Cale and his family are so fucking touch starved that it is not even funny. Give them all the platonic physical love they need.

Hugs anytime, because why fucking not? Let the kids run in their room and give Cale hugs at random times in the day. Make him try to awkwardly hug Rosalyn to congratulate her for her achievements. Allow Mary to receive all the hugs from the wolves when she lets them ride the skeleton dragon.

Good greeting cheek kisses and goodbye kisses: This is a tradition that started with the tiger, but everyone adopts it when they see each other after a long time or if someone is going to be far away from the Rock Village.

Forehead kisses, mostly from Lord Sheritt, who shows affection to the kids, but also to Cale because he has this cute and weak appearance.

Nap time with all the wolf kids because they are just big dogs and everyone has a weak spot for them and their puppy eyes. In the nap time, Beacrox puts soft blankets and pillows in the grass and sits with the kids while reading; he says it´s because someone needs to take care of them, but everyone knows it's a lie.

Cuddling with the tigers—that is just all of them sleeping under the sun in the garden. Cale not very secretly love this moment of the day because is literally big cats with fluffy and soft fur to lie with.

This is completely trivial, especially since the bedchamber—or camp, or whatever it should be classified as—at the Elfsong Tavern is designed like that for the sake of gameplay and probably not so much for the sake interior 'design-realism' (whatever that means).

But

Since the bedchamber kind of has the appearance of a dormitory for travelers, it would probably have made more sense if the beds were alcove beds. Especially when assuming that the bedchamber isn't always occupied by an entire gang of people who know each other, and even then some more privacy would probably still have been nice.

I generally feel like fantasy games and other types of fantasy stories should utilize alcove beds more often. Especially when the fantasy world has this medieval, renaissance feeling to it. It's the olden times gosh darn it and people need to keep warm! Alcove beds do just that! AND they look cozy as hell!!

Just like people like to slap corsets on everything in historical fantasy settings we should have alcove beds everywhere and box beds too!!!

What i'm saying is that i'd like it if architecture, and interiors in video games where designed to emit the same sense of functionality as real world architecture and interiors.

PLEASE!!! THEY'RE SO UNDERRATED!!!

"Crosshair!? Ah!" You squeaked out one last futile protest before melting into his touch. A Few Hot Takes About Elite Force

Bree did not deserve to go to Centium City, nor does it make sense plot-wise

In season four it's jokingly established that Bree is becoming sort of a mom-friend, mom-mentor sort of figure. There is no way in hell that she would've allowed fucking Adam and Leo to run the bionic island. She knows those two knuckle-heads would get into trouble. Don't get me wrong, I love when Adam takes control of the situation and when he takes responsibility for Bob in that one episode, but let's face it: he is not ready for such a large role when it comes to that many kids. Dude is not equipped to be a babysitter. When it comes to Leo, while he is more equipped for the situation, he is very well established to make shit go wrong on fucking accident. We see it time and time and time again, not only in season one, but in season four (read: the whole business card fiasco). She would've known that they would've be able to handle it alone, especially when taking into account that their chaperones would've been fucking Terry Cherry Perry and goddamn Douglas Davenport! Excuse me???? No! She would have not allowed that.

Edit- Also, she just got a sister! I know that she said that the excitement was gone after having to change diapers, but you're telling me that Bree wouldn't want to be a part of her life????

Leo did deserve to go to Centium City, and it would've made more sense plot-wise (especially if they kept it mostly the same story-wise)

Leo, as we all know, gets along great with Kaz. Not only that, but he's a superhero nerd. I guarantee that if Leo just knew wtf the 'secret project' was, he would've been on board faster than the train to Downtown Welkerville. It would've been epic to see him interact with not just Kaz, but Oliver too? Skylar probably would've felt like she fit in more too, because she's definitely one of the boys (not in a pick-me way, in a nonbinary way). It would've been really fun seeing Chase trying to battle Kaz, Oliver and Leo down from playing Topple Tower and whatever other various games. Such as, for example, Leo jumping off the building for Kaz and/or Oliver to catch him before he fucking dies. I know this was more of an Adam and Chase thing, but I still think we should've gotten a prank wars episode, and since it's decidedly canon that Bree is, at best, mid when it comes to pranks, it could've gotten real fucking intense. I love the idea of Oliver and Kaz warning Chase and Leo about Skylar being really amazing at pranks, and then when they don't really notice her being weird or suspicious, they just think it was to mess with their heads (which does or does not work, depending on if you want a Sicillian situation on your hands or not) so they brush it off, only to be bested by the prank master. But I'm getting off topic. The biggest reason that I think that Leo should've gone to Centium City instead of Bree is because of Episode 9 and Episode 10. In episode 9, The Intruder,we are introduced to a character named AJ, who finds Chase and Douglas in the Mission Command (aka, the basement) by mistake. And I know that they often draw comparisons from AJ to Chase, but I think that it would work way better with Leo— Better yet, Leo and Chase. Like Chase, AJ is autistic coded, socially inept, and a tech nerd. But like Leo, he means well. He wants to be a part of the team, even though objectively that maybe shouldn't be allowed. He snuck his way into this family by running into them when he didn't mean to, when he was just exploring where he lived. AJ should've gotten bonding time with Leo. Maybe then, the common headcannon that AJ will/would become Mission Specialist like Leo once was, would be cannon. Next is Episode 10, The Rock. In The Rock, AJ makes a list ranking the most useful/gifted in the Elite Force, to the least. This causes Bree to become insecure when she's placed in the middle, leading her to attempt getting more powers by touching the Arcturian. I will always stand by the fact that this was a fucking stupid idea. But when it's Leo? This idea becomes nearly fucking genius. Leo would likely be placed in a similar place, if not lower, given that only part of him has powers. He is not bionic, he has bionics. And, y'know, he's a superhero nerd; why would he not want superpowers. He also is reckless, which would make sense why he would touch the Arcturian without really thinking about it as much as he probably should. And best of all, this could be a personal secret, instead of a secret between him and someone else, like it was with Bree and Skylar. After all, Leo already has a buffer. His arm. Leo wouldn't need to be endangered to get these powers, he already paid that tax years ago. Leo would finally have powers. Not just partial powers; real, true powers. It makes sense that he would be the first bionic superhero. Leo deserves to be the first bionic superhero.

Edit cont.- I do think that Leo would want to be in Naomi's life too, I understand that. Especially with his dad having been absent in his life, he might want Naomi to grow up with her family around. But at the same time, I really like the idea of him letting Bree have that honour. Like a bit of an emotional moment as they debate who goes to Centium City and who stays on the island/in Mission Creek, and in the end, Leo knows how much Bree's always wanted a sister and decides that she should be allowed to have that.

I have way more, but I can't remember, so this is probably the last one. Ka-Kai-Ra-Ta-Hee-Haw-Mwak-Floopie-Pazoing should've been in Elite Force

They couldn't have invited Auggie Issac back for one episode just to make it feel more like Caldera? Seriously? She is definitely one of the highlights that we get when we visit Caldera in Mighty Med, and without her, it feels disingenuous. Hell, start the episode with a quick video chat with Gus talking about how things are going in Philly and with The Domain, make the universe feel more coherent and put together. And then, if Chase and Leo/Bree see the call, they could later mention how she looks like Gus. And, not only that, but she could help save Skylar. Like, instead of Scarlett just being like 'hey muthafuckas, lemme bring you to ya girl,' it could've had this semi-dramatic, semi-emotional moment with Ka-Kai-Ra-Ta-Hee-Haw-Mwak-Floopie-Pazoing where she explains that she saw Scarlett taking Skylar away. She could've explained the whole rebellion thing to Oliver and his accompaniment. They could've had one of those cross cut scenes where it cuts between Ka-Kai-Ra-Ta-Hee-Haw-Mwak-Floopie-Pazoing and Scarlett explaining what's going on, instead of getting weird feeling, one dimensional exposition from just Scarlett talking to Skylar through an oddly shaped TV. I would've loved to see her and Skylar reunite, even for a little bit. Hell, y'know what, Ka-Kai-Ra-Ta-Hee-Haw-Mwak-Floopie-Pazoing is basically not a pet, which is implied through the numerous jokes of her not responding to things that a normal pet do, and the fact that she speaks english. It would've been epic as fuck if she was like... leading a rebellion army. That would've been so fucking awesome. But that would've been far more difficult to do, and I understand that. But the first part? Cmon, she is the heart and soul of Caldera. She should've been there.

Sorry for the super long post that was basically about nothing, but I was ranting to my friend who knows nothing about the lref universe and I wanted to share these. They're definitely the ones I'm most passionate about— not including how I think that Douglas definitely should've been indited more as their father instead of Donald, especially in Elite Force where Douglas showed up more than Donald did. And that Tasha deserves someone better (and I wouldn't exactly mind if that person were Douglas, but I've been over how I think that Douglas deserves a nice twunk)

Let me know if I should make a part two, and I might rant about a few more things they could've done to make Elite Force better.

I'm piggybacking a bit off of the last ask of asking for writing tips but I have an odd question... Am I the only person that struggles actually PICKING a book? It's the absolute bane of my existence because I feel like I can be so picky... Don't get me wrong, I love being a bookworm, and I'm trying to get back into reading physical books but it's so difficult to find a real taste of what the book is like without being completely spoiled or something... I miss when backs of books had an actual summary and not just NO.1 NEW YORK BESTSELLER!!!! It's so frustrating... I've been trying to get back into it by re-reading fond chapter childhood books read to me (The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane & A Wrinkle In Time). But at the same time I'm also trying to get into more "adult" books that isn't... Well, you try googling "adult books" and see how that goes, I didn't think too hard about what a poor decision THAT was. But I'm working up the courage to read Cat's Cradle right now to start with "Classic Authors" I guess!

Anyway I'm rambling here, I guess my question is... How do you pick out the books you read? I don't really have friends that read many books to recommend to me :')

no ok actually you've mentioned something that's been bothering me for a while - What The Hell Do Y'all Mea, Books Don't Have Summaries Anymore???? i have not once in my life found a book that didn't have a summary. i was in barnes & noble recently and everything i looked at had a summary. i have literally never seen a book without one in my life of reading & looking at new books on a regular basis

softcovers have theirs on the back. hardcovers are on the inside of the sleeve - lift the cover and it should be printed right there on the inside flap! summaries aren't legally required but both the author and Especially the publisher(s) know that no one's gonna buy a book without a summary. trust me, all books worth reading have a summary. if a book doesn't have one, it's probably not worth your time anyway. you just gotta know where to look!

so my answer to how i choose books... i read the summary lmao. if it seems interesting, ill either write it down to get later or ill get it there and then.

Before the summary though, i look for any titles that jump out at me from the shelf. then i look at the thickness. i like a bit of meat in my literature, so i tend to shy away from thinner books. thicker ones grab my attention more easily. then i look at the cover - if it interests me, then ill read the summary. i don't have specific tastes in title or cover. as long as it makes my brain "hm" thoughtfully, ill take a gander!

and really, if you have access to a bookstore (chain or not, ive found plenty of bangers in tiny used bookshops) or library, the best way to find a book is to physically browse. even if you dont buy anything, you can take pictures of books / write them down to buy online. but going to the store lets you search them out, examine the length, cover, title, summary - and easily put it back on the shelf or keep it. i hate shopping online bc there's ads, you can't examine the product, nothing really stands out since it's all portrayed similarly, there's limited pictures instead of the physical thing, and photos can lie.

plus, everything is (typically) meticulously sorted by genre & age range. when you go into a section with literature aimed at adults, you'll find exactly that instead of smut novels lmao. real life bookstores can be more accurate than online searches. & there's just something so good about walking through shelves, searching for that one book before you know it exists, smelling the paper... yeah...

#like for example i recently bought priory of the orange tree #ive been wanting it for a while and havent read it yet since im finishing something else #BUT! i remember when i first saw it #nothing had gotten my attention for a while #but then i saw the thickest fucking book ive seen in ages - which was automatically very sexy of it #and then the title was unique - priory of the orange tree??? whoah! what the fuck does that mean!!!#so automatically there was the interest of neat title + a new word that i get to learn + the implications of the word now that i understand #and then i picked the book up and it was deliciously heavy - & there was a Dragon on the cover. which. YES PLEASE #then the summary was fascinating!! the book was immediately seared into my brain! im very excited to read it #so thats a highly successful example of my book choosing Process #it checked all of my boxes so it was a win #most books dont check all of my boxes but as long as it hits most of them im down to clown yk yk #but yeah im picky too so! nothing wrong with being picky or having high standards!#rambles from the bog #my shelves are fuckin Full of books ranging from 'it was ok' to 'I WILL RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL WHO WILL LISTEN'#and then i have a drawer filled with books that i just could not care less about / dont like #but dont have the heart to throw away bc. well putting a book in the trash kills a part of my soul #i need to donate them...#but yes! i hope that helps!#and Thank You! i hope i get a callback as well...

Acceptable change: fixing the Gale bug so that when you ask him to give you a moment in order to go and grab a magic item for him from a chest, you can actually do that. Sounds like a true bug impacting gameplay. Makes logical sense as well because waiting an additional minute for the item seems a lot more logical than permanently leaving the party in which case he would definitely not be getting any magical item, hastily screwing himself over.

Unnecessary change but not too bothersome: Giving Lae'zel a less harsh dismissal dialogue as her approval of you increases. Not a bug but the other characters dialog changes as they like you more right? So I see why they'd want to include the same for Lae'zel. Now, does it feel in character? Ehhh honestly debatable.

Unacceptable change: LARIAN GIVE ME BACK THE ORIGINAL FRANC PEARTREE LETTER RIGHT NOW. WHYYYYY would you change a COMPLETELY inconsequential letter that is so so small?? It provided such good characterization to a largely neglected MAJOR ANTAGONIST. Let Gortash be flirty and fruity and just so extra about wooing people. Let him write frilly pretty words to Franc let us have that insight to his character!! The new letters are so bland in comparison I hate it this is not my Gortash!! I'm throwing up!!

thank you @cursedvibes for the tag. it took me a while to do it because i don't really like the fics i've written, idk, writing for me is dealing with my adhd brain and the results never really make me happy they just give me relief. i think part of it is that i despise my writing style, the language, i have no turn of phrase. i find it unpleasant to read. but at the same time i like the process of planning a story and its setting. so the fics i will list are those which i really enjoyed making up a setting for, which i think have fun world building and/or plots/intrigues. these are from oldest to newest.

Fairytale kingdom, nightmare castle

it's my first fic ever, it's actually huge (157,059 words) but unfinished, i want to get back to it but it needs 2 action filled chapters and i'm scared of that. it's actually a killugon fic with canary as the third protagonist, hxh power system but in an empire/regency inspired aesthetic. it's very plot driven, world building heavy, has scenes from many povs. it has a courtly/political intrigue.

this fic is special to me because i made a friend through it. but also it's one of two fics on this list that are a vibe... like it kinda has a plot but it's mostly a vibe and to some extent a vague musing about the hxh story line plus a tribute to Blame! aesthetic. oh it's a killugon. it's also my one and only attempt at horror, it's not really scary or creepy, i can't do mood writing to save my life.

this fic is also basically a vibe, it's a fic i wrote during the pandemic and it's about loneliness and craving connection. it's also a killugon. this one is an urban fantasy au, gon's a magical creature killua is a human. i didn't set out to write them both ace in this fic, it just kinda turned out like that.

this is me going against all my instincts honestly. i usually dislike fairy tale retellings and here i'm kinda writing one. granted i made it my comfort zone so it's as not fairytalesque as i could. but it has the trappings of the beauty and the beast. it's world building and plot heavy. it's a sukuita fic, also a pairing i never expected myself to like, even less to write for.

The Only One

this is another first one for me, when i really consciously and purposefully wrote a character to be quite ooc. i just needed that. it's also extremely tropey, royalty au, harem au (like it takes place in a harem, there isn't a harem of lovers to choose from), there are fabrics and linguistics, there's a palace intrigue. it's an author pleaser, i wrote it to make myself feel good. it's a sukuita fic, sweet and angsty.

happy 12-year ao3 anniversary to me!

I posted my first fic on AO3 on 12/20/2010, exactly 12 years ago. I’ve posted 235 others since then, meaning that I’ve averaged posting almost 2 fics a month for the past 12 years, in addition to churning out roughly the same amount of original fiction during that same amount of time. Prior to AO3, I posted fics to LiveJournal and Fanfiction.Net, but several years ago began posting to AO3 exclusively.

Some fun numbers:

-I’ve posted roughly 1.4 million words to AO3 in that time.

-The fic with the most hits is Finding Home, which was only posted a year ago, followed by Nor the Years Condemn, which was posted 11 years ago.

-My most kudos’d fic is the spaces between, and this fic’s popularity has always baffled me, because it’s such a niche fandom and pairing. How does this 3K fic for a tiny pairing have 9K fewer hits and yet 300 more kudos than Finding Home?? I will always be confused but also delighted by this.

-Finding Home also has the most bookmarks, but The Fall of Gods has the most comment threads, followed by An Age of Silver. This makes sense, because not only are these my two longest fics, but they’re the two fics I posted chapters of on a weekly basis. Nowadays when I have multi-chaptered fics, I tend to post them all at once.

-The 2 fics with the most subscriptions are quicken to the new life and late, but not too late, both of which I hope to return to once Good Omens comes back!

-There are hundreds of you who subscribe to me, meaning you get an email every time I post something, which is wild to me considering how many different fandoms I write for. How does it feel to subscribe to me for HP content and then get slapped in the face with MASH or Good Omens??? Regardless, I’m happy you’re here, and a special shout-out to those of you who have been there since the beginning!
