Hundreds of Jewish anti-war demonstrators have been arrested during a Passover seder that doubled as a protest in New York, as they shut down a major thoroughfare to pray for a ceasefire and urge the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer, to end US military aid to Israel.

The 300 or so arrests took place on Tuesday night at Grand Army Plaza, on the doorstep of Schumer’s Brooklyn residence, where thousands of mostly Jewish New Yorkers gathered for the seder, a ritual that marked the second night of the holiday celebrated as a festival of freedom by Jews worldwide.

The seder came just before the US Senate resoundingly passed a military package that includes $26bn for Israel.

And what the underlying subtext of this could've been for both Zyro and Sakyo's characters..

- Takanosuke is kinda naturally clumsy and gets injured by accident a lot, which ends up being pretty convenient once he and Sakyo become a pair cuz it means easy snacks for Sakyo whenever

- sakyo basically always keeps bandaids and juice on him after their deal so that he can take care of Takanosuke after feeding from him <3

- in general, when Sakyo isn’t hangry, he’s basically like a giant puppy. He’s very loyal and affectionate (in his own sort of way), but also very much has a guard dog kinda vibe

- Sakyo prefers to bite on the arms rather than the neck for a lot of reasons. Mostly because it’s more comfortable and convenient, but it’s also a lot easier to cover up or explain afterwards bc they don’t just leave a bite mark but a bruise too and. on the neck that’s kinda awkward yk

- Takanosuke’s friends are VERY concerned for his safety upon finding out that he’s become friends with Sakyo, despite all his reassurance that he really is fine. It’s only when they actually see the two of them together and how weirdly calm and caring Sakyo is around him that it kinda clicks for them

- I was implying it in the other posts abt them but like everyone thinks they’re dating afterwards. No one ever says it directly to either of them but everyone’s thinking it.

- it definitely doesn’t help that all of Sakyo’s displays of loyalty are very boyfriend-y. Constantly spending time with Taka, carrying his things for him, sharing food, being generally protective. yeah it’s an easy conclusion to draw. both of them are entirely oblivious to this

- Takanosuke actually insists that all that isn’t necessary and that he was never really expecting anything in return from Sakyo, but Sakyo is insistent that it’s something that he wants to do. I like to think that it’s a vampire thing that if a vampire does end up only/mainly getting blood from one human in particular, that’s a very intimate and close kind of bond that warrants those kinds of instincts.

- in this universe also Ryoma was a full vampire and Victoria was human, hence Sakyo being half and half. they also had that kind of dynamic :3c

heya, I think your vampire and school au for takasakyo pretty cool and want you to ramble more about it. mfb school au's are endlessly hilarious to me, so how are they're doing?

WOOOO YEAHHHHH I LOVE TALKING ABOUT THIS AU‼️‼️‼️‼️ I will start by saying the first thing I made for it was this fic (which was originally gonna be a mini comic but I didn’t feel like drawing it)

I’m pretty sure I came up with this au in the first place just bc I was thinking a little bit too hard about sakyo’s fangs and then that led my brain to go to vampires, and now we’re here. The thing that I thought abt that I find really amusing (which is what mostly inspired the fic) is like, a subversion of the usual vampire trope of biting on the neck, bc when you really think about that, tis a tad bit intimate and also probably not the most convenient, so I had it so that Sakyo bites Takanosuke on his arm instead (much to taka’s surprise). I also did that kinda thinking about like, actual blood drives and stuff, and I’ve personally never donated blood but they have opportunities to do so at my school sometimes and I know they always give people like snacks and juice afterwards, so I thought it’d be cute to have Sakyo do that to.

In general Sakyo’s character is probably the thing that’s most different in this whole au because although I tried to translate some of his actual character arc and motivations into the context of him being a vampire, it’s a very different lens overall. and like also yk it’s just me making Sakyo a lot cuter just for my own funsies BUT THATS THE LESS IMPORTANT PART. in the actual series his motivations are a lot more “because I’ve inherited dragoon and am ryugas successor it’s my destiny to Cause Problems On Purpose and be stronger than everyone and fuck everyone else up and be a loner and I’m gonna take pride in that,” but vamp Sakyo feels a lot more shame in being a vampire so his motivations are more like “it is my destiny to be this horrible monster and despite the fact that I don’t really like most people anyways, I don’t really wanna cause any real harm either so I’m gonna Cause Problems On Purpose so that they stay away” yk. And also again the aspect of him not drinking blood often basically makes him hangry like all the time so that also adds to the Issues.

I feel like the context I’ve built up in my head is kinda vague in all the ways I’ve tried to post about it but like, the idea was that similar to the anime, in Sakyo’s pursuit of causing problems and just being a general asshole, all the same people who he battled during his introduction also got into trouble with Sakyo at some point during the school year. I made this joke to some friends I was telling about this au but like, Sakyo through and through is a dorkass loser. In the show, people take him seriously bc he has the bey and the power to back it up, but outside of that he is SO lame and such an edgy teenager, and in this au, he has the exact same attitude he usually does except now he doesn’t actually physically fight people to the same degree so everyone basically just sees him as this edgy emo asshole who hisses at people in the hallways yk. And so everyone just kinda avoids him bc nobody likes him. Except for Takanosuke that is, who still has his whole thing with Sakyo and ren, and similarly, becomes intrigued with Sakyo afterwards. Call it intuition or something, but immediately after actually having an interaction with Sakyo, he can sense that there’s something else that he’s not letting on. That’s when he starts following Sakyo and trying to talk to him, but Sakyo continually ignores him. It’s after school one day where he finds Sakyo in like, an alley or something, basically doing as bad as he could possibly be doing, and at this point Takanosuke’s already been connecting some of the dots, but seeing Sakyo as he sees him there is the final confirmation in the realization that he’s a vampire, and that kinda explains a lot for takanosuke. It makes all of Sakyo’s strange behavior and aggression make sense to him and he also realizes, seeing the state Sakyo’s in, that he’s really just hungry, and feels compelled to help. That’s when they make their whole deal and their friendship begins.

It’s funny because Sakyo has like absolutely no idea how to go about any of this now, both because he hasn’t really had a friend in like ever, but now that he has a steady source of blood, he doesn’t really need to be doing like everything that he’s been doing, and doesn’t really know how to go about that. At school, he really only hangs out with Takanosuke now, and basically everyone else has taken notice to it and how he’s basically changed completely pretty much over night. A lot of people start drawing their own conclusions. If Takanosuke’s with his other friends, Sakyo usually stays on his own somewhere else, unless he really needs a refill, in which case he and takanosuke will go off on their own somewhere so that no one else sees that. Everyone else still has no fucking clue that Sakyo’s a vampire. This does not help with the conclusions (I really wanna make a mini comic about this too)

In general, the two become pretty attached at the hip for the most part. Their arrangement basically bonds them for life in vampire culture or whatever, and in turn, Sakyo becomes pretty protective of Takanosuke. I think it’s both an instinctual “defending my food” kind of thing, but also a way of keeping their deal even. Takanosuke gives Sakyo blood, and in turn, Sakyo becomes very loyal to Takanosuke. This is mostly where the “uncharacteristically cute and caring” Sakyo characterization comes in. This is another one I wanna draw but this not only comes in the extremes of “is this guy bothering you do you want me to kill him for you,” but also in little ways, such as the post-bloodsucking juice boxes, Sakyo offering to carry Taka’s bag or walk him home, general things like that. It kinda catches takanosuke off guard bc he really wasn’t expecting much in return, but Sakyo insists on it. And again, to people with zero context of their dynamic, this is all VERY interesting.

Thinking about later down the line, although idk how it’d really happen, I think Zyro being Zyro would eventually find out about Sakyo being a vampire as well and help him out if he ever needed it. Perhaps it could start a chain reaction of people suddenly becoming a lot more tolerable of Sakyo, ensuing even more kooky hijinks involving Sakyo suddenly needing to understand how to have a social life

whenever I have my daily rewatch of shogun steel, I've found it a little weird for the characters to synchrome with only one other person (at least one per bey) despite how it's emphasized to be representative on bonds between bladers.

it's because of this, I now headcanon between the three month period post neo-battle bladers/pre baihu's arrival, zyro and ren decided to synchrome and their combined energy became too powerful that it caused a bey park to be shut down for 1-2 weeks thus it became kind of an unspoken/semi-spoken rule to pick a person and stick with them

#REAL #god the potential of different synchrome pairings are really fun to think about #fully in support of the idea of some synchromes simply being Too Fucking Strong ™️

I was reading some of my old hc posts yesterday and stumbled upon one that was about Sakyo getting jealous whenever Takanosuke brings up Zyro and it got me thinking. it would be really funny if it went the other way too. like, Takanosuke super admires Zyro and any time he brings up how cool and strong Zyro is and how much he inspires Taka, Sakyo gets all grumbly about it and feels the need to show off more to prove that he’s so much cooler and stronger than Zyro. but when Sakyo gets into his bond with Zyro and goes into the whole “Zyro made me realize I could be my own person and taught me about what it really means to be a blader. He is my greatest rival and I wouldn’t be where I am now without him” thing, TAKANOSUKE then gets really jealous about that in a very “so what am I? chopped liver?” kind of way and I just think that’s very funny. Of all the main gang, Zyro is definitely the closest and friendliest with both taka and Sakyo and they both really appreciate him and get along well with him, but they also both occasionally hate his guts for stealing so much of their partner’s attention sometimes and I think that’s beautiful <3

Kira- this is mostly like, stuff I enjoy doing with him and dna, but I love explorations of what post-canon would look like for him. Especially when people acknowledge like, how insanely fucked up his entire life has been up to that point, it’s really interesting playing with how he interacts with both the main gang and society at large, especially if you go the route of it being kinda rocky at first and it taking a while for both him and others to fully adjust. I also really enjoy giving him closer bonds with other dna members and just all the different ways their dynamics can be portrayed. As for things I hate, as with a lot of characters but Kira especially is victim to this for obvious reasons, I despise how oversexualized he is a lot of the time and how much people reduce his character down for the sake of that. There’s so much about him that’s super interesting and complex but people just end up being so weird about him and it makes me sad. One specific example that I can call to is that I discovered a while back that kite/kira is a ship that exists and tbh, I really enjoy it I think they have a lot of potential to be really interesting together, but like all of the posts I saw of them were just so weird and gross and that’s really upsetting to me.

Ren- I think just giving her more individual dynamics with others is really fun. She doesn’t really have a lot of one on one bonds with other characters in the actual show so I really enjoy when people explore the individual friendships and relationships she can have with others. For me, I find takanosuke and Shinobu the most fun to pair her with but honestly anyone you put her with is a fun time. I also like thinking about her and benkei having a closer father-daughter relationship they make me happy <3

Unfortunately for things I dislike, it’s like so much. No one does her right and I think that’s upsetting. Her personality is so fun and unique and I feel like no one really gives her the full grace of that. She’s silly and stupid and energetic but she’s also determined and tough and hardworking. She can be stubborn and reckless and narrow minded and she can also be reasonable and kind and sarcastic. I love her personality and her characterization so much but I think that most fanon portrayals of her focus too much on very narrow views of her character and don’t really give her the full depth that she has. Also, this next one is like, old fandom stuff and not really super present with her, but all of the ship content I’ve seen with her sucks ass and mischaracterizes her really badly. I think in general with a lot of older depictions of her, most of her actual character gets ignored entirely and people just go “GIRL” and just put whatever the hell they want to onto her and none of it works like ever.

Kira- Kira’s such a dress up doll character I think you could put him in like anything and it’d work. I don’t know much about the style, but from what I’ve seen, I think putting him in visual kei could be fun.

Ren- REN I ACTUALLY HAVE ONE FOR!! I love to think that she would enjoy scene fashion and I have for forever it works so well. I’ve actually doodled a scene-ish look for her before

yk I thought about this and I was like “huh idk if there’s anything I dislike necessarily” and then I remembered why I stopped my last masters rewatch. listen man I love Tsubasa very dearly and I think the whole dark power thing was really interesting and for the most part, pretty well executed, but specifically him stalking and harassing julian is really hard to watch. genuinely I did not continue watching masters the last time I picked it up just bc I get so much second hand embarrassment with that whole bit 💀 AND LIKE I KNOW HES GOING THROUGH IT AT THAT POINT AND IS REALLY NOT DOING WELL MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY BUT LIKE.
