Currently OFMD. I have written a lot of (in descending order) Star Wars sequel trilogy, Good Omens, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Critical Role, and MCU.

I do not. I don't have enough energy to write and respond to comments, so I'm sure people would rather I write. They are all appreciated though <3

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

a knife on the things that held us together for sure. It sets up the rift between Han and Leia after Ben's attack on the Praxeum and it's the last time Leia sees her brother. I was so emotionally wiped by it I couldn't even think about writing for two weeks hahaha

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my fics have happy endings, or at least hopeful ones.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

If I do nobody has ever told me.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! I'm not sure what "what kind" means.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I've written exactly one, the Will Graham/Aziraphale one (I swear it makes sense in context). ngl it's pretty weird. Plenty of AUs set in different universes though!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I have. Somebody plagiarized "but you laughed baby" beat for beat. When I confronted them about it they said they must have subconsciously regurgitated it. Binch, I had to reread my own fic to compare, don't give me that shit. (They deleted their entire account afterwards. I'm not sad.)

12. What's the longest you've spent working on one fic? And the shortest?

Shortest is drabbles, and those take anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Longest? I still have a Mass Effect fic that I've been picking at on and off since 2012. I should just finish it up.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have not.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

I refuse to pick.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The Good Omens While You Were Sleeping AU is my only actual posted WIP. There are Reasons I tend not to post unfinished stuff.

I'm really good at nailing character voices and dialogue. I think I'm decent at striking a balance between pretty language and making sure it still moves things along. I have been told I'm very good at intimate character interaction.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Unless you're going for the half-remembered vocabulary because diaspora kid vibe (which I did in my Shang-Chi fic), get somebody fluent to translate for you. The amount of horrific Spanish I've seen in OFMD fic is... not good.

X2! I thought I was very clever making puns on "le petit mort" in a Rogue fic

I have a series! I love the extremely weird ones I wrote just for myself that nobody else seems to like, although the Ed/Blackbeard/Stede one is an exception.

a short list of historical figures who were queer: because I need people to understand that queer people have always been here.

with sources, because I am, after all, a historian.

Most of these figures are musicans, it is because I am studying to be a historical musicologist (basically a music historian).

Leonard Berenstein– (1918-1990) Composer, conductor, musician. Known for his musical West Side Story. Most likely a gay man, perhaps bisexual. While there are plenty of letters and first hand confirmations that exist, this Guardian article conveys the information well enough.

Pytor Illich Tchaikovsky– (1840-1892) Russian composer, best known for his ballets: Swan Lake, and the Nutcracker, as well as his 1812 Overture, which features canon fire (and has become a meme on Tumblr). A gay man, as confirmed by multiple historians that have dedicated their life to his research, and by me, who spent a few weeks translating letters that talk about his love for men and his fear of what that would do to his life. This article talks about John Wiley (a historian) had to say about it.

Benjamin Britten– (1913-1976) Known for his vocal compositions, if you are an english classically trained vocalist you know Britten's compositions. Known especially for his War Requiem and his opera Peter Grimes. He and fellow musician Peter Pears had a long lived relationship. This article speaks about it more.

Ethel Smyth– (1857-1944) A lifelong disrupter, demanded (rightly so) for people to listen to her music in a time where women were not given the space to compose. A lesbian who fought for the right for women to perform and be a part of orchestras and conductor her own works when women conducters were few and far between. This article, written by a woman, speaks on her life well.

Francis Poulenc– (1899-1963) A Parisian man with a marked love of mostly men, but did father one daughter and dedicated a few compositions to her mother. This article speaks well on his love.

Alan Turing– (1912-1954) A gay icon of mine, Turing was a British Mathmetician and codebreaker who you have to thank for your phone and for the earlier end of the second World War. This article speaks about his life, as well as the film Imitation Game (2014) discusses it to some extent.

Freddie Mercury–(1946-1991) The beloved lead singer of the band Queen was a notourious queer icon, who had many love affairs with men but did say that he loved one woman when he was younger, for this reason, I will not say whether he was bisexual or gay. But a queer icon nonetheless. This article discusses the topic.

David Bowie– (1947-2016) A performer I have always loved and dearly miss, who is known for his bisexuality and fantastic outfits. This Billboard article discusses his sexuality. But it is important to note, that he came out as gay first, and then bisexual, which does not mean he was changing his mind or wanting to conform, but instead was becoming more comfortable with his own sexuality as he aged, something that should be a more generally accepted thing.

Leonardo da Vinci– (1452-1519) While there are guesses about this mans sexuality, it is generally believed and agreed upon that he was at least queer. While more research must be done, this article speaks on the subject well enough.

There are plenty more that I could talk about and that I want to talk about but that would take so long.

The most important thing: Queer people have always been here, and they are amazing and beautiful and deserved so much better than what history gave them.

Fic title: Non-compliant Weapon (Rexobi, Murderbot AU)

(regarding this fic title meme prompt)

Ok, there’s two ways this could go. One, the slightly more predictable path of some flavor of reincarnation AU where the Jedi Organization (some kind of meddling well-intentioned doctors-without-borders type group) has gotten neck deep into several volatile disputes and need help, so they’ve gotten a generous donation of sec-units from, I dunno, Palpatine Industries (Insidious Industries is more fun, but a little too on the nose). Of course, these sec-units come with pre-programmed sabotage routines up to and including Order 66, and of course sec-unit Rex manages to wriggle around those.

The more interesting idea I had was a bit...messier.

The plunnie starts with the notion that for a full three hot seconds, some megacorp in the galaxy decided that clones were the next big thing and just mass-produced a whole bunch of them. There was enough outcry that the project was scrapped, the company went broke, and the clones were shoved in cryostorage to become someone else’s problem when all the lawsuits were done. Shortly thereafter, sec-units became a thing because that skirted some all the nasty ethical issues.

Decades if not centuries later (...I have no idea when the Murderbot books are supposed to be other than The Future), whatever megacorp bought up various assets discovers they have a bunch of illegal product sitting around frozen in a warehouse. It turns out that the cheapest method of disposal is actually to thaw them and toss them a small agro planet to colonize (the potential fallout if they just space the clones or keep them in a basement somewhere is just too high for profit margins, much to the relief of everyone else).

And that’s how Rex and his brothers end up thawed, with some nice genetic repair work, on a brand new planet all their own, and no idea wtf to do now since they aren’t expected to just fight something. Since Rex is one of the more restless clones, he ends up doing resource management, taking surplus out for trade and scrounging interesting stuff to bring back. And one day he walks into some space!army surplus store to discover in the back there’s an old sec-unit and its cubicle. Rex starts off feeling weird but wildly sympathetic to this deactivated fighting unit, only to become REALLY creeped out when he asks in passing about it – and learns its being kept around for eventual spare parts.

Rex is not okay with this. He dithers a bit, but ends up purchasing the whole unit and brings it home.

Cody gives him a bit of hell, but he gets where Rex was coming from, so he sort of resignedly welcomes their new sec-unit: [some clever punning/l337 speak version of Obi-Wan Kenobi].

So it turns out that this sec-unit is defective. It’s good at fighting, but it doesn’t like to fight. It talks. It talks a LOT. It’s astonishingly good at negotiating.

It also flirts with everyone except for Rex, which Rex is absolutely not put out about in the least. Really. He’s not irked. It’s a good thing. This damn thing comes out of the box flirting, that’s disconcerting so it’s kinda nice that Rex doesn’t have to put up with that – especially since it’s quickly decided that since the sec-unit does talk anything in circles, it’s most useful going with him to help him barter. And hopefully keep him out of trouble, though Cody is the only one to say that, the bastard.

Since this is a Murderbot AU, that means it turns out that there’s actually something Very Valuable on the clones’ new homeplanet, and at some point they’re actively defending themselves and/or having to diplomat with hostile bodies who are Not Impressed that a sec-unit is one of the main negotiators.

(It helps when things go pear-shaped, of course, since said main negotiator can dish out and take some extreme damage. So that's not too different from canon.)

Things finally settle down, Rex and Obi-Wan return to venturing out on the regular, until one day – probably after some spectacularly vicious flirtation with someone trying to kill them – Rex just blurts out, “I have never been able to figure it out. You will flirt with anyone and anything, the more hostile the better.”

“It’s a wonderful distraction tactic.”

“Oh, I’m aware. You specifically pick out pet names to enrage people.”

“It’s hardly my fault the Duchess didn’t like to be addressed as ‘my dear’!”

“It kind of is, but…” Rex hesitates, then shrugs, still not looking at Kenobi. “You have never once flirted with me.”

Silence. Rex sneaks a few glances, and Obi-Wan is refusing to look back at him. Finally, when it’s clear Rex will play the waiting game, Obi-Wan just shrugs right back. “I don’t know how to do it sincerely. Flirt for real with someone I like.”

Rex goes through several stages of oh with embarrassing speed. He twists around to stare. “What – but – even from the very beginning?”

Obi-Wan continues to not look at him. “I might have been...less unaware than my prior owner believed.”

Rex blanches, well recalling his own long time in stasis – a cold, mostly dreamless state of unconsciousness. The notion of being even somewhat lucid across those long decades is nightmare fuel even before considering the indifferent way the guy at the store had talked about spare parts in a box.

Then there are super-awkward cuddles, eventually leading to some kind of queer platonic aro and/or ace ship happily ever after. ^_^

Personality: I am an INTJ Slytherclaw, Aquarius and a Type 6 when it comes to anagrams. I am a huge overthinker and stress a lot with anxiety. People tell me that I can be blunt which results in people thinking that I can be cold but in reality I try to be a kind person when it is needed. My face is round and my eye shape is almond. I am approximately 5’3. Two small moles are fixated on my right cheek and underneath my lip. My clothing style tends to be anything comfortable and classy. I prefer to wear black and colours that are darker, you will never find me wearing orange or neon colours. My clothing always consists of a dress of some sort.

I. Phone ~ Perpetually at 6-15% battery yet never actually runs out of power. She has the standard apps on it, plus ones she uses for work reference: NDR, PDR, CCN, Epocrates Essentials, Medscape, Pedi-Stat, and so on. Beth does have an Instagram account but rarely uses it. She also has a YouTube channel where she doles out advice on occasion. She isn't fond of social media. She does, however, enjoy having portable music. Her Hanai-Sister Jay is her ICE contact, and the first number on speed dial. The next 7 numbers are various take out places with delivery options.

II. Bone athame ~ This is probably Beth's most important item, one she never forgoes. Over eight inches in length, carved with sigils and symbols of her craft, this is her most unique foci, and also her most personal as it is made from her own bone, stained with her own blood. It was created during her initiation into her tradition with all the seriousness one can imagine. The ordeal was gruelling and is not something she really talks about. Typically if someone sees it, either their circumstances are dire or they've made a very final mistake. If Beth can't wear it openly or tuck it into her bag, she does have a space for it that isn't for the squeamish. Best not to ask questions.

III. A full advanced trauma and surgical kit ~ literally everything she would need to preform surgery in the most inconvenient place possible. And while the kit might actually weigh a full third or so of her body weight, there's still a coincidental effect overhanging it. She received it as a gift from her Hanai-Sister. Beth keeps everything fully stocked with fresh supplies.

IV. Leatherman Raptor ~ Sometimes you need the right tool and quickly. Can't waste time searching through your bag. Which is where the raptor comes in handy for Beth. The multi-tool combines stainless steel folding medical shears, a strap cutter, a ring cutter, a ruler, an oxygen tank wrench, and a carbide glass breaker, for mobile/crash emergencies. V. Her brother's zippo/matches ~ For reasons, sometimes a girl needs fire. VI. Coffee ~ Not exactly carried in her bag, Beth typically is never seen out of her house without roughly 30 ounces of Kona coffee, often time a quad shot vanilla coconut milk or soy latte.

VII. Snacks ~ nuts, seeds, granola, shelf-stable applesauce or pudding, maybe pop-tarts or whatever small and quick thing she can get her hands on. Great for a quick boost to one's blood sugar, and often time the only meal she can manage to get in a typical day.

VIII. Burt's Bees Lip Balm ~ Beth keeps two tubes of it with her all the times, a coconut & pear clear balm, and a tinted lip balm usually hibiscus or red dahlia shares.

IX. A novel or two ~ whatever book Beth is reading at the time. She prefers actual books with pages. She has no preference between paper or hard back.

X. A spare pair of slippahs ~ You never know when you're going to have a flip-flop incident, so it's better to be prepared just in case.

XI. A few travel sized toiletries ~ clean pair of underwear {or bikini bottoms}, toothbrush and paste, hair brush, deodorant. Shampoo and conditioner, moisturiser, soap, lotion, her favourite essential oil perfume, dental floss. XII. Wallet ~ ID, credit cards, debit card, somewhere in the neighbourhood of one hundred dollars in various paper money, half used subway passes, upwards of four half used loyalty cards for Jay's coffee shop, spare car key, spare house key. And three non-slip, tangle free hair elastics {rubber bands}. XIV. Almost comically oversized sunglasses ~ {which can, if need be, slip over her regular reading glasses. Beth does not like contacts. XV. Her work keys/hospital credentials. Because she works. And stuff.

First thing I think when my brain goes "It's Grima Wormtongue Time! (tm)": Snake man. Damp. Seidr. ¿Gender?

From there it usually goes to whatever thing it is that I'm working on - so if I'm thinking through, for example, marriage and courting rituals of Rohan and how they might look depending on class/gender/end-result (i.e., marriage or lover or side piece etc.) then my brain will do Grima Time (tm) and the first thing will be: how does it work with him and in what ways does he do it slightly sideways?

Everything about Grima is a little pear-shaped, at the end of the day.

13. Your favorite friendship they have

In canon? Grima’s friendship with his own sarcasm. Poor man doesn’t have friends—or none that we are shown, I should say.

In head-canon? Well, in Swimming Through Fire, Grima and Legolas’ friendship is the best thing that happened outside of my accidental creation of Downey’s friend Willis.

I’ve given him a bit of a right-hand guy in What Makes a Kynge (i.e., Team Up and Scheme fic). His name is Eadric and he’s got the world’s meanest daughter and I love her. Anyway, Eadric and Grima are quasi-friends. They’re as close to friend as Grima can get in a world where he’s not been forced to do work on changing himself (YET. He has some revelations, they just happen in different fashions).

20. A weird headcanon

I’m not sure I have a weird head-canon for him. What constitutes weird? I suppose, I head-canon that post-war, when Eomer needs to do something with him that uses his skillset but obviously he can’t hold his former position, he ends up being like a brew-master.

BECAUSE. Brewing is associated with magic/sorcery due to its transformative nature (the art of brewing itself, also alcohol as a transformative substance has a longstanding history), and Grima spent large whacks of his childhood avoiding his brothers and so spent it in the kitchen or the weaving room (g E n D e R t H i N g S) and learned how to brew from his mother.

Aside from brewing, though, he ends up inventing forensic science because there’s a few weird deaths that are sus and Grima is like “what if we cut open the body and looked inside?” and people were like “you’re a sick freak, we always knew that, but wow next level.” Eomer though is like, “wait. Let the man speak.” So Grima gets to do some slicing and poking around and being like “oh so that’s what a human liver looks like. I’ve only ever seen various animal ones.”

Anyway, mostly he’s like the weird brewer and sells dubious herbs and Eomer doesn’t ask him for advice from time to time but Eomer totally asks him for advice from time to time.

21. When do you think they were at their happiest?

I don’t know if Grima can ever allow himself to be fully happy. I really don’t think he has it in him, which is sad and also yikes my dude, get help.

But the closes he’s been to happy? I think early days in Theoden’s court when it looked like there was a whole big world to play for and Grima was new, young, less jaded, not bitter or resentful yet, and just looking at all these possibilities before him. It would have been exciting, thrilling, also lots of challenges and he’d be learning so much and loving it.

Post war? I hope he finds something like contentment. Or as close to it as he can get, being who he is. His weird, new position might be interesting enough for him that he’d like it. Brewing means you do a lot of socializing, but it also means you get a lot of secrets from people and he is a small dragon who loves to hoard things so he collects everyone’s secrets and keeps them in his pocket.

Day to day? I suspect he’s most content/adjacent to happy when listening to stories or songs and histories. He’s also happy when riddling or doing the many and varied word games that they would have had to pass the time. He would be always happy to initiate people into whatever their version of Green Glass Door is. If there’s some problem or puzzle to solve or something to tinker with, he likely is happy doing that.

(Granted, a lot of late antiquity and early medieval ale did. He's hardly alone in that. And it did serve a ritual purpose alongside the just having fun aspect of it.)

A bit late, but in November 2023 I went to Dutch Comic Con's winter edition and holy shit what a trip.

I will just summarize the whole weekend... I fucking met Elijah Wood. Holy fucking shit. Just writing this already brings me to tears.

On the first day I was dressed with mostly hobbity vibes, no real cosplay... and then on the second day as Mimi from Digimon again.

I never actually got to properly talk to anyone about my Comic Con experience, because my computer broke a little while after and it destroyed me emotionally and financially. Does not take away how special this weekend was for me though.

All weekend the Starbucks wrote my name wrong, except for one time when I went to a different one. I've been Min, Milou, Niemke...

Day one. CHAOS ENSUED. I left super early to make sure I was on-time. The schedule was clear: visit the Q&A, go straight to the hella expensive photobooth, and then finally go shopping.

And so I did! I could do a little bit of shipping in the artist alley in advance, his Q&A started at 11 am and I entered at 10 am (opening time). It was actually weird to be at opening time as I never am. The Q&A was very fun, but sadly I forgot a lot of details since my memory is awfully poor and I did not take notes, and on top of that I had to leave midway to go to the photo booth because Comic Con loves putting photo sessions right after Q&As.

Literally missed half of it to queue in advance. I did meet a very lovely lady in the queue though, dressed as Arwen, she was a teacher in science or something like that. We chatted a lot and we are mutuals on Instagram now. Absolutely adored her. The photo turned out HELLA awkward and I never have the courage to ask for a re-shot despite paying BIG money to get a photo taken, I really hate myself for this, but if I imagine my arm away it's okay.

I also hate how I insisted on wearing this flower crown when I should have known the background was going to be blue. Do I look nervous?I was!

After that I went on with my shopping. And look... THE RETURN OF THE ONIGIRI STAND! Fucking love these rice balls.

Glorious rice balls filled with tuna, with a small wrapping of dried seaweed... yum yum!

I also will showcase of course the merchandise I purchased.

A Digimon TCG gift box with a special Angewomon token, another bottle of mead like this time... again, they did not have cherry cinnamon, so this time my copium was pear cinnamon. A mini Kazuha bodypillow cuz I thought it was funny and they used his NORMAL art, not some weird spicy stuff... a bunch of buttons (the bottom left is a gift for a friend, the others are my new favourite Genshin Impact character, Lyney), a bag that has Lyney's constellation on it WHICH GLOWS IN THE DARK, two key chains also related to Lyney.

And because I still felt a little frustrated about my photo with Elijah, I could not resist buying a selfie with him as well. Also super expensive, and a bit awkward as he stayed on his side of the table, but... I love the photo so much.

I told him... gosh I am sOBBING. I told him I wanted to come as Wilfred (which btw, on day 2 I actually found a Wilfred cosplay, IT WAS SO COOL and he told me I was the ONLY one who recognized him).

So I told Elijah I wanted to go as Wilfred instead, but alas... and you know what he told me????

"Well, you look beautiful."

I'm..................... in tears. I can't believe how someone who is technically a stranger can impact me so much. I am actually proper crying just writing about this now. Elijah fucking Wood said I look beautiful. Let's... let's move to day two.

Day two. So on this day I was again making my way to Elijah Wood's Q&A again at 11 am, and this time I took notes! Which is great as someone with potential aphantasia.

Some notes are...

We touched upon the subject of Daniel Radcliffe and him being a bit of a meme, so he told another story on it. He was in an elevator with someone and he could see this person was building up the courage to say something. He was thinking really hard, and when the elevator opened, he yelled "Harry Potter!" to which Elijah Wood REALLY comedically replied "NO!" and it was SO funny the way he landed his story.

He also mentioned that usually when he is misunderstood for another actor, he kinda lets it slip. He does not want to break their dream. He will only say it if they specifically ask him "are you [name]?" but otherwise he goes with the flow. This has also caused him trouble though, lol.

He ended up deep in conversation with an older woman, I think in a shop. She would be like "hey I saw you on a talk show yesterday" and Elijah was basically thinking: "I was not on one yesterday, but reruns happen all the time, it must've been that" so he went on with it. However, the more she continued, the more he realized it was not actually about him, as the woman went on about how she could relate about his feelings on thanksgiving as a vegan. That is when Elijah realized that it was not about him, it was about Tobey Maguire. He was already in so deep though, he just kind-of laughed it off and hoped the conversation would just end as soon as possible. He did not want to ruin this woman's day of course, but luckily she did end the conversation soon after that, he was so relieved. He just thought it was unique he was mistaken for Tobey Maguire in this instance.

Also very important, he said STROOPwafel correctly, he said the double o in the Dutch way instead of the butchered English way. Bless him.

He also talked so much about his experience with Jim Carrey, loved hearing him talk about him. Basically confirmed Jim is a cool and funny dude.

AND OF COURSE! A fan in the audience: "I have a question. It is very important and can be career changing. [pause]. Will you wear wigs?" - EVERYONE fucking died at the spot. The way it was landed. Fucking fantastic. Bless than fan for bringing it up. It led to Elijah telling about that his wife had not seen this "interview" until recently. He went like "...babe..." in such a tone, it was fantastic.

Brainpower was his Q&A interviewer, he is really talented, love that he also brings up less popular roles. He brought many GOOD questions and notes, a lot about his acting career, but I did not take many notes on it, but we did get a fun fact about what could have been in Dirk Gently season 3. There was going to be an invisible entity that would've basically been there the whole time and there would have been interesting quarrels between Todd and his sister. Man...

Overall... Elijah Wood was a very pleasant man to listen to. He is very calm, he has a sincere kindness to him that I cannot explain. You can tell he has been in the acting business for so long, been doing Comic Con gigs for so long, he was radiating. His eyes just expressed so much friendliness. Comfort. It is odd to describe, and actually kind-of funny considering how much of a horror fan he is, that he is suck a kind and comforting person.

Alright. That was the Q&A. What I noticed during the Q&A was that he had a different look about him though; he had shaved. This triggered my FOMO and purchased ANOTHER expensive photo with the man.

In this photo I am about to post... you may not see it... is a very happy woman. In the queue I was building up an incredible amount of courage; I would regret it if I did not try it... I... I went in to ask for a hug.

"Can I ask a question?" ("yeah") "You can say no, but can I have a hobbit hug?" (not exact quotes, a rough memory of how it went)

And... I actually got to hug Elijah Wood. ;_; I got to receive the realest of hobbit hugs. I was too nervous to properly live in the moment, but it was a blessing. I am proud that I asked, that I had the courage, I would have really regretted it if I did not, and I'm just - ;_;

The photo was after the hug though.

And gosh look at his face, he looks so precious and happy. I did take off my hat from the cosplay to take the photo as you can see. I'm so happy I took the opportunity and took another photo, that I dared ask him for that hug, and I am grateful for his kindness.

That is enough about him... I have more merch to show.

This is a BEAUTIFUL postcard I bought for my bestie Jamaine. It is an astral-looking cat, and I thought it was perfect for her.

I also took a photo of merch I really wanted, but could not afford anymore.

The image does not do it justice though, it was printed on metal and the shimmer made it GORGEOUS. There was also one with Mew and Mewtwo where it looked gorgeous because of the moon shimmering.

But lastly merch that I DID buy, including another gift for friends.

On the left a bath bomb shaped like a d20 with an actual dice set inside. Next to that three buttons, one of Lyney, two D&D buttons (bard/warlock) and a gift button in the glowing bag that made me laugh. The plush on the right was a gift for my bestie Jamaine because it reminded me of her cat, they both look like actual void. The nerds candy string was actually a gift from an old friend from college, she worked at an American & Japanese candy stand.

I also took a bath today with this bath bomb, so it was destiny I would make my Comic Con post today. These were the dice inside:

I love them! I was so excited when I saw them haha. These are now my cleanest dice ever, HAHA!

I also wanted to quickly post this last pic of me meeting my internet-friend June. We had never met IRL yet and I have no idea who she is cosplaying, but still!

I was not entirely prepared for the photo haha, I am still wearing my bag, holding my phone etc... but it is what it is hahaha.

I also had onigiri again, and they finally wrote my name right in the other Starbucks than the last three times I went (I spent a lot of money on these toffee nut lattes).

I went for Mimi because of my cosplay instead of Miri, and besides spelling it right, THEY EVEN ADDED A SMILEY. Bless 'em.

So yeah, that is a summary of possibly the best weekend of my life.

Hoooo boy do I have opinions about this guy 😂

How I feel about this character: My first love, the first videogame character I ever got truly attached to, and the focus of many a thought since I first heard him being snarky with that mage at Ostagar. On the surface his character conforms to a lot of fantasy clichés, but pay a bit more attention and there are so many compelling layers to unwrap. He has flaws but he's also so earnest and emotionally intelligent, I'd never met a male character like him before.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: I'm a fan of any Alistair x Warden ship, though Cousland and Amell/Surana have some of the best material to play with thematically. I've also seen Alistair x Bethany done well, and Alistair x Inquisitor - basically he's great to ship with anyone who makes him contront being raised by the Chantry or being turned into a political figure against his will.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Honestly, I like Alistair and Leliana. To me there's a sibling dynamic there that's good for both of them.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Not to poke the bear, but Word Of God from David Gaider is not enough to convince me his mother was anything other than a serving girl in Redcliffe Castle, when a) the weight of canonical evidence in the games and the secondary material points towards it b) the series of contrivances and coincidences required for his mother to be anything but a serving girl in Redcliffe Castle strains credulity c) his story arc and character growth heavily rely on his thoughts about his origins and wrestling with the idea of unquestioned hereditary power when it creates situations like the one he fears his mother found herself in and d) the writers never did anything in the games - the primary canon - to explore any alternatives or consequences for him if his mother wasn't a serving girl in Redcliffe Castle.

Obligatory Alistair Opinion Disclaimer: The above opinion does not preclude the possibility of Alistair being biracial, half-elven, or anything else, nor is this an attempt to impose the above opinion on others who do not care for it.

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: I really wish hardening him had taken more than one conversation on his personal quest, maybe a second approval-esque mechanic that hardened him gradually depending on what dialogue options the player can choose during big decisions like whether to kill Connor/Isolde, or who to put on Orzammar's throne. It would have felt more natural than just telling him "tough titties" when his sister ends up not liking him.

My OTP: My OTP for him is unsurprisingly Rosslyn Cousland. I've talked about their relationship before, but I love the ways they complement and strengthen each other, and learn how to grow together even in universes where they get off to a rocky start

My crossover ship: I've never really thought about this tbh, and I haven't come across any DA fic that was specifically a crossover meeting characters from other universes.

A headcanon fact: Poor Alistair is mildly allergic to pears. They make his mouth itch when he eats them, which annoys him because he likes pears.

1. How many works do you have on Ao3?

110 currently.

2. What's your total Ao3 word count?

249,772. Which is a whole heck of a lot more than I ever thought I'd write. (70k of those were in the last year, which is pretty amazing for me when I think about it.)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

At present, primarily Fate the Winx Saga, with a side of House of the Dragon on occasion. I tend to be a serially monogamous fangirl, but right now that seems to have an Eve Best asterisk. A number of others previously, most recently BBC's Musketeers.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Never and Always (Musketeers, post-S2 Milathos-centric canon-divergence AU, also the longest thing I've written for posting ... or possibly ever?)

I try to! I'm consistently pretty far behind, but I like to try to show appreciation for the people who take the time to comment. (Whether I do or not, commenters are a gift and I love you all.)

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh dear god. Considering my predilections, I'm not even sure what would win -- considering I've used the angst tag 26 times, there are definitely a few contenders (and in hindsight, there's things without that tag which could count). I think I'd probably put it as a toss-up between let's pretend i'm a man (because in my head it does not end well) and that thunder in your lungs (despite the tag I wrote later). (Despite the death count, I would not give it to who shall i say is calling?, mostly because canon?)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably gonna give that to the fading year. Is this in large part because of @anne-in-dreamland's ridiculously soft and gorgeous art for that last scene? Entirely possible. 💙

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Rarely. I feel like I write niche enough fandoms that it's not commonplace, at least. The occasional ones I've gotten have felt more bewildered than really hateful. (Hate commenting is bad, people. Do something better with your time.)

9. Do you write smut?

I didn't for the longest time, but was convinced to try in my last fandom and found I actually enjoy the challenge -- though I have to be in the right frame of mind and it has to fit what I'm writing. There's a puzzle to both the headspaces and the words, and I like trying to figure that out.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Also rarely. I have a couple that made it to AO3, and both were with the Sandman comics, which lend themselves well to that.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of, which hopefully means never.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Again, not that I'm aware of -- I don't mind the idea but find the idea of it being done without explicit permission to be unaccptable. (I've had one fic podficced, which was such a flattering request.)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Only one, for the March Madness challenge on the Winxsource server ... and I don't know if I'd call that co-writing given the blind activity and the crack. The two collaborations I have posted were for RBB, with some wonderful artist partners.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I refuse to choose. All of my idiot children are precious emotinally-constipated morons.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Oof. The easy answer would be Between Midnight and Dawn; the framework is all sketched out, but thanks to the circumstances I hit such egregious writer's block on it that I don't think I'll ever be able to go back and finish it. This makes me sad, because I've got some parts of future scenes written out that I love, and I very much liked the concept and that (entirely unplanned) AU and how it took on a life of its own, and the fandom was so lovely and supportive, but ... alas, no. On an unposted front, I'm beginning to realise I will probably never actually write the House of the Dragon AU where Rhaenys and Meleys limp home after Rook's Rest and everything changes as a result. Intentions good, but the distractions are infinite, and right now they show no sign of flagging.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like to think that I handle emotional beats and introspection fairly well, and I enjoy playing with word choice and sentence structure -- which people respond to positively, so let's go with that.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action, my behated. Extended dialogue, my equally behated. Plot, my kryptonite. And yet. (If you know, you know.)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Depends on the length of it, whether translation is necessary (or the requisite understanding can be inferred), and how it fits. It has its place, but it has to be handled carefully or it can really be unpleasantly jarring.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Star Trek (TNG, mostly). In pencil, on notebook paper, starting in my preteen years, and lost to the ages ... which is probably for the best.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Once again, I refuse to choose, because I'm certain that once I do I'll think of another one I love. Each and every thing I've written has had a purpose: to get something out of my brain, to explore an idea, to push myself to grow as a writer ... As long as I got something out of it, and hopefully someone (or someones, even better!) enjoyed it, that's good enough for me.

3. Do you time travel?

Very rarely! I've mainly time traveled backwards instead of forward, usually if I forgot about a villager's birthday (or my own birthday once!) or if there was an event I didn't have time to do because I was otherwise busy. Otherwise, I prefer to play as real time as possible.

4. Does your island have a specific theme or aesthetic? If so, what?

Not really, I have almost zero patience for building a full aesthetic, although I absolutely love how others build theirs! If anything, my island's theme is boring but relaxing cul-de-sac 😄

7. Any hated villagers?

Ooooooo great question! I don't know that I really hate any of the villagers but Jambette and Anacotti come to mind when I think of villagers whose aesthetics I DO NOT like at all.

Cherries are native to my island! My sister fruit is pears!

I finished some christmas presents I was working on, so my brain wanted to draw something I've been really want to... So hey! It's Pear! He's finally here!

He's still a relatively new oc so I'll probably throw a ask meme at some point but feel free to ask whatever. He's a work in progress for now, though!

some info I've thought about him below:

General backstory

Prickly Pear Huerte, most commonly referred to as Pear by friends and family, was born to Sitrus Huerte and Ocotillo Cactus Huerte. He was an oops child (although he was still loved dearly) which made him quite a bit younger than his older brothers: Passho and Saguaro.

Despite his age gap with his siblings, Pear had 2nd cousins on his father's side that were close to his age, Pecha and Rawst, and since they were being raised by their grandparents the three felt closer than distant cousins usually are. Many of their summers were spent together.

When Pear was fourteen, he was excited to find that his cousins would be coming to go to school at Naranja-Uva Academy with him. The three became even closer during this time.

Around the time Pear graduated, his grandmother, Babiri, began getting sick. Due to her increasing age and arthritis, it became much too difficult for her to take care of herself. Being the youngest and not really having much of a job other than the family business, Pear stepped up and took most of the caretaking work for his nanita himself.

One of Eclair's babies that Pear held back. She's wild and free, listening to no one else other than her mama or Pear.

Miscellaneous

Pear accidentally comes off flirty to many people because he likes to compliment a lot. He just feels like if someone is pretty, he should just tell them. Plus he likes their smiles when he does.

He likes to talk to and about plants like they're people. Often names the trees in the berry orchard.

Isn't as bashful with love as his cousins, but he is a bit busy to actively pursue romance. If he's asked on a date he'll accept, however, with a broad smile.

rin has a very sweet outwards disposition and often ries her best to remain patient and always help where she can but sometimes she does get exhuasted of tired. she loves her occupation but sometimes those she cares for can be difficult and she will sometimes have to put her foot down in order for them to receive care from her.

🍏 [GREEN APPLE] How do they differ from the norm and how are they punished for it?

she differs from a lot of the people on the planet in that she is genuinely kind-hearted and has no ill will. some people see this as her faking her kindness and sometimes people see her as a 'goody two shoes' and thus may remark snidely to her about it. she is also exceptionally smart, sporting many degrees and phds, so some might think her to be a 'smart ass' sometimes.

🍎 [RED APPLE] Who does your OC value above all else?

rin values her co-pilot for her helicopter. without him and his help, she wouldn't be able to do her job as smoothly. unfortunately i haven't named him yet, but she values him greatly as a friend!

🍌 [BANANA] Have parts of your OC been lost to time (in-universe)? What do they wish they could lose from themselves?

rin used to be a very skilled baseball player and was a star on her team. though she enjoyed playing it, her true passion was working in the medical field. she often can't find the time to participate in games anymore but does miss it sometimes....

🍐 [PEAR] What is their current social standing? If they could change it, would they, and to what?

rin's current social standing is that she is rather respected for her healthcare expertise! though she does wish others got to know her better and she was better recognized for who she is and what she can bring to the world as well. she would also like to be more assertive and sometimes struggles to stand up for herself at times. she tries her very best though.

🍅 [TOMATO] How misunderstood is your OC? In-universe or IRL.

i would say rin is somewhat misunderstood. going back to the green apple one above, she is seen as faking her kindness and a goody two shoes. since a lot of those on the planet are antagonistic, people might think her to be just like them. but rin is always hoping to make a positive impact and help others to be better too by always spreading kindness.
