Divine Rivals is a Dream of a Read
I know, given how popular this book is on social media platforms, that you’ve heard all about it. You probably have had this on your TBR since the first week it popped up. I won’t take up too much of your time, but perhaps I can give you a dose of realism to take onboard with Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross. It won’t be a downer or a spoiler – simply, a thing to remember as you’re reading it. You…

“After the Holocaust, it has become almost impossible to conceal large-scale crimes against humanity. Our modern communication-driven world, especially since the upsurge of electronic media, no longer allows human-made catastrophes to remain hidden from the public eye or to be denied. And yet, one such crime has been erased almost totally from the global public memory: the dispossession of the Palestinians in 1948 by Israel. This, the most formative event in the modern history of the land of Palestine, has ever since been systematically denied, and is still today not recognised as an historical fact, let alone acknowledged as a crime that needs to be confronted politically as well as morally.” ― Ilan Pappé, The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐚. | ★★★★☆

It's frustrating being a person who's really only interested in diverse adult science fiction and fantasy books and has no interest in YA/kidlit or romance.
Frustrating because on one side the people who are into primarily adult sff are only talking about the generic medieval euro cishet mantasy slop; the Wheel of Dragon song light storms by Brandon Mcwhite dude, then the other side is primarily only about YA or "NA" romantasy.
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's near impossible to find diverse adult sff book people that aren't like 90% into YA/ YA books masquerading as adult with majority of the adult books they read are romantasy smut 💀
So as relatively romance/sex repulsed asexual and someone who doesn't care for narratives centering teens/kids, I'm just in my lonely little SFF corner. I can't interact with the broader book fandoms because both sides of it don't interest me much
It's the same issue I have with anime/manga fandom which is 99% about infantile battle shonen and then Berserk as the token adult manga. For God's sake where are the grown adults interested in adult stories where the only thing that marks them as adult is smut?
I like to read about adults with adult problems I also like to read about queers & POC in Interesting fantasy/sci-fi worlds

I have read many way better ya dystopian romances (idgaf legend is fucking great) and Shatter Me rlly did nothing for me, i actually really dont get the hype for it. I read the first three books too, i was dedicated to it but after those three i was just. hm i dont care to read the rest of the series (why did shatter me of all things get popular)

Revisiting Fourth Wing - How Has My Opinion Changed
So I read and wrote up a review for Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros rather soon after its release in hopes to beat the hype and get a genuine reaction out of it. While I certainly enjoyed it, I have since seen a lot of responses and reviews of it and I can’t help but question my review and understanding of the novel. I figured, nearly two months after my initial read-though, now would be a good…

Just finished these two and OMG why do I not hear more about these???? This series was sooooo amazing. Much better than the shadow and bone series!!! I don't understand how they haven't been made into big movies yet!!
5⭐ for both of them!
I fell in love with the characters. I literally cried over them. Jesper and Wylan deserve happiness forever because they are sweet babies ❤️
The actual story was so great. All the elements that go into a big heist with a lit of moving parts. The political aspect of the story. The risks of working with other people. It was just absolutely amazing!! 10/10 would read again.

REVIEW: The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King by Carissa Broadbent
3/5 ⭐⭐⭐
Let me start by saying that the first book BLEW MY MIND. It was SO GOOD!! I loved it so much. It had action, world-building, and angsty romance. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT.
I really want to say that I loved this second book, but it was just alright for me. It definitely gave me "Of Wings and Ruin" vibes, all war and no play. I seem to remember enjoying it more in that book than here. I understand that the story had to progress like this to conclude Oraya and Raihn's story, but it just didn't give me everything I hoped it would.
It was very political, and there weren't any twists or turns that had me shocked. I wasn't excited or surprised about any of the info we learned about Oraya's past. It was just okay. It was good, but it wasn't outstanding. However, I will say that the first half of the book was definitely slower than the second half. I was really irritated by Oraya's attitude during the first half of the book. I found her internal monologue to be annoying. At a certain point, both Raihn and Oraya's use of "there he/she is" stopped working for me. I didn't connect with them as I did in the first book. But with that said, Raihn was the best part of this book.
Seeing as this is the end of Oraya & Raihn's main story, I look forward to reading whatever comes next for this universe!!
Overall, I DO enjoy this series as a whole. The first book is OUTSTANDING, and I will forever recommend it to everyone I speak to. ❤

My novel is a Paranormal Mystery about my main character Ripley who accidentally gets hit by a car and enters the Afterlife. Once she enters the Afterlife she joins a group of Guiders for murdered and suicidal souls, and on Ripley's first Guide she loses the soul that she has to Guide to the Upper Region. Now Ripley must choose between finding the lost soul before it expires or figure out if her death was indeed an accident *wink wink*
