Writing Prompt 412
“That did not go as I hoped.”
“Really? Are you sure?”  X wiped dust off their face.  “I thought that was how all your plans go.”
Y grinned. “It’s how they go, not how I want them to go.”

❛  so, i sort of started a civil war ...  ❜ ❛  i am so sorry for turning my back on you as my mentor.  ❜ ❛  i needed to understand what real suffering was, so i could become more compassionate to others.  ❜ ❛  what's the big idea with making me train this early in the morning? the morning is evil.  ❜ ❛  oh, i'm sorry. did i put you in a difficult position by fighting the giant force of pure evil that was going to destroy the whole world? maybe your administration could have handled that.  ❜ ❛  fighting is something the old me would do. that always made things worse.  ❜ ❛  let's go on a vacation, just the two of us. anywhere you want.  ❜ ❛  it's all right. people usually assume that i'm daddy's helpless little girl, but i can handle myself.  ❜ ❛  the world is in trouble ... i have to go help.  ❜ ❛  i'm impressed. no one has ever gotten the better of me like that.  ❜ ❛  i assure you, i have a plan. and i'm saving you for last; then you'll get your duel, and i will destroy you.  ❜ ❛  when we hit our lowest point, we are open to the greatest change.  ❜ ❛  i did what i had to do to survive and protect my little brother.  ❜ ❛  and ... what am i going to find if ... i get through this?  ❜ ❛  we should always learn from those who came before us, but we must also forge our own path.  ❜ ❛  why don't you come and find out?  ❜ ❛  if you look for the light, you can often find it. but if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see.  ❜ ❛  you need to make decisions based on what you want. don't make the same mistakes i did.  ❜ ❛  i don't know what i'm supposed to be doing half the time.  ❜ ❛  right, friends. no, no, i didn't mean to imply.  ❜ ❛  i do like the idea of putting you on a train and sending you far, far away.  ❜ ❛  you need me, but i don't need you.  ❜ ❛  you swore your loyalty to me and i gave you a chance at greatness. this is how you repay me?  ❜ ❛  i told you dating a teammate would be a bad idea.  ❜ ❛  stick around five minutes and you'll find out who's bluffing.  ❜ ❛  wait! we can't fight them all. we need to be smart about this.  ❜ ❛  you know, it's okay to be scared. the important thing is to talk about our fears, because if we don't, they throw us out of balance. i'm always here for you, if you want to talk.  ❜ ❛  what i'm trying to say is, as much as you drive me crazy ... i also think you're pretty amazing.  ❜ ❛  see, that's what i admire about you, [ name ]: your willingness to go to extremes in order to get what you want. it is a quality we both share.  ❜ ❛  ending a relationship is kind of like pulling off a bloodsucking leech. you just gotta rip it off and get it over with. you'll feel a lot better afterwards. trust me.  ❜ ❛  don't tell me you are still mad about everything that happened?! i did some good things, too!  ❜ ❛  all right, hold on. will you quit ignoring me and tell me what's going on?  ❜ ❛  how about, for now, i just promise not to show up at your house and attack you again?  ❜ ❛  what would you do, if you were in charge? help me be more like you.  ❜ ❛  i wish you were putting up more of a fight, but it was still fun.  ❜ ❛  please, just let me say one thing, then i'll never contact you again.  ❜ ❛  i'm not sure i'll ever be able to forgive you. but that doesn't mean i shouldn't try.  ❜ ❛  i came here to look you in the eye and tell you that you have no power over me. i will no longer be scared of you.  ❜ ❛  but if you had any other options, you wouldn't be here now, would you? we may have been enemies once, but for now, our interests align.  ❜ ❛  you don't have to apologize for anything. i'm just so happy you're here now.  ❜

crossfire!
the virus was meant for the leader. why do you have it? 『dazai, kunikida, chuuya, fyodor』 season 3 spoilers!
dazai!
came as a surprise to everyone in the ada
it wasn't unusual for members to be in the face of danger
but for something as specific as this to harm you of all members? strange
it was obviously planned for someone else and yet you were attacked
dazai was not having a good time
it got even worse when he was also hospitalized
Nervousness wasn't a friend of Dazai's; it could be better categorized as a stranger. He never had a reason to be nervous before. You never made him nervous before. But now, not able to protect you in your moment of vulnerability, the horrendous emotion creeped into his mind without warning.
"Man, this sucks," he groaned, head thrown back. He was waiting for his phone to ring with a call from Atsushi. Oh, how he missed getting calls from you after you finished a task outside the office. For now until they take down the virus ability user, he'll have to deal with staring at the candid picture that he set his background.
kunikida!
you knew blood in alleyways was a common occurrence
you also knew to not get involved
but when it's bordering the sidewalk? crazy
he got the call from the hospital in the middle of the day and was like O:
the mafia doesn't know who you are but their connections run deep
he's just hoping everything will be solved before you're in danger
His schedule did not have a 'call from the hospital regarding s/o' event jotted down. It was stressful as he knew that not seeing you would keep you safe, especially when news of Mori also getting the virus reached the detective agency. Him suddenly going to the hospital would immediately put the mafia's sights on every patient there.
For now, he'd need to distract himself with planning on how to get rid of the virus. Both for the safety of Yokohama and the survival of you. All the news he has related to you comes from Haruno; he hopes they'll fix everything before the timer on his watch goes off.
chuuya!
man is willing to protect your unconscious body with his LIFE
anyone who'd willingly think he'd allow his enemy to take the only person he actually likes in the mafia is dumb
he was so paranoid an ada member would come after you that he skipped on going to the hospital
refused to leave your side even when he's needed
not even dazai would risk getting into a fight with him during this time
he promised to help in times of need, anyway
Chuuya kept on ignoring his ringing phone, sharp eyes watching the entire room from your bedside. He already informed Mori that he refused to leave your side. Hell will appear on earth if anything happens to you while he has the power to prevent that. The ringtone was different than the other contacts he had, but not yours.
The caller was persistent. "What?" Chuuya didn't want to be professional or polite with whoever was calling, since it definitely wasn't any of the mafia members. His hand tightened around the body of his phone, the words the person on the other side of the phone was speaking pissing him off. "Ridiculous," he muttered, but loosened his stance. You'll be better soon, guaranteed.
fyodor!
would kill the virus ability user immediately
you and your ability were far more important than this unneeded piece in his plan
sure, the virus ability was also good, but yours was amazing
if it took a while for his subordinates to end him, he'd pretend as if nothing was wrong
there's also the ada and mafia going after the guy as well, and he knows they would not allow their leaders to die
you'll be in tip-top shape to continue in assisting him in his plans in no time
The Russian calmly hummed, the tea he was served brewed just perfectly. His phone was in front of him, three digital monitors playing. The top one showed your vitals, the pulse lowered than before his plan took action. The middle one was his subordinate. His heartbeat was normal and he was seemingly confident. Strange.
Ivan's was at the bottom, erratic. He was panicking, obviously losing. It was a shame the virus ability user wouldn't die at the hands of one of his minions. His interest grew when the middle one changed to anxious. He'll be able to move onto the next step in his plan. Simply perfect.

Pairings: bodyguard!Leon × college billionaire!reader
Word count: 935

Summary: You confronted your step-mother.(please i suck at summarizing as the chapter progress)
Tumblr media
𝚇𝙸𝙸𝙸.
“Never thought you had a guts to even consider me as your mother, dear.” The woman in front of you, who’s your step-mother—the mistress of your father, the woman who ruined the marriage of your parents. She was right, she never expected you to even consider her a mother, let alone being called as a Mother.
You take a deep breath and look at her dead in the eyes, “you’re right, I don’t consider you as my mother,” you frown and clenched your fist, “I only called you mother because of my father, now that my mom is gone. I called you mother because my father wanted me to.” You remark as you could feel the tears from the back of your eyes.
“You ruined their marriage, you took father. Now you wanted to take my life too?” you weep, fist clenching as your nails dug to your skin.
She chuckle and turns into laughter, she laughs as if she’s royalty, hand on her mouth as she lets out a laugh. “No hard feelings, dear.” She flashes a smile and put her hand on her hips, “you’re just ruining my plan, that’s all. Got to take matters to my own hands, you know?”
“What did I ever do to you?”
“You did nothing wrong, but your birth did and so does your mother marrying your father.”
Leon could only stand beside you, listening as the family drama unfold. You felt betrayed by your step-mom, you thought she’s a decent woman with a habit of controlling others to their clothing of choice. She always looks out for you best, managing to fool you when she thought she’s concern for you.
But she isn’t.
She was even relieved that when you go to your school party that a student held, you were almost assaulted. Little did you know, that she knew that Leon wouldn’t be by your side that time. But what about the bring your bodyguard bullshit? That was just a façade.
She paid them money, the drugs and the men… it was all hers, Leon always thought that no one in the right mind would just do that out of the blue—you never made enemies, you shut idiots out from your world.
The more she talks, the more Leon loses his shit. As if his ears were ringing at the annoyance of her voice, “god, you fucking talk too much.” He aim and shot her in her left shoulder, she screamed and ordered her ‘men’ to attack, “ma’am, we’re just scientist.”
“Do I look like I gave a shit?! I pay you dirty money so do as I say!” The woman snaps while gripping onto her shoulder, hissing and groaning in pain. The three men don’t know what to do, the big guy attacked with a chair in hand, Leon pulled you aside and shot the guy in between his eyes.
“I don’t have time to play games!” Leon shouts and made a quick rundown at the two men, shooting them in their leg. The woman got to her feet and tries to run away, Leon shot her in her leg—making her scream in pain and agony. “You’re not escaping me.”
Leon turns to the tan male, “when I ask a question, you better answer truthfully if you wanna live.” The agent threatened, pulling the mans hair, “tell me,” Leon kneels and make him meet eye contact, “will she turn to, you know. One of them?”
The man lips trembled as he answers the agents question, “n-no, although there will be side effects since we buried the piece deep in her skin—she wouldn’t survive if we stuff a bigger piece inside her wound,” his pistol points to the mans chin, “to be sure though, she needs some medications…”
Leon nodded and stood up, letting go of the mans hair, “I think I’ve heard enough.” He turns to his earpiece, “Hunnigen, send the choppers.”
“Just did.”
The agent smiled and walks up to you, “you’ll be fine.” He assures, “help me with them, hm?”
Tumblr media
You manage to help Leon with the three people who’s behind of this all, the sun is already rising and it’s now 7 in the morning. When out of the mansion, you took a deep breath and inhale the welcoming breeze as it touches your skin.
The three were badly wounded by Leon’s shot, he didn’t bother patching them up.
The blonde agent stood beside you, watching as the sun is rising. Silence filled as he spoke, “we did good.” Leon said, you smiled at him and lay your head on his shoulder. “Hope you didn’t forget the thing you’re suppose to bring back.”
Leon chuckle at your remark and held it high in his hand, “don’t worry,” she smiled and wrap his arm around your shoulder, “mission accomplished?”
“Mission accomplished.”
You heard wringing on the distance as it come close, it was the chopper that Leon called for. There was a couple of agents in that chopper, slowly it got to the ground and took the case from Leons hand and took the criminals in.
“I’ll get you home safe, princess.” Leon mutter to your ear as he assist you inside the chopper, it was now the time for you to relax as you feel Leon’s heartbeat right beside your ear. You hum in content and let your eyes rest, he’s there when you nee him to protect you.
You have a lot to catch up in school and get interviewed by the authorities as your father is worried sick.
But it’s been a fun but terrifying journey, right?

megapost with my fics
(other places you can find me)
harry potter/draco malfoy
goodnight hero, goodnight prey
After the war Harry wakes up inside his cupboard, in the body of his ten year old self. It can only mean one thing. His plan worked. or A Harry from a dark future goes back in time for less than altruistic reasons, taking down all the Death Eaters in the process will just be the cherry on top.
Backfire
Draco tried to curse Potter with a chastity spell. Potter bounced the spell back to him. Draco wouldn't be able to come unless Potter allowed it. Draco was beyond fucked.
Buckshot
All Harry knew was that Malfoy was definitely up to something, and he was going to figure out what it was. Then blond shit shot that damn spell at him. In hindsight, that had been one of the best things that ever happened to Harry.
lately it feels alright
Draco isn't even planning on having morning sex. He's getting ready to leave for class when Harry pounces. The four eyed monster just drags him to the bed and kisses him like hasn't seen him in years, like they haven't just spent a night in each other's arms. Potter's ridiculous like that. Draco just knows he'll end up being late for class (and he hopes Harry's dormmates are heavy sleepers.)
angels like you
It slips out of him while he has Draco pinned down on the floor. "Let's have another one," Harry says as he sucks on the bite mark in Draco's beautiful neck. It turns out to be one of his best ideas.
bad idea, right?
Draco knows he shouldn't be doing this. As he stands in front of the mirror, looking back at a face that doesn't belong to him, he knows that what he's doing is a mistake, but he keeps going anyway. He doesn't recognize the person in the mirror, but he knows he looks great, he looks sexy, like temptation. It's perfect. If Harry is going to cheat on him with someone, it's definitely with this girl.
let's (not) pretend
His wife has filled the house with chintz. To keep it real I fuck him on the floor.
You Show Me Yours (And I'll Show You Mine)
"What is that!?" Draco practically shouted. "That—thing between your legs! What is it? and why is it so... big?" "My prick?" he asked, confused. "It's always been big." Draco frowned at him. "It's weird. I've never seen one." That just confused Harry. "Then what do you have down there?" "It's just different," Draco huffed, his eyes locked on Harry's cock. “Maybe it’s a muggle thing.” "Show me?" Harry asked. Draco bit his bottom lip, considering it. "Alright."
when rome's in ruins
The first time Draco met the Boy-Who-Lived, he'd been drunk in a muggle bar in the middle of London. The second time they met, Harry had been sitting on the front seat for his first Potions class of the year. Needless to say, Draco knew he was in for a long year.
hit the brakes before you crash your broom
Punishment was not something Draco liked. It was by definition never enjoyable, and he more than understood that, but he also accepted that it was something he desperately needed. That's where Potter comes in. “Your problem, Draco,” he said conversionally, “is that you always want to have the upper hand, always have to have the last word. You don’t know when to stop, whether you're winning or losing, and tonight, I’m not stopping either.”
james potter/severus snape
contact with the enemy
No plan survives contact with the enemy. Severus should have remembered those words before he tried getting one over James Potter. But luckily for him, he gets exactly what he wants, just maybe not how he wanted it.
sirius black/harry potter/lucius malfoy/draco malfoy
oh brother, we'll go deeper than the ink
The parchment seems to contain a family tree. Right below Sirius, and connected to James Potter and Lucius Malfoy are two names written in perfectly clear calligraphy. Harry James Potter Black ; Draco Lucius Malfoy Black His jaw falls, leaving his mouth wide open while Draco finally regains his voice. "So you're telling us that Sirius Black—" "Sirius got both of our dads up the duff!?" Harry interrupts, finishing Draco's sentence for him. or, the one where Harry and Draco discover their true parentage almost one year deep into their rivals-turned-friends-with-benefits situationship
we'll take the trail marked on our fater's map
Sirius should have known this would happen eventually. He doesn't say anything when he sees it, but he notices it. It's impossible not to. He sees the way Draco’s eyes travel down when Harry stretches in the morning and his shirt rides up, the way Harry's breath falters when Draco bends over to pick a stray piece of the board game they’re playing. He notices because he’s looking, too. or, the one where Harry and Draco band together to make their dad(dy) lose his mind.
i'll be harder than your husband to get along with
It all started when the Dark Lord lured the Potter brat into the Department of Mysteries, only to end up being exposed to the masses after Lucius failed to get the prophecy from him. Lucius knows what that means for him. It's the third time he has failed Him, amd he knows this time he won't come out of it alive. Maybe that's why he does it. When he apparates, he goes not to the Dark Lord, or to his wife. No. He goes where he promised himself he would never go back to. He goes to Sirius Black. or, the one where Lucius is not having a good time, and gets some comfort from his family
derek hale/stiles stilinski
he's all that and more
One of the first things people learn in St. Ailbe's is that you don't mess with Stilinski. At first he doesn't seem like much, just 147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bones, an hyperactive kid with gangly limbs that is unable to speak without some form of sarcasm, his first impression is harmless enough. But that impression never lasts long. or 5 times Stiles showed he was more than he seems + 1 time he didn't need to
midnight present
By the time the moon went down and Derek came back home, Stiles was deeply asleep. The sight of his mate would've been enough to work him up on a regular day, but then he noticed them. Stiles was wearing gray boxers. Stiles was wearing the special gray boxers.
Douche Wolf
When Stiles Stilinski appeared at his door asking him to go with him to look for a dead body, Jackson knew he only had two choices: one, close the door on his face and spend the rest of the night worrying that he was going to get himself stuck in a bear trap and die or two, suck it up and go with him so he can get him out of the bear trap when he inevitably gets stuck in it. He could also ask Danny or Lydia to go with them, but Danny was busy taking care of his little sister and Lydia would rather eat glass than spend the night running around in the preserve. So really, he had only one real option. - Or, a season 1 retelling where Jackson gets bitten instead of Scott, because there is no Scott at all

Shido did mention that Akechi only learned to use his powers properly because of him, so imo what probably happened was that Akechi was in over his head on the revenge quest, as with everything, and hit the point of no return the moment he contacted Shido. By that time, whatever regrets he might feel were too little too late, since backing away would just get him killed. He had the genius plan of "bury every emotion ever and then die"
I tend to think that, if Akechi wanted to get out, he could find a way. He's clever and resourceful, but he believes he's in control of Shido and of his situation. Don't make the mistake of thinking he's a passive victim—Akechi finds many things about his situation rewarding, IMO, and a lot of things about his role satisfying, and of course those rewards are part of how he buries all those emotions.
The reason he doesn't leave is IMO that it never suits him to do so. If you're an Akechi-survives-the-engine-room truther like all right-thinking people, he clearly does exactly this at that point—he gets out, and stays out.
I think we need to be a little careful of Shadow Shido's assertion that Akechi couldn't use his powers without him. Shido tells us what he considers proper use of the Metaverse to be, back in the little explainer with Akechi:
Shido 理想の達成には、時に邪魔者の排除もやむなし⋯それが『異世界』の正しい使い方というものだ。 risou no tassei ni wa, toki ni jamamono no haijo mo yamu nashi... sore ga "isekai" no tadashii tsukaikata to iu mono da. Those who get in the way must be eliminated at times—that's the correct way to use the Metaverse. If I'm to achieve my ideals, there will be times those in my way must inevitably be eliminated. That's the correct way to use the Metaverse.
Shido considers the proper use of the Metaverse to be bumping off his enemies. He's chosen by God, after all—Akechi falling into his hands was all part of the plan. The Metaverse is there for him, to advance his plans and his ideals. This, IMO, is what Akechi is not doing with his powers, that Shido boasts about enabling: he is not using them to eliminate Shido's enemies.
So when Shadow Shido tells us this:
Shadow Shido 私だから、明智のあの力も、有用に使えたんだ。 watashi dakara, akechi no ano chikara mo, yuuyou ni tsukaeta n da. Moreover, it was thanks to me that Akechi was able to properly use his power to begin with. Without me, Akechi would never have put that power to any proper use.
... we need to bear in mind what Shido considers "proper use" to be.
yuuyou ni tsukaeta—"to be able to be utilised in a useful way; to be put to proper use". This is not IMO about whether Akechi could use his persona, or what his powers were, or developing them further in a lab or anything like that. It means he wasn't using the powers he already had in a way that was useful to Shido. Whatever Akechi was or wasn't doing at fifteen, it wasn't enough for Shido's liking.
It does seem to be adding up to a picture of Akechi heedlessly offering his powers to Shido, committing to get revenge whatever it takes, only to later find out what it will take. But don't ever forget that he walks in with a cruel, spiteful power that emerges from his heart—one he can use to hurt the world and the people around him.
And yeah, Akechi is the poster child for repression, and he seems to do such a good job of it. He seems so often like he's so pleased with what he does and what he is, so satisfied with his empty, lonely, smug existence where everyone else is forever inferior to him. And yet there are those little glimmers of doubt, like the repeated mentions of Wakaba, like the point in Sae's palace when he learns about changes of heart, like that whole inner monologue in the TV studio, when it seems like there's more going on than he wants to think.
*Avril Lavigne plays in the background*
quick followup—of course, Akechi ultimately uses Call of Chaos as a powerup—to make himself stronger and cut his restraints. And as a skill, despite its devastating effects, it seems to be all about reuniting people with their shadows. I wonder if that's its true purpose—to bring those two very disparate halves of himself together. It's not pretty, but then Akechi is not pretty.

I love days when I get an excuse to post music hre, and I hope you enjoy the third helping, the tale bhind the song is a cracker too......
Johnny Ramensky, the Scottish safe cracker was born on April 6th 1905 in Glenboig, Lanarkshire.
His father was a Lithuanian immigrant miner who died when Johnny was young and the young Ramensky also became a miner. It was while he was down the pit that he learned his skills with dynamite which were to prove so useful to him in later years.
Johnny drifted in and out of trouble from the age of eleven and moved to the Gorbals area of Glasgow during the Depression with his mother and two sisters. He developed an amazing physical strength and acrobatic ability but in order to obtain some money, he became a burglar, specializing in robberies involving climbing up external rone-pipes to gain entry to premises. He also developed skills in picking locks and safe-cracking with explosives.
He won the nickname Gentle Johnny because he never used violence. And he escaped from prison several times, even staging a rooftop protest at Barlinnie in 1931. Johnny was what you would call now a career criminal, his life of crime saw him spend an estimated 40 years in prison, which was only punctuated by his extraordinary service during the Second World War.
When the war started he wanted to contribute something. He went to the governor of Peterhead Prison, where he was being held at the time, and asked for help to join the forces after he got out. The governor recognised he was something special and that he could be extremely helpful to our secret services. He served his full sentence and was collected by MI5 agents at the gate.
Ramensky was known for his athleticism and aced basic military training before he was parachuted behind enemy lines in Nazi-occupied Europe. One early success was at the Italian port city La Spezia.
Johnny was able to hide himself in the mountains and used a compass to direct RAF bombers to the harbour. He was also a smashing saboteur and blew up a lot of railway lines. And after the Germans fled Rome, Johnny was able to recover a huge volume of secret documents from locked safes, which were very helpful in the conclusion of the war.
Ramensky also spent time in North Africa and almost had the opportunity to kill Nazi military commander Erwin Rommel. He broke into Rommel’s headquarters and unfortunately Rommel was on the front line. Had Rommel been there the course of the war would have changed because he would have been prepared to kill him. Of course, he did also break into Rommel’s safe and got plans that were helpful.
Mr.Ramensky’s wartime exploits formed the basis of the 1958 film ‘The Safecracker’, starring Mr.Ray Milland.
After the war Johnny went back to his old ways, even jumping off the train to blow open a safe on the way back to Glasgow hours after he was demobbed. . He went to blow a safe at a bank in York because his criminal contacts tipped him off. He has been described as an adrenaline addict. He seemed to like danger.
When he got back to Glasgow he became a folk hero because people had heard about his exploits in the army. Various people offered him employment, including one of the big demolition companies. But that wasn’t exciting enough for him.
Even in his declining years when his physicality began to leave him he still couldn’t settle down. He tried to be a bookie but lost all of his own money, because he was a gambler. He never really went straight.
Ramensky died aged 67 in 1972 while a prisoner in Perth. He kept diaries which were burned by prison authorities, but one early extract survived.
It read: “Each man has an ambition and I have fulfilled mine long ago. I cherish my career as a safe blower. In childhood days my feet were planted in the crooked path and took firm root. To each one of us is allotted a niche and I have found mine. Strangely enough, I am happy. For me the die is cast and there is no turning back.”
There has been talk a fmovie about Johnny being made, but it is still to happen.
There’s a 7 minute film bout Johnny with the author of his biography, Robert Jeffrey, who I sourced most of the info for this post, and retired Glesga polisman, Les Brown, who tells of his dealings with Gentle Johnny. The Roddy McMillan song is playing throughout the clip.
That’s not the end of Johnny Gently though, he lives on at Peterhead Prison, now a museum where Ramensky served so many years behind bars, has created a exhibition space which highlights different aspects of his career.
You can get his biography by Robert Jeffrey for only £3.39, kindle version and £5.56 hardback at Amazon, I have also seen it on Ebay uk delivered for as low as £2.11
Let Ramensky Go.
There was a lad in Glesga town, Ramensky was his name
Johnny didnae know it then but he was set for fame
Now Johnny was a gentle lad, there was only one thing wrong
He had an itch to strike it rich and trouble came along
He did a wee bit job or two, he blew them open wide
But they caught him and they tried him and they bunged him right inside
Alley-ee alley-ay alley-oo alley-oh
Open up your prison gates
And let Ramensky go
And when they let him out he said he’d do his best but then
He yielded tae temptation and they bunged him in again
Now Johnny made the headlines, entertained the boys below
When he climbed up tae the prison roof and gave a one-man show
Alley-ee alley-ay alley-oo alley-oh
Open up your prison gates
And let Ramensky go
But when the war was raging the brass-hats had a plan
Tae purloin some information, but they couldnae find a man
So they nobbled John in prison, asked if he would take a chance
Then they dropped him in a parachute beyond the coast of France
Alley-ee alley-ay alley-oo alley-oh
Open up your prison gates
And let Ramensky go
Then Johnny was a hero, they shook him by the hand
For stealing secret documents frae the German High Command
So Johnny was rewarded for the job he did sae well
They granted him a pardon frae the prison and the cell
Alley-ee alley-ay alley-oo alley-oh
Open up your prison gates
And let Ramensky go
But Johnny was in error when he tried his hand once more
For they caught him at a blastin’, and it wasnae worth the score
The jury pled for mercy, but the judge’s voice was heard
Ten years without remission, and that’s my final word
Ten years, my lord, that’s far too long, wee Johnny cried in vain
For if you send me up for ten I’ll never come out again
Oh give me another chance, my lord, I’m tellin’ you no lie
But if you send me up for ten I’ll sicken and I’ll die
Alley-ee alley-ay alley-oo alley-oh
Open up your prison gates
And let Ramensky go
Now Peterhead’s a fortress, its walls are thick and stout
But it couldnae hold wee Johnny when he felt like walking out
Five times he took a powder, he left them in a fix
And every day they sweat and pray in case he makes it six
Alley-ee alley-ay alley-oo alley-oh
Open up your prison gates
And let Ramensky go
Alley-ee alley-ay alley-oo alley-oh
Open up your prison gates
And let Ramensky go
Alley-ee alley-ay alley-oo alley-oh
Open up your prison gates
And let Ramensky go………

Sometimes it's just better (not to know).
Chapter two: Killed by uncertainty
Lucy Carlyle x gn! Reader
Summary: Is this supposed to be the calm before the storm?
Warnings: not much, maybe a nap that lasts too long lmao
Word Count: 950
Tumblr media
Your boots are too tight. You don’t like them one bit, but you had made the decision to buy new ones for cold winter nights -with equally cold Visitors-, and now you have to live with rock solid shoes, at least until they soften a little with use.
Your rapier is in place in your belt, and so are your salt bombs and greek flares. You had -against Anthony’s wishes for the team to take a week-long break- decided to take back your verdict on the Geralds case.
You had just gotten out of the library, a while after the reading that ruined your morning (and maybe your life too), all puffy eyes and incoming migraine, when you bumped into George.
-
“Have you already called the client?”
There was a frown forming on his face, “I was just about to do that.” He held up the folder where you assume he must have had the contact number. He seemed impatient and irritated, you didn’t blame him.
“Don’t bother, we are going tonight, as scheduled.”
His grimace was replaced by a look of surprise, but he covered it quickly and turned around to head to the basement.
You went right up the stairs and flopped on your bed. You didn’t notice Lucy in the corner of the room until you heard her speak (for a second there you thought she would actually be feeding Skull biscuits, just out of spite). “What was all that about?”
Startled, you turned around and held your body up in your elbows.
“Nothing. I was wrong. We’ll do the Geralds’ case tonight, as planned, so we better start preparing in a little bit.”
“You sound like you’ve been crying.” She stated, simply.
“Allergies, you know how much dust there is in the library. I was just talking to Lockwood about a new brand of salt bombs that seems to be more effective in dissipating ectoplasm.”
“Love, we make our own salt bombs.” She caught up on your bullshit too fast.
“Did I say salt bombs? I ment flares- greek fires. Remember the other day and how that cold maiden didn’t react to our usual ones?”
Lucy walked closer to the bed, she kneeled beside it to be the same height as your face. Her calloused fingers found their way to your cheeks. “You know you can talk to me. About anything.”
You leaned into the touch, closed your eyes, and tried to enjoy the moment. “I know. I’m gonna take a 30 minute nap, and then help you with the chains.” You took her hands in yours, pulled her a little bit. “Wanna join me?”
She rolled her eyes but laid down with you until you fell asleep.
-
“Should I go wake them? There is only a few hours till sundown.”
“No, let them rest. I’ll get their chores, what was it? Snack packing?”
“Chain oiling.” The pair headed to the office to get the duffel bags prepared. “What happened today? They were so out of themselves, I’ve never seen them like this.”
“It was just a rough night. Believe me, this happens more than you’d think. A beauty nap is all it takes for them to get back to normal.” Even as Lockwood said this, he didn’t seem convinced. “That is assuming we don’t get their post-nap grumpy mood. I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy.” He chuckled lightly.
Lucy’s lips twitched, right about to form a smile, but she noticed her friend was avoiding answering the question. She knew how closed off you Lockwoods’ could be; after all, it took a year for Anthony to show her the room on the landing, and two years and a half for you to admit your feelings for her, but she wished it wasn’t so difficult to get some actual information. The team was founded on trust, and survival depended on how well you communicated with each other goddammit.
-
What was supposed to be a half hour nap turned into an I-have-only-forty-minutes-left-to-prepare-for-the-case-’cause-I-slept-six-hours-non-stop nap, which was quite inconvenient. Still, you managed to get ready, apologize for the lack of help on the iron chain department, and chug up half a liter of water on one go, before getting into the waiting night cab.
This is fine, and your boots don’t bother you, and neither does the little tag on the neck of your shirt that you forgot to cut out (again), or the judgy stares you are receiving from George, or the worried ones from your cousin, or the feeling that very soon everything will end. You are perfectly fine, and this is just another day on the job.
From the moment you get to the house, to the moment you emerge from it, everything goes smoothly. The source is easy enough to find, and the Visitor turns out to be a weak type one, not the type two you were expecting. The client paid full price anyway, and the team got back safe and sound.
It was all perfect. And that was alright. More than alright, actually, it was marvelous, but something felt wrong. You knew there was something about to happen. You wouldn’t admit it, but you wish it had been a rawbones or an impromptu cluster, the Geralds’ case that is. It would have been a pain in the ass, that’s for sure, but you had already gotten out alive from situations like that, and such a vile set of apparitions would have fulfilled the readings’ prophecy. Maybe.
The anticipation that had started in your chest was unbearable. You wanted to get it over with as soon as possible, but still, you felt it wasn’t going to be that easy. It never was.

A/N: I would love to hear (read) what you think! Hope you enjoyed :)
This story is lowkey stuck, but just because I finished The Creeping Shadow like a month ago, and I haven't started The Empty Grave cause I'm in denial, I don't want to finish the series T-T

Hello! In a post you reblogged about replicated VS home-cooked food aboard the Enterprise, you mentioned in the tags you were more focused on "weaponising the 3D chess sets" rather than the food, could you explain a bit about what that was about? Where I live it's been pretty hard to get ahold of the star trek books, so sad to say I haven't read any and I'm very curious
…Ah.
In My Enemy, My Ally, the niece of the Romulan commander from “The Enterprise Incident” approaches James T. Kirk with an unusual request. To stop an extremely nasty Romulan government plot against the Vulcans, she needs to (apparently/seem to) capture the Enterprise.
…Unlikely as this may initially seem, her reasons are most compelling; so Kirk agrees, and the plan goes forward. However, as usual, no battle plan long survives contact with reality… and this one goes wrong due to treachery from an unexpected source. The Enterprise crew are therefore forced to defend the ship from being commandeered by employing… some unexpected measures of their own.
Early in the book it’s established that the newest generation of 3D chess infrastructure (updated to ”chess cubics”—full 64-square boards stacked three or four deep) involves using very small-scale, precisely focused transporter technology to move pieces around inside the cubic. It occurs to the extremely resourceful Chief of Recreation that this transporter functionality could, with some work, be used to transport other things around a ship that was being occupied by suddenly-unfriendly forces.
Like grenades. …As a result, shit rapidly starts going down. (Well, *more* shit.) 😏
…This is just another example of how it can be most unwise to leave me for too long in the (real, virtual, or creative) neighborhood of common household items if I’m feeling that I, someone I love, or (in slightly different modes of the latter) a character or characters I’m working with is/are being threatened. I’m potentially a dreadfully violent person, and I will find creative offensive uses for just about anything around me…because you can never tell when you might need a weapon, y’know?
(For example: Eavesdropping on various conversations between me and @petermorwood regarding the usefulness of commonplace kitchen gadgets to supervillains for the torture of troublesome secret agents would really open your eyes. You’d sure as hell not look at some tools used on softboiled eggs the same way ever again, I can tell you that.) 😄
…It’s just the local version of “Fortune favors the prepared mind.” And I prefer to be prepared.*
Anyway: HTH. 😀
*No, I never did Scouting. I was 4-H.

For the Platonic Yandere Gargoyles AU, if Reader is Elisa's ward from the first post I made, I wonder what would happen if Xanatos caught wind of it, and decided to get to know Reader... And after getting to know them, let's say he would potentially try to have a custody battle over them, and that would NOT be pretty.
Reader can choose who they want to be with, yes (I'm going with Reader is a teen, so they have to have a legal guardian). But Xanatos has money, connections, and can make the lives of everyone else hard or downright awful, if he wanted. Elisa can possibly catch him in another crime, but he wouldn't be held for long, and the cycle would start again. So, what does Reader suggest?
Split custody.
It isn't a perfect solution. But it leaves no room for argument. David and Elisa won't have to fight it out, and Reader doesn't have to feel pressured (or worry if they're about to earn the wrath of anyone). (Reader wouldn't, no, never, but they survived a horrible crime or witnessed one, so they're imagining everyone as a possible enemy, even if they like them).
Begrudingly, Elisa settles for it. It's the only solution that won't leave Reader without a guardian or take them away from her completely. Xanatos plays it off, but for all anyone knows, he planned for this scenario. And Reader is now dealing with two guardians who do not like each other, but only try to show their best side to Reader...
Elisa is pretty good as a guardian. Making sure Reader takes their online/homeschool classes (due to what happened to Reader, it was decided that kind of education might be best), letting Reader sometimes go with her to different parts of Manhattan, getting Reader and the gargoyles to be friends, even teaching Reader how to cook... Not to mention she encourages them to follow any hobbies they have, especially if those hobbies might relieve some of their trauma. She's kept a lot of things she does secret from them... Such as studying the crime that involved them, and her investigation of any clues or leads to the criminal/s who did it... Watching Reader every now and again when they sleep, because she worries about them, especially when they talk in their sleep, begging someone to not do something, to not hurt them... If she tells the gargoyles about it, it isn't hurting Reader, and the faster they catch who did this to them, the faster Reader won't have to live in constant fear. It doesn't escape her notice how they pull away from contact, the panic when they fear they've done something wrong, the wariness in their eyes and posture, like a wounded animal trying to appear brave... She likes them. They're a good kid in her eyes, who was dealt too heavy a hand. And when Reader finally trusts her enough to tell her their story, what really happened to them... she let's them squeeze her hand as tight as they need, and is pulling them into a hug once they're done. She's glad to have earned their trust, at least enough of it that they'd tell her this... And if she decides that Reader is safer being with some of the gargoyles while she's busy at night, then it's just being a good guardian, a good friend, a good parent...
Xanatos likely only wanted Reader at first because they were someone Elisa cared about. Then because he found out the gargoyles were becoming friends with them. Being Xanatos, he had many, many plans to get on their good side, to sway their favor, to win them over... And each one... fails. It's almost funny, how Reader seems to see through him, seems to know when he's trying to pull one of his tricks in front of them. And he likes that. That it isn't easy, to get them on his side. Xanatos likes a challenge, and if Reader is someone who doesn't fall for his plans... that makes them that much more worth it to him. Except... getting to know them, he grows slightly... attached. They're not easy to extract information from. What he can tell is they don't trust anyone, not completely. No one. Not even Elisa, or even the gargoyles. He's tried to twist that in his favor, and used it against them... But even they're aware of it, and to them, they're in the same boat as him: trying to get Reader to trust them, more than just the barest crumbs of it. Perhaps Reader is talented with something: painting, music, poetry, even being sly... That only adds to his interest, only makes him want them as a ward, perhaps an ally... Trying to pry them from Elisa, though, proves difficult. Not impossible, no. But he does want them to like him, and that won't happen if he rips them from the only guardian they have. But then they come to the conclusion he had already reached: Why not let BOTH of them be their guardians? It wouldn't hurt. And it gives him the time to prove himself a capable friend, if not a possible... parent...
This is not to mention Goliath, who also wants a chance at being Reader's guardian, and is trying to find a way to help them feel safer around him and his clan... And once he knows Xanatos wants them, is getting involved...
Thus begins a three-way battle for the custody of Reader, who is praying to the heavens and whoever/whatever is listening to calm down the... care? of these adults... At least they're all friendly so far...?
Part One: Reader and Elisa...

okay i've been thinking a lot about the rat grinders (abbreviated as rgs) and here are my ideas on the different roles they could have this season and an analysis of their appearance so far (putting this under a read more bc it got long)
major antagonists - the rat grinders are directly involved/responsible for whatever the big bad is this season. something like they are causing the quangles in order to get aguefort to leave school and take over w/ Grix to change everything to be hyper rules oriented in order to fuck over the bad kids or take over the world or whatever the big bad actually ends up being. quite frankly, i don't think this is at all likely and it wouldn't make for a very good story imo
minor antagonists - not directly in league w bb but indirectly a part of the problem. one theory i've seen around is they have somehow reprorammed grix (potentially with henry the artificer teacher who has the same last name as the rg bard) and are trying to change the school bc they are fed up w agueforts loosey-goosey ness (this is mainly based on kipperlilly) and they tangentially aid the big bad by doing this as well. i think this is more likely and could be good depending on how it unfolds
antagonistic but not antagonists - feud stays purely in the academic/school life. the rgs maybe show up the bad kids a little, do better than them in classes or at sports, take some of the wind out of their popularity (like at this now abandoned party), maybe kipperlilly even wins pres - but it's not deeper than just being the school worsties of the bad kids
reluctant allies - kind of plays off previous; rgs and bad kids end up having to work together at various points and even battle together (maybe for like the big finale battle) bc they can recognize that saving the world id more important than their school feud
genuine understanding - also plays off previous two; interactions lead to interpersonal conflict at first but through being forced to work and battle together they each begin to see that there is more to the other. bad kids acknowledge that rgs have a lot of raw skill and strength in their own right (as already evidenced by mary ann's athletics and kipperlilly's inplied rogue abilities) and that it takes a lot of dedication and (especially) discipline to work as a party killing rats for three hours every day. rgs acknowledge that large-scale adventuring requires a certain loose attitude for the "rules" and that having being specifically subject to arthur aguefort's chaos may not necessarily be a good thing
now, narratively speaking, i think the rat grinders as a party will have immense specific strength and skills, but will not be prepared for more "real" life or death battles. improvisation really is the better part of planning (thanks calroy) and a plan never survives first contact with the enemy, but they likely have not needed to create complex, or on the fly plans, or improvise when the bad guy throws out some insane shit, while simply killing tens of thousands of rats, spiders, and tree gremlins. none of those beasts would have taught them how to practically deal with ranged weapon attacks or any kind of spell attack, and i could also see them not being the best with playing to each others strengths and covering each others' weaknesses due to the sheer monotony of only ever battling the exact same creatures. i'd also be surprised if they have any experience at all with genuinely dying and having to be revived or even with going into unconsciousness. i do think classes go over that kind of thing but learning the theory of something and then actually having to apply it under pressure are two radically different experiences.
one thing that could complicate this is that the rgs have recently gotten a new cleric party member, who we know is a transfer from highcourt, helioic, and loved by kristen's parents (as an aside, this is going to be so juicy and cause so much conflict w kristen, i'm so excited). clerics are pretty vital for parties going on intense adventures, being the strongest healers of the group, so there are two ways i see a cleric introduction as having to occur. one, is that the rgs have never had a cleric and spending your days killing low level creatures likely does not create much in the way of life threatening scenarios or injuries a long rest couldn't heal. and now that they feel they're strong enough, they want to move to more extreme adventures and feel they need a cleric to make it work
however, option two is that the rgs did have a cleric, and that at some point their cleric fully died. as we've learned, parties who have a member die immediately go on pass/fail and don't have to do a yearly project. if this happened to the rgs last year (or maybe even their first year, i forget if the pass/fail was only through the year or not) they would not have had to do the sophomore year project, and it would explain how they've manages to keep only killing low level creatures. also, this could be especially narratively significant, because, the bad kids had party members die on their very first day of school, one of which was their cleric kristen. they were only revived by aguefort committing ritualistic murder-suicide to bring them back to life. this could definitely read as preferential treatment from aguefort, even though the bad kids could have been anyone and aguefort was just doing his own plan to sneak into heaven and stop being poisoned. a dead cleric would be another level of parallel the rgs would have with the bad kids and could be an aspect of their resentment.
on a more meta/symbolic level, i feel like the rgs, and in particular kipperlilly and her campaign spiel, are representative of an intensely regimented, regulated education system where everyone must do the exact same things, get the exact same help, and all be measured on the exact same axes of success, in a very standardized testing kind of way. now, abstractly, in a vacuum, in a perfect world, this is fine; this is equal treatment under the rules. but the realities on life and people are messy and complex. there's any number of reasons why someone might need more help, different accommodations, and be measured on a different metric of success than someone else and none of it makes it preferential treatment; it's just that everyone has different needs. the solution should always be more diversity in accessibility, not less.
and to bring it back to the narrative, we've been told that adventurers, and by extension the students of the adventuring academy, are basically vigilantes doing, uh, extralegal vigilantism. a regimented system based on grinding out experience by killing rats in the woods would in no way produce successful adventurers, just like really strong exterminators. the things the bad kids have gotten in trouble doing are things it has been explicitly said they are supposed to be doing ad burgeoning adventurers, and the only reason they got in trouble in the first place and weren't allowed to do their thing solving mysteries (as presumably, many many parties before them have done) was because aguefort was missing. even when adaine was kidnapped by fallinel, the school protections she invoked protects all of aguefort's students. we have heard many times that students throughout the adventuring academy's history have been encouraged to act as the extralegal vigilantes they are training to be, and haven't seen anything that suggest it's only been selectively applied to favorites
ultimately, i hope that the realization develops that the school has been failing both the rat grinders and the bad kids. we haven't seen a lot of the rat grinders but based on kipperlilly's complaints i think it would be a failure in a lack support in helping the students find their own adventures (as opposed to just keeping on going killing rats in the woods) and/or a lack of protection for when they bite off more than they could chew (if they did in fact have a cleric who died). for the bad kids, it would be a lack of support and accommodation for when you do find a big adventure and can't keep up with schoolwork, a failure to recognize and interfere when you see students struggling before it reaches a critical breaking point (kristen and fig being close to expulsion), a lack of support wrt university funds/scholarship or required school supplies funding (riz and adaine), a refusal to recognize when students exceed in ways outside of the typical curriculum (gorgug and fabian).
the enemy is the system, not your fellow classmates

•“What If?”↓
“What if the Mukami Brothers had never met?”↓
(and Karlheinz wouldn't have adopt them)
•Delicate content!!!•: I'm here to show you one of my “What If's”, this time about a question I asked myself a long time ago. This are just my ideas briefly explained (Images with description)»→ .
“The chaos in the human world was at its height, and life was a challenge of survival which few survived”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Different lives in one place. There is no trace or record of what they could have been. They do not share a last name, or do they know each other. They only share a corrupt and evil human world. They are humans, they are mortals. »»» →
•RUKI: Somehow or another, he managed to escape from the orphanage on his own. Due to his intelligence, cunning, certain studies and knowledge, he was able to develop in society and survive, until he became a man of high society again, however, many still rejected/hated him.
•Explanation of his possible life: Ruki was an aristocrat, had a certain level of studies and knew how to function. It is likely that once he escaped from the orphanage (alone, due to some master plan he may have made) he would have looked for the remains of his inheritance, family, contacts, etc. As mentioned, he was well educated and cunning, so he would know how to get himself ahead. He wouldn't change the way as we know him, or maybe a little bit, he would be more spiteful and darker. Due to not knowing Kou, Yuma and Azusa's brotherly love, he definitely wouldn't see light in the world easily. That's how he forged himself as an adult, in an iron hand and finally got what had been taken from him. But, since he had to play dirty to get it back, he made a lot of enemies along the way, both high-society people and low-society people. He never had a real ally. Someone to call "family" * Loyalty didn't exist and anyone was capable of committing any sin in order to obtain power. For this reason, one afternoon in his office, one of his relatives betrayed him, attacking him from behind. Leaving a bloody scene and a lifeless corpse.
=He died for betrayal/assassinated.=
•(Lived to adulthood (30-40 years old))
*(I think that Ruki came to think about getting married and having a family, the typical life plan of the time, besides that it was vital to maintain your lineage if you were a noble, but I feel that even if he had the desire, he couldn't get it, for the same reason that he was very demanding and never gave himself to the task 100% of committing to someone, for being involved in other matters) +
Tumblr media
•KOU: sold to a millionaire, living his youth between luxuries and riches, in a life without freedom, just abuse. Worn only as a living accessory.
•Explanation of this possible life: For this, I have a long writing (a OneShot), where I narrate in more detail, but in summary: He would continue to be sold to the nobles and aristocrats. Thus, until her early adolescence, since the final purchase was from a man (widower) and his lover, for a high amount that they said was “what his beauty was worth”. Apparently Kou lived "better" than where he was before, but in reality he just kept getting used. Although they gave him fine clothes, food was never lacking on his plate and they sought his beauty with imported products, he was never free from being nothing more than an ornament of that old mansion. The center of attention of great evenings of rich, powerful and sometimes also vulgar people. Withstanding the aroma of alcohol and tobacco. Enduring the feel of stranger's hands on him. He had to give himself to receive his reward, though... Was it worth it? Was there even a real reward? He was selling himself to be able to live, although that way of living no longer made sense to him. If that was his life, then he didn't want it anymore. It was a prison of gold, nothing more. He cursed his beauty every night in front of the broken mirror. So one day, he took the shards of it to cut his skin (reliving the memory of when he gouged out his eye) More and more he lost blood. But his final cause of death was another: as he always admired that blue sky he saw at the end of the tunnel, synonymous of freedom, he wanted to see it one last time. So he went out on the balcony and fell from it. His eye were in the sky and the sky in his eye... perfectly matched. It was only a matter of seconds to crash to the ground.
=Died by suicide.=
(Lived to adolescence (17-19 years old))
Note: No Karlheinz, no magic eye. So Kou here only has a black hole where his bluish eye used to reside. He covered it with his characteristic bangs, but also with accessories that they gave him (such as patches, hats, ribbons, etc.) Due to morbidity, this detail of his face was an attraction among his buyers, always asking him to uncover his eye (or simply not they asked permission and uncovered him for themselves) +
Tumblr media
•YUMA: Somehow or another, he managed to escape from the orphanage on his own. He was weak, but he has resistance, so he survived. He grew up with courage, and resentment towards the nobles, seeing that they were to blame for all his personal misfortunes and his loved ones. For that, he joined a revolt/revolution.
•Explanation of his possible life: Perhaps he will have lost his memory, he will not remember his past life but his survival instincts were still intact. His body and mind knew how to react to danger and how to adapt. Therefore, he managed to escape on his own from the orphanage. But once he got out, he found himself in a world more chaotic than he remembered. He stole to eat and dress. He grew up with a grudge against the nobles. They always had all the luxury while their people starved in the streets full of violence. Injustice after another injustice. That's why he joined each revolt. Gang member and rebel. With a revolutionary spirit. Thus he grew up to be one of the main leaders of great revolts against the corrupt government (still following the dream of his old childhood gang. Not forgetting the leader of this, his old friend "Boss"). But the day came when he heard about a certain Ruki, he was one of his enemies (once he knew more about the aforementioned, he personally detested him, because of his arrogance and coldness, he was the type of aristocrat he hated) and he had to overthrow him, strip him of his power if he wanted to start a change. Unfortunately for trying, one night he fell into an ambush and was shot multiple times. So he fell to the ground to get up no more. Only his allies were the ones who watched over his death. But with his death, the war was beginning.
=Died from multiple gunshots.=
•(Lived to adulthood (30-35 years old)) +
Tumblr media
•AZUSA: Without anyone or anything, his spirits were so dull and dull that he didn't want to live anymore. Still, he didn't dare to kill himself even though he wanted to. Simply, he would not have passed from childhood.
•Explanation of his possible life: Realistically, he was a fragile child. He didn't have a good diet. He lived in precarious conditions. And the issue of having wounds on his arms, it didn't help. He would have ended up in the orphanage and once there, he would live his last days in there. He always wondered many things, questions of an innocent curious child, but above all "Why is the world so cruel?" "Why am I so miserable?". He prayed to God that he would soon be taken from there, from that world. And the wait was not long, as an infection entered one of his wounds, due to the poor hygiene of the place. That, adding to the fact that his immune system was not the best, was that little by little he got sick and sick. Coughing frequently, feeling chills, among other symptoms such as his skin beginning to wither. Until one day, he just slumped to the wet concrete floor and felt weak every second, slowly closing his eyelids. His body went cold and his sighs were weak. It was like that until he couldn't stay awake anymore and he died (I think he would have died with his eyes half open). The orphanage took a long time to realize that he was dead, they even had to kick his corpse a little to know if he really was. After this, they took his body out of the place as if it were trash.
=He died due to poor health.=
•(He only lived his childhood (8-10 years old))
Note: Whether we are talking about the 17th-19th centuries in which he lived, the infant mortality rate was high in those times. Passing childhood was a miracle. But Azusa, I think he would be one of those children who wouldn't be lucky.

Once upon a time, there was a flock of sheeps living together in a tainted land, solidarily and happily. Each and every sheep had its own pride, and the leader was the proudest, bravest and strongest of all. Those names were known and feared by many, and their bond was believed to be unbreakable. They all, as a whole, could be seen as a kingdom with a loved king.
Amongst the sheeps, only the leader had the golden bell attached to the collar around his neck. That very bell, shiny yet marred, had an echoeing sound in which the followers were more than familiar with. They loved it when they tug on their general's collar and actions were taken almost immediately. Therefore it was not only a ruler, but also the spear and shield of the herd. Whenever the bell rang, every single sheep would know that a command was being delivered to them, and everytime the clapper made contact with its body, the leader would be ensured that itself - was a leader.
One day, the ringing stopped. And at the same time, some sheeps were abducted by the wolves - their lifetime enemies. Those malice, blood-thirst creatures had showed up and attacked their kingdom, taking away their friends but the leader was nowhere to be seen. Where was it when its kin needed it the most? Frantic, some escaped into the forest and searched for their general, bleating out its name in desperation.
"Mister mister bellwether, where have you gone?
Leaving us all here, waiting all night long?"
There it was, deep inside the wood, that tampered bell, they finally found it! Not knowning the small glimpse of hope would soon be extinguished right before their eyes.
"Mister mister bellwether, what are you on?
Was it the fear, or panic? Unsure what we were doubting on
Or did we really see you with a wolf getting along?"
Indeed, there it was, with a wolf.
The sheeps refused to digest that their leader had betrayed them. So in disbelief, they kept silence and let things went by as always, then made a plan to eliminate the bell-wielding king of theirs. They did not ackowledge the general's effort made to save the whole community, as a result, the king was brutally assassinated and hunted until it had cut chase. Meanwhile, the sheeps chose to join in another herd instead.
The banished king, on the other hand, survived thanks to the wolves. But in the end, the bell was still on its neck and it was the only one that had ever had a collar.
.
.
If only that had simply been a dark fairytale in a closed book. Chuuya need not wake up from any nightmare that screamed his betrayal, neither did he wish to be enlightened about the reality that he once lived in: He was but a bellwether, devoured by his own kin.
His loyalty is an everlasting monument, flawlessly sculpted by the finest carver that could be found. But because of that, the lingering loss haunted him, grasping his heart until his veins want to explode from the pent up guilt.
"I was awoken in a vast field. The gentle breeze carried the faint scent of daisies along with the rhythm of calm waves by the shore. However, the grass was oddly cold."
Were he to meet his end that day by the sudden stab, he would never have to witness his old friends' tragic fate. Death, it came so swiftly, snatching away life as if it was a feather. He could possibly take his last breath with a heavy chest, but no, he did not do so. He wasn't facing the same herd that he knew when on verge of death, he was facing the shadow of Baphomet.
"I realized where I was - a sea of tombs. The ground felt like grass floating in place, but it's still water. An ocean that smelled blood and jewels, unlike the refreshing one of Yokohama city. It was a tank that bore loss and betrayal, never evaporating, not even when moss started crawling all over the surface. There was also a man inside of it, and that man was me."
That was his punishment, he believed, for failing to protect his loved ones. The shadow persisted him, whereas he would be met by a sheep's skull dressed in a cloak, it was the king from the story. He was ditched and turned into a "wolf", and there's a wolf facing a sheep, right inside of his mind's battlefield. Does it mean his statue of faith had fallen?
The answer is no.
He never betrayed the Sheep, Chuuya understands that so profoundly. He chose to trust again, he knew, even when it meant he would have to go through traumatic betrayals once more.
To him, nothing worths more than faith when he had a home to return to.
Chuuya was no longer a king, but he would always be the king.
The king of himself, of his own reflection that put the forsaken fairytale on replay. Brutal to others including him, just as he was taught. He figured, the first person whom he should rule was no one else but him.
He broke free from the collar that was tugged on so many times before. Nonetheless refused to destroy it, he instead saw it as a piece of precious memory.
Because in the end, it would always be the one that he bet his life to trust that left.
And Chuuya Nakahara, he must devour others to survive.
--------------------
Author's note: I wrote this drabble at 1:30 in the morning and I'm feeling like I'm on drugs 💀 I'm definitely not saying that I'm obssessed with Chuuya and the Sheep ordeal. *cries*

The Mechanisms of Gojo's Defeat
Tumblr media
It's been over a week since the formerly Strongest sorcerer got cut in two but how exactly did that happen? The fight Gojo vs Sukuna had been full of technicalities and showcased JJK's power system in all its glory but it wasn't exactly easy to understand even if you paid good attention while reading the manga.
First, Sukuna's vast knowledge of Jujutsu and cursed techniques. He correctly deduced that Yorozu would fall back on her constructed metal to perform an ultimate attack because her CE consumption is unbelievably high. Still, with one month of preparation and Kenjaku on his side, Sukuna was not able to think of an effective way to deal with Infinity.
He fell back on: the sure-hit of a Domain Expansion, the cool-down period of CTs after an expansion and Domain Amplification. The sure-hit was cancelled by Gojo's sure-hit, the cool-down period was drastically shortened with brain destruction, and DA, while effective in nullifying Infinity, did not leave room for aggressive attacks.
With all of this considered, Sukuna put his fight plan against Gojo on 1) winning a Domain Battle 2) Mahoraga 3) learning an effective attack against Gojo from Mahoraga. In the end, he needed this 3-fold plan to win but from what we know, he could've chosen a different path as well.
Tumblr media
Mahoraga's adaptation works by starting after an enemy hit. When the wheel turns, the adaptation is in so much complete that Maho can now nullify or become immune to the enemy's CT. The process of the adaptation never truly stops though, as long as the enemy isn't defeated.
Mahoraga finds more and more ways to circumvent the CT it adapted to by evolving the adaptation. This process gets sped up the more it gets in contact with that same CT. At the end, Maho used 2 different ways to deal with Infinity.
By changing the properties of its Cursed Energy. This adaptation is not something that Sukuna can emulate
By evolving Sukuna's long-range attack. Instead of infusing that attack with the changed CE, Mahoraga expanded the target of the attack.
The second adaptation was the one that Sukuna - barely - was able to learn and use on his own.
Tumblr media
(For the last half year, I've been writing a jjk/fire force crossover and of course I've thought about FF characters fighting against Gojo and if they could win. My conclusion: both Shinra and Sho Kusakabe can circumvent Infinity with their 4th generation pyrokinetic ignition ability. Sho by stopping time and Shinra by reforming his molecules at the point of impact with Gojo's body)
In addition to learning this evolved technique, Sukuna also made a positive miscalculation in chapter 234. There, he said that another Hollow Purple attack will be the end of him. This tidbit fooled the readers into thinking that at the end of ch235, Gojo truly won.
But actually, Sukuna made an error in his assessment that we could've caught before the release of ch236.
The first HP that Sukuna survived was at 200% power. Sukuna however thought that it was at 120%. In other words, he overestimated Gojo's power and wrongfully thought that he won't survive a second one of that. That was why he was so panicked when Gojo shot Red at Blue.
In numbers: let's say that Gojo's base HP attack is 100 points. His assisted attack by Gramps and Utahime was 200p. Sukuna thought that the 200p were 120% of Gojo's power, so his base HP attack would've been an overestimated 167p. Sukuna expected the next HP to have 200p again but it was only 120p, 67% weaker.
We could've actually caught this disparity when Sukuna made his miscalculation. I remember thinking how Sukuna hadn't realised that Gojo had help in the beginning but I didn't put more thought into it because I didn't think that there would be more. Huge mistake there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The very last part in Gojo's defeat is about Gojo not reinforcing his body.
We had already seen Gojo survive Sukuna's slashing attacks, either by normal CE reinforcement (with moderate damage that he had to heal constantly) or with Falling Blossom Emotion that reduced the damage to a minimum.
With Infinity active, Mahoraga dead and Sukuna looking like he was defeated, Gojo didn't bother with reinforcing his body at that point. What did he have to fear without Mahoraga? He probably even saw Sukuna's attack and maybe he would've dodged or activated FBE if the cut had been aimed at his throat.
He didn't do anything and now his guts have made a painting on the ground.
Still, with the way Gojo was characterized in ch236 and how ch237 has omitted any reaction others should've had on Gojo's supposed death, I'm still of the opinion that our favorite teacher will come back.

Did you maybe get a chance to develop an idea for your Rogue Trader? What are they like? And, perhaps most importantly, how do they get along with the members of their retinue? 😊
I am so glad you enjoy the game, hope you have a great day!! 💜
Thank you for enabling me! 💜
god this game is giving me hella brainworms, so apologies in advance for how long this got!
His name is Mago Vanth, though he goes exclusively by his surname and has for a while now. It's a bit awkward with his fancy new surname tacked onto it (all those v's), but so is he, so.... XD
Crime lord background. Lawful neutral. Loyal to his people (crew/gang/etc) and nothing else. Ruthless when necessary. Fast talking. Pragmatic (until he's not). He has a talent for people and synthesizing information/perspectives. Good at tactics, bad at combat (he's gonna give Abelard a heart attack one of these fights). Be gay do crimes.
He was born in a hive world slum. Orphaned at 9 after his mother got sucked into a chaos cult and tried to sacrifice him and his sibling. Started his life of crime young and by his late 20s he was running a successful gang. Unfortunately the leaders of the larger syndicate that his gang was part of ALSO got involved in some Chaos shit, and Vanth was arrested as part of the investigation/crackdown.
I went with Shadow of Torment from the 'Darkest Hour' section of character creation ("You were arrested and thoroughly interrogated using creative and violent methods."), so.... yeah. He claims he lost his eye in a fight, but in reality it was a result of the interrogation.
He (barely) survives and manages to escape, but by that point he is a complete wreck and everyone he knows/cares about is dead, arrested or wants *him* dead for betraying them. So he runs, as far towards the outer rim (or whatever the in-universe equivalent is) as the money in his bailout stash will get him and begins the process of trying to piece himself and his life back together.
8? 10? years later, he's clawed his way up to being the leader of a successful smuggling syndicate (not huge, but a respectable size) when he gets press-ganged into the Von Valencias dynasty.
He's spent his whole life living/working outside of (and often in conflict with) the establishment. And now he IS the establishment and it's killing him. More than that, though, it's the title that he's really struggling with. Heinrix has that line at the beginning of Act 2, something about if you land on Footfall incognito it will be your last chance to be treated like a person -- and like, he means it in a subterfuge/reconnaissance way, not a existential way, but it's still very much true in an existential way. Vanth isn't a person anymore, he's a title, and it's terrifyingly isolating and lonely and he has no idea how to navigate it.
The only thing that is keeping him from drowning completely is a) he is very good at people, and b) he has never known stability in his entire life and is a firm believer in "no plan survives contact with the enemy" so he is very adept at improvising/adapting on the spot. But the amount of focus and energy this requires isn't really sustainable, and it's only a matter of time before he burns himself out.
***
Re: companions -- I just got to Footfall, so I've only got their Act 1 introductions so far (and haven't met the later companions yet). But in terms of very early impressions:
Abelard: Space Dad. They butt heads a fair bit, but his experience and advice is invaluable, and he's the one person Vanth can sorta lean on for support (professionally if not emotionally -- yet). He also seems unafraid to tell Vanth bluntly to his face when he thinks he's being an idiot, which is an indispensable quality even if Vanth doesn't always agree with his position.
Idira: Sibling energy. Someone else who found a way to exist outside of the system. The only person he can have a normal (to him) conversation with. Basically his reaction to Idira was "oh thank fuck someone sane".
Argenta: nails-on-a-blackboard levels of uncomfortable. She swings wildly between compassion, contempt and fanaticism and he cannot get a bead on her. He respects her skill in combat, but he does not trust her at all, AND she picks on Idira, so she's on thin fucking ice.
Cassia: He is trying to remember that she's still a kid (technically an adult, I assume, but he's in his mid to late thirties, so to him she's a kid). And she's a kid who has been intensely isolated, indoctrinated and infantilized her entire life and who has not, until like a week ago EVER come in contact with any information that challenges her perception of reality/worldview. He is also trying to remember that when someone is actually willing to talk to her about that conflicting information, she seems willing to sit with the discomfort and objectively consider it, and in some cases change her view/behavior in response (which is more than can be said for some of the other party members). He is trying to remember that and not have a kneejerk reaction every time she opens her mouth about commoners, but goddamn it's a struggle. Not helped by the fact that even if he succeeds, she can still tell he's angry because she's an empath. He's working on it. He likes her, he's just so fucking tired.
Pasqal: TBD. He doesn't quite know what to make of him yet. (i feel like Pasqual had a much higher ratio of exposition to personal dialogue than the other companions in Act 1 -- which entirely fits the character, but doesn't give me a lot to work with XD)
Heinrix: IT'S COMPLICATED. They got off on the wrong foot for starters, walking in on him interrogating an enemy. Instant trauma flashbacks for Vanth, and then Heinrix immediately escalated the tension by threatening Idira. As first impressions go, could not have been worse. Luckily there was still a station full of cultists trying to kill them and combat is a hell of an icebreaker. He's still a walking trigger and the way he asks questions sets Vanth's teeth on edge, but things are more or less civil between them for now. Vanth values his pragmatism, and he's been kind to Cassia and he helped Evayne (and even Idira in that last combat). And every so often there is a hint of a person underneath all the dogma and red-tape officiousness, which makes Vanth curious despite himself.

I've been rereading your fics and they're very good!!! do you have any teasers for strangling fruit or eldritch confessions?
I haven't had a ton of time to write lately but EC is due for an update very soon tm!
here is a little strangle fruit bit just for you:
No plan survives contact with the enemy, right? He carves an X, crude and deep, into Dream’s arm. He lights a cigarette, breathes smoke in Dream’s face, and offers it to him. “You’re O’s,” he says.
Dream accepts it hesitantly, holding it delicately between his fingers like it’s something poisonous.
“Too good for it? That what you do with a gift? They’re, like, imported, man.”
Dream gauges him, looking for something in his expression. Quackity makes sure all he sees is a bright, vicious smile, and tightens the grip on his wrist a little further.
Dream takes a drag—awkwardly, it’s obvious he’s never done this—he pulls a face, and breaks down coughing. He’s trying to cover his mouth. That’s the thing about Dream, when you break him down: the cracks get so fucking obvious.
Quackity laughs and thumps his back. “Yeah, you get it. Go on, make your move, pal.”
Dream’s lip curls. He scrubs his arm across his watering eyes, then he extinguishes the cigarette on his skin below the X with a sharp inhale. He doesn’t flinch. The effect is a little disappointing, if Quackity’s being perfectly honest.
