Lemme see… first couple of answers are a little shorter this time, I think? I don’t have a huge amount to say for these ones-

I… am so behind that I haven’t actually seen what new Moon is like yet- I’m kinda iffy on how much I like Old Moon rn but I shall see if my opinion changes once I finally catch up (I’ll probably reblog this with an updated answer, we shall see)

7. Who is your favorite minor character?

Is Monty a minor character? He feels more like a secondary character with how much he shows up… hm… ima say that the Trash Man is one of my favorite minor characters. His intro with Bloodmoon was very hilarious, and I just enjoyed his dynamic with the BM lads a lot in general. ALSO I rly like Computer as well- I even made a design for both of the Computers (EC voice and Davis voice) because why the heck not? I should digitalize some more of my designs and post about them eventually…

32. What is your most favorite plot-focused “in VRChat” episode?

Man this one’s difficult… off the top of my head, one of my favorites would be the one where Eclipse kinda showed his true colors to Lunar for the firstish time (the one where Lunar tried to stand up for himself against Eclipse who was demanding he go back in the daycare), and another one would be Bloodmoon’s origin story video. For the first one, I enjoyed it because it felt like a good turning point in the arc that they had for Lunar at the time (in which he begun to realize that, unlike Lunar, Eclipse saw him not as a brother but as a tool), and- if I remember the episode well enough- the acting in that episode was pretty good. I’ve also seen some really good animatics of the scenes from that one, which I think also kind of increase my enjoyment of it. As for the second one, well, Bloodmoon is definitely one of my favorite characters from the series, and I like the Blood Bros’ dynamic with one another. It’s strangely wholesome, for a pair of blood-obsessed killers. Their line about them ‘not needing a Sun’ was also pretty wholesome imo. I actually drew art based on this episode a while back, it was one of my first posts on this platform actually.

i think that we need to get over the narrative that you can’t have gay villains because that’s a harmful stereotype because there’s a huge difference between “this character is gay and a bad person” and “this character was written specifically to equate being gay and being evil/depraved/degenerate”. it’s just such a narrow minded view of fiction that leads to people afraid to write queer characters as anything less than morally perfect and then to a bunch of palatable but bland and boring queer characters that are arguably worse representation than a gay villain because they are not allowed to do anything wrong. while it is important to write all types of gay characters a work isn’t instantly “problematic” because the villain is queer and the hero isn’t. I think this is also related to the idea of subtext vs text in gay media and how I see a lot of people get mad bc the homoerotic subtext isn’t made canon without considering the context of it at all—sometimes creators make artistic decisions for reasons other than that they didn’t want the gay people to kiss because they’re homophobic. well written queer subtext can be better than a canon gay couple with no personality or relevance and a queer villain can be a better queer character than a gay hero because the characters in-universe morality isn’t inherently tied to how much care they are written with and the quality of “queer representation” isn’t determined by the amount of times they kiss on screen.

#mainly this is brought on by mgs discourse surrounding vamp and volgin and ocelot #I was telling a friend who isn’t into mgs about how ocelot is gay and a sadist and they asked if there were any good gay characters in mgs #and I was like um well no one is really a good character in this series. but yeah I guess #and they said ‘then the game is redeemed’ #that was pretty disappointing to me im not making a callout for my friend or anything but like. you cant judge a work on its rep #by weighing the number of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ queer characters mathematically #it’s shallow and reductive both to queer rep and the concept of gray morality #never mind that ocelot is one of the most important well written and beloved characters in the franchise. hes gay and evil so that must #make him a derogatory stereotype and ‘bad representation’ #anyway I think ocelot should torture and kill more people for fun #queer #lgbtq

That’s not stupid at all, thank you so much for the ask!! It’s sooo interesting to think about! I planned on just posting this drabble, but the more I thought about it, the more I started jotting down headcanons for everyone 👀 Of course there’s the initial disbelief and shock that Milgram can really do what it claims, but once they accept that, they’d have a lot of interesting reactions…

Es gets to watch the video first, then the prisoners are free to watch their own in the privacy of the courtroom/extraction room/wherever. Other prisoners can watch them only with explicit permission from the video’s singer. No one is allowed to watch Undercover except for Es. At first they spend hours looking at those final frames of themself flinching from the camera, hoping to jog any sort of memories, but eventually they give up on it. While actually watching it, they don’t mind the murder silhouettes. While sleeping, however, it has triggered more than one nightmare.

Haruka: He thinks Weakness is very pretty – he’s amazed seeing himself on the screen and hearing his voice, knowing he’s not that good of a singer. Even before his innocent verdict, it gives him a huge surge of confidence. Once he gets to know the others better, he gives them mv permissions, then stares intently at their faces to see their reactions as they watch it. AKAA scares him a bit, seeing his own intense emotions on screen, and he only gives Muu permission to see it. When he’s alone, Haruka pauses the shots of his mother, just to stare for a while.

Yuno: Laughs at the symbolism her mind used in Umbilical. She’s never shied away from sexual words/thoughts, so it's funny the video was as tame as it was. She thinks the song is fun, and isn’t afraid to show the others and sing snippets of it around the prison. Some days it’s too emotional for her to get into it, but most of the time she tries to display a confident attitude about it. After Tear Drop, she’s satisfied with her anger and more overtly sexual images. If anything, she feels too exposed by the shots of herself looking more vulnerable/sad. 

Fuuta: He experiences a solid mix of embarrassment at the gaming theme in Bring it On and feeling a surge of pride that he looks badass in the knight’s armor. He’s worried the warden won’t take him seriously with the video game obsession, but he absolutely loves the song and thinks it portrays his toughness and ideals well. He’s less thrilled with Backdraft, everything about it unsettles and embarasses him. He’s thrown by the shot of crossing out his own silhouette – he’d had self-harming thoughts, but wasn’t quite ready to confront them so blatantly yet. Like Haruka, he can be caught pausing the arcade shot just for a moment before turning the whole thing off and storming away.

Muu: She has mixed emotions towards After Pain. She hates seeing herself look so weak and pathetic, but it gives her a lot of hope that her story will be understood. She misses her friends, and seeing them again is bittersweet. She closes her eyes at the moment of the stabbing – she’s only gotten the courage to watch it through her fingers once. She watches INMF once, then refuses to look at it again from shame/horror. Despite Haruka’s begging, she doesn’t let him watch it, either. 

Shidou: He asks Es what they saw in Throw Down. Upon finding out his family wasn’t in it, he chooses not to watch it. He believes he already knows all about his emotions and crime, so there’s no need to go through that pain again. He’s tempted to watch it when he’s confused about Es’ verdict, but still holds off. He does watch Triage when informed his family is in it. He spends hours in front of the screen by himself. Only after seeing that one does he watch Throw Down, though he’s still left confused about Es’ decisions.

Mahiru: Absolutely loves TIHTBILWY. She thinks it perfectly describes her situation, and that the song is very cute. She lets others watch it, and unlike Yuno, feels like singing it 24/7. It reminds her of her bf, and she thinks that’s very romantic. Similar to Shidou, she spends a lot of time watching I Love You just to look at her boyfriend. She shows it to everyone, just to show him off and talk about him, even if she does skip over the beginning and end each time.

Kazui: He is very similar to Shidou; he refuses to watch his videos until T2, assuming it would be too painful to watch something he already knows and wishes to avoid. Unlike Shidou, seeing Hinako is far too painful, and he regrets watching it and seeing her so happy on their wedding day. Though maybe he’s still waiting, and hasn’t seen any of the videos yet…

Amane: Magic makes her worry more than anything. She fears she’s poisoned by unnecessary vainness since so much of her video involves cute things, colors, outfits, animals, and is set up like a tv show. She’s also worried that Es and the others will really see her as a child because of how cute the whole thing is. She prevents herself from watching it too many times, but buried under all her fears, it gives her a surge of pride seeing herself so talented and pretty and the star of the show. Purge March only reaffirms her confidence in her crime – the video brings up some awful memories, but it shows her as a leader, a warrior, a hero! It brings her comfort and confidence more than anything.

Mikoto/John: The videos are distressing to both of them, and they spend all their time studying the others’ screentime. Mikoto watches in horror as John does things that line up with his spotty memories, and John panics seeing that his actions distress Mikoto more than they’ve reassured/saved him. John does end up watching his own scenes a few times – it feels incredibly good to appear in a way that Mikoto may finally notice him. He feels seen. Now, logically I think that MeMe would be the final tipping point in which Mikoto finally accepts the situation and his DID, but if I must stick to his canon denial, then I’d say he goes on a whole rant about movie magic andt the crazy things you can do with editing nowadays. He doesn’t have a good explanation on how Milgram found his home and knew so much about him, but he explains everything away as cgi or camera effects. Double manages to sway him a bit more, as he hears John speak so plainly to him. Just as the audience had some debate on who was apologizing at the end of Double, Mikoto and John wonder who is apologizing to whom. Though they both come to the conclusion it’s their own apology, they decide that if it was the others’, they’d accept it and forgive them.

Kotoko: She’s very pleased with Harrow, and is unashamed to show it to the others. Though she’d been able to watch a few of the previous prisoners’ videos, it still shakes her a bit when she realizes that Milgram really does have the tech to look deep inside her. She watches it just a few times – not obsessing over it, but not afraid either. Deep Cover, however, is a once-and-done sort of deal. She claims she’s not letting the others watch it because “they couldn’t handle such harsh but true criticisms about themselves,” but she doesn’t end up watching it anymore herself, either.

Hear me out:

Annabeth does not want to do quests for College recommendation letters. Annabeth finds out about the Norse Pantheon from Magnus, some of them even seem to be far chiller than the Greek/Roman’s.

What I’m trying to say is the three of them should plan a Heist centred on breaking into Valhalla just to get Odin to write them a letter.

The epilogue could be Poseidon talking to Percy about who he’s going to ask and Percy’s just “oh some Norse Gods wrote some for us for free xoxo” and Percy and Annabeth get their letters from the Greeks on the basis of “Do Not Tell the Romans about the Norse, Please”

Quick question. What would happen if someone came up on one of dipper's old graves and decided to resurrect him during one of his reincarnations? Would his soul leave the current vessel and get sucked back into the old one, or would his corpse just be filled with a whole lotta nothing?

That's an excellent question!

My first impulse is to say that resurrecting Dipper's old body wouldn't have an effect. Whoever did it would end up with a zombie, or the shell of a body with nothing in it.

My second impulse is: What if Dipper did get sucked out of his current body, and popped right back into his old one? Now you've got one very confused Dipper, and one extremely distressed demon who just saw the love of his life get his soul sucked out, going limp and dead right in front of his eye!

Overall, I guess it depends on exactly what kind of resurrection was pulled off. A body alone type thing will get you no brain or soul to go with it, but if it specifically targeted the soul itself? Then you better have enough oomph behind it to yank it out of someone who's currently alive.

What is Twisted Wonderland and how would you sell someone on it?

Alright, so:

Twisted Wonderland is a Disney mobile game made in Japan and co-produced by Aniplex. (Yes, that Aniplex.) I'm not here to sell you on the game, so much as the story, but it is a sort of story-book rpg with turned based fights and rhythm games, where you build character units from a gacha pull. As far as gameplay goes, it's very simple, and most of the emphasis lies on the characters and the story. And it's wonderful.

The on-the-box description of this game doesn't do it justice, per se, but that might be because Disney has a little bit of influence on it and they suck at knowing who their target audience is. It is about a high school based on classic Disney villains—but no, not in the way you're thinking, because I once made that mistake too. It is not a villain school. Rather, the world of Twisted Wonderland is its own entity, with characters built as sort of nods or foils to classic Disney characters. The world itself is somewhat built with these films as its past, and history has become so twisted (ha) that modern society views some of these classic villains as the heroes or supporting characters of their stories, and respect them as The Great Seven. (The seven in question being the Queen of Hearts, Scar, Ursula, Jafar, the Evil/Raven Queen, Hades, and Maleficent. None of them are remembered by name, though.)

The game takes place in the modern era, a society with both technology and magic. Specifically, it takes place in a magic high school called Night Raven College, an all-boys dormitory prep school where the only requirement to get in is a magic mirror that peers into your soul and determines whether or not you can a) do magic and b) kin the Great Seven. And, of course, the player character is a regular-ass human who gets isekai'd in and gets stuck with a talking magic cat direbeast named Grim.

Now. That is the general synopsis. I, on the other hand, affectionately call this the Mental Breakdown game.

See, here's the kicker. The magic system is pretty nifty; while it's functions as a standard magic-is-magic sort of soft system, it has ✨consequences✨

Magic has this byproduct called blot. It's this icky stuff that builds up when you a) use too much magic and/or b) are emotionally distressed. But less so in a "I'm panicked right now" sort of way and more so in a "I have chronic depression and/or anxiety" sort of way. And, when a mage is powerful enough, and sad boi enough, and then goes and uses way too much magic and sad boi juice in one sitting, this amazing phenomenon occurs called "overblot"—which is pretty much a super-powered evil form that turns the mage into the darkest form of themselves and then uses magic until they die.

Naturally, this happens in the game. A lot. The formula is pretty much that each "book" of the story, there is an overblot. One for each of the seven dorms, which are based off of the seven villains/the movies they come from. (And "based on" is pretty loose. Yes you can see the similarities, but these are dumb teenage boys with their own hopes and aspirations, and, sometimes, the game completely lies to you about what character they emulate the most. The guy who's Jafar? Well yes but he's actually just a really stressed out Genie stand in. The Hades guy? Whoops that's Meg. Is that a card soldier or the White Rabbit? Doesn't matter, he's got problems.)

The characters are so well written. I could gush about them forever, and they are the driving points of this plot and it means everything to me. They are some of the most traumatized and messed up individuals, but also, they are dumb teenage boys who do dumb teenage boys things. It is all incredibly well balanced and startlingly realistic for a game that amounts to beating the emotional constipation around people. Mostly because it cannot be beat out of them. The blot can, but they have to deal with their emotions with their own two hands, with varying levels of success.

And the shenanigans!!!! Oh, the shenanigans. I call this the Emotional Trauma game but I have once laughed so hard someone heard me through the floor. It's not all doom and gloom for sure. Sometimes you're watching your friend fall apart because his toxic mother instilled debilitating perfectionism and slowly start making enemies of everyone and sometimes you're sending three of the most gremlin students plus one cinnamon roll to infiltrate a gala that a bunch of weather fairies are throwing in the greenhouse because they stole your temperature regulating magestone to be shiny jewelry and you want it to stop snowing inside your dorm room. And sometimes you can have the exact same character who experienced losing his little brother right in front of him gush about a magical girl sledding anime and all of his gacha games. It is the best of both worlds.

And, that's not all! No, no. We get amazing character interactions. Not just pre-determined friend group interactions, but also random interactions. Yana Toboso (the writer/artist) really likes to stick names in a jar sometimes and make them interact and it is the best thing ever. Every single one of these characters I hold in my hands. Every single one of them gets to have their moment to shine. You can emotionally invest in all of them and be rewarded for it.

The game itself is free and pretty easy to get into. There's not really a bad power creep so you can get through it with what you got. Of course the fun part of collecting cards is that there are stories attached to them that you can watch, and those are also sources of joy. (And it's well documented, so you can find things online pretty easily to catch up and see more.)

I just think it's neat. (Read: I accidentally became wholly obsessed with this game and its characters and they are all blorbos to me.)

You should definitely fall into this rabbit hole with me :))) It's so worth it :)))

The way that im approaching the "father's love" thing is just that like. Lots of people with abusive parents have a really complicated relationship with them bc, unless they're cartoonishly evil, there are probably SOME positive memories associated with that parent. Since the fall is more of a fresh wound in NB, Lucifer probably hasn't processed his emotions around it so he's still trying to navigate his contradictory feelings towards his father. (Thus, he's a lot easier to manipulate in that way. From Father's pov, it's in his best interest for Lucifer to not hate him since he's in a more powerful position than expected, so I think he set this up while intending from the beginning to "rescue" him.)

Do I think that's what the devs had in mind? No. But it's the story I'm telling myself lmao

Ah, anon, you're right, I keep forgetting how recent the fall is in NB. Lucifer hasn't had a lot of time to deal with how he really feels. And he likely does have some lingering love for Father... and that would make it easier for him to forgive Father now, most likely.

Certainly the devs never have this level of nuance in mind. I don't think the writers put in anywhere near as much thought as we do when it comes to this kind of thing. It could very well just have been oh wouldn't it be cool if Lucifer transformed into an angel at this part? Sometimes they just get on my nerves with their nonsense lol.

Anyway, it does help to think about it in the context of Lucifer's recent move away from his Father. I suspect it's hardest at the beginning, when you haven't been separated from that abuse for very long. Then to have them come around and be like I forgive you? Yeah, okay. I can see why Lucifer might be willing to accept that.

Though I think it's interesting because Lucifer wasn't like okay yeah I'm ready to go back. He's still saying the Devildom is home. So Father didn't succeed if he's expecting Lucifer to come back on his own.

So maybe Father was tapping into those fond memories of Lucifer's, but it still wasn't enough.

I kinda like that, actually. Lucifer's still recovering, he's allowed to be a weirdo about Father's love for a bit, I suppose. Though I don't think I personally would be able to hear him say stuff like that and just let it go. I'd be like listen, I understand that you're going through it right now, but are you sure that's how you should be feeling about all of this?

Lucifer frustrates me because he always seems to be so convinced that his way is the right way. And I want him to consider that perhaps he's wrong, at least about this.

for finish your fics friday I'm putting this under the cut since there are minor spoilers for Chapter 4 of the alpha build of Shepherds of Haven. It's a lot more than five sentences, yet not even everything I wrote yesterday and today! Kyrahlise has crush on Blade in this one, but that won't stop her from doing or saying what she wants.

The slight nod she got in response was more than she was expecting. Unlike the faint frown when Blade glanced at the open window. “The angle of the sun cast a glare on the window, which means I can’t see the colors of the mountains accurately.” Kyrahlise wasn’t going to apologize for opening the window. Not when the chances of the sun being out again were rather slim. At least she’d been able to block in the shapes of the mountains when she was on the roof. So the change in angle wasn’t too much of a hindrance. “It’s well below freezing.” A different glare than before was levied at her. “I’m not going to get frostbite or die because of the window being open. And in case you forgot, I’ve managed to escape either of those fates for the past 16 years. Despite having no one hovering over me to fuss about it.” She thought the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. “You are still quite stubborn.” He’d said much the same when she told him to stop beating himself up about not being with her in the caves. A slow smirk spread across Kyrahlise’s face. “You'll just have to get used to it, Blade, because that won't change."

Set after the main events of Chapter 4, Kyrah is just trying to paint the mountains on the one day the sun finally shows it's face. Of course Blade did his mother hen thing about her sitting on the roof while drawing. She comes down to mollify him, but she isn't going to give up finishing her painting while the light is just right, lol! In my mind it's Chapters 3 and 4 where she starts to get rather confused by his behavior towards her. Between her confusion and how protective Blade gets, she starts to get frustrated with him. This won't be the only time she low-key tells him off for it. I have this headcanon that he actually likes the fact she will stand up to him and disagree with him. (Though I don't know how much of a headcanon it is, because I think there is a lot of textual evidence for it.) To me, he sees it as a sign she isn't afraid of him, and trusts and respects him enough to be honest.

#tbh I kinda love writing Blade and Kyrahlise before they are a couple because I enjoy giving Blade a hard time #and he's just so ridiculous when he's falling in love it makes me laugh #istg Lena purposefully made Blade fun to bully lol #Kyrah is nice but by the time she joins the Shepherds she's gotten pretty good at not letting people push her around #so she has no qualms about standing up to Blade when she thinks he's going too far #finish your fics friday #ask game #shepherds of haven #shoh

34...to pretend.

“Shit,” Alexius whispered under his breath. There was Alfonso again. He was practically stalking him at this point. Alexius could not take another conversation where he had to pretend like he cared about the structural engineering of sewers.

Think, think. Alfonso needed to see that Alexius wasn’t available tonight. Or any night. He needed… a pretend lover.

Alexius searched around the room. He spotted the red head again, aloof and alone as he had been most of the night. Alexius had been eyeing him on-and-off, intrigued by his impeccably tailored clothes and his adorable scowl. He would do perfectly. He was scary enough that Alexius was sure Alfonso wouldn’t come near them, and the most handsome male at this party. It was truly a win-win.

Alexius saw Alfonso spot him from across the room and began to head in his direction. He needed to act fast. He quickly scurried over to the red head. When he stopped in front of him, he lost himself in his amber eyes, noting he was even more handsome up close.

“Can I help you?” the red head sneered.

Alexius took one step closer, “Look, don’t ask any questions. This needs to be quick. Kiss me, like you’re my lover, until the male with bad hair and no chin behind me leaves.”

“Wha…” Alexius didn’t allow him to speak further as he grabbed his jaw and planted a hard kiss on his lips.

He was tense at first, but soon he eased into it. Their lips softened, and Alexius opened his mouth to change the pace of the kiss. He sucked in his bottom lip, adding more sensual enticement to draw a little more passion out of him. The red head, to his delight, responded in kind, pulling him in closer as he kissed him deeper, darting his tongue out to taste him. Oh, he was divine. His scent reminded Alexius of cloves and burning incense. Alexius got lost in the seconds that passed. The male dominated the kiss now, devouring him like he was a surprising treat he didn’t know he wanted until presented before him. Alexius tried not to moan like a hussy, but he found himself fisting the lapels of that finely embroidered jacket, holding on as his knees weakened. Each swipe of his tongue and gentle suction of his mouth was heaven. Gods, when was the last time, if ever, he had been kissed like this?

Soon, they both needed to come up for air. As they panted between their hovering lips, Alexius finally had enough sense to turn his head and look around the room. Alfonso was back with his little group, sheepish and glowering, indicating that Alexius had been successful in his ruse.

“Was that satisfactory enough…” the red head’s deep voice trailed off, a silent question asking Alexius to fill in the space he left.

“Alexius,” he answered, releasing the male’s jacket which he realized he still clutched between his fingers. He didn’t step back, keeping his body close as he threw some flirtation into his expression, staring back into those amber eyes, full of cunning and mischief.

“And you are…?”

“Eris,” the red head replied. “Eris Vanserra.”
