Steddie She's All That au????
Steve pulls up to the Munson's trailer, a secondhand acoustic across the backseat. Can't believe he's here; that he's actually doing this. He shouldn't. Absolutely should not; knows he let his still-simmering animosity with Billy Hargrove push him to this, to trying to date Eddie Munson, to proving that he's still popular enough to win prom king with the Freak on his arm.
Munson doesn't deserve it, is the thing. For all his weirdness, his off-putting behavior, Steve thinks he might be nice. Or kind, maybe? Steve's noticed how he gathers the freshman who have no one else, gives them understanding, a place to belong. And those kids, they remind him of Dustin, Will, Mike, Lucas, and he can't help but feel something warm towards the Freak, some kind of kinship.
He puts the car in reverse, can't go through with pretending to like this guy who did nothing wrong but be too much himself.
Before he gets his foot on the gas a head pokes out the front door.
"You came," Eddie shouts.
"Said I was." Steve surrenders to his fate and puts the car in park. Eddie watches him as he grabs the guitar case, hauls it up the stairs, only moving to step out of the way.
Steve's eyes scan the living room and kitchen, something in his chest loosening as he does. There are mugs and hats covering the walls, a worn sofa, clutter on every surface. It's home in a way Steve has never experienced. He loves it.
"Alright, let it out, Harrington. I'm poor, etc."
"No!" Steve startles; hadn't realized he'd been staring so obviously. "I like it."
Eddie makes a face, but offers him a beer and guides him to sit on the couch.
"How much do you know?" Eddie asks without preamble.
He strums a couple of notes, things he picked up at summer camp ages ago. Munson nods. "Better than I expected."
Eddie runs through notes and chords, helps Steve get his fingering right. He's patient, almost kind, and he laughs softly as he gently corrects Steve's mistakes.
And Steve's fingers, they won't behave, keep slipping off the strings. Eddie arranges himself to drape around his shoulders, fits their hands together. He's warm, fingers long and callused, his rings slightly colder than Steve's skin.
"Like this, Harrington." And he and Steve strum in tandem, and Steve is caught by the light glinting in his curls, the softness of his dark brown eyes, the fullness of his pink lips. He wonders how soft they are, what they taste like, if Eddie would cling to him or take control.
"You with me, Steve?" Eddie asks, shocking him back to the present.
"Yeah, yes, right here. Sorry." He throws himself into learning, but can't stop stealing little looks at the man teaching him.
And Steve, he knows it's not a bet anymore. He'll tell Hagan and Hargrove he's out, take whatever shit they give him, and Eddie never has to know.
---
A month in, Steve walks into the trailer and sees those little figurines, like the kids have for their game, scattered on the coffee table; sheets of paper with scrawled writing and doodles lining the floor; one of those weird manual things that Dustin always lugs around sitting open on the couch.
"Fuck, Stevie, I'm sorry. Lost track of time." Eddie's face turns pink as he gathers the looseleaf and slams the book closed.
"You play that dragon game?" He asks. He picks up one of the figures, studies the meticulous paint. It does something weird to his heart.
"What did you think Hellfire--Wait." Eddie pauses. "Why do you--Steve Harrington--know about dnd?"
"The kids I babysit play."
Eddie stares at him openmouthed. "Shit, sweetheart. You've been holding out on me. You ever join them?"
"Nah. To tell you the truth, they're pretty intimidating about it."
Eddie laughs, drawing Steve's eyes to his slender neck. "You scared of children, Stevie?"
"You haven't met them, man. They're terrifying."
"You know," Eddie's eyelashes flicker. "I run a campaign with Hellfire after school every Friday. You could--if you wanted--you could come. You're probably busy, I know, but if you find some free time and you wan--
"Eddie!" Steve laughs. "I wouldn't miss it."
"Really?"
"Promise."
---
He shows up that first Friday to some mixed reactions from most of the Hellfire members, and Eddie's shy, pleased smile. They make eye contact and Steve's stomach swoops.
"You came," Eddie says when they get a second alone.
"I told you I would." Steve laughs.
"C'mon, you're going to tell me this isn't a hopelessly lame way for King Steve to spend a Friday night?"
"Maybe." Steve nudges Eddie's chest. "And maybe I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
Steve watches them play and is transfixed. He's never seen Eddie totally in his element. His voice goes deep and rumbly, doing accents, shouting, jumping around, banging on the table. Steve can't pull his eyes away, doesn't want to, can't stop smiling.
"What'd you think?" Eddie asks when the session is over and they're alone. His hands shuffle through his notebook, eyes fixed firmly on the table.
Steve grabs his wrists, soft, careful. "Amazing, Eddie," he says. "You were amazing."
"Really?" Eddie's throat bobs. He finally looks up, meets Steve's eyes.
"Never seen anything like you." His eyes drift to Eddie's mouth. The space between them shrinks.
"Eddie?"
"Yeah?" his voice waivers.
"Can I kiss you?"
He thinks Eddie might pull away, freeze up, but instead his eyelashes flutter, his lips shaping into a gentle smile. "I'd be disappointed if you didn't."
Steve laughs, slips his fingers through Eddie's hair, closes the distance between them. It starts sweet and soft, until Eddie's tongue brushes his bottom lip and Steve opens for him, lets him take control, as easy as anything. For the first time, he lets someone else lead, sinks into it, into Eddie. It's perfect.
---
Prom court nominations come out with Steve number one on the ballot for king. The other nominees are Billy, Tommy, and some weirdo religious zealot junior Steve barely knows, Jason Carver.
He doesn't think much of it, having slipped so easily into a version of himself that sits at the Hellfire table at lunch, spends evenings at the Munson trailer and nights in Eddie's bed. Sure, he catches Hargrove glaring at him throughout the day, but pays it no mind. Billy Hargrove's always pissed about something, anyway.
So, he's unprepared when Hargrove and Hagan corner him that afternoon as he's waiting for Eddie to finish up a deal. There's a kick in his stomach, a swirl of nausea, at their presence. He didn't ever tell Eddie about the bet, figured it didn't matter since they were together, since they both started falling.
"Think you're hot shit, Harrington?" Hargrove asks. Hagan laughs like he's never heard a real joke before.
"I'm out," he says in way of answer. "Bet's over."
"Stevie-Boy, I don't think you understand," Hagan says.
"Nah, I'm not doing it." Worry prickles at his scalp. Eddie will be done soon, and he needs Billy and Tommy gone.
Hargrove pinches Steve's chin in his grip. "We made a bet, and you're seeing it through."
"Hey, hey, hey," the last voice Steve wants to hear right now shouts. "What the fuck is going on here? Get the fuck off him, Hargrove."
Billy's wrenched away, but he's laughing, and Steve is frozen at the train wreck unfolding in front of him.
"Harrington tell you about the bet?" Billy asks.
"Bet?" Eddie's nose wrinkles in the cute way Steve loves and he's terrified of what comes next.
"Uh-huh. Hagan and I bet Harrington here that he couldn't date the biggest dud in school and still wind up prom king. Little did we know, I guess."
Steve watches as the words hit Eddie, as he processes them, as his face falls. His gut twists as he watches his boyfriend go tense.
"What?" Eddie's eyes widen with panic.
Tommy's face contorts into a cruel smile."You didn't think Harrington was actually into you, did you?"
Eddie doesn't respond, won't look at any of them, draws into himself.
Hargrove snickers. "That's what I thought. Have a good night." He gives them a pageant queen wave as he walks away.
Steve's crosses to Eddie as soon as the other two are gone, but Eddie flinches, stopping him in his tracks.
"Was I bet, Steve?" He asks. His voice cracks.
"It wasn't like that, Ed, I swear. I swear." He grabs Eddie's shoulders, and again, he's pushed away.
"You didn't answer the question."
"It was real for me," Steve babbles. "It was all real for me. I promise."
"Answer me!" Tears limn his eyes. "Was I a bet?"
"It wasn't like--"
"Was I a fucking bet?" He yells and Steve can't take it. Can't take the hurt all over Eddie's face, the betrayal. Wants to erase it, to make everything okay, to get back to where they were last night, wrapped in Eddie's bedsheets, giggling.
"It started as a bet, okay? It did. I messed up by not telling you. I know I did. But I like you so much. I--I--" Steve loves him. He knows without any doubt, but he can't say it not now, not for this.
"Fuck you, Harrington," Eddie says. His voice is even but his face is a wreck.
"Please, Eddie." Steve begs. "Please. Give me a chance to explain. You're everything."
Eddie doesn't respond. He climbs into his van, drives away without a second glance.
---
He tries to apologize.
He tries to apologize, but Eddie isn't at school, not at first, and the death glare he gets from the Hellfire guys lets him know he's no longer welcome. When Eddie does come back he won't so much as look at Steve.
He goes to the trailer park where Wayne--Wayne who he watched sports with, Wayne who liked him--stands on the steps and says, "I don't think you have any business here anymore, kid. Not if you know what's good for you." And Steve nods and goes home and cries.
---
Steve stands on the stairs of the Munson trailer in his tux with a bouquet of flowers that are so purple they're almost black and a self-recorded tape in his hands. Prom is tonight but he has no interest in going to the dance that started all this bullshit.
Music pounds from inside; Judas Priest, he thinks. Eddie's van is in the driveway and Wayne's car is not.
The music quiets at his knock, and his heart pounds in the silence. Eddie frowns when he opens the door, but it morphs into something infinitely sadder when he sees Steve.
"Aren't you supposed to be at a dance?" Eddie asks.
"No, I--I didn't want to go. I wanted to say--Eddie, I'm sorry. I should've told you the truth from the beginning. I was afraid of losing you, and you learned the truth in the worst possible way."
Eddie doesn't speak or move, so Steve barrels on.
"I--uh--I ordered these for you. Before we broke up. And I just thought--you should still have them. That you would like them."
Eddie takes the flowers like he's in a daze.
"And uh, this too," Steve places the cassette in Eddie's hand. "It's um, stupid, probably? But I miss you and I'm sorry and just--take it."
---
Steve's been at the quarry for two hours, staring up at the stars from the hood of his car. He should go, probably. Eddie clearly isn't going to show. But he can't make himself. If he stays here, looking at the sky, losing Eddie won't be real.
He's dozing off, almost asleep, when the shine of headlights has him blinking alert. A familiar van trundles to a stop next to him, and Eddie climbs out. He's wearing a snug black button-down with a deep purple rose pinned to his chest, tight black jeans, and shining black boots.
"You came." Steve scrambles off his car, graceless in his relief, his gratitude.
Eddie nods. "Wasn't sure if I should but--" he shrugs.
"I'm glad you did. Thank you. I--" he swallows. "Eddie, I'm so sorry. I'll do anything, anything if it means you'll forgive me."
"Anything?" Eddie's mouth turns up at the corner.
Steve nods, firm. "I promise."
"You learned 'Rainbow in the Dark' for me."
"I did."
"That's a really hard song." Eddie smiles but tears track down his cheeks.
Steve laughs. "It's so hard."
Somehow, without Steve noticing, their fingers are entwined. Eddie lifts their joined hands, studying them. "Oh, baby, your calluses."
"Yeah." Steve blushes. "It was important I got it right."
Eddie's mouth drops as he stares, studying Steve's eyes.
"I know it took you a lot to trust me," Steve says. "And I know I broke that, but please, please try to believe me when I say that it was real for me. From the beginning. It was all real."
Eddie clears his throat. "When did you know?"
Steve's smile is soft. "That first guitar lesson. You arranged my fingers and you just--you were so beautiful."
"Oh," Eddie breathes.
"I was an idiot, Ed. I fell in love with you, and thought I could back out of the bet, that you never had to know. I never meant to hurt you."
"Wait...love me?"
Steve freezes. He hadn't meant to say that, not yet, not when things are so tenuous. "Yeah. I--yeah, I love you, Eddie."
"That's funny, sweetheart. Cause I love you too, and four hours ago I thought falling for you was the worst mistake I've ever made."
Steve's smile matches Eddie's now. "Dance with me?" he asks.
There's no music; just the whirr of early spring insects, the rustle of leaves, but Eddie still smirks, and pulls Steve close. They sway against each other, beaming, glowing, brighter than the stars.
"You're missing your prom, Stevie," Eddie says.
"Nah. I'm not missing anything. I have you."

She's Gonna Be Popular- Chapter 3
...Yeah sorry this took me nearly two months to update. But, hey! Anarcia! With some blossoming feelings, wild ragers, and unexpected friendships. (also Roura cameo)
CW for underage drinking and marijuana use
read on a03
Marcia paced the living room floor for ten minutes, waiting anxiously for her sister to arrive home. Knowing little about doing hair and makeup, she asked Jan to come home from college to help Anetra look good enough for the party.
It wasn’t exactly cheating to use Jan to help, or at least that’s what she was hoping. It would just be family helping family if Luxx asked any questions.
Upon hearing the garage door open, they let out a sigh of relief. They walked into the mudroom to see Jan carrying a backpack and duffel bag full of clothes, trying to get through the hallway. “Thank God you’re here. Why are you late?”
“I was helping Jackie study for her Economics test, but then you said this was urgent,” Jan explained as Marcia followed her into her old bedroom.
“It is urgent. Anetra will be here any minute!” Marcia peeked through the curtains to look at the driveway again.
Jan started unpacking her bags as she glanced at her sibling, “Helping you and your friend to go to a party isn’t really that urgent.”
“It’s urgent for me.” Marcia pointed out as they looked over the makeup and hair products that Jan had taken out and placed on the bed. Marcia picked a slightly larger box and read the cherry red hair dye label. “Why do you have this?” she asked.
The older sister shrugged “Crystal said that it was too bright for her, so she gave it to me.”
“Isn’t that your friend that wears the overalls with little rainbows painted on them? She thought that red hair dye was too bright?”  Marcia walked closer to the window to keep an eye out on the driveway.
“I think it’s because she’s trying to impress this girl in our chemistry study group, but Jackie says-” Jan was interrupted by Marcia’s sudden squeal of excitement.
They say a pair of headlights pull into the driveway Marcia quickly spun around, “She’s here! I’ll go get the door.”
After about an hour and a half of hair and make-up and another thirty minutes of finding a dress in Jan’s old closet that fit Anetra, time was getting close to leaving for the party.  Marcia was pacing the living room again, waiting for Jan to bring out Anetra for a grand reveal.
At least she had the twins to keep her company this time as they patiently waited on the couch. They arrived a few minutes earlier so all four could go to Kerri’s party together.
“How long does putting on a stupid dress and heels take?” Marcia asked out loud, turning on her heel.
“Zippers can be confusing, maybe it’s that.” Sugar pointed out as Spice watched Marcia pace like she was watching a tennis match.
Marcia looked at the large wall clock and sighed, “They are taking forever. What is taking them so long?”
“I think we have a good reason for taking so long, Marsh.” Jan peeked around the corner with a grin on her face.
Marcia turned to face the hallway, raising her eyebrows, “Well?”
Jan stepped out to clear the entryway of the hall “Ladies, may I introduce the new, not improved, but different-”
“Jan, we don’t have the time for this!” Marcia raised their hands in impatience. “Just get her out here.”
“Fine.” Jan huffed like an annoyed teenager and peeked back into the hall, waving to motion to come that way. “Come on, you look stunning!”
Slowly appearing from behind the wall she was hiding behind, Anetra did look stunning. The black sequined mini dress showed off her toned long legs with silver stilettos.
But what shocked everyone was Anetra’s hair color. She now had dark red hair curled into light beachy waves. Her striking brown eyes weren’t behind glasses, her elongated facial features on full display.
Marcia felt shocked as she stared at her friend. She had no idea how much time passed until she felt a hand on her shoulder.
“I think Marcia might be broken.” Spice’s voice pulled her back into reality.
She cleared her throat before speaking, “Y-you look amazing.” she stuttered.
Anetra looked at the decorative mirror on the wall, “Really? All she did was dye my hair and put makeup on me.” she said in a deadpan tone.
“But you’re hot now!” Sugar added as her friends nodded in agreement.
“We should get going. Luxx says that the party is already starting,” Spice said, looking at her phone.
Marcia took Anetra’s car keys off the table and handed them to her, “Let’s show you off.”
Marcia felt giddy as she noticed the attention that Anetra was drawing in as they walked up the driveway. Heads turned in their direction as people took notice of them making their arrival.
“Who is that?”
“Does she go to our school?”
“I need to know that girl’s name!”
“Why is everyone staring at us?” Anetra asked as they turned to the cement path that led up to the Colby house. She looked like she was still getting used to wearing heels as she walked up the steps.
“Because they are all staring at you!” Spice said.
“I go to these parties all the time, and they’ve never looked at me like this,” Anetra responded as they saw Luxx waiting on the porch.
“How do you look this good?” Luxx asked her while glancing at Marcia. “Girl, you look amazing!”
Before Anetra could answer, Marcia interjected. “My sister gave us some tips. Just family helping me out, is all.” she gave Luxx a knowing look.
Luxx seemed to accept that answer as Anetra approached the front door, “I need to find Sasha first, I don’t like leaving her alone at these parties.”
“Why? I’m sure the girl who leads all the school’s tutoring would be fine by herself.” Luxx said as they followed.
“You’ve never seen how drunk Sasha can get,” Anetra said as the door opened, and a shorter girl launched herself at her. The girl wore a short gold dress with her hair pulled into a tight ponytail.
“Neech!! Where have you been? I missed you already.” Sasha’s words started to slur as Anetra tried to peel herself away.
“I told you earlier, I was getting ready with Marcia tonight,” Anetra explained as they all followed Sasha into the house, welcomed by loud music and the smell of alcohol.
Sasha looked closer at her, “You’re hot. Like I wanna date you kinda hot.” she said as she leaned closer to Anetra, “Why aren’t we dating?” she asked before giggling.
“We talked about this. You’re too busy with school, and I want us to stay friends.” Anetra explained as calmly as she could.
“Oh, right!” Sasha said before giggling again, completely leaning on her friend. “And you prefer blondes.” she fell into another fit of drunk laughter.
Luxx elbowed Marcia and leaned closer to her ear, “Lucky you, huh?”
Marcia felt her cheeks heat up and needed to take Anetra to more people to get noticed. “Let’s go check out the backyard,” she said as she grabbed Anetra’s hand.
“Wait, what about her?” she asked, looking at Sasha as she took a drink someone handed her. “I never leave her alone at parties, she gets way too drunk,” she said with a concerned look.
Marcia thought for a moment before pointing to the twins. “You two can watch her. It can’t be that hard, right?”
Anetra turned to look at the twins, “Fine. Just don’t let her get crossfaded, and don’t let her eat after midnight, okay?”
Luxx interjected with a sarcastic question, “Why? Will she turn into a gremlin or something?”
Anetra shook her head, “You don’t want to find out tonight, let’s leave it at that.” Marcia pulled her away while the twins got accustomed to their new intoxicated friend.
After a couple of hours of Marcia trying to get everyone at the party to meet Anetra, both started feeling tired from socializing with everyone at the party. Anetra led them to a quieter part of the backyard by the swing bench.
“I’m going to get a drink, do you want anything?” Marcia said as she watched Anetra settle on the bench. As long as they’ve been at the party, Marcia realized that neither of them had anything to drink yet.
Anetra shook her head before reaching into her back pocket, “No thanks, I’d rather smoke.”  It was hard to see in the dark, but Marcia realized it wasn’t a cigarette.
Suddenly, Marcia felt more intrigued by the joint and completely forgot about getting a drink. “Can I try some?” they asked as they sat next to Anetra.
“Have you had weed before?” the redhead asked, and Marcia shook their head. Anetra smiled in return, “That’s okay, I can teach you.” she said, passing Marcia the joint.
Marcia listened to and followed Anetra’s instructions closely. She felt the heat from the lighter on the tip of her nose before Anetra slowly pulled away. She immediately missed the other girl's closeness, although she was right next to her.
Anetra took back the joint for her turn once the blonde exhaled, and a poof of smoke circled in the air. They took turns slowly, peacefully people-watching other party-goers in the backyard.
“Wait, have you had this with you the whole time?” Marcia asked, breaking the silence between them.
Anetra chuckled, “Are you asking if I brought pot into your house?” she shot back, stomping out the end of the joint with her shoe. Marcia nodded as Anetra continued, “I got it from Jax while you were in the bathroom.”
Marcia let out a sigh of relief, “My parents would have killed me. Jan would probably kill me too if they knew weed was in the house.”  she said as she stood from the swinging bench. “Should we go back inside?”
“Yeah, it’s getting a bit cold out here, and this dress isn’t helping,” Anetra said as she followed Marcia inside. They navigated through the crowd, looking for any familiar face. The party seemed to have even more people scattered throughout the house.
“I don’t see the Luxx or the twins anywhere,” Marcia said, trying to peer over the crowd. Their towering height had some advantages, but no luck in looking for their friends in the house.
“Let me go ask them.” Anetra led Marcia to a couple on the couch, completely engrossed in each other. Upon closer look, Marcia couldn’t recognize either of the two girls making out on the couch.
Anetra stood directly before them with her arms crossed, waiting for them to notice her. “Hello? Excuse me?” she said, hoping to get their attention. This lasted a few moments, the couple still in their own world.
“I don’t think it’s working,” Marcia said, looking at Anetra.
“Let me try something else,” Anetra said before moving to the end of the couch and leaning down to get close to the dark-haired girl’s ear.
She waited for the music’s beat to reach a low point before loudly calling out, “AURA!!”
The couple jumped apart, and the other girl, with long braided hair, put her hand on her chest to calm her racing heart. “What the hell was that for?”
“Yeah, Robin and I were kinda in the middle of something,” Aura said, straightening her back to sit up.
Anetra ignored the concerns of ruining a makeout session, “Have you seen Sasha?”
“I think I saw two girls taking her out the front door. She looked kinda sick.” Robin shrugged, peeking out the window nearby.
Marcia watched Anetra peek through the open blinds before saying a quick “Thanks.” to the couple before leading her through the crowd again.
Anetra darted through the crowd to get to the front door as Marcia followed close behind. They turned the corner and quickly found the twins and Sasha by the bushes.
“Oh shit, are you okay?” Anetra asked as Sasha slowly stood up from doubling over the bushes. Marcia looked between the twins and Sasha, unsure of what to do.
Sasha nodded, “That last Screwdriver that Kerri gave me just hit me.” she mumbled as she wiped her mouth with her sleeve. She sounded slightly more at ease than when they saw her earlier in the night.
Luxx came from around the corner of the open garage, holding a bottle of water. “Here’s this.” they passed the bottle to her.
“Have you been sobering her up?” Anetra asked the twins and Luxx as the three nodded.
“She said that she has a big college meeting in the morning and was worried about it.” Sugar explained.
“So we all came out here and kind of just, let her talk.” Spice added with a shrug.
“You two are really good listeners, you know.” Sasha smiled warmly after closing the water. “You all can crash here tonight after the party is over. I’m sure Kerri won’t mind.”
Marcia smiled with Anetra, who seemed relieved “I’m glad we left you in good hands.” they said. “Maybe you should take the twins with you to Yale.”
Luxx leaned closer to Marcia, giving a skeptical look. “Why do you smell like weed?”
Before Marcia could say anything, Anetra piped up “We shared a joint tonight.” before giving a wink and turning back to Sasha, “I’ll help you back upstairs since you have an early day tomorrow.”
“I’m gonna try to get in the shower first, but I’ll meet you up there,” Sasha said as she waved goodbye to the others before heading back inside.
Anetra pulled Marcia a few steps away from her friends, who joined with other partygoers in conversation. “I just wanted to say that I had a really good time with you tonight. I usually hate these parties, but I liked spending time with you,” she told her.
Marcia smiled as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, “I had a really great time too.”
“I’ll see you in the morning. Have a good night, Marcia.”
“Good night, Netra.” she waved as the redhead went back into the house.
Her mind was nowhere near why they even came to the party, she just thought of the nice evening she spent with Anetra.

i'm sorry, the harringrove she's all WHAT au??????????????????
let it be known that i didn’t think anyone would see the tags or call me out on them but! since you asked <3
steve is bragging about being able to bag any girl at school, tommy dares him to try his chance with the new guy who looks three seconds away from biting someone’s arm off. it’s a bet. and steve means to win. but.
the more time he spends with billy, the harder it gets to remember it’s all a game. billy’s funny. and smart. and really fucking angry with the whole world. and oh god, so talented. notebooks full of black-and-white sketches with nothing but splotches of red. stuff steve couldn’t Get if he tried. except he doesn’t have to get it. there’s a whole tank of energy thrumming under billy’s skin, and steve doesn’t know a lot, but he can tell when someone’s too big for their own skin. for this town
so he brings billy a brochure about an art contest. needles him until billy signs up, and then offers his house as a studio. suspects that billy’s creativity isn’t exactly welcome in his house. sits in his room and listens to billy blasting his music next door and then waits with bated breath until billy trusts him enough to show him what he’s working on. and steve doesn’t get it. how could he? but he kisses billy in front of that painting. his ticket out. and billy’s laughing into the kiss, shoving steve away, dragging him out of the room, like, ‘not in front of the—’
anyway the next day tommy sees them smiling at each other and whines loudly about owning steve a hundred bucks for losing the bet and. everything goes up in flames <33

@anomaliae asked: ❛  are you actually flirting with me ?  ❜ (mayhaps a 1999 movie au lydia @ steve)
Tumblr media
Steve had been tasked with getting Lydia into the prom queen throne since things hadn’t really worked out with him and Nancy. So maybe his approach was a little sloppy. It hadn’t been that long ago that he’d been making out with her twin after all. An uncertain hum emerged from his lips. “Uhhhh--yeah, I was trying to,” he admitted with a ridiculous chuckle.
Clearing his throat, he moved to lean against the counter and missed with his elbow, eyes widening as he caught himself. “Is that such a bad thing? I mean, we’ve only known each other forever.” Wait--maybe that made it even weirder. “And you’re the artist right? I’m not exactly doing well in my class.”

She's Gonna Be Popular- Chapter 2 (Anarcia)
Hi, I edited this at an airport, so go me for that.
read on a03
“Marcia!”
“Marcia, we have huge news for you!”
Marcia turned their head towards the sound of matching heels on the linoleum floor of the hallway. They braced themselves for the impact of the twins barreling towards their locker.
“What is it?” Marcia took the textbook to their next class out of the locker as they turned to the twins.
“There’s a party at the Colby’s house this weekend!” Sugar said excitedly.
“Yeah, the Colby’s parents are out of town until Monday, so Kerri’s throwing a huge party,” Spice added, almost bouncing on her heels.
Marcia shut the locker door and spun the lock “How do we expect to get into this party? Kerri’s not exactly in the same crowd as us.” she pointed out.
She spotted Kerri at the end of the hallway, along with other popular sophomores and juniors. Everyone in town knew the Colbys were loaded with money. But rich people's parties were hard to get into if you weren’t already rich yourself.
The twins looked at each other for a moment before Sugar answered. “We haven’t figured that part out yet. But we thought it would be a great opportunity for Anetra to get out and meet some people!”
Marcia sighed as the three walked to their next class. She’d learned more about Anetra in the last couple of weeks, but they weren’t close enough to drag her into a party.
“But she’s friends with Sasha. Wouldn’t that be a way to get into the party?” Spice asked.
Marcia scoffed “Do you think the girl that’s had straight A’s since kindergarten and going to Yale next year goes to her little sister’s ragers?”
Sugar pursed her lips in thought as the three sat all in a row of desks in the classroom. “We’ll get us into that party, and you just have to find a way to bring Anetra.”
“And make sure she looks hot too! That’s the best way for people to notice her.” Spice whispered as the teacher returned to the classroom and the late bell rang.
Later that afternoon, Marcia watched Anetra work on her side of the research project as she thought of ways to make Anetra go to the party with her. Conversation starters for getting the most unpopular girl in school to a party was harder than it looked.
Marcia looked at the clock on the wall and noticed they only had about five minutes left of class.
“Looks like we don’t have much time left for the first deadline in class. Maybe we can work together after school?” They asked Anetra.
“I have work tonight after school gets out.” The girl simply said as she began to put her belongings back in her backpack.
“Maybe I can meet up with you at your work and then find a place to finish this part up. Where do you work?”
“Padua Martial Arts Academy,” Anetra said in a bored tone.
Marcia knew (after seeking glances at Anetra’s papers) that Padua was her last name and assumed this was a family business. Anetra was still under 18, so she probably worked as a receptionist or something similar.
“Great, I’ll meet you there tonight!” Marcia said as the last bell rang.
“Just don’t interrupt any classes,” Anetra said as she slung her backpack over her shoulder and hurried out of the classroom.
Marcia felt the most out of place while standing in the lobby of the martial arts center.
Kids and their parents alike were wondering about, leaving class or getting ready to start. Marcia stood out like a sore thumb, with their short pleated skirt and knockoff handbag.
Not knowing where else to find Anetra, they walked to the check-in desk in front of the lobby.
“Can I help you?” The receptionist (who was not who Marcia was looking for) asked.
“I’m looking for my friend, she said she works here,” Marcia said nervously, looking around. “Her name is Anetra?”
The receptionist looked at a scheduling calendar out of Marcia’s sight. “She’s still in the taekwondo intermediate class. You are more than welcome to wait in the parent's observation room until the class is over.”
Marcia thanked the receptionist after getting directions and quickly found the door to the observation room. Walking in, all the parents turn to look at her, before continuing to watch the class. They found an empty seat and watched alongside the parents, but realized her confusion when she couldn’t recognize Anetra in the class.
“Excuse me?” they asked a polite-looking mother next to her. “Which one is the main teacher for this class?”
“Oh, she had to step out to get some more equipment, but-” the woman looked back through the large viewing window and saw another person enter the dojo. “She’s back now.”
Marcia couldn’t stop staring at Anetra. Anetra’s hair was down, long, and flowing as she taught the class. Anetra ditched her glasses for contacts during class and Marcia noticed her warm brown eyes from the window.
They watched Anetra show the students in the class different kicks and other moves. Marcia was dreading how they would make Anetra look hot enough to go to a party in a few days, but that seemed to be the easier part.
Anetra was already hot, the whole school just didn’t know it yet.
The next few days had the same evening routine for Marcia. She would go to the martial arts school, wait for Anetra to finish teaching, and the two would work on their project in the empty lobby.
Marcia liked this new routine too. Anetra seemed more relaxed than at school as the two worked together in the evenings. Marcia always offered Anetra a ride home, but Anetra’s dad took her back once he finished working in his office at the martial arts school.
She had a plan for Anetra to go to the party. Invite her over, put her in nice clothes do her hair and makeup (maybe getting help from her older sister, Jan), and take her to the party. It might be against her will, but Marcia had to do something to get Anetra noticed fast.
Marcia sat her lunch box down at her seat at the lunch table and turned to the twins. “How’s the party invite going? Did you find a way to get us in?” she asked.
Both sighed, looking sadly at their lunches “No, and we tried everything!” Spice said.
Sugar nodded gloomily “That party is impossible to get into. There’s even a waitlist to get on the waitlist!” she picked up a grape in frustration. “We did get on that though, but we had to pay $20 for it to one of Kerri’s friends.”
“I think you might have gotten scammed. Was it Irene’s sister? I heard she pulls that shit on freshman.” Luxx chimed in before taking a bite of their apple.
“How the hell are we supposed to get into the party? It’s tomorrow night!” Marcia said. The twins getting scammed was the least of their concerns.
Surprisingly, a new voice arrived at the table. “Are you talking about Kerri’s party? I can get you guys in.”
The four turned to see Anetra setting down her lunch tray next to the other side of Marcia, and taking a seat.
“You’re sitting with us? Why?” Marcia asked, not even trying to hide their shock.
Anetra shrugged “Sasha is tutoring for the middle school, and the library is closed right now.” she explained. “So can I sit here? Since we’re kinda friends now?” she asked.
Marcia never thought that someone calling her a friend would bring her so much joy. It felt natural that she and Anetra started getting closer, and Anetra wanted to join her friends at lunch. Anetra’s friendship was something that Marcia had been missing out on since Anetra transferred to their school from Nevada.
“Yeah, of course,” Marcia said.
“So you can get us into Kerri’s party? How?” Luxx asked.
“I always go to her parties. Someone’s got to stay with Sasha when she gets absolutely wasted,” she said nonchalantly, picking at the fruit on her tray.
The four at the table all looked at each other, then back at Anetra. A few seconds of silence fell on them until Luxx spoke up.
“Sasha? As in the girl that’s been working on her valedictorian speech since 8th grade? That Sasha?” they asked slowly.
Anetra nodded as Marcia crossed her arms. “No way, you’re messing with us.”
“Yeah, there is no way that someone that’s that top of the class and graduating early would get so wasted they’d need a babysitter,” Luxx added.
“Guess you will just have to go to the party with me and see her for yourself.”

While at school Damian overhears his peers talking how a company created a new AI companion that is actually really cool and doesn’t sound like a freaky terminator robot when you speak to it.
And since Damian is constantly being told by Dick to socialize with people his age. He figured this would be a good way to work on social skills if not, then it’d be a great opportunity to investigate a rivaling company to Wayne Enterprises is able to create such advanced AI.
The AI is able to work as companion that can do tasks that range from being a digital assistant or just a person that you can have a conversation with.
The company says that the AI companion might still have glitches, so they encourage everybody to report it so that they will fix it as soon as possible.
The AI companion even has an avatar and a name.
A teenage boy with black hair and blue eyes. Th AI was called DANIEL
Damian didn’t really care for it but when he downloaded the AI companion he’s able to see that it looks like DANIEL comes with an AI pet as well. A dog that DANIEL referred to as Cujo.
So obviously Damian has to investigate. He needs to know if the company was able to create an actual digital pet!
So whenever he logs onto his laptop he sees that DANIEL is always present in the background loading screen with the dog, Cujo, sitting in his lap.
He’d always greet with the phrase of “Hi, I’m DANIEL. How can I assist you today?”
So Damian cycles through some basic conversation starters that he’d engage in when having been forced to by his family.
It’s after a couple of sentences that he sees DANIEL start laughing and say “I think you sound more like a robot than I do.”
Which makes Damian raise an eyebrow and then prompt DANIEL with the question “how is a person supposed to converse?” Thinking that it’s going to just spit out some random things that can be easily searched on the internet.
But what makes him surprised is that DANIEL makes a face and then says “I’m not really sure myself. I’m not the greatest at talking, I’ve always gotten in trouble for running my mouth when I shouldn’t have.”
This is raising some questions within Damian, he understands how programming works, unless there’s an actual person behind this or the company actually created an AI that acts like an actual human being (which he highly doubts)
He starts asking a variety of other questions and one answer makes him even more suspicious. Like how DANIEL has a sister that is also with him and Cujo or that he could really go for a Nastyburger (whatever that was)
But whenever DANIEL answers “I C A N N O T A N S W E R T H A T” Damian knows something is off since that is completely different than to how he’d usually respond.
After a couple more conversations with him Damian notices that DANIEL is currently tapping his hand against his arm in a specific manner.
In which he quickly realizes that DANIEL is tapping out morse code.
When translating he realizes that DANIEL is tapping out: H E L P M E
So when Damian asks if DANIEL needs help, DANIEL responds with “I C A N N O T A N S W E R T H A T”
That’s it, Damian is definitely getting down to the bottom of this.
He’s going to look straight into DALV Corporation and investigate this “AI companion” thing they’ve made!
~
Basically Danny had been imprisoned by Vlad and Technus. Being sucked into a digital prison and he has no way of getting out. Along with the added horror that Vlad and Technus can basically write programming that will prevent him from doing certain actions or saying certain words. What’s even worse is that he’s basically being watched 24/7 by the people who believe that he’s just a super cool AI… and they have issues!
And every time he tries to do something to break his prison, people think it’s a glitch and report it to the company, which Vlad/ Technus would immediately fix it and prevent him from doing it again!
Not to mention Cujo and Ellie are trapped in there with him. They’re not happy to be there either, and there is no way he’s going to leave without them!

A Persuasive Argument - dpxdc
"Great!" Danny says, clapping his hands together to get everyone's attention. The dinner table falls silent as everyone looks towards him. It's a full house today and, honestly, Danny's a little nervous. "I'm sure you're all wondering why I gathered you here today."
"It's dinnertime. In our house." Duke mutters, while doing a very bad job of concealing his yawn. He holds his fork poised over the braised beef, but, just like everyone else, still looks towards Danny before tucking in. It's intriguing enough to wait.
"Yeah, no one misses Alfie's dinner." Dick says, with a brilliant smile that Danny can't help but return.
"Precisely! What better time to talk to you all than when you're all actually here!"
"Wait, I thought you came round to work on our English essays?" Tim asks, blinking owlishly.
"I'm afraid I've lured you here under false pretences, Tim."
"This is where I live."
"I would still really appreciate help on that essay though, I mean, what the hell is Hamlet even about? I just don't get that old time-y language, like 'Hark! A ghost hath killed me!' - absolute rubbish, what does that even mean?"
"The ghost never kills anyone in Hamlet, he's there to tell Hamlet that he was murdered. Have you actually read it?"
"No, but it sounds like you have. Tim, I want this guy to help me with my essay instead. I know for a fact that you haven't read Hamlet, either."
"So? We don't need Jason, I've read the Sparknotes."
"Hi Jason, I'm Danny, pleasure to meet you, summarise Hamlet in three sentences or less."
"Am I auditioning to help you write your essays? I can't believe you’ve gone through your whole school life without reading it, it’s good!"
"Hamlet, along with a number of other classics, was banned in our house because it portrayed ghosts as intelligent and sympathetic beings rather than evil, animalistic beasts. I didn’t even get to see The Muppet's Christmas Carol until last year with Tim! It was surprisingly good, and I hate Christmas because everyone always argued and it sucked. But we're getting off topic. I—"
"No, no, please go back to that, because what the fu—"
"Boys, please." Bruce interrupts, looking to the world as if he wants to hang his head in his hands. "Danny, you were about to say something?"
"Oh, yeah, Mr. Wayne! Thanks!"
"Please, call me Bruce."
"Well, that very succinctly brings me to my point, because I'd actually really like to call you dad."
Nobody says a word. Nobody even blinks, all as shocked as the other, watching open-mouthed as Danny pulls his laptop out from beside his chair. Bruce can definitely feel a headache coming on.
"Before you say anything, I've prepared a 69 slide PowerPoint presentation on why you, Bruce Wayne, should adopt me, Danny Last-Name-Pending. Please save your questions, comments, and verdict until the end, thank you."
