what if when jason woke up on the bus with piper and leo the only memory he had was the name nico di angelo?
The first and second part of this post rewriting The Lost Hero, Son of Neptune, Mark of Athena and House of Hades are in this link <3
Making BoO in a new post bc that one was already a bit long. So shall we finally finish this rewriting HoH with BoO? Walk with me...
Nico has gone with Reyna and Coach Hedge to take the Athena Parthenos, and Jason is on the ship with the others nearing the end of the mission.
For jasico shippers BoO already starts with the iconic "gods...nico" which is already so gay that I don't even need to change it.
The book starts with Jason’s POV extremely worried about Nico and we're going to pretend here that his arc with his mother ended in a better way. Maybe with Jason pretending to accept her proposal and staying in the Odysseus' Palace with his mother to see what else he can find out about Gaia's plans. Piper and Annabeth manage to get away and get to the ship. The rest of the crew gets a little pissed at Jason and wants to leave, but Piper and Leo explain to everyone that they have to stay and wait, that Jason must have a plan and must not have really allied with Gaia. So Jason gets all the information they need and thinks he's gonna have to fly or something like that until he finds the ship because he thinks they must have gone and left him behind (the abandonment complex this boy has...) and then Jason manages to scape, but Michael Varus, Beryl and other soldiers intercept him, Jason denies his mother that same way but makes a whole speech, he takes the stab but manages to fly, almost falling, and get out of there. He thinks he won't be able to fly for much longer to find the Argo II and will fall into the sea and die. At that moment he sees the ship in the distance and thinks that it's the first time that people have not given up on him and abandoned him. When he arrives everyone helps him and Jason, almost fainting, says he doesn't believe they stayed there at the risk of being attacked and Hazel, who doubted Jason the most, says that of course they did because they are like a family now and you cant leave your family behind.
Meanwhile, Nico is starting to feel weak from the shadow travel. Little by little he gets closer to Reyna and trusts her more. Nico remembers how Jason always said that when Nico felt ready to open up to friendships he would see how many people would like to get to know him better, not just Jason and Hazel. Nico found it hard to believe because he'd had a small crush on Percy when he was younger, which he saw would come to nothing when he found out Percy liked Annabeth, and for a long time Nico thought he wasn't worthy of love at all and felt guilty about his feelings for boys. His mother died, his sister too, his first crush not only didn't feel the same way, but he often actually seemed to hate Nico… and then when Nico allowed himself to start believing he could be loved by Hazel and Jason, if he actually felt the same for Nico—Jason was taken and placed as someone else's boyfriend. But little by little Nico begins to see that Reyna, like his sisters and Jason, doesn't expect anything from him. She doesn't want anything from him, except his friendship.
Gradually Nico talks a little with Reyna about Jason, but he talks about it like they're just friends and he's worried about Jason because he's feeling something strange. Reyna obviously realizes that it's not just friendship, as she always suspected, and tells Nico to try to get in touch with Jason. So Nico manipulates his dreams to get into Jason's. It's difficult because Jason doesn't have the preparation or powers to control his own dreams. But when entering Jason's dreams, Nico can feel that he is dying. Nico wakes up startled but before he can tell Reyna that they need to IM the Argo II— they are attacked.
Jason feels something strange when he wakes up, almost as if he's had a vivid dream—but stranger. He wakes up hearing Nico's voice, but he's not there. Feeling his presence and hearing his footsteps... but Nico must already be on the other side of the continent about to make the jump across the Atlantic. Jason feels the ship rocking a lot and goes to the deck. He offers to go down with Percy and that's when Jason gets better and makes the promise of the shrines to the gods.
Nico is in Portugal, very weak and almost dying, when he sees his father and Hades says the "I want you to be an exception" (I have a post about this line here 🥺) and Nico decides to IM Jason.
He's in the infirmary tending to some injuries with Piper when Nico appears nearby. Piper is startled and at least three light bulbs explode when Jason sees Nico there.
"Sorry I didn't mean to appear out of the blue but this thing doesn't have a ringtone or anything." Nico is a little embarrassed because Jason had his shirt up for Piper to bandage his abdomen. Jason drops his shirt in the same second.
"No, dont worry about it." He gets closer to the IM. "Did something happen? Are you okay? Reyna? Coach?"
Nico gives a small smile because that is how Jason is. He is the one in the infirmary tending to injuries, and Nico felt he was on the verge of death— but there he is worried about others.
"We are all fine."
"You don't look fine." Nico really is very thin, sunken-eyed and clearly weak.
"Look who's talking. I felt a strange thing as if you were dying, but I guess at least that didn't happen, right?"
Jason smiles. "No. I'm very much alive."
"That's great." Nico wants to look at him whole, ask more, tell about his conversation with his father, tell him about getting closer to Reyna. Tell Jason how every time he walks into the void filled with emptiness and he has to focus on the next destination, his mind betrays him and thinks about Jason and he almost ends up on the Argo II again with Reyna, Hedge and the Athena Parthenos in Jason's room. And Jason looks at him like he also has a million things to say.
Piper clears her throat and they both snap out of their trance and look at her. "I think your bandage is fine for now, Jason." She gathers a few things and throws them away. "I'll give you a second. Nico, please say hi to Reyna for me." And she leaves.
Jason turns back to Nico rather embarrassed.
"I've been thinking—"
"I wanted to know if—"
They speak at the same time.
Jason chuckles. "You go first."
Nico nods and tries to muster up the courage but can't look at Jason, so he looks down. "I've been thinking about not going to the Underworld if this war ends well for us."
"Really?!" Nico looks up and Jason has wide eyes and a bright smile.
"Really." Nico tries not to smile too, and he doesn't know why it's so hard to control his smile every time he's with Jason even if it's an IM being countries away from each other. But whenever he sees him, the skeleton butterflies in Nico's stomach want to come back to life. It's really irritating.
"And what made you change your mind?" Jason asks and Nico notice he's trying his best to control his smile. "If I may ask."
Nico shakes his head and looks away for a second to control his involuntary blushing. "Many things." Nico turns back to Jason. "Let's say one day a very annoyingly smart boy told me that it's possible to choose your family and have people in your life who care about you and love you for who you are and who make you want to choose to live and fight for those people. And I've been starting to think this might be true."
Jason's eyes that had previously been a little gray from the possible pain of his injuries, gleamed again as Nico saw it happen every time they were together. "I'm glad to hear that. I wonder if this smart boy is among those people."
Nico rolls his eyes but a small smile tugs at the tip of his lips. "Annoyingly smart, don't forget."
Jason nods, feigning seriousness. "Of course."
Nico shakes his head and hears Reyna calling to him in the distance. He looks for where her voice is coming from and sees that Reyna and Hedge are running to him.
"Holy crap." Nico says scared.
"Nico what..." Jason asks worriedly.
Nico doesn't even turn to him. "I have to go." Nico runs his hand over the message and it disappears.
At that moment they are attacked by the werewolves and Nico gets seriously injured. They make the next jump to escape and meet with the Hunters and Amazons (which means, Thalia). We're in Reyna's POV so she's shocked that Thalia is Jason's sister and wonders how Nico will react. Nico wakes up with the note that the hunters took Reyna and he gets mad. He goes out and buys the classic palm tree shirt and then meets Thalia briefly. She says that Reyna didn't know much about how Jason is but as Nico stayed longer on the ship she asks him if he doesn't know anything else, Nico is kind of embarrassed and Thalia doesn't understand why, so he just says that Jason was injured but that he seems to be recovering well. Nico tells Thalia about his theory about the end of the prophecy and Thalia gets serious and thoughtful, and says she hopes Nico is wrong, but they both know he's not.
With great difficulty they make the next jump and Nico soon finds Bryce.
On Jason's side and the Argo II, they are sure they need the doctor's cure or Jason or Leo will die at the end of the prophecy. Jason thinks it's okay if he has to die, as long as he at least gets to see Nico one last time, if only to tell him not to give up on his life and not go to the Underworld.
After killing Bryce in the most sinister way possible, Nico passes out and is unconscious for days. When he wakes up he tells Reyna and Hedge everything. Everything about him, about Jason... He can't look at them and really want to cry.
"It would be weird being two guys together. But it makes it even worse that Jason is…well, Jason, and I am me."
"Kid, I don't understand." The coach says. "You demigods complicate things too much. What would be wrong with two men together? It's natural for me as men and women, satyrs and nymphs…" Nico looks at them a little confused but hopeful. Reyna nods with a smile and Nico with teary eyes smiles weakly. "And another thing, the Grace boy is quite annoying but he's a good figther, you're the same. If he likes you and you like him, I don't know what could stop you." Nico and Reyna laugh a little.
Coach says he'll get things ready for them to go and Reyna stays behind to talk to Nico.
Nico looks at her embarrassed. "I know you liked him, I don't want to..."
Reyna holds up a hand, silencing Nico. "Nico I didn't like Jason— I liked the idea of him. The son of Jupiter, praetor by my side, very powerful demigod and a soldier like no other. I thought I needed to be with a boy like that, and I don't know, maybe I was wrong about that in many ways." Nico frowns in confusion and Reyna smiles. "You trusted me, and I'm grateful for that. After this madness is over and I can think about myself instead of a war, maybe I can understand what it was I had for Percy and Jason, and why that happened. Then I'll talk to you about it. But just know that you and Jason are two of the demigods who most deserve a happy life after all you've been through." She places her hand on Nico's shoulder and he was still processing the 'Percy' part of what she said. "We can die at any moment, you more than anyone knows that— Will you really let fear stop you from being happy and making him happy?"
Back to Jason.
They got the doctor's cure and are reaching Athens. Jason and Hazel tried to contact Nico again but couldn't, and the two are anxious and wondering if Nico died in that attack. Hazel says he's not dead, that she would know if he was, but they are still afraid.
Hazel and Jason are on the deck waiting for the others to finish putting on their armor. They are looking at the blue sea and Athens approaching at every second.
"I wish I had spoken to him one more time." Hazel says and Jason looks at her. "In case we don't make it out of here."
"We're going to get out of here. This is just the beginning of the battle, we still have Gaia ahead of us." Hazel nods and looks at him very seriously.
"I know you guys don't talk about it with others. But back at Camp Jupiter I knew you guys spent all day together while I did my training." Jason’s eyes wide a little. "Every night I saw Nico arrive at the barracks with a silly smile on his face that didn't match his sadness and distance of the rest of the time. He didn't even have to tell me much other than silence when I asked if he liked you for me to understand everything."
Jason couldn't help but smile a little. "I've been remembering more and more things. Like coming home with a silly smile too." Hazel chuckles but Jason's smile fades little.
"What is it?"
Jason shakes his head. "I don't know. It's weird that I didn't have my memories altered to think that all of this happened between Piper and I, like it was for her. And I feel guilty about that. I know it's crazy—"
"Jason you shouldn't feel guilty about losing your memories but not having false memories of her. It was bad enough for you to forget your life and who you are. It's Juno's fault that this happened to you guys, not yours."
"I know, it's just..." Jason lets out a weary breath and looks back at Piper helping Annabeth with her armor. "I know it was hard for her, and I can't help but blame myself. And at the same time I don't understand why Juno tortured her with these false memories and left Nico's name in my head and didn't put Piper in my memories of him." He looks at Hazel who seems to be paying close attention to the matter.
"Mist is complicated Jason. Maybe even being a goddess Juno didn't have full mastery of it."
Jason nods thoughtfully and looks away and now Athens is even closer. Jason’s heart races. "Hazel, please promise me something."
She nods. "Sure, what is it?"
Jason looks at her. "Maybe at the end of the mission I will die—" Hazel opens her mouth to speak but Jason continues. "I know we have the cure, but I've been thinking... We only have one cure, what if Leo and I die? I'd rather you use the cure on him." Hazel frowns. "And if that happens, I just want you to please promise me that you'll be with Nico, that even though he's on one side of the country at Camp Half-Blood and you're on the other at Camp Jupiter, that you'll be family to each other, and that he won't be alone."
Hazel smiles and takes his hands. "Nico may be on the other side of the planet and I will never abandon him. And you will not die, you'll also be with him and we'll all be a family." Jason looks down feeling his chest tighten. Nico could be in danger right now, maybe the seven won't even make it back to Camp Half-Blood no matter how much Jason tells Hazel they are. Maybe when Jason arrives Nico will be dead, maybe Jason will die in the end... it's a one in a million chance that this will have a happy ending.
Nico arrives at the camp and finds Will, Lou and Cecil. They go together to try to infiltrate the Roman army. And Nico realizes how little are their chances to survive this war.
The Argo II reach Athens and they fight the Giants alongside the gods. In the end Zeus blames Hera and Apollo, and Jason defends Apollo. They are heading towards the ship but Jason stops for a second beside Hera while Leo and the others prepare the ship. Hera looks confused by Jason's approach, but happy that he wants to talk to her after all.
"Weird that you being the goddess of marriage broke so many hearts with this plan of yours." Hera's smile disappears instantly.
"Jason..."
"With all due respect my lady, but I don't want to hear any excuses. The only thing I want to know is why did you leave him in my head? Why did you leave Nico's name and his presence in the memories I'd forgotten?"
Hera looks at him confused. "Jason I didn’t let him in your head." She rolls her eyes and huffs. "My original idea was for you to have your memories altered for the Aphodite's daughter and for Percy to have his memories altered for the praetor at Camp Jupiter. It was my chance to ruin the happiness of the two demigods I detest the most, Annabeth Chase and Nico di Angelo. But... I was doing it all alone, hidden, and in such a hurry... So whatever it was, you two managed not to let your memories be altered and remembered them."
Jason was too stunned to notice Aphrodite nearby until she giggled and Hera turned to her. "'Whatever it was' of course. Meddle in these matters and hurt my daughter... You have a lot more to worry about now than with Zeus."
Jason feels the fight coming in the air and leaves to join the others with his head spinning.
It wasn't Hera, it was him. All this time Jason was feeling weak and  vulnerable without his memories, but he wasn't weak. Jason managed to dodge a goddess messing with his mind.
Everyone gathered on the deck with Leo yelling for them to hold on tight. Jason saw his dad give the ship a slap. But Jason’s mind and heart were racing faster than the Argo II flying across europe and the Atlantic.
The Argo II arrives at the camp. The battle is insane on the ground and Leo yells for everyone to leave while the ship is on fire, Jason doesn't want to leave him but Leo tells him to go with Piper. None of them are happy to leave Leo behind but Jason grabs Piper and flies off into battle.
Here I don't even need to change the canon because, again, it was already very gay. "Jason’s heart lifted when he saw Nico di Angelo on the front lines with the Greeks, slashing his way through a crowd of two-headed men."
Jason goes down with Piper and Reyna goes to them and when Piper goes out with Reyna, Nico sees Jason and the world feels like slow motion. Nico runs towards him killing monsters along the way in a matter of seconds. Jason's heart will come out of his mouth, he's sure of it. All around him the world is ending and he can't seem to get rid the hum of his pounding pulse in his ear. Nico comes to him and Jason opens his mouth to say something— but Nico kisses him. Jason feels the heat of battle all around him, but it's nothing compared to his body on fire. A very loud thunder rumbles through the sky as Jason pulls Nico close to kiss him back "To storm or fire, the world must fall" and that was the storm. It had to be, because Jason felt he could decimate the world if he felt Nico's lips on his a second longer or if he pulled away.
Nico pulls back a few inches, breathing hard and his face is grimy from the battle.
"You're wearing glasses." Is the first thing he says and it makes Jason smile like an idiot.
"Nice shirt." Jason says and Nico smiles wryly as Jason remembers he loves to see.
Before they can have a conversation, battle calls out to them and they are attacked.
They pull back fighting the monsters. "Where are the others?" Nico asks.
"Everyone's here, just Leo..." Jason swipes at a monster that turns to dust and looks away at the sky. The ship is falling like a fireball.
"Shit." Nico says. "He'll survive, but just in case— for Leo!"
"For Leo!" Jason says and they find themselves fighting back to back against Gaia's army (this art has my heart already). And Jason's brain can assimilate his fight reflexes and still feel his lips tingling and Nico's taste in his mouth. At the same time that he is worried for his life and worried about his friends, Jason feels that his body is going to explode with happiness. The insane mixture of complex and intense feelings mixing like cosmic dust in a nebula getting so absurdly dense that it needs to become a star.
"Nico!" They listen and turn around. Will from cabin 7 is coming over there. He says something to Nico that Jason can't hear but Nico looks worried.
Nico nods to Will and turns to Jason. "I have to go." Jason is confused but nods. Nico pulls Jason down by his shirt and presses their lips together hard and fast. "Don't die." He says simply and Jason can't come up with anything smart enough to answer other than a simple,
"Yes sir."
Nico must have thought Jason is silly as usual, because he smiled and ran off in his red palm tree shirt.
The rest of the battle takes place as in the book. Octavian dies, Leo "dies". After it ends they are talking and Hazel tells them about Leo's plan. And Nico stay with Hazel that night because she's feeling guilty.
The next morning Jason shows up at Nico's door with his glasses crooked and messy hair, and here Nico reaches out and fixes his glasses. It's Nico's POV and he notices that Jason is clearly embarrassed and not knowing what to do.
"Hazel is still sleeping, can we go for a walk?" Jason nods and they walk off together slowly.
Jason asks how Nico felt about Leo's death and Nico says he felt as if he had died, but that he's not sure now. He feels that Leo did take the cure. Jason is all happy and goes to hug Nico but stops in the middle of the movement.
"Sorry, I don't…" he blushes and lowers his arms.
Nico frowns. "'You don't'... what?"
Jason puts his hands in the pockets of his sweatpants. "I don't know if what happened yesterday in the battle was just because of the battle or if—"
Nico can't help but laugh a little. He looks around and there aren't many people around. It will be a while before Nico is ok with public displays of affection— other than in the middle of a battlefield, ofc.
He approaches and hugs Jason by the neck looking him in the eyes, and Jason's blue eyes, just like when Nico kissed him in the middle of the fight, now again have an intensity like lightning stirring inside his irises. Jason relaxes around Nico's arms in the same second. Nico opens his mouth to speak but hears Will calling him. He and Jason look and Will is close by with his hands on his hips.
"You can date later di Angelo. After crossing a continent and an ocean with a statue the size of a building you will stay in the infirmary at least for today." Nico huffs and rolls his eyes. "You can bring a companion." Will jokes and chuckles.
Jason pulls back a little and takes Nico's hand uncertainly, but Nico intertwines their fingers and Jason smiles a little. "I'll see if I'm needed around the Camp and talk to Chiron about quests to search for Leo, but I'll have lunch with you in the infirmary ok?" Nico nods, wanting to tell Will to get out of there because he wants to stay with Jason, help in the camp and look for Leo, he doesn't want to be stuck in an infirmary all day. Jason gives Nico a lingering kiss on the forehead that makes him close his eyes. Jason pulls back a little. "See you later." Nico nods a little lost and Jason gives one of the most charming smiles Nico has ever seen on any boy and walks away a little, but a simple kiss on the forehead caused Nico to be stuck on the ground and unable to move. Jason turns around walking backwards. "Just to know, how do you feel about surprises?"
"Public, no. Quests, no. Just you and me, yes."
Jason gives the same smile, nods and leaves. Nico stands there watching him walk away and feeling his heart melt to the floor like it's standing on quicksand.
"Hello? Do you want me to wait here all day while you daydream?" Will says reminding Nico that he was still there.
Well, Solace was annoying but maybe one more friend for Nico's friends list that now included Reyna, Hazel, Jason, maybe Percy and the others from the prophecy, wouldn't be that bad... Yeah, Nico was going to open up to accepting these people in his life. After all, he didn't regret opening up to Jason or Reyna.
Nico spends the morning and afternoon at the infirmary and Jason shows up with a chocolate brownie smuggled from the dining pavilion, and tells Nico that Chiron has approved that after the camp is fine, they all get together to make groups to search for Leo (as it should have been, honestly Riordan...). A nurse appears to bandage the werewolf injurie that Nico has and Jason sees it. Nico explains the story a little embarrassed, but Jason says.
"If you turned into half wolf then we would both be half wolves." Which makes Nico laugh, and everyone around looks at the son of Hades finding it strange to see him like that, but he ignores them.
Nico snaps his shirt collar back into place. "It's a very ugly scar."
Jason turns his head and shows where the bullet hit him. "I got this one."
Nico looks at him in disbelief and speaks quietly. "As if it doesn't make you even more cute."
Jason shakes his head, his ears a little red. "There are others, not so 'cute'." He gets more serious. "Inside and outside."
Nico understands immediately and his eyes water a little. "Inside and outside." He echoes.
Jason looks at him warily, knowing full well that Nico has literally been to hell and back, not to mention everything else. "They won't go away, never. But we can learn to live with them as best we can."
Nico nods and wipes his eyes quickly. "Do you think it's possible?"
Jason looks at him with affection and certainty. "I'm sure."
At night Jason shows up to pick up Nico with a mischievous smile.
"Should I be scared?" Nico asks walking beside Jason but doesn't have the courage to take his hand with so many people walking around the camp, and Jason notices and doesn't try anything.
"You'll like it, I'm sure."
They reach cabin 1 and go to the back, where there is no one around. Jason approaches and his eyes seem to glow in the dark, the air suddenly feels heavy for Nico with Jason's close proximity.
"May I?" Jason asks quietly and puts his hands close to Nico's waist but doesn't touch him. Nico nods, focused on the eyes next to him watching him as if they can see his soul. In the next second Nico feels Jason's hands gripping his waist and his feet floating off the floor. Nico for a second thinks it's in his head because that's how he feels, but then he notices they're actually flying slowly and he gasps and wraps his arms around Jason's neck and feels Jason chuckle. "I got you." Jason says and gives Nico a kiss on the head.
They reach the ceiling and Nico feels Jason release him carefully. "We're here." Nico let go of him and look around. On the roof of the cabin there is a blue towel, some candles and some bowls with food. In front of the towel is a telescope.
"What...?" Nico tries to say.
Jason takes his hand and begins to guide him to the towel. "Remember that at Camp Jupiter you said you liked to see the stars and I took you to the field of Mars at night to show off teaching you the names of stars and constellations?"
Nico chuckles. "I'm surprised you remember."
They stop in front of the telescope. "While we were building the ship I remembered that day, and it was that memory that made me think we were dating, because I got confused with what was a memory and what was my imagination." Nico looks at him confused and Jason blushes a little, and intertwines his fingers with Nico's. "That was the day I realized I like you. And I realized that because as much as i love to look at the starts, I wanted to spend the whole night looking at you." Jason gets closer and runs a finger caressing Nico's cheek near his eyes, making his breath quicken. "Because they are my favorite night sky." Jason kisses Nico's eye lightly and Nico's brain feels numb. Jason pulls back just a little and with difficulty Nico opens his eyes and tries to focus again. “That's why I got this telescope for you. I wasn't sure who you were, or if I'd ever meet you again, if we were really together, or if you felt the same way about me. But I knew I wanted to show you all the stars you wanted to see."
Nico couldn't wait any longer, and kissed Jason with the calm that their first kiss didn't have. The calm of knowing everything was fine now, and they could finally be each other's without fear, without rushing, without anything but them. But even calmly, with every second, every time Jason's tongue met his with the care of feeling each other like they needed to memorize every taste, or every time Nico sighed between the kiss or felt Jason's warm breath on his cheeks, or Jason's fingers roaming up his back, over his face, into his hair, and Nico pulling Jason closer by his shirt as if it were possible to be closer—Nico's heart raced and was filled with a certainty. And that certainty made him pull away for a second from Jason, just enough to look into his eyes.
"I love you." Nico said and Jason seemed lost, looking from one of Nico's eyes to the other as if to make sure this was real and not a made-up memory. Nico held tightly to the back of his head and looked sure at his favorite morning sky that always had a calm rain that could turn into an unsettling storm at any second. "I love you Jason Grace. And I'm not sure of anything else in the world like I'm sure I love you with every cell in my body."
And Nico saw around Jason's head little blue rays crackle like pure energy, and Jason was breathing hard and unevenly. "I love you." He said it with as much certainty as he could put into his voice. "And all I want is to be in your life in the way and for as long as you want me to."
Nico could have a goddess messing with his memories, go to Tartarus and back, or go through a thousand more wars if he had to, because those words would stay in his mind as a fresh memory and let him know that whatever happens and wherever he is— he has a home to return to, and now he was this home for Jason too.

Superstition
Episode Four has been talked about and Episode Five is being written still. You'll know when it all gets updated. I want at least two episodes down before I even put something out. I actually just want to finish it but heyyyyyyy, you're going too far now.
Riders of Abauruth Survey
This survey is so that I can get an idea of what people want to see return and what they may like to see change.
This rewrite was for two reasons.
1. To bring RoA into the Jiwenia universe and to do that things had to be changed. For example, the history. I just couldn't copy and paste and move it over, it wasn't going to work nor fit. At this moment I don't even know where it will fit in the timeline just yet. Probably a few decades after ToA but I'm not entirely sure, like I said.
2. To tell the rest of the story I did want to tell back then but didn't really get too. I already had a whole thing on why I canceled it so just go read that.
This is brainstorming stage. So once I shut it down I'll be going through it, figuring out what tons of folks want versus what they really do not and figuring out how to make it all work or if it even works with my vision.
Some quick out there facts that I know:
Allison won't be dying like in the original. Her death will be like everyone else's, based on the reader. Sorry but her name doesn't start with Ch so she won't be one of those "could be in, could be dead" characters.
Dragons will still be male. Only addition to the setup is there will be a green dragon.
Your character is not the prophesied hero they once were. Read the summary on the survey.
There are 7 LI's and some of them will be locked out depending on gender. Gender is important!
These characters are the same but their allegiances and motives have changed. Do not go into this thinking they are the exact same. This is not the same RoA.

Note
i was wondering if you ever finished that google doc about why toa should've been the second series, and hoo the third? it sounds very interesting
Oh jeez, thank you for reminding me of this because it is something I really want to talk about lol.
So basically, I bit off a bit more than I could chew with this project. I wanted to make a series of posts going over how I would change each book to make a trilogy with ToA in the middle and HoO at the end, and why I think it could be better. I didn’t think about how this involves basically rewriting ten books tho, so I kind of ran out of steam oof. HOWEVER, I’m still really passionate about this idea, and want to share my thoughts with y’all, so I have a question about what my next steps should be.
I am planning on writing an overview on why I’d switch the two series, with an outline of the major changes I’d make, and then depending on the response I get I could continue to make more posts going in depth on the individual books. But even this overview post is going to be really, really long, and I want to make it entertaining for everyone.
My two options are to just write it out as an essay, which I can probably get done in about a week, or to turn it into a video, which would probably be a lot more fun to watch, but would take a lot longer to create. Maybe about a month? I haven’t made a video like this in years so it might take a while. So I’m gonna make a poll for y’all to vote on which one you prefer!!! Or just to say that you don’t really care about the idea lol, that’s cool too.
Anyways, POLL TIME

Jason Grace Deserved Better
*This is just my opinion. I don’t care if you like TOA
Like most fans, I at first didn’t like Jason too much. Compared to most of the main characters, Jason seemed pretty bland. However, after rereading the books and analyzing Jason’s character, I realized how interesting he is. All his life, Jason has always been the “golden boy” leader type without really exploring himself. After the HOO series though, Jason started exploring more of himself beyond people’s expectations. When I learned about him appearing in the TOA series, I was expecting more exploration and growth for Jason, but it was ignored and he was killed off. This made me very upset.
Jason had a mission to commemorate every god (Greek or Roman) and live his own life. It would’ve been great representation for people who have trouble with their identity. If Rick wanted to add something tragic to Jason’s story then he could’ve done something else. Or he could’ve prolonged his death after doing at least a bit of Jason’s development.
With his relationship with Piper, I didn’t care much for the romance in HOO but felt it was getting better when they both agreed to restart their relationship in BOO. When I read that they broke up, I was upset because the reasoning contradicted what happened in BOO, and Rick didn’t show us (the readers) why it didn’t work out during that time skip. And Piper moving on so fast after Jason’s death left a bad taste in my mouth. It was shown before Jason’s death that the two still had feelings for each other after the breakup. The timeline from Jason’s death to the end of the TOA series was around 2-3 months, which seems a bit short for someone to move on after their first love died. Maybe Piper’s girlfriend is a rebound but I’m still meh with Piper moving on at that time. Also note that I’m not upset about Piper having a girlfriend. I’m a part of the community and am all in for representation.
Jason not reuniting with Leo was so bad. He deserved to see him again as much as Piper. Coach Hedge assuming Jason broke up with Piper and being mad at him was so disrespectful. A big part of Hedge is him caring about the Lost Hero trio and it was disregarded because of drama. I consider TOA worse than HOO and non-canon. Honestly, the series made me not care about the new releases for the series. I’m only interested in the Nico story because he’s at least well-written and justice for Bob.
I’m thinking of writing an essay on how I would rewrite Jason’s character and development but it would take a while and I don’t have the time.

1. if you could hit any character without repercussions, who would it be?
Tumblr media
Arthur. He looks like the kind of guy who has never once feared being punched in the face real hard and it shows. I don't even think anyone would stop me. Gunmar, too. Same reason.
9. do you like prequels?
I do. Especially when a series has a lot of old/older characters with their own histories and backstories. At least, when they actually answer questions instead of contradicting everything and making more.
12. if you could change one ending to a book/show/game/etc, what would you change about it?
Of the three main ToA series, I'd say 3Below. To me, at least, it really drops the ball toward the end, so I think it'd benefit the most from an ending rewrite. More focuses needed on the parents and the fact that they constantly screwed people over. Maybe address the whole 'Sketor and Gaylon came from Earth' subplot that doesn't pay off anywhere else except Krel saying "earth magic and akiridion tech are so similar it's weird right?" like twice in RoTT.
And, before anyone asks; Trollhunters had issues with the ending, too, but was at least its own thing with a mostly completed story. And Both RoTT and Wizards need a lot more than just a change to the ending to work.

the wait was worth it actually dw !! and i have some thoughts, provided you don't mind me ranting. first things first i'll admit that toa is a grey zone for me nowadays. loved the first 3 books, especially the 3rd one where you'd think it's finally getting real and serious. 4th one, um, i've shamelessly spoiled myself the ending. didn't like what i saw at all, yet i still read it out of curiosity and because ngl, i liked the 2 emperors apollo was facing as characters. caligula was the one who did the deed and made shit hit the fan with jason and all, and for a sec it looked as if we're getting a villain who's actually a threat to be taken seriously for the first time since like... luke? kronos? since pjo, basically. commodus... yeah i don't think i have to explain this one, i enjoyed his backstory with apollo and hoped to get more on that. the 4th book's ending was predictably shit, of course. kind of lost my interest there & skimmed through the 5th book when it came out just to get it over with. wasn't impressed whatsoever. and that's when my opinion on toa went from "has the potential to be pjo but better" to "everyone was right. it sucks".
however. i in fact 100% dig your theories and think them coming true could've explained the 4th book perfectly and tied all the loose ends. think about it. the emperors who seemed so powerful going down like that? plot armor for everyone but jason, the son of you-know-who who conveniently offended you-know-who beforehand? python being an absolute dogshit antagonist that barely had any presence other than "i'm a big bad snake and i'm big and i'm bad"? as of right now this is just shit writing but if zeus was the mastermind all along then it wouldn't have been. it would've went from bad writing on rick's part to bad writing on zeus' part, if this makes sense. it would've concluded the series in a befitting & memorable way that aligns with the themes we were presented with since day 1.
i know what it's like to be the tinfoil hat wearer of your fandom (i am also like that in a few fandoms unrelated to this conversation) & i admire the way you keep your agenda up despite the fact that it already ended and ended like that but like... i don't even think you're that much of a tinfoil hat wearer tbh. you're literally just right about things sorry not sorry girl. i don't wanna give RR more credit than he deserves but he can't be an absolute moron, can he? in fact i am now convinced that he did want to end things that way, like that's too many hints and clues for them to be there just because.
to throw my 2 cents in, i do think it was in fact rewritten, and with how shitty it is i'll go as far as saying that it was because the rewrite was a last minute one. either 1. he had a few endings in mind, yours & the one we have both included, and he placed the clues in there in case he decided to commit to that lane and needed something to back it up. then he for some reason went with the shittier one 2. he did write it like that originally, then his editors or publisher or whoever saw it and thought it might be offensive/too much for kids to handle and forced him to rewrite it or 3. both options combined. rick himself took a step back, decided that the ending might be a bit too much, especially considering that it was written around the time people were calling him out for all the weird shit he's written, remembered that he has the whole tv show deal coming, and thought that it's best to play it safe, even at the expense of storytelling.
who knows tho. tl;dr you've managed to convince me & i'm in love with you & i definitely think you should've written the series instead of the man. much love 🫶
you and i are telepathizing we are on the same astral plane i am giving you the biggest hug and ily too !!

my project of rewriting (at least the drafting) chapter 1 of my fic is done!! 23k words later, it's sitting in purgatory atm so i can come back with fresher eyes and start the chore of editing it, but i've started work on chapter 3, and let me tell you, i have a much better idea of where to take it since i'd like it to bridge between wizards and rott's rewrite.
i'm planning on writing that you can pick it up and read it with the knowledge of toa & not have to read my beef baby before it. i need to spin the rewrite's outline in my head for a bit before actually sitting down to write it (aside from maybe picking at a couple of scenes that i really wanna write because jim deserves to throw his troll hands at bellroc but still get his ass whooped)
that and im remaking jim's carrd (again. this is version 3.0 oops) as well as building claire's carrd & slowly filling out the multi's carrd profiles. jim's tags are about 50% done, and i think im happy w claires but i need to go back and look them over. the multi's tagging system is def gonna be simple because yeah the aesthetic is too much effort.

Watching the Rise of the Titans movie and I'll be documenting all of my thoughts/reactions here. [Spoiler Warning]
So instead of reblogging every new update, I'm just going to have this post up on my phone as I watch and type my reactions in a bullet list format.
Nari's human disguise is so cute. As someone who does have a cottagecore aesthetic, I want to cosplay her so bad
Are Skrael and/or Belroc non-binary coded? Regardless, I'm also obsessed and I want to fuck Skrael and be Belroc.
STEVE CARING ABOUT JIM BEING HURT YESSSS!!! My god his redemption has probably been one of the greatest there is because he doesn't just suddenly go from being a bully to a completely good person. You can see the gradual shift in learning better throughout the shows which is awesome.
IN NEW YOOOOOOORRRRRRRK!!!!!! CONCRETE JUNGLE WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE OFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!
The mugshot montage reminded me of season 1 of trollhunters when toby and Jim were arrested at the museum.
STRICKLER PUT A RING ON IT??? HE'S THE ONLY DILF IVE EVER ACTUALLY AGREED WAS HOT WYM I CAN'T HAVE HIM??? well I'm still really happy about his arc over the series probably one of my favorite character growths.
Eli my guy got his growth spurt!!! As an 18 year old who is still 5'0", I'm happy but envious for him
So I went into this movie without watching any trailers or promo, but I doubt anything could have prepared me for the existence of mpreg. In fact, I wasn't going to document my reactions until I saw that.
NAMURA!!!!!!!!! MY BELOVED!!!!!! I CAN STILL THIRST FOR YOU WITHOUT GUILT
The coach teacher just called the kids zoomers so I have to dock one point from my final rating just because of that. Unforgivable
Those husky animation models suck lmao
Oh fuck the titans got power ranger zords!!
God why did they include the mpreg??? This movie would have been perfect without it.... After that plot point being revisited only one time I'm already beyond done with it
Like it's bringing me back to the v*ltron days where they're was a suspiciously high amount of klance omegaverse and mpreg fics and art created and it physically hurts because Steve and Keith's voice actor is the same person meaning this is especially cursed to me since I was unfortunately in the v*ltron fandom and remember all of that
But like on another note, how old are these characters again??? I haven't checked any wikis because of spoilers but is Steve an adult??? I know aja might be technically a lot older than 18 because alien but is whatever age she is equivalent to an adult as far as emotionally and physically in Akaridion development??? IS THIS A TEEN (M)PREGNANCY IN A KIDS SHOW????
Like bruh I saw a singular post on here before going into the movie that was like "rott spoilers without context" and there was a pregnant belly but I was absolutely not expecting the actual context of it. I'll find the post after I finish and edit this post to tag the creator right here: @makoden
This entire post is just gonna be me ranting about mpreg huh
Anyway I love the whole roundtable allusion to the legends of king arthur (not the toa version but the one he's based off)
THERE'S 3 TO 5 BABIES????? I need to take a break bruh this is just too much
Alright I've taken a 30 minute break got some food and did some things i love (decompressed by tactile stimming with some owl plushies and watched some videos on my favorite owl, Garu. He lives in Japan with his owner and is a domesticated eagle owl who basically just acts like a sky cat. If anyone else needs some eye bleach, here is their YouTube channel)
Blinky and ARRRGHHH!!! saying their "if one of us doesn't make it" talk my god one of them is going to die I can see it and I will be utterly crushed. Jim can't lose another father figure and Toby can't lose his wingman again I will riot if this happens
On a similar but unrelated to the movie note, can we just talk about how toa started with Jim having 0 dads and (if strickler and blinky live to the end) will end with 2 dads? Like I just really feel happy for him that he has two dads who actually figured out how to put the past behind them to not have any infighting between them so that both of them are healthy father figures. Jim has already been through literal hell and back losing his actual humanity in the process so if he loses one of them, I'm going to be really pissed because at this point, this is just Jim torture porn. Y'all know how as SpongeBob SquarePants went on, the show just became Squidward torture porn? It's starting to feel that way for toa and I really hope they cut the shit by the ending
Jlaire is such a good ship but like I feel like it's too perfect they never disagree with each other
YESSSSSSS Someone finally doesn't treat toby like a fat waste of space who messes stuff up!!! I think out of all the characters that would have been most deserving of a rewrite, it's Toby. Sometimes I just feel he's only comic relief and any heartfelt moments he's had in the series was also born of stupidity (ie his flour baby project being unharmed was seen by him as divine intervention from his parents but was actually just Eli and Steve behind the scenes).
Ohhhhh yesssssss Archie's father!!! I was hoping I'd see him again because we got so little of him last
Ooooooooooh Asian trollmarket!!!!!
Oh never mind slavery trollmarket
Bruh titanic camelot
I feel like we're not seeing enough of the villains because I completely forgot about the power ranger zord things
NAMORA NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY LAST CRUSHHHH
STRICKLER NO NOT YOU TOO PLEASE
WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE ONLY TWO CHARACTERS I SIMP FOR ON THIS SHOW DIED WITHIN FIVE MINUTES OF EACH OTHER
THAT WHOLE ASS RANT I WROTE IS COMING TRUE FUCK THIS MOVIE THIS SERIES IS JUST JIM TORTURE PORN
WAIT JIM'S SPERM DONOR INFO?
Oh thank God I don't want to know anything about that person
For the record, I call that man Jim's sperm donor because he has no business being called a father to him. All he did was donate some swimmers to the creation of him and give him abandonment issues
Oh another blind troll elder???? This fucker is just if vendel was a bad guy
Bruh I was grieving
PACIFIC RIM WITH GUN ROBOT VEX AND THE BELROCZORD? I've never seen that movie but I know the reference
Bruh Blinky doesn't read horoscopes? Does he realize conspiracy theories are just the manly version of horoscopes?
NO DON'T KILL VEX STOP KO-ING FOUND FAMILY MEMBERS
Oh thank God he's okay
NO NOT ARCHIE AND CHARLEMAGNE OH MY GOD
oh never mind they're just gonna coup de tat I believe in them :))
But I want to see him again
But I'm glad to see vex
Yay they're in arcadia!
But yeah I wondered why the trolls and Merlin didn't keep the whole "daylight doesn't hurt trolls" feature from the eternal night but now Guillermo del Toro I see you were playing the long con in that just to kill my girl Namora :(((
Oooooh I love the animation of the Narizord over Chihuahua!! It looks very good and realistic (if only they could have put some of that into those huskies from before smh)
Bruh the character designs of the arcane order are so good I want to be them
Nari making sure the Skraelzord doesn't crush the bus
DAMN DOUBLE HOMICIDE
Bruh I'm just glad we finally have an answer on why arcadia had everything going on as opposed to literally anywhere else!! I always found that as a weird coincidence for plot convince.
BRUH WERE BACK TO THE MPREG IM SO JEALOUS I FORGOT ABOUT THAT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS GRIEVING THE LOSS OF MY LOVELIES.
Oh that's real convenient that the ninth configuration meant all of them. Way to not decide which character gets more attention. Though it probably was a smart way to not have any infighting in the fandom between each character's stan group.
Bruh I just realized where is Barbera did they just ditch her on the Camelot ship???
And where are the other trolls that migrated at the end of trollhunters s3? They said something about new jersey but obviously Jim and the other main characters got on Camelot instead.... This feels like a plot hole
And we never learned the process of how changelings are made and bonded to humans and stuff. We just know it's super painful but I'm curious ffs!!!!
THE DONT THINK BECOME HERO SPEECH ALL SAID TOGETHER!!!
BRUH THEY REALLY HAD TO SHOW HIM GIVING BIRTH??????? WAS THAT AN ABSOLUTE MUST??????
Plus the main audience for this series is little children (the rating for the movie is literally TV-Y7) so even though my adult ass is not in the target audience, I STILL DONT UNDERSTAND WHY WOULD MPREG AND ANAL BIRTH WOULD BE AN IMPORTANT THING TO 7 YEAR OLDS???? THIS IS A LITERAL FETISH HIDDEN IN KIDS CONTENT ITS ELSAGATE ALL OVER AGAIN Y'ALL 😭😭😭😭😭
Though it's probably hypocritical of me to think fetishes don't belong in kids tv when I've openly admitted to thirsting for strickler and namora
HUZZAH
NEW AMULET WAZ GOOD????
STAB THAT BITCH JIM
WAIT NO I SAID STAB NOT GET STABBED
Alright good job just missed the directions at first but you fixed it
SEVEN KIDS?????????
T O B Y ????????????
W A I T NO
N O
IS HE ACTUALLY
OH MY GOD THERE'S HOPE
NO THERE ISN'T
F U C K THIS SHIT THEY REALLY JUST HAD HIM TO BE BULLIED THEN KILLED
Y'ALL IM ACTUALLY CRYING THIS NEVER HAPPENS
I NEVER ACTUALLY GET SO EMOTIONAL OVER MEDIA THAT I CRY IT ONLY HAPPENED ONCE AT THE END OF VOLTRON BUT AHHHHHHHH
W A I T
HE'S GONNA BE BROUGHT BACK?????
HOLD UP THEY'RE JUST GONNA BRING ALL THOSE DEAD PEOPLE BACK??????
WAIT IS HE
BLINKY CALLED HIM A SON
HOLD ON IS THIS GOING TO BE A CLIFFHANGER???????????
BRUH THEY REALLY JUST CAN'T END THE SERIES WITHOUT CLIFFHANGERS like there's always an open ending
TROLLHUNTER TOBY????? You know what forget the whole rants I had on how toby was written they just redeemed it all
And that's all! I'd rate it a 6.5/10 because it's definitely the weakest of all the sequels but still had amazing animation and some good plot points. It's just really hard to look over the bad stuff enough to rate it any higher.

I hate that after admitting they lied to the Matoran about their past... The Turaga (sans Nokama) had the nerve to hide that the Toa Nuva were on a quest to keep Mata Nui from dying; They lied and withheld information, again.
It’s not so bad when the Turaga are just these distantly enigmatic elders, of whom we don’t really get to know all that personally. But then we get to know them as Toa Metru. We get to see them grow and come of age, learn what it means to truly be a hero- What real leadership looks like, that establishes a mutual trust between a leader and their followers. We see the Toa Metru learn to be brave against the greatest of darkness, recognize how Matoran can become heroes in their own right...
And then after the Turaga’s growth has been established, they regress and make the cowardly decision to lie to the Matoran about their past, not unlike Makuta’s plans. After Vakama bravely reassures the team that they’ll be ready for Makuta’s return. They decide that actually, blissful ignorance is better, after combating an evil dictatorship that told Matoran to blindly trust the orders of their superiors- Fighting an impostor who lied about his own identity.
The Turaga apparently become convinced that the Matoran will never return to Metru Nui, so there’s no point in telling them about it- There is the implicit expectation that Matoran will die never knowing the truth. And I don’t know if any Matoran DID die during that time period... If so, yikes.
It’s just such a defeatist betrayal now, after getting to personally know them as heroes- The character development of the Toa Metru is ruined in hindsight with this. And obviously some of it boils down to how the Turaga lying about the past was already settled ahead of time, all Greg could do was write around that to the best of his ability- I don’t think I can blame him for that dilemma.
But what IS unnecessary is the Turaga making the decision to lie, again, about Mata Nui dying! The fact that they had the audacity to do that after admitting the truth, that it was decided they would lie again, after we’d gotten to know them as heroes, when that first lie had already been decided beforehand- It just really bugs me. It’s bitter reading The Darkness Below and how Vakama chooses to face a potential death with his eyes open, bravely accepting it as Lhikan would... And then a thousand years later, denies the Matoran this same dignity by withholding the truth from them, because he and the others chose to give into fear.
This was something all the Turaga agreed to... Unless they didn’t agree but were somehow too subservient to Dume to argue with his decision, even after all this time. It’s just such an unnecessary bit of conflict that makes the Turaga look even worse in hindsight, right after we’d spent two years getting to know and love them, their insecurities and struggles, as protagonists.
Yeah at least Nokama secretly comes clear to Jaller over it, but it still bothers me how she tries to justify it at first, instead of openly standing up for her beliefs and telling all of the Matoran the truth, and owning up to it! She didn’t choose to defy Dume and the rest as a hero, it was a slip of tongue that revealed herself!
Again, there’s nothing one can do about the Turaga lying the first time, it’s something you HAVE to deal with. But the decision to have them lie in 2006 was just too much, especially after seeing the Toa Metru grow and become personal heroes to us, and not just distant and mysterious elders. In a rewrite (YaBr in my case), I think the Turaga should be upfront about the truth- Explain that they were exiled from the Matoran Universe by Makuta.
There’s still the belief that the island of Mata Nui can remain a home even after the Matoran regain access to the Matoran Universe, why not Mata Nui AND Metru Nui? So it’s still a grieving shock when they realize they have to leave their home behind... Or, it’s something they’d always expected would happen, even if it still hurts when the time comes. There’s definitely no lying about Mata Nui dying, that’s for sure.
Or even, maybe the Turaga were amnesiac too! That was part of the original concepts I believe. Maybe when they used their power to awaken the Matoran, there was a feedback from the pods that caused the Toa Metru to lose their memories as well. They only had vague enough knowledge to come up with the legend of Mata Nui... Later on, some Turaga got more vivid flashbacks of the past, but it wasn’t something they were certain enough about to outright tell the Matoran, “Hey I think we remembered our REAL history!” They might’ve even suspected it to be visions of the future instead...
It’s only when they meditate upon the Amaja-Kini and receive more visions that the Turaga realize there’s an island they came from, and figure out how to break this. Then Takua gives news about how the island of Mata Nui needs to be destroyed for the Great Spirit to awaken, and the Turaga realize- Yep, it has to be real. Metru Nui must be a thing, this must be where they came from if the island was like a dream for Mata Nui, and this is how they’ll survive AND awaken the Great Spirit.
Then the Turaga and Matoran arrive back on Metru Nui... And just being there, it causes all of the memories to start coming back. They remember their past as heroes, and explain to everyone that the Nuva weren’t the first Toa after all! And because the memories take a while to fully return, it’s mostly bit by bit... The Turaga don’t remember enough to just give a TL;DR of the story- Instead, they wait for more memories to return, and relay the Matoran with each update- Hence each book of Bionicle Adventures.
But, those are just my thoughts for YaBr, though this applies to any rewrite for Bionicle I suppose. In the end, while I can’t blame Greg for the Turaga lying the first time, it does mean we enter their origin story with this end fact to retroactively tarnish their Hero’s Journey... And then lying in 2006, that was all Greg’s decision as far as I can tell, and absolutely not necessary. Not after the Turaga went through all of the trouble to tell the truth and only the truth, all of it... They see how upset the Matoran were the first time, and they decide with a straight face to lie again! Unbelievable.

it sucks but i cant even pretend to like a solangelo friendship. and i was even kind of open to them at the end of boo (i wrote solangelo fanfiction on wattpad in 2014 can you believe it) so its funny to me when people say he gets better in toa, because that was what SOLIDIFIED my dislike hatred of him. i think if solangelo was going to be done in a tactful way he’d need a complete rewrite, starting with the fact he’s a healer and so on. its just so hard to look past the weird obsessive + fetishy glorification the fandom has bestowed upon him :/
ahhhh i'm honestly the same!! i feel like even if they were to be friends, their relationship started in a weird way :/ like i cannot get past him invalidating nico and being fucking rude??? i know people make mistakes and he's not the only one who hasn't been the nicest to nico but it just makes my blood boil every time i remember it, so that would Definitely need to change if they were to be friends and ofc boyfriends lol also the whole nico being ooc at the end of boo bothers me So Much i genuinely don't believe the nico we knew up until that point would ever stand for will being a pushy asshole??? like. hello???? anyway.
i can't speak a lot about their relationship or will in toa bc i haven't read it but i've heard people saying he's a pain in the ass LMAO it's so sad bc he really wasn't a bad character before riordan decided to pair him with nico :/ and yeah the whole healer thing irks me too. i already hated canon solangelo bc of how out of Nowhere and forced it was but oh my god the fandom made it so much worse i can barely stand the shippers rip i know not everyone is awful, i have a few friends who ship them and are great but overall i try to keep my distance and forget that the relationship is canon bc i fucking hate it so much.
it was so so so poorly done and what makes me even madder is people arguing that it's representation and that nico deserves to be happy like Yeah. ofc he fucking does and that's exactly why i hate solangelo? he deserves BETTER than a forced weird relationship ??? if you care about him so much, if you care about lgbtq+ representation so much, shouldn't you want him to be in a well developed, not forced, good relationship? are we supposed to just accept it because "it's a gay couple!! and at least he's not alone!!!"?? literally fuck off lmao first things first he deserves friends, a good support network and therapy. a boyfriend won't solve his problems. rick literally got rid of everyone who cared about him other than hazel and now he basically just has will ?? how is that healthy ????
if i'm being honest i can't even see solangelo lasting like nico would stay with him for 2 years tops and then he'd realize will is annoying and he can do better and dump him LOL that's what happens in my head at least .
anyway sorry for the long ass rant i'm just always mad abt solangelo and down to talk shit about it<3

Why Nomura’s Death Was Pointless
Killing off Nomura did not advance the narrative of the film, Nomura’s personal character arc, or anyone else’s character arc.
In contrast, killing off Strickler (specifically, him dying to save Jim) worked as a satisfactory conclusion to his personal character arc.
Strickler's death worked for me, through the lens of looking at TOA as a whole rather than the movie as its own thing, but Nomura's death felt like it was just thrown in to show "anyone can die", and killing off *both* of them felt like the Janus Order massacre in Season 2, where they ALL died so the script writers wouldn't have to write about them anymore.
(Side note, that means that Not Enrique, who isn’t even IN the movie, was the only surviving Changeling before Jim decided to rewrite time.)
Looking at the movie as a standalone, Nomura's death means nothing to the audience, because she got so little narrative attention before getting killed off. The only emotion she's shown having is impatience. None of her snark got to shine. Someone whose introduction to the franchise is the movie would not have been amiss, based on the evidence presented to them, for thinking she was a random extra written in for the sake of being killed off. Her relationship to Jim in the overall franchise goes completely unaddressed.
"Strickler, a guy who used to look out only for himself, finally has love and a plan for the future beyond 'survival', but gives it up to save the world and the lives of those he loves" = acceptable and meaningful character death.
"Nomura, demonstrated to be reckless in her introductory episode, has apparently learned nothing over the course of the entire franchise, and is killed off to show that Nari is so deeply mind-controlled that she is willing to kill people" = unsatisfying.
Nari could have been just as distressed from realizing she’d put someone in mortal peril as from actually killing them. I don’t think there’s any hard evidence Nari even remembers killing Nomura, rather than just being upset at realizing she’s hurting Douxie once he gets her attention.
Also, having both deaths in quick succession means Nomura’s death is robbed of impact. I don't think anyone onscreen even mourns Nomura beyond Douxie being momentarily upset by the death before AAARRRGGHH tells him to focus, and Jim basically going "oh no, her too?" when told while mourning Strickler.
Zadra could’ve taken Nomura’s place in this movie, with mind-controlled Nari using the vines to rip out and crush Zadra's core or something instead of holding Nomura in sunlight, and it would not change the movie AT ALL. The dialogue (except for people saying her name) and general choreography (because they have similar weapons and fighting styles) could be left untouched.
That's how pointless Nomura's death scene was. It didn't even matter to the narrative or any of the other characters that she specifically was the one to die.
(Side note, if Morgana could bring Angor Rot back to life, I’m sure Nari could’ve brought Strickler and Nomura back to life if anyone had bothered to tell her they were dead before she died too.)

Hi!
I dont know if you have this been asked before but if your could re write the Greek Gods in PJO how would you have portrayed them?
Oh boy that’s a big question, also I am rewriting PJO and the Greek Gods so check out my story ATLOP (link is pinned alongside my discord).
First off I would make Poseidon just in general more protective of Percy, people should not be fucking with Percy without worrying about what Poseidon might do afterwards.
Dionysus is a wreck in canon, if he’s gonna do that at least make it clear that Dionysus is depressed and not having fun and elaborate or something on why this kind of punishment is being used. Also he’s just so... dismissive like please that’s not how Lord D should act.
Zeus should not be so paranoid, I do think he should be strict and maybe even advocating for Percy’s death (not because he’s Poseidon’s son but because He has a history of avoiding prophecies). But he wouldn’t be the weird extreme style that Rick wrote him.
Ares would not be... that. He’s a God of War thank you very much, He’s not going to be picking fights with kids and also HE’S A GOOD DAD FUCK OFF RICK.
Kronos. Is. Good. At. Manipulation.
Hades :) Is not :) Evil :) Nor :) Is he :) Unnecessarily :) Cruel :)
Stars I don’t even know where to begin on fixing Hera but at the very least She’s not on about some “perfect family” She treasure all Her family.
Aphrodite is a war Goddess too btw. Blood lust and all that :) She’s not some soft unwilling to fight Goddess, She’s got a history of being on the battlefield. There’s a reason She’s paired up with Ares.
Apollo, ugh, He’s so much more than what Rick made him. TOA had my Prince there but oh stars did it treat Him wrong.
Artemis doesn’t hate boys! What even was that!? She’s a protector of children, all children, and commonly prayed to by hunters all over. Rick fight me.
Persephone is scary but also very sweet thanks. Also all of Hades’ kids are actually hers cause Hades can’t have kids, that’s mythos canon kids. Death cannot create life.
Tartarus is more than crazy evil, Gaea loves Her family so much that She goes to extremes for Them, Uranus should be present and also was not a fun guy either but you can fix that.
The Titan’s are not unambiguously evil ugh, They’d be portrayed far more respectfully.
Honestly so many of the Gods need fixing it hurts.

Thoughts on Rott
I’m not very active because of time, but I really need to put this out. So now that everyone has had their rants on rott… It’s my turn.
A reminder that all I’m going to talk about, is simply my opinion on the matter. Oh, and this will be a pretty long text.
ROTT SPOILERS(I guess)
I’m not even gonna talk about how OOC the characters were in the movie, I think other profiles already did a pretty good explanation of that, and I actually expect it from a movie.
I’d like to talk about resettings and about how as a writer myself (at least in my native tongue) I swear I’ll never use a timeline resetting as an ending in any canon fiction of mine.
To begin with, resetting being used as a resolution, an ending, is by concept disrespectful.
First, it disrespects all characters’ arcs.
Everything every character went through, their growth, their pain, their victories, is completely thrown at the garbage. It means nothing anymore because all of them went back to the start, none of it ever happened and there is no way in canon to know if it will happen the same way again.
I don’t know about you who is reading this but a big part of the reason I follow a series is for character development. That was the one thing in toa I was always proud to affirm it was chef’s kiss. Well, none of this exists anymore, jokes on me.
So, my second point: Ending with a resetting disrespects the viewer.
I think it is bad enough when you waste two hours of your life watching a movie, for the resetting to happen at the end. But then it was only two hours. Rott was a movie, but it was a part of a 5 years franchise. 5 years that we spent waiting for new stories to come, to see our favourite characters grow, come back or even die. All the engagement, happiness, and other emotions we felt while following these same characters were completely meaningless when the franchise ends with “And so we are back to the beginning”. I think it is even worse when they complete it with “and now everything is different and you don’t know what is going to happen… But we won’t tell you how”.
The disrespect doesn’t even end there for me lol . Besides the “So, and it was all for… nothing” feeling, I think the specific way it was done in toa affects it on another level.
Trollhunters was a comfort tv show for me, I found it in a very difficult time of my life and have been rewatching it for fun in stressful weeks.
I saw someone commenting “how can I enjoy the rewatching if I know in the end none of this ever matters?”. That is my problem with the specific way they used it. It affects my rewatches. Maybe it is still too early, but everytime I think about rewatching season 1, I realize there is no reason to do it. And not because I already watched it several times (thanks anxiety), but because all of this was undone and maybe never even happened.
I never expected an ending would ruin a whole franchise for me and I followed Steven Universe weekly. Worst case scenario, I thought we would have had a weak ending that could easily be forgotten, or continued in our fics. We would lose some characters, like we’ve lost Draal, but when we revisited them in past seasons they would still be there.
Revisiting past seasons now just tastes bitter.
I see Jim riding his bike on episode 1, I see Strickler with his character arc, Steve that has grown so much as a person.. And then I remember it was all for nothing. All of it was erased and, canonically, they will always be on square one.
I saw someone today saying “It is worse than ‘it was all a dream’ ”, and that is it. “It was all a dream” is already a disrespectful trope, this was worse.
If you are still here, I'm sorry, there is more to this rant. I won’t be repeating the disrespect thing though, I think I’ve made my point.
There is another aspect of the resetting that I really want to talk about.
Have you ever watched Dragon Ball? Yes, guys, I’m that old.
Dragon Ball was known for the trope of reviving characters. We always used it as an example to criticize this trope.
Reviving characters out of nowhere or with frequency takes the weight out of a character’s death. The spectator doesn’t care anymore when they see someone die, because they will come back in the end, and you feel that the writers take killing people very lightly because of that.
Difference between Reviving Characters and Resetting Timeline as an ending is that Reviving Characters can be good if used with caution. Resetting Timeline can’t, and that affected writing in Rott.
I found it strange how so many deaths felt light there, and to me the explanation is: they knew in the end it wouldn’t matter, so they didn’t need to put that much weight into it. “If none of this ever happened, I can kill whoever I want however I want.”
Which takes me to my last point of “Ending with Reset Timeline is bad by concept”.
When you know you will reset a whole world to the start, you can do any crazy thing to the plot or the characters because you don’t have consequences from that. Which, to me, explains the “wtf” feeling a lot of the fandom got while watching so many OOC scenes and silly situations during the movie. From a fandom who was waiting for an ending for more than a year, it is really disappointing.
Now, of course I’m not saying any of this was done on purpose, or with malicious intent. I think the writers had very good intentions, we know there were crew there who worked on other seasons of TOA. I even get the concept of “the adventure will continue forever”. I just think they forgot to read the fandom room.
Anyway, I really wanted to share my feelings about the “Resetting Timeline as an ending” trope (?) because I don’t think the issues here are limited to TOA. All points T made are pretty general and I got it from all the works I’ve seen using this “solution”. I’ll advocate any day that this is a lazy and disrespectful solution, no matter who uses it or where it is used. Unless, of course, you do give me the whole franchise rewritten after the resetting, but that ain’t ever gonna happen.
I’ll take from TOA the amazing artists and storyboarders I found out here. The stricklake discord that gave me so much joy over the last two years and let me meet great people. Even the screenshots and beautiful scenes from the movie because the art was Amazing! That part I'm taking with me. Oh, Good Aaron, of course, cause now I’ll be following his work wherever he goes because this man is amazing. Actually, only him to make a good situation out of this. As he himself said, all headcanon is now canon.
So I’ll be disregarding the existence of rott, as I disregard the existence of the last airbender, take the rest of the franchise with me and any post-Wizards/rott rewriting fics I’ll find. And if I don’t find one I’ll write one. Nothing can be worse than resetting timeline ending.
I hope someday I can revisit the old seasons without this bitter taste, though.
That being said, I’m open to fic suggestions. Rott AU's, Rott erasement, post-wizards AUs, you name it. Do you need a reader? Send it to me.
And I’ll be doing stricklake month, once I recover from this.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I was talking to @evergardenwall and @gracediangelo about Will.
And I think Rick played his cards super wrong. Because Will could be one of the most relatable people for our generation.
• He’s the guy that puts everyone else first, while being an asshole about it. He could be that character that is rude and brutal while being selfless and helpful and silently caring about people.
• In the Titan War, he got a field promotion (cough cough Jason Grace cough cough) right after he watched his siblings die. And guess what? Their deaths, Mike and Lee’s, were directly connected to Percy Jackson.
• He didn’t complain once, he just continued working and he was probably the person that got less rest too because while people were resting up he was in that hotel penthouse just patching everyone up and making sure people were alright.
And he never asked for anything in return.
This is the Will we could’ve had but Rick wanted that LGBTQ representation and rushed Solangelo and me no likey.
Because imagine Will and Nico bonding over their losses instead of the passive aggressive relationship we were given?
Imagine a ToA narrative for them where Solangelo makes sense. Imagine Will telling Nico he was happy to finally have someone who understood his pain. Someone who understood his bitterness from Manhattan. And Nico being “I’m sure a lot of people lost their loved ones in the war and would be able to hold a conversation a lot better than I can” and Will just saying “No, they don’t understand. Not like us. They didn’t lose their family to him. For him.” and he’s talking about Percy.
Because Will would hate himself for holding this feeling inside of him, Percy is a hero after all. He did everything for the world. He sacrificed so much… But what about everyone else? And Will is the kind of person that thinks about everyone else. He’s a healer, that’s what he’s wired for.
And this little grudge that he puts out there for Nico to grab onto leading to Nico offering advice about how to get rid of this feeling. “My sister Bianca once told me—…”. Nico listening to Bianca’s words for the first time in a way he hadn’t before because this time he means them, because they’re for someone else and not for himself. And he needed to hear the meaning in them too. And they both share so much more than they thought: their loss, their grudges, a mutual path to understanding Percy was just a pawn in game that caused them so much pain.
They could heal together. Grow together. Understand to navigate their differences.
I demand a rewrite.

RECAP ON LUNA
This time, I want to talk about one of the most mysterious characters in The Case Study of Vanitas: Vanitas of the Blue Moon, more recently known as Luna.
So, only a few days till next chapter ... will I be able to squeeze in another recap?
Tumblr media
The legend of Vanitas of the Blue Moon is the very first thing we learn. A very straightforward story: a kid is born with a characteristic they have no control over, but it's still hated by others; and is thereby exiled and sent to die. In the face of such cruelty, the victim turns villain, and creates a magic book that will allow them to exact vengeance upon those who mistreated them.
As I said, a straightforward story. Almost suspiciously so.
Tumblr media
But the next things we learn about Vanitas are not exactly flattering, either. Our Vanitas, who for practicality (laziness) purposes will therefore be known as Vany, claims that he wants to avenge himself of something Vanitas did him, and to do so, he inherited their name and book to completely subvert their purpose. And he reacts quite angrily at the idea that he 'respects' Vanitas in any shape or form.
Moreover, Vanitas left on him a 'Mark of Possession', that imbued the human with a portion of their power, which allows him to use the Book. Vany shows the mark to everyone at a ball, and causes a panic. So far, Vanitas' reputation has been pretty terrifying.
Tumblr media
But then, chapter 17 rolls in. And we seen Vanitas in a very different light: someone who would raid the laboratory of a mad scientist, only to take pity on two children imprisoned there, free them and taking care of them, to the point that Misha refers to him as 'Father'. (Even if what little is seen of their appearence looks pretty feminine. And Vany calls them a woman. Maybe they were transgender, and Vany, being the mysoginistic ass that he is, happily ignored their chosen pronouns? In absence of other information, I use 'them' to be on the side of caution).
And later Vanitas' appearences are similar: they are depicted as a teacher, someone who is willing to let their protegès in with the secrets of their Book.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, Gevaudan Arc. In the attempt to cure Chloè, Vany must use his Mark of Possession. Which gives quite a lot of new information.
First of all, Vanitas' True Name: Luna. It means literally Moon in Latin (and derivated languages such as Spanish and Italian). And that's quite a relief, since Vanitas literally means 'emptiness', 'worthlessness', and to be named like that, you've got to have some shitty parents.
'Vanitas' was likely a derogatory name they received in a later moment ... or maybe the 'regular name', such as Amelia for 'Florifel', in which case the shitty parents theory still stands. We don't know much about how vampires are given their regular and true names.
By the way, that implies Vany didn't truly hate them: that syllabe he muttered when he was feverish in chapter 27 wasn't Lou as originally translated, but 'Lu'(na). So, despite the hatred for vampires he had when he was younger, despite keeping the distance, despite his proclaims of vengeance, he didn't hate them. Then why does he save vampires?
Again: the Mark will 'rewrite' him. We do not know what does this exactly mean: Luna's personality will replace his own? Or will he become something else entirely?
In any case, it seems that its use is reserved for emergencies and not 'regular' cures, given how far it has spread in this one instance. But of course, given the direction that the story seems to be taking, it's likely that Vany will be forced to use it again and again.
Lastly, it means that it is a pretty uncommon mark: Vany has another one, by Jeanne, and it doesn't seem to bother him in any similar way.
Tumblr media
And later in chapter 43, after his little ... uh, rendez-vous? with Jeanne, we have another flashback. Which, instead of depicting Luna as someone who would give their pupil a mark that will 'rewrite' him, depicts them as someone who gives loving, sensitive advice, showing understanding to a kid pretty hostile towards them. Also, they seem to anticipate that they will be 'gone', which leads us to ...
Tumblr media
This. Misha finally says out loud that Vany killed Luna. But he himself doesn't know why.
Also, the kid is equipped with another Book of Vanitas, unmentioned by the original story, but that he seems to be using in a very similar way to which it was originally told.
Tumblr media
By the way, Vanitas must have been dead by quite a while now. Vany inherited also their cute little hourglass charm, that he wear as a hearring; in Dante's flashback, when he seems a few years younger than now, he's already wearing it.
All in all, the resulting picture is of a very ambiguous figure. A victim of prejudice turnes vengeful monster, or a savior of tortured children? An abusive parental figure who would give a dangerous mark toa kid, or a kindly mentor, who would teach both magic and emotions?
Personally, I wonder how much 'consent' was involved both in their marking of Vany and his killing of them. Did Vany agree to get the Mark? Did Luna want to be killed, since she was anticipating to be outlived by the kids even if vampires live longer than humans? How meaningful was exactly this 'consent', if there was? Vany is eighteen now, and as mentioned, he looks a bit younger in the flashbacks. How old was he, exactly, when he was marked and killed his parental figure?
I think this ambiguity is reflected in the two Books of Vanitas. The original tale was incorrect: there is not only one terrifying grimoire, but there are two, one that gets used to harm vampires and another used to cure them. I would also like to point out that, despite sharing some key characteristics (those mentioned in the tale), there are actually a few design differences between the Books. So, it's possible that their content is also different. But why making something that could be used to cure vampires, if Luna hated them all so much? And why giving the two books to their two pupils - maybe they were meant to work together, instead of abandoning and fighting each other?
Again, I'm too much of a coward cautious individual to make theories that could be jossed, especially with the next chapter and possible answers so close. But still, I hope this recap can be useful to someone.
Thank you for reading!

introducing you to: all my WIPs
It’s the second time I’m writing this post because tumblr hates me and deleted it for no reason. Ugh. So, since I have to put some order in my brain, I’ll list here all of the wips I’m currently working on. But here comes the funny part: you get to choose one of these, and I’ll start working on it as soon as I can—and you’ll get a dt when I post it here and on ff.net. Also yes, you got it right; this is basically a way to make me start working on them faster. Here we go.
Olympus (chapter 5). If you know me and have read some of my fics, you probably already know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, “Olympus” is a bookshop AU, in which Reyna is the owner of a cute second-hand-books shop in San Francisco, and Jason is just some guy who happens to be maybe a little too in love with the shop (and its owner).
Sugar paper (chapter 1). You’re probably so sick of me talking about this fic. This is the fake dating AU I’ve been talking about for months, perhaps?, but never wrote. I’ve already started writing the first chapter, but I don’t like it at all, so I think I’ll just delete all I’ve got and start again from the beginning. Anyway, it features Percy, Nico, Jason’s and Reyna’s families and the fabulous Hazel Levesque.
The three times Reyna fell in love with Jason (and the one time she didn’t). If you think this title screams angst, you’re totally right. Slightly—highly, actually—inspired to my shitty love life, this fic is set in the canonic universe, and takes place before HoO. I think the title is pretty self-explanatory, so I won’t give you any details; only that New Rome plays a huge role in this fic. Oh and it’s a one-shot.
Rewrite the stars. Rey is going to hate me because I promised I’d write this ages ago and I still haven’t begun. This is a Star Trek AU in which Jason is the captain of a starship, and Reyna is his cold, stonefaced, calculating first officer with Romulan origins. When he asks her out for dinner, she has to remind him of the Code they had agreed to respect back when they were at the academy. Also a one-shot.
Illicit affairs. Obviously inspired by Taylor Swift, because how can you be a jeyna shipper and not listen to Taylor Swift. In particular, this fic is going to be a three-shots based on her new album “Folklore”’s teenage love triangle. In fact, this is not exactly jeyna. It’s more a study of the Piper/Jason/Reyna love triangle in the books. Mhh I don’t know if I’m ever going to write this anyway, so let me know.
The city of echoes. I’ve been thinking about this idea for the last week and I’m so in love with it. The subtitle is “All the times Jason and Reyna came back to each other”; the main plot takes place after ToA, but I want it to have as many flashbacks as possible. This one is going to be hot and sweet and rude, all at the same time. Both smutty and angsty. It’s mainly based on the myth of Phosphorus and Hesperus—the morning and the evening stars—, always thought to be so apart, and yet being the same thing. Exactly like Jason and Reyna. Three-shots.
Let me know which one you’d prefer reading first, or which one you’d like me to star working on. I think I’ll write most of these anyway, because I love each one of these ideas, but as I said, I’d like to write faster; plus I love receiving feedback and talking to you so yeah.
(Tagging some mutuals—please don’t hate me: @more-like-reyna @knowitowl @1ooo-w0rds @chocmarss @cometlite @kasoe21 @aadya23 @cyra04 @evolving-into-icarus @theresnourieandme @aureateargentum @pearlseleganciess @fanvergentinanexistentialcrisis @hayliemyers-agentofshield @pandora-allan)
