“Hades”, digital, (#4 in my Olympians series)
OK, no 4, mr underworld..HADES! super fun piece to do. I didnt want him to feel evil, but the underworld is described as murky and deep, so it wasn’t going to be full of sunshine and rainbows. I love the idea of a silver and gold mine, as he is the god of wealth and precious minerals/metals. (hence the jewels in the bottom foreground)
Its apt that this piece is done now, as Persephone, his wife, has joined him (forcing Demeter to bring forth winter). Hades holds his bird tipped scepter, and his helmet (or cap) of invisibility (the same one he gave to Perseus as one of his magical items to go and slapy Medusa) .
Sitting Beside the throne is the three headed guard hound; CERBERUS, and in the deep, cavernous background we can the furies, those older, primordial creatures sent forth to punish bloodshed and murder with a family. (and who i cant wait to design and illustrate when i get back to the Oresteia’s second play “Euminides” (i.e. “furies”)
Next will be DEMETER, and I’m super excited about her piece, because i will bring in the Eleusinian mysteries/cult of Demeter into the portrayal somehow. Stay tuned folks! Thanks for looking! xoxo.

Elizabeth "Bets" Wilcox - born in 1913
David Kirk - born around 1893
Jane Stuart - born in May 1918 or 1919
Valancy Stirling* - born 1883**
Barney Snaith - born 1877**
Cecilia "Cissy" - born 1886**
Olive Stirling - born 1884**
Gay Penhallow - born in 1904***
Nan Penhallow - born in 1904***
Roger Dark - born in 1890***
Donna Dark - born between 1894 and 1896***
Virginia Powell - born between 1894 and 1896***
Peter Penhallow - born between 1888 and 1890***
Margaret Penhallow - born 1872***
Brian Dark - born 1916***
Hugh Dark - born in 1887***
Joscelyn Penhallow: born between 1889-1892***
*In both Anne of Ingleside and Rainbow Valley Shirley is two years older than Rilla. But in Rilla of Ingleside, he turns eighteen few months before Rilla... it is pure chaos. Rilla was supposed to be nearly fourteen, according to the RV, in 1914, but she is nearly fifteen in RoI. So I apologize, but I had a lot of trouble here...
**The Blue Castle is the most difficult to place in time. It is set several years before it was published, and in my own opinion: before Tangled Web and Pat of Silver Bush. Why? Because of this reference: "This was before the day of bobs and was regarded as a wild, unheard-of proceeding—unless you had typhoid." (The Blue Castle). Bobs were already "in fashion" at the beginning of Pat of Silver Bush (so, in 1919, when Pat was six years old: it was said that Winnie wanted to have her hair bobbed) and in Tangled Web (which is set in 1922). Yet, the cars, motorboats and movie theaters were a rather common occurence in The Blue Castle's times. But... there might be an explanation. Valancy doesn't live on PEI, which might have been a little "behind" the rest of Canada, as far as modern technology went. It is my own personal opinion, but I think that it might be set just before the war, at the same time as the end Emily's Quest. I know that the clothes seem more "modern" in TBC, but Emily wore "a little sport suit" and dress that was described as followed "there was so little of it". Teddy and Perry both had cars, as sone of Ilse's cousins. I would say that the Blue Castle book might be set around 1912-1913. Still, the timeline is extremely elusive. Please, let me know, dear Blue Castle Book Club's members, what is your opinion? I think I have read some amazing discussion about TBC's timeline a long time ago, but if I remember correctly, everyone was certain that this novel was set post WWI (me included, until this very moment when I tried to place Pat and Tangled Web and remembered the "bob" quote). So I choose 1912 as the beginning of TBC, when Valancy was twenty-nine.
*** the ages of characters in Tangled Web:
"They were first cousins, who were born the same day and married the same day,--Donna to her own second cousin, Barry Dark, and Virginia to Edmond Powell--two weeks before they had left for Valcartier. Edmond Powell had died of pneumonia in the training camp, but Barry Dark had his crowded hour of glorious life somewhere in France." (Tangled Web).
"Virginia Powell, whose husband had been dead eight years and who was young and tolerably beautiful" (Tangled Web).
"Valcartier, Quebec was the primary training base for the First Canadian Contingent in 1914."
- from: https://www.warmuseum.ca/firstworldwar/history/going-to-war/canada-enters-the-war/training-at-valcartier/
So, from this I assumed that Virginia's husband died in 1914 (so Tangled Web is set in 1922-23). Gay is 18 at the beginning, so she would be born in 1904. If Donna and Virginia were 18-20 when they got married, they would be 26-28 (so still "young"). at the beginning. Peter was 14 when Donna was 8, so he'd be 32-34 at the beginning of the book (same age or a bit older than Roger). Hugh was 35 at the beginning. I guess Joscelyn was a bit younger- most of LMM's heroines are at least two years younger than their love interest. I'd say she might have been 20-23 when she got married, so she'd be around 30-33 at the beginning of the book. I would say Brian is about six years old - he doesn't seem to attend school yet, but is big enough to be sent to the harbour. Margaret Penhallow was about fifty at the beginning of the book.
So sorry that this post was rather long, but it was a great fun to write (even if it took me A LOT of time). Thank you for reading. Please, let me know if you agree. Any feedback will be very welcome!

The second favourite.
In shadows cast by moonlight's soft embrace, I dwell, a soul yearning for a cherished place. Forever the second, a perennial refrain, A princess dream elusive, haunting like the rain.
Perfect girls around, their glimmering grace, A mirror reflecting what I long to embrace. Resentment blooms, a bitter, thorny vine, In my crafted world, where illusions entwine.
Butterflies flutter, rainbows weave a guise, A realm of deception where reality denies. Seeking a savior in the form of a fright, Yet, the monster and prince, in shadows unite.
Yearning for a hero, a mythic bliss, A prince unseen, a phantom's gentle kiss. In this quest for love, a tale undefined, The prince elusive, a figment of the mind.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
"All we need is a cause to fight for. And for me, that cause is you."
As I’ve been reading a lot about the Crusades recently, it seemed a natural progression to try playing Assassin’s Creed for the first time since the franchise began a decade and a half ago.
It was quite the effort for me to force myself to take a break before starting Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood after finishing AC2. I wanted to know what happens next so very badly - and my first thought on starting ACB was: this doesn't disappoint.
While the mechanics remain largely the same, the graphics have once again gotten an upgrade - all of sequence 1 had me going holy shit, this is cinematic as well as wow, they're really pulling out all the hero stops. And if that somehow fails to impress, the first present day sequence had me thinking these characters have personalities for the first time since the series began. Desmond was a blank, passive slate in AC1 and only just starting to show signs of being otherwise in AC2, but here Desmond is - finally - an independent actor with just the right level of snark to make me go yeah, I actually like this guy. Lucy too seems something like other than an obvious Templar plant - a like she's actually struggling with her inevitable betrayal - and Rebecca and Shawn are more than just snark.
There's much I love about ACB: the main plot is interesting but oddly short. There are about a thousand side quests, so it's not exactly a short game, but I can't help but think incorporating at least some of them into the main storyline would have made a bit more sense. The Borgia Towers offer an interesting set of challenges, and recruiting the brotherhood is a concept I'd like to have seen more of in more detail (training missions with the Mentor? Ezio spreading his influence more slowly across Europe instead of suddenly being able to send his trainees across the world? the recruits themselves having personalities and backgrounds and motivations?) Even renovating Rome doesn't start to feel gimmicky until you're buying the Coliseum.
And yet I don't love it quite as much as AC2 - and I think it largely comes down to the fact that all of Ezio's personal grown happened in the former, with little room left in ACB for any positive, meaningful growth. We don't see Ezio struggle with the fact that his choice to leave Rodrigo alive in the Vatican lead to the destruction of his home for a second time. We don't see him struggle to be a leader to his burgeoning brotherhood, he already is one. We have peak narrative symmetry starting with a siege and ending with a siege, and yet only the first stirs the emotions - Cesare has lasted this long because he's always conveniently in the wrong place, not because he's a satisfying or interesting boss.
In short, I love older Ezio (who somehow manages to be at peak attractiveness throughout the game, going so far as to complain when someone says he should slow down because he's older; that will never not be hilarious). I just wish he had a bit more meat to work with in ACB.
It's not all unicorns and rainbows though. The number of times I accidentally called a horse instead of flicking on eagle vision or speaking to a merchant is in the thousands. The number of debilitating gut wounds Ezio has recovered from is starting to verge on comically unrealistic. The number of plot points that are touched on - why was La Volpe so willing to assume Machiavelli was the traitor with comparatively scant evidence? How does one build a brotherhood of assassins? How did Claudia learn to wield a knife in the first place? - but quickly glossed over is frustrating. I could have done with a smaller Rome and more fleshed out plot. And the bits where you have to use the apple at the end simply failed to satisfy.
Yet I love it. Not in the way I think I'll always love AC2, but it's a solid game. Short, but solid. I enjoyed playing it and would loved to have seen more, but I'm not disappointed with what we got.
(Though I was shocked by Lucy's death. Yes, she was an obvious Templar plant, but I'd like to have seen her explain herself before we reached Redemption Equals Death. I'm eager to see the fallout in ACR... but not eager enough to continue forgoing errands and chores that I've been putting off for AC2 and ACB before beginning.)
4.5 of 5 stars - definite replay value, but not the head-exploding awesome of AC2.

Before we get on with the show, i will first of all have something to explain:
NOTE: While watching "January and co.'s hero-brave sad-to-fab quest thru their hero-brave journey from sad to fab", it are mostly watching "Driving Ib and Ib, "The Triss team's sitcom show", "Parody adventures with Luffe and Sjanne", "The Angora guys by night", and "Livestream commentary with Fritz and Poul (ft. Split)".
Well, there you go. I had now already explained this note, but however, we're not ready yet, cause i have 2 more notes that i shall explain:
ADDITIONAL NOTE #1: January and co.'s "hero-brave sad-to-fab quest thru their hero-brave journey from sad to fab" are sometimes borrowing some style of classic episodes of the Case Closed anime from "Case Closed - There's Only One Truth" to "Detective Conan and the Rainbow"
ADDITIONAL NOTE #2: January and co.'s "hero-brave sad-to-fab quest thru their hero-brave journey from sad to fab" may also sometimes borrow some style of Kika and Bob
Now, there we go again. I had already explained these two notes, but we're still not ready yet, cause i need to explain 18 extra notes, so i gotta explain it at that case:
EXTRA NOTE #1: Mr. Müller are an mailman who are responsible for recording the regular audio commentary for January and co.'s sad-to-fab quest.
EXTRA NOTE #2: Mr. Schüster are responsible for recording the audio commentary at his secret underground living room, cause he's obviously recording the audio commentary for January and co.'s sad-to-fab quest which involves January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab, and are made up of three chapters: The first chapter depicts January and co.'s pre-historic quest (following the creation of the Earth), the second chapter depicts the revenge of Lord Aytien (which ends with a cliffhanger, but after the cliffhanger continues with a surprise continue in which January and co. releases free from prison, thru plotting a hero-brave scheme to defeat Lord Aytien (thru destroying the Aytien universe), and save the world, by rescuing Princess Sara and Ola (along with his best friend Joppe), just in time), and then, the third chapter depicts January and co.'s camping school journey at the southsea island (in which January and co.'s makes their hero-brave efforts of defeating Lord Aytien (thru destroying the Aytien universe), by saving the world, and rescuing Princess Sara and Ola (along with his best friend Joppe) just in time).
EXTRA NOTE #3: Mrs. Prysselius are responsible for managing Mr. Schüster's secret underground living room.
EXTRA NOTE #4: The Swedbank crew are responsible of recording the visual audio commentary.
EXTRA NOTE #5: The Deutsche Bank crew are responsible of supervising Mr. Schüster's secret underground living room.
EXTRA NOTE #6: Ib and Ib are handling the task of recording/filming their primary livestream commentary, though taking a driving trip with their car.
EXTRA NOTE #7: The Triss team are handling the task of recording/filming their secondary livestream commentary, though broadcasting their own sitcom.
EXTRA NOTE #8: Luffe and Sjanne are handling the task of recording/filming their tercerary livestream commentary, though doing some funny parodies, by checking out some serious stuff: for example reading funny signs, and even many more of some kind of serious.
EXTRA NOTE #9: The Angora guys are handling the task of recording/filming their quaternary livestream commentary, though being home at their flat, by discovering something awesome.
EXTRA NOTE #10: Fritz and Poul (from the Cavalry) (alongside Split) are handling the task of recording/filming their quinary livestream commentary, by reacting to "January and co.'s hero-brave sad-to-fab quest thru their hero-brave journey from sad to fab".
EXTRA NOTE #11: Kling and Klang are responsible for reacting their livestream commentary, cause they are two wacky cops who are Mr. Schüster's crazy allies, and they're handling the task of reacting their livestream commentary, and additionally, they're obviously teaming up with two wacky ladies, Mrs. Kling and Mrs. Klang, who are typically demonstrating something typical.
EXTRA NOTE #12: Else-Marie are responsible for paying attention at Mr. Schüster's secret underground living room. She eventually gets help of her mother and her dad named Beck.
EXTRA NOTE #13: Mr. Schüster's seven friendly allies (although they're ironically remaining unnamed) are responsible of resolving the issue.
EXTRA NOTE #14: Mr. Krüse and Mr. Meyer are responsible of require something very important.
EXTRA NOTE #15: Gary Gadget are responsible of repairing something that are getting broken.
EXTRA NOTE #16: Freddy Ferrick are responsible of resolving some problems thru performing extensive troubleshooting.
EXTRA NOTE #17: Svante Stockselius, Jon Ola Sand and Martin Österdahl are responsible of supervising the video audio commentary.

All right. Here you have these 18 extra notes. We're now ready to get this show on the road, so without further ado, let's get into business.
Tumblr media
At first, we're going to meet Ib and Ib. Ib and Ib are two comedians who are driving the car, by doing some funny jokes and funny pranks. They're responsible of reacting to the audio/video commentary for "January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab", so they're getting started today.
We're then meeting the Triss team. The Triss team are a gang of some funny comedians, and they're living home at their flat, cause they're broadcasting their own comedy sitcom, by doing some funny gags, as well as some funny jokes and funny pranks. They're also responsible of reacting to thr audio/video commentary for "January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab", cause they will right now get this show on the road.
Next up, we're going to meet Luffe and Sjanne. Luffe and Sjanne are two crazy, wacky pranksters that are doing some crazy, wacky stuff, as well as some crazy jokes and crazy pranks. They're getting a cool time at their flat, and they're sometimes going on a trip of doing some funny, crazy stuff, though exploring some serious things, but anyway, they're responsible of reviewing about "January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab", and besides, they will now get started today.
At next, we're going to meet the Angora guys. The Angora guys are a gang of some wacky comedians who are home at their flat, cause they're checking out some funny things and stuff, cause they're always responsible of broadcasting their own comedy show. Well, by the way, they're eitherway responsible of discussing about "January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab", cause they're right now turning on the camera, cause the Angora guys are on the stage.
Coming up next, we're gonna meet Fritz, Poul and their sockpuppet Split. Fritz and Poul are two multi-millionaires who are plotting some cheeky cool stuff that they can exactly do anything at anytime that they want to. They're teaming up with a sockpuppet named Split, who are almost resembling a hedgehog, and he does a similar vein to Dolph and Margit. Well anyway, Fritz, Poul and Split are responsible of producing, recording the audio/video commentary for "January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab", but anyway, that's enough with the set, so let's get it started.
However, before we're going to meet Mr. Müller, we're first of all making way for Ib and Ib, the Triss team, Luffe and Sjanne, the Angora guys, and Fritz and Poul (ft. Split), cause they're gonna handle the task of carrying their attitude.

We'll there you go. We had now got it together with Ib and Ib, The Triss team, Luffe and Sjanne, the Angora guys, and Fritz and Poul (ft. Split), so we will right now get into the regular feature. Well then, without further ado, let's give a warm welcome to Mr. Müller
Tumblr media
So now we're going to encounter Mr. Müller. Mr. Müller are an mailman who works at Österreichische Post AG, and are always responsible of delivering posts, mails, packs, presents and much more for everyone. Well by the way, Mr. Müller are apparently deciding to do something different, cause he's going to tell the story about January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab, well while telling that story, he will at the same time record the audio/video commentary for "January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab". So, Yup, that's a good idea, cause Mr. Müller are going to record his own audio/video commentary (with audio and video (at on-screen)). Well anyway, without further ado, we gotta get started, cause Mr. Müller are ready to get started of telling the story about January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab, and due to that, he had obviously turned on his video recorder, cause he's ready to record his audio commentary, so we gotta get started immediately. Okay, it sounds like a good idea. Well indeed, Mr. Müller are ready to record his audio commentary, so for now, without further ado, Mr. Müller are ready to begin his audio/video commentary for January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab, cause January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab are about to begin right now. Well of course, it is time to get the adventures started, so by that, it is time to let Mr. Müller's audio/video commentary for January and co.'s hero-brave journey from sad to fab begin.
Tumblr media
At the very beginning, we're first going to meet Mr. Schüster who are going to get started at his secret underground living room. Well by the way, he are eventually joining up with Mrs. Prysselius who will always be able to manage Mr. Schüster's secret underground living room. But anyway, without further ado, let's get started.
1.1.1.Startup screen
Despite the beginning of the creation of the universe, we're first starting off with a black background, as we hear the sound of wind-blowing sound effects, and on this black background, we then see part of a dark background, which are slowly fading in and it brightens to reveal that it is made up of dark cumulonimbus borders with gaps on the bottom and top. Some border formations are being shown thru being shrouded in darkness, with a pitch black background partially illuminated by the bottom half of the screen. Then at that moment, a greyscaled backdrop gradually fades in and a light appears from behind it in the center of the screen which fades in gradually from a white light appearing between its flash, causing a spectrum of greyscale to appear around the light. The greyscale fades out, and as it lights up the rest of its light, it then flashes, which fully lights up its brightness, and it reveals to be a white flash of light which then starts to glow and it reveals a splashed light which begins to shine through the lower-middle-left screen, and it zooms into view from the lower-middle-left, and when it gets closer to the camera, it later dies down as it heads to the center of the screen and it shines up from the center as its shines begins to glow bright with its brighter shines coming from the left, right, top, and bottom of the screen, though sparkling each other, and the borders and background brighten, as the light suddenly grows a sparkle of birghtness (although you can easily notice that the sparkle appear at the light out of thin air) and it suddenly glows brighters as it gets bright, as we zoom into the light which suddenly zooms into the camera and ahead upon us, the screen flashes very bright, so that it reveals that the light are actually a cut-out of a black silk wave with a blacked-out rim around the holes, transitiong to the light that are suddenly filling the background, despite that it turns into a full morning sky. The borders here are pure white and more ethereal in design, compared to the more realistic greyscaled borders, but just as the borders light up, a group of golden sparkles appears, moving over a platinum background with a bright light which flashes as we transition to another more golden sparkles that moves over while a red sun is shown. As it moves closer to the sparkles, the sun flashes as we transition to the Telefunken logo's diamond shapes, seguing into the startup screen. We're therefore seeing a ray of light, resembling a sunburst, with a different shining background fading in a brief second later. The light is coming from some electric lights which receives some enchancements to better resemble some dynamic electric lights. This involves the addition of blurry parting lights with a very bright light between them. The light gets brighter until the lights are apart and then it fades to the traditional electric light effect, albeit the parting lights at the start are slightly modified with a sharper look to compliment those electric lights, as the borders that were normally in the transition are suddenly turning into those golden sparkles and a red sun is seen. Just as the red sun lights up, we're zooming into the electric light animation in which we see some electric lights coming up on the screen (à la the New Xbox Experience's intro cutscene). We're then seeing a colorful orb flashing in, which quickly zooms toward us as we see several lines move into it, and as the orb zooms through the camera, we see a tunnel made of smoke and spirals, as they disappear as more lines appear and we therefore zoom out of some electric lights as well as some glowing colourful tunnel containing many colourful rings, and the light becomes more intensive and the tunnel later collapses on a black background into a diamond shape with helixes, hence hearing some scribbling sounds followed by a reversed cymbal crash. Then with that, we're therefore encountering Mr. Schüster, for the first time ever.
So there we are here, and now by that, we're about to meet Mr. Schüster (for the first time ever). By the way, we will at the same time Mrs. Prysselius, cause she's responsible of managing Mr. Schüster's secret underground living room
2.2.2.Introducing Mr. Schüster
We're eventually encountering Mr. Schüster, for the first time ever. Mr. Schüster makes his first appearance and introduces himself, as he hosts the startup program, by narrating the presentation for the "adventures of January and his friends". Mr. Schüster tells about a boy who wants to be a famous hero: January. Though his story will be a hero-brave one, it will be 1000% awesome, because this story will be so much amazing when the boy enters the adventure business. Then afterwards, Mr. Schüster are eventually introducing his voice recorder, and he obtains an armchair and also a computer desk with a PC. Well then with that, Mr. Schüster are therefore recording his audio commentary and are at the same time turning on the PC by starting the program for the first time ever. With the program commencing for the first time ever, Mr. Schüster turns on the light and introduces his secret underground living room. He therefore resurrects the startup program, and hosts it at the same time, and he therefore tells about the legend of the "adventures of January and his friends". At that case, Mr. Schüster meets an housekeeper named Mrs. Prysselius who introduces herself, by demonstrating about the "adventures of January and his friends". She then helps Mr. Schüster with managing the startup program at the secret underground living room, and they're at the same time engaging their allies, and then, however, they're unexpectly making way for the Dolph gang, an greedy dumb-guy crew which consists of four greedy tramps that are seriously getting not-so-lucky: Thunder-Carlsson, Blom, Fille and Rulle (along with their henchmen Dolph and Margit). These tramps had regardlessly entered that secret underground living room, cause they had come to see if they can find anything to steal, but they've had never heard about January, and they're obviously seeing some kind of light in the room and they're deciding to take a closer look at the room. Well luckily, Mr. Schüster (along with those tramps) meets two clever cops named Kling and Klang. They're seriously noticing something very exciting that will reveal to be the "adventures of January and his friends". Well, by the way, Kling and Klang are at the same time meeting two not-so-lucky ladies named Mrs. Kling and Mrs. Klang. They're seriously demonstrates that it can't wait to experience the "adventures of January and his friends". Anyway, let's get back to Mr. Schüster, cause he's now getting his own video call with Else-Marie. Mr. Schüster helps Else-Marie with creating a hero passport for January, and then afterwards, he therefore boots up a fresh start for the "adventures of January and his friends".
3.3.3.Meet Mr. Schüster
4.4.4.Mr. Schüster introduces his secret underground living room
5.5.5.Mr. Schüster meets his allies
6.6.6.Mr. Schüster continues his introduction
So today, we're getting started, and Mr. Schüster are at his secret underground living room, cause he records his own audio commentary (with audio and video (at on-screen)).
7.7.7.Mr. Schüster resumes his introduction
8.8.8.Mr. Schüster at his secret underground living room
9.9.9.Mr. Schüster gets company
10.10.10.Mr. Schüster gets it started at his secret underground living room
11.11.11.Mr. Schüster encounters the Dolph gang
12.12.12.Mr. Schüster requires some offer
13.13.13.Mr. Schüster boots on his voice recorder, and demonstrates the introduction to his audio commentary
So now, without further ado, it is time to get started of telling the story about the "adventures of January and his friends", well due to that, Mr. Schüster had turned on his voice recorder, cause he's ready to record his audio commentary, so we gotta get started right now.
14.14.14.Mr. Schüster starts his voice recorder, and records his audio commentary
Mr. Schüster are now ready to record his audio commentary, so for now, without further ado, Mr. Schüster's audio commentary for the "adventures of January and his friends" are about to begin, and due to that, it is time to get the adventure started, so by that, the "adventures of January and his friends" are about to begin.
15.15.15.Mr. Schüster records his audio commentary
The "adventures of January and his friends" are first of all starting off with an early morning at the farm, in which the farming crew are deciding to learn something important, and because of that, it will therefore be followed by the birth of January (alongside his friends).
16.16.16.Mr. Schüster learns to record his audio commentary = Morning at the farm
It begins with a small farming village where an elderly farming couple are managing an farming village and an farming base in Liechtenstein, as they come under threat by a nearby property development. The farming village's development manager, under pressure from his corporate bosses to evict the tenants and start construction, sends a farming hoodlum and his gang of thugs to bribe the farming couple and their tenants to move out, but when the tenants resist, the farming hoodlum and his thugs punch through the farming artist's door, intimidate an pregnant single mother, and break an farming ally's jar of tiles, so after the farming couple refuses to move, the farming hoodlum vandalizes the farming base, breaking a sentimental photo frame in the process. For some reason, this assault convinces three of the tenants to move out, the farming artist's best friend is tired of living in an old, depressing farming village with a guy whose art career is going nowhere, but she dumps the farming artist, by packing up and before leaving, advises the farming artist to quit being an artist and get a steady job. Eventually, the farming couple's friends takes the farming development manager's bribe and decide to move to the farming village, but the farming grandpa feels a little betrayed by the farming town for taking the farming development manager's money but they explain that the farming town and the area it's in just doesn't feel like home anymore, so they advise the farming grandpa that maybe he and the farming grandma should do the same and come live with them at the farming town, and with the assault and the farming grandma's dementia growing, the farming grandpa contemplates giving in.
And we'll continue on...
17.17.17.Mr. Schüster learns to record his audio commentary = The birth of January
18.18.18.Mr. Schüster learns to record his audio commentary = January is born
We're continuing where we had left off.
Later, the next following day, although something looks bleak, a tiny pure, liquid, magic sphere appears and falls from the sky, by producing an immortal magic crystalline filled with incredibly strong magic properties that are also capable of healing illness, decay and injury, but however, upon discovering it, an farming stepmother discovers the crystalline and although hiding it, she uses it to retain her youth and beauty, by hoarding its healing ability through a song to keep her young for many years. Many years later, the pregnant farming grandma falls deathly sick, leading the farming grandpa to seek out the legendary mystical crystalline, and despite the farming stepmother's effort to hide it, although she's angered, the crystalline is found, uprooted and taken by farmers from the nearby farming municipality and it is boiled into medicine which will be used to save their pregnant and ailing farming grandma. Shortly thereafter, it heals/recovers her and she are at the same time giving birth to a young boy named January, who has an unageable body that possesses magical properties. Well indeed, as a side effect the newborn boy inherits the crystalline's astonishing magic abilities – which manifest through his unageable body which had absorbed the abilities of the crystalline, but however, while attempting to recover the crystalline, the farming stepmother, who wants to reclaim her immortality and youth, sneaks into the farming village and discovers that January's body has inherited the crystalline's magic, but however, the farming stepmother captures January by raising him as her own in an isolated farming cottage at the outskirts of the farm, hence saving the powers of the crystalline for himself. In order to keep the confined and isolated January content in the cottage, the farming stepmother lies about the outside world being dangerous and filled with bad people who will hurt him and take advantage of his magical capabilities. She often teaches him to fear the outside world and its people, as it is for January's own safety, and then afterwards, she therefore leaves the cottage to find the gifts for January, thus leaving the boy alone most of the time, well besides, January will constantly hope that he will soon guide his way back home to Berlin (which is the capital city of Germany). Knowing that the starlights are meant for him, he repeatedly asks the farming stepmother to let him venture into the outside world, but she refuses, as she claims that the outside world is a dangerous place, and however, January then asks for a special paint that will take the farming stepmother three days' round trip to obtain and return, and the farming stepmother accepts. In that case, January will constantly wish that he will hopefully find his way back home to Berlin, and due to that, January will casually accept it, so he gets it now.

Reaction to "Rainbow Void is Hunting Me Down” and “Shadow Sabre confronted me” - Rainbow Quest Eps. 134 and 135
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83TUcwuV9Y
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umdUrUh9ipk
Rainbow Void is Hunting Me Down
This was kinda a mood whiplash, going from the previous episode with Sabre screaming and this episode, with a solemn and slow mournful tone.
The conversation between Sabre and Time brings up the topic of “individual vs societal pressure.” While society definitely is more powerful in influencing people, Void is both an individual and an outsider of society. Both Steve society and Void did a lot of bad things to Rainbow’s mental health. So who is really stronger? Society or an outcast? And if Sabre is also an outsider, then him blaming himself for Rainbow’s demise adds another way to explore this theme.
Rainbow Void is struggling with the crystals. That makes him not a complete threat, I guess. That buys the heroes time.
The crystals’ powers changing over the generation is an interesting concept. I like it when the magic systems and powers aren’t rigid in a fantasy world’s worldbuilding, aka soft magic systems.
“Like I said, you’re all just pawns in my game, and it’s time for another pawn to fall, and for another piece to move forward.” So it seems like Funny is going to be the last straw in the camel’s back for Sabre 8)
Shadow Sabre confronted me
Oooooooh ho ho hooooooo, this deep edited voice is so smooth compared to Illusion and Hypno’s voices :0
And the edited intro? The intro is so good! It really sets a turning point for this series.
This is getting cinematic, holy moly. It’s been years since I last watched a Minecraft roleplay with cinematic scenes. I know that Twisted Rainbow also has machima scenes, so I know this video style isn’t going anywhere. I am excited!
First time seeing the intro, I got chills seeing “Rainbow Quest” go from rainbow to grayscale. But the second time seeing it, I just whispered “corporations after Pride Month”
*
Sabre: *losing it*
Time: 😶
This storyline would go a different direction if Time just froze Sabre in time at that moment.
*
I’m guessing Sabre is completely controlled now, and the scene where he sees color is his small moment of consciousness while being a corrupted pawn. That is a really interesting way to do a time skip.
*
Dang, Shadow Sabre is sounding like a therapist. I had different assumptions about this character, so I was surprised that Shadow is forcing Sabre to relive Rainbow Steve’s destruction to help him accept and move on from the past. Of course, he’s being an ass about it because he’s forcing Sabre to relive his trauma, and he’s doing that to make Sabre accept his evilness.
Is Sabre the only character who was corrupted by himself, while the other Steves were infected?
Shadow, don’t give Corruption and Soul all the credit. It was Void who absolutely destroyed all of Sabre’s mental health. All Corruption and Soul did was help out.
Shadow’s got a point: Sabre did follow the prophecy blindly and forced it upon others, which is pretty horrible if you think about it. Keeping morale up has been Sabre’s biggest worry, and I really want to see how RQ explores the themes of hope and morale, especially since it’s really highlighting that “hope from fake prophecies and stories will do more harm than good.” This kinda reminds me of my analysis post on the Hero narrative where I concluded the Steves will benefit if they stop depending on the Hero and instead be their own heroes. The “hope in a prophecy” theme supports my analysis. If you tie my analysis and the hope theme together, a potentially strong message for RQ to give is “don’t find hope in false stories, find hope within yourself.”
Did Sabre follow the prophecy to help the Steves or to help himself? The answer is: I don’t know. Because to my knowledge, Sabre doesn’t have a backstory in RQ, which means we never knew what his motivations and core values were before he found out about the Steves. Maybe I just have a bad memory after taking a 1 year break from Rainbow Quest.
“As long as you believe they were mistakes in the first place, you will live with regrets.” - Shadow Sabre being an evil therapist again
*
The “One” theme is getting so big that I almost didn’t expect it.
It’s satisfying to hear Sabre say, “you shouldn’t force people to become one in the same.” Originally, Sabre wanted Rainbow to be just like the other heroes or another person’s idea of a hero. Rainbow’s death was an eyeopener, not just a breaking point. Sabre realized he was wrong with how he treated Rainbow, and that’s why he’s so resistant against the Darkness wanting to make everyone “one.” It’s very twisted that his best friend had to die for him to learn this lesson, but it’s tragically ironic that Void destroying Rainbow actually gave Sabre the final push and immunity against Darkness’ philosophy.
The “one” theme will probably establish the Darkness and Rainbow Kingdom as thematic foils. Darkness is forcing people to unite as one, while Rainbow Kingdom is a group of Steves willing to unite as one for a common goal (though they’re uniting to survive against the Darkness, so ironically the Darkness is still forcing them to unite)
I wonder how the story is going to further dissect the “one” theme when Sol starts to become a problem in the Rainbow Kingdom.
*
Shadow Sabre: the darkness of a warming blanket of love
Me: PFFFFFFFTTT
Me: I’m sorry, I just - LMAO, that was just so unexpected, and with that delivery, I just lost it.
*
Alright, I’m going to end my reaction post here.
Shadow and Sabre have a discussion about love. And well, I have Thoughts about their discussion. A lot more Thoughts than I had when I reacted to Violet Steves’ debut.
For context, I am aromantic. I regularly listen to, read, and contribute to discussions about love and society’s evaluation of love, inside and outside of the aromantic community. Because of my aromantic perspective, I believe my Thoughts on Shadow and Sabre’s discussion of love may warrant their own post, so I’ll save my final thoughts about this episode for that future post!
It’ll be a while until I make that post though. I need to figure out how to word my Thoughts. And I know my Thoughts may change after I see the entirety of Shadow Sabre’s arc and the future role of the Violet Steves. So I’ll have to watch more Rainbow Quest and document more of my thoughts before I make that post.
To the people who watched the entirety of Rainbow Quest: are there more episodes where Shadow Sabre, Sabre, and the Violet Steves discuss love? Please let me know. It’ll really help me out with my new analysis project!
Final reaction thoughts to end the post:
Well, Darkness, if you wanted oblivion so badly, there’s a guy called Unnamed you can speak too. I think he wants the end of all life as much as you do.
Wow, so Void is a pawn of everything too, which is crazy because he seemed like the main guy in control for a very long time.
Honestly, I’m glad that this episode isn’t just an overdose of angst and pessimism. It was interesting and thoughtful, and Sabre talking about regret being normal and kindness being the way to go is a breath of fresh air, making this episode have a lot of great moments.

Rusticity, reflection, regret, remembrance, rain …
… rebirth.
David Edward Booth’s latest release All My Days probably wouldn’t be called ‘a soundtrack for summer’ by many listeners but Plunger aren’t so sure…
Many of the songs on the album (and indeed the process of recording of it) were rooted in or coloured by personal loss and tragedy, so it’s perhaps perverse to focus on the music alone (... but then, that’s what we do!) It has to be said too that the darker inspirations and themes are pretty cryptically delivered so the listener isn’t overwhelmed by Leonard Cohenish “Woe is me” brooding.
Despite its largely folky vibe this is the second album in a row Plunger have reviewed that has a touch of the Crosby & Nash about it, in this case particularly Graham’s wistful English bucolicism (helped in no small part by David’s downbeat Northwestern-accented delivery!) and there are touches of Crosbyesque Californian complexity and mysticism as well as lush West Coast harmonies. Opener Another Me exemplifies that, a threnody so English you can see the ‘not-quite-picture-postcard gorse-covered fells and bracing climate, while the major-tinged chorus oozes Laurel Canyon polish: 1970s electric piano and 1870s brass complete the juxtaposition.
The mix of Mancunian melodicism and Californian colours continues in Run - strummed acoustic, noodling Tele and a walking-horse pace conjures a slow ride over Suffolk badlands - while the pared-back resources (palm-muted electric guitar and slick, bittersweet harmony vocals) of Just Following Tracks lend a Nash-demo-waiting-for-the-full-band-break-in vibe, heightened by the rising urgency, plaintive middle-eight, and hanging close.
Just Following Tracks’s doleful finality (“I’m not coming back”) is countered, at least in part, by the album’s two previously released singles, Blackbird and Rainbows Of October: the forrmer’s anthemic acoustic chords and vulnerable-but-purposeful vox carry a message of, if not exactly optimism, then at least cheerful perseverance (“… a song gives me wings to carry on…”) with a cello, piano and muted brass section crescendo; while the sparse haunting waltz of the latter has moments of (admittedly bleakly small scale) optimism in the line “I can live with growing older, for all the rainbows of October” albeit peppered by the relentless ticking hi-hat marking the passing of time, and bookended by a single sombre tolling piano note, like a mini-Bredon Hill knell.
With its gentle airy picking and rich upright bass You Are The Reason has the feel of an English village Girl From Ipanema (the Girl From Chapel Milton, perhaps?) but it’s slightly uneasy-easy-listening with the unsettling / unsettled chords and halting fragile vox: despite resolving to major in the school-piano-accented chorus (and a lithe bass ‘run’) the dissolving hanging close maintains that air of uncertainty. Uncertainty turns to menace in As I Have Always Done - insistent muted guitar-clucking and a rising-and-falling bass line, later beefed up with squeezebox / harmonium, could be the theme for a provincial P.I. (‘walking the mean streets and alleyways of Cheadle Hume’) underlined by the world-weary vocal: our hero emerges into the sunlight briefly in s lush multi-voice chorus before returning the the guitar-filled shadows and another unresolved close.
A brighter palette is used for the title track: chiming acoustic guitar leading a duet where David’s quiet, questing vocal is joined by the velvety tones of Kelly Bayfield (co-producer/arranger and provider of much of the harmonies throughout) in exchanged verses of loss and solitude, before combining in unison in the more optimistic closing lines. The closing track, My Friend Who Brought Me In - dedicated to Kelly’s late husband Mat “… who left us for other adventures on 2nd October 2019” - also opens with David’s vulnerable reflective vocals, backed by high-capo’d near-mandolin acoustic guitar, but the resolute, upbeat harmony chorus and appearance of a stirring colliery-brass section (with some fine cornet-like lead) ends on a more positive high note (in both senses).
‘Soundtrack for summer’ so often seems to mean relentlessly upbeat, cider-advert-popfolk or endless Balearic beats under unbroken sunshine, but All My Days evokes a real British summer - muted colours, blustery moments, the chill as unexpected clouds gather and the heavens open, and the sudden joyous warmth when they break…
All My Days is a complex, but rewarding, listen that engages your heart as much as your ears.
All My Days is available now, to listen to and purchase, here: https://davidbooth.bandcamp.com/album/all-my-days

HAIKYUU BOYS AND THE COLOR OF THEIR LOVE
Tumblr media
might make this a serie because writing these make me painfully sob <3
-> timeskip! bokuto, suga, kuroo, kita, sakusa
Tumblr media
bokuto’s is the yellow of a thousand suns, turning any tears on your cheeks into sumptuous rainbows, born from the mellow words that bubble out of his talkative lips. ten words per second and a hundred more thoughts just to hear the sweet harmony of your laughter resonate against the walls of your living room, whose furnitures are still waiting in heavy cardboard boxes. the thick fabric of his sweater is barely keeping you from shivering, every goosebump a reminder of how shy spring is this year. but bokuto doesn’t care about cold springs, nor autumns or winters for that matter. because his kid will be born next summer, meeting the world in its most beautiful form : lulled by golden skies and the steady buzz of bees bustling in sunflower fields.
suga’s is orange, the same tint as the mandarin peels heaping up on your coffee table on a cold winter day. the citrus smell lingers on your fingertips and swirls in your nose alongside the thick scent of the burning fireplace, flames just as orange dancing for your intertwined bodies slumped on the couch. shadows and shades of amber are painting the white canvas of his skin, soft as the fuzzy skin of a ripe apricot. but the darkest shades of orange lie in his eyes. sweet as chocolate and heady as dark rum, they’ve been looking at you for more than an hour, debating whether or not he should propose to you right here and right now.
kuroo’s is the red of the digits of your clock. it’s glowing in the dark of the velvet night and throwing vermilion hues onto the blanket under which you two have been talking about the purpose of existence as well as the neighbor’s new cat for the past minutes. or hours ? you sneak a quick peek out of the blanket - the red lights have the shape of 00:57 now. and so you hurry back in your cocoon, engulfed in the sweet smell of his cherry and cocoa butter shampoo, not wasting any second to wish your husband the happiest birthday. the fifth he’s spending by your side.
kita’s is green. from the sage sheets of your kitchen curtains to the stems of the flower crowns he likes to adorn your head with, it’s flowing in his veins like the sap of an oak. a quiet strength rooted in the soil, perfect balance of light, water and care that he diligently provides to you every day of the week. kita’s love is an immutable three-leaf clover, overlooked by those in quest of the famous fourth petal, but cherished by those who know how to appreciate its modesty and simplicity. laying down in the tall grass of your backyard, his calloused hand seems to have found its place between your palms, just like the emerald ring has found its place around the fourth finger of your left hand.
sakusa’s is white. it was supposed to be red, but the lady at the jewelry store said they were out of red velvet boxes. but white was the color of all colors, what better promise of an eternity together ? neither the red of anger nor the blue of sadness would ever get the best of your marriage’s heavenly white. a marriage as spotless as the narrow apartment he had promised himself to get you out of, as soon as he would have enough money to buy the family house near the bakery and the elementary school. a marriage that makes him wonder what he has done in his past life to deserve it. and on days when he comes home to your sleeping figure tucked in on the couch, he thinks that he must have been the hero of his generation.

That’s not a mirror -- ? “  “ Bitch ! Cheap shot ! “  “ Okay - enough of this foreplay ... “  “ Sorry to drop in on yer family get-together with -- guns ? “  “ How ‘bout I even the odds ? “  “ It’s a scanner tapped into the FBI Database on wanted criminals. It’s like a supermarket scanner for food, but for fingerprints. “  “ It gives me an idea if someone is wanted, and what their bounty is worth. “  “ Half a mil for this guy, two hundred grand for his brother, and another three hundred and fifty grand for your cowboy. “  “ His rap sheet was binder worthy, ( Name ). You were in danger and I saved your ass. “  “ My ass didn’t need yer savin’ ! “   “ You should be thanking me. “  “ Yer obviously not listenin’ to a word I’m sayin’, ( Name ) ... so lemme help ya on yer quest fer deafness. “  " ... not enough to get me back ta my happy place. “ “ Kidding, my armor took the brunt of that. “  “ -- But, in the future, don’t mess with my clients. I have a reputation to protect. “  “  Wanna give me a hand with him ? He’s heavier than he looks. “  “ I got some calls ta make an’ a mess ta clean up - do whatcha haveta an’ get out before I make you my next target, got it ? “  “ You’re just lucky I’m in a generous mood, you maniacal twit. “  “ I guess I deserved that. “  “  It all went bad. You gotta give me a few more days. I swear you’ll get every cent back, or my name ain’t ( Ridiculously Dumb Name ). “  “ SWEETSASSY MOLASSY ! “  “ If you had minded your own business, I would have the money I need by now. “  “ That robbery was staged, you melon head ! “  “ First, name-callin’ll getcha sliced lieka six foot hero at a kid’s party, so cool it. Second, I knew there was somethin’ off about that hold up. “  “ Now, tell me everything or I’m gonna sing ta the cops. “ “ As you can figure, I didn’t have the money and I was desperate. “  “ I hired some wannabe actors to pose as thieves to rob my place, so I could collect on my insurance and pay off the debt. “ “ Hurry it up. I’m gettin’ tired of all this backstory. “  “ Well, ( Name ) took off at the first sign of trouble, so my loyalty to them is out the window at this point. “ “ What ? NO ! She wanted it for herself. That girl is a complete hot mess. “  “ She has a couple friends in north Hollywood. “  “ Nope, yer gonna drive me there, an ‘ I’m gonna finish this job once and fer all. “  “ I hope you have a nice car. I don’t wanna be seen in just anything. “  “ Well, I sold the Rolls and Lamborghini to pay off my loan. I still have on car though -- bought it from the prop house on the warner lot ... “  “ Are you sure you aren’t on a bender right now ? That story sounds a bit over the rainbow, ( Name ). “  “ I was hoping you’d let me crash at your place. “  “ You owe me ten large already, why should I give a crap what happens to you ? I could waste you and call it a loss. “  “ I brought a lot of business your way remember ? “  “ What you brought by being here, is trouble. “  “ Let me guess, you’re so stupid - you parked your car right out front ? “  “ I’m leaning towards offing you myself. “ “ So it doesn’t have missile launchers or anything ?! “ “ It’s just a prop car. Nothing in this town is real. “  “ You wait for me. Drive away an’ I’ll hunt ya down and decapitate ya, capeesh ? “  “ Yeah, I get it ... just be careful, you’re on their turf. “  “ Me. Me, who just asked you. Just a second ago. Right here. In front a’ ya. Is it the air out here or the constant sunlight causing the brain damage ? “  “ You got two seconds ta remove yer paw from me. “  “ From the looks a’ yer clientele here, I’m sure one of ‘em can recommend a plastic surgeon ta fix that busted schnozz. “  “ So, hand it to me and I can save you a trip, and a loss of said hand. “ “ Really ? Some little girl robs you and you’re afraid to go after her yourself ? “  “ Well, you just sit tight and let the big boys take care of this ... and ( Name ) ... it better all be there ‘cause the boss said if it wasn’t, he’d allow me the pleasure of gutting you like the pig you are. “  “ Don’t make me more pissed than I am already. It’s gonna get ugly. “    “ Those guys are after ( Name ), I don’t know why they’re coming here. “  “ My name is ( Name ), and I’m part-owner, you decked one of my staff looking for me, remember ? ”  “ Include unlimited juice bar and you have a deal. “  “ You’re whatever we want you to be, so shut it ! “  “ The kid’s a mess and needs help. Anything you do’ll be better than where she’s headed. “  “ Maybe, but there’s fallout. Look at ( Name ) and what happened to ‘em ... She’s lyin’ an’ extortin’ her own mother ta keep the lifestyle. “  “ May I present mama ( Name ) ? This is gonna be fun ... “ “ ( Name ) Before you beat your daughter within an inch a’ her life, can we talk first ? “  “ Your daughter needs help, and as fun as it may seem, I’m afraid a good old fashioned beating is only going to alienate her more. “ “ First, you need to get yourself some help to be able to deal with her and understand what she’s going through. “  “ Boundaries and limits need to be set, getting her away from this town is probably best. “  “ What ... what kind of bounty hunter are you ?! “  “ The cash -- or I tie you both to a truck and drive it over a cliff. “  “ Here’s the setup you’re the wild card, a total unpredictable ball of angst and energy ready to take down anyone that gets in your way. You’re sexy and savage at the same time. “  “ It’s a loan with interest, ( Name ), so don’t get too excited. Plus, you owe me all the sammiches I can eat. “  “ Hey, hot-head, can I buy you a drink ? “  “ Aw, well gee, I’m happy for you an’ still pissed at you for killin’ my cowboy friend. “ “ Anyway, like I was sayin’ the first rule of this business is not to get attached to anyone or anything. You need to learn this right away. “  “ I’m gonna be right back. I'm gonna check ta see if I got re-booked, an’ then I gotta pee. Do me a favor an’ order me another shot. “  “ Ah, you live there, Princess ? “  “ Nope, just gonna do a bit a’ shoppin’. “

The Void War
The stars in the deep purple sky of the Void winked down at Tomix as he leant over the railings of one of the balconies of the Void Ship. They were close, so close, to reaching Envy and he could finally complete his quest, even though that meant he had to…
The sound of approaching footsteps made him turn his head, and despite his sombre mood, his lips quirked up at the sight of the Hero. "Hey. How's Pandora?"
"She's…calmer," the Hero rubbed the back of their neck. "She's still pretty emotional after regaining her memories – and as she's the Elemental Spirit of Woe, she tends to feel that particular emotion pretty strongly – but she's determined to help us stop Envy."
"I'm glad to hear it," Tomix nodded, turning back to watch the sky.
The Hero bit their lip as they examined him, noting his paler skin and dimmer eyes, concern for the wellbeing of one of their closest friends welling up inside them. "How are you holding up?"
Tomix sighed deeply, hanging his head and closing his eyes. "I'm tired, Hero. I'm so very tired... I've been on this quest since I was just a kid. Thirteen years. Thirteen long years and my journey is finally at its end. He's the only one left." Opening his eyes, he raised his head again and inhaled deeply. "You know, I sometimes wonder what my life would be if I had not released them. The six corrupted spirits and... Aspar. I'd graduate from Edelia, travel the world, find a partner." His lips curved into a small smile. "We'd get married, open up a small weaving shop, age together, get fat and have many children."
The Hero snickered.
The smile vanished and Tomix sagged against the railing, looking as tired as he said he was. "And instead my life is a series of unfortunate events."
The Hero stepped forwards so they were alongside him. "Surely there must have been at least one good event?"
Tomix paused before turning to look at them. "You."
"Me?"
The small smile returned. "Yeah. After we met, during my hunt for Greed, I was always looking forward to your arrival in Ravenloss. I've really enjoyed adventures with you. It was good having someone else watch your back."
The Hero blushed slightly before grinning. "Hey now, we'll have many more new adventures ahead of us after we banish Envy!"
Tomix's expression dropped again and he turned back to face the Void before his eyes widened. "We're here!"
****
The Void Ship circled the strange building of towers and corridors, with the swirling purple and black Void Core situated in the middle, sending up a beam of lighter purple light. The ship was keeping its distance and Tomix had sent Aegis to have a look at the building's layout, so the crew could plan their next move.
A flash of icy blue light alerted the Soulweaver that his SoulAlly had returned. "Good, you're back! How are things?"
"Give me a second," Aegis raised his hand and began to draw a birds-eye map of the structure from ice, revealing several large corridors circling around the open centre, with the Void Ship at the entrance. "There. No one has spotted me, and I got a good view of the entire structure. This is how it looks like from the top." At Aegis's direction, the open centre began to glow softly. "The core is here." The square block in front of the centre began to glow. "The chamber is the only way leading to it." Next to glow was a block of ice connecting the ship and the chamber. "This corridor goes straight into the main chamber." The two corridors on either side of the main corridor lit up. "These two corridors on both sides do not connect to the main chamber itself, however...The door leading into the main chamber appears to be enchanted by Envy. It is engulfed by a weird, swirling green energy."
Aegis dissipated the map and turned the face the rest of the crew. "All the corridors are swarming with void creatures. And... that's not all. These two corridors that I've mentioned... there is an ‘unlocking mechanism’ at the end of each of them..."
Tomix frowned. "How can you possibly know this? Envy wouldn't be that daft."
Aegis sighed, his expression twisting slightly. "Because... it literally says 'unlocking mechanism' in big, bright letters...over the two human beings who are connected by this weird green energy to the door."
Izaac gasped, his eyes widening in horror. "Oh Avatars, I know what Envy did..."
"What?" Riadne asked in trepidation
"Seal of Ativa!" Izaac choked out. "He used the very existence of those two people in order to lock the door shut. The only way to unlock them is to– "
"–Kill those two people..." Tomix finished, expression tightening.
The Hero snarled. "That's sick!" Through their bond, they felt a pang of intense sadness from Pandora and they brushed their fingers over the cube by their side. ‘It's not your fault Pandora, I promise. He did this himself, and we will stop him!'
"There has to be another way to unlock it!" Riadne insisted.
Izaac shook his head. "No, you don't understand. Seal of Ativa is one of the few legendary and forbidden magics. Magics like this don't have any loopholes. You can't break their rules."
Tomix clenched his fists as Aegis rested his hand on his shoulder, sending support through their bond. "We are too close to back up now! I am aware that this whole situation is sick, but we have to do this... we are too close..."
" I will do it," Yashta intoned solemnly.
"Blimey! And so will I," Captain Mazurek added. "I did worse thin's than that."
Riadne whirled round to face them. "I... can't believe you people are even considering this! What's wrong with you?!"
Mazurek scowled. "Sweetie, leave sailing t' the sea legs."
"Stop fighting!" The Hero broke in. "We have to be united, now more than ever!" Once things had calmed down, they nodded and turned to Tomix. "Okay. We all need to do this together. Tomix, what's the plan?"
Tomix watched the building in the distance. "I'm fighting my way through the middle corridor to the door. Hero, Aegis, you're in?"
Aegis and the Hero nodded determinedly. "Absolutely."
****
As Aegis had promised, all three corridors were packed with Void spawn. Izaac, Riadne, Yashta and the Soulweavers had gone down the left hand corridor and Mazurek, her crew and Vaal had taken the right, leaving the Hero, the Dragon, Tomix and Aegis to go down the middle.
A Void elemental lunged at the Hero, but they dodged out of the way. "Oh you, stop ticking me!" they smirked before finishing the elemental off. Next to them, Tomix was completing his retribution attack to defeat a Decadere youngling.
A group of Void monsters decided to charge at once at the Hero, hoping to overwhelm them but in a flash of white and yellow light, Pandora appeared before them, armed with a large scythe with a rainbow blade and her sigil in the middle of it. Twirling the scythe in her grip, she proceeded to hurl in at the approaching enemies, with the scythe turning into a spinning disc that sliced through them all before returning to her grasp.
"Wow!" the Hero whistled appreciatively. "Nice moves, Pandora!" Their SoulAlly smiled in thanks and the Hero turned their head to check on Tomix before their eyes widened as another Decadere youngling tried to attack the Soulweaver's turned back. "Tomix, look out!"
Tomix whirled around but before the monster could attack him, Aegis appeared and batted the Void creature away with his shield. "Thanks, Aegis."
The elemental spirit grinned. "I've got your back!"
A flicker of pain passed over Tomix's face and he lowered his head as memories of when he and Aspar were bonded, when he thought his best friend had his back the way that Aegis did now, filled his head. Fortunately, he was jerked out of the painful trip down memory lane as one of the communication balls that Eirn had given them on the ship crackled into life.
"Hello? Is this working? Hello?"
"Yes!" Tomix replied. "Izaac?"
"Tomix, bad news. We lost a few Soulweavers and the majority of them are injured. Riadne's patching them up and Yashta is doing his best to keep us safe, but there are simply too many Void creatures. We have to go back!"
"Izaac, please... you can't..." Tomix implored. We're so close…we have to stop him…I have to…
"What's going on?" The Hero asked, fighting their way over to Tomix as Pandora and Aegis kept any approaching Void monsters from attacking while the two of them talked.
Tomix hung his head. "Yashta's team isn't doing well, Izaac wants to retreat."
The Hero glanced at the two elemental spirits. "Could Aegis help?"
Tomix exhaled shakily. "You're right; he could. Are you alright with that, Aegis?"
"Of course!"
Tomix nodded and turned back to the Hero. "I don't know why I didn't think of that…"
"You're under a lot of stress," the Hero reassured him. "You take a moment to catch your breath while I sort this out, then we can get back to fighting, okay?"
"Yes…thank you, Hero."
"IZAAC, CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" the Hero turned to the communication balls.
"Gaaah... yes!" Izaac yelped. "You don't have to yell!"
"Oh, okay. Listen, we're sending Aegis over to you, he'll make an ice wall between you and the creatures. You'll be able to rest and gather your strength."
"That would be very helpful master!" Yashta's voice sounded over the speakers.
The Hero scowled. "Stop calling me master!"
"Apologies. That would be helpful, Hero."
Aegis gave Tomix and the Hero a thumbs up before teleporting away with a flash of ice.
"Now, excuse me," the Hero turned to Tomix and grinned before calling their dragon. "Let's go!" The two of them charged towards the enemy lines and Tomix allowed himself a small smile before returning to the communication balls.
"Maz?"
"I be a wee busy dear."
Tomix frowned slightly. "How are things on your side? Is Vaal helping at all? Is he fighting?"
"Oh, he be fightin' alright..." Mazurek replied, sounding very amused. "But wit' his Soul Lass."
Tomix blinked. "His... what?"
From the background of the speakers he could just about hear a very irritated female voice. "...And you're summoning me after five years, expecting me to help you?!"
"Alee, this is NOT the right time for this!" Vaal protested. "I need Transcendence! I need my weapon to defend myself! Or would you rather let me die?!"
"I really don't care."
"TRANSCENDENCE!" Vaal bellowed.
Evidently, Vaal's SoulAlly acquiesced as Mazurek gave a hearty laugh. "Yarr, we be doin' great darlin'."
"Erm... alright," Tomix shook his head as his brain raced to catch up with what had happened. "Keep me updated." Allowing himself another small smile, he raced to catch up with the Hero as they continued to defeat the Void monsters with their Dragon and Pandora by their side.
"Everyone okay?"
"Yes; Aegis will help Izaac's team and Mazurek's team is good to fight together, now that Vaal has stopped squabbling with his 'Soul Lass', as Maz put it."
"I…see," the Hero raised their eyebrow before grinning. "You'd never catch me fighting with my Soul Lass, would we Pandora?"
For the first time since the island that held her memories, Pandora let out a tinkling laugh.
Tomix let out a small chuckle (how long had it been since he had laughed? Not since he had found out that…) as he and the Hero ran forwards together into battle. "We're halfway through, let's go."
****
They didn't know how long it took to defeat the rest of the Void creatures but eventually, Tomix and the Hero reached the doors to the chamber. Aegis had rejoined them a while back – with Pandora returning to her cube so her presence didn't cause any mishaps, although she would emerge every so often to deal with a group of Void creatures with her scythe – and Izaac and Mazurek had alerted them over the communication balls that the seals had been lifted, although Mazurek's message had come with the added problem that Vaal had run off.
"Tomix, the doors!" the Hero pointed as they paused to catch their breath. "They're open!"
Tomix hung his head sadly. "But at a cost of two innocent lives..."
The Hero placed their hand on his shoulder and squeezed it. "They will be remembered, and they will be honoured. We can't save everybody. But their demise will not go unnoticed. Envy will pay for this, Tomix. He will."
"The Hero is right," Aegis nodded solemnly. " After all this is over, I can search for their souls and notify their families."
Tomix inhaled deeply, collecting himself, before raising his head again and adopting a look of determination. "Let's go–"
"You can't," a voice broke in, and three figures stepped into the doorway, blocking their path.
Tomix scowled. "More of Aspar's minions?!"
The Hero folded their arms. "Let me guess..." They looked at the dark green humanoid gargoyle, the one who had spoken. "You are Green..." Next they turned to what looked like a fusion of a basilisk and a human. "You are Brown-ish- Red..." Finally they turned to the final minion, a moglin with a human face. "And you arOHMYGOODNESSWHATAREYOU?!"
"I'm very sorry," Green intoed. "But we can't let you through."
Tomix snarled. "Well I'm sorry too, because I don't care!"
The battle that followed was long and hard – Envy had obviously prioritised fighting skills in his minions that made it very inconvenient for whomever they were fighting – but eventually they were defeated, Red and Blue having dissolved the way Yellow had.
Green had sunk to his knees. "I have failed...but it's okay..." A wry smile formed on his lips. "I'm free."
Tomix looked down as Green shattered into pieces. "Now we can go, come on!"
"Tomix, I think we should wait for the rest of the crew," the Hero cautioned. "We don't know how exactly strong Envy is..."
"I think that is wise," Aegis added. "I shall go and check to see how far away they are."
"Okay…" Tomix nodded reluctantly as Aegis vanished. "But we can't wait too– "
Before he could finish his sentence, the building shook with an ominous rumble.
The Hero glanced around them. "That doesn't sound good. The more of us there are to confront him, the more likely we are to be able to stop him."
Tomix's chest was heaving and his eyes flashed about wildly. "No…NO! AEGIS!"
A block of ice materialised and fell away to reveal Aegis, looking rather confused. "Is everything–?"
"Synchronisation!" Tomix yelled, desperation colouring the edges of his tone.
Aegis frowned in concern. "Tomix, we've never tried it. Besides in your current state, synchronisation would be very unwise…"
"PLEASE!" Tomix begged, his voice breaking.
Aegis met Tomix's eyes before bowing his head and nodding, resting his hand on Tomix's chest. There was a flash of icy blue light, as it looked like Aegis melted into Tomix's body before it cleared to reveal the Soulweaver standing there, eyes and hands glowing white and blue, the colour back in his face but the corruption from his shattered SpiritLooms having worsened and spread down to his elbows.
"I don't care if there are more minions in my way," Tomix declared, voice echoing slightly and sounding like a mix of his normal voice and Aegis'. "I'M GOING!" With a flash, he shot off into the chamber, only leaving behind the faint blue glows of his figure.
"TOMIX!" the Hero yelled after their friend. "Damn…we need to go after him. Are you two with me?" The Dragon gave a determined chirp and Pandora murmured 'Always' over their bond. The Hero nodded before running after Tomix. "He doesn't have to do this alone."
