Say we found out Adam had a tragic past. That oh, the Gods fucked him over and he went insane but he really did love Blake, honestly-so naturally Blake should be involved with redeeming him and then they should live happily ever after, right?

Answer: fuck no. Adam is an asshole even if he’s got a ~tragic backstory~ and Blake should castrate him and choke him to death on his balls.

So then, why in the world are people arguing that Ozma/Ozpin should still be in love with Salem? That he should be ready to redeem her and live happily ever after with the woman who got him into this mess in the first place, used his love for her to get him to do awful things (which, yeah, a lot of that is on him), continually pushed for destruction, then proceeded to kill him and their children when he decided to do the right thing?

I’m gonna use that one scene as an example, and a big one. Ozma trying to escape with the children in the middle of the night is explicitly coded as someone escaping an abusive situation. The notable thing is that the positions are reversed- Ozma is in what is typically the woman’s place, defending his daughters, while Salem is in the typically male position. Which may explain why people are blaming him for the fight. Men are not supposed to be the vulnerable ones, so clearly if he is, he must be wrong.

(I fully believe that if their roles were reversed, hardly anyone would blame Salem for trying to escape with the girls.)

And after that confrontation, Salem never stopped trying to destroy him or what he stood for. Communication is absolutely a two-way street, and anyone who blames Ozma for ‘not talking to her’ (when he was clearly trying to, even while dying under her feet) must also blame Salem for the same damn thing.

He’s shown to have moved on, eventually, after centuries and lifetimes of grief. Why must he then turn back and be the redemption for Salem? Why remove Salem’s agency like that? Why remove his? Salem deserves better. 

Ozma and Ozpin and Oscar and all of those incarnations deserve so much better.

Concerning that last post I rebloged, specifically the Adam part, it's not just that the poster glosses over the fact that Adam is indeed part of a minority group that is gross

But they also strip him of being part of any minority group by claiming he "stole" asian inspiration (something that doesn't really exist in the show so I don't know how he would steal it) and that part also really bothers me.

Because they took the idea that Adam's weapon and design were asian inspired and instead of following it to it's logical conclusion (Adam would be of Asian descent in the real world), they instead twisted to mean "Adam is a bad guy and we all know Asians can't be bad guys so he totally must be white and just stole the weapon and outfit design from them"

And I hate to break it to ya, but that's racist
