and bodies in his wake.
The video was the Story Trailer:
Further down on the page, there was another information box dedicated to Joseph:
LEADER OF THE PROJECT AT EDEN’S GATE
JOSEPH SEED
Joseph came from a small town in the deep south of Georgia. His life was listless until one morning when he heard a Voice whisper to him, telling him that the world was headed for a Great Collapse. The voice gave Joseph a single directive: “Save as many as you can. Whether they wish to be saved or not.” Joseph welcomed the poor, the disenfranchised, the wayward souls who had been left behind by society and formed The Project at Eden’s Gate and after a time, migrated from the south to Hope County to create their “New Eden”. Joseph is driven only by The Voice and the knowledge that he alone is humanity’s savior.
Finally, on or before March 27th, 2018, a trailer about him was added.
Here is the video in question:
The page existed at least until February 7th, 2020.
On the European website, there was no description or biography, only a quote: “I am your Father. And you are my Children.”
Commentary
We saw (in previous posts) that the Father used to be described as a “maniacal leader” who was “merciless and manipulative” in 2017. In 2018, the Voice, Its message, and Joseph’s commitment to It were finally mentioned, turning the predator who would terrorize and abuse everyone he apparently was in an early version of the story into the character he became in Far Cry 5: a man who believes he is on a mission and will stop at nothing to accomplish it. That doesn’t change or excuse the fact that Eden’s Gate’s methods are more than questionable, and the website still rightly says the harvesting of souls (so the Reaping) is a “vicious”, bloody, and not at all peaceful process, but at least their motivations are now clearly explained. In my opinion, aside from making him more human, mentioning his absolute certainty that he is on the right path also makes him seem even more dangerous as an antagonist. Over time, Joseph became a more compelling character, and I like that the archives of the website highlight this evolution.

Part 9: Toys (Europe)
Recovered content
On the European website, the Toys were on the Firearms page, under the section about the Resistance. It was first archived on March 10th, 2018, and last archived on February 7th, 2020.
This was the introduction:
TOYS
Along with loads of classic guns and cars, Far Cry 5® features many new exotic weapons and vehicles to tear around Hope County.
Even though the page said there would be “more to come”, it seems there were always the same 9 weapons and 8 vehicles on the site.
Here are the weapons:
BASEBALL BAT – M1911 PISTOL – AR-C
DYNAMITE – GRENADE – COMPOUND BOW
ROCK – MP40 – MBP .50
And here are the vehicles:
18-WHEELER WIDOWMAKER – COUPE – CULT PICKUP
TRACTOR – 4-DOOR PICK-UP TRUCK
RYE & SONS’ HYDROPLANE – BUGGY – HELICOPTER
Commentary
Compared to the American website, the D2 Shotgun is missing from the Weapons section. As for the Vehicles, they are all the same but some names were changed: the “May Family 'Widowmaker' Semi” became “18-Wheeler Widowmaker” and the “TC6 M-Duty Truck” is now a “4-Door Pick-Up Truck”.
Under the cut are all the available source files, saved directly from the website, of the images you see in the screenshots:
I can only upload 30 images per post and the pictures of the Toys are the same as the ones on the American website (but smaller) so I will only post these:

Part 8: Toys - Vehicles (America)
Recovered content
In addition to the weapons, the Toys section introduced a few vehicles on the American website. On the first version of the page (archived on July 13th, 2017), there were these three:
COUPE
"Drive it like you stole it"
You can't win every battle. And when it's getaway time this classic muscle car is perfect for when the going gets tough.
TRACTOR
"Made in the U.S.A."
Whatever type of manure you're hauling—be it cult or cow—never sacrifice power and reliability.
CULT PICKUP
"Built Cult Tough"
Built cult tough, this once innocent vehicle now converted cultist is an image of terror on the roads of Hope County.
When the page was moved and modified, on or before March 27th, 2018, this appeared between the now-independent Weapons and Vehicles sections:
THE RESISTANCE NEEDS YOU
How will you take down the cult? Will you leverage the fangs, or team up with a fellow resister to end their stay? Start planning your strategy to remove Eden’s Gate from Hope County today.
And five new vehicles appeared:
BUGGY
"If by Land…"
This suped-up buggy will handle just about any terrain as you rally your way through Hope County.
HELICOPTER
"Air Assault"
Sometimes you need a better vantage point—how’s 5,000 feet above the action sound?
RYE & SONS’ HYDROPLANE
"Death From Above"
Need air support? This crop-plane turned death-machine will leave cultists wallowing in your wake.
TC6 M-DUTY TRUCK
"Best in Class"
Jump in the cab and rev your engine—this durable and dependable American-made pickup is designed to get you out of jams just as fast as you get yourself in them.
MAY FAMILY “WIDOWMAKER” SEMI
"Tons of Fury"
With a whole lot of ponies under the hood, this 18-wheeler brings the oomph when the oomph needs to be brung.
The page existed at least until May 18th, 2019.
Commentary
It’s interesting that the Widowmaker is described as the truck of the “May family”. It belonged to Mary May Fairgrave’s father, so either May originally was her last name, or it’s a mistake. And even though the game reveals Nick’s plane has a name, Carmina, the site doesn’t mention it.

Part 7: Toys - Weapons (America)
Recovered content
On July 13th, 2017, a few weapons were introduced on the American website:
BASEBALL BAT
"American Grown Pine"
Good for: Getting up close and personal
When Eden’s Gate throws you a curveball, be ready to knock it, and a few enemies, out of the park.
AR-C
"Proven In Combat"
Good for: Getting the job done
It's not pretty, not a collector's item, and is hardly a family heirloom. But when the tough get going the AR-C gets to mowing.
DYNAMITE
"Boom"
Good for: Demolition work
Clear a path through anything in your way... vehicles, buildings, or cultists.
M1911 PISTOL
"Standard Issue"
Good for: Taking care of business
Happiness is a slick 1911, loads of ammo, and plenty to shoot. Become one with the gun and enjoy the great design that has fought the good fight for freedom for more than a century. Old but reliable, the 1911 is man’s other best friend.
SLEDGEHAMMER
"American Steel"
Good for: Smash
Watch where you are swinging this thing, unless you’re aiming for The Father. Designed to smash through anything in its way, your sledge will be put to good use against the cult.
D2 SHOTGUN
"Stopping Power"
Good for: A hole in one
When you must inflict as much damage as possible unto your foe in close combat, the best remedy is to put a massive hole in their abdomen. Accept no substitutes.
Later, on or before March 27h, 2018, the Toys section was moved to its own page and introduced by this:
GAME INFO
You’ll have access to weapons and accessories throughout the game by meeting characters, building your resistance and progressing in the world. Additional customization options will give you the freedom to create weapons that fit your personality and playstyle.
In addition to the weapons that had already been introduced (minus the sledgehammer, which disappeared), these were added:
ROCK
"Made You Look"
Good for: Causing a Distraction
Throwing your enemy off their game hardly involves causing a scene—just toss a rock … or a few.
MP40
"Spray Lead"
Good for: Leveling the Field
No novice to short-range combat, this machine pistol has been tried and tested.
MBP .50
"Ol’ Faithful"
Good for: Getting Out of a Jam
This small piece of historical steel is ideal for popping off a few quick rounds without waking up too many neighbors.
GRENADE
"Fire in the Hole"
Good for: Flushing Out the Vermin
Got some cult members holed up? Just toss one of these in and watch them come running.
COMPOUND BOW
"Clean Kill"
Good for: Eagle-Eye Accuracy
Whatever game you’re hunting—be it cult or critter—accept only the highest standard among the most formidable sportsmen.
The page looked like this at least until May 18th, 2019.
Commentary
So we could have had a sledgehammer as a melee weapon in Far Cry 5! It still exists in the files, but it’s not available in the game (unless you have mods)...
