MAJOR SPOILERS FOR NEXT WEEK'S EPISODES (theory teehee)
Sexy-Ed, or episode 8, has it's synopsis out already, along with episode 7's synopsis. I don't have anything to say about episode 7, so hey, here's a LOT of ideas for me episode 8.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, a power couple breakup. While I would love to assume that "Hey, maybe it's gonna be a random couple that really doesn't have focus since it's between two side characters!"
Tumblr media
Yeah, no, it's definitely JFK and Joan. Unless Washing Carver and Sacagawea are a couple, I really, REALLY doubt this is about anyone other than JFK and Joan.
I'm guessing that they maybe break up in episode 7 (maybe due to JFK's "heat induced intellectual breakthrough" upsetting Joan or making JFK realize he and Joan shouldn't be together???) and episode 8 picks up on that, ending with the two getting back together, or if the writers are ballsy, they don't get back together. Safe to say though, the JoanFK break up is probably official, hopefully only for those two episodes, but with no more synopsis' available atm, there's no way to tell.
On the "brighter side", if Kahlopatra is canon (I made another post about why I feel like it has potential to be a thing), this episode may be where the seeds of a relationship are formed, or when they start being together as a whole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With these shots, including the dialogue from the trailer of Scudworth saying "the clones are just horny science experiments," I feel like the chances are much higher than just an intro tease. Maybe Cleo is trying to teach Frida more about sex ("... mandatory sex education..." kinda clues me into this), but Frida isn't really interested? Or she's trying to seduce her, as someone on Reddit mentioned that Cleo, in season 1, had a habit of flipflopping between Abe and JFK when one was more popular than the other. Frida IS considered the most popular girl in school, so it wouldn't be above Cleo in this scenario.
I'm VERY excited and hopeful for next week's episode. Input welcomed, I might be stupid and sleep deprived here.

More Movie Thoughts Again...
Tumblr media
It's been a few months since The Mighty Movie released to theaters. Currently, we know a third movie is on its way, and it's due to release in 2026. What we don't know, however, is... well, anything else about it. We still don't even know yet which pup it'll focus on, or if it even will at all. We know the year, just nothing else.
Tumblr media
If the story does focus on a single pup again, much like The Movie and The Mighty Movie before it, then the question is... which one will they go with? If you ask the fans, the answer seems to be quite obvious. Just take a look at the above poll from the PAW Patrol Wiki.
Tumblr media
And even this poll on Reddit, too. Rocky's the most popular on the PAW Patrol subreddit, yet Marshall still won by over twice the votes. It seems fans really, really want to see the spotted pup in the spotlight this time around... which may even lead to him finally getting some sort of backstory. Of course, what we want isn't always what we get, but it's possible the folks at Spin Master, Brunker, or whoever with influence might be aware of this.
As many of you know, despite my mixed feelings about the theatrical films, I am rooting for Marshall to helm the third movie. After season 7 and 9 of the TV series were so bad to him (season 8 wasn't exactly great to him at times, either), I really want to see something propel him back into the spotlight. Becoming the star of the next theatrical film will undoubtedly accomplish this, as even Skye has seen an increase of attention since The Mighty Movie hit theaters. Assuming the third movie is about him and it turns out good, I've no doubt the same will happen to Marshall, too. And, if we're lucky, the TV series will finally go back to using him more again, instead of calling someone with her helicopter to save a kid from a tree as her harness cable magically passes through a bunch of branches to do this, instead of calling the firefighter pup with his ladder like they should've.
Tumblr media
However, I have some reservations here. I've talked in the past about how I feel the theatrical films haven't handled Marshall all that well, my "caused vs. because" argument with the way they portrayed his clumsiness, and the fact that he's rarely involved in comedic moments because of Brunker's obvious preference for Rubble. Even if Marshall's the focus on the plot, I don't know if these things will be any different.
This is just a theory, so it may be far from the truth, but... I have a bad feeling that Brunker may not like or care about Marshall. I hope I'm wrong, but due to the way he's portrayed in these theatrical films, the fact both movies continuously refuse to give him his elevator wipeout running gag, among other reasons, I just can't shake this belief. And the thing is, I've noticed over the years that when a writer doesn't like or care about a character, they often try to change them... drastically, at times. It's not uncommon at all, really. And if any of this is true, then I fear what this means when/if Brunker tries to write an entire film around the pup. It's possible he may act completely different, or portray his clumsiness as the result of some devastating event in his past. Marshall's a silly pup who always means well but sometimes trips over his own paws, but Brunker might try to change the meaning behind that. And should the film become popular and these newfound characteristics spill over into the TV series, well... I honestly dread the thought.
Tumblr media
Then again, this might happen anyway, no matter who the focus is. You see, a few months ago, I was chatting with someone on the PAW Patrol Wiki who said their favorite pup is Skye. When The Mighty Movie got brought up, they admitted to me how they felt Skye was really out of character during it... not to mention, they were also quite disappointed to see the film ditch her unique Mighty tornado & wings, in favor of a cape and simply turning her into a Superman clone. The thing is, if Marshall, Rocky, Zuma, or whoever turns out to be the focus next, will the same happen to them, regardless of how Brunker feels about these characters? Did he dislike Skye, or did he just write her in a way he believed was good? Is that Skye fan in the minority? Am *I* in the minority with any of this?
...I don't know. Do you? Does anyone know?
As usual, all I can do is wait and hope for the best. Should Marshall be the focus, I really, really, really, hope that Brunker takes his time with understanding the character, learns the way he acts and behaves, and comes up with something that's both good and not out of character. I also hope that, should we get a backstory for Marshall, it's not another "and then they almost died" plot, just like Skye, Chase, and even Surly's backstory from Brunker's The Nut Job 2. I want Marshall's history to stand out and truly be something good, not just... more of the same we've already seen. And if Brunker does insist on changing the character, I hope it's nothing extreme. In all fairness, change isn't always a bad thing, when its done right.
As I often say... only time will tell.

'Eagle-eyed Doctor Who fans think the anniversary specials could be setting up a Bad Wolf-style mystery, and they could be on to something...
Following the release of 'The Giggle' on December 9, which saw the Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) face off against Neil Patrick Harris's Toymaker, one viewer took to Reddit to claim that a star motif glimpsed in both the new episode and the trailer for upcoming Christmas outing 'The Church on Ruby Road' might be hinting at the introduction of a new character or ongoing mystery along the lines of the Saxon Master or Bad Wolf in season one.
"The scene where Donna fights the puppets also has the same clock face as a window (numbers and pattern around the outside are identical, just without the star)," another points out. "Could be reuse of design/assets, but the implication that Donna was inside a clock tower is very interesting."
"Three cubes, and a clock... Time for Q-Bert?" said a third.
In the comments, theories as to whether it could be a nod to characters like The One Who Waits, the Boneless or the Rani started swirling, while someone else gushed: "Chimes of Midnight adaptation? I'm f***ing down," referring to a popular Doctor Who audio drama starring Paul McGann. Though not everyone was all in on the speculation...
"It can certainly be a hidden clue. But it could just as well be a reuse of design assets to save money," argued a doubter, as another added: "I'm getting flashbacks to the brooch that both River and that woman at Amy and Rory's wedding both wore. Theories flew. Turns out, they just reused a costume element."
All that considered, it'd hardly be the first time Russell T Davies has teased future themes. When he initially rebooted the long-running sci-fi series in 2005, the showrunner included references in almost every episode of the first season to Bad Wolf, the entity that would eventually possess Billie Piper's Rose Tyler.
Elsewhere, he mentioned the likes of Torchwood and using 'Vote Saxon' posters in backgrounds before fans even knew what they meant. So it's certainly not out of the realms of possibility that he would do something like that again...'

I have to agree. I will argue that cwac is well written but it's essentially just different characters with a bnha coat of paint, it was written so many years ago where it could've technically been a direction taken but canon has deviated so far from it no longer resembles anything close to it. The problem begins when some take it as a canon interpretation when it was not leading to infighting and misreading of canon events and character, although this is no fault of the author who I believe is still very talented.
When I first got into the fandom circa 2018, right before Hawks debuted, I was super obsessed with Deku and so CWAC was up my alley. But the moment I started paying attention to the villains, somehow it clearly dawned on me how not only OOC the story was but just how much the author clearly dislikes characters like Shigaraki or Dabi and how much it shows, fairly juvenile-y.
I won't argue that the author isn't talented, but over the years a friend who was also a very Big Writer at the time of CWAC's popularity 2018-ish has told me how discussions about the League went very badly.
The issue still is the fandom. I absolutely blame DFO on CWAC and the other work of the author that the name escapes me. Even now, when I look at DFO dynamics or the weird afo inko obsession they absolutely clearly have elements from the fic, so essentially what CWAC did was establish such a clear fanon that even non-fic readers have taken it as part of the theory.
I mean, again this is more the issue of the fandom in general just clinging on to very old perceptions of characters and plots. I'm going to rant about that below.
I'll use Tomura as an example because what made me dislike CWAC was the handling of him when I started to realize just how rich Horikoshi made Tomura 's character. Some shig-haters never get passed Kamino in what they think of him, and there are the LOV stans who haven't caught up with the idea that actually the MLA arc was *bad* for the League and are still in the viewpoint that the villains are revolutionaries. So there's these spaces where Shigaraki is just seen as a murderous incel versus Shigaraki is Che Guevara incarnate.
And these echo chambers are so removed from each other that very often little nuance penetrates, so you have incredibly established fanon truths that are rarely deviated from and people just stop examining the source material. Then conflict arises when you leave the echo chamber and talk to someone else.
Also worth mentioning is that the fandom echo chambers manage to function as they do by assigning moral values to any "thought crimes" that don't line up with accepted fanon-"canon". Don't think the League are super-radicals who will actually liberate society and create a Marxist utopia? Well you're a capitalist pig who supports cops, bye. You can see it with the very hardcore hero stans who think liking a villain means condoning murder too, "why do you like terrorists?" Or come into my inbox to tell me Jin's murder was justified. Fandom is very good at policing itself into cliques, to the detriment of everyone, I think.
It also, I think, created the situation where people in this fandom genuinely hate the work, keep reading it in bad faith due to those ingrained fanon expectations and preconceptions of what the work should be, and then get more and more resentful as time goes on and their views are not even acknowledged.
Seriously, just look back at the reaction of hero stan Twitter and reddit bros at Himiko's whole fight with Ochako. There was so much hatred of how Himiko was being redeemed.
There are still canon DFO fans. I feel sorry for those who had to look at this chapter and realize that what they've sunk so much time into was not real. Disappointment hurts, man.
Anyway, thanks for listening to me rant. I find it fascinating in an academic sense how so much of fandom was shaped by a fic and I wonder if at some point someone will examine it critically.

hxh theory: is feitan a p3d0phile?
tw's: mentions of l0l1c0n, paraphilia, p3d0philia, sadism and torture because its fucking feitan, cp (debatable if you consider l0l1c0n cp), mentions of problematic hxh ships such as feitan x kalluto and hisoka x gon
just a note: before you come at me with your pitchforks leaving hate in my asks and dms, i am not a fan of l0l1c0n nor am i trying to defend it, this post is a simple theory i have gathered by evidence in the manga, no one is saying that you should believe this theory, it's more of a "do with this information what you will" kind of thing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
so, you may be reading this title and you're thinking "what the actual fuck?" and you probably believe that i pulled this straight out of the deepest parts of my ass, but what if i told you i had some plausible evidence for this theory?
so, for starters, this thought actually came to me when i was reading a post by a user on here named @/cautionworks (i'm not going to tag them here because i don't know them nor do i want to seem like a bother) who made a post relating to their favorite ships (warning as the post does contain problematic ships such as hisogon and such, not saying in particular im against the ship, im just giving out a warning to anyone who is triggered by minor x adult ships) and there was a ship listed as feitan x kalluto.
in the passage it mentions that they found out that feitan may be into l0l1, which at first thought was a bit strange but once you think about it more, the concept isn't the most absurd for someone like him.
i haven't seen anyone actually talk about feitan possibly being into l0l1c0n, much less being a p3do, probably because of the anti's in the fandom.
so, lets get on with the actual evidence!
in the yorknew city arc, after he was done torturing the owl, he is seen reading a book by an author named trevor brown, and as stated on his hunterpedia page, trevor is a controversial artist who's work involves paraphilia; atypical sexual urges.
according to trevor's wikipedia page, "His work explores paraphilias, such as lolicon, ero guro, BDSM, and other fetish themes. Innocence, violence, misogyny, and Japanese popular culture all collide in Brown's art."
Tumblr media
there is also a reddit post relating to this topic as well, and according to said post the topic was popular on tik tok at a certain period in time (not very important but i thought it was kind of interesting since im a tik tok user and content creator kind of)
so, does this make feitan a p3d0phile? i can see why people would think so, and i can also see why people wouldn't.
why i would is simple; trevor brown's art speaks for itself, the usage of fictional little girls in... lets just say, VERY interesting situations would make one assume off rip that feitan may be a p3d0phile, or at least a l0l1con, not to mention, togashi isn't afraid of making a character like this especially since we have hisoka (not saying hisoka is a p3d0, but many do, and im just trying to prove a point and give an example as to why the concept of feitan being a p3d0 isn't something completely out of the ordinary, hxh does get pretty dark after all).
why i wouldn't: i've seen some arguments that feitan may not hold the same views as trevor despite him doing some questionable things, similar to how people may like a certain character or even person in real life but not agree with everything they say or do, not to mention he doesn't seem to act weird or overly charming with kids like hisoka, he certainly isn't afraid to hurt or torture one (gon) but theres no actual implications outside of him reading this book by a controversial artist that he is sexually attracted to them.
but in my personal opinion, unless specified by togashi himself, or given any more details about how he feels about such things i wouldn't go as far as to call feitan a p3d0 just because he's seen reading a book by someone known to create l0l1 art, hell, he might be reading a book that doesn't include anything relating to p3d0philia, since the cover art isn't explicitly shown.

Sherlock Holmes and Hannibal: Characters and Roles
Before I begin, I want to state that this is all for fun. I have done as much research as possible, but it has been surprisingly difficult to find links between Sherlock Holmes and Hannibal which are not about BBCSherlock Holmes. This analysis is about the connections between ACD Sherlock Holmes and NBC Hannibal, mainly because I finished watching it a few weeks ago and could not stop thinking about the similarities. Please take all this as, again, ‘for fun’. I wish I was able to write a comprehensive analysis that could be published in a media journal, but I probably won’t be doing that today. Additionally, any ideas that I write I am not claiming as my own as I am unsure if someone else has written them before, so I apologise if I haven’t credited people who need to be credited. If this is the case, please tell me and I will credit them. This theory largely relies on Holmes/Watson being canon and partially on Sherlock, Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter being autistic or at least autistic-coded. If you do not agree with these concepts, you definitely will not agree with this one.
Warnings out the way, let’s begin.
It’s very important to establish some of the main frameworks of the theory before I start building on them. From what you’ve possibly understood from the title, this is about Characters and Roles, which are similar to mirrors and foils.
Firstly though, another term I will be using is fictional person, or FP for short, just to avoid the confusion with Character.
Characters are essentially the personality of a fictional person and the decisions they are likely to make. For example, the character of Sherlock Holmes is a person of great intelligence, but only in specific areas, has difficulty expressing emotions, perhaps an addiction of some kind, and is isolated and queer-coded and autistic-coded. Other fictional people may follow this character, but it isn't always exact. You could describe Dr House as a Sherlock character (I understand he is essentially an adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, but because he is technically ‘based’ on him, this still works).
A role is the storyline of a fictional person, meaning that the FP will follow similar events and will play similar parts. However, the character does not always fit the role, which I will explain in detail when I’ve gotten the framework out of the way. Sherlock Holmes’ role is to be the detective or problem solver, companion/partner to Watson (either the Watson character or the Watson role), and perhaps fake their death or resurrect in a metaphorical sense.
Bear with me if this is getting confusing.
Hopefully, I’ve managed to explain Characters and Roles so that it’s understandable, now onto the building.
During my research to find already established connections between Holmes and Lecter, I found a Reddit page from seven years ago about people viewing Will/Hannibal as Sherlock/Moriarty. Understandable, because it is from a period where both shows were very popular. Again, this is not about BBCSherlock, but it is unavoidable for it not to be mentioned. I’ll insert a link to an article that includes more about that.
Personally, I do not agree with the Reddit users of 2016 (that was a fun sentence to write) but instead I view Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter both as Holmes Characters. Surprisingly enough I did not see a lot of comparisons between Will Graham and Holmes but I did find a lot of fanfic about them which really wasn’t what I was looking for (no judgement).
Graham, to me, stood out as being a very strong Holmes Character. From his clear autistic coding (I do not care about what Hugh Dancy said or refuted, Will Graham is an autistic man) to his ability to map out crime scenes in his head, he seems to be very clearly inspired by him. Even Graham’s tendency to take medication whilst in crime scenes to help him calm down is reminiscent of Holmes’ drug addiction. You can easily comb through Hannibal and the Holmes canon to find all the similarities. Personally, I believe that the lack of connection between the FPs is due to the misunderstanding around Holmes’ character. Both characters are caring and want to help people, which is a feature Holmes is not always recognised for. I do want to make this clear again, however: Characters do not always fit Roles, which is why Will Graham is not an adaptation of Sherlock Holmes.
Moving on to Hannibal Lecter now, deemed the clear candidate to be a Holmes Character. To be perfectly honest, I found it more difficult to link Hannibal to Holmes, since the connections I did find were more about the adaptations of Holmes, rather than the actual Character. I will add (because why not embarrass myself) that all I got at first was the fact that their first and second names both contain the same amount of letters which, to be honest, is a very extreme coincidence.  A more definitive argument is the usage of Mind Palaces. In the ACD canon, although not coined as a Mind Palace, Holmes explains how he uses one; this is a method of loci, used by many other people, including Hannibal. Hannibal in fact uses the term ‘Mind Palace’, rather than ‘memory palace’, which is more commonly used. This seems like a direct connection between both FPs. Adding to this, Hannibal is known to take personal pride in his appearance, similar to Holmes and is also shown to have an addiction of some kind (in Hannibal’s case, this is cannibalism, slightly different to doing drugs I suppose). Another point is Hannibal’s backstory turning him into ‘who he is’, a commonly discussed topic for Sherlockians on how Sherlock became Sherlock. Like Will Graham, you can rewatch the series and find all the similarities, but the argument is there: Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham are Holmes Characters.
If it wasn’t confusing enough, I’m about to confuse you even more.
We’ve now established who their Characters are, now let’s move on to Roles. Neither of them are Holmes Roles, reason being that Sherlock at no point pulls a Loki and falls in love with himself (This joke only makes sense if you’ve watched the Loki series but essentially Loki falls in love with another variant of himself). This couldn’t be even framed in a metaphorical way, where Holmes becomes so enamoured by his intelligence and solidarity that the chivalrous, caring side joins with it (that even confused me) as Holmes does not show a lot of love for himself. Adding to this, the relationship between Hannibal and Will is difficult to describe. In some way it’s possessive, it’s bringing out the worst in each other, it’s manipulative, it’s sexually motivated (these are not all my opinions, just what I understand others believe). If you were to argue that Will Graham was both a Watson Character and Role, which would leave Hannibal to take on the Role of Holmes, it still wouldn't make sense because Holmes and Watson’s relationship is defined by their love for each other as people, not as heroes.
In all fairness, it is a fair argument to view Graham with a Watson Role, which is what I am establishing for this theory. Graham does in fact love Lecter; this is an undisputed fact, clarified by the final series. It’s canon. Graham, like Watson, is amazed by the Holmes Character's skills and wants to find out more, which can sometimes be a mistake. He is brought into the world of crime through the Holmes Character and (this is not the strongest argument, but if you look at it as, if it wasn’t for Hannibal killing people, Jack Crawford likely wouldn't have asked for Graham’s help). In a way, this can work apart from two important details, the first being Will Graham’s Character. As a Holmes Character, this admiration is not always shown and can lead to disputes. He is intelligent, like the other Holmes Character, and equally as strong-willed, leading to Graham’s and Lecter’s disagreements.
The second reason why this does not work is due to Hannibal’s role: Moriarty. I will admit, I am taking a lot of guidance from BBCSherlock for this one, but it still involves the ACD canon. To understand this, you will need to understand the idea of Moriarty being obsessed with Holmes, in a way that he believes is love but clearly is not. I do want to highlight that this is a one-way relationship- I in no way shape or form believe that Holmes loves Moriarty, and I’m speaking for every adaptation I have seen. This is essential to know. Because there is no reason to suggest otherwise, this theory works for ACD canon: the idea that Moriarty has been waiting in the shadows for Holmes to find him, so that he can take the opportunity to mould him into his right-hand man. It is clear from the start that Hannibal wants to see the lengths Will would go and he often tests him to see if he can coerce him to kill or even become a cannibal like himself, which Hannibal is successful in. He even goes as far as framing Will Graham for murder, but instantly regrets it, which is where his Moriarty Role is replaced by his Holmes Character. He wants to see 'what will happen’ similar to how both Holmes and Moriarty are testing similar things. With Moriarty, these ‘things’ are more about actively killing people, rather than seeing if someone will confess, like Holmes.
Perhaps it might be easier to view Hannibal purely as just being Moriarty, and I do understand that view. But, the biggest factor which goes against this is the love Hannibal has for Will Graham. Will is still a Holmes Character, but his role is Watson to Hannibal’s Holmes Character. Unlike Moriarty, he genuinely does love him, which goes further past obsession. Hannibal is Will’s Moriarty, Will is Hannibal’s Holmes. This is why it doesn’t not fit the Character’s or the Roles exactly, because these two relationships could not exist within the ACD canon.
As mentioned before, Will and Hannibal’s relationship is largely seen as ‘obsessive’ which can in some ways be seen from both sides, but largely with Hannibal. Hannibal is instantly captivated by Will from the start, and this obsession continues. The reason why I stated that, within a Moriarty Role, it is important that this relationship is one-sided is due to Will Graham essentially rejecting Hannibal multiple times, the most pivotal being when Hannibal gave himself up due to Will Graham saying he doesn’t want to think about him. The Holmes Character is not in love with Moriarty, therefore Will Graham does not always want to be with the FP in the Moriarty Role. To counter this, Will Graham also plays the Watson Role, who does want to be with the FP with the Holmes Character. This adds the complexity to the relationship, and the complexity to this theory which is getting more and more confusing.
Finally, this idea is brought together in the final episode of Hannibal. Here, Graham has let go of his Watson Role, submitting to the Moriarty Role and becoming what the Moriarty Role wants him to be. In, what I believe, a direct homage to The Final Problem, both the Holmes Characters, along with the Moriarty Role, fall over the edge, like in the story. The main difference: they chose to go together. Perhaps Will let go of the Watson Role, but he didn’t let go of his love for Hannibal.
So, that's how I've connected Sherlock Holmes to NBC's Hannibal. If you disagree, that's fine, it isn't the strongest argument. If you are very confused, don't worry, so am I.
I am hoping to read the Hannibal books soon, so I might add on to this.
This is the link I mentioned.

Is it true that Kishi’s wife is similar to Sakura. And I am thinking what if Kishi is gay but he hides it and he doesn’t love his wife so he wrote Sakura based on her
But it seems that he dismissed that theory later in another interview. Also if Sakura was Kishi's wife then why couldn't he make N/aruS@ku as endgame??? I mean Kishi knew that he was going to pair up Hinata with Naruto right from Pain Arc... If that's the case, why make Sakura to confess fakely and then dismiss their bond entirely for the rest of the Manga???
So, this Sakura was based on his Wife is just a theory. He never explicitly mentioned it... He infact, made Minato to say Sakura resembles a bit like Sakura in order to spite NH.
As for Kishi being Gay.... ***Giggling***
In Chinese novels, there is this genre called Harem which is usually written by Male Writers. They are veeeery popular among dudebros over there.
Those type of Genres usually goes like this... Like How a Poor UwU innocent boy who was abandoned, rejected and ostracized by the bullies has risen up to seize the position of power and in the process how he wins over inordinate number of Gals’ hearts because of... Yooo!!!! Toxic Masculinity....
And If you want a close to Western Equivalent of such Genre... Take James Bond movies. He is cool, rich, has gadgets and gets to bang a sexy femme fatale WITHOUT FAIL in every one of his movies.
To give you a picture,
Tumblr media
ALT
Pic from Scum Villain Self Saving System - Anime.
This is how your typical Harem novel Protagonist looks like. Sitting on a Throne, looking down on someone, surrounded by bimbos who wear skimpy costumes. He got Fuck load of Spiritual Power and lots of Gals.... It’s everything a guy ever wants in his (wet) dreams and these type of genre fuels Male Power and Sexual Fantasy. The Protagonists are usually termed as “Stallion”. And if you want to know more about this, Check this hilarious Reddit thread here. [[’Papapa’ means euphemism for Sex in Chinese]]
So, it’s A Typical Media for dudes to self-insert.
This kind of thing exists in our Naruto Manga too.
Tumblr media
Jiraiya was seen surrounded by Girls.
Tumblr media
Here, Filippo, the guy from Mario Manga was drawn very similar Stallion pose.
Tumblr media
My boy Charasuke too....
And that’s why Naruto created Harem No Jutsu in order to knock out Men.
Tumblr media
Because Men are horny for these stuffs and Naruto used their desire against them to knock them out.
But What Kishimoto really did in Naruto???
Tumblr media
He ended up drawing Naked Sasuke, Naked Sai and these bunch of Naked men...
+
Add the fact that, Naruto is Kishi’s Self-Insert character and Naruto practiced Naked men more than Rasengan
Tumblr media
+
Sexualization of Sasuke and sometimes Sai....
+
Made Sexualized Sasuke to seductively hug Naruto (as Kishimoto).
+
Made Sasuke look alike Sai to describe about Naruto’s Man Part several times.
+
Sakura and Hinata not being sexualized which is contrast to every other Mangakas who drew women characters in a Horny way.
Sigh.....
I mean, Instead of Giving “Stallion” contents for Dudebros by sensualizing girls & oozing out Masculinity just like how 99% of media does to women characters... He ended up Giving Yaoi contents for Girls as well as for Guys who are into men by making Sasuke to parade with his open chest for 100 Chapters & this Reverse Harem no Jutsu.. And he was regularly indulging them for 600+ Chapters...
LOL... I don’t know if Kish is a Gay and I am not going to indulge myself in it... But his taste and way of writing all points to him being one.

Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)
Chapter Two
Tumblr media
Warnings: none all nice
Chapter one | Chapter three
Tumblr media
When dad first picked you up from the airport, you were wearing a Spiderman shirt you bought from a street vendor in New York. Dad didn't look too pleased about you moving from fictional heroes to real ones who are breaking real life laws.
"Why can't you like firefighters or something?"
Those were the first words he spoke to you while packing your luggage into the back of his car.
"Why can't you like, I don't know, like Spiderman?"
Your father is a retired police officer. Used to be in the military and when he left working for Uncle Sam, he went into the police force. You love him! Really do, but it wasn't easy being his kid. Especially when you had a rebellion phase, it had put a strain on your relationship with him.
Mom and dad lived separately. Mom couldn't handle his PTSD and dad couldn't handle someone who wasn't understanding about his job. You stayed with mom until now, it has been a long time since you have seen your father.
"So are the fish and chips better here than back home?" After the awkward silent drive to his place, you speak up while taking the lift up to his… Flat. "Ever really thought about why they call it a Flat and not an apartment?"
"No." He grabs your bags with ease and walks out if the lift once at the floor he and now you live on.
"Maybe because after rent you are left," A pause for dramatic effect, "Flat broke! Ey!"
Your dad does not have a great sense of humor.
*
After showing you to your room, the amenities in the apartment, and giving you a copy of his keys. He laid down the standard ground rules, plus how the chores in the place are divided. Dad is well, you can tell he is trying to keep busy and pretend things are normal. "Congratulations." Talking was more of mom's thing than dad.
You smile, "Thanks." And you mean it. "Do you want to talk about it? Last time I saw you was at the funeral, dad." It still hurts to mention it. Mom died a few months back and you were staying with her sister, your aunt. "Because talking helps!" Trying hard to be there for a man who isolated himself completely to the point he moved to a whole different other country!
He looked at his watch before getting up from his chair, the 'man of the house' stereotype chair, "I got to go to work." He places his hand over your shoulder then pulls you into a hug, you hug him back recalling how he would do this often: kneel in front of you and hold you, his kid.
"I'll call you when I get to work."
"Are you still a cop?"
"With these old bones, no. I work at a restaurant."
"Wow." That's a big career change.
"See you later. Remember: no boys, or girls, or persons are allowed while I'm gone."
"Thumbs up on inclusiveness." Waving at him.
You sit there for a minute, looking around with your eyes, then playing with the fabric of the couch. "Form update tonight!" Getting up bolting to your room.
*
There's a dark (not really) mysterious (government is probably tracking it) site (it's reddit) where people come together posting videos, sharing fan art, and theories on heroes and villains. Got a forum starting from Captain America to Squirrel Girl, this place has everything. Recently, you and about five other people have been talking about a new hero videoed in Cairo. Eye witness reports, and few sketched out descriptions of two people. The one with bird wings is a really popular one. You find the person in white fascinating. The forum is updated every Thursday night, not a lot of posts about the mystery in white since there hasn't been much sightseeing of them since Cairo.
You lay on your bed making a long drawn out huff seeing the only new update is a theory post.
There are over three to four actual photos of the person in white. The shot and angles aren't the best but it is all anyone has. You hope to see the guy in the white suit the people in the forum say was seened in London.
You decide to just draw some sketches out and look over some class stuff before scavenging for food. Really doubt dad went food shopping.
Tumblr media
Two months in London.
If you pretend it is New York you actually find it easy to navigate. If New York was easy to navigate! You have been taking public transportation to get used to rather than have your dad spend gas on driving you everywhere (not that he minds). Two months, you are trying hard to adapt to this branch of your college. Lots of white collar students, you are here on scholarship and because dad knows a guy here. You stand out being American but not too much given there are other international students.
Friends are nonexistent. Socializing is not easy when you are hyperfocusing on getting a shit ton of projects done! Also your Art History professor is a dick.
However, for the minor bad things you have a cute guy asleep on your shoulder. Nothing new given you lived on public transportation back home.
Cheap and helps the environment.
The jerk of the bus wakes up the man on your shoulder, you barely noticed until he spoke.
"Sorry 'bout that." His accent is cute! The classic British movie type! Sipping what smells like coffee from his tumbler.
"Nah, man, you're fine!" Bright and smiley, he noticed you have an American accent, "You looked like you needed it. Hope you didn't miss your stop though." You talk while stretching in your, what looks like a notepad. "Oh here, thanks for being my muse for the ride." Still half awake he takes the piece of paper you give him before getting up. "This my stop, uh, cheers!"
Once off the bus you stand there then facepalm yourself.
You forgot to ask his name!
*
Too many essays, too many people in the study lounge, and you need to buy another sketchbook. Add on you started taking commissions online to get an extra pound or two (you want to say dollar so bad). Busy, busy, and the spring semester just started!
The library called the British Library has become your only safe haven to have any peace to do work.
Be back home by 8 - Dad
You groan. Your father works graveyard shift at the restaurant meaning you need to be at the apartment before he leaves. Glancing at the book next to your tablet you figure might as well start heading back. Bus schedules being shit is an international problem, who knew… Packing up is fairly quick and walking over to the reception desk like any normal person.
Then you see him.
Placing books on a cart, then typing something quickly on the computer behind the low desk. You stare at him longer than you intended.
"Miss?" He waves his hand in front of your face, "Do you need help?"
"Yo!" He raises an eyebrow at that reply, "Wait, sorry." You laugh nervously, "Hi, you're the sleepy bus guy, right?"
He blinks twice clearly confused before realization hits him, "The sketch?"
"Yeah, that's me, oh wow," You place your hand out, "I'm (Name)!"
He takes it, "Steven with a 'v'."
"There's another way to spell?"
"You'll be surprised." Deadpan about that. You laugh a little at it.

Do you think Terry Silver is secretly dying? There's a popular Reddit theory that he might, which would explain that scene of him randomly being at the hospital and some of the things that come up in his dialogue (like saying he was meant to die in battle when he's at Chozen's mercy).
100%. Someone (one of the writers?) mentioned in an interview that they filmed a scene with Silver learning about a terminal diagnosis, which explains A TON about his arc in the final few episodes. But apparently they held that and Johnny's proposal in order to leave something for season six, in case they were renewed 😕

Your last post led me to check out Reddit & I have regrets haha. I did not expect it to be so pro-Elriel. Or at least so nasty towards people who don’t want Elriel. The lightsinger theory seems popular there, too, which prompts my ask. The way most of the lightsinger arguments are presented (Gwyn knowingly being evil) — what purpose does that even serve other than to tear down one ship and prop up another? There’s already enough villains in the story with Koschei, Beron, and the remaining queens. Why add another — especially one integral to Nesta’s healing journey? Not to mention the character credited with becoming the first of the reborn Valkyrie. Doesn’t make any sense to me, except to invalidate the possibility that what Az was feeling at the end of the BC was a mating bond. Because seriously, Gwyn using her lightsinger powers to get someone to gift her a necklace? That she doesn’t even know exists? But, oh! Elain knows a dangerous lightsinger is in the library & gives Azriel earbuds instead of telling literally anyone anything. Just saying that out loud sounds silly. These characters are more than their romantic interests! And I know SJM made Tamlin a jerk in the Tamlin/Feyre/Rhys triangle, but I can’t see her pitting two women against each other or making it an easy choice by having one option suddenly evil. I’ve seen a lot of Elriels say Eluciens or Gwynriels haven’t read the books or can’t understand what they’re reading, but some on that side are just vilifying the threats to their ship instead (or even inadvertently vilifying Elain if she knows of a major threat and says nothing). That’s definitely enough Reddit-ing for me!
Reddit and Tik Tok, those be war zones! 😬😂
Gwyn, not Elain, was given mating bond terminology with Azriel. Az might have questioned why both Mor and Elain weren't his mate but again Gwyn (not Elain), is the one who SJM dropped clues for the possibility of sharing an actual bond with him.
So why would SJM give Az a mating bond with an "evil" female? We know Az has self esteem issues, something like that would mess him up even more than he already is.
They then love the theory that she's manipulating him but that would read as:
"Why isn't Mor my mate after loving her for centuries?"
"Why wasn't Elain my mate since her sisters are with my brothers?"
"Oh thank the Cauldron, Gwyn I've shown admiration for is my mate! I am worthy!"
"Gwyn tricked me and I again have no mate".
Actually, "Elain IS my true mate!
It gets a bit ridiculous when some in the fandom don't realize how farfetched certain theories sound.
I have to say it but Az isn't some super special prize that a female needs to trick her way into his good graces 😂. What exactly would she be accomplishing? Ianthe (because some try to claim they're related 🤔) went after Lucien and Rhys because they were the son of a High Lord and a High Lord and she was after what their name and positions could do for her.
Az might be powerful but his name doesn't hold any weight anywhere except bringing fear to the Night Courts enemies. Being with Az doesn't "open up" any doors to her.
Also, why would Gwyn return to the library after the Rite which limits her access to Az if she were in fact trying to manipulate Az? Wouldn't we see her spending all her time at the HOW in hopes of seeing Azriel there? The more like scenario is that Gwyn is not trying to manipulate anyone and is still working on overcoming her traumas. Which we'll see more of in her book with Az.
And why would SJM give Nesta a friend who was responsible (along with Emerie though Gwyn came along first) for helping her overcome her depression, only to have her turn evil? How would that make any sense when Nesta's pov is over?
And yeah, it's ludicrous that anyone thinks Elain would give Az a GAG GIFT, really a secret coded message warning him of the danger he's in rather than just telling him of the danger he's in 🤦

Yeeeah, the BSD fandom usually prefer to ignore the weird shit the Tanizaki siblings are doing LOL. Actually there's a really popular fan theory that Naomi isn't actually Junichiro's sister and they're just doing weird roleplaying (note they look nothing alike). But Tanizaki's a badass, you'll see it in later episodes, his ability is actually really OP! <3
i read about this theory last night, actually!!
tw: incest (just in case!)
the people on reddit were saying it’s very possible this concept was taken and modified from one of the real tanizaki’s novels where the characters/couple pretend to be related to live together (??? take that with a grain of salt as i cannot find a source to back it up other than the comments online). someone else said that no one within the novel actually believes them because the characters look nothing alike, so it makes total sense that it’s quite literally explicitly mentioned in the anime!
if anything, this makes their relationship more interesting to me, esp since full blood incest squicks me out pretty bad (obv nothing against people who write/read it—my friends write it—just a personal preference)! i know they aren’t a main focus at all & i’m rly not into femdoms but if u read naomi as just a massive brat who likes to tease and fluster her ‘brother’ in public and see just how far she can push it/he’ll allow her to push it,,,, well that’s just such a FUN dynamic now isn’t it 8) hehehe
waaah anon he’s so cute!!!! i’m on episode five atm!! i’m going to watch a few more episodes tonight :) i really, really love the idea of the characters being named after + inspired by classic authors (and asagiri has achieved his goal of attempting to get more people into japanese literature through bsd because i am absolutely going to pick up naomi (the novel) asap and give it a read!) and the organized crime is just a huge yes from me <3 excited to see where it goes n if it keeps my interest!

Honorable Mentions:
My 1,152 Followers (Up 33% from last year).
[tumblr]’s own Year in Review generator , which only lists half the posts of @jetblackcode‘s TumblrTop10 but does offer up a bunch of other stats.
My Miette Halloween Costume post from 2021, which last year at this time was at 428 Notes, but blew up this year and is at 6186 Notes, becoming my most popular post ever.
My reply to a video of Dr. Tatiana Erukhimova stabbing a potato with a knife and hammer, consisting of an image of Bill Nye captioned “Inertia is a property of Matter”. None of the [tumblr] stats tools that I’ve found tell you what your most popular reblogs are, but I was seeing likes and reblogs on that reblog several times a day every day for a few months.
Similarly, my replies to posts by both spitblaze and chansaw. If I had a nickel for every time someone posted advice to new [tumblr] users that was just the text of “This is not a place of honor ...” long term nuclear waste burial site warning, and I replied with a photoshop of the DashCon Ball Pit in front of the proposed “Field of Spikes” warning monument ... I’d have two nickles, but it’s weird that it happened twice. But one of those posts inspired @th3b33skn33s to draw some wonderful art of a genetically engineered Ray Cat hissing angrily at the [tumblr] t in the ball pit as its bio-luminescence genes are triggered by the elevated radiation.
Some impromptu crafting the other day to make more storage for my ever expanding dice collection inspired others to go do the same.
The couch was not the only new furniture that the housepanthers had to adjust to.
Like everyone else, I had a post queued for the April First Crash.
I mess around with Hero Forge a lot, and post my stuff here and on the /r/heroforgeminis/ subreddit. The CEO of the company saw a .gif I had made, and decided that .gif making needed to be an official feature.
The Netflix shirt from 2000 mentioned above, that I found while emptying out my storage unit, wasn’t the only treasure unearthed. This Big Mac styrofoam clamshell did better numbers on reddit than here, but my most popular reddit post is still only a third the size of my most popular [tumblr] post.
And if you hadn’t noticed from two fifths of the top ten list, the household has new cats this year. We still miss the old boys especially around the holidays, but the Voids bring us much love and laughter.

Okay, I know many of you are upset, and rightfully so about many things. Still think many of you need to read the definition on queer baiting but also
Y’all, us on tumblr or Reddit and even Twitter, we are not the target audience. The target audience, the casual viewers who don’t watch and read every interview or are always looking at the trailers. Who don’t really come up with theories like us, who simply watch for a good story and move on with their life
They are the target audience.
Ships like ronance, or steddie and more and how they were spoken about or implied are ships that the target audience won’t even think about m. Many of them only watch the show and frankly, while I ship many of the ships (including the two mentioned) to the average viewer they wouldn’t expect a romantic or sexual relationship.
Things like with Robin and her crush (I’m so sorry I forgot her name) are someone they see easily and by whatever reactions they have will probably decide if it becomes a relationship or not. Or for instance Will, it’s so incredibly easy for many to see he’s queer, sure we have those who deny it those who refuse to accept it but the average viewer who’s not homophobic will see it clearly but they may not see blyer.
It sucks and it’s not fair because they know we’re the ones watching the interviews. We’re the ones bringing the popularity despite being the minority. We are the one who spend hours, weeks, months, years on this show and the characters. We are the ones who see ourselves in these characters and end up knowing them more than the actual writers in the end half the time.
But we are not the target audience despite all of that. So stop watching or whatever, it’ll change nothing. Because we are the minority in this case. The views won’t drop hugely because some of us stop watching. At the end of the day while we may have gotten them attention we are not needed for them to be successful. Especially with one one more season left.

Please allow me to tell you about one of my favourite cartoons through this informal essay I did for school a couple of months back.
Tumblr media
Gravity Falls and How it Did The Unimaginable
**SPOILERS... KINDA**
The 2010s saw the creation of some of the most iconic animated tv shows ever made, the likes of Adventure Time (2010), Steven Universe (2013), Over the Garden Wall (2014) and The Legend of Korra (2012). To explain why this era’s shows are so admirable is honestly rather difficult. Yet, there are many factors that can be taken into consideration when looking for an answer.
The past decade was very successful in perfecting their craft and utilizing the animated format to their favour, creating some of the wackiest and fascinating cartoons ever made. With the advancements made in both 2D and 3D animation for film, this bled into the world of TV as well.
To mention that 2010s cartoons have stunning visuals would be an understatement. Everything about the animation was beautiful; the strong colour palettes, the clean and imaginative character designs, the colourful and immersive backgrounds and especially the mesmerizing worlds that can be found within episodes that are half an hour.
This era’s cartoons also led to a massive shift in storytelling, writing longer-running stories that spread out across seasons while also swapping out episodic adventures for serialization. This heavily aided in the popularization of these shows, due to the rise of internet fandoms and dropping the taboo that cartoons were only for kids. Many shows acknowledged their older viewers by leaving clues and even puzzles to be solved by the theorists who have a large appearance on social media platforms like Reddit, Twitter and Tumblr. As the shows progressed, their fandoms created many theories for what they believed might happen within their favourite series. The top three shows from this era all utilized these changes, being at the forefront of the shift and helping guide the creative vision of 2010s cartoons.
Often regarded as many people’s favourite cartoon, Gravity Falls presented one of the best mysteries of the decade with two seasons and only 40 episodes. Inspired by Twin Peaks and The X-Files, it’s considered as the kids’ version of these two iconic shows as this cartoon acts as many people’s first introduction to horror through bright colours and fun characters.
This series follows the adventures of Dipper and Mabel Pines, twins, who are sent to spend their summer with their great-uncle or Grunkle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon. This town is full of oddities like supernatural creatures, insane and eccentric inhabitants, and many puzzles. The Pines twins must adjust to the weirdness while uncovering the mysteries and protecting their new town.
While living in Gravity Falls, the twins are forced to work in the Mystery Shack, a tourist trap created by their Grunkle Stan that overcharges unlucky tourists, teaching about fake monsters despite there being real creatures all over town. On his first day in Oregon, Dipper accidentally came across a mysterious journal written by an unknown author that explains all the oddities to be found in this strange town. This book acts like an encyclopedic of the Weird for Dipper, an inquisitive 12-year-old kid who seeks answers.
Dipper is an extremely intelligent kid, his brain being far more developed than his body. He’s rather awkward and self-conscious as he often stumbles over his words or gets embarrassed trying to talk to girls. Despite this, the boy is an adventurer at heart who just wants to grow up and skip his upcoming teenage years.
While Mabel is quite the opposite in many ways, she is loud and has an in-your-face personality. Mabel is bouncy and fun, she is so excited to start high school. She is easily excitable and for the larger part of the series, she is in her boy-crazy phase. Mabel is a girly-girl as she likes all things; glitter, unicorns, rainbows, partying and crafting. Yet, she doesn’t often compare well with many of the other girls in town, they see her as weird and “too much”.
(In all fairness through, it is not too kind to either of the characters as their personalities are more complex than just awkward nerd and artsy girl-girly.)
Dipper and Mabel’s personalities are very different but somehow, they—along with their Gravity Falls family—manage to solve mysteries and save the town, multiple times.
Gravity Falls is an honestly genius series that completely changed the way cartoons were made. Originally when writing a series, you’d create a base of your story; characters, the universe and a basic plot. Yet, when creator, Alex Hirsch (who was in his early/mid-20)s and his small team first began constructing their show, they planned out everything they could possibly think of for the first season. Additionally, outlining some answers for their biggest mysteries that would be answered at the end of the series.
Despite being rated TV-Y7, this series really pushed the boundaries of kids’ television. From the teeth being ripped out of a deer’s mouth by a demon, rearranging the functions of every hole on a man’s face to an aggressive pop-rock sock puppet show that ended in a dramatic slow-motion scene of the puppets burning. Gravity Falls wasn’t afraid to get a little weird or creepy. Or create some genuine nightmare fuel.
From the beginning, Gravity Falls had built a mystery into its series, hiding secrets and clues all throughout the show. Most notably were the backwards-recorded message and cryptograms, using roughly nine different kinds, even creating two of their own.
The inclusion of cyphers and mysteries for fans to solve is possibly the reason why this series was so successful. As one of the first shows to do something like this, Gravity Falls used social media and internet fandoms to its advantage.
As mentioned earlier, cartoon fans have quite a presence on social media platforms like Twitter and Tumblr. They create theories and share fun ideas about their favourite shows. Viewers of Adventure Time, Gravity Falls and Steven Universe were all included in their share of theory fun.
Sometimes, fan theories end up being correct but when you’re Gravity Falls creator, Alex Hirsch, you don’t just watch from the sidelines as your viewers figure out the biggest mystery of your show. No, you create a hoax to get your viewers off your trail and that is what he did. Around 2013, only halfway through the first season of the show, viewers had started to follow the clues, theorizing who was the author is Dipper’s mysterious journal.
Unfortunately for the Gravity Falls production crew, the viewers were right— for the sake of readers who have never seen the show, I will not mention who the author was as it would be the biggest spoiler.
In 2013, a supposed leaked image of a tv showing a younger version of the show’s crazy old man character, Old Man McGucket, writing in the infamous journal was uploaded anonymously (by Alex Hirsch) to 4Chan.
Despite the image only being on up for a few hours, it spread like wildfire. Much to the team’s success, theorists stopped searching for the answer to “who is the author” and just accepted the image of McGucket as the truth.
To further push the fake-out, three words were posted to Alex’s Twitter, “fuming right now.”
The tweet was deleted a few minutes later and fans genuinely believed that someone from the Gravity Falls team had leaked the most important part of the story.
While doing research, I came across a Reddit post from April 10th, 2013, the day after ‘leak,’ Alex’s tweet was uploaded. In this post, user, TheoDW uploaded an image of Alex’s tweet with the caption, “It seems that Hirsch got mad at last night’s leak. He already deleted this tweet.”
Seeing the reactions of these Redditors in 2013 is kind of weird and crazy to look at. “He has every right to be upset. Someone internally released a plot revealing screen shot of series breaking spoiler information,” a deleted Reddit account commented.
“This is Alex Hirsch’s biggest success by far, he spent a huge amount of time carefully planning out the series, and then in a moment someone releases a major spoiler. It would make anyone upset,” the user, Time_Loop commented.
“Seriously, this is a nightmare for a storyteller, and shows a breach of trust. I feel so bad for him–honestly, I hope whoever did the leak gets caught and appropriate action is taken. You don’t f–k with someone’s story like this. It’s unprofessional.” the user, lonelybeloved angrily commented.
In 2014, this ‘leak’ was finally disproven when viewers were given an episode on McGucket’s backstory and an amazing tweet from Alex Hirsch.
Alex had post an image of himself playfully pointing at a monitor with the supposed leaked picture with the caption, “1) Make hoax  2) Upload to 4Chan  3) Post angry tweet about "leak" 4) Delete tweet 5) Let internet do rest”
It is so interesting to look at these comments know that all of this was orchestrated by Alex.
I wish I had been old enough at the time to follow theories and fandom stuff like I do now with current cartoons but really looking at this from an outside perspective, this was insane!
The real author wasn’t revealed until 2015 and when viewers first got the answer to this biggest show on their screens, they must have freaked out!
Following the finale in 2016, a single frame of a stone version of Bill Cipher, the show’s villain, flashed in after the credits had finished.
Alex Hirsch and his team actually created a real-life statue of their villain for their viewers to find and on July 20th, 2016, the Cipher Hunt began.
By following clues, the Hunters found themselves all over the world; Russia, Japan and then travelling throughout the United States for the final 12 clues. When the hunt took them to Los Angeles, actor, Jason Ritter (voice of Dipper Pines, also a massive fan of the series) and Alex Hirsch’s twin sister, Ariel Hirsch (the inspiration for Mabel) joined in the fun helping the search.
Finally, the hunt ended on August 2nd when someone tweeted out an image of the found statue in Oregon, the same state in which the fictional town of Gravity Falls exists. The Cipher Hunt had ended but finding the statue wasn’t Alex’s goal for the scavenger hunt, it was about the journey and bringing together the viewers, more than having them actually find the statue.
Creating its own hoax, an international scavenger hunt and quite a bit of nightmare fuel, Gravity Falls was a show truly unlike any other.
The 2010s saw some of the strongest cartoons ever made, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls and Steven Universe acting as the leaders for multiple different changes in the medium; storytelling, worldbuilding, interaction with viewers, utilizing social media, representation and further pushing music into the cartoon world. From what was created this past decade and what has already been released in 2020, I’m so excited to see what comes next.
Tumblr media
I have another one of these which is on Steven Universe’s representation and music if you would like to see that too!!

C!SAM - Redeemable Qualities Analysis (Dream SMP)
Hallo! I’m back with another brain rot post for ya’ll instead of doing my schoolwork :]
Recently, I’ve been doing some thinking and theorizing with some friends on discord following Quackity’s huge lore stream (if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend you watch it). I woke up this morning with a head full of many thoughts about C!Awesamdude and where his story could take us. Seeing as how there is going to be lots of change in the future with the server, there must be changes in these characters as well-- evil to good, good to evil, and the like. With these changes comes my thought: “can these characters be redeemed?” Here are my thoughts on how this applies to C!Sam.
Please let me know your thoughts and theories, I’d love to discuss with you! As always, strap in, it’s gonna be a long one :]
I hope you enjoy!
Author’s note: I want to start this off by saying that all of the contents being discussed are fictional, and are from the Dream SMP universe. I do not support the actions of these characters, but merely have interest in analyzing them through a lens of psychology and for entertainment purposes. Content of this post will contain spoilers up to 3/25/21 of the DSMP lore. I will also talk about ATLA a little bit ;)
Content warning: mentions of torture, manipulation, death, possible psychological trauma
(pls be safe ily)
What makes a redeemable character?
Redeemable characters are some of the most pleasing and favored characters in modern media. Their stories are rich with emotion, and they can even evoke some form of catharsis within the most skeptic consumers. Redeemable characters are memorable and inspiring, and without one, a story can feel empty. Before we apply this character trope to the Dream SMP and C!Sam, we need to answer a basic question in order to fully understand the complexity of redeemable characters and how they are so universally significant.
What is a redeemable character?
Simply put, a redeeming character or characteristic counteracts or corrects something negative. From a storytelling standpoint, a redeemable character is someone who has roots in good qualities, turns bad, and has the ability to revert their wrong choices to become a better person.
Examples of redeemed characters in popular media include:
Zuko - Avatar the Last Airbender
Boromir - Lord of the Rings
Kylo Ren - Star Wars
Severus Snape - Harry Potter
Zuko, for example, starts his story off as the villain. He tirelessly hunts down the protagonist, and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal to please his father. However, as the show progresses, we learn that Zuko wasn’t always bad. He was only driven to his path of villainy because of his fear of failure, of his father (the firelord and true antagonist of the show), and of a greater punishment than what he had already received. With the help of his uncle, Zuko learned to push through and accept his past, while also making amends with his wrongs and coming to the realization of who the true enemy was; ultimately choosing peace and unity over destruction and fear.    Zuko’s story is so appealing because it was drawn out. It was raw, it was real, and it was a genuine telling of how damaged people can heal, change, and come to accept themselves. Because he went through the process of redemption, he was not only able to be loved by those around him, but also by his audience-- And I believe that this can be the same case with any redeemable character.
So how does this relate to C!Sam? How could he possibly be redeemable if he is not evil?
C!Sam has become increasingly interesting to me in the DSMP lore, and he has shown how complex his character is-- in contrast to many first impressions that people have of him. Based upon his actions from the past, and his willingness to remain neutral in times of conflict, we can conclude that he sustains both “neutral good” and “lawful neutral/good” qualities. This means that Sam is a reliable character, driven by his own personal values, and is devoted to helping others (when he sees fit). Evidence of these qualities emerge…
When he sided with Pogtopia during the Manberg War to maintain good relations with Tommy and Tubbo.
When he saved Hannah from the Egg
Created Sam Nook to assist Tommy in building his hotel
Built Pandora’s Vault for Dream
Showed concern for Ranboo after one of his denied prison visits
Sam’s moral code is deeply rooted with good intentions; he keeps an eye out for his friends, maintains his relationships, assists in builds/projects, and also serves as a “stable adult figure” for some of the younger members of the server. In contrast to his logical outward appearance, C!Sam lets his emotions drive his decision making-- which can lead to many severe consequences depending on how he acts. However, recently Sam’s actions indicate that he is experiencing a flip in morals.
Below are incidents that have led to C!Sam’s recent change in moral code.
Incident 1: Trapped with the Egg
Many weeks ago, during the height of character involvement with the Egg lore, C!Sam was lured into a trap by BBH and Antfrost. He spent about a day trapped in close contact with the Egg, and after he was saved by Puffy and Tommy, he was clearly changed. It is likely that the Egg is behind these sudden changes in character motivation for Sam… similarly to how it corrupted BBH, Ant, and Punz. Whether this is the case with Sam is unclear.
Incident 2: Tommy’s death
C!Sam and C!Tommy’s relationship within the DSMP lore is one of my favorite things to talk about. After his victory over the disk war and finally landing his nemesis in prison, Tommy was left empty, without much to do. He decided to take upon a new project to incite a new era of peace, and was able to enlist the help of Sam with building his hotel. Throughout this process (and under the watchful eye of Sam Nook), Tommy and Sam were able to develop a bond with each other through their work, along with their interactions at the Prison.
Sam has made it clear that he intends to defend Tommy no matter what-- but after his untimely death at the hands of C!Dream, Sam was deeply wounded. He felt as if he failed his promise to keep Tommy safe, and he made it clear that the blame for the “security issue” and C!Tommy’s death should be placed fully on him. No matter how selfless and responsible this makes his character appear, this event will only serve as the basis for severe consequences in moral change in the future.
Incident 3: Confrontation with Quackity
Following the large emotional impact of Tommy’s death, C!Sam is very vulnerable, because he is still within the stages of grief. C!Quackity came to Sam for a partnership, to take advantage of Sam while he was low to gain the upper hand. It’s no question that Q’s character is a talented manipulator, we can see that clearly in his interaction with Sam. Q restates again and again that Sam failed, further cementing Sam’s existing guilt and desire for revenge for his failure. Sam gives in to the manipulation, and somewhat reluctantly allows Quackity to torture Dream to get information and to get payback for what he did to Tommy... which completely goes against what his responsibility of Warden entails.
As Warden, C!Sam is supposed to uphold the law and rules of visitation, but because of his leniency with Quackity (in breaking the rules) and because he is still emotionally raw, he no longer defends good from evil, but is now biased against it. C!Sam probably wants Dream dead, but as Warden, his opinion shouldn’t matter. Because Sam fully blames himself for failing Tommy, he's lost the "lawful good" in his character, meaning Warden Sam (as a set of morals) truly doesn't exist anymore.
Incident 4: Ponk’s mistake
To recap a stream briefly, Ponk did a prank on Sam a couple days ago, and stole a few of the expired keycards to Pandora’s Vault. Rightfully, Sam was very angry, and not only took back the keycards, but also imprisoned Ponk. However, where this interaction should have ended, C!Sam only took it to the extreme. (TW!!!!) Out of anger and frustration, C!Sam tortured Ponk for his wrongdoing by setting him on fire, and amputating his arm (END TW!!!).
This only proves my point from Incident 3. Warden Sam is fading, only bits and pieces of his morally neutral character remain within him for basic tasks. His encounter with Quackity had a huge impact on his psyche, not only is he allowing the torture of the prison occupants, but he is doing it himself as well. C!Sam is now starting to believe that pain and torture are the only solutions for punishment, which is the complete opposite of what he believed before Dream was imprisoned.
In short...
C!Sam is losing his grip on moral and mental stability because of his emotional insecurity due to his psychological trauma. Because of this, I believe that it is entirely possible for Sam’s character to explore the route of evil and unlawful values-- which furthers the possibility for a redemption arc. Even currently, Sam is eligible for redemption as well.
If C!Sam is willing to acknowledge his wrongs from today and improve himself upon them, he will likely become a more memorable, lovable, and even more human character than we’ve seen in the SMP before.
SIDENOTE!
IRL Sam recently posted in his discord talking about his character. Here are a few key things to keep in mind as the story goes forward:
“There is a LOT of things in the plan for me as a character and a very big change is coming about for me as the story moves along.”
I believe this change could be a villain arc, or a turn towards evil that incites the possibility for redemption.
“My character is playing a role that I think is VITAL for the server and a role that I like to think was a good one for me to pick up and accept.”
