Tumblr media
I LOVE THE COLD FREEZE ME MAKE ME SO HAPPY
There's nothing better than getting all cold and wearing cozy things and there's nothing worse than overheating.
Am I the only one that likes winter the most? When it's all quiet and -20 celcius? Am I the only one that doesn't mind meters of snow on the ground? OOoooagh I love cold and winter and snow and everyone else always complains about it what's going on

People focus too much on sensory overload, and not enough on sensory euphoria. What sensory things, be they noises, tastes, textures, smells, etc. make you feel great happiness?

Auctober Day 12: Sensory Euphoria
Sensory euphoria is exactly the right song hitting all the right notes inside of me
the texture of moss
rocking in a rocking chair
crawling under all of the covers in bed and rubbing my feet together
eating candy
bouncing in my seat

Music and stim dancing can give us sensory euphoria sometimes.
Sometimes.
We're usually under or overstimulated.
Something that almost always gives us sensory euphoria is being fully emerged in water. The pool or beach in deep water is almost always and amazing experience. 🌊

Day 12: Sensory Euphoria
Now here's one I don't think about very often.
I think the most common scenario that provides sensory euphoria for me is listening to music.
A really good song will drop down the back of my neck like a pleasantly cool trickle of water. It puts all the hairs on my nape on edge and makes my skin break out into goosebumps. I can feel it travel from the point where my skull meets my spine, down and across my arms... into the follicles on the back of my forearms... down into my thighs and making the hair stand on end there, too.
It's amazing.

Auctober 12 - Sensory Euphoria
bc i apparently am only doing this whenever i'm arsed to
this fall season is actually giving me a lot of sensory euphoria! in the summer, i love when it's cold inside and i go out in the sun and i feel like a kitty because it's warm
however it is fall so now it's much more moist and i can stay out for much longer, enjoying the moisture and cool temperatures and soft grass - the cooling temperatures have lured me outside to enjoy nature while reading a book a lot more frequently - i'm more of a fan of cloudy days, but sunny days can also be nice if you have appropriate shade
i have very acute olfactory senses, so i'm really enjoying the seasonal smells! now that i think of it, the natural smells of the outdoors and how they change over the seasons has always been sooooooo great to me.
i love how the summer smells spongy and earthy and spring smells damp and wet and winter smells frigid and wood-y and fall smells very green and dry and then it gains a mild fire smell! (not like brush fires or forest fires, imagine more like a grill on a damp day or the smell of lit pumpkins
the seasons also tend to have slightly different smells day vs night, and out of all of them, i think Night-Autumn is my absolute favorite. it just gets me so jazzed and in the zone
i like smelling the air and going "oh yeah. the seasons are changing alright. i can smell it"
smells come from emissions of particles, so each season has a fingerprint of what is going on in the environment at that time!
i also really like thunderstorm and rain smells (and sounds of course) but lately things have just been really moist, but no rain that i could tell
talking about rain also reminds me of how glass and acrylic objects are a huge stim heaven for me because i like how smooth and cool it feels on my skin, and i love how light bends within it - it's one of the reasons i'd REALLY REALLY like to take up glassblowing as a hobby! I love glass objects and i would like to make some of my own - facetted ones and lumpy ones! maybe even ones that are half-and half

2006 weather: a specific experience and/or nostalgic/dreamcoric feeling attached to certain air qualities, temperatures or weather patterns; particularly those that are rainy, gloomy, dark, cloudy or chilly - a bittersweet nostalgia attributed to temperature.
2006 weather is essentially childhood loneliness, in a bittersweet way. it’s waking up earlier than everyone else, it’s getting ready for school. it’s when your bedroom is cold and your carpet is soft. it’s the childhood euphoria of having peace amongst chaos. it’s the reminising and celebration of positive or fascinating sensory experiences (if you like cold weather, at least). it’s showtime paul by charlie campbell. it’s feeling the static/energy of the crt tv in your chest and stomach. it’s hey there delilah in the supermarket on a rainy afternoon, it’s the playstation 2. it’s old christmas decorations from 2005. it’s the puddles in your backyard and on the school playground. it’s tv programming at hours nobody is watching.

The absolute joy I feel hearing thunder in the distance. A large storm is coming, and I am very excited! I cannot express how much I love this, seriously. Can anyone else relate?

Accidentally fell behind again so Imma quickly catch up.
Auctober 12 - Sensory Euphoria
Because I have an audio stim, listening to these song inches my brain the right way and I love it. (If you are going to listen to it just mind a couple of songs may be highly explicit but only a couple).
I love my doona. It is the most comfy thing in the world, and mixed with a nice pair of PJs it hasn’t any sensory yucky at all.

things i’m learning that i’m allowed to do 🩷
I can prefer media that people might think is immature for my age
the things i like don’t have to make sense to anyone but me and they don’t even have to make sense to me either
i can decorate and personalize everything i own to be the most me
i can buy pink everything and anything
my room, my taste in music, and my clothes don’t have to always match
i can prefer all my clothes are the same textures/fabrics with similar colors/prints/patterns
my outfits can be as silly and childish and immature as i want them to be
i can’t always control what i like and why, sometimes things just feel right
i can carry a stuffed animal with me wherever i want because it helps my anxiety and makes me feel safer
i don’t have to explain why something makes me happy or sad or why i like something
i can communicate in a way that tires me the least
i can use my mobility aid, i can even decorate it and put stickers on it
I can put pins on everything, i don’t just have to pick one or two
i can wear a soft hooded bathrobe instead of my scratchy winter coat and it’s just as warm and feels like i’m wrapped in a blanket
my comfort items don’t need to make sense to anyone
i can wear wigs (i felt really weird about doing anything other than my natural hair, like i was a “bad” black person because i wanted long wavy pink hair at times)
i don’t have to dress simply but i can still be comfy
the things i collect don’t have to be sophisticated
i can like music that kinda sounds like beeps and boops
i can also like music in different languages
i can listen to lullabies to sleep because i fall asleep way easier when i do
i can sleep with stuffed animals too
the books i read don’t have to be sophisticated or classic, i can prefer reading about fairies and magic and pretty things, i can even have books that are mostly pictures
i don’t have to wear jeans (ever)
i don’t have to feel bad for being different and not being able to do the same things as other people my age
it’s okay to not want my food to touch and it’s okay to have lots of different things like that
i’m not bad for needing a little extra care and sensitivity
i’m not bad for being unable to work
being autistic does make me different but i’m still me and i can love me and other people can love me too
i’m not bad
