What is “Thoorion”?
A little guide! Written by thrautistic!
Okay, so. You’re probably asking “How in the actual fuck did you come up with this ship?”
The answer is, I didn’t! My friend did, actually. @mitthurfian on Twitter! Check them out, they’re cool as fuck.
Marchion Ro, if you didn’t know, is the big bad of Star Wars: The High Republic. He is the “Eye of the Nihil” and leads the Nihil against the High Republic.
Thooraki, full name Mitth’oor’akiord, is the Mitth Patriarch, featured most prominently in the book “Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising”. He dies of old age in Greater Good.
Now. What the hell do these characters have to do with eachother?
Well.
Nothing.
This is all based on headcanons, and stories that me and mitthurfian came up with.
Below, a majority of things stated are headcanons. Be aware of that.
In this story and timeline, chiss live way longer than humans. They can live on for centuries and age slowly after reaching puberty.
Thooraki was alive during The High Republic era, as a Syndic Prime. A snobbish, arrogant young man. He sees everything as a political move.
Marchion and Thooraki meet sometime after the Great Hyperspace Disaster, but before the attack on Valo. Thooraki is on an Outer Rim planet for political purposes, but was unfortunately put in a tough situation.
The Nihil raid this planet, with Marchion leading the attack. Thooraki attempts to escape, but Ro takes interest in his ship. To him, it’s unique and he’d like to know more.
And so he goes to learn. He storms into the ship, and meets Thooraki.
Ro is smitten. After he kills all the servants on board and scaring the absolute shit out of Thooraki, he goes to him. He stares. But also mocks him.
He ends up zoning out, staring into the angry chiss’ eyes. He’s beautiful, a magnificent man. Marchion doesn’t even know what he feels, as he has never felt love before. He lets Thooraki live, after learning what he was. And then leaves the planet.
He is confused- he feels as though he’s under a curse- plagued by thoughts of fondness. He’s in love. But he doesn’t know that. He doesn’t know what a crush is. Asgar and Shalla never taught him these things.
So he seeks out Thooraki.
And that’s where we end this post. They are doomed toxic yaoi. Oh and they’re T4T.
We will be writing a fanfic of this story, that will likely be published on my ao3!
Thank you for reading!!!

A thought: Emperor Thrawn.
During Treason there is a scene where I believe it is Ar'alani is questioning Thrawn's loyalty and makes a comment about him taking over the Empire in Palpatine's stead.
Then in the Acendancy books, Patriarch Thooraki makes a comment about Thrawn being meant to lead something greater, maybe even the Acendancy.
This is all from memory so I'm probably wrong on the exact quotes, but it would scream worthy if Thrawn was the Emperor. I know logically, he would never because of his aversion to politics, but still...he would be so powerful.
I'm going to make a collage of all of the references that I can find.

Notes- Modern Star Wars pt.3
Return to File
Recovery date: September 6th, 2022
Description: N/a
Notes: N/a
Parts: 1 2 3 4
Back to directory
Tumblr media
-Thrawn and Ar'alani are adopted by Ba'kif
- Thooraki had originally adopted Thrawn, which is why his name is still Thrawn(because Chiss naming conventions), but Ba'kif adopted him after the latter's passing and didn't change Thrawn's name
- in this AU Thooraki passes when Thrawn is still sort of young (maybe 16-17) so Ba'kif's adoption is more a formality, and the chiss family adoption thing is a much more direct adoption/guardianship thing
-Ar'alani was disowned before Ba'kif adopted her (probably 10 or so, she's adopted much earlier than Thrawn) which is why her name isn't Ziara
- The Chiss Ascendancy is an island country up north of the AU planet, it's icy
- All three are military, probably air force, but Thrawn has quite the art hobby
- Thalias is Che'ri's foster mom, Thalias is an adopted cousin of Thrawn and Ar'alani
- the sky walkers (not skywalker family) are more like a girl scout(?) thing in this AU, maybe, I'm not quite sure what to do with them
- I sort of imagine it like a kind of foster sytem
- Che'ri becomes a pilot when she grows up, Thalias is a teacher
- Ani and Thrawn bump into eachother on a military mission (idk how military stuff works) and sorta keep in contact, this is how Thrawn winds up meeting the Ghost crew
-he visits Ani one day and Ezra's doing a project with the twins and meets Thrawn
- I started Thrawn, so now Eli is here😁 (note, there are 2 separate pathways for Thrawn and Eli's careers below)
- Eli and Thrawn met when Thrawn transfered to Courscant's military (some militaries allow their soldiers to serve under allies... or something like that... I think)
- Eli was doing a boot camp because why not and sort of got dragged into being Thrawn's translator*
- Thrawn eventually returns to the Ascendancy after a brief period, his exile in this is just him temporarily being deployed under Courscant
- OR some dumbass thought Thrawn's interest in other cultures made him a good, and I use this word loosely because it's Thrawn, diplomat and he met Eli while visiting to see how their military runs stuff
- in this AU Eli does get his wish of being a supply officer, but he mostly runs military supplies especially for things involving Thrawn (I don't know how anything military works, incase you couldn't tell)
- later he ends up resigning from his Republic job and joins the Ascendancy, being placed under Ar'alani who usually asigns him to Thrawn (they are a set, I refuse seperation)
- Alternatively, and while I lean towards this point as their canon AU occupations my previous points more closely align with canon so I've left them in, highschool math teacher Eli and Art theory professor Thrawn
- They meet completely by chance while Thrawn visits Lysatra to look at the local art and stuff, Eli is chauffering a trip and Thrawn ends up giving an analysis to the students
- Something in the museum sparks a conversation and Thrawn is exposed to Eli's numerical and mathematic genius, and he, in a very Thrawn fashion, suggests Eli pursue a career as a math professor
- Eli is very adamant that he's happy as a highschool math teacher, cut to him dealing with a group of teens trying to do something stupid, so Thrawn decides he wants to see what's so great about these kids and offers to do a small camp/ guest speaker thing for art and history (both of which he has degrees and published papers in)
- Thrawn cannot deal with teens, Eli is mildly amused until he somehow gets assigned as Thrawn's aide (why not the art or history teacher? I'll give you a hint, Si Bysti, because while it is a trade language Eli only knows it because his parents owned a shipment company)
- Tbf that could be an AU of its own, highschool math teacher Eli and art theory professor Thrawn
- In this route he would meet Anakin while doing research for one of his history papers on modern vs old strategies or something, Anakin was one of his sources
- alternatively alternatively, and this is more of a crack route, they could have a Castle thing going on. Maybe Eli is a police cadet and Thrawn is an artist that takes an intrest in drawing Eli while on duty
- seriously these Thrawn and Eli AUs could be a post of their own
- In this AU I would say the Republic works sort of like the U.S/Canada with the various territories being the main Star Wars planets that are under Republic/Empire rule (so Courscant, Naboo, Lothal, ect.)
- Ryloth would be a neighboring nation for example, same with Lysatra and Lira San, the unknown region is spread out throughout the world based on canon climate and are just fairly reclusive nations
*the reason for them being in two wildly different carrier places(Eli taking a random camp and Thrawn being in a proper military career) is because while neither of their ages are confirmed, I saw some thing guessing Eli is probably at least 17 in Thrawn and Thrawn is in his mid to late 20s in Ascendancy

Yes. When Thrass learned I had some sort of peerage from Venerate Thooraki. That's why he called me brother.

okay okay okay, this memory was ALOT guys, I mean 🥰🥺🤭🥺😭😭🥺🥰🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
I'm going to screech about them again under the cut
Thooraki referred to them as a team. A TEAM. WAAAANANSNFNDKSK 😭😭😭😭 Does that remind anyone else of two other star wars characters??? Also referred to as a team???? Who also called each other brother??? WHO ALSO HAD A TRAGIC ENDING??! 😭😭😭 WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME TIMOTHY? Using my two favourite characters, Obi-Wan and Anakin, to make me cry about my two new faves. This hurts okay, I just...Star Wars parallels always break my heart
But also, can we just look at this conversation:
"I don't doubt it," Thooraki said. "But now, it wasn't your contribution or your family status that tipped the balance. We decided that it would be best if you and Thrawn weren't quite so obviously a team."
Thrass frowned. "What kind of team?"
"The best kind," Thooraki assured him. "The two of you combine impressive political and military skills, which will put the Mitth in position to influence future decisions in both the Syndicure and the Council. The kind of team that can only be achieved by people who know each other, trust each other, and can work fully in sync. A team of kin, of friends-" He gave Thrass a faint smile." -of brothers."
SKNDKDK 😭😭😭😭😭 I'm crying okay, gosh, the similarities between their relationship and Obi-Wan's and Anakin's is too much for me. AND THEN....
Brother. Yes, he decided: That word had a proper ring to it. And just as Thrawn had never had a brother, neither had he.
AND ALSO...
Were Thrass and Thrawn really destined to do great things for the Mitth? Were they really going to be-?
He smiled to himself at the phrase that popped into his mind. Brothers-in-arms.
But really, why not? If Thooraki was right, that was indeed what the two of them had already become. The man born to be a privileged member of the family, teaming up with the promising outsider who'd been welcomed in. In many ways it echoed like an old legend brought to new life.
Thrawn was right. None knew what the future held. But Thrass was going to give it all he could, for the honor of the Mitth and the glory of the Ascendancy. Or he would die try.
I cant take it... 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good Chapter 23 - Chapter 26
Chapter 23
Apros calls up Lakinda with Thrawn tagging in
Apros and Thrawn: A bit weird how three families are on this “emergency” thing amirite?
Lakinda: Now that you mention it...
Thrawn lays out the obvious, with help from Apros
the whole thing is a scam. Sunrise is being mined and destroyed for nyix
and the Agbui likely incited a civil war
Lakinda manages to put it together: “Three of the Great Forty Families are preparing to fight to the death,” with Apros pointing out that because “each of the three is allied to one of the Ruling Families,” a civil war would likely break out
Lakinda realizes the seriousness of the situation and tells Thrawn and Apros that “if accomplishing the mission requires the destruction of my two ships, understand that we - and I - are expendable.”
Haplif is just about to leave, convinced he has gotten everything wrapped up and tried in a bow when LAKPHRO!!!!!
*air horns gif*
and he is ready to fight
Lakphro lets on that he knows what is going on (and that he has been communicating with other Chiss about this) and Haplif just decides that he is gunna have to k i l l him
Lakphro is smart, gotta give him credit
Haplif thinks he can strangle Lakphro out, but he ends up killing himself when a dog grips onto his arm, biting down hard. Haplif tries to stun the dog and kills it, but the dog ends up clenching down (I think in a death grip) so hard that Haplif’s arm is torn apart and he succumbs to his injuries
The last thing he sees is Lakphro staring down at him as Shimkif escapes in the ship
Shimkif is coooooold
Chapter 24
Lakynm is very distraught at the thought of firing on his own family
and that his family is allied with certain families while the Mitth family is allied with other families
Samakro offers him cold comfort
and that is: “I have never - never - seen anyone as utterly incompetent as politics as he is” and that “when Thrawn comes up with a plan, it’s strictly military. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Lakinda manages to get to Sunrise first, with the Erighal and Pommrio right behind her
and they managed to send in two haughty idiots
and the Erighal seem itchy for a fight
so Thrawn’s plan is to make the other families think that the Springhawk is under attack by enemies to focus their attention not on the mines but on helping other Chiss
Lakinda assumes command
when the two douche-canoes attempt to pull rank, Lakinda puts her foot down
one of them makes the point he is blood and she isn’t
okay, you inbred snob, Lakinda still outranks you. suck the suck
Thrawn managed to figure out that by assigning certain fleet warriors to certain ships, (i.e. family members to family ships) they would know where to attack “with a maximum of ferocity and a minimum of actual damage.”
the Chiss warriors assigned to each gunboat (safely inside the Vigilant) are picked off one by one
if nothing else, good target practice
Chapter 25
Lakinda discovers a fatal flaw within Thrawn’s plan and sends him a message:
the Erighal and Pommrio will want to investigate the mines and will subsequently become outraged and look for someone to blame
Lakinda suggests taking down the Watith freighter into the fake mine
Her subordinates - whose name she cannot remember (and I feel like Zahn may have cut some names out, Lord knows there are enough already!) - hear the message and remove her from Command
Thrawn gets the message
and needs to destroy the mine so no evidence is found
and the Grayshrike pops into the battle!
This is such a whack-a-doodle process, but if I had to sum it down:
Thrawn has to explain to the two ladies - Thalias and Che’ri - that the battle is being recorded and will be analyzed by future analysts. Every move counts.
basically, Che’ri is being asked to see “something that isn’t going to happen” and make it happen
she is literally backseat driving!
Chapter 26
So this ending is very abrupt and takes place weeks after Chapter 25
Lakphro is being question by Lakooni:
and he lies when asked if he knew where the jewelry ended up
he lies and says he doesn’t
and I am assuming the jewelry is still with Thrawn
Samakro may talk a little - s h i t - on Thrawn, but he ain’t no snitch
and the Families involved are not talking either
Samakro still doesn’t trust Thalias
assume that the story he sold he is being sat on because no one has spread it yet?
or maybe she did not tell anyone?
dude?
You need to get laid too, dude
Jixtus isn’t particularly upset with the outcome
which is like.... weird? not even a small temper tantrum?
anyway he is confirmed to be a Grysk
and he is hanging out with the purple robes navigators, the same ones that hung out with Snoke
Jixtus has a plan for Thrawn: “Defeat isn’t always necessary. Isolation and neutralization can be equally effective.”
and Qilori is assigned to learn “how exactly the Chiss navigate through the Chaos”
I am already thinking ahead to the little kids from Thrawn: Alliances
No one from the incident over Sunrise is talking about what actually happened
It is arranged in a way to make it look like Thrawn was attacked but the three families saved his life
if you want someone to keep a secret, trust the Chiss I guess
and everyone just buys this stupid premise? That Thrawn would ever let someone get the upper hand on him and these three families just happened to be nearby to help him?
pfffffffft...
Lakinda is on the outs with the Xoldak family, to the point that family members are calling for her expulsion
and no one leaked her conversation with Thrawn?
Zistalmu offers to make Lakinda a Trial-born Irizi
and if she passes, her name would be Ziinda
I wanna know what the Irizi Family Trials would look like
Thurfian receives the call that the Patriarch has died
off-screen?!!?!?!?!
we didn’t get to see him again?!!?!?
I legit forgot his name too (its Thooraki)
Thurfian is made Patriarch outta nowhere
this would have been nice to know about, Zahn!
Thivik, a Senior Aide, drops by who lets him know that he’s going to be given access to two things:
(1) the true, ancient, and suppressed history of the Mitth
(2) and about the terrible Alien weapon is known as the Starflash
Sooo... I immediately thought it was the Death Star
BUT - this takes place in 18 BBY and the Death Star was not fully functional until 0 BBY
If you look up a screenrant.com article on this very topic, they propose the theory that the Ancient Sith could have caused the Chaos in a power grab, to defend themselves against enemy fleets, or as a hiding place
I wanna see Sith!!!!
I wanna learn the answers to these mysteries!!

Thooraki, sitting by the window and watching Marchion walk away: Ch'od dammit, that man is unbelievable.
Iceesat, brushing his hair: What did Patriarch Zififerenc tell you about comparing yourself to other men?
Thooraki: Oh, you misunderstand, Patriarch Iseecat. The only thing I'm comparing is the space between his legs and how well I'll fit.
