How would you rewrite Hella's story? Especially Hella & Loki relationship? Once upon a time I thought that she is so interesting, has so much potential. I had my headcanon that she is more powerful than Thanos...

I love Hela with all my heart and what they did with her is completely indefensible.

She should have been the one to show both Thor and Loki the truth about Odin by telling them exactly the kind of things not just her and Odin but the Valkyries as well used to do way back when. In the movie it's like all the blame falls on her and Thor goes around praising the Valkyries as the "legendary warriors" of the past... when it should have been Hela showing Thor and Loki all the destruction, breaking the palace apart so they could see the truth - basically, what she did with Skurge but with the Brodinsons.

Then sure in the end you can still have her wanting more and going for absolute control over the cosmos bla bla, but the first part of the movie they should have dedicated it to really diving deep into Asgard's terrible history + they could have referenced previous movies in the process.

Like, what happened in Svartalfheim. That was before she was born but I'm sure Odin must have told her what Bör did (the initial script of TDW has the Asgardians poisoning the air and soil, making it impossible for the dark elves to breathe, most of them died, including Malekith's wife and kid. This is literal genocide). Or in Jotunheim, we only have Odin's side of events, we could have gotten the story from Hela. And how did the 9 realms ever came to be? Hey, Loki has that ability in Ragnarok to get in Val's mind, right? He could have done that with Hela, imagine the horrors he could see. And since they all meet up with Val she could confirm it, she was literally there!

That would also leave a scenario where Thor is reluctant to admit the truth but Loki accepts it immediately (showing openly on screen the huge difference between a golden child and a scapegoat).

Basically the way I would have rewritten Hela's story is by putting her centre-stage, debunking every single lie Odin had told as she tries to convince Thor and Loki to join her in conquering the entire cosmos, being cunning and manipulative but telling them only the truth. Then Thor could fight her and again see Odin in his dream (or whatever that was) but instead of talking to him affectionately he would call him out on his lies and his terrible crimes, like T'Challa did with T'Chaka in Black Panther.

TDW News: 03/30/2023

It's, uh...it's been a minute. 😅

Apologies for leaving y'all on radio silence for basically 2 years. I won't bore you with the details, but college and other writing projects have been kicking my butt and allocating my focus away from TDW for the most part. I still was able to work on rewriting the original 11 chapters (now numbering at 10 chapters) from 1st POV to 3rd POV, but those aforementioned endeavors placed TDW on the back burner while I got my shit together. Which, in the end, got me frustrated over this whole "wait-til-I-drafted-the-entire-novel-before-posting" plan I initially wanted to follow through with. Patience is a virtue that is very touch-and-go with me, especially when it comes to something I love. As of writing this, I have the first 5 chapters of The Midnight Thief fully rewritten and at various levels of revamped. And, I'm honestly dying to show you all the changes I made and give you a proper introduction to the story-verse I've created.

Thus, with this in mind, I present to you a new plan regarding TDW's posting schedule. Once a month, starting today on TDW's Wattpad anniversary, I'm going to post the first 5 chapters of The Midnight Thief. That means, for 5 months, ya'll will have consistent updates. After that, though, I'll work on rewriting/revamping the remaining 5 while also drafting the rest of the novel. I can't give you a concise ETA, but just know that the remaining 5 OG-rewritten chapters will come out quicker than the rest of the novel, but not as quick as the first 5.

For now, please enjoy the first chapter of The Midnight Thief! And don't forget to vote and comment on the chapter! 'Til next time 💜💜

yeah true but i mean. it's a fic designed to solve a particular problem with a canon that has added many new problems in the meantime, so that feels a little different from the standpoint of writing it XD

the skrull thor fic concept is that the reason Thor in TR seems so different is that he was literally replaced with a skrull at some point between the end of tdw and where we see him at the start of TR, and the fic starts near the end of TR with Loki finally having time to be like "wow Thor sure is acting strange" and then stuff happens yadda yadda all the fallout after he discovers why. The plan I have for it covers a lot of ground (like it basically rewrites IW but way better imo) but I've only gotten the first handful of chapters written so far. Fingers crossed that I can pull it off!

Two Worlds of a Hero by Nako13yeh - After Avengers 1 the Tesseract jumps the entire helicarrier into another dimension where all of them are comic/movie characters... they try and find out why Loki is such a popular character...and maybe stumble across some theories... (warnings are in description but the major dark theme is rape, so please be warned about that). This fic is complete and is basically written to always be either inducing anxiety or angsty, so there’s that.  

Stygian by GalaxyThreads - The Avengers try to make sure he doesn’t escape the Raft where he's being kept, but he isn't trying to escape. 100k of well-written plot with wonderful characterization. Check the tags for warnings, because as is often the case with Loki, there is suffering, and implied suffering. Blind!Loki so there’s that too. Good bonding but also angsty, obviously. (I actually recommend going through other GalaxyThreads fics).

I really think you should go for something not too angsty so:

Picking Up The Pieces by Thursdays_Angel -  300k series which starts after Infinity War, starts off angsty but progresses into something angsty but also fun. 

Oh, Hey There, Mister Blue by iguessyouregonnamissthepantyraid - 200k of Loki and the The Guardians Of The Galaxy, starting with an Infinity War rewrite, naturally. Angsty at times but more fluff and found family, which is what you should be focusing on if you’re feeling down, anon.

Time Travel, A4, and Loki

Ever since those leaked set photos many months ago—where Tom Hiddleston was on the A4 set, in his Avengers (2012) outfit—my money has been on time travel.

There have been many theories about how Loki might come back in A4, and while I’ll support anything that says he’s coming back, there are some I buy more than others, and I don’t think we’ve talked much about the time travel one here on this blog.

Recently, while browsing the web, I saw two articles about Endgame come up. I generally try to avoid articles about Loki in A4 because the press, for the most part, doesn’t share our #hope, however, I decided to go for it this time, and was happy to find that both articles were hopeful, and talked about the time travel theory I’ve been betting on:

I probably won’t do the best job explaining it, but the theory basically details that by using the quantum realm (my original thought was the time stone, but I understand now why the quantum realm makes more sense), Tony Stark will time travel into the past to keep Thanos from getting the infinity stones in the first place. Since Loki has more information about Thanos than any of them, he is the one that Tony goes to for help. There are a few other things I’ve seen over the months that help with this theory too (I can’t remember them all, but one of them being this is the reason why most of the Avengers have different hairstyles currently—so you can recognize the past cast from the present/future cast…Which would help me too, as I’ve been mourning Thor’s hair…)

I know there wasn’t the slightest mention of time travel in the teaser, but they would be secretive, wouldn’t they? The teaser really didn’t tell us anything that would happen at all; for the most part they reiterated what we knew. All they said was “this is gonna work.” What’s “this”? They also showed Scott at the end, and if it is the quantum realm they’re using, he’ll be crucial to the time travel idea.

The other nice thing about this theory is that it doesn’t have to actually explain how, if, or why Loki faked his death in IW. Even if that death was real, it doesn’t matter, because they can time travel and completely rewrite it, and bring him back anyways. And maybe it makes sense, in a way? Maybe Loki truly was the one who could have defeated Thanos, and had he not been killed off early, the Avengers would have won in IW. Maybe his early death wasn’t just for shock value.

Now, there have been a few things on this blog already about how Marvel has officially changed Loki’s bio to say that he was being influenced by the scepter in Avengers (2012) and was never a villain in the first place. For me personally, a) Considering how different he acts in Avengers, vs the other movies, I pretty much already accepted this headcanon, so it wasn’t really anything new to me, and b) even if his actions were real in Avengers, considering, once again, how he acts in the other movies (and my own propensity for liking villains) I’d still love him. But it was still nice to have true confirmation!

But the thing that didn’t sit right with me was the timing of it. Why now? Why after 6 years (has it really been that long?! :O)would they deign to change/confirm our perception of a character/movie? They could have made it more explicit in the movie itself, or come out and said it earlier. It seemed almost…cheap to do it that way?

Marvel knows what a big fanbase they have, they surely didn’t think, despite it being a simple change, that it would go unnoticed either.

Only after reading that second article did I realize the timing may have a very important reason; that that change might have a connection to A4.

Maybe they needed to confirm that he wasn’t a villain, that he was being influenced, so that it would make sense when Tony pulls him from the scepter’s influence in A4, and brings him to their side.

For me, the thing that bothered me most about Loki’s death in IW wasn’t the fact of his death, it was the way it was done; that you could tell it was just to set up the stakes of the movie, that they reused the method of redemption from TDW, instead of putting effort into something new, that the God of Mischief, who always uses illusions, and who knew more about Thanos than anyone, would give some half-baked assassination attempt, and more than anything, that he didn’t get to interact with the other Avengers at all. I spent years yearning for the promised Loki content in this movie, only to have that snatched away.

For me, years ago, when I simply knew that Loki would be in this Avengers 3 movie in the far off future, but nothing of the plot, I always imagined that his redemption would come through teaming up with the Avengers. (Or at least interacting with them, and begrudgingly helping, even if he wasn’t a true “Avenger.”) The fact that IW seemed to snuff that out, was what broke my heart.

That is the very reason why I most hope the time travel theory will come true, (plus the fact that I just love time travel in general), and why I wish for it more than any other theories about him faking his death (even though, again, I’d be happy with any way that he’s still alive): it would mean that Loki would team up with the Avengers to save their universe, just like I’d dreamed all those years ago. His redemption would come from being a true hero, and we’d get some funny banter and interactions along the way.

And if that isn’t what happens in A4?

If I don’t get my Loki content at all?

You can bet that I, grief stricken, will be writing a fanfic 😉

Question: what ever happened to your ninjashow fanfic, Secrets Behind the Nine? Is it on hiatus? Cancelled?

Hoo boy, I knew I was gonna get this ask eventually…

Context for my followers, if you didn’t know already. (Warning, this is gonna get pretty long, so more under the cut.)

Long time ago, I wrote a ninjashow fanfic series called “The Story of the Warrior in White”. It was basically like every other fanfic about giving Randy a female partner that would eventually become his girlfriend, except the female ninja’s history was heavily involved in the backstory of the Norisu Nine and the Sorcerer. As of now, SotWiW has been deleted and the files for the story I’ve lost while transferring my writing files to a new flash drive. I deleted the story off my FanFic account because a) I found them horrifically cringy and poorly written, b) the whole thing was just a hot mess that my middle school mind conjured up before I took writing seriously, and c) I didn’t want the story to be around anymore since I had much better stories for others to see. I’ve rewritten this series twice, first calling it “The Dark Reality: Secrets Behind the Norisu Nine” and then dubbing it “Secrets Behind the Nine: The Shadow Warrior”. In both rewrites, I decided to make the story more serious and darker, focusing on the lore of the Norisu Nine and how the Sorcerer came to be. I also remade the female ninja character, no longer making her Randy’s love interest but rather his and Howard’s best friend that had moved away prior to them entering high school. Her family still had strong connections to the Norisu Nine and the Sorcerer, though.

The latest rewrite, SBtN, I’ve struggled writing because of the lack of ninjashow content and me focusing more on my original stories. When I announced that I wasn’t going to do fanfics anymore, I was relieved because I didn’t want to continue writing a story that I lost my muse for. After all, when you lose your passion for something, it shows in the work you put into. However, I was angry at myself because I was abandoning so many good ideas and plot lines.

SBtN was basically going to be a reimagining of the whole show, where the characters stayed the same but the backstory and lore of their world would be completely revamped. The history of Norisu Nine would’ve been fleshed out and explored, as well as the Sorcerer and Norrisville itself. I was even going to feature my version of human!Nomicon.

But, unfortunately, I lost my drive to make fanfics and wanted to focus more on original content. Which really bums me out because I wouldn’t be a writer without RC9GN inspiring me. With it not getting a third season, I was so ready to just go ham in my fanfics. I wanted to explore a world that the ninjashow never got to, to show a side to the characters we know and love that we’ve never seen before. I am a storyteller, and not being able to tell a story really gets me. I wanted to continue SBtN, to not let it be another unfinished story that haunts my profile on FF.net. But, how was I gonna do it?

If you guys followed me since my start in fanfics, you would know that there was another ninjashow fanfic in my fanfic account that I was working on alongside SotWiW/TDR/SBtN, called “The Dimension Walker”. If any of you follow me on my main blog ( @thegirlwiththecrimsoncloak ), you would know that I turned this little blurb about a fan of the show that traveled to its dimension into an original urban fantasy series that’s currently being posted on my Wattpad. And, ever since I made it into an original series, I’ve been having a blast writing it.

TDW has come a long way from its initial state way back when. And, I thought that maybe I should turn what I had planned for SBtN into an original series. After all, all the stuff I had planned is not canon whatsoever and largely just headcanon-based. Turning SBtN into an original series may be what it needs.

And so, “Secrets Behind the Nine” became “The Yokai Seven”. It’s basically about seven teens that have been chosen to protect their town of Kazuya, Japan from an ancient sorcerer that’s trying to break free and wreck havoc in the world. As they battle against the forces of evil, they also have to deal with hiding their secret identies whilst navigating through the troubling fiasco we know as high school. Much like our beloved ninjashow, except it has a more serious tone (but still retains the humor and lightheartedness I loved about RC9GN) and filled with a diverse cast of Asians (from the Middle East to the Far East). Plus, it also takes place in the future, so there’s that!

In short, SBtN is not coming back as a fanfic but is being rewritten as an original series. I’m currently working on the outline for it. So far, I have about four chapters outlined. I might make a blog for it in the future, but only when I start writing the chapters out.

I’m sorry to those that were looking forward to more chapters of SBtN, but I hope y’all will follow the development of Yokai Seven! If you love and miss Randy Cunningham, you should definitely check out Yokai Seven. It might not be exactly like the ninjashow, but it still has elements from it.

I think everybody’s heard me complaining about various projects but here’s the rundown again if anyone, uh, isn’t already tired of me complaining about them...? But here’s a little more detail.

Painting/customizing:

~secret project~ that I kind of need to finish tomorrow

Etsy commission: Jefferson from Once Upon a Time. Still need to finish painting the body (Sherlock), probably cut more off the hat, figure out how to make the hat fit on Sherlock’s head, go back with my rotary tool and carve off the top of Sherlock’s head if necessary, paint the hat, and put everything together

more Pride Cap necklaces (asexual for @erlkonigstochter, agender for @lukeskywalkersbutt, and then I’d probably be smart if I painted at least one more each of ace and LGBT+ rainbow)

Etsy commission, two for the same person: Dayna Mellanby from the show Blake’s 7 (Hiller head, April O’Neil body; need to repaint eyelashes again and hope I get it right this time and do...all the repainting for the body) and a WWI soldier (Jay Garrick head because he’s literally the only Funko figure with the right helmet, War Doctor body, various bits from my stash)

Batwoman Funko (repainted Impopster Harley Quinn) to list on Etsy, probably under the same “most of the profits go to an LGBT+ charity” thing

Fic (there’s more in my WIP list but I guess these are the active ones):

the kindness of strangers still needs a final chapter where Loki and Gamora meet up again, and a lot of it’s already written but I need to like, stitch everything together...and I also probably need to rewrite some of the scene I wrote with Yondu, because I really disliked him after the first movie and wrote the scene accordingly but then Vol. 2 made me like him more and I’m grumpy about it (for real though, GotG2 did so many things with characterization that still weren’t necessarily enough but should have happened in, you know, the movie that introduced us to these characters so we’d care about them)

the rest of my 2016 Yuletide fic, with Alice and Hatter visiting Wonderland again mostly so I can fill in the plot/worldbuilding holes that bugged me

Hydra Cap Garbage 2: The Garbaging (the original fic didn’t involve Loki because it was just a one-off with Steve and the rest of the team, but stuff happened and I decided to do an actual sequel that includes me trying to be concise for once about how Loki is kind of an honorary Avenger now for backstory reasons, so basically in this it’s been about a year since the rumor started, Steve is upset and Loki doesn’t want Steve to be upset, so he decides he’s going to scare off some neo-Nazi punks, and there is...probably not that much left to write? but I don’t know when I’ll actually finish it because DEADLINES. for obvious reasons it would be ideal if I could finish this before Secret Empire bullshit is finally done so I suppose I should really look up when that is, as much as I’d rather pretend the whole thing just isn’t happening)

MCU AU Fest fic I can’t talk about in detail because anonymous exchange but uh, I’m sure you’ve all seen me tooth-gnashing and garment-rending over this

sequel to in a better time you could be my friend, where Clint remembers everything just in time to learn that Loki died on Svartalfheim…and then, helping out with the post-TDW cleanup, finds an only mostly dead Loki in an abandoned building near the Thames. also no idea when this might be posted because I haven’t written a lot yet and, you know, DEADLINES.

Avengers Academy: Friendship Is Magic: Loki is simultaneously too prideful and too insecure to be a good co-conspirator, but that doesn’t mean Amora can’t find a use for him–as long as she can make sure he’s on her side. Unfortunately for her, the non-evil students may have already beaten her to it. I’ve been working on this on and off for...I don’t know, a long time, because I hadn’t even finished all the main story content when I started writing it and I think we’d only had one or two events. I’m going to use this for WIP Big Bang because it’s been “almost done” for months and I need to finish the damn thing while there’s still a relevant fandom to read it, although now that I’ve already written most of it I’m not totally sure if I want Amora to be as nasty as I’ve written her, ha ha whoops. also I don’t quite know how to end it.

a short post-CW fic where Tony and Vision talk about Wanda while boxing up some of her stuff for safekeeping, mostly because I want an excuse to make Tony remember she’s a person, not a walking time bomb or whatever

other ficlets that I meant to crank out in one or two sittings but didn’t, like the one where Loki accidentally ends up with a dog, and anyway I need to go fall asleep now
