yk I totally thought I did him the first time around but I didn’t

anyways KYOYAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! MY OG FAV!!!!!!!!!! He was my favorite in second grade bro I’ve always been mentally ill abt him. He was my favorite for a while before Zeo beat him out but he is still my 2nd fav <3 (I’m sure he would hate to hear that lmao)

I will say, I think Kyoya was the best character of fusion but afterwards, his writing went downhill imma be real with you. Masters he felt a little one dimensional at times (though I do love him and wild fang) but then fury,,,,, I wanted to punch him the whole time FURY COMPLETELY MASSACRED HIM I STAND BY THAT. HE WAS WAY MORE OF AN ASSHOLE THAT WHOLE SEASON THAN HE HAD ANY RIGHT BEING AND IT MAKES ME SO UPSET. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THERE WAS LIKE,,, VERY LITTLE REACTION FROM OTHER CHARACTERS AND ARGRGRGGGRGR IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING. I wanted Nile to go apeshit on him so badly you have no idea. He deserved to.

Ok I just needed to get that out of my system NOW TO WHAT I ACTUALLY LIKE ABOUT HIM

First of all, his development in Fusion was just chefs kiss. SO GOOD. I think about it constantly. I cant even put it into words but like. Seeing him at the start of fusion, then to be manipulated by doji and seeing him hit rock bottom, lashing out at everyone was just,,,, hrrrnendnrn. His early development especially tied in with benkei was so good because like, even though he was still a bad guy, we see that he wasn’t like, horrible. Like in Benkeis flashback to when they first met, Kyoya isn’t completely one sided at the start. He’s a strong, determined character, and he has a great respect for the people who earn it and I love that. But after doji, seeing the way he completely breaks and goes off the walls, and specifically how he abandons and hurts benkei is so heartbreaking. I feel like you can tell where his character is at any given moment based on how he treats benkei and that really peaks there. His development though, his realization that he is worthy of forgiveness after everything and is allowed to be friends with others and build those friendly bonds is just so good. He’s such a passionate person and even though he still is snappy and standoffish, he still has that softness that he’s willing to show. He really does just feel like an angsty teen most of the time. He wants to be aggressive and hate everything and everyone but his genuine passion and care for others comes out too much for him to be able to fully put that front on. I love how much characters help him and how he helps them in turn. He’s flawed and aggressive but at his core, hes an extremely passionate and honorable person and many of the other characters can see that. I’ve been mentioning this a lot lately, but I specifically love his dynamic with Tsubasa in fusion and battle bladers specifically. It frustrates him to see someone like Tsubasa not put his whole heart into beyblade and goddammit he tells him that straight up. He ignites that passion in Tsubasa and clearly enjoys seeing it and oh my goshshshhsbdndbdbcnfjd I love them so much

AND THATS ONLY TALKING ABOUT FUSION. I don’t have as much to say about him in masters because as I said, I think his character started falling a little flat here, but he still shined a lot. I think this more than ever showed how passionate he truly is and that really comes forward when he puts his all into everything, especially his eventual fight with Gingka. Him coming back at the end was really nice and I forever appreciate that one line he has about the incompetence of adults lmao.

And of course, the real star of the show here for me, HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH NILE. MY GOD I AM SO ILL ABOUT THEM. They’re bond is immediately built on a strong mutual respect for each other and honestly it is incredible how instantly they click. With so many other characters, there was at least a little bit of animosity at first between them, but besides a brief moment where he thinks Nile is going to run away from battles, they get along INSTANTLY. Nile matches Kyoya’s energy so perfectly and they just go together so well. I also love how much pride Kyoya holds in Nile. Like, when Nile battles Masamune, Kyoya absolutely lights up. He’s so riled up to see someone who he knows is incredible and strong really get to put that on display and every time in that battle it cuts back to him, he just has the biggest, proudest smile and I think that’s just beautiful. I love how well these two mesh together and that is why it gets especially frustrating in fury when Kyoya says he doesn’t work with anyone and blah blah blah RIGHT IN FRONT OF NILE AND NILE DOESNT EVEN SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I just want more of them dude they’re so good together.

He’s a force to be reckoned with even among the upper class

So if at his suggestion a certain student might be expelled or even drop out of the school because of bullying

If you even begin to suspect that Tamaki is behind any of this Haruhi will assure you there’s no way

Taking a page out of Kyoya’s book she’ll create some mad up reason as to why this is completely unrelated

Or when the classmate who confessed to you

was called away by Tamaki later on in the day

And somehow ended up having drowned in the fountain

Haruhi will cite some other students who bullied them that must have gone too far

Though it’s not likely he’ll go that far normally

But sometimes love just makes you do crazy things

She won’t tell you about all his great traits

Otherwise you’d notice far too fast

For so long she’s been pushing him away

Besides she kind of likes the hurt look he gives her when she writes him off

But she absolutely is willing to manipulate Tamaki, The Host club, Lobelia

Anyone she needs to if it means spoiling you

She’ll harp on anyone’s desire to gain her favor by practically demanding they invite you too

But if you’re busy she’ll just try and bring home things you like

Or she’ll convince the host club if they’re still fighting for her affections to practically smother you with attention

But refusing won’t end well

This took forever to think about.

Ciel as Haruhi, R!Ciel as Tamaki, Sebastian as Kyoya, Claude as Mori, Alois as Honey, Soma and Agni as the twins. Soma as Hikaru, Agni as Kaoru (it made most sense but my fujo brain wanted agni to be the seme...)

Despite Soma and Agni being the brocons, they aren't the most popular duo. That's Ciel and R!Ciel. A teasing older twin, and a shy younger twin.

Alois is more-so a mix of Shiro and Honey. He isn't the innocent type Honey is, but goes for the dynamic of Honey. For girls that wish for a cute boy to dote on. He has a naughtier, playboy personality like Shiro.. as shown at the end of that episode he's in.

This club is known for being quite.. taboo. Only the girls that were known for being naughty or improper went there, or the girls too shy to admit it. Sometimes, even boys or GNC people as well! Everyone gets treated the same though.

You'd be welcomed with a kiss to the hand from Sebastian, leading you to a table for you to sit at. Ciel will be the one to ask who you'd wish to schedule.

If you pick Ciel, he'll be quite sweet to you. He'll be kind, brushing his hand through your hair sweetly. He'll offer you his favorite candies, telling you that he doesn't share with just anyone. You're special! If you want, he'll let you have a taste of his favorite lollipop. Then, he'd like the exact same spot you did for an 'indirect kiss'.

If you pick R!Ciel, he's much more flirty. He'll always have a hand on you unless you explicitly say no. On your arm, holding your hand, in your hair, on your knee. He'll rest his head on your shoulder, taking in your scent. Whether it be your natural one or some perfume or cologne you put on, he doesn't care. He loves your smell, and will let you know that fact.

If you pick Sebastian, he'll act, unsurprisingly, like a butler for you. But a more daring one. He'll hold your tea cup as you drink, he'll wipe your mouth sensually, he'll feed you. He makes sure everything you have in your mouth is perfect, and the smallest complaint you have will leave him apologizing and treating you 10x better. His compliments are very unique, and always leave you flushed beyond belief.

Picking Alois will leave you almost as flustered as Sebastian. Perhaps it's the taboo, but the way he'd curl up in your lap and ask for pets is adorable. He treats you, of course, but his cute little face is irresistible. Twirling his soft hair while Claude watched in the distance, making sure everything was going okay. Alois called you his big sibling, or one of his parents. He loves seeing how flustered you get.

Picking Claude is practically a two for one deal. Alois is almost always at his side, clinging onto him, looking at you with a pout of jealousy. Claude is a much more professional butler role, his advances being more subtle. But you expect it, so every movement he makes always leaves you flustered. Whether it be the slightest graze of his hand on yours, or perhaps he breathed a little too hard on you. He knew how to tease, and he did it well.

Soma and Agni, however, are a 2 for 1. Without Agni, Soma is nothing. Without Soma, Agni is nothing. So you kind of have to get both... which Ciel and R!Ciel decided to price down to be the same cost as everyone else. They're more seductive, almost worshiping you, in a way. Soma will hug you from behind, Agni praising you, on his knees for you, stroking your legs. One time, the two bickered about who would do the worship. Agni begged to be the one, as the prince shouldn't be on such dirty floors.

Of course, it ended up in brocon fanservice.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you like that, my prince.." Agni whispers, wiping a tear from Soma's eye. Crocodile, of course.

The other's merely watched in curiosity, confusion, or interest.

❄｜kyouya x reader where you're both forced to marry under your families' order. 1.7k words. this doesn't follow the canon for the events after the ouran graduation.

the noiret paced around his room in uneasiness. he knew one day his freedom would be cut short, he'd been waiting for that day, but he also had learnt to have the slightest, stupidest hope that his father's newfound respect for him had changed things.

he wonders, however, how he of all people could have been so naïve.

outside, the fairies of the winter had been drawing pretty little drawings of ice on the edges of his windows, as if to try and distract his racing mind from the events that would unfold the second he got out of his room. he was used to the noise of social events, the people chatter and the pressure of socialising, so this should be nothing for him, right?

right.

he didn't understand this feeling. it wasn't that he necessarily hated an arrangement for marriage, life would go on whether or not it would happen.

looking at the fairies' drawings of comfort one last time, he took a deep breath and exited his room to leave for the wedding venue without a word.

the car ride was uncomfortable. his family had already arrived so they weren't there to talk his ear off and the bride would come some time after than he did as the tradition goes. he had time left to think and contemplate again and again.

he looked down at his tuxedo. the bride requested that if she wasn't able to marry of her own free will, that she at least get to have her dream wedding. not a bad deal, kyouya thought. their outfits had been in matching colours, and both were over-the-top decorated. he felt slightly embarrassed at the outfit, but it wasn't anything too extreme in comparison to what he wore in highschool. the only concern was that his whole family and many important people would be there, though he swallowed that as well, as he'd been doing the entire year of the wedding preparation.

he'd met his fiancée plenty of times in that year. the first time they met was at his university graduation. she was smiling brightly standing next to his sister who rushed to hug him and congratulate him. he remembers her bowing politely and introducing herself, before his father stepped in to explain the situation. he remembers the slight surprise on her face at the lack of comments about his sons' achievements.

the next time they met was at a museum. his sister had advised him to ask her on a date so they could get to know each other. she was intelligent, charismatic, and he couldn't deny her face was pleasant to look at. her interest in history was a plus - at least she had an interesting characteristic.

their second date was a dinner at a restaurant, only the best to serve the ootoris. she'd picked steak and juice - quickly explaining she doesn't drink at the slight raise of his eyebrow. he nodded and changed his own wine order to juice as well. 'you don't have to do that!' she rushed but he assured her he's just being considerate of his fiancée. he never forgot how to be a gentleman.

the fifth date she asked to meet at a commoners' shopping mall to show him around. kyouya wasn't surprised by this. he'd learnt early on from his investigation on potential wife that she'd been adopted into the l/n family due to some sort of an affair. despite it being well-known, the gossip around the situation wasn't very clear, so he decided to wait until she talked about it instead.

at some point down the road, the two had become something akin to friends, and although not very close, y/n claimed she was satisfied with the bond they'd created regardless of its strength.

nine months later, he now is at the altar, bouquet in hand, a performative smile for all the guests to admire - until a beautiful woman comes through with her arm linked to her father's.

the ceremony didn't last long, the after-party however? most guests had already left but the couples' friends continued to act like it was the last day of their lives. the bridesmaids' laughter and his friends' drunk dance moves tired kyouya, but he was having fun, so what's another night sleepless?

a tap in his shoulder by his wife.

"you okay? you seem tired. we can call it a night." she exclaimed into his ear through the music. he'd read enough women's blogs to understand what that meant.

even if he wasn't tired, she was, and that was a roundabout way of telling him. what sort of husband disobeys his wife?

the second they got to their new house, y/n rushed to the bed and flopped on it like a sack. she had no energy to get changed or move, instead asking kyouya 'if they could complete their duties the next day, nobody was rushing them anyway'. kyouya he helped her out of her dress and comatosed with her in peace.

the next morning, nobody bothered to wake the couple. soon they'd leave for their honeymoon anyway. everything happened way too quickly and kyouya didn't know how to handle it. the weeks passed, and he refused to communicate any issues to his wife that weren't work or family related. he felt conflicted, but he didn't know about what. the woman lying next to him was kind, beautiful, clever. what right did he have to complain?

i mean, what did it matter if he didn't feel any connection in bed? why would it matter if she had a disappointed look on her face whenever he had to cut their time short? would it make any difference if he had an heir later and ignored his parents' whines about it? it was a tough thing to do, but each time he failed to satisfy his wife, it felt like a stab in the chest wounding his male ego. so did it really matter that he was away for long periods of time? it was a marriage of convenience, after all, and she wasn't missing out on anything.

the sobbing man in your arms reminded you of a younger version of him. years ago, on your third anniversary when he'd planned a trip to chongqing because he remembered you saying you always wanted to go. during your two week stay, he got wine tipsy at dinner and eventually drunk by nighttime, spilling feelings he'd kept to himself for years.

he'd kneeled in front of you, furiously crying in your lap as he held your legs tightly, begging you not to leave because he could feel himself changing and neglecting his personal life.

you'd carried him to bed and admired his face as he fell asleep, naïvely thinking that this was just a rough patch and he'd go back to putting effort in just like he did in chongqing.

but the years passed and he proved to you his fears were legitimate.

"sure, let's try again kyouya." you patted his back when he held you in even tighter. "but this time we're trying counselling, okay?" you giggled, trying to light up the mood.

he pulled back and gave a tiny smile when you wiped his cheek.

"whatever my wife says." he caressed your hair. "let's stay married, okay? i don't want to lose you."

he didn't say the three words, but that was okay. it didn't matter much. romance could wait, because you knew you loved him more than a woman in a cheesy romcom would. you loved his soul, and you wanted nothing more than to see him bloom.

"let's stay married, kyouya. happy birthday."

it was a new beginning for the both of you and you had nothing but time on the horizon.

Tamaki Suoh

🌸 Tamaki is obviously very flamboyant in nature and super pushy, but he’s also the sweetest man you’ve ever met.

🌸 And sure he puts on that show for the host club ladies, but you aren’t a host club lady, you never were. You used to despise Tamaki Suoh.

🌸 But then one day, he watched a group of boys mess with you in the courtyard, and he didn’t just stand by.

🌸 After kicking one guy to the ground, He threatened all of them, using his father’s power against them (a move he learned from Kyoya), and sent the boys running with their tails between their legs.

🌸 After that, you decided to take time to get to know Tamaki. Being his girlfriend though, that was a secret to anyone outside of direct host club members.

🌸 And they all loved you. You’d get to hang out with them. Being in the same class as Tamaki and Kyoya, you spent most of your time with them during the day.

🌸 But host club hours were your favorite part.

🌸 Tamaki would find some time to sneak away with you and just hold you for a moment, just so you knew he loved you.

🌸 He’d bring you flowers every Saturday, always your favorites of course. He’d love to take you out on food dates and shopping trips, he’d love to buy you things.

🌸 But most of all, Tamaki loved holding your hand. 🌸 You’re the first girl he’s truly loved, and he loves being able to do simple things like walk down a street together.

🌸 He’d play piano for you, all the time. The songs he’d play would tell you how he was feeling that day, but whether you knew it or not, moments like this he spent with you were the best part of his day.

Kyoya Ootori

🌸 Kyoya is a man that hardly shows any kind of happiness. That being said, you truly enamored him when the two of you first met.

🌸 You had met outside of Ouran entirely. Fuyumi had extended an invite to the Ootori group’s Christmas party to one of her friends from work. They would be bringing a sister, and that was all Kyoya knew.

🌸 But then he met you. And you took his breath away. Of course, Kyoya is the cool type, so he’s going about this super chill.

🌸 He’ll first ask you your name, and then he’ll compliment how lovely that sounds, repeating it back to you, making your heart race.

🌸 But after he gets your phone number, he’d start calling you to ask you out on dates. He’d take you to all kinds of beautiful places like butterfly sanctuaries and botanical gardens.

🌸 After he’d ask you to be his girlfriend though, he’d start going the extra mile just for you. He’d take you to far away cities you’ve never seen before when you’d both have the time off from school.

🌸 He’d love exploring new cities with you as well, places he’s never been. He loves having opportunities like this with you, sharing these experiences together makes these memories feel that much more special.

🌸 I feel like Kyoya’s love language would be gift giving and words of affirmation. He’d love to give you gifts and then tell you how much you mean to him.

🌸 During class hours, he’d pass you notes. Little notes with doodles of you. They’d say some little compliment on them, something about how your hair looks today or how radiant your smile was.

🌸 In private, Kyoya was very touchy. He loved hugs believe it or not, but only your hugs. He’d lay with you for a while and just play with your hair.

🌸 When it came to the host club, Kyoya would try to keep you as far away from the band of idiots as he could.

🌸 But you’d always sneak in for a little piece of cake and some time with Kyoya, and he never truly minded it.

Hikaru Hitachiin

🌸 We all know that Hikaru is insecure. He does know how to be confident, but when it comes to himself and his romantic feelings, he doesn’t know what to do.

🌸 He asks you to go on a little shopping date with him, and you agreed. He was surprised you had said yes, but after that it became a regular thing.

🌸 He loved watching you try on clothes, he’d compliment you in every single outfit you tried on. He thought you were ethereal.

🌸 And once you were his girlfriend, he’d surprise you with endless outfits he’d love to see you wear on your dates with him. Some of them were really well put together, while others were….too promiscuous.

🌸 He’d love to go on coffee dates with you, too. He’d even plan trips for the two of you to other cities just so you two could experience coffee in new places together.

🌸 And he’d also love to go on beach dates with you. He’d fly out to Okinawa just for a day with you in the water.

🌸 Hikaru loves to talk about himself, but he swears that there is nothing more interesting than what you have to say. If you’re telling him a story of your past, he will remember every detail.

🌸 Hikaru’s love language is definitely physical touch as well as quality time, so he’d love to have his hands on you at all times.

🌸 Linking arms when walking in the street, always snuggling you close to him when he’s asleep, sitting with his arm around you or with his hand in yours, he just loves knowing you’re right next to him.

🌸 Hikaru would definitely have those moments of self doubt and anxiety, and when he did they could get rough.

🌸 On one occasion he had said something that made you cry, but he snapped out of it quick after seeing the tears roll down your face.

Kaoru Hitachiin

🌸 Kaoru is the soft spoken, easygoing twin. Haruhi DID say that Hikaru was the mischievous one.

🌸 But Kaoru is a little more sure of himself than Hikaru is. And when he realized he had feelings for you, he didn’t wait to ask you out on a date.

🌸 Kaoru likes to do fun educational things I feel like. He’d take you to a planetarium or an art museum.

🌸 Or, he’d take you out to a festival. Kaoru loves dressing up with you for them, he’d have his mother make an extra matching kimono for you.

🌸 He’s definitely the type of man to take you out on picnic dates and hand feed you strawberries. You’d eat, and then he’d let you lay with your head on his lap while you both digested.

🌸 Kaoru would also like to take you out on trips, but he definitely is more of a middle-of-nowhere type of guy. He’d rather take you to the mountains of Norway or to a huge forest house in America, but he is still down to go on trips like Rio de Jenario or Berlin.

🌸 His love languages are also probably physical touch and words of affirmation.

🌸 You’ve seen how close Kaoru is with Hikaru, it’s only natural that Kaoru will also be touchy with you. He loves to simply hold your hand for the most part when you two go out.

🌸 But when you’re alone, Kaoru is the best snuggler. He loves to be big spoon, and he’ll wrap himself around you entirely as if he’s protecting you.

🌸 However, because Kaoru sometimes feels as if he’s trailing behind Hikaru instead of walking beside him, this will make him insecure.

🌸 He loves when you help reassure him of himself, and ground him again.

🌸 Mistkuni can be a bit of a child, but we all know he is a full grown boy and he knows it himself as well. He just doesn’t care.

🌸 So when he decided to finally ask you out, it was on a date to the aquarium. Of course he had to ask if Usa-chan could come along with you two.

🌸 He’s obviously very into sweets. And once you were his girlfriend, he’d love to take you out on bakery dates and buy you any sweets you’d want.

🌸 He’d also probably be the picnic type of guy. He’d love to have a nice picnic with cake, tea, Usa-chan and you, all of his favorite things.

🌸 Mitskuni is also a fun dates guy, but more like amusement parks and zoos. He loves to take you to exciting places.

🌸 He’d probably take you to Disney and make you get matching ears with him honestly, he’s that cheesy and cute.

🌸 But unfortunately Mistkuni also still has a dojo to attend to. The first time you visited his estate, watching all of the members of the dojo bow and respect him was almost humbling.

🌸 You’d watch him train on weekends before you’d be able to go out with him, but you didn’t mind. You loved seeing this side of Mitskuni.

🌸 His love languages are quality time and physical touch. Mitskuni loves to spend his time with you. You could be doing anything and he didn’t care.

🌸 We all know he takes afternoon naps, but if you take one with him he’s sure to never let you go. He would love to cuddle up to you while you’d sleep together.

Takashi Morinozuka

🌸 Okay but everyone knew about Takashi turning down a girl because his priority was serving Mitskuni.

🌸 That was, until he met you on the first day of your first year at Ouran.

🌸 Takashi was a a simple man, all he really cared for before was Mitskuni. But he found himself speaking more around you, and coming to find you were listening.

🌸 And one day, you had nearly fallen down a flight of stairs, and he caught you. And in that moment, he realized just how much you could take over his heart and he’d willingly just give it to you if you merely asked.

🌸 But after making sure you were okay, Takashi did ask you out on a date. He was a simple man, and your first date was actually to a park. All he wanted to do was take a walk.

🌸 But after that, he’d take you out on dates to the animal shelters or to fun hiking trails. Takashi is a fit guy, so I feel like he’d enjoy lots of exercise dates like that.

🌸 He’d also be the type of guy to go on a bike riding date. He’d get bikes for the both of you and the two of you would ride around together all day exploring the city.

🌸 And if you really enjoy doing these things with him, he’d take you to fun places like Amsterdam or Paris, somewhere to cycle around and enjoy the sights to see.

🌸 Or, he’d take you on a cool hiking trip through the Amazon Rain Forest or through the Grand Canyon. He loves just spending that time with you.

🌸 Takashi’s love language would definitely be quality time and acts of service.

🌸 He isn’t a man of many words, even if he has more for you than most others, nor does he often display his affections, but just doing the things he enjoys with you is more than enough for him.

🌸 He would definitely carve out just a little extra time in each day just to spend it with you. Seeing you was his favorite part of the day.

Haruhi Fujioka

🌸 Haruhi doesn’t really know she likes girls yet, so when she meets you on her first day at Ouran, her heart began to race, and she didn’t really know what do think or do.

🌸 After she had joined the host club, you never said anything, but you knew she was a girl on her first day of school. She had lost her glasses, but you definitely saw right through them.

🌸 And soon after you recognized the growing crush you had on Haruhi, you began attending the host club.

🌸 But you made Haruhi just slightly more nervous than usual, and you didn’t know why. Your initial first thought was she didn’t like you. But after spending more time with her, she had asked you out on a date.

🌸 And after asking, she told you she was a girl. But you laughed, informing her you already knew, which brought about her shock afterwards.

🌸 She eventually started to laugh with you, and after that everything fell into place. She’d taken you to a bookstore in her town, and you were obsessed with it.

🌸 After that though, you would take her out on dates instead for the most part. She’d plan them sometimes, but you loved to be the one to spoil her.

🌸 You loved taking Haruhi to museums and sushi restaurants. The look on Tamaki’s face when you bragged to him about buying Haruhi fancy tuna was priceless.

🌸 And her face, the first time she tried it, was also priceless. You loved to see her happy.

🌸 Haruhi’s love languages are most likely words of affirmation and quality time. She gets tired and stressed after having to deal with the host club, so spending time with you after is always her favorite.

🌸 She loves just sitting around and drinking tea with you, watching movies until you’d fall asleep together.

🌸 She also knew that as a first born lady in a family with status and money that you were self doubtful, so she’d love to share her own personal thoughts of you when you’re in that funk.

Are there any characters you think Ouran did very little justice to? Main characters or any side characters?

ooh i love this question!! i love love love the characters in ouran but there are definitely some that i think deserve better!!

the first who comes to mind is kyoya! overall i’m satisfied with his character but i wish we could’ve gotten a more concrete conclusion to his story!! in the last volume of the manga there is a page where bisco hatori explains that many readers wanted to see a resolution to kyoya’s family/company situation (like whether kyoya could become the heir or not), but she chose not to write about it because it wouldn’t be resolved for a very long time. i totally understand why she chose to do that, and i don’t think it HAD to happen for the story, but i wanted to see kyoya find some sort of happiness or achievement, you know? in the end he is still just vice president of the host club, but i want to see him be something on his own too!!

another character i thought of is ranka! for one, there is a lot of confusion and issues surrounding ranka’s queerness!! it is almost entirely used for comedy purposes and not explored at all. it’s certainly not a requirement for all queer characters to have deep explanations of their identities, but the vagueness of ranka’s character can be confusing. haruhi refers to them as her dad, but then they seem to react poorly to any other masculine labels. also i hate how a lot of translations use the t slur!!! i myself am not trans so i can’t speak for trans folk on these issues but these are my thoughts from an outside perspective.

i also wish we had a little more of ranka in the story!! in the manga there is a chapter about how they met haruhi’s mother, and she does show up in the story quite a bit, but idk i just want more!! ranka is a really fun character to me, so its sad that they are out of the picture a lot of the time.

a lot of early 2000's anime is problematic and deserves rightful critique but the way people critique ouran makes me so mad dkjfskjds

ouran is a fantastic anime and most importantly - it's a parody of the shoujo genre as a whole. each character and their arc is meant to be a subversion of their archetype (whether that be literal or physical. it's instances of queer characters are often played for laughs, but are than depicted with empathy and humanity right afterwards. these portrayals are intentional. sometimes outdated, sometimes barbaric - but overall positive.

the hikaru twins who play into their taboo love storyline have an arc that depicts their innate isolation from other people. kyoya who plays the responsible secretary type with complex morals is shown to have a complicated family life and inferiority complex. tamaki who is depicted as the frivolous playboy prince has a difficult homelife wrenched with abandonment issues.

haruhi, our main character, is distinct in her representation of self-hood and identity. she is from a poor family and a single parent home but has the healthiest sense of self and tends to exude warmth. the show depicts haruhis father, a cross-dresser who's quick to defend his career.

ultimately ouran is a satire. its a comedy. it's camp. the series touches on the obvious punchlines of certain character types all while emphasizing their strengths. some aspects of it are certainly outdated like the language used for haruhis father (in the dub at least), but saying its completely problematic despite its very obvious and genuine representation for LGBTQ people is just so frustrating especially as a queer person. like its not a squeaky clean unproblematic show, but it's depiction of outdated trains of thought (especially since those trains of thought are accurate for the time period) does not make it bad.

its a good show. its always been a good show like dsjkfsd

If you’ve been together longer he’ll pay for you to get your hair done whether that be braids, locks, straightened, dyed, etc.

He asks a lot of questions because he doesn’t want to accidentally do or say something to make you uncomfortable

If someone is racist towards you they’re going to wish they were dead. They will be losing their job, getting kicked out of school, and blacklisted in the career path they wanted to go in

As much as he doesn’t seem sentimental he most definitely has photos of you two hanging all around his room

The first time you come over you’re surprised by the items in his bathroom

You had come over and the two of you were having a great time. You were watching movies and playing games. At some point he had started playing with your hair. It felt so nice. “Sorry, is this okay? I heard recently that you should ask before touching black hair.”

“It’s fine, that’s more for strangers not for my boyfriend.” You smile at his thoughtfulness. Unfortunately your bladder had other ideas. No matter how many times you’ve been to his house you still have trouble remembering which door is the bathroom and what’s just a closet.

He laughed at you still not being able to find the bathroom and pointed to the door by his bed. “The one closest to the bed is the bathroom.” As you walked in though you were shocked to find various curl creams, mousse, leave-in conditioner, and a spray bottle with water.

“Kyo? What’s all this?”

“Ah, you found them. Good. I know that you usually bring your own hair products from home but I thought it would be more efficient if I just bought some to keep here for you.”

“Thank you, I love you.”

“I love you too.” And you’ve never believed it more.

When you start saying goodbye and giving goodbye gifts they all get real snappy

Not with you but with everyone else

“You’ll have to excuse us (Y/n), it’s just that…we will all miss you terribly.”

“Awww it’s not for’ver though.”

“No, it won’t be.”

They’ve got connections and they're pulling strings

“Yay! Isn’t it great!? We get to spend some more time together! Maybe you can stay with me and Takashi!”

“Yeah."

“Come on! (Y/n), stay with us…” “We have way better sleepovers.”

“No! Stay with me! (Y/n), please? If you want I can try carrying you this time!”

“Such fuss. I’ve already arranged a reserved room in one of the Ootori resorts. I’ll happily accompany you then.”

“Guys don’t overwhelm them! They’ll be staying with obviously.”

“But your house is barely large enough to stretch your legs out!”

day one - 08:00 | story mode

OHSHC x gn! reader

haruhi could only deadpan as she watched her fellow club members stalk gaze at you from behind one of the school’s structural pillars. as much as she liked tolerated her friends, she was not down for committing a crime with them.

“is this really something we should be doing?”

“no but it’s fun,” the twins chimed as they held haruhi by her arms, knowing she would escape if they didn’t.

honey simply nodded as he was practically jumping from excitement, waiting for kyoya to point out who his potential new friend was. the host club took it upon themselves, upon tamaki’s orders, to arrive at ouran early enough to see who you were. it wasn’t every day that they managed to let someone infiltrate their circle, whether it was because of their doing or someone else’s, and to say they weren’t all curious would be a lie. so here they were, staring at the entrance to 1-b waiting for you.

“y/l/n typically arrives at 8am,” kyoya chimed before looking at his phone’s clock, “it is only 7:58.”

“how did you…”

haruhi was going to ask but deemed it pointless. whenever there was a kyoya, there was a way.

“i can’t wait!”

“tama-chan! you’re being too loud.”

“mitsukuni. you are loud too.”

“kaoru is breathing too loud if we want to talk about noise.”

“what is wrong with-“

the sound of their phones going off interrupted the discourse that was about to start.

“it’s our new bestie!”

“boss please never say that again.”

they were about to message until kyoya’s voice rang out.

“there they are,” kyoya gathered everyone’s attention.

the seven hosts all looked towards the entrance. while they had varying reactions - ranging from ‘wow they look like a loner’ to ‘i hope they save themselves from these idiots’ - all of them noticed how pretty you were. the thought might have stemmed from just an observation but the seeds of romance have just been planted.

Hello! Can I request head cannons for the hosts with an S/O that is on a sports team (like swimming) and they come to support them at their meet? (I have a big swim meet coming up and I need encouragement lol) Feel free to ignore, but ty for considering!

Why would I ignore such a cute request :) I had thought of doing swimming but then I remembered I'm a girl and that was a no go [Also I was in a 'situation' lol irrelevant] But I did the Physical Test and everything [Also Covid hit sooo] [Also no Mori, so sorry abt that]

He's OVER supportive

Like embarrassingly so

You love him, you really do

But when he shows up to your meet with banners, a shirt with your face, a huge hat, and the rest of the Host Club w/ just as much merchandise on them, you wanna crawl in a hole and die

If you lose, he'll be more devastated than you

^He'll hold you and cry into your arms, telling you it'll be okay

If you win, he'll be so excited and want to throw a HUGE celebration

You'll chuckle and shrug him off, saying it's no big deal

"But it is a big deal! You worked hard and you deserve to celebrate!"

[He really just wants to throw a party]

You'll feel bad for Haruhi, knowing that Tamaki probably dragged him out all this way, but Haruhi will tell you it's fine, plus free food

He'll also compliment you, and when Tamaki hears, he'll come in with his VERY loud praises

He'll tell everyone in a 5 foot radius that you're his partner and you're an amazing athlete

You're embarrassed about his bragging, but Tamaki doesn't even notice, because he just loves you so much and wants everyone else to know

Kyoya Ootori

He doesn't really care to much for sports, especially swimming

But it's something you enjoy, so of course he'll be supportive

He'll give you tactics/methods to do better

He doesn't show it well, but he's happy for you

You love swimming AND you're good at it

^You've found your purpose, unlike him :(

^But you'll help him

Tamaki comes with him, but Kyoya didn't bring him

^Tamaki is just a parasite who invades on Kyoya's personal time

Tamaki will be the one that cheers for you, while Kyoya sits in a despise, wishing he could choke Tamaki

You think it's nice that your boyfriend's best friend is cheering for you

^In fact Kyoya is more bothered than you

Whether you win or lose, Kyoya will take you out to eat, cause that's how he shows his love, withOUT Tamaki

Hikaru Hitachiin

His brother forced him to go

He's bad with his feelings, so he sometimes act irrationally

But he's glad Kaoru made him go, because he really enjoyed watching you doing something you love

He'd be upset if you lose, but not at you, really just other things, but you tell him it's fine, you were just a little off your game, cause you didn't expect Hikaru to be there

Hikaru feels bad after you say that and decides he'll never miss another meet

He wants to be a supportive boyfriend, he just doesn't know HOW

You completely understand though and don't hold it against him

If you WIN tho, he'll say it's thanks to him

HIS presence helped you win

You'll laugh and call him your good luck charm and he blushes

He's YOUR lucky charm? Of course he is!

He tells Kaoru that he doesn't have to come to your meets anymore, which offends Kaoru, cause like "uh-no...They may be your partner, but they're MY Best friend, so uh, no I won't"

Hikaru gets mad about it, but you tell him it's fine, because you enjoy BOTH of them

Kaoru teaches Hikaru all the things about swimming and who your teammates are and it makes Hikaru feel like shit, cause god he really has missed out on a lot

But not anymore

Cause he's going to be the BEST boyfriend in the world

Kaoru Hitachiin

Kaoru is the ONLY one who is able to go to your swim meet alone

While he could drag his brother along with him

But he enjoys going alone

He feels like it's just you and him, no one else in the world

He also makes lovey-dovey eyes while watching you

He'll be disappointed for you if you lose, because he knows you worked really hard

Though you'll just tell him you'll do better next time and this just motivates you more

Kaoru is the more emotionally connected twin, so you can tell him your feelings and he's [more] mature about it

"I'm really glad you came, even if I did lose"

He'll blush, looking away from you

But if you win, he'll take you to his house and celebrate with you

He'll do whatever you want and, just like Tamaki, will tell everyone you just won your swim meet and you were incredible

I mean he just brags about you no matter what, but ESPECIALLY if you won

He loves being there for you and seeing you at your best

He's just so glad he's part of this part of your life

Haruhi Fujioka

She read all about swimming/swim meets/etc

She wants to educate herself as much as she possibly can

Some stuff is out of date, or you just find plain funny, cause no one does that

But she'll tell you rules YOU didn't even know about

She's more of the type to read than participate

The rest of the Host Club 1000% invades on your meet

They'll shout at you, distracting you, though not on purpose, they really just want to embarrass Haruhi

Haruhi will get frustrated and tell them to stop, because they keep distracting you and you could lose

Haruhi wanted to go back to her place where she had F/d [Favorite Dessert] so if you win you have something to enjoy or if you lose, you ALSO have something to enjoy

BUT the Club hasn't different plans

Haruhi will profusely apologize for their behavior, but you'll tell her it's all right, you don't mind

When you both are FINALLY able to get away, she takes you to her place, so you can finally enjoy F/d

She loves going to your swim meets, because you just look so happy

Mitsukuni "Honey" Haninozuka

He brought Mori [And his and Mori's brothers, because he loves you and he wants everyone to watch you succeed] with him to your meet

Whether you win or lose, he still going out to eat sweets with you

He'll listen to you rant about the whole thing, even though he was there the whole time

He thinks it's cute

He'll cheer for you and so will Mori's brother, Satoshi, and then Honey will see it as a competition for who can cheer the loudest until Mori finally stops his brother from actually pissing Honey off [Mori will tell when Honey starts throwing Passive Aggressive comments Satoshi's way]

No one's going to cheer louder than him for HIS partner 😠

You'll even introduce Honey to your teammates, since they had been asking about the blonde boy

He'll cheer for you if you win and comfort you if you lose

^He doesn't care to much, because no matter what he'll still love you and think you're the best thing on planet Earth and you're all his

There we have it. 24 chapters later, we are at the end of Disce.

Of course I have to thank Bisco Hatori and everyone responsible for bringing OHSHC together. Even if we never get that second season, we did at least get one and the manga did things to my heart, not going to lie. Major props to them for making me giggle and kick my feet in the air.

Inspiration for this fic probably came from reading other people’s fics. One good thing about being part of an older fandom is the wealth of fanwork you can find, and all of the fics and fanart fed me well.

My main goal for this fic was to write something light and fluffy and just to spend some time vibing with the Host Club. I just wanted to get my feet wet and see what writing for OHSHC would be like. I wanted to get a feel for the characters and how to write their dynamics. I hope I was able to find a balance between the ridiculousness OHSHC is known for and some of the deeper characterization. Some of my favourite moments from the series was when we got to take a step back and see all of the hosts outside of the club. While I didn’t include much of that in this fic, it’s definitely something I’d like to explore.

Adding on to that, because this fic is a various x reader (sorta haha), I didn’t get to delve as much into the characters as I would have liked. All of the characters have interesting backgrounds and family dynamics that I think would be fun to get into. In the future, I’d probably dedicate a separate fic for each host so we can see more of them outside of the club. Aspects like Kyoya being the youngest child, Tamaki’s relationship with his father, the twins’ and their identity … there’s some good stuff. I’d love to dive into it :’)

Regardless, I tried to incorporate a bit of the hosts’ backstory into the fic as much as I could. It would have been nice to explore everyone more in-depth, but then this fic would have been massive and gone on forever. Oh well.

I had a great time writing this fic. I loved thinking up new interactions for everyone and just describing their day to day activities. I especially loved writing for Hikaru and Kyoya. They’re probably at least a little out of character, but the sass was non negotiable. I also found that roping Renge into it all was necessary. Sometimes I forget she’s part of the Host Club but she always makes me laugh.

Also in the future, I’d like to include more characters from OHSHC besides the hosts. Ranka, Kasanoda, Nekozawa… I have a feeling I could make some chaos for them >:).
