I wrote a Tenten x Hiashi Hyuga fanfic. Why? - you might be asking. That's a great question. Either way, here it is, probably the most unhinged crackship I've ever written. And in case this needs emphasis, Ten-ten is in her early-mid 20s when the story takes place. Minor x adult is not my thing. 😶
Summary/Preview:
Jiro was five years old when he first noticed the way his Uncle Hiashi’s gaze lingered over his mother.
His young eyes weren’t blind to how Hiashi’s hands paused for a moment too long when he incidentally brushed her side or hugged her. Though he’d long grasped that his father was a dour-faced man who only existed in pictures, Jiro liked to imagine that Hiashi was his father – and fathers loved mothers.
Hiashi Hyuga becomes a surrogate father to Neji and Ten-ten's son as penance for past wrongs - but it isn't guilt that makes him stay.

Neji Hyuuga x F!Reader Mini Series
Summary: They are poth from prominent families, and Neji is being pushed to marry. He doesn't like the idea of suitors being pushed on him, so he asks you, his long term friend. Not for love, but because he can't really picture marrying a stranger. Will you be able to love your new husband?
No Warnings.
Word Count: 1184
At nearly twenty-one, Neji Hyuga was being pestered by his uncle to get married. He had been accepted as a part of the main branch, and as a male, he had a duty to produce Hyuga heirs. Neji, never being one for romance or copulation, was not a huge fan of this idea, but understood his duties.
The last few weeks they had discussed and met with suitors from other prominent clans in and near the village. He was disinterested for the most part, and had a sense that some of the women were intimidated by him. He couldn't blame them, he was aloof, disinterested, and a ninja to boot.
There was, however, someone who piqued his interest. He hadn't thought about it previous to Hiashi's suggestion. Y/n L/n was a year his junior, a fellow ninja, and a friend. Her family didn't quite rival the Hyuga's status, but they were high enough up that the two would make a suitable match.
Y/n wasn't a super close friend of his, but they had been on missions together and complimented each other fairly well. He would even venture to say he enjoyed working with her. He didn't think that she was much interested in marriage, from their conversations, but he knew her family also followed the tradition of arranged marriages. As the oldest heir, he was sure that she would be pushed to marry soon, too.
The morning after the conversation with Hiashi, he went looking for you. You would be his best option, he decided. You trained most mornings before breakfast, so bright and early he wandered to the training grounds.
He found you easily. You were practicing taijutsu with Tenten. Tenten spotted Neji almost immediately, signaling you to pause when she saw he was approaching you.
You turned around, sweat already on your brow from the mornings workout. You smiled at Neji, bowing slightly to him as he stopped in front of you. You had always liked him in a general way, he was a good comrade and someone you enjoyed working with.
"Tenten, Y/n." He bowed. "I apologize for my interruption. I was hoping to speak to you,"
You made eye contact and you raised your eyebrow. "Um, okay,"
You turned to look at Tenten in question but she just shrugged. "Walk with me, please,"
You followed his lead, walking next to him to the outskirts of the field. "How are you?" He begun.
"Well." You replied, but backtracked. "I could be better, I'm a little stressed that my father is pushing for me to marry, but otherwise I'm doing well." You tucked some stray hair behind your ear, but smiled at him.
Neji widened his eyes in surprise. This was perfect. What better timing could he have?
"It's funny that you say that, actually." He glanced at you through the corner of his eye, averting them when they made contact with yours.
"I came here with a proposition. I'm in the same position that you are. I have considered my options, and if you would, I would like to propose a marriage between us."
You halted midstep, nearly causing yourself to fall. This was not something you thought you would be hearing this morning - not something you thought you would hear from Neji period.
Neji watched you carefully. He had anticipated surprise from you and waited for you to recover.
"Neji, I- What made you come to this conclusion?" You furrowed your brows.
"We work well together, and you are not intimidated by me. You would make a good partner, I think, and it would be better than marrying off to a stranger."
Neji thought you would be a good partner? What? He wasn't wrong about marrying a stranger, though. You had also hated that prospect.
You nodded, straightening your back. "I will think on it and bring this proposal to my father, if it would suit you."
He nodded once, and walked you back to the field in silence. "Thank you, I await your answer."
"Uhhhh, what's that about?" Tenten asked.
"Neji Hyuga just asked to marry me,"
Tenten choked on her own spit, eyes bulging. "What?!"
"I think I'm going to head home, I'm sorry to cut our training short." You started walking back without an answer from her, seeing as she was frozen in shock.
You took the long way home, contemplating. It wouldn't be the worst thing to marry him. Even if he was standoffish, you would marry into a nice family, and your children would be gifted with an incredible jutsu. It was tempting. Not to mention the suitors your father had brought had not seemed keen on such a capable woman. They liked soft things, the ones who stayed soft.
Of course there was nothing wrong with that; having a soft wife. You doubted, however, that they could make you feel safe enough to become soft. And although you were a powerful woman and a skilled ninja, you would like to be soft someday, sometimes. Fall into your femininity. Could Neji be that safe place for you?
You wondered. He was a good man, someone you could easily communicate with, and someone who could offer true protection to your future heirs, and someone who would not doubt your abilities.
By the time you reached the gate to your family home, you had reached a decision. Inside, you walked around to find your father in the garden, enjoying a cup of tea.
"Y/n, you're home early," He smiled warmly at you and gestured to the seat across from him at the stone table. You bowed to him and perched near the edge of your seat, a serious expression masking your features.
"What is it, dear? You aren't going to start complaining again about the suitors you have to meet later, are you?"
"No, actually," You said calmly.
Your father looked at you in surprise, but recovered quickly and smiled with humor and a quirked brow. "Then what is it?"
"Neji Hyuga, standing heir of the Hyuga Clan, has proposed a union between us... And I would like to accept." You placed your chin on your hand delicately.
Your father, who had taken a sip of tea, spluttered, spitting tea everywhere. Between coughs, he asked. "You.. choose.. to accept?"
He beat a fist on his chest, trying to stifle his cough. He took a deep breath. He eyed you almost warily. "I had no idea you had an interest in that boy. He is a comrade of yours, is he not."
"He is. However, I can't say I've really ever held an interest in him. I do believe he and I are compatible, and that we could work very well together in a partnership, as we do in the field." You tried to hide your smile at your father's confusion.
Suddenly, a huge grin broke out on his face. "Then yes, of course I accept! A higher status clan and you are not complaining to me about the arrangement? Yes, this will do quite well." He clapped his hands together once.
"Well, should we go to them and start the arrangements?"

Panda
NejiTen Rated: E for Everyone
Believe it or not, but when Neji was a little boy, he had a teddy bear. That's right. The stone cold, super serious Neji Hyuga had a plushie. The toy bear was one of the few toys he had as a child. The Hyuga clan was very Spartanic when it came to child rearing, and Neji was no exception. And out of the few toys he was allowed, it was that plush bear that he was most fond of.
The bear was a panda, with black ears and limbs and spots over its warm brown eyes while the rest of its body was white. The smile on its muzzle was little but apparent. It wasn't overly joyful, but it was very friendly and welcoming. It was the perfect toy companion for a lone, stoic child like him. When Neji hugged the panda plush, he felt soothed and reassured from its softness and warmth. It almost felt as if the little thing was hugging him back. He felt like he could share anything and everything with his panda bear. He loved his bear and there were times he felt like the bear loved him too. Wholly, unconditionally, and strongly.
When his father died, Neji clung to his panda. There were times he buried his face into the plush and cried and he could feel its soft fur wiping away his tears, pressing itself into his face affectionately. Whatever grief and anger was festering within him, it was calmed by the bear's gentle affection. But, as he got older and his anger and bitterness mixed with his determination and insecurity, he stopped holding on to his panda. It's typical for children to discard their toys as they grow and mature, and that was something Neji did. He put the bear in a box along with most of his childhood belongings that he no longer wanted and gave it to his uncle, Hiashi. Hiashi knew the sentiment his nephew felt towards the panda, or at least used to. And for whatever reason, he decided to put the panda bear in the attic with the rest of the family's nostalgic belongings. There, the little toy was left untouched, mostly forgotten. But not completely. Not forever.
Hiashi remembered the panda bear vividly. And it seemed like Neji still did as well. It seemed as if he hadn't gotten over his fondness for pandas entirely either. That is what Hiashi concluded as he pondered over his nephew's new warm and soft companion. Only this one was very real, very much alive. And she wasn't a panda, not a plush one or a real one, though she was very much like one. Which is probably a reason why Neji developed a soft spot for her in the first place. She had the same warm brown eyes, the same tender smile, the same comforting embraces...and perhaps not the same ears, but she did wear two buns in her hair that could easily remind one of a panda bear's round, soft ears. This new 'panda' that Neji found comfort and love in when she held him, when he rested his head on her shoulder or in her lap, when she gave him a kiss on the cheek or lips, was named Tenten. And, frankly, she was far better than any bear in the world. That wasn't Hiashi's opinion, no. That was Neji's. He knew that very well. And he had no intention of ever leaving her behind or forgetting her and the happiness and love she made him feel.

“You have shed a thousand skins to become the person you are today.” Hanabi was smart. Sharp as the weapons she’s wielded since she was able to walk, the second daughter of the Hyuuga Head has little patience for the ploys of those around her. Whether her family or S Rank Missing-nin...She’d destroy them all.

Neji x (Y/N) - Part 10 * The end
Sypnosis: And in the end…
Part 1 – Part 2 – Part 3 – Part 4 – Part 5 – Part 6 – Part 7 – Part 8 – Part 9
 Hinata sighed at the doorframe of Neji’s bedroom. She could only see his back, but his slumped shoulders gave away his mood.
“Brother” she called softly before approaching a bit to the bed “we have to go”.
Neji turned a bit his head to see that Hinata was already dressed in black. They had to go to the cemetery to play their respects to all the people who have lost their lives in the war.
“I’ll be in a minute” he murmured closing his eyes, he still had to finish dressing.
“Of course”.
Neji sighed tired, the war had ended two days before but he hadn’t rested, not even a bit. Every time he closed his eyes he saw her, and he wished he could picture her smile and giggle or the tender in her eyes, but he saw her next to him, deeply wounded but trying to be brave for him. The young man got up and got ready, but his eyes caught her ring. The wedding ring. He took it carefully and decided to put it through a leather lace that put around his neck, hiding it under his clothes.
The remain of the Hyuga clan marched all together to the cemetery were all Konoha was. Hinata stayed next to Neji, being a silent support that he appreciated although he couldn’t vocalize it yet. They greeted those who greeted them when they arrived and Naruto approached Hinata and Neji when he saw them. They didn’t say anything, they just nodded at each other and joined the rest of their friends.
“Hey, Neji” Rock Lee greeted, putting his hand on his shoulder “have you slept at all?”.
He shook his head and Tenten approached them “but are you eating? You have to take care of yourself after your wound. How is it?”.
“Sakura was highly effective in her work” he replied.
“You are still mad at her” Tenten mumbled sadly.
“I don’t think this is the place to talk about it, we are here to pay the respects of those who left us bravely”.
Neji went to stand next to Hiashi and the rest of the Hyuga clan. Hinata sighed and looked at Rock Lee and Tenten “I don’t know how to be there for him”.
“You are doing enough, Hinata” Rock Lee smiled at her slightly to comfort her.
The people of Konoha started to get around the new graves, ready to give their prayers to the souls of the lost lives.
Suddenly Neji felt something that made him look up with a frown. Hinata looked at him surprised by his movement that stood out between the heads down of all. Neji looked behind them to see someone in a wheelchair, helped by another figure. Neji mumbled something under his breath before getting out of the crowd and running to them “(Y/N), you should be at the hospital!!”.
Neji kneeled in front of his wife that smiled just a bit “I needed to be here to say goodbye”.
The man looked up at Sakura who looked guilty “we talked yesterday, she could use the fresh air and we would go back to the hospital as soon as the funeral ends”.
“Don’t get mad with her, it was my doing” (Y/N) said “and Lady Tsunade said I could do it”.
Neji just sighed and stood up to be the one who pushed the wheelchair “thank you, Sakura”.
“No worries” said with a small voice.
Before she pulled away completely, Neji stooped her talking again “I mean, thank you for what you did. I apologize for what I yelled at you back at the field, it wasn’t appropriate, you were doing your job”.
“I understand, Neji. You thought you were going to lose her” she looked down at (Y/N) who smiled at her “but I understood what it would be like if I didn’t do as she asked”.
“Good thing you are magnificent at your job” (Y/N) said taking Neji’s hand that was on her shoulder.
Sakura smiled at her and the three of them joined the rest of Konoha who smiled at them. Neji pushed the wheelchair until (Y/N) was next to Shikamaru and Ino, he knew she was there for them.
“You shouldn’t have come, you are still healing” Ino whispered trying to keep at bay her emotions.
“But I had to, this is the place where I have to be, next to you to say goodbye to our warriors”.
Ino let out a sob and leaned down to hugged her very carefully. Shikamaru put his hand on her shoulder, squeezing softly “thank you, (Y/N)”.
She smiled sadly at him and the funeral started. A ceremony filled with tears but also pride for those who had protected all of them.
Once the ceremony ended, (Y/N) said goodbye to her friends, promising a visit soon. Neji, Hinata and Naruto took her to the hospital.
“How are you feeling?” Naruto asked with a small smile.
“I’m sleeping a lot, Sakura says that’s good. That my body is recovering great. Lady Tsunade said I will heal completely in a week or so, but my chakra is a bit under what it should be”.
“You were really brave, not a kunoichi and fighting like all of us”.
“It means a lot coming from you, hero of the war”.
Naruto blushed deeply and the women laughed.
Once in the hospital, Naruto and Hinata said goodbye while Neji stayed with his wife. He sat on her bed, at the edge of the bed in front of her. She smiled and took his hand “don’t be mad at me”.
“I’m not…”.
She smirked and her hand went to his clothes to reveal the scar of his abdomen “it left a scar”.
“It’s a reminded that my brave wife saved my life” he said leaning to kiss her lips sweetly.
She smiled against his lips and whispered against them “don’t worry, I’m going to be a gardener from now on”.
“Whatever you desire” he replied pulling away a bit.
(Y/N) saw something behind his clothes and took the lace, revealing her ring. Neji took it to pulled away the ring “Sakura gave it to me once she stabilized you, I’ve carried it with me since”.
Neji took her hand softly and put the ring where it belonged. (Y/N) smiled brightly and caressed his face “what now?”.
“First, you recover. Then we go home, take care of the garden together and just enjoy our future”.
(Y/N) pulled his arm softly and he sighed but acceded to lay next to her carefully.
“And, in that future, there’re babies?” she asked smiling.
Neji blushed and stuttered a bit “b-ba-babies?” (Y/N) nodded biting her lip. Neji tried not to smile looking at her, but he couldn’t help it. He was surprised how cheerful she seemed after what she had endured. He caressed her cheek and got his face closer to her, almost touching her nose “it would be an honour to form a family with you”.
She blushed but giggled making him laugh softly.
“We are free” she whispered “we can live our future without anyone telling us what to do”.
“We are free together”.
(Y/N) smiled and kissed him softly once, twice, three times. No rush. They had all the time. The rest of their future ahead.

GerardWayisSexah's WIP Wednesday:
Back when I started writing my longfic, that story was all I could think about. I couldn't imagine being one of those fanfic writers with 10 WIPs going at once. Now, I'm not quite at 10 yet, but...I could easily get there. I'm not even counting all the half-baked ideas floating in my brain. If any of these strike your interest, feel free to message or send me an ask about them. :)
Here's a summary:
To Unbury a Heart (Ten-ten x Hiashi Hyuga) - 16k words [Completely written/ready to edit and post]
Freefall (NSFW Neji x Ten-ten) - 13k words [~60% written]
Pity the Woman (OC-centric, branch Hyuga watches Neji v. Naruto in Chunin Exams) - 2.5k words [~50% written]
Of Dreams Deferred (Neji lives and becomes clan head AU) - 71k words [~80% written]
(More in-depth rambling below the cut)
Completely written/ready to edit and post:
To Unbury a Heart (Ten-ten x Hiashi Hyuga)
Words: 16k
Yes, you read correctly. I wrote a Ten-ten x Hiashi Hyuga fanfiction and it's not crack. This one's inspired by the platonic Ten-ten and Hiashi found family dynamics I included in two of my NejiTen Month pieces. In this particular non-Boruto compliant AU, Ten-ten and Neji conceive a son before he dies in the war. Hiashi and Ten-ten raise the kid together, and Hiashi slowly but surely falls in love with her. However, because of his guilt over his past wrongs, he doesn't feel like he deserves her (even if she's ready to accept him).
Currently writing on and off:
Freefall (NSFW Neji x Ten-ten)
Words: 13k so far
I read a fic a while back in which Neji wants to sterilize himself so he doesn't perpetuate the Hyuga line. When I paused to consider his character, I realized it made sense that he wouldn't want to have children considering how much he resents his fate. Of course, my degenerate mind immediately thought of NSFW implications. As one does. In this fic, Neji swears at a young age (really, when he first learns about sex) that he won't ever sleep with a woman. Like Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, he doesn't want to risk making a child who'll suffer in the same ways he has.
Once he's assigned a team with Ten-ten, Neji starts falling for her though he denies his feelings, and Ten-ten has a boyfriend. Things begin to escalate between them once Ten-ten's boyfriend dumps her, and the Water Prison Incident makes it impossible for Neji to deny how he feels. And he also finds that keeping his promise to himself gets harder...and harder. (I'll refrain from making the obvious joke here).
Pity the Woman (OC-centric)
Words: 2.5k so far
I thought it would be interesting to explore how a rank-and-file branch loyal Hyuga views Neji v. Naruto in the Chunin Exams. I've hit a little bit of a roadblock with this story, since I need to watch the fight to get the dialogue and sequence of events right. Not sure how many of you have read "Bird in a Gilded Cage," but if you have, this fic will delve a bit deeper into Risa Hyuga's character and backstory. Knowledge of that particular story is absolutely not necessary to understand what's going on, though. I've had this fic in my head since last year (!) so getting it all out feels intensely gratifying.
Of Dreams Deferred (Neji becomes clan head - Neji x Ten-ten, Neji x Hyuga OC, Ten-ten x Rock Lee)
Words: 71k so far
This fic is very loosely inspired by "Precious Things," a Neji x Ten-ten fic on Fanfiction.net that was sadly discontinued 10 years ago. By loosely inspired, I mean that - I borrow a few elements (Neji getting embroiled in Hyuga politics, Neji and Ten-ten have an illegitimate child) from that fic, but otherwise go in my own direction. Twelve years before the story's start, Neji and Ten-ten break up so he can pursue his ambition of leading the Hyuga to reform the clan's ways. Marrying a non-Hyuga would compromise his legitimacy, when a former branch Hyuga leading the clan is already considered questionable. However, Ten-ten was pregnant at the time they broke up, unknown to both of them.
Their son grows up believing he's Rock Lee's son, while Neji marries a Hyuga woman for political reasons. Then when the kid is 12, he activates the Byakugan in a moment of panic, which raises some obvious questions (like, who's his actual father?). This brings Neji and Ten-ten back together, and they both start to have second thoughts about the paths they've taken in life. There's also a friendship/sibling relationship between Neji's legitimate daughter and his son with Ten-ten. A lot more goes on in the story, so I can't handily explain it all here.

neji and his proof of masculinity—nejiweek day 2
i.
Well, it’s made pretty obvious that Neji Hyuga is a boy when he’s born.
Must I elaborate how his mother and father and doctor could tell the sex of a naked baby?
But yes.
At thirty-seven seconds old, Neji is most definitely a male.
ii.
It isn’t that obvious but obvious enough that Neji Hyuga is a boy when he doesn't take kunoichi classes. Why would a boy take kunoichi classes? Though it isn’t as obvious as a naked baby, no one is going to check.
Whoever brave enough to check, you have my respect, though no one did in the end.
We’ll just assume that he is a male.
iii.
No, Maito Gai and Rock Lee do not check if Neji Hyuga is a boy when they go to the urinals.
That’s just wrong.
Why would someone without manly assets do business in a urinal?
If you ask me, it would be pretty ballsy.
Yet if you really think about it, there’s a slight possibility—
It’s a lot easier to assume that Neji is male.
iv.
Here’s the thing: Tenten usually doesn’t do taijutsu with Neji Hyuga alone.
But contrary to popular belief, she is quite good at it, enough to hold against him for an hour.
Tenten’s tight shirt makes it quite obvious that she’s female, therefore she is not educated in the unwritten and unspoken code of the male species. Obviously, she doesn’t know what exactly a kick in the crotch feels like. She just knew it is painful.
It isn’t that she thought Neji was a girl, but she isn’t so convinced he was a boy either.
So in the middle of their taijutsu spar, she decided to kill two birds with one stone. She would be able to find out how much of a male he really is, and if he is, win the spar.
It is safe to say that she won the spar and that the body rolling on the ground trying not to scream is definitely a male.
v.
When Hinata Hyuga is looking for her sister and instead walked into a room with Neji Hyuga and Hiashi Hyuga, she nearly passed out.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty sure she would have passed out it if weren’t for the fact that if she did, she’d likely wake up in front of male anatomy books.
Yes, Hiashi was giving Neji “the talk”.
Yes, there were condoms and bananas.
If Neji isn’t a male, we should be very concerned about why he was receiving “the talk” for guys.
vi.
Because Sakura Haruno is a doctor, it is normal for her to have seen parts of the anatomy that most people aren’t comfortable with showing.
At fifteen years old, she is the only one of Nej Hyuga’s friends other than his teammates to have seen his manly assets, and it would stay that way for a while.
She isn’t going to judge what gender he identified as, but he sure is of male sex.
vii.
Obviously at some point, Naruto Uzumaki is going to doubt if Neji Hyuga is a male who had sexual attractions.
Maybe it is clear that he is cisgender, but as far as they were concerned, he is appearing to be asexual.
When asked, Neji shook his head and said he is heterosexual.
Did Naruto believe him?
You’d be a fool to think he did.
Especially when no one really believed he had hormones either.
It started to get hopeless when every sexy no jutsu didn’t give him a nosebleed but obviously, Naruto Uzumaki didn’t give up!
When he turned into a sexy and naked Tenten, that most definitely proved that Neji had very “male” hormones and was most definitely not asexual.
viii.
Well, when Rock Lee pissed off Neji Hyuga to the extent that he would chase him shirtless around the village, the hoard of fangirls getting heart-eyes made him pretty obviously male.
Oh yea, and Tenten wouldn’t admit getting a nosebleed when she was about to scream at the two but received an eyeful of chiseled abs.
ix.
On the note of Tenten once more, when they started dating, Gai gave Neji a man-to-man talk.
Lee did too.
Neji is a male, but on very very rare occasions, he wished not.
x.
The last absolute proof of Neji Hyuga being a male was that fact that his newborn child with Tenten had pale eyes and glare that scared even him. There was no way that she could have had a surrogate with Byakugan genes and the infamous death stare, so it was undoubtedly his. No one had a doubt in the first place.
But let’s be real here.
No one really doubted he was a male.
I think that if you did, many would be disappointed in you.
It’s just entertaining to make fun of his masculinity

Not to my surprise, I’m on the late side with my first entry for @naruto-fantasy-week but better late than never, as they say (let’s see if I can actually produce my six other planned fanfics for this event. XD). But I was dying to write a soulmate/soul bond AU and this prompt offered the chance to me on a silver platter. I had a lot of fun with this story and had to find a decent place to stop because my brain kept churning with ideas to make this oneshot even longer to the point I should save this concept for later and either explain on it with a sequel or a multi fic. I did a little editing but it was mainly looking out for typos, misspellings, or missing words. Hopefully, I got them all or most of the mistakes. Happy reading! <3
If anyone is curious, the title for this fanfic “Our Two Souls Destined to Be” are lyrics from the song “Until Eternity” by Blackbriar.
Summary: Soulmates, soul bonds, whatever you call them, they were deemed special. But not to Neji. It didn’t matter who he was bonded to, for the main family would never allow him to find his true soulmate. Naruto Fantasy Week, Day 1. Prompt: Soul Bonds. [Neji x Sakura]
Flashback
Thoughts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“He is half of my soul, as the poets say.”
― The Song of Achilles,  Madeline Miller
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every shinobi village treated soul bonds with care but they all had their own ways to manage how these destined people found each other. In Konoha, soul bonds were celebrated and considered a thing of beauty but the village leaders, even the Hokage himself, left the clans alone in their decision regarding the treatment of soulmates, even if it meant the clan heads would tear the soulmates apart for their own agenda. The Uchiha and Hyuga clans were particularly known for this, especially in the branch Hyuga family.
Neji was no stranger to how little of a chance the branch family would have in being allowed to meet and marry their soulmate. Unless their bond directed them to a civilian or another branch member, they were demanded to ignore such signs and tether themselves to the person of the main family’s choosing. His father had no such choice in the matter and neither would Neji. And he already knew what color eyes his soulmate would have.
Neji's father, Hyuga Hizashi, regarded him curiously when the four-year-old asked him what color the grass and leaves on the tree was. He glanced at the twisted tree decorated with bright green leaves and budding, light pink blossoms. He knew what that meant if his son couldn't see the color green and there was no Hyuga in the entire clan that possessed such an eye color. Neji was bonded to an outsider, as the main family would see it.
"How long haven't you been able to behold the color green?" Hizashi queried gently, sitting down beside him as Neji stared at the blades of grass strewn across his palms.
"Since I turned four and before oji put the Caged Bird Seal on me." Neji tilted his hands to the side, watching several bits of grass immediately fall back down to the ground while a few still stuck to his warm palms. "I don't want anyone but you know about my soul bond. I don't want Hiashi-oji finding out and deciding he needs to uncover and lock up my soulmate."
His father remained silent at this admission, not even wasting his breath to assure Neji, his uncle–Hizashi's older twin brother–would never do something so horrendous to prevent Neji from being happy with someone destined for him. Hiashi rarely permitted the branch Hyugas be with their soulmates, especially when the union threatened the main family. That was one reason why he kept Hizashi's soulmate hidden and out of sight–that and the fact she was in love with Hizashi, even though Hisana was Hiashi's intended when the bond was initially revealed. The two of them tried to elope together but were eventually caught by a squad main Hyuga jonins and then were subsequently dragged back to the main family's manor. Hiashi never forgave his brother for ‘stealing’ his bride and her love, and punished them both by making sure they never saw each other ever again. Hisana's new home became her prison, living in exile in her own estates while Hizashi had to sneak around to smuggle in her gifts and letters to keep their spirits and hope alive.
As if remembering the painful memory, Neji's father gazed forlornly back at the tall, imposing stone walls that barred Hisana from her true freedom. His jaw locked in a tight grimace. "Not this time, Neji."
Neji jerked his head up in surprise. "Chichi?"
His father looked back at him, a grim yet resolute gleam in his light eyes. "You will find your soulmate, Neji. You deserve happiness with your soul bond and I'll fight with every fiber in my being to grant you that opportunity, even if it kills me."
Not too long after that private conversation between, his father was gone. Murdered by the main family, even though the official claim was he died at the hands of an assassin trying to kill Hiashi and abduct Hinata. Neji doubted the genuineness of that story, for that tale was a mere cover-up to shield their sordid crimes from the village. They didn't even announce which enemy village attempted to kidnap their precious clan heir, claiming they didn't want to start a political quagmire.
The main family were always crafty, elegant liars.
Neji's pale lavender eyes blankly stared at the trees of the village, their leaves vibrant to everyone else but him. To him, they were a lightly toned grey hue. And if his uncle had anything to say about it, the color green would remain elusive to him forever.

When Sakura received her soul bond mark, she didn’t tell her parents.
The symbol was a family crest, no doubt, one she was not familiar with but it burned itself along her neck, right above her collarbone. She stuffed her mouth with a pillow to muffle her screaming, utterly relieved that her parents were outside, enjoying the warm weather, and couldn’t hear her agonized noises. Then the scalding throbbing stopped and she frantically looked in the mirror to see an upside triangle with a curve up top, encompassing a small, thick swirling cloud. Transfixed, Sakura hesitantly reached out to trace the emblem, the marking smooth like ink instead of an iron hot brand. She had never seen this sigil before but then again, she came from a civilian upbringing and was unaware of the many important shinobi clans Konoha boasted to have among their ranks. She needed to learn more about the other important, non-civilian families in her village, especially since she already joined the Academy to become a kunoichi.
Checking out a record scroll listing all the known shinobi clans, both existing and defunct, was an easy task at the local library. Sakura spent her afternoon reading every name and analyzing their emblems to see if they matched the sketched replica she made earlier of her soul bond mark. The clan names were listed alphabetically and she was rather shocked to see how many ninja houses, both great and lesser, there were in the world. By the time she reached the ‘F’ section, her stomach grumbled and she had to take a break for lunch, the scroll tucked securely underneath her armpit.
About an hour and a half later, Sakura stared in shock at the perfectly inked Hyuga family crest in the scroll’s documentation, the elaborate sigil identical to the soul bond mark on her neck. Instinctively, she reached out to touch the spot, wondering what this could mean for her. There were stories and known instances of people from differing clans, both ninja and civilian, being tethered together through the soul but this was the Hyuga clan, one of Konoha’s greatest and prominent shinobi family since the founding years. How could her, a budding kunoichi-in-training (and a civilian as well), be bonded to a Hyuga?
Setting the scroll aside, Sakura finished the remnants of her lunch in a melancholic mood, frantically debating if she should finally tell her parents about her finally being bonded to another soul or remain mum on the matter. Memories of her parents’ reluctance, almost near protest, to her decision to become a shinobi of the Leaf, crept back in her mind and she cringed. If her parents still hadn’t warmed up to the idea of her being kunoichi one day and kept waiting for her to quit, then how would they come to terms that her soul mate came from one of the most prodigious clans known to shinobi?
No, she was better off not telling them the truth about her soul bond. The less her parents knew, the better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Due to the shifting, tense conflicts with the other villages, the Hokage decided to pass a mandate that allowed certain classes of genin to graduate a year early. Neji and his fellow classmates were already on their way to gradate but the genin who were all year younger had the chance to pass the Academy and be allotted their own genin team and teacher.
Neji barely cared who they assigned as his teammates when he graduated.
All it mattered he was in the top of his class, his success and herald as a prodigy flying straight in the face of his uncle and the claim that branch members could never rise higher than the main family. He wished he was there to witness the look on Hiashi’s visage when he realized his nephew showed far more promise as a ninja than his precious heir.
Pale lavender eyes surveyed his classmates, observing their reactions rather than their eyes. He once searched for the color in their eyes, hoping to find that missing hue. There was one classmate who supposedly possessed such an eye color but nothing happened between them and the hue remained elusive to him. Of course finding his soul bond wouldn’t be so easy.
“Hello, Neji-san!” greeted one of his teammates, Lee, in a far too cheery tone. “I look forward to working with you on the many missions to come!” Neji’s other teammate, Tenten, sighed, shaking her head.
“Lee, don’t bother Neji-san.”
The said man blinked. “I wasn’t! I was simply introducing myself to him! We’re teammates, after all, so shouldn’t we get to know one another?”
I could care less.
Without saying anything, Neji stood from his desk and removed himself from the room, leaving behind a bewildered Lee and Tenten exclaiming, ‘See? I told you so!’
He didn’t know why the sight of Lee or his over-enthusism grated him so. Maybe he didn’t like overly friendly or cheerful people or maybe it was because it was well known his two teammates already found their soulmates and their bonds lead to each other. Regardless, he had to get out of this damned academy.
“Forehead Girl, I can’t believe you ended up on the same team as Sasuke-kun! I don’t know why you aren’t as excited as me about this!”
“Ino, please! Keep your voice down! I don’t think the entire village learned about who my new teammate is.” scolded a second voice. Soon enough, two girls rounded around the corner, one blonde, the other sporting brilliant pink hair. The second voice belonged to the pinkette.
Neji stopped, his eyebrows furrowing. He had heard about some other shinobi-in-trainees from other classes (like Uchiha Sasuke and other clan members) before but nothing as odd as a kunoichi with pink hair. She must be decent enough to be paired with Sasuke in their three man squad.
The blonde–Ino–shook her head, throwing her arms up in exasperation. “Well, Sakura, if you’re not going to take advantage of being teammates with Sasuke and cozying up to him, then maybe I should come around and visit you guys while you train.”
Sakura snickered. “Sure, but I can’t guarantee he’ll notice you, Ino Pig.” She looked away from her friend and in that instant, her gaze crossed with Neji’s.
And the color green, so brilliant and lustrous, exploded in his vision.
He gasped unwontedly, reeling from the shock of such a vivid arrival, and couldn’t take his eyes off the girl who the universe bonded himself too. She was staring at him too, one hand clutching her neck and shoulder. Their eye contact never broke, even if her face was locked in pain, like she was burning upside. Their bodies remained frozen, partially out of fear that this was all just a dream and the other would disappear the moment they moved. The other reason, Neji, suspected, as he adjusted to seeing green for the first time while his soulmate controlled her ragged breathing, was they didn’t know how to proceed next. Despite the common occurrences of soul bonds, there really wasn’t a textbook example in how to meet your intended soulmate. At least, one that wasn’t a mere marketing ploy to garner a quick yen or two.
Neji opened his mouth, but the girl–Sakura was her name, he recalled–beat him to it.
“It’s you,” she breathed out in wonder. She took a small step forward, those beautiful, dazzling jade eyes wide and curious. He couldn’t recall the last time someone looked at him that way–or at least, not with utter loathing or total indifference.
“I am Hyuga Neji,” he found himself replying, unsure what else to say to her. There was no need to confirm they were each other’s soulmates, the intense exchange between them upon their first encounter was enough proof.
He was still processing how he should now approach this matter when Sakura let out a victorious squeal and launched herself at him, catching him off guard long enough to trap him in a tight but warm, welcoming hug. He stiffened. Soulmate or no, she was a kunoichi and shouldn't resort to such childish behaviors—
“I found you. I finally found you.” Her face was pressed up against his chest, almost nuzzling his neck so he felt her breath tickle his skin. The sensation felt pleasing, much to his surprise. “After all these years of searching and waiting...you’re here. Just like that.” And then Sakura just had to tilt her head up and peer up at him with those beguiling eyes, their green depths pulling him in. Bonded adults who found their other soul always talked about the strength of that instant connection you experienced when you first meet your soulmate yet Neji never esteemed the soul bond would be this powerful, this intoxicating. Maybe that was why Sakura felt compelled to run up and embrace him full-heartedly.
Into those green irises he gazed on, finding his voice at last when she released him from the enfoldment. “Here I am. We are soulmates, Sakura.” He tested the words out. New as they were on his tongue they still seemed right. “And as my soulmate, I will protect you.”
His father once stormed and braved all the shinobi of the main family to set his soulmate, his beloved Hisana, free from her gilded cage and allow her to seize her own life by the reins. Even though their love story turned into a tragedy, Neji wanted to honor them and at least take the chance at life with his soulmate. It was what his father would have wanted.
Sakura blushed, no doubt thinking he was referring to enemy villages but in truth, his uncle was the main foe on his mind. Neji would have said more if it wasn’t for Sakura’s friend, the one nicknamed ‘Ino Pig’, had to barge and interrupt their precious moment quite boisterously to remind them of her presence.
“SAKURA, WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME YOUR SOULMATE WAS A HYUGA?!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The minute people started poking their heads outside of classrooms or followed the sound of her friend’s voice, Sakura seized the opportunity to grab Neji by the hand and get them both out of the Academy and to one of the training grounds for more privacy. She felt bad for not giving him any warning as she tugged him along, her feet picking up a quick sprint to avoid their classmates’ prying eyes and nosy attention. For the first day with her soulmate, Sakura didn’t want anyone else butting in and spoiling their moment. Judging how willingly Neji allowed her to drag him away from the building without warning, he harbored similar sentiments. He didn’t complain once about her sudden actions and kept up with her pace with ease. Sakura had a sneaky suspicion Neji was faster than she was and like most Hyugas, excelled in taijutsu.
Maybe we could train together some time and he could teach me how to improve my taijutsu? Iruka-sensei keeps saying I’m doing fine but never tells me exactly which areas I can improve in.
“Finally, some peace and quiet, and more importantly, privacy!” she declared out loud, even though she glanced around them one more time to make sure Ino didn’t try to follow them. Then again, she probably was telling anyone who’d listened about the soulmate meeting she just witnessed between her best friend and Hyuga Neji. And knowing Ino, she’d probably over embellish certain parts for dramatic or romantic value. Sakura’s cheeks flushed at the mere thought of how...descriptive her childhood companion could be.
“For how long? Sooner or later, our teammates are going to catch wind of our disappearance and scour the Academy in search of us.” Neji pointed out, crossing his arms, his back against a tree trunk.
Sakura resisted the urge to chew her bottom lip, knowing while Sasuke wouldn’t care where she had gone but Naruto would heatedly clamor for her whereabouts and butt into her and Neji’s personal conversation, demanding to know what was going on. While Naruto wasn’t nosy like Ino, he definitely lacked tact and perception, especially in the more delicate or sensitive matters.
“Maybe ten minutes or so, if we’re lucky,” she estimated, silently praying to Kami that her teammates were far away and wouldn’t come along to muck up her very first meeting with her soulmate. “Not a lot of time to talk but we can still try to get to know each other a little bit before we have to go back to our teams.”
Neji nodded. That seemed reasonable enough. “What do you want to know? My skills as a shinobi?”
Heat flared up on Sakura’s cheeks and she wished that practical matter was her first thought. “Well, that too. I was thinking about asking questions more on the line on what we like or dislike, favorite foods, what’s your favorite color--you know, fun little facts to learn about each other.”
Neji couldn’t remember someone asking him such mundane queries or expressing an interest in him outside of the Academy or shinobi lifestyle. He wasn’t sure if he should find the whole point such discussions pointless or refreshing. Albeit he had to admit, he was curious to learn more about Sakura. Despite his grim resignation of the main family preventing him from ever discovering the end of his soul bond, he had often wondered late in the night before going to sleep what his soulmate would be like. Would they be a shinobi like him or a civilian? Were they from a clan or have no distinct, esteemed connections of their own? And would his soulmate even be a denizen of Konoha? At least now he will finally have some answers to the questions his younger self frequently contemplated about.
“Why do you go first, Sakura?” he offered politely. She seemed to know what questions she wanted to ask him anyway.
She nearly bounced in her feet. “Okay! Let’s start with your favorite food and color. Oh, and your least favorite food!”
That was straightforward enough. “Herring soba. I hate the flavor of pumpkin and any spicy foods. As for my favorite color…” He paused, realizing he never truly thought about it until now. Sakura’s brilliant verdant eyes snare his focus again, subtly offering him an option. Her eyes were a pretty shade after all. Perhaps fate had an answer for him after all. “Let’s go with green. Now that I can see it, I don’t think I can get enough of it.”
Sakura’s jaw dropped open. “You couldn’t see the color green for years?!” She had heard that each soul bond was different, that soulmates weren’t necessarily marked the same way but to never behold the color belonging to your soulmate’s eyes until you two finally met (if the union ever betided) seemed like such a huge sacrifice to endure and wait for its end.
Neji shrugged with indifference, knowing Sakura meant well but until today, he was used to not gleaning the color green and all its various shades. Now, he couldn’t unsee the hue and that was perfectly fine with him. “It doesn’t matter now. I fathomed if I had the chance to meet my soulmate, they’d be worth the wait.” His lavender pearl eyes leveled with her jade ones. “And I was right.”
Sakura sucked her breath in, trying her utmost best to remain calm and collected while inside, she was squealing with glee. While she had always been excited at the prospect of one day finding the match to her soul bond, deep down she was nervous, frightened even, that she would be rejected because she  wasn’t good enough, that she didn’t come from a noble or prestigious ninja clan or carried a formidable bloodline in her veins. She was a simple civilian girl who aspired to be a strong kuniochi one day, regardless of all the taunts and abuse the younger girls heaped on her in the early days of the Academy. And Hyuga Neji, her soul bond, seemed to have no issue with her civilian-like background. It was enough to have her heart fluttering all over again.
“T-Thank you,” she managed to say without blushing as crimson as her cheongsam but was unable to stop a grin from overtaking her lips. Neji’s smirk at her reaction was hardly inscrutable now, even as she quickly changed the subject back to her earlier inquiries. “My favorite color is red, as you might have guessed, and I have several favorite foods: anko dumplings, umeboshi, and, oh, anmitsu! But I can’t stand spicy food either. I just don’t understand how people can enjoy burning their tastes buds.” Sakura made a contemptuous face, remembering the last time she tried an overly spicy and seasoned dish. She had to gulp down an entire glass of milk to stop the fire from spreading along her tongue. That was when she learned water didn’t alleviate the fiery discomfort at all.
“I don’t understand it either,” Neji agreed, granting her a sympathetic look. He had to admit, learning such trivial pieces of information about his soulmate was rather fun. These small talks helped him understand Sakura a little bit better, especially if they seemed to be so unalike in various ways. He was about to propose a question of his own when he sensed very faint but approaching chakra signatures heading towards his and Sakura’s covert location. Instinctively, he activated his Byakugan. He did not fail to notice the way Sakura’s eyes widened with surprise or the expression of awe and wonder flashing across her features as she witnessed his kekkei genkai in action for the very first time.
“What is it? Who’s trying to locate us?” She kept her tone hushed, preventing her voice from echoing over the tall, shrouded trees they used as refuge from curious onlookers.
“Two senseis,” Neji groused, thoroughly displeased with this interruption. If the intruders were fellow classmates, they could have easily been shooed away. “Looks like we’re found out.” His gaze returned to normal.
Sakura sighed exasperatedly, dejected by these turn of events and crossed her arms irately. She had hoped her and Neji would have more time together and no one would notice their absence until much later. “We already have graduated and yet, they still want to lecture us on something we won’t remember or care about now that we’re genin and can finally go on missions.”
“Just ignored them,” Neji advised, a shadow of a smirk gracing his lips. “It’s only for today. And after that, the Academy will be a thing of the past.”
Sakura brightened at his words, standing up tall. “That’s right! And we can have more time to see each other! Do you think you’ll be free tomorrow?”
“I should be, if my new sensei doesn’t keep us training for the whole day. I’ll come find you after practice. What’s the number they assigned your team?”
“Seven. What about you?”
“Thirteen.”
“There you two are!”
In a sudden swirl of smoke, stood two Academy teachers, both eyeing their respective student from their classroom. One of them was Neji’s teacher, who merely cut him a disapproved frown while the other teacher, who was tan and supported a long scar across his nose, smiled worriedly at Sakura.
“Iruka-sensei, you shouldn’t pop in on us like that! Neji and I were having a private conversation!” Sakura protested indignantly.
Iruka almost appeared apologetic the way he shot her an empathetic glance, his smile unwavering, before addressing them both. “I’m sorry to cut this moment short, but you two need to go with your genin team and meet your new sensei. I’m sure the two of you have plenty of time later talk to each other.” He then winked knowingly, now wearing an absurdly goofy grin while ushering both a stoic Neji and an irked Sakura out of the canopy of trees and back to the Academy. Before they parted to be formally introduced to their shinobi squad, Sakura gave him an eager wave, her eyes alight with the promise of them meeting up tomorrow. Even though he only knew her company for such a brief time, he did enjoy the way she beamed at him like that, rife with hope and supreme joy, as if they were the only two people in the world and nothing else mattered. Neji was beginning to understand the inexplicable bliss of having a soul bond much better now. And he had Sakura to thank for that.
Feeling lighthearted for the first time in years, Neji glanced hopefully at the doors to the Academy and the cherry blossoms trees that framed the grounds around the building. He wondered if Sakura liked cherry blossoms or she preferred other flora in Konoha.
Next time they talked, he’ll have to ask her what her favorite flowers were.

For the ask, Naruto!
send me a fandom and i’ll tell you…
the first character i ever fell in love with: Hinata was the first character in the series I was emotionally invested in but the first characters I actually loved were Haku and Zabuza lol (Their deaths still gets me ;_;)
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: Hmmm.... Idk I guess Kakashi? He used to be my favorite Male character but now I'm kinda indifferent tbh
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: I could answer this. But because I know how sensitive this fandom is about shipping I'd rather not.
my ultimate favorite character™: Gee I wonder... 😏
prettiest character: Every Female character tbh
my most hated character: Hiashi Hyuga apologize to my daughter challege! Also Orochimaru. He... just makes me uncomfortable I'm sorry.
my OTP: Take a wild guess
my NOTP: Obito x Rin would be sweet.... If he hadn't done everything he did after her sacrifice. Literally the Snape x Lily of Naruto and I don't care for it.
favorite episode: Of the Original? If were talking Canon moments then Gaara vs Lee. If were talking Filler whatever episode the Bikochu Filler was.
Of Shippuden: Episode 166
Of Boruto: Episode 126 (Or hell any episode with Himawari as a focus)
saddest death: Neji deserved better... (Can we sacrifice Hiashi to restore Neji instead?)
favorite season (I'm just gonna put Arcs for these): The Chunin Exam Arc. Also The Pein Arc a certain degree.
least favorite season: Like I said I disliked most of Shippuden. But holy shit The 5 Kage Summit Arc was probably the series lowest point.
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: I really don't like judging characters based on how the rest of a fandom feels about them. But also at the same time I don't really care about Madara.
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: Hmm...
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: Sakura, Hinata, Karin, and TenTen. Sakura deserves more than being labeled as "Useless" and shit on by both Kishi and the fandom despite all of her accomplishments. Hinata deserves more than just being written by Kishi as "Naruto's Love Interest" and getting shit on by the fandom for not wanting to stay with a toxic clan that treated her like garbage. Karin deserves more than to be labeled as some slut or whore by the fandom when she's only ever loved Sasuke, been a victim of a clan massacre and (possible) sexual assault and don't get me started on her still working for Orochimaru. Like wtf Kishi! And TenTen deserved more period!
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: I really don't like ships like this tbh
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: SasuSaku, SaiIno, Any Next Gen ship

The Golden Silk Caterpillar - Chapter 3 - [Shino x Tenten]
For the next two days, all Tenten did was translate the text multiple times until she was confident she had it translated correctly. She read all the Soniese books she could find from her mother's old belongings. The gold they could get from this mission would help the Aburame, herself and go a long way in helping her village and, therefore, everyone in the village. She would not have this mission go awry because she incorrectly translated left for a right or up for down.
She also did a little reading on the terrain of the area around SeeSoSanya to learn and see if it could spark some memories; Tenten was amazed at how much she remembered considering she hadn't thought about the place in a long time.
Not to mention the fact that the head of the Aburame clan would be with her, following her directions, it was almost too much to think about.
The afternoon of the day before they were due to leave, she had lunch with Lee and Sakura.
"I can't believe you're going on a mission with the head of the Aburame clan," Sakura paused before leaning in. "Are you nervous? I'd be a wreak!"
"I am a little yea," she confessed. "Especially because of what the mission is about. There's a chance we might go all that way and not find anything."
"I wish you could tell us more about your mission!" Lee said, looking frustrated. "We might have been able to help!"
"Sorry, Lee, but this is a clan thing," Tenten broke off to shake her head at the obscurity. "And I have to tell you guys it's so weird to say that."
Lee and Sakura nodded. The three shinobi at the table were the only ones in their immediate friend group without a clan name.
Almost taking her off guard, Sakura was suddenly incredibly serious looking.
"Tenten, you need to be careful out there."
She blinked but smiled at her friend's worry. "We don't expect to encounter any enemies on the trip, so don't-"
"That isn't what I meant."
Now she was really confused.
Sakura continued. "If you do anything to piss someone like him off, he could ruin your career as a shinobi. He could demand the Hokage to have your headband faster than you could sharpen a kunai."
"Friend Sakura! Do you believe him to be capable of such an action?" Lee asked
Tenten couldn't help her face from scrunching up in disbelief. Shibi Aburame had been nothing but courteous once she managed to calm herself down; everything had been fine. “He seemed nice enough when we talked a few days ago.”
"I've never spoken to him; I'll admit," the medical ninja confessed. "But he is the head of one of the great shinobi clans; I mean, can you imagine if you went on a mission with Hiashi Hyuga and insulted him? The man would destroy you and not even blink."
Tenten and Lee shared a look. They could only vaguely imagine what would happen to the make-believe shinobi in that situation.
"Although," the Sakura tapped her forefinger against her lip. "We could be looking at this all wrong; you never know," she grinned cheekily, making Tenten frown suspiciously. "You could come home engaged to Shino and become the heir to the clan and suddenly be at the top of the shinobi food chain!"
Tenten's jaw dropped, and she could feel her cheeks explode in heat in an impressive Hinata impression. "Sakura!"
Lee slammed his fist down on the table.
"I will not allow it!"
"Thank you, Lee, I-"
"Friend Shino will need to defeat both Gai Sensei and me if he wishes to ask for friend Tenten's hand in marriage!" Lee stood on his chair to put a foot on the table and strike a dramatic pose making several people stare. "Only a truly worthy shinobi that has proven himself in a battle against us will be allowed to marry our precious flower!"
"Oh Kami above," Sakura barely contained her laughter as Tenten grumbled before yelling at her best friend. "Lee, sit down! Get off the table!"
