I think it's funny that the few Zutara fics I've tried to give a chance to 1) were just dark romance* but with characters of a children's show and 2) treated Azula, Aang and Mai as the worse people to ever live.

meanwhile Azutara basically 1) makes Azula the most adorable little baby I've ever seen and 2) makes Zuko the cutest oblivious character ever.

his 'yandere-ness' is very toned down while he is pining over you and won't actually show until he is in a relationship with you.. at least not to your face!

toph says to buy you things or whatever girls like but you never accept his gifts!

aang says to just be nice to you but he has a fucking panic attack every time you smile at him

his last resort is katara who begrudgingly tells him to be himself and just tell you how he feels

and he does

you accept his confession much to his(and everyones surprise)

but he doesn't believe that you actually like him? i mean, everyone in his life besides his uncle hates him or used to. what if this is just a ploy and you're secretly making fun of him behind his back?

because of his insecurities, he slowly distances himself away from you. he finally got what he wanted but it doesn't feel real, just yet.

that is, until one day, azula comes back and is looking to hurt.

fights happen but azula gets the better of zuko.

she's right about to give him another burn to the face until you step in.

whether you're a bender or not, you risk your life to save zuko.

zuko is amazed and almost in awe

someone really cared enough to save his life and out of all people, it's you!

he doesn't know why he never saw it before but you really do love him!

and he's going to make sure that you never forget that he loves you back.

after defeating azula, you both escape very injured but zuko isn't worried about his wounds, only you.

you tell him that you're fine and that it was worth it to save zuko

but seeing you hurt... it triggers something in zuko, a rage that makes even his skin hot to the touch.

he promises that you'll never get hurt in his care, ever again.

I've been cooking this one up for a while but early 90s (like set between 91 to 92) college au. Mai, Suki, and zuko are goths who does sokka's makeup every chance they get. they would chilling in sokka's dorm, and Mai would be like "someone hand me the white face paint".

the rest of the gaang + azula/ty lee is still in high school. they're doing a HS trip of the college. azula sees zuko and Mai eating lunch. she gets the attention of the tour guide, points at them, and says "I want THEM to tour us." also azula loves calling Mai and zuko, "Gomez and morticia".

she also does not hesitate to call zuko 'koko' in public and she will do it every time she sees him.

when toph is bored, she likes to fuck around with katara's answering machine at the ungodly hours of night. like when all the tv goes off (bc back in those days, the TV literally turned off. like It was just static), she'll call her, knowing she won't answer and just fuck around. katara would like wake up to fifteen messages on the answering message, all from toph. half of them are just her rambling about random ass shit, and the other half is jokes. Gran Gran would be like "your friend surely does talk a lot."

yue comes into town. she ends up going to the college and meets sokka, whom she becomes friends with. she's really heavily impacted katara's sense in fashion and makeup. yue's fashion & makeup is inspired by the 60s and 70s. she wears a lot of flowy dresses, skirts, and shirts. a lot of white, light blue, and other light colors in the blue family. yue teached katara some brown girl makeup hacks bc she knows how hard it is to find makeup for brown skin. she used to take katara shopping too like she was like the big sister she never had 😭

then zhao did some shit and yue & her family had to move.

SO SOKKA HAD A CAMCORDER WHICH WAS HIS DAD'S AND HE USES IT TO RECORD RANDOM SHIT AND DAY TO DAY LIFE 😭. one of the tapes was sokka and zuko trying to bring up their TV up the stairs since they just brought it. suki was recording. sokka's hand slips and the tv goes down the stairs and breaks. it just gasps and a beat of slience 😭.

The Boiling Rock Part 1 Re-Watch

Ohhh this is SUCH a fun episode. So fucking fun. Ok, full disclosure this is another tipsy re-watch post, I won't lie, I'm drinking a margarita. Basically, this episode is about how Sokka & Zuko have a socially awkward dynamic with a mix of genuine care & a complex history, making for a funny & cute friendship & how Suki & Sokka have a strong romantic love & Zuko & Suki get along & work well together instantly & they should totally be a throuple right? No? Okay, well, this episode at the very least did say Zukki (Zukkai? Sukkako?) rights & I'm standing by that.

Anyway. Real talk. Sokka's determination to attempt to rescue his father even knowing that it may be a doomed mission is heartbreaking. He's done making plans that fail. He just misses his dad & hates leaving him behind after spending so much time separated from him. I love how Zuko dramatically waited up for Sokka. And I loved their awkward little conversation while they rode the war balloon. I've written before that it really hurts my heart that Zuko doesn't even consider Azula for a second when Sokka asks about people that Zuko left behind & yeah, I think about that every time I watch. Zuko "didn't want to get Mai involved" but didn't care at all about ratting out Azula. I didn't mention this in my DOBS re-watch post because I wanted to focus on Zuko's amazing moment of standing up to his father. And I seriously don't like it when people use Zuko's ignorance about Azula's position to bash Zuko. I'm not doing that. He is absolutely not being coldhearted or cruel, he just....doesn't understand the position Azula is in at ALL. I just think it's SAD. The fire siblings are so fucking tragic...

Anyway.

See - if I start talking about the fire siblings that's ALL I'll end up talking about lol - I have to talk about other stuff.

anyway. I really loved the scene between Sokka & Zuko when they're discussing the absence of Hakoda at the prison. Zuko is trying so hard to emulate Iroh, even though he doesn't really understand Iroh's proverbs at ALL, he knows his uncle loves him & that Iroh is very smart & he's TRYING so hard to be like that & I just...Ooh, I'm getting all emo. Anyway. "Take a bite out of the silver sandwich."

Sokka & Suki's reunion was SO good. I cracked up at Sokka trying to do a callback to their previous reunion & Suki flipping him on his back before the two actually got a cute reunion.

And then Sokka immediately had his bisexual awakening!

I loved Sokka's very smart escape plan based on his engineering ingenuity.

But what I loved even more? What really just had me going insane?

Sokka: Seriously, not helping.

Zuko: [Grabs Sokka's shoulder.] You have to try every time. You can't quit because you're afraid you might fail.

Chit Sang: [Standing by the cooler boat.] Hey, if you two are done cuddling, can we get a move on?

Sokka: No. I'm staying. You guys go. [To Suki.] You've been here long enough.

Suki: I'm not leaving without you, Sokka.

Zuko: I'm staying, too.

Okay so, question: How would "The Siege of the North" play out in the Avatar!Ty Lee AU?

Ahahahahahaha YES I told y'all I would hurt you with a certain Canon line and here we are!

So! Am I starting out with more Azula and Yue? Yes! Yes I am!

They're doing that awkward 'yeah we're in love but you're engaged and this probably wouldn't have worked anyway' thing. But still very much in love with each other despite being 'just friends'.

Also! Fun fact: I adore a headcanon I saw floating around where Fire Nation proposals involve a hand-carved knife! So imagine the vibes of Azula giving Yue a knife. "Aren't you tired of being nice? Don't you want to go apeshit?"

They're having cute but awkward moments together when oh hey black smoke in the sky. Goddamn it the Fire Nation is here to fuck shit up again.

Of course when asked who all is willing to fight, our entire Gaang is down to volunteer. They're already in this, and they plan to see it through. (Ofc our girls of the Gaang stare down anyone who dares to suggest a woman shouldn't fight).

Aang and Ty Lee head out first on Appa, since they're the most mobile and can at least scout out the situation and take down some of the Fire Nation's ships

We also get Yue's actual fiancé, Hahn, being an absolute dick. And the rest of the Gaang just roasts his outdated info on the Fire Nation because damn like. 85 year old uniform? Really? That's your idea? Hahn manages a snarky 'of course /you/ would know' before Chief Arnook breaks it up and tells Hahn to listen to them since they've been on the frontlines for a while, and get up to speed before continuing with the plan.

This lasts long enough to get the plan together before Hahn decides to be an asshole again by discussing the 'perks' of marrying Yue, and poking fun at the rest of them and some standard sexism about the girls fighting, so on and so forth.

The extra boiling point that turns it into a fight is when Hahn reveals the fact that half the Gaang are actually Fire Nation themselves. This fact was kept quiet, only to the Chief, his family, and high council members. Because it might cause issues and distrust to have them here even if they say they're on their side.

Which. Is somewhat what happens. While most of the troops go 'hey even if they were Fire Nation, they've defected from the country, are helping us, and are with the goddamn Avatar so obviously it isn't a trick', there is that unease.

As a result, they're all taken off the frontlines and off the stealth mission. But Chief Arnook gives them a different mission: Protect the inner city. Most of the troops will be at the city walls, with those who can't fight are deeper in the city in the more protected buildings. If the fighting gets past the walls, or if the Fire Nation pull off a stealth mission of their own, they're the line of defense.

He does also mention his more selfish reasons. That he wants them to protect Yue in particular. We have Azula sticking by Yue, who is in the group with Katara, Aang and Ty Lee. Everyone else stations themselves nearby the inner city, keeping an eye out.

Aang and Ty Lee end up coming up with the 'hey, maybe we can get the Spirits to help us!' thing. Because 1.) they're the Avatar, so Spirits should help them and 2.) even Spirits that don't have a stake directly in this conflict, should know that winning this battle will help to Balance the world.

Yue takes them to the Spirit Oasis, where we get the discussion on how to talk to the Spirits. Ty Lee's kinda jokingly like "Hey now for once I'm the useless one with the Avatar Shit™ since Spirits only listen to Aang anyway!"

It works and Aang enters the Spirit World. That whole mess goes about the same. Meeting with Koh the Face Stealer, learning that the Ocean and Moon Spirits are the koi fish, etc.

But when Aang gets back, everything has gone to shit. We're at the point where Zhao and his men are attacking the Oasis. Katara, Azula, and Ty Lee are fighting like hell, but they're outnumbered. Plus they're too focused on protecting Aang and Yue to notice that Zhao was going after the fish instead.

Zhao grabs the Moon Spirit and Waterbending cuts out. Leading to Katara being taken out of the fight, Aang and Yue getting the headache of reacting to the Moon Spirit's distress, and Ty Lee being down an Element. Ty Lee, Aang and Azula are still ready to fight, plus the rest of the Gaang has been sprinting full tilt to get here when they saw shit going fucky.

It should be a more even fight, but with Zhao holding the Moon Spirit hostage.....

Zhao goes on his whole rant about glory and being the 'Moonslayer', while everyone tries really hard to talk him down from being stupid.

That goes about as well in Canon. He kills the Moon Spirit. And between him no longer having his hostage, and fury at the audacity of what he just did? The whole group goes feral.

We get an especially pissed off Iroh for a hot minute here which sends Zhao running. Sokka, Zuko, and Mai all bolt after him.

Ty Lee and Aang are in sync with their rage. Flickering into the Avatar State already. Before they go full force, Aang drags Ty Lee into the water and they join power with the Ocean Spirit.

You know how I jokingly called them in the Avatar State 'Drift Compatible'? This is exactly why. They go full fuckin Pacific Rim.

Back at the Oasis, we get the reveal of Yue having some of the Moon Spirit's life in her. And Iroh somberly telling her that it might be their only chance to fix this, but.....

Azula snaps for a moment. This is fucked! Yue has already given up a lot in the name of her people, and now she's expected to give up her life too? No! Fuck that! She shouldn't have to become something she's not just because 'she is their Princess and her people 'need her' to'! Fuck 'royal obligations', fuck 'what's expected of her', and especially fuck sacrificing anything else!

Yue just smiles sadly. Tells her this isn't about duty or obligation or what anyone else wants from her. She is willing to face anything, even death, even eternity, if it means those she loves will be safe.

A final kiss goodbye, and Yue is gone.

Azula is still for a moment. Shock. Then fury. Burning anger making her move.

She's going after Zhao herself. And while Iroh tries to talk her out of revenge, she doesn't listen.

Azula finds the others still fighting Zhao. A three-on-one battle that he is very much losing.

Sokka, Mai and Zuko can see the anger off of her. The almost unhinged attacks. They notice the Moon is back in the sky. THey don't know what happened, but they know that they had better get the hell out of her way.

Before Azula can do much to Zhao, the Ocean Spirit shows up to drag him down. Though she feels robbed of her own vengeance, Azula can live with that ending. The Ocean Spirit lost its partner that night too.

The battle is over. Everyone tries to pick up the pieces.

Everyone handles this with varying reactions. But Azula is still angry. Lashing out at anyone and everyone who tries to approach her. Picking fights just to get out some of the aggression still in her system.

Eventually, Zuko approaches her on his own. Because as upset as she is, she won't snap at him like she does at the others.

They're quiet for a moment. Not acknowledging. Not talking. Just... existing.

Azula: "My first girlfriend turned into the Moon."

Zuko, unsure what else to say: "That's rough, buddy."

It's unexpected. And it makes her laugh. The laughter quickly turns to sobs, having finally hit the breaking point for goddamn everything they've been through.

The Gaang are Roommates AU ~

note: this is a rewrite and repost of my old roommates au, there was some stuff I wanted to change, and I wanted to make the parts a little longer, so yeah, ta-dah! 

- think modern setting in the canon universe, bending is still a thing 

- the Gaang are all in going to Ba Sing Se University 

- I’m gonna change the ages a bit to make it easier for myself, sorry 

- Zuko, Sokka, Suki and Mai are 20, Katara, Ty Lee and Azula are 19, Aang, Toph and Yue are 18

- so, Zuko, Sokka, Katara, Aang and Toph end up living together in a big loft type apartment 

- Sokka and Aang are old best friends, they met Toph in Middle School, and Katara is a natural part of the group 

- until now Sokka and Katara have both been living in the dorms, and they both hate it intensely 

- but now that Aang and Toph are also in uni, they all decide to move in together!

- …but the only problem is that the only place they find that they like is just out of their price rage (Toph’s parents aren’t supportive of her major so they’re not helping out much)

- enter: ~ Zuko ~

- so, Zuko has been living with his uncle Iroh since his Father, who’s a high up in some big and important company the Fire Nation, disowned him for speaking up against the company’s shifty treatment of workers and ruining a lot of sacred land etc 

- they’re still firebenders and the scar still happened, not in an Agni Kai, but it happened 

- but after Zuko started uni, Iroh really tried to push him to meet some people his own age and make some friends

- the only people Zuko talks to on the regular besides Iroh is Azula, Ty Lee and Mai, and Mai is the only one who is like, his friend yanno?

- the last year the deal was that if Zuko didn’t branch out, Iroh would have him live one year with other students

- it’s his idea of tough love 

- Zuko tried to do some random kid’s homework to have them pretend to be his new friend in front of Iroh so he wouldn’t have to, but Iroh can tell he’s lying so easily 

- so, Zuko ends up hearing about the Gaang through Mai, who heard from Ty Lee, who plays field hockey, Suki, who’s best friends with Sokka

- so, he goes to meet them, and it’s so awkward mY GOD

- Katara is a B I G environmental activist and HATES Ozai and his company, with good reason

- she eases up a tad when Zuko admits to being turned away from as a teen, but she is still suspicious

- Aang loves him right away, ofc, and that makes Katara even more suspicious because she’s pretty protective of Aang

- she claims it’s because he’s so kind and believes everyone but she totally liikeees hiiiim

- Toph is just like, sure, as long as he pays his rent idgaf

- Sokka is weirdly quiet, because he’s had a huge crush on Zuko forever, and the only one who knows is Aang (and Toph but she ain’t no snitch)

- so, ya boy makes the cut, and before they know it, it’s move-in day!

- but, the idiots didn’t think through the facts that it’s only three bedrooms oops

- and Toph is NOT afraid to pull the “I’m blind and I need my space” card

- and nobody’s up to fight her on it, so 

- let’s just say there is A LOT of back and forth, but with Katara refusing to room with her brother again, and Zuko being rightfully scared of Katara, it ends up with Zuko and Sokka sharing a bedroom, and Katara and Aang

- they have separate beds ofc

- but still, tension, man, so much tension

- it takes a while, but the dynamics starts working out really well

- Zuko is good at grocery shopping and likes to clean, and Aang is always happy to help him out

- Sokka loves cooking, so he does that a lot

- Katara is always on top of the others with schoolwork and making sure everyone is okay, and she usually does it in genius, sneaky ways so people doesn’t even notice that she does it

- Toph is clearing the air off bullshit

- like, she will call a bitch out

- but because she cares about said bitch

- so, Aang knows that Sokka has a crush on Zuko because Sokka told him in a weak moment, and Toph knows because she just knows

- Aang is a good friend tho, and he tries to like, ease them together

- but he is so awkward about it, the poor thing, and Zuko doesn’t understand AT ALL

- Toph is just sitting back and sighing a lot

- Katara doesn’t understand either but she just stays out of it (smart girl)

- but okay, we know how oblivious Zuko can be right?

- Sokka can give him googly eyes and blush and stutter around him so much and he still has no clue at all

- Zuko starts thinking Sokka just doesn’t like him at all

- but then one night Zuko has this really intense nightmare

- okay and quick addition, his scar is… handshaped? Like, you can clearly tell what happened to him

- but nobody talks about it, yet

- but then he’s having a terrible nightmare and is talking and begging and pleading in his sleep

- so much that Sokka wakes up

- and he catches on pretty fast, but had no idea what to do

- so he just shuffles over to Zuko’s side of the room and starts tapping his shoulder rapidly

- but nothing happens

- so he just… gently and awkwardly pats his head until Zuko wakes up

- and Zuko is like… wat u doin there bro

- and Sokka is like… just patting ur head to wake you from a nightmare bro

- and they awkwardly just mumble and go back to their beds

- but Zuko is smiling a lot because someone who’s not his family or a family friend really cares about him

- after that, Zuko slowly starts opening up to all of them, but Sokka especially 

- he never really tells them about being cast out and burned tho

- until one day he kinda casually slings it into a convo all fast and awkwardly

- it’s just Toph, Aang and Sokka there

- Toph yells so WHAATTT so loudly and just metalbends the whole fridge into a clump in rage

- Aang cries lmao but he tries to hide to and be supportive and not awkward

- Sokka is kinda quiet, but he carefully asks about it that night when they’re in their beds, and they talk a little about it

- Aang tells Katara (with permission) and she awkwardly, but wholeheartedly tells him that he can always talk to her

- they do that «awkward sibling hug» from Gravity Falls after

- *hugs stiffly* «pat, pat»

- but okay, Toph and metalbending when angry, it happens quite a lot 

- this was the first time it was the fridge, but the toaster, the microwave, and several other appliances have met the same fate

- everyone is kinda used to it now, and she always replaces it

- except Zuko, who’s still kinda new to them all

- but what are you supposed to say when your new friends is so outraged by the abuse you went through that they crush a whole ass fridge?

- it actually reminds him that he’s cared for here, by these people who owe him nothing, and is not related to him, and it makes him a little dizzy to have people care this way

- he casually mentions it to his Uncle Iroh the time he’s in at work, that his new friend is a metalbender and squashed their whole fridge when she was pissed on his behalf

- Iroh is thrilled

- to the point of offering Toph a job lmao

- Toph, desperate to cut of as much ties with her family and be as self-sufficient as possible, agrees

- and now Iroh have two formerly rich kids with no clue about any sort of customer service and basic stuff like that working for him

- Toph is a hard worker tho, and she and Zuko work surprisingly well together

- Katara is a little relived, because the more those two work, the less are the chances of either of them trying to cook or do too many chores around their apartment

- they mean well, or, Zuko does, but he does so much dumb shit when trying to help lmao

- Sokka starts spending a lot of time over at The Jasmine Drago too

- Aang is still trying to keep the fact that Sokka likes Zuko a secret, but he is having trouble

- Katara is his biggest weakness, and now they’re suddenly alone with her a lot

- someone else who could always read Sokka really well is Suki

. whom he used date in high school, but they parted as friends and everything s cool

- but Sokka is a little taken aback when she comes into The Jasmine Dragon one day, hand in hand with Sokka’s childhood crush obsession, Yue

- for the first time in man’s memory, Sokka is a little speechless

- and Suki’s like “lmao dude I haven’t seen you like this since the first time you saw Zu-”

- cue Zuko popping out behind them like “WELCOME TO THE JASMINE DRAGON FRIENDS OF SOKKA :D”

- Sokka is so fucking red, poor boy is just about having an aneurism at this point

- but luckily something happens and Zuko gets distracted

- Suki is having the time of her life tho, Sokka always used to tease her for her crushes before and after they dated, and suddenly, here they are

back to bother u again but!! could u tell us more about azula and the gf u made up for her? the gears in my mind are clicking and im tempted to write about them 👁

i will literally talk about them until you guys dont want to hear it and then, probably long after (also im sorry bc i think this is longer than the first one SKSK)

- so when sokka notices that azula is flustered by nasim, he immediately makes them go over and talk to her, and he spends the whole time talking about how “into lettuce” azula is.

- - nasim thinks she’s really gorgeous, obviously, and as soon as she opens her mouth and is a disaster-- nasim realizes she’s adorable and starts to flirt.

- - - azula basically shuts down like “fairest advisory, i hath never before tasted lettuce but i am well verse in tea pairings for--” sokkas like “why are you talking like an old timey pauper,”

- they get back to the house and sokka tells zuko about it and zuko immediately is like “well i have to meet the woman who has converted my sister into a human being,” 

- he goes with them the next day and abandons his fiancé as soon as they get there to have azula bring him to nasim.

- they find her and nasim is just like fuckin HUH

- - because from nasim’s perspective; the cute awkward girl who tried to talk to you panics when you flirt back and drags her nice, obviously bi sort of familiar looking friend away. aw bummer she left, but whatever that was fun. next day, shes back and this time; she’s with the leader of a fucking soverign country but he introduced himself as “lee” and he’s just as awkward as she is and my god, there’s two of them.

- - - zukos like awkwardly trynna find out if she likes girls while also trying not to lose his mind at azula breaking down. and nasims just like “how DO i respond to this.”

- while the gaangs out and about that night, azula runs into nasim and nasim asks her out to get tea because azula mentioned knowing about it and nasim’s never really gotten into it.

- - azula accepts because she loves knowing about things, and they really get along; like azulas telling stories about iroh being tea obsessed and making jokes and nasims like… actually laughing which has never happened with no threat of violence?? 

- - - and nasim is really enjoying herself because azula’s really funny and actually listens to her talk about the boring shit nasim’s into like the environment and agriculture and seems like genuinely interested (azula never really got to learn about that stuff since ozai always made her focus on military history)

- they part ways and azula finds her brother whos like where’d you run off to? 

- - when she tells them, sokkas like “thats was a date” and zukos like “lmao no that’s was not a date, you and i did that all the time when you were an ambassador!” and sokkas like “... yeah those were dates,”

- anyway, the rest of the gaang finds them and is like “what are you talking about” so zuko spills the beans which is when they all decide to get involved because azula’s like never dated.

- enter: mischief 

- after a week of them being there and seeing each other a lot between random happenstance and the gaang’s interference, nasim invites them all to go on a tour of her family farm (“however, under no circumstance is the avatar is allowed to come” aangs like “understandable and justified! have fun!”)

- - they go and single-minded azula gets really into the farm work which sends nasim’s heart a flutter because hot girl moving hay, helps cow give birth, error error. 

- - - they meet her family too, who mentions they’ve never seen nasim so excited about someone which the gaang is like “hell yeah you go azula” but then azula is like “oh FUCK”

- because of course, azula thinks that nasim if likes her, that means she doesn’t realize who azula is and as soon as she finds out, she will not be interested so she starts to self sabotage bc like that’s her nature.

- after being ghosted for a while, nasim is like “wtf i thought we had something going” and after azula’s talk with katara, she admits her identity and nasim is like “... and?”

- -  she’s like “i knew who you were since the second time we met.” “how?” “... well, you were with the fire lord, who you look exactly like and your name is azula. hop skip and a jump….”

- they start dating and do long distance for a little bit when their vacation ends and azula heads back to the palace, but azula surprisingly, keeps wanting to go back.

- - she has her own hang ups about abandoning zuko and leaving her old life behind, but eventually iroh helps her get through it (i imagine theyve repaired their relationship at this point and iroh’s apologized) so she decides she’s gonna stay until sokka and zuko’s wedding then she’s moving back to nasim’s town and really gonna give being a person a shot.

- (also, i think katara and aang bring nasim to the wedding as a sweet gift and its then azula realizes “oh fuck we really are friends”

the title says it all.

aang - 2/10. aang’s already all about the self love. externalizing it into a perfect duplicate of himself wouldn’t be all that exciting. would have been a 0 but i think he makes the best ‘i can suck my own dick’ jokes about it, because he could already suck his own dick and he did have the best jokes about it then, too

katara - 6/10. she’s too awkward to really take advantage of the opportunities provided, and too low on self loathing to bash thru them until she has a cry fest. i think a lot of it would be careful, embarrassed discussion about nailing down what works and what doesnt. the only reason they escalate to sex is because they get too frustrated trying to talk about it. they enjoy sparring together way more. them sparring together gets a 12/10.

toph - 8/10. she’s a poor communicator and rough and tumble as fuck, but she’s also determined, and not afraid to state when something isnt working for her. dirt goes places it really really shouldnt. all in all they also prefer sparring together tho

sokka - 4/10. :/ sokka’s greatest weapon against awkwardness is humor and deflection, and his double is also trying to be funny and deflect, which means they get caught in loops of increasingly unsexy absurdity when left to their own devices... if they don’t just feel uncomfortably exposed by looking at themselves doing the thing that they know why they do it (to hide from themself). they’re also really bad at sparring together. HOWEVER theyre a 12/10 at threesomes.

zuko - 10/10. hates himself AND a masochist AND has some really intense self love breakthroughs he needs to hit, some of which can only be reached by slapping himself in the face during sex. they don’t ever set out to have sex but it does keep happening. like. a lot. zuko is so pro clone fucking that he’d outlaw clones just to keep himself from achieving happiness.

suki - 9/10. the perfect amount of confidence to really experiment with herself. keeps making the same jokes at the same time and cracking herself up. delighted that she can split her daily list of duties with someone she can actually trust to get the shit done. finally, there’s enough suki to go around. 3 point reduction because they’re both tops 2 point addition because for the first time she can be well rested during sex

mai - 1/10. i dont think comparing near identical knife collections counts as sex, but she apparently does, so she gets one point for it. i wont kinkshame

azula - 0/10 if youre considering number of orgasms achieved 69/10 if youre considering pure comedic potential. the problem is that azula can’t comprehend self care. royalty doesnt care for themselves. they pay other people to do that.

ty lee - 10/10. she knows how to have a good time with herself. experimental AF. inventing what they think might be new positions (theyre not, but only because humanity has existed a very long time). BEST of anyone at the afterglow. really excited about the ways this opens up new hairstyles, since just because your arms can bend that far back and up for an extended period of time doesn’t mean you should do it.

jet - 5/10. can’t imagine it being bad, exactly, but jet’s kind of a selfish lover, and he doesn’t put the workday down easy. no matter how hard two of him work, there’s always more left to do, and time wasted on taking care of shit like this could be used doing literally anything more productive.

As we all know, Zuko, once stripped of his anger, is left with awkwardness as his predominant trait.

We also know the Gaang is super affectionate toward one another, and they compliment each other all the time.

I hc that the first person to compliment him is Sokka, and Zuko’s immediate reaction is oh fuck I’m too gay for this.

It started bc Sokka and Zuko were talking and Sokka goes “y’knwo Zuko, when you’re not hunting us down, you’re actually really fun to talk to.”

And Zuko goes red in the face and manages to stutter out a “thanks.”

Aang compliments him during their life changing friend trip (when he calls him smart) and Zuko smiles, because he’s a little less awkward around Aang (surprisingly, considering their history) and he appreciates the comment, since he was always compared to Azula’s “superior intellect” growing up.

Toph goes one evening around the campfire “Wow, Sparky, you’re actually pretty funny when you don’t try so hard” and Zuko’s a disaster and just blurts out “uhhhHH I LIKE JOKES”.

Everyone giggles.

Zuko finds that he’s okay with it.

Katara, post TSR, compliments Zuko casually, in passing, and it makes Zuko feel good because she always seems so genuine. Katara says what’s on her mind, which he admires about her.

“You’re doing a great job training Aang. He’s improved a lot lately.” Stuff like that.

Suki, when she joins the group again, is a little salty at first but eventually warms up and one day she casually goes “Sokka and I both agree your hair looks nice like that” and Zuko can’t function properly around either of them for a week.

But Sokka’s compliments always make Zuko a little lightheaded.

(One day, after the war, Sokka’s ruffles Zuko’s hair and smiles as he says “I like it like this, you should keep it” and Zuko agrees without even thinking.)

After a while, Zuko gets used to the compliments and tries to return them, although they come off a little stilted half of the time. No I’ve seems to mind.

I think Kenma would be able to understand this really well

He seems like the type to dislike being touched, it might be because he just doesn’t like it or because it isn’t something he is used to, I don’t think he is a physical touch person

Therefore, he would be very understanding and respectful of your space, he would always ask before touching you and just to make sure you’re okay with it

Kenma wants to make sure you are comfortable~

And in return you do the same with him,,,, relationships are all about exploring and learning the other person so I feel like Kenma would really appreciate if you also respected his boundaries

That doesn’t mean he isn’t going to cuddle you or hug you because,,,, he is but he just needs to get used to it

If you ever flinch around him, he would get really worried

He’d straight out ask you why you don’t like being touched, not in a rude way but he is genuinely curious

“I can’t stand whenever people touch me.” Kenma winces as another person brushes past his shoulder, he has to refrain from rolling his eyes. He glances down at where you are practically shoved into his chest, looking just as uncomfortable. “Are you okay?” He asks and you mutter back a ‘fine’. “I know it’s rush hour but we will get off soon, it’s just a few more stops.” He tells you quietly and you nod, trying to focus on his voice.

Once the two of you finally get to your stop, you feel like you can breathe again. You step off the train with light feet and glance at Kenma to make sure he is behind you. At the last second, an older man knocks his shoulder into yours, making you wince and Kenma has barely any time to pull you close to him before the train closes once again.

“What a dick.” Your boyfriend glares at the receding train, his eyes practically freeze the businessman in place. “(Y/N), are you okay?” He asks again and you nod, though you’re mentally replaying the scene over and over again.

“I’m not used to people touching me, I kind of hate it.” You tell him quietly and Kenma looks at his hands clutching your shoulders. “I like when you touch me though, d-don’t worry!” You throw him a reassuring smile and Kenma nods slightly.

“I don’t like when people touch me, it feels gross in a way.” He confesses and you nod understandingly. “I like when you touch me though, I always have. I guess it just takes time to get used to.” 

His words make you feel better, Kenma is always so understanding and supportive with any of the issues you face.

“We have time, right?” You ask him timidly and Kenma hooks his pinky in yours while you two walk towards the exit of the station.

“Yeah, we do.”

Sawamura Daichi

I feel like Daichi would pick up on the way you act around others when he first starts crushing on you..... He’d notice very quickly the way you avoid your friend’s touches

Probably after you start dating he would ask you about it, because he wants to make sure he doesn’t make you uncomfortable. When you explain that you just aren’t used it, Daichi will definitely note it

Daichi would be very cautious with you, I feel like he would be really good at making sure you feel relaxed

He would be more protective of you when around others and will always act like a barrier whenever you started getting nervous

Daichi would notice very quickly how you flinch or wince away from his touches

He’d be really worried and put his hand on your shoulder, just hovering it over your shirt, to see how you would react

His mind would run for hours and he’d ultimately confront you with asking what’s wrong, why you flinch away from his touches

It’s not in an overbearing, guilt way, Daichi is just really worried that is was something bad that happened in the past

He would always reassure you and tell you that he’d never hit you, never lay a hand on you in a violent way

It starts with him gaining your trust little by little but you tell him that he doesn’t have to worry too much because you already enjoy his touch so much~ just not too much of it,,,

“Hey babe,” Daichi calls from behind you, you look at the doorway of the classroom and smile when you notice your post-practice boyfriend.

“Hi, Daichi.” You smile and then clean up your supplies, messily shoving them into your bag. “Hold on, I was just finishing my homework.”

Daichi gives you a small encourage praise, telling you how smart you are, before ruffling your hair. You can’t help but laugh at the act of endearment while the two of you walk out of the building. When you get to the gates of the school you notice a few other players still left from practice and you timidly stare at the ground.

“Hey (Y/N)!” Sugawara waves and you give him a gentle smile before waving back. You notice a few of the first years running out of the gym and you jump behind Daichi, almost getting nailed by the hyper duo.

“Oi!” Daichi calls at Kageyama and Hinata but they’re already too far gone to ever hear. “Are you okay?” He asks quietly and you nod, squeezing his arm reassuringly. You continue to talk with Sugawara for a few more minutes before you split up and walk your separate ways home. “You’re so quiet today, are you sure everything is okay?” Daichi asks, carefully looking at you and you simply shrug. 

“I’m just tired, I guess.” You yawn and refrain from leaning your head on Daichi’s shoulder.

“You can use me for support.” Your boyfriend offers out his arm and you glance between his wrist and his eyes.

“Really? Are you sure?” You ask and Daichi nods reassuringly, gently motioning to his arm. You grab onto his jacket and cautiously rest your head on his shoulder. “Is this okay?”

“Yup, it’s perfectly fine,” Daichi tells you and you bite the inside of your cheek. His body heat slowly starts to warm you up and you start randomly talking about things that happened today. Daichi continues to smile down at you with fond eyes, listening, and hanging onto your every word while brushing his hand against your own. His subtle touches like this make you feel so safe, it’s a feeling you never thought you’d experience.

Tendou Satori

Listen, Tendou is going to have a hard time with this one

He just seems like the type whose love language is physical touch

So he might not pick up on it at first,,,, he just wants to shower you in all his love and hugs and everything he can do

However, when Tendou starts to notice the way you cower away from his hands or you avoid his hugs he would be worried

He would ask you about it and when you tell him that you aren’t really comfortable with touching people because of things that happened in the past, then Tendou would mentally facepalm himself

He’d be really relieved though, I feel like he would try joking and say something like ‘I thought it’s because I smelled bad!’

Tendou just wants you to feel the best, the same way he feels whenever he is with you

He’d slowly work up your tolerance with his touches, little things like holding your pinky or simply brushing his hand against yours

It’s not that you dislike the way he touches you because you actually enjoy them, it’s just that you can’t help but be too cautious with them

Tendou now knows this, which is why he is much more careful with you, he’d never want to do anything to make his precious Angel feel cornered :-(

“All I’m saying (Y/N),” Tendou spits jokingly. “if I were there at the agni kai I would have fought alongside Azula. Fuck a bitch named Katara.” Your boyfriend has been ranting for the last twenty minutes about the ending of Avatar and why he thinks there should have been a fourth season. “I’ll start bending the lightning.” He threatens and shoots his hand up into the air to ‘redirect lightning’, the sudden movement causes you to flinch and curl in on yourself and Tendou jumps back dramatically at your movement. He tilts his head curiously and you offer him a small reassuring smile like you didn’t just back away from his touch. “Baby, I’m not going to actually electrocute you, ”

Tendou gently cups your face and frowns at the way you wince at his touch, you’re staring at his hands like they burn you. It isn’t that his touch is bad, you’re just not used to it. Tendou knows this and in return has scaled back his love language of physical touch to help you feel more comfortable, but here and there he does slip up.

“You don’t like this?” He asks and you know it’s not in a way to make you feel guilty, Tendou genuinely wants to know if you're okay with this.

“No, I do like it,” You whisper and stare at the ground. “I’m just not used to it so it feels weird.” It feels nice to get this off your chest and Tendou internally fights with himself between backing away or holding you close. Instead, you make the decision for him. Your hands come up and cup his own as you give him a gentle smile. “I really like your touch Tendou.”

Your boyfriend goes quiet and you get a little nervous at his reaction, he is internally melting at how cute you are. Keep it together Tendou, keep it together.

“And I really, really like you (Y/N)~”

Tsukishima Kei

Tsukishima is another person who strikes me as one who doesn’t like being touched too much

Whether that is just an assholey thing, like me, or it is awkward for him…. Idk,,

All I know is this mf doesn’t like being touched unless he actually likes the person like Yamaguchi or Nishinoya

You’d think with that big head of his, heyyyy big head, he would also note the way you aren’t really comfortable with being touched

He doesn’t….. This mf just thinks it is because of him, that you don’t like being touched by him

This will end up with him bottling his feelings, like Tsukishima does, until he eventually grows tired and explodes

Telling you all sorts of things he doesn’t mean and you’re just standing there like…. What

And then you explain to him that you just aren’t a fan of being touched that much, though you do really like the way he touches you and Tsukishima is like,,, ‘oh so I am the asshole’

This confrontation though would make him much more understanding and it would probably clear out the tense air that was hanging around the two of you, it makes Tsukishima appreciate you even more and you both would become even closer

Maybe one day it’ll come to the point where you have to beg Tsukishima for touches and not the other way around LOL

“Do you even like me?” Tsukishima asks one day while you’re walking home after school, you turn to him in complete confusion. What brought this up? Tsukishima scoffs at your expression and takes it as a motive to continue. “You don’t like it when I touch you.” He states and at that moment, brushes his hand against yours. You pull your hand back to your side at the soft touch, not at all expecting him to do that.

“Why would you even date someone if you don’t like them?” Tsukishima’s nose twitches in annoyance and he reaches out to grab your hand, at his quick movement you flinch and bring your hands up to cover your head. Immediately you duck as a reflex. “Huh?” He blinks down at you, his heart tightens in his chest at the way you distance yourself away from him. “Did you think I was going to hit you?”

“Of course not,” You answer quickly and brutally honest, you know Tsukishima would never touch you like that even if teases you and he says he would. “sorry I’m not really accustomed to touches like that yet. I do really like you though.” You bite the inside of your cheek and try to turn your face to hide your embarrassment. Tsukishima internally sighs, fuck, he is an asshole.

“I’m sorry,” He starts and you glance at him in shock. “for scaring you and accusing you of not liking me.” Tsukishima mutters and you quickly open your mouth again but he cuts you off before you can even say anything. “I shouldn’t pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do.”

“I do, I do want to hold your hand and touch you but I just haven’t gotten used to it.” You tell him and Tsukishima hums under his breath. “Do you believe me?"

“Obviously, idiot.” He gentle knocks his knuckles against your forehead, walking closely next to you as you two make your way back to your houses. Tsukishima respects your space and most importantly respects you~

but if you think about it, zuko’s actually badass and azula is a total square. like azula is smoother and more put together and wittier and definitely more intimidating, but she’s also a total goody-two shoes. sure, she’s super mean about it, but she’s very law-abiding and and thorough and kind of a dweeb?? she looks both ways before crossing the street because “safety first!” whereas zuko walks through traffic just daring cars to hit him. zuko asks azula how great-grandpa sozin died because he spaced out during their history lessons, but he has very strong opinions on how “love amongst the dragons” should’ve been staged. azula is the perfect little golden child who has honed all the skills and has all the opinions expected of her from her father and from her society. she’s good at fighting because she’s supposed to be. she’s cunning and ruthless because that’s the sign of a good leader. meanwhile zuko may be awkward and weird and wholly unthreatening, but you gotta give it up for him when he swings massive swords he was never supposed to know how to use, or how his “fuck it; if i die i die” attitude is actually kinda metal when you ignore the larger context shaping his actions. in the context of her conquest-obsessed culture, azula is a total prep. but disregard all the things about him that make him a lame nerd, and zuko is actually pretty cool.

That other thing about Minecraft made think of a modern day au where either Zuko or Azula are a popular streamer. They're secretly in a relationship and have to go through great lengths to hide it. Until one day where Zuko/Azula takes a break, but forgets/fails to turn to camera off as the other comes in for some affection. The viewers and chat see everything.

This would be absolutely hilarious, awkward, ridiculous, and I absolutely fucking love it. (I'll answer this assuming they live in a country where incest is, at the very least, not illegal because it's more fun)

Even if they got banned from whatever platform they were using (I barely know how youtube works, don't get me started on Twitch or whatever the fuck people use) they'd probably get A LOT of attention and could easily turn said attention into money and a themselves into well known, infamous, highly successfull personalities if they play their cards (considering Azula is Azula, I say that is likely to happen).

If their friends and family were not aware of their relationship before the incident, BOY, that would be one hell of a nightmare situation for everyone involved. I feel they'd all come to accept it eventually, but I can already see the disclaimers of "We do not approve of their relationship" every time they defend Zuko and Azula from harassment (online and off-line).

Also there would 100% be rumors about some video of them boning being leaked online, and people are DESPERATE to find it because holy shit, it's ACTUAL INCEST porn! great comet is LITERALLY tied for my fav musical (les mis is the other it was the first show i ever saw and it was amazing and enjfoaiend so many feelings for that musical)

one of the big things with sokkla as a ship is that most of the fics i read and most of the art i see if that many sokkla fans and artists rlly play into the whole forbidden romance theme; moreso than any other fm swt pairing in the series (ie zutara zukka azutara u get the gist)

and this song is ALL ABOUT THE FORBIDDEN ROMANCE

you see: fiyero in wicked is a carefree guy who plays up his charm and plays dumb a lot when in actuality i think hes a very smart character. i know sokka doesnt pretend to act dumb and thats a difference between him n fiyero: but the fact that theyre both pretty smart strategic characters is why i associate them with eachother

azula as elphaba?? HANDS DOWN AMAZING. elphaba is an outsider. she isnt liked by many people. she is very thoughtful and precise with her actions and has shown she can be cunning and manipulative when she needs to be. sound familiar? consider a post-redemption arc azula for this role. just just think of it.

now onto the lyrics:

elphaba in this moment cant rlly believe that the fact that she is with fiyero is reality. azula has been seen in the finale of atla to struggle in terms of reality and people wanting her (ie her mother saying she loves her and azula not believing it because it isnt real) i know this is a bit of a stretch because elphaba isnt hallucinating and has never been known to do so, but azula and elphaba definitely both have issues with people genuinely loving them and wanting them.

LJGFJHGF my favorite hc that i have for sokkla is that while they are the two smartest characters in all of atla: they become dumb when it comes to each other. thats personally a hc i have for this ship and this line just supports that wholeheartedly. Sokka becomes a lovesick idiot when it comes to azula and he knows this. so is he dumb for acting like an idiot around her? or is he smart for loving her anyways. (both. its both.) also just the symbolism and implications of sokka saying this line when we all know hes a genius but in the show hes seen as insecure in his abilities and strengths just.... wow. this line is so sokka it makes me lakshfgwky

this is less to do with the ship itself but moreso with the fandom ab the ship. lots of people dont like this ship (and thats fine! not every ship is for everyone) and they think that it wouldnt work out and while i personally disagree i think this line is good for pointing that out. because ppl think it would never work and that its doomed and maybe since sokka and azula are both geniuses they recognize that their relationship may look that way to other people too. they arent dumb. theyd know how people would look at them as a couple and theyd realize that hey maybe this wont work, but i dont care because right now im with you anyways: sokkla core

zutara and bamon!

Zutara:

Why I ship them (or why I do not): Ooooh Zutara. They're one of my oldest ships and one that I ALWAYS drift back to eventually when it comes to phases lol. I started shipping them back when I was about thirteen and they were one of my first major introductions to online fan works. The first time I watched ATLA it was when it was first airing and I was only a young kid, so I naturally just 'shipped' the canon pairings. But when I found out that Zutara was a thing I was intrigued by it and a bunch of meta and fics later, I was hooked. I just love the fire and water symbolism of them and the way they parallel each other. Their relationship development and the mutual understanding and respect they have for each other by the end of the show. There's just....so much interesting storytelling material for Zutara. And I think that's one of the biggest reasons they're so popular.

My favorite moment between them: I feel like this changes all the time but I think right now it would be the cave scene in Ba Sing Se. Despite Zuko's betrayal afterwards I just loved how these two people who were enemies for the entire time they've known each other bonded and found some understanding between each other. Also Katara offering to use the water from the oasis to heal Zuko's scar and Zuko letting her touch the scar???? Kill me. I feel like a lot of what I love about Zutara is represented in that scene alone.

My least favorite moment between them: I don't think there is a ZK scene that I hate. I mean, I don't like the infamous pirate scene in book 1 but I also think people make it out to be a lot worse than it actually was. (I've seen people compare it to the R*ylo scene where Kylo captures and tortures Rey and that is so undeserved and extra.)

The character I prefer: Zuko is my socially awkward son and I have a special love for him so he's definitely my personal fave. There aren't many character arcs that make me as emotional as his. BUT at the same time I know Katara is queen and she's definitely my second fave.

A fanfic idea for them that I would love to read or write: The post-war idea I have where Mai leaves Zuko for Ty Lee, Katara and Aang breakup amicably, and then Zuko and Katara fall for each other on a trip together to visit a healing Azula lives in my mind rent free.

What I would have changed about how canon handled them if I could: As amazing as canon Zutara done right would have been, I'm kind of okay with them not being canon? Mostly because with the exception of Sukka I think Bryke sucks at writing romance lmao. And I have more than enough ZK fanwork to keep me satisfied. BUT in a perfect world I would have had Zutara been implied as a future romance in the end and erased the K*taang and Ma*ko stuff. (The gaang are all literal children. I think it would have been more than fine if they ended the series all single.)

Bamon:

Why I ship them (or why I do not): They had great chemistry and were just a fun dynamic with a lot of potential (especially in the later seasons after they became friends.) I think their development from begrudging allies (and occasional enemies) to friends was fun to see and always an underrated dynamic in TVD and I would have loved to have seen it go all the way to lovers.

My favorite moment between them: Damon reciting the letter he wrote to Bonnie before he put himself in the coffin that she never read always gets me in the feels.

My least favorite moment between them: For some reason I can't really remember a specific scene but I know there were plenty in the early seasons that made me angry lol

The character I prefer: Oh definitely Bonnie. She was a queen that always deserved better than the way that shitty ass show treated her. She's the only reason I stuck with TVD as long as I did. I do admittedly have some kind of soft spot for Damon too though and I prefer him as a character over Stefan. But I completely understand why people hate him lmao 🥴

A fanfic idea for them that I would love to read or write: It's been soooo long since I've even thought about Bamon fic. But back in the day S6 canon divergents were my shit and I'd be down to reading one again if there are new ones out.

What I would have changed about how canon handled them if I could: Here's how I think I would have made them canon starting in S6: Damon and Bonnie would have had a frenemies with benefits kind of arrangement while they were stuck in the prison world together. (Honestly it's ridiculous to me that they didn't on the show. Two people with chemistry stuck in a prison world together with only each other for company, not expecting to escape and they never once fucked? Fffs). Once they're both free from the prison world there's this lingering Tension between them even though they obviously decided to stop having sex now that they were both free. Bonnie now feels off seeing Damon and Elena together and she eventually realizes it's because she's developed feelings for him. But she keeps it to herself out of loyalty to Elena and Damon has been obsessed with Elena for almost as long as Bonnie's known him so there's no way he'd feel the same anyway.

This would continue on for a while until we got to S7, where Damon decides to put himself in a coffin until Elena wakes up. I would have had part of his decision to do this be because he realized he has feelings for Bonnie and felt like he was betraying Elena by having them, so he ran.

Cut to Damon returning and Bonnie suddenly being in a relationship with Enzo. Damon would have been insanely jealous and this would have kicked off a Damon/Bonnie/Enzo triangle. Maybe Damon has some kind of talk with Stefan that makes him realize it's okay for him to want to be with Bonnie, that Elena wouldn't have wanted him to be miserable while she was gone. The triangle would have eventually ended with Bonnie/Enzo breaking up and Damon/Bonnie getting together. (And the 'Dear Bonnie' scene would have been re-written to be a reveal that Damon confessed to being in love with Bonnie and not knowing what to do about it in the letter). We would have then seen Damon and Bonnie as a couple throughout the entirety of S8, with the finale having the implication that Damon was going to stay with Bonnie throughout her whole human life and then one day in the far future reconcile with Elena. (Basically the same way the Will/Tessa/Jem situation was in The Infernal Devices.) What really sucks is that the TVD writers could have EASILY done something like this if they weren't cowards.

okay lemme just sprinkle some yueki into your feed real quick

let’s ignore the fact I’m about to change so much of the canon plot

anyway so

let’s say as in book one they arrive at the northern water tribe like usual sokka has his schoolboy crush on yue and as in canon she is engaged to another man

but on the moonlit meeting instead of just confessing she is married to another man she confides in sokka that she actually also is doing it to cover up the fact she likes girls

The Southern water tribe is very small and I can imagine them being very excepting of different sexualities as they are very close and tightly knit so they are probably very supportive and caring

however we’ve seen how the Northern water tribe is much larger on formalities and with a casual sexism ingrained in their society I can imagine that homosexual relationships are probably disapproved of

therefore being royalty in the Northern water tribe she probably decides that for political power and presentation it will be best just to cover up and marry a man

however ever sokka has been so sweet to her ever since he arrived and coming from a place that she’s heard is more excepting she takes a leap of faith and confesses her true motives for not being with him

and sokka being sokka is just immediately cool and completely supports her so instead of being there as a lover he is there as a friend to distract and support her while she has what looks like a bleak life in front of her of pretending to be someone she’s not

but then comes the fire nation attack and zhao being an absolute piece of trash and kills one of the water spirits and yue has to sacrifice herself 

but just imagine as she does this but the spirit only take some of her life force and allows her to live as well almost as a thanks for her sacrifice

and she is overjoyed because she’s allowed to live however now it’s time for the avatar and sokka to move on and she suddenly gets this horrible feeling of being isolated and alone her entire life because sokka was the first real friend she’s ever had and she’s been able to confide so much in him

so she says the fuck it and decided she’s going to escape from the northern water leaving a message for her father admitting the truth about who she is and travel secretly with the avatar among the nations helping them in any way she can

obviously being a royal she doesn’t know that much about the outside world or about combat fighting however with sokka as her teacher and actually knowing a lot about political powers in the outside world I can imagine that she would be a useful ally to the gaang 

skipping forward to book 2 episode 12 we finally see suki again but this time yue is there

they first see her when they’re trying to enter ba sing se and right off the bat yue is so into her however here comes the problem that so is sokka and she obviously does not want to hurt him in anyway so she kind of just pretend her feelings don’t exist as she usually does

but it’s actually really hard to see one of the first girls she’s ever felt feelings for and can now be open about them she still has to hide them for fear of hurting her friends

regardless this is the last time she sees or hears of Suki until they invade the fire nation until the day of the black sun when azula mentions she has been arrested and put in prison

then obviously they have to escape the fire nation and take refuge in an air nomad temple but yue hasn’t stopped thinking about Suki ever since she met her let alone now she knows she’s in fire nation custody

and when sokka confides in her that he plans to break her out of prison yue, with her new training decides to tag along on the mission with zuko and sokka because even if she can’t be with Suki romantically like hell she’ll just let her rot in a fire nation prison

the boiling rock episodes go more or less the same where she pretends to be a guard like sokka and helps with the prison break although it’s kind of uncomfortable for her the entire time because she has these feelings for Suki that she has to hide

nonetheless they break her out and she is now free and comes back to the air temple with them

now they have quite a bit of time where they’re just at the temple with aang learning fire bending and waiting until they can attack again

and during this time she actually gets really close to Suki as a friend

at first it’s kind of awkward because they don’t know each other that well and they only met once but gradually as the others train suki notices that yue has dramatically less experience even if she is a diligently strong fighter

so she offeres to help and teach her some of the kyoshi moves

yue absolutely loves this idea until she realises how intimate training can be and how much Suki ends up touching her even if it’s just slightly change her position or adjust her stance she realises that training was probably one of the worst idea she’s ever had because the entire time she’s having the biggest lesbian panic

but aside from training they also begin to become close friends, yue opening up about how much she misses home even though they forced her to be something she’s not and Suki opening up about how much she misses the kyoshi warriors as they are like family to her

but then I can imagine that sometime in the air temple Suki and sokka kind of agree that they just work better as friends and that their romantic relationship was lovely but they just work better in a platonic way

and I head canon that yue absolutely loves to look up at the moon because it reminds her of home but also how she got here and the connections she has to water bending and the spirits so I can imagine while the rest of the gaang sleeps she always sneaks out and just stares at the moon for hours on end

but imagine Suki starts to notice this behaviour and instead of calling her out on it just joins her occasionally and watches the moon silently with her and that they have these quiet intimate moments they have every now and again

however one night Suki seems kind of down when she joins her and yue has noticed that her visits are getting more and more frequent and Suki only really comes out there when she is struggling to sleep herself so she asks what’s up and Suki confesses that her and sokka broke up

anyway even though she’s really into Suki her first priority making sure her friends are okay

 Suki explains that it was a mutual decision and she’s not heartbroken in anyway because her and sokka both decided that they work better as friends and their relationship is better when it’s platonic but nonetheless she did really like him and it’s still a shame

and yue is just here listening on the edge of her seat because her crush is finally single

but she also feels really awkward because it’s her best friends ex and also a presumably straight girl so she just decides to pretend once again have feelings do not exist

but from then on every night Suki joins her even if its only for a 10-20 minutes it’s an everyday sort of thing and sometimes they sit for hours at a time in a comfortable silence or talking quietly about things and gradually their relationship grows more and more intimate

until one night they’re just sitting in the moonlight and yue accidentally starts staring at Suki and she doesn’t mean to but she can’t help but admire her beauty so Suki jokingly says “see something you like?” upon noticing yue’s gaze

and yue just lesbian panics so hard and it’s just like “no no just looking at the moon” and Suki starts teasing her jokingly of course but yue actually finds it really hard because she’s trying to deny these feelings and her being all cute about it is not helping 

but trying to defuse the awkwardness Suki confesses that she finds yue very pretty too and yue just kind of sits there gobsmacked and Suki goes on to say all of these wonderful things about her about how she’s not just pretty but she’s also kind and caring and sensitive but is also an amazing person with a forgiving heart

and yue is just kind of sitting there in shock because it started out as teasing and now she’s going on this huge tangent about what an amazing person she is and yue swears she’s never been more in love with anyone in her entire life

and the entire time Suki has been staring at this moon must suddenly after she finishes her tangent about how amazing yue is and as she turns to look at her yue realises that in this moment she doesn’t care about anything else but her

so she kisses her

and Suki at first is kind of shocked but she doesn’t pull away until after a few seconds and in those few seconds she stares at back at yue are the most terrifying of yue’s life because she thinks she’s made the most terrible mistake ever and completely misread every signal she gave her and thought that she had a horrible misunderstanding

but then Suki suddenly just kisses yue and her brain just completely collapses in on itself because she has no idea how to deal with all these feelings but they end up kissing for awhile under the moonlight and after some time Suki gently pulls away and rest her forehead against yue’s and just says so delicately “i’ve been wanting to do that for a long time”

and yue just shuts off because this is too much because she just kissed the girl of her dreams and found out that the feelings she feels are not one-sided 

but after that they have a long talk about their relationship and about how they both obviously feel more than platonic feelings and about Suki being bisexual and realise that dating is actually something that really love to do but of course with sokka they don’t want to hurt him they decide to secretly date and just go slow for awhile

and it all goes well but yue is a terrible liar and feels horrible from concealing this from sokka so while the rest of the gang are out and the three of them are left at the temple they decide that they should tell him

and they are completely terrified he’s going to be really horrible about it but they sit him down and confesses that they are dating and sokka is just like “took you guys long enough” 

and they just sit there opened mouth because they thought that they’ve been so good at hiding their feelings for each other that no one in the group suspected they’re dating

but sokka says he could tell from the beginning yue had feelings for Suki but didn’t wanna push so just left them in peace but then once him and Suki agreed they worked better as friends he was basically just waiting for them to end up telling him that they’ve gotten together

and they are both just so shocked he isn’t mad but he confesses that he is also bisexual and has feelings for zuko that he’s been repressing for awhile and isn’t going to face any time soon but has nonetheless and that he completely support and loves their relationship

and they’re both so relieved and so happy

and yeah from there they go into finally defeat the fire nation and win the war and afterwards yue returns home to her people and she is so overwhelmed by the amount of love and support she receives when she returns home and her father confessing he never meant to make her feel like an outcast but just wanted what was best for her and the water tribe

but yue isn’t ready to come home yet so she continues to travel with Suki for awhile and the avatar as they continue postwar to do whatever is necessary to make peace

but later on she’s called back home as it’s time for her to take the position as chief and she feels she’s going to have to leave all of her friends behind however with zuko as the fire lord and the fire nation as a close ally and the avatar needing to protect all places in the world she’s actually still really close to everyone

and on top of that Suki decides to move to the Southern water tribe with her and she works as a bodyguard and also bring some of her kyoshi warrior friends as well as training some non-benders in the Northen water tribe some martial arts while there

and yeah they are just like bad ass wives in the Northam water tribe together

Okay so this is dumb brainrot idea, the story stays pretty much the same however there WILL be character changes and all that jazz, not let's get into casting-

Aang- Pouncival. This dude is the fucking Avatar but he's also a clueless dumbass who's first act when he comes out of that ice is to yell out for his sky bison and stare bewildered at these freaked out kids. He has the look and personality of a shithead twelve year old boy but sometimes that weird ancient wisdom comes out at the most random times. He's here to save the world and it can't be that hard, right???

Katara- Victoria. She's the calm and level-headed mom of the group but also the pettiest. She'll bring you a cup of water when you ask for ice and simply say "wait." Just wants everyone to make it out of this thing alive, even her stupid brother. She basically steps up as the responsible one cause someone has to and she mothers everyone. However she will not hesitate to beat someone's ass, especially stupid brother.

Sokka- Mungojerrie. He's the jokester and group clown but also like really smart at random times and surprisingly shrewd. He's one of the older members of the gaang so he's the one to pull that "back in my day" shit. He's also the warrior of the group and sometimes messes up bad and tries to fight the most random people but he's trying okay?

Toph- Jemima. She seems super sweet and cheerful at first but she can and will kick your ass. Everyone in the gaang is scared of her(and should be) so clueless strangers are like "lmao you're terrified of that girl?" so she slowly takes off her flower crown, asks Jerrie to hold it for her and beats you up. Being blind has made her really keen and observant so she's also kind of smart? Extremely competitive and can make a bet out of anything.

Zuko- Plato. The son of a dictator he's used to just trying to be this angry stuck up prince and he has a lot of bottled up issues from his childhood that lead to him coming off as very edgy and cold. However as soon as he decides time to be better and wins over the gaang, they find out how much of a dork he can be. Due to y'know the way he was raised he's very socially awkward and is just constantly trying to shift into the group dynamic. Proves himself very lovable.

Suki- Bombalurina. She's a badass who can destroy any man and look perfect doing it. Teaches Mungojerrie to chug his "respect women" juice and is just so respected by the others. She's just a huge girlboss who the entire gaang loves(and simps for just a little.) She's also hugely competitive and she and Jemima are constantly arm wresting or teaching each other little things about combat. It's just like learning from the other's perspective.

Iroh- Old Deuteronomy. He's an old man who has learned to redeem himself and hopes the same for his nephews. Very serene and wise, often offering his unprompted advice or opinions. He never officially joins the gaang but by the time the war ends he's basically a grandpa to all of them and opens his own tea shop. Insanely wise but also very chaotic, he'll wear socks and sandals cause he knows it bothers you.

Azula- Alonzo with a twist! He also has childhood issues and considering he doesn't really see the point in trying to fight destiny or some shit like that, he's decided it's best to just be what his father's always wanted and try to replace the disappointment Plato became. Despite his attempts to be more vindictive, a part of him is always thinking about maybe his brother was the smart one escaping the fate of Fire Lord. The longer he stays with his father, the more destitute and unstable he feels. Eventually Plato and Alonzo have a confrontation and he just gives up. Although it's harder for him to escape the mindset taught by his father and confront his childhood issues(a whole lot of angst basically) , Alonzo eventually officially joins the gaang's side.

Ty Lee- Tugger. Comes off super ditzy and playful but he's like a really good fighter. Due to being a former circus acrobat has some drama queen tendencies and quite flamboyant. He's a bit of a flirt and although the gaang won't admit it, most of them would simp for him. Although he never really stopped to think about if any of this was wrong, he eventually grows sick of the war and he and Misto escape the Fire Nation together, Bomba basically taking them under her wing to become honorary Kyoshi warriors.

Mai- Mistoffelees. Very edgy and intimidating at first glance but actually quite chaotic. He's only a shithead around his friends(so basically Alonzo, Tugger and Plato at some point) and puts on that dark mysterious aura for others cause he loves seeing how unnerved they are by him. Used to consider Plato one of his best friends and was initially quite betrayed by him switching sides.

Um, I'm tired so that's all I'm gonna ramble about this AU for now.
