Under the cut bc I rambled so goddamn much

My first impression: "oh...oh wait help her voice is so soft, oh she had a panic attack at her entrance exam? Oh baby 🥺"

My impression now: "that's my GIRL, that's my GIRL, she's got a gun and a magical punching spell and she's gonna kill everyone who hurts her or her friends"

Favorite thing about that character: She's so endlessly caring. She's been put through the absolutely wringer and yes, she's guarded about it. But she's so, so kind. She has downtime and she offers to clean her friend's closet or throw an ice cream party. She uses her jacket that can produce anything (under 10 gold) and 90% of the time uses it to get stuff for her friends. She's three for three on helping redeem wizard antagonists, she's amazing

Least favorite thing: It's more least favorite in that I love her so much, I want her to have nice things? But narratively, it makes sense. She's so guarded and independent because she's had to be. And so that means now she struggles to accept help and open herself up especially to parental affection. And it just breaks my heart, seeing how far she's come but how far she has to go to let herself be loved the way she deserves.

Favorite line/scene: Her and Aelwyn in sophomore year is imprinted on my brain forever. In Fallinel wizard jail, holding the broken shell of her big sister in Kei Lumenura, the confrontation in the nightmare forest. "I do not love our parents and though you have not earned it? I do love you." TEARS. EVERY TIME.

Runner up goes to any scene with her and Jawbone - the iconic "You're not a coward, Adaine, you're just sick, you need medicine!" and the equally iconic "You're easy to love. And anyone who couldn't figure that out is a real bozo."

Third place goes to the ping pong table scenes, both of them. The amount of times I quote "ONE GUY OFFERED ME DIAMONDS AND I RAN AWAY" in dms is so funny

Also obviously "MAGIC IS REAL AND SO IS MY FROG!!!!!!!"

Favorite interaction that character has with another: beyond the above examples with her and Aelwyn, her and Jawbone, and her and Oisin? It's so silly but I'll always have a soft spot for her and Zayn in the opening to sophomore year. "You may absolutely tread upon my sanctum santorum!"

Also ofc any interaction with her and Ayda so I'm SO glad we got that moment in junior year where they were shading each other. Their friendship means the fucking world to me. They made each other spells, I'm forever tender about that

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: After junior year, I have to say Sandra Lynn! Their scene was incredibly sweet!! She's her dad's girlfriend and the closest thing to a mother figure she has, they deserve to have a moment! Also in a similar vein, Tracker! Tracker is not only her adoptive cousin but also her former roommate - she lived with Tracker nearly as long as she's lived with Kristen and about as long as she's lived with Fig, I'm so curious about their dynamic.

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: it's not at all a one to one but my immediate thought was Annette Dominic. Just? Idk something about incredibly studious girls who don't know how to relax and just be kids, who had to grow knowing they were abandoned or neglected by their parents and had to find the love they deserve in a group of school friends? Idk!! I think they'd be friends. Adaine would offer to kill Gilbert

A headcanon about that character: Though it's her legal name, Adaine doesn't really refer to herself as an O'Shaughnessy, mostly out of habit. At her college graduation ceremony, she insists on being announced as Adaine Abernant-O'Shaughnessy. Jawbone cries.

A song that reminds of that character: So I haven't started her playlist and didn't wanna just pull something from mine and Nick's ship playlist for her and Oisin, so I just looked on Spotify and 🥺 Someone gave her Waiting on a Miracle from Encanto and that breaks my heart, so I have to say that one.

An unpopular opinion about that character: I'm ambivalent on the glasses. I like her with or without them. I know most folks seem to think that's just canon but personally I'm way more team "Riz definitely has a tail" than "Adaine definitely has glasses"

she's definitely a bookworm, my personal headcanon is reading has helped her escape from a lot of traumas she's gone through so if she's ever dealing with night terrors, or just struggling with bad memories from the past, she always reads a book to escape🥰

she LOVES to gamble for sure (which i think we all know as she literally is playing tarot canonically in the show) but she loves gambling, poker (especially strip poker with a spouse😏), tarot of course, black jack, she loves it alllll.

despite being mostly introverted, she loves going to clubs, especially with a spouse or friend, and she defo is a regular at a strip club, especially when we know she's a regular at the local brothel. we all know she loves women for sure, so looking at beautiful women definitely is an idea of a good time for her.

Stone Ocean things I would have liked to see, as a Floridian:

—forgetting that it’s winter because it’s literally 70 degrees. 80 degrees on Christmas isn’t uncommon but it is disappointing every time it happens

—blaming deaths on not just alligators, but also pythons (works well around the Everglades)

—the fashion sense of the characters actually isn’t that far off

—they must say “y’all”

—unless it’s in South FL you’ll be seen as a traitor

—walking outside in summer and being hit with a miasma of mosquitos and heat and moisture that will make you feel like you’re being eaten alive (because you are being eaten alive)

—hitting someone with your car is so easy with wet roads

—FL judicial system is on fleek and after all the crazy shit people do lawyers are so done with us

—strip malls. No one goes there except middle aged mothers shopping for shoes or perfume.

—The real teenage hangout place is Walmart. I am not joking. I have been there many times after school and on weekends and every single time we’d go there were other kids our age.

—we don’t even buy anything most times we just walk around

—everyone is poor af unless you’re south (Miami and the Keys)

—in Miami/Tampa/Jax or any big city people also won’t go to strip malls because there’s a 50/50 on whether or not they get shot up

—we hunt pythons seasonally since they are invasive, you can win prizes for this. I feel like Jolyne and Ermes would enjoy that hobby

—four-wheeling. More of a southern USA thing as a whole, but there are miles of open tracks to take your ATV out to. Very fun with friends where you can race and see who DOESNT stall their four wheeler in a lake

—snakes in the backyard, they’re EVERYWHERE. Could have been so easy for them to chase an albino Burmese python thinking it was White Snake 😭

—toads coming out at the beginning of spring and making every little kid so happy that they have prey again, Emporio is def a frog hunter

—when the toads are hibernating we go after lizards instead, Emporio again is def a lizard hunter

—the monkeys loose in the woods. I’ll let you research that on your own.

—thrift stores are full of winter clothing because of all the northerners who migrate down here, Weather Report must have gotten only those 💀

—you’ll know a prison is nearby because there will be a road sign saying “don’t stop for hitchhikers”

—There is no such thing as a clean beach

—marshland is more common than dirt

—“dirt” here is basically just sand there are zero minerals in it so it’s hella hard to farm

—DUST. EVERYWHERE. BUT ITS ALSO SO HOT YOULL DIE. BUT ITS ALSO WET SO YOULL MELT.

—humidity is constantly over 80%, that means you’re going to sweat no matter what you do

—and for last, the Florida man “memes” aren’t memes at all. That’s actually what people are like here. We have had kids expelled for slashing tires, we have had people arrested for driving gaming chairs, we have had snakes eat people whole.

Florida is literally hell itself.

I keep thinking about wanting to be a big girl and packing a stuffie to go explore the woods on my own while Daddy’s at work. Everything’s so pretty and beautiful in nature but then I realize I’m lost and scared. Panicked I trip over a rock scuffing my knee as I fall. I start crying and all the sudden my skirt is soaked. Daddy forgot to put me in nappies! Ok well maybe I was being fussy and told him I’m a big girl butt now I’m all wet 😫.

All the sudden I hear your voice say, “hey! Hey! Are you ok?” I sniffle a bit as you reach out your hand and say “here” with a smile so beaming I can’t help but smile a little back. Shouting after your daddy you take my hand as we skip back. He looks at you confused but then laughs saying how you always make friends wether it’s with animals or people wherever you go. Then turns to me concerned “are you lost?” I just nod my head a little ashamed I thought I could be so big. He sighs asking gently “and you made a mess?” I hang my head even lower and am about to start crying again before you pipe up “Here you can have some of mine!” Your daddy smiles at you not surprised with how sweet you are for sharing your own clothes. He turns to me and says “ok let’s get you cleaned up.” Wiping mean clean and putting a fresh diaper on me. I start to feel better. You help me with the snaps on the jumper then you turn toward your Daddy and ask, “ok! Now can we go play?” He chuckles and nods, “just not too far away.”

We laugh giddily running. We skip rocks, look for frogs, throw leaves in the air. When we get higher up we pretend we are the birds in the sky as we feel the wind under are wings. Lifting are arms we soar with a “woosh” sound. As it starts to get late your daddy says “ok it’s time to go!” Still laughing I recite where my Daddy and I live with a smile from a fun day. As we get closer I start to realize how late it’s gotten. Daddy probably got home from work awhile ago. I start panicking you grab my hand and say “hay it’s ok!” We pull up to the house and I see my Daddy on the phone on the front porch looking worried. All the sudden I start to rush up to him sobbing blubbering “Daddyyy”. Daddy looks so relived he grabs me into his arms holding me tightly. Daddy looks so relieved he pulls me back looks at my face asking question after question “baby girl where were you? Are you ok?” Daddy wipes the tears from my cheeks and looks at me concerned and relieved.

Daddy listens to me as I blubber on about “woods and I thought I was a big girl and-” Daddy starts to give me a stern look like he does when I’ve been naughty and am about to get a spanking. But instead Daddy’s face lightens back to relief as he pulls me closer just happy I’m safe and in his arms. Your daddy steps out of the car with you holding his hand as he walks up to explain our adventures. Daddy invites everyone inside for cookies and refreshments. I can hear my Daddy thanking yours profusely for taking care of me and how I never wander off like that and he was so scared. All while I show you all my toys excitedly! Soon we’re getting sleepy watching cartoons and your daddy comes in to scoop you up. My Daddy walks up to you and says “your daddy told me all about how brave and kind you were! Thank you so much for taking care of and helping my little girl!”

My eyes barely open I see your daddy carrying you to the door and go “aww does she have to go?” My Daddy gives me a kiss on the forehead and says “yes baby all daddy’s have to tuck their baby girl in at night. But we still have to give back the clothes she so nicely lent you since you made a mess in yours.” Daddy looks down at me with a smile and says “her daddy was saying how much fun you two and setting up a play date-” I start to beam with a smile before Daddy interjects with, “-if you are a good girl!” I nod my head profusely excited I have a new friend! 🥰

As the moonlight illuminated the pool and the garden along with the other lamps, Ryu looked at the boy with blonde braided hair. How many hours had he been sitting there? How many hours had he not talked to anyone? What should he do? Would talking to him make him feel better ?

Ryu had known Takahide since middle school. It was as if their same careers told him every day that this was their destiny.

The young boy's cheerful side, talent, sweetness and the warm smile that always greeted him... Ryu knew how hard he was going through it all. While his shy and reserved personality made everything difficult, Taka was always there for him.

A friend who holds his hand when he is afraid of heights, makes him laugh with his ridiculous jokes, and makes him feel loved when he suddenly wraps his arms around him from behind.

Ryu knew that he always needed Takahide. And he was there for him whenever he needed him.

So this time they had to switch roles. He would manage to make the most important person in his life smile.

He ran to the top floor of the big house where they came to shoot the music video and opened his suitcase. Seeing him running excitedly in the corridor, Shogo and Riku looked on in surprise while Zin warned him not to fall.

He took the fluffy blanket in his suitcase and the plushie frog that Takahide had bought him years ago and ran back to the garden.

Takahide was silently watching the water by the pool in the garden. He was startled when something was placed on his shoulders and at the same time a pair of arms wrapped around his neck from behind. When he slowly turned his head, a small smile appeared on his face when he saw that it was his best friend and he was hugging him tightly.

"What are you doing ? We could both fall into the water."

The young boy's voice was not angry. If he wasn't upset, Ryu might even be sure he was joking.

When Ryu shrugged and sat next to the young boy, Takahide gave a small smile again when he looked at the small blanket placed on his shoulder. And he slowly wrapped himself in the blanket.

"Thank you"

Ryu nodded at his friend's low voice. He watched the water silently for a while. He knew he had to say something. He was just having trouble finding the right words.

“Takahide.”

When the young boy slowly turned his head, he saw the taller boy looking at the ground. But the moment the blonde turned to him, he too looked into his eyes.

The blonde boy looked at his friend in surprise. He didn't know what to say for a while. When he didn't speak, Ryu continued.

The tall one shook his head as Takahide said.

When Takahide looked at him in surprise at the slightly rising voice of the boy next to him, Ryu shook his head.

“You are perfect Takahide. I envy you. You have a natural talent. I feel mesmerized watching you. Fans feel that way too. But you treat yourself so badly even for the slightest mistake... You don't deserve this.”

Takahide said nothing.

"I am thankful to you. You were always there for me. What if you were not…. I don't know if I would have seen these days without you."

"Do you remember our first big fight?"

The braided one nodded and Ryu smiled.

“At least you didn't throw a pillow at my face, right?”

Ryu said with a smile, making Takahide chuckle at the memory. Hearing the sweet giggle of the young boy after hours, the tall boy also smiled widely.

“Thank you Ryu… I'm grateful too. Because I know you will always be there for me.”

Takahide smiled and patted the young boy's head as Ryu shyly hugged the blonde's arm.

“You're a big baby, aren't you?”

When Ryu laughed and nodded, he remembered the plushie he had hidden behind his back and handed it to Taka.

“You gave it to me to hold when you couldn't be there…”

Takahide smiled and took the plush frog from his friend's hand and hugged it. He too was grateful for everything, even though Ryu didn't know it. He also thought that everything was fate. Because he knew that if it wasn't for Ryu, he wouldn't be able to make it either...

You’re always surprised when Keigo opts to walk instead of fly, but he insisted you see the scenery up close.

You’re thankful for it. The ponds and flora are gorgeous, and the trail isn’t difficult. Leisurely more than anything.

During lulls in conversation you can hear the croaking of frogs and melodic birdsong. It’s nice. Peaceful. Very unlike the fast-paced adventures you’re used to having with your boyfriend.

“I figured we could both use a little break,” Keigo says. “Pretty rare we get to do stuff like this.”

“Funny coming from you, Mr. Gotta-go-fast,” you tease.

“Well…” he pauses and for the first time today, Keigo hoists you into the air to fly you both to the top of a private observation deck.

The higher view is breathtaking. You’re able to see so much. When you glance at Keigo, though, his gaze is fixed solely on you.

I used to always try to come up with some answer to this to please people but i didnt have one past 3rd grade bc i absolutely detested school, the educational systems and academia so fuck no, no favorite subjects. Fuck schools.

(The one good school i went to grade pre till 3rd i enjoyed also had really good pedagogists. In 3rd grade i think i loved math the most bc my teacher designed individual plans for us and my classmate and i raced to finish higher level work, in 2nd i think it was the class where we read and wrote and were creative like think tank and reading dino topia and writing our own magical treehouse, in 1st grade it was science and experementing and the frogs and butterfly class.

On my own time i watched so many animal rescue shows and nation geography and we had so many of their magazines and natyre magazines my mother got that were sorted out from the library. And i read a lot of history books about ancient and pre-historic times and different cultures and that was great. I was also obsessed with animals and read cyclodpedias and had them quickly memorized. But by the time i was 9 i was too depressed and i dont know shit anymore my brain too forgetful

and that's why i'm so mad about the school systems bc i truly loved, loved learning. But even the good school would give me failing grades for my social behavior. And without ranting even further, lets just say math used to be like breathing for me and now i can barely put 48+32 together without a calculater anymore bc my brain is so dead

So much more complicated issues yeah but school still makes me so fucking mad)

somehow i got lucky and i kinda ended up in the field of my dream job: vet tech/nurse

Because apparently this account is now for random movie rambles as I rewatch films for the 100th time-

A watch through of Princess and the Frog:

Anyone else think it is hella suspicious that someone wanted that sugar mill only after she wanted to buy it?

- After the movie was done, it was explained to me by friends that this is a common scam to squeeze more money, especially targeted against POC potential buyers. No one else was bidding, they just wanted more money. My child brain just didn’t fit that together the first couple watch throughs- I mean, they clearly still had it for sale a long time later in order to be threatened at the end of the film… assholes.

Gathering a group of travelers by appealing to thier dreams is a very American story, Ala Wizard of Oz- the idea of the individual goals. This is Naveen, Tiana, and Louis. But then comes Ray, who is just trying to be helpful. That feels more old world, and he leads them to the old world magic- the woman of power in the wilderness. :)

Lawrence was frightened by the idea of a controlling wife, while Naveen was impressed with a well thrown book, and Tiana had dreams that included showing all the boys how it’s done. And her friend is very commandeering, and the object of all the men. There’s a theme of strong women and respect for them here- which makes sense. 1920s fairytales are just out of the Victorian era and the invention of the fairy godmother. And here comes Mama Odie. She even has the mother title.

Naveen and Tiana are so perfect for eachother. Beyond him being ok with her ambition and hustle, she needs his people skills for her resteraunt- you need a front man 😁

First time I can think of in a Disney film that an outside perspective for love song had thier own love to sing about 💘

Every good char in this movie is immediately willing to help someone out, even when- especially when- it inconveniences them. That is how you let your characters be very strong characters, even occasionally overwhelming other characters, and still be good people and likeable. This is how we bond with Lotti, and then Naveen, despite them having domineering personalities.

The way Naveen admires things about Tiana even before he likes her- then when he loves her, the way his face lights up as he watches her.

Anyone else think froggy Naveen is based a little on John Bob from Swan Princess? Those leg spots look familiar is all I am saying.

Most important line- “He didn’t get what he wanted, but he had what he needed” was given to her by her mother, who also introduced her to the upper class of town. He mother was so important to this story.

The marrying of Lotty is very “old chivalry” anything for my lady, while the tale itself is very peasant tale of pulling together to get through. As many American tales do, you gotta get ALL the tropes in there. 🪄

Ray is such a well designed character. He is wise, and has common sense, and allies and skills, and LIGHT to oppose the shadows- and they balance it by making him small and fragile. Is… is he the wizard of the party? Not nessisarily in the DND way that is very academically type, but in the LOTR classic fantasy way, that makes one member of the group to be the big support to everyone else, but can also be fridged when needed. 😅🥲 Brings wisdom and all else you need but destined to go out ina blaze of glory???

Happy that his parents seemed to be- “finally someone took him in hand” and could care less about her social position.

First time this white girl heard Neo was sitting through the credits of this film in the theaters. Still love his music. 🎶

Not sure why I never posted these but I was in Niagara Falls with a friend for the eclipse back in early April.

The falls were WAY more spectacular than I thought they'd be! Like the American Falls (on the left in the second pic) was by far the biggest waterfall I've ever seen in person...until you look a few feet to the right and see the Horseshoe Falls that utterly dwarfs it to insignificance 🤯

Key note though if you ever visit: Stay on the Canadian side. It's way cheaper and you can see way more of the falls. You can't even see the American Falls while in the US really.

We also saw the much smaller Eternal Flame Falls on our way south trying to avoid the clouds during the eclipse. It was a nice short but muddy/wet hike. Like barely 30min. The flame is from seeping natural gas from all the shale in the area.

We did eventually come up to some patchy bits of sunshine around when totality was going to happen but in the last 5 min a thin cloud got in the way. You could still see the sun through it and during totality you could see the black void in the sky with a ring of light around it...but I didn't have the heart to tell him that he missed out on seeing the ungulating corona that you could see if the cloud wasn't there.

The horizon on lake Erie did go full sunset and back within a few minutes in the middle of the day, it got super dark and cold, the birds stopped chipping and frogs started croaking like mad instead which is always, well, eerie. I really love that apocalyptic feeling that an eclipse in full totality gives you 🌚🎇🥰 It's a mix of dread, panic, and excitement of seeing the natural world go bizarre for a few minutes. Nothing like it. When the light reverted so did the animals. I imagine it must be really confusing to them.

I will say that the Baily's beads effect was less painful and more spectacular to see with the cloud there. Like the brightest diamond or the biggest flashlight you've ever seen...so there's that.

Of course the day before and the day after the eclipse there wasn't a cloud in the sky 🌞

The next one to pass into the contiguous US won't be for another 20 years (Aug. 23, 2044) and will only hit two states, MT and ND but I'll definitely be there if not into Canada to get my 3rd one in!

- Shirabu's family is the FIRST people to the hospital after the news and Shirabu himself is the first at Oikawa's side

- Shirabu's upset, if not a little mad, at Oikawa

- He would tell them when they were kids that volleyball wasn't everything and that he should try to relax. Oikawa would always snap back and tell him that books weren't everything either

- It was all just bickering when they were kids, they got over it in about five minutes

- But this argument was REAL, like REALLY REAL

- They were SCREAMING at each other IN the HOSPITAL

- They had complaints from other rooms and nurses had to come and calm them both down

- Shirabu's family left not too long after that, and Shirabu and Oikawa didn't interact with each other for quite a while after that

- They don't speak until the first STZW game during Shirabu's first year.

- Oikawa there ofc, AJ has games to win too.

- And let me tell you how MAD he was, seeing his baby cousin (AND TAICHI! TWO LITTLE TRAITORS!) strutting around in a STZW jacket

- He almost had a heart attack

- Iwaizumi had to fan him back to life. He's got a bit more sense than Oikawa. He goes up to Shirabu (with a suspicious looking Oikawa behind him)

I know I m over panicking but the drop in ratings for 1st ep got me so worried that the show ll be c worded. I heard it’s also because they change it to Tuesday night and competing with two other popular shows. Are there any chances of the ratings increasing, does that happen after the 1st episode of a built show? I m not so sure how TV ratings works so would be nice if someone can give some hopes 😂 I can’t be stressing out over Carlos secret marriage and the ratings too 😭

i get nervous with low watch ratings too, but to make it less scary i will break it down.

so basically prime time television ratings use the amount of american households with people in their target demographic (18-45 i believe) to come up with these crazy numbers that scare us so bad, but it takes into account the amount of people who watched live (with a tv service provider and not a stream) and around the first 8 hours of it being up on a streaming service (hulu). this means that the numbers they are looking at are everyone who watched that night or immediately the next day, not how many people watch all time.

i will say though, yeah, season 4 is lower than usual, but there are tons of contributing factors to that. I have a friend who couldn’t watch on tuesday because he had work when he didn’t on mondays. people might not know about or work as well with the day switch, and honestly, people might just be busy. it’s important not to panic over a low watch rate for the immediate 24 hours after a show airs, because while it shows how many people made it a priority to watch, it doesn’t show the amount of people who maybe woke up late and watched after the cutoff.

i fully believe that, after the season gets going again, and word gets around again, (and the promos get more enticing because come on frogs falling from the sky was WACK), we’ll start getting higher numbers.

plus, and this is so very optimistic of me to say, even if my heart hurts to say it: we are guaranteed seventeen more episodes no matter what. the wedding is going to be one of them. i am at peace.
