The Night Shift.
Tumblr media
Johnnie Guilbert x Fem!Reader.
Chapter 30.
the day before the concert, tara and i spent hours putting together our perfect Falling in Reverse concert outfits. with the two of our closets combined, and with the help of Jake and Johnnies too, but they don't need to know that, we were finally content with what we were going in. clothes were scattered everywhere, but we'd worry about that later.
Tara decided on a mini skirt with 3 different belts that we had found in jakes closet, which she had stacked strategically. she took one of my blinged up hot pink crop tops that i hadn't worn since 8th grade and had that as her top. she threw a fur coat over the top of everything. she threw on her chunky black boots with spikes and a cute pair of leg warmers on to finish the look. she had been planning on the makeup she was going to do for months, but all it was was her usual makeup with pink eyeshadow and eyeliner stars on her cheek.
i ended up wearing [outfit of your choice] and paired it with [makeup of your choice].
johnnies outfit was jaw-dropping. he chose his black lace button up and obviously wore it halfway unbuttoned. he layered about 10 different necklaces and rings. he also decided on wearing a new pair of dark red skinny jeans with his usual black boots. he tied it all together with his leather jacket. for johnnies makeup, he smudged red lipstick under his eyes and streaked black eyeliner down his face.
jakes outfit was just as cunty as the rest of us; he wore a cropped black tank top paired with his favorite pair of flared jeans. he also chose his belt with bullets on it. he decided on not even bringing a jacket with his reason being "he has tattoos for a reason." he also wore platform shoes and an arrangement of bracelets, some i had never seen before. jake decided to wear no makeup to the concert.
tara slept over so it'd be easier for all of us to take the 4 hour drive early in the morning. we had decided to rent a hotel so we could all get fucked up during the concert and not have to worry about driving home when we could just call an uber. all of us were restless that night, but forced ourselves to sleep so we were really ready for the concert.
i woke up the next morning wrapped in johnnies arms, per usual. the alarm was reverberating in my ears as Johnnie was also starting to stir awake. he opened his eyes and squinted them to look at me, a small smile forming on his face. "mornin'." his groggy sleep voice greeted.
"good morning. you excited?" i asked, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. i climbed out of the bed and stretched, making a million different bones in my body crack at once. "we gotta hurry up and take our showers since everyone else needs to, too."
Johnnies eyes scanned over my body. he sighed and propped himself up on his elbow. "do you want to just take a shower together? it'd save time." he smirked, gently squeezing my hand before he began fidgeting with my fingers.
"i like that idea." i placed a gentle kiss on his lips before dragging him out of bed into the bathroom.
i started the shower, making sure it was nice and warm as Johnnie got undressed. i wasn't far behind him, getting undressed myself before stepping into the shower with him. the warm water on my back woke me up as much as it was relaxing. i watched as the water trickled down Johnnies body and seeped into his inked skin. he ran his moist hands down my body and grabbed the body wash. he squirted some into his hands and began to wash my body. he had nothing but admiration in his eyes as they trailed over every part of me. he made sure no part of me was unwashed before going to wash himself. i did the same for him, helping him wash every inch of his pale skin. he shampooed and conditioned my hair, and while i wash washing mine out, he cleaned his own. he kissed me softly, but passionately before turning off the shower and climbing out. he wrapped me up in a soft towel, as well as himself.
we made our way back to our bedroom to pack our 1 day trip bags quickly. i stole johnnies pair of chunky pajama pants to wear on the drive, as well as my Lana Del Rey tee that was beaten up and bruised from all of the use. i packed all of my makeup and my concert outfit. i didn't bother packing an outfit for the second day there since we were leaving and heading home as soon as we got checked out of the hotel. Johnnie packed pretty much the same thing as i did, the only difference being he did pack an outfit for the second day. he threw on a pair of black skinny jeans and a My Chemical Romance tee shirt to wear on the drive there.
there was a small knock on the door before tara's bright voice called out, "you guys up?" we both answered yeah at the same time. she opened the door and greeted me with a hug. "morning!" she greeted excitedly.
i hugged her back tight. "morning, Tar." i heard the shower start from down the hall. "damn, is Jake just now getting in?"
"yeah, it took me, like, 20 minutes to actually get him out of bed. he snoozed his alarm 3 times before i had to go in there and drag him out of bed myself." she sighed, sitting on the bed next to me.
Johnnie shut down his PC so it wasn't wasting electricity while we were away. "well, that's Jake for you."
tara rolled her eyes. "yeah, well, he needs his beauty sleep, anyway."
"did you get your bag fully packed?" i asked, tossing my bag over my shoulder.
"duh, i got everything ready." she smiled.
the three of us moved down to the living room, bringing our bags and everything else we needed with us. Johnnie sprawled himself out over the couch. i made my way into the kitchen and grabbed a bunch of water bottle and a few snacks for the road, putting them in one of my goat bags and setting it with the rest of our shit. Jake ended up joining me in the kitchen with a towel wrapped around his waist.
"okay, slut." i mumbled under my breath jokingly. i walked back out of the kitchen to join Johnnie on the couch.
"i know you are not talk to me, skank." he snapped his fingers and grabbed his zyns and decaf coffee off of the counter. he threw that shit in the microwave like it was nobody's business. he leaned against the counter and went on his phone.
i rolled my eyes, "is your bag even packed?"
"no," he answered nonchalantly before taking a selfie. i realized later on that he had posted it on his instagram story.
"that's wild that you're worried about your coffee right now, then." i laughed, "what if we're late to see Ronnie?" i over exaggerated.
he pursed his lips, "well, Ronnie can wait for my coffee." he smiled, taking a sip before heading up to his room.
tara had hopped in the shower immediately after jake did. she always took extremely long showers, but she made it quick today.
Jake made his way back downstairs with tara by his side less than 10 minutes later. with all of our bags and shit we needed on hand, we headed out the door.
Johnnie and I climbed into the back seat while jake and tara took the front. tara had music privileges for the first hour of the drive. her music taste was definitely different from mine, but I didn't mind it.
I leaned my head against johnnies shoulder and stared out of the front windshield, watching as all of the buildings and cars sped past. he wrapped his arm around my waist, his hand resting on my hip as he went on his phone to scroll through tiktok. my eyes flickered to his phone, watching as he reposted silly edits of himself, and of me and him, that fans had created.
Jake and tara had begun bickering about her lip smacking that annoyed jake ever so much. I felt johnnies shoulders jiggle, signaling that he was laughing. I quietly laughed along, aswell. they fought like a married couple, sometimes.
I could feel myself becoming drowsy as the car lulled me to sleep. my eyelids felt like bricks. it was way too early in the morning for this, especially when I was in and out of sleep all of last night. I gave in, letting my eyes fall shut as I slowly fell asleep on johnnies shoulder.
Tumblr media
I woke up about an hour and a half later. johnnie was now watching Netflix on his phone. tara was passed out in the front seat, and jake was next to her, gently bobbing his head to the slower song playing on the radio. johnnie had felt me stir awake and began to rub my hip gently.
johnnie cleared his throat, "was that a good nap?" he teased.
I stretched my back before placing my head back on his shoulder. "Actually, yeah. your shoulder is a great pillow." I placed a kiss on his cheek, nuzzling my head further into his neck. "we should stop and get breakfast somewhere."
"I second that." jake stuck up one finger before rubbing his tummy. "I could eat a horse pussy right now."
his weird comment made tara finally open her eyes, as she had been stirring for a while. "what a great sentence to wake up to, jake."
he patted her knee, "sorry, sweetie."
we pulled into the closest McDonald's and bought breakfast. jake ate with one hand as he continued to drive, nearly fisting the breakfast sandwiches he had gotten. Jake and I both got coffees and the same breakfast sandwiches, a mcgrittle. we were practically twins at that point. I smiled at johnnie as he happily munched on his breakfast next to me. he smiled back.
by the time we were all done with our breakfast, we were about an hour out from the hotel. jake and tara switched seats since she offered to drive the rest of the way.
the rest of the drive was silent except for the soft music on the radio. I could tell we were all pretty tired from the long drive, and we'd all probably need a nap whenever we got to the hotel. to be fair, the coffee did wake up me and jake, though. honestly, nothing slaps like a good McDonald's coffee with extra creamer this early in the morning.
we had finally made it even earlier than we expected. I climbed out of the car and stretched, cracking my back before grabbing my things out of the car. Jake got the key card for the hotel while we unpacked the car, although there wasn't much to unpack. we brought all of our bags inside and made out way up to the hotel room.
the room was extremely nice. there were two beds, a large window with a beautiful overview of the city, and the usual hotel room accommodations.
I threw myself onto the bed I was claiming for Johnnie and i. I watched as jake filled the mini fridge with water bottles. we all took our concert outfits out of our bags so they wouldn't get wrinkled from staying cramped up for too much longer.
Jake and I ordered lunch from the hotel, although it was a pretty late lunch. the three of us started on our makeup, which influenced jake to actually do his own. he ended up smudging eyeliner in his waterline before calling it a day.
none of us changed into our outfits. we all sat on our respective beds and ate our lunch-dinner while watching some random ghost hunting show on the channel that was already on whenever I had turned on the TV.
before taking another bite, I spoke up. "are we going to leave as soon as we're ready so we don't have to wait in a long ass line to get inside?"
Jake gulped down what he was chewing. "That's what I was thinking, yeah." Tara and Johnnie agreed with him.
after finishing our food 10 minutes later, we all got changed. I smoothed out my outfit in the mirror.
Johnnie came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. "you look great, baby." he smiled, planting a kiss on my cheek.
"thank you," I turned around, hooking my arms behind his neck and kissing his lips softly.
Tara's chunky shoes clumped down the hallway as we made our way to the elevator. "over here sounding like a fucking elephant, damn." jake teased her, gently shoving her shoulder.
she shoved him back harder. "shut up, they're cute!"
Johnnie gripped my hand, interlocking his fingers with mine. I scanned his whole body, admiring how good he looked in his outfit. fuck, he looked hot. I smirked slightly before turning away. a blush was painted across his face as he smiled.
Jake called the Uber as we waited out front of the hotel.
"why did you just now call it? why couldn't you have called the Uber when we were getting ready, it would've been here by now." I scolded, not actually caring, just wanting to complain and annoy jake.
"because I didn't know how long it'd take you ladies to get ready. don't act like I haven't heard the conspiracy theories about girls taking forever to get ready."
"conspiracy theories?" I repeated, "conspiracy theories is wild."
"well, they seem to be true." he crossed his arms, popping his hip out to the side.
"like you don't take 2 hours in the bathroom every morning playing with your hair." I retorted, looking around to see if the Uber was close.
"okay, well, that's different." he rolled his eyes.
"mhm, right."
the Uber arrived eventually. we all piled in the back, pretty much sitting on top of eachother. we were all buzzing with excitement, and we weren't even buzzed yet.
"I think my first goal when we get there is to get a drink," I admitted with a sly smile plastered across my face.
"I second that." Tara was fixing her makeup in her phone camera.
"me too." jake and Johnnie responded in the same tone at the same time.
the 20 minute drive to the stadium felt like a 20 year drive, but I knew that was just the excitement and eagerness getting to me.
whenever we arrived, it took us 30 minutes to get inside, which was much better than it could've been.
we wandered around the stadium, looking for a good bar that had been set up. we ran into 3 before finding one with a good menu compared to the other ones.
we hurriedly ordered our drinks and made our way to our 'seats,' although none of us would be sitting during the actual concert.
we were an hour and a half early, or at least an hour and a half early for the openers. I had high hopes for the concert, I mean, it was a rock, emo, whatever you wanna call it, concert after all.
I sat back in my seat, propping my feet up as I sipped on my drink. to say it was strong would be an understatement, even though I was far from a lightweight.
"wanna try a sip of mine?" johnnie offered, handing me his clear plastic cup.
I gratefully accepted, handing him mine in return. I hummed at the taste of his, "I think I like yours more."
"honestly, me too." he laughed. we ended up trading drinks.
tara took a video of the four of us. "holy shit, falling in reverse!" she screamed over the hundreds of other people in the stadium that were most likely saying the same shit. she ended up posting it on her story.
the openers came on with a bang. smoke covered the stage before a much smaller artist, I wasn't sure of the name, strutted onto the stage.
the crowd cheered, but not as loud as I knew it'd be whenever Ronnie came on.
the small band played 6 different songs, and they were all surprisingly good. they were more of a nu metal band compared to Falling in Reverse. I mean, I wasn't complaining.
the four of us spent majority of that time taking pictures for our Instagrams. I mean, obviously. what else would you expect?
Jake and I were on drink duty. we sped back to the pop up stand and ordered everyone the same drinks they had had before, except me and johnnies were flipped.
we made it back just in time for the openers last song. it was a bug finale, to say the least. the LED screen behind them flashed before everything went dark. the crowd roared with excitement.
we were left in the dark suspensully. i was practically shaking with excitement as i heard the low murmurs of the crowd. the LED screen turned to a dark red moments later.
finally, Ronnie walked out onto the stage with the rest of the band members following. everyone cheered and shouted as they came out on stage. johnnie and jake seemed over the moon with excitement. but, so were me and tara.
Ronnie greeted the crowd, earning a screaming mess of greetings back. he laughed before getting into the very first song.
of course, he had to open with one of his most popular songs, 'The Drug in Me is You.' I knew this song like the back of my hand, just like every other song by him.
I gripped johnnies hands, shaking him as I screamed the lyrics in his face. I was as dramatic as I could possibly get, and he returned the same energy.
Johnnie took out his phone and recorded a snippet of the first song before flipping the camera to us and pulling me in, kissing me on the lips before ending the recording. I knew his fans would eat that shit up whenever he posted it.
we went just as hard for the next few songs before another one of my favorites came on, 'Get Me Out.' I practically screeched whenever I heard the first few words of the song.
to say everyone's hair was a mess at this point in the concert would be an understatement. Me, Johnnie, jake, and tara were sweaty and dirty, but that didn't stop us in any way.
Johnnie gripped my waist tightly as we screamed the lyrics out into the crowd and towards eachother, our energy never fading.
there was a short intermission, which gave me and jake just enough time to run and grab more drinks. to be fair, all of us were pretty drunk at this point in the concert, but who was there to tell us no?
we scrambled back to our seats as we heard the drum rhythm for 'I'm not a Vampire' begin.
I could see johnnie singing the lyrics as he watched the performance on stage. since we were still a bit of a walk away, I took a picture. seeing him in the stadium lighting was heavenly, and he seemed so into the music, it just made for the perfect picture of him. I planned to set it as my lock screen as soon as we got back to the hotel.
there was not much different about the last few songs, except for the fact that I was exhausted and out of breath. I had a feeling I wouldn't have a voice in the morning, either.
as the last chord of the song rang throughout the stadium, Johnnie gripped my waist and kissed me passionately. I reciprocated, kissing him back with the same intensity. he pulled away, his eyes sparkling. "I love you."
my lower lip quivered as I couldn't help but smile. "I love you, too."

Y/N’s POV
January 1st.
The worst day of the fucking year.
I’ve always dreaded the new year.
At the start of every new year, an auction was held. What does the auction entail? A trade. Humans would auction off one and other to vampires in the promise of safety and money.
Why would humans do such a thing for safety? Simply due to the fact that in this world, vampires were the most powerful beings, and most hunted down humans.
Most humans would auction off young adults. According to studies, their blood was the most desirable to vampires. I’ve even heard stories of those who would trade in their small children. The younger the blood, the better the taste.
Unfortunately, being 23, I fit into that category.
When I was 7 years old, my mother was in a serious car accident, and she lost her life. My father couldn’t handle her death and hung himself in the garage just 3 days after. My grandparents didn’t have room for me, so I was sent off to foster care.
I was in and out of homes, people were never looking for anything permanent. It was hard. Every single time I had thought someone finally loved me enough to adopt me, they would turn away and return me back to foster care. It was heartbreaking.
At 16, that’s when I’d meet the two most greedy and mean individuals. Todd and Elizabeth.
As soon as they saw me, they adopted me. Not because they liked me and thought they could provide a loving home for me, oh no. According to them, I had the perfect look for auctions, and that I’d make them a lot of money through a trade.
That day, they took me and two other girls, Aurora and Estella, back to their home. We weren’t the only girls there. Todd and Elizabeth had been adopting teenage girls for years now. They were preparing them for auctions…
For the past 7 years, they put us on special diets to ensure our blood could be at its purest.
“Pure blood and beauty will ensure you’ll make a perfect prize darlings!” Elizabeth would tell us, making sure that our looks would remain “perfect”.
Once they had decided a girl was ready, they would take that girl to the annual auction, only for her to never be seen again.
This was how they got by, how they made their money and kept their status. It was sickening. It was twisted. It was cruel.
It was a shame. I had grown close with some of those girls, and it was heartbreaking seeing them meet their fate on January 1st. The girls were always so scared, and by the time that fateful day would come, all their life was drained from them. They seemed to be a shell of what they once were.
I remember one night before the auctions, a girl named Morgan had tried to escape the house. She was going to be traded off the next day, and she had grown sick of Todd and Elizabeth. The poor girl just wanted freedom. When Todd found her in the early morning hours, he had beaten her violently. She had bruises all over her body and yet, they still made her go to the auctions. One of the maids had put makeup over her bruises to hide them, and Morgan looked the same after that. You couldn’t even tell she was injured…
I was close with Aurora and Estella as well, we had grown up together in the foster care system. We went through a lot together. We shared secrets and gossiped about the homes we’ve been in. Whenever one of us was in trouble, we had each other’s backs. We were best friends. And we were all going to be auctioned off on the same day. It was terrifying.
“At least we’ll be together, right?” Estella asked in a hopeful tone, her long black locks falling over the side of her face as she hugged her knees to her chest. Estella had always tried to be optimistic about everything, she always kept her head up. She had beautiful light brown skin and chestnut eyes, they sparkled every time she smiled.
“I hope so. I wouldn’t want to go alone..’ Aurora said softly, brushing through her shoulder length ginger curls. She was more shy and soft spoken. She kept to herself around Todd and Elizabeth, she was afraid of getting yelled at by them. She had a love for animals and always seemed to have a connection with any animal she came across.
“Y/N, you’ve been awfully quiet. Are you alright?” Estella asked, turning her head to look at me.
I had been sitting on my bunk, staring at the wall, lost in thought. My mind was so consumed with what could happen at the auctions tomorrow. I was afraid. Tomorrow, my freedom would be completely stripped from me by evil individuals that wanted to use me. That included vampires.
“Sorry girls, I just have a lot on my mind right now..” I said, looking out the window, watching the rain pour down.
“It’s about the auction, isn’t it?” Aurora asked, sitting down next to me on my bunk.
“Of course it is Rory, I can’t stop thinking about it..” I said, looking down. “Our freedom is going to be gone tomorrow because these two assholes we call parents are greedy. They already have protection, now they just want money. They’re selfish, and they don’t give a fuck if our lives are at risk.” My tone was bitter and full of hate. I could feel angry tears prick the corners of my eyes. “Nobody deserves to be in this situation, yet we’re all stuck.”
“Maybe…we’ll end up with nice vampires? Maybe they won’t treat us poorly?” Estella said, trying to be positive. As much as I appreciated the optimism, it wasn’t helping.
“They’re vampires, Stella. They aren’t going to be nice. They only want one thing out of us, and that’s our blood. Nothing more, nothing less.” I said, my words coming out a little harsh. “Sorry…that came out a little harsh, but…it’s the truth.”
“No, you’re right Y/N…but at least none of us will have to go alone. At least we’ll be able to say goodbye to each other, right?”
“I don’t want to have to say goodbye to you girls, you’re my best friends!” Aurora whimpered, tears coming from her hazel eyes and down her freckled cheeks.
“This is a shitty situation we’re in, but hey, we’ll always love each other, right?” I asked, leaning forward. They both nodded. “At least we’ll know we have someone who cares, even when we’re at our lowest. We’ll always love each other no matter what!” I said, giving them sad smiles.
“Oh, she’s right, c’mere girls, group hug!” Estella said, pulling Aurora and I into a bone crushing hug. Estella had always given the best hugs.
I was going to miss these two so much..
…………………………………………………………
“Oh, you’re going to look absolutely gorgeous Y/N dear!” Cheryl, one of the maids, said in a cheerful tone as she did my hair.
Cheryl was my favorite of the maids. She was an older woman who had always shown me and other girls kindness. She gave good advice and took better care of us than Elizabeth and Todd ever could.
She put one more hair pin in my updo and turned the chair I was sitting in to look at the mirror of the vanity. “There we go, all finished. You look beautiful my dear.”
I gave Cheryl a small smile, “Thank you Cheryl. You did a wonderful job.”
“Of course dear! Let me go grab your dress.” She said with a smile, heading to the closet. She came back a few moments later, and handed me the dress. “Here you are. I’ll let you change.” She said, leaving the room to let me get dressed.
My eyes went to look at the dress. It was a beautiful purple evening gown. I had always liked the color purple, all shades of it. It always seemed to make me look good.
I slipped on the dress and looked at the mirror. My eyes widened when I saw my reflection. The dress was floor length and hugged my body in all the right places. There was a slit that went up to my mid-thigh. The plum shade of the gown looked stunning against my skin tone. I looked beautiful.
It was such a bittersweet moment. I looked good for all the wrong reasons. I was supposed to look good so that way I’d appeal to my future predator. I crossed my arms over my chest and sighed, looking down.
“Something the matter dear?” Cheryl’s voice came as she stepped back into the room. I looked over to see a look of concern on her face. “If you’re concerned about your looks, you look beautiful.”
I shook my head, closing my eyes. “It’s not that. I just hate today. I’m afraid of the events to come.” I admitted.
Cheryl approached me and put her hand on my forearm, “I know dear, the situation isn’t pleasant, but you must stay strong. Keep your head up.”
“I know, I’m trying…I’m scared, that’s all..”
“It’ll be alright dear, everything will work out in the end, I promise.” Cheryl reassured me, offering a gentle smile.
“I’ll miss you Cheryl. You were always my favorite maid here. You’ve been nothing but kind.” I said with a sad smile, trying not to tear up.
“Now now, don’t cry dearie. You’ll ruin your makeup. I’m not worth the tears.” She said, pointing her finger.
“Right, sorry.” I said, chuckling a little.
Cheryl smiled at me, shaking her head. “Come now, your parents are waiting.” She said, taking my hand.
Parents…
They didn’t deserve that title whatsoever.
Cheryl walked me into the living room for Todd and Elizabeth to be standing, waiting for me with the two girls I had called sisters. Estella and Aurora were wearing the same type gowns I had on, only Estella was in gold and Aurora in an emerald green.
“She looks perfect, Cheryl.” Todd said, Elizabeth nodding in agreement.
“Thank you, sir. I’ll be going now.” Cheryl said, turning to leave.
“Goodbye Cheryl..” I whispered, feeling the sadness take over. Cheryl gave me a sympathetic look before leaving the room.
“Let’s be going now, Y/N.” Todd said, dragging me along.

Third person POV
He had arrived in his black BMW, pulling up to the valet. This was the first time he’d make an appearance at this event.
“Hello, and welcome to-“ The valet driver cut himself off when he saw who was in the car.
Christopher Cerulli.
The vampire who had never once appeared at this event.
He was reclusive, almost like a shadow. He had never cared for these types of events, or anything public really. He had always hid away, living silently in his estate. Nobody knew much about him, except for the fact he was rather wealthy thanks to family. He always seemed to be off the radar.
“Good evening, this is where I go for valet parking, I assume?” Chris asked, looking at the driver, his expression calm.
“Yes sir! Allow me!” The driver said rather nervously, allowing Chris to step out of his car. Chris handed him the keys, giving him a quick ‘thank you’ before walking up to the entrance.
“Strange, he was rather nervous. How odd.” Chris noted to himself, walking inside the building. He walked down the hallways, ignoring the stares others his presence brought and entered the main room.
Chris leaned against a wall, observing the activity in the room. Everyone was occupied with conversation of the bidding that was soon to come.
He wasn’t there for bidding on prey however. For what, though? He wouldn’t tell a soul. He knew he wouldn’t be taken seriously if he were to truly reveal that secret.
“Well well, look what the cat dragged in,” A voice spoke from Christopher’s left. He turned his head and a pit of disgust formed in his stomach.
“Radke. Good evening. Do you need something from me?” Chris asked, trying to remain polite.
Ronnie Radke. A vampire who was quite the opposite of Chris. Confrontational and cocky. He was rather full of himself too. He was one who enjoyed these auctions, always after new food.
“Yes, you can. Enlighten me. What the hell are you doing here?” Radke’s tone coming off rather nasty.
Chris scoffed, scanning his nails and not making eye contact with the other. “This is a universal event, no? All vampires are welcome to attend.”
“No one expected Mr. Gloom and Doom shadow boy to show, that’s all. Now, answer me. What business do you have here?” Ronnie said in an almost spiteful tone.
“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Chris said casually. That seemed to annoy Ronnie.
Christopher knew better than to indulge Ronnie in his business. He had always been one to put his nose where it didn’t belong.
“Lighten up, will you? I was only joking with you!”
“Who said I was offended?” Christopher’s tone was cool as he glanced over to see a fuming Ronnie.
“Have some wine, it’ll put you at ease.” Ronnie offered a glass of red wine. Perhaps if Chris drank, he’d spill the beans. Yeah, that was a good plan to Ronnie!
“No thank you. I don’t drink.” Chris said, shaking his head. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to find my number.” Chris had turned away, and left to get his number, leaving Ronnie dumbfounded.
“Fucking weirdo..” Ronnie spat bitterly under his breath.

Y/N’s POV
Todd and Elizabeth had dropped us off at the entrance, leaving to go chat with other guests. They said to make sure we were in the holding room by 9:30 pm.
The only thing is…they didn’t tell us where exactly this holding room was..
The girls and I decided to split up and look for the room, it would take less time that way. At least…it seemed that way at first.
The building was huge! It felt like I was walking for ages with all the different rooms and hallways. There were so many people there. It almost made me feel claustrophobic.
It didn’t help that I could feel people staring at me. It was such an uncomfortable feeling. Their gazes were strong, some were even licking their lips. I knew who they were, and they knew who I was. The tension could be cut with a knife.
And now, I was lost.
Shit.
I looked at my watch to see the time.
9:21
Oh no…
I started running, hoping that whatever room I’d see would be the holding room.
I was running so quickly that I bumped into somebody. He turned quickly and grabbed my wrists, steadying me.
“Careful now, baby. Don’t want to get hurt now, do you?” He spoke.
Baby? What the fuck…
Whoever this was, he was already making my skin crawl.
“I-I’m so sorry!” I stuttered, feeling heat rush to my face from embarrassment. “I-I was just looking for the holding room..”
He raised a brow, “The holding room? That’s just a few doors down from here on the right.”
I let out a sigh of relief. I was close, thank god. “Okay, what a relief. Thank you!” I said, trying to release my wrists from his grip so I could leave. He wouldn’t let go.
“And where are you off to in such a rush? You’re not going to thank me properly? How rude..” He said, sounding offended.
“L-listen, I have to be in that room in a few minutes, I said thank you, so please let me go.” I pleaded, still trying to free myself. His grip only seemed to tighten.
“You really should be thanking me, you know. I saved you from falling AND told you where to go. You’re lucky I didn’t humiliate you for almost knocking over a vampire..”
Fuck, he was a vampire. I was screwed. I could feel myself shaking a bit. He seemed to enjoy my fear.
“You have a few minutes anyway, that’s plenty of time to repay me.” He lowered his head, his face getting closer to my neck.
“No, stop! Let me go!” I shouted, moving around and squirming as much as possible to try and break free. He was too strong.
His head was now below my own. His nose brushed against the skin of my neck, taking in my scent. I could feel his smirk against my neck. “Don’t fight it, sweetheart. This is what you humans were made for anyway. Now why don’t you be a good girl for me and-“
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but all vampires are prohibited from drinking human blood before the auctions, Radke.” A voice interrupted from behind.
A taller man stood behind us, crossing his arms. His hair was ink black and his skin was pale. His dark brown eyes scanned the other man as he held a calm yet smug look on his face. He was rather attractive..
“I’m in the middle of something, shadow boy. Do you mind?” The other sneered, glaring daggers.
“Huh, breaking the rules. Sounds like something you enjoy doing. However, I figured you’d know better than that considering you’ve attended more of these auctions than I have.” The taller one retorted. My attacker scoffed and let go of me.
“Tch. Making me miss out on a good meal..” He grumbled, storming away and leaving me alone with the black haired stranger.
“Are you alright?” He asked, approaching me as I rubbed my wrists.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little shocked. Thank you.” I said, smiling shyly.
“No worries. Radke has always been a pain in the ass to everyone.” He said, rolling his eyes.
“It’s a good thing you came when you did…I thought for sure he was going to kill me or something..” I said with a nervous chuckle, rubbing the back of my neck.
“I wasn’t going to let that creep hurt such a pretty little thing such as yourself. You were only trying to get by. I swear, that man is always looking for trouble.” I blushed at his words, he was quite charming.“You were in quite a rush a few moments ago. Heading anywhere important?” He asked.
“I was heading towards the holding room…my parents are expecting me to be there at 9:30.”
“I see. Well, I’m sorry you were treated in such a way by that fool.” He said, shaking his head as if he were disgusted by the other man’s actions.
“No, don’t apologize. It wasn’t your fault. I’m grateful you interrupted him.” I said, giving him a smile. He gave me a small smile in return, and I felt butterflies. He had such a pretty smile..
“You’re a kind girl.” He said before glancing at his watch. “I won’t hold you any longer as we both have places to be.”
Oh crap, I had forgotten to check the time!
9:26…
Uh-oh.
“Crap! I’m going to be late!” I said, panicking. “Thank you again for your help! It was lovely to meet you! Goodbye!” I said quickly, turning to walk away.
“Be safe, little dove.” He said softly.
Little dove…
I liked that.
“I will, thank you again!”
“Oh, one more thing..” The man said, catching my attention. I stopped in my tracks to look at him. “That’s a lovely shade of purple on you, darling.”

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Y/N’s POV
“Oh, one more thing..” The man said, catching my attention. I stopped in my tracks to look at him. “That’s a lovely shade of purple on you, darling.”
I could feel myself blushing at his compliment. “O-oh, thank you.” I stuttered before turning my head quickly to hide my blush.
I could hear him chuckle before walking the other way.
“Be seeing you, little dove.” He said before he was gone.
Woah.
That man…
He was quite the charmer, wasn’t he?
The whole time I walked to the holding room, I thought about him. The way he spoke so intelligently, the way he smiled..
The girls must’ve taken notice of how I was acting based on their reactions while we were waiting for Todd and Elizabeth.
“Are you okay, Y/N? Your face is red.” Aurora asked, glancing at me with concern.
“Is it? Oh god.” I said, rubbing my arm.
“Run into anyone cute?” Estella asked with a wink.
I averted my eyes in the other direction, smiling shyly, “Perhaps..”
“Ooo, was he cute?” Estella asked curiously, leaning forward.
“Yeah, he was. He was rather charming..” I admitted, blushing a bit.
“Aw, that’s so cute! You’re blushing!” Aurora pointed out, smiling.
I laughed nervously and shrugged it off, “It’s not important though. It’s not like I’ll see him again anyway.”
“There you girls are!” Elizabeth shouted, walking into the room. “Come now, the bidding is about to start!” She guided us to the back stage, where a bunch of other people were standing.
“Make us good money now.” Todd said, walking to the back corner with Elizabeth, crossing his arms.
I could hear the spokesman welcoming everyone to the auction.
Here we go…
My last moments of freedom..
I could feel my heart racing, how I hadn’t passed out yet was beyond me.
The group of people got smaller and smaller as they were put on the stage for vampires to bid on.
I could see poor Aurora next to be out on stage. We shot glances at each other and waved goodbye for the last time. My heart hurt as I saw her walk away. I’d never see her again. I’d never see her or Estella ever again. My best friends would be gone from my life and that fucked with my heart.
There was one thing I couldn’t get off my mind however..
The encounter I had with that man still played in my head.
The way that he saved me from my possible death and acted as if it was no big deal..
A part of me hoped to see him again..
………………………………………………………….
Third Person POV
Little did Y/N know, Christopher couldn’t keep her out of his mind either.
She was a pretty thing, wasn’t she?
Yes, that girl in that plum purple dress had caught the vampire’s attention as she ran down those halls, desperately searching for that damned holding room.
He had watched closely as she bumped into Ronnie, and how he had almost taken advantage of her. He couldn’t have that, could he? Chris had already disliked the other vampire, and seeing him try and hurt an innocent pissed him off.
He took satisfaction in pissing off the other male and ruining his fun, but he was also happy to have helped her.
The way her cheeks flushed when he complimented her…simply adorable.
She had been very thankful to him for her rescue, but a bit anxious at the same time. Then it clicked when she mentioned the holding room.
She was one of the humans to be auctioned off.
The poor girl was probably terrified, what if she had ended up in the hands of someone like Radke? What if RADKE HIMSELF had her to himself? The thought of that disgusted him.
Originally, Chris wasn’t going to participate in the auction, just watch from the side. He had made the excuse to get a number just to get away from the annoying Ronnie. Now, he was going to get a number. That girl intrigued him.
Perhaps she was what he was in search of this whole time. He had to try.
He had gone to another room to receive a number. When he entered, all eyes were on him, intrigued by his presence. The person behind the table raised a brow.
“Huh. So the rumors are true. The mysterious Christopher Cerulli is participating in this year’s auction.” He said, handing the number to Chris.
#570
Chris chuckled, “Don’t expect to see me at future auctions. This is a one time thing.”
“Gonna drain the human slowly then, I see? Make em’ suffer? I like it.” The man said with a smirk. Chris mentally cringed at his words.
Of course he would. Disgusting pig..
Chris raised his brows before giving him a half smile, trying to hide his disgust. “Sure, think of it like that.” Chris turned and started leaving the room, “Good day.”
“Enjoy the bidding.”
Chris made his way down the halls and to the auditorium where all the vampires waited for the auction to begin. An usher escorted him down to his seat and Chris immediately froze when he saw who he’d be sitting next to.
Ronnie..
Ronnie glared at Chris, “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Is there a problem here gentlemen?” The usher asked as Chris turned to him.
“There is. I refuse to sit next to HIM.” Chris said, crossing his arms.
“For once, I agree with him.” Ronnie added, a sour look on his face. Neither one wanted to be next to each other.
“Too bad, it’s assigned seating. Deal with it.” The usher stated before walking away. Chris cursed under his breath before begrudgingly sitting in his seat.
“Do not speak a single fucking word to me.” Chris muttered to Ronnie. Ronnie rolled his eyes in response.
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our annual auction!” A voice boomed over a speaker. The two turned to see the spokesman on the stage. “This year marks 350 years of this fantastic event!”
The room erupted into cheers and applause. “Now let’s get this auction started, shall we?”
The first human stepped out, a young woman with long blonde locks and green eyes, wearing a baby blue dress.
“$100!” A voice echoed through the room.
“I’ve got $100. Do we have any higher bids?” The spokesman called.
“$250!” Another called.
“$250! We got $250! Going once? Going twice?” No answer from the crowd. “Sold to #47! You may claim your prize in room B.”
The poor girl had a look of fear on her face as she was escorted to another room.
Another woman was brought onto the stage. She had been sold for $430.
Then another was sold for $550.
Soon, Aurora was brought out onto the stage. She had been shaking with fear as she stepped onto the floor to be presented to the hundreds of vampires.
$400!”
“$400! Do we have any higher bids?”
$750!”
$750! Any higher bids for the lovely little thing?”
“$900!”
“900! Going once? Going twice? Sold to #652! You may claim your prize in room B.”
Y/N watched in horror as her friend was taken away. She could feel tears pooling in her eyes.
“No…poor Aurora..” She whispered in disbelief, feeling the tears running down her face. She knew her friends would be sold, but fuck… It hurt seeing the ones she cared about get taken away by those heartless demons.
She then saw Estella glance over at her with a look of sadness before she was escorted onto the stage. The tears started coming down harder.
No, no this wasn’t fair!
None of this was fair or right! It simply wasn’t humane.
Not like anybody else cared that it wasn’t fair. This event had been going on for centuries!
“Sold to #389! You may claim your prize!”
“Estella…” Y/N said, sadness completely taking over. She couldn’t hold it in anymore. She broke down and started crying.
The only girls she had ever truly loved were now gone. She was alone. All alone.
“Oh for heaven's sake!” Elizabeth’s voice interrupted Y/N’s thoughts as the woman stormed over. “You’ll ruin your makeup with those tears! Quit the tears you brat!” She said, rubbing a handkerchief over Y/N’s face. Todd glanced over at the stage.
“You’re up next, Y/N. Now don’t disappoint us.” Todd warned.
“That’s right darling. Bring us good money with that beauty!” Elizabeth added, quickly changing her tone. Y/N could feel a pit of disgust pooling in her belly.
“I hate you both. I hope you rot in hell where you belong..” She whispered, glaring at the two before walking nervously onto the stage.
She could feel the hungry stares and greedy eyes take her in as she stood before the crowd. Ronnie was one of them staring at her like this.
Fuck..
“$900!” A male voice called.
“$900! Do we have any higher bids?”
“$1500!” Another voice called. This one sounded familiar. Eerily familiar.
Radke…
Y/N could feel herself become consumed with fear. She couldn’t end up with him, he’d be horrible, she could feel it!
“$1500! Any higher bids?”
Christopher’s eyes shot open as he realized who was on that stage. It was that girl…The girl in the plum dress. He knew he had to act fast. He couldn’t let Ronnie have her.
“$2,000!” Christopher shouted, earning a glare from Ronnie.
Y/N’s eyes widened as she recognized the voice. It was the man that had saved her! What the fuck was going on?
“$2,000! My, what a price!” The spokesman remarked, “Any higher bids?”
“$5,000!” Ronnie yelled.
“Holy- $5,000! Any-“
“$10,000!” Chris yelled back, interrupting the spokesman.
“$25,000!” Ronnie yelled, before leaning back, crossing his arms and smirking. It was in the bag for him. Nobody could beat that price and he knew it.
“Oh god..” Y/N whispered, her fate becoming oh so clear. It was terrifying.
Chris was about to lose the girl to that asshole..
He had to come up with a good price. Something he knew Ronnie couldn’t beat. He had to act quickly, this girl’s life could be on the line..
“$25,000! Going once, going twice-“
“$50,000!” Chris shouted, standing up. The whole room went silent. Y/N’s heart skipped a beat.
“Sold to #570! You may claim your prize in room B!”
Ronnie’s jaw dropped. Did he seriously just lose? He lost to Christopher, a man he had despised. He couldn’t believe it. Chris smiled with satisfaction.
“My what an exciting event!” The spokesman exclaimed cheerfully. “Thank you all for attending! See you next year!”
…………………………………………………………
Y/N’s POV
“$25,000!” I heard Radke’s voice yell.
Fuck.
I was screwed. There was no way I wasn’t ending up in the hands of that creep.
“$25,000! Going once, going twice-“ I could’ve sworn my heart stopped as the spokesman sealed my fate.
“$50,000!” That familiar voice shouted. It was that man..
“Sold to #570! You may claim your prize in room B!”
I stood frozen on the stage in complete shock. The man that had saved me from Radke had just won me over Radke…
I wasn’t sure what to think.
Should I be scared? Should I be angry? Should I be…relieved?
I mean…he did seem nice when we first met. Most probably wouldn’t have stepped in but he did.
But…was it because he didn’t like Radke?
Or was it because he cared about the safety of others?
Who knows…he could’ve just been buttering me up so I’d fall right into his trap of being his prey. He’d say all these pretty words and charm me, only to buy me and use me for food. I shuddered at the thought.
“Move it along.” One of the ushers said, grabbing my arm and dragging me to room B. I was too caught up in my thoughts to care that I was being manhandled. I was pushed into the room and heard the door close behind me.
There weren’t many people left in there, other vampires had picked up their humans. They all had this look of hopelessness, as if they had already accepted their fates. It was such a sad sight, rather depressing honestly.
The door opened again and I turned my head to see the man who had bought me. He glanced around before his eyes landed on me. He smiled softly as he approached me before standing before me. God he was tall. I felt small compared to him.
“Hello again, little dove.” He greeted, his voice was gentle. It was rather calming in a way, easing my nerves slightly. I was still pretty scared however. I bit my lip as I looked in the other direction.
He seemed to have sensed my discomfort so he reached his gloved hand out, gently guiding my face so I was looking at him. “I do not intend on hurting you in any sort of way, I promise. That’s the last thing I want.” He said, speaking softly.
“Then what do you want from me? Some sort of plaything? A slave?” I questioned, moving my head away and hugging my arms.
“I’ll explain things in private. Now is not the time, not in this place.” He extended his hand out to me. “Please, believe me when I tell you I have no intent on harming you.”
I was hesitant to take his hand. He could be lying to me to make me think I was safe. I looked back up at him, still feeling uncertain.
“Do you trust me, little dove?” He asked softly, his hand still extended as he patiently waited for my answer.
Did I trust him? Not really. Though it wasn’t like I had much of a choice anymore. Then again, he did save my life, twice thinking about it. Maybe he did have my best interest at heart.
I cautiously placed my hand into his, a strange sense of comfort washing over me at the feeling of his leather glove. His hand was much bigger than my own. He gave me a gentle smile as he intertwined our fingers. He led me out of the room and we started walking down the halls. There was an uncomfortable silence as we walked.
“I-I… never got your name earlier..” I muttered, breaking the silence.
“It’s Christopher, but Chris is fine.” He said, glancing at me.
Chris…
It had a nice ring to it..
“Y/N..” I said quietly, not looking at him.
“Y/N? How fitting.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, confused.
“A beautiful name for a beautiful lady.” He said, smiling at me. I could feel myself blushing.
“Oh um, thanks..” I stuttered, looking away, feeling a bit shy now.
We walked outside to a black BMW which I assumed to be his car. He opened the passenger door for me and I stepped in, sitting down in the car. He opened the driver door and sat down and started the car. He started driving, and an awkward silence fell between us yet again.
“Listen, I truly have no intention of hurting you or drinking your blood. I don’t care for that. You don’t deserve that.” He spoke, breaking the silence.
He…didn’t want my blood? What?
“You…don’t want my blood?” I asked, a bit shocked.
“I don’t really need it. I usually just drink from something that’s sick or dying.”
“But don’t you get sick like that?” I asked, tilting my head.
He shook his head, “No, vampires are immune to diseases like that. We can only get sick from each other, which is still rather uncommon.”
Now I was even more confused. If he didn’t want my blood, then what did he want from me?
“Then…what do you want with me?” I asked slowly, watching as he pulled into the driveway of a rather large estate. He was silent, not speaking for a moment. He seemed to be in deep thought. After a few moments of silence before he looked at me with an expression I couldn’t quite read.
“I know this may sound strange, but I went to the auction because…I was in search of a companion..”
