#share your experiences
Text
Hey guys, let's do another Tumblr tales thread!
What has been your most (physically) painful experience yet?
Mine would be a tie between the time I fought off a deadly neurotoxin from stingray sting, or when my stomach condition first flared up.
I've covered first one before so I'm not gonna elaborate unless you ask me to, but I'm going into the second.
I have an annoying Digestive tract factory defect that flared up in my middle twenties, I can't eat that much because I get sick. The second time it flared up I was getting sharp stabbing pain in my stomach every time ate. So I are very little and even then I would need to lie down for a couple of hours because the pain was incapacitating. This was after medication. I spent maybe a whole week like this, hating food and hating to eat.

Understanding Trauma and Exploring Strategies for Healing
Shaina Tranquilino
October 24, 2023
Tumblr media
Trauma is a powerful, life-altering experience that can leave lasting emotional, psychological, and even physical scars. It can be caused by various events such as accidents, abuse, violence, natural disasters, or the loss of a loved one. While each person's experience with trauma is unique, it often leads to feelings of fear, helplessness, and disrupted daily functioning. However, there is hope for healing and growth. In this blog post, we will delve into what trauma is and explore strategies to navigate through its aftermath.
Defining Trauma: Trauma refers to an event or series of events that overwhelm an individual's ability to cope effectively. It disrupts their sense of safety and security. Such experiences trigger intense emotions and physiological responses that may persist long after the traumatic event has occurred. Common symptoms include intrusive thoughts, nightmares, flashbacks, hypervigilance, anxiety disorders, depression, mood swings, and difficulty trusting others.
Recognizing the Impact: It's crucial to acknowledge that everyone processes trauma differently; what may be traumatic for one person might not have the same effect on another. Therefore, it's essential to validate personal experiences and offer support without judgment or comparison. Understanding the impact of trauma helps individuals develop empathy towards themselves and others who have gone through similar challenges.
Strategies for Healing:
Seek Professional Help: Trauma recovery often requires professional assistance from therapists specializing in trauma-focused therapy techniques like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These therapeutic approaches empower individuals to process their trauma safely while developing coping mechanisms.
Practice Self-Care: Engaging in self-care activities can promote healing by nurturing your mind, body, and spirit. This includes getting adequate restorative sleep, maintaining a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients, exercising regularly, and engaging in activities that bring joy and relaxation. Self-care also encompasses setting healthy boundaries, practicing mindfulness or meditation, and seeking support from loved ones.
Connect with Support Networks: Sharing your experiences with trusted friends, family members, or support groups can reduce feelings of isolation and provide a sense of belonging. Surrounding yourself with empathetic individuals who validate your emotions helps rebuild trust and foster a supportive environment for healing.
Cultivate Resilience: Building resilience is an integral part of trauma recovery. Engaging in activities such as journaling, art therapy, or participating in support groups can enhance self-awareness and personal growth. Seeking out positive role models who have overcome similar traumas can inspire hope and motivate you to move forward.
Practice Mindfulness Techniques: Incorporating mindfulness techniques into your daily routine can help manage stress levels and regulate emotional responses triggered by traumatic memories. Breathing exercises, grounding techniques, yoga, or meditation can promote relaxation, self-reflection, and emotional stability.
Trauma is a harrowing experience that disrupts lives but navigating through it is possible with proper understanding and support. Healing from trauma requires patience, self-compassion, professional guidance, and the implementation of various coping strategies tailored to individual needs. Remember that everyone's journey is unique; there is no predefined timeline for healing from trauma. By embracing these strategies and cultivating resilience within ourselves, we can embark on a path towards healing, growth, and reclaiming our lives.

N Prakash : A Spotlight on a Rising Filmmaker
Tumblr media
Mr N Prakash is from a middleclass family and youngest son of his family. In college days, he started making short films and doing his best to bring it to the audience.
He always liked to make films starting from the skits that he did from his childhood days in his  apartment functions and started making short films in college days from which he learned the craft, and  then he participated in naya iyakkunar show and won the runner up prize which helped him to get his debut movie.
He haven't worked as an assistant director before but he got to work with director Vetrimaran while he was participating in nalaya iyakkunar, his comments and feedbacks greatly helped him to improve his direction
He has his interest in action comedy and mass entertaining action films but he also likes to try different types of genres in his upcoming movies.
 Building strong relationships with actors:
Talking about scripts and building conversations, he said that other than work the personal bonding we develop with actors help a lot but still we need to be patient and bring out the best from actors. It comes with experience, there is no special technique just be yourself and friendly with the actors and they will return the favour.
Challenging scene :
There was a scene which involved demolishing an atm machine in his debut movie "Kudimahaan" and it involves lot of crowd and rain effect , to make things worse they can't switch on mic due to the permission issue of shooting location. As he planned things well in advance and visited the site couple of times and his assistants did a great work they were able to tackle the difficulties they faced.
Tumblr media
The film was released on 17 March 2023 and got rave reviews from critics and audience, as it is Well made Comedy entertainment movie.
Rejection and criticism:
To cope with rejection and negative feedback he said, "Its part of the parcel i don't break my head with rejection i will simply move ahead and work towards my next opportunity."
He always welcomes criticism and hear their thoughts out and revisit them and if its really something that he need to work on and improve then he will work on it and will try to improve it.
 Handling stress and maintaining focus:
It’s stressful but he would always keep calm and maintain cool attitude, so that they will know this is a stressful job but the passion they have for it keeps them going.

I don't wanna further hijack that poor poll, but the thing about Harrow's schizophrenia is that it's canon. The author has confirmed it, and shared that it's based on her own experience.
It's a pretty obscure bit of canon, so of course there's no shame in not already knowing, but that's why I'm so obnoxiously persistent about letting people know.
Whatever else is up with Harrow, autism or cptsd or any number of likely headcanons, she is also schizophrenic. I feel like that's too important to be handwaved away as a difference of opinion.

I’m seeing a weird uptick in people commenting nasty stuff on people’s non-cat/dog pet stuff again and not so gentle reminder:
Your phobia or dislike of certain animals does not give you the right to harass and bully people who love and share them.
Use the blacklist tag like a normal human being, and leave people who love rats or snakes or bugs etc. the fuck alone.

You know what?
It's wishful thinking, but lets get Purim trending this year.
Let's all make it, be big and loud and impossible to ignore. Let's flaunt our costumes, brag with our food, share our joy. Let's try to turn this website upside down.
Let's admit it, Purim fits the Tumblr spirit. Let's put it everywhere for one day(two days)
Let's make the holiday all about Jewish survival and celebration of our joy big.

Weird folks: Vent art of any form is good and all but it should ONLY be between you and your therapist. Don’t share that stuff online or publish it!!!
Me, an artist/writer: *goes to therapy, talks about my trauma and mental health and how sometimes it’s hard to talk about it with others*
Therapist: Have you thought about using your art and writing to help you work through these things and share them with others?

Just a reminder to anyone with kids, your small children do not have the same basis for things that you do! There’s a good chance they aren’t trying to be rebellious, they just simply have no idea what you’re telling them!!
When I was small, I used to get in trouble all the time for not “walking in the crosswalk”, I had no fucking idea what a crosswalk was, the lines on the ground didn’t stick out at me, and when I tried to walk right by the adults because surely being right next to them would be the right answer, it put me outside the lines and just upset them further (also going nonverbal when stressed and having a face that doesn’t properly show emotion didn’t help me out)
If you tell your kid to do something that seems really easy to do to you, and they don’t listen, try phrasing it in a different way, instead of “walk in the crosswalk”, try pointing out the two lines on the ground, and let them know to walk in between those lines!
(Separate from the crosswalk thing, but also sometimes if it seems like your kid is being rebellious for “no reason” and they have older siblings, just,, make sure their siblings didn’t prank them by giving them false information)
