Molly comes back after Cognouza instead of Kingsley. Old feelings stir, new feelings are born, and polyam fluff between Caleb, Essek, and Molly ensues.

Reccer Says: A classic SWM fic, to me. It's all so sweet and lovely and I adore the way Essek and Molly's relationship develops. Essek apologizing to Caleb for developing feelings for Molly so fast compared to how long his feelings for Caleb took to develop is just. Imprinted on my brain. And there's so many good moments like that! Also the side of Trent intrigue that comes into play a bit later in the fic is a very fun addition, imo :3

Champion of Uk'otoa Fjord and Scourger Bren meet to hook up every so often. Fjord knows it's nothing real, nothing that could go anywhere, but when Bren teleports to his ship in the middle of the night he catches himself tempted to pretend anyway.

Reccer Says: A surprising amount of yearning for an evil-AU oneshot, and it's delicious. Fjord knows Bren is a Volstrucker and he still can't resist Bren's obvious moves to manipulate information out of him. Also, it's hot. That should probably go without saying but just in case.

the stranger who was your self by Demenior (60,045 words, Mature) Pairing: Fjord/Eadwulf Grieve/Jester Lavorre Warnings: None

Running away from the fallout of the end of the Volstrucker program (and maybe something Else), Eadwulf joins Fjord's crew, swearing fealty by rather dramatically kneeling before him on the dock and making Fjord very alarmed! He becomes the captain's bodyguard (and by extension, Jester's) and explorations of loyalty and power and, eventually sexy and fraught power dynamics ensue.

Reccer Says: Mostly alternates POV between Fjord and Eadwulf, but also some (very good!) Jester POV. Slow-burn between Eadwulf (aka the Captain's Hound) and the happy couple, plus Fjorester PDA that they think they're being subtle about (they are not). Also featuring Orly not being paid enough for this, despite being paid quite well. Came for the Eadwulf/Fjord power dynamics, stayed for the character studies and also for the crew (and for the power dynamics lbr). Now a series, there's also a threesome one-shot and Orly POV fic, with another installment apparently on the way!

Reccer Says: It's so hot. Like, insanely hot. Most of the action is between Widofjord and Shadowgast, but there's still moments of Shadowfjord and they're Very Good too. These three make Such a fun triad, especially in an evil AU. The dynamics, the push-and-pull, yes, the sex, all of it is so good. My Ao3 history says I've revisited it like ten times and I nearly got sucked into it for another read while writing this recc lmao

Idk if you’re familiar with the show the bodyguard (it’s a british crime drama w richard madden in the lead about a politician whose being threatened and his character has to protect her and they’re both opposites of each other but due to the high tensions and stress levels they grow closer and Things ™️ happen) but I’m thinking about something similar w ghost 👀 reader is a target who needs to be protected bc she’s idk a witness? A key player in a conspiracy, basically someone who is of value to the wrong people. At first ghost, her designated protector, and reader headbutt a lot bc she’s headstrong and thinks she knows it all and hates the forced arrangement bc she wants her autonomy back, and he is pissed she doesn’t seem to have a clue how serious the situation is and how she underestimates everything and overestimates herself. Cue to her almost getting caught by the enemy (and whyyy did my mind just made that up to be konig omg just imagine that behemoth of a man hunting you down making it his life’s mission to catch you no matter what 🥵😓 ) and getting hurt badly but being saved nonetheless and then all the feels and angst and pining come to a conclusion 😩🫶🏻🤍

i was wondering what your thoughts were on regulus black? because i think he's getting the same sort of royalty treatment as remus does by making him sort of-- er, perfect? i mean. i've seen so much recently of him basically saving the world single-handedly and i-- ugh. and james is always just there, like a useless idiot? it makes me irrationally angry, and this is coming from someone who enjoys jegulus quite a bit. my problem is that i don't know if this rejection i feel against those two comes from a place of genuine dislike of them or from a place of wishing sirius and james were not done so dirty.

i still basically stand by all of it, but adding onto the jegulus + sirius bits of it:

annoys tf outta me when regulus is turned into a victim and like sirius damned him to hell when he left . i have thoughts about the way both of them were treated (which,,,another time,,,this post is already getting too long lol) but i imagine the day sirius left to be a Good One for reg bc he thinks he’ll have his parents undivided attention now. i also think regulus is severely defanged in a lot of characterisations, as if he wasn’t a baby DE, as if he wasn’t a slytherin from the house of black, as if he wasn’t walmart sirius black. like man i’m almost offended on his behalf. i’m sure his shaking his lil fist up at us from wherever he is.

with jegulus…okay, i’ve only read a couple oneshots but that doesn’t mean i haven’t tried. i genuinely went thru so many fics trying to get something, anything to stick and i think the problem is me. fully. completely. without doubt. i just can’t deal with a situation where j&s aren’t each others no.1, or at the very least, equivalent to that. that’s where my issues w wolfstar started, same w this. jegulus also has the added horror of ‘james and reg sneaking behind sirius’ back’ which is just,,,,gosh,,,,i have So Many Thoughts ab that. all personal opinions, but still. they’re strong. it fucks me up just thinking about it. i also think the ship tries wayyyy too hard to fit the ‘best friend’s brother’ trope and ends up sacrificing characterisation for it. which,,,again,,,that’s fine but it’s all the ‘oh this is how it was!’ that gets to me. and then james :/// he gives off such weird energy lol. jegulus gives me drarry vibes, and james is treated almost exactly as harry is in a lot of those. reg also gets the saviour treatment, like draco, and both of their fuckery is toned down until they’re almost normal, like they never did any reprehensible shit. j&r, and d&h are placed on the same moral equivalence and it’s just a bit. hmm. okay. (my issue with this is how it leaks into the writing and suddenly i’m made to sympathise with draco bc harry slashed him w sectumsempra, but we conveniently forget he was gonna use an unforgivable, ykno?) so overall it just feels…pushing reg up and pulling james down to get them on equal footing. very similar to wolfstar lbr.

Life Update 😊

Lol I always say I'll do updates but I rarely do 😅 but I do have an update to share!!

I'm moving across the country to start a new job as editor at a new publisher!!! It's going to be a step up from my old job and I'll be editing a wider range of kids books, up to YA. I'm excited but nervous especially because I'll be living the true overworked editor life and reading constantly.

I don't want this to effect BMO (lbr I haven't been updating regularly 🤣) but I don't know how creatively exhausted I'll be, and if I'll be able to put the same energy/time into it. Fanfic has been a way for me to relax since covid, so I want it to stay the same.

Levihan is still my comfort, they rest deep within my bones, so dw I'm not going anywhere. 🥰 maybe I'll keep stretching my writing muscles and do more oneshots and shorter chapter fics???

Thanks to those who still read and support!! It means the world and honestly, writing and editing fanfic has helped me grow as an editor SO MUCH. Tsuna and Byakuran :)

Two of my favs. For Tsuna, I can toss him into so many AUs. Also he has a deadbeat dad but like I don't rly feel like he actually misses him or anything so no daddy issues for Tsuna, and lbr he's better off without Iemitsu around anyway. And I know Tsuna is the token sane one of the group but also he can go from cringing at violence to oneshotting a man into ash and dust so you can't rly say he isn't insane lmao.

As for Byakuran, I like him less than Tsuna but sometimes I get the urge to toss him into crossover AUs cuz like he could be so OP (he was OP in canon until they had to nuke him cuz otherwise the heroes wouldn't win lmao) and I like dropping that sort of character into other fandoms' shenanigans. For example imagine a Bleach AU where he's reborn as Ichigo, complete with the white hair and purple eyes, it wouldn't even be that far-fetched cuz the hair can just be a Quincy throwback (hi Ryuuken) and the eyes would give everyone a heart attack cuz they're basically the colour of the Hougyoku. (And now that I'm thinking about it, Gojou Satoru could also work, the blue eyes match even better, but I can't write Gojou since idk JJK so Byakuran would be easier.)

ANYWAY. Just saying. Also the amount of Fucking Trauma that canon never rly delved into with him but that I can dump on him is delicious cuz damn seeing all those parallel timelines would drive anyone insane.

17 - What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?

oh there's a MILLION lmaooo, at any given time i am ready and waiting to dump a hyperspecific AU on anyone who will ask, lbr. both reading and writing. a lot of the stuff i want is pretty specific tbh, and niche, and very few people are writing fic about my OTPs these days, haha. even the ones that do get occasional content, like rodimags, is generally not more that oneshots etc, so...

i think the nichest AU i would actually like to write (and which I considered for the big bang this year, even!) is probably the prowl/chromedome functionist universe-slash-role reversal AU. i have a lot of half-compiled Thoughts about that one, like genuinely a LOT, and it feels like something that could be a full story with a beginning middle and end, unlike a lot of my half-thought-of AUs. but i wanted to do taraprowl again this year. what can i say, lmao, i'm predictable!!! alternatively it would probably be just. the hf taraprowl au i rotate in my head constantly. but i probably am gonna do some pwp for that soon, i am TRYING, soooo. in terms of nichest AU i would like to READ. hm. i want someone ELSE to write the gothic horror tarantulas-springer-prowl-deadlock AU i brainstormed with nev and dez, haha. in large part because i would want to see someone with a clearer grasp on the genre stuff there do it; i really LIKE gothic literature, but it's not my strength or the type i am MOST familiar with, and it's hard to pastiche something like that unless you really intimately Get It, i think. but i wanna reeeead it. i want generally some kind of genre-pastiche stuff with taraprowl SO BAD lmao, i KNOW if i want taraprowl Anything i will probably just have to write it but. well. writing Hard :( i just wanna READ haha. oh welllll.

32 - What’s your ideal fic length to read?

probably stuff that's in the 15-50k range. i know that's kind of a broad range, but it sits in the segment of my brain that's just like, 'this is a sub-book commitment, but more than a ficlet/flash fiction', haha. i actually don't read that much fic overall is the thing! i am currently trying to read ~40 books this year, and a lot of my reading time goes towards working through those, lmao. plus i spend a decent amount of time reading non-fiction articles/chapters/etc. so i'm generally not going to commit to anything that's taking more than one sitting at the weekend to read max, and i top out around 50k for that. so the 'long short story' length is my sweet spot rn. i also enjoy shorter ficlets a lot and i will absolutely read a novel length fic if it grabs me, though!

(Ask game) 9 - What is your favorite dialogue you’ve written so far?

If I'm restricting myself to just founders stuff (and lbr I dont remember enough about older stuff to be able to quote it off the top of my head) it's probably this bit from this oneshot because the lines are so cold (imo).

"If you want it to stop --" Says Butsuma, forcing Tobirama's face to turn the other direction and digging the kunai in to the other side, a perfect match to the first cut "-- Then stop me. Get strong enough to stop me." But Hashirama can't stand up. There's no sudden burst of strength -- he used that up ages ago. All he can manage is to drag himself a few inches forward through the dirt, fingers just able to reach where a spot of blood (his brother's blood!) has been flung to the ground. "Please." His voice is hoarse, "Please, I understand. Please stop." The look Butsuma levels at him is cold, a frown that says he doesn't believe him. He tilts up Tobirama's head, cuts a final slash into his chin, before letting go. Standing up, stepping back, uncaring of the way his son has dropped to the ground like a puppet with it's strings cut. "Guard your heart or grow strong enough to keep it safe, Hashirama. Those are your options."

11- What scene are you most hyped for this chapter/fic?

For Hand over Hand Over Hand, there is a bullet on my outline labeled "Hikaku's very long and sexy day" which I think about often, and is basically: Hikaku doing what he signed up for to the extreme, and going from Tobirama, to Madara, and back to Tobirama all in a row.

For another fic... the whole second arc of Trust in Reverse, which is a fic where Tobirama and Izuna were forced to marry, with the expectation that it would fail. The arc is all courtly drama and the two of them begrudgingly working together to figure out why it all happened in the first place (and learning to trust each other along the way :)) Not a scene exactly, but most of that fic is in the outline phase.

Brothers in Bond

Before he could stew on that for too long, the door pulled open with a creak that was deafening in the relative silence of the room. Izuna scowled reflexively, unused to having to squint into the light -- not that it mattered. Whoever this was, they were wearing the same nondescript grey uniform and mask as the shinobi who had captured them in the first place. Two more, dressed the same, slipped in to flank door even as it was pulled closed and latched from the outside. The chain quietly scraped on the stone floor as Tobirama shifted his position to better study the new arrivals. Tight security, Izuna thought with a mental sigh, and shitty interrogation tactics.

Trust in Reverse

There is no greeting, but instead one handed gesture at the papers on the table. "Infrastructure plans." He explains, voice so flat that Izuna can't tell if he thinks if this is serious or all a ridiculous farce. "Utilities. We're inevitably going to have to share, since we're living so close, and moving forward without input from both sides is asking for trouble at this stage." No, he must think it's all bullshit if he's asking for Izuna's opinion on -- he glances down -- plumbing. He's not educated on sewer systems, aside from the one mission he'd taken to the capital that had required him to crawl through them for several hours. This is some kind of trap -- has to be.

Wood Tar, Charcoal, Ginger, and Honey

Tobirama doesn't show a hint of fear at a compound full of active sharingan tracking his movements, nor so much as react when he's searched for weapons. He easily hands over the pack of medical supplies he's brought, only raising an eyebrow at the challenging look that Hikaku gives him when a pack of senbon is pulled from an inside pocket. "You're free to have your own healers examine the contents, it all has medicinal use." He says evenly,the way he folds his arms betraying nothing but annoyance, "And I'm unlikely to need any of it right away." "Take it." Madara grunts with a wave of his hand, already gesturing for Tobirama to follow him. He doesn't have time for this, and Izuna certainly doesn't, either.

In the Corner of Another Room

Izuna can admit to enjoying a little luxury from time to time, but he's still a shinobi born and raised. He can pass as an air-brained nobleman when he has to, and even enjoy it, but excess still makes his skin crawl when he thinks about it too hard. The inn and onsen high up in the mountains is lovely, truly, but the price tag to stay there is most certainly not. Mission success will make this more than worth it, but his nagging guilt at the cost combined with the constant vigilance makes him unable to really sit back an enjoy it all. He could -- his mark isn't due to arrive for another few days, yet -- but Izuna was trained better than that.

Heart of Flowers

Madara slips into his office without knocking. It had taken him a while to figure it out, but Tobirama doesn't actually chew out everyone who comes in unannounced, just those who insisted on loudly interrupting his work. Madara would never pretend that he hadn't before, or that he never would again, but the village had helped him start to be patient in ways he'd never had to be before. He is, in fact, capable of not tearing out Tobirama's throat. These days he doesn't even want to, most of the time.

Fic Trio (Specifically, Ambitious Uses for Hands and Tongues)

His entire existence has whittled down to to the agonizing white-hot pulse of not-quite pain. At some point -- Izuna doesn't know when, he was already starting to lose time even when he was conscious -- the feeling spread, changing from something sharp into a full body prickly-numbness that made it impossible to think or to keep his eyes open. He'd always thought it'd be cold, but he feels warm, almost pleasantly so, except for the uncomfortable points of heat that are pressing into his side. Fingertips, he manages to dredge up after what might have been an age or might only have been moments. Who's touching me? And why doesn't it hurt?

Hand Over Hand Over Hand

He raps on the door anyway, and hefts the bottle he's brought along when it opens and Izuna appears in the crack, squinting meaningfully. He lights up at the sight of it -- it's umeshu, from the same brewer that Tajima used to buy from when he went into court; the cheaper stuff he drank himself, not the fancy gifts he presented the daimyo, and by extension, the stuff he hid under the floorboards that Izuna and Madara got drunk on for the first time. Madara got sick, Tajima forced him to train through it as punishment, and he's all but forbidden plum wine from the house ever since, but Hikaku knows Izuna still has a fondness for the stuff. He'd been planning to give it as a birthday gift, but he hadn't anticipated a need to apologize for all but supplanting Izuna from his previous life at the time, either. Nor did he think he'd be trying to learn about the man who was his rival and worst enemy.

What if Hashirama was Evil

Only when Madara's shadow falls across him does he look up, but his red eyes are glazed and uncomprehending, and his head lolls back to its awkward resting angle after only a moment, too tired or too uncaring to struggle. Madara looks him over more closely. He looks dirty and scuffed up like he's been in a fight, though all of the minor wounds have already stopped bleeding. He hasn't even been properly stripped of weapons, just stopped from moving by the wood wrapping his wrists together and his arms behind his back. Madara grimaces but kneels down and starts going through pockets. Much as he hates the idea of doing what's so obviously been planned for him to do, the fact of the matter is that he's got no information, and Tobirama almost certainly does.
