astrology hot-takes 🪩

Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: these are MY observations :)
🪩 cancer placements are not the crybaby's you think they are. rather than outright emotional, I think cancer placements are super intuitive -- they're in touch with their's and other's emotions and (often) know when to express them or identify them. powerful people, love you guys <3
🪩 aries placements can be so selfish :( it's a combination of the fire and cardinal energy --> super passionate but can also be too forthright with themselves and how they feel, often times coming off as dominant. really competitive as well, with everyone around them
🪩 scorpio men have a distinct "twinkle" in their eye (some call it crazy lol)
🪩 libras and leos both want attention but for different reasons. libras want attention for their relationships while leos want attention in order to have a relationship with them. leos are more upfront about their "me" attitude while libras hide their need for attention through being super social and having a lot of friends.
🪩 12th house placements shine brighter and are more powerful than 10th house placements. this is because 10th house placements are fundmanetally meant to be known for "themselves" -- could be for good or bad. while 12th house stelliums have the power to be known for the impact and influence they have on others, which I think is more powerful.
🪩 tw! : 4th house placements in synastry are not good for people who grew up in abusive homes. when someone's planets fall near your IC (midpoint in the 4th House, opposite the midheaven), it usually indicates familiarity and feeling like home to them or one another. for people who did not grow up in good homes or were abused, this familiarity could develop into a trauma bond! pls be careful.
🪩 fame degrees and placements are not fun -- it's karma. being famous is not always glitter and glamour. though it's still a fortunate position to be in, it's hard (and sometimes even life threatening) to be famous. it is a debt to the public to be (yes, seen and adored) but also scrutinized for who you are. definitely not for the weak.
🪩 geminis are what aquarius' wish they were. aquarius definitely has a complex for wanting to be different, unique, and special. I've definitely seen this play out into superiority complexes and even God complexes. geminis naturally stand out for their wit, charm, and intelligence with everyone that they meet. I feel like Geminis, though they get a bad rep, are the ones that really can talk to anyone.
🪩 saggitarius are the best fire sign. they are the only mutuable fire sign, while Leo is a fixed sign and Aries is cardinal. due to this, they still embody the positives of fire energy -- playfulness, fun, energetic, free-spirited -- but they are also most adaptable relative to the others. Leos and Aries (still) definitely on that selfish streak.
🪩 the real mean girls of the zodiac are sisters --> pisces and virgo. pisces and virgos both use their intuitive, serving nature for harm. they figure out what your weaknesses are by faking care, getting to know you deeply, and use that at a later time to trigger you! also can be hypercritical, emotionally ab*sive, and manipulative.
🪩 the "best" synastry should actually vary zodiac to zodiac, chart to chart. 7th house synastry isn't ideal for everyone --> for example, an aquarius might want more 11th house synastry with their partner due to their friendly nature. definitely have to consider the whole chart, but not everyone's needs or wants in a partnership coincide with the placements in one another's charts. I know couples with no traditional synastry placements that have lasted longer than couples with them!
🪩 taurus placements love being comfy / keeping their comfort items with them. maybe it's because they're Venus-ruled, but taurus placements love cozy sweaters, blankets, and have specific comfort foods. a taurus friend has a specific blanket for different activities! but of course, has great taste in these things and only wants the best. being cozy and attractive is essential for their well-being!

Astrology Observations
(by a non professional, don’t take this to serious I’m just saying things I’ve seen happen a lot).
(English is not my first language, so if there’s any misspellings I’m really sorry).
I’ve noticing that our Juno might not be literally about the sun/venus/mars sign of our future spouse, but it really talk about the characteristics that make we want to build a home with these people.
People who have Virgo Juno feel unhappy with people who doesn’t pay attention to the details of the relationship. Virgo Junos don’t like people who doesn’t remember important or meaningful dates, it feels like we don’t really have earned a place in their heart and we don’t matter at all.
So maybe even if don’t are really just into virgos, we appreciate their qualities, and people who developed those Virgo’ characteristics (just like observance, pragmatism, down-to-earth, organized or good at planning) can easily catch our heart.
Also, I think that it can be easier if you s/o have importante placements in the same element of your Juno sign.
For example my best friend have Juno in Leo, and she fell in love with a sagittarius boy who doesn’t have Leo placements but he developed a lot of characteristics that usually are attributed to leos (such as a kind and charismatic persona, honest and direct to point, generous and sensitive, he appears to have a big golden heart too), but all of those characteristics could be also attributed to a developed sagittarius (sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, They can be just as “extra” or even more than Sun ruled people).
People who have Leo Juno tend to like the stereotyped golden retriever guys (my bsf always fell for this type).
I’ve noticed that people usually mistake Cancer suns as other sun signs, such as Leo, Gemini or Taurus. Maybe because people don’t really know Cancer placements characteristics and just stereotype them as crybabies.
I’m 3rd house Cancer Sun and people often mistake me as a Gemini or a Leo, they don’t really expect charisma and charm from us cancers.
I’ve been mistake as a Taurus too, but I’m a Taurus rising so I guess that’s why, but I’ve seen other Cancer suns who doesn’t have Taurus placements be mistaken as a Taurus very often (maybe because of Taurus charming and nurturing nature).
As a Taurus rising I’ve been noticing that the people I look up the most are Taurus Suns (they’re so beautiful and charming to me, it feels like they’re the most precious people of the world 🥹🩷).
I’ve noticed that people usually struggle handling their sister signs. Especially if that’s the first time they have to handle their sister signs energy.
As a Cancer I can’t really handle Capricorn Sun men (I love all my cap sun women 🫶💕), but in the other hand I enjoy cap venuses (and I can handle and enjoy their energy).
My mother is a Virgo, with a lot of Virgo placements and she can’t handle Pisces dreamy/delusional energy lol.
My father is a Capricorn and he can’t really handle my cancer ass, he have always tried to change my cancer nature and even when he failed he is still trying.
I had a lot of Pisces friends, and I haven’t seen a single Pisces who enjoyed their time with virgos lol.
All my sagittarius besties don’t really liked Geminis, but they always somehow fall for 3rd houses (the 3rd house is ruled by Gemini).
All Taurus men I’ve met have preferences in other earth signs women, and can fall for Pisces or Cancer, but I’ve never seen they choosing Scorpio women (Scorpio women are perfect 🫶💕 I love y’all🥹).
That’s all for this time, thank you for reading. 🫶💕

sister sign similarities
aries and libra are both passionate signs, though it definitely shows up differently. they care deeply for other people and for the world, and they both possess a strong sense of justice. these two remind me of a warrior king and their advisor, in a way. aries is active and assertive, fierce and protective, while libra is dynamic and cerebral, considerate and cautious. they encourage each other, and make for a beautiful partnership. the themes that commonly crop up for aries and libra are those of their own identity and place among other people and the world, of self-consciousness and self-absorption, of the body and the mind. at their worst, aries is rudderless, angry, impulsive. they have no cause to fight for and so become stagnant and bitter, lashing out where it isn’t needed. libra becomes paralysed, cynical, passive aggressive. they lose sight of themselves and fall into bad habits, growing passive and searching for shallow things to pique their interest. the two signs balance each other out, with libra reminding aries to slow down, to see the beauty in the world, to pick their battles, and aries teaching libra to look towards what ignites a fire in them, to take those first steps, to speak their mind.
taurus and scorpio both live in the sensual world. they explore and connect with their surroundings, and the people in them, through their senses. they need the tangible and the real in order to feel centred. we see this differently, with taurus often turning to comfort and beauty, and scorpio to human connection and the act of giving and receiving. they both crave closeness and intimacy, to truly share themselves and be vulnerable with another person, someone who can see and accept every part of them. this desire for openness can actually translate to feeling very scared. the vulnerability and defencelessness their hearts crave leaves the mind feeling out of control, helpless. so they can overcorrect to combat this fear of the unknown. these overcorrections look like distance, cynicism, controlling tendencies. they both have a stony quality to them when their fear is triggered; they withdraw and shut down, come across cold and almost hateful. it’s a misguided way to protect themselves from the threat of vulnerability, despite vulnerability being exactly what they need to find security in themselves and others. this push-and-pull is confusing to witness and distressing to experience. finding self-worth and a sense of home within themselves helps to mellow out the internal chaos, shed their fear and find intimacy with the world.
gemini and sagittarius have, to me, some of the most obvious similarities. both signs are fun-loving, adventurous, curious, compassionate and so funny. they can both be really charming when they want to be, and have a disarming and quirky sense of humour. there is almost a student-mentor relationship between the two signs, like they are at different stages of a similar path. gemini is curious, quick-witted, sharp and insecure. sagittarius is wise, receptive, somewhat softened and mellowed. both are storytellers and lifelong students, both need to travel and outgrow themselves again and again throughout their lives. both have a compassionate nature that sometimes gets lost among the fullness of their personalities. there is a stillness in sagittarius that restless gemini lacks, but both signs are always on the move internally. they gravitate towards different interests, but share a bright, twinkling enthusiasm that never fades. both have a suspicious side, with gemini being prone to anxiety and insomnia, and sagittarius being prone to ambivalence and escapism. this suspicion, when channeled properly, makes for a hunger for knowledge that will sustain them for life.
cancer and capricorn are a pair of sisters connected by childhood. in these signs, we see the journey from the womb to the grave, and we see the natives struggle with the questions brought up throughout it. where did i come from? who am i made up of? where will i go? what will i leave behind? in cancer, the former; capricorn, the latter. both signs are dedicated and deeply loving, with strong values to guide them through life. they both need to make an effort to ground themselves to the real world, as they have a tendency to run on autopilot. when this happens, they retreat into a rich internal life that holds them like a mother. as lovely as this feels, they need to grow and move forward, to find their feet and build their own lives outside of themselves. they both have incredible memories, with cancer especially using it to their advantage when they feel threatened or hurt. both are smart and sharp, but have a soft and often quite fragile core. we see it more easily in capricorn, but both signs are focused on their legacy. with cancer, it can be harder to see, and it sometimes looks to be backwards, with cancer oriented to the past, ruminating and reflecting. both signs wish for home, family, and something good to leave behind.
leo and aquarius are both such loud signs. not always physically, but there is just something about them, i suppose it’s star quality. both signs are strong-willed, stubborn at times and full of ideas. at their best, they burst with pride and generosity. leo especially is a big-hearted sign that makes every person in their life feel like a star. with aquarius, they light up the rooms they walk into, bringing something special to their community. at times, both signs are prone to egotism and self-centredness, being even miserly. this just isn't how their hearts are built, and they'll never feel themselves living like this. they need to open up, to share their strengths and gains with others, to love fully and purely. both signs are clever, social, and have an almost-regal quality to them. both signs can be insecure at times, in a childlike manner; needing someone to hold their hand while they explore, and they shouldn't be afraid to express this. even the strongest of us have softer parts, even the bravest feel scared, even the cleverest need to ask questions.
virgo and pisces are both deeply devoted. they often, in my experience at least, appear the most polarised of all the oppositions. on the surface, they’re totally different, and in fairness, their motivations and desires are often very different too. but on a deeper level, the connections start to form. both signs are ritualistic, devoted. virgo finds peace in their daily rituals, while pisces is centred by their unconscious mental rituals; they are prone to magical thinking and rumination. religion, spirituality, love and care are where we see devotion with the two natives. virgo is dedicated and deeply caring, and pisces overflows with love and kindness. both signs are fundamentally pure-hearted, despite virgo’s highly strung, critical tendencies, and despite pisces’ escapist and easily overwhelmed nature. virgo and pisces are both malleable too, and we see this with how adaptable they are, both to the good and the bad. it’s why virgo and pisces both find it hard to leave toxic situations, and we so often see their reactions to that toxicity. they both see the good in others to a fault, and have the vision to see how things could be. for virgo, they want to fix people and things, while pisces wants to be there and support the person while they fix themselves. i see these sister signs as old friends; you know when you’ve both moved into very different seasons of life, but you have that same line running between you both? virgo and pisces both seek connection through ritual, they both devote themselves truly and honestly to who and what they love.

~ The Virgo-Pisces axis is one of the astrological karmic poles. Virgo is the harvest and Pisces is the cyclic finale, so it makes for a duty-bound, hard, and solitary life for these signs in comparison to others. This is the axis of responsible service to the physical and spiritual realms, sickness and recovery in order to provide the remedy, healing crafts, and healing arts. For the individuals who undertake the inner work produce something great to offer, while the pressure and temptation for escapism pulls others completely under

Zodiac Polarities
This is my personal interpretation
Key: Green is Earth, Purple is Air, Blue is Water and Red is Fire
The zodiac axis’ is all focused on balance. Each sign can learn a lot from it’s opposite sign, vice versa.
Also known as sister signs, they are complete opposites but relate in some way, as for starters, they share the same axis, just on opposite ends.. If one’s going North the other will be going South, If one’s going East the other will be going West. If one’s in the 12th house one will be in the 6th house, etc.
Tumblr media
Aries 𓆑 Libra
They’re both social, passionate and softies at heart. Aries can teach Libra the importance of Independence whilst Libra can teach Aries the importance of partnerships.
Aries will be assertive and lead the crowd whilst Libra will compromise and follow.
Taurus 𓆑 Scorpio
They both can be quite stubborn, possessive and hold grudges as well as the fact they both crave power, control and trust. Taurus can teach Scorpio the importance of ownership whilst Scorpio can teach Taurus the importance of exchange.
Taurus indulges but also gives whilst Scorpio receives but also sacrifices.
Gemini 𓆑 Sagittarius
They’re both spontaneous, freedom orientated, curious and restless. They also both rule some form of travel: Gemini/3H short distance trips, local travel. Sagittarius/9H long distance trips, foreign travel. Sagittarius can teach Gemini how to quest for knowledge whilst Gemini can teach Sagittarius how to network for knowledge.
Gemini worries about every detail whilst Sagittarius is content with the big picture.
Cancer 𓆑 Capricorn
They’re both devoted, share a common goal of stability and traditional. Think of cancer being the nurturing mother archetype that is a stay at home mum and Capricorn being the strict father that goes to work to make the money. Cancer can teach Capricorn the importance of dependency, family and expressing emotions whilst Capricorn can teach Cancer the importance of self sufficiency, career and keeping composure.
Cancer sensitively nurtures whilst Capricorn sternly protects.
Leo 𓆑 Aquarius
Leo has a big heart whilst Aquarius has a big mind but they both share a big ego. They crave attention, expression and both strive for their talents to be recognised. Leo can teach Aquarius the importance of taking the spotlight whilst Aquarius can teach Leo the importance of working as a collective. Leo is a romantic who wants affection and love. Aquarius is quite detached but longs for loyal friendships.
Leo is the star of the show whilst Aquarius is the one who directed it.
Virgo 𓆑 Pisces
They’re both at the service of others, mature and have a more laid back humble nature. Pisces is the imagination and faith in what can’t be seen yet Virgo is logical, scientific and tends to stick to the facts. You can see it as Pisces is the spiritual guru who Virgo aims to prove wrong. Pisces can teach Virgo the importance of letting go & going with the flow and Virgo can teach Pisces the importance of boundaries and control.
Pisces feels emotion whilst Virgo thinks logic.

Look to your sister!
They are two sides of the same coin,  they look to each other for completion/balance.
What can you learn from your sister sign?
Aries can look to Libra for perspective. Libra has the ability to step outside of themselves and consider all possible sides.
Libra can look to Aries to become more comfortable with finding and prioritizing themselves, and not getting so caught up in others perceptions of them.
Working together, they possess a great skill of passion and vulnerability, knowing how to put up the proper boundaries to protect themselves without shutting everyone out and to love and be around others without sacrificing themselves and their identity.
Taurus can look to Scorpio to become comfortable with change, life's ebb and flow. There are seasons for a reason, with life there will still be death, nothing is forever the same.
Scorpio can look to Taurus to find joy and pleasure in even the little things when life gets turbulent. Also that everything isn't a loss, there is always something to be gained in the process. You are not always as alone as you feel.
Working together, even through the change you gain your sense of self, you gain understanding of what you want and do not want. You can enjoy the experience of people without having such a huge guard up. You will understand that the only thing you can control is yourself. You can protect yourself without shielding yourself from any joy. There are people who will add value to your life in more ways than just one only if you allow them too. You won't allow fear to run you.
Gemini can look to Sagittarius to learn there is more to to life than their own experiences. Also to take their time and master what they know, you don't have to know it all immediately.
Sagittarius can look to Gemini to learn how to communicate their ideas and perspectives. Also, It is ok to be a student.
Working together they are able direct and guide others. They have the profound ability understand many things inside and  outside of themselves and, learn and master many skills. They are able to honor what life and people gave taught them through research, observation, and conversation.
Cancer can look to Capricorn to learn how to become safe within themselves, that way once life shakes they can take the lessons without feeling completely destroyed.
Capricorn can look to Cancer to learn that their own emotions and comfort still have their place, and need to be prioritized. Also, to not become cold, mainly to themselves, because of the hard lessons life has taught them.
Working together, you learn that you can still to meet your own personal needs while facing the world. You find safety and security within yourself and don't look to the world to validate you. No one's projections can tear you down because you are in tune with self.
Leo can look to Aquarius to learn that we all shine differently. 10 people can be doing the same thing and no one will be stealing the spotlight. Be confident in your creative genius.
Aquarius can look to Leo to learn how to embrace themselves. You don't have to look to others to validate your individuality. It's okay to stand alone sometimes.
With these energies working together, you allow your inner child to thrive in its uniqueness. You understand that you add to your community in your own way. You allow people to get to know you internally and go to spaces where you are embraced for who you are. You understand that you don't have to earn love from others and that you are already worthy of it.
Virgo can look to Pisces to learn to allow others help them. You don't always have to be in control, you can relax and just be sometimes. Stop always trying to solve everything.
Pisces can look to Virgo to read the room. Know when you are overextending yourself and your energy. Learn  to have boundaries in place.
Working together there is a happy medium of meeting your needs and meeting others needs when they ask for help. You understand that it is not your duty to help and save every one. You can let loose and be carefree sometimes. You will learn to not judge yourself so harshly and to extend grace to yourself as well as others.
You understand that many things will be beyond your understanding and out of your control, and that is okay.

“Ava!”
The door hasn’t even opened the whole way that Ava is already being swooped up in a hug, nearly crushed to death by two strong arms that wrap around her.
Nova has the reflex of catching the bag that was hanging from Ava’s arm, thankfully.
“God, we’ve missed you so much!”
“I’ve missed you too, Shannon, but uh… I can’t breathe.”
“Oh right, sorry.”
Shannon puts her down, both hands on her shoulders and a smile that could light up the whole goddamn planet on her lips. She’s good at that, Shannon. Always was and still is.
Ava can only smile back at her, thinking about all the times Shannon hugged her before and how her door was always open for when she needed it — even though it was probably a breach of professional secrecy or something like that.
Sometimes Ava feels like she will always be sixteen in front of Shannon.
But then Shannon looks behind her, at the three little girls almost hiding behind her, Nova struggling under the weight of the bag.
“Oh crap, sorry,” Ava laughs, taking the bag and gesturing around her daughters. “You already know the girls. Girls, this is Shannon. We love her a lot.”
Shannon smiles even brighter, extends a hand to shake each of their little hands, always so careful to make little kids feel seen and appreciated.
“Hi, Neves,” she says, as little Neves hides behind Ava’s leg. “You’ve grown, I like your hair clip. You must be Nina,” she greets the girl, grinning when the little girl seriously shakes her hand. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
She shakes Nova’s hand then, looking her up and down.
“Jesus Christ, you’re short.”
Nova laughs so hard she nearly chokes on her own saliva, as Shannon ushers them inside, Ava following her into the kitchen where a couple of people she doesn’t know are already preparing things. Ava gives a friendly wave, all three of the girls following after her like little ducklings.
“Camila’s already here,” Shannon announces. “I’m glad to see you’re still turning up late as always.
“It’s part of my charm,” Ava grins, flipping her hair back and turning around with a frown when she hears three little mocking giggles behind her.
Having kids is having little assholes roasting you 24/7.
“We made cake,” she explains, taking out items from her bag — a bottle of wine, a box full of cake slices, Neves’ sippy cup (two little hands shoot out from under the counter to take it and Neves sticks in her mouth).
“You didn’t have to bring anything, you know that, right?” Shannon says, crossing her arms over her chest.
Ava points her thumb behind her.
“Nina insisted.”
“Oh. You did great, then,” Shannon smiles. “Come on, girls, let’s introduce you to everyone.”
Nova’s hand fists itself into the back of Ava’s shirt as they make their way to the glass doors leading to the backyard, where about twenty people are chatting happily with each other. Neves hides into Ava’s leg, but Nina follows after Shannon with her chest puffed out, like she wants to show that she’s better than her sisters and therefore braver.
“Ava!”
Mary appears next to them, big grin on her face.
“Late as always?”
“Yeah, yeah, okay, it’s not my fault time is inconsistent.”
“Sure, it isn’t. Where’s your comedian kid?”
“I’m right here,” Nina says, making Mary look down, Shannon’s arm looping around her shoulders.
“Hey kid. You guys hungry—”
She’s cut off by a dog that runs past her legs, straight for Nina. Nina, in all her brazen glory, doesn’t falter, facing the attacker fully with her hands on her hips. The dog circles around her, sniffs Ava’s legs where Neves is hiding, returns to Nina who is grinning happily.
“You have a dog?”
“Yeah, his name is Snoop.”
Ava’s head snaps back towards her.
“Snoop as in…?”
“Snoop the dog,” Mary grins, like this is the best joke in the world and Shannon rolls her eyes as she presses a kiss to her temple.
Since the dawn of times, it was always the two of them. Shannon and Mary. Mary and Shannon. Never one without the other, always moving into each other’s space like it was their own. Ava has seen them communicate with just a blink of an eye once or twice, not even bothering to finish their sentences as the others already knew. If it wasn’t for them, Ava would have lost all hope in Love with a capital L, but they were truly making her believe in miracles.
“In my defense, it wasn’t totally my idea. Bea said it first, although she probably never thought I’d actually use it,” Mary argues.
“What brand of dog is that?” Neves asks, and smiles when both Shannon and Mary laugh at her joke.
“I don’t even know,” Mary says. “He’s a rescue, Bea and I found him as a puppy on the side of the road one day. I don’t know what they put in him, but he’s weird.”
Snoop the dog licks at Nina’s cheek, making her giggle, and then runs off after stealing Neves’ sippy cup, and Neves, Nina and Mary run after him, yelling for him to let it go.
Nova is still hiding in the back of Ava’s shirt as Shannon leads them towards a table where drinks are set up, greeting a few people on the way. And Ava wishes she could ease her worry, tell her it’s okay, but 1. It never does anything to help and 2. She’s starting to feel a bit nervous herself as she greets people she has never met before but has probably seen around town ten years ago (but doesn’t remember because she was too busy looking at JC and how cool he was).
Mary, Nina and Neves are still running after Snoop, yelling and laughing at each other. At least Ava doesn’t have to worry about those two, Mary’s got it handed.
Camila sends her a discreet wave and a wink from where she’s talking to… Is that Lilith Villaumbrosia The Librarian? And she’s not just giving her sunny-Camila-smile, no, she’s full on flirting with her, dimples on display and a teasing light in her eyes. Villaumbrosia has never looked more confused as she’s listening to her, a glass of red wine in her hand.
You go, Camila. The Silva family stands with you and your weird taste.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t put myself in the middle of that,” Shannon giggles as she hands Ava a drink.
Looking around, she realizes that she has seen a few of them since her return. Emeline, over there, the cashier at the grocery store around the corner and whose son Diego is in Nina’s class, Dora who teaches gym class at the high school and coaches the soccer team, Todd who is just… Around, basically.
Her gaze wanders towards the end of the backyard, where an old forgotten picnic table sits — it was already there ten years ago when Mary and Shannon got the house — and she stops. Because Teacher-Slash-Hot-Neighbour Beatrice is sitting there, all alone. And she looks completely out of place, mouth doing that little wiggly thing Ava has only seen in comics so far, uncomfortable and borderline panicking as she looks down at the patch of grass at her feet.
“Oh yeah,” Shannon says, having followed her gaze. “I’m not sure you remember her. That’s Beatrice, she teaches 3rd grade.”
“Yeah, I know, she’s Nina’s teacher,” Ava tells her, turning back towards Shannon.
“Oh, right, I forgot,” Shannon nods. “She’s not really good with people, but she’s trying. Poor Beatrice,” she says, shaking her head. “She came back a few years ago and since then Mary has been trying to introduce her to everyone, but she doesn’t like it very much.”
“Wait, she’s from here?” Ava asks, surprised.
“Well, yeah, did you seriously think that someone would purposefully move here without knowing their way around?” Shannon says, snorting a laugh.
“But the accent…”
“British parents exist, Ava.”
“How come I don’t remember her? She’s not much older than me, we were probably at school at the same time,” Ava asks, frowning and sweeping through her memory to try and find a face like Beatrice’s — most of the adults here were kids with braces and acne, but even with her imagination she can’t remember Beatrice’s face.
Shannon wets her lips, shifting from one foot to the other uncomfortably.
“It’s not my story to tell, Ava, but she just wasn’t around much at the time. She came back with a teaching degree about three years ago and hasn’t talked much since then. But she’s a good person, big bookworm and smartass,” she smiles. “Nina is in good hands.”
Ava has never doubted that for a second.
She turns around to look back at Beatrice, only to realize that Nova has let go of her shirt. And for a good reason: she’s sitting next to Beatrice, her hands tucked under her thigh like she does when she’s shy, but she’s smiling slightly and nodding as Beatrice talks about something, looking at least a little bit more relaxed than before.
“Oh,” Shannon says, next to her. “Well that’s a surprise.”
Ava smiles, pride warming up her chest.
“No, yeah, I kinda have a feeling they’re a little bit alike.”
She grins at Shannon.
“Nerds.”
“Nerds,” Shannon grins back.
Ava doesn’t worry about either of them for a while. They’ve got it handled too.

The 3rd House & Sibling Rivalry
Sun in the 3rd House: Competition may be intense in the family dynamic or among siblings, but this placement is associated with favoritism, and they may not experience too much sibling rivalry due to them being used to "winning", shinning, getting attention. Siblings may feel like they live in this person's shadow. But this person can also get frustrated, disappointed, and tired by high expectations and despite possibly being the golden child, they may see all the attention, praise, and even worshiping to be unfair - they are held to unrealistic standards and their siblings are not.
Moon in the 3rd House: Is associated with being highly understanding, intuitive, and empathetic towards siblings. May feel like they need to protect or take care of their siblings. Sibling rivalry may not be common with this placement, but if there is any it is likely connected to ideas around family loyalty and tradition or from a desire to please a parent, especially the mother. Sibling rivalry may be harder to recognize, it may hide behind passive aggression and manipulation.
Mercury in the 3rd House: Is commonly interpreted as a positive or friendly relationship to one's siblings. Their relationship may be highly supportive, could be like close friends. But sibling rivalry can easily exist here. Arguing and trying to one up each other may be common and stem from a desire for each other's attention, attention from parents, or a desire to fit in with the family somehow. Rivalry and competition can get childish, selfish, and sometimes pushed too far. Sometimes their rivalry may stem from playfulness, learning, and respect.
Venus in the 3rd House: Is associated with a loving, close, harmonious relationship with siblings and possibly family or community. Sibling rivalry may not be too common here but can exist if a sibling is craving acceptance from a parent or even another sibling. Their rivalry may revolve around vanity, petty topics, and jealousy. Venus's association with the feminine could mean that a relationship with a sister, aunt, female cousin, or mother plays a center role in how competitive and close they are to their siblings.
Mars in the 3rd House: Competition or sibling rivalry may be very likely for this placement. Mars in the 3rd may mean home or the dynamic among siblings is a battlefield. On one end of the spectrum this individual may have grown up feeling stimulated, confident, and powerful with conflict and competition. Their relationship is like a strong brotherhood of warriors, gladiators. The high-energy of Mars feeds their relationship. Mars can mean a dynamic among siblings that is passionate, excitable, straightforward, and busy. On the other end is a dynamic that involves bullying, aggression, too much ego, and confidence issues. The relationship may be filled with burning, destructive fights, separation or estrangement, annoyance, and anger. Because Mars is associated with masculinity, a brother, uncle, male cousin, or father may play a center role in how competitive and close or unclose they are to their siblings.
Jupiter in the 3rd House: This typically indicates a fun, warm, exciting, optimistic relationship with siblings. Jupiter signals a positive relationship with one's siblings, but sibling rivalry may get large and dramatic. Competition and fights may center around how larger than life one can be or how much attention one can get. Jupiter is the planet of generosity, expansion, growth, the big picture, indulgence, overdoing it. Here one may get reckless and irresponsible with siblings. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" may be a good saying for this placement. Here one may try to impress their sibling or teach them a lesson and then fail in a big way due to impulsiveness or foolishness. Fights may be caused by accidents or misunderstandings. Large fights or damages to the sibling relationship may also be caused by differences in beliefs, especially as they grow up.
Saturn in the 3rd House: This is the sibling that has to step into the role of the parent or be the most responsible brother/sister. Sibling rivalry might not be that common, what is more likely is a sibling that rebels against their possible authority, question their role in the family, or frequently criticizes them. Control issues may exist in their dynamic with siblings or in the family. Competition or rivalry likely stems from an overly strict upbringing, a need for parental validation, burdens from the parents, or unrealistic expectations from the parents. This placement may also paint a picture of a sibling who takes on all the guilt, blame, and work of other siblings. They can be protective, loyal, and dependable to their sisters or brothers. Competition may also be tightly linked to themes of reputation, career, and materialistic success.
Uranus in the 3rd House: Famous for being the family rebel or the detached sibling. Despite their "aloof" or estranged reputation, sibling rivalry can be very apparent and active. Sometimes the competition, pranks, and teasing may stem from this individual needing attention, from boredom, or an attempt to stir up the family dynamic and drama because there is a lack of change or growth. Sibling rivalry can get silly, childish, may involve peers or humiliation or competition in public, and may involve a lot of innovation. A lot of competition may also exist in the intellectual or social realm somehow. But this placement can have a relationship with their siblings that balances playful and healthy rivalry with a supportive and stable bond. Uranus in the 3rd can prompt someone to be a curious, individualistic, perceptive, and smart sibling. One area they may get highly competitive about is their individuality, independence, self-expression, and intellect.
Neptune in the 3rd House: This may be a sibling who is hard to place blame onto. The sibling who never gets in trouble. Possibly the lost or forgotten sibling. The overprotected, oversensitive, or over coddled sibling. Rivalry here can exist and it can get messy and dramatic. But many times the rivalry or competition gets diffused out by their elusive or manipulative nature. This individual may quickly stop fights with siblings or stop a sister/brother from picking on them by talking their way out of trouble, running to someone else for help, hiding in their room, or a cold shoulder. One's family dynamics might also discourage competition or rivalry. Neptune in the 3rd can struggle with standing out or expressing themselves among siblings. They can be highly impressionable and may be highly competitive or instigating if their siblings are this way. In a heated and turbulent environment this person may be unexpectedly cruel, harsh, or theatrical in their fights or competition with siblings. This can also be someone who is caring, receptive, intuitive, gentle, and forgiving towards their siblings.
Pluto in the 3rd House: Here teasing, rivalry, conflict, and competition with a sibling may go into the realm of abuse or neglect somehow. That is at the most extreme end of things, overall this placement is associated with power dynamics and possibly control issues in the relationship between siblings. Pluto in the 3rd may indicate this person always feels like they are losing to their sibling OR the opposite, they are always the winner, the one on top, the one with the power among their brothers and sisters. Sibling rivalry usually is more than just competition or a thirst for thrills and confidence, for these people "rivalry" is usually conflict, insecurities, or deep wounds in disguise. Pluto is a planet of empowerment, and it can be associated with healthy confidence and willpower. But when this individual does practice healthy competition with siblings it will likely be in a way that is understanding, protective, and maybe even compassionate or gentle. Here Pluto may feel or seem like Neptune, Venus, or Moon in the 3rd when their softer side comes out in sibling dynamics. Even with a healthy sibling relationship, Pluto in the 3rd will likely always question or check their level of power and influence among family/siblings. They may frequently feel powerless or in need of more power, or they may struggle with feelings of shame and self-destruction because they recognize their misuse of power. The relationship with their siblings is likely intense, deep, and maybe transformative.
Chiron in the 3rd House: There could be a possible wound for this person that surrounds their relationship to their siblings, community, learning/education, or around sibling rivalry. Here any ideas around sibling rivalry could be touchy. Teasing, pranks, arguing, games could have all gone too far. A closer relationship with one's siblings may be important for healing. There can also be a connection to dropping all forms of rivalry to protect each other. This is the wounded sibling, the dynamic with one's sibling can involve themes of sacrifice, martyrdom, healing, fighting, being a scapegoat, victimhood, instability, and apathy vs. empathy.
Juno in the 3rd House: It would be interesting to see if those with this placement find that sibling rivalry comes out in who each sibling is dating. Do they frequently compare partners and families? At another level could be a sibling who feels like they need to protect or keep their brother or sister from having a partner or their own family. Competition and the dynamic may hinge on their or their siblings' ability to connect with, find, or love a spouse, and possibly with themes of self-love, attachment, and dependency. This individual's parent's relationship/marriage is greatly impactful and memorable on their relationship to their siblings and the dynamic of sibling rivalry. With a very healthy relationship, their sibling rivalry may be in shallow topics or somehow still a vessel to judge each other's partner (but maybe not out of competition but concern).
Pallas in the 3rd House: May indicate rivalry centers around each other's skills, insight, or perceptions. Sibling rivalry or sibling relationship may be important to developing one's intuition or problem-solving skills. It would be interesting to see if this placement manifests as siblings always trying to fix the other's or family's problems or one upping each other by being the "fixer". They may also highly compete against each other's talents.
Lilith in the 3rd House: Whether Asteroid, Black Moon, or Dark Moon, this could indicate sibling rivalry is somehow related to rebellion. Relationship with community, education, siblings, or extended family may be related to their darker or most unhealthy side in some way. Relationship with siblings could also be a route to liberation somehow too or towards deeper introspection and healing. All 3 Liliths have their own associations and functions but when talking about sibling rivalry all 3 likely relate back to themes of freedom, rebellion, control, and subjects or feelings that are typically labeled as taboo.
Ceres in the 3rd House: Here sibling rivalry may revolve around how much attention and nurturing one is getting from a parent, especially the mother. Could also mean this sibling is the one to act as a mother or nurturing role to their siblings.
