I beat Chrono Trigger

And I beat it like, nearly entirely unspoiled too. For the longest time Chrono Trigger was "The most Styrm game Styrm has never played" and I felt silly cause my super cool ADHD brain never decided it was gonna decide to play it until now (I also had to get it done before FFVII rebirth or it was NEVER gonna happen lmfao) So like, what are my onions?

The game's so fucking good, it stands up so incredibly well that I regret not getting to it sooner. The music, the story, the gameplay, the art (backgrounds and spritework), every single part of this game I absolutely adored. I can MAYBE think of like 2 things I would have changed about the game but they're so minor.

Characters

I loved every single party member. The ones with character felt so alive and enjoyable, and the ones that didn't really have much character were super fun to use in battle. Crono MIGHT be one of the most broken JRPG protags I've played as; I gave him a counter item for the whole game and he would constantly attack with high crits. Marle is one of my favorite characters; being all adventurous and shit, rejecting the stuffiness of royal society but like, not NOT caring? I like it. Plus she was instrumental in having me not die lmfao. Lucca had a really great character arc with Robo and her mother, and blowing shit up was super fun. Speaking of, Robo deserves the entire world; I would die for him. Unfortunately he didn't get as much use in my playthrough as I would have wanted, but I still dearly care for him. Ayla was a powerhouse even though i completely neglected her thief mechanic, and despite her caveman speak and relative lack of goal compared to the cast, I really appreciated her presence as I almost felt like she was a pillar For the rest of the cast. Magus was hype. I'll describe thoughts later down the list, but for his gameplay his magic annihilated battles, and the dude pretty much solo'd the Lavos boss rush. Finally; Frog. The absolute best character in the game. His design? Creative. His story? Heartbreaking yet heroic. His gameplay? Essential. I loved Frog from the moment I saw him and he was with me through thick and thin. Something I really appreciated was that HE got Masamune rather than Crono. Sure, Crono is the main character, but Frog is the hero. I love my amphibious mans.

Lavos is super cool to me. It's not really a character (but kinda is?) and more like a force of nature. I also think it's kinda conceptually funny that the main villain of this classic game is the meteor that killed the dinosaurs. I don't think I FULLY understood what it truly was, but it's a concept that I very much enjoyed.

Overall, all of the characters in this game are great. Everyone has a role, everyone is enjoyable in their own way, and I really love seeing how the time travel aspect would let you see fates of characters and their role in history.

Gameplay

I loved the lack of random battles. Every battle felt planned and like its own individual puzzle, especially with the positioning gimmick; what enemies get hit by what abilities, how do I avoid hitting this enemy with the element that heals them with my super strong AoE ability. The idea of dual and triple techs enhanced this further: am I gonna use individual turns for heals or am I gonna just have Crono and Ayla fuckin decimate the entire area?

The aspect of time travel felt overall very well used. Past experiences affecting the future, but things in the future not affecting backwards; it feels like it should be obvious it works that way but it just felt like, well executed. this paragraph proves i need to get better at writing cause ultimately I just said I liked it

I also feel like the whole beginning section with the fair leading to the trial really makes you think harder about what to pay attention to and what matters: it teaches well without shoving it in your face. Might just be because I play a lot of RPGs and this is an older one, but I was able to discern the knowledge i needed easily.

Story

So to clarify here, I know there are multiple endings, but I got two; the Die To Lavos Ending not sure why i got this one nope and the real ending; I tried to do everything that I possibly could, so that was my experience.

It's great. I kinda loved how it was less a "party vs a bad time man" and more of a "party vs a natural calamity": I feel like that's not done often in games, there's usually a big bad (which I don't hate!) but it was a nice change of pace. I absolutely loved how each timeline had its own individual struggles, and the nature of time travel made them flow together very well in small ways (like defeating Magus makes Ozzie the worshipped one). Being able to go into it unspoiled really improved the huge moments, like Magus and Crono's big events (not gonna say in case there's someone like me out there), and I very much enjoyed guessing what would be next and what would affect what.

The Only Major issue I have is the 3 party limit, and character dialogue being locked to who you have. I feel like there would have been some really cool moments had everyone been there, like the campfire scene where everyone got their time.

Music

I mean, it's peak. I've already heard some of Mitsuda's work in later games, but hearing him here do (pretty much) the whole soundtrack was just a treat to my ears. The main theme is stuck playing in my head daily. The overworld and cutscene songs I think are where it shines, although I did really like the battle songs as well. and as always shoutouts to Uematsu we love that man.

Art

Again, a short section, but this game is beautiful, and I could tell that a lot of the techniques they used felt advanced for the time, like the time travel effect, or the car race; the spritework felt bouncy and alive, the backgrounds were beautifully detailed (Like Magus's Castle holy shit), and the entire game was a joy to look at.

Unspoiled

So yeah, I beat this game unspoiled somehow. I knew a couple characters like Crono and Lavos (the fact that they Existed), I've seen some backdrops like the campfire and Masamune in its sheath, and I've heard some songs; but other than that, I didn't know anything!

(warning for spoilers if you are like me and have gotten unspoiled don't read this)

Like I said in the story, it was really fun to figure out how things would be affected by the nature of time travel, naturally figuring out side quests like Fiona, and being hit by moments that I never would have expected. I didn't think my actions at the fair would affect anything until I saw the trial which made me question everything (I'm sorry old man for eating your lunch) (twice). I remember getting what i thought was the full party cause that's what the box art was, until I noticed what I thought was a 7th party member slot, leading me to wonder when this person would join and who it is; discovering Antiquity (also a surprise to me) convinced me that the person was here, and then that said person was Boy with cat that said I was gonna die, and lo and behold I was right! But not in the way that I thought. Seeing Magus be the final member was incredibly rewarding, and I probably wouldn't have gotten him if I didn't get reality checked by my actions mattering in the trial (although I do wish he had some more party interactions and dialogue). Also close to this: I did not know Crono STRAIGHT UP dies. Like, OBVIOUSLY he was gonna come back, right? But to have that happen to your main character? Felt revolutionary for the time. Didn't think Lavos was gonna be like, a humanoid creature, and I ESPECIALLY didn't think it was gonna have a phase 2.

Final

I could not be happier with my experience for this game. I can absolutely see why it is considered a masterpiece, and it's clearly going to stick with me for a good long while, the rest of my life, even. My negatives are incredibly minor, really only wanting more party dialogue and interactions (and to remove Golem FUCK that fight lmfao), and for that, I can probably consider it one of my favorite RPGs.

like.... the tv series? No... I’ve drawn dc comics fanart before, though. But it’s been years since I’ve been really into it. I like jumped ship like 10 years ago when the New 52 happened LOL.

These are all sort of related to backgrounds/painting so I grouped them together even though they’re pretty much entirely separate questions.... ANYWAYS

a) How is it working as a BG artist? Is it hard? What show are you drawing for?

I think you’re the first person to ever ask me about my job! Being a background artist is great. It’s definitely labor intensive but I think that could describe pretty much any art job (If something were rote or easy to automate, you wouldn’t hire an artist to do it) and I hesitate to say whether its harder or easier than any other role in the animation pipeline. Plus, so much of what truly makes a job difficult varies from one production to the next, schedule, working environment, co-workers etc. But I will say that I think while BGs are generally a lot of work on the upfront, I think they’re subject to less scrutiny/revisions than something like character/props/effects design and you don’t have to pitch them to a room like boards. So I guess it’s good if you don’t like to talk to people? LOL

A lot of my previous projects + the show I’ve worked on the longest aren’t public yet so I can’t talk about em (but I assure you if/when the news does break I won’t shut up about it). But I’m currently working on Archer Season 12 LOL. I’m like 90% sure I’m allowed to say that.

c) What exactly do you like to draw most [in a background]?

@kaitomiury Lots of stuff! I really like to draw clutter! Because it’s a great opportunity for environmental storytelling and also you can be kind of messy with it because the sheer mass will supersede any details LOL.

I like to draw clouds... I like to draw grass but not trees lol,,, I like to draw anything that sells perspective really easily like tiled floors and ceilings, shelves, lamp posts on a street etc.

d) Do you have any tips on how to paint (observational)?

god there’s so much to say. painting is really a whole ass discipline like someone can paint their whole life and still discover new things about it. I guess if you’re really just starting out my best advice is that habit is more important than product. especially with traditional plein air painting, I find that the procedure of going outside and setting up your paints is almost harder than the actual painting. There’s a lot of artists who say “I want to do plein air sometime!!” and then never actually get around to doing it. A lot of people just end up working from google streetview or photos on their computer.

But going outside to paint is a really good challenge because it forces you to make and commit to lighting and composition decisions really quickly. And to work through your mistakes instead of against them via undo button.

My last tip is to check out James Gurney’s youtube channel because hes probably the best and most consistent resource on observational painting out there rn. There’s lots other artists doing the same thing (off the top of my head I know a lot of the Warrior Painters group has people regularly posting plein air stuff and lightbox expo had a Jesse Schmidt lecture abt it last year) but Gurney’s probably the most prolific poster and one of the best at explaining the more technical stuff - his books are great too.

e) Do you have tips for drawing cleanly on heavypaint?

@marigoldfool UMM LOL I LIKE ONLY USE THE FILL TOOL so maybe use the fill tool? Fill and rectangle are good for edge control as opposed to the rest of the heavy paint tools which can get sort of muddles. And also I use a stylus so maybe if you’re using your finger, find a stylus that works with your device instead. That’s all I’ve got, frankly I don’t think my drawings are particularly clean lol.

f) Tips on improving backgrounds/scenes making them more dynamic practicing etc?

Ive given some tips about backgrounds/scenes before so I’m not gonna re-tread those but here’s another thing that might be helpful...

I think a good way to approach backgrounds is to think of the specific story or even mood you want to convey with the background first. Thinking “I just need to put something behind this character” is going to lead you to drawing like... a green screen tourist photo backdrop. But if you think “I need this bg to make the characters feel small” or “I need this bg to make the world feel colorful” then it gives you requirements and cues to work off of.

If I know a character needs to feel overwhelmed and small, then I know I need to create environment elements that will cage them in and corner them. If a character needs to feel triumphant/on top of the world then I know I need to let the environment open up around them. etc. If I know my focal point/ where I want to draw attention, I can build the background around that.

Also, backgrounds like figure compositions will have focal points of their own and you can draw attention to it/ the relationship the characters have with the bg element via scale or directionality or color, any number of cues. I think of it almost as a second/third character in a scene.

Not every composition is gonna have something so obvious like this but it helps me to think about these because then the characters feel connected and integrated with the environment.

Some more general art questions

a) Do you have any process/tips to start drawing character/bodies/heads?

I tried to kind of draw something to answer this but honestly this is difficult for me to answer because I don’t think I’m that great at drawing characters LOL. Ok, I think I have two tips.

1) flip your canvas often. A lot about what makes human bodies look correct and believable is symmetry and balance. Even if someone has asymmetrical features, the body will often pull and push in a way to counterbalance it. we often have inherent biases to one side or another like dominant hands dominant eyes etc. you know how right-handed artists will often favor drawing characters facing 45 degrees facing (the artist’s) left? that’s part of it. so viewing your drawing flipped even just to evaluate it helps compensate for that bias and makes you more aware of balance.

2) draw the whole figure often. I feel like a lot of beginner artists (myself included for a long time) defer to just drawing headshots or busts because it’s easier, you dont have to think about posing limbs etc. But drawing a full body allows you to better gauge proportion, perspective, body language, everything that makes a character look believable and grounded.

Like if you (me) have that issue where you draw the head too big and then have to resize it to fit the proportions of the rest of the body, it’s probably because you (I) drew the head first and are treating the body as an afterthought/attachment. Sketching out the whole figure first or even just quick drawing guides for it will help you think of it more holistically. I learned this figure drawing in charcoal at art school LOL.

oh. third mini tip - try to draw people from life often! its the best study. if you can get into a figure drawing/nude drawing class EVEN BETTER and if you have a local college/art space/museum that hosts those for free TREASURE IT AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT, that’s a huge boon that a lot of artists (me again) wish they had. though if youre not so lucky and youre sitting in a park trying to creeper draw people and they keep moving.. don’t let that stop you! that’s good practice because it’s forcing you to work fast to get the important stuff down LOL. its a challenge!

b) I’ve been pretty out of energy and have had no inspiration to draw but I have the desire to. Any advice?

Dude, take a walk or something.... Or a nap? Low energy is going to effect everything else so you gotta hit that problem at its source.

If you’re looking for inspiration though, I’d recommend stuff like watching a movie, reading a book, playing video games etc. Fill up your idea bank with content and then give yourself time/space to gestate it into new concepts. Sometimes looking at other art works but sometimes it can work against you because it’s too close.

Also something that helps me is remembering that art doesn’t always have to be groundbreaking... like it’s okay to make something shitty and stupid that you don’t post online and only show to your friend. That’s all part of the process imo. If you want to hit a home run you gotta warm up first, right? Sports.

I should probably compile everytime i give tips on stuff like this but that’s getting dangerously close to being a social media artist who makes stupid boiled down art tutorials for clout which is the last thing i want to be... the thing I want to stress is that art is a whole visual language and there are widely agreed upon rules and customs but they exist in large part to be broken. Like there's an infinite number of ways to reach an infinite number of solutions and that’s actually what makes it really cool and personal for both the artist and the viewer. So when you make work you like or you find someone else’s work you like, take a step back and ask yourself what about it speaks for you, what about it works for you, what makes it effective, how to recreate that effect and how to break that effect completely, etc. And have a good time with it or else what’s the point.

For the last one, I don’t actually believe I’ve ever addressed artwork as insp for stories/rp but I’ll say here and now yeah go ahead! As long as you’re not making profit or taking credit for my work then I’m normally ok with it. Especially anything thats private and purely recreational, that’s generally 100% green light go. I only ask that if you post it anywhere public that you please credit me.

(and I reserve the right to ask you to take it down if I see it and don’t approve of it’s use but I think that case is pretty rare.)

Enter a dangerous alternate world and have wacky adventures with monsters/inanimate objects that have weird powers... there’s like weird engineers and mechanisms behind the scenes... also frontier literally starts with them getting on a train. Anyways if anyone else followed me for digimon... maybe you’d like Infinity Train? LOL

PART ONE / NARCOS

Here’s some experts from the book: ‘Narcos: The Art and Making of the Show’ by Jeff Bond. I’m gonna start posting these because I have the book and it seems we’re not all entirely informed about this, so I wanna help

Here is the foreword by Eric Newman, Doug Miro, and Carlo Bernard about the creation of the show and their intentions with it:

“Though many disagree on how and why, it seems unanimous opinion that we are losing the war on drugs. Though we sought to look closely at what has quietly become American’s longest running and costliest undeclared war, we never took it upon ourselves to offer a conclusive analysis one way or another. We couldn’t do that even if we had wanted to as the tragedy of this conflict is outweighed only by its complexity. Sixty years of politics, money, colonialism, arrogance, ignorance, imperialism, violence, addiction, and horrible policy: all these concepts combining with the most powerful stimulant ever created to form a free-base cocktail of lethal potency and a body count well into the millions. Yeah, tackling that was never our objective. We were instead drawn to to the people, and personalities, on both sides of the drug war. It was our goal to depict them like they really were, and while much of what they did seems too strange to believe, one of the greatest strengths of Narcos is that the stories we tell are almost always the truth--particularly the really crazy shit. An article we read somewhere referred to us as ‘pulp non-fiction.’ That sounds about right. The pulp is sometimes the truest thing we do. But the non-fiction is what really blows you away. Authenticity is everything for us. And the crew we put together in Colombia and now in Mexico brought a reality to our storytelling that can’t be praised enough. The production design, costumes, locations share center stage with our actors and our story. We are proud of our directors and crew, almost entirely Latin American, and are grateful to Gaumont and Netflix for letting us make this show in the place where it happened: the only place where the story could be told.”

About the script:

The scripts were written in English and translated into Spanish, which meant that native speakers, especially Colombians, like Andrés Baiz (who become a producer/director and co-executive producer of the series in season two) were instrumental in preserving authenticity. ‘When the script was ready, I then added Colombian authenticity to the pages: the way we speak, behavior in the characters, cultural idiosyncrasies,’ Baiz explains. ‘Although most of the directors on the show are Latin-American, I’m the only Colombian director.’ One of Baiz’s many responsibilities was to try and balance the heroic elements of the DEA, so the Colombian authorities were portrayed in an honest, truthful light. ‘We didn’t want audiences to see the DEA as white saviors in Colombia, rescuing damsels in distress. Both the heroic deeds and unethical behavior of both the American and Colombian forces needed to be represented fairly.’”

About how they portrayed Pablo and how they desired it to be more than just a cop show:

The writers were determined to take a global view of the story, with the background of the Cold War, economic consideration, and geopolitics all playing a part. America’s position as a marketplace, and buyer of cocaine, and the source of money flowing into the trade added to the story’s complexity.

‘We knew we wanted to be able to integrate in the stories both on a very human, micro level, a story about a family, whether it was Escobar’s family or someone else’s,’ explains Bernard. The creators also wanted to talk about how America engages with the rest of the world and how Colombia’s own complex history was apart of the narrative.

Ultimately the driver of the show’s gripping drama in its first two season would still be the unforgettable figure of Pablo Escobar, a man who bullies and threatens his way to the heights of geopolitical power. ‘It’s a deeply human story and, undeniably, he destroyed thousands of lives and certainly had it coming,’ Bernard says. ‘But at the same time to be able to also see him in human terms hopefully illustrates how tragic it is. To us, trying to dramatize the humanity of it hopefully makes it more tragic and not romanticizing him, but making him relatable, you’re forced to reconcile the bad things this guy did, because you’re forced to see him as a human being.’

Oh Yeah I mentioned a Sprinkle of Final Fantasy and KH but I haven’t talked about that Aspect of my Canon At all have I? Well truth be told it’s cause I’m focusing on getting the more Basic Aspects of my Oc’s Before I get into that but Guess who made this Baby on a Whim!

So this is the Map of the Isle of Light well the Main Island at least there are other Littler Bits of land Yet to surface I̶t̶’̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶t̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶I̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶A̶d̶d̶ ̶o̶n̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶L̶a̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶h̶a̶h̶a̶ oh yeah did I mention it’s a FLOATING ISLAND!! Yeah P Sick right? Okay so I’ll go into the Island’s History and it’s Area’s but it may have some Spoilers I guess you could say but honestly I wouldn’t wait on me making a full fledged...Anything outta the Story I’ve made like I’ll sum it up (not here but like in general) but comics are hard Videos are hard Fics are hard maybe not individually but this is more of a Anime Series then an Anime movie if you feel me without further ado...Stuff

So The Isle of Light was Originally the Black Forest A Place of Freedom and Expression for all who lead lives who Needed to hide Such and Some Such was The Coven of the Black Forest made up of 3 sisters (not biologically also there was a 4th) they all found comfort and love with each other one being the Princess of the Kingdom nearby (The 4th and Littlest one) She had a fiancé who was Mad with a Lust for power and Control over things he Didn’t need power and control over He Treated the Littlest one Cruelly when the other 3 Decided enough was enough when he did...SOMETHING to Part of the Forest so Horrible it turned Dead and Cruel (Subtle Subtle Hint Hint Wink) When all 3 Of them saw the Ruin They went so mad they turned to Darkness and fought him and all his Manmade monstrosities there when the Princess Arrived there was so much Dark energy everywhere it was Bad like Real Bad So with her friends now monsters she Fought them with a heavy heart her heart broke so much she fell afterwards immediately Unintentionally Sending her Kingdom to somewhere nobody knows where she is though...That’s an even bigger question BUT the story would live on as a Weilder of the key blade who slayed 3 evil witches...(Oh yeah did I mention Crowley knows And that’s Why He Let the Girls Attend because he thought they might be the Black Forest Coven Reincarnated And the Prophecy that when they Awakened the “Keys to their Hearts once more” They’d Free The Princess From her Mirror Prison Oh Yeah also the princess DID Die But her Reincarnation Goes inside a Mirror and is trapped there when she turns 17 and Doesn’t leave until she dIES ALSO ITS HIS OLDEST DAUGHTER THIS TIME ALSO YES HE HAS 2 DAUGHTERS...Okay lemme just calm down..Also yeah she thought of the Princess System) but After a Wish got safe haven for all Keyblade Weilders (I have KH Oc’s other then these don’t ask Longer story they live and basically founded Fortana Haven) I guess the Isle of Light Rose from the Shadow Realm to be just that oh yeah also the Isle of light is literally that kingdom if ya didn’t know

Okay this Place Basically a Modern Fairytale Everything is so Rustic~ but they Have Cafe’s and Stuff~ They’re still very much in Development as a City..or town..or whatever Boss of everything Locket Clover (An OG KH OC) Runs Everything Wonderfully she welcomes everything with open arms and If you wanna run a shop or want a Building for a particular Thing or Activity she’s Pretty open to the idea unless it’s Incredibly Dumb But she will make you get The Wood and Supplies and The Bricks and the Brick Stick Sauce or whatever it’s called she might get give you help constructing but dang is she a firm believer in “DIY” but I like how she’s Determined to Have a Good Balance between Industrial and Rural In fact there is a Mall (God knows how it got there) And that’s pretty much all there is for your Juicy Capitalism Fix She Runs “Hope Stir” Workshop according to Her boyfriend Ephmer It was always Called a workshop but for the longest time she did EVERYTHING Subtle Farmwork And Animal Husbandry ACTUAL Workshop things all cause she wanted to help every Weilder she knew out and made sure they had a place for food and such She is a bit of a Moneyholic but when you’ve been doing what she’s been doing I bet you’d be too overall While it doesn’t have much History yet Fortana Haven (4-Tana is how you say it btw) Is truly well a Haven

She does NOT let a lotta people at once though Heck she doesn’t like Skye that much from what I can tell but she makes an Exception for ~friends~ So...BE NICE TO OUR CUTE MITELLA I’m glad we have a Convient Place for Blitzball practice and also Swimming around with pretty Mermaid Tails (New Nix Mermaid Action Fashion Doll only 25.99! Get it for your Child or they’ll cry!! Also a 5 dollar Boy doll take his Shirt off! That’s it!) Hyde Mi And Skye are kinda an Iconic Trio Mi Also Teaches how to swim with a mermaid tail better for the Weilders who wanna go to Atlantica Hey Mermaids gotta eat so get a Swim Lesson! Bianco Nero Forest

Well tbh I have the least to say because it’s Appeal is simple ADVENTURE AND MYSTERY! Lots can happen in Bianco Nero it’s Basically the Base foundation of the whole Isle! Presumably cause it’s the Black Forest or was at least though it can be dangerous it’s the only place heartless are know to appear in the whole isle (So where you’ll grind In the Video Game that’ll definitely happen :Says the girl who can’t commit to a single comic) They drop all sortsa cool stuff! Heck you can FIND Cool stuff just...Around so..Yeah!!

Oh FUCK dude i did not see this i’m so fucking sorry this is so late 😭 damn you, tumblr, for not fucking notifying me!! Anyway buckle up this is gonna be much longer than you asked for <3

Honestly ive kinda been drawing all my life! I hope that doesnt sound dumb cuz obviously almost everyone drew pictures when they were kids, but i know that it’s been a consistent hobby for me since i was little. By the time i was in 3rd grade I was hoarding notebooks to draw in. Cuz that’s something fun about me: i had a real huge habit of drawing in things that werent sketchbooks. Through middle school and beyond I did buy/receive sketchbooks, but I started out with various kinds of notebooks. One I had from like 2nd grade was like a hardcover, stationary-type notebook that I drew cats in lol, and I have 2 velvet lisa frank notebooks from 3rd grade. In high school and college I had a really bad habit of drawing in the margins on my notes and on handouts the teacher/professor would give. Those classes where the prof just prints out all the notes beforehand and gives them to you to follow along? Oh man, I spent so many classes barely listening while I drew on them! I also used to draw on my physics homework and tests and sometimes I even got extra credit for them (thank you jeff :D). I actually have a folder of various drawings I’ve kept from that 8yr time period and a lot of them are on classwork 😂

Obviously, I’ve been doing a lot of digital art lately, which I’m sure is what u were more curious about rather than the shit about drawing on my homework. I got a surface pro as a graduation gift in 2016 bc prior to that i had a wacom tablet and a janky ass laptop, so the gift was kinda a 2-in-1: i can do schoolwork AND art easily! i like digital art a lot and honestly im still learning new things abt it every time i draw. I use Leonardo currently (i’ll skip that story) but I started out doing digital art on sketchfu WITHOUT the wacom tablet in maaaaybe 2012??? 2011??? does anyone on this site remember sketchfu? Honestly couldnt even tell u how i found that site hahah the internet was just full of wonders back in the day. RIP sketchfu. Once i got the tablet tho some time later i used sketchfu still (i think) but also gimp and krita i believe.

Oh i suppose I should mention that i took art all four years of highschool and also minored in it in college! So it’s something i did academically as well as for fun. I keep thinking about going to art school for realsies but idk. I’m already $$$ in debt from my first degree i dont feel like adding to that 😅😓

Ok now for the second part of your question: I’ve also pretty much always done fan art! Ive never really been one for OC’s, EXCEPT for the self-insert superhero double life “comics” i wrote about a poodle named Sassy when i was in third grade. And then the knock off “comics” i wrote at a later time which honestly it was weird that i did a knock off of my own thing rather than just adding them to the original or making it a spin off with at least one of the og characters. Cuz it wasnt a spin off!! But anyway there wasnt really much to any of these characters; i just needed vessels to get my weird ideas out.

So anyway yeah most of what ive ever drawn has been fan art or self portraits, because its just easier for me to take characters that already exist and bend them to my will (artistically). Well excluding art assignments in school i guess because i would usually have to draw something specific and therefore not something self indulgent. But yeah ive drawn for lots of fandoms like the earliest i remember is warrior cats. Then theres things like pokemon and warriors and random other books i read thru middle school (i used to read a LOT but now im practically illiterate); spn, sherlock, and marvel through high school; and then marvel and bttf thru the end of hs and beyond. Idk i also have always loved looking at other peoples fan art and so im like “shit i wanna do that too!”. Tho i will say marvel was my biggest fandom and the one i had the longest interest in, so that was probably where the passion REALLY came from cuz I was drawing marvel stuff for such a long time (tho not posting shdjsk u have to trust me), but ive been doing fan art forever :)

(Of course, a lot of the fan art i was making prior to recently was drawn in lined notebooks or on homework sheets or what have you, and I wasn’t posting really any of it, but i was still making it and a good chunk of it still exists. Oh i should also mention most of it was with pencils or ballpoint pens like i wasnt doing anything too fancy. There was some digital art in the highschool-college time frame but it also really wasnt…much. Honestly i barely posted any of it here but I know some of it’s on deviantart)

I cant pinpoint the exact time I started getting more “serious” about my art in general, but i know the first pandemic lockdown gave me more free time and i was less stressed about schoolwork so i just kinda had a good outlet. (Tho i will say that prior, I had been in a life drawing club for a short while, and i had also been working on a personal sketchbook project that had me pretty ~inspired~ to do art. Also i watched twin peaks around this time and it inspired a lot of Feelings and i was making funky collages and other art pieced that were sometimes related to that. Some of those are on deviantart)

Honestly I think the Big thing with my digital art was coincidentally getting back into BTTF the summer of the 35th anniversary bc the fandom here was THRIVING and i was like “oh shit wait i want to contribute!” But as i kept drawing i kept wanting to improve and that leads us to right now where im constantly trying new things (whether subtle or obvious) and challenging myself to do full body drawings with different poses, and doing screencap redraws and what have you for various reasons (backgrounds, proportions, pose, etc)

So yeah :) Basically I’ve been doing fan art forever (I didnt even get into all the mediums ive tried but that’s another conversation bc this is already so long and convoluted) and it’s kinda coincidental that ive suddenly really gotten back into it and have improved dramatically in such a short time. Rain During A Storm // Fic: It would be weird if I didn’t include my most read piece of work I think! It was my longest fic to date and it only makes sense that it’s kuroken! the amount of love I got on this fic really spurred me on to write more so that was a welcome distraction to my year!

Ennoshita Piece // Art: My first Ennoshita piece! Honestly, I just really like how the colouring came out and how well I think I got the likeness down first try! Even if I had trouble with the transparency and certain details! I also like the doodles! My lil tanaka/noya combo is probably my favourite part!

Details // Fic: This was my most flowery/rambling piece in a good few years and I love the outcome! Even if it’s not the best, it’s got lines in it that still make me giggle! And I think it was a good exploration of the bullshit that is teenage angst (its tsukiyama too which maybe helps)

Karasuno Gym // Art: Haikyuu Week 2020 was honestly the best thing that happened to me art wise this year because it got me off my arse to create while I was in my biggest slump! This was one of my first proper scenic/background pieces in years and it reminded me just how much I love doing them! I think overall this is my most favourite piece! It’s not the best skill wise, but it gives me warm fuzzies whenever I look back at it!

Tanaka & Nishinoya Piece // Art: This wouldnt be a complete list without my boys! I drew these guys more than anything else last year which I think shows in this drawing! They’re my favourite, and they remind me so much of my friends that this drawing is basically homage to me missing my friends too with the outfits and the positions. I also just really like the level of detail I was able to put in and maybe started tackling how to draw shoes lmao!

five months later.

JACK DOESN’T KNOW WHEN he started running, and doesn’t know where to stop.

Right now the world is this hazy, deafening thing. The streets loop endlessly around him, too bright and too loud, a mix of over-saturated colors and sounds he can’t pull apart. In the middle of it all he feels as if he’s drowning. He’s drugged up to his eyes, this much he can tell—there’s little else that he’s aware of, though, except for his feet pounding against the pavement and this base, animalistic instinct in the back of his brain telling him to go. To run and run and keep running.

So he does. Buildings and road signs and people dissolve into background noise as he tears through the streets. Someone is after him; as disoriented as he is, he’s sure of it, and it’s that hot rush of fear that keeps him going more than anything else. A spike of adrenaline pushing him forward.

Maybe he’s lost them miles ago, but it’s not until the moment he thinks his legs will give out underneath him that he collapses against the back wall of an alleyway, sputtering for a breath. His lungs burn and he feels dizzy, but Jack pushes past the blurred images in his head and the low ringing in his ears to catalog what he knows. His name is Francis—no. He swallows dryly and starts again. His name is Jack Kelly. He’s eighteen, maybe nineteen, now, depending on how much time has passed. He’s an art student, and a superhero, and there was a fire, and then—

And then everything fills up with static and the feeling of hands on his skin and this harsh, chemical smell. His stomach turns.

Jack hates feeling like this, like he’s been separated from his own thoughts. The lack of control that comes with the clouded figures where his memories should be is enough to make him vulnerable in a way he hasn’t felt in years, exposed like a copper wire that’s been stripped of its casing.

And the current—that’s gone altogether. There are silver cuffs biting into the skin of his wrists; the seam that held them together is broken along a jagged edge, but the slim band of green light lining them means they’re still suppressing his powers. Jack aches for the buzz of electricity to come back, needs them off. He twists his hands desperately and in doing so, makes his drug-addled brain suddenly aware of a cold piece of metal clenched in his fist.

He opens his palm. It’s a flash drive. His mind dredges up a fuzzy memory of ripping it from a computer port in what he thinks might have been a control room. He doesn’t know what it contains, but if he’d held onto it so desperately that it became second nature, then it must be important. He needs to find a computer, he thinks abruptly, and then stands up and immediately sways on his feet.

Okay—okay. Not yet, maybe. Before that, he needs food and water and rest. He needs the lodging house, except he has no idea where he is, and in the state he’s in, he barely knows which way is up. He needs—he needs to call Crutchie.

Jack is struck suddenly by the overwhelming desire to hear his pseudo-brother’s voice, strong enough that his chest physically hurts from it. It’s been—weeks, maybe? months?—the longest they’ve gone without seeing each other since they were kids. If he can get his hands on a phone and get Crutchie on the line, he thinks, then powerless and drugged or not, he’ll be okay.

It’s not much of a plan, but it’s a start. All he has to do is find a phone. This is easier said than done, though; there’s still a payphone booth left next to a nearby subway station, rusted from lack of use, but he doesn’t have any money. He’s aware of how he must look, a boy in tattered clothes with cloudy eyes and words slurred together, begging for change. More than one person threatens to call the police. Most of them just push him away. Jack feels his desperation pitching upward quickly, tightening in his throat.

When a stranger finally hands him a few quarters with a wary look, he’s not sure if it’s fear or pity or some combination of the two that makes her do it. He’s grateful all the same. He rushes over to the booth, blood roaring in his ears from the anticipation. His hands are shaking so hard that his fingers stumble over the keypad, but he knows Crutchie’s number by heart, is sure he could dial it in his sleep. It goes to voicemail and Jack shoves the receiver against his ear.

“Crutchie, it’s me—it’s Jack. Please pick up.”

When he slides the second quarter into the slot and calls again, it barely has a chance to ring.

“Jack is dead.” Crutchie’s voice comes through, wavering. Jack almost chokes on his relief.

“I’m not,” he says, and there’s a sharp intake of breath on the other end of the line, and then a noise that sounds like a broken sob.

“No—”

“Crutchie, I’m here. It’s me. I’m not dead.”

“How…”

“I don’t know,” Jack says, truthfully.

“You—you can’t—fuck, Jack.” And in the middle of everything, Jack is caught off guard because Crutchie almost never swears. There’s a long quiet, broken by just the static-filled sound of Crutchie crying. Jack’s own cheeks are wet. “It’s been five months,” he gasps finally. “I thought—we all thought you died in that fire. Holy shit. Where have you been?”

Jack’s head spins. He hadn’t even realized how much time has passed. Five months...it’s June now, then, and the spring semester of classes is already over, and he’s nineteen, and there’s this gaping chasm of lost time in his head—

“—ck? Jack.”

He realizes that Crutchie is calling his name abruptly, and Jack blinks, trying to clear his thoughts. “Yeah, I-I’m here. I don’t—everything’s fuzzy, Crutchie, I don’t know what happened, where I’ve been—” His words trip and stumble over each other. “I’m gonna try and find my way back to the lodging house, I’ve just gotta—”

“No, no, wait, you can’t,” Crutchie cuts him off, suddenly fierce. Jack pauses.

“What do you mean?”

His response is quieter this time, tentative. Slow, like he’s walking on his toes. “Jackie...how much do you know about what’s been going on?”

Dread pools in Jack’s chest, hot and fast. For as long as they’ve known each other, he’s only heard Crutchie sound like this, scared and small and hesitant, a few times before. Something has gone deeply wrong; he knows it in an instant, maybe should have realized it even before now. “What is it, Crutchie?” he demands.

Crutchie takes a shuddering breath. “They said you set the fire,” he says, and Jack’s stomach plummets. “It was all over the news—they said the hospital wasn’t an accident, that Strike—that you—had planned the whole thing, did it on purpose.”

“No...” Jack feels nauseous, dizzy, sure in that moment that he’s going to be sick all over the pavement. His memories of the hospital brim with fear and heat and voices that echo in his skull, and the idea that the public believes he’s the cause of that, of all that death and destruction, hurting innocent people—he can’t stomach it. Doesn’t know how to.

“Jack, people were angry. Really angry. Not just at Strike—there was a whole new anti-super wave, worse than it’s ever been before, and now everyone thinks supers are dangerous and they started... taking people.” Crutchie’s voice goes even lower as Jack feels his heart crawl up into his throat. “They—we call them Snatchers, we think they’re in league with the police—they’ve surrounded the lodging house and swarmed half the city, dragging kids with powers off to someplace called the Refuge.”

Everything goes hot and sharp for a moment, a quick snap of recognition that burns like fire. Jack tastes metal in his mouth, chokes on it. “That’s where I was,” he says hollowly. He knows it even through the fogginess in his head.

“Oh, Jackie,” Crutchie begins, but Jack doesn’t let him finish.

“Are the others—is everyone okay? Race, Specs, Elmer—did they get taken?” The lodging house is a frequent stop for super kids who need a place to spend the night, but the three of them and Jack are the only permanent residents that have powers. If the Snatchers found them, they’d have been dragged off to the same fate that Jack has only just escaped. He doesn’t know what he’ll do if Crutchie says yes.

“They’re holed up with Spot in Brooklyn,” Crutchie replies, and Jack lets himself exhale. “I haven’t been talking to them a whole lot, because they’re trying to stay under the radar, but the last time I heard from them, they were okay.” He gives a rattled sort of laugh, devoid of humor and more exhausted than anything. “Shit, Jackie. Everything fell apart without you.”

Jack passes a hand over his face, wants to cry. Wants to scream and tell Crutchie that he’s lost and drowned and terrified, that he feels more helpless than he’s ever been, that for all the time he’s spent playing hero he doesn’t know how to save anyone from this. Instead, though, he sets his jaw. “I’m gonna fix this, Crutchie,” he says, half-promise and half-prayer. He’ll find a way.

“Jack—” Crutchie begins, but what he’s going to say next Jack doesn’t find out. The timer clicks, and there’s a robotic female voice in place of Crutchie’s that tells him the call has timed out.

The line goes dead and then Jack is alone all over again, the vow he made weighing as heavy as the shackles on his wrists.

.... well, I made so few things that weren’t Softboy Pillowman that this is just. ALL gonna be Softboy Pillowman. Here are the hits, folks.

1. Hello, everyone!: I’m gonna be basic and say that my favorite work of this year is the one that started it all on my Softboy Pillowman blog. This Leap Day post began my longest-running project ever, one that I hope will continue in different ways in the future. This comic may be short and simple, but its creation was filled with nerves and excitement.

2. Among Us: Now this one is definitely a favorite of mine. Even though a lot of the artwork for this involved tracing Among Us models and backgrounds, I still pat myself on the back for how good it all turned out. It was really fun to draw in a different style, with stuff like shading and text, and I got to make content that involves a game that I really like to play. Overall, this was just super fun.

3. Pillowman of the Opera: Partly, this is me being proud of accomplishing a decent version of the Phantom’s misty underground layer, complete with floating candles. Partly, this is me cracking up over how seriously I drew Softboy taking his role. (Just look at his little FACE)

4. Chrisville’s Don Giovanni: I can’t help but have a soft spot for this one. Don Giovanni is my favorite opera, and I have very few opportunities to reference or talk about it. I love giving Chris all my little niche interests, not only because it lets me express them through my work, but also because it reflects how I was like at his age. (I didn’t like Don Giovanni yet at age 8, but I did have a lot of interests that my peers at the time just weren’t into) If Softboy Pillowman ever became a cartoon, I would have a special where we put on a kid-friendly version of Don Giovanni, all in Italian, and NO ONE WOULD STOP ME. Also, I gotta give props to the first appearance of Chris’s parents, and how proud I am that Chris’s dad mostly looks like how he does in my head.

5. EVERYBODY CLAP YOUR HANDS: I was looking forward to making this comic, mostly because a friend of mine really liked it when it was still in its doodle stages. Watching Softboy perform the only part of the Cha Cha slide that I can remember still makes me laugh even now. (Also, bonus happiness for referencing something that actually happened during my time in a Gilbert and Sullivan society.)

HONORABLE MENTION:

Softboy Jaskier: Just look at him. LOOK AT HIM. Honestly, I love imagining Softboy doing Jaskier things, like playing the lute and wearing his wonderful outfits. (Even though he wouldn’t do the main Jaskier thing, which is sleep around with lots of people. He’d just give ‘em cuddles and kisses.) For some reason, I’ve had a small desire to draw him singing a fittingly heartbroken rendition of “Her Sweet Kiss”, but that would involve something bad happening between him and Leo (who would be Geralt), and I don’t want that.

Hey so, care to share any of the mood boards and /or playlists that I'm 99% sure you have your your next gen marvel universe?

Okay, I know you sent this like yesterday morning, but you’re asking for me to share a piece of a universe that @justanotherwannabeclassic and I have been developing since…July? Which is insane but I made my first post about our Earth-6828 universe on the 26th July 2019. We have an estimated ninety-three characters for this universe that categorized as a next generation or involved in the next generation narrative. Ninety-three characters. Nine. Three. It’s insane. WE’RE INSANE. We created an entire universe over the course of a half year.

Anyway, with that many characters, I don’t think it’s possible to share everything on the internet involving them. So, I’m gonna focus on the OG team - the Daughters of Liberty. They’re the catalyst for Earth-6828 universe and they’re eleven women from different backgrounds and skill sets. We deliberately made a all-female team that’s diverse and we really have fun playing with them. So I’ll share some mood boards and playlists that I made for them.

NOTE: Please note that when I make playlists, I’m a weirdo with very specific rules. I make playlists made of songs sung by the genre of music I think the character would listen to, in the gender they identify with and I only do one song per artist. So, a character like Bekka who likes old school country and jazz, she’s a big fan of Duke Ellington and Miles Davis and Wendy Nguyen who is folksy really likes the Lumineers and the Mountain Goats but neither of those artists are featured on those lists because both characters are female and I like to think of the songs as being from their perspective. It’s really weird but I feel the need to make the disclosure.

I’m gonna put this under the cut because this is gonna be LOOOOONG. Also, if you’re interested in other characters and nuances of the universe, you’re also welcome to hit up not just me but also Shea because she’s done some amazing work too.

Valeria “Val” Richards

Val Richards is an Earth-616 canon character and the daughter of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Susan Storm (Invisible Woman). She’s the smartest woman in the world and holds more degrees than she knows what to do with. She’s constantly working on a new degree and really hates the amount of condescension she gets sometimes from people who don’t believe how smart she is and underestimate her. It’s half the reason she’s involved with the team - she wanted to show that she and the women she works with shouldn’t be underestimated. She’s the team coordinator and is the most tech savvy. She’s known for drinking her weight in coffee, listening to Led Zeppelin on full blast and always having her hands in one project or another. She has a habit of never going to bed because she’s constantly involving herself in a project and because she’s constantly blasting music, her hearing isn’t always the best. She constantly has people repeat things since she often can’t hear them. Though she’s not involved with the family business, she’s got a great relationship with her parents and especially her brother, Franklin, who is without a doubt her hero. She’s a part of the LONGEST slowburn I’ve ever written and it took SIX YEARS for her and the team empath Wendy to get together.

Val’s Playlist: Classic and Hard Rock, this is the type of music that Val generally listens to when she’s in the lab. It features Lita Ford, Pat Benator, Joan Jett and The Pretty Reckless. I think shows a lot of her attitude and some of her anger.

Eleanor “El” Rogers

El Rogers is an Earth-85826 canon character and the daughter of Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Sharon Carter (Agent 13). She is a professionally trained spy and is a specialist in various forms of combat. Though she offered the mantle of Captain America to Dani Cage, she is very proud of her father’s legacy and sometimes nags Dani on how she should handle things, which sometimes leads to some contention between the two. Prior to the starting the Daughters of Liberty with Val Richards, she was a SHIELD agent and often known as “Espionage Barbie.” Growing up in the spotlight, she’s a gifted and knowledgeable public relations specialist and has more than a few headaches trying to manage this team and the array of personalities she deals with. Despite her PR skills, she’s naturally more introverted and prefers to spend her time with her close friends and working on her art. Though she’s more like her mother, she did inherit Steve’s sense of justice and morals while also keeping questionable company seeing that she often finds herself in some morally grey company, namely a couple of rebellious Southern mutants and three SHIELD trained professional killers. Most people often see El as perfect but she is riddled with anxiety and constantly beats herself up for not living up to people’s expectations. Before her father’s death, she was seen as very upbeat and friendly, but has been much more subdued and even more argumentative. She’s incredibly stubborn, which often gets her into epic fights with Dani and Meredith, as well as the leaders of the Avengers (Sonny Stark) and X-Men (Olivier LeBeau).

El’s Playlist: El is very much a pop music kinda girl, but her playlist comes with a bit of a twist of her anxieties, depression and desires to live up to that expectations that have been put on her. It features Taylor Swift, Elle King, Demi Lovato and Ruelle.

Danielle “Dani” Cage

Dani Cage is an Earth-616 canon character and the daughter of Luke Cage (Power Man) and Jessica Jones (Jewel). She’s the current Captain America and it’s a job she’s very ambivalent about because as much as she is honored by being bestowed the title, it comes with a lot of pressure and criticism which Dani is not great with. Due to her super strength and invulnerability, she rarely uses the iconic Captain America shield which is one of the many things she gets criticized for by El. Like her parents, Dani is tough as nails, a little rough around the edges and swears like it was its her job. Despite her short fuse, Dani has the biggest heart of them all and tends to come from a place of compassion rather than a place of judgment. This doesn’t stop her from being one of the sassiest members of the Daughters of Liberty however. When she’s not shouldering her duties as Captain America, Dani is working out her frustrations in the gym through boxing and acting as a volunteer for the Harlem Boys and Girls’ Club. Dani is a creature of habit. She goes to the same gym that she’s gone to since she was a little girl despite having a gym in HQ, she eats the same thing for breakfast and orders the same thing whenever she goes out for dinner. Her teammates often make fun of her because of this habit, but with all the stress in her life, she clings to these habits as a source of comfort and normalcy. Dani is best friends and incredibly close to Lucy Rand, who is about 85% of her impulse control. Sometimes the only thing keeping Dani from punching out her teammates and the occasional reporter is Lucy.

Dani’s Playlist: Her playlist is the perfect workout playlist because it’s intense and high energy R&B, Hip-Hop and Rap songs. It’s an ode to black excellence and being unapologetically awesome. It features Beyonce, Cardi B, Lizzo and Salt-N-Pepa.

Lucy Rand

Lucy Rand is an Earth-21722 canon character and the daughter of Danny Rand (Iron Fist) and Misty Knight. She’s a highly skilled martial artist and gifted detective. While Val might be the most intelligent person in the world, Lucy is skilled at picking up social and culture nuances quickly and reading people despite not having empathy and psychic abilities. Despite having great tragedy in her life and losing her parents at a young age, she’s a very positive person who tends to do her best to make any difficult situation manageable. Lucy’s anger rarely comes out but when it does, it usually is when people disregard the sacrifice her parents made. Though privately, she’s very upset with them for not being there for the major events in her life and though Luke Cage and Jessica Jones had a big hand in raising her, they are not her parents. She has a permanent job at handling Dani’s short fuse but she wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Like Dani, Lucy is very involved the community, but she has a lot of other outlets including knitting hats and managing the Instagram of her favorite little gremlin - her hairless cat Dobby. Lucy is the type of person who tends to put the focus on everyone but herself, something that the team does their best to curb. Very rarely is Lucy in any photos, mainly because she’s normally the one taking them. While she’s not field commander like Dani and El, she’s certainly the team negotiator when it comes to arguments. Needless to say with the amount of big personalities on the team, there is a fair share of fights she needs to break up and while Dani might be her best friend, Lucy’s most trusted companion is her jumbo sized bottle of migraine reliever pills.

Lucy’s Playlist: Like Dani’s playlist, Lucy’s playlist features a lot of black excellence, but completely genre. Like Lucy herself, it’s a playlist with a lot of Soul and with a focus on fluidity rather than high energy. It features Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Whitney Houston and Ari Lennox.

Rebecca “Bekka” LeBeau

Bekka LeBeau is an Earth-41001 canon character and the daughter of Remy LeBeau (Gambit) and Anna-Marie LeBeau (Rogue). She inherited her father’s kinetic manipulation and her mother’s enhanced durability and flight. A complete Daddy’s Girl, she’s an incredibly gifted thief and has a penchant for using her abilities to blow shit up. However, instead of using playing cards, Bekka’s weapon of choice is…random objects from the dollar store? Don’t be surprised to see this chick throws weaponized plastic army men or marbles at your face. Despite her charisma, revolving door of men and natural extroversion, Bekka rarely opens up to people nor does she let people get close to her. This is a result of a very traumatic event in her childhood that completely changed both of her and older brother’s lives and caused her mutation to develop early at the age of eight. Due to this, she often suffers from nightmares and can be seen putting her absurdly gifted baking skills to work in the middle of the night. She’s the unofficial chef of the team and has introduced the team to a lot of Cajun cuisine. She’s a proud New Orleans girl and prepared to stomp your Southern stereotypes out of you. A running gag with Bekka is that despite being a very observant person, she is a penchant for refusing to see what’s right in front of her if she doesn’t want to see it such as her brother and best friend hooking up or that a certain ginger SHIELD agent is madly in love with her.

Bekka’s Playlist: Like Bekka herself, her playlist is a mixture of old school, new old and a little bit of subtle darkness. It has a mixture of Old School jazz, Classic Country and Southern Rock. It features Billie Holiday, Delta Rae, Dolly Parton and Gin Wigmore.

May “Mayday” Parker

Mayday Parker is an Earth-982 canon character and the daughter of Peter Parker (Spider-Man) and Mary Jane Watson. She inherited Peter’s enhanced physiology and wall-crawling abilities. While Mayday has her father’s intelligence, smart mouth and penchant for science, she’s more of an athlete than a nerd. She’s an avid lover of basketball and even played two years of Division Three basketball at Empire State University. She is a very frustrated New York Knicks and New York Mets fan and is often antagonized by Dani Cage, who has a tendency to be a very obnoxious Yankees fan. Though Mayday has a spot on the Daughters of Liberty team and often works outside the team as a research chemist, she has struggled with her identity since she stopped playing basketball. While she is currently Spider-Girl, she always views it more as her continuing her father’s work rather it being her own thing. Despite being incredibly bright and formidable fighter, Mayday also struggles with a lack of confidence and anxiety. She is often makes sarcastic jokes and often at her own expense. Mayday is loyal friend and often agonizes over the fact her superhero duties sometimes make her break her promises to her friends and family. However, she’s found a good support system in her girlfriend Nancy Lu, a telekinetic member of the X-Men and in her mentor, Val Richards. Though she is seven years older, Mayday often mothers her younger sister Annie, whom she sees as reckless and impulsive.

Mayday’s Playlist: This playlist is a mixture of Alternative and Rock music. It has a lot of songs that deal with self-esteem and discovering who are you is enough. It features Paramore, Avril Lavigne, Halsey and P!nk.

Anne “Annie” Parker

Annie Parker is Earth-18119 canon character and the daughter of Peter Parker (Spider-Man) and Mary Jane Watson. Like her sister, she inherited her father’s enhanced physiology and wall-crawling abilities but that’s where their similarities end. Like her mother, Annie is an incredibly outgoing personality. With her love for pink, glitter and partying, most people look at Annie and think of her nothing more than an empty-headed party girl who does stupid shit and has nothing to add to the conversation. Wrong! Annie has one of the world’s highest IQs and is usually the smartest person in the room. She’s gifted in both sciences and mathematics. At the start of the story, she’s a student at Empire State University and is pursuing two degrees in Mathematics and Physics. She’s got an endemic memory which helps her manage her schoolwork, hero work and social life. Annie wasn’t initially invited to be a part of the team, but Mayday convinced Val and El to bring her on in hopes of curbing Annie’s partying. She’s a bit of hedonist and often does things to an excess. Since she was a child, Annie has been known for her bubbly attitude and infectiously positive attitude. This was developed at a young age as she rarely saw her older sister happy (not understanding that her sister suffered from depression and anxiety) and she made it her personal mission to make Mayday smile. Annie is a fearless girl with a big heart who doesn’t often think before putting herself in harm’s way, which unknowing stresses out her older sister more.

Annie’s Playlist: This playlist features a lot of Pop, Hip-Hop and Dance music. It’s high energy, upbeat and makes you just want to have a good time. Honestly, a good chunk of these songs have featured on RuPaul’s Drag Race as Lip Sync for your life songs. (Annie is a massive RuPaul fan). It features Arianna Grande, Britney Spears, Rihanna and Tove Lo.

Meredith “Mere” Pryde

Meredith Pryde is an Earth-41001 canon character and the daughter of Piotr Rasputin (Colossus) and Kitty Pryde (Shadow Cat). She inherited her mother’s phasing power, tech skills and ability to make epic callouts. She inherited almost nothing from her father, whom she doesn’t really remember since he died when she was young. She was raised mainly by her mother and her aunt Illyana Rasputin. Meredith joined the Daughters of Liberty so she didn’t have to deal with her brother Cameron second-guessing all of her choices and telling her to calm down. When Meredith sees injustice, she does her best to correct the situation and she doesn’t care who she has to call out. When she’s not doing work for the Daughters of Liberty, Meredith is active activist who is involved in various projects but especially on mutants’ rights. She attends and supports every march she can and her instagram is full of all her favorite protest and march signs that she sees. Aside from being involved in activism, Meredith’s second favorite activity is trolling her teammates, especially those who tend to be nonplussed about things. She’s notorious for her pranks and for playfully flirting with her teammates’ siblings to make them uncomfortable, namely Bekka. While she’s a notorious flirt, she has no interest in relationships and will punch you in the face if you ask her if she has a boyfriend or girlfriend. Though she is involved with the Daughters of Liberty and various movements, Meredith often suffers from loneliness because she doesn’t have a lot of time for herself and fostering her friendships. She’s every girl’s friend, but no one’s best friend.

Meredith’s Playlist: This playlist highlights Meredith’s confidence and unapologetic nature. She is who she is, and you can take it or leave it. It’s an eclectic list which has mixture of Pop Rock, Pop, Alternative and R&B music. It features Superchick, Billie Eilish, Lily Allen and Icona Pop.

Wendy Nguyen

Wendy Nguyen is a character Shea and I made up, she is not related to anyone. Shocker. She’s a licensed therapist who often treats other superheroes and was actually assigned to El Rogers after the death of her father. She is an empath who is capable of sensing people’s emotions and when she touches them, she gets not only your emotions but your thoughts and even your memories. Her senses are incredibly strong and she often cannot be in the same room when someone is feeling things a bit too strongly, particularly her teammate Maya Ayala during the team’s first year together. Because she feels people’s emotions so strongly, Wendy is often confused whose emotions she is feeling - hers or someone else’s. This is one of the reasons it took her so long for her to admit her feelings for Val. Wendy is often seen as a quiet and thoughtful person who does her best to make her teammates confront their feelings for both her sake and theirs. She has an affinity for tea and has the world’s most absurd tea cabinet which is filled with tea from all over the world from her many travels. She also as an affinity for butterflies, which she views as being similar to human emotions - intense, sometimes beautiful but fleeting and fragile. Wendy often wears gloves to keep herself from accidentally touching others and taking their thoughts and memories without their permission. The ethics of her ability sometimes is a struggle for her since while they allow her to be good at job, however she feels them without control or consent from others. She rarely goes out with her friends in public areas mainly because being around so many people who are feeling a variety emotions is too much for her and causes her to have splitting headaches.

Wendy’s Playlist: Best described as folksy and acoustic. Wendy prefers most chilled out music because feeling others’ emotions can be very overwhelming. However, there’s a range of emotion here because she feels a lot. It features Of Monsters and Men, Regina Spektor, Jolie Holland and Hannah Connelly.

Yasmin “Yas” Khan

Yasmin Khan is a character Shea and I made up, she’s the niece of Kamala Khan (Miss Marvel). Like her aunt, Yasmin has Inhuman heritage alongside holding Pakistani and African heritages from her parents, Aamir and Tyesha. She was exposed to the Terrigen Mists and gained abilities similar to her father in which she can create psychic force fields, however she also has telekinesis and touch-telepathy. Yasmin is a practicing Muslim and while most of the women don’t wear hijabs nor expect her to wear one, she often feels to try and normalize Muslim practices in a society that is suspicious and often hateful towards her culture. She likes to joke that it covers up her bad hair days. Yasmin loves fashion and color, and though she is often the most modest wearing person in the room, she is definitely the most colorful and enjoys outrageous patterns. She is a big lover of pop culture and can often be seen playing Pokemon Go and watching shows on Crunchy Roll on her phone. She has a massive sweet tooth and can be seen in the kitchens watching Bekka bake in hopes of being allowed to have a bite. Though she doesn’t drink, she is best friends with Annie and often accompanies her on nights out and makes sure her friend doesn’t get into any trouble. Yasmin is one of the few people who isn’t out with her personal identity and this is mainly due to her fear of people hurting her family due to the rampant Muslim prejudice in the United States. As one of the youngest members of the team, her teammates are incredibly protective of her and have actually a designated plan ready to cheer her up if they ever see Yasmin is upset, which is called Operation: Yas Smiles.

Yas’s Playlist: Like Meredith, Yap’s playlist is very colorful and has a diverse range of generics from R&B to Soul and Rap. It has a range of emotions since while Yas is a very cheerful person and absolute sweetheart, there’s some anger there at how she and other Muslims are treated. It features Mona Haydar, SassyBlack, Daya and Azealia Banks.

Maya Ayala

Maya Ayala is a character Shea and I made up, she’s the daughter of Hector Ayala (White Tiger) and the niece of Ava Ayala (White Tiger). Nothing happy ever happens to the Ayala family and unfortunately that saga continues with Maya, who witnessed her entire family and boyfriend being murdered in front of her during a shoot out in the Bronx. She took up the mantle of White Tiger and has been on a search to find their murderer. Before becoming the current incarnation of the White Tiger, Maya was a former competitive gymnast who was almost on the United States Olympic team and was working as a gymnastics coach. However, since the incident, she’s put all of her energy into getting revenge for her family and joined the Daughters of Liberty to honor her aunt and to use her resources to get justice. While her focus is on revenge, her greatest desire is to see her family and her boyfriend again. At the beginning, she kept herself from her teammates because she didn’t want to get attached, but after awhile, she became very close with Wendy, Val, Dani and Lucy. Maya has a secret love for telenovelas which she tries to keep quiet because she’s afraid of being seen as stereotypical. Despite this, she’s very proud Latina and gets pissed off when people write her off as “Mexican” or “foreign,” especially since her family hails from Puerto Rico and she’s just as American as anyone else. However, occasionally she does share her culture with the others, and occasionally makes arroz con gandules and pollo guisado with Bekka for the team.

Maya’s Playlist: This is list is a mixture of Latin Pop, Alternative and R&B. It holds a mixture of Maya before the loss of her family and after. A lot of the latin pop are from gymnastic routines she would create. However, there’s also a lot of anger and sadness here, which is understandable. It features Audri Nix, Ciara, Lana Del Rey and Skylar Grey.

skz as art school students

note: this is pretty much a high school au. since I just graduated and I had the random thought of “stray kids at my weird ass art school” so if you’d like full stories about art school!skz request it in my inbox thank u ily

bang chan

everyone knows chan as the art school king.

he is such a versatile artist so he wanted to try out all of the art forms the school offers.

he’s tried many classes in different departments and of course he excelled in all of them.

the teachers love him because he’s so good at what he does and he always has a positive attitude when it comes to the different art forms.

he played guitar and piano for band, sang in vocal, studied modern dance, acted in theatre, and so much more.

this guy was good at everything and everyone either looked up to him or was jealous of him.

out of all the art forms he could have focused in, he chose recording arts.

he liked how he could incorporate his love for writing and music so that he can produce his own songs.

he self produces all of his own songs, writes his own lyrics, sometimes sings/raps himself, and even collaborates with underclassmen changbin and jisung.

overall just an extremely talented artist and can succeed in any art form he chooses.

woojin

dear lord woojin is a king within the vocal program.

right when he started the art school he joined the vocal program without any prior experience and everyone was blown away.

he was gifted with an amazing singing voice that had to be shared with the whole world.

his solos are so good that the audience always comes to the next shows just to hear him sing.

although woojin is an amazing vocalist, he is very humble and very kind towards his other classmates

people expect him to be front and center all the time, but he actually wants the other students to get their time in the spotlight.

since he is known for his singing abilities, the recording arts students always try to get him to be a part of their songs or recording pieces.

one time he was a part of the school’s musical even though he didn’t have any background in acting, but almost every show was sold old because of him.

he’s even collaborated with band to perform live jazz songs which people also love.

he just loves to sing and be an artist and wants to continue performing on stage.

minho

minho dedicates so much of his time and energy into the dance department.

he’s been in the dance department for the longest and has participated in almost every show at school.

most of his free time was in the dance studio but occasionally he would be hanging out with his friends.

his actual personality vs his stage presence is so different it even makes the teachers confused.

outside of school he also studies dance at different studios which means even more shows that he has to participate in.

he has performed in hundreds of “nutcracker’s” and he’s getting pretty tired of it.

not only is he a great dancer, but he is also a great choreographer.

he has choreographed performances for himself, his class, and the students who are taking the beginner classes.

everyone loves seeing him in the dance studio as he comes up with new choreography and also its kinda hot not gonna lie.

changbin

when first coming to the art school he wasn’t sure what he wanted to focus in so he tried everything.

eventually he chose recording arts since he was able to incorporate some of his interests and allowed him more creative freedom.

he enjoys producing his own music, making beats for others, writing lyrics, and more.

he would get help from the other art form teachers when it came to writing or music composition because he just wants to get better.

aside from chan, changbin is the student who is in the recording studio the longest.

before, during, and after school he is in the recording studio coming up with new songs and beats.

he also has experience as a dj so he's the one the school pays to play at all of the school dances.

one year the school had someone else dj a school dance and almost the entire student body wanted changbin back because he actually has good taste in music.

changbin knows what people want to listen to, but he also isn't afraid of experimenting with new sounds.

hyunjin

a part of the dance program with minho.

he is incredibly talented as a dancer and everyone knows him.

people just like to watch him perform because not only is he good looking but his stage presence is captivating.

hyunjin has participated in many dance shows throughout the year and enjoys every one of them.

like other upper level dancers, he also takes classes outside of school so that he gets the practice he needs.

which is why he is usually busy.

he helps out the visual artists and photo students as a model because look at him he is literally ethereal but also he likes to help his fellow classmates.

he also enjoys being a part of vocal, but unfortunately he couldn’t fit it in his schedule.

he continues to do singing and likes to write his own lyrics that he shares with his recording arts friends.

an amazing choreographer who makes dance pieces for his solos and teaches some of his choreographies to the lower level classes.

jisung

originally jisung started out in the literary arts program.

jisung wasn’t much of a multi-chapter or long story writer, but likes writing short stories and song lyrics.

sometimes in his writing class, he would perform the songs he self composed and people loved it!!

people usually asked why he wasn’t focusing in music and he says that he just wants to improve on his song writing abilities.

that was when his friend, changbin, suggested recording arts.

once he joined recording arts, he dedicated so much of his time in it.

during school hours, he is found in the recording arts studio with changbin and chan where they would all come up with new beats and making songs together.

he really enjoyed producing music and is one of the youngest students within the recording arts department.

he also hands out physical copies of the albums he has made and will casually promote his soundcloud to other students.

felix

felix is a part of the dance department, but also got convinced to join vocal and recording arts.

his friends begged him to be a part of vocal because he was the only person that could hit all of the low notes so he joined for just a year.

then he was dragged into recording arts.

he wasn’t an official student of the class, but he was seen in the studio a lot with his group of friends who called themselves 3racha.

he was a vocalist and rapper for some of their songs and he was GOOD.

no matter what he is a dedicated and very talented dancer.

he practices a lot in the school’s dance studio in the mornings and local studios in the afternoons.

he likes performing with minho and hyunjin because they also make their own choreography and just likes dancing with his friends.

occasionally he sneaks in meme dances in the actual choreography and it pisses off the teacher.

although watching him perform his solos during dance shows is actually breathtaking.

seungmin

many people thought he would be a part of the vocal program, but he is actually in the photo department.

he doesn’t talk much about his photography, but everyone loves his art!

when there’s gallery shows, his photos are some of the main pieces that are showed.

seungmin always carries his camera around just in case he sees something that catches his eye.

he carries it to all of his classes, to school, to work, and while hanging out with his friends.

his laptop is almost out of storage because of all the photo files he has.

he always begs his friends to be models for his photoshoots or help with lighting or props or other things.

no one can really say no it him so everyone agrees to help him out.

other students even PAY him to take their photos whether it be for senior photos, prom, weddings, etc.

he’s won a lot of photography contests and had his art featured in photography/art magazines.

jeongin

jeongin is a dedicated music student.

he is mainly a vocal kid, but also plays piano for some of the band classes.

other students love his style of singing and also the fact that he has the ability in singing trot.

he has this bright personality that makes the class light up and always tries to keep an uplifting environment.

he’s in the upper level vocal class, but he’s also the youngest.

since he is the youngest, he gets lots of help from the older students whether he asks for it or not.

pretty much either you love jeongin or you haven't met him yet.

he hasn’t done much self composing but would like to work on it later in his school career.

one year the school added music theory as a course option he decided to join it.

he actually liked learning about music theory and later some of his friends joined the class with him.

fihi guys i know i died and shit but during my time in the after life i listened to fine line several times and i can’t rank it cause every song is my favourite song but here are some of my thoughts:

golden: such a good song, great way to open an album and pretend you’re not gonna rip out my soul and every part of my later on. it makes me inexplicably happy and that instrumental part just sounds like what i think the sun would sound like even though i cried once listening to it??? idk quarantie does things to you but anyway the dah dah dah dah.. hits different

watermelon sugar: i know i know the local song. but it is for a reason and thats cause it slAps. i have no clue why he released this album in december but im not here to judge the art. just tell you i love it.

adore you: can i just say... such a good music video. not many are shot with that kind of filter and i love it. its so bizarre but thats why its good. it also blends seamlessly from watermelon sugar which i appreciate. the beats. ugH a bop

lights up: this song is SOOOO slept on. lights up was literally the debut single and its nobody’s favourite and i think thats offensive. it sounds just so... cool ?? idk how to put it but it sounds like it’d be in the background during a movie where the protagonist goes to their love interest’s house party even though they really don’t wanna go.

cherry: i lied this is my second favourite song. WHO HAD THE RIGHT TO MAKE HIM THIS SAD ???? but its sooooo good. like it sounds completely different from the rest of the album even though every song has a super distinct sound, and i once listened to this song 34 times on loop. no regrets

falling: i have a confession to make. the first time i watched the mv my phone wasn’t working so there was only a black screen but the audio continued to play and i genuinely thought that was an artistic choice and “watched” the whole music video twice like that before i realized i was a dumbass. but otherwise, i feel like this is one of the strongest songs vocally. like he just sounds so good and i love the piano and softness of this song.

to be so lonely: another favourite. it is so funky and such a bop and i already have 34 ideas for the music video. just even the first 6 seconds have me feeling things. i have no idea what he is doing or whats happening but i love it. i feel like especially after the most depressing and emotional song on the album (cherry fyi) and then the lowest point of the album, this is the perfect song for the second half.

she: THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM I WILL HEAR NO OTHER OPINIONS. like is it about his repressed feminine side ?? is it about an idealistic lover ?? i have no clue (but its the probably the first cause hes just artsy like that). the instrumental again, so good. also i love the soul pop sound to it as well, like honestly its perfect. i could go on for days on how much i love the song without even syaing why once. i also might just have a playlist of only she, cherry and to be so lonely that i play while i sleep with a vpn on to bring up the the number of streams and get harry his coin. maybe.

sunflower vol. 6: this is another happy bop and it makes me smile. it sounds like summer and yellow and pastel pink and white picket fences and cute little homes with rocking chairs. the pre-chorus literally makes me feel feelings i didn’t know i could and then the chorus hits me like a glitter bomb. and i love it. holy shit and when he takes that big breath??? i want that sound to play at my funeral.

canyon moon: another funky songggg i love it. this whole album could be in an indie film or maybe the film that i’ve been writing a screenplay for but will never make because i need a stable career... holy shit now im sad anyways. this song is really happy so i dont know why im so sad. also my name was gonna be jennifer and i don’t know why my parents chose angela over jennifer cause then i would be in a harry song. anyways... im still sad buts its fine.

treat people with kindness: yall better do that. i see those disgusting racists. fuck you. thats all i have to say

fine line: also the most depressing song. how?? idk. but they both are. this is also the longest song and im glad he didn’t make it shorter or smth to make it radio friendly cause its beautiful. i love this and its the most cruel way to end an album because its so sad, especially after tpwk but anyways

King of Prism SSS Episode 9 commentary (Alexander)

FINALLY!!!!! Finally I can talk about a few big things from this series I have been dying to talk about....

...............What did I sign myself up for.

A quick rundown of what it says here: More and more people are becoming interested in the street-style and choosing to be street-style stars since the Prism King Cup. In the graph, the gold portion is academy-style and the silver is street-style, before -> after the Prism King Cup. Below it points out that Kazuki and Hiro’s “sparking” scores from the Prism King Cup (the Prism Watch data) were equal and suggests Schwartz Rose needs to step up their game in the street category.

Every time I laugh at this.

Every time I feel kinda bad afterwards.

But

So Ace was entered as an official participant. It says “reserve”, but still. I guess that may have helped to make Joji’s score possible and not break the system.

(In between writing my episode 5 commentary post and now, I got to read the interview with the director in spoon2Di where he confirmed that Joji’s high score was only because Ace joined in what was supposed to be a solo show.)

Flashy, huh. We’re going with flashy this time for “charachara”.... Okay. (Better than gaudy I guess.)

I love this so much. Kakeru coming outside just to watch Taiga exercise and get all sweaty and all that. I wonder how long he stood there. Or rather I wonder how long he watched with binoculars after heading back inside.

I’m such a dumbass. After episode 3 aired someone pointed out that this is Taiga’s mom vs. Alec’s mom, and my excuse for not noticing then was that it’s in the background and such. (Can’t pause the movie in the theater and didn’t think to check it afterwards.) But here the camera actually pans over them slowly, so yeah I have no excuse.

But regardless. Amazing!!

Another thing I didn’t catch in the theater. But I have never had a reason to know the Japanese word for asthma before. I’m glad that gave him an actual reason for being sickly instead of just.... sickly child syndrome.

But really though, their relationship is pretty damn interesting.

I wonder if she knows he borrowed her clothes.

No I don’t know why these grown-ass men have nothing better to do than pick on an actual seven year old child...............

So uh. This line confused me for the longest time. The way he says it, I really thought he was giving “Daikokuno” as another last name and I thought it was some kind of DJ KOO reference I didn’t get or something.

But thanks to Crunchyroll I finally realized.... ITS A PLACE. He’s just saying where he’s from, and that’s how Alexander is able to find him. GOOD LORD IM SUCH A DUMBASS.......... Another point for Crunchyroll.

It wouldn’t give me the cycling time, but yeah, you can imagine.

They only have this one image of Rei doing a jump and gosh darn they are gonna use it to the fullest.

So during this scene and the next people cheer for Rei in the theater, but nobody really knows what color he is. There was a whole lot of variation at the beginning before people (in Nagoya at least) finally settled on red. (For the flames maybe? I don’t know if it’s official.....)

Alexander actually had a flashback to this moment on Prism Rush during the Road to SSS 9 event. I reblogged it recently on my @prism-rush blog trying to disguise it as part of my Alexander birthday spam. (It wasn’t.)

But anyway.

I can finally FINALLY talk about this!!! Even though I knew it would probably be all over Twitter, I really wanted to protect this spoiler on Tumblr if I could. It was such a big deal to me when I saw it in the theater and I really wanted you guys to have the opportunity to be as blown away as I was. I could not possibly think of anything to say about it that wouldn’t be a hint, so all I could say all this time was just that Alexander’s episode has “a surprise” in it.... SURPRISE!!!

But yeah, when I saw this for the first time I thought it just came out of NOWHERE. Total shock! I thought this was not predictable at all!

But then it hit me. All of a sudden I remembered something. Something important.

Again, in Road to SSS event 9....

So, for folks who follow my @prism-rush blog, remember that one Alexander PR where he was looking into a box? And nobody knew what was in the box? But there was something weird following him? I even mentioned it and my confusion over it in my summary of that event. WELL GUESS WHAT.

We finally know what was in the box don’t we.

I asked a friend to see the card story to fill in the blanks and see if there were any obvious hints to what was going on at the time, and it’s just mentioned as a strange animal he picked up. Alexander struggles with what to do and not really wanting to take care of it, but then he asks himself what Rei would do..... (Whether he could see Momo at that time, I do not know ahah....)

So in the beginning after seeing Part 1 in theaters I said on Tumblr that the Road to SSS events from Prism Rush didn’t have much to do with the SSS anime, and most of them didn’t and still don’t. All of course except for Road to SSS 9, just that one, which ended up being way more important than I would have ever imagined. And this isn’t even the only reason either, there is also--

SO UH anyway Road to SSS 9 took place in June, so this flashback is taking place in June DURING Road to SSS 9. A very roundabout way to dating the episode, but really cool. I like how Road to SSS was significant after all.

And another surprise for me. In the theatrical version he’s not glowing here. They wanted to emphasize that he’s powering up I suppose eheh. I was really freaking out about this in the stream chat. SO COOL.

To the right of his little dragon house you’ll see some “dorayaki” because.....

Although they never actually mention it in the anime, his name is Dorachi. (Confirmed on Twitter.)

(Note: Dorayaki is also the favorite food of classic Japanese character Doraemon.)

Even though Dorachi doesn’t talk in this episode, in the theatrical special video for Alexander he talks A LOT. An UNFAIR amount. So much I do not remember most of what he said since I only saw it once and it went by so fast.

But his real name is very long (like the manager names from PriPara) and he talks about spreading the prism sparkle. I’m sorry, that’s honestly all I remember right now.

Will he show up again in the main anime before the end?

(Okay yes.)

And at least they gave you guys was a bit of original(??) art of him in the new ending.

Urrgh..... okay so.............. When I first was watching this with you guys in the stream I was like UGH because I don’t think “flashy” fits here at all. I really wished they had stuck with “playboy” since it would work better with this scene.

But then when I watched it again, I realized they already used “flashy” once in this episode to describe Kazuki’s sweater, and it did kinda work there.

If we go back to my episode 3 commentary, my main complaint with Crunchyroll’s translation of “charachara” was actually less about the words they used, and more about how it just wasn’t consistent.

This episode..... is consistent.

Another little thing in SSS I have spent way too much time thinking over is how Joji got here.

In every episode up until now, it’s always been Louis seen walking beside Jin like his pet. But in this episode. JUST THIS EPISODE.... it’s Joji instead.

I think the reason is because Louis is performing next, so he has to rest (since he’s not exactly in the condition he once was.....) So Joji scooped up the opportunity.

Whatever the reason, I find it really interesting.

In a weird way I actually think he’s cuter here than in the Prism King Cup

This song.... was not quite what I was expecting for Alec, but I love it. No part of me anticipated he’d just launch into a ballad but WOW. I just love how they picked something that really shows off his beautiful voice like this. Alexander is in my top three singing voices in King of Prism (1: Hiro, 2: Taiga, 3: Alexander) so I loved hearing him belting this out.

Now time for my like.... 4th(?) embarrassing confession in this post.... I had no idea this song was a cover until like AN HOUR before this episode aired. You guys were playing TRF songs in the stream, the original came on, and while y’all were like “what should we watch next” I was sitting there like “!!!!!!!!FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF”

Well, it’s a new song to me. And I think it’s perfect for him.

Poor Joji and his inconveniently timed fruit.

He finally gets to spend time with Jin, and he just can’t get a break.

I love the generation gap here. Kazuki’s existence has been so big to Taiga he can only think of Kazuki. But Kazuki and Hijiri are able notice the subtle differences that make this an OG Rei move.

I could certainly spend a whole lot of text speculating why Alexander did not change into his battle suit, but I won’t waste your time and just admit I have no idea. I’m glad he doesn’t, since it keeps the spotlight on Alexander since HE CAN’T PERFORM ONE GODDAMN SHOW WITHOUT TAIGA BARGING IN ON HIM BUT MMMRGGHGHG

TAIGA YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER

Yeah I was SO MAD about this when I first saw it at the midnight showing.

A lot of people change to green when Taiga comes out, but I do not. This is the only battle where I cheer for Alexander the whole time.

Not only was I mad at Taiga for being so dumb, but just mad at the whole concept of Taiga barging into Alexander’s one show to do basically the same jumps we saw in Pride the Hero again.....

But.....

Nowadays I forgive my idiot son. And I hope you do too.

This wasn’t the moment I forgave him. No, that’s coming later. I was mad at him for an entire month. But yeah.

He’s just so confident and everyone believes in him................................

So Alexander breaks the street-style curse and gets a damn good score. Higher than Taiga’s original score.

But just like Joji’s score was due to Ace, I can’t help but think Alexander’s score was a good deal due to Taiga.........

I had a feeling this would happen.

I knew long before Part 3.

Even back when I had only just seen Part 1.... I just knew the tables would turn in this episode.

Maybe it would be difficult to guess by watching week-to-week, but for me having Alexander’s episode as the last episode of the theatrical Part 3 just seemed like it would be WAAAAAY too much of a coincidence otherwise. So I had a strong feeling Schwarz would come out ahead at the end of this one. (I didn’t guess the reason would be because Taiga would get a penalty, but yeah.) And especially because the performances are kind of out of order to make this work? Up until now I thought all of the Schwarz Rose boys performed first, but Yu was up before Alec? And Louis is up next. Maybe it wasn’t a guaranteed thing that the Schwarz Boys always go first, but I noticed it.

So up until now score has not mattered much as Edel Rose has just sailed on though. But now it does. It matters a lot.

So this is the second surprise of this episode, and why I was saying it’s the beginning of the chain of events that lead to the end.

But about score mattering now, one of the reasons I have been questioning Taiga’s score the whole time is because I knew this was going to happen. So I just.... I just hope Taiga’s score wasn’t lower to begin with on purpose for mathematical reasons so they could get their desired progression of the overall score or something. IDK.

I don’t blame Rei for not figuring it out right away. Even though I KNOW this is Alexander, I still have trouble connecting his younger and older selves. I mean, getting muscular doesn’t make your eye shape completely change does it....?

Poor Kazuki. He doesn’t care.

So if I interpreted this episode correctly....

This was Alexander’s official transition from an antagonist to a protagonist. (Or just to a normal rival at least.)

During the first two movies and for a good long time of Prism Rush, he always played the part of the villain. But once Road to SSS started that began to change. We saw him reminiscing about Rei, making awkward conversation with Louis, struggling over forming a duo with Joji, etc. So I had a strong feeling they were taking his character in this direction, but this right here was the official turning point I believe.

No more destroying stadiums. From now on he’ll be spreading the prism sparkle with Dorachi.

And still trying to beat Kazuki but you know.

So I don’t have a source handy (if someone challenges me to find one I’ll dig it up) but I remember I read one time that Alexander was actually originally a character that was only created for the first movie. But then they realized they had to keep him on when he was just so popular.

So if you have ever supported Alexander, this episode was for you. Fans make King of Prism possible.

So.... one more thing I guess. Something I learned from the Minato episode was that even if I ignore controversy and specifically state I don’t want to talk about it, it still finds its way into my inbox anyhow. So I might as well get this over with I guess.

After Young of Prism Alexander was revealed to have light skin, someone told me a theory that mixed race children are sometimes born with lighter skin which darkens as they grow older. So up until her design was revealed, I had always imagined Alexander’s mother as a black woman.

So yeah. I don’t know the reason for his darker skin color now.

But I’d like to point out that in this episode being pale was associated with being weak and unhealthy, while darker skin was associated with being healthy and strong and just leave it at that.

And thus ends Part 3.

Next week begins.................. what I have been dreading for a long time............

So up until now I have been pretty tight-lipped about spoilers. But once episode 10 airs, the floodgates will pretty much be open. Episode 10 and episode 11 are so connected it’s really hard to talk about one without the other. I mean, once you know about episode 10, I seriously might as well. So after episode 10 airs, at the bottom of my commentary post and after a warning I plan to share some episode 11 spoilers.

And I know how it’s gonna make you guys feel......

And since I was lucky enough to get some answers right away, I’m going to give you guys those same answers for those who want them so you don’t have to just sit on episode 10 for a week. I am not that kind of a monster. I won’t put you guys through that.

AFTER HOGWARTS.

So, the war is over ( a war that Harry has grown up fighting, mind you, the boy hasn’t had time for much else, has he now ? ) and people look to a teenager to continue being what he has been for the last seventeen years ( but what they’ve also rejected, when it suits the current tide of war ). But Harry James Potter doesn’t care much for being a beacon of hope ( of clarity, of light ), anymore. He’s not their symbol ( but at the same time, he knows that he will always be just that ).

The aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts itself is a blur, for him. Tugged in every direction. Not so much a man, more of an object, something that his entire world feels entitled to. But he’s exhausted ( has he been able to breath properly for the last year, at all ? ). It’s too much for any seventeen year old, yet people expect him ( the boy who lived, never just Harry ), to carry it with gratitude, with a smile, with bravery.

The days after the final battle, he feels very little, barely anything at all. All he really does is sleep.

The mark on his back is gone ( the one on his face isn’t ), but it doesn’t feel like it. Sure, he doesn’t have to fear for his life anymore, but the crowds are relentless. Suffocating him. He’s grieving, and all the masses ( the strangers, people who think that they know him because he’s famous ) want to do is hug him, shake his hand, clap him on the back. He tries to be understanding ( they’re grieving too, logically, he KNOWS that ). But by now, Harry is growing a little bit tired of being everyone’s emotional-support-boy-who-lived.

Anyways, a few weeks after the war ends, Harry falls off the map. Disappears from the grid. Could not be found, through any means. Some of his friends say that he rented a muggle car and drove through Europe. Others say that he just slept, refused to leave his house, so exhausted and depressed that he couldn’t be reached. Others are firm in their belief that he was busy hunting down the last of the Death Eaters. No one truly knows what Harry did, during those months. Only those closest to him have a vague idea.

He eventually returns, a little bit better. The weight on his shoulders lighter. Back to his former self ( though, he’s not quite sure who that was, this war has tried to consume him since boyhood ). His smile comes easier, it’s less weary. He has that Potter sparkle back in his gaze ( the one that makes his eyes look less like Lily’s, more likes James’, despite what the color might tell you ). He’s not at peace yet, but he will be ( his scar hasn’t hurt in months, that’s a start ).

Harry finds solace in his friends, that much has not changed. It was them he fought for, and it’s them that he continues to live for. The war never changed Harry’s capacity for love.

So, he’s back. People still look to him ( and they think that they know what he will do, ALWAYS always, always ). He can’t escape their eyes, their whispers, how they think that they know him. Most of the time, he hates it. But he’s also the type of guy to poke fun at it, doing his best to not take himself too seriously. Everything’s easier, that way.

Maybe he does it out of habit, or out of duty, but he does what he thinks will make the most people happy and joins the Aurors ( they had been nudging him in their direction ever since Voldemort fell, who wouldn’t want the famous Harry Potter in their ranks against the dark? ).

But Harry is just Harry, and Harry is so tired of being Harry Potter. For the first year after the war, the poor guy could barely go out for a drink without being mobbed, you know? The excitement eventually ebbed out ( thank god ) and became less exhausting, but it was still there, in smaller waves.

ANYWAYS ---- so he’s an auror. He doesn’t hate the work by any means, but he feels as though he has just gone from fighting one war, to fighting another. Which is really the last thing he needs right now? He still suffers from night terrors, about his friends dying, about Voldemort ( not so much Voldemort as other people remember him ----- in his dreams, Harry sees the Voldemort in limbo, at King’s Cross ). Eventually, those will go away too. Partly.

The Wizarding Wars have taken a lot of things away from Harry, and for that he is silently angry, a little bit, all the time. The war he fought may have ended —— but it’s still taking things from him. His agency, for one thing. Did he want to become an auror? Well, it would have been ONE possible path, but perhaps not the one he would have chosen first. Ever since the war, everyone just keep looking to him, to have him continue being the symbol of hope and greatness that he was during the last year of the war. But Harry is just Harry, you know? Not much has changed since that evening when Hagrid came to get him, all those years ago. But people just assume to know what The Chosen One will do next, and Harry’s just sort of…. along for the ride, for the most part, when it comes to that and his public image. Right now, he is just doing what he thinks is right, for the greater good. He does what he thinks is expected of him, what he thinks will make the most people happy. He’s not thinking of himself, at least not yet. I don’t think Harry even realizes that he has grown resentful, a little bit bitter, angry.

With that said, I really like the idea of post-war Harry as the biggest troll possible when it comes to the media. All those ridiculous rumors you read in the papers about The Boy Who Lived are often started by Harry himself !!!! It’s his way of gaining some of that agency back but also he just thinks it’s a fucking blast.

Constant bad jokes about how 'he didn’t die for this’ and ‘did we really defeat Voldemort so that you could’.... are PRIME coping mechanisms too!!!!

Never actually finished school but totally got away with it because he’s Harry Potter. Finally some perks, am I right.....

Overall, Harry IS concerned with being a good role model for the younger kiddos, but that year after the war? Harry was in a dark place, not fit for returning to school. Not fit for returning to anything, really.

Harry is a really good teacher and we ALL know this, so why isn’t this man teaching? It would be much better for his mental health too. Damn it.

With that said ----- I think this version of Harry will either continue down the auror route, eventually become head auror, but devote his life more to teaching the new aurors and reshape the auror department. BUT I have also always adored the idea of Harry returning to Hogwarts as a professor, taking up the position as the Defense against Dark Arts professor. We love full circles in this house !!!! I also think that would be really good for Harry, to be surrounded by kids ( who wouldn’t have really lived through the war, the boy who lived would just be a myth to them, it would be less dramatic, they’d soon forget that Harry has ever been anything other than their professor ).

Never really replaced Hedwig. These days, Harry uses various messenger birds and owls, mostly borrowing those of his friends. He did adopt a dog, though.

I don’t think Harry will be fully at peace until more time has run its course. He has been through so much trauma, way more than any man ( much less a boy ) should ever have to experience. The scars may fade ( no, not THAT one ), but they will never quite heal, not for him. BUT he will be at peace, eventually.

TLDR: Harry is an auror, right now. He hasn’t washed off his past, but he has come to terms with it, in a way.

PERSONALITY & OTHER FUN STUFF.

Harry Potter is compassionate, selfless, kind. Good at seeing the good. But also petty, impulsive, seething, moody. Bad at letting things go.

So incredibly brave, but shouldn’t have had to be? An eleven year old should not under any circumstances be led into the lion’s den and that’s that on that.

Has a hero complex, but it’s one that was forced upon him ( do not get me started on Albus Dumbledore, it will take up the rest of the intro ). Harry was LITERALLY just Harry, until suddenly, he wasn’t.

The sheer dumb bitch energy of this man sometimes....... Thank god for Ron and Hermione is all I’m gonna say.......

Masks a lot of his trauma and pain with bad jokes, sarcasm and a seemingly carefree attitude. Tries his best to play down a lot of things ( his pain, his fame, his trauma, what he did during the war ). But he has a really serious streak too.

With that said, Harry does struggle with PTSD and survivor’s guilt.

A total smart ass ( there’s no need to call me sir, professor? ). Harry has a sharp tongue aND is often much sassier than he should be, especially when challenged / when he sees something as unjust / when there’s someone that he just doesn’t like. But that sharpness can seep into his everyday life too.

Like I mentioned earlier, Harry is a total troll and will leak the most outrageous rumors that have 0% truth to them to the press. It’s all in good fun. Most of the time.

Honestly that thing Dan Radcliffe did when he wore the same shirt everyday for a month so that the pictures of him would all be un-usable is peak Harry behavior.

Harry would ultimately LIKE to forgive the remaining Death Eaters, the ones who has repented ( eg. The Malfoys ), but he is having a hard time with it. He is prone to spite and pettiness, and forgiveness ultimately doesn’t run easy in his veins. But the attempt IS there, and he doesn’t want to live with a sliver of bitterness in his heart, you feel?

The war hasn’t so much hardened him though, as it has softened him. Sure, it has made him weary, careful, closed off. But it has also made him kinder, more empathetic, more understanding, stronger in his sense of self.

Isn’t as rich as he used to be. Used a large chunk of his fortune after the war to help victims of the war to get back onto their feet. Anonymously of course. Harry has no desire to make headlines, ever again.

Refuses interviews. Most of the time. Only The Quibbler will get an ounce of truth out of Harry.

TIME CLASH.

Harry has always had a family ( a found family, his friends, family doesn’t end in blood ), but suddenly everything has been amplified, he has his parents back, his godfather, their friends. But they’re all his age, they don’t recognize him ( but he barely recognize them, either ---- if it hadn’t been for staring himself blind at their photographs, he wouldn’t know them ). It’s basically like The Erised Mirror Extreme Version, for Harry.

But there are also The Death Eaters ------- and the fear of having to go back, be the figurehead of yet another war that he has to sacrifice EVERYTHING for. Frankly, Harry has had quite enough. He doesn’t want to be their Atlas, anymore. But at the same time, his parents are back. And he doesn’t want to lose them again. AND he knows that they’d fight this war for him. Which makes him want to fight this war for them. Can you see where I’m going for this? It’s a really tumultuous time for Harry, he’s confused and just a little bit lost.

AND then there are the KIDS !!!!!! HIS KIDS !!!!!!!!! It’s a total mind fuck, Harry doesn’t feel ready to be a father, nor does he feel that the world is ready for him to have children. But his children are all grown up and from the future. He wants to protect their future, their peace.

It’s a little bit selfish too. Harry wants that peace for himself. He wants all to be well, you know?

Celebrity Crushing (D.S)

Summary: Y/n’s celebrity crush and recent friend, Dylan O’Brien, strikes a hint of jealousy in her boyfriend, which leads to a heated argument

Warnings? Just some swearing as usual and I didn’t proof read so potential typos

Word Count: 2.1k

A/n: I haven’t written an imagine in literally FOREVER so this is probably actual garbage. Anywho I hope the few of you who are still active enjoy reading this :) I also have to redo the tag list because I forgot who’s on it so let me know if you want to be added!

"Do I look okay?” you asked Daniel when you saw his figure appear in the reflection behind you as you smoothed out the shirt you had just put on.

“Beautiful as always, where are you going?” he asked.

“Didn’t I already tell you?” you asked, being pretty sure you already mentioned your plans, “Dylan invited me over with some people, just a casual hang out.”

“So why do you care about looking good?” Daniel asked, laughing slightly as he rested his head on your shoulder, placing a gentle kiss in the crook of your neck.

“I don’t know, because they’re all like...popular and cooler than me,” you joked, turning around and getting your things ready to be able to go meet everyone.

“Not true, are really cool boyfriends allowed?” he asked, raising his eyebrows at you suggestively.

“I didn’t ask Dyl, but I could if you want me to,” you shrugged.

Daniel felt a tinge of jealousy rise when he heard the nickname you had given to Dylan. He didn’t care that you were friends with other guys, you were super close with all the other band members and had guy friends of your own, but Dylan was different.

He had been your celebrity crush for the longest time. Being a huge fan of Teen Wolf and the Maze Runner series as well, Dylan O’Brien was someone you lowkey fangirled over, and Daniel knew it.

He never had a problem with it, because obviously everyone has celebrity crushes, and Daniel found it almost amusing how you reacted when you saw pictures or watched him on screen.

You had actually met Dylan for the first time a few months back at an event you both ended up being at. After talking there for a while, you both exchanged numbers and became friends.

Obviously you were ecstatic, and thought he was a really awesome person, but Daniel sometimes had different feelings towards the friendship you and Dylan had started.

“Dyl?” Daniel said under his breath, rolling his eyes a little. He noticed you didn’t hear him, and was sort of grateful for that in the moment.

“He says you can come,” you smiled, reaching your arm out to him, waiting for him to take your hand, “we have to go now though, I’m already gonna be late!”

Dylan opened his front door, cheering loudly when he saw you, pulling you into a tight hug, which you happily reciprocated.

“Hey Daniel,” he grinned, pulling Daniel in for a hug as well before stepping away from the doorway, letting you both through into the beautiful house. You admired the art hanging on the walls as you walked down the hall into the living room, where people were already sprawled out on couches, snacks and drinks in hand.

You and Daniel found a spot on the couch after greeting everyone who had already arrived, and picked up on the conversation they were having.

“Y/N I was actually telling them about when we first met and how we became friends and stuff,” Dylan said as he sat on the other side of you.

“Yeah definitely did not expect to actually become friends but I’m happy we did,” you grinned, hitting his side lightly with your elbow, earning a laugh from him in return.

Dylan grabbed the popcorn bowl you had placed on your lap, shoving a handful in his mouth.

“Asshole did I say you could take that?” you challenged. You reached over to grab it back but Dylan pulled it away, leaving it out of reach.

“I didn’t know I needed your permission,” Dylan teased and you reached again, being unable to reach it from where you were sitting.

You climbed over him, slightly sitting on his lap, grabbing the bowl and throwing a few pieces at his face before taking your spot back beside Daniel, who’s eyebrows were furrowed as he watched your interaction beside him.

“You’re such a shit,” you laughed as Dylan tossed a piece of popcorn back at you, a smirk dancing across his face.

Daniel stayed pretty quiet most of the time, and couldn’t help but get upset over you and Dylan. To him, it always seemed like you were teasing each other flirtatiously, and you had so much to say and laughed at everything Dylan said. Daniel felt as if you forgot he was even there sitting next to you, except for the few times he joined in conversations or you turned back to give him a smile.

You, on the other hand, didn’t think anything of it, but noticed after a while that Daniel was being unusually quiet, and he wasn’t often shy in social situations like this one.

“What’s up?” you mumbled to him, making sure no one was able to hear, but everyone else was talking, so you knew there wouldn’t be a problem.

“Nothing,” he shrugged, not really wanting to get into it because he knew it was stupid for him to be upset over something like this.

“I know you, Danny, it’s not nothing,” you sighed, not wanting him to be passive aggressive with you even though that’s the way things usually started out with him.

“We don’t have to talk about it here,” he replied softly, brushing it off.

“Okay, well we’re leaving soon anyway so we can talk about it then,” you told him before your name was called by someone who was bringing up a funny memory, so your focused returned back on the rest of the group, your hand resting on Daniel’s thigh.

The care ride home was basically silent except for the radio that played lowly in the background. Despite it being set to a low volume, the sound consumed the car, when usually that consuming sound would be the conversations between you and Daniel, or your voice singing at the top of your lungs.

You waited until the two of you walked inside to bring it up to him, knowing you couldn’t let this go anymore. Clearly something was bothering him enough to not even speak on the drive home, and you needed to know what it was.

“Daniel, seriously, just tell me what’s wrong,” you told him, trying to hide the hint of annoyance threatening to be heard in your voice.

“I don’t like him,” Daniel muttered as he disappeared into the kitchen to get water.

You followed, sighing to yourself as you asked who he was talking about even though you felt as though you already knew what his answer would be.

And you were right,

“Why don’t you like Dylan? He’s great,” you asked him, not understanding how their encounter went wrong in any way, and it wasn’t Daniel’s first time meeting him either.

“I don’t like how he is with you,” Daniel specified, looking down at his feet as he shifted his weight back and forth.

“What do you mean?” you asked.

“He flirts with you all the time, and not only do you let him, but you do it right back,” he told you, a sense of irritation shining through as he spoke.

Before you could say anything, he continued.

“It’s as if I’m not even there and I’m especially not your boyfriend. Everything he says is SO funny and it’s like ‘oh my god Dylan you’re hilarious let me ruffle your hair or sit on your lap’“ Daniel spat.

“Okay woah,” you stopped him, lifting your hands up to stop him from going further, “you’re being ridiculous right now you know he’s just my friend.”

“Really? Do friends really act like that, Y/n?” Daniel asked, his voice raising slightly, but he wasn’t screaming, he almost never yelled at you, which you were happy about.

“Yes they do, Daniel! I literally act the exact same way with Jonah, Corbyn, Jack and Zach!” you defended, starting to get annoyed at the way he was acting.

“Its different!” he retaliated.

“How, Daniel? Please fucking educate me,” you spat, crossing your arms over your chest as you looked at him, waiting for a proper explanation that was somewhat reasonable.

“Because I know you find him attractive and have been basically in love with him for years!” Daniel said back, throwing his hands up in frustration as he expressed his feelings.

“Oh my god Daniel so what if I had a little celebrity crush on him, would I freak out every single time you spoke to an attractive and sweet celebrity? It’s platonic Daniel you’re being stupid,” you said, trying to remain calm even though you felt your anger rising.

“Oh so I’m stupid?” he asked.

“Yeah, right now you are. You’re being stupid by thinking I’m flirting with Dylan when I’m literally just trying to be friends with someone who I like to hang out with. It’s not that deep, you’re looking so far into every little move and this new possessive shit isn’t a good look on you,” you replied, not wanting to look into his eyes.

“What’s going on?” you heard a familiar voice say from behind you, and you noticed Jonah when you turned around, his eyebrows furrowed as he heard the last part of your conversation.

“Nothing,” you sighed, “I’m going upstairs.”

“Be careful Jonah,” you added, putting your hand on his shoulder and looking back at Daniel, “I might suck your dick because I laugh when you say something funny,” you said sarcastically, scoffing as you walked off, leaving the boys in the kitchen.

“What was that?” Jonah asked, feeling even more confused now than when he first walked in.

“Nothing,” Daniel groaned, “I got mad at her because we went to Dylan’s house and I got jealous.”

“Dude,” Jonah sighed, trying to hide a small laugh from escaping him.

“Go talk to her,” Jonah urged, “don’t be mad over a dude she’s friends with. She’s dating you, man, not him. You aren’t like this with the rest of us when we’re with her, so don’t be that way about him either.”

Daniel took Jonah’s advice and thanked him before jogging upstairs, opening the door a crack to look for you, and saw you lying on your stomach on your bed, head resting on the pillow.

“Can we talk?” Daniel asked as he walked in, “less petty and angry this time.”

“Whatever,” you muttered into your pillow, moving over so Daniel could sit next to you, which he did.

“Look, I’m sorry baby, I know I was stupid,” Daniel started, knowing he needed to give up the fight if he wanted any chance of you forgiving him in the near future.

“I just got upset because he was your celebrity crush and we always made jokes that you would leave me for him if he asked you to. I guess it was more insecurity than jealousy. I don’t hate him, in fact I think he’s awesome, and that makes me worried you’ll stop loving me because you love him,” Daniel confessed, not liking revealing his true feelings to you, but he knew it had to be done.

“Daniel, those are just jokes, you know that,” you started, “you know I would never actually leave you for Dylan O’Brien, he’s amazing, yeah, and I’m really happy I get to build a friendship with him but I would never choose him over you.”

“Really?” Daniel asked. This time the question wasn’t aggressive and challenging, but soft and full of hope.

“Really,” you confirmed, “you’re the one I love, Daniel. Yeah he’s my friend and was my celebrity crush but he’s just a friend, you have nothing to worry about. But you can’t do this every time I see him because I do want to be friends with him and you need to support that.”

“I do, I do support that,” Daniel nodded, “I don’t know I guess watching you guys today got the better of me. You have the right to be friends with whoever you want, don’t listen to your idiot boyfriend.”

“We all doubt ourselves sometimes, Danny, it’s okay. I’m sorry for getting angry too instead of just listening. Let’s not fight about this okay, this isn’t us,” you comforted, reaching out to take his hand into yours.

“Fight over,” he agreed, pressing a kiss to your temple before moving down to your lips. The kiss was full of love and forgiveness, and you knew everything was okay.

“Dylan O’Brien is hot as fuck though you have to admit,” you joked, winking at Daniel before he pushed you, letting a laugh out.

“Honestly, Y/n, I would have to agree.

geez when was the last time i posted a full-fledged blog post myself on here

but anyways if no one is gonna get the word out then i am.

have you heard of the real 57th cartoon network original?

so basically, there's a cartoon network studio in europe appropriately named "cartoon network studios europe"

or if you wanna go the fancy route you can say "𝓰𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓽 𝓶𝓪𝓻𝓵𝓫𝓸𝓻𝓸𝓾𝓰𝓱 𝓹𝓻𝓸𝓭𝓾𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼" but according to the brits that apparently have 9 billion iq we are dumb and we have to have direct terms for things and watered down tomodachi life lyrics and our own measurement system, so we call it by its direct name, therefore the rest of the world has to call it by its direct name (disclaimer: thehanbaniverse knows this isn't why we call it CNSE) (well i mean GM is the street turner EMEA is on but) (why they gotta name the studio that) (if it aint on great marlborough street) (🤔🤔🤔)

it used to be called "cartoon network development studio europe" because it was gonna only produce pilots that could be turned into UK (or other parts of europe) originals. and yeah they produced pilots

that's when some dude named,,,i dunno,,,,benjam in...? bo koo leigh....?? came and made a pilot for some underground alternative show called....y'all probably haven't heard of it.....the ama zing world of a gum ball,,, ooo....

so CNSE picked it up and WOOO HOOO CN UK HAS THEIR OWN BABY (THAT THEY AIR LIKE 200 TIMES A WEEK YAY EUROPEAN TV LAWS)

(AND IT DID NOT AIR IN MAY 2008 YOU NUMBSKULLS THAT'S LIKE SAYING ADVENTURE TIME PREMIERED IN 2007 OR MAO MAO PREMIERED IN 2014 GOOGLE GNOMED YOU ONCE AGAIN)

fun fact: pinky malinky was originally gonna be The Second British Cartoon Network Show but nickelodeon intervened and grabbed the show right out of their hands and put that junt on netflix. i would've loved to make a parody weezer cover with gumball, ivandoe, pinky, and eliott but like,,,,pinky malinky,,,is now,,,the first british nicktoon,,,,oo,,maybe he can "join" weezer,,,original meme idea,,,,dont steal,,,

so CN UK caressed their baby for 8 years til they dropped it on the head and ran away from it before they could give it a good conclusion

and 2 years before that, CNSE put out a teaser for a new,,,,DANISH show?????

yeah that's right, SCANDINAVIA GANG WAS ABOUT TO TAKE OVER HOO-UGH

and this new show was called The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe (probably the longest name for a CN original ever, correct me if i'm wrong)

and by "show", i mean 10 3 Minute Shorts That Are Unlockable By Playing An Online Game That They Took Off Their Site And Is Pretty Much Unaccessible From Anywhere Not In EMEA Therefore A Lot Of People Don't Know This Show Exists And It Pisses Me Off™.

now before you whip out your keyboards and get ready to furiously type "GUMBALL RIPOFF",,,,please listen to what i said earlier,,,,same studio,,,,and the animators from the show made this,,,,this isn't bocquelet's baby but it's got the same animators

and like...this show was slept on the HARDEST of any other CN show and was INSANELY underappreciated. this beats sheep in the big city levels of overlooked. this is a whole new league.

like...y'all flat out forgot it existed. big time. like yeah y'all might've watched that one video vailskibum made about it but then y'all walked right off. this show has a smaller fandom than lyon mississippi and that is a whole other level of small. in fact, there's pretty much no fandom, yeah, literally no fandom. at all.

the only way i could watch it was through uploads on dailymotion (and very recently this dude on youtube has every episode uploaded atm but i can't see that lasting before 2020). no legal way i could watch the show because it also didn't come to the USA and i am so pissed about that :(

the most further west the show went was brazil and latin america in july 2018 but no new countries since...did they think americans couldn't handle how authentically scandinavian it was??? did they think we were too stupid to differentiate it from gumball??? i swear we've been screwed over time and time and time and time again by companies becuase they thought we were too stupid for more mind challenging and different stuff.

i mean look at the ico box art for US vs. EU and japan. yikes.

i'm also crazy for these backgrounds.

the thing that both CNSE shows have most in common is the mixed media animation style. however, while TAWOG just took pictures and used those as references for 3d rendered backgrounds, ivandoe literally had WHOLE SETS built specifically for certain episodes, with real tree bark used for trees and just- AAGH ITS SO BEAUTIFUL. i could understand why it's not a full series because the backgrounds themselves had so much work put into them. if they picked it up for a full series then they might've had to take the TAWOG route and make the backgrounds 3D.

after the first 10 episodes came out and europe had a huge ivandoe party in the beginning of 2018, it's as if the show just fizzled out of existence. no news, no nothing. to my knowledge, the only thing CNSE is working on at the moment is eliott from earth. but i would love to see some new ivandoe related-content, that could possibly come to the US and expand the fandom a little. even though i love TAWOG much more, i really feel like i'm the only one still thinking about this show and wishing more people talked about it. i've heard that the show just now in 2019 came to the philippines, so it still has potential to come over here (lmao just watch us be like the last country in the world for ivandoe to get to). this show had so much potential...

i'm also gonna post this on other outlets so people can see it. i don't want this show to forever be overlooked like this.
