headcanon + his squad . 💕🐥
send  me  ‘ headcanon ‘  +  a  word: still accepting.
Levi's squad. Levi's feelings surrounding his unit are very similar to his feelings surrounding family — and that is, they are his family. Deeply, he will always care for them. He may come across as unapproachable, even emotionally stagnated, but the way they've toppled his walls is something oh so plainly undeniable. They have his utmost respect, have won his unfledging need to keep them safe, and he'll risk fire and hell if they can come back alive — though survival, he understands, is no guarantee. Still, Levi, humanity's strongest soldier, does his god damn best. They work in Special Operations, have experienced the very worst together, and every body they've buried, they've buried side by side. They've had the highest of highs and the bitterest of lows. They are a unit, a family, have bonds that'll never suffer, and when Levi's retired, no longer dressed in uniform, they'll still look right at him like he still leads.
And, you know what? In a way, he still sort of does. He might have never been overly warm or flattering, sure, but during hard times, his presence was always infallible. In his retirement, Levi still offers up pragmatic advice (and Mikasa, I imagine, visits most of all). He's always had a weight, has shouldered the dreams of the hundreds of fallen, and in that way, I think Levi has an undeniable wisdom, a sort of sense and rationality his unit values. Being older than them as well, he'll find them confiding in him every now and again, and he'll grumble lamely saying he's no longer Captain, but they know that isn't true — and he does, too.

it feels like armin and jean started off the expedition a little distant (ofc they interacted as cadets, but seeing as jean and eren disliked each other and armin is erens best friend, i dont imagine they got to talk much), i mean, jean even comments on the somewhat poor opinion he had of armin.
by the end of it, tho, after all the conversations they had abt what was happening in the forest, what was erwins plan and the entire struggle w the female titan, they realized they actually see eye to eye on many things and its clear jean fosters a good bit of respect for armin
AND I THINK THATS NEAT and i appreciate it

Hey!if you do headcanons can you do platonic relationship headcanons for Mikasa and Reiner and maybe a parental relationship with Levi?also you don’t have to do all of them lolol (and I would prefer a fem reader please!)
aot platonic relationship headcannons
Tumblr media
ft — levi ackerman, mikasa ackerman, reiner braun.
warnings — none, which is surprising for something aot related
a/n — MY FIRST REQUEST! I’M SO HAPPY!
Tumblr media
LEVI ACKERMAN
you and all the rest of the gang lowkey viewed levi as a father figure of some sorts.
it makes sense since you were orphaned and young, craving for parental affection and stuff.
you all had been through a lot together, and levi’s dealt with a lot of loss in his lifetime.
he would let the beast titan chuck him like a baseball before ever admitting he held any amount of care for you (but we all know it’s in there somewhere).
he’s a great mentor and parental figure, despite being harsh.
i definitely feel like you could just go and vent to him about whatever, and he’d either just sit there and listen silently or give a few words of advice.
DEFINITELY the type to scold you. you and the crew would be doing all kinds of shit (obv spurred on by hange) and he’d be on the verge of losing his shit.
“for god’s sake, would you all just FUCK O–”
but usually when he’s annoyed by your antics, he’d just glare at you or say “tch..” under his breath.
a great hand to hand combat teacher, but you’d get absolutely shitted on whenever you’d fight him.
he’d blankly state where you went wrong, what you could’ve done, or if you missed a blind spot as he’s throwing out punches and sidestepping.
after the sessions, you’d always leave with a bunch of muscle pain and bruises.
calls you brat so frequently to the point it was a bit of a shocker whenever he’d call you by your actual name.
you and the squad have accidentally called him ‘dad’ on MANY occasions and usually he’d just side eye you.
gets so MAD whenever a place is unclean or if you’ve made a mess.
“y/n.. get over here. clean this mess you’ve made.
“on it dad!” you’d salute and he’d threaten to throw you into a titans mouth if you didn’t hurry the fuck up.
overall, a traumatised man makes an elite parental figure for a bunch of equally traumatised teenagers.
MIKASA ACKERMAN
you guys met in the cadet corps, and you were basically in awe with how she seemed to do everything so effortlessly.
you noticed how she hung around with eren and armin a lot, but stayed alone whenever all the girls stayed in the barracks.
it wasn’t that she was hostile, she was just quiet and probably passed the eyes of a lot of people.
you decided to make your way up to her and strike up a conversation. at first, you could tell she was quite reserved, but overtime as your friendship blossomed you grew fond of her dry humour and passive expression.
through mikasa, you also grew quite close to eren and armin.
through you, mikasa got closer to the rest of the squad.
DEFINITELY the mother hen of the group.
constantly badgering you over injuries you suffered, or telling you to eat or to get some rest.
would probably slam you during training sessions, but would try her best to help you with technique and forms.
i feel like she’s the type of person to ominously hover behind you as you’re talking to someone else and kinda just stare at them until they get uncomfortable and leave.
it wouldn’t even be on purpose, she just wanted to hang around you silently.
HOWEVER, could definitely scare off someone who’s visibly pissing you off with a silent death stare.
the best person to tell secrets to, she would never tell a soul.
late night talks where you’d just talk about everything and anything under the stars.
she’d open up to you about eren and the mixed feelings she felt about him.
you’d also open up to her about whatever, and she’d be the best listener.
gives very straightforward advice but it’s oddly comforting.
overall, a 10/10 friend in whether you want someone to confide in, or someone to beat a dude’s ass.
REINER BRAUN (before the armoured titan reveal)
best older brother figure!!!!!
for some reason, it felt easy to trust him.
he was just a dude everyone liked and respected, since he was so good natured and down to earth.
he’d also give crazy bear hugs.
you’d widen your arms for a casual hug and he’d absolutely engulf you.
it may or may not seem like it, but he’s got a great sense of humour.
i feel like he’d be scarily good at card games.
he’d teach you how to shuffle and how to play loads of random games.
the only time you were ever able to beat him was in a game of snap, but that was only because he sneezed the moment the cards were matched up and you slapped your hands on top of them.
you cheer and celebrate, and he just lets you have it despite the unfair circumstances.
but don’t think he’ll ever let you win again.
has really good vibes and is just a guy you can’t hate.
overall, a very great and supportive buddy.

"Smiles & Frosting" { Levi x Reader Oneshot }
⊹₊ No CW, Just Fluff and Levi being a Dad, ♡ Also Spending time with Luna and their squad ⊹₊
♡ ໒꒰ྀིᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ꒱ྀི১

• 2,043 word count •
Synopsis:
Today is the first birthday of (y/n) and Levi's little daughter Luna, (y/n) starts to playfully put frosting at their little girl's face and Levi who is still a clean freak as always disagrees, but eventually joins in. Their squad members are also invited to the party bringing out more happiness to the little warm and cozy event,
:divider by @saradika-graphics
Tumblr media
"Tch (y/n), she's going to get all sticky and dirty with the amount of cake frosting at her fa-"
Before Levi could continue (y/n) gently strokes her thumb at Levi's face with a big warm smile on her face.
Levi felt something cold touched his skin, he then reaches to his left cheek and saw pink frosting with a few pastel colored sprinkles.
Before Levi could complain, He saw their little daughter Luna who was at (y/n) arms, she was was looking at him while cooing and giggling, her tiny hands reaching up his face while her little legs were swinging in delight.
Luna was wearing a cute little pink dress and white little mary jane shoes with a pair of cute ribbons, Her right cheek has a few streaks of pink frosting on it.
Luna was like a little version of Levi, she has his raven black hair, his gray yet blueish orbs and his complexion, but her eyes were wide and gentle just like (y/n)'s.
"Levi, she's reaching out to you." (y/n) said gently while bringing Luna closer to Levi.
"C'mere little brat, your mom got you all dirty and sticky with all of those frosting." Levi stated while gently reaching for Luna shielding her lovingly in his arms.
"Come on Levi, its her first birthday, she deserves to try the fun things like getting frosting at her face." (y/n) said while laughing and giggling at her Husband.
Levi couldn't help but stare at his wife's genuine warm and big smile, it was a very cozy and perfect sight in Levi's perspective.
All these years he was alive he thought that living in this world will only consists of fighting titans and fighting for survival, not until he met (y/n) who eventually became his squad member and significant other, as well as the first time he held his small little daughter in his arms a few minutes after her birth looking at him with the same grey yet blueish orbs he also had.
Levi's mind was back at the past only to be pulled back to the present by Luna who presses her little nose at Levi's own.
Luna giggles while looking at her father.
"Daaa!" Luna managed to say while looking at Levi with her adorable little voice, her little legs still actively swinging in excitement as she glances at her father.
"I love you too, Luna." Levi said, his orbs conveying love, affection and gentleness.
(y/n) then approaches the two,
"Luna, its time for you to blow your cake." (y/n) said softly but in a very excited tone, she then leads Levi who was still carrying Luna to the table decorated with a soft pink table cloth with cute little pearly white colored teacups and pastel colored plates. (y/n) also prepared a lot of food since their squad members are also here to celebrate with them.
Armin, Annie, Jean, Mikasa, Eren, Reiner, Connie, Sasha, Hange, and Erwin managed to attend their little daughter's birthday party.
Everyone started to smile and sing the birthday song while Levi was carrying Luna in his arms, (y/n) standing beside them her arms holding Levi's back gently and supporting their daughter's side hugging them.
"Daaa!" Luna said energetically while trying to reach her little fisted hands to the candle flame, for some reason she first learned the word "Daaa" which means daddy since she was very fond of Levi and it somehow became her favorite word.
"Hey, be careful brat you might burn your hands." Levi said protectively, as he stepped a bit backwards.
"Luna, be careful alright? The flame might hurt your hands..." (y/n) said with a loving and motherly tone as she gently puts her index finger to Luna's small little hands, Luna accepts her mother's index finger, wrapping her little hands to it.
"Maaa!" Luna responded to her mother with a big smile on her face, it felt like she understood not to touch the burning small flame at the candle anymore.
"Its funny how Luna is not as stubborn as, Captain Levi and (y/n) even though they are her parents." Connie stated in a teasing tone while Jean laughed holding his stomach.
"Hey you two, do you want Captain Levi to kick us out?" Armin asked them while trying to stop them from teasing the two parents.
"Hey, if they kick us out we wont be able to try and eat the food (y/n) prepared." Sasha said while crossing her arms and making a pouty expression, she then glances at the meat at the table prepared with mushrooms and gravy making her eyes sparkle.
"Alright thats it, if you all don't stop with the teasing I'll make sure you all clean the whole squad headquarters tonight." Levi said, his tone was commanding but it was laced with warmth and gentleness.
"Come on Levi, its Luna's birthday, loosen up a bit and let them tease. Besides its not like its false that you and (y/n) both have the stubborn and reckless attitude just like Luna." Hange laughed in a teasing tone while looking at the family of three in front of the birthday cake.
After all of the teasing and laughter, Levi and (y'n) leans forward together with Luna looking at the birthday cake and the small pink candle as they made a wish for their daughter, since Luna was not yet capable of blowing candles and only made cooing noises while trying to reach for the burning flame, Levi and (y'n) did it for her.
Luna's smile was priceless after her parents made their wish and blew her birthday candle, and everyone was in awe of the sight, it was a family of three, not to mention Captain Levi who was always a reserved person with a cold exterior, his eyes were now very gentle and filled with warmth as he looks at his daughter and his wife.
(y'n)'s gaze also held the same emotions, as she looks at Levi and their little girl with those gentle and loving gaze she always holds for them.
Later on, Sasha, Eren and Connie asks Levi if they can carry Luna with the look of anticipation written in their faces as their eyes sparkle with affection and excitement while looking at Luna.
"Tch, be careful brats if any of you accidentally drops her I'll make sure you all will regret it." Levi stated with a hint of irritation and threat as he lets Sasha hold onto the little girl who was looking at Sasha with wide eyes and a big smile at her face.
(y/n) approaches Levi placing another stroke of pink frosting at his nose this time.
"Tch I told you not to-" before Levi could continue he saw one of the most priceless and prettiest scenery again, it was his wife giggling and looking at him like a little child who saw nothing but peace and only the beautiful aspects of this world.
Levi then puts his thumb at the side of the cake, swiping it to the soft pink frosting then gently stroking his finger at (y/n)'s nose and cheeks with a hint of nothing but love and tenderness at his gaze.
(y/n) was caught a bit off guard but she steps forward embracing Levi delicately, she then cups his face with both of her hands a few of her fingers still covered with a bit of frosting.
"I love you, thank you for you, and for giving me Luna." (y/n) said her eyes converying a lot of love for him and their daughter.
"I love you too (y/n) thank you for bringing Luna to our little world." Levi said as he grabs her waist closer to him and pressing a kiss at her lips.
"You two should get a room." Erwin said while Reiner and Jean were both laughing like they've seen a dumb looking titan or something.
Hange then speaks in a teasing tone "Hey, don't you all think its a bit early to give Luna a little sister?"
"Shut up four eyes, its none of your bussiness." Levi said with a frown but later on his expression was replaced with a small smile as he looks at (y/n) again gently placing a kiss on her forehead this time.
"You hear that? I think auntie Hange and uncle Erwin is more than happy to look after Luna tonight," Levi said while looking at (y/n) with a small and playful smirk.
"I think that could be arranged, Captain." (y/n) said with a small smile and soft chuckles.
"Hey cover her eyes sasha, she can't see people kissing yet!" Connie said to Sasha who placed his hands at Luna's eyes gently to block her view of her parents kissing and being all lovingly.
"Hey brat and potato girl, didn't I tell you not to touch her face with your dirty hands?" Levi said with a hint of annoyance and threat.
"I- I'm sorry Captain, we both promise we are both clean and germs free, right Luna?" Connie asked Luna who was just smilling and giggling her little legs still swaying actively.
"Meaaaa!" Luna said while Sasha was carrying her.
"Did she just said Meat?" Eren asked while Reiner was laughing stupidly at the back while Mikasa was looking at Luna with her gently gaze.
"Did you all seriously thought her how to say meat?" (y/n) said while laughing.
A small smile made its way to Levi's lips, seeing his squad with his daughter was a very peaceful sight for him, and his wife by his side with her gaze holding nothing but love, warmth, affection and tenderness.
Annie and Mikasa then gently took Luna from Sasha and Connie, "She'll be staying with us for now, right little Luna?" Mikasa asked with a soft and gentle voice while Annie was delicately carrying her.
Armin and Eren stared at the two young scouts with awe as their cheeks both started to uncontrollably blush.
"Looks like someone has a crush." Hange nudged the two with her elbows playfully.
"He-Hey its not like that." Eren said as he playfully frowns at Hange with a shade of red still lingering on his cheeks, while armin was covering his face that looks red as strawberries.
"Lets all eat now, the food might get cold, I'll also slice the cake now." (y/n) stated as she grabbed the small dainty pastel colored plates.
Everyone had a great time, as they all celebrated Luna's first birthday.
Tumblr media
After the Birthday party was over, Luna was now peacefully sleeping at her crib which was beside (y/n) and Levi's bedside.
"Hey, you look tired." Levi said while he reaches for (y/n)'s arms encouraging her to join him at their shared bed with his already tired and heavy eyelids.
(y/n) joins him as they both tuck themselves together in their comfy shared bed, their bodies seeking warmth and comfort from each other, Levi wraps his arms around her and she did the same, her face resting at Levi's chest while he strokes her hair as they both were covered with the warm sheets of the bed.
"I really did enjoy today..." (y/n) said to Levi with her usual soft voice, her gaze softening even more.
"Our little brat is growing healthy and happily each day, I'm happy too (y/n)." Levi responded while pulling (y/n) closer to him.
"Did we both have the same wish for Luna's birthday?" (y/n) asked Levi curiously.
"I suppose yes, and I have nothing more to wish for, as I already have both of them here with me." Levi said looking at (y/n) leaning forward to her and planting a gentle kiss on her lips, he then glances at Luna who was still sleeping peacefully, his tone of voice and gaze once again laced with love and affection.
Levi and (y/n) both found peace and happiness in their little one, their little moon, that served as their light in their dark and hard moments in life.
Despite everything that happened as well as the hardships, (y/n) and Levi both knew that they'll be alright as long as they can provide a happy, loving and peaceful family to Luna, with their warm smiles and priceless cozy moments together, which they both had always wished for.
Tumblr media
I hope you all enjoy this happy and fluffy frosting filled birthday fic ♡ I'm honestly happy with how this was written, and it was a relaxing piece to write after a stressful case analysis I had to do,♡ I hope you all enjoy it too, ♡ ໒꒰ྀིᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ꒱ྀི১

I wanted to talk about this scene for a while now:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all, when Mikasa obviously very upset and raged up by female titan kidnapping Eren, she vents her anger out by blaming Levi for not being able to do his job of protecting Eren. I don't think she knows much about how the whole squad got killed by Annie.
But, Levi instead of snapping at Mikasa or getting offended by her furious statement, he chooses to not react on it. He just saw his squad dead and is definitely depressed.
The look on his face after Mikasa said that, turns grim and he looks too tired. He looks like that while returning from expedition and facing Petra's dad too. I think, the statement actually hit him more than it shows. It looks like he ignored it, but the grim look said otherwise.
He was definitely blaming himself for not reaching out there in time to save his precious squad members and was already suffering from their loss of lives. And Mikasa's statement worked like lemon on wound.
He didn't react, it's not like him. He also is a very understanding adult, for he chooses to not think Mikasa as rude for saying that. He understands she is just 15 and how Eren is a special person for her, having him taken away and endangered always make Mikasa recklessly furious. But also, I think, he thought that those words were true, he thought that it was his shortcoming for not reaching there on time.
He understands that he can't save everyone, but it's this sad realization for him that pains him the most. Being called humanity's strongest and then not being able to wondrously saving them. He sure lost and sacrificed the most, considering his closest people and friends are all dead.
He is too selfless and goal oriented ( saving and protecting humanity) that he won't wallow in self pity and he never did strike me as someone who would ponder over things he couldn't control, he did rather do something productive and make a difference. But this feeling of not being or doing enough definitely always there somewhere in his mind, he just brushes it off and focuses on what he can still do.
He lost his whole squad too, but he chooses to put aside his pain and understand Mikasa's. He was never the one to complain about his life either. He is just to selfless to do so.
This scene was a really good point for his character, how he is an understanding and thoughtful adult. How he does get affected by deaths severely and doesn't show it. How he might actually blame himself for not being able to save lives.
I don't think Levi would have too much guilt, in a way Erwin did. But he definitely sometimes blame himself for what's lost, that is not even his fault. And just shows how even a person who has been through and seen so much deaths and suffering, can still be so vulnerable to it.
Levi has treated every life as precious and meaningful, loss of this life he considers so precious and not being able to do anything, when situation is totally our of his hand, can make him depressed too. As I already said, he would still brush off those thoughts and not ponder on it. He would rather do whatever he can to help, to make sure that those lost lives weren't in vain.
For Levi not only life has meaning and worth but death does too, he will do everything in his power to give meaning to both the lives and deaths of his comrades.

The Most Unusual Day - Levi Ackerman x Female Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Levi brings your daughter to base for the day.
Word Count: 3.2k
Warnings: None that I can think of.
Author's Note: This is an AU where Levi has a daughter during the events of season one. I wanted to post some feel-good fluffy content of our man since I feel like all I've posted so far is pretty smutty. Enjoy!
* * *
“Come onnnn, Dad,” your 10-year-old daughter pleaded in a whiny tone to her father. “I wanna see where you work.”
You were cuddled up with a book on the sofa and although you were trying hard to pay attention to it, you couldn’t help but observe Levi’s reaction to her begging. Your eyes peered up beyond the top of the pages.
“Kuchel, I’ve told you time and time again it isn’t safe for you there.”
“Pleaseee? Pretty pretty pleeeeeease?”
Levi called your name with annoyance, “Can you please back me up here?”
You set the book down on your lap and took off your glasses.
“I think it’s time for you to put your title to the ultimate test,” you cocked your eyebrow. “I have no doubt in my mind that she’ll be safe with you. And you don’t have to take her for the whole day, honey. Maybe just a few hours.”
Levi pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. That’s until Kuchel reached up and grabbed his arm, making him look down at him.
“One day, I want to join the Survey Corps and be strong, just like you. Please, Dad?”
Levi and you both gave each other a worrying look. She had never said anything like that before and had absolutely no idea what lurked beyond those walls. The terror that follows. Levi seemed to take her words with a grain of salt when he dropped to balance on the balls of his feet and pushed her hair back lovingly. The sight made your heart swell.
“Alright, you can come with me tomorrow. But only for a few hours.”
* * *
Kuchel walked beside Levi as they made their way down the hall and to his office. She had been asking question after question since the moment the two stepped onto base. She was asking about the training the recruits had to go through, how many of them pass per class, and how base operations work, to name just a few. He had been getting rather tired of answering them but he also had a goal of making this a special day for the two of them.
“Where is everybody?”
“They’re out on a special mission with the other captains and commanders.”
“Why aren’t you with them?”
“Because I’m showing you around.”
“Will they be back later on?”
“Some of them.”
“What do you mean, Dad?”
“Missions usually take a pretty big toll on our soldiers. A good chunk of them always perish in battle.”
Kuchel became quiet for a moment and looked down at the ground as her feet carried her forward. The silence didn’t last long, though.
“Is your boss nice?”
“Commander Erwin gets under my skin sometimes but, yes, the man is usually pleasant to work with.”
The questions kept coming as Levi dug into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys on a ring. He plugged the key into the hole and flicked his wrist to the right, causing the large wooden door to open quietly. He motioned her to go ahead of him and she did. He eyed up the hallway before closing and locking the door. Even though he loved his daughter dearly, he couldn’t wait for this day to be over. This was beyond stressful for him.
Kuchel gasped and gaped at the appearance of his office. Her face was alight with curiosity and wonder. The sun shone in brilliantly from the windows and warmed her silhouette, endowing her with an angelic and innocent aura. She ran over to his desk and sat in his chair and nearly fell over as she did so. The curve of his lips moved upward.
“This is my office, which I am rarely in during the day.”
She swiveled back and forth, “So this is where you stay when you don’t come home?”
“Yes.”
“Cool... Where are you when you’re not here?”
“I’m in meetings or conducting missions with my squad.”
“I would love to have an office like this when I grow up,” she said as she grabbed a pen and started toying with it. Luckily she had had a bath that morning, so she was clean as a whistle from head to toe. “Can I draw something?”
“Sure.”
Levi strolled over to his desk and swiftly pulled out a drawer and fetched a few pieces of paper for her. He handed them to her and she thanked him before getting started. He planted a soft kiss on her forehead and she looked up at him with a crooked smile. She reminds him so much of you.
He informed her that he was going to go get some tea and some water. He locked the door behind him and made his way to the kitchen, noticing how eerily quiet and tranquil everything was. It was bizarre to him. He was so used to constant chaos that stillness actually made him uneasy since that’s when disaster usually strikes.
He returned to his office a few minutes later and there she was at his desk, biting on her tongue in an attempt to concentrate on the very important work she was doing. He quietly set down her glass of water next to her and proceeded to tidy his office since it was long overdue for a cleaning. Even though he wasn’t on a mission with his squad, it wasn’t any reason to slack off.
He retrieved the cleaning supplies for the background and proceeded to get to work. Before he brought the bandana up to his face, he opened up a few windows to allow for proper ventilation. The fresh summer breeze wafted through and aired out the office. He was wiping down mirrors and windows, dusting bookshelves, sweeping, and mopping, amongst other duties. He frequently looked over to the desk to make sure Kuchel was still doing okay. This was therapeutic for Levi. His title was almost always so uncertain and messy; this was the one of the very few things in his life that he had control over.
As the day progressed, Levi eventually was able to clean the entirety of his quarters and Kuchel had moved on to reading some of the books he had that sat on his shelf behind his desk. As suspected, she asked questions, like why he owned those books and how long he had them. Many of them dealt with the history of humanity and how present day life came to be. These books in particular were littered with underlines, bookmarks, margin notes.
But not all of them were historical, some of them were fiction. Levi kept these books more hidden towards the bottom of the bookshelf. Not only were they fiction, but they were romance, something that he refused to disclose to even his wife. Levi had a bleeding heart.
Kuchel sat on Levi’s lap as he read some of them to her, his voice echoing in her eardrums soothingly. He held her close and these sort of moments reminded him of when she was just a baby. He always read to her each day. After about three or four chapters, he noticed that his daughter had fallen asleep in his arms after a few soft snores. He chuckled quietly and closed the book and set it down on the desk in front of them. Kuchel usually didn’t take naps but he could only assume that she was wiped out from her inquisitive nature.
Carefully, Levi swooped her up and set her gently down on the couch and covered her with a blanket. He pushed a piece of hair back behind her ear and leaned down and pressed his lips to her forehead.
“Sleep well, princess.”
* * *
Levi looked over some of her drawings. They were impressive for someone of her age. He sifted through them and eventually came across one that struck him like lightning: Kuchel and Levi standing side by side with Scout uniforms on with the title, “Me and Dad as captains.” His eyebrows pulled together as he studied it for a few minutes. He then looked over at her, peacefully sleeping on the couch. Was she really serious about joining the Survey Corps? For her sake, he really hoped she wasn’t. He shook his head and put the scribble in a drawer of his desk.
Kuchel ended up sleeping for a few hours. During that time, Levi worked by doing some paperwork he had been meaning to start. She slowly stirred awake, throwing the blanket off her body and swinging her legs over to stand up. She reached up towards the sky to stretch out her muscles and joints and rubbed her eyes and yawned. She noticed that the sun was just starting to set, the sky darkening in an ombre effect with warm colors.
She looked around the room and couldn’t find Levi immediately in sight.
“Dad?”
No answer.
She wandered into the bathroom and his bedroom. Still nothing. She hesitantly made her way towards the office doors, slowly opening a crack and taking a peek through it. There was commotion. Freshly showered soldiers were making their way down the hall and disappearing. The smell of fresh food lingered in the air, which made her stomach growl with appetite.
She slipped out and started making her way towards the smell, following her nose like a trained dog. It led her to the mess hall and found groups of soldiers sitting down at tables who were conversing amongst each other as they ate. A constant murmur of jumbled voices filled the air like white noise.
“Hey,” Kuchel heard a high voice call behind her. She turned around and saw a young woman with warm eyes and auburn hair tied up into a ponytail looking down at her with a smile. “What’s a kid like you doing here?”
“I’m really hungry. May I get something to eat?”
“Of course you can. Come on, I’ll take you.”
As Kuchel followed the woman up to the serving area, she introduced herself.
“My name’s Sasha. What’s yours?”
“Kuchel.”
“Kuchel… that’s a pretty name. It’s certainly nice to meet you. Do you mind if I ask you where you came from?”
“Well…” Kuchel debated for a moment. Should she disclose that she is Levi’s daughter? Will she be treated differently? Honesty is always the best policy, that’s what her mother always told her. “My dad is Captain Levi and I don’t know where he went.”
Sasha’s face nearly went white.
“O-oh! Why don’t we get you something to eat and we can take you to his office? I’m sure he isn’t far.”
“Dad isn’t there, that’s where I just was.”
“I see. Well, don’t worry! You can sit with me and my friends until he comes around. How does that sound?”
“That sounds good.”
Sasha helped Kuchel get some food, some bread and some soup, and placed a soft hand on the back of her skull as they navigated through the busy hall. She couldn’t articulate why, but Kuchel felt safe with Sasha. Like she was some sort of guardian angel.
Kuchel sits down at the table with a bunch of strangers. Although she should be scared about talking to strangers, she wasn’t. In fact, she was invigorated with their presence. She learned their names and tried her best to remember which was who: Eren, Mikasa, Jean, Armin, Connie. Even though Sasha doesn’t tell everybody that she’s the captain’s daughter, they still accept and welcome Kuchel all the same. Hell, they even try to watch their language around her.
A half hour went by and Kuchel was laughing and joking with the entire crew. Sasha even gave Kuchel a noogie once. She talked about her desire of becoming a scout and Eren, of course, encouraged her to join them and help them wipe out the titans. Everyone else was more quiet. Nonetheless, she was more adamant on her dream than ever after today.
A familiar voice bellows from behind Kuchel, “So, this is where you’ve run off to.”
Kuchel froze in her tracks and slowly turned around to face her father.
“Hey, Dad.”
“I thought I told you earlier today to not run off on me. You completely disobeyed my orders.”
“I was hungry and Sasha helped me,” Kuchel explained with a shaky voice and Sasha immediately cowered down as everyone else stayed quiet. They began putting two and two together. “These people have been nice to me. I couldn’t find you in your office.”
Levi shook his head, knowing that out of all the people that Kuchel could’ve ended up having dinner with, these ones were by far the best.
“Come on, it’s late. We should go home.”
“Am I in trouble?”
“No, Kuchel, you’re not.”
She got up out of her seat and stood next to Levi, looking at the group.
“Thank you all for watching over my daughter. I hope she was on her best behavior.”
“She was,” Sasha peeped up. “And I think she’s going to make a great soldier someday.”
Levi glared at Sasha with anger but she turned around before she could witness it. Kuchel nearly cried with those words. Levi and Kuchel exit the mess hall without another word, drawing many stares towards their direction as they do so.
* * *
The journey home is also quiet. Although Levi insisted that he isn’t mad, Kuchel felt like he was. As such, she doesn’t dare to open her mouth.
Once they were home, you welcomed them both with open arms and kisses. Your daughter was strangely quiet, though. It was unlike her. You asked if she was okay and she responded with a quiet yes and went up to her room.
“What happened?”
Levi goes to the whiskey stand and pours himself a drink, filling the crystal glass of a dark liquid only about a quarter full.
“She’s serious about joining the Survey Corps,” he explained and took a drink. “She drew me a picture today of it. Not only that, but she ended up with Eren’s group in the mess hall. Those brats, planting fictitious ideas and false pretenses in our child’s brain…”
By the end of his sentence, he was speaking more to himself than to you.
“Wait, she got away from you? Levi, how’d that happen?”
“Commander Erwin had pulled me into his office for an urgent meeting and it took longer than I anticipated. She was sleeping on the couch when I left her.”
You rolled your eyes and walked away from the conversation before heading up to Kuchel’s room. Levi called for you but you ignored him. You knocked on the door three times and a tiny voice spoke out from the other side of the door.
“Name and business.”
She really is like her father. You fought back a laugh.
“It’s mom. I want to talk to you. Can I please come in?”
“Yes.”
You opened the door and found a large lump curled up in bed underneath her covers. You walked towards it and sat down on the edge of her bed, reaching a hand out and rub soothing circles around her back.
“Did you have fun today?”
“Mom, I think today was the funnest day I’ve had in my entire life.”
“I wanna hear all about it. Come on, come out from under there.”
Kuchel did what she was told and her hair was in a disarray from the staticiness when she came out. A light laugh escaped your mouth when you tried to tame it with your hands. You two talked for about an hour about her day and as the conversation progressed, a deep part of you became more and more concerned for her future and what it held.
She said excitedly, “Even Sasha said I would be a good soldier!”
“I know you would make an excellent soldier too, my love. But being a scout comes with more risk than not. Those people risk their lives every day to keep us safe. And oftentimes, they die. I want you to understand that.”
“I do.”
“As much as this scares the living daylights out of me and your dad, if this is something you really want to do, then I will support you.”
“Really?”
“Yes. You’re brave, just like your father. He is always the one charging into situations with a passion, strategy, and a level head. It’s part of the reason why I love him. I chose the safer path, I decided to be a reporter. That’s how we met many years ago.”
“Huh.”
“I don’t want you making a decision right now about your future when you’re so young. You have a few years yet before you’re able to start training. You have some time to think about it and what it has in store for you. But it’s getting late and you need to get some sleep. You have school tomorrow.”
“Awww, okay.”
You stood up and tucked Kuchel into bed, flicking off the lamp beside her bed and kissing her goodnight. You left the door open a crack and walked into the bedroom to find Levi hunched over the bed with his head in his hands in the moonlight. You called out his name and placed a hand on his back which caused him to up at you.
You saw something you never have seen in your relationship: Levi was crying.
You immediately sat down next to him, “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“I don’t want this for her,” his voice was low but it still cracked. “If I had known what I know now when I joined the Scouts, I would’ve run in the opposite direction.”
“I understand, honey, but this is what she wants. You can’t stop her from pursuing her dream. She’s too much like you.”
He jerked away from you in disgust, “Do you want our daughter to die?”
“Of course I don’t! This scares the shit out of me too. Who knows, maybe she will change her mind in a few years. But until then, I think we should support her.”
“Tch.”
“I’m not saying we should only support this dream of hers, but show her other professions also. She could be a merchant, a teacher, a reporter… There are so many options. She is 10, Levi. She hasn’t experienced practically anything yet. When I was her age, I wanted to be a florist. But here I am.”
Levi’s spine straightened out and you wiped a tear away from his cheek. He leaned into your touch. You had gotten through to him.
“The next day we can, I’m going to take her to work with me. I mean, that would only be fair, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Come on,” you planted a kiss on his cheek. “This isn’t the end of the world. We have time to figure this out.”
Levi didn’t say anything, but rather took you in his arms and held you tight. He didn’t need to say anything at all, his warm gesture saying everything that he couldn’t find the words for. He pulled away and stood up and looked down at you.
“I’m going in to kiss her goodnight.”
“Good. She’s waiting for you.”
Levi’s hand extended and placed itself on your jaw and caressed it lovingly. He bends down and pressed his lips on yours briefly before he exited the room.
Although he showed it in strange ways, you couldn’t picture Levi as a better dad.

Captain Levi One Shot
Tumblr media
A/N : Takes place like 10 years before the AOT universe, please don’t fact check my shit I know some of it doesn’t line up with cannon lmao. In this Petra is not yet a part of squad Levi.
I’m thinking about doing a series of one shots for this version of Levi x reader but would love some feedback!
26f reader x 29m captain Levi
content warning: alcohol , hangover vomiting (so sorry), blood, minor injuries, masturbation (both f and m)
You had worked so damn hard. You had worked so hard for almost 10 years to get where you are.
Graduating as a part of the 95th corps of cadets, (#3 in your class none the less), you took on the challenge joining the scouts. You took on the challenge of knowing your best friends, your adopted family, would die. You could’ve had a cushy life as an MP and never lay an eye on a titan but no, you just had to be brave.
10 years is a long time to last as a scout. Only a few have lasted longer and you’re wondering when it’ll be your turn. You’re nearly 26 at this point, are you going to have to slow down?
Your superiors decided to throw you a party for hitting the 10 year mark. A get together at a pub in town that closed for an evening to be private for all scouts and military that wanted to come. The ones left of your cadet class came, plus most of the scouts since you were a friendly face and a great mentor.
Hange and Petra were two of your closest friends, they made you a cake! Everyone else was buying you drinks and having a great time. You made your rounds to thank everyone for coming and say hi.
You go up to the table in the corner last, being the most intimidating of the group. Captain Erwin, and a few from his troop were seated including Miche, Gunther, Tomas, Eld, and Dieter. Oh, and the dark storm cloud in the corner, Levi. Captain Levi.
Something about that man, you can’t tell if it pissed you off or if you were attracted to his stormy look. He has only been in the scouts for a few years but, he has far surpassed everyone to earn the title of Captain and earn the special operations squad. He didn’t have a ton of respect as a leader, considering his past which always came about in hushed whispers and stolen glances.
“Ah Miss L/N!” Erwin booms as he watches you approach the table “the celebrity of the evening has graced us with her presence!” Yeah, he’s definitely had a few drinks. You give most of the table a hug before Erwin booms “Excuse me,,, Excuse Me! Yeah I’d like to make a toast to celebrate one amazing scout, y/n l/n”
He turns you around to face everyone in the pub and you catch Levi’s eye for a second, letting a soft smile show. Your drinks and shots everyone had been buying you are catching up and you catch yourself blushing at Levi’s lingering eyes on you. If only you knew why.
As Erwin goes on a great toast speech about how much you’ve grown in 10 years, how great you are, etc. you can’t help but feel immense pride, something you’re not used to as a rather insecure person. Then your attention gets roped back in as Erwin places his hands on your shoulders give you a little shake like a proud dad.
“So to finish my toast, I want to congratulate miss l/n on becoming the newest member of the special operations squad under captain Levi.”
Your jaw drops as the pub errupts in loud cheers turning around to give Erwin a huge hug, since he is the highest rank here commander shadis must have trusted him with this information.
The raven haired stoic man stands up from his seat and comes closer to you and gives you a crisp salute which you mirror back. Probably not as crisp with the way you feel a little wavy. He then sticks his hand out for a handshake as you grab ahold he speaks, “welcome to the team kid.”
You smile at him “Thank you sir! The pleasure is mine!” He’s going to teach you to be less formal with him eventually but appreciates your response for the time being.
You are both surprised at your impulsive decision of deciding to wrap your arms around his neck, giving him an enthusiastic hug. You swear you feel his chest let out a chuckle but hear him grunt, “tch, get off”. You pull away ready to apologize but see a little smirk on his face as he sits back down. All of Erwin’s table saw the encounter and chose to avoid eye contact. As you giddy-ly ran over to Hange and Petra to celebrate.
The rest of the night consisted of singing, dancing, drink-offs with some of the men, and if you weren’t crazy you could’ve sworn Levi was keeping a close eye on you.
Once closing time hits you and some of the scouts you were close with stumbled back to your base. Levi, Erwin, and Miche suspiciously decided to leave just as you were. Following not too closely behind you.
As you get back to your room and ready for bed you stumble a little as you put on your pajamas of a tshirt, no bra, and booty shorts. You’re humming to yourself as you put the uniform from today aside to wash and about to crawl in your bed that looks soooo comfy when
*knock knock knock* gently taps on your door
Assuming it is Petra or Hange drunk you giggle walking up to the door. You swing open the old wood, creaking to your surprise is your new captain.
“Soldier. Sorry for stopping uh unannounced. I wanted to give you this since you looked like you had fun tonight. Integration starts tomorrow at 8 AM.”
You form a salute, right hand over your breast as your dainty nipples show through your white tshirt. He pretends not to notice, suppressing the urge to look at your body he has never seen outside of uniform.
“Thank you captain. I hope you sleep well. Goodnight,” your voice sounds like silk although raspy from singing and yelling all night. Nobody has ever wished him a good nights sleep and he is a little dumbfounded. “Goodnight l/n” he whispers as you gently shut the door on him.
He brought you fruit and some water in a nice basket, surely that will help with your hangover that you’ll have to figure out by 8 am. You think of all the things people whisper about Captain Levi, how he’s a heartless monster, incapable of feelings, barely human. You can’t believe them and decide to put your utmost respect into your captain, wondering how he put together something special like this in such a short notice.
The next morning you are awake at the break of daylight, about 7 am. This gives you an hour to get cleaned up eat and get to the training grounds, but god do you feel like shit. As you’re about to get in the shower you feel your stomach bubbling and make it just in time to the bucket to throw up. Well throwing up sucks, but at least you feel a tiny bit better. You get a rather quick shower and throw your hair into a low bun with some pieces sticking out and put on your uniform. Eating an apple and drinking water that Levi brought you in the early hours of the morning. You decide ultimately that this is your fault for drinking too much, and hope since it is the first day of integration Levi would take it easy on you.
Oh, how you were so wrong.
“L/n, you look like shit.” Your captain spits harshly.
“My apologies captain.” You say not looking him directly in the eyes with your hand over chest in salute.
“10 laps around the field to get started.” Oh god you have to run while hungover, but you can’t tell him no. Maybe this is some type of test to him? He knows how much you drank last night because he was keeping a watchful eye on his new team member. You begin running as Miche and Levi chat, quietly enough you can’t hear them over the pounding in your head.
Just as you hit the sixth lap you feel a bubbling in your tummy again. Oh no, not in front of him. Before you can even try to hide it, you’re doubled over throwing up the rest of the contents in your stomach.
And then, silence. No Miche and Levi chatting, no background noise from the base, just silence. This has to be a test. He wants to see if you’ll keep going or give up on the very first exercise. You use the backside of your jacket sleeve to wipe your face and begin the 6th lap. You’re half done, just push through.
As someone who typically doesn’t struggle too much with running you are shocked at your inability to hold yourself to a high standard this morning. You nearly collapsed as you finished the 10th lap. Bent over with your hands on your knees you wait for Captain Levi to address you.
“Next you’ll be timed on your ODM gear maneuvering through the dummies.” Your face goes pale at the thought of flying through the air right now, but you don’t have a choice. “Yes sir” you respond breathlessly standing up fully again.
You don’t notice the goosebumps that appear on Levi’s skin when you call him Sir or Captain, and he tries to ignore them. Watching as you strap on your ODM gear as you struggle with a particular thigh strap, he sulks over, looking down at your gear. Your big eyes look back up at him, still fumbling your fingers at the same time.
“Here,” he takes over where your hands were, grasping the leather straps tightly and fastening it together so that it squeezes your nice thighs just enough.
“You look like shit,” he says lowly, finally making eye contact with you.
“I’m so sorry sir, is there something wrong with my uniform? How can I fix it?” You ask like a good subordinate.
“Don’t drink the night before training.” He says turning around not looking at you anymore.
You scoff in disbelief at his words, and he waits for your next move.
“My apologies again Captain, but I was not aware of my promotion until last night and not aware of this training until I was already home from the pub. I think it’s rather unfair to-” you’re cut off by the lightning quick movements of the captain who is now gripping your collar of your uniform jacket, almost lifting you off your seat.
“Rule number one - don’t talk back to me” he growls inches from your face.
“Rule number two - always be prepared as a part of squad Levi. We are the special operations squad for a reason, we could leave at a moments notice.”
“Rule number three - you must always look and act your best for training.”
All the while he spoke down to you staring into your eyes. You didn’t dare looking away from the steel gray eyes boring into yours. “Yes sir” you squeak out. He drops your shirt collar, brushing off the wrinkles he just created. And your ass collided back down with the bench you were sitting on. He begins to walk away with a “I’ll be waiting” as he heads towards the wooded area of the training grounds.
You’re trying to wrap your head around what just happened and how your superior talked to you like that when most of this was out of your control completely.
It was then you realized this morning was all one big test. To see how much you needed to be broken down in order for him to build you back up and form you into one of his soldiers.
But you didn’t ask for this promotion, you didn’t receive a warning, you didn’t even get to say bye to your old squad leader.
You try your best to hold your head high, cleaning your blades as you walk in the directly Levi walked a minute ago. Trying to push down all of the demons punishing you for your actions from last night. Mentally you need to get with it if you’re going to prove yourself to Levi this morning that you’re fit to be a part of his squad. You don’t think he’s ever watched you before, at least not in battle, per your knowledge. The last thing you need is him thinking you are a weak link in his group.
You finally approach him at the beginning of the course, trying to maintain cool headedness and confidence. After all you’ve done this course thousands of times over 10 years in the scouts. I mean, they change it sometimes but not by a whole lot.
Not even looking over at you Captain Levi says “I’ll start the stopwatch when you start going. Miche is on the other side to signal a flare once you make it to the end.”
You nod to your self, stretching your back and neck a little before you go. You bound off the ground propelling with as much speed as you can. Your technique is a little different from most, whereas you don’t necessarily have as much speed as you do strength. Your cuts are so deep and clean on the nape of the titan that you are sure fire a kill if you can just get there. You move easily from side to side due to your core strength and kind of look like a mix of a ballerina and a ninja on your good days. Your technique is just weird enough they don’t let you help teach the new recruits.
Flying, adjusting to the new dummies that pop up, it actually feels pretty nice and comforting to help your hangover. You finish the course with ease but your ODM gear fails to hook on one side as you hit the last row of trees. You’re thrown off balance and end up hitting the tree Miche was leaning on with a thud. Luckily, as soon as you made contact Miche shot the flare so you would get a better time, but you lay on the ground groaning. A little blood dripping out of your eyebrow and nose, and cuts on the arms of your uniform.
Levi had already begun swinging to where the ending point was but began speeding up after he ended the timer. He landed on his feet so elegantly and precise, making Miche laugh. Neither of the men helped you up for a minute as you laid there with your hand over your face, red from embarrassment but reminding you that you may throw up again or pass out at any moment.
“3 minutes 9 seconds. Not bad for…your current condition” he says leaning down to look at your face. “You’ll be doing this again when you’re through with your hangover, and I expect it to be spotless. With a much better landing.”
“Yes captain,” you groan. Not being able to hold yourself together much at this point. He grabs a cloth out of his pocket and hands it to you. You do your best to clean the eyebrow and whatever nose wound you have, it may very well be broken.
“Up next is hand to hand combat. Since you are already torn up, I’ll let you chose who you fight against rather than myself, but it has to be someone from the squad.”
The rest of the team was finishing up breakfast walking out to the grounds that hand to hand combat training usually takes place. You were supposed to meet the team and then get your ass handed to you by Levi, but I guess he’s feeling nice watching you try to twist your nose back to its original place. As you finally stand up off the hard ground you stumble a few steps before bending over to throw up one last time. Levi happened to catch you off balance and patted your back while you dry heaved a little.
Levi, the clean freak, comforting you? After you just fucked up your integration training? You brush it off and size up your potential opponents as you want over. You then realize, you’re the first woman to be a part of squad Levi . Is that why the captain is making you do all this? A sexist power move to make you feel inferior to the rest?
The squad is chatting as the three of you walk up to them and fall silent, all eyes on you. Levi brushes past you “everyone this is y/n l/n, she will be joining the special operations squad effective immediately. Right now she is sizing all of you up to see who she can handle in hand to hand combat.” You do your best to remain confident and not shy away as all the well accomplished men look over to you.
“Captain Levi” you pipe up with less courage than you thought you had.
“Yes?” He raises an eyebrow at you.
“I want to go against you, Captain.”
The whole crowd of men goes silent, they think you have a death wish or maybe you already hit your head too hard given the dried blood already on your face.
“Fair enough l/n, I’ll give you a few minutes to get ready.” He takes off his uniform cape and jacket and set it neatly down next to where all the men are standing. You are busy unstrapping your ODM gear, moving to the side so you can set it down gently. You sign when you take all of it off, feeling 15 pounds lighter. You following Levi’s suit, you take off your uniform jacket as well.
This leaves both of you in your white button up shirts. You size Levi up and down, trying to determine when his weak spots are. You see the way his biceps move under the tight shirt as he undoes his cravat. The men of squad Levi are still just men, most of them looking at the way some of the buttons on the chest of your shirt are a little too snug so to your growing tits. You note to yourself to get the next size up shirt when you feel this happen.
You and Levi both walk to the center of the training grounds with most of squad Levi surrounding and a few others that happened to be walking around on this crisp Saturday morning. Levi gets settled in a fighting stance and you follow as he does. “Begin” he says in his low emotionless voice. You step closer to him to begin throwing attacks towards his upper body, most getting blocked but an attempt to elbow his side proved efficient. He throws a series of hits towards you and you manage to dodge a few of them, but are struggling to breathe after a solid punch to the stomach. You think this is a pretty fair match up until he says “tch is that all you have? I’m getting bored.” He speeds up his hit combos, giving you less time in between to recover as you do your best to land a kick on him. His reaction time is way better than yours, grabbing your right ankle and flipping you through the air to have you fall onto your back. You see stars as your head collides with the ground. He has not rendered you out yet, grabbing your arm and twisting it go go behind your back, using the fake little dagger they use for training and press it to your neck. Luckily, you both were facing away from the crowd of people.
“You really thought you could take me? I even gave you the option to fight someone else and you were so cocky you thought you could beat me? Tch, your form and performance today disgusts me. Dismissed.”
Levi stands up and walks back towards the barracks by himself, not talking with anyone and rather pissy it seems. The men left there disperse as you lay on your back trying to fight back tears, your hands covering your face. As soon as the coast is clear Hange and Petra run to your side. “We were watching from the building to see what would happen… I’m so sorry y/n”
So embarrassed, the only reaction you have is to grunt as they help you stand and help you back over to where your room is.
You collapse as they help you get into your room, exhausted and defeated.
“Y/n… do you wanna talk about it?” Petra asks softly playing with your dirt filled hair, head hanging in your hands as your slouched up against your desk.
“Please, I love you guys just I need to be alone,” you say back to them, and without looking up you hear them shuffle out and close the door.
You sit there with your head racing, trying to figure out where you went wrong. Yes, you were drunk last night but you didn’t even do that on purpose! And he could’ve told you earlier in the night so you could’ve stopped drinking and went to bed earlier yes, but he didn’t? This had to be a sick test.
What if Levi didn’t know you were joining his squad and this was some plan from the higher ups? What if Captain Levi didn’t want you on his squad at all and was trying to punish you today?
What if this is some type of hazing to get into the squad? And if you show up the next day or last a week you pass?
Why did your ODM gear fail? It had never done that to you before.
And yet, you still couldn’t bring yourself to dislike the stoic man.
You gather the strength and your belongings and head to the showers. Not lifting your head, you walk blindly the hallways to the showers, having walked the same way for 5 years since your 5 year anniversary when you were given your upgraded room. As part of your promotion, you were given access to the superior showers, dedicated to veterans and officers. As you’re about to knock on the door to see if it is occupied, the door swings open.
Of course Captain Levi had just showered, because he had come inside earlier than you and didn’t have to sulk about his performance. You do your best to muster up a smile and move out of the way for him to leave. You can’t help but look over his sculpted shoulders and biceps, down to his chiseled abs, and the v-line with a happy trail up the middle connecting to the pristine white towel covering the rest.
“L/n,” he says with no emotion, “showers all yours.” He remains looking at your face, noting the eye bags and bloodshot eyes. You must have been crying after your performance today, he thinks to himself. Combined with the dried blood around your eyebrow and nose, he thinks you’ll need a long while in there to recupe.
You nod to him, he walks away and you can’t help but notice his little back dimples as well. You proceed with getting undressed and warming the shower up, ready to sit on the shower floor and cry more. Peeling off the dirty white shirt that will need scrubbed and feeling the cold air against your skin was like stripping off the fuck ups of this morning. You relax under the hot water, watching all the dirt and blood wash down the drain.
Your exhaustion and embarrassment from the morning take over and you begin to sob, crying like you never have before. Not even holding it back, if someone was walking past they surely could hear it. You’re not even sure what you’re technically upset about the most, but right now crying is just what helps. At this point you’re leaning on the tile, out of breath, hiccuping like a child that just finished screaming for their lost mother. You work up the strength to begin washing your long hair foaming shampoo into it and scrubbing. After conditioning and washing your body you are officially exhausted. Wrapping in your two towels and begin the walk back to your room which luckily wasn’t too far. Maybe that’s why Captain Levi also wore his towel leaving the shower.
As you return to your room you look at the fruit Levi brought you last night and sigh. Why would he do that just to kick your ass? You throw on some comfy clothes and crawl back in bed with wet hair, drifting off for a nap.
Waking in the early afternoon, you stretch and yawn as you climb out of bed. You begin getting dressed to go to dinner in some of your casual clothes, luckily you don’t have to wear your uniform on weekends. You opt for a button up baby blue flowy dress with a navy sweater over top and your non-work boots.
Assessing the damage of your face in the mirror, you notice the bruises forming around your eyebrow and your nose. You have some scrapes up and down your arms which is why you chose to wear the sweater over. Your body aches. After all the years you’ve spent as a scout you’ve hardly ever had injuries this bad. Never from training though.
As you’re about to head out the door you notice a letter slipped under your door. You assume it is a silly note from Hange trying to lighten your mood. Your grin fades as you see who has signed at the bottom.
“L/n,
Please come to my office after dinner to discuss your performance today.
Captain Levi”
Your stomach sinks. In all these years you’ve never been called to your superiors office. You slip the letter in your bra under your dress and begin to walk to go to dinner.
Luckily Hange and Petra are already seated and you try to slip in without anyone acknowledging you. Given the ass beating you received this morning with a lot of the scouts watching, they can’t help but grimace at your bruised face. You opt for some soup, bread, and vegetables and sit down avoiding eye contact of your peers. Hange and Petra go silent as they watch you take your first few bites.
“Y/n,” hange says gently, “you look awful.”
You do your best to fake a smile to her, pretending like nothing is wrong. “Y/n, please don’t pretend like you’re fine…we’re here to talk,” Petra adds.
“I am fine. I had a bad day of training and I was hungover. I am perfectly fine and will be better by Monday.” You snap back at the both of them. With that they decide to change the topic, and talk about events that are happening in the town square tomorrow. Something about a show and food vendors and lanterns, it’s supposed to be a pretty big deal.
“Do you want to go y/n?” Hange perks up, crossing her fingers that you’ll say yes.
“Maybe, hopefully tomorrow will be better than today.” You try regaining your positivity and friendliness everyone knows you for.
“Someone put a letter under my door while I was napping.” You suddenly change the topic. Petra and Hange look at you with eyebrows raised.
“Captain Levi wants to see me in his office after dinner,” you whisper so nobody around you can hear. “What if I’m getting kicked off for my performance today?”
“I’m sure that’s the last thing it is.” hange says rolling her eyes and taking a huge bite of her bread. Petra sighs, “y/n, don’t look but him and Erwin have been staring at you and whispering this whole dinner.”
Of course you look up to meet steel gray eyes looking back into your own. Instead of shying away you hold eye contact, letting him be the one to break first and turning to Miche on the other side of Erwin.
“I’m not some sad puppy. I’m not going to let one bad day in 10 years determine my future. If Captain Levi wants me to put up a fight, then so be it. Just because I’m the first girl on his squad doesn’t mean I’m going to sit back and take their shit.” You are gaining your confidence back and are not going to falter and beg Levi to let you stay.
“We got the old y/n back,” Hange taunts to Petra, nudging you in the arm. You smile and ask them, “so what are your plans for tonight?”
After dinner you head back to your room to put a little makeup on. If this meeting goes well maybe you’ll go into town with Hange and Petra for a girls night. You find yourself wanting to look pretty, just in case, although you never cared about that before.
Levi is more than likely in his office now, as you watched him get up to leave shortly after you had the eye contact stand off. His office and sleeping quarters are just down the hall from you. You push down the butterflies growing within your stomach and sweaty palms as you grow closer to the door. You decide to stand there for a few seconds to control how fast your heart is beating and regain your composure.
However, in the time you stand there you hear noises from inside his office.
Typically if Captain Levi is in, he leaves the door opened a crack so people can welcome themselves in, but this time his door is completely shut. You decide to lean your ear up to the door to see if you actually heard something inside his room. Groaning and a slick noise can be heard, and you immediately blush backing away as quietly as possible.
Before you decide to turn around and go back to your room, your curiosity gets the better of you. You return your ear up to the door. Does Captain Levi have a girl over? Is it someone in the scouts? Your mind wanders as you listen to his beautiful groans and…wait… he’s by himself. Oh my god he’s jacking himself off. You hear him sliding his hand over his cock repeatedly.
You know this is wrong, you know you should walk away and pretend this never happened. But yet, you find a different type of butterflies growing in your stomach now. Not the nervous ones, but the horny ones. You’ve never thought about the captain like this and you know you shouldn’t but his voice is so damn sexy.. and the way you saw the water drop off his body after his shower today… you can’t help but imagine what he looks like right now.
“….y/n…” you hear the faintest moan come through the door and all the color drains from your cheeks. Does he know you’re standing there? No there’s no way he could. He’s getting off thinking about you. But isn’t that kind of fucked up considering everything he put you through today? Maybe he’s attracted to you and that’s how you got on squad Levi and it wasn’t your skills at all.
Your brain grows foggy, not being able to focus on all the ‘what if’s’ anymore but only able to focus on the heat growing between your legs. The speed of his strokes and the frequency of his heavy breathing indicates he is getting close. You feel yourself clench around nothing and right when you’re about to leave you hear it again.
“Fuck, y/n…” so faintly yet you couldn’t have imagined it, not twice. You hear a deep groan as you assume is him spilling his seed. Your mind can’t help wonder where he came, and what his cock looks like, and what he tastes like.
With that you are walking away from his door as quietly as possible and hurriedly walking back to your own. As soon as you’ve made it to your room, your cheeks flushed and so horny you can’t think about anything else. You lock the door and throw yourself onto the bed, pulling up your dress around your waist and lowering your panties. You haven’t relieved yourself in so long and you haven’t been touched by someone else in a few weeks. You run your delicate fingers up and down your slit gathering your wetness to spread it around your clit. Rubbing in small circles you let out a meek moan. The only thing taking up space in your horny brain right now is Captain Levi and the past 10 minutes that took place. You start pushing two fingers in and out of your tight hole thinking if it was him fingering you how it would feel. Would he talk down to you like he did when you were training this morning? The thought of that turns you on to a whole new level. You continue to get yourself off when you hear a distant pair of footsteps in the hallway. You can’t be bothered by how foggy your brain is to care if someone hears you. The cute squelching noises your pussy is making would be enough to send any man over the edge. Your climax is building up so fast you don’t notice how the footsteps come to a stop outside of your door. After another minute of keeping up your movements your orgasm washes over you and you can’t help but let out a throaty “Leeviii” as you feel your back arch off the bed.
You put your panties back on, wiping your hands off on a towel in your room and are finally catching your breath when there is a soft knock on the door.
Good god, the footsteps in the hallway, did someone just hear all that? You look in the mirror to check yourself before opening the door. It looks like you just ran a mile with the way your chest is moving and the blush that creeps across your chest up to your cheeks.
You unlock and open the door to find Captain Levi standing there arms crossed. Trying to hide the mortified expression on your face as the reality sinks in of the past 30 minutes you stutter as you go to greet him, “Captain Levi! How can I help you?” Smiling at him with a glow on your face post orgasm.
“I believe you received the note to see me in my office after dinner,” he sternly responds not an emotion in his eyes. Surely if he had heard you he would’ve at least blushed or something?
“Oh y-yes Captain. I’m so sorry, I stopped by but you were-” you cut yourself off realizing what you were about to say. “Um your door was closed so I was going to stop by again in a few minutes,” you hurriedly finish your thoughts, not being able to maintain eye contact with your superior.
“Ah well, I’m free now so if you wouldn’t mind joining me.” If you’re not mistaken he just smirked at you? Is he playing mind games with you? No there’s no way he knew you were outside of his door, but maybe he did hear you moaning.
“Yes sir,” you follow behind him as he begins the walk to his office.
Either Captain Levi is the cockiest motherfucker in the scouts or he is absolutely oblivious. Or is he a master manipulator? All of your thoughts race as you approach his door again. All the meanwhile you think about how you still can’t hate him.
As you enter into his quaint office you take in the scent of tea spices, a well organized desk and bookshelf, and a small table. You notice a garbage can under the desk with tissues in it and can’t help but wonder…
“Can I offer you some tea?” He asks, walking over to a door on the other side of the room with a tea kettle. “Yes please,” you respond and he goes through the door, which must lead to his sleeping quarters and some type of stove to heat water.
“Please have a seat,” he motions to the small table that has some scouts paperwork on it as he enters back into the room. “It’ll take a few minutes for the water to heat.” You nod, sitting as you try to keep your nerves under control. He is walking around the near space tidying belongings and disappears in the next room again. He comes back with a blanket and some firewood. Lighting a fire in the small fireplace. He hands you the blanket, “‘m sorry it gets cold in here when the sun goes down.” You nod to him placing it on your lap as you hear the tea kettle boiling in the next room over. Does he do this when he meets with all his subordinates? Surely not…. Unless he is as nice as you suspected he was?
Captain Levi returns with a tray with two tea cups the boiling water and a variety of tea bags. “Would you like to pick?” He holds the selection out to you. “Whatever you recommend, I don’t know a lot about tea,” you try to lighten the room with a little giggle but his face remains stoic as he picks two of the same tea bags, setting them aside before placing the tea cups on the table, filling them with the hot water and placing the tea bags in the cups. He sits down at the seat next diagonal from you at the square table, so you both are facing the fire. He then grabs the blanket off your lap, spreading it out so it covers both of you. Everything he does is so calculated, and you are at the edge of your seat to find out more about him and what this meeting is about.
Captain Levi sips his tea first.
He sighs and states without looking at you, “I’m sorry about this morning.”
“Please sir, don’t apologize, I understand it was my fault and I will do better.” You do your best to keep a positive smile on your face even though he isn’t looking at you.
“Another thing about being on my team, don’t fucking lie to me. I’d rather you tell me you’re miserable and hate my guts than be fake to me.”
You are taken aback by his words, you have never heard a captain or high rank want to be addressed less formally. “I-I’m sorry?” You stutter out. He ignores your apology. “Our squad eats every meal together. We all have our rooms around the same area which won’t be a problem since you’re not too far from here anyways. We train 6 days a week unless there is a mission or some sort of order from the higher ups. I highly advise no more drinking and no more romantic involvement with any men..er women I guess.” Still not speaking directly at you he is just holding his tea cup to his lips, not by the handle but holding his hand over top the rim.
“Yes, Captain.” You nod, and he finally looks over to you, studying your face. You grow self conscious until he says, “How is your face feeling? That looked like quite the tumble.” You chuckle, touching your eyebrow. “I think it looks worse than it is. I think I was more embarrassed than anything,” you shrug taking a sip of your tea.
“I know you probably think I’m out to get you, given your experience this morning.” He says still looking in your eyes. Before he finishes his thought you cut him off, “oh not at all sir!”
Levi ignores your objection, continuing, “We have to be the best. I treat my team like brothers. We’ll I guess..erm..sister now too.” He looks away with what looks like a slight pinkness on his cheeks.
“You’ve been in the Scouts for longer than most of our team. You have a good head on your shoulders, I just need to make sure you can keep up with us physically. That’s why I wanted to see how your injuries were holding up this evening.”
You nod, as this feels like a mental game of chess. Captain Levi survived in the underground for years, he is calculated, sharp, even scary smart.
“I’d like for you to choose someone to practice your hand to hand combat skills with over the next few integration trainings. You were pretty good but you have to get great.”
“Yes Captain… would you mind helping me with it? I’d like to learn from the best.” You grin and blush up at him.
“Are you trying to kiss my ass L/n? It’s going to take a lot more than flattery to get on my good side.” He looks over at you with a slight smirk on his face and a playful tone, one of the first times you’ve ever seen him like this.
“Then what else would it take? To get on your good side?” You dare start flirting with your captain, feeling awfully bold and somewhat unhinged after all the events that have taken place today.
“You’ll have to figure that out yourself,” he says in a low, sultry tone as his eyes look from yours down to your lips and back. He reaches his hand over and you freeze, but he wipes off some tea from the corner of your lip and retreats his hand back.
“So I have to ask… since you said you stopped by earlier. I heard some footsteps approach my door while I was attending to some … personal matters.. and it seems they stopped and listened for a few minutes. You didn’t happen to see who it was did you?” Levi smirks staring at the fireplace, knowing he has caught you red handed as your face blushes hard.
“Next time, just knock. I could have used some assistance. It sounded like you needed some to,” he has a shit eating cocky grin, being the master manipulator he is looking over to you with your jaw dropped.

klara season 4 levi with baby twins
Ahhh Ackerman babies, pure fluffy headcanons below
When you told him you were pregnant, his expression didn't change much but on the inside, he was panicking in a happy way. Levi never thought that he was meant to be a father but at the same time having a child of his own excited him.
Sweats when you tell him that you're expecting twins, he was prepared for one but two? Oh boy he already knows that he will have a handful on his hands. And given his job and the situation, it won't be easy.
Levi is protective so when you're pregnant, he doesn't let you out of his sight. When he is working? You bet you have to be in his office so that he can attend to your needs.
Goes around the whole of Walls trying to find the fitting furniture and baby clothes. He doesn't like the thought of you being away so for now you two agreed to stay in the headquarters.
Hange is a mess, not only are they the commander now but two little Ackermans running around? That adds to their stress haha. They are happy for their friend tho, even have a list of names just in case you and Levi don't come up with anything.
When the babies are born, Levi will cry, he kept all the emotion inside for those nine months but when he sees his children and holds them for the first time, he melts.
Of course will make sure to take good care of you after you give birth. He found you four days after your labor trying to clean a bookshelf and you heard it from him. "Lay back down, you pushed two humans out of you not even a week ago, I'll do it."
He is quicker than you during the night, if they cry he is quicker than the speed of light to be at their cribs. He doesn't sleep a lot anyway, so taking care of his babies is not at all a problem.
Says he will discipline them but spoils the fuck out of both of them. Anything his child points at is brought immediately, he doesn't care about the price.
He makes sure that they are always comfortable, he didn't have the comfort he needed as a child but he will make sure his two sun shines do.
When they start to mumble and talk a little, he is over the moon and you best believe that their first words will be dada.
They bring a smile to his face more than anyone else, he often has them seated in his lap when he does paperwork. Their smell alone just makes him more calm. Always has toys in his office for them.
Levi doesn't like messes but given the two little Ackermans, he has no choice. Your room is almost always a mess especially when they start to walk.
Also, they are fast. You're always out of breath trying to catch them both and Levi finds it amusing.
They betrayed you too, came out looking exactly like him. Although there is still a hint of you in them, it's clear which genetics lead.
If he is away on a mission, he keeps two little plushies with him. He knows that there are times where it's hard for him with Marley and all the mess but Levi makes sure that he is a present father.
Forced his squad to baby-proof most of the headquarters because he isn't risking his children getting hurt. They still find a way tho, it's that Ackerman gene what else did you except?
Is worried when they get hurt or sick although they rarely get sick, he doesn't sleep until they are healthy again.
Will scold them but won't raise his voice, they are still so little and have so much to learn but he does scold them if they act bratty.
He knows them like the back of his hands sometimes even better than you do. When they are hungry, sleepy, or cold, he notices all of it.
In his free time, he is always playing with them, taking them to the stables to show them the horses, walking with them outside and showing them the outdoors.
Glares at strangers. Don't try to touch his kids, even when someone asks, he doesn't let them anywhere near the twins.
Overall, a good father, a way better dad than he thought he was going to be. He loves his twins over everything and would do anything for them.

So just spitballing some thoughts here.
Imma probably just call all the Dad versions of the obey me squad a Timeskip AU and they’re all just getting on with their lives. Like the bros don’t live together anymore and that actually caused me physic damage to actually think that. And as much as I love them as a family unit it’s more fitting that they grew some independences during a timeskip. They’re still close naturally and visit one another but just not under the same roof. As for what’s everyone up too…
Lucifer would be straight up retired lol. He’s living that old retirement lifestyle just relaxing finally. But for my nefarious purposes he’s married to Diavolo and is sometimes his advisor. Does some diplomatic work etc etc
Mammon runs a huge ass casino entertainment resort thing. I haven’t posted his headshot yet but he’s got a scar on his face that I’m just headcanoning he got from saving mc form something life threatening~
Levi became a game developer/director but is slowly getting into movie directing. He wants to make a TSL movie so bad. But as of right now he’s known for producing a popular dating sim in Devildom lol
Satan either became the headmaster or a teacher a RAD. I honestly don’t really know what he’d be doing. But I just thought it be neat for him to be like that cool teacher that cares about teaching and cares about his student’s wellbeing etc. other than that it’s just a cute thought that he’d grade papers at a cat cafe.
Asmodeus does a lot of traveling. I would say he’s got that he’s famous for being famous kind of vibe but he does run his own fashion/makeup brand.
Beel works at the docks for whatever reasons. Idk why but I just kept picturing him working at the docks when I was trying to figure out his clothes. Which I joked to a friend that because it’s an orange jumpsuit he went to jail at one point >w>” idk if imma keep that in. ANYWAY so why he works at the docks I just pictured him carrying cargo into ships and such. And again for my nefarious purposes he’s either married to Barbatos or my Mc~
Belphie idk why but I just picture him being a drifter. He just goes where ever. Kinda appear out of the blue and leave again.
So that’s my ideas for the main bros as for the side characters I’m 100% clueless, besides Diavolo finally becoming king and/or being married to Lucifer and Barbatos is still his loyal butler also sometimes married to Beel >w>”
Ideas are liable to change but here’s all my main thoughts for the Timeskip AU :P

Hey do u have any headcanons for Levi as a father to a daughter reader?
Headcannon no. 8

Fatherly Love

A/N: I do now annon :)

It hadn’t taken anyone in the Corps long to see the resemblance between their newest scout and the young girl who accompanied him.
Not only from the girl’s strikingly similar features to the one she followed like a shadow, but from her mannerisms as well.
Quiet, reserved, dangerous…But there were things about you that set you apart from the raven.
You were bolder than he was, in social settings. While he kept a stone cold facade, you were often found with a sarcastic smirk and using wildly animated gestures as you spoke.
Though it was obvious there was a relation between you and the thug Levi, no one knew what it might have been.
Relatives, of sorts. That much was obvious.
But it wasn’t until Hange had blatantly asked one day that Levi reluctantly gave in to their insatiable curiosity.
“She my kid, alright? Lay off, shitty-glasses.”
Of course they didn’t, in fact, lay off.
With this knowledge now floating around HQ, you were now regarded as someone of great interest.
The two of you kept your past to yourselves. Levi and your mother had had you young and raised you in the Underground. All anyone knew for certain, was you’d been brought along with your father and his friends to the surface when he was forced into the Survey Corps.
For awhile, you merely stayed in HQ near your father, learning all you could about the world outside.
Often times Levi would pause in his never ending duties as Captain, once promoted, to come check in on you.
He only trusted a select few to watch over you in his absence.
Once you were old enough, and Levi finally managed to ease up on his strict parenting a little, you’d been made a scout.
Of course your father would keep you near him at all times. You were the only thing he could ever possibly imagine caring about.
He’d taken you under his wing to work in his squad as his second in command.
Any complain about favoritism was quickly snuffed out by a glare from Levi and a snarky threat from you.
Levi was so proud of your ability to snap back harsh comments to anyone who questioned you.
You were his daughter, after all.
He’d watch on with a smirk barely hidden behind his teacup as you, his fourteen year old daughter, cussed a man three times your size out for suggesting you sit out a more challenging round of training.
Much to Erwin’s exasperation, Levi almost encouraged your brash behavior.
Let’s be honest here; he absolutely encouraged it.
“Levi…While I understand she is your daughter, perhaps you should instill a bit of respect in her. Life above ground isn’t the same as the life you two led below the surface.”
But Levi would scarcely get a word in edgewise before you’d suddenly appear at his side; grey eyes to match his glaring up at the tall man.
“Fuck off, eyebrows. Don’t talk to my dad like that.”
Please the way Levi would spare a grin on occasions like this and proudly ruffle your hair.
By the time you were a young adult, your stunning grey eyes paired with ebony hair framing your face really made you stand out to your fellow young adult comrades.
Expect to be hit on. A lot.
“For a thug, you sure are easy on the eyes.”
Cue overly protective father behavior to start showing from Levi.
“Fuck off zit face. Don’t speak to my daughter again if you value your shitty teeth.”
Let’s be honest; Levi would scare off any potential suitor simply because he didn’t approve of their appearances.
Overall, you’d be regarded as highly respected and highly feared not only for the identity of your father, but for the many attributes you’d inherited from him.
You could break a man’s arm in the blink of and eye then turn around with an innocent smile adorning your porcelain face.
You were terrifyingly beautiful and skillful, and everyone knew it.
And my god was Levi the proudest man in the Corps for it.

here's my aot what if -
what if nobody died and everyone lived happily ever after😁😁
Pls I love this so much. That's me when my fav character dies.
What if nobody died?
This is a joke and completely delusional of me, but here are my AOT characters sweet and peaceful endings if death and depression weren't AOTs moto
Carla would be still alive, we would have more screen time from this absolute milf (Sorry, I am feral for her), being the best mom and Eren always by her side, taking care of her, when he is not traveling with Armin.
Mikasa is either with Carla or occasionally traveling with Armin and Eren. She's out of the military for certain and just chilling, probably became a painter or writer.
Armin, my sweet beloved Armin, just travels around the world (if the titans were taken care of) and becomes this super notorious writer and explorer. I genuinely think he would be a scientist and inventor, like his parents.
Jean probably follows the military career, even become commander when he was older. This man fights for people, and if Marco is by his side...we would see big changes in Paradis military system!
Sasha and Connie would probably remain two chaotic creatures that live in a farm. Sasha would also remain in the military, in my opinion. She likes teaching young people and helping her community. Connie just decided to live a quiet life with his family, probably in a farm close to Sasha's family estate.
Ymir and Historia are married and queens. That's it. They are icons and care for many orphans (even if Ymir is awkward with them).
Erwin, Levi and Hange are retired and on permanent vacation. Permanent vacation! Also, Levi's squad is alive and well. Levi is one of those old dudes who accidentally got adopted by children despite his very mean face.
Reiner has a family. He probably has a bunch of kids that he loves so much. He is the best father in the world because his own dad was trash. HE IS NO CONTACT WITH HIS MOM!!!
Bertholdt is honestly just living his best life, just sleeping in weird positions and resting. No I don't think he got with Annie. I can imagine him becoming a teacher.
Annie just disappeared and took Pieck with her. She is living in a cabin far away with zero human contact and a bunch of chickens and goats. That girl deserves peace. Pieck is there because it's quiet and she can nap all day.
Porco and Marcel are happy siblings, so are Colt and Falco. Falco and Gabi actually married, I don't make the rules.
Zeke is just...Zeke. I think he becomes a doctor and runs an abortion clinic. Not elaborating on that.
My man Onyankopon is a rich dude on a paradise island, just chilling and being the handsome man that he is. Probably is the one who brought Hange, Levi and Erwin to the island for their eternal vacation.

If there's anything Levi Ackerman's learnt, is that things never go as expected.
He was born in a place where every day he was put up to challenge. He had lost his mom and friends.
He found it ironic— some kind of tragedy one almost wants to laugh at. Each time he thought he could finally sit back, get comfortable, relax, life showed him how wrong he was for it.
"Farlan and Isabel, right?", Hanji's voice makes him startle. Their words turn to drawings in the air— figments of ice that spiral through the night. "Were they your siblings?"
Levi shrugs it off. It's been a year since that day, but the memories still make his chest hurt. Like a wound that has yet to get closed.
"None of your business.", he says. Hanji looks at him through the corner of their eye, then lets out a soft giggle. He never understood them; — how they could still be light-hearted in a world so heavy. He was harsh and closed-off. They could have gotten offended at him for his distance— shouted at him for being this cold. But they hadn't. They hadn't and, instead, they could only graze him bright smiles in turn.
"You know...", they speak. They're in the headquarters' rooftop, watching the snow. It's New Years Eve; the first one where they can see the yard turn this pristine shade of white. "My father used to tell me that, upon celebrations, our big, big family table didn't start where he sat, nor ended where I was sitting."
Levi raises a brow. He can see their hair, poking out of their hat, dusted off with snowflakes. The slightest tinge of pink that burns on the bridge of their nose.
Hanji continues.
"He said that the table kept going, and going, and going, until it wrapped around the world and appeared right behind him.", they say. "That everyone we knew was sitting there besides us. Grandpa, my mom... even Farlan and Isabel could be there, too!"
Levi scoffs. He can frame the picture in his mind, actually; vivid, and wild, and colorful. He didn't know Hanji's family, but he imagines them, as well; all with their same brown eyes and glasses. The table's filled with food; warm rice, roast-beef, potatoe soup. He can taste the sweet and spice on his tongue, smell the veil of smoke that comes from the kitchen. His mom sits next to him, graceful as she's always been. She wears a white shirt, a silver necklace ducked underneath.
He turns to her and smiles; a small tug at his lips that resembles hers. He's dying to tell her something, to ask her questions, to introduce her to Hanji.
"It's nice, I guess...", they say, once more. They're leaning on the railings, staring over at the skies. "Dad used to say that, in order to meet everyone again, we had to pretend that we were little kids. That it was important for us to believe in magic..."
Levi stays silent; his eyes closed when the wirlwind blows. He had always expected for miracles, back when Kuchel would return home late. He had always hoped for some force to make her warm again. To fill the tiny holes that'd crack his heart.
Now, little there's left of that child he once was. But he can play pretend, as Hanji's father would say. He can see, instead of just look.
Farlan and Isabel bicker over who'll take the spot next to him. There's a bouquet of flowers, front and center, surrounded by dry leafs and candles. He can hear Erwin's voice, as he pours up some wine for him. He can watch over at his squad, who he's proud of, all passing down the plates and drinks.
It's a sight he grows fond of. An image that's warm and makes him bubble up with joy. He feels less alone, now that he's allowed himself to believe. That he's let kid-Levi have this one wish turn true.
"Hey", Hanji elbows him, almost as if to wake him from his daydream.
He blinks at them, still dizzy, and his breaths swirl into white clouds. Now, they'll go downstairs to have dinner with everyone else, and there won't be roast beef or potatoe soup. The table won't have fresh flowers. There probably won't even be wine. Still, he thinks, Erwin will be there. And Mike. And Nanaba. And his squad, too.
They'll light candles, and there will be a trail of smoke coming from the kitchen. And so, when the clock hits twelve and everyone cheers, he swears, he'll believe in magic. He'll be a child all over. He'll see, and not just look.
He'll sit next to his mother, and ask her the questions he'd been dying to. He'll let Farlan and Isabel take turns on the chair besides him. He'll have champagne with Hanji's dad.
It's okay with him, really— that he'll only get to have this, a small portion of them, for the rest of his life. He's finally come to terms with one's own, human fatality. Erwin's the big brother he's never had, Hanji has that same grace of his mother's.
"Beep-boop", they wave a hand in front of him. "Earth calling Levi?"
He rolls his eyes at them.
"What is it now?"
They pout, then drag him by the sleeves of his parka.
"Have you even been listening? We have to get going!"
Levi stares at them, — at how their glasses have almost frosted. Petra tells Oluo that his cravat's ridiculous. Moblit's rushing over with the food. There's the clink of porcelain and the smell of bread. It all floats up to the roof, where they both have been, then fades off with the snow.
He's aware, this year there won't be dessert, or champagne, or his mother, either. But he has this, instead— these people he considers family. A big, big group of misfits that somehow fit together.
He feels less alone, now that he's allowed himself to believe, that love can take shape in such cruel world. This is what kid-Levi would have wanted, he tells himself. The warmth. The company.
"Let's go, then.", he says, and Hanji laughs at him, dragging him further down the stairs.
Truth is, spending New Years like this— being a Scout— comes as a complete surprise to him. That this isn't at all how he expected things to be.
Then again, he figures, however, he's alright with it. This, — Hanji, the family he's found, being a Scout, even—, is the one choice he won't ever regret.
