Remember the focus group/surveys we mentioned yesterday on yougov.com? Well some folks have been trying to sign up and been having some issues finding OFMD, so our lovely, sweet, amazing @libbyroseitm was kind enough to make a tutorial for everyone! Twitter Thread. YouGov rating tutorial! Make an account first, then follow these steps. If you'd like to see what kinds of questions it asks for you to sign up, visit here. Step 1: On your Account page, scroll down until you see a link for "View All Ratings", and click that

Step 2: You'll be taken to a screen that says "Rate Everything", click on the link for "Not What you're looking for?" and it will pop up a model that gives you a button to click that says "Previous Version" Click that.

Step 3: Once in the new version, type the name of the show (or actor, writer, etc) you'd like to rate

Step 4: Select your show when it pops up, and then rate it and add an opinion if you'd like!

Special Notes:

People probably aught to be careful to keep personal information to themselves.

You can search for actors and other films and tv shows related to OFMD, not just the show itself.

At last, some details!

(A while back on @srmthg we had a zine interest check, and it remains open for any additional suggestions/feedback about what you'd like the zine to be (you can also shoot this blog an ask) but I don't plan on doing a second interest check. If enough people feel this is a mistake, there's still time to do one, but as it stands I don't see the point. I will continue to accept feedback and take it into account moving forward!)

By the way, my name is @netbug009 and I'm your friendly head mod for this project! This will be my first time running a zine, but I've been helping run projects in this fandom for 18 years!

The Format

SRMTHG Zine (cooler name tbd) will be a free PDF zine scheduled to release on September 18th, 2024, AKA the 20th anniversary of the series' first episode!

I know a lot of folks (myself included) like to have nice, shiny, hard copies of zines, and I hope to get the zine onto a publishing on demand site such as Lulu to let people buy them at-print-cost if they'd like, but a free digital edition will be the first priority. Since this zine is a celebration of the anniversary of a relatively small fandom, I want as many people to be able to access and enjoy it as possible! Plus, this is my first time running a zine, so I think it's smart to keep it simple. This also lets us worry less about page counts - if a lot of cool people contribute cool stuff, a PDF can be a chonk as we want!

The Content

The zine will include both fanart and fan fiction (and maybe even a few QR codes to some other digital goodies like AMVs and fanmixes if there's enough contributor interest!)

Light shipping will be allowed, with a few exceptions - no adult x child and no monkey x human ships will be allowed. (This was THE overwhelming request in the interest check and is not open for debate.)

We're going for a general vibe and love the idea of getting copies into the hands of voice actors/staff, which should give you a rough idea of the type of content we're going for - if it's too creepy/fetishy to hand to Ciro at a convention, it's too creepy/fetishy for the book. (That said, Monkey Team is a very silly and weird show with a love for classic horror tropes so I hope people don't let that limit their imaginations too much if they wanna do something spoopy!)

NO AI WORK WILL BE USED OR ACCEPTED IN THE CREATION OF THIS ZINE. I hope that'd be a given but just to be 100% clear, no.

The (Rough) Timeline

March 2024 - Contributor Applications Open!

April 22nd - Zine members selected and invited to Discord

May 1st - Zine members finalized

June 1st - Zine check-in 1

July 1st - Zine check-in 2

August 1st - Zine pieces due!

September 1st - Zine layout finalization due!

September 18th - ZINE RELEASED!

You might notice this is a pretty long timeline for a zine and we're starting pretty early; because this fandom is fairly small and this is a big occasion, I want to provide extra time so that as many people can hear about the project and participate as possible.

If you're looking for something to do until contributor apps open, SIGNAL BOOST, SIGNAL BOOST, SIGNAL BOOST! Reblog, post to Twitter, tell your friends, get the word out so this can be the biggest celebration it possibly can! If you make any graphics in your quest to help get the word out, PLEASE tag this blog so they can be shared!

it was this instant he started to feel something for you

maybe even fall for you

he took it upon himself to visit regularly

and even invite you to the events in the domain

you found little ways to communicate, from sending letters through the villagers in Hateno to messages in glass bottles

he fell for you more and more with each letter

and every time you came to visit, he’d find a way to show you every bit of the domain

he’d carry you to Veiled Falls for private picnics

and to Toto Lake when you wanted a swim with a view

he loves you with every ounce of his being

and he’d do anything to keep you by his side

OOC: hey folks! Just wanted to give an ooc message. It’s a little late for new year’s, but still.

Thank you for following this little project. I’ve been consistently blown away by the following I have here. Thank you for supporting me both with likes, reblogs, and fun tags, but with merch as well. It means so much to me. I have like 300 asks in my inbox and so many of them made me laugh when I got them, or made my mind go crazy with ideas. I’ve developed a lot of this setting in large part due to submissions making me think about it.

I’m on the last day of a week long PTO I booked. I got a lot of stuff done behind the scenes, a couple projects I’m keeping secret for now but I hope you’ll see before too long. I also adjusted (hopefully for the final time) the button designs (including all the poster styles that weren’t available before), and did some writing. I wish I’d been able to sit down and just queue dozens of asks but alas - life and time don’t stop when you’re on vacation. Thank you all for your patience, and I hope someday I can do this full time (along with some other OPN-related things) so I can have a faster turnaround on that stuff. Going forward I might be a bit more choosy simply due to the amount.

I have a lot of ideas for things I want to do with this project and I hope I get to do even half of them. We’ve hinted at one of them already. I’m really excited for the future of this, and I hope you will be too.

As a final note, soon I’ll be adjusting the prices of the stuff in the shop. The stickers and buttons may increase in price by about 50 cents a piece, but sticker shipping cost will decrease. That may be in the next few days. Check out the ko-fi for prints of my posters, stickers, or buttons, or to just send good vibes.

Thank you all for your support and love. Reading tags is my favorite thing in the world currently. Log 2: Living Under a Rock

It's been a week since my drop-off at the hospital....no surprise I've been having trouble sleeping, I got some work leave from my boss at the nature reserve.....god damn I'm fucking tired.

Local folks both new to the town and old friends have been pandering for questions.

Some of the local middle schoolers kept fallowing me to my work place asking me about the metal guy. I simply told them I shot him in the eye, than he exploded.....I wasn't expecting those annoying brats to tell other kids about it. Obviously the local pastor (Mark) has been sending his goons to come to my cabin to convince me to come to church for the sake of saving my soul and all that "lovely" jazz. I told them I literally may have met the devil, shot him in the eye, exploded , and now he's dead and thus to leave me alone.

Some folks are a little more respectful and just ask me about more personal things. Got recommended a therapist who just moved to town named Miss Jenny Oakley, nice lady, smiles all the time and has an impressive 3 PhDs in psychology and mental health medication. She's been helping me get through the whole thing and believes I'll be able to make a speedy recovery. She trusts my resolve and that's good in my book.

....now "Newly appointed Deputy" Jeff (my ex-boyfriend) apparently thinks he can just give me the presidential treatment. He keeps following my car EVERYWHERE. I feel like nuisance now this has happened, people keep staring at me when Jeff just follows me at this point. You'd think after our falling out he'd have the self respect to be a little less...creepy about it. He's stopped by my cabin to keep checking up on me....I wonder if he thinks it's going to be like in the movies where estranged lovers get back together if something happens....jokes on him... I do not need a guy who has tried to convince me to move to Ohio and insult my family's cultural background to boot. Asshole.

Anyways, I've been hanging out at this new coffee shop that's just opened up...it's cozy, sells actual homemade pastries and the coffee is pretty good. Finally, a nice third place. I've noticed more people around my age go there too .... however I've noticed one group constantly eyeing me from across the shop every time I go...they call themselves the "Marine Spotters"...I have no fucking idea what that intels, one of them came up to my table, had the audacity to sit down in front of me like he knew me.....

"So..........you saw one?", the unshaven neck beard asked.

".......you know you could have asked to sit down and I would have said yes but fine go off Gabe Newell.", I'm not usually this hostile but things have gotten tense for while....I wouldn't blame anyone for being upset at me for it either.

"heheh very funny, anyway, my name is Benedict Grabowski. I'm the local expert in these "big metal men "....I see based on your description you've seen a "Black Legion" marine. A level 3 on the danger scale and are quite rare in these parts.", he adjusts his glasses. "The fact you even survived a harrowing encounter with one is without a doubt a life achievement and a free ticket admission to our organization!", handing me a business card with some edgy cartoon spaceman, it had his phone number, email address and an actual address...it was the abandoned mineral mine not too far from the animal reserve I work at....

"I hope your membership will prove to be of great use to us.", concluding with a smug look on his jolly face.

I sat there ready to throw this guy from window I was seated next to....but I'm certain the shop owners wouldn't be too pleased.

".....why the .org?"

He acted confused, "I beg your pardon?".

"...the .org....on your email address....you don't work for the Tillamook station do you? I told them I don't know shit.", took a frustrated sip of my coffee.

He laid back, "well...I...what one would call....a "white hat hacker"....my services in online server hacking, government surveillance and hehe...not to brag...a national code cracking champion of the Tokyo Code Breaker competition. I actually am...not a huge fan of our corporate federal overlords and I only desire for their inevitable downfall through me tanking their stocks."...

I literally was sitting across to a felon....

"so ..with your epic survival skills, my tech mastery and my collaborators", he points to his original table of collected individuals; a heavyset goth girl, the kid of one of the local beef farmers and one creepy guy I remember being the weird kid in highschool.

"Hi Steven.", I wave to him.

"Hi Lorey!", he waves and gives his creepy grin that in through literally means nothing to me. He does it for a cheap bit that I'm certain Jeff already knows and is dieing to catch him for something.

By this point Benedict was actually shocked I knew Steven. "What?! I thought you just moved here!"

I chuckled a little, "I use to live here, I know the area rather well but it's changed a bit since I was last here back in 2003. Also....what the shit is this all about?". I point to the business card.

His shocked expression transforms back into that stupid 'big shot cool guy' look. "Well, we spot those big metal men. Turns out....these anomalous entities are actually appearing throughout the whole planet. All of them of variety and....motives....". He looks around, takes out a folder of the ever lovable 'blurry photographic evidence' one would expect looking for cryptids. "Behold. Humanoids who walk amongst us!".

Im staring at the photos, one struck me to my core ....the big black and bronze one I saw being blown to chunks...the one that killed Grandpa.

"ah...I see...so it was that one.", leaning towards me closer....I can smell the fucking butter from his croissant he ate at his table. "If you need us...call us....", he decided to leave a second card....ok....."anyway, surprised?"

I was a lot more than surprised....I must have been living under a rock...."yeah....I am."

After that I decided to go home. On the ride back, I couldn't help but wonder if Benedict was telling the truth... about them being everywhere...that's a scary thought in all honesty.

I get out my car and took one long glance at my Grandpa's cabin. His only inheritance to my mom. When I said the funeral was a mess, it was an absolute garbage fire because on the same day we had his will reading. His most valuable possession in his will was this cabin, and boy was my aunt pissed she didn't get the property. At least Mom had the last laugh, anyway....as I was remembering that day....I noticed something that sent shivers up and down my spine.

A blood trail....it looked like it came from the forest behind the property, up the steps and on to my doormat. I get out of the car, cautiously, for I all know whom ever left this bloody mess is close by.

It was a huge leather sack, sealed tight with...a red wax in the opening. It was leaking a lot, I was hesitant to open it, but the blood smelt familiar. "....it can't be....", I tore off the hard wax, the gamey stink of deer was permeating throughout the porch. Opening the sack, I saw what could be weeks worth of meat. I was stunned! All nicely cut and cleaned ...I tried lifting the sack without getting some blood on me...failed...and brought it to the cellar freezer. As I placed the meat in the freezer, I saw there was a note on the bag I hadn't noticed....it was a handwritten note for certain....but I had no idea what was written on it. Again, Nordic ruins were present...but it was mixed with another language...I took medieval history a short while back and had the privilege of almost learning how to read medieval texts....it was close to it...and yet... completely unreadable for me.

I set the note on a table and save it for later.

Everything has been so strange lately.

The hours pass, and I finally decided to do some digging....this has to be some...real life ARG or something....it's either a dedicated group of cosplayers....or... something is really out there...it's so uncanny....

I am so incredibly late to the party on this one! But! I was so incredibly honored to be invited!!! @eliotqueliot tagged me, and this was the first time I have EVER been tagged in something like this, so even though my response is late to a degree of insanity, please know that it literally filled me with an explosion of joy that I was thought of and included 💕

Ok, Rules: In a new post, post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPs. Buckle in folks, I have SO many.

I'm keeping it just to The Magicians, but if anyone would like me to repeat this process with other fandoms I am in but not primarily focused on right this moment (like Merlin or TMA, both of which I have pretty solid handfuls of fics in the works for that I will get around to eventually) feel free to ask! Eddie knows the truth. Under the height and beneath the scowl that seems to have permanently etched your mouth into a pout, Eddie knows the real you. Other folks see it only in glimpses when they come into the shop. Death has a way for others that requires a kind of softness to be discussed. When people come in with pets they're not ready to let go, the glasses are pulled down from the top of your head, you round your shoulders, you take up less space and talk a bit more quietly to help the person through the conversation.

But when folks come in wanting prize kills or to quote, you turn the shoulders back square, you are cordial and polite. And everyone in town has a different story about you because of it. All of them are good, except a couple from your senior year where a fight or three found sucked you into the vortex. Not that you wanted to be in those fights. Not that you would get into other ones with the purpose of starting them. No one can really say anything bad about you in the way you interact with others.

But everyone says the same thing, He looks sort of scary, off putting but really he's nice beneath it all.

Perhaps it doesn't help that you stroll the town in leather jackets. Perhaps your profession doesn't help either. But in the end, it pays the bills and has led you to leading a fairly stable life. Save for the surprise root canal you had a year ago, which stretched things thin for a little bit.

Perhaps it also doesn't help that in the company you keep resides your boyfriend--Eddie.

Another puff of breath hits your neck. "Love, what's going on?" you asks, setting the tweezers to the side before you damage the eye you're working on.

"Nothing," Eddie returns, shaking his head. "Just watching."

"Can you watch from the side? Your breath is tickling me and I can't mess up this part."

"Sorry, sugar," Eddie kisses your cheek and then moves to the left of you, leaning gently onto the work bench.

You would've thought Eddie would be doing literally anything else on a Saturday morning. But just as you were turning the key to open the doors to the shop, you heard the blaring drums and wailing guitar paired with squealing tires that let you know your boyfriend was pulling in. As you turned to confirm the suspicion, Eddie was climbing out of the van. His eyes were a little puffy which let you know he woke much earlier than usual and had come here. You told me over the phone last night post Hellfire that you had a couple things you needed to finish up today when he proposed a day date. You were only mentioning that you'd be at the shop around 8:30 in the morning under the hopes that if you finished early enough you could catch him right as his day started to see if he still wanted to hang out.

But the late night conversation places you both here. Eddie leaning into the work bench, mindful that you need nothing to jostle you. Eddie notices your hands haven't moved back to resume your work and he smiles before looking up. "What's going on in that head of yours, big boy?"

The nickname makes your cheeks heat up as you release a laugh. "Shut up. Don't you have homework to do?"

You're a year older than Eddie, but knew of him in school and occasionally spoke to each other in the halls. It wasn't until you spotted Eddie's band at the Hideout on a Tuesday night that you two really talked and now, a year later, as placed you two in a comfortable relationship of eight months. There were four months where you were sure of your feelings where Eddie wasn't sure if you'd be weirded about by his need to repeat is senior year.

"No, I don't, actually." Eddie is smug as he says it.

You peer at him over the top of your glasses. His face hardens into the resolve. "Eddie."

"I did it. Earlier."

Your eyebrow raises in a silent question to his statement: did he really?

"I didn't want to have to be doing stupid homework while here. I just wanted to spend the day, fully uninterrupted with you." He adds the last part softly, hand coming up to trace your jaw. His gaze makes yours falter. Eddie can't help the laugh, watching the way you fold to the tender touch. "God, you're so easy."

"Oh fuck off," you spit, and you want it to hold so much more vile than it does. But it comes out in a whisper--meek, like you feel right now as Eddie's fingers run until he's cupping your jaw.

"Give me a kiss."

It's a soft demand that you're happy to obey and Eddie grins against your lips just as you pull away before speaking, "You can't tell me fuck off when you're the one that obeys so well."

"I do know how to completely detach and reattach an eye, I wouldn't exactly test me," you huff out. It's a weak threat.

"Hmm, something tells me you wouldn't ever actually do it. Now I'm going to stop distracting you so you can work, yeah?" Eddie pulls his hands away from your face, settling down again atop of the stool you'd brought over for him before you got started.

"Perhaps, that's what we should be doing," you laugh. "One more kiss though?"

"I can't say no to a pout like that," Eddie whines, taking in the sight of your weathered eyes behind the glasses and the pout. This kiss is short and sweet like the others, but the two of you linger. You know you want more. You suspect Eddie does too, but the way he gives in with another peck.

But there's work and you need to do it. So you turn your attention back to the buck head. Eddie's voice only penetrates the silence occasionally to ask questions. You're more than happy to answer them.

When the bell from the front desk rings, you push up from you're seated and slip out of the gloves that you've been wearing. Eddie swats at your ass as you pass and you hardly blink an eye at the action. "Hi, Mrs. Pugh," you greet.

The conversation is short to Eddie's ears and then the bells above the front doors chime again a few minutes later, you return, washing your hands in the sink before you slip into another pair of gloves. They're black and not the ones you usually had in the shipments. But Eddie bought you a box of black gloves just for shits and giggles once and now you continue the tradition.

It's only another hour of work for you before you call it a day. Saturdays were usually short days for you anyway, though more people stopped in during the afternoons, you tried not to work with the animals for too long on Saturdays preferring to give more space to the front--people making payments, dropping off, picking up. It was usually a steady stream and any attempts to do both would become overrun by the demands of customers in the front.

Eddie migrates with you, when you transition from the work in the back to manning the front desk. "So I was thinking for Christmas that maybe it might be a good idea for me to decorate the trailer. Wayne loves the holidays but because he works so much, never gets to the chance to do much."

You nod at the comment. "Let me guess, you don't know where to start do you?"

"Not in the slightest."

You were currently in the process of moving into your own place but it wouldn't most likely happen until early spring. Until then you were still with your parents and they'd become a little famous in town for having one of the best decorated houses.

"I'll help," you return, spinning to face Eddie.

From the outside, this might look like you crouching in on Eddie, given that you had him by about six inches and about twenty pounds. But Eddie and you both know the truth. He reaches for the wide silver buckle--a belt you wore religiously--and tugs you between his legs. "Thank you. We have some lights. Not sure where we can fit a Christmas tree."

"Don't worry about it," you return softly. "Leave it to me."

"Have I told you today that I utterly fucking adore you?"

You laugh a little, mostly an exhale through your nose. "Not yet."

"Well," Eddie stretches up, lips brushing over yours. "I utterly fucking adore you."

The sentiment is sealed with a kiss. His hands slip under the gray t-shirt, tracing the bumps of your abs. You settle deeper into Eddie, one hand slipping to his hip to tug him closer. You can hear the echoes of your own kissing, the smack of lips as they part. A hum travels up Eddie's throat and you swallow it down for him.

The moment is interrupted by the chime of the bells above the door. "You know, I should not walk in on you two making out as much as I do," Steve huffs.

You and Eddie are slow to pull apart. Eddie turns to face Steve first, his arms winding around your waist to keep you close. "You're just jealous."

"Whatever, Munson. Honestly, if my dad didn't ask me come here, I think I'd live a longer life," he teases, leaning into the counter. "How much more does he owe you by the way?"

You tap at Eddie's elbows to check the ledger and he pulls away from your body for you to work. You're sure it's paid off, but you've always learned to check before you speak. The harrington's usually paid on pick up all in full, but with the holidays approaching you know more and more people are paying in segments. You flip to the H's and go until you see Harrington. "You're paid in full as of last week."

Steve nods, pushing off the counter. "Thanks. You can resume now, make out in front of the very large windows. The whole town's watching." He knows the taunt won't stop the two of you in the slightest.

As a way to say thank you to all of you guys, I'd like to open a mini fic request sprint!

How does this work? Well, I have created a googleForms where you can submit requests! Anything goes, all requests will be filled no matter the character/ship, subject, spice level, etc! Anyone can send a request!!

So, like, is this a raffle of some kind? Nope! Every person who submits a request will get a ficlet (unless there's duplicates somehow, which will be consolidated). May not be first come first served, but I'll get to everyone eventually!

Will these be readerfic only? Nope! If you wanna see a ship or other interaction, you can request that as well! Just keep the average fanon character ages in mind, i'll write fluff/angst/etc for everyone but spice is for the grown-ups only!

But Bird, why not via your askbox? Good question! I plan to keep these short, between 100-500 words each, and want to be able to group them up and post them in batches. I'm also asking to check blog status/age (so please have that ready!) by having the requests be private this will also allow folks to remain anonymous if needed 🤗

But Bird, what about your request rules in your pinned post? Fuck the rules! 🤘 when i say 'free for all' i mean it! This one time only!!

Finalized Update Schedule: October 8, 6:00 am (GMT+8)

Hello! I hope you’ve all been doing well this week! Like I mentioned above, the update’s finally coming :) And there’ll be no further delays, I promise. I will be sending the edited last scene for the update to my testers later, or tomorrow morning if my headache still persists tonight, but I’m truly excited to show you this!

As of now, there are three main things I wanted to discuss:

FUTURE UPDATES

For the sake of my health, mentally speaking and to help my eye issues recover somewhat, I will be taking a one-week break from writing after every update. I’ll still be answering asks, but I’ll be limiting myself to that.

Reblogs for the updates are very much appreciated every time. That’s really the only way for me to reach more readers, and it’s also quite motivating when I see folks reblog my silly posts and my silly game.

I’m no longer going to write as many prompts as I did last year; I kinda learned my lesson with that (that was a very bad idea of mine). When I do share prompt lists, it will probably be every 2 or 3 months, and you’ll have to wait a week or two before I actually get to writing your requests.

My target right now is to upload an update every 2 months, although this will only be possible if I get to focus on writing.

Please expect there to be more edits to preceding updates once I upload the next ones. It’s just how I write. For all the years I’ve written screenplays, I’ve never finished one without making a lot of edits to the opening parts. This will likely happen here, too. What I plan, though, is to do these edits once I’ve given my updates to the testers and before publicly releasing them, so there will be no time wasted on it.

Any kind of feedback and/or suggestion will be appreciated every time I push out an update; they help in motivating me, which then equates to a faster pace of writing, as weird as that may sound.

The first book for Hollowed Minds is quite long, so I will be looking forward to your continued support!

If anyone here has a better sense of time management than I do, please help me out and give me some tips lmao.

I’m planning to launch my patreon a week or so after the update; I’m also aiming to set up my ko-fi in a way that you could choose to get the same benefits there instead if you wish to.

I hope y’all wouldn’t see this as greediness or anything alike, but I’d definitely prefer to focus on writing Hollowed Minds as much as I can, without a lot of distractions. Gradually raising funds through these platforms would help in doing that, while ensuring that more frequent updates will come in the future and that everything with regards to my health would be properly taken care of. Setting this up will also help me manage my time more efficiently through stricter deadlines, and you’ll be free to cancel your subscription at any time.

I want to ask for your inputs with regards to the content you wish to see in here. So far, I’ve been planning for: sneak peeks, lore content and q & a, more plot-oriented snippets for the ROs, bonus short stories for the characters, access to polls, and a 2-week early access to the succeeding updates once applicable. I honestly don’t want anyone to just waste their money, so knowing what you want to see would be great.

A weekly progress will be kept free to view here on tumblr, though I will also start posting them on patreon and on ko-fi. (I might not post them at certain times if I feel like I didn’t have sufficient progress to report about.)

FEEDBACK

I don’t like having to keep asking for them, but really, receiving any sort of opinion about the game and especially about its characters will help a tremendous amount. While I do have testers, it’s not as if they can catch every issue in it, so knowing how you feel about the overall flow will be appreciated.

I will be searching for more testers for the next update, so keep your eyes peeled!
