🍭🍭THE SHIP BABY DIRECTORY!🍭🍭
The products of Maria's various ships on this blog! Some babies are canon, some are not, and some are more prominent than others (and this list will inevitably grow sigh), but I love all of them!
I'll keep it basic so it won't be a novel, but you can ask about them if you want!
CLARA (the OG)
Father: Maria's Unnamed Ex-Husband (Prosecutor!Verse), Leo (FE!Verse (when she's married to Leo), KNY!Verse)
Stepfather: Simon (@risingshine )
((I won't rehash her bio and personality since she has a page already! Go check it out~))
SANTANA GAVIN
Father: Klavier (@legalbrats)
Bio: Maria and Klavier's oldest child. She caused quite a stir among Gavinners fans when she was born. She's played the guitar and volleyball since she was a young child. How does a teenager rebel against parents as over-the-top as Maria and Klavier? By being as basic as possible. Santana went to great lengths to fit in as much as she could, which caused her parents great distress. In her spare time, she composes and posts songs on social media.
Personality: Santana is kind, sunny, and strong-willed. She is protective of her siblings and likes having lots of friends. Like her parents, she can be dramatic when bad things happen, and very flirty.
Physical Appearance: Blonde hair. A lovely smile. Powerful legs.
NYX GAVIN
Father: Klavier (@legalbrats)
Bio: The second child of three, unlike her sister, she tries hard to stand out. She sings very well, and as she gets older, she becomes interested in charity work. Is known for making nasty faces at paparazzi. She often wonders if she should go into law, too.
Personality: Nyx likes to appear tough, but she is actually a big baby. She'll say "whatever" and then cry to her parents later. She is compassionate and artistic, and a little mischievous.
Physical Appearance: Her ears stick out a bit. Colored highlights. Likes leather jackets.
RICK JAMES "RJ" GAVIN
Father: Klavier (@legalbrats)
Bio: The youngest, and the only boy. He and his sisters are very close. He tagged along to one of Santana's ballet lessons when he was small and he loved it. He danced until middle school, where he was picked on for it. In college, he rediscovered his love for dance and continued. He wants to be a movie star, too.
Personality: He's passionate and confident, but he can be arrogant and shallow. In terms of self-improvement, he's unstoppable. When his ego is bruised, though, he'll spiral until someone reassures him.
Physical Appearance: Klavier's clone. He works out a lot. Has dimples.
KIRAGI
Father: Takumi (@fjinyumi )
Bio: Maria and Takumi's long-awaited son, who was placed in a Deeprealm(a pocket dimension) when he was nearly kidnapped as a baby. He reunited with his parents during the war, and he enjoys hunting, where he can put his incredible eyesight to good use. Although he is a prince, he dislikes fancy clothes and prefers that people speak casually to him.
Personality: He's friendly and fun-loving and doesn't sweat the small stuff. He can be stubborn and very messy, though. Like biohazard messy. He often puts hunting before his studies.
Physical Appearance: Here he is!
SHOUKO KANEDA
Father: Kaneda (@sayonaradumbass)
Bio: Born in a timeline where Tetsuo did not get up to his Tetsuo business, and to the sheer horror of Maria's father. Her mom is a prosecutor turned fashion consultant and her dad owns a bike garage. Since her mother works crazy hours, she is often in the care of Kaneda, who is definitely the more lax parent. When she gets older, she becomes a punk, and Maria absolutely cannot stand it.
Personality: Shouko is outgoing and curious and a bit of a showoff. She loves to talk to new people. She goes to private school but she can be hood af and is not afraid to stomp somebody, which often gets her in trouble.
Physical Appearance: Fluffy eyebrows. Poofy cheeks. Her hair started out light but darkened as she got older.

Miraculous LadyBug Movie and Why I don't Like it
Alright instead of me stalling let’s get right into why I don’t like the Miraculous ladybug movie.
Warning Spoilers ahead!!!!
First let’s start with the obivious that they didn’t let ladybug’s VA sing and instead found someone else to sing for her. Shouldn’t have done that especially when she has a good and wonderful voice.
Second, let’s talk about the songs but also the way the movie was set up. Starting off with song one. The song wasn’t bad and that’s not my problem with the song. My problem with the song has to do with the structure of the movie. The move is supposed to be an origin story for both ladybug and chat noir, but it seems we only get ladybug character development. The song started right by letting us in on ladybug’s character, but it should have jumped to Adrien so we can see what his issue is, but nope all we get is a small scene of him with a cat and suddenly he’s the playful and pun loving chat noir that we all know and love.
That is one of my main issues with the movie (and show) is the fact that we do not get enough character development with Adrien. I am so glad we have that scene. You know the one, the one where Adrien finally stands up to his father, because I’m sorry if everyone likes this Gabriel the facts remain that no matter how much he loves his son he still neglected him. It’s like the show will not let Adrien feel anything unless it’s to do with his feelings for Marinette or ladybug. My proof in this is the two songs that he’s in, in the movie. The first one is fully about his feelings, while the second one ends in him confessing his feelings to ladybug.
It seems to me that the only other time we fully touch on Adrien and his problems with his father is the Christmas special.
Issue two I have with the movie is that to me it doesn’t follow the rules of the universe. So the ending fight between bug, chat, and hawk Chat uses his major power, his cataclysm, but he also uses it again without plagg turning him back and getting a food break. This is just one of the examples I could find, but while I watched the movie I’m pretty confident that I saw more.
Issue three, the orgin story moive does not follow the canon. I know this show goes through a lot, but I expected an orgin story to follow canon. Ladybug and chat noir are not supposed to know who each other are, yet ladybug finds out and at the end and then shows who she is to chat noir or Adrien.
Issue four, if you are not going to follow canon then comit! Do not let them reveal to each other and then cop out on the ending kiss!!! Some of us have been waiting for this for years!!!! But no we can’t have them kiss on screen when they finally know the full truth of each other!
Issue four, How can Hawkmoth just use telekneiss on ladybug’s miraculous? Like I might be an idiot, but that is fully what looked like had happened in the movie.
This is a preference but I hated the ending fight between Hawkmoth and our heroes. I hated it with every fiber in my being. Since it does not follow canon I just can’t accept that this is what happens for their origin story.  It makes me so mad that Hawk moth just stops everything because he learns that chat noir is his son? I just don’t belive that. Maybe it could happen because he’s not so in deep yet, but it’s just not good to me.
Issue five, Marinette having feeling for chat noir. We all know it happens eventually (season five I’m looking at you) but in the show she can barely get a word out to Adrien because she likes him so much. She doesn’t seem to struggle as much in the movie.
How I personally think the movie should have gone is a lot simpler. Keep the musical, it was a really good idea. Let Marinette’s og VA sing for her. Give Adrien some background and let him and Marinette sing back and forth in the opening song so we can see what’s happening on both sides. Have marientte still feel unsure of himself, but also give Adrien a struggle of accepting Plagg and becoming chat noir. Keep Marinette’s duet with Tikki, but Give Adrien and Plagg their own song.
You can keep their partner song if you take out the verse of Marinette falling for Adrien. Have the moive show them both overcoming their struggles and this big battle be them accepting the change they have gone through and then the show can easily pick up on season 1 episode 1.
Show us a more detailed story of Gabriel and Emille. Either give him a song of singing about her, or a backstory duet of the both of them, but remember this is a Gabriel song, not a Hawkmoth song. Keep his song as Hawkmoth because it is really good.
The final battle should have a song as well, of the two finally accepting what they are changing into and how it’s making them better people, along with them maybe fully learning how to fix the mess hawkmoth created (the ending of the movie did this really great, but if you’re going to make a musical then commit!)
Last give an ending song, about how the story isn’t over but it’s just beginning. A good example of this would be The Last Day of Summer from the Percy Jackson Musical. That is a good song that tells you that the story is over for now, but it will continue again in the future.
If you don’t like the musical idea then guess what you can stick with the same concept without the songs! Main thing is making it to where you know the movie can pick up on S1 Ep1 while giving Adrien some actual character development!
Their’s a lot more that I very much dislike about the movie, but unless I put myself through a rewatch of it right away, I’m not going to be able to remember them all. Let me tell you something I liked about the movie.
I loved the animation and thought that it was really good. You can tell that they were given a better budget for the movie and I hope they keep it for the show. If they don’t keep it for the show then maybe the specials they keep releasing on Disney +
I loved Marinette’s character at the beginning and showing how she truly had to go through a few motions to get where she is. I like how at first she wasn’t able to stand up for chole but then she gained the confidence to talk back to her.
I love the songs. I thought that they were all great and gave us awesome visuals, like I said I just think the show is giving Marinette special treatment because she is the main character. Chat noir is not her sidekick he is her partner and thus deserves to have plenty of screen time as well.
Last thing I really like is something I already mentioned, it’s how Adrien stood up to his father. Sorry that I didn’t like many things, but I keep getting my hopes up for this show even when I know I shouldn’t and then things like this happen.

OO if you have a min I'd love to know your opinions regarding the other live action remakes? Personally I actually quite liked beasts live action design and the cinderella dress! (tho i do wish it wasn't blue)
Ok, so since there's a lot of remakes, I'll go through them super quickly or else this will be a VERY long post, so hold on to your hats!
Cinderella (2015)
While the Cinderella remake was a visually pleasing film (seriously, the costumers and overall aesthetic and look of everything was such a joy to look at) it did not fix my main issue, which is with the main character whom has no personality outside of her actual story line. An interesting story does not make for an interesting character. And for the people saying they DID "fix" Cinderella in the remake, I will ask you to watch this video, or specifically from 17:24 to 22:11 where NC points out every single issue I have with the remake Cinderella in comparison to OG Cinderella.
youtube
The Jungle Book (2016)
I overall enjoyed the movie for what it was, I find it very awe-inspiring with its just one actual actor - who is honestly really good considering he's acting off of NOTHING basically - and not amazing effects, but good enough. However, it has three big changes that I heavily dislike which is the beginning, the third act breakup and the ending.
Why oh why would you NOT use the story's original beginning? It does everything a beginning should: it introduces you to its characters, their relationships and the way the world works while also making you connect with them almost immediately. Why the ever loving HELL did they switch that out with an overused trope with a basic ass fakeout that, instead of showing you, it TELLS YOU how it all happened. There is absolutely no reason for it and it's lazy.
Third-act breakups are also extremely lazy, and more often than not make no sense or makes the character look like idiots. Having Baloo lie to Mowgli about not actually seeing him as a friend to make him want to go to the village to get away from Shere Khan is the dumbest fucking thing cause he could just, you know, TELL HIM THE TRUTH. Mowgli in the remake, at this point, has already MET Shere Khan, he KNOWS how dangeorus he is. There is NO REASON for Baloo to lie to Mowgli. None whatsoever.
And the ending... what the actual living hell is the message of the story when Mowgli STAYS in the jungle??? Original message is that sometimes you can't stay where you want to be in order to grow as a person, and you have to make sacrifices for the greater good and go where you can evolve. By having Mowgli stay in the jungle, its audience learns nothing and Mowgli doesn't develop as a character. He literally just stays where he already was, only difference is he now has a bear friend.
Sidenote: WTF did they do to Kaa...
Beauty and the Beast (2017)
It's gonna be easier to just bullet point this one:
Love most of the new songs
Emma Watson can't sing, why the fuck can't she sing, hire someone who can sing if they're gonna sing, I can't believe that has to be said
Their attempt at explaining plot holes in the OG just creates new plot holes
Despite the movie being longer, Belle and the Beast has LESS chemistry and what are important scenes for them are shortened and replaced by new scenes that DO NOT give them as much chemistry as the OG
The Beast is hot, I don't care what anyone says
This is an unpopular opinion, but I liked Belle's dress solely because it looks more like a dress a girl like Belle would choose for herself. Is it boring as sin though in comparison to the OG one, though? Yes
I do like that Gaston is a bit more fleshed-out, he almost convinced me he liked Belle's personality as well just a bit, and not just her looks
HOW do you have Belle's dad talk about her mother, just after Belle says the other townsfolk think she's odd, and NOT have him tell her that her mom was odd as well??? That scene could have melted my cold, cynical heart and instead they go with "fearless" - fuck off
I have more, but it'll get too long.
Aladdin (2019)
Aladdin can't act or sing worth shit, how the HELL is it a theme that some of the Disney remake actors can't act or sing sometimes? Not gonna lie, I didn't realize how poor his singing was until A Whole New World and he had to sing with Naomi Scott and my jaw legit dropped because I realized how horrible he sounded by comparison. He also shows ZERO remorse that he has to go back on his promise to Genie about using his final wish to set him free, hell he even looks smug about it. What the ever loving hell is that about?
Also... jam. Never thought I'd hate jam.
The Lion King (2019)
This remake is the only one I've hated so much that I actually sat down and made a video about it on my Ayla Sky YouTube channel. Imma have to refer you to that cause I can't possibly condense all of my hatred in a short tumblr post.
youtube
Lady and the Tramp (2019)
I actually think this one was fine. Nothing really pissed me off and it's an overall nice movie. It was very inoffensive. It's nothing spectacular, but it's probably the least blood-boiling remake ever.
Mulan (2020)
... *sigh*
Mulan doesn't work hard to become a good soldier, she's just born cool cause she got chi
Team claims they wanted to make it more adult and therefore removed Mushu and the songs and made it more realistic and yet they add a SHAPE-SHIFTING WITCH
Mulan has no feelings or thoughts at any point whatsoever
THE TRAILER TRICKED ME
The way the villain dies is still one of my favorite, corny, over the top deaths I've ever seen. I legit got a stomach ache from laughing so hard
youtube
That's the last one of the bigger remakes I've seen. I've watched the Maleficent movies, Cruella, Alice in Wonderland movies and also the old 101 and 102 Dalmatian remakes from the late 90s and early 2000s, but they're not quite in the same group as these ones in the same way. But if you want to hear my thoughts on these two, let me know and I'll share!
I haven't watched Dumbo, Pinocchio, Peter Pan & Wendy nor The Little Mermaid yet so I have no opinions on those right now except I am cautiously optimistic about TLM :)

i just watched the mlb movie and i have THINGS to say. this is gonna be veeery rambly so pardon in advance.
Also be warned, this contains spoilers (not to much in the first part, but at the bottom) (long post so i'm cutting it)
First things first!! I absolutely loved the animation, it's really good and the backgrounds and settings felt so real and alive! (and there are actual people walking the streets of Paris A WIN!) Plus the characters felt, again, so alive and realistic! They're all pretty, and I love the expressions they make, they're not overly exaggerated like in the series and I think it just fits better with the story and visuals in this case. I HAVE to mention Chloè, my girl was looking so pretty and gorgeous, like i'm sorry that's my child i will love her forever and i don't care they discarded her redemption arc, she has one IN MY HEART you cannot change my mind!! and i appreciated Sabrina a lot more, that too, she's kinda nice.
Marinette was actually just awkward and clumsy without being borderline a stalker and i love her so much, i really really like this Marinette, she's nice and sweet and has actual development and growth that feels realistic.
Adrien was even more different than his show counterpart but honestly? he's such a lovable boy here too! it felt like they were trying to incorporate more of his chatnoir-esque sides into the og Adrien, and i think it balances perfectly.
I really ADORED how they managed the dynamic between Ladybug and Chatnoir, it was cute, fun and full of tension, I wish we could've seen more of them being kind of frenemies in the show, it really builds up their relationship better and who doesn't love rivals to lovers?
The Adrienette dynamic was cute too, i feel like Marinette being less "crazy" was the best choice to push their relationship forward without making it look forced or rushed. Very very nice!!!
As for Plagg and Tikki i don't really know how I feel about them? Like Plagg was barely in the movie and he didn't do much other than eating, farting and complaining he was hungry (seriously, movie?). I don't want to say he's completely different from show Plagg, but I feel like they didn't do him justice. Tikki, well, I liked her. Definitely less sensible than show Tikki, but I still think it makes sense for her to be a little reckless, she's literally the kwami of creation, she probably thinks she can fix anything if it goes wrong (and that would also be kinda right, sooo).
I actually also liked Gabriel for a change, too. It reminded my of early seasons Gabriel, with all his humanity and just wanting his wife back, and not just the villain who's evil just for the sake of evilness. They brought him back as a three-dimensional with a purpose and regrets. I truly believe this is what Gabriel should've always been.
I am very confused about Emilie's body being there, i thought the movie was a one-shot, but it feels like this is a tie for a sequel maybe?
Also i was wondering why Marinette never used her lucky charm in the beginning only to realize she doesn't have that power here LMAO
NOW TO THE JUICY PART
SO
THE LOVE SQUARE WAS RESOLVED
I couldn't believe my eyes, I was in SHOCK when i realized Marinette saw Chatnoir without his mask and heard him call Gabriel dad and I literally thought nothing was gonna come out of it because it felt impossible BUT THEN she goes and calls his Chatnoir during the ball and reveals herself and I really didn't think we were gonna make it this far tbh adskdsdfh i was squealing and just rejoycing.
Then they still robbed me of the kiss. WHY MUST I ALWAYS SUFFER AT THE HAND OF THIS SHOW WHY
Overall I LOVED the movie, the only thing i didn't really like was the songs. Don't get me wrong, they're good songs and i actually really like some of them, but it just felt like there were way too many and interrupted the flow of the show in awkward places. So it's a meh, I think the movie could've done with less songs, but it still was very enjoyable, and as I said I very much liked it.

Note
I understand your frustration with the movies and how much they skip over, but you have to look at this from the production and financial side. Each new film lives or dies based on the last movie's success. They don't know if this movie will be the last, so they got to speed things along and hit the high points so the popular characters have their chance on the screen. And to continue to draw viewers and fill seats.
Movie 1 was about Sonic, the poster boy for the franchise and the most well-known, to draw in people and fill seats so the next film could be greenlit. Movie 2 was on Tails and Knuckles, the number two in popularity to draw in people and fill seats so the next film could be greenlit. And the same song and dance are happening for 3. Shadow is an extremely popular character; the focus is to draw in people and fill seats. (so the next movie could be greenlit if they plan on it, but we don't know about that.)
Tikal and Chaos could draw many people, but Shadow will attract a lot more, and you know it. So, this gives them the highest likely hood of the movie being a success.
And think about it. If movie three does well, we may get a fourth movie or even a series, and THEN they can do Tikal and Chaos story. But if they did Tikal and Chaos NOW and it doesn't draw enough people, that's the end of Sonics cinematic career, and Shadow would never get to the big screen.
Would you rather see Tikal/Chaos and NOT see Shadow? Or the other way around? You may prefer the former, but many more people want the latter. Shadow is a much bigger name and will fill a lot more seats in a theater.
1) they can still space out the movies and characters without wiping out everything that makes sonic sonic. the first movie did NOT have to only have sonic in it. tails is a beloved character and usually when people think of sonic, they think of sonic and tails. my mother doesn’t even like sonic and doesn’t know anything about it but even she was disappointed that the first movie didn’t have tails in it. there was no reason to make it only have sonic when they could have easily centered the movie around eggman, sonic, and tails. i could give you a movie idea right now.
2) metal sonic & amy ARE popular characters. Amy’s literally a core character to the series. she was in sonic frontiers. if you move from the movies to the games, you wouldn’t know who she is even though she’s one of Sonic’s longest and closest friends. she’s important to the series. and metal sonic was in the fucking ova. he’s the og sonic rival other than knuckles. they should have appeared before shadow. amy and metal sonic would have been enough to draw people in.
3) but okay, fine. sonic cd might not be enough. they still could have done an sa1 adaptation. the perfect chaos boss fight would have absolutely interested people into watching it. it’s badass. it makes sonic look serious and not just a kiddie series. it would draw in older audiences who liked the games. it’s one of the most important sonic games in popularity and lore. they could have definitely used that as a stepping stone to introduce Amy’s character. she has an interesting and influential role in that game. if she couldn’t be introduced in cd then she should have been introduced in sa1.
an sa2 adaptation without having properly established amy in it feels at best misguided and at worst down right malicious. sexist. confirming shadow before amy is still a dick move even if shadows more popular.
4) if they want to make future movies, they shouldn’t be jumping the gun on shadow so fast. they should have BUILT to that. people do like shadow, he’s a very popular character. but they jumped way too fast on him. they only have three sonic characters in the series (sonic, tails, knuckles). they definitely could have established a few more before roping shadow into it. like, how do you backtrack and bring metal sonic back into the series after introducing the “ultimate lifeform”. shadows a very popular character but sa2 is a HUGE story to adapt and they won’t be able to give Amy justice if they cram her in there. it’s not fair to her. shadows literally just a cash grab and that’s simply not fair, and it’s simply wasting his potential.
5) they likely won’t do a sonic adventure adaptation. they are playing very fast and loose with the sonic lore, to what i think is their own detriment. longclaw already played the part of perfect chaos by wiping out Knuckles’s clan. they honestly don’t have a reason to go back and do an sa1 adaptation. and if they do, i honestly don’t think it would be good. it wouldn’t be necessary.
6) undoubtedly i would prefer chaos and tikal to a rushed, bad skip to shadow’s story where amy still isn’t even confirmed for the movie.
7) if you disagree with me you literally don’t have to interact with me

my one problem with Animaniacs.
this includes the OG 1993 version and the 2020 reboot (not including Wakko's Wish as I have not seen it.) disclaimer people are entitled to their own opinions.
Animaniacs basically Shuns Wakko. especially in the reboot as well in the subject of solo songs, I took it upon myself to count how many each Warner sib has (both reboot and original) my criteria are: - most of the lyrics are sung by one Character -other characters only provide background vocals. -great Wakkorotti segments don't count and here are my results: Yakko: 13 (6 in the OG, and seven in the reboot) Wakko: 3 (two in OG, and one in the reboot) Dot: 6 (two in the OG, and four in the reboot) (I am not counting the Spirit songs from the X-mas episodes as I group them together when thinking of them as they are so short)
and together they have around 16 (again I may be wrong) so in my research, it shows that Yakko has the most songs (I'm not complaining they are some of my favorites in the whole show) and though Dot only has 6 she still has more than Wakko, as for Wakko they are so underused, they have an AMAZING voice, their voice is literally a parody of one of the beetles, in my favorite song (Magna Cartoon from S2 of the reboot) it really shows off Wakko's vocal possibilities. and it gets nowhere, they only get one song, and it's in Season two. I waited a whole season for their solo and it was Mid at best, I hate to say that but to me, it wasn't the best, they have so much more potential and I really wish they would get more opportunities in Season three (let's face I don't think it's prob not going to happen),
now leaving the topic of songs: it is no secret that I love Wakko Warner (they are literally my pfp) In the OG series, they were a little slow but were also shown to be really smart, (like, you have to be pretty smart to list off the US states and their capitals off the top of your head) but in the reboot they are just So dumb, they have no "hey this character is actually pretty smart but just a little slow". like in the Buns episode: Wakko for some apparent reason assumes the sketch is a metaphor for shoes, when Yakko responds with something along the lines of: "that's right Wakko, cause America has to much high capacity shoe violence" sidenote, I am not the biggest fan of how Yakko reacted in this scene, he is normally so patiant with his sibs, but here he is being too snarkey, I would normally expect this to be a rebuttle to Scratchy.
back to my point: in the reboot, all the characters lack. especially, Dot, she pulls something I like to call a "Movie Hermionie Granger" so basically taking all of her flaws and throwing them away. and adding other characters traits (like Hermionie getting all of Ron's best lines.)
but this isn't about Dot.
Imma finish here.

slaughter race, chapter 1 part 1
Cara
Somewhere in the background a song by 'Three Days Grace' is playing. The lead singer is screaming "RIOT" as Cara James grabs the ratchet she is using to tighten a stubborn socket into place. She's humming along to the lyrics, the flashlight stuck in her mouth making it hard to understand what she's saying but she doesn't care.
Especially on Friday nights when she gets to be out however long she wants as she races in her black 1993 Nissan. It's a sight to behold with its bright blue lights that line the bottom of her baby. The rims which were once black painted a dark purple.
Once Cara is done tightening the last socket that holds the starter in place, she unhooks the hood strut and slams the piece of metal down. She tries to as hard and gently as she can because the fucking beauty of a vehicle is as old as dirt.
The grandma of a gift was from her father, given to her just before he was busted for selling hardcore drugs. He's been in prison ever since. Her mother was lucky enough to escape before the cops could cuff her too.
Her favorite factory default ringtone starts to ring in the back of her jeans. With a sigh, she takes the light out of her mouth, turns off her music, and pulls out her black -filled with more scratches than a old child's movie disc- flip phone. A toothy grin spreads on her face when she recognizes the caller ID
"Hange!" Cara bellows into the mic when she flips it open with a snap.
"Fireheart!" They scream back "Are you gonna be out there tonight? I know Erwin is, with seaside, they might try and recruit you again."
The mention of his name makes her want to drive into a brick wall. She doesn't bother saying that out loud though.
"I'm definitely going, but I'm not joining his scurvy crew of clams." A fit of cackling comes over the receiver.
"Great I have someone I want you to meet," that makes her stomach drop. They always had someone they wanted Cara to meet or go out with. And after what happened with her and Erwin she's not ready for a new relationship.
"Hange I don't thi-"
"You don't have to talk to him!" They interrupted "he's an ass anyways, just give him a look! Please it's either him or me tonight sooo"
Cara gags at the concept of her and them together. In bed.
"Ya, that's what I thought," they say over a voice that tells her to hurry the hell up. She can't pinpoint who it is but guesses it's the guy she'll be meeting. "Look I got to go, I'll meet you there ya?"
"Mhm sure," she says as she walks to the blue tarp that's laying at the back of the car.
Once Cara hears the click of the line going dead she puts her phone away and picks up the tarp before throwing it over her black beauty. Because the trashy trailer park she calls home has nosy fucks that like nothing but shiny shit that they can sell for a bag of dust. Now that her only prize possession is hidden from the world. She walks into her tanned colored, single wide to wash off the black oil that still covers her hands.
Afterward, Cara tiptoes to her mother who is laying on the couch probably dead. She bends down and places two fingers on the unconscious woman's neck to make sure a heartbeat is still there. One is and Cara sighs in relief.
Sex on fire by Kings of Leon is blearing through Cara's bass speakers when she pulls into the designated parking lot. It's packed with other sports cars with great paint jobs and neon lights. She turns her radio off and rolls down both driver and passenger side windows and scopes out who is all here for the show.
Cara slowly Cruzes by other parked cars that shout and cheer when they recognize the anime stickers that deck out the sides of her car. most of them being Tokyo ghouls. She parks her beauty next to a bright pink honda Civic that has its trunk open. A huge speaker in the back is playing an OG Chris brown song.
She steps out and immediately spots the Seaside crew, they are a little ways to her left. From the looks of it, the whole group is there with their leader Erwin smith or better known at these events as The Commander. Her stomach drops when she spies the tuffs of blond hair. Before he catches her gaze she looks away to try and find Hange, who should be here by now.
Just a little bit longer, then she'll get paid and she can leave all those clam fucks in the dust.

Started watching Paripi Koumei/Ya Boy! Kongming and it's very chill and fun!!
Everyone is a normal person with reasonable thoughts and opinions and Kongming is here like "I will dedicate myself body and soul to you. Your word is my command. Only speak the word, and i will make it happen"
very down-to-earth look at the music industry
basically a Fate game but the Master and Servant are just chilling and trying to climb the charts instead
Kongming occasionnally having sad emotional "ive lost everyone ive ever known" thoughts and im sad too
The man-out-of-time trope works great because everyone reacting to Kongming goes "this is clearly a autistic man with a very specific hyperfixation, but that's none of my business"
Kongming: "I may have died a thousand years ago but manipulating people is still the same"
the heroine's backstory is that she had depression and idk i like that
representation for when you hear a random song and project your current emotions on it and then become obsessed
General theme of "Even the small, good things are important"

disney: we heard there was a vampire renaissance going on and we wanted to capitalize on it, so here's a morbius
tumblr: absolutely not. We would rather read the actual OG dracula book. In fact, we'll create the world's largest book club and do just that

My #1 post of 2022
underrated dynamic of spy x family is that Loid has no idea about his own emotions, at all. They formed their little family and
Yor was immediately delighted with Anya and was ready to kill for this new adorable daughter, and anytime Loid does anything she blushes and is super impressed, and she wants to impress him, and
Anya loves her papa and mama very much (it's free family real estate!) and is the only one who really understands that they are a family
meanwhile Loid still believes he's doing all this for the mission. Dude almost maimed a teacher (and risked ruining the mission!) for making Anya cry and has on several occasions talked back to someone for bad-talking Yor and he's still like: "Hm, wonder why i did that"

I haven’t been in the star trek fandom for very long (I’ve only just started binging the series in the last couple months), so it’s been pretty surprising to find out just how negative the perception of the reboot movies are.
this isn’t coming from the perspective of someone who grew up with the series, so it hit different for me than it might for people with a different relationship to TOS, but I thought it was genuinely clever and Respectful with how it was handled.
To quote leonard nimoy: “Well the alternative timeline gives them license to escape from canon concerns. I can’t see people saying ‘they shouldn’t do that because…’ or ‘that doesn’t tie in to such and such’ because it is a different time and place. Am I right about that?” [Link]
the entire Premise is that the original series happened as it was presented in TOS, but an event late in Spock’s life caused the creation of a parallel universe in which everyone’s lives were significantly altered through two key changes to the timeline. this gives them the freedom to Both revel in fanservice And explore different facets of the characters and their relationships.
the destruction of vulcan Vastly impacts the characters and the plot moving forward, and its a detail that a lot of people take issue with. but the emotional impact of sarek admitting Directly to spock that there is value in his humanity, that his feelings Aren’t wrong, that sarek married amanda because he Loved her cannot be understated. you can read all of these things into sarek as he was in the original series, but he Never had an open conversation about these things with spock. this creates a Believable and Rewarding change in their relationship, where we get to see a different facet of them Because of the changes made. and that’s exactly the appeal. showing us pieces of these characters that we never got in TOS that are nevertheless undeniably Them.
everyone is Different yes, but they’re also fundamentally the same people at their core and that matters.
kirk’s personality obviously takes the biggest change, with him experiencing trauma at a young age, losing his father, and having an implied abusive father figure after that point. he has a harsher personality in reaction to harsher conditions, he’s spikier and harder to love. but he’s also still fundamentally a Good person whose willing to risk everything to help people. he still has what made kirk prime a good captain and a good friend.
I’m not gonna say that it’s the most nuanced story in the world, but it explores a version of kirk that was born from even Less fortunate circumstances than kirk prime, exploring a kirk brimming with potential who learned to bite back after he was kicked down. exploring those themes of trauma and loss, of insecurity and growth, and coming to the conclusion that Fundamentally He Is Capable Of Good isn’t a Bad thing. you don’t have to like it, but his growth into a better person is The Point. they deepened his flaws (all of which were present in a less exaggerated form in TOS) To Show That Growth.
and then of course there’s his relationship with spock.
people are totally justified in not liking that they had a rough start to their relationship, I usually don’t like to see that kind of thing in reboots or hollywood adaptations either, but the way people talk about it is just unfair.
Yes kirk and spock and bones have a very strong relationship in TOS, they also already know each other by the time the show starts. to look at them having to learn to get to know and trust each other when they first meet and say that it’s Bad because they were already full on ride or die for each other in the og series is silly. TOS kirk and spock had to meet and fall in love with each other too, it didn’t just happen over night kings.
secondly, the entire point of the first movie is that Even With reality itself being altered to pull them apart they are fundamentally compatible people that are Bound to each other. they meet each other on bad terms because of circumstances outside of their control, and yet they’re still pulled into each other’s orbit and find the other slotting into place next to them as if they always belonged. one of the first things that spock prime says in the movie is “I am and always will be your friend,” spock and jim are Meant for each other and the movie goes out of its way to explain that. which is what makes it so Weird to see people complaining about how they don’t like each other.
it’s a Different relationship, but it’s absolutely no less steeped in yearning or queer subtext.
speaking of queer subtext ! some people are Very unhappy with spock’s relationship with uhura.
first thing I wanna say is that making the argument that they’re doing anything that the original series hasn’t done is just, completely untrue. kirk has fallen in love with more girls in the og series than he knew what to do with, leonard nimoy was a heartthrob in his time (and he deserves it, awooga) and spock reflects that ! Spock usually turns the women who come onto him down (or when he doesn’t it’s because a plant has literally altered his mind), but there are exceptions to even that. all of three of the main boys have plenty of romance subplots, it happens. if that takes the possibility of them being queer off the table for you (which it shouldn’t, m-spec people exist) then I’m sorry to say that TOS is not exempt.
now, I can understand why Specifically This Relationship could rub people the wrong way or being disappointed that they didn’t outright depict kirk and spock as having a relationship (if not in the first movie then in the following ones after they’ve gotten to know each other), but even in that context the way I’ve seen people talk about it comes off as insensitive.
no, the relationship did not come out of nowhere. they considered having spock and uhura date each other in the original show (and you can see signs of this in the earlier episodes, where uhura very obviously flirts with him and they spend time together in their down time) before they decided against it, and spock was originally going to kiss uhura until shatner insisted that he wanted to do it (because it was the first interracial kiss on tv). [Link 1, Link 2, Link 3]
nichelle nichols was asked about this exact thing (spock and uhura’s relationship in the movie), you can read the interview in full here [Link] but I’d like to highlight this paragraph in particular:
“Now, go back to my participation in Star Trek as Uhura and Leonard (Nimoy) as Spock. There was always a connection between Uhura and Spock. It was the early 60’s, so you couldn’t do what you can do now, but if you will remember, Uhura related to Spock. When she saw the captain lost in space out there in her mirror, it was Spock who consoled her when she went screaming out of her room. When Spock needed an expert to help save the ship, you remember that Uhura put something together and related back to him the famous words, “I don’t know if I can do this. I’m afraid.” And Uhura was the only one who could do a spoof on Spock. Remember the song (in “Charlie X”)? Those were the hints, as far as I’m concerned.”
the film makers looked at the fact there were Hints for uhura and spock, that they were Interested in exploring an interracial couple for the first time (both before and immediately after interracial couples won the right to legally get married) but Couldn’t because of the circumstances of the times and decided to Make that depiction. you don’t have to Like their relationship just because of that fact, but it’s Incredibly reductive to play down it’s significance as just a No Homo cop out. explicitly queer relationships are not the only progressive or culturally important relationships in fiction.
moreover, if you can’t imagine polyamory in the communist utopian future that’s on you.
moreover, this perception that this was a soulless cash grab is just, unfounded.
leonard nimoy returned to the role as spock for the first time in 16 years (since 1991) and this was Entirely because of the respect they had for nimoy, spock as a character, and the franchise as a whole.
Lets look at some quotes from nimoy in interviews regarding the film:
Leonard Nimoy: When I first read the script (...) I immediately contacted J.J. and said “I think it is terrific…I think you guys have done a wonderful job. There is still work to be done, but it is very clear that you and your writers know what you are doing and you know how to do this movie and know what it should be about….and I am very interested.” Then as time went by we worked things out with Paramount, but the most important things were J.J. and the script. (...) I am very pleased about that and I am very comfortable with where this is going. I think the writers have done a terrific job. They have a real sense of the characters and the heart of Star Trek and what it is really all about.
(...)
TrekMovie.com: Now in the case of the new movie you have been retired from acting for years. What was it about this one that made you want to act again and go through the make up again? What was it that made you say ‘I really want to do this?’
Leonard Nimoy: You are right, this is a special situation. First it is Star Trek and so I have to pay attention. I owe that to Star Trek. Second place is that it is J.J. Abrams who I think very highly of, he is a very talented guy. Then came the script and it was very clear that I could make a contribution here. The Spock character that I am playing, the original Spock character, is essential and important to the script. So on the basis of those three elements it was easy to make the decision. So those three things: Star Trek, J.J. Abrams, and an interesting Spock role.
[Link]
Praising the cast playing younger versions of characters from the original 1960s TV series, he [Leonard Nimoy] said: “Let me take the opportunity to say this. Everybody at this table [the cast] are very, very talented and intelligent people.”
“They found their own way to bring that talent and intelligence to this movie, and I think it shows. (...)  When Karl Urban introduced himself as Leonard McCoy and shook hands with Chris Pine, I burst into tears. That performance of his is so moving, so touching and so powerful as Doctor McCoy, that I think D. Kelley would be smiling, and maybe in tears as well.”
“The makers of this film reawakened the passion in me that I had when we made the original film and series. I was put back in touch with what I cared about and liked about Star Trek, and why I enjoyed being involved with Star Trek. So, it was an easy way to come on home.”
“[In this Star Trek] they said things and showed me things, and demonstrated the sensibility that I felt very comfortable with, and I think that shows in the movie. I like it.”
[Link 1, Link 2]
again, you don’t have to like it just because leonard nimoy did, you don’t have to Agree. but the idea that nobody working on the film Cared is provably false. near everyone working on the project was already a fan of the series or were excited to be involved and did their homework. it’s genuinely a Miracle just how much of a labor of love this was, and in my opinion you can feel that through the movie itself. I’d highly recommend looking into interviews and behind the scenes details about the movies. they had a respect not just for the source material, but for leonard nimoy as a person.
there’s definitely more I Could say about this, but it’s 4 am now so I’m gonna shelve it jklfdsa
that said! it’s Fine to not like the movie, not everything is going to be suited to everyone’s taste, but the specific criticisms I’ve seen feel very off base

The Road Movie
Most movies follow a general script type depending on genre, and this is used to tell a story that has a satisfying ending. It is interesting when a movie mixes up type and tone and goes against genre type. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it is terrible. Great directing and acting can make the subversion of expectations less jarring (or more depending on the end goal), but the end goal and tone allows us to attach a film to a genre. But what about films that aren't about the end goal? There are many films that are in a sub-genre that focus on the journey with little regard to the end goal. These are what are called "road movies" and can fall under many different genres since the end goal doesn't really matter. Let's address some famous road movies through the years that are also classified in a variety of other genres:
Tumblr media
Huckleberry Finn (1931)
The OG of travel films, this was the sequel to Tom Sawyer (1930) and had the same child actors. This wasn't what you would call financially successful, but this was largely due to the Great Depression. The 1939 version of the movie did a lot better and was one of the well known films of child actor Mickey Rooney. This story of travel was an early role for many actors including Rooney, Ron Howard, and Elijah Wood. Although there were threats of death and portrayals of slavery, this film was considered a family adventure in the pre-code film era. I guess a boy escaping his abusive father in the company of an adult escaped slave where people are actively attempting to rob and kill them was considered a fun family romp in the early 30s. This was the same story that came from a book that was banned in schools during the 1980s. It is a great story and I love the works of Mark Twain; I am just surprised at the genre.
Tumblr media
Stagecoach (1939)
This is a great movie that transcends the Western genre of which it is categorized. A group of people all have different reasons for traveling from an Arizona territory over to New Mexico. There is word of vengeful thieves and angry Apaches that threaten the small band of travelers. It is actually very intense because the threat feels very real throughout the film. The entire film focuses on the journey and the relationships forged (and broken) on the way. This was the breakout role for John Wayne and was part of an amazing string of films directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne.
Tumblr media
Easy Rider (1969)
This is a film that really spoke to the hippie movement during the Vietnam Era. It is statement on how difficult it is to truly be free and how society fears that freedom and tries to destroy it. The film might very well have the worst dialogue of any movie I have ever seen. Actors Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper were actively using drugs throughout film production, so the real draw was the sweet rides and the moving soundtrack. This is a movie where I actually want more driving montages and less character development because I don't identify with the characters at all. Maybe it is a generational gap.
Tumblr media
Paper Moon (1973)
This film is amazing. It is the story of a traveling grifter who takes a little girl on the road with him after her mother dies. He teaches her how to make a living cheating people and they form a father-daughter type of relationship. It is a comedy drama that won the girl an Oscar for best supporting actress when she was only 10. Some nice back story, the girl is Tatum O'Neal and is the actual daughter of the grifter, played by Ryan O'Neal. It is kind of strange, but this is a "coming of age" film on the road.
Tumblr media
The Blues Brothers (1980)
Now this is what I am talking about. Two brothers go on a trip after being released from jail because they got a message from God. I am pretty sure that this film still holds the record for most crashed vehicles in a single movie. It is also interesting that the film is technically a musical. The brothers stop at different locations and songs break out. In between stops, they are chased by the police in an almost demolition derby style chase. I really enjoy this movie and believe that it really keeps a fast pace (literally and figuratively), but, like many road films, I can't say it is good because it is more of an experience than a story.
Tumblr media
Thelma and Louise (1991)
This was an interesting twist on the "run from the law" type of film. Two women are friends and decide go on a weekend retreat. They get in trouble after killing a man who tries to assault them and have to run from the authorities. It has a reputation for being very feminist (despite being directed by accused mesogenist Ridley Scott) because of the negative portrayal of men. It obviously wasn't that bad since it was nominated for 6 Oscars including both leads for best actress. In fact, Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon were both nominated for best actress at the Academy Awards, the BAFTAs, and the Golden Globes. It is the quintessential road film since the end goal is constantly changing and best defined as "away from here."
Tumblr media
Natural Bork Killers (1994)
This was kind of a strange film. It is a crime drama where the audience follows two killers with traumatic childhoods as they meet and go on a murder spree. Similar to Bonnie and Clyde, but with gory murders as the focus over bank robberies. It is directed by Oliver Stone, and criticizes the glorification of violence by the media. It is most definitely a road movie because the end goal for the two is simply to be together and enjoy the rush of breaking the law. Hm. It is actually quite a bit like Bonnie and Clyde. Interesting. I would like to make a note that my mom hates this film because of the shaky cam and Dutch angles. It made her feel sick at the theater.
Tumblr media
Road Trip (2000)
OK. This is far and away my least favorite film on this list, but it is the most famous "boner road comedy" that I am familiar with. It is a high school/college coming-of-age film that focus on the sexual pursuits of a group of young men. These types of films are marked with gross out humor, gratuitous nudity, and boys trying to have sex. There was a bunch of films like this that came out around the early 2000s and they all had to do with boys traveling some place in search of idealized sex (the plot on this one is a little different, something to do with a sex tape) and generally they find that the best girl for them was there by them all along. It takes a nice idea of character development and throws raunchy jokes and boobs at it. I was not a fan, but it was definitely a thing.
Tumblr media
Death Proof (2007)
This is much better shlock. It is the Tarantino version of exploitation grindhouse films of the seventies, but updated to be a women empowerment film. It was part of a double feature that was paired with a horrific zombie outbreak film directed by Rod Rodriguez, but this one is much better on its own. It is the story of an old stunt man who travels around looking for unsuspecting victims whom he can run down in his indestructible car. This is a great example of what a road movie can be because Tarantino took the concept of a slasher and put it completely on the road.
Tumblr media
Mad Max Fury Road (2015)
Here is an action revenge film in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where most of the film is driving. The producers couldn't find a director who they trusted with remaking George Miller's Mad Max franchise so the 70 year old Miller said "hold my beer" and made this masterpiece that is arguably better than any of the first three (edit: I guess Miller always intended to direct but it took so long to go into production that he joked in interviews about giving up on it). The original trilogy with Mel Gibson presents an amazing world where most people are nomadic and traveling can be a life or death proposition. Fury Road is the further adventures of the character and his interaction with one Furiosa. The use of many practical effects on moving vehicles that was garnished with CG effects made for one of the best action films in the last decade. It was more than a simple movie about traveling; it was a land were the road was life and everything surrounded the ability to be mobile enough to get supplies in a dead world.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is by no means all of the road movies. The Wizard of Oz is technically a road movie. The Grapes of Wrath is a critically acclaimed road movie from around the same time. Comedies like The Cannonball Run, Smokey and the Bandit, and National Lampoon's Vacation can all be classified in the genre. Rain Man is one of the best films of all time and it can be classified as a road movie. What it comes down to is that, when considering characters, a writer should think about the journey itself and think of how the leads interact with this entity. The road might be the best character in the whole story.

i really thought carlos was going in for a kiss he is probably getting one later
i like how the dance isn’t big, it’s small and a little awkward bc right then it’s just them.
THEYRE SO IN LOVE HOLY SHIT
damnit big red
big red is legally required to interrupt almost kiss moments especially if it’s an lgbt kiss bc we cant have two in one season
in a heartbeat is so cute. Frankie showed UP this season with the vocals. there is no way that was all acting bc they looked so in love.
I...I love it
the lyrics are perfect
In a Heartbeat and Let You Go are probably the best OG songs of the season
“Siri, add In a Heartbeat to my gay sob playlist”
these boys are just serenading each other left and right
“Yeah”
so it’s just “yeah”!?!? That’s it!?!?! Seb could have least kissed him on the cheek or did they use all their kisses?
I love the song and love the scene, but there is so much more to discuss. Are we going to brush over the fact that Seb literally had an allergic reaction and didn’t get help because he didn’t want to disappoint Carlos!?!? Are we going to brush over “no, seb” and seb feeling like he has to get carlos big things!?! One “yeah” doesn’t erase all that. I’m hoping we get closure, proper closure, not a joke.
In conclusion, only one thing was settled (Carlos loves Seb for Seb, not because he is the only out guy in school).
“Seb and Carlos suffer their first fight” effing liars
BTW it looks like they filmed the dance scene with the homecoming suits and normal outfits so disney release the footage

Have you ever watched the Hannibal series (the newer one)? It can be a little cheesy at times but you might dig Hannibal and Will’s dynamic. They remind me of Wilson and Maxwell in some sense
Okay, so here is the singular thing:
Tumblr media
These two will always be my OG Hannibal OTP. Possibly unpopular opinion, I don't know. My God, how long I have loved them. Garage sale VHS long. Silence of the Lambs is a very favored movie by one of my OCs, and she was rather put out that Anthony Hopkins was not reprising his role at the time, in an expression of my own deep, deep longing for a full series of Iconic Murder Husband.
Tumblr media
(She also eats people. And we all go ssst 'cause it's so hot good god damn Mr. Hopkins and Mz. Foster class! act! so! good! pecs jesus)
But once I got over that, I fully embraced Murder Husbands 2.0!
Tumblr media
They ABSOLUTELY have the dynamic, except if my Maxwell brought Woundson food in his sensory-controlled autist den (A++++++ scene, life-sustaining, This Shit Everything About It), it would be dubiously cooked and also slung directly at his head with "EAT DAMMIT" and a snarky slapfight would ensue. Hannibal has endless restraint and patience, and Maxwell is more like Wilson than he likes to let on--he gets bored easily and is a curious man, and despite the chess mastery, he's impulsive, doesn't think too far ahead. He's not unintelligent, but, well...nobody's Lecter but Lecter.
Tumblr media
(Lecter is on tier with Freddy, Mikey, and Jason for humanity. Maxwell retains more personhood by way of not having a body count, and by way of getting body horror'd for his actions. I Have Opinions About Killer Psychology, Excuse Me)
I will admit that I have only seen a little of Hannibal, I'm not even through the first season--this is because for awhile, I was watching it with my fiance, we ran into timing issues and started watching other things, that song and dance. That keeps me from claiming true ship status, probably, but it's something I'm working on remedying. I have deeply enjoyed every moment I've seen, and fully plan on watching the series in full, I just need to open up time for it.
It doesn't help that I started watching during what my friends/relatives call "the black hole period" after my describing it as such, an extremely affected span of years after my mother passed where I really wasn't taking in much at all because grief is able to block out many suns--even these dark stars.
Tumblr media
(All of them. Like, damn these two are great, but I always loved Fishburne on CSI, Raul Esparza is incredible whatever he's in, I understand Gillian Anderson and Eddie Izzard I have yet to get to, just...Jesus this CAST)
I'd say I'll be ready for it once I finish hyperfocusing on the last AGDQ and once I get some words down on paper for my Maxwell/Woundson so I don't get character seep right when I'm finally seeing them straight on again, it's been a hot second but they're finally back IC, totally, in my head, and I want to grab that while I can. Then I can have precious reward of hot neurotic meets hot psychotic and oh god no why are there deer
Tumblr media
(Three of my favorites!)
tl;dr: I love, I agree, I'm behind, I want more. Thank you for reminding me, I'm pushing this one up The Big Media List!
As a thank you:
Tumblr media
From I think October? My Hannibal is the oldschool one, new one is my sister's, they both protect precious son.
Tumblr media
Thank you for the great ask!

You asked for it: live thoughts from Ria and @creatrixanimi watching RvB Zero.
So, after having a movie night the day before (third movie night in a week, actually, we are very productive) watching Neil Breen movies and “Cool Cat”, it was now time to touch upon Zero. Sadly, Zero does not belong in the “so bad it’s good” category, but alas, Ria had to spoil Haley’s innocence.
This is not a proper edited review, but just snippets of our live reaction while watching the thing together. We are not drunk, but this continued way past midnight for Ria, so maybe her brain isn’t fully functioning. Also, Ria is a potty mouth because cursing is easy when it’s not your native language. Enjoy.
Episode 1:
Ria: I can’t figure out if they were trying to do a Grif and Simmons parallel with those two random guards talking outside, the ones with the Wash retconning.
Haley: Their armor doesn’t cover their noses.
Ria: That’s gotta be cold. Frostbitten noses.
...
Haley: There is no exposition. Like, it feels like the writers had their idea and know what is going on, but we don’t so it just feels weird and random. It feels like a Marvel movie.
Ria: Is that a compliment? I haven’t watched Marvel.
Haley: Not a good one.
 ...
Ria: This episode isn’t that bad in itself. But it’s just there to establish that the OG characters can’t beat this new villain, but the new guys can, and, urgh.
 ...
Episode 2:
[The shot focuses on One’s behind.]
Ria’s dirty mind: Ass.
 ...
Ria: STOP CALLING HIM DAVID.
...
Ria: I like this character, but I don’t remember his name.
Haley: Raymond.
Ria: This is why we need a name system like with the Freelancers and states. Should’ve just been numbers all the way through. Except Eleven, you fucking whore.
 ...
Haley at the sight of Raymond’s phone: It’s so big.
Ria: It’s the future. I can believe it.
 ...
Ria: Here’s the thing driving me crazy. Axel is a normal name in Denmark. But like, only old people use it. I know two Axels and they are both older than eighty. So that’s when I think of when I see Axel.
 ...
[After the whole training montage where we are introduced to the characters, we are still confused.]
Ria: I can’t remember their names.
Haley: Well, they didn’t show all of them. They didn’t show One.
Ria: They did!
Haley: They did?
Ria: Wow. So we got all that tell and no show, and we are still confused.
 ...
Haley: When it comes to genre, it’s actually not that bad with the narrated tell and don’t show. If it wanted to be a cheesy/bad action movie, that’s a trope that’s used relatively frequently in the genre. It’s a bad action movie. But it’s not RvB. It’s kinda like a particularly bad Marvel movie.
Ria: You’re really not selling me on the Marvel movies tonight.
 ...
Ria: I know I’m just a sucker for Joe, but I keep thinking of s15. Like, here they just use the files as a cheap way to introduce the characters. But like, in s15, Dylan just read out loud Grif’s file, and it was not to introduce him, but like, to show the complexity of the characters and go against the files? I don’t know, it just seems way cooler now.
 ...
[After the whole “what’s East’s deal” scene, we were so confused. Literally paused for five minutes trying to figure who was whose dad and why and what. How many daughters did Axel have? And where are they? We were just lost. Future Haley: Him waxing poetic about his daughters while watching the two girls in his team train confused me like I thought he was talking about East and One and couldn’t count sdfghjk. Future Ria: I’d even watched the show before and I was still confused.]
Ria: I can’t figure out if they’re too fast or if we’re just stupid.
Haley: It’s like I’m trying to remember the details but it all slips through my fingers.
Ria: The whole Zero experience is to feel too old for this shit.
 ...
Ria: STOP FUCKING CALLING HIM DAVID
 ...
One: This is how it’s done, grandma.
Ria: Fuck you.
 ...
Episode 3:
Haley: People would like it if they love dumb action shows. It works as a mindless action show.
 ...
Haley: So this is a temple?
Ria: I hate the worldbuilding. Is this the same planet as before? Like, Chorus had temples, but it also had lore about it. Is this the same sort of temples?
Haley: So shouldn’t this temple have its own key? Why do they need to include Tucker? It makes no sense for the temple to require a totally different sword from a different planet.
Ria: So they could beat him up ‘cause OG characters are weak now.
 ...
Haley: I don’t like the training scenes. They are so long and boring.
Ria: This is like the third episode where they are training. Holy shit.
 ...
Haley: It’s not that bad. But if you like Red vs. Blue, it’s not something for you. They aren’t really comparable.
Ria: I just don’t understand what they wanted to continue for Red vs. Blue. Like, it’s not the worldbuilding or the plot or the characters. I just don’t get it.
 ...
Haley: Raymond is the best character.
Ria: I like Raymond.
Haley: He’s RvB. He should be the main character.
 ...
Ria: Did East just use the “I’m not like the other (girls)” line?
Haley: I don’t like her. She’s a brat. Why did Carolina have to apologize? They were just training, this is something she’s gonna have to deal with on a daily basis lmao.
Ria: Didn’t Carolina have a cast on her arm? It’s gone now. I can’t keep up with the timeline. So, she’s healed, but how long was Wash gone? They are so vague about everything. Worldbuilding, timeline, motivations.
 ...
Ria: …Did Carolina just say she’d suit up? While wearing a full armor suit?
 ...
[And this is where the cursed part takes place. To talk, we’d often pause the thing. Here, I randomly paused during the introduction for Starlight Laboratories. There’s a desk in the shot. With a fucking marker on it.]
Tumblr media
Haley: That’s a Crayola marker. That’s a Crayola marker on the table.
Ria: Glad we can appreciate the details by pausing.
[Haley then missed the entire Axel flashback scene because she was too busy looking up pictures of Crayola markers. When this is revealed, Ria lost it for like, three minutes]
Haley: I had that marker as a kid.
Ria: So 4/5 stars for the marker?
Haley: They were supposed to smell like blueberries or something but they just smelled like chemicals.
Ria: This is the most excited we’ve been about Zero so far.
[Future Haley: I was literally laugh-crying you dont understand. This was the best part of the show.]
...
Episode 4:
Ria: They all have super powers. It’s so weird.
Haley: I keep thinking they are gonna explain stuff. But they don’t. So I’m just confused.
 ...
[Haley has now brought forth all the markers in her room to find a Crayola one. She drops them all on the floor. Ria loses it again.] [Future Haley update: I found a yellow one it smells like lemons :)]
 ...
Ria: They are all glowing and have super powers. It’s weird. Like, I know we had super powered armor before but that was all connected to AIs. I don’t get how all of this works. They don’t have AIs.
 ...
[We both agree that we enjoy Raymond and Tiny. Bless them.]
 ...
Ria: It’s weird. The dialogue is so oblivious, it comments on its own mistakes. Like, Carolina just acknowledged Wash has had a computer in his head before. But they don’t acknowledge the whole canonical lore about his trauma regarding computers in his head and why he’d hate this. Same with the name David. They just noticed that it’s his first name and that’s how they’d show how close Carolina is with him, but they didn’t acknowledge the canon lore that Wash dislikes people using his first name.
 ...
Episode 5:
Haley: Why didn’t they use Locus’ sword instead. It’d make more sense. He’s the one travelling around planets and wanting to help people??
Ria: What’s the worldbuilding here? Is Tucker on the same planet? Is this Earth? Chorus?
 ...
Haley: Gotta love it when they make Tucker hit on teenagers.
Ria: Oh god why did they make East 18.
 ...
Haley: They should have done something with the Warthog song, even if that’s a Red Team thing.
Ria: I miss Red Team.
 ...
Ria: Wait, so if these three swords are connected, why can the two first ones move by themselves and they have like super powers connected to them? When Tucker’s sword is just boring? They didn’t even make a joke about how the two new swords are longer than Tucker’s.
 ...
Tucker: I’m fine, I have my sword.
Ria: That line is so tragic in hindsight.
 ...
One: It’s Tucker. He is dead.
Carolina: Oh my god.
Haley: *laughs her ass off*
 ...
Haley: I don’t understand why anyone is doing anything.
Ria: Your brain is still thinking about that fucking marker.
 ...
Episode 6:
Ria: The dialogue did it again! Wash just said “amazing medical tech”. Like, he points out a plot hole. Because that amazing tech can heal brain injuries and bring people back from death, but East had to be tortured for years to heal her vague illness? Like, why couldn’t their amazing tech fix that.
 ...
[While watching the design of the temple.]
Ria: It looks like those are just plates glued to the wall. Dinner is served.
 ...
Haley: There is no logical reason why they brought in Tucker. His sword isn’t even from this planet.
Ria: To lure in fans.
 ...
Haley in a very sad voice: The speech wasn’t good.
 ...
Episode 7:
Ria: Is all of this happening on the same planet? They keep driving. The worldbuilding is so weird. At least earlier RvB made a joke about how they could just drive everywhere. This is like a big desert, a training base, laboratory, city and temples and Tucker’s workplace, and I don’t know if it’s even on the same planet.
 ...
Ria: Diesel is just standing there waiting while they outfit Carolina.
Haley: It’s like a video game.
 ...
Ria: The temple’s walls are filled with runes.
Haley: It feels like a free/bought asset. It doesn’t even look like the temples on Chorus. It looks like something in WoW or something like that.
Ria: It’s driving me mad. I can read runes! Imagine a big boss fight and the freaking alphabet is plastered on the walls. That’s what I’m looking at.
 ...
Haley: Zero is such a boring villain. It’s not interesting when we don’t know what this “power” actually is or what he wants to do with it.
 ...
Ria: That’s the helmet Spencer wore.
Haley: Oh god I forgot about him.
Ria: So did the writers.
Haley: Spencer should have been the real villain.
 ...
Haley: *sees the random model of the temple guardian alien* I miss Santa.
 ...
Episode 8:
Ria: The aliens are just dancing in the background while Carolina is fighting Diesel.
Haley laughing: Oh my god, they are. They are just jumping up and down.
 ...
Ria: So, the villain just turned overpowered, and the solution is that Raymond just flicks a switch we haven’t heard about and now the heroes are overpowered too?
Haley: It just makes them shiny. And like... they don’t even use the “power”, they don’t fight him with their powers which only some of them have, they just shoot their ordinary guns at him while doing unnecessary flips.
Ria: I just remembered Church’s dick switch. That had more dramatic buildup.
 ...
Axel: You’re too cocky for that.
Ria’s dirty brain: Cock.
 ...
Post Zero thoughts:
[Ria returns from bathroom break and Haley is proudly showing off her marker over video cam.]
Haley: There was too much going on so I just focused on the marker.
Ria: So how many stars would you give it?
Haley: It’s really bad.
Ria: How many stars for marker representation?
Haley: Three out of five. It was only there for a second.
 ...
Haley: In the beginning, it wasn’t that bad. It was dumb, but also fun and sorta cool. But then it just went on for too long and they didn’t explain anything properly and it stopped being fun really fast. But I can see why some people might enjoy it. Like, you’d love it for its action but only that. Not for plot and/or the character writing.
Ria: I think my biggest problem is the worldbuilding. They kept everything so vague because they didn’t want to connect, not really. Like, where is this happening? When? Why are Carolina and Wash there? Like, the motivations for all the characters were so vague as well.
 ...
Haley: Raymond was great. He had personality and some good lines. And he felt like RvB. Like, he used his brain and actually got shit done, but he also wasn’t over-powered. He followed a similar character arc to what the Reds and Blues had. He sucks at fighting but he’s efficient and smart in a practical way with his rocket launcher. He does the most and he doesn’t stop being a goofball! Even Zero was focused on stopping him the most at the end. And he didn’t need to do any stupid flips.
 ...
Haley: The borrowed assets annoyed me. It ended up looking stupid, like, the temple felt more like fantasy than science fiction. And nothing like Chorus. And normally, RvB doesn’t have to worry about being cohesive because all of the designs are from Halo so it all makes sense and it’s connected. But this is just so random it feels distracting, I feel like this is a big reason people felt that Zero was so jarring… but on a subconscious level. It just felt off and there was no cohesive design. Also everything looked like it was made for video games and not modified at all for the show.
 ...
Haley: Honestly I was optimistic at first but then I got confused really fast and it kept getting worse because it was so fast. They didn’t explain stuff properly or at all. Like, they made it too big. Should have been smaller. I thought going with the “Starlight Labs is evil and needs to go down” plot would have been A LOT better and would have tied together multiple aspects of the story that the temple plot didn’t.
Ria: If I had the power which I don’t, I dunno, but I if the main point was to introduce new characters, I’d keep them tied to lore and worldbuilding we already know. So we don’t get so confused and it doesn’t feel so disconnected. Like, I’m still in love with the idea that it should have been Carolina on Chorus dealing with these soldiers who have been fighting all their lives and now don’t have to do that anymore. But maybe Chorus still needing an army, and that’s why she is training it. I don’t know, but like, familiar, build on what we know. And then they wouldn’t be superpowered, but like, just competent-ish but normal soldiers and we’d get to know them better, but I just think Zero just wanted them to be these super cool soldiers even better than Carolina so they could pull off all the fight scenes. ‘Cause it’s all Zero has going for it. The fight scenes. It’s its strength and weakness ‘cause they sacrificed everything else to look cool. And it does. But it’s boring and there is nothing else going on.
 ...
Ria: I’m still so annoyed about the temples. Why are they there? Like, on Chorus it was a big thing, also plotwise, but it had lore connected to it and the worldbuilding explained it. So, where are these temples? A different planet, right? Is it the same aliens? Are people just cool with the temples? Why haven’t they been explored before. Chorus made sure to explain all of that.
 ...
Haley: The West and East scene-
Ria: Feast.
Haley: Confused me. ‘cause West didn’t really regret anything. He just said why he did it. And then all of the sudden East forgave him and rejoined the team. It was so weird. He doubled down on the thing she hated him for so much I was like “Wow he’s kinda an asshole” and then all of a sudden she was on his side? What?
 ...
Haley: Zero does its job if you want action and nothing else. And it’s not RvB. Don’t watch it if you like RvB. And I just want to acknowledge that we are nitpicking. Quite a bit. I’ll admit that. But, I wouldn’t nitpick the other RvB seasons the same way because the old RvB never took itself seriously the way Zero did.
Ria: I agree. We are nitpicking. But like, that’s why we have the movie nights.
Haley: But we are also allowed to criticize it. You can do that with any season. And with the other seasons, you could nitpick it and you can find stuff you don’t like, but there are always stuff you do like or that other people like. I just can’t find anything about Zero that I like. Besides Raymond.
Ria: Yeah. Like, I really love 15. And it had so many flaws people pointed out. And when it comes to criticism and Zero, I just don’t see many points about why people like it. They are allowed to do that though. But, like, we could have a movie night where we watch the Chorus seasons and we’d nitpick so much because we both have issues with it, but there is still so much stuff we’d still like.
Haley: I like Raymond though. He’s like Grimmons lovechild.
Ria: No. Fuck you. Don’t put that in my brain.
 ...
Haley: Raymond being in this… I want to say it feels like the Freelancers seasons but if Grif was part of the team or something. But that’s just “Hit and Run”. *laughs*
Ria: NO! That’s cursed. Shut up. Also, the Freelancers were way better written.
Haley: And those seasons made better sense.
Ria: And like, the Freelancer seasons did the thing with change of tone and have these new and super cool characters and fight scenes. But they kept half of the seasons to be around the Reds and Blues so we still had the humor and the dumbasses, and Zero just, it didn’t connect.
 ...
Haley: So, I have some thoughts on Zero.
Ria: I know, you fuck, I had to write them all down by hand.
Haley: I like bad movies, actually, but Zero didn’t stay fun, so no, I didn’t enjoy it.
 ...
Ria: Do you forgive me for making you watch Zero?
Haley: Yeah.
Ria: What should we watch next?
...
Also, Haley dressed up her dog for the event and you all deserve to see her:

i like to think jack gives his friends ‘custom’ ringtones in his phone that he probably stole bc he’s not gonna pay like $2 for a fucking jingle with small-ass royalties that do shit all for the og artists. little shithead.
For Hiccup he has The Dropkick Murphys song abt loosing ur leg. Because. yknow. He’s tasteful. I guarantee you Hiccup didn’t think anything of it at first for like up to three months bc he just wasn’t paying attention to the lyrics then one day he’s like. “Wait. Wait a Minute. You asshole.” (it’s literally an old wound, but like. Still. Dude.)
For Merida it's the theme song of Braveheart since its the Scottish Movie. She hits him upside the head every time she hears it bc she knows he did it specifically with the intent to annoy and it WORKS and that makes her even more mad than just the ringtone itself.
Sandy gets Mr. Sandman bc of COURSE there’s no other option.
Rapunzel gets walking on Sunshine bc she’s just an angel and like who could argue with that? C’mon now, its Rapunzel. Both Merida and Hiccup are like "why cant we get cute ones too" and Jack is like urs are u just refuse to see the inherent genius behind it.
Bunny wouldn’t allow Jack to have his number(willingly) but in my heart Jack would set his ringtone as ‘anything you could do’ from annie get ur gun bc its very reminiscent of his and Bunny’s rivalry, no?
North gets Rasputin bc again Jack thinks he’s funny. It backfires because North gets excited every time he hears it, he’s like “Rasputin?! Was family friend long time ago! Delight!” and Jack still can’t figure out if North’s fucking with him. Please. it’s been five plus years. Did your family know or not know Rasputin. That’s life-changing information. North please. Sir-
honestly I'm blanking on specifics for Tooth but i think Jack would pick something really silly but still sentimental, bc he’ll still bully Tooth but a little more lightly.
Similar to Merida, Jack has selected Baby It’s Cold Outside for Elsa because it’s her least favorite song in the world. When her and Anna were kids, Anna would watch the original Neptune’s Daughter relentlessly. Like. Nearly daily. You know how little girls are with their favorite movie?(like how little girls are w/Frozen?) Baby it’s Cold outside was like Do You Wanna Build A Snowman but for Anna specifically. Elsa looks like she wants to commit murder every time she hears even the first note. Jack thinks it’s hilarious bc it’s like OF COURSE that’s like one of the only things that makes Elsa break her calm. Siblings know what i’m talkin abt.
I don’t have one in mind for Anna bc there’s so many possibilities for bullying in Jack’s eyes. Idk.

#160-151
160. Girl At Home (4.416)
Highest score was 7.6; Lowest score was 1
I consider this not being in the bottom five a win! Remember when we all theorised that this song was about Zac Efron? What a fun theory. It’s also fun to contrast this song with later songs such as illicit affairs and ivy. To be both anti-cheating and pro-cheating all within the same discography... the range she has!
Highlighted comments:
@leadinmeon: “i like this one. not sure why ppl stan it so much”
@corneliaavenue: “I'm saving my 0, but girrrlllll you were so close to getting it”
159. Bad Blood (4.497)
Highest score was 7.6; Lowest score was 0 (@na-smetisti)
A song about the Katy Perry feud that honestly feels like decades ago at this point. Looking back, what strikes me about this song is how... vague and generic the lyrics are. I mean, I unashamedly bop, but if Taylor hadn’t all but named Katy as the subject, I’m pretty sure no one would have ever known. We rated the album version here, but I think the Kendrick version probably would score a little bit higher, mostly because the verses are marginally more interesting.
Highlighted comments:
@everfolk: “the kendrick version slaps tho”
@tobesolonely: “this song hits at a solid ten when you're mad though”
@leadinmeon: “look it's poppin but it's also boring”
158. Change (4.778)
Highest score was 7.5; Lowest score was 1
Honestly, I think this is one of the songs that will benefit best from a rerecording. Because as much as I love Taylor, this is... not the best showcase of her vocals. Imagine if she included that 15 second long high note that I used to see all over my timeline on swiftie twt back in 2013. Now that would be a moment.
Highlighted comments:
@corneliaavenue: “her worst album closer”
157. Two Is Better Than One (4.797)
Highest score was 10; Lowest score was 1
This is a collab with Boys Like Girls, a band I know absolutely nothing about. I've only listened to this once, when I was doing my own ranking, and I could not tell you how it goes, but I think it bopped at least a little bit? If any OG Swifties have an insight on this collab, particularly how and why it happened, I would find that very interesting!
Highlighted comments:
@tobesolonely: “i asked taylor to perform this on the rep tour and she looked at me like i was crazy” (she should’ve listened to you smh)
@itspeterlosingwendy: “boys like girls was such a big part of middle school, this duet hit hard then”
@yourivysgrows: “I had war flashbacks remembering this existed”
156. Invisible (4.825)
Highest score was 9; Lowest score was 1
I have literally nothing interesting to say about this. It’s not awful, but I think it’s a concept that Taylor has done better numerous other times. I think I enjoyed it when I was like 12 years old and had a minor crush on a guy in my class I had never spoken to? I would rather not think about my 12 year old self, so let’s just leave it at that.
Highlighted comments:
@leadinmeon: “this song is so terrible i have no idea why people like it”
@yourivysgrows: “7 year old me BOPPED to this”
155. Today Was A Fairytale (4.909)
Highest score was 8; Lowest score was 0 (@everfolk)
Am I a fake Swiftie if I've never watched Valentine's Day? I've watched a compilation of Taylor's scenes on YouTube, and that was more than enough for me. This song was probably the best thing to come out of that movie for me, and even then I hardly ever listen to it. It’s sweet, though.
Highlighted comments:
@everfolk: “I cannot for the life of me listen to this song in full”
@onceintwentylifetimes: “It's cute but she's done it all before and better”
@yourivysgrows: “That movie javajajaj”
154. I Forgot That You Existed (5.000)
Highest score was 7.5; Lowest score was 2
The way that the final score for this song is a perfectly average 5... almost poetic in a sense. It isn't love, it isn't hate, it's just indifference indeed. I think this song being an album opener makes me dislike it more than I otherwise would, it’s just so underwhelming in that role. Also, someone (either a sessioner or someone pretending to be a sessioner) hyped it up as being a “pop State of Grace” and I’m still bitter about that.
Highlighted comments:
@liabilitys: “the closest she gets to acknowledging calcium hydroxide and i love that for her”
@corneliaavenue: “I forget this song exists”
153. A Place in This World (5.059)
Highest score was 7.5; Lowest score was 2
This really hit hard for my teenage self, but it’s been a while since I really felt like it connected. It’s a nice song, and a nice sentiment, but the lyricism is ultimately a bit simplistic and the song doesn’t really have as much depth as we’ve come to expect from Taylor’s best work.
Highlighted comments:
@yourivysgrows: “Was actually a favorite as a kid but I've outgrown it”
152. Both of Us (5.066)
Highest score was 9; Lowest score was 1
I know we just talked about Two Is Better Than One and the fact that I know literally nothing about Boys Like Girls, but for me this is the most enigmatic Taylor collab. How and why did it happen? What commonalities drove BoB and Taylor to work together? Did they discuss the Flat Earth theory? So many questions, so few answers. Also while I actually think this is a very lovely song, it's produced by Dr Luke and BoB is an antisemetic conspiracy nut so we have no choice but to not stan!

151. End Game (ft. Ed Sheeran & Future) (5.078)
Highest score was 8; Lowest score was 1
As an End Game apologist, I’m disappointed... but not surprised. This was actually my least favourite song on reputation when it first released, but over time it snuck up on me and I can appreciate it for the bop that it is! Can we at least agree that Taylor’s verse slaps? I mean, it has the ever so brilliant “I bury hatchets but I keep maps of where I put ‘em” and I wholeheartedly believe that “I can’t let you go / Your handprints on my soul / It’s like your eyes are liquor / It’s like your body is gold” is one of her greatest lyrics ever.
