You sat sideways on the couch, your arm draped over the back, legs tucked up comfortably beneath you. He mirrored your position, though with just one leg brought lazily up onto the couch, leaving his impressively thick thighs spread wide, teasing your fantasies.
Indulging fantasy was why you were there in the first place.
And you almost felt like this was any normal kind of Saturday afternoon with the new boyfriend you were eager to crawl into the lap of and be devoured by for the first time.
The setting fit – cozy living room of a sophisticated man’s apartment with leather furniture, modern art on the walls, small but sufficient kitchen, floor to ceiling windows along one side of the room that led to a private balcony, and a door that you knew would lead to the bedroom.
But it was just a little too tasteful to be real.
And he didn’t live here.
It was all designed to make you feel comfortable, an indulgent illusion of reality.
“You’re sure you’re not thirsty?” he asked.
He hadn’t offered anything alcoholic – strictly against policy so you were both sober – but you declined again with a shake of your head.
“Okay,” he said, “but remember it’s my role to make sure you always feel safe and taken care of, and that includes the small things like getting you a drink, and you can change your mind at any point. You’re not a burden. We are here for you and what you want.”
Warmth bloomed through your core – tinged with desire, but mostly just heat that was part comfort and part reticence. You had never taken such a bold measure of self-indulgence or self-care or self-discovery or whatever this could be called. It had taken almost two months for you to get from scoffing at the suggestion to sitting in the room on this couch across from the brunette Adonis who had said to call him Bucky (a nickname – you were asked to give a nickname as well when you registered and had gone with Rio).
“The last thing we should discuss, if you’re ready to move forward, is your safe word.”
“Brazil,” you responded without hesitation.
He smirked, but it was in no way unkind. “Rio and Brazil – I’m sensing a theme.”
“Another thing on the list of dreams to finally indulge,” the words tumbled out of your mouth.
“I hope that’s another thing you’ll choose to pursue.”
You laughed. “God, it’s so weird just how normal all this conversation feels. We just spoke at length about my kinks and limits and now I’m telling you my hopes and dreams. I’ve rarely shared this much of myself to anyone, and certainly not after only knowing them for less than an hour.”
“Well, part of that is that we all feel a little safer exposing ourselves to strangers because they’re not part of our routine,” Bucky said, “but there’s some trust that’s established by the mere act of us talking about your boundaries. It’s certainly a foundational part of the process. This only works when you feel comfortable with me, if you trust me – otherwise you cannot truly submit to me as your dominant in this arrangement.”
You nodded.
“Trust, strong communication – without them, there’s no way I can expect you to reasonably let go of your inhibitions either,” he soothed, moving his hand forward to brush his fingers over yours.
“The world of BDSM and kink is vast, but it shouldn’t be overwhelming. I never want you to feel like you’re an Alice who’s fallen down a rabbit hole and exposed to and expected to navigate the wonderland on your own.”
“I appreciate that. There’s…” you hesitated, but his rapt attention helped you feel like you could continue the thought on the tip of your tongue. “There’s a lot on the internet – a lot that I thought I knew about this stuff, but even just the registration and profile of preferences I had to fill out was pretty illuminating.”
After the basic registration you had been directed to complete an Experience and Curiosity Checklist that walked you through over 250 different activities and indicate whether you had tried it before or not, your pleasure during that activity if you had, and then a ranking of if you would like to try or do it in this setting – from never to need, if each activity was something you would entertain in a consensually forced situation, and if you would give, receive, or were up for both.
“Illuminating, huh?” Bucky grinned.
You felt just a touch of heat rise in your cheeks.
“You’re incredibly smart, and I like that,” he said, his grin turning to a softer smile. “That long and thorough profile? It’s the key to all of this – it’s not only for you, but also for me. I was matched to you ahead of anyone else on our staff. I’ve been preparing for you.”
“Like studying up?” you interjected.
“Of course, and the time we’ve spent up until now talking is for both of us, as well. You have a question you want to ask, something that wasn’t fully clear to you through your own research and filling out the profile. Ask it.” He tapped gently on your fingers, another motion of reassurance, connection.
“Forced orgasms.”
“I’m not surprised you would want to know more about that particular aspect.”
“I get the general concept, but I guess I don’t understand how that translates into practice,” you admitted.
Bucky nodded. “Sex should be engaged in for intimacy and pleasure – sometimes only pleasure, but not all the partners we are involved with are people we would trust to push us beyond our limits – either because a relationship is new, it’s a one-time thing, or because we don’t know how to communicate the limits and boundaries. Just like anything else, sex is a part of our experience as humans that we learn and grow and change with. A forced orgasm is a way to explore pleasure and power dynamics, but there must be that established trust. They can be both physically and emotionally intense because it could be exploring something new or pushing you past limits – you would give up power and be subjected to my whims.”
You took a deep breath and nodded.
“You give up power, but not safety – that’s important for you to remember. You always have your safe word or tap me three times if you can’t speak, I’ll always stop immediately. Forced can also be a specific part of roleplay scenarios. We can discuss it more, but I think you ought to experience it. Do you think we’ve built enough trust for us to begin?”
“Oh, now?”
“Yes, now, or we could talk more before we begin, we could talk and do nothing more tonight, or you could leave now and go think before your next appointment.”
You bit your lip, but only out of concentration for deciding, not out of nerves.
“What do you want?” he asked patiently.
“I want to begin the physical experience.”
“That kind of specificity will be rewarded, Rio.”
You grinned.
“You didn’t mark this very high on your profile, but I think you’re going to find out you have quite the praise kink.”
You half-gasped and half-giggled, surprised that he would say something so bold and yet also not.
“Strong independent woman like you? High achiever, determined. You’re not vain, and you don’t chase it, but you like recognition outside the bedroom, right?”
“Well, yes.”
“You’ll love it here, too, doll.”
You pressed your thighs closer together. A slow undercurrent of desire had been present since the night began, but as things began to transition, your core was beginning to thrum with anticipation.
“Bucky?”
“Yes?”
“Before we get started, I – well – just – thank you for not asking me why I decided to come here.”
“You didn’t ask me why I chose this profession. It might be oversimplification to say we’re both here because we want to be, but that’s the bottom line, isn’t it?”
“Yeah.”
“Know there will never be an ounce of judgment here – not for your desires, your kinks, your fears, your motivations. Don’t worry about doing anything wrong in there – we’ll be learning what your body wants together. You need to stop, we stop. You need to pause, we pause. You want to go slow or try something again or from a different angle, you tell me. Deal?”
“Deal.” God, he made you feel like the world was at your feet even though you were surrendering to him.
He stood up and pulled you with him. “One more thing.”
“Hmm?”
“In there, you call me ‘sir,’” he said. He brought your hand up and placed a whisper of a kiss on the inside of your wrist.
Everything in you melted instantly and you had to remind yourself to breathe.
“You got that?”
“Yes, sir.”
He smirked.
You knew he was going to ruin you.
You knew this, you knew you were ready and eager, and yet you also could tell nothing in your life had quite set you up for what you were about to experience if he had you pliant and nearly pleading for him after that mere gentle touch.
“Why don’t you head to the bedroom, I’ll give you a few minutes to get comfortable, and then I’ll come in.”
Tumblr media
Two hours later, you were a writhing mess on the mattress, completely naked and splayed out for him while he was still fully clothed. His head was buried between your thighs, your hips firmly in place by his left arm pressing down on your pelvis. The fingers of his other hand were buried in your cunt, stroking the sensitive spot on your inner wall slowly and torturously – because every sensation down there was too much now.
He had traced his fingers over every inch of your limbs, teased your nipples, stroked your neck, ghosted his hands over your hips, teasing until you were pleading for him to touch your pussy.
He had told you once he started, he wouldn’t stop.
You knew he wasn’t lying, but you had never known an experience like this.
He had edged and denied your first orgasm until you were desperate and crying. The ultimate bliss had been blinding. He had praised you, told you your first orgasm with him had been truly beautiful, and your back had actually arched at his words, an inner keening. He’d been right about that kink.
And then he’d been nothing but relentless, bringing you to the edge and back again, then hurtling you over numerous times, with only brief moments of reprieve before torturing you with his lips, teeth, and tongue, with his hands, and with his words. Filthy promises of things he would do, dangled your fantasies in front of you, teased out admissions from you of even darker desires he as he presented new options you’d never considered, all the while pushing you into orgasm after orgasm. You keened and cried.
It was too much, and you told him so.
He disagreed, coaxing that you could give him another, and another.
“Sir,” you sobbed, “sir, stop, I can’t.”
Now the crying was continuous, and those were the only four words you seemed to be able to utter. When it devolved to only hitched breaths and sirs, Bucky slowed and stopped.
“Do you remember your safe word?” he asked.
“Yes,” you rasped.
“And?”
“I didn’t say it.”
He chuckled. “Just checking, Rio.”
“I know it’s Brazil! Break over, keep going.”
“It’s the endorphins – even though the overstimulation is there and it’s uncomfortable, the high with the endorphin release through the pain is its own trip, isn’t it?”
“Yes, yes, now keep your word and don’t stop until I’m utterly broken,” you whined, wiggling your hips as much as you could manage.
His low laugh made you shiver. “You’re going to be one of my favorites, I can tell.”
And then he pressed firmly on that spot inside of you and sucked hard on your clit in one sudden moment and ripped another orgasm and scream from you as you twisted one hand in the sheets and tugged his hair with the other, not ready to stop yet. He was as addictive as he was relentless, and you were not going to leave an ounce of this unexplored, and this was only the beginning.

End Notes: I feel like I knew some of the basics when it comes to BDSM and some of my fics have had BDSM elements, but I did a fair amount of research because I didn't want to do any disservice to the what a healthy relationship exploring BDSM might look like. This is one take. I found some very helpful insight at theduchy.com (specifically their BDSM Experience and Curiosity Checklist) and an article Bustle published by two sex educators that took a very straight-forward approach in discussing some of the basics. I'd go so far as to say there things that I learned or had reaffirmed or got better language/theory about by studying about BDSM that I think should just be base safe sexual practices (around consent, boundaries, exploration, trusting your partner, etc).

Something I find terribly ironic is that, the MCU hates Loki - they really do. They have been very public and open about how they feel about him. They have even made a show about it. They hate him, but they're counting on him to save them, just like the Aesir does in the Norse myths. They know Sylvie and Mobius isn't enough. They know to put all the scenes where Loki actually speaks for himself and looks powerful in the new trailer because they need to give people something that will make them want to watch. I bet you more than half of the scenes of Loki being powerful on his own have been altered, with Sylvie photoshopped out, or mysteriously won't make it into the actual show.
They hate him, but they're counting on him to save them. The sad thing is, he probably will. The show will somehow do good, get rave reviews and ratings that it does not deserve. My prediction for how it's going to end is this : Loki won't be killed, but they'll have a "suitable" ending for him. They'll box him up, nice and neat, and keep him on ice until they need him to save them again.
Yep, all that.
Loki is the golden goose and they're really resentful none of their Turkeys are giving them the shining eggs Loki does.
Two things
So a major aspect of Sylvie I don't like is that she is a essential an OC. I honestly don't know what they were thinking. Say what you want about "women replacing men" but Jen, Kate and Shuri are all long established characters who have supporting cast, have roles in storylines and have been parts of bigger groups. Like, what did they really expect Sylvie to go on to. Not helped by Waititi taking a torch to the Thor mythos. Even Coulson a mcu creation was a way to have S.H.I.E.D. stuff without needing Fury. Did the show runners really think other writers would be chomping at the bit to use Sylvie when stuff like X-Men and Fantastic Four is on its way. Did they expect her to join the Avengers? Why would writers want alternative universe Loki who isn't called Loki when they already have established magic based characters like Wanda and Doctor Strange.... Hey wait a second
The overall treatment of Loki by the TVA is honestly something that became unbearable. Why do they want Loki new look to be him wearing the uniform of fascists that abused him. It was so easy to put Loki against the TVA and make him the hero. Like in the nineties Venom got super popular so they created Carnage to be the even worse villain so Venom by comparison could be good and Transition into anti hero. So that what you think would happen to Loki fight against people who have done even worse than he has. But no he is constantly punch down and belittle and just follows the will of others.
They had it all. One of the most popular characters and all they had to do was show I'm do sneaky manipulative stuff for sake of good instead of evil. But instead they just have him kick down and change everything that people liked so they could introduce new characters and say they were great.

why steve&bucky being artsy people matters (to me)
Steve, canonly an artist; Bucky, canonly a book nerd and possibly an art student as well
and I cannot stress enough how much that means to me
I know people, including myself, have written so many metas about them being female coded but this is important as well.
hypermasculine heroes and the sentimental art & literature don't usually go together. usually when the hero appreciates art it is usually a plot device and they come off as snub and arrogant (look at our protagonist, how knowledgeable he is!).
heroism in MCU seems to be exclusively tied to masculine traits such as good at math and physical strength, and the former usually is valued more than the latter, especially when the 'brain' of the Avengers are always stem bros, even Thor knows his space science in Ragnorok. if you don't know how to build a rocket, throw one, flex those biceps, that'll show the audience how heroic you are.
for example, magic was ridiculed for being feminine in Thor 1. Steve in catfa is specially shown to be clever, he was street smart, but that doesn't really count, does it? after all, everything special about him came from a bottle, right?
even the female love interests in Marvel are often masculine: Jane is a scientist. Peggy & pre-serum Steve's dynamic was also a reversal of traditional male/female role since her introduction was focused on her superior status and physical strength.
the idea that one has to be stem smart to be smart is discriminatory and sexist. more importantly, men don't get sentimental nor do they appreciate art, male heroes aren't supposed to be associated with feminine traits and/activities.
but Steve has always been an artist, he is always emotional and sentimental and he CARES so much. I'm sure Bucky was good at stem but at the end of the day, he's a nerd, he likes books and music, he probably took art class simply bc he LIKED it. they were also shown to express emotional support for others, something often missing from male/masculine characters.
Steve and Bucky's superpower is literally just super strong. taken at face value it's the most simplistic, masculine superpower there is. they fit every stereotypical male hero trope but somehow they just AREN'T that.

2023 Writing Roundup
@hgejfmw-hgejhsf tagged me to do this, and @inexplicablymine actually did, too, a while back, so here we go!
i haven't written much this year- well, no, okay, that's a lie, in terms of word count i've written quite a lot, but in terms of how many fics i've posted, i don't have that many to share, here. but i'm pretty dang proud of what i do have!
May
I Will Soften Every Edge (I'll Do Better) - MCU, 6.6k, T
Tony Stark is unexpectedly thrust into parenthood when he discovers that Spider-Man is not only fourteen years old, but also his son. He's unsure how to proceed from there, until the Vulture destroys a ferry full of people and Tony learns something about his son that makes him reevaluate his own behavior. Gift for hold_our_destiny from my Fic Raffle on Tumblr.
October
It's Nice to Have a Friend - RWRB, 59k, 11 chapters, T
Two boys meet on a beach, build a sand castle, write letters, and fall in love.
November
After Everything, I Must Confess I Need You - RWRB, 5.8k, T
“Fuck,” he gasps, tears springing to his eyes and mixing with the rainwater on his face. He’s not sure if the tears are from the asphalt biting into his palms, or if it’s a release of the emotions he’s been trying to shove down deep ever since he woke up to an empty top bunk at the lake house. Wait. Asphalt. Over the pounding rain, Alex hears the shrill sound of a horn honking, and looks up just in time to be blinded by a pair of headlights coming straight at him. OR: When Alex dares Henry to tell him to leave, Henry actually does. Neither of them could have predicted what happens next.
Upcoming in 2024:
i picked the petals, he loves me not
canon divergence starting from the day Alex and Henry met in Rio, following an AU where Alex develops Hanahaki Disease from Henry asking Shaan to get rid of him.
currently untitled sequel to It's Nice to Have a Friend
Picking up where chapter ten left off (Alex and Henry finally getting together), the sequel will follow the boys as they navigate their new relationship through the ups and downs of long distance, therapy, school, and Ellen's 2016 presidential campaign.
This Love is Worth the Fight
a surprisingly highly-requested sequel to After Everything, I Must Confess I Need You. It will likely be another longfic, due to the amount of ideas I've made notes of, but I don't have anything concrete, yet.
1/124th of a second (credit to Beas for the genius title)
Actor!Henry, Photographer!Alex AU. Sort of an enemies to lovers premise. I won't actually be able to write this one until Mary and George comes out, I don't think, because the premise of it is Alex taking a job as the photographer taking pictures of Henry to promote his role as George Villiers in Mary and George, and he watches the show to prepare for the job, so I might need to be able to actually reference some of the scenes in order to write about Alex watching the show, lol. Other than that, this fic is entirely outlined, so it should be easy to write... once I have access to clips of the show for reference, pfft.
this has been fun to do! so much of the writing i've done this year has taken place over the last four months, that sometimes i forget i did any writing before the month of September 😂 but i did! and it's good writing, too, as hard as that is for me to remember, sometimes.

Characters from the Dark Dimension that I would love to see in the MCU.
Tumblr media
Warning: The images in this post belong to their respective creators, such as Steve Ditko, Ed McGuinness, Luigi Zagaria, among others. Sorry if the images are in poor quality, some comics weren't on the best sites. English is not my main language, sorry if there are errors in the text.
Another Warning: The characters on this list will not be characters like Umar, Olnar, Orini, Dormammu, Clea, etc. I want to focus on lesser-known characters, and currently, Clea is getting a lot of attention and Umar appears more than before. Olnar and Orini are already talked about in certain parts of Fandom and I want to focus on others here.
_______________________________________________
5 - Kronik.
Tumblr media
Okay, let's start with this character, because Kronik only appeared in ONE comic and I'm not even kidding. Kronik appeared in "Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme #78" and he is some kind of Dormammu's personal telepath. Why does Dormammu need a guy like that? I don't know, but the character only served to inform Clea about a new crisis in the Dark Dimension, because some inhabitants were turning into monsters and killing everyone around them. So, Kronik wanted to team up with Clea to defeat this threat, but I believe that this story has not been continued to this day, and if it has, then it is in the darkest corners in the comics, because I never found it.
Now, why would I want to see this character in the MCU? Because I believe it has the potential to be a much better adaptation than the original. Like, his name is "Kronik", which is synonymous with "Chronos, the Personification of Time" in Greek mythology. So why not expand this idea into the MCU? Since the Dark Dimension was established to be "Beyond Time", he could have some important role and still be one of the oldest beings in the Dark Dimension. Perhaps because he was old and wise, Dormammu gave him a place in his royalty and he would talk about the past and FUTURE battles that the Lord of Chaos would face.
4 - G'uranthic Guardian.
Tumblr media
G'uranthic is a character that some people may know exists, but even so, he is mega unknown. For those who don't know, G'uranthic is a being that was created long before Dormammu took the throne and he was created by one of the ancient rulers of the Dark Dimension (G'uran The Great). He is represented as a mystical construct that has immense power, because he was created to obey and protect not only the current ruler of the Dark Dimension, but also keep his palace safe from any threats.
I would really love to see this monster in the movies, because not only would it be one of the most powerful beings in the Dark Dimension, but it would also make a lot of people find the history of the Dark Dimension very rich, even if just a little. Seriously, the Dark Dimension has so much potential and has an interesting story behind it, but it's a shame that Marvel almost never focuses on it.
3 - These 4 Henchmen.
Tumblr media
Yes, those guys. For those who don't know (or don't remember), these 4 henchmen were sent by Dormammu to kill Stephen in "Strange Tales #126". In other words, they were the first 4 henchmen from the Dark Dimension to be revealed in the comics, if you don't count the G'uranthic Guardian and Orini. I'm going to talk about each one separately and let you know that they don't have names, at least not that I know of. I'll talk about each one in order, starting from left to right of the image.
1 - The Golden Golem: This was the first henchman who faced Stephen in the Dark Dimension and his ability is to consume spells. In short, the more spells the opponent throws at him, the bigger and stronger he becomes. I'll admit, I think it would be cool to have this guy in a Doctor Strange movie, because I think it makes sense for Dormammu to have troops that consume spells from his enemies, since the Lord of Chaos is up against several Sorcerers Supreme normally. And of course, I like the look of it, because it's simple and beautiful at the same time.
2 - Dark Knights: These guys attacked Stephen through a portal and were trying to capture him for Dormammu. However, Stephen realized that spells don't work on them and had to use the "Amulet Of Agamotto" to defeat them. Anyway, one idea I thought of for these characters is if they have a power similar to Noob Saibot's power in Mortal Kombat, because Noob (Bi-Han) can create shadows (Saibot) to attack his opponents. It would be easier to combine all these knights into just 1.
3 - Fake Tiboro: Yeah, this guy looks like Tiboro to me because of the helmet, but whatever. This guy is just a distraction for Stephen, because the next henchman wanted to surprise Stephen. However, I can imagine this guy being just an evil spirit who hangs out with the henchman and could have a more menacing look in the movies. Speaking of that other henchman...
4 - The Bubble Guy: Yes, this guy's power is to release bubbles and he almost managed to crush Stephen with them. However, Stephen being smart, managed to create a hole inside the bubble and released a spell to trap the enemy inside another bubble. As much as I can't invent many things for this henchman, I will admit that his helmet reminds me of the hat that the Pope (or Priest, I don't know) wears in churches. In short, I think this guy could be some kind of leader in Dormammu's cults, because Dormammu wants to control everyone not only by force, but by religion as well. I don't know, it would be interesting and it would also explain why certain inhabitants of the Dark Dimension are loyal to Dormammu.
Anyway, these are the ideas I have for these henchmen.
2 - Asti The All-Seeing.
Tumblr media
Now, let's talk about one of the most interesting characters in the Dark Dimension and one of the most wasted to date. Asti is one of Dormammu's servants, he appears to have many duties, he is sent to fight, lure, capture and keep an eye on the Dark Lord's adversaries. This character even worked for The Maker for a while, but that doesn't matter. His powers seem to be based more on summons, such as summoning creatures, tentacles, etc. He appears to be powerful and even faced Wiccan himself once, despite losing.
Asti even has potential, because I think he could be one of the few servants that Dormammu trusts in the MCU and could still be considered a friend, honestly. He could be sent to keep an eye on many things, even Dormammu's own family. I believe that Asti could have a similar personality to Starscream in "Transformers: Prime", but the difference is that he is loyal to his master and perhaps he will be loyal to Clea, if she is Dormammu's apprentice in the MCU. It would make sense for Dormammu to have "Eyes and Ears" in places he can't be or doesn't have control over.
1 - Jack The Ripper.
Tumblr media
Yes, Jack is a being from the Dark Dimension in the Marvel Universe, but with some differences. Long story short, Dormammu sent a parasite to England because he couldn't invade Earth at that time, thanks to the Ancient One. Then, when the parasite arrived in London, it possessed a man called "Tom Malverne" and used his body to cause the deaths of several people. However, according to certain Thor comics, it is said that the parasite is from a race called "Zaniac", but I can't say if this is true, because I don't read many Thor comics. Jack has the ability to create knives through his body and cause immense savagery in the host he is possessing.
I know that Jack is a person who existed in real life and maybe Marvel would never have the courage to put him in the movies, but man, how I wanted to see him in a Doctor Strange movie or series. He could be one of Dormammu's most lethal assassins/agents and still be very intimidating with his comic book look. Listen, if the Ancient One got a series in the MCU, I believe Jack could appear as the Main Villain. Like, it was said that the Ancient One was the last in a long line of Sorcerers Supreme, but we still don't know what happened and what forced her to use the power of the Dark Dimension. However, Jack could be the perfect explanation for this, because he could have arrived on Earth to destroy the Sanctum in London and then go on to destroy the other Sanctums for Dormammu. BUT, the Sorcerers were there to prevent this, but Jack managed to kill them and the Ancient One was forced to use the power of the Dark Dimension to banish/destroy Jack and live long enough until Stephen arrived in Kamar-Taj.
_______________________________________________
Anyway, that's the list, and once again, I'm sorry if there are errors in the text because of my English. This post was supposed to be released a long time ago, but I ended up being too lazy to finish it. I hope you liked the post and tell me what you thought later.

It’s really frustrating how Gamora wasn’t given proper nuance in the first two movies because then vol 3 might’ve been less frustrating. If her issues had been explored in depth (in vol 2 especially) her being feral for 90% of the film would’ve been interesting enough on its own, but because the first two films focus so heavily on Quill and the third on Rocket we don’t get enough time with either version of Gamora to see what makes her tick.
Ooooh boy I've got a lot to say on this.
The personality that Gamora has in Vol 3 is one that we have seen before... in the deleted scenes of Vol 1. Since those never made it to the final cut, the majority haven't seen them, don't know they exist, and I wouldn't count them as canon.
It makes her Vol 3 personality jarring, to say the least, which is an in issue. Vol 3 Gamora is the first time MCU Gamora has been anything really like her comic counterpart. Gamora's... very sharp, very volatile and doesn't tend to be the nicest person in the room. Gamora in Vol 1 & 2 was put into the "team mom" role which really isn't a place she should ever hold. At best, it should be like Infinity Watch, where she just thinks she holds it because she's decided she's the most responsible when in reality. she's fucking crazy.
Vol 3 also doesn't fit the established beat of the past two films; Peter is our clear protagonist, Rocket is the secret protagonist, and Gamora is the female protagonist. She gets things moving. It's her thoughts, her wants, that ultimately drive the films forward. She wants to save Xandar, she wants to escape Thanos, and it's those two things that push the first film forward. It's her want for familial connection (that she finds with Nebula eventually) that leads her to encourage Peter to go with Ego; if she hadn't been looking for that herself, I doubt she would've ever told him to go.
It also drops the sister dynamic between Gamora and Nebula, literally the one thread that links the Guardians appearances consistently through Vol 1 right over to Endgame. It's the beating heart of it all and shown time and time again to be important and then.... nothing. Vol 3 doesn't dare address that they've both lost the only sister they've known and what stands before them is essentially a stranger. It doesn't address that both of them know there's a version of them that is dead and has lost their future (and they both know that the future that version of them lost was a GOOD one). There's so much to work with, and it never gets picked up on at all.
Gamora's the moral center of the team, it's beating heart. She's always been the driving force of the plot, even in Infinity War, and she's central to most of the Guardians appearances in Endgame.
In Vol 3, she's there, I guess.
And even back then, even when she's so important to the films... like all women in the GOTG franchise, she's not nearly as delved into as the men. Don't get me wrong, she's a hell of a step up from Mantis, but... it's not as much as it should be.
It's an issue that feels especially because, as much as I adore Rocket & how well done his side of things was, Volume 3 needed to be Gamora's movie.
How Infinity War left her was bad. How Endgame left her was also bad. How Volume 3 chose to present her was worse.
This movie needed to have at least some focus on fixing what went wrong but we somehow ended up with Cosmo & Kraglin getting more development & Yondu getting better treatment than dead Gamora.
I get that Rocket is Gunn's favorite and Gamora is not, but honestly? Not a good enough excuse.
A woman of color got violently fridged to make her abuser more sympathetic. Something needed to be done to fix that and that was sacrificed to... further a raccoon's story & downplay the abuse of two major women (Gamora&Nebula) in this franchise. I don't care how much Gunn loves Rocket, he should've done every damn woman in the franchise better.

How many works do you have on AO3?
40

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
always! I love the back-and-forth of comments, on my fics and others'. what a lovely way to get to know people and talk more about our blorbos and learn things about writing. and as much as I love to get wordy in comments, I also treasure the keysmashes and emojis and respond in heartfelt kind.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
yeah I don't really do angst
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
any ending where our main characters are in love and getting a good night's rest
Do you write crossovers?

I have them! can't think of specific ones right now
What are your writing weaknesses?
various writing skills etc etc but above all EXECUTIVE FUNCTION DEFICIT MY BELOATHED
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I have a thousand-word essay in me about this which I may sit down to write and post eventually. short version, the role of "other" languages in my own day to day speech is significantly different from how most characters in fics would experience "switching" languages, and my thoughts on this in fic are changing as I think more about that and where the line is between that and Gratuitous Foreign Language TM
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Buffy
What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
a certain crossover that has been in my wips for TWO YEARS now! it would be not only my first time writing this ship but the first time anyone has posted this ship to ao3! unless of course someone beats me to it, in which case I will be very enthusiastically 👀 about theirs while continuing to work on my own.
what ship might this be? Meeka/Vincent from Coming 2 America and Disorder respectively >:)
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written
Not a Gentle Laughter continues to be the fic I go back to for comfort. off the charts Jewish Booker feels with a happy ending because BoN are both in love and in political solidarity, so of course it is, you can't get more me than that.

This is actually 3 things because ongoing breakup situation fried my brain so I kept forgetting. 1. That Peggy meta was a thing of beauty and I love that you managed to make her imperfect without ever falling into "this British aristocrat is a Relatable Underdog." 2. I kinda want to write my "alt!Loki hitting both his own and Thor's avengers beats" theory, but I don't want to make you feel like I'm trying to get you to go back to morning when I like Home a lot, your call? 3. Talk about Howard?
Aww, I'm sorry to hear you're not having a good time. <33333
I CANNOT get over the fact that the MCU tried to (a) make Peggy's and Whitney Frost's situations equivalent to each other in AC S2 when the flashbacks themselves made it clear that Peggy had every advantage Whitney didn't and (b) make Peggy's and Steve's situations equivalent to each other in CATFA and What If. I can actually see Peggy assuming growing up privileged but expected to fit into a certain role is equivalent to growing up poor, second gen, sickly, and with a single parent, but the narrative itself seemed to feel like those were identical, which is seriously uncomfortable.
I would be delighted to hear your alt!Loki theory! I don't get bothered about Morning the way I do with my Star Wars fic; I know exactly what's going to happen and how this story is going to end, I just haven't felt like working on it lately. So I would love to hear your theory!
Howard is a freak, which I say quite often and with affection. I don't think the MCU in any way intended him to be; it's a consequence of Howard mostly appearing in other people's memories, more as a plot device than a character, which is what he is in Tony's narrative. (And Tony says as much in his first scene in CACW.) We only see Howard as a non-constructed character on very few occasions and the only really extended occasion is CATFA, which is a much younger Howard than we see in Ant-Man or Endgame, or even his very brief flashback appearance in CACW. (I count IM2 as a constructed Howard because he's on camera and he knows he's on camera, he's just constructing himself here rather than being created by other people's memories/needs/etc.) Because Howard plays this wide variety of roles -- distant father, industrialist, inspirational father, casus belli, domineering boss, etc. -- it's easy to overlook what we see of Howard which isn't filtered through other people. I mean, literally, our introduction to Howard in IM1 is in newspaper articles about him. In IM2, it's Tony's memory of him, it's Fury using him to manipulate Tony, it's recorded videos -- and then CATFA we actually meet Howard, who is already at this point living the double life that Fury tells Tony about in IM2. Nobody knows he's involved with the SSR, just like for seventy years no one knew he was a member of SHIELD -- twenty years after his death! -- no one outside of SHIELD knew he was a member of SHIELD, including his own family. And the fact that Howard is the kind of person who not only could keep that secret, but actually did is such a major characterization note that should be the first thing anyone thinks of when it comes to him. Because everything else he does should be filtered through "this man is keeping a huge chunk of his life a secret." (and, I mean, one could definitely look at that as a metaphor for "Howard Stark was in love with a man for fifty years," but also it's...not a metaphor, he literally did that.)

It's an aggravating thing that bad friend Scott only works without context. Every example in auntie Scott can give falls apart wants to contacts of the situation gets involved. And anytime a defense squad member points that out they claim we're making up excuses.
Tumblr media
A member of the Sterek fandom recently argued with me, saying that "You can't be racist toward a fictional character." This is ludicrous, of course: literature, cinema, and television are full of characters to whom the audience reacted with animosity because they were the "wrong" race. Take the rage of the certain people in the last few years about Ariel the mermaid being played by someone who wasn't white, or Arondir in the Rings of Power, or Mary Jane Watson in the MCU version of Spider-Man. These are absolutely fictional characters.
They don't think they're being racist. Or, more precisely, they can't admit to themselves that race is playing a role in how they react to a fictional story. When it comes to the Teen Wolf fandom, this is at the heart of the people who hate Scott. It always ends up, when those people are brave enough to give actual reasons, that they hate him for things for which they not only forgive Derek, Peter, Stiles and Theo but for things they have also celebrated on occasion. What makes them hate Scott makes Any White Male Character interesting.
For example, take one of their favorite 'reasons' to hate Scott -- the final scene of Magic Bullet (1x04). They think Scott is a terrible person for even suggesting that Derek's family, including children, deserved to burn, though that's not actually what he said.
Scott: So - What makes you so sure that they set the fire? Derek: 'Cause they're the only ones that knew about us. Scott: Well, then - They had a reason.
Now, a point they have to forget is that neither the audience nor Scott at that time knew there were children in there. That won't be revealed until Chris says it in Code Breaker (1x12), eight episodes later. They don't care that Scott has just spent an episode breaking into the Argent home for a bullet that saved Derek's life or at least arm. They don't care that Scott is looking at a werewolf put into a coma by a family he just stole from! But even as they successfully twist his panic into Scott celebrating the death of innocent children, they are busy purposefully forgetting the context of other scenes.
Like Stiles accusing Derek of murdering Laura out of jealousy in Second Chance at First Line (1x02) two episodes earlier. Stiles didn't know the murder victim is Laura, of course, either.
Stiles: Okay, just so you know, I'm not afraid of you. Okay, maybe I am. Doesn't matter. I just wanna know something. The girl you killed - she was a werewolf. She was a different kind, wasn't she? I mean, she could turn herself into an actual wolf, and I know Scott can't do that. Is that why you killed her?
This, to the fandom, is banter. And that's not counting Stiles's jibes at Derek through that entire episode while Derek is dying. But Stiles doesn't care that Derek is in trouble, does he?
Stiles: All right. What happens if Scott doesn't find your little magic bullet? Hmm? Are you dying? Derek: Not yet. I have a last resort. Stiles: What do you mean? What last resort? Oh, my God. What is that? Oh, is that contagious? You know what, you should probably just get out.
To them, this is not a shocking degree of callousness from Stiles in the face of blood and death, similarly to how Scott's insensitive words are an attempt to make sense of the world he finds himself; this is more banter.
And that's the point. When it comes to a 16-year-old newly bitten werewolf who has been told that very same episode that if he doesn't kill with the alpha, the alpha will kill him, saying that maybe his girlfriend's family needs a reason to kill him is an unforgivable degree of heartlessness. But when the 16-year-old who is only in danger because of his loyalty, who could go to his father for protection at any time, tells Derek to his face that Stiles doesn't care if he lives or dies, that's incipient romance.
What's the difference? If you strip context from it, we have two 16 year old boys who said insensitive things. The fandom treats the Latino one as if he's worthy of hate and treats the white one as if he's met his soulmate. With the context or without the context, there's only one way to interpret fandom's behavior.
BUT IT'S NOT RACISM.

20 questions for fic writers
sorta tagged by @antivanruffles
How many works do you have on ao3?
130 excluding the the podfics I'm listed as a co-author on
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
230,000. I'm a very succinct writer!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently OFMD. I have written a lot of (in descending order) Star Wars sequel trilogy, Good Omens, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Critical Role, and MCU.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
we wore the jacket for the longest time (Star Wars ST, Finn/Poe/Rey, 3200)
well you laughed baby it's okay (it's buzzcut season anyways) (nsfw; Good Omens, Aziraphale/Crowley, 1100)
human sacrifice and mass hysteria (nsfw, DA:I, Cullen/Dorian, 1080) This one has a weirdly long tail. I still get bursts of kudos on it every now and then.
balance theory (The Old Guard, Joe/Nicky foe yay, 660)
taste the stardust in my mouth (Star Wars ST, Finn/Poe/Rey, 560)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I do not. I don't have enough energy to write and respond to comments, so I'm sure people would rather I write. They are all appreciated though <3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
a knife on the things that held us together for sure. It sets up the rift between Han and Leia after Ben's attack on the Praxeum and it's the last time Leia sees her brother. I was so emotionally wiped by it I couldn't even think about writing for two weeks hahaha
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics have happy endings, or at least hopeful ones.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
If I do nobody has ever told me.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do! I'm not sure what "what kind" means.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've written exactly one, the Will Graham/Aziraphale one (I swear it makes sense in context). ngl it's pretty weird. Plenty of AUs set in different universes though!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I have. Somebody plagiarized "but you laughed baby" beat for beat. When I confronted them about it they said they must have subconsciously regurgitated it. Binch, I had to reread my own fic to compare, don't give me that shit. (They deleted their entire account afterwards. I'm not sad.)
12. What's the longest you've spent working on one fic? And the shortest?
Shortest is drabbles, and those take anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Longest? I still have a Mass Effect fic that I've been picking at on and off since 2012. I should just finish it up.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I refuse to pick.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The Good Omens While You Were Sleeping AU is my only actual posted WIP. There are Reasons I tend not to post unfinished stuff.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm really good at nailing character voices and dialogue. I think I'm decent at striking a balance between pretty language and making sure it still moves things along. I have been told I'm very good at intimate character interaction.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
What the fuck is a plot?
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Unless you're going for the half-remembered vocabulary because diaspora kid vibe (which I did in my Shang-Chi fic), get somebody fluent to translate for you. The amount of horrific Spanish I've seen in OFMD fic is... not good.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
X2! I thought I was very clever making puns on "le petit mort" in a Rogue fic
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I have a series! I love the extremely weird ones I wrote just for myself that nobody else seems to like, although the Ed/Blackbeard/Stede one is an exception.
I am where memes go to die, so if you want to do this, consider yourself tagged.

19 Questions Meme
Supposed to be 20 questions, but one seems to have vanished along the way. Thank you to @spiced-wine-fic for tagging me.
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 120, though some of those are moodboards instead of fic.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 492,336 words. I'm not prolific.
3. What fandoms do you write for? Star Wars, in the Kanan comics niche of the Rebels subfandom but I also work in rather a lot of Prequels-related material and I love the JFO/Survivor era. I also wrote a lot in the Tolkien fandom, Silmarillion side, but I'm only dipping my toes into the fandom at the moment and I'm not sure I'll return in depth.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
I am not the world's biggest fan of sorting by kudos; kudos doesn't mean best, it simply means popular. And often in the case of AO3, it means "in a popular fandom" so it skews results. There are plenty of fantastic fics that don't have a lot of kudos. And just because they're in the top-5 doesn't mean the author thinks they're their best works.
I'll step off my soapbox now. In order from most to least: To Remake the Universe (MCU), In Deep or In Darkness (MCU-Young Wizards crossover), Never Discussed But Silently Acknowledged (Star Wars), An Unexpected Welcome (Tolkien), Evolving Roles (Star Wars).
5. Do you respond to comments? Always. On one level, it's simply polite to say "thank you" to compliments. On an entirely different level, commenting on fics was how I found fandom friends, especially in my early years in fandom.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? The one where I killed (BBC) Merlin.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? *shrugs* I mostly write happy endings. Readers' choice of which is the happiest.
8. Do you get hate on fics? A few times. I'm generally able to laugh about it now. There are a couple of hate comments I find truly hilarious.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Nope.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Love 'em. I write a lot of Star Wars-Tolkien crossovers. I have no idea which one people would think is the most out there.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes. The two I know of are on AO3 but there have been a handful of others over the years that people asked if they could translate and I have no idea if they ever were, where they were posted, or (at this end of time) even what stories they were.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? A fic, no, but for a bit, I co-wrote a short-lived series.
13. What’s your all time favorite ship? Elrond/Celebrían for Tolkien. For Star Wars, Han/Leia and Padme/Anakin. Favorite noncanon Star Wars is Owen/Beru/Obi-Wan.
14. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? ...So I posted a WIP a couple of weeks ago. It is the only WIP I've posted because my policy is to only post completed fics. I'd hoped that I'd get some encouragement to write more but I'm honestly not sure anyone realized it was a WIP because I didn't get encouragement to continue or a single "looking forward to more!" type of comment. I lost the little bit of enthusiasm I had because I'd been stalled on the fic for a while (I began writing it in fall 2020!) and it really feels like I could walk away from it and no one would care.
15. What are your writing strengths? I am sadly the type of writer who has a hard time seeing her strengths.
16. What are your writing weaknesses? Description is my go-too weakness. You can probably add writing romance to this.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I prefer not to except for dramatic effect. I'm, for better or worse, monolingual. And I refuse to learn conlangs just to read a fic. If there's too much dialogue in a conlang, I'll hit the back button.
18. First fandom you wrote for? Mutant X.
19. Favourite fic you’ve written? I don't have an answer for that. Or at least a permanent one; there's a handful of fics that rotate through that position depending on mood, time of day, opinion toward the fandom, etc.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @skyyknights and @traveleorzea ! Forever ago but I'm finally getting around to tackling all these questions. Thank you so much for the tags! :D I decided to answer these questions (mostly) based only on the fics I have posted to AO3 right now. I could have answered some of these questions based on WIP's I haven't posted yet, but I decided to keep it simple. The stupid new format of Tumblr kept screwing up my links, which is part of the reason why it took me so long to post this.
1. How many works do you have on AO3? At the moment, only 43!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 39,225 as of December 30, 2023. I expect this to skyrocket once I eventually post my megafics for Transformers and Fire Emblem. But, it is not this day.
3. What fandoms do you write for? Anything I want to write for 🔥❤️‍🔥🔥The Legend of Zelda, Transformers, Miraculous Ladybug, Fire Emblem, the MCU, Critical Role, and Puss in Boots are the fandoms represented on my AO3 now, but that's only the beginning! I have a few more fics in the works for many other fandoms, including but not limited to Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario, Batfam, Honor Among Thieves, and The Stormlight Archive, that simply aren't ready for AO3 yet. I hope to get them up someday, in the years to come. 4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? From the top and descending, that would be: "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie" (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) I'm genuinely unsurprised this is at the peak. It's held this rank ever since I posted it. Wholesome Team Friendship Fluff, post-movie! "To Bee a Leader" (Transformers: Robots in Disguise 2015) This one always surprises me!!! I never expected it to get so much traction! But I'm so happy it keeps getting hits! I'm so happy people are enjoying / relating to my Prime in Disguise Bumblebee angst + emotional hurt / comfort! "Release Me" (The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom) With the advent of TotK, it is only logical that this shot to the top 5. This is my fic I wrote before the game released, where I theorized: what if the green arm was actually antagonistic? "Watched" (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess) I think the LU fandom finally found this one, because it wasn't this high in the ranks before, lol. It's not technically Linked Universe, but you could certainly read it as either TLoZ or LU, as you prefer. Pre-canon, still in Ordon Village, Link doesn't know it...but he's being watched. "A Name Aptly Chosen" (Bumblebee (2018) / Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) Oh, when did this happen??? When did you hit the top 5? 👀 This is news to me! This makes me so happy!!! This is how I imagine Bumblebee explained to Optimus Prime his name-change from "B-127" to "Bumblebee" ✨
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Most of the time, yes! I love when readers leave comments because I'm excited to hear what in my writing stood out to them. Thus, I try to reply to as many as I can. I hope that if I stay engaged with my readers, they'll feel more comfortable with commenting, whether on my fics or someone else's ✨ That being said, however, when particular comments don't pass the vibe check, I see no need to reward with any response. <3
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Ooh. As of now, that trophy goes to "Where Sorrow Rings" (Fire Emblem: Engage). A close second might be "Out of Tune" (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.) (The even-heavier angst that I write is currently unpublished, because most of it is in my megafics.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Good question! My first instinct would be Let Sleeping Dogs Lie, but depending on preference, I suppose Welcome Home and Dissonant Echoes could possibly compete with that one.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not much yet (lol), but I figure it'll happen eventually because that's how the Internet works, regrettably. 9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Nope. I don't read it either.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Lol, this is a super funny question for me personally. I crossover so many things, but my best crossovers haven't made it to AO3 yet because I'm still building up the greatness to reach its full potential. I think the only crossover I have right now on AO3 is a Stormlight!AU for TLoZ, The Song of Stormlight. But oh, the crossovers in my mind...! I gotta mention some of them just for fun, in the hopes it'll motivate me to bring them to fruition:
Psych x Transformers Assassin's Creed x Transformers Assassin's Creed x Fire Emblem Fire Emblem x TLoZ Fire Emblem x TLoZ x MCU x MtG x Nintendo-in-general x 신의 x Stormlight Archive x literally anything else I can think of and no I am not joking, this is very much a thing. This is my magnum opus. One of the biggest worlds I'll ever write; one of the biggest projects I've been working on for many years that have already passed, as well as many more years to come.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I hope not. 🗡️🗡️🗡️
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I know of. If someone wanted to translate a fic of mine, I might be truly honored, but I would want them to ask permission first.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Hmm...not seriously. I've collaborated worldbuilding with many people over the years, and done much roleplaying, but I've never co-written a "fic" that wasn't a for-fun "Round Robin" game.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? OoT Zelink. They are my OTP.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? *laughs That could be literally any of my WIP's at any point. I want to finish them all. I plan to finish them all. I hope to finish them all. But, actually finishing them all is dependent upon many factors. I think of ideas faster than I can finish them, and I have many priorities to juggle. I hope I don't abandon my stories, but I make no promises. Even so, I try not to doubt that I'll finish my fics; I strive to keep a positive mindset, because that will lend me the motivation to finish them, even if it takes me years to do so.
16. What are your writing strengths? Dialogue, poetry (I love writing words to a beat even within prose), and coming up with titles, to name a few!
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Finishing
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I think it's delightful when it's executed well, and distracting when it's not. That's why I try to be careful when I attempt to do so. When I do so, I wish to respect the language and the culture the language is a part of; language has much nuance, so I don't just wanna copy-paste something from the Goog's Translate without taking certain linguistic factors into account.
19. First fandom you wrote for? The first fandom I posted for on AO3 was Transformers: Prime. That's not the first fandom I ever wrote for, but I'm not telling you that, Tumblr.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written? This is a cruel question. I could well cheat this question and say "all my fics are my favorite fics I've ever written, because writing is a delight." I would mean that. But, in the spirit of the ask game, I will respond with "Safe With You." 🏍️ Oh, I just realized now I gotta tag people 😂 All rightyyyy, I'm sorry if you've been tagged before, but I'm going to tag @misscrazyfangirl321 @cooking-with-hailstones @clawedandcute and @margindoodles2407 but only if you want to! <3
P.S. This is probably self-explanatory but just in case: if you hop onto this game, please make a new post <3 Thank you in advance, friends!

Honestly I disagree with you guys and what makes me uncomfortable isn’t questioning my own opinions - I don’t care enough about Loki to be made uncomfortable by my thoughts on him - but more the fact that a group of people sitting here stewing like this over a few hours of television with most of that stewing rage directed at women is really fucking unsettling. It’s MRA energy.
*sigh*
quick question for you bestie: if you don't care much about LOKI, what are you doing on my blog? cos my blog is literally only serving takes in support of LOKI... 24/7. seems like it'd be boring reading for you, chum
aside from that...
stop treating "women" like we (yes, we, that's right, i am one) are too fragile and precious to receive any kind of negative opinions, feedback, thoughts, or criticism. it's belittling and insulting.
if you look at the proportion of male vs female that have received criticisms on my blog, by my count we are at 11 male to 5 female*. so i'm not really seeing your misogyny point being borne out by any actual evidence? but go off, i guess.
let people have opinions on things. let people like things and let people dislike things.
true facts - i wouldn't give a shit about a character called sylvie existing except that she was used to obliterate a character that i love. i didn't give a shit about a woman named sophia being hired to portray that character until she started saying real-world things that i found arrogant or offensive. even so, i've never endorsed or incited actual harm against her because that's sick disgusting behaviour, but i don't have to pretend to LIKE her or APPROVE of everything that comes out of her mouth. i can say that i think she doesn't have the first clue who LOKI is or what his story is actually about. i can say that i wish she leaves the MCU and her character dies permanently. i can say that i wish she would shut up talking about LOKI - and about tom too - and stick to her own character in interviews. i can say that i didn't find her performance convincing or plausible, and that i fully believe she was a very weak link in an otherwise strong and experienced cast; who apparently only got the role through being kate's bestie from a previous project. yes i understand how connections work in an industry. but i also understand overlooking those connections if your buddy just isn't right for the role. and i've seen more experienced and talented directors (keywords) pass their mates over in favour of a better fit for the project. i wish they'd done it this time too (not that it could have saved the show but maybe i wouldn't hate her character so much if she'd been played differently. we will never know.)
anyhow.
if my "stewing rage" lol unsettles you so much - you're totally welcome to stop reading my takes? like, you're coming at me via anon so i literally have no clue who you even are, it's not as if i'd even notice if you block me? and, if you want to keep reading, you're welcome to do that too? whether you agree with me or not. you can even invite arguments with me about some of my opinions, if that blows your hair back. but seriously... the name-calling is a little weak. if you want to insult me, do your research and pick something that can actually stick. /advice

for the tws au i can see nancy as peggy tbh. even tho im not v interested in ronance, ngl i sorta was thinking about it with steve as steve for some reason lol, bet i got confused bc of the name! but i was thinking about nancy as peggy just bc like steve & nancys relationship sorta has a "missing/longing for what could have been if not for X happening" type of quality to it, i also thought nancy with gun, peggy with gun, hmmmm....
also i have to say i love the au idea but also it reminded me of how much i don't love steves ending in endgame lol! im not gonna get into it too much, but like he literally just got his bestie back from the dust and then he goes to spend the rest of his life with a woman he has already mourned and come to terms with the loss???? and Also crazy to not spend his life with his best friend whos the Literally only person IN THE WORLD who can relate to his experiences of being "a man out of time" like even when he goes back in time he's already lived in the 21st century, he will still be out of place in the 40s. okay I'm gonna stop now! <3
Oh yeah! I initially thought of Nancy for Peggy too because she could fit as a Peggy role well, (even tho I also don't care much for rnce) but I also didn't want to have Nancy be the only one from the past! Totally agree that steve as cap au would have that same "what would have been" kind of longing that would fit stancy nicely? also there's that scene in first avenger where peggy just. shoots at steve(rogers) when he has the shield and that's such a nancy thing to do (no gun safety😔)
buddy....my pal....you do NOT have to tell me about how weird and icky and unsatisfying Steve's endgame plot was. (if i continue the au i am NOT following mcu canon past catws) You are so right on all counts. Like. the centre of literally every decision Steve made in the three movies that centred him was about Bucky. His best friend who he thought was dead and miraculously got back! Like. WHY did he abandon his BOY in endgame. Not just the only person in the whole WORLD to be able to understand not only being a man out of time but also being a supersoldier, but also his best friend whom he has risked everything for multiple times! it doesn't make sense its so dumb. I stopped caring about mc/u way before endgame tho so i just pretend it didn't happen it's just frustrating. ca wintersoldier makes me unwell forever. [deleted an analysis of why ws is one of the best mcu films so if you want my caws opinions feel free to drop back in lol]

Who should play Professor X in the MCU?
Tumblr media
Despite multiple X-Men movies with multiple bad interpretations of classic X-Men characters, Professor X is a character that has been adapted to the screen fairly well.
With Patrick Stewart portraying in multiple X-Men films and even all the Wolverine films (yes post credit scenes count), and James McAvoy playing a younger Charles, both felt like the same character but in very different parts of his life.
With the X-Men on their way, it's nearly impossible to imagine them without a Charles Xavier, even just to begin with. So I will be my darnedest to cast a Charles who feels fresh but can live up to both these outstanding actors.
Before we look at who we should cast. We need to answer a few questions.
What can we learn from past portrayals?
As with all my castings (check out Flash and Lex Luthor here), I will briefly go over what came before and what I loved about them to look ahead, starting with:
Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier
Tumblr media
I mean, he's a legend.
Patrick Stewart is most people's definitive Charles Xavier and it is easy to see why. He's charming, calm, and a strong steady presence for his X-Men.
Stewart portrays a wisdom mixed with sincerity that I quite like. You get the sense he genuinely believes humanity, even when it fails him.
I do want a that genuine nature, but my only fault with this version is he is not arrogant enough. We get glimpses of it in X-Men the Last Stand, but Charles can be and should be wrong in many of his decisions. Unlike most mutants, Charles views all come from privilege, and that should be reflected through mistakes.
James McAvoy as Charles Xavier
Tumblr media
While I'll admit Stewart feels more like classic Charles, James McAvoy's version is still my favorite.
While he still contains that half glass full hope that Stewart has, McAvoy mixes it with this arrogance, charm, and wit of a young man I just love.
McAvoy was able to lean into the flaws of Charles, making him more relatable and sympathetic. I think he was a standout of the First Class, and was able to hold his own with the likes of Hugh Jackman.
This should be more of the blueprint for me, someone who guises their poor decisions with a calm intelligence and logic that often lead the X-Men into more trouble.
Where does Charles fit in the MCU?
Tumblr media
In my mind, Charles will not be the leader of the team for long. I think a well-intentioned Charles could die within the first two films, leaving the X-Men to find a new leader and continue his legacy.
This gives us enough room to get an actor who maybe wouldn't normally do a role like this and leaves the X-Men in an interesting place to elect a new leader. Perhaps Storm, Cyclops, or even Magneto.
What ethnicity/race should Charles be?
Tumblr media
Charles has been exclusively white through media, particularly British.
While I don't think he needs to be white, British is a staple of the character and I think adds a barrier of "I'm better than you" to others that I want to keep.
I do think it is interesting that for a team that is meant to be a metaphor for racism, there is hardly any people of color on the X-Men.
While I think there is value to keeping Charles white, as he is the embodiment of privilege leading the X-Men, I will say a person of color can still nab this one.
Any other stipulations?
Tumblr media
Yes, a few.
We want an actor old enough to feel like an equal to a Magneto and an elder of the team. While we don't have a clear view of how the MCU would do a Magneto, I think over 50 is a safe bet.
Given we had Stewart and McAvoy, we have some wiggle room to get some big name actors. We should go for names only.
I don't like casting people who have already been in superhero media. It's not entirely off the table, but most likely I will look elsewhere.
Bald is cool but not a dealbreaker.
Let's get into it.
3. Jude Law
Tumblr media
I know I just said no superhero repeats, but he is just too good.
Jude Law is known for roles like Dr. John Watson, Dumbledore, and Yon-Rogg, Law has an intense presence that cannot be denied.
While he is a bit younger, just on the cusp of 50, I can see Law playing a very flawed version of Charles, picking up right where McAvoy left off.
My main concern is he has played a role within the MCU before, as Yon-Rogg.
Tumblr media
While he was wasted here, it was a noticeable role, and MCU fans aren't soon to forget.
I also don't know if Law is a big enough name to helm the X-Men or take over for the great performances that came before.
I think he's got a solid shot, but there's a few more I like a bit more.
2. Daniel Craig
Tumblr media
Arrogant. Smartest person in the room. Cool smooth British man. Daniel Craig has done it all.
Known for James Bond or Benoit Blanc, Craig has been known to part of big franchises, (although he seems less excited about it these days.)
While he was apparently rumored to play Balder in Multiverse of Madness, Craig has not been in a part of any Marvel or DC Comics.
I think this role suits his resume quite nicely, and depending on the writer/director, this could be the best Professor X we have ever seen.
If it weren't for his history being anti Bond, and his love for Benoit Blanc, I'd say this would be a slam dunk. But because of the uncertainty, I have to leave him at number 2.
1. David Oyelowo
Tumblr media
Known for roles in Selma, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Nightingale, and The Butler, David Oyelowo may be the only name on this list you don't know.
Oyelowo is best known for playing Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, where he was nominated for several awards.
Charles Xavier is often seen as a stand in for MLK in the X-Men Universe, so casting MLK as Charles can be kind of meta, and we can play with expectations.
Oyelowo has played unlikeable villains, heroes of Civil Rights, even a redeemed empire soldier (watch Star Wars Rebels it's really good).
Tumblr media
This Charles can go in any direction we want, and with an actor who won't take us out of the film for their name.
While he is the youngest actor, at 47, Oyelowo can play older believably, and can easily play a mentor to the X-Men.
And as a person of color, I believe this will help the metaphor of the X-Men and racism feel improved.
If we want a dramatic force with room to see where this Charles leans, I think Oyelowo is the way to go.
