49 (last time it was 46 but i feel like that isn't enough of a difference? disappointed in myself dfhskjh)

1,119,086 which does include some co-writes, but I also have around 200k of unposted WIP in my google docs so i'm counting it (including a fully written fic - someone put their hands around my neck and force me to edit it PLEASE).
3. Which fandoms do you write for?
red white and royal blue, 911 lone star, top gun maverick (flirting with winter's orbit always)

i try my absolute best to. i am currently really behind and i apologise for that (the problem is, i reply to comments before i post anything and i haven't posted anything in ages).
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
serious answer - Contaminated
my answer - oh baby i'm a fool for you because we never find out if they actually watch twilight and that's a damn shame
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
literally everything else - i don't really do open endings or sad endings! in the words of the great philosopher, skepta: "nah, that's not me."
8. Do you get hate on fics?
i used to, but i haven't in ages! thank god for that.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes, although i have to say i've been moving away from pwp lately. i feel my best smut is written into longer fics where the sex serves a plot or characterisation purpose within the frame of the overarching narrative.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
yes, a RWRB/LS but i never finished it. ALTA is a veronica mars inspired tarlos fic which kind of feels like a crossover at times.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge :)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes! Phonography (Lone Star) has been translated, as has Baby, Make Your Move (Lone Star) and Warm Whispers (Lone Star). I'm very grateful to the incredible people who have made these translations happen - you are so talented.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
yes, many with @dustratcentral. I also wrote a chapter of a co-written fic with a whole bunch of incredible RWRB authors called never the same twice.
@rmd-writes and I have created (Un)Professional Services and (upcoming) Call Me (By Your Name).
The Rainbow Fish was co-written with @strandnreyes.
I love co-writing so much and I am always open to anyone who wants to give it a go!

me + my unposted wips.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
probably the aforementioned crossover which was apparently also my answer last time.

i'm allergic to giving myself compliments but i would say maybe dialogue/banter and worldbuilding.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
keeping things short. also, exposition.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
kinda scared to because i don't speak any other languages and i'm so hesitant to annoy my very talented multi-lingual friends with my annoying questions.

probably still Love Game because the experience was just so amazing and i never wanted to stop writing it.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't tend to write angsty endings. That being said, this Check, Please! ficlet I wrote for @shygryf is very angsty: Hotel Room, Mar. 1 (I did fix it with a later ficlet, but on it's own...)
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of them tbh. I'm an unrepentant happy ending lover.
Do you get hate on fics?
Nothing that comes to mind--I've been extremely lucky. I've gotten some baffling ones and some with a strange tone, but I think that's more down to English not being their first language, not hate.
Do you write smut?
Yes.
Craziest crossover:
I tend toward fusions/AUs rather than actual crossovers. Although there are Check Please! easter eggs in the Going Platinum universe.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of, although I would hope that any translator would have let me know so that I can flail in overwhelmed gratitude.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet, although there's one that's been sitting for a year-ish that I'm gonna be really excited to finally get to.
All time favorite ship?
I won't choose and you can't make me.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Not right now. All the wips I've got that are more than just like, one line or a title, I'm really excited about writing and sharing.
What are your writing strengths?
Immersive descriptions, humor, and metaphors. This bitch loves a metaphor.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Action scenes. I'm getting better, but any time I have a particularly big action scene I beg on my knees for @cha-melodius to get into the doc.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
Only If I feel confident about the translation. I'll usually get a native speaker to check it over if it's more than an easy phrase I already know/can google, especially if it's a whole conversation.

I have had an anon throw a tomato emoji at one of my fics, which still stuns me. I used to get significantly more hate when I was writing in more problematic fandoms… 😅 but if you want to read the fic where Alex bottoms for the first time, and I got this comment, where they not only flung produce but also… felt the need to censor the word “top” for… reasons:

Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge. Fic (and fandom) are pretty reductive though. For example, I know that there’s someone writing a King Henry AU for @aroyallybigbangrwrb, and I’ve been working on my own King Henry AU since last September. There will probably be some similarities; can’t be helped. I’m not worried about it though, unless there are wholesale chunks of paragraphs that are somehow magically identical.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don’t believe so, but I have a blanket permission statement on my AO3 account, so if someone wanted to translate my work I’d be down!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Eons ago, I used to co-write Kurtofsky fic in the Glee fandom. Pretty sure all of those works have been lost to the ether, as this was before AO3 was absorbing archives as they went kaput. I’m not completely heartbroken about it.
All time favorite ship?
Darcy/Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice. No, I’m not kidding.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a couple really old WIPs from previous fandoms that I put a lot of work into, and then the ADHD took hold before I could complete them. It would be interesting, at the very least, to revisit these. Maybe retool them into something usable for this fandom, IDK.
What are your writing strengths?
Making people absolutely collapse in a heap of devastation with my angst, as @hgejfmw-hgejhsf, @kiwiana-writes, and @ad-astra13 will attest; smut with “multiple different positions laid out in such detail you can almost see the gifs used as reference,” according to @bigassbowlingballhead. I also like to think that my spicy trauma makes me pretty funny.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Brevity — given the option, I’d rather write 5k words than a drabble every time. I also really struggle with saccharine sweetness and fluff for the sake of fluff, despite what y’all keep saying in my comments section; my sweetness is always bittersweet. And kidfic gives me the ick, as the youths would say, even if I’m the one writing it.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
Yes! Just make it something that I can Google Translate and I’m good.
Which fandom was the first you wrote in?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, way back in the 1990s. (Yeah. I’m that old.)
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
So, I have two. My favorite fic overall is my King Henry AU, Facing Tempests. I affectionately refer to this fic as KHIX (King Henry IX) and The Big Giant AU, and it’s my baby. I’ve commissioned some really incredible art from @seanchaidh7 for Facing Tempests that I can’t wait to share with y’all when the fic is ready to post.
My favorite published fic is If We’re Caught in a Wave, I Will Carry You Over, for which I commissioned some absolutely stunning art from @artofobsession which is now embedded in the story on AO3. There are several other fics that come close, but octoHenry is my beloved.

This is the question that reminds me I've done this game before hehe. I'm only interested in happy endings so this is hard to choose, but Don't Wanna Be A Fool For You is quite angsty and ends just as they're getting over the angst, so I have to go with that.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I always write happy endings, BUT, if I must choose, I'm gonna go with a non-RWRB fic here. in your room, like a temple is an epilogue of sorts to A Marvellous Light, and it makes me SO HAPPY to have written this settled future for Robin and Edwin.

Not usually, though I did get a couple of annoying comments on my first threesome fic from people who thought their own vision of monogamy for Alex and Henry was something they had to come and tell me about 🙄

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Oooh, I don't have any WIPs on ao3 to feel guilty about. What sits on my hard drive is between me and my atheist god (also me)
What are your writing strengths?
Yikes, ok! Here are things I like about my writing: I like the way I write smut that's super emotional AND super hot, and all the different ways I've come up to make smut scenes different from each other (because writing them can sometimes feel repetitive from my perspective). I like the way I play with rhythm in sentences and build tension in scenes. I like the way I build emotional and sexual tension in a piece overall. Please no one drop into the notes to tell me they disagree 😂
What are your writing weaknesses?
I CANNOT come up with external obstacles! Whenever I'm trying to plot something out and I'm trying to come up with BIG PLOT REASONS to keep people apart, my brain just freezes. I love internal obstacles, the emotional reasons why people choose to do the things they do, but as for external things to move the plot along (think Jeffrey Richard leaking emails, Queen Mary telling Henry how to live his life) I'm just... ultimately uninterested in them. Which is fine if it's a choice, and I love a lot of writing just like that, but I wish my brain could at least TRY.

Like it.

RWRB
Favorite fic you've written?
Haha good one. Changes all the time. Current fave: Paper Chains, I think (a personal stab to my heart how much it's underrated). I tried something new for me with the structure, and I think the emotional punches hit so hard, I'm so proud of it. Or maybe the new one for RBB, called Foxden Park. Coming soon!

The Hoku was a McDanno future fic, post-apocalypse story. So, it had a hopeful ending despite the very bleak world it was set in.

Recently? my Buddie fic We’ve Got Fun & Games
Which was if the 118 did a local Amazing Race competition for charity. It was a hoot!
Do you get hate on fics? I’ve gotten people who try to argue with me or leave unpleasant comments in the bookmark section.

What are your writing weaknesses? I’m mildly dyslectic so word order and weird grammar. It also takes me forever to write.

ooh I can't usually do angsty endings so I'm carving my own loophole here -- the first two fics in the sex curse series are definitely my most angsty endings before they work their shit out in the third skjdhsjkhd

oh gosh I'm not sure. I HOPE I finish them all but I also have an obscene amount so ksjhdksjdhf not crossing anything off yet!
what are your writing strengths?
I think dialogue? it's always the part of my fics that I write first, and then I build the rest of the story around it. I hope it's a solid foundation!
what are your writing weaknesses?
there's a fine line between explaining and over-explaining and I think sometimes I fall into the second category skjdhkjhf. I love some introspection as much as the next guy but I'm working on only including details that feel most pertinent to the story.
thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I love it! I think it can be so special and can be another way to connect readers with the characters and the story. I took Spanish all four years of high school so I'm a little rusty now, and studied French for a while a few years ago and just picked it back up recently! my translations aren't always perfect but luckily I've had some very kind people to check or point these things out for me :)

Jaina jerked awake, her eyes adjusting to the darkness around her. Forehead damp with sweat and momentarily disoriented, she struggled to recall her surroundings. As he packed their few belongings, he cursed himself, effusively, in the most colorful and obscene words the Pawnee and English languages had to offer. He had let his guard down, had allowed himself to look at the future, take the tiniest glimpse as to what it may hold, and spoken as lightly as he felt, sitting here, with the beautiful Lady Cornelia Locke at his arm, the woman with the sky in her eyes, magic on her tongue, and too much kindness for one heart. Kindness, because he did not allow himself to think of it with the same word he felt in his. How it coursed into everything she touched, turning it to shimmering gold, bringing life back where there had only been cold, barren ground for over a decade of mourning and solitude.
Without remembering, in that instant of gleaming bliss, where all that kindness stemmed from. How only that other word would describe its source. How fresh its own loss was, the wound still bleeding and raw. How cruel it was of him to come near it, and dare to touch it. He had regretted the words the instant she had heard them; had added others to soften the blow, to prevent the barricade from coming back up. And it had not. Had no need to. The gold had tarnished, molten and slipped away, just like the quicksilver in her medicine. Just as toxic to her mind.
“Cornelia, I’m sorry,” he had attempted. “Didn’t think it through.”

ooooh probably other than the writing itself, i really like brainstorming. it’s not necessarily outlining but i’m basically just daydreaming a LOT about the fic. i usually know a fic is a feasible idea if i daydream a lot about it because that means i’m excited enough/interested enough to do it. i also don’t know if this counts but — making playlists. actually tbh i would say it counts because playlists are soooo central to my writing, i will never have a fic without a playlist
74. Do you have a fic you wish got a bit more love?
this is a good question.. hm. i’m torn between frmb and be still, my indelible friend, you are unbreaking. i know it sounds SO weird to say that but while frmb is getting a lot of hits, i don’t see much else in terms of kudos or comments which kind of stinks but i do have you and froggy and some other dedicated readers on wp so it’s ok! it was just something i noticed. it’s also probably the smallness of the reader part of the fandom too.
i guess to REALLY answer the question, it would be be still, my indelible friend, you are unbreaking! i have fun whenever i reread it and i’m like wow this isn’t so bad! but it’s one of my past previously completed fics (like aside from frmb and dgfh) that has the least engagement.
75. Is there a particular fic that readers gravitated towards that you didn't expect?
probably dogfish/like the part of the song where it falls. in the last part, i got a lot of engagement all of a sudden. this is probably just me but my perception of it, as time passed and i was posting it, it kind of soured? i wasn’t as confident as i was beforehand and i was like ‘is this really that good…’ especially since it’s so short! but no i had some comments and kudos on the most recent posted part and i was like Oh. LSKDJDJFNDN so! didn’t expect that sudden burst of interest
#i can give myself some credit in terms of the story itself being not bad as i sometimes feel it is#but also probably the fact that there isn’t a long wait in terms of building up feelings or romance between miyuki and reader#which i’m sure might lend to frmb’s lack of kudos/comments. probably the fact that it’s not just focused on the romance#and maybe the big word count as well#but that’s ok! it’s absolutely ok! i wouldn’t change a thing about frmb and ultimately writing it was an absolute joy#and i know you guys are enjoying it too so that’s all that matters#anyway thank you for your questions cee 🫶🫶❤️🩹❤️🩹#inbox#anon#ask game#cee tag 🪐

Fr though—forget “It’s not that artists feel entitled to comments and shares, it’s that without them we lose motivation to-” ; artists ARE owed positive interaction by people who consume their stuff. It’s not entitlement or pride, its not a superiority complex, it’s not them being a self-important fuck; it’s basic human society functionality and has been for THOUSANDS of years! If you thank someone for dropping a pot roast off at your house, or a birthday gift, if you’re expected to clap at the end of play, and cheer for the musician on stage, even if you /did/ already pay money to see them; if you clap for the public speaker, you pay the street musician if you stop to listen, you thank person who hands you an unexpected gift, or buys you the soda you said you wanted? It’s the exact same damn thing! Gift reciprocity is fundamental to human society. If you accept a gift, you say thanks, in whatever way is societally appropriate. That’s how that shit works. People wonder why art hemorrhages in fandom and it’s because there’s a blockage in the way societal expectations are meant to function. Artists /are not/ acting entitled when they want some kind of acknowledgment. Fans consuming content endlessly without giving anything even a ‘thank you’ back to the person who provided a gift are acting entitled to the gift! And it’s really fucked up people who just fucking, want people who like their art to share it, or leave a tag that says ‘pretty,’ or fucking anything, are viewed as some kind of superiority-complex-overbearing-jagweeds jerking themselves off! No! They’re being COMPLETELY normal and even very understanding! Most artists are fucking meek about being artists and what they want!! Like NINETY-SEVEN percent of them! It’s people who act entitled to an endless supply of free gifts, provided by intense labor and time commitment of others, without even thanking the creators, who are acting like overbearing entitled shits! You’re not some emperor owed mass tribute! Thank some fucking artists!
