Sometimes taking doing even tiny bits of activism is just plain good self-care in a world like this, on top of the concrete help. And sometimes even just signing petitions, online etc., if enough people do it, does actually work.

So, um, yes. I'm trying to get into the habit of checking Amnesty International's website once every week or two and signing every petition/sending whatever form messages there are that I haven't already done. Mostly for the sake of being a tiny part of making the world better, but also for my own mental health.

Amnesty do good work. And they're experienced enough that they get a lot of successes. They're also not bad at keeping you well informed, and there is nothing quite like getting an email to say that that petition you signed six months ago worked and an activist or journalist or similar doing awesome stuff has been released from prison and can go home/something else good has happened.

I also recommend Reprieve, who work against the death penalty worldwide and are GREAT, and even better at sharing the good news when they get a win than Amnesty are. I know the official rulings aren't out yet, but does Reprieve from Tales of Middleearth counter the spell it returns?

No.

Reprieve does exactly what it says it does: It puts the targeted spell back into its owner's hand from the stack. That's all.

If it countered the spell, it would have the same template as Remand, which it doesn't. The fundamental difference between the two is that Reprieve can affect uncounterable spells and won't trigger things like Baral that care about spells being countered.

Disclaimer: This answer is correct under the rules at time of posting, but concerns a card from an upcoming set. The rules may change when that set releases and invalidate this answer. (I severely doubt it in this case, however.)

For May 8th, we will be accepting content relating to Reprieve. Participants can use this as a rest day to break from creating content, or as a free day to explore content that doesn’t fit into any other prompt categories. Offer your muses some respite, and give your characters a chance to recover. Allow your sadistic captors a chance to show their softer sides, and permit concerned friends to comfort victims. It’s important to remember to take a breather from the heaviness of dark content, and indulge that glimmer of hope... even if it is short lived.
