Hi! Hope you're doing okay. I love your Sol Sonic AU! Question:

1. How similar and different is Sol Sonic compared to Canon Sonic and Canon Blaze? Like, in habits, attitude, etc. Obviously he has his need for freedom, but how does he present himself to others? Does his royal upbringing have an impact on his conduct?

2. His fighting style. You made his outfit pants similar to the firefighters in the anime Fire Force. How does he fight, in a a way that differs from his Canon counterpart and Canon Blaze? Does he breakables a lot? Does he ever learned swordsmanship, because imagine Sonic wielding a sword made of fire.

3. Character conclusion. Sonic's need for freedom vs his duty to his kingdom. Does he pass the ruling to someone else at the end, or does he forsake his desire for freedom completely after his mission? Or does he find a compromise between the two?

4. You said that Sonic's sens of duty towards his kingdom is stronger than his desire to be free. What got him to finally act on that desire? What villain, or threat, motivated him enough to strike out without contacting anyone else for help to deal with the threat in his stead?

sol sonic isn't a fusion between sonic and blaze's personalities! his personality is the same as it's always been, it's just now, he's been forced into a situation that's not suited for him. his royal status challenges his free spirit and makes it difficult for him to truly live the way he wants to. it's hard on him-- he represses a lot, and finds himself oftentimes feeling dissatisfied with his life.

as for how he presents himself to others… sonic, canonically, creates a mask for himself, a very specific image that he wants other people to see. it's the same with sol sonic. except now, there's an extra layer of "everyone is counting on me AND it's my job". so the pressure is up even more. he can't show his sadness or dissatisfaction, he can't let people know when he's frustrated, because he has to keep a level head and make the best decisions he can for everyone.

most people view him as incredibly intimidating, but that's just because he's got an iron grip on his emotions. he can't cry. not because of sega… but because he needs to be the person people can rely on to keep everything together, even when anyone else would be falling apart.

he doesn't have much fondness for other royals. he's friendly enough, and plenty cordial, but the only one he has any real connection with is the neighboring kingdom's princess, elise. they bond over being put in a position they didn't ask for. and he finds some comfort in knowing he's not alone in feeling the weight of a kingdom on his shoulders (although, he doesn't tell her that obviously).

as for his "royal upbringing"… i think he thinks it's silly. he's not one to "follow expectations" if he finds them boring and pedantic. he's very casual when it comes to the way he interacts with all that high society shit. but he knows-- it's just another part of the mask. and he should at least try to keep up appearances. so he'll entertain it. but he never takes it very seriously.

his fighting style isn't much like blaze's… that type of flashy wizard type shit. it's not really his style. i'd imagine he uses his fire powers in a much more melee type style. fire kicks/punches etc. i also think it'd be fun if he kind of like, incorporated break dancing into his fighting style? like his moves are very reminiscent of a street dancer-- cuz that's his REAL personality. the freedom he feels when he can let loose with his flames reflected perfectly in the style…

also, i'm gonna say hard yes on him using a fire sword. that's literally the coolest concept ever and i was already thinking about drawing something like that at some point so yeah. it goes hand in hand with his more hands on combat style too, since the "sword" is really just an extension of himself (as opposed to something that can be sent flying like a fireball).

"does he pass the ruling to someone else at the end"… sonic would never shirk responsibility to someone else just because he didn't want to do it. he doesn't want to-- but he will. "it's not about chivalry for me, i just gotta do what i've gotta do." he takes care of people, he protects them-- how could he simply stop doing that? just because it's difficult for him? absolutely not.

but he doesn't forsake his desire for freedom either. after his quest to save the world, he realizes he can kinda have a hannah montana moment. the best of both worlds. he can go out and interact with the world WITHOUT abandoning anyone. in fact, he can find new ways to help people through venturing out. he's still tethered to his duty, but he can stretch his legs. if only just a little bit.

so... the question has to do with the overall plot of this au. so i'll explain that now: basically, what if iblis is sealed in the sol dimension but like, not perfectly? there's cracks. fire comes through... and iblis minions rise up, tormenting civilians and endangering property and etc. so sonic takes it upon himself to manage that, even though he's not supposed to leave the castle. then one day, the sol emeralds mysteriously go missing, and silver appears. not a good sign. sonic takes the opportunity to get the hell out, reasoning that it won't take /too/ long to save the world.

canonically, blaze sealed iblis away and saved the future. but what if the god was able to escape death? what if it fled to an alternate timeline... where things are just a little bit different?

so, the person who stole the sol emeralds was actually mephiles. not au mephiles. THE mephiles. from canon. and he's got a horrible grudge against sonic... mephiles' plan is to lure sonic away from the castle so he can trick the prince into unsealing iblis. by a twist of fate, this time it's sonic, who, with the power of the sol emeralds, is the only person capable of such a feat.

A sprinkle of angst, Frank may get sad from time to time bc they feel almost,, out of place in the relationship. Eddie and Howdy are incredibly close and have known each other longer than they've both known Frank. This causes some self doubt.

However Eddie and Howdy are Quick to shoo the thoughts away! The reassure Frank and smother them in affection! All praise and loving words. How much they love him, how happy he makes them, just everything about Frank Frankly they adore.

Over time this doubt fades away, Frank becomes confident in themselves, their love, and their Loves!

Hello, I really like your art and I was just wondering: are you self taught, or did you take classes/go to art school? If you are self taught, what resources/strategies do you recommend to improve and is there any “art wisdom” you would like to share?

oh, thank you very much! that’s very kind. I’m flattered, but yeah i’m basically entirely self taught (which is why my style can be a bit inconsistent at times lol).

i don’t think i’m particularly in a place with my work where i can dictate how other people should go about refining their skills—aside from it being a very varied process that depends on your personal taste and style, no two people will ever really draw the same way. but, if you’re aiming for something you see in mine, here’s what i recommend/what i enjoy about art below the cut!

i watch a lot of art videos! not necessarily tutorials, but things like draw with mes or animatics or process videos. i think you can find a lot of inspiration watching other people work. also, sometimes being self indulgent can be really helpful: what do you personally want to draw? once you identify what inspires you it’s a lot easier to motivate yourself to actually draw it.

i know people say it a lot, but it’s okay to make bad art, or art you aren’t proud of, or art that’s messy or unfinished or self indulgent. if drawing yourself holding hands with your favorite fictional character does that for you, great! if you really really want to learn to draw dragons, go for it! and you don’t have to post anything if you don’t want to. art should, first and foremost, be made for you.

some of my favorite pieces and concepts came from me just drawing something for the sake of it, or because i enjoy the trope. also, especially when it comes to digital art, don’t forget you can ALWAYS scrap something and start over. drew a pose you aren’t totally sold on? hide the layer and draw it again from another angle! even if you don’t like the new one more, it might help your perspective.

something i want to do personally more often is studies. lighting, painting, etc. i like painting things and figuring out how they’d work, even if i’m not a personal fan of realism.

also, yes. gesture drawing and practice is fantastic and i should really do it more ;; it shouldn’t be all you do if you don’t enjoy it, but it can genuinely be really helpful now and then.

I just posted chapter 15 & I’m going to GUESS we are about halfway done. In my mind we are halfway through the last book and that means we have roughly 15 chapter left to go then the epilogue.

I’m pretty good at estimating chapter count but horrible at word count estimation haha.

in this post, I theorised how his (singing and talking) voice would sound like - as a choir kid, he kept some pretty good singing reflexes after all. But overall, Marion's voice is rather mellow and warm, close to Reiji's deep modulated tone but more French and -oh surprise- less snooty.

𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬

listen, he has a fucking alarm programmed and attached directly onto his brain. No seriously, he could have spent the worst week of his existence; long hours of training, even longer hours of studying, the weather is shit, his sisters fight, mercury is in retrograde, he stupidly accepts every and any mission given to him, spends the night away out in town, hunting or partying like Armageddon was near but all in all, he will always, always wake up between 6:45 and 7:10am. Like??? what kind of superpower is that?? You can imagine his sleeping schedule is an obscene mess. And this bitch doesn't even have really bad eye bags. Give him a good resting night or two and he'll be fresh and ready to live life to the fullest with a perfect smile. how dare he.

But yeah, back to his sleeping habits. Very simple: he is sound asleep when laying on his right side, an arm tugged under his pillow, topless most of the time (maybe he'll wear a cotton tee on cold nights), wearing a dark blue short that is probably the softest piece of fabric in his closet (he's been using for years the same softener that gives a fresh, subtle scent of lilac and pear to his clothes). Always tries to aerate the room before going to sleep, even in winter. The colder, the better.

𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞

Marion should have been left-handed but his dad never allowed him to use the 'Devil's hand' - he was taught (forced) to learn how to write with his right hand. He actually was quite precocious and knew how to read and write basic words before he even started school.

But whenever he would reach for a pencil, a brush or a fork with his 'wrong' hand, his dad is here to slap it away and then stand next to him, sternly judging if his son kept on obeying - thus his current handwriting : it is not that bad, but you easily understand that now, Marion's writing style is all about effectiveness and quickness. Writing is a nuisance, he just wants to be done with it.

Careless letters, hurried yet nonchalant airy loops, one time well spaced, another tighter, depending on his mood, his pen sometimes barely touches the paper and he will not take the time to correct it if the word is wrongly used or barely decipherable. Being out of school for such a long time didn't help either - it in fact worsened the problem making it very tough for him to properly take the time to write a proper paper and not a rubbish mess.

The only time when his ambidexterity shows is when he's painting - only painting though, he sketches with his right hand.

Hauntingly clear and powerful.

Zorya has a very stable ambitus and a considerable amplitude - her voice is an instrument for her. She plays the silvery charming tones and the lower intimidating notes alike. It is a voice for assemblies and intimacy.

Posed and mastered. She never needs to shout.

The voice of a leader and a teacher. Somehow low, there is a strange, celestial coldness to it. thrummed consonants, purred syllables. an omen hides behind her every words.

Ending sentences in hushed tones, her breath carries an uncanny wisdom.

(please, don't ask for a voice claim, I already know I'd hate doing research on that)

𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬

She is an extreme light sleeper. The faintest sound, touch or smell can wake her up. A theatrical queen who adores sleeping in silk, linen, or even completely naked to be honest.

Zorya has a spasmodic sleeping schedule :

two hours of sleep. wakes up. has a walk and looks at the stars' journey. back to bed with a book and an herbal tea. a bit of sleep. rises anew (with the sun even if it is different in the demon world). works a few hours. sleeps again. repeat.

Even though she adapted it over the years, Zorya is still disciplined on a certain routine; especially regarding beauty and health care, shadow work and spirituality. Whether it'd be oiling, combing and braiding her hair, rearranging her ointments, channelling her magic - using joss, taking care of her physic garden, cleaning her stones and jewellery and blades while chanting in a forgotten tongue, she's mostly alone. She has the time.

Sleeps on her side or on her back. Never on her stomach. After so many years, the scar still hurts oftentimes.

𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞

If her voice carries a large amount of power - dear heavens, you don't want to know what her hands can create.

Friendly advice ('tis for you Marion): never, ever try to open one of her books without her permission.

In fact, Zorya could have never learnt how to write in the first place. Oral tradition was predominant at her time - even among the old demonic races. But her mother taught her how to read and write as she knew it'd be useful in the future: the highest spheres of power were always the ones holding this knowledge after all.

Naturally left-handed which was convenient because for a long time, the official language of the demon realm was in a right-to-left script (like in Hebrew or in most Arabic languages). But she obviously adapted over the time. - The writing system evolved mostly during the second era of Founders' hegemony. With the rise and establishment of clans in determined territories. A national sentiment grew in spite of their allegiance to the First Bloods and they all developed their own dialect, declined from the high demonic alphabet. The centralisation of knowledge spread beyond the Founders' territories and knew its fastest assimilation in the Vampire Clan first (thanks to Karlheinz's former friendship with Giesbach and Krone), then the Adlers, Viboras and finally the Wolves.

Zorya mostly remembers the sibylline curves and sharp lines of the northern dialect and nowadays, her handwriting looks like if Cyrillic and runic alphabets had a fancy child.

Who’s your favourite between the servants?

this is both an easy question and a hard question!!! i think easily, it’s lumiere. he was actually who i cared most about for the first couple months i was in love with this movie all those years ago! lumiere was my BOY and plumiere was my otp <3 and i STILL love him and THEM so much of course, but i think clearly my focus has shifted sjdksj

but the thing is!!!! i love all of them for different reasons. and since adam and belle have become my focus, i like to look at each of their individual relationships WITH them!

i love thinking about lumiere AND plumette’s relationship with adam, especially growing up. i’ve written a small handful of fics about it, this one being my personal favorite, when adam’s eleven years old and lum & plum are a young couple. i just feel like they were the big brother and sister he never had, and often didn’t always fully appreciate. but they were always there for him and that remains true even post movie. AND of course i think they become such close and dear friends to belle! <3 i always write them as oncle lumiere & tante plumette (uncle and aunt) to adam & belle’s children. they’re a family!!!

(this scene makes me go insane. the history, the healed wounds, the forgiveness of it all…. anyway)

i also LOVE thinking about mrs. potts’ relationship with both of them. with adam, obviously, it’s been his whole lifetime. i think it’s safe to say potts was very much a surrogate mother to him, as much as she could be/was allowed to be, after his mother died. (which i personally headcanon that he was 9 when that happened. around 9 and a half actually but my timeline is far too outrageously detailed for that to matter.)

anyway i think something so important with potts and adam is that she’s always straight up with him. she’s honest even when it stings, even when he doesn’t want to hear it. like the scene in the movie when she’s like “oh, we can’t judge people by who their father is now can we?” like WHO else would have the boldness to bring up his father to adam. when it’s CLEARLY the sorest of sore subjects. but notice his reaction! he merely sneers at her, but overall (silently) admits she may have a point. it’s just such a clear and interesting factor of their relationship and i love exploring it in my pre- and post-canon works.

i personally headcanon that she was the one who told him when his father died (when he was 15, in my world). no one else wanted to touch it and the young prince at the time equally knew that. he asked her if he was dead and she told him “yes, he is.” (this is all from a big fic i wrote a couple years back but i’m not linking it because it’s a beast (pun slightly intended) of a fic. just trust me and my lore <3).

a fic i WILL very much link because i’m very proud of it is one post-canon, after adam and belle’s first daughter has been born. it’s one of the sweetest fics i’ve written and it highlights the caring relationship that potts and adam have now. gahh!! i love it so dearly.

i don’t know where else to put this note but: when belle danced with her father at the wedding, adam then danced with mrs. potts.

and a final note for potts, i think she becomes so important to belle too!! belle’s never had a mother figure in her life, and while maurice has been the most incredible parent and belle has wanted for nothing in that department, i still think she enjoys having potts to go to sometimes. for advice or just to pass the time. i have such a cute fic between them, actually when belle’s pregnant with their first daughter, and i think it does a good job of showing the cute relationship that’s developed between them <3

cogsworth is a KING and a LEGEND of course. i love that funny fussy man <3 i love him being something of an old uncle to adam, watching over him growing up and being a constant presence in his life. i read a fic a WHILE ago, forgive me for not remembering who wrote it but it’s probably very deep in my ‘#batb fic’ tag. anyway it made the lore that cogsworth was adam’s mother’s cousin, and she hired him as her head of household when she became queen so she could have some family with her. which i LOVE !!! i mean they’re all treated as family but i do love the idea that cogsworth is actually adam’s semi distant cousin-turned-great-uncle. anyway i love that guy, he definitely has very little patience for adam and belle’s brood of offspring, but he loves them dearly <3

i got so caught up in mrs. potts love that i forgot about chip!!!!!!!! i love that kid SOOO much. literally the cutest kid ever so jot that down. i honestly don’t think much about him in post-canon, mostly because it’s so hard to imagine him growing up. i often make the excuse that he’s away at school (adam generously and gladly paid for his education) or off traveling if it’s way in the future (idk i just feel like if you spent a bit of your childhood as a teacup you may grow up to have an urge to be free for a while). i think he Does have a really cute relationship with the adelle kids (and plumiere kids too!) but it’s just hard to imagine him older haha. i’ve written a tiny scene of him holding baby renée for the first time, but have not published it yet <3

but anyway, i love him. the first scene when maurice is in the castle and chip’s like “mum said i shouldn’t move, because it might be scary. sorry.” and maurice going “ :) it’s fine :)” and immediately running off ALWAYS makes me laugh. and later when mrs. potts says “i’ll tell you when you’re older” and he waits like two seconds and says “okay, i’m older! :D” how could you not love this kid. big love for chip my boy! and ACTUALLY i am gonna link a fic involving him because he deserves it. this fic is honestly one of my favorites of all my works. it is set just a month or two after adam and belle are married, so chip’s still a kiddo. there’s a big scene somewhere in the middle of the fic where belle and chip go play with his toy boats at the pond. they have a boat race and just hang out and it’s extremely beloved. enjoy yourself with that fic i love it sooo much.

shout out to the other staff members that get less attention! (even from me!) chapeau and cuisinier!! i do include them every now and then. i have beloved headcanons like chapeau is the one who taught belle & adam’s daughter juliette to play violin (she’s an accomplished violinist). and when belle is pregnant with all three kiddos she gets very wild cravings and will be in the kitchen at random hours making horrendous combinations of food that are perfect for her but cuisinier just has to stand there like :) because he can’t STOP his queen! he just has to let it happen as she mixes together ingredients that God never intended to ever mix. also i think the kiddos like to hide in the kitchen sometimes so they can sneak pastries and treats, and cuisinier is always on the look out for them and often has to shoo them out (but yes he still gives them treats because he can’t help it)

also special shout out to cadenza and garderobe who are EXTREMELY beloved, LOVE THEM SO MUCH, THEY INVENTED LOVE, but they’re not technically staff so they’re not ever in my fics!! i love them but i always imagine they’re off traveling and gracing the world with their incredible talent and perfect love :”) i headcanon that when they DO come back and visit the gang, there’s always a ball thrown in their honor. the whole family finally back together!! fun ladies tea with belle, potts, plumette, and garderobe. plenty of story-telling about all their travels from cadenza as well <3 but yeah don’t worry i love them so so so much and they’re the world renown incredibly talented couple that are beloved by all ✨

17 for the ask game?

Characters I relate to most, huh?

I’ll admit, this one’s a hard one. I sometimes misjudge myself, so I had to talk to my friends about this one and what they think. Plus, doing quizzes before have helped.

So, let’s break this down (partially to make sure it fits)

To start, my quiz result is always Nagi.

At first, I was honestly confused by this. I was like “okay, I’m a huge fangirl, but I’m not like that crazy of a fangirl. Nor do I see myself as serious as she often is (though I can be serious?? just not in the Nagi way.)

But I’ve learned that I am indeed like Nagi. I try my best to be an empathetic, understanding person. I’m not always the best at reading people offline like she is, but I can usually read people better online (…not always. Depends on their typing style and how open they are). Once I know people, I can even work out their reasons for acting the way they do, and whether or not I agree with them is another question entirely. Either way, people aren’t black and white, so even if I don’t agree with them, that understanding of how they think, what their feelings are, etc. helps me see the full extent of who they are. And that in turn helps me accept all parts of them, the good and the bad.

…wow, okay, just looking at that last paragraph, I can see why I got Nagi.

But anyway, what really sold me on being like Nagi? Is that despite all of this, despite trying my best to understand and get along with people… I’ve found that there really are types of people I just don’t get along with so well. Either because their talking style just doesn’t really click with me, or because they seem very closed off and I can’t tell much about them, or just something else that I can’t put my thumb on.

But anyway, despite that, I’m also not like pre-Game Nagi with how she is when confronted with characters like that. When it comes to people I don’t know, I try to be more like character #2…~

My fav, Shiki.

I put her as number 2 because I’m not exactly the same as her. I don’t know fashion, have never cared much about my looks or stuff like that compared to another, and… well basically, the main point of her character arc doesn’t quite fit me.

But what does is her heart.

Shiki is always a kind person, even to someone who treated her bad at first. She always tries to see the best in others, and she never gives up on people. I strive to be like that, even if I don’t always reach it. And back when I was more confident, I actually was the one who reached out to people first (as Kazea could tell you >.>’~). Sometimes, I still do that… I’m just not as confident with it as I used to be. DX’~

But yeah, even with the people I don’t get along with, I can usually see the best in them, or at least understand why they see things the way they do. And like Shiki, there comes a point where I do need to stand up for myself if I also feel disrespected… though I’m also quick to forgive and give another chance, too.

…All that said, when it comes to my writing projects, I’m the Eri who creates with no regard~ while Kazea’s definitely Shiki, noticing all my little mistakes. …and I don’t know what Sair is in that now, actually…??

But anyway, I’m sadly not as perfect as Shiki (or Nagi) in understanding others, ‘cause sometimes I do get salty and too into my online world, much like our boy Rindo~

…….and then while I try to understand others, I also tend to really suck at opening up and actually talking about my own emotions like Fret. Especially when I’m around people I don’t know well enough for that.

@anomalystudy is our Marbles guy! But I'm happy to offer my independent interpretation.

Marbles is about 60 in canon. His first name is Elgin and he's from Mount Olympus. He originally worked for Zeus, but was recruited alongside Archimedes to work for Motherboard by a time traveling Ada Lovelace who worried that there would not always be a human technician around able to maintain things and Cyberspace stood a better chance if it could be self sufficient. It was this same mindset that eventually led Marbles to build Hacker, a borg designed especially to be technician to Cyberspace, meaning he would be more competent at the job that anyone else (at least theoretically).

Marbles takes a lot of pride in his job and is extremely loyal to Motherboard. Hacker likes to call him Motherboard's yes-man and there's a lot of resentment from Hacker towards his creator for that. Like Hacker, Marbles has a lot of self importance, although with Marbles it is less destructive and more of him being proud of his role and the honor of it. He takes it extremely seriously and can't understand why Hacker isn't able to do the same.

After Hacker's rebellion, he attempted to work with Ava of Symmetria to make bot version of himself in order to replace him instead of trying to make another Hacker who also may not listen. So far the project has not been very successful since the Marblelettes break too easily and have limited functions.

Archimedes and Marbles were classmates in college. They were very close friends although very different. Archimedes is generally more open minded and not the type to rock the boat. He does know how to stand up for himself, but knows the proper time to do it versus letting things go to keep peace. He has very low social energy and prefers to be alone most of the time.

He is obsessed with Sherlock Holmes and making pastries. Hacker loves his pastries. Unlike Marbles, he is also a bit of a fan of Isosceles Jones and still has a good friendship with him though he doesn't love him as much as Hacker does.
