Authors Notes: Hello all, I am not dead, just busy :] Life update, started uni so I've been busy with that, also, bit off more than I could chew so I burned out HARD. Genuinely lost motivation to write. But I do want to get back into the flow of writing. I'll try and fulfill requests(esp the ones sitting in my inbox, sorry to everyone who sent me requests before im not ignoring you i swear 💀) when I can but theres no guarantee. I wanna write what I can and what I want to and atm its Leona :]]. Please enjoy LMAO

Leona couldn't remember the last time he had felt the warmth of another.

Moonlight filters through the open balcony of his room, a gentle breeze causing the curtains to sway slightly. He can feel your hands curled around his waist, his tail wrapped around your leg respectively. He stares at you, watching your chest rise and fall slowly, your soft snores seemingly filling up the room.

Silly Herbivore. He muses, brushing a stray strand of hair out of your face, tucking it behind your ear. You're so vulnerable, nestled against his chest. Wholeheartedly clinging onto him as if you were afraid he'd disappear. As he stares at you, he can't help the slight bitterness that wells up in his throat.

Why did you choose him out of everyone? Out of pity? He's never been good enough. The elders and servants back home made that quite obvious enough. He almost laughs out loud at the thought. He would never be good enough, would never be anyone's first choice, and would never put in enough effort because he was just too damn lazy.

A worthless, selfish, arrogant, too prideful for his own good, lazy, a good-for-nothing second prince who will never amount to anything.

Does he even deserve you?

Your slight movements startle him out of his thoughts as he stares down at you, blinking up at him with bleary eyes.

"Leona?" You mumble, rubbing your eyes. "Can't sleep? That's unusual," you tease him, shooting him a sleepy grin. Unwittingly, Leona feels the edges of his lips quirk up, "I was planning on it, until you started squirming around," he huffed. You study his face, a frown marring your features. Leona pokes your brow where it's creased, chuckling slightly, "Don't do that, your face will get stuck like that." You scowl at him, "I'm not a kid," you grumble, "Besides you have that look on your face and I'm worried about you."

Leona stares at you, an eyebrow raised, "Mind elaborating on what 'that look' means." You sit up so that you're face to face with him. "You know, that look! When you get all broody and emo, and all 'oh my sevens im so angsty grr'. That look." Leona wrinkles his nose at your wording, "Very funny Herbivore." You continue to stare at him, concern causes your brow to crease even more.

"Leona, what's wrong? I can tell something's up with you. I know you don't like opening up, and that's fine, but you know I'm here for you, right?" You reach over, taking his hand in yours and giving it a gentle squeeze. Leona's breath hitches in his throat for a second, he finds himself shutting his eyes for a moment. When he opens them again, he finds your gaze trained on his.

Not looking away from him, holding his gaze unwaveringly. Genuine sincerity in your eyes.

"Leona." His ears twitch at the sound of his name being called. Your voice is firm, to get his attention, but soft enough that he doesn't feel the urge to flinch away. He sighs, feeling that you wouldn't let this matter go easily.

"I know you are. If you want the truth, no I'm not fine." Leona grimaces, this feeling of opening himself up was foreign to him. "I'm far from fine. I'm just.....what did I do to deserve you?" His voice breaks a little at the last part, but he continues. "I'm worthless, selfish, arrogant, too prideful for my own good, lazy, a good-for-nothing second prince who will never amount to anything. Compared to Farena or that damned lizard Malleus, I'm nothing. I have nothing. I will never be anything more because I will always be overshadowed by people like them." He takes a second to collect his thoughts before continuing. "I've always had to work hard to earn my keep only for everything to crumble like sand. All my hard work amounting to nothing because someone just so happens to be lucky enough to just be better." His ears flatten against his head out of irritation.

You listen to his words, staying silent. You give him a moment to catch his breath before hesitantly reaching over, pressing a hand to his cheek. Leona flinches, but then leans into your touch after a brief second. "Hey...look at me," you nudge his face so that he's staring at you.

"Look, I will admit you can be selfish, hell sometimes kind of a dick. You irritate me and sometimes I want to strangle you cause you won't let me get to class on time because you won't get off me." You pause, before continuing, "But you are not worthless. And you're not a good-for-nothing second prince. I love you, faults and all. You, Leona Kingscholar, are the best damn thing that has ever happened to me okay? I would go to hell and back for your stinky ass." Leona laughs softly at your nickname for him, leaning more into your hand. "You are worthy. I didn't choose to love you because I felt pity for you, I love you because of who you are. You say that all your hard work crumbles to sand? I've seen you pick yourself back up again. You're passionate about what you're interested in, and even if you won't outwardly say it, I know you care. You're not a saint by any means, far from it. But that's what I love about you. You're flawed and imperfect, and I say that's better than some perfect curated image of who you're supposed to be." You poke his chest to emphasize your point.

"So don't you ever question why I love you okay?" Your thumb brushes over the scar over his left eye, pressing a soft kiss to his eyelid. His eyelashes tickle your face as you do so. "I love you, scars and all. And I'll say it as many times as I need to."

Leona stares at you, a mix of emotions in his gaze. He clears his throat, his tail tugging you closer to him. "Fuck...that was hot," he smirks, leaning in, his nose brushing against yours. "Seriously? I give you this long speech and thats what you have to say?" You roll your eyes playfully, smacking his shoulder lightly. Leona's laughter rumbles in his throat as a hand gently holds onto the back of your neck, pulling you in for a kiss. Despite his rough exterior, his kisses are gentle, his lips molding against yours. His other hand finds its way to your waist, holding you in place as you straddle his hips.

The two of you part for air, small gasps can be heard between you. You wrap your arms around his neck as you settle next to him, head nestled in his neck. Leona adjusts his position into a more comfortable one, his chin resting against the top of your head. The two of you lay in silence, the only audible sound being the occasional breeze that ruffles the curtains. Slowly you find yourself falling into the embrace of sleep.

"Herbivore?" You hear his voice above you. "Mhmm?" you mumble sleepily, feeling your eyes drooping.

"....I love you." You smile, hearing his words, before drifting off.

Ensuring that you're asleep, Leona leans over, kissing your forehead, watching your sleeping face. "....Thank you for being in my life.....and for not giving up on me," he whispers, before settling against you and drifting off himself.

Some thoughts on Ex Astris

Okay so the TL;DR is: Go play it if you're someone who is mainly motivated by gameplay, it's one of the most enjoyable games i've played in like 10 years (im not kidding). the story is not bad, but it's very poorly told and leaves a lot to be desired. I should also warn that i'll probably spoil a couple of things, mainly on the gameplay side (because yes, I do believe some encounters are better if you dont know the gimmick).

Where do I even start, I only watched like 2 trailers before playting, i had 0 idea of what i was getting into, all i really knew about the game was that it was a full game release by the AK guys and that it was a turn based rpg. I legitimately bought it out of morbid curiosity, I was not expecting to find my favorite jrpg in a literal decade.

I'll go over what I liked the most and then explain the couple of issues I have with the game, it might sound like i loved it (which i did) but it's far from perfect and i think there's room for improvement. I think the combat is the real deal in this title, for those unfamiliar with it: it's a classic turn based jrpg but it has layers. The main 3 mechanics that make it stand out from other games is that each turn you have AP (action points) which limit what you can do each turn, however you can directly manipulate them with a combo system that gives you back AP. The second one is a parry system, during the enemy turn you can directly parry their attacks, you have 2 colors for parrying, both colors have different properties and there's certain attacks that can only be parried with the respective color. And lastly, theres a stagger bar, similar to FFXIII or posture bar in sekiro, although i think it's more akin to stagger in FFXIII. Once you break said bar you can enter hyper time for a few seconds where you have unlimited AP so you can combo them for massive damage. The combo system is very enjoyable, you will be blindly experimenting your combos for optimal damage each time you unlock new moves in the skill trees. Theres a very satisfying feeling to landing a big combo on an enemy that feels like it was entirely something you came up with. This sadly comes with a downside, once you figure out your big damage combos, there's not much of a reason to try anything different. It doesnt mean it stops being enjoyable but this is a wall most of games with combo systems have. Now the parry system, while it's fun, it sadly makes the game too easy. Sure theres enemies that will mix their timings to throw you off and a couple of unparriable attacks. But really, if you get good there's no reason to ever get hit. "But what about the unblockables?" yeah about that... Theres really just 3 enemies in the game that had them, and 2 of them were bosses, which you get a hard counter to the unblockable in the first boss that has it. I wish the game had more ways to work around you to make it more challenging. The only time the game REALLY tries to fuck you up is the final boss (this is a good thing) however it was still too easy. She really just makes the screen black and white and makes you parry based on the icon, then she makes you parry based on the color of the attack. This was sick and i wish there were more moments like this in the game. Now the dungeons were great, they feel like they belong in an older 3d zelda game. Sadly they dont get too crazy on the gimmicks, they were just box puzzles where you have to move them in the correct spots or point lasers to certain switches. Apparently this game has plans for DLCs so if theres something i wish upon to get explored more it would be this in particular. The rest of the game is the towns and the sidequests inside them, they're very usual stuff for a jrpg so you know what to expect, i cant elaborate much on it. Overall I think the game is meant to be replayed, by the end you're only able to fully build 3 characters out of 5 party members, sidequests expire and there's a bunch of stuff to mess around to make a playthrough different from the last one. The game changes a lot when you already know how it works or what really happens in the story.

Now the elephant in the room, the story: Yeah it's kinda just there, it's very poorly told. However it's HG and i can tell there was a lot of thought put into the wold building, it's very well made. It's just a shame that i could barely care about anything happening in it, even though I was kinda invested by the final hours i dont think that excuses the really bad storytelling. However starting my second playthrough is when I noticed it was indeed meant to be replayed. There's a bunch of stuff that feels so incredibly cryptic or really make no sense, once you go over it already having context it all makes sense and you just go like "oooh so that was they were talking about". I'm not excusing bad writing though, this is bad, but at least the story feels better on a second playthrough. Anyways, i'm kinda upset this was a mobile game, maybe if it wasnt, 10 people would've played it instead of just 5. I cant stress enough how this is a phone game that is way better than most of modern jrpgs in the market. it's like the devs went back and asked themselves what was the main appeal of the genre and what they thought made them fun to them and made an entire game around it. This is probably gonna be the biggest surprise of the entire year for me and i'm gonna have brainrot about this game for a while.

Wanted to ask, but why did you say Penny coming back would've been bad writing in your essay? Since you never really elaborated on that.

Pennys entire arc is about becoming more then a robot, and more importantly, her seeing herself as a person with thoughts, feelings, and the ability to make decisions instead of being a machine. The arc was wrapped up by her becoming a human, becoming a real girl. She's no longer steel and wires, she's a human, and while she's always been a human on the inside to her it mattered that she was human on the outside. That and yknow, being human kinda saved her life lol.

The purpose behind Pennys first death was to teach Ruby a lesson. Ruby was never naive to the danger of the grimm, she was never naive to the fact the world was filled with monsters. But she was naive to the dangers of what people and humans could do. And Pennys death (and the fall of beacon in general) taught her that. That people will kill other people for their own gain, that there are more monsters out there then just the grimm. This was Rubys first time facing death head on (at least as far as we know), sure, she lost her mother but with Penny she was there. And she watched it all happen, she saw Penny in pieces laying on the floor.

Penny's return in v7 also took place 4 entire volumes after her first death. That gave the characters more then enough time to process it and the plot time to progress to a point where Pennys reintroduction to the series felt smooth and natural. it also gave the audience time to process things, again, it felt natural and not too soon. They built it up so she came back at the right time.

And Pennys second death? Theres several different reasons she died so I'm just gonna breeze past them. For one, to be a very significant thing for both Ruby and Jaunes characters. It sounds like I'm saying Pennys only purpose was for Rubys arc which I'm not I promise, she had major story relevance, and she played a big role in the plot during the atlas arc. And the best way for her to keep doing so was to well...die.

Think about it. Sure, Penny could've just ran and she would've been fine, but her dying and passing on the maiden powers progresses things further then her just being around. But enough about that.

People were extremely deadset on Penny coming back in v9 specifically, which is wayyyyyyyyyy too soon. As I said before, they took 4 whole volumes before bringing her back. Bringing her back the next volume after she died again? Extremely poor writing decision. Hell, the characters haven't even fully processed it yet! And neither have we as an audience, the characters (and us) are still grieving, if they were to bring her back again it'd be stupid to bring her back one volume after she died.

But even if they were to give it that time...theres more then just plot and such that would mean her coming back is silly. For one, it was specifically stated that new Penny was built using some of old Pennys parts. This time around, theres nothing to salvage. It'd be entirely new parts, an entirely new Penny, and we can't guarantee it'd be the same Penny with all her memories. So if you were banking on her coming back to make nnd canon, sorry, theres a chance she wouldn't even know who Ruby was.

Theres also the fact she told Winter "I'll be part of you!" and Pietro said he couldn't give up any more aura. So, even with the whole parts thing, Winter might have to sacrifice a good deal of her own aura if they wanted their Penny back. Which I mean could work, but I really don't see them doing that. But even theres still a slim chance it wouldn't work.

Penny is dead. She is gone, and theres not many ways the writers could bring her back again without it being clunky or weird. The least clunky way is maybe some kinda epilogue, but I just don't see her ever coming back.

Penny is gone, and we all have to accept that just cause she came back once doesn't mean she'll do it again.

But I've found personally trying to keep a deadline has a negative effect on my writing, so what I've instead been doing is making myself write two chapters worth before i post one, or I at least have to have most of the second chapter outlined. So chapter 3 was posted after I figured out exactly how I want chapter 4 to go and got like. 1k into it. so chapter 4 will be posted when I get either all of 5 written or most of it outlined! Depends on the content of the chapter ngl

Since chapter 4 is gonna be like. all fucking porn I know theres nothjng I'll have to retcon/rearrange in 3 lmao

Bear with my unconscious rambling for a second here but i think i finally realise what "call me by your name i'll call you by mine" actually like means??? Cuz like for a long while, ever since watching the movie i had no idea what that phrase means but like! now! i get it!!!

So apparently in the original screenplay theres like a narrator that says "They have become each other that summer" and I think that that's such a perfect way to describe their relationship like????? How did I not realise that any sooner???? Elio and Oliver's relationship is built on their intimate connection with each other, their ability to understand each other on an entirely different level just within the short time of knowing each other and to form such a raw and naked bond with each other, to the point of soulmates, and something a little more than that. "Call my by your name and I'll call you by name" is suppose to signify that connection that they have and like represent how well they know each other to the point where it doesn't just feel like 2 ppl in love, but more like 2 ppl who are so wholly involved in another that they stop being 2 separate entities and more like two halves being completed!!! and so that's how that quote is supposed to go!!! it has been A While since i've read/watched cmbyn i May misremember some things + i did not understand them even while consuming the media however you do partially make sense. if i remember correctly i think there's something about how oliver was basically one of the only people who listened to elio and respected his input and understands him etc etc.

something i do not get tho is that they're vastly different people and sure, they have a very intimate relationship they know each other theyre wholly infatuated with each other but in the end they're just two separate lovesick fools. what you said about them being two halves of a whole- okay. okay they're elio-and-oliver, hyphenated, together, but to me the whole 'call me by your name and i'll call you by mine' makes the separation so clear. there's 'me', and then 'you'. i don't understand what the significance is!!! </3

anws, there's saying in Japan where people have three faces:

The first face is the face you show to the public

The second face is the face you show to friends and family

The third face is the face you never show anyone, your TRUE self

the dreamworld represents people's TRUE self, for Miku, it would have to be that despite her happy exterior, she's actually really lonely (even tho she does have friends with her, she still feels lonely ykno ykno that feeling ykno)

in Elly's dreamland, there's nothing in there, only the sky, grass, and butterflies fluttering around, making her the only resident in her own dreamworld

until suddenly, w0w there's this white rabbit that just appeared out of thin air

and obviously, someone like her who hasn't seen any other living things other than butterflies would follow after it, i mean...there wasn't any rabbits in her dreamworld lel

and the usual alice in wonderland shtick, rabbit fell down hole, she fell down hole

and this white rabbit's name is Tokki

Tokki has the power to teleport from dreamworld to dreamworld because of his pocket watch

now what was he doing in Elly's world?

...that's a good question, I'll think about it

anyways welcome to wonderland, can't say much cuz it's kinda spoilery, you'll have to learn more abt wonderland later when i think abt making a story or more doodles and arts of my ocs heuheuhuehuehuhe

one thing is for sure tho; people residing in wonderland has powers unlike people above in the dreamland (wonderland and dreamland are the same thing btw cuz they're both still dreamworlds)

theres no explanations, its just their theme and it helps differentiate real world chars from their dreamworld self,,,, probably,,,,

anws i forgot to introduce another important char to Elly

this is Red, his theme is Little Red Riding Hood and he has a little sister named Viola who is quite sick

their dreamworld resides in a tiny little cottage near a snowy forest, rumors says there's a big bad wolf there and is the cause of Viola's illness so Red has been trying to hunt it down to cure Viola for who knows how long

when Elly fell down the rabbit hole, she was transported to Red's dreamworld and they met when Red was sleeping near the forest

but it was like....uhhh....a spot he likes to snooze in when taking breaks from trying to find the wolf, since the forest is always snowing but this spot is filled with greenery instead ykno ykno

anws thats enough of their dreamworld counterparts for now, back to the real world

how they met is rather different in the real world lel

it started with miku's dreamworld self elly wandering in a pitch black area and then suddenly red before she woke up, miku's dreams were always weird so she's like "eh no biggy" and then typical anime when she's going to school "kyaa i bumped into someone- oh my god it's the dude from my dreams"

it was basically love at first sight for her, bonus is he's a blondie too BAHAHHAHAHAH (miku's a romanticist i forgor to put that out)

sell blue lock in 10 words or less 👀

/jk please elaborate, i've been debating whether to watch it or not

I'm bad in explaining and convincing but i'll try without spoiling anything.

So, 'Blue Lock' is a project to create world's greatest striker who will lead JPN to victory. 300 high school strikers are invited to join and they have to go through selections, challenges and eliminations until one emerge victorious.

With that being said, if you're used to watch sports anime where teamwork is more important, well.. you'll be surprise how it works in blue lock. It's because in blue lock, the players' would play according to their own ego which will create problems for their own team. Each players are hungry to score their own goals & would even steal the ball from their own teammates. To me, it was quite refreshing.

Each characters has unique ego that could make you like them or not. And, there will be characters you'll hate to love. I hope it's not just me but I have love/hate relationship with some characters. Oh, and theres betrayal too :)

As for the matches, most of them are so cool and amazing that you can't help but just immerse in it! And like all anime/manga, you'll get to see some of the characters' backstory.

From my own experience, I wasn't sure if I'll continue after the first selection but I'm glad I did because the real excitement begins from second selection onwards.

I think that's it from me and I think it's more fun reading the manga than watching the anime, but it's definitely up to you!

Hello! For the fandom ask game, Star Wars seems too vast, so. The Kenobi show?

First of all I'm going to start by saying this is my second time typing this up and I'm going to cry if it gets deleted again. Second- Thank you friend I love you, I love this ask, bless you for narrowing it down to the Kenobi show. I can pick my top two characters easy, but my top three is hard to decide on and it would have made me have a small crisis. But anways lets see if I can do this and not have it get deleted this time! 5 favourite characters

Obi-Wan: I don't think anyone is surprised by this, so I'm not going to elaborate.

Reva: I meant it when I said, I don't trust you if you think she should have died. I mean it. I love where she's going. I was so fucking terrified they were going to kill her. After what I had to endure during Book of Boba Fett, I DID NOT TRUST ANYONE do her justice. Now I have SOME trust but I only trust Ms. Debra with Reva. No one else touch her. Reva has the potential to have one of the greatest character arcs in Star wars and I'll be damned if anyone takes that from her. Like I could finally have another character outside of Zuko to be like "this is how you write a good redemption arc." I have hope for that, but that means we need more Reva, and half the star wars fans don't deserve her. The only reason Obi-Wan keeps his top slot is because I've known him longer, but I've been dying for a story like Reva's since I jumped back into star wars.

Tala: No one fucking touch me, I cried like a baby when she died. I knew it was coming, because unfortunately someone always dies for development, I'm just glad she sorta took it into her own hands, instead of like another "I just died in your arms tonight" moment. I was reminded of Rogue One and it made me UNWELL. I miss her. I wanted more of her character.

Leia: And this is purely because former roommate texted me after she saw the first episode and said that little Leia reminded her of me- and I wasn't entirely sure how to process that. I have since rewatched A New Hope and Empire Strikes back and have been UNWELL in realizing how much of her attitude I just straight up absorbed, mostly in the form of sassy remarks instead of being emotionally vulnerable. I'm sure theres more to it, but no one talks about themselves accurately and this is supposed to be about Leia not me. But anyways I don't trust anyone who says they don't like Leia- just say you don't like kids or little girls with loud opinions. I still won't trust you, but at least you'll finally be honest.

I feel like its lame of me to include Vader on this list, but like- heres the thing. Listen listen....I paused E3 the moment he started the fire. I paused it and I fucking laughed at this petty man's fuckery. I laughed because my thought was, "Anakin you petty bitch, you're going to TRY to burn this man like you did on mustafar oh my god you petty son of a bitch" and once I recovered from sheer amount of petty fuckery I hit play. It was instantaneous. It was 4 am and I nearly screamed and woke up the house because I didn't think it was going to THAT far and they did. I fucking started crying. No other character has made go from laughing to sobbing that fucking fast. Also the part with the ship, and I didn't like that he moved quickly it freaked me out. So yeah, this was the first time I think I really processed Vader and I'm a little fucked up.

I'm gonna be real honest, I was glad that there wasn't any mention of his past romantic relationships. Like yes, I have written a character that is in a relationship with Obi-Wan, but even then I wrestle with the fact of do I want them to actually be romantic or do I want it to be plantonic and more like a qpr. My point for this is that I feel like Obi-Wan's story hits the hardest without any kind of romantic interest, and I'm glad it wasn't even a factor in this show. I have a lot of thoughts on his relationship with Satine, but thats another post I may or may not get to. This is a long way of saying that it took me a long time to think of any kind of relationships because I forget things and am actually a dumbass.

BailXBreha: I fucking love them I miss them every day. I want S2 only for them to come back. They had minimal screen time, but I would die for fics about them raising Leia. I adore them.

OwenXBeru: Like I said I went to rewatch A New Hope and I am 100% convinced that they took out at least a squad of troopers before we see Luke go home. I miss them too. I can't believe I lose them in the same movie I lose the Organas and I'm not okay with that.

Obi-WanXSleep: If you know anything about me you'll know this is my number one ship. Its very important to me I hold it dearly, and evidently so does Leia.

Funniest character:

Is it bad if I say its a tie between Vader, Haja, and Leia- I feel like it is. I'm gonna go with Haja, because I love him too. He won me at "You remembered my name" and the little smile he gave. Man I'd be in the exact same boat if he called me by name. Haja is a stronger man than I am though because I would have just puddled on the floor and been absolutely useless.

Prettiest character

You know this question is harder than I thought-

I was going to say Obi-Wan, because every time I see a gif come across my dash, I just sorta sigh and think "He's so pretty" and thinking about how I'm supposed to meet Ewan in August set my heart racing and so I feel like I should say Obi-Wan is the prettiest

BUT TALA AND REVA ARE RIGHT THERE AND THEY ARE GORGEOUS.

You know what this one goes to Reva. I love her so damn much okay. Her story, her, she's amazing and I love her for all the reasons why I've listed in the character piece.

Part of a Team

Summary: Wanda is the newest Avengers recruit and she’s having a hard time finding her place in this new life- maybe she can find it in you?

Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x y/n, you

Warnings: Brief mention of death and blood, minor language (if you squint theres kind of compromising situations? nothing outright sexual)

Something was wrong. You were just in Strucker’s lab- just on the trail of one of the enhanced twins. The alarms were going off around you and your boots clanged on the metal floor- before you froze in your place, a red haze overtaking you and suddenly you were thrown into the daylight.

You felt tingles run through your veins and down your spine; your head throbbed. You felt vulnerable, seen. What the hell is going on-

You’re in the forest, you think. No- there are rocks. Big rocks-

Focus.

No, not rocks. Graves. Gravestones. Where the hell are you?

You drag your heavy feet over to the nearest, it takes a moment for your vision to focus.

Who’s grave? Who’s grave? Oh god. No no no- this, this can’t be-

Natasha Romanoff.

You felt like throwing up. This couldn’t be real. You dragged yourself to another stone situated nearby: Clint Barton. Beloved husband, father, and friend.

It felt like you couldn't breathe, you were just there with them. You were just there.

Your body jerks as cold hands grab your shoulders and spin your body to face them-

Steve.

You throw your arms around his neck, “STEVE! Oh god Steve! You’re okay- you’re.. cold” you feel something wet and sticky on your hand, pulling it back and seeing red. So much red.

“Steve..” you quickly stumble back, tripping in the process. It’s then you see- it’s too late. His body was grey and lifeless. He falls onto his knees and then collapses totally. You scream and scramble backwards, head hitting another gravestone in the process.

You turn to face it, to read another name of one of the team members you’ve come to call family- but it's not one of theirs. It’s yours.

It’s your name. A graveyard for the Avengers, Earth’s mightiest heroes.

Suddenly your body jolts and you take a sharp intake of breath- your ears are pounding. Everything hurts. But you see her- the enhanced. She’s looking at you with a look you can’t describe. It’s not fear, it’s not anger.. Pity? Empathy? You can’t look away from her, the glowing red eyes capturing you as their prey.

And then there was black.

A few weeks later and you’re back at the tower. Things have changed- the entire world has changed, really. The battle opened up new doors- literal new doors to new realms- that the world had previously thought impossible.

The team had expanded, with Steve’s friend Sam joining the team, as well as Vision, the synthezoid that helped the team to defeat Ultron.

There was also her.

Wanda Maximoff was one of the enhanced twins from Strucker’s experiments, you eventually learned. It was voluntary, but after learning about her backstory you think you would have done the same in her place.

She lost her brother- Pietro- in the battle and she took it hard. She didn’t come out of her room when she could help it. Clint was rather protective over her, maybe it was the fatherly figure coming out of him- maybe he was feeling guilt over being the one Pietro sacrificed himself to save. Either way, he was able to get her out of the room a few times and get her to eat. Vision also struck up a strange friendship with the girl- but then again, Vision was easy company, and rather empathetic for a synthezoid.

Everybody took a hit from when Wanda messed with their heads, some more than others.

You didn’t talk for a week.

Didn’t even talk with Clint’s kids when they wanted to play with you.

You didn’t hold it against her. She proved what a valuable asset she was to the team as she fought alongside the group. She did what she thought was right at the time, and that’s not something you could hold against anybody.

Ever since the Battle, Wanda has been staying in the Avengers facilities with the rest of the group, an official Avenger, but you could tell she was still uneasy around the team. She only talked when she was directly talked to and didn't come out of her room but for a few times a day for food and training, sometimes not even then.

And then there was you.

She seemed to avoid you like the plague. You weren’t even sure you two made eye contact for the entire first few weeks she was there.

At first you thought she just didn’t like you, that something about you rubbed her the wrong way, or something you had done had offended her.

But it was her eyes that gave it away- the same soft look that she gave you right after exploring the deepest and darkest parts of your mind that day at Strucker’s lab. She knew from the second it happened that she had hit a deep nerve, and she would continue to give you that damn look every time she thought you didn't notice her.

But you always did.

You couldn’t help it, the way you were drawn to her. She reminded you so much of yourself before joining the team, broken, and alone in your head. You wanted to know her. You wanted to be there for her, be someone to her, you didn’t want her to keep walking on eggshells around you.

And so, you told her.

You found her in the kitchen late one night. She was wearing flannel pajama bottoms and a garnet tank top with a plain gray robe overtop. Her hair was a mess, roughly shoved into a ponytail and her hands were cupped around a mug. She was blowing on what looked to be dandelion tea, and as you got closer the fragrant earthy smell confirmed your suspicions.

She looked adorable.

And slightly startled to find you alone with her.

“Evening” you said as a greeting as you made your way to the counter top.

She gave a tight-lipped half smile with a timid “Hi” before going back to blowing on her tea. She made a slight movement that looked like she was going to try to slip away before you continued,

“You did really well in training the other day. Cap can’t give you enough praise” you say, taking a seat on one of the counter barstools.

She looks puzzled for a moment over your attempt at small talk before getting out a “Thank you.”

You both stood there in silence for a moment, just looking at each other, feeling the air grow thicker with each second ticking by.

“I like the pajamas” you say with a small smirk. You yourself were still dressed for the day in your leather jacket and black jeans. You could have sworn you saw flush creep up her neck before she swallowed it down with a sip of her tea.

There was another silent moment as she gave you a quizzical look, “I don’t quite understand what’s happening here.” She says with a vague hand gesture to the space between them.

You gave a slight chuckle, it was very on-brand for Wanda to be straight to the point.

“Look, Wanda,” You rotated your body on the stool to face her more comfortably,

“I see the way you look at me when you think i’m not looking. You avoid me at any given opportunity, I actually think this has been the most words we’ve exchanged in your whole time living here.”

She raised her ducked head to look you in the eyes and gave a small shake to her head, “I don’t understand.”

You don’t break eye contact, but simply offer a small smile as you reply “I’m not afraid of you, Wanda. And I don’t hold anything from that day against you. All is forgiven, and I would like to move past that. I understand you believed everything you were doing was for the right reasons, and the only thing that it shows me is your dedication and loyalty to a greater cause. Even if it was the wrong one at the time.”

She looked shocked, to say the least. Her mouth slightly opening and closing as she pondered what to say in response.

“You all should be afraid of me. You see the chaos I’ve created and you think you know what I can do,” her voice caught before she continued, “But the truth is I don't even know what i'm capable of. I don’t belong here.” she says softly.

You give a sad smile before slipping off of the stool and moving closer to her.

“We all thought that, at one point or another. We’ve got a whole freak circus here, we’ve got more baggage than Delta flies in a year- that's, that's uh, an airline. My bad.” You elaborate after she gives you a puzzled look, holding back a smile at your stuttered explanation.

“Aaand I ruined the moment.” You give a small chuckle, before continuing “But my point still stands. Nobody belongs here more or less than anyone else. We’re all just here, that's the truth of the matter. We’re just a bunch of unlucky misfits trying to figure out how to work as a team. Just give it a try, and maybe you’ll find you fit in better than you imagined you would.”

At some point during your speech you had moved close enough to take her hand, and you look down at it now, blushing before going to move it away.

Before you could, she gives your hand a squeeze before moving in to place a gentle kiss against your cheek.

“Thank you, y/n.”

And with that she slips away to her room, leaving you alone with your racing heart and her lukewarm mug of tea.

The next morning you found yourself awake bright and early for another morning training session with Nat and Steve- but you had a guest this time.

“Wanda” you greeted, which she returned with a timid “Good morning.”

“I’m glad you could make it” you say, sincerely.

“I decided to take your advice.” She replies with the smallest smile pulling at her lips.

The two of you stood there for a moment, just taking each other in before Steve cleared his throat, “Alright, we should get started then. Wanda, I'll spar with you to start. Nat, you take y/n. Try not to kill each other, please.” He said with a humored smile.

You make your way towards the corner with Nat on your heels. She gives you a quizzical look with a raised brow, glancing between you and Wanda. You roll your eyes and shake your head, only responding with a pointed “Later,” before your legs sweep under hers and an arm wraps around her torso, flipping you both to the ground and landing with you on top of her.

“Using my own move against me, that’s a low blow y/n.” You both laugh, and you barely respond with a “I learned from the best” before she wraps a leg around your waist and grabs your wrists with one hand, flipping you over and pinning you to the ground. She winks and replies “Damn right you did.”

It went like that for another half an hour, the two of you going back and forth battling for the upper hand. Natasha was the one who had trained you since the beginning, and you could almost say you were near her equal now. Well, you could at least give her a run for her money in a spar.

The two of you were panting and glistening with sweat, cheeks flushed from the exercise when she gave you a mischievous wink and called out to the other two, “Hey grandpa, I think I’m done getting my ass kicked by y/n for the day. I want someone easy, come spar with me”

If looks could kill, the look you were giving her would have the assassin dead on the floor.

Steve only looked amused, grabbing a towel to wipe his own sweat as he responded “Bring it on, Romanoff. Try not to break anything, though. I’ve been told they want my bones for the Smithsonian” Nat rolled her eyes and gave a pointedly fake laugh before they made their way to the other side of the gym, leaving you and Wanda alone.

“Hi” you greeted. She responded with a small smile and a “Hi” in return.

She looked as though she were still catching her breath, the rise and fall of her chest was noticeably fast and her face was still adorned with a glisten of sweat and pretty pink flush.

The same flush you saw from her last night, standing in the kitchen with the dim light around her.

Oh God you were in deep now.

“Nat and I were just wrestling around, hand to hand combat kind of stuff, but I see you and Steve were boxing so it's up to you what you’d like to do.” you say quickly.

“Well.. I do have this,” She waves her hand to show her flicker of red powers “for missions, so I don’t think I really need that kind of training.” She says with a smirk, “But I admit, you seem like a good teacher. Maybe.. some basics?”

She was pushing it. Pushing at this, the same way you were pushing last night. Alright, maybe you could run with this.

You give her a teasing smile, “Alright then. We’ll start slowly. May I?” You ask, reaching out for her, but not quite touching.

“By all means” she says, and you can feel the familiar flush creeping up your neck again. You release a puff of breath and shake yourself out of your thoughts before stepping closer to Wanda, and in one fluid motion you had one leg behind hers, your left arm resting against her upper chest and your other at the small of her back, pushing her flush against yourself.

You could hear the small gasp she let out, smirking to yourself.

“This is a simple take down, easy to get out of, but good for beginning. Now i'm just gonna pull you down as slowly as I can-”

You bring her left leg out from under her and carefully let the two of you sink to the floor, leaving you straddled on top of her and pinning her arms to the ground. The air suddenly felt a lot warmer.

You meet her eyes, breath hitching as you feel her pulse quicken beneath your touch.

You clear your throat and begin again, “Like I said before, it’s easy to get out of, but you want to keep the element of surprise. Use your opponent's body weight against them, if you can twist your wrist to slip it out of their grip and use your hips to to flip-”

Before you could even finish she had you pinned beneath her, wind knocked out of you from the impact.

“Like that?” she said, looking down at you through hooded eyes, thick accent teasing- flirting?

You were suddenly very aware of your close proximity and compromising position- flush against each other with her hips straddling your waist; close enough to feel her rapid heartbeat.

“Yeah- that was- that was good” you sputtered out, barely able to hear yourself over the rapid beating of your own heart. Or maybe it was hers- you aren't sure you could tell the difference between up and down right now.

She gave a proud smirk and opened her mouth to say something before a certain synthezoid floated through the gym walls, clueless to the moment he was interrupting.

“Mr. Stark requests a team meeting and would like you to meet him in the conference room.” He said simply before turning and leaving through the wall again.

Wanda gave you a look that seemed to say we’ll finish this later and moved off of you. You missed the heat of her body immediately.

She offered you a hand up and you gladly took it, the two of you walking side by side in silence to the meeting, shoulders bumping and small smiles shared between you two as you think to yourself that maybe you could get used to this.

Nah bro not certain people giving Turning Red a bad review because of how it talked about periods/puberty explicitly (even though without it being said outright it would’ve been implied anyway, which I'll explain in a second), that the humor was cringey, or how there were "stereotypes" (like they dont even specify what steroetypes they saw in the movie I swear they just say "theres stereotypes" but don't elaborate).

Like WOW who wouldve thought that a film set in the 2000s would include DATED humor from that era? Like those reviewers haven’t had cringy moments/humor in their adolescent life. You at least get one as a treat (I swear they sound like those 9th graders that say the 8th graders are immature even though they were just an 8th grader under 3 months ago). Or who would've thought that a film called TURNING RED would openly discuss periods, as if millions of girls/women around the world do not experience their underwear "turning red" every month for one week from the ages 10 (the earliest) to 50s (the lastest). Or, oh, how the so-called stereotypes (seriously the reviewers don't specify what stereotypes. Like do they mean Racial? Gender? What kids do at the ages of 13??? I literally dont know) that are in the movie, when an ASIAN WOMAN directed this, so I'd imagine that it be really hard for her to include any stereotypes, or have any stereotypes be allowed in this movie that tried to make it's way into productions. She obviously incorporated her experiences growing up, as well as others who had helped work on this! Like, Domee Shi was 13 years old in 2002, the same age and year that Mei is in the movie, like, HELLO?!

I should note that I am not of Asian descent however. I’m Mexican and a AFAB, so I'm really only qualified for the period talk. If anyone who is Asian could tell me if there are any stereotypes in this movie, big or small, please let me know. Or if certain cultural aspects were represented either accurate/somewhat accurate/not accurate. I'd like to learn and educate myself on these topics.

These negative reviews that arent based on any proper criticism ARE few and far between, at least from what I saw so far. Hopefully it stays that way. They could be baiting people like me who knows. It’s just irritating to see. Just go watch the movie instead and decide for yourself if this movie is good or not to you. Me personally, I love it. I'm glad that Pixar is making these types of films. Hopefully, after certain recent events that happen with Disney (which is a whole can of worms that still angers me but I dont wanna put that in this post), Disney will allow for more movies like this, as well as the discussion/representation for other topics. *CoughCough DisneySayGay CoughCough*

Anyway if anyone who worked on Turning Red/personally knows people who worked on it, is somehow reading this. Please know that this movie means a lot to people in many ways. Keep up that good work.

i barely have a singular ship the entire ship is well. a ship. theyre all dating each other the entire ship is polyamorous. my fave dynamics so far tho r; bones & spock obviously they r so funny. scotty & kirk i dont think any other combo on the enterprise is more enabling of each others specific brand of bullshit. uhura & everyone she is their BABYGIRL she is the most important person on that ship n everyone loves her as they should. the second favourite babygirl after the enterprise itself. scotty is the third fave btww. pavel & chekov they are like. daforge before there was daforge n kirk n that one klingon captain in the tribbles ep. why were they like that.

kirk wasnt that feminist like yes for the time but he still very much so was a man written in the 60s by other men and idk i feel like painting him as 100% feminist w/ that one "a crewman" gif is disingenious. like definitely what abrhams did was a crime to make him even weirded! but idk people always want to focus on the best and its like grabbing so many women by the shoulders like that so often makes me very uncomfortable watching dhdfhfvhvf

k so I binged the series and my tldr thoughts are that I would have enjoyed the series more if it were better written.

It's way to short to carry all the emotional beats it tries to put in and the relationship dynamics between Geralt and Yennefer falls completely flat and they are among the most forced ship dynamics Ive ever seen in any show. Theres zero indication why Geralt is suddenly so obsessed with her or why she is so into him.

I don't ship them but jaskier and Geralt have an unambiguously better build up and dynamic even though it was also very rushed and could have used more development given how close they seem. Other than that I love Ciri and Yennefer and I wish they had more screen time.

Ciri in particular isn't given enough development given how essential she is to the overarching plot and political struggle. I kinda wish that instead of the back and forth time skips which just leave me confused and not knowing what's happening they just wrote a linear narrative with flashbacks. given that Geralt actually doesn't do much in most of the series besides B plot monster hunting quests I think his character would have been enriched by sticking to a linear narrative instead of the back and forth.

If I (a person who has never written anything elaborate in my life) were to have written the show I would have filmed one season separated into 3 parts, one following Ciri, one following Yennefer and one following Geralt that you can watch side by side or after the other and they all end end with Ciri and Geralt meeting and Yennefer mysterious fate.

within the series there would be connections and Easter eggs that you can put together once you watch the other series. it wouldn't have only helped build the overarching plot as well as the character and relationship development and felt more like a video game adaption.

Apparently the series also cost 10 mill per episode which I assume must have gone mostly to Henry Cavill because it's simultaneously the cheapest and most expensive show I've ever seen. Some scenes look really good but others look like a fanmade film. Not that those films are bad and I don't know how to explain it but they have a quality to them that makes them not look real even if the costuming and video quality is good. Like that scene in the cave with that goatman and the elder.

I'll see how the second season is reviewed once it comes out and I'll think about checking it out. I know I complained a lot lol but I didn't hate it.

in a better written show maybe i'd ship geralt and yennefer (i don't hate them together btw, and also they're hot so they make a nice picture xD) but the show doesn't give me anything, they meet and suddenly??? geralt is just tying himself to her in such an intrinsic way? i just don't buy it. it's weird, and the writing does not pay off what they show us.

i do ship geraskier, but i get it if you don't! they do have more of a buildup than yennefer and geralt. it seems more natural, and gradual. but again you're right, they could have shown us more of their development.

i like Ciri as a character, but i was bored watching most of her scenes, they just don't do her justice, and the show seems to slow down whenever she shows up (to me). and i also love yennefer, she's a very interesting character!

i actually kinda enjoyed how the show isn't technically very linear, but at the same time it is. because geralt's, yennerfer's and ciri's stories are indeed linear, and yes we're seeing them at the same time as if they were going on at the same time but they aren't. and it was neat when their stories finally aligned. and i enjoyed looking for context clues to see when something has come to be in one of the other one's stories. it was another way to keep me focused in the show when i so often have a hard time to focus on the thing i'm watching lol so in this we kinda disagree. i do understand that it might be complicated and boring to other ppl tho.

having it be three different stories could work better to develop the characters more i agree. but it'd be boring for me, and i'd probably not be able to get through the 3 different shows/parts of a show like that. but again its a matter of preference and i understand where you're coming from.

oh def....some of the cgi is BAD lol and it does come off cheap at times for sure, even if other scenes are amazingly well done. but it's a first season and they were finding their footing so i forgive them to a certain extent.

i am going to watch s02 no matter what the reviews say. not because i love this show but because i love Jaskier LOL he just makes the show so fucking fun for me, you have no idea. and i am interested in what's gonna happen as well. i'm glad you got some enjoyment out of it!
