How to Meditate

1. Set a timer (most cell phones have these). I suggest 5 minutes for a true newbie, 10-15 for a beginner, 20-30 for people who are looking to really give it a go. Feel free to start at whatever time and work your way up.

2. Sit in a comfortable place. I usually sit cross-legged in a chair that has a back for me to recline against.

3. Close your eyes. Hold your hands in a natural manner. I hold my right fist in my left palm loosely in my lap. Breathe.

4. I focus my gaze gently on the space in between my eyebrows. This gives my eyes a comfortable place to rest so that they aren’t wandering behind my eyelids. Try to find a natural spot to focus your eyes, possibly between the eyebrows or on the forehead.

5. Thoughts and feelings will come. Observe them without thinking about them. Don’t analyze your thoughts/feelings and don’t try to push them away. Experience them and let them go. You hold onto things by thinking about them.

6. Sometimes you will get lost in thought and forget that you are meditating. That happens. When it does, bring your attention back to the present moment. Breathe in, breathe out. Center yourself and begin simply observing again. Don’t create more waves by getting frustrated or trying to judge your meditation’s quality.

7. When your timer goes off, don’t get up right away. Open your eyes and turn off the annoying alarm. Continue to be relaxed and observe your surroundings. Look around, breathe, move slowly. Then get up. The more you take your time when transitioning out of meditation, the more the effects persist into your normal day.

Things to keep in mind:

Meditation will result in feeling peaceful and calm. But feeling peaceful and calm is not the sign of a good meditation. When you sit to meditate, you begin at the beginning. You are filled with karmas that are mental opinions and judgements you hold without realizing it. As you meditate, those karmas leave you.

Sometimes there will be a pause in the constant noise of your mental karmas, then you will experience peace and stillness. This happens during some meditations and it is wonderful. Other meditations may be fraught with distraction and worry and pain. These meditations are no less valuable to your progress. Think of meditation as therapy sessions with God. Painful or peaceful, progress is being made.

Also remember, you are not striving to attain anything in meditation. In meditation, you are returning to your Self, your original nature. That isn’t something you can attain through force but rather realize by relaxing.

Stay sharp, stay aware, stay in the moment, and be the observer of your human body and everything that comes with it (thought, emotion, feeling).

Daily meditation creates a snowball effect. The more your meditate, the better. But some meditation is always better than no meditation. Don’t let meditation become a chore. It is the only thing worth doing in your day but at the same time it never needs to become a source of guilt or hardship.

I hope this helped to make some things clear and opened the doorway to the divine flowering of the Self.

the prominent themes of vampirism such as desire, hunger, mystery and illusions tie so perfectly with the moon and its nodes. it wasn't surprising to find the nodes dominating this genre the most, along with the luminaries (moon & sun nakshatras, but more fittingly the moon). i will not be touching on the few sun nakshatras playing vampires, as the moon makes far more sense symbolizing true vampiric nature.

So many vampire movie posters have this luminous glow to them, likely done consciously because of these creatures' affinity for nighttime, and generally being nocturnal as they're extremely sensitive to any type of sunlight.

I've once briefly mentioned, in my "Moon Dominant Themes" post, that lunar natives can operate very secretly, such as 'working in the shadows'. And the whole lore of vampires always emphasizes their ability to hide themselves while still living among humans.

Vampires undergoing periods of dormancy and resurgence is interesting as that can also be linked back to the moon's cycles of waxing & maning. The influence that the moon has on vampires, in some legends, is during certain lunar phases in which they become more active. A full moon could literally mean that their strength has enhanced, whilst a moonless night could mean their desire for blood is heightened.

Claire Nakti explored, in her "TOP 3 Most Magical & Mystical Astrology Signs | Cults, Divination, & Occultism | Part 2 (Nakshatras)" documentary, on the ability of Moon nakshatra natives to brainwash/mind control/hypnotize.

As these natives are often cult leaders, their ability to influence the mind goes back to their lunar-rulership. The Moon rules over the mind, emotions and subconscious. A vampire's ability to hypnotize humans and other lesser beings is in parallel to the Moon's influence over the psyche and subconscious.

This illusory nature found in vampires can be connected to the shadow planet, Rahu. As Rahu is illusions, desire, hunger. Rahu is very seductive and tempting; this could tie back to some legends in which vampires lure their prey giving them promises of pleasure.

Ardra Sun Tom Cruise.

In "Interview with the Vampire", Tom Cruise plays Lestat who is an overindulgent, greedy vampire. Rahu governs desires and the pursuit of worldly pleasures. It's related to insatiable cravings that lead to greed. The lustful nature of Rahu is seen in Lestat's intense bloodlust and the chaos it brings.

Rahu's associations with eclipses relates to their ability of being hidden in the shadows. Another hint is in Rahu being a Shadow planet itself, just like Ketu is which is also related to vampires.

The story about Rahu's head getting decapitated by Vishnu for trying to get a drink out of the nectar of immortality can be brilliantly paralleled with vampirism. Due to Rahu's consumption of the drop of the nectar, he became the infamous dismembered immortal. His dismemberment a symbol of the detachment from humanity to vampirism.

Rahu is considered an entity of darkness and malevolence, preying upon cosmic forces and defying the natural order of things (such as vampirism which does defy nature itself, ie. the dead becoming undead) in pursuit for immortality. Vampires are literal parasites, and Rahu is also parasitical. Vampires feed on humans without providing any benefit in the ecosystem in return, a one-sided relationship which resembles one between a parasite and its host. Rahu is depicted as insatiable and consuming, feeding and draining one's energy. It creates a cycle of thirsting for more without any fulfillment, a predicament vampires find themselves in.

Ashwini Sun Luke Evans

Rahu and Ketu represent the lunar nodes, respectively depicted as the head and tail of the celestial serpent. Their energetic interaction can be likened to the endless chase between a vampire and a vampire hunter, villain and hero, the friction between unlikely lovers. It's obvious in how Rahu embodies the insatiable hunger for experiences and the craving for fulfillment that it can be the vampiric force in such a dynamic. Like a vampire, Rahu relentlessly pursues its desires, often leading to greed and excess. And then you have Ketu, on the other hand, which embodies detachment, spirituality, and liberation from worldly attachments. It quite literally symbolizes the renunciation of desires and the quest for enlightenment, opposing Rahu's restlessness for more. Ketu is a cutting force, and like a determined vampire hunter, is skilled in tracking down illusions and breaking free from temptations.

Although it sounds like a more fitting interplay between Rahu as the evil force and Ketu as the hunter, it's actually more seen in the other way around.

It is more so that Rahuvians are the vampire hunters, which I found so intriguing; showcasing how Rahu is both the parasitical (illusory), and also the one to be rid of parasites (disillusionment). And I have explored this particular theme in my Rahu post -- how Rahu natives experience a lot of disillusionment from their reality, wanting to cast away the illusions that drain the life force.

The reversal of roles showcases the fluidity of the nodes; their roles almost always expected to reverse, illustrating just how Rahu and Ketu are deeply intertwined with the concept of karma, representing the push-&-pull between cosmic forces of destiny.

More nodal-vampire movies, and other examples in which Rahu & Ketu find themselves on opposite sides of the same spectrum in which they are both vampires, similar to the friction seen between Louis (Ketu) and Lestat (Rahu) in "Interview with the Vampire".

In the film "Fright Night", the one who has to kill the villainous vampire is an Ashwini native. It is also interesting how in "Queen of the Damned" (above, right), the villain is a Magha native who must be stopped by her Mula lover -- both being vampires.

As mentioned in the figure image about the film "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", where a nodal-ruled native is paired up with someone who is lunar-ruled, this is a type of pairing seen a lot in these supernatural stories.

Similarly to "Twilight", as Edward was the one to turn Bella into a vampire, we see the planetary reversal of this in which the lunar-native is the one who turns the nodal-native.

Or the film "Vamps" in which Hasta Sun, Shatabhisha Moon native Alicia Silverstone turns Mula Sun, Magha Moon native Krysten Ritter into a vampire.

It isn't a surprise that the moon and its nodes are related to the extremities of the mind. These energies can cause isolation due to how polarizing they come off in regular society (furthermore validating its relation to vampirism), so they become attracted to one another -- especially the nodal natives to the moon natives, because of how much they feel magnetized by them, and vice versa.

The presence of some Sun nakshatras in vampire stories is present and that could tie to the Sun's influence over the Moon despite the fact that solar symbolisms regarding vampirism don't exist, and vampires are far too sensitive to the Sun so much so that they get sunburn during the full moon where the sun's light reflects (interesting to think about). The whole point of a vampire is to lurk in the shadows or during nighttime, so the strict avoidance of the Sun could make sense in there being solar-natives in vampiric roles. It makes for an interesting contradiction, certainly.

Ketu is the body of the severed demon Rahu following the consumption of the elixir. Much like Rahu, Ketu is also associated to darkness and illusions. But it symbolizes the darker, unseen aspects of reality -- all the hidden forces and energies as I've touched on in my Ketu exploration. Ketu and Rahu are two sides of the same coin, it isn't surprising to see them share many vampiric roles/stories.

Ketu is about spiritual liberation, detachment (in this context, becoming a vampire means a harsh detachment from normality/the old life), transcendence; these existential themes are found in vampirism.

The character Louis in "Interview with the Vampire" played by Mula Sun Brad Pitt describes his existential crisis as a vampire to a Magha Sun human who interviews him.

The enhanced strength, agility, speed, hearing and all these abilities are gained after the painful transformation process, going from human to vampire. This process is seen in the film "Interview with the Vampire", Mula Sun Brad Pitt's character going through excruciating pain when turning. My mind immediately takes me to Claire Nakti's first Mula nakshatra exploration, in which she touched on the interconnection of pain and evolution for access to more powers.

Vampires are caught between worlds, trapped in a liminal space between life & death. Ketu can cause feelings of entrapment. The yearning for release from their eternal existence is a common theme, as Ketu wants to escape its body. Louis de Pointe du Lac is the best character as example of rejecting one's own nature and wanting to cease to exist.

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN - SHARED BURDENS AND UNEXPECTED ALLIANCES.

The air around you feels charged, crackling with a palpable tension, thick and electric as though the cosmos itself is waiting for answers. The revelation Jake Lockley had just shared was a storm, and you were at its center. As the weight of it bore down upon you, you couldn't help but feel a surge of mixed emotions. Anticipation gnawed at the edges of your consciousness like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.

Your own memories had always been a mystery, a fragmented tapestry of experiences and secrets, but this new twist in the narrative had the power to change everything. You needed answers, and there was only one entity capable of providing them.

"I wish to speak to Khonshu," you said, your voice trembling with a strange mix of trepidation and determination as you spoke directly to Jake. "Summon your god. I need to hear the truth from him, to explain all of this to me."

His face is etched with anticipation, knowing that you've just asked him to summon his patron god, Khonshu, to enlighten you about a revelation that has shaken the foundation of your reality. The revelation that he knew you long before you, Marc Spector, and Steven Grant ever crossed paths. Your heart pounds like a drum in your chest, a chaotic rhythm that matches the turmoil inside your mind.

“As you wish, preciosa”, Jake nodded solemnly, his eyes never leaving yours as he understood the gravity of the situation. He closed his eyes and began to invoke his patron god’s name in a low, rhythmic voice. You could feel a slow shift in the atmosphere as the world seemed to sigh. And then, in a moment of pure mysticism, the air around you seems to ripple as a figure begins to materialize at your side, responding to the call of his avatar.

Khonshu, the ancient Egyptian god of the moon, was a sight to behold as he stood before you in all his divine splendor. He was imposing, a towering presence in his celestial form as he filled the vicinity with otherworldly radiance. The silvery light of the moon bathed his ancient robes in an ethereal glow, cloaking his spectral figure as his hollow eyes shone with intensity and celestial wisdom beneath the chiseled features of his bird skull.

"Mira, daughter of the moon" he said in a voice that resonated with power and ancient knowledge. "You seek my presence?"

“Yes indeed, Khonshu”, you nodded, unable to tear your gaze away from the god's luminous form as his aura possessed tranquil power that put you at ease. “I wish to speak with you, as I have questions that only you have the answer to”

“Then state your purpose, child”, Khonshu nodded slowly as his former and present avatars, Marc, Steven and Jake, watched the awaited conversation unfold between the two of you. “What questions do you seek answers to?”

"Is it true what Jake said?” you whispered, reverence mingled with fear in your voice. “Did he know me before we ever met? Before I ever met Marc and Steven?"

Khonshu's gaze shifted between you, Jake, Marc and Steven, his eyes a swirling pool of cosmic energy that seemed to penetrate your very soul.

"Yes," he admitted, his voice tinged with regret. "The night where I enlisted your help to move the night skies and find the constellation leading to Ammit's tomb did indeed happen. You played a crucial role in ensuring that my avatars will keep their lives."

"Why can't I remember any of it?" you asked, your voice filled with frustration and a hint of anger as the revelation sent shivers down your spine. “I do not understand why this was kept from me.”

“The memories of that time were concealed from you, Mira, through a powerful curse”, Khonshu raises an ethereal hand, his expression solemn as he gestured for you to be patient.

“A curse…” your voice quivers as you take a deep breath, a thousand questions flooding your mind. “I remember Mayari telling me that it was the god Set who cast it on me, as punishment for me and Darius aiding you, Anubis and the Ennead against him”

“I’m afraid that is not what happened, Mira”, Khonshu intones, his voice like distant thunder. “Your patron goddess lied to you for reasons even I couldn’t fathom yet–”

“Lied to me?” you took a few steps back, an incredulous expression starting to paint your face as you resumed your restless pacing, with your three astral companions watching you helplessly as you succumbed to the seeds of doubts planted and slowly blooming in your mind.

“Explain your words, Khonshu”, you implored, your heart heavy with uncertainty.

“The curse was placed not by Set, but by the moon goddess you serve as an avatar”, Khonshu sighed, the truth finally escaping his lips. “It was Mayari who erased your memories of saving and sharing your life force with Marc, Steven and Jake.”

The name of your patron goddess hung heavily in the air, and you immediately felt as if the world you thought you knew had been turned upside down. Mayari was your patron goddess, the divine being who had guided your steps and granted you her powers. The mere thought of her intervening in your life like this was incomprehensible. Her suspected betrayal was like a knife twisting in your heart.

“But why?” you demanded, pressing further as Khonshu’s words greatly confused you to no end. "Why would my goddess do such a thing?"

Khonshu's expression remained pensive, his gaze steady as he sighed, "I’m afraid only she can answer that question, child."

A surge of anger and frustration consumed you, its molten tendrils wrapping around your core like serpents seeking prey. Your vision blurred as the moon goddess you had long served, escaped your lips as a desperate plea.

“Mayari, aking diwatang pinaglilingkuran”, you spoke, invoking the name of your patron goddess. “Sinasamo kita”

Mayari, my goddess to whom I serve. I summon you.

You reached out to the divine connection that had always existed between you, attempting to summon your divine mentor to explain herself. But to your surprise and dismay, she refused your call. It was as if the moon goddess you served, the deity to whom you had given your loyalty and devotion, refused an audience with you.

"Mayari, pakiusap" you whispered again, your voice tremulous with mounting desperation. “Bigyang tugon mo ang aking pagsamo”

Mayari, please. Answer me and my divine summons to you.

The level of frustration climbed as it slowly clawed at your chest, its unrelenting grip threatening to consume your being. Your plea met deadly silence as the cosmic presence of your patron goddess remains elusive, shrouded behind an impenetrable veil and refusing to grace your presence. The celestial deity, usually your guiding light in times of darkness, had abandoned you when you needed her the most. A sense of betrayal seeped into your soul, gnawing at the very fabric of your faith.

“If Mayari refuses to shed some light into this, I will find a way myself”, you implored the Egyptian moon deity as he watched your struggle, turning to him in pure desperation. “You've sworn to help me, Khonshu. I'm calling upon that oath now”

“Indeed, I gave you my word”, Khonshu replied, regarding you with a quiet intensity. “What do you require of me, Mira?”

"As you know, I’m currently weakened by the new moon”, you inhaled deeply, focusing on the words you were about to speak. “Lend me your celestial prowess and strength, and I will use your moon magic to perform a spell to recover my memories of that night, and every memory I have lost."

“I will help you, Mira”, Khonshu's voice resonated within your mind, his words a whispered breeze. "But to grant you my full strength, there is a condition that needs to be fulfilled."

A sense of foreboding washed over you as you regarded the moon god's words. Khonshu was not known for his leniency, and his conditions often came at a heavy cost. You hesitated, then asked, "What is your condition, Khonshu?"

"To empower you as you seek, the others who once served as my avatars must return to their rightful place," Khonshu replied. "Marc Spector and Steven Grant - they must resume their servitude and come back to me. They must become the Moon Knight once again."

You recoiled at the suggestion, your heart heavy with reluctance. The proposition was heavy with implications that weighed upon your conscience like an anchor threatening to drag you into murky depths. You may not know the entirety of Marc, Steven and Jake’s history as Moon Knight - the weight of the mantle that they had carried, their struggles and sacrifices, and the scars they bore. But the mere thought of subjecting them to eternal servitude to a moon god, even if it had been their past, went against everything you have believed in and stood for.

You wish to protect them from such a fate.

"I cannot agree to that, Khonshu”, your determination unwavering despite the struggle to keep your voice steady as tears started to gather at the corners of your eyes. A silent tension hung in the dark corners of your mind, the cosmic weight of the moon god's gaze piercing through the veil of your thoughts.

“I will never ask this of them, nor will I subject them to that kind of torment”, your voice spoke again with finality, resolved to find another way.

And then, something astonishing happened, something you had not anticipated, nor even thought possible. Marc Spector, who had been watching silently from the sidelines, stepped forward. He stood tall, his eyes glowing with a resolute determination.

“I’ll do it, Mira”, Marc's voice was laced with a quiet resolve. “I’ll go back to being Khonshu’s avatar”

Stunned, you felt your heart skip a beat as you realized what his agreement implied. He was willing to make this sacrifice, to reclaim his former life as the Moon Knight and restore his connection with Khonshu. All in the name of granting you immense power to unlock the memories that had been concealed from the dark recesses of your mind for so long.

"Marc, no," you pleaded, your voice quivering with emotion. "You don't have to do this. I can't let you do this for me."

“I kept recalling that night when I was unable to protect you”, Marc's response was unwavering, his astral form stepping in front of you as his palms made contact with the soft skin of your cheeks. "And I swear to you - that will never happen again. If serving Khonshu will grant me the power and strength to protect you, then so be it.”

But before you could voice your protest, Steven Grant chimed in. His hands grasped your shoulders firmly despite hovering as a corporeal form as he nodded in agreement with Marc’s words.

"We wish you to remember your past, love. We're in this together, Mira, all of us"

You felt your heart ache with a mixture of gratitude, admiration, and a nagging sense of guilt. Even Steven was willing to bear the burden of servitude to the moon god so that you could gain power and remember your past. His and Marc’s selflessness and courage humbled you.

"But I can't let you all agree to this," you whispered, tears welling up in your eyes. "You have your own lives, your own desires. It's not fair to you, to any of you."

“We've already been through worse, mi vida”, Jake added his voice to the chorus this time, his tone carrying a sense of determination as his soft smile melted your heart. "I hope you trust us when we say that we can handle it, sí?"

The tears you’ve tried so hard to hold in streamed freely down your face, now realizing the depth of their commitment to you. Despite your protests and reservations, they were willing to give up their autonomy, their freedom, for you. It was a testament to their loyalty and their desire to protect you.

“If you are to accept this, it must be a collective decision”, Khonshu's spectral form shifted, and his gaze seemed to bore into Marc and Steven’s souls. "All three of you will be bound to me in servitude. Do you accept this, Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley?"

The three alters exchanged a look, a silent conversation that transcended words. Then, as one, they nodded.

"We accept," Marc said, his voice resonating with a newfound determination.

Steven and Jake echoed the sentiment, their voices overlapping in a haunting harmony. "We accept."

Khonshu's presence seemed to expand, enveloping the rooftop in a shroud of ethereal energy. "Then let the oath be sworn."

Respecting their decision, you closed your eyes and reached out to the astral plane, summoning your moon magic. With a burst of ethereal energy, you began to return the corporeal and astral forms of Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley to their shared body. The three personas coalesced seamlessly into a single entity before your very eyes, all co-conscious in their shared mind.

"I swear," they intoned in unison, "to do my duty as Moon Knight, to protect the travelers of the night, and above all, to safeguard Mira’s life at all costs."

With those words, the transformation began. The familiar threads of Khonshu's ceremonial armor, a blend of ancient Egyptian motifs and protective gold breast plates, wrapped around their shared body once again. His white-clad hood and mask slid into place, concealing his features, and his eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, radiating power and purpose. Marc Spector and Steven Grant had become the Moon Knight once more together with Jake Lockley, a defender of the night, bound by an unbreakable oath.

You took a step back, feeling a mixture of awe and trepidation as the Moon Knight stood before you, a living embodiment of divine power. It was a sight to behold, but it also carried a heavy burden. You knew that the man beneath the mask, the alters within, had given up a piece of themselves for this power.

With the weight of this new alliance and purpose, you opened a portal using your mystic arts prowess to your residence in Surrey. You turned to the Moon Knight, speaking softly as you have officially extended an invitation to your home to Marc, Steven and Jake.

"Come with me then”, you said softly, your right hand outstretched for them to take. “We have work to do."

Resolute and determined, the Moon Knight took your hand as the two of you went through the portal together.They were unmasked for a brief moment, nodding in pure understanding as their voice carried a sense of unwavering commitment.

"After you, Mira."

btw on the tangent of end of history ass bullshit I put my finger recently on why adapting Good Omens as a modern-day story bugs me

bc I Have Known. bc I was a comedy-fantasy afficianado in the 90s/early 2000s. that GO is one of many examples of a very specific genre of British comedy-scifi-fantasy popular in the 90s I would term "millennial apocalypse farce".

you know, they're a mix of biblical eschatology, Fortean Times conspiracy theory, cult tropes, and Y2K Rise of the Machines stuff, smashed together into an Adamsian comedy where a group of hapless protagonists bumble around while the world falls apart in comically overblown ways. imo, though a lot of authors bring their own spin to it, they're all heavily stylistically influenced specifically by Dirk Gently, which isn't Millennial Apocalypse Farce but I think did inspire a lot of it. Robert Rankin is on the edge of it, Good Omens is the most lasting example, but I read like 20 of these and most authors only wrote one afaict.

but the thing I was saying the other day is I honestly cannot think of a genre of popular English-language fiction that's more rooted in a specific time and culture. I tried for a while and really couldn't.

It just doesn't translate well away from the turn of the millennium, purely because the millennium was such a fevered touchpoint for Apocalypse Stuff. two things there I think.

Obviously, Y2K looming. Millennium Approaches. The turn of every century has often been accompanied by an uptick in interest in apocalypses and end times, but this was the BIGGIE. It's only happened on this calendar once before. People in the 1900s were talking about how close they were to a new millennium. The approaching millennium dominated the whole 20th century, and especially with how apocalyptic a lot of the 20th century felt in terms of war and technology, apocalyptic fervour really kicked up in the 90s. And there was a smorgasbord of apocalypses to choose from; divine, nuclear, digital, cosmic, alien, all stuff which on the millennial scale had really only just shown up in the last century or so. I was 7 in 2000 so pinch of salt but I remember all of us sort of holding our breath leading up to Jan 1 2000, not just bc of Y2K but bc it felt like something momentous HAD to happen.

The end of history. The cold war had subsided, and so had the economic depression of the 70s and 80s UK. There just was not a Singular Apocalypse hanging over a group of people who'd spent their whole lives in the shadow of a Singular Nuclear Apocalypse. I think stuff really rushed in to fill that gap, and Millennial Apocalypse Farce is a response to that sudden glut of possible apocalypses all clamouring for attention.

I think as well American end-of-days right-wing evangelism was really loud in the 80s-90s and that plays a part, cause the generally lefty and consciously self-effacing British comedy author milieu found that off-putting in a very mockable way

but the point is that glut of apocalypses was a real flash in the pan, the same way the End of History was. it was a like 10-15 year timespan where the world was definitely ending but nobody could say why or how, and it began around the fall of the Berlin Wall and ended on September 11, 2001.

Millennial Apocalypse Farce novels did keep coming out after 2001 but like everything else, the culture has changed really radically, and also, like, we were past the millennium. Those infinite possibilities of apocalypses hadn't paid off. Not saying that the public interest in apocalypse went away - 2012, obviously. The LHC. But the full on fervour for any and all crank apocalypses kind of petered off a bit bc the turn of the millennium was so much a flashpoint for it. and anyway we had really concrete apocalypses again - terrorism, totalitarian governments, plague, and of course the main 21st century apocalypse, Oh Shit We Really Fucked This Climate Change Thing Up.

and I really love the Millennial Apocalypse Farce genre. I really love stumbling on books in that genre. because it's such a time capsule for an incredibly specific period in recent cultural history.

but it does not translate into a 2020s setting. It's so 90s. it's so rooted in a really specific landscape of cultural anxieties and abstractions. it just doesn't make sense to me to translate it to the modern day, it's like setting Angels in America in 2023. it's just the wrong type of apocalypse. apocalypses are culturally generated and they change fast based on how a culture sees itself and the world. you can't pick up a 1990 apocalypse and put it unchanged in 2023, it's Wrong. if you're going to do that you have to be in conversation with it, you can't just update it.

like ok example of thoughtfully recontextualising an anachronistic apocalypse for a modern setting. War of the Worlds 2005. Why is it War of the Worlds? Because it wants to say some things about the relationship between post 9/11 America and colonial England, and how the specific common anxiety of invasion affects them as people in a nation of invaders. Idk if it's a good film cause I didn't like it when I watched it but that was a long time ago. But the intent makes sense.

what does putting a Millennial Apocalypse Farce in the 2020s actually. say? about the commonalities between now and then? I mean. Based on the TV show of Good Omens, to me, not a lot. It's pretty beat for beat in that sense, and we're not really far enough away from 1990 for it to have the obvious impacts that saying "now is very like then" does with, say, War of the Worlds, because the world of HG Wells was distant enough for a 2005 audience to go 'oh, Victorian colonialism, that's Not Like Us.' whereas like. I remember the 90s. It's not recent but it's in continuity with now. saying "then it's like now" is a) kind of Incorrect imo, the cultural anxieties are Very Different, and b) not...striking?

idk like. The genre is dated. The nature of that specific apocalypse idea is incredibly dated. And that's good actually. It's fine for art to be a time capsule of a specific cultural moment and to not make sense divorced from that moment. That's good! That's a good use of art!

|| Tantra: An Unexplored Science, Basic Meaning Explained. How Is It Connected To Bhagawan Shiva? ||

In Hinduism, there are three ways to worship any Deity-

1. The satavik way- In which we show our devotion to a deity using satvik ways like ringing the bell, offering jal, prasad etc.

2. The rajasik way- In which we show our devotion by dressing up in a specific way, using fragrance, using ratnas, some yantra etc.

3. The tamasik way- In which we show our devotion by using some specific rituals, dead bodies, animal sacrifices, sex etc.

It is common for people to misunderstand tantra, but it shouldn't come as a surprise because everyone possesses different qualities within them, namely Sato (purity), Rajo (activity), and Tamo (darkness).

Tantra provides a pathway to worship the divine through the Tamo aspect of our nature. In essence, Tantra is a science of the mind, a form of psychological exploration that aims to expand one's perception. The term 'Tantra' originates from Sanskrit and has multiple interpretations. One explanation is that it is a play on the word 'sutra,' which means 'thread' or 'formula.' If sutras represent individual threads of thought, Tantra can be likened to a loom that weaves these threads together into a comprehensive system of thoughts.

Another understanding is that Tantra combines the words 'tattva,' meaning the science of cosmic principles, and 'mantra,' referring to the science of mystical sound and vibration. In this sense, Tantra delves into the knowledge of universal principles and the use of sacred sounds for spiritual purposes.

According to Hindu beliefs, at the beginning of Satyuga, Bhagawan Shiva appeared as Swacchandanatha, possessing five mouths representing his five energies: Consciousness Bliss Will Knowledge, and Action. Through these energies, Shiva revealed the Tantras, some spoken through each of his mouths and others simultaneously recited through multiple mouths. These Tantras fall into two main categories: Dualistic and Mono-Dualistic, known respectively as "Shiva Tantra" and "Rudra Tantra."

When these five energies of Bhagawan Shiva unite in a way that each holds the others simultaneously, they give rise to 64 Bhairav Tantras, which are purely Monistic (Advaitic) in nature. The philosophical teachings expounded in these Tantras are referred to as the "Trika" philosophy or Kashmir Shaivism.

The origins of the sacred Tantras are believed to involve teachings initially given by Bhagawan Shiva to his wife, which were then passed on to human sages like Matsendranath. It is crucial to understand that Tantra does not advocate promiscuity but rather emphasizes extreme discipline. It is viewed as a technology or method to harness the energies within the body and from the surroundings.

According to Tantra, every human being with limited mental vision is spiritually ill. The true state of health is attained by transcending the constraints of time, space, and causation. The ultimate goal of Tantra is to replace the limited personality with an unlimited and permanent one, facilitating spiritual liberation and profound transformation. Indeed, the practice of Tantra is deeply rooted in the tradition of receiving Guru Diksha or initiation from a qualified spiritual teacher.

As Bhagawan Shiva emphasized in the Kularnava Tantram, all the practices advocated by Tantras, such as Yoga, Dhyana (meditation), Puja (worship), Japa (chanting), and others, are considered futile without proper initiation (adikshata). Just as seeds sown on stones fail to grow into plants, similarly, the efforts of an uninitiated person in these practices may not bear fruit. It's crucial to understand that Tantra is a profound and intricate spiritual path that goes beyond the understanding of today's science. It is not synonymous with black magic or superficial spells (tona totka). Instead, it involves a deep exploration of the mind, energy, and spiritual consciousness.

Myth as a Map for Inner Journeys

Shamanism is based on the principle that innate wisdom and guidance can be accessed through the inner senses in ecstatic trance. Ecstatic trance is an academic term referring to those inwardly focused experiences of cosmic oneness, that mystical connection to a living, intelligent Universe that exists within each of us. Practitioners enter altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with the inner world of the self. The act of entering an ecstatic trance state is called the soul flight or shamanic journey.

The capacity to enter a range of trance states is a natural manifestation of human consciousness. A landmark study by Michael Winkelman, one of the foremost scholars on shamanism today, reveals that the cross-cultural manifestations of basic experiences related to shamanism (e.g., soul flight, death-and-rebirth, animal identities) are rooted in innate functions of the brain, mind and consciousness.(1) The inherent ability to enter trance states makes us human, not shamans. What makes shamans unique is their mastery over an otherwise normal human trait. It requires a great deal of training, practice and devotion to master any expressive art. Shamans master the art of ecstasy to see the true nature of the Universe.

Rhythmic drumming is a simple and effective way to induce ecstatic trance states. When a drum is played at an even tempo of three to four beats per second for at least 15 minutes, most people can journey successfully even on their first attempt. Transported by the driving beat of the drum, the journeyer travels to the inner planes of consciousness, using myth as an inner map to guide their journey. Myth is the reality of the soul, just as history is the reality of the temporal world.

The Shaman's Mythic Cosmos

According to shamanic cosmology, there are three inner planes of consciousness: the Upper, Middle and Lower Worlds. There are numerous levels in both the Lower and Upper Worlds and they exist outside of time. The upper or celestial realm is the home of the Star Nations and Thunder Beings--a related family of divine beings who bring about weather changes and sustain life on Earth. This shamanic realm relates to our higher self or superconsciousness. It is the domain of divine archetypes such as angels, deities and evolved teachers. They may include great spiritual teachers such as Jesus, Buddha, Lao-Tzu, and so on. In this realm are the archetypal patterns or original energetic blueprints of everything that has or will ever exist. The celestial realm forms the matrix of possibilities that correspond to the world we experience through our mind and senses. All situations, conditions and states of being are a manifestation of a world of archetypes--as above, so below. Every event in the visible world is the effect of a "seed" image or pattern in the unseen world.

We can journey to the Upper World to acquire archetypal knowledge, to bring a vision into being, or to influence events in the material world. By interacting with the archetypes, we interact with their counterparts in the outer world. We can also go there for inspiration, insight, or to find ways to restore balance in the world. As anthropologist Felicitas Goodman points out, "One of the most pervasive traditions of shamanic cultures is the insight that there exists a patterned cosmological order, which can be disturbed by human activity."(2) When harmony between the human realm and the original intended pattern is disturbed, we can journey to the celestial realm to bring back the balance. To journey up, you can visualize a tree or ladder that you climb up, soar on the wings of an eagle, or simply lift off the ground and rise into the air. Once you get to the upper realm, the landscape is typically more ethereal, higher in frequency and scintillating in light.

The Middle World is where spirit meets matter and is related to our ego or conscious self. The Middle World can be thought of as a non-ordinary mirror of ordinary reality. It is the spirit counterpart of the material realm and the inner region most like outer reality. The middle realm is so parallel to the world in which we live that a skilled journeyer can travel across it and visit all the places, people and things they know in ordinary reality. Spirit journeys in the Middle World provide a means of travel and communication without cars, planes or cell phones. It is a means of exploring our temporal landscape to find the location of healing herbs or lost objects, or to establish communication links over great distances.

To take a Middle World journey, simply imagine yourself walking out your front door and traveling through the landscape very quickly to look for something you have lost or to reach a distant destination. However, I do not recommend journeying to the Middle World unless you have a very good reason to go there. Unlike the upper and lower realms, where everything is guided by benevolence, the middle realm does not have benevolence or ethics at its core. That does not mean that it is a bad place. Rather, it is a place that mirrors what is happening in ordinary reality--the chaos of our times. It is a place full of risks and hidden dangers, such as holes in the ground that can entrap you. Traveling in this realm can be tricky even for an experienced journeyer. Moreover, the spirits who dwell in this realm cannot provide the wisdom, healing and empowerment you find in the Upper or Lower Worlds.

The Lower World relates to our unconscious mind. It is the realm of animal spirits, spirit guides and the ancestors, the place to which human spirits travel upon physical death. This inner plane is the domain of power animals, also known as guardian spirits, spirit allies, totem animals and tutelary animals. A power animal is the primeval oversoul that represents the entire species of that animal. A spirit journey to the Lower World is generally undertaken to seek the help and guidance of one's power animal, to connect with benevolent ancestors, to recover lost power, or to find and return a sick person's wandering spirit. Moreover, just to clear up any misconceptions, the shamanic underworld is not associated with anything dark, sinister or evil. That concept belongs to a completely different, often monotheistic religious belief system and cosmology.

For your first journeys, I recommend traveling to the Lower World, using the technique taught by the late Michael Harner. Founder of The Foundation for Shamanic Studies, Harner was widely acknowledged as the world's foremost authority on experiential and practical shamanism. To take a Lower World journey, Harner suggests that you visualize an opening into the earth that you remember from sometime in your life. The entrance could be an animal burrow, hollow tree stump, cave, and so on. When the journey begins, you will go down the hole and a tunnel will appear. The tunnel often appears ribbed and may bend or spiral around. This tunnel-like imagery is related to the central axis that links the three inner planes of consciousness. Enter the tunnel and you will emerge into the Lower World. The terrain that you traverse is typically very natural and very Earth-like.

The three cosmic realms are linked together by a vertical axis that is commonly referred to as the World Tree or axis mundi. The roots of the cosmic World Tree touch the Lower World. Its trunk is the Middle World, and its branches hold up the Upper World. This central axis (spinal column) exists within each of us. Through the sound of the drum, which is invariably made of wood from the World Tree, the shaman is transported to the cosmic axis within and conveyed from plane to plane. As Tuvan Siberian ethnomusicologist Valentina Suzukei explains, "There is a bridge on these sound waves so you can go from one world to another. In the sound world, a tunnel opens through which we can pass, or the shaman's spirits come to us. When you stop playing the drum, the bridge disappears."(3)

The Inner Journey

The shaman traverses the inner planes in order to mediate between the needs of the spirit world and those of the material world. It is an inward spiritual journey of rapture in which the shaman interacts with the inner spirit world, thereby influencing the outer material world. In the shaman's world, all human experience is self-generated. Experience is shaped from within since the three realms or resonant fields that define our experience of reality exist within each of us.

The essence of shamanism is the experience of direct revelation from within. Shamanism is about remembering, exploring and developing the true self. Shamanism places emphasis on the individual, of breaking free and discovering one's own uniqueness in order to bring something new back to the community. Shamanic practice heightens the ability of perception and enables you to see into the deeper realms of the self. Once connected with your inner self, you can find help, healing and a continual source of guidance. To practice shamanism is to reconnect with your deepest core values and your highest vision of who you are and why you are here.

We can engage the blueprint of our soul path through the vehicle of journeying. Shamanic journeying is a time-tested medium for individual self-realization. We can journey within to access wisdom and energies that can help awaken our soul calling and restore us to wholeness. It heightens our sense of mission and purpose, empowering our personal evolution. I invite you to try a shamanic journey.

I feel very strongly that you and your Destined Person were never even separate, in a sense. On a Soul level, you were never apart. You’ve always been together and even now you’re almost like… One. Never really tasting the sweetness of Love by her own resistance, she died young by a demonic spirit.
