hey btw if you're in the USA at  2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 4, they're testing the emergency broadcast system. your phone is probably going to make a really loud noise, even if it's on silent. there's a backup date on the 11th if they need to postpone it.

if you're not in a safe situation and have an extra phone, you should turn that phone completely off beforehand.

additionally, if you're like me, and are easily startled; i recommend treating it like a party. have a countdown or something. be surrounded by your loved ones. take the actions you personally need to take to make yourself safe.

i have already seen mockery towards any person who feels nervous about this. for the record, it completely, completely valid to have "emergency broadcast sounds" be an anxiety trigger. do not let other people make fun of you for that. emergency sounds are legitimately engineered to make us take action; those of us with high levels of anxiety and/or neurodivergence are already pre-disposed to have a Bad Time. sometimes it is best to acknowledge that the situation will be triggering for some, and to prepare for that; rather than just saying "well that's stupid, it's just a test."

"loud scary sound time" isn't like, my favorite thing, but we can at least try to prevent some additional anxiety by preparing for it. maybe get yourself a cake? noise cancelling headphones? the new hozier album? whatever helps. love u, hope you're okay. we are gonna ride it out together.

1. if you care about what other ppl think of you, ur wasting ur life

spending time worrying about what other ppl think when they look at you is sooo useless. you are creating imaginary and false ideas of urself thro others. you walk past a group of ppl and you immediately become voice insecurities to yourself. who even are those ppl? they are nothing compared to you. thinking that their “prettier” or “richer” or “smarter” is stupid asf bc all those are just society aspects that are false. there is no such thing as being prettier than blah blah blah. you are you just like she is she and he is he and they are they. we are all our own ppl so why waste time thinking ur less than in other ppl’s eyes? spend that time telling urself how valuable you are. realize that insecurities arent real. theres literally nothing wrong with you. you are perfect period. society may tell you that you arent but who tf are they? you wanna stick to a victim mindset or you wanna be accurate in knowing you are already perfect?

you cant spend all your life worrying about what others think of you. stop being goofy and know that the only opinion that matters is you. focus on the thing that rly matters: you. love urself bc ur the one that will never leave ur side.

recovery tips: dance in front of the mirror naked while listening to your favorite song. notice how perfect your body is. the thought that ur ugly is the same as the thought of your pretty. theres no difference right? so now you know how much of a waste of time it is to think you arent perfect.

as a female in this society, we are expected to look up to men and please them…first of all.. look at what a beauty you are. you rly think a beautiful being like you would have to worry about pleasing others, especially men?? nahhh. never. remember that that little part of you that feels the need to impress men is just a result of this society. forget about it. the only one you need to impress is you.

recovery tips: know that you are a powerful limitless being. never accept impressing others. your so high up that ppl have to impress you. its never the opposite. listen to bad bitch edit audios. watch iconic 2000s movies. realize that you are the main character. why would a queen and a main character focus on impressing ppl that are already below her??… exactly.

3. be spontaneous and free

go out for a damn walk in the park or wherever. dont even worry about where your going. just walk. just enjoy the moment. get tf off the phone and take some fucking sun. for all my beautiful black angels, we all know that our afros grow towards the sun. you notice how when ppl start to get locs, they get thicker like a tree branch? while afros grow like a tree itself. we are nature. go out to the sun and let it bless your beautiful melanated skin and incredible afro hair. for everyone now: go have fun in the sun. humans are not meant to stay at home all day on they phone like stop being stupid and take a walk wherever.

dont worry and dont plan. just do and it will be exciting believe me.

4. love your beautiful black hair.

when i was little, i didnt know how to take care of my pretty type 4 hair bc my mom didnt have the same hair type as me. i would always look at the girls with straight hair or loose curls and wonder why i dont have that hair type. now im in love with my hair bc i learned to take care of it. the tight curls, the way i can put it in twists or cornrows or leave it in an afro. my hair is so versatile! theres no way i cant love it. idc if ppl call ur hair “difficult” or “too hard” or “ugly”… thats bc they will never know what its like having perfect hair like this. they could neva compare and thats a fact. it took me years to love my hair and i wish all little black babies grow up to know how perfect they hair is.

black barbie hair tips:

get a moisturizing shampoo and deep conditioner. i recommend companies like shea moisture, mielle organics, camille rose naturals, kinky-curly, and there are more just research and try which ever works for your hair

soak your hair in warm water and massage your scalp. use your shampoo and scrub with your finger tips not your finger nails (or else you can get cuts). shampoo 2-3 times.

put ur deep conditioner and when you detangle ur hair, use your fingers and detangle in small sections. do not use a small comb. use a wide tooth comb if you want. then, you can put ur hair in twists and put a cap on or steam it in the shower so that the deep conditioner moisturizes your hair.

rinse and use a moisturizing cream / leave in conditioner and put it on ur hair in sections and comb thro. do big or mini twists to lock in product.

when you have on an afro, do not pick your curls and pull it. this can cause breakage and split ends. when you have twists on, water your beautiful hair with water and some product in a spray bottle everyday / few times a week. think of your hair like a plant, you have to water and care for it.

when you take out your twist of any other protective styles, take your time to reduce breakage. and its better to detangle hair when it has conditioner in it. try using pre-shampoo when detangling dry hair.

spend time understanding your hair. thats how special it is. love it bc its raw black beauty.

everyones hair is different so what i do for my hair and the products i use will not always work you. research your hair porosity and hair types. a hair care journey starts off messy at times but the more it lasts, the easier it gets. you can start off hating your hair but you will soon realize how much of a perfect prize it is 💋

heck, this is what s4 was lmao. this is what all innuendo and chemistry is. and it's unresolved right now. it's called sexual tension!

i remember a bit from Sex Education on netflix where a woman was saying she wanted dirty talk from her partner, and in the end it didnt even need to be dirty in content, just in the way they spoke to each other. it was about the tone and the intention, not the act itself.

Oh I am so excited to answer this and talk about Threat's meta you have no idea. I could write essays on Threat and the work that went into their character.

The short answer for anyone that doesn't want to read meta is this: Threat is addicted to the endorphin rush of sex, they're addicted to feeling good and feeling in control, sex for Threat is a means to an ends not an expression of attraction. They are romantically interested in Crybaby and I think it's unfair to say they're not attracted to Crybaby, but it's a different sort of attraction. Crybaby is like.... like finding a really good dealer, Threat is attracted to what Crybaby can give them(sex) but not Crybaby herself. If that makes sense.

On to the meta...

So the long version of Threat's sex addiction is this: they were conceptualized as a character that only cares about Soap for one thing(sex) but doesn't care about him as a person, sort of as a mirror to Soap's own addiction to artists. So sex addiction was something I thought would be an easy "this is what you're doing to people" that I could use against Soap. Threat is not attracted to people, they're attracted to what they get out of people, the sex and the meal afterwards.

I think a lot of the way I think about Threat's asexuality and sex addiction comes from my own ideas on sex and sexuality which is that they are two completely different things. Having sex(or not having sex) is a physical thing that you do and really is only impacted by your sexuality in terms of who you have sex with. But even then there are a lot of circumstances that lead people to different sexual encounters. The thing Threat gets out of sex is the endorphin rush, they get the good happy feelings and the chemical dopamine release.

There's a lot about Threat's feelings about romance that impact their idea of sex, which also is impacted by their sexuality. Threat is what I would call demi or grey Romantic. They don't really have the right settings for romance, and finding Crybaby was a lot like finding a needle in a haystack. Threat views sex(and intimacy generally) as consumptive, as something they take without any real care fir the person they're having sex with. So Love also becomes consumptive, which is great for Crybaby who also views love in terms of bondage and consumption. Threat likes sex with Crybaby, but that also isn't why they're with her, they're with her because they've twisted up their own version of love with her.

Now with Soap it's a power thing. Threat is addicted to the power that they can get from Soap during and after sex. The fae trap on their back functions sort of like a repurpose-er taking the tethers that want to latch onto Threat and turning them into webs for Threat to pull magic off of(or cut people with depending). Threat is also a bit of an adrenaline junky so having Soap actively hunting them and also having sex with them is just great for all the nice chemicals lighting up their brain. The release is great, but Threat also gets some sort of reward after sex, be that magic or physical (blood and guts) food, which keeps them coming back for more and more and more.

Threat knows what to say and how to pretend they're attracted to people, but it's an act. They can pick out what other people would find attractive and compliment it, but they don't really get it. It's all a facade meant to lure people in so Threat can get what they want out of them.

Actually, in a way Threat is addicted to Crybaby... Crybaby is stable, she's a safe house, she'll always take Threat back and bare her neck, it's a power play for Threat and it works every time. Threat is not a powerful fae by any stretch, they're strong compared to humans but next to Soap they're barely on the same scale. Threat wants that power and sex is the best way they know how to get it.

So yeah idk if any of that makes sense, but anyway Threat has chemical imbalances that they're medicating with sex because Witch won't sell them weed and it's not like they're going to fall in love or feel any attachment to the people they're sleeping with so they have no qualms with murdering them afterwards. Crybaby is a romantic exception. Soap is an adrenaline exception. Threat is attached to Crybaby because they're in love with her, but that has nothing to do with sex. Actually if they stopped having sex that would be great for Threat because sometimes they really want to bite her head off afterwards...

Being friends with the some of the Barcelona squad is interesting to say the least but its so much fun and I would never give up my friendships with the team for anything. That being said we don't get to all spend time together very often as someone always has something to do but tonight by some miracle we are all free and have planned to hang out. I have had a very long and tiring week so I was considering not going but when I got a few texts about how excited everyone was I knew I couldn't not go. The one text that really solidified my fate was from Pablo as he is definitely the player I am closest to but we haven't seen each other in a little while and I knew he'd been really upset if I didn't turn up so I'm going for him. 

My relationship with Pablo is somewhat complicated. We have been really close since Pedri introduced us to each other always hanging out any chance we get but recently we have entered into a weird phase. For ages we always told people we were strictly friends even when our friends shipped us together but now Pablo has started to sort of flirt with me and has been a bit more touchy. I love it as I have had feelings for Pablo for a while but have just been too scared to say anything but I still don't dare mention anything just in case he doesn't actually have feelings for me. If there is one thing I've learnt about Pablo it is that he likes physical contact but recently I just feel like he has changed he used to rest his arm on my shoulder but now he will put it around my waist instead. He has also started greeting me with a kiss on the cheek which is a normal thing here but for us it’s a new thing. These things have me questioning what exactly our relationship is but I'm too scared to say something incase I lose him. 

Despite my dilemma with Pablo we are still really good friends so I agreed to pick him up on my way to Pedri's place where we would all be hanging out tonight. Like always he came running out and to my car and jumped in the passenger seat with a big smile on his face. Right away he launched into a conversation about what we have been doing since we last saw each other like we hadn't FaceTimed a few days ago having this exact conversation. Either way I was just happy to see him again as it has been far too long and I'll never get bored of hearing him talk about football as he's just so passionate about it. It didn't take us long to get to Pedri's and when we did I managed to find somewhere to park so that we could go in. In the few seconds I took to grab my car keys and my bag Pablo had run around the car to open my door for me which of course I thanked him for before we walked to Pedri's house. 

All of us sat catching up even though the guys see each other pretty much everyday I don't get to see them that often so we talked about what they have all been doing. We ate some food before the boys started playing fifa while I just sat and watched as I'm useless no matter how much they try and teach me. I don't mind just watching them I much prefer it actually as they are all far too competitive for my liking. Me not playing also meant I got to rest a bit to keep my energy levels up for the rest of the evening. I was sat next to Pablo with my head resting against the sofa for a while before he noticed and put an arm around me to move me closer and the making me rest my head on his chest. Any other day I'd be a bit more hesitant especially around all of our friends but tonight I'm so tried that I don't really care as much. Once I was settled he went right back to playing with his arm around me. 

Pablo was so comfy that I could have fallen asleep if it wasn't for the constant shouting from everyone when they were losing. I was also trying to subtly stare at Pablo as he played as I have always loved the way he looks when he's concentrating but he caught me a few times and just stared right back until we both ended up laughing as we can't be serious for too long. After they decided to stop playing Pablo went back to looking down at me and playing with some of my hair and probably messing it up but I didn't care. We were so in our own world that we didn't notice the guys taking pictures of us until both of our phones went off and we both looked to see pictures of us cuddling. I wanted to be mad but I just couldn't as I actually really liked the pictures and will probably save them when I am on my own later so no one knows. 

Despite liking the pictures it was still embarrassing for our friends to see us like that when we always say we are just friends so I hid my face further into Pablo's chest to avoid looking at anyone. Hiding my face also meant that Pablo didn't see that my cheeks were definitely bright red not just from embarrassment but also because I thought the pictures were cute. The guys kept making fun of us but Pablo tried to defend the both of us until they eventually stopped their teasing and instead suggested we go out for a walk. We all agreed to go but of course it took a good 20 minutes before anyone actually made any attempt to leave and when we did it ended up with a few of us waiting for the others by the door for another 10 minutes. 

"Y/n you know Pablo really does love you he just won't make a move as he's scared to ruin your friendship" Pedri said while we were waiting to leave 

"He's so smitten with you seriously you are all he ever talks about" Ferran added 

"Yeah right we are just friends and probably always will be" I said 

"We're being serious we know you like him too but he never going to make a move if you don't encourage him a little bit" Pedri said 

"I do like him but I don't want to ruin our friendship if things don't work out" I admitted 

"Believe us things will be just fine" Pedri said 

"What are you guys talking about?" Pablo asked as he walked over 

"Oh nothing important" I said quickly 

Luckily he dropped it easily and we headed out on our walk. It was a lot colder outside than I thought it would be but I knew I just had to deal with it and warm up when we got back. I haven't really experienced much of Barcelona at night as usually I only ever see it coming back from a game or somewhere else as I don't like to go out at night just to be safe. The city is really pretty at night though with so many lights illuminating the streets which are much quieter once the sun sets. Everyone else was talking but I was just enjoying the view while trying to keep as warm as possible. Eventually my concentration on the view failed as my hands began to shiver and my arms became covered in goosebumps and even my nose started to get cold. Pablo must have noticed me getting cold as he took his jacket off which he had on over his hoodie and tried to hand it to me. To begin with I refused but then he just started putting in on for me so I gave in and let him put the jacket on for me. It was a good decision in the end as not only did the jacket warm me up significantly but it also smelled like Pablo which was a great added bonus.

We walked around for a bit longer before coming across a completely empty park which is when Pablo grabbed my hand and pulled me toward a patch of grass. He sat down and so I sat down next to him to see what exactly we were doing seeing as he just dragged me over with no explanation. It all became clear when Pablo started point at the sky which was filled with bright stars. I have learnt a little bit about star constellations so I showed him the ones I recognised and told him the few things I know about space. It was so much fun as I have never shared this knowledge with anyone so it was nice to get to tell someone else about it as space is something I find really fascinating. 

Without realising as I was talking I got closer to Pablo to the point that I was leaning against him with my face just inches from his. When I realised how close we were I felt my cheeks heating up which I was hoping wouldn't be too noticeable but from that close Pablo will definitely be able to see the blush on my cheeks. Things got awkward quite quickly to the point that I couldn't take it anymore so I had to move away a bit and look in the other direction. That didn't last very long before Pablo was moving closer to me again and out a hand on my face to get me to look at him. We looked into each other's eyes for a few moments before Pablo leant down and pressed his lips to mine for the first time. The kiss was everything I imagined it to be Pablo's lips were soft against mine and the kiss was full of passion and emotion. Eventually we both pulled away and went back to looking at each other but this time we both had big smiles on our faces.

"What are we?" I eventually asked 

"We can be whatever you want but you should know that I have never felt this strongly for anyone else in my life but if you want to just stay friends I can get over it I just don't want to lose you" he admitted 

"I don't want to just be friends" I said 

"Then y/n will you be my girlfriend?" He asked 

"Of course I will" I replied 

He gave me another kiss and this time we heard cheering from the rest of the guys who were clearly spying on us. The moment was quickly ruined when they all came and sat with us and started teasing Pablo and making fun of him for taking so long to make a move. While most of the group were teasing Pablo I was talking to Frenkie who was showing me pictures they had all taken of us which were really cute. Frenkie sent me the pictures and I of course made one of them my phone lock screen then I stole Pablo’s phone and did the same even if he changes it later so people don’t see. Once the boys were done with their teasing we finally headed back to Pedri’s place where we hung out for a bit longer before I wanted to go back home and actually get some sleep. 

Of course Pablo came with me but I didn’t drop him off at his place we both went back to my apartment as now that he’s mine I don’t want to ever leave him. Luckily Pablo is just as clingy as I am because he was happy to stay the night despite both of us having things to do in the morning. As I was tired we both got straight into bed and I fell asleep pretty much straight away with Pablo cuddling me and playing with my hair.

It’s been a while since I properly read it, but I do really like the book. Though there are some inconsistencies with it and the show, like the students on VILE isle having connections to the outside world. Also the ending ISBFJBD. They arent super bothersome though.

Again, I love to see how Carmen feels about everything going on. she gets EXCITED when she’s learning about history, when she’s getting close to solving the mystery. she is weirded out by a rich billionaire. she MAKES FRIENDS WITH A DOG. she uses glowsticks and its so cute. Her interactions with Zack and Ivy are fun too! But my absolute FAVORITE part of the book is when Carmen and Player have this heart-to-heart, and we learn why Player got into hacking. its SO GOOD I LOVE THEM.

The other book I recommend is Clue By Clue by Catherine Hapka!

Again, its been a while since I read it, but I like this book too. There’s also some inconsistencies- this one’s ending is also funky but not as 👁👁 as the other one.

Seeing Carmen’s perspective is part of what I always love about the books. The Team Red interactions are great . IVY BUILDS A THING shes their mechanic fr. The book’s pretty funny, too- There’s one joke in particular from this book that i think about ALL THE TIME. Seeing Chase’s perspective is nice ig? but god i would KILL for a julia perspective. The book also goes into pirate history and how women were a part of that, which i appreciate. One part I particularly love is that based on context clues, you can figure when this book takes place in the show’s timeline!!

I love these books because theyre just FUN- they aren’t insane masterpieces or anything, but theyre creative and passionate and FUN. I think the authors of all three novelizations that I recommend are very smart and I lowkey wish they were on the CS show writing staff.

I cant believe Owl House is ending in two days ;-; I’m excited and sad and all sorts of things. Sad becuase its ending and its such a great show, BUT at the same time excited because, I want to see how the story ends! Dont we all with a story? Hopefully it has a happy ending. I mean theyve done very well despite being cancelled, theyve made the most of the time they had rather than gave up? I respect that, same with Infinity Train. They did the best they could in time they had, rather than “Ah slap any old thing together who cares.” I found Cage of eden and the Unfortunate events books dissapionting this way.

I always hoped I would finish this, but yknow how it goes sometimes. THIS is a Owl House “Little Mermaid Au”.

Luz is a mermaid princess, but, despite her royalty, people still mock her and see her as a piece that doesent fit. Other kids openly tease and call her “Luzer”, and even the advisors and royal court dont approve of her, she doesnet behave much less how a PRINCESS should.

King is her “Flounder” :) Her best friend and eager helper in her adventures and curiosties. But Queen Camilla grows worried over how Luz behaves and, decides to send her away to perhaps a sort of boarding school to teach her to be, better? Much like sending her to camp in the cartoon, or even Luca’s parents sending him to another part of the sea?(That part made me think of a young boy being sent to a monastary).

Meaning well but, nevertheless hurting her daughter... If, nobody wants her, not even her Mother, then, Luz feels maybe she should just dissapear? Run away?

The night she runs away she runs into Eda, the sea witch. Sea witches arent evil in this world, but people do assume so or look there nose down at them? There happy to go to them for spells and stuff but see them as lesser beings, second class citizens.

If the kid wants to run away, she ought to try the human world! Thats the place, the most fun, so much to explore. Eda still goes there, collectign objects, mingling amongst the humans... So, she takes Luz in, she has a shack on the land. She can switch her and Kings tails for legs easy!

Much like King Triton Camilla is fretful when Luz goes missing, blaming herself for her daughter running away.

Other characters to make an appearence will of course be Willow and Gus, and in there case, instead of admiring humans, its mermaids? Its so exciting to meet one!

Amity is a princess in this version, and very unhappy one at that. Under a lot of pressure from her mother, not able to be herself, more a pretty little wind up doll that is meant to do what shes told... But starts to break away from that, when meeting Luz. They start to fall in love, happiness. I think Hunter would be Amity’s guard? Luz is also in a spot of danger. MERMAIDS are held in high regard, as trophys. Possessing such a creature like a fish in a tank in your home is a great status symbol. If Odalia had any idea Luz was a mermaid she’d lock her up in there palace. Amity is naturally worried for her girlfriends safety.

kino 230503 live highlights (what I can remember at the top of my head):

- he worked on a song last night and then hui came to the company they just sat and talked for 2-3 hours, until like 5am. they were going to do this live together but because they didn’t sleep much hui needed a nap and went to sleep instead.

- they had a schedule this morning (secret!)

- kino saw the process behind both woodz’ and btob’s recent comebacks and likes and supports them both, and seeing them do well makes him happy and now ‘I’m confident that I’m next”

- going to paris meant a lot to him, and he hopes universe enjoy his kinowheres from there. he knows they arent fun/comedy content, but thinks there’s an audience for this too.

- he thinks it helps when in a foreign country, like france, to know “do you speak english” in the local language

- a uni told kino she got engaged and he was very excited for her and told her he wants to come and sing at the wedding (I happen to know this uni and she lives in stockholm .. don’t think this is happening💔)

- someone wrote a comment containing “ofc” and while kino thought it meant “of course” he looked it up and the first search result was “oxygen free copper”

- they’re preparing a lot for the japanese concert, not just the song selection but the ments and games they planned and prepared a lot for

- he wants to improve his japanese, but he feels less stressed ahead of these concerts because yuto will be there too

- to the question “will you perform unreleased songs in japan?” he said “maybe yes maybe no” with a smile

- he also played a snippet of an unreleased song

ill be real. theres a big boom of great games on gamepass rn and im having a ton of fun. if youre looking at trying something new, heres a list of ones i recommend:

garden story:

a cute little rpg adventure. you play as a little grape named concord and you have to single-handedly save the grove from rot. its fun and can be completed in about a day. plus the soundtrack is really fun! if you enjoy exploring the mines in stardew valley, then youll probably like this game.

jusant:

a charming game about climbing a pillar of land in the centre of what used to be the ocean. as you climb, you learn about what happened through notes left behind. its got an element of magic and in depth climbing mechanics that make it challenging and exciting! you also get a little guy who kinda looks frog shaped and thats important to me. its quite beautiful and the story is interesting!

minekos night market:

if you love a cozy game, this is definitely worth a try. it has some bad reviews because there was a misunderstanding in what it was meant to be but ive had a good time playing so far. you play as mineko, a kid whos moved to a new town with her dad, and youve got to gather resources and craft items to sell at the night market whilst also trying to uncover the mysteries of the island. its a simple story and has a lot of different minigames and activities to get up to.

a way out:

a couch co-op from the same people who did it takes two. you can also play this one online but the point is that its a co-op game. you and a friend play as vincent and leo, two inmates who have a plan to bust out of prison. it follows their prison-break and what they get up to once theyre out. me n my friend have had a ton of fun with this one!

frog detective:

you may have already heard of frog detective but its important for me to mention it anyway. it follows our protagonist, frog detective, and his journeys as he solves crimes (even though crimes arent real). its held up by its simple gameplay and witty dialogue. they were originally separate games but you can play the bundle on gamepass. if you need something chill to play, this is my suggestion.

Asuka has her eyes on the prize as soon as she steps foot on Ouran High School grounds. Her goal? Impress her father enough to convince him to let her remain as heir to the company instead of handing the title down to her younger brother. She knows going to school at Ouran will be one big chess game, especially coming in late at her second year- but she’s up for any challenge.

Asuka finds herself intrigued by the Host club and the inner workings of it. More than that, she sees untapped opportunities to grow her resume. Now all she needs is a partner on the inside who’s equally as motivated, and he was easier to find than she thought.

The overnight transformation that had taken place was quite astounding, actually. Asuka couldn’t help but be minutely impressed. 

As if she hadn’t slept at all, Renge had arrived the next day and given all the hosts a complete overhaul on their personalities. Though Asuka couldn’t help but sense something fishy about the whole thing— she had a thought on what to look up, but for now she was trapped under Renge’s fiery gaze as the rest of the boys ‘rehearsed’ around the room. 

“It needs to be big! A statement piece!” Renge declared. 

“Hmmm…” Asuka bit her bottom lip, “Usually the engagement ring is the statement piece if any…”

“The bride is always right.” Renge shot back. 

Asuka glanced up, she could now admit that phrase wasn’t as fun when it was being used against her. She sighed and tapped her pen on her notebook a few times before making a few new scribbles. 

“Okay, so, big diamond. Gold band. You could do more small diamonds around the big diamonds or…”

“Or?” Renge seemed to get excited. 

“Some rubies for a pop of color?” Asuka suggested as she turned the notebook around to face Renge. Important note, this was not her usual notebook. No, she’d decided to leave that one at home for however long Renge was here reigning terror. 

Renge squealed in delight.

“Oh perfect! It reminds me of that time I gave him a scarf! It was such a cold day-“

Renge’s tangent began to fall on deaf ears. Asuka glanced across the room, Tamaki seemed to be really getting into it. The twins as well, seemed that they were usually up for anything. Haninozuka and Morinozuka seemed reasonably uncomfortable with whatever lines they were rehearsing, while Fujioka stood idly by Kyouya— who had clearly given up on all of this and instead turned to his own notebook. 

“Alright, well!” Asuka exclaimed suddenly, cutting Renge off, “I really ought to get to ordering the materials for these rings since you want them expedited. You know how it is.” She shot Renge one of her very own fake smiles as she took back her notebook and shut it. 

“Of course!” At the sound of the rings being made, Renge seemed to lose any anger she might’ve had over being cut off, “I’ll give you a free copy of our movie as a token of my thanks for getting everything done so fast!”

“Gee! Thanks!” Asuka stood, “Goodbye now!” 

With that, she once again rushed towards the door.

“What the hell was it called…” Asuka’s finger tapped the table relentlessly. 

“Can you give me some details?” Mayu asked from next to her. 

They sat in Ouran’s computer lab. It was a recent addition, she’d found out after finding it but not seeing it on a map of the school. But it made sense, Ouran was meant to have all the best facilities for its students— so of course it would have some brand new computers too. Even if students seldom came down here. 

“Uhg… it was something really otaku-ish. Like…Yuki Doki?” 

“Uki Doki Memorial?” 

Asuka quickly typed the words into the search bar and sure enough, a dating sim popped up. Though the look of the characters only questionably looked like the rest of the guys, Kyouya definitely looked quite recognizably like one of the dateable characters. 

“Huh. If she already had a few screws loose it’s no wonder she got confused.” Asuka thought aloud to herself before snapping over to look at Mayu, “Wait. How did you know that?” 

Mayu looked sheepish for a moment, “I like to play dating sims, okay? They’re just nice sometimes. Maybe you should try one.” 

“Like this one?” Asuka asked incredulously. 

“God no.” Mayu laughed, “Uki Doki Memorial is awful. The character archetypes are so bland and yet so over the top at the same time. You feel like you’re talking to cardboard half the time.”

Asuka snorted and then looked back to the computer, adding the word ‘plot’ after her initial search of Uki Doki Memorial. She quickly found a forum that offered a decently plot summary and hmm’d to herself, leaning back in her chair. 

“It’s just like I thought.” She whipped out her phone. 

“What?”

Renge is making you guys reenact Uki Doki Memorial’s plot line, btw. Ouran Host Club copyright scandal?? :-( 

She added the last part facetiously, hoping that it might buy even an exhale from Kyouya— but who knew. With how wacky Renge was, it very well could become an issue. 

“Oh my god- what!? Spill! Who are you texting about Uki Doki Memorial!?” Mayu suddenly leaned over and grabbed her phone. 

“Hey!” 

“From Kyouya Ootori: Figures. Thanks. I’ve got it under control. Meet me at the school at noon on Saturday.” Mayu gasped incredulously, holding Asuka’s phone close to her chest as she reached out to try and swipe it from her, “Asuka! Secret rendezvous?!” 

“It’s not like that!” Asuka shot back, making another attempt at her phone. 

“You’re meeting up with Kyouya Ootori in secret on a weekend after having many strange encounters that you mysteriously won’t tell me about and you want me to believe it’s ‘not like that’” Mayu put up air quotes, at which point Asuka was able to snatch her phone back. 

“It’s not.” Asuka reasserted, “We’re working together on something.”

“What did you even text him about before? You just wanted to tell him he looked like this guy?” Mayu jabbed a finger at the screen that still displayed Uki Doki Memorial, “Oh my god! Did you want to play Uki Doki Memorial because Kyouya looks like him!?”

“No! Mayu!” Asuka clacked her phone shut and tossed it onto the table, grabbing her friend’s arm and tugging her closer, “No. No. No. One million times no.”

Mayu looked at her suspiciously. Asuka sighed and let go, leaning back in her chair again. 

“You remember the kind of crazy girl that showed up at the end of the Host Club session yesterday?” Asuka asked. 

“Yeah.” Mayu responded, wide eyed in wonder as her friend seemed to finally share some information with her. 

“Well, she came in and pretty loudly declared that Kyouya was her long lost love and that they were engaged.” Mayu gasped appropriately, “But she let it slip that she was obsessed with this dating sim and this guy-“ now it was her turn to jab a finger at the screen, “-so we figured she deluded herself into thinking she was engaged to Kyouya.” 

“Okay…” Mayu trailed off, “But why-“

“I’m not even done yet.” Asuka cut her off, “I got in trouble with her because I laughed when she called Kyouya her Prince Charming, so I got sucked into their weird after club meeting by her. Just when I’m about to leave, she suddenly declares that she knows I’m a Kaneko and I’m now in charge of making her and Kyouya’s wedding rings.”

Mayu giggles, but stays silent. 

“Today I go in to, I don’t know, pretend I’m designing their wedding rings— and she’s got all of them running lines. She’s like, completely overhauled the club, given them all new personalities and whatever. While I was working with her, I realized that there was no way she came up with all this overnight and managed to come in with that much energy this morning. So I decided to look up the Uki Doki Memorial plot and…” Asuka ends her tale by gesturing to the screen once more. 

“She’s using the Host Club to recreate Uki Doki Memorial?” Mayu concludes in amazement, “Wow. She does sound nuts.” 

“I know.” Asuka nods confidently. 

“So you were texting Kyouya to tell him what you found out?”

“Precisely.”

Mayu sits back and thinks for a moment. 

“But why do you care?” 

“What?” 

“I mean all you had to do was leave. You could’ve even said no to Renge asking you to design the rings. You’re just a customer, it’s none of your business.” 

Asuka sighs. Mayu can be mighty observant, sometimes she forgets that. And now wasn’t really the appropriate point to tell her she’d actually entered a business contract with Kyouya Ootori— she wasn’t sure her friend would be able to keep quiet about that one. 

“Listen. I can’t tell you a lot, but I can tell you that I’m less of a customer and more of uhh… glorified set dressing.” She cringes inside as she uses the phrase again. At least it seemed a fine enough excuse. 

Mayu didn’t laugh like she’d expected. Instead, her friend looked a little sad. 

“What?” Asuka asked, “Is this another ‘I have no girlish whimsy’ thing?” 

“No.” Mayu responds, “I just wish you would tell me things instead of hiding them from me.” 

Ouch. Asuka reached out and grabbed Mayu by the hands. 

“Mayu, I promise you that the only reason I’m not telling you is because I literally can’t.” Mayu looked up at her, “As soon as I can tell you what’s going on, you will be the first to know. I promise.” Asuka let go of her hands and held up a pinky. Mayu scrutinized it. 

“If I’m to accept this pinky promise, I have a few rules.” Mayu responds haughtily. 

Asuka rolls her eyes playfully, “Alright. Let’s hear it.”

“Until you tell me what you’re up to, I’m allowed to speculate on what you’re doing allll I want and you can’t get mad at me for it.” Mayu smirks. 

“Seems simple enough.” Asuka shrugs. 

Mayu quickly reaches out with her own pinky and confirms the swear before standing and slinging her bag over her shoulder in record speed. 

“I think you’re actually in an arranged marriage with Kyouya Ootori and you aren’t allowed to tell anyone until you’ve signed the papers!” She exclaims before dashing away to the door of the computer lab. 

“What!?” Asuka cries out, scrambling to log out and grab her own bag and stand, dashing over to try and catch up to Mayu. 

Mayu laughs at her and slips out the door, leaving Asuka to chase after her— doing their best not to slip on the tile floors.

Heyyyy this is genesis creation story anon- ty fr giving me permission to ramble more about biblical stuff haha this is definitely an area I don’t have as much knowledge of and its very complicated so take this with a decent grain of salt (also this will be long sorry) but basically: The second coming is part of xtian eschatology where Jesus comes back for the final judgement and establishes his kingdom. The details of this have changed a lot over time and between subsets of xtianity. (1/7)

In the gospels jesus talks about how the Son of Man will soon come and bad things will happen to the wicked, and the righteous will be a part of Gds kingdom on earth (with JC as king). Xtians generally see the SoM stuff as jesus talking about himself in 3rd person. The implication from the gospels and paul’s letters is all this was expected to happen very soon- jesus is quoted as saying ‘this generation will not pass away’ before the SoM comes and paul expected it to happen in his lifetime. (2/7 Later writings like the gospel of john arent as big on the immediacy of this. The book of revelation gets into this in much greater detail, using 1st century Jewish apocalyptic imagery which is pretty wild to read, and describes Jesus doing some pretty horrific things to the ppl he doesn’t like and establishing Gd’s kingdom on earth. (3/7) At some point in the 1800s someone decided something from one of pauls letters meant that the good ppl would get raptured up into heaven and so be spared from some or all of the terrible things happening on earth. Those who had already died would be resurrected and join in on the being raptured thing. (4/7) Certain sections of xtianity today have very specific theologies wrt when the rapture, the tribulation (7yrs of horrible things happening on earth) and the millennium (1000yr reign of JC) will happen compared to each other. I think most ppl go for the rapture-> trib -> millenium timeline. (5/7) Theres also different opinions on whether or not ppl can get saved during the tribulation or if youre screwed if you haven’t already given yourself to christ by that point it all gets messy and very specific. also wrt Metatron being human- one of the books of enoch has enoch become Metatron after Gd takes him! very fun idea I love it (6/7) (Also side bar that revelation is written in 1st century israel about 1st century israel the beast/whore/666/616 stuff is all about rome and nero ppl need to stop getting excited about awful things happening in the world and saying it means JC is coming back its weird and shitty) (7/7)

Thoughts on Morrison's Doom Patrol

overall i really enjoyed the whole run, it had its ups and downs, and it particularly annoyed me when the stories were EXTRA incomprehensible (namely the story about rhea and the weird alien war), but when morrison got going in actually telling a whole narrative i really love the concepts and characters he uses.

i love the whole of the cast, cliffs fun as ever, rebis is really interesting and a very groundbreaking character in the medium (and to this day frankly), jane was probably grants favorite from the run, tho i think i like her better in the show, mainly cuz in the show theres more of a focus on the other alters that arent jane that morrison doesnt really care to develop much at all, the twist of the chief was of course famous and infamous, i have mixed feelings on it particularly as someone that loves the original pre-crisis doom patrol books but as someone that loves especially devious characters like that, dorothy and joshua were both incredibly underused. joshua basically did nothing the whole run and then was killed off which sucked, and dorothy barely got any panel time until the very end, but it looks like pollacks run gives her a lot more focus which im incredibly excited for. i still hate that rita is the only original member that wasnt brought back (until infinite crisis) and morrison in particular when they do bring her up is very.... almost spiteful of her, in trying to turn her into a sex object thats fairly exclusive to her in this book, and again sucks when compared to the original series where rita was probably the most daring member of the bunch. and danny of course is such a fun character, and i genuinely felt sad when candlemaker was destroying him (and yeah danny uses he/him in the book which i almost didnt expect cuz of the show)

for actual plotlines, the ones i liked were the red jack plotline, the plots involving NOWHERE and the ant farm, the second mr nobody plot where hes running for president which actually did manage to get quite a few laughs out of me, and of course the candlemaker plotline (which coincided with the evil chief plot)

the ones that i particularly disliked were mainly the first brotherhood of dada, and the rhea storyline mainly cuz theyre particularly hard to follow and on the longer side. theyre also some of the wordier stories in the whole run, and theyre mostly words that dont make any sense and arent meant to make sense which made them an absolute drain on the mind to even skim let alone fully read

for how the run compares to the show, id say the show takes the whole run, gets most of the message across, and actually manages to make it make sense and have a more cohesive throughline. it also surprised me reading the run after watching all the show episodes to date just how closely the show follows the book in specific storylines, especially in the story about cliff going to the underground and how close Jane Patrol is to that, and id say jane patrol even improves on it by expanding it the way it does.

id say neither medium does amazingly with dorothy, and i wish the show included rebis at all, altho the influence is there, just replacing the transness and nonbinary aspect of rebis to a gay larry trainor, with a complicated relationship with the negative spirit. cliffs exactly the same between show and book they nailed him, niles as i knew is a lot less sympathetic in the book, but what really surprised me overall is how much less harsh jane is in the book. usually its the other way around where an adaptation will soften the edges of a particularly gritty/dark character but with jane they did the opposite, taking the base thats in the book, and giving her a lot more focus and making her downright meaner and less approachable than she is in the book, and i really love that take on her and think it makes her a much more interesting character, paired with the focus on the other alters the show provides.

even tho i cant get it physically i am starting to read pollacks run on dc infinite and 1. im excited to meet kate and 2. im VERY excited at the prospect of dorothy getting more of a focus than morrison gave her, hopefully i finish it and maybe a reread of other doom patrol runs before the shows last episodes premier

I have lots of feelings about this okay and half of them come from rage over the number of people who have children to fill a void or fix themselves then don't take care of them.

but like Yen says she wants to be important to someone and watching her arc it feels more like she wants to be safe and loved. she gets the safe part with her power which is why she is so desperate in season two. she knows the extent of human cruelty knows no bounds and it is fucking terrifying to her when she has no magical power to protect herself. she doesn't believe she's found the love aspect of it though. and tbf she hasn't. not yet and not a healthy one in either geralt or istredd

but i think it would be fun and also kinda evil to give her exactly what she wants and watch her realize this wasn't what she meant.

kids are HARD and i bow to anyone who raises kids. shit is ROUGH. and sometimes they don't love you back. and certainly not all the time! like if yen is looking for that sense of purpose and security and doesn't find in it motherhood bc motherhood isn't anything like she expected it would be really interesting? like newborns arent all that cute and motherhood isn't glamorous when you haven't slept more than two hours at a time in months if not years and a whore's bath is as good as you've been able to sneak in in the last week. diaper blow outs and gassy babies and spit up and being peed on and fighting a kid into x piece of clothing fucking SUCKS. the worry and fear first time moms can get is fucking debilitating.

bc she clearly wasn't taken care of well if at all as a child, and i doubt her step father let her close to her half siblings so like, does she really know what goes into raising children? other than the things she remembers that traumatized her? but lots of us remember things that traumatized us as just 'how you deal with x behavior' in kids until someone else points it out. and who is gonna do that? geralt? ciri? jaskier? lmao no. no one would know.

in conclusion i want to push yen to the fucking brink so she does some work to be okay with herself and doesn't take her shit out on her kid

just saying if ciarán had a fredbears family diner era robot fursona animatronic counterpart it would 100% be a fox . like even if foxy wasnt already a thing in canon he would still be one it just makes sense. its so very Him. like how spring bonnie really fits with will as a person [ rabbit symbolism, like how i spoke on in an earlier post ] and fredbear fits henry so well [ protective father i.e. "mama/papa bear" plus literally physically being categorized as a bear ... ] i just. the fox symbolism is so very ciar and he would so love to have a fox animatronic based on him.

i specifically see it as a fennec fox?? like with the big ol ears and such?? also to fit with the fredbear / spring bonnie color scheme . and i could also see it being sort of the "prequel" to foxy just as how fredbear and spring bonnie are usually considered the first freddy and bonnie models.

now i know it would make little to no actual sense for him to have an animatronic based off him considering the fact that will + henry have theirs because theyre the co-owners of the company and hes like . tangentially involved at best. but like. man. i just know that man would genuinely enjoy using his little fox suit to entertain the customers sososo much.

hed totally take the chance to slip back into his irish accent and exaggerate it while hes in costume because the kids love it and he hardly ever gets to use it in his day to day life anymore and he would love every second of it. like i know with how much he takes after will the suit would probably end up not being used fully for its intended purpose but like!! he would genuinely just enjoy having it so much!!

hes such a people person as long as the people arent getting in his way so he would love love love to have a little mascot suit he could have fun in . like genuine wholesome excitement here. i know those suits do NOT have a good history but god he would love it. this is what i meant by filling in that thing about him being a "performer" in that one type bingo that one time. he genuinely loves being in the spotlight and having a dedicated springlock suit just for him would let him do that without worrying too much about being in the public eye and i just. augh
