The thing that really fucks me up after that episode is Anakin telling Ahsoka that he has to train her as a soldier.

Obi-Wan was given a special case Padawan, yes, but most of Anakin's formative years were spent in peacetime.

Ahsoka was shunted into a war as a child and told to be a peacekeeper, detached, everything the Jedi stood for, but also a soldier and a Commander. This is such a conflict in terms!

And things go the way they went and Ahsoka left the Jedi Order.

I can't help but think when Anakin says "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil!" that Ahsoka, too, was on his mind.

If live action Ahsoka has only one fan, I'm that fan. I think she looks absolutely amazing after they updated her look, I have so few nitpicks they don't count. I can't with good conscience accept TCW and PT Anakin as the same character if I were to whine like some folks about her being "less snippy" or "not sounding exactly the same". I love her. I sincerely do.

OT? Amazing, classic. Prequels? Hilarious and soul crushing. The Clone Wars? a masterpiece. Sequels? Need more love, even if you don't like them! The Mandalorian? A show stopping comeback! Rogue One and Solo? Great solo stories! Book of Boba Fett? A simple show trying to make its way in the galaxy and it's doing great. Kenobi? Heart wrenching. Rebels? Humorous and amazing! The Bad Batch? I love me some clone hijinks! Andor? Amazing storytelling and powerful messages!!

Legends and EU? Awesome!! Canon? Also incredible! The games? So much fun!

I just want more positivity in this fandom. It can get really toxic always being critical.

Why I love the Bad Batch: A deeper analysis nobody asked for 😅😁

I think I’m starting to realize the deeper reasons as to why I love “The Bad Batch” so much...

I mean, there’s the obvious: it’s a good show, the characters are awesome and fun (and certain ones are hot as hell 🥵 Y’all know who I’m talking about), there are a lot of good morals and lessons in each episode, but upon reflection, I’m starting to realize why this show resonates with me so much...and it all comes back to this quote in the Clone Wars episode where we first the boys of Clone Force 99.

For those of you who don’t know, I work in special education. I’ve been a para or an aide who works with special needs kids and I’ve been doing that for over a decade in different capacities, but mostly in schools. I work every day with a range of kids who are seen as different. I work with higher-functioning kids that need academic help and have ADHD, dyslexia, high-functioning autism, etc., and I also work with more physically and mentally-disabled children, like kids with Downs Syndrome, etc. All of the kids I work with are different than most in one way or another. This quote from Clone Wars stuck with me since I first saw it and I loved it. I actually have it as part of my email signature at work, so anyone who sees an email from me reads that, too. I felt it was perfect for my line of work. Embracing those who are seen as different can really fill a void in your heart and soul and some of those people can be the sweetest, most loving individuals you’ll ever meet in your life. I had friends who were special needs growing up, I have autistic cousins and I’ve also been fortunate to work currently and in the past at schools where the special ed students are loved and accepted by their gen ed peers and I’ve had some students who have worked with them that have said they absolutely love it. This line of work is very fulfilling, which is why I firmly believe the second half of the quote above that says “for that makes you whole”. I have a lot of experience being around people that are different from “normal” people.

The Bad Batch are seen as different from “regular” Clones.

I’m not saying that the Bad Batch are special needs individuals or anything, but they have certain things about them that differentiate them from everyone else, some physical and some mental, just like the students I’ve worked with. Society, however, looks at them and sees them as freaks or not as important as other Clones. Their whole situation just resonated with me from the very beginning. I’m someone who sees another person get treated badly because they’re different or special needs and I just get furious. I recently came across a TikTok where it was a social experiment with a rude customer in a restaurant being horrible to a young man with Downs Syndrome. At first, I couldn’t tell it wasn’t real and I was about ready to scream at some of the things the customer was saying. Even after I realized it was all staged and they were experimenting to see how other people would react, I was still just fuming because that sort of behavior is just unacceptable. I saw the Bad Batch being treated that way and I remember feeling something similar the first time. Even though they might look different and have different traits than everyone else, why should the Bad Batch be treated badly?

We see Rex embrace the Bad Batch for their differences and he came to realize that they were excellent at what they do and were good men, even praising them as “the finest soldiers he’d ever fought alongside”. We see Echo embrace them for their differences because he himself found that he was now different from the rest of the Clones after his experiences at the Citadel and Skako Minor and he found himself another squad to belong to. We see Omega embrace them for their differences and she finds safety and the family she’s always wanted with them. Just because someone looks different or acts different than you for any reason, whether it’s a disability or not, doesn’t make them less of a person. We are all human and we all deserve to be loved.

What I also find inspiring is that the Bad Batch know they’re different and they too embrace themselves and their differences. They know who they are and nothing anyone else says influences the way they see themselves and each other and I think that’s something we all sometimes struggle with. It’s easy to take the negative things people say about us to heart and let them make us miserable, but if you really know who you are and accept everything about yourself, including your flaws, then nothing anyone can say can affect you. We all should learn to embrace our own differences and that too can make you feel whole. When you know you’re different from other people, accept it and are even proud of it, then you will find that life will be a lot happier that way 😊 Of course, I understand in some cases that can be easier said than done, but it’s never too late to start! It took me a long time to accept certain things about myself, but once I embraced the fact that I’m a nerd and that I’m crazy about different things than other people might be, I’ve been a lot happier and have a much more positive outlook on myself as well as better self-esteem. Be proud of who you are! 💜

Embracing others for their differences truly does make you whole. I see that lesson not only with the Bad Batch, but I’ve learned that with my work helping special ed students in several different capacities and it has truly blessed my life. It’s something that has influenced me and how I treat others in many ways.

That is just another reason to add to my ever-growing list of why I love the Bad Batch so much 🥰💜

Rewatching the Star Wars Movies Part 1!

and now I notice the little details seeing as I am older!

Damn I hope there do be no typos in this rant I spent so much time and energy on….

So:

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away….

I watched Star Wars the Phantom Menace again- one of my favourite movies of all time! And I realised that I could notice more details than usual and reflect on the meaning of particular scenes this time around!

- Padmé’s first ever entrance proves she is all business, is a fashionista and is a powerful woman who will not let any force of evil ruin innocent people’s lives

- I am so amazed that I am able to tell the difference between Sabé and Padmé now! I really want Keira Knightly to return as Padmé. Perhaps this is far-fetched- but in the Ahsoka series?!

- Otoh Gunga- the long shots of Obi and Qui swimming after Jar Jar towards the glowing Cory is gorgeous- but I wonder- how long did the city take to build? And how did they get all the resources down there? Why are the outside materials not rusting??!

- The way Obi-wan walks with his large robe sleeves makes him look so cute and tiny

- Ric Olié is such a dedicated, skilled pilot- I love how he is like Ani’s first mentor who teaches him the terms of the cockpit

- Obi-wan and his tendency to be like “picked up another pathetic life form” is 😂

- Ani being so respectful to his mumma is so cute. Shmi is so gentle- yet she will be forthright with her opinion and stubborn when she’s needs to protect Ani- she would have been an amazing grandma- and she would have shipped Anakin and Padmé so hard! I can just imagine the flustered, embarrassed 19 or 20-year-old Ani when they head to Tatooine after Anakin’s nightmares and Shmi is sharing embarrassing childhood stories about Anakin to Padmé. And the soft smile that would etch itself on her face when she walks in on Anakin and Padmé snuggled close to each other as they stay a night at the Skywalker-Lars homestead. Yes it just so happened that there were not enough beds so Anakin and Padmé had to share one- both were so nervous yet secretly thrilled to cuddle each other as they fell asleep 😴

- That conversation at the dinner table about how Anakin wants to finish a device to detect the slaving transmitters in the back of slaves’ necks makes me wish he and Padmé lived happily ever after on Naboo. They would go on fun adventures with their many children- Luke, Leia, Mila (after Milaflower), Jinn and another baby on the way, going to the snowy world of Hoth and swimming in the lakes of Naboo. When Anidala would want their hard-earned date week every 2 months or so, they would drop the kids off for 1 week with Sabé and the handmaiden gang (or Obi, Rex and Ahsoka?) so they could have a romantic vacation on Tatooine. But at the same time Anidala were investigating the slave situation and were being updated on the progress Sabé and Tonra had made by shipping freed slaves off world.

- The fluffy beard makes Ki-Ado seem like space Santa is swear

- I just noticed how upset and guilty Padmé appears when she suggests a vote of no confidence for poor, confused Valorum- she wants to immediately aid her struggling people but also feels wrong for ruining the career of confused Valorum

- Like frick off Palpatine he’s all smiling and like “I am going for Chancellor Yipee” and Padmé does not want to hear it! She realises there is more significant issues to worry about- *cough* and a *cough* “our people are dying in labour camps”! Ahah her feminist and stubbornness is shining through like a beacon!

- How soft Padmé’s features are and how gorgeous and intricately detailed her queen outfits are enhance her beauty yet symbolise how young she truly is

- Mace’s head shines so much at night time I swear

- I love how Qui-gon brushes off Obi’s negativity all the time and knows where how to focus his attention on the present and his passiona

- I actual burst out laughing when Ani was like ‘Qui-gon, Sir, I don’t wanna be a problem…”

- The elegant yet purposeful way the handmaidens stride onto the silver ship is so beautiful

- In the scene where Nute Gunray communicates with hologram Palpatine, I only just noticed the beautiful sculptures. These sculptures prove how much the Naboo people value art and express their creativity by surrounding themselves with decorations that have meaning

- Swampy Naboo giving Endor vibes damn

- I adore the bewilderment of Ani, Jar Jar and my Jedi boys when Padmé reveals herself as queen and everyone is like “what the the frick???”

- Maul’s staring into my soul! Ghost Padmé save me from the scary boy

- The strategic mind of Padmé is so inspiring- I love my intelligent gurl. She’s like- “ we make a diversion, we will use pilots to knock out the droid ship and we have Artoo’s strategic plan saved in his data bank—-”

- The fog and creepy bird noises as the Gungans march out onto the fields of Naboo builds some awesome suspense

- The droid army tanks moving sound like airplanes damn

- The handmaidens in battle action and being able to see their intricate hair buns is pretty sweet- I believe Eirtaé is the only blond handmaiden!

- Rest in peace that poor pilot who immediately crashed in the grassy Naboo fields

- ooh! I love how one of the Bravo pilots was a woman! Look at Naboo letting all genders be empowered, go my favourite planet!

- I love them oversized, glowing blueberries Jar Jar is still learning to throw

- Oh my Force! Sith are such dramatic turds I swear 😂 Darth Maul standing there menacingly, slowly lifting his eyes to death glare Obi and Qui-gon, alongside the music is killing me

- Maul flashing his teethies like a dog is hilarious 😆

- Maybe Jar Jar do be a sith… I mean, when his foot got tangled in the wiring of a battle droid and as he clumsily tried to escape the wire snaking around him- he managed to shoot many droids…

- Artoo is like man why the hell I gotta babysit this blond beach boy when I could be destroying the space station in like 2 minutes

- Qui-gon being stabbed brought me on the verge of tears. But I could not help but notice that, in the close up after he was stabbed so cruelly, his eyes sparkled a really deep blue- I never noticed he had sky blue eyes until then damn

-I love how prepared Padmé is with blasters resting in her secret throne compartment

- It was like a Star exploding seeing the Trade Federarion ship go BOOM

- The love in Qui-gon’s eyes as he strokes Obi’s cheek- I MISS HiM YOUR HONOUR

- SASSY PANAKA- “I think you can kiss your Trade franchise goodbye.” gIVes ME LiFE

- My favourite handmaiden outfit is the golden hooded robe after the end of the Invasion of Naboo

- Yoda is so scary when he frustrated DAMN! Agree with you the COUNCIL DOES NOT!!!

- In the funeral scene, I never noticed George Lucas’s little sneaky camera close up. After Mace exclaims- “but which was destroyed- the master or apprentice?” It zooms in on Palpatine’s face and fuzzes out everyone else- Foreshadowing is impeccabile here! Never noticed it when I was younger!

- Mwhaah- I noticed in a scene a few seconds before the movie ends that there was a handmaiden standing behind Obi in a beautiful, silverish, grey cloak. At first I was like- “hey that looks like Sabé!” I then had to skip back to the scene once the credits started rolling- and I took a picture of the face! I think I am right- the face seems to boast the features of Keira Knightly! Take a look for yourself:

I know the fandom can be problematic but most of things I see on my social media are overwhelmingly positive and I love you all so much. I pity those who’ve watched TCW, TBB and Andor that haven’t been able to experience the enrichment that I have on here, TikTok and Twitter.

On that note, I do find it disturbing to know not everyone has experienced the positivity I have been blessed with. I hope Star Wars creators and the fandom do a better job of promoting inclusivity and diversity in the future.

"Luke Skywalker isn’t like the old Jedi. He saves Vader with his attachments!”

Wrong!

Luke Skywalker, at the end of Return of the Jedi, after his confrontation with the Emperor drags Darth Vader through the destructing Death Star. He’s desperate, knuckles white under the heavy weight of his father’s body, a little boy dragging his dad to safety. He sets Vader down for a moment, to catch his breath or maybe to get a better grip. He goes to grab Vader again, but Vader, uncomfortable and in pain, asks Luke to take off the mask. He wants to see Luke through his eyes instead of the eyes Palpatine built for him. Luke refuses, says that removing the mask is a sure way for Vader to die. Luke doesn’t want Vader dead, he wants Vader alive. Not to hold him accountable for his many evil acts, but for the same reason why Luke Skywalker can’t kill Darth Vader; Vader is his father and Luke loves him.

And yet, after a moment, Luke removes Vader’s mask. He doesn’t want to, he hesitates, but he removes the mask with enough slowness to allow Vader to take it back. In that moment, Luke sets aside his desire for Vader in his life, sets aside his desire to see him live, and sets aside his entire mission, the reason he was even on the Death Star in the place. In his compassion for his father, Luke stays with Vader until he dies. It is this moment where we see him be the best damn Jedi he can be. I’d even argue that this moment is the greatest example of non-attached love we see. Because Luke lets Vader go! He lets his father die, and in some ways, by removing the mask, he too kills Vader, he stays with him until his last moment, gives him the kindness of granting his last wish and finally chooses Vader.

And Luke doesn’t have to do this. If Luke Skywalker’s love for his father was an attachment, he would ignore Vader and continue dragging him to the escape pod, put his desire for a father as his central focus and ignore Vader’s wants and discomfort. Maybe he would even save him. But he doesn’t. Instead, he watches as Vader dies.

He builds a Jedi burial for his father and watches it burn the remnants of Vader and Anakin Skywalker away. He mourns Vader, he mourns what they could’ve had as father and son, considers what ifs and maybe-if-I-did-this. Vader/ Anakin is released from his mortal body, from his ‘crude matter’ and Luke lets him go. He says one final goodbye to Anakin. Then, he joins Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando, and the rest of the Rebels and celebrates their victory. He lives in the present and celebrates what he has instead of what he lost.

Luke Skywalker is THE Jedi. Everything about Luke Skywalker serves as the foundational cornerstone of the Jedi, everything about the Jedi as a culture and philosophy is reflected in his character. Luke’s desire for the New Jedi Order isn’t to throw away the values of the old Order, but to vitalise them, breathe life back into dying lungs, and rebuild a path that people set out on their way to destroy. (Yes, his Order is different from the Old, but that’s because it has to be. He doesn’t have the resources or the safety of the Old Order.) The philosophies of the Jedi are difficult and they aren’t for everyone, and like the perfect Jedi that Luke is, he struggles and stumbles and sometimes he even rejects it. But, no matter how far he falls, it is a way of life he chooses again and again and again. It is a way of life that welcomes him back each time

okay but can we talk about how fucking good the food would be in the Jedi Temple?? and all of the absolutely fucking baller and totally unique fusion dishes that would have to exist?? they're by far the most diverse group of beings we see in star wars, with lineages made up of people from all across the galaxy. the best food in that galaxy has got to be something from a lineage dinner table that's been made and modified by generations of Jedi and no-one ever wrote down
