Part 5
Walking into the paddock the next day felt weird. You arrived with your father but quickly made your way to the Red Bull facility, not having spoken to your dad for the whole ride.
Mark looked after you, hesitant whether he should talk to you or leave you be for the moment. He quickly decided on the latter when he spotted Lando hurrying into the paddock, moving quickly towards Mclaren and only fake smiling at a few fans.
"Lando? Can I talk to you for a second?", he called, making the driver stop in his tracks. "Yeah?", Lando muttered. "Let’s go inside, yes?", Mark gestured to the door and away from all the prying eyes of the paddock.
"I want to talk to you about Y/n because she- well, she didn’t seem that happy yesterday and I figured that because you and her have some sort of relationship and the way you two looked yesterday, it must have something to do with you", he explained, watching how Lando crossed his arms.
"Mark, I‘m sorry but-", he started. "You don’t have to apologize, Lando. I think I know what’s happening here", Mark spoke. Lando looked down and stepped from one foot on the other.
"I figured this was on her not on you. I like you, Lando, you’re a nice guy and I can see you treating Y/n very well. If you want, I can talk to her", Mark offered, making Lando shake his head tho.
"Thank you for the offer but I think I should do this myself", he smiled, Mark giving a small smile in return.
"She‘s at Red Bull at the moment", your father told Lando, smiling and squeezing his shoulder.
Lando was about to text Max to let him know he was coming over but was whisked away by his engineering team to talk about the upcoming race.
When he was finally let go, it was almost time for the drivers parade.
"Lando come on!", Oscar called before the Brit wanted to hush out of the garage. He squeezed his eyes shut in annoyance but followed his teammates out on the track.
*~**~*
Even after the parade, he didn’t have time to come and find you as he was swept away immediately after to go over some final strategy discussions, put on his race suits and drive a few laps before the race would begin.
Lando internally cursed every single person who talked to him but tried his best to not let it show on the outside.
After having pulled up on P3, he got out of the car and searched for Zak. "I‘ll be back shortly", he let him known, receiving a nodded and a hard pat on the back. "The National Anthem starts soon."
Lando nodded and walked back through the garage and to the hospitality. He spotted you in front of Red Bull, talking to Kelly and Penelope.
He took a deep breath and walked over to the three of you. "Lando!!", P called, being the first to spot him and run over to him. He smiled and the little girl and leaned down to give her a hug.
"I saw you and Maxie on the track!", she told him overexcited. "You did? Was it good?", he chuckled and the girl nodded.
Then Lando looked up, seeing how Kelly and you watched the two of them. He got up, finding your eyes with his. "Can I talk to you for a second?", he asked, fiddling with the race suit, hanging low on his hips.
You looked over at Kelly, who gave you an encouraging nod and then back to Lando.
"Yeah, let‘s go", you agreed, following him up to his driver room.
"About yesterday-"
"What happened yesterday-"
"Sorry, you go first", you mumbled, fiddling with your sweaty hands. Lando cleared his throat. "I‘m sorry for the way I reacted yesterday", he said, pausing for a second which you used to speak up.
"You don’t have to apologize, I am at fault here", you admitted. "I should’ve told you the truth. You were right, I had countless of opportunities to tell you but I panicked every single time and I‘m truly sorry for this and I hope you can forgive me."
You didn’t notice Lando having stepped closer until he lifted your chin up. "I get it", he whispered, having gone over the words Oscar told him the day before almost the whole night. Your eyes found his, not quite believing the words coming out of his mouth.
"You‘re not supposed to get it, I don’t even get it", you replied humorless. Lando chuckled, putting his hand on your cheek and pulling you closer.
"Can I kiss you?"
You nodded slightly, looking down at his lips and back into his eyes before he pulled you in. The kiss was innocent and soft. Lando put his forehead against yours and smiled.
"Oscar came to my hotel yesterday and explained your motives", he admitted. You pulled back to look at him. "He did?", you asked surprised. Lando nodded. "Convinced me to talk to you", he said. "Oh Osc", you muttered.
Lando grinned and pulled you back in for another kiss. This one turning quickly into more than the shy one from before.
His hands started to roam over your body, one of them pulling you closer while walking backwards until your legs hit the edge of the physio bed.
Your hands gently pulled at the strands of his hair before one traveled lower to tug the zipper of his suit down, letting one hand find its way into his pants. You gently stroke over his hardening dick, making him groan into your mouth.
Lando placed kisses along your jaw and collarbone, just as you cupped his covered cock he softly bit down on your skin. A moan escaped your lips.
Revengefully you decided to palm his dick harder, making his breath hitch in return.
"Love, I-", he was interrupted by a moan. "I really want to continue but-", Lando’s head fell forward to your shoulder but not for long because you turned the two of you around and slowly sank down to your knees.
A loud moan escaped his lips at the sight of you kneeling before him. His fingers gripped the edge of the bed while his right hand gathered your hair in a pony tail-like hold.
His suit was already down to his knees but you quickly tugged down the black fireproofs and underwear, making his hard cock spring free and slap against his abdomen.
His tip leaking some precum already which you collected with your fingertip and took an early taste. "Please- just-", he breathed heavily, making you smirk at Lando’s light begging.
You wrapped your hand around the base of his cock before taking the tip in your mouth, slowly letting more and more of his length disappear into your mouth.
Lando groaned at the feeling of your warm wet mouth around him, trying his hardest not to slam in your mouth. You slowly started bobbing your head, taking more and more of his length each time.
Tears brimmed in the corner of your eyes when his dick hit the back of your throat. "Taking me so well, love", he muttered, having closed his eyes. His hand holding your hair guided you up and down his length but never forcing you to take more than you could.
He could feel himself getting close, the sensation of your mouth and your breath hutting his lower stomach each time you breathed out, piling up.
"I’m close, baby. You wanna swallow it?", he asked and was given an agreeing hum as a reply.
His breath was quickening, the fingers in your hair loosened its grip while his moans and praises became an incoherent mix. He let out a deep groan before burying himself deep into the back of your throat, ropes of cum shooting down your throat. You continued your movements up and down his length a few more times before releasing his softening cock and glancing up at Lando.
An exhausted but wicked smile graced his smile as he dragged his thumb along your mouth to wipe off your salvia and his cum.
Lando then pulled you up and placed a soft kiss to your lips.
"When do you have to be on the grid?", you whispered. "Uhm… about 5 minutes ago", he chuckled but didn’t let go of you.
"Well then hurry!!", you called, slapping the back of his head and started to dress him up again.
Lando chuckled and pressed one last peck to your lips before disappearing out of the door.
With a bright smile you let your fingers trail along your lips and followed Lando out of the hospitality.
Going back to the paddock, you decided to watch the race from Lando‘s garage, being met with your father at the entrance.
"Where‘ve you been?", he asked, a smug smile on his lips. "Uhm, why?", you tried to get out of answering. "Because Lando turned up late for the national anthem and I know he‘s been wanting to talk to you", you dad replied.
Your eyes widened but you tried to keep cool. "Uh- yeahhh, we… uh talked", you lied and turned around to walk over to Lando‘s side.
But you father didn’t let you go just yet. "Y/n?"
You turned around again, waiting for him to keep going. "If you‘re happy with him, I am happy", he smiled. Your heart softened. "I really am, dad", you answered.
He nodded and then reached forward for your cap. "Take this off before you go over there", he laughed, taking it off your head.
You let out a laugh before walking over to sit on an empty chair.
Max, Lando‘s best friend looked at you with a frown but didn’t say anything.
*~**~*
You gasped along with the rest of the garage when Max‘s car started to catch fire, sneaking your phone out from your bag to quickly text Kelly, asking her if Max and Little P are okay. She assured you that Max was fine and P didn’t quite understand what was going on and was simply sad that 'her Maxie' wasn’t racing anymore.
Towards the end of the race, your heart started beating faster. You watched as the mechanics ran over to the fence to cheer on Lando and stood up to clap along with the rest of the team inside the garage.
You quickly made you way out of the garage to reach the podium area as soon as possible and to not be squashed by the mass of people heading down there now.
You reached the fence just before Lando pulled up in front of the board. He jumped out of the car and walked over to his team, hugging various papaya dressed members.
Max and Pietra stood a few people down the fence, both hugging Lando when he came to them. Lando took off his neon helmet. Max leaned in to shot some words at Lando, who then snapped his head over to you. A big smile creeping on his face and he pressed his helmet in Max‘s hands to walk over to you.
Your grin grew the closer he came and you wrapped your arms around his neck as soon as he was close enough. "I‘m so proud of you", you muttered, feeling his hands squeezing your waist. He pulled back to look at you, his eyes finding yours and silently asking for permission. You nodded, giving him the go ahead.
The curly headed boy smiled before placing a soft kiss to your lips.
You giggled as you pressed your forehead against his. "Go and do your interviews and stuff so you can come back here as soon as possible", you whispered and placed another kiss to his lips before shooing him away to the Crofty who was already waiting for him.
"Congratulations on P3, another podium! How was it?", the British commentator asked. "It was a very good day for us. I‘m very happy, very proud of the team. A P3 and P4 is a lot of points in the championship so that‘s a first thing. I think our pace was strong enough for a P2 today but Charles undercut us. But anyway Ferrari and Carlos did a very good job, so hats off to them, they’ve been fast all weekend. To be completely honest I didn’t expect to be on the podium but it’s a nice surprise so I‘m very happy", Lando answered.
"I expect you on the podium! You looked incredibly fast out there", he replied which Lando answered with a smiling thank you. "Do you feel confident going into the next races, maybe scoring a few more podiums?" "Yes, of course, I mean this circuit suits us a little bit more so I could just really push but it‘s still another step to Ferrari and Red Bull, at the minute they are a step ahead for sure but it’s clear we are getting closer and a day like today proves exactly that. So, a big thanks to everyone at McLaren", Lando said, waving at his team.
"We‘ve also noticed a certain Australian lady by your side", Crofty smiled, making a grin sneak on Lando’s face. "Yeah?", Lando sneakily replied, turning to face the screen behind him as a replay of your hug and kiss was shown.
"Next time get her to show up in your color though", the british commentator joked. "Hey, it‘s quite the success to not see her in anything Red Bull related", Lando laughed, making you shake your head with a smile.
"I‘ll let you go now, congrats on the podium, Lando", he laughed making Lando laugh as well. He quickly thanked him and handed the microphone to a sky worker before walking over to you.
"You‘re not wearing anything to represent papaya", Lando called over, taking his cap off, pushing it down on your head and pulling you in for another kiss. You grinned into it, placing your hand on his on the steel fence.
"Just know, Oscar, Max and Daniel are going to hate you for this", you muttered. "Osc never got me to wear that horrendous colour."
"Hushh!!", Lando protested, shutting you up with a quick kiss. "I‘ll see you later."
You squeezed his hand before letting him go.
Lando chuckled and made his way over to the FIA official who showed him the way to the cool down room.
You couldn’t contain your smile when Lando walked out onto the podium, throwing your hands in the air and cheering and clapping as loud as you could. When he spotted you, his smile grew a little and he gave you a little wave.
Your dad presented Carlos‘ trophy but stopped in front of Lando for a second.
"Take care of her, alright?", Mark said as he shook Lando‘s hand. A smile crept on the face of the Brit. "I promise, I will", he grinned, his eyes finding yours the second you father stepped to the side.
You cheered and lifted both of your arms to wave at your boyfriend on the podium.
Lando could help but laugh, almost missing when the person with the trophy came to him.
He took the trophy in his right hand and raised it in the air, pointing a finger at you with the other hand.
"I love you", he mouthed, making your heart skip a few beats.

YOUR PRECIOUS ATTENTION | LN4
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
( lando doesn't like when you give your attention to someone else, when all he wants is to be with you )
warning : fluff, some jealousy
word count : 2.7k
!! english not my first language !!
you greet acquaintances as you walk and try to find your way in the paddock. you walk towards the McLaren garage and then your eyes search for your boyfriend. shortly after, you find him next to oscar and some engineers. they're talking and have serious faces. you want to greet them (lando actually) but you decide to not intrude their conversation because it looks serious and important, probably about the qualifications. so you wait. a little long. maybe a little too long. lando doesn't seem to have noticed you. well actually you arrived 30 minutes earlier than expected and that's why lando have no idea that you are here, waiting for him.
so you keep waiting. and waiting. time passes and now you've been waiting for 20 minutes. you know very well that the conversation was going to last a little longer, races are really important for lando and his team because it's their jobs. so instead of wasting your time and wait for him, you decide to take a walk inside the paddock, because as time passed you got bored.
a lot of people are present of course. engineers, journalists, racing teams, staff and the drivers' friends and family. but now you're used to that crowd. you're dating lando for quite a while now and attending almost all his races enabled you to be comfortable with this environment and atmosphere. and actually you really enjoy it. being able to meet new people, having funny conversations with them, the stressful feeling of races and qualifications, happiness when the racing team does a good job. you know that you're a very lucky person to have access to all of that.
you keep walking slowly, observing here and there around the paddock. then you find hamilton, saying goodbye to some guys and he notices you right after. you smile at him as he walks towards you, smiling back to you. he stops himself in front of you.
- nice to see you here y/n ! he says with a great smile.
- nice to see you too lewis ! you answered.
- why you're taking a walk alone ? he frowns a bit and then raises his brows like he found something. your boyfriend is too occupied right ?
you laugh and nod.
- yeah, looks like he was having a serious conversation with the engineers, i didn't want to intrude. but it's okay, i enjoy walking alone around the paddock.
- would you like to walk with me a bit then ? i've finished checking things with my team and i'm not gonna lie i need some distraction, he adresses to you a big smile.
part of you want to decline your friend's offer but you remember lando is still in the mclaren garage and if you join him now he'd probably be still here talking, not having time for you. and it's been a while since you last spoke with lewis.
- okay, let's go. but just for like 10 minutes, otherwise lando will wonder where i am and search for me all around the paddock, you say in a grin.
- don't worry, i won't take up too much of his girlfriend's time, he joked.
you guys start to walk slowly, enjoying the presence of each other. lewis is actually a good friend of you. well it's thanks to him that you're now lando's girlfriend. you're one of his closest friend, you know him for some years now. one day, he asked you to come to watch him pilot. you said that you didn't have the time, too busy with your job. he had to beg you and made you free up time to come over and watch a grand prix. finally, you gave up and went a sunday to the race. and you don't regret coming that day, because it's when you met for the first time lando. and now he's your boyfriend. lewis really deserves an appreciation for that.
- when i think that at the beginning you were a supporter of Mercedes, he grin and look down at your mclaren hoodie. the number 4 was on the back of it.
- guess tastes change, you answered playfully.
- especially not because of one particular boy, he's now giving you a implicit look.
- oh please shut up, you say in a smile and hit his shoulder.
he laugh at you. sometimes you forget lewis can be very teasing when he wants.
- but it's okay, i like lando. especially because he got me rid of an irritating girl, he jokes and can't hide his vicious smile.
- you lewis !! you give him a blow in the ribs and  shoot a black look. you try to bite back a smile but his laugh and teasing can't help it.
- i'm not going to remind you that roscoe loves me more than you, you tease him. and well, it's the truth.
- don't even try to continue on this topic. you know it breaks my heart y/n, he says and place his hand over his heart like he was hurt.
- so dramatic, you laugh and roll your eyes.
you can't deny it but your teasing game with lewis is something that you really like. you missed these interactions with your friend. and so does he.
you both are so into your teasing game that you don't even realizes you're now in front of the mclaren paddock. and what you also didn't noticed was how lando is looking at you two.
he finished his checking conversation with the engineers and oscar not so long ago. he thought that you were already in the garage waiting for him. but how suprised he was when he found out you were not here. first, he thought you were just in the toilets, or in his drivers room. so he calmed down a bit and went to his room. but you were not here too. then he started looking for you, searching everywhere until he finds you here in front of him, laughing and joking with hamilton. you look happy, looking at him with a playful look and smile, slapping his arm and then shoot him back a black look trying not to burst out laughing at the dumb things he says.
lando can't help but felt his heart tightens. the way you are just having a fun time with lewis, laughing like it is the funniest moment of your life, your hand touching his shoulder so that you don't lose your balance because you have this habit of almost falling to the ground when you're laughing to hard. and that usually happens when you are with lando, when he makes you laugh because oh he loves the sound of your laugh and your big smile, especially when he's the reason of it. but seeing you in this exact state with his driver friend instead of him, he just doesn't like that at all. yeah, he hates it. and he also feel guilty about it. he likes hamilton because he's his friend, but above all because it's thanks to him that you're his girlfriend.
he feel like he has no right to feel like that, because originally you are a friend of hamilton and he met you after him, when you were already one of his closest friends. if lewis didn't bring you that sunday, lando wouldn't be bere to be yours. but he also can't stand seeing you being so close to him, like it's just the two of you against the world. he just wants to be the only one for you, to be the only one that make you smile and laugh like that. just him and you. just you giving him all your attention. maybe he was just a bit insecure.
he sigh and take a deep breath. then he walks towards you two. he stop himself behind you and in front of the other driver and you are still laughing like kids until lewis notices him.
- looks like the prince if finally here for his princess, lewis says earning a grin from lando.
- yes, i come to save her, he reply in a grin but with an annoying tone, that he hopes you haven't heard. it comes harsher than he wanted.
- i am a troublemaker or something ? lewis joked and tease his friend.
- of course you are, you're always bothering me when lando is not here ! you say, still teasing him.
- oh stop i already know you loves him so much and would rather be with him than me in any situations, the mercedes driver give a playful look to the mclaren driver while saying this to you.
- of course, he's lando norris. how can i not love him ? you reply softly.
lando feel his heart lights. he can't help but smile at your sweet words. you look so in love with him it just makes lando so so happy. he drop his gaze on you and you give him a big smile, the one he cherishes with all of his heart. he wrap his arms around your waist and pull you close to his body.
- oh please don't do that in front of me, lewis says and act like he was disgusted, just to tease and bother you.
- not my fault if you don't have someone to hug, you reply, defending you and your boyfriend.
- yes it is, he reply back to back.
- no, it is not.
and like that you guys keep arguing about why lewis never hugs people and that he's maybe in need of affection. and lando was just there, trying to follow the debate.
you are just giving almost all of your attention to hamilton instead of him. and lando just hates that. he just want to run away from you and eclipse himself for the whole day, distancing himself from you until you give him your divine attention. maybe he is childish for thinking like that, but he just feels so jealous right now. for him, lewis is just stealing his girl. he should be the one debating with her, not the one who is here on the side and just standing like a bot. he is getting more jealous and angry. and he doesn't like that.
so, instead of just explodes in front of you two, he try to get your attention by squishing your hand, or your waist. reaching his hand to replace a strand of hair on your face, pull the sleeve of your hoodie, randomly kissing quickly your cheeks or the back of your hand. he just keeps touching you gently and softly and each time you look up at him and give him some bit of attention he feels relieve and happiness fills his body. but not a second later you're back talking and laughing with lewis. and then he can't stand it anymore.
he walks away from you and left you here with hamilton, not even daring to look back. he feels like an idiot for his shit behavior towards you and his mate but he gets sick by just seeing you so close with an another man than him. he knows damn well jealousy is not something good in a relationship, but he's so done. he is so annoyed and irritated by what happened that he completely forgot he has the qualifying. he enter the mclaren garage in a virulent way, and some people notice it, oscar being one of them.
- hey mate, you look like you're going to kill someone, oscar joked as he comes closer to the driver.
- maybe because that's what's going to happen, lando reply in a irritating tone.
oscar get silent for a moment and frown. he examines lando's expression.
- what happened ? he asked cautiously, not wanting to make things getting worse.
- nothing, don't worry, lando reply coldly.
- you're sure ?
lando turn to face his teammate and calm down a bit. he sigh and pat his shoulder to reassure him.
- yeah, just some silly things i think about. he pause for a second and then he gives him a determined look. let's do our best for the qualifying mate !
oscar smiles and nod his head, even though he's still worried about his friend statement.
and then, the qualifying takes place.
----
you're now waiting for your boyfriend in his drivers room. you know something bad happened, or maybe you did something wrong but the way your lover just left you in the middle of the paddock like an abandoned child makes you worrying about him. he looked angry, furious and frustrated because his walk wast fast and he didn't even look back. you want to know and understand why he reacts like that.
the race just finish some minutes ago, and lando will come soon into his driver room to dropped some stuff out as usual.
and then the door opens. you meet his eyes, and they're a lot of different emotions in it when he realizes that you're here. you stand up and guide yourself to him.
- lan, you whisper softly.
you try to approach him but he moves and take a step back. you're hurt.
- can we talk about what happened please ? i know something bother you.
he lift up his head to meet your gaze. and he didn't expect to see your hurt expression on your face. now he feels even more guilty than during the race. because yes, he regretted his behavior and how childish he was towards you when he was on the track. he couldn't concentrate fully on the race because of you and his shit actions. and now seeing you in this state makes him want to kiss you and hold you tight. his heart is crying.
- yeah, sure.
- why did you walk away like that ? something happened i know it, you start.
he avoid your gaze and start playing with his fingers. he's nervous. he does not want to reveal that he was so jealous of lewis because you would think he's such a kid and immature. a moment of silence fill the air. you notice that he looks nervous, so you try to help him.
- it is because of me ? you ask gently.
- not really, he answers still not looking at you.
- lando tell me what's wrong. i want to know because i'm confused and i don't want you to keep things to yourself. you can talk to me baby.
- i'm so sorry love, he says. then the second later, you're in his strong arms. he pulls you very close to his body and hide his face in your neck. so so sorry. i didn't intend to hurt you.
you sigh and gently rub his back.
- i'm not. just tell me how you feel lan. i promise i already forgave you, just tell me about your feelings please.
he goes silent for a minute, keeping you close to him.
- it's just... i didn't like the way the two of you interacted later. you were laughing a lot because of lewis and you kept making jokes with him. and i felt like you were ignoring me and enjoyed more his presence than mine. i don't like when you're close to an other man. i want you just for myself. i know this is selfish and childish because originally you're one of his closest friend but you were giving all of your attention to him instead of me. i was huh... jealous.
you move a bit away just to look at his face. you can see how guilty and hurt he is, like he was begging your pardon through his eyes. this picture breaks your heart in two. sometimes you feel like you don't deserve him.
- ohh my sweet boy... i understand how you feel. you have the right to feel like that. i was having fun with lewis because it's been a long time since we last saw each other and i didn't even think that it could have affected you so much. i'm so sorry love... so sorry. you know i also want to keep you all to myself.
- we're quits i guess.
you laugh softly and hug him. his hands rub your back slowly.
- i just want your precious attention y/n, lando says close to your lips.
- now you'll have it lando, you reply in a grin.
he smiles wide and pulls you closer. god he just loves you so so much, it sometimes hurts. he leans in and kisses you, squeezing your waist as you cup his face in your hands.
and you'll never leave his side, giving him all your attention for the rest of the day. and the rest of the week-end.

To my fellow DND fans- no this is probably not canon compliant, yes I’m upset about that, but look I really needed to write this so sue me I guess
Author note- Self indulgent, I have baby fever, but don’t want a baby fic. I’m unsure of how long this will be or if it will have more parts-it depends on how angsty I feel, but I need to have like six different ideas to think about at a time soooo 😂
*This hasn’t been edited ✨well✨so please forgive me
Tumblr media
*again, no fucking clue who’s picture it is, but it sure as shit isn’t mine so if it’s yours- reach out so I can give credit!
You keep yourself propped up against the sink in the kitchen as Shadowheart holds your hair out of your face and dabbing away the cold sweat that drips down your neck.
You are really sick of being morning sick. It’s absolutely the worst thing in the world- well besides your potential death from carrying your little girl inside of you. You sometimes think Astarion may get his wish- you may just die screaming.
You dry heave one last time- not a single thing comes up because you haven’t kept a single thing down since two mornings ago. Your morning sickness is inconsistent and comes on with little to no warning.
It’s been five months since you conceived this fricken kid, but it was like all the symptoms hit after you killed the Netherbrain.
A part of you really wishes you had somehow known before then- maybe it would have changed the cruel fate that ended your relationship with Astarion. You were literally pregnant in the middle of fighting Cazador. You think about what he last said to you all the time and just sob hysterically- like it happened yesterday.
A deeper part of you feels abandoned, but you blame yourself for him leaving. You should have been more convincing or maybe you shouldn’t have flat out told him no and explained why in the hells you didn’t want him to ascend.
For example- you didn’t want to lose him to some evil version of himself.
Ironically, you lost him anyway and are pregnant with his fucking child who insists on occasionally making you miserable.
Despite your inherent sadness, anger, and sickness, you find you are actually quite excited to meet her. You haven’t settled on a name yet and Shadowheart has been very helpful in regards to making sure you are healthy and strong for delivery. She’s your best friend and you could not be more grateful for her.
“I’ll go back to the market today and get you more of those herbs,” Shadowheart says quietly when she talks to you, “they seemed to help last time?”
You nod- exhausted and your head is pounding. You and this kid are going to need to have a serious conversation. You will not be letting a second Acunin make you miserable before she is ever born.
Shadowheart guides you to your bed upstairs, standing behind you in case you get hit with a wave of vertigo- which usually happens post vomit episode.
You pull your curtains closed- thankful that the desperate hope in your heart led you to buying black out curtains. You close your door and lay down on your bed- tears spilling down your cheeks freely.
You miss him terribly. You shouldn’t. You should positively hate him, but everyday of this pregnancy makes you ache for him. You should be doing this together.
You know it’s hormones- the weepiness, the intense longing, and the Gods awful horniness. Dreams are the worst. You wake up a squirming disaster at least three times a week with your skin burning hot with memories of Astarion touching you.
You are happy that isn’t the case currently, but the weepiness sucks too. Remembering how he used to curl around you, the way it felt to have him kiss you on the forehead, and all those late night conversations with (now empty) promises. You curl yourself around your pillows, willing your imagination to pretend it’s him, and you sob until you fall asleep.

Astarion tries to contain his excitement and fear as he follows Gale and Shadowheart to your home. Finally, after searching for literal months, he was going to see you again.
Astarion has been haunted by the last words he had said to you for what feels like eons now. He hadn’t meant it at the time and he certainly doesn’t mean it now.
He had been too afraid to come back to you after everything he had said. Astarion decided you probably hate him anyway so he tried to move on.
He tried being with other people (it always failed miserably because they weren’t you), he drank until he couldn’t remember a damn thing, and when all else failed, he began his search for the Ring of the Sunwalker.
After the nightlife of Baldur’s Gate lost it’s appeal and he finally found a ring location, Astarion found himself in front of Gale’s door in Waterdeep- begging him of all people to help him.
The wizard had been puzzled and melancholy when he realized Astarion was at his door. Astarion told him every little piece of how he feels about you, how much he misses you, and how he wants to be able to give you the life that you deserve. Astarion was practically on the verge of hysteria while trying to make his case.
Thus began the search for the Ring of the Sunwalker.
They were able to locate and obtain one after a grueling three month long journey and some help from one of Gale’s old friends. Then, they headed straight to Silverymoon- your last known whereabouts.
Running into Shadowheart had felt like a miracle, but to also have her living with you had made the trip even easier. Except Shadowheart was being really really weird towards him.
When Gale first asked if Astarion could come along too, Shadowheart had asked Astarion why he wanted to come and see the person he “hoped died screaming?”
Astarion had flinched at the anger and venom in Shadowheart’s voice. He figured the others would be mad, but he was hoping maybe Shadowheart would give him a little easier time like Gale had. Astarion was genuinely surprised by how quick she was to be defensive of you and your whereabouts. When Gale confirmed that Astarion was telling the truth, Shadowheart reluctantly said he could come.
The three arrive at the front of your shared townhome- it faces the beach and has the perfect amount of windows for the sun to light up the house, but one of the rooms is hidden from sight with heavy, black out curtains.
Shadowheart turns to both of them, “Tav might not be able to join us… she’s been sick for a bit now and is… recuperating.”
Astarion feels his heart drop to his stomach.
“Sick? For how long?”
Shadowheart shifts on her feet uncomfortably, “5 months, but it got worse around 3 months.”
“Tav has been sick for that long?” Gale exclaims, “why didn’t you write!? I could have helped.”
“This particular affliction is one you wouldn’t understand,” Shadowheart says with a finality that suggests the conversation is done as she leads them into the kitchen.
Shadowheart immediately gets fussing with the herbs while Gale looks around the house. Astarion is still unsure of what he should be doing. The house engulfs him in your scent and he feels positively intoxicated. You must be really sick though because your scent smells different- not bad at all, just different.
Does he talk to Shadowheart? Does he look around with Gale?
Or does he sneak off and find you? Astarion doesn’t want to waste anymore time than he already has. Slowly, he creeps towards the stairs.
“Don’t even think about it, Astarion,” Shadowheart warns.
Astarion looks at her and then back at the stairs. He does this a couple times until Shadowheart appears to be annoyed enough that she’s let her guard down a bit.
Astarion takes off up the steps and he hears Shadowheart and Gale coming up right behind him.
Astarion hears a dry heave from down the hallway and he goes racing for the door.
If you are as sick as Shadowheart has suggested (5 months is crazy long), Astarion may not have much time with you and Gods he needs to take advantage of the time he does have.
Shadowheart be damned.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You wake up feeling even worse than you did when you fell asleep. Your headache feels like it’s taken on a life on it’s own and Gods you are going to vomit all over the floor if you don’t move NOW!
You get up with an impossible amount of speed for how dizzy you are and you grab the pail on your nightstand and heave painfully.
You are rocking back and forth, groaning as more stomach acid comes up because again, not able to even keep anything down.
You hear a pair of footsteps and then Shadowheart screaming after-
“ASTARION! THEY ARE SICK! YOU NEED TO WAIT!”
“I have been looking for them for months now,” you hear him hiss, “if they are sick, I need to see them. If this has lasted five months- then who knows how much time I’ve wasted!”
“Will you stop being selfish for five minutes!? It’s not about you and who even says she wants to see you!?”
Shadowheart and Astarion are yelling in front of your door now. You feel tears prick your eyes- Astarion is here. Here here. A flurry of excited kicks from inside you catches your attention and a feeling of blissful happiness comes over you. Oh look, the nausea is gone. Of course it is.
“Traitor,” you whisper before laying down on your bed for a moment.
You are very happy that your unborn daughter appears to be pleased and feels good about her dad being on the other side of the door. You, on the other hand, are less than optimistic.
Wasted time doing what? And why did Shadowheart say I was sick!? In what world was that going to keep him from going upstairs!? Especially if he, your mind pauses, cares about me? Again?
Which you hope he does- you would hope Shadowheart wasn’t so sick of taking care of you that she brought him here to finish the job. Maybe this is all one big show.
Another, “I WILL DO WHAT I PLEASE” from Astarion, a “YOU SELFISH BASTARD” from Shadowheart, and a “Please can’t we all just be nice, catch up, and get along?” from Gale finally gives you the motivation to get up. The arguing feels far too much like being in camp again. You pinch the bridge of your nose, willing the growing headache to go away.
It doesn’t so you change into a pair of longer cotton pajama pants, a t-shirt that is unfortunately showing off your bump more than you’d like, and then you swing open the door in tired annoyance.
You are met with Astarion looking at you- his eyes scanning up and down your body- settling on your stomach. His expression is unreadable- it’s somewhere between lust, love, grief, and heartbreak. Embarrassed by Astarion’s intense gaze, you look over at Gale who is all smiles for you.
“Congratulations Tav!!!” Gale practically yells, making you wince, “the father is a lucky man.”
“I don’t think he considers himself a lucky man,” you say pointedly before turning to Astarion, “or do you?”
Astarion’s face changes entirely with your words. His eyes look at you, round and soft. His eyes are full of adoration and need- a look you never thought he would give you again. You have to fight the urge to grab him and drag him into your bedroom. You will not let the hormones win- you will be strong.
“I- it’s- I mean,” Astarion is fumbling over his words, “you are carrying my child?”
“Yes,” you say grumpily, crossing your arms,” and she’s been giving me nothing but trouble. Thanks to your genetics, I’m sure. This is day two of not being able to keep a damn thing down and this fucking headache is UNBEARABLE so please for the love of every God keep the arguing down.”
Astarion is still looking at you with a mystified expression- taking you in as if for the first time in his entire life. You look back towards Gale and Shadowheart- you are entirely too self-conscious and way too excited to see him for him to be looking at you like that. You are trying to be mad dammit!
Shadowheart gazes at you and your surely red tipped ears with amusement before she says, “I’ll go and get the potion ready for you- that should hopefully help.”
“I will- uh,” Gale says awkwardly, looking between you and Astarion, “join you! I might need to know which herbs to use… in the future?”
“Planning on getting pregnant Gale?” You say with a smirk.
Gale snorts at you, “Dear friend, as wonderful as you look right now- none of the side effects sound appealing.”
“Oh they most certainly aren’t,” you say,” but thanks for thinking I look ‘wonderful’. I feel, well, disgusting.”
“Gods, how could you even think that?” Astarion blurts out, appearing shocked that he even said it, “you look like…. A vision. A wonderful, stunning vision, Darling.”
Shadowheart and Gale excuse themselves as you struggle to find the words for Astarion’s comment. Your entire body feels like it’s on fire and you feel yourself begin to melt a little bit. You feel your emotions bloom into something resembling spring as he steps closer to you- looking at you with pleading eyes.
You clear your throat, “would you like to come into my room and talk?”
Astarion nods eagerly, following behind you so close that you once again have to remind yourself that ripping off the clothes of someone who literally told you they wanted you to die screaming was not healthy- at least not until you get a proper apology.
You sit against your headboard as Astarion walks around your room- running his fingers along the bassinet and rocking chair in the corner. You still can’t get a read on him.
“A girl?”
His question breaks the air.
“Yes,” you smile at him, “no name yet though.”
“I’m sure you’ll pick a nice one,” he says with a smile, but his tone is entirely too melancholic.
A painful thump in your heart fills your body with sadness. He doesn’t want to be involved. Of course he doesn’t want to be involved. You are his knocked up ex-girlfriend. What were you expecting? The lump forming in your throat is unbearable.
“You don’t want to be involved?”
Oh good Gods you are crying. Astarion rushes over to you the minute your tears begin to fall- sitting in front of you on the bed. He reaches out and gently wipes your tears away as he speaks.
“I want to be involved so badly it hurts,” his voice comes out scratchy and emotional, “but that is your decision, not mine. You have been on your own for months, my Love. Instead of trying to come back and make it better- I pushed it off until I thought I could give you what you deserved- a life in the sun.”
You almost whine in protest when his hands leave your face. He twists the ring around his index finger before continuing, avoiding your gaze, “But maybe I was wrong. Maybe what you deserve is a person that isn’t so damaged. Someone who can give you what you actually deserve which is a loving partner who hasn’t hurt you over and over again- a man worthy of being a father to ou- I mean your child.”
His confession and the tears that are streaming down his face are enough for you. Yes, you absolutely want to scream and yell at him, but you also ache for him. You can’t fault the man for being a slave for 200 years and then not taking it very well when you told him what to do. You always knew you would forgive him if he came back- you never thought he would, but here he is and like he said- there is no reason to keep wasting time.
“She is our child, Star,” you whisper and guide his eyes to look at you, “I want you to be involved. I don’t care what you think I deserve either. I have missed you so horribly since you left. It’s almost pathetic really. I’ve tried to blame it on the hormones, but… I don’t know. The picture has felt incomplete up until now.”
You absentmindedly put your hand on your stomach- receiving a kick. You glare at the place where your hand is resting.
“Will you stop kicking me for five minutes!?” You scream, “I WAS IN THIS BODY FIRST!”
Astarion looks at you bewildered and confused, but quickly realizes you aren’t talking about him. The smile that spreads across his face is wide and Astarion gingerly moves closer. You are still a little cautious- needing to protect not only yourself, but also your unborn child. He moves to the right of you and goes to move you just slightly so he can slip in behind you.
“Could I? I mean if it’s not crossing any boundaries!”
Astarion is on edge- you can tell that much, but he doesn’t look at you like he did that last time you saw him- Astarion is looking at you like you are the most precious individual who has ever walked this earth.
You nod shyly, and then Astarion slots himself behind you, your back against his chest, his face in the crook of your neck, and his legs on either side of yours. He cautiously puts his hands on your stomach and is immediately kicked.
Astarion laughs with joy, “she’s strong!”
“Strong willed and strong physically,” you shake your head and you are laughing a bit now too, “you may just get your wish yet.”
“What wish?”
It had slipped. You hadn’t meant to bring it up again- or maybe you did. You want to know for sure if he still feels that way, but the confusion in his voice says he doesn’t. You go rigid and go to dismiss it when you feel his posture change behind you, his grip loosening ever so slightly.
“Right… that.”
The silence is nerve-wracking. You’ve lost him again, you are sure of it. A stray tear begins to roll down your cheek.
“Astarion-“
“No, let me think, Darling. I want to make sure I say everything I want to say correctly.”
You continue to sit there in silence, he places soft kisses on your neck. You feel him smile against your skin at the needy moan that escapes your lips. You absentmindedly reach out for one of his hands and begin to play with his fingers while he thinks. Astarion used to let you do this all the time while you were traveling- it helps you feel grounded.
“I was so consumed by all that power in the moment,” he says slowly, “I wasn’t thinking. By the time I had realized what I had done, I felt like it was already too late- you most likely hated me and moved on.”
You have to bite your tongue- you want to scream. Hate him? Never. You had been miserable without him around for that last month of traveling. Your heart had felt like a dead weight in your chest and you had been moving around like a zombie.
“So I tried to move on… I even tried to be with others, but I just couldn’t do it. It’s selfish, but I want you. I never want anything bad to happen to you- I certainly don’t ever want you to die screaming. I don’t want you to ever carry a child that is not mine.”
You are surprised by the warmth in your core when he says his last sentence. There is something so primal there that you have to really focus on what he is saying next.
Astarion clears his throat before finishing speaking, “I don’t want to be without you anymore- four months is too long. I don’t want to miss out on anymore of your pregnancy and I want to be here for you- with you- doing this together like we should have been doing this whole time. I was a horrible fool- please give me another chance. Please, Darling. I love you- so so much more than I ever thought anyone could ever love someone.”
Astarion’s words hang in the air and you are trying not to begin crying for the 15th billion time. This is what you had wanted to hear all along. You can feel his tears on the collar of your shirt- the way he inhales as if to memorize your scent like this is the last time. Astarion is not expecting you to say yes- you know that because he’s starting to loosen up, pulling away from you so that he can respect your decision.
“I love you too,” you whisper, “I don’t want to be without you anymore either. I forgive you- please stay.”
“I won’t be going anywhere unless you want me too, my Love.”

Summary: It was almost as if the cauldron liked to play games, as if it had sensed years of boredom and predictability and begged to be entertained. Its method of absolving its melancholy? Mate the High Lord of the Night Court to the younger sister of the High Lord of Spring.

It was like being born, even though I was the ripe age of 435. Well, ripe in the years of fae. It felt like being born, in the sense that I can’t really remember what came before that passing shade of violet. The way his eyes bore into me, and in that moment I knew he felt the tug too.
Mates.
I reeled for days, the peonies of spring my only console, my brother had always been so absent minded and utterly consumed with being High Lord. How could the cauldron be so cruel? To mate me to the High Lord of the Night. I spent the next week thinking it had to be a mistake, that my bored mind was playing tricks on me. Yet when the council met the week following, his eyes found me immediately, and I think in that moment I saw him for the very first time.
I didn’t dare approach him, far too shy and afraid to approach the Lord of Night. Not just  because of what he was, but because of what my brother would say. By basic necessity Tamilin was a good brother, he doted upon me, kept me safe, gave me free roam of the palace. But there was a darkness about him I couldn’t place. It started when he disappeared with our father one night only to come back with two sets of Illyrian wings. I knew whatever happened was wrong, but as a woman in the spring court, I knew better than to open my mouth. Needless to say, Tamlin became High Lord of Spring shortly after, and from the wings mounted on our family walls I knew we had but one enemy, the night court.
It wasn’t until the third council meeting (the third I was allowed to attend, after I begged my brother to let me go) that the High Lord of Night finally sought me out.
My brother was busying himself with the politics of Day and Summer, talking the heads off of Helion and Tarquin. I kept to the shadows naturally, avoiding any untoward advances from other High Lords. I tried to stay hidden in my pocket of introvertedness, but then I felt him, and my skin buzzed, like it needed to be touched, to be held.
“You felt it too right?” he purred into the shell of my ear causing the buzzing of my skin to become electric.
“I did,” I admit pathetically.
“And you feel it now too,” he whispers as I finally turn to face him. The violet of his eyes pierce my soul and I’m left speechless and unable to move from their gaze. He’s otherworldly, he’s everything, and he’s also completely forbidden.
“Do you?” I ask, hoping that whatever answer he gives can validate the fire in my bones.
“I do,” he muses like he loves the game. “Your brother killed my family. He is my sworn enemy and I should hate you.” he breathes. I can feel his resolve slipping along with mine, for every statement he makes I can make an opposing one, “but all I want to do is kiss you right now.” he finishes.
Fire runs through my veins as a sharp breath passes my lips. I feel my brother's presence and I evade myself from the High Lord of Night’s cage. My brother whisks me off to the Spring Court once more, but not before I glance back one last time to see that shade of violet I had already learned to look for in a crowd.
That was a week ago.
I stand in the foyer of the castle with my brother and Lucien as we prepare to join the council once again this week.
“You look ravishing as always,” Lucien muses, eyes wandering me like they’re hungry.
“It’s not often my brother lets me out of the house, I have to make a good impression somehow,” I say backhandedly. All I get in return is a sideways glance from Tamiln as we are taken to court. Today the meeting  resides in Tarquins’s court. It changes once a week to allow all High Lord’s to have the upper hand. The sea salted mist hits my face and the warm rays of the sun tan my skin as we walk into the council.
When we arrive he’s already there. He stands out amongst the rest, not just because he’s dressed in black, but because he’s the most beautiful male I’ve ever seen. The definition of a forbidden fruit. As if to tempt me, Tamilin unknowingly  sits directly across from the High Lord of Night making it so I can’t lift my head without meeting the violet of his eyes. If you had asked me to recall the events the council discussed, I couldn’t, the only word left on my tongue was Night. Talk of tithes and power checks drifted over my head. The only thing to rouse me from my trance was the scraping of wooden chairs across marble floors, signaling that the council meeting had adjourned and that the more foundational political talks of High Lords would begin.
I took it as my queue to step out onto one of the many terraces of the Summer Court. The room where the council was held was stifling. I thought that the breeze of the ocean might cool my skin, but no matter where I went that deafening heat followed.
“I was hoping I would see you again,” purred a voice from behind me.
I turned to find that piercing violet once more. “Of course why wouldn’t I be at the council meetings?” I ask, trying to act like I won’t be replaying this conversation in my mind when I return to bed tonight.
“You’ve only been to four council meetings now, and your brother has a habit of keeping you locked up in the Spring Court.” he trails, drawing closer to the railing of which I’m leaning upon.
“Well I intend to be at all of them from here on out,” I state.
“Any particular reason why?” he asks with a playful tone in his voice and I know what he’s insinuating.
“Because I wish to be a part of the governing of my court, even though I am just a woman,” I say, evading his innuendo.
“That’s a shame if you were part of my court you wouldn’t have such phrases like ‘just a woman’” he states almost as if he’s upset with the phrase.
“I highly doubt that, women aren’t equals in any court,” I scoff.
“What about Kallias and Viviane?” he asks.
“What about them?”
“Kallias sees Viviane as his equal, she is his mate and his High Lady,” he explains, stepping even closer to me, close enough that my skin starts to buzz again.
“Viviane is special, everyone knows that,” I justify.
“And you’re not?” he muses and my skin goes from buzzing to electrifying in three words. I feel his fingertips grazing my hand as if asking for permission.
“My Lord we can’t do this,” I breathe out.
“Call me Rhysand,” he says, stepping even closer.
I step to the side, avoiding his advances, “My Lord, I won’t do this, I can’t do this.” I affirm.
I see him bristle from my reluctance to call him by his name, “You’ll give into the idea of us. When you’re lying in that cold bed high up in the spring court thinking of all the ways I could warm it for you. When you’ve spent the week with nothing but this conversation on your mind,” he leans down to whisper in my ear. “This time next week you will beg for me to touch you, and I’ll happily oblige, mate.”
I’m so taken aback by his words that I can’t even form a quick witted response, I simply slid away and tried my best not to look back at him as I felt his gaze pierce my back. I nearly slam into Viviane and Kallias.
“Y/n are you alright?” Viviane asks.
“Yes, just feeling the heat of the summer court,” I lie, fanning my face.
“Then you should come home with us today, it’s been so long since we had a girls night. I wish for your company." She smiles while taking my hand.
“Shall we go home sister?” Tamilin appears, Lucien in tow.
“Actually I think I’ll spend the night in the winter court with Viviane, she’s right,” I look at her and smile. “We haven’t had a girls night in quite a long time.”
“Very well, I won’t get in the way of your sinful gossiping,” Tamilin smiles and leads Lucien away with him.
If the summer court is sea salt and sun, then the winter court is pine and fresh fallen snow. Though they are opposites in every way, they are stunning in their own right, like all courts are. I’ve been here many times before to sit and talk with Viviane, she’s one of the only other ladies of nobility my age and a fierce friend. It’s not uncommon for me to spend a couple days here in the winter court, with Viviane and Kallias.
I sit among a bed of furs near a warm fire adjacent to Viviane as Kallias pours both me and his mate a glass of red wine.
“Thank you dear,” she smiles, kissing him on the cheek before he leaves us to gossip.
“You and Kallias really are a perfect match,” I beam and Vivianane knows me well enough to know that there's a sadness there.
“You’ll find it too someday, your mate. I know you will,” she assures me. “Now tell me, what of Lucien?”
I roll my eyes taking a sip of my wine, “He’s still insufferable. The other day he backed me into a wall and if one of my ladies maids hadn’t walked in I swore he would’ve had his way with me.”
She lets out an airy laugh, “I still can’t believe Tamiln allows him to play with you like that. He’s so fiercely protective of you with everyone else.” she says, taking a sip of her own wine.
“Lucien is his best friend, he wouldn’t deny him anything, even his little sister.” I point out.
“I suppose you’re right,” she smirks. The night is filled with goblets of wine and laughter as we continue to talk about the high lords of Prythian. We even go as far as to talk about her and Kallais’ sex lives, to which Kallias promptly came in laughing taking his wife to bed.
I trudge down the hall to the bedroom the High Lord and Lady had set aside just for me a few years ago. I fall into the plush mattress, the world slightly spinning around me. The second I am left alone with my thoughts I recall the feeling of Rhysand’s breath on my neck and I shiver.
The room spins and I feel my skin grow hot with need, my heart beats faster and my  head is drunk with that shade of violet. My hand subconsciously drifts down my body.
You’re drunk? A voice cuts through my head.
I sit up right and look around the room. The only thing I find is the flickering of the fireplace against the walls.
The same voice chuckles and speaks again, No I am not in the room with you my mate.
“How are you doing this?” I ask in my head.
The daemati gift, and of course, I am your mate. The High Lord croons.
“Get out of my head” I grumble.
But you called for me, I can feel your… excitement.
“Then you're mistaken,” I hiss.
We both know that’s not true darling.
“Goodnight,” I groan, rolling over to go to bed.
Goodnight, darling
The following days are long. Despite my better wishes there is a part of me that yearns to see the High Lord of Night again. I waltz through the spring court, picking flowers for the dinner table and evading Lucien’s advances. At night I find myself obsessively reading the romance novels I keep beside my bed. On one night in particular a certain scene in my book makes my toes curl and my thighs clench. My fingers skim the pages and the roughness of them is almost heightened.
My my my, what a dirty book. That voice croons into my mind.
“Get out of my head,” I gripe.
I can’t help myself when I feel your body react as it does. He purrs.
“How on earth can you ‘feel’ my body?” I roll my eyes.
Like this.
A tug reverberates through my body. Like there’s a string in the pit of my stomach that he just pulled. The sensation causes me to lose a breath as further arousal goes to my legs. He lets out a dark chuckle.
“Don’t ever do that again,” I order him
But you loved it so much, He purrs and I can practically feel him smirking in my head.
“You’re an insufferable bastard High Lord,” I growl at his persistence.
Call me Rhysand.
“I see no reason to drop informalities, my lord.” I quip back.
My name will fall from your lips one day, and when it does I’ll be sure to swallow it with my own. Until then, I’ll leave you with this. Goodnight darling.
I feel another tug at the bond reverberating through me and I nearly let out a moan at the feeling. I snuggle into my sheets that suddenly feel as if they are constricting around my body. I toss and turn and try to push all thoughts from my mind, but I can’t stop the idea of the High Lord's lips on mine. His night black hair in my hands, the way his moans might fall from those lips.
The next morning I take my breakfast in one of the lounge areas, still reeling from last night. My thoughts still wander to the image of his face, and how his eyes light me on fire. The door opens and a head of auburn hair pokes in.
“Forgive me, I didn’t know you were in here,” Lucien says like he has regret, yet he sits down across from me.
“No worries, I'm almost finished eating,” I reply, placing my tea down and getting ready to get up..
“And I secretly hoped to spend some time with you,” he sighs, sinking into the couch.
“Perhaps later, I wanted to read in the garden,” I stand and make my way towards the door.
“Perhaps now,” he growls. I feel a cold hand grasp my arm hauling me into the wall.
“Lucien,” I hiss as my back is pressed into the wall, his frame looming over mine.
“You are such a tease,” he smirks before kissing my neck hungrilly. His hands roam my body pulling me impossibly close.
“I’ve never once given you any inclination that I wanted you,” I gripe at him.
“That’s what makes you so desirable my dear,” he practically moans into my neck.
I gather my strength and push him off of me, “I’ll remind you that I am Tamlin’s little sister and while he favors you his favor only goes so far. One word from me and he’ll send you back to the Autumn Court.” I growl at him, and it seems to be enough as he backs away and leaves me to reel from what just happened in silence.
I sit down on the couch and take deep breaths to ground myself.
What’s going on? Are you alright? That voice like glorious night cuts through my mind and I almost feel thankful for how it brings me back to reality.
“Yes I’m fine,” I say back.
What happened? I felt your fear through the bond.
“It’s nothing, just Lucien.” I dismiss him.
Did he touch you?
I almost swore I heard anger laced in his voice. “Well I am his favorite plaything,” I roll my eyes.
And Tamlin allows him to touch you like this?
“As long as my virtue isn’t completely compromised so that I am still of value when he inevitably marries me off, yes. He doesn’t care.” I divulge, and quite stupidly I realize.
As if I needed another reason to hate him.
“He is still my brother, my Lord,” I remind him, though I secretly feel the same.
Don’t you mean, Rhysand?
“No I don’t, my Lord,” I say, drawing out the last words.
I’ll see you tomorrow my darling, I relish the idea of seeing you in the golden light of the day court.

Closed for maintenance . Leah Williamson × reader
Reader embarks on a new journey with a new club. Part 1.
My day started out like any other in the past 4 weeks. The beeping sound of my alarm wakes me up, I dread the thought of getting up even though I still do, I get my shit together, I leave for training, come back a few hours later and go to bed early.
My days have been blending in ever since that heart shattering break up. However, today had a little twist to it. As I was leaving the gym to go to the physioroom I got called into the Manager's office. Upon getting in, the coach said “hey, so I called you here to let you know that we are going to transfer you. You have been an absolute killer for our team. You will always have a place between us. The thing is your dynamic with the team has been off which has been causing some tension. And the best thing I thought to do was to transfer you this January.” Shock couldn't describe the state I was in. Running on autopilot, I got out of the coach's office, got my things and departed home without talking to anybody, which has been my pattern this past month.
My head was in the clouds for the entire drive, and when I got home I threw myself on the coach and started sobbing. About 20 minutes later I called my best friend the only person I trusted more than anything.
“Hey are you okay? The girls are worried about you, tell me what is going on please”said kristie with a worried tone
“Well tell Sam and the team not to worry anymore. Emma has decided to ruin my life and get rid of me. I won't be at Chelsea anymore. I am basically fired.” I replied, now more angry than sad.
“What the hell are you talking about? Are you transferred where? when? How ? Are you okay? Did you tell her?.” She asked.
“I think it will be announced tomorrow at the meeting. I don't know anything kristie Chelsea is home. Niamh is home. I can't live without them.” I replied, memories of Niamh and I fludding my brain.
“Sure you will. I love you bubs no matter where you go.” She said, “Me too buddy, me too.” I added, sadness creeping into my heart again.
—-------—---—------------------------------------
It has been an eventful week. It was announced that I would leave Chelsea for Arsenal. The topic has been the talk of the town. From newspapers, Instagram pages, fans on Twitter, Arsenal fans were excited to have me. However, Chelsea fans were bitter I was let go. Most of the mean comments were directed at Emma and Chelsea which I thought was fair. I was the leading goal scorer in the WSL and we were on a great track record to win the league again.
I got a new apartment, and a new car. I tried to begin again. A clear slate and a focus on winning with my new team, the gunners.
Today was the first day of practice. The girls are really nice. This team, this family, seem really gelled together and they seem to start getting me out of my dark hole.
“Hello you.” Said Beth, “I hope you are well and I well we want to let you know you are very welcome and we hope you have a great time with us here.” she added. “Me too “ I responded.
__________________________________
It has been over 2 months since that last interaction with Beth, who I can call my best friend now. Her, Steph ,Katie and I have been inseparable. Arsenal have been on a winning streak since I got here. I seem to enjoy the way they play and interact with each other.
The player I enjoy hanging out with the most is my second Captain, which I can never fully admit.
Leah has been fun, heart warming, safe and a friend and a good one. I can't let whatever is happening affect my career again. I dated a teammate before it ruined my career, or so I thought.
“Ladies, how are we feeling about a party? We won again thanks to wonderful strickers. Let's have a party, we deserve it.” Said Katie on the bus. Shortly after a plan was made.
We went to a bar, we drank, sang, danced, and it was that time of the night where I got hungry for warmth. Human connection however unmeaningful. So I kissed the first girl I fancied.
That's when I felt a hand separate me from the girl and drag me outside.
“You are drunk, let's go home before you do anything you will regret.” Said Leah with an angry tone. “ Let go of me, I am lonely. I need this, please let go.” I pleaded with the alcohol affecting my judgment.
“ You are a fool if you think I would let you put yourself in danger. You are important to me, you should know that. Now let's go.” She ordered.
“ I am not going anywhere with you, you are not my girlfriend.” I protested.
That's when she pulled me in for a small kiss. That felt reassuring but not abusive of my drunk state.
“ You are not kissing anyone or going anywhere tonight. Home it is. Now stop complaining and get in please.” She said with a pour on her face. I did as she said, my mind still on the feeling of her lips.
This is going to be a lot to unpack in the morning.

Miles G Morales (42) x Reader

"Boy if you don't stop moving I swear."
Currently it was a Friday night 7 P.M to be exact and Miles needed his hair re-braided. Usually he would ask Mrs. Morales, but she was currently doing overtime at the hospital so it was up to you to do it. However there is just one tiny little problem..miles is VERY tender headed and he would NOT sit still if his life depended on it.
You held the rat-tailed comb to his scalp again attempting to part it into two sections. But not surprised, he moved at the slight movement.
"Ughh milesss" you groan, rubbing your eyes with your palms.
"Ok ok I'm sorry, I'll sit still this time I promise" he says trying to be reasurring
"You said that 4 times already"
There was a small chuckle escaping his lips.
"Oh so you think this is funny? If you move one more time there will be no hugs, kisses or cuddles for a week" you say sternly knowing good and well you don't mean it.
You place gel in between the crooked part and brush it out, slicking it down in the process. Then you continue to braid his hair taking three strands in between your fingers. He flinches every now and then but not as extreme as before. Once you finish the braid you give the boy a hand held mirror to look at it.
"How does it look?" You ask tying a rubber band on the end of the braid to hold it in place.
"Looks better than what my unc did" Letting a hefty laugh escape his lips he hands the mirror back.
"Before you do the other side, can we stretch?" He says craning his neck to look back at you. Almost giving you a begging expression.
You roll your eyes "fine" you say putting down the hair products you were holding.
He gets up from his criss crossed position on the floor and stretches his arms and legs.
"Do you want anything from the kitchen?" He asks letting his back pop from his stretches.
"Just a water please" you request while grabbing your phone to play your Spotify playlist.
"Gotchu"
The boy comes back shortly after holding two room temperature waters in both hands, a bag of (Your favorite chips) in his mouth and a bag of Cheetos in the crevas of his arm. While sitting down he gives you your requested items and you begin to work on his head again.
"Die for you" by The Weeknd begins to play and the reflective moonlight begins to shine throughout the room.

Pinned Post
Hi there! I'm Neural Nets. I make kink content. I specialize in audio content about mind control. I also produce video, make games, and create experimental content for personal massagers.
If I have a kinky vision, I aim to make it real. I learn the tools I need for them.
I made the first content for "bimboization" over a decade ago. It was supposed to be private. It got leaked and cycled into thousands of spicy video dishes. I left the scene and returned to find it EVERYWHERE. That was fucking surreal.
My content is much better now. I learned the tools to make the horny impulses real.
Some of my content is free. You can find free things here, on Discord, on Reddit, on Soundgasm, and on Spotify. My media presence is a bit scattered because of bans and illness, but it's there.
The real archive is on Patreon. That costs money. It doesn't cost very MUCH money, and I think it's well worth it. That's your call, though.
I am definitely over 30. I don't disclose my exact age because hacking. "Over 30" should be enough. If you're hoping I run for US Senate, I appreciate your optimism and mourn its imminent passing.
FAQ:
Do you answer asks?
Yes! I turned off anonymous asks here. Trolls should commit to the bit. That said, I appreciate asks and I answer all of them if they're in good faith.
2. Do you answer DMs?
I leave my DMs on here. I wrestled with that decision.
They're on for: a. people I've known for a while or b. people contacting me about projects, like VAs and spicemakers
Any other questions go to asks.
3. How do I voice act in a Neural Nets production?
You contact me. You'll need to provide a voice sample.
If I cast you, I'll direct you to the casting spreadsheet. It has deadlines. If people miss deadlines, their parts get recast. I can direct, but I can't micromanage your time.
Sometimes, people are very underconfident in their voices, and it makes them feel bad. If that's you, I empathize. I'd be happy to answer questions and give advice! I shouldn't direct you, though. I don't want to unwittingly hurt people by directing.
4. Do you believe your content?
I believe in equality and radical honesty. I unequivocally believe in consent. I wish political and economic systems did too.
I have dark impulses. I like some schtick and some kayfabe. I like trickery and manipulation - in consensual kink.
All my content addresses things that turn me on, but my ethics trump my desire for a host of braintrained pleasers.
5. Do you do AI stuff?
Not really. I've tried machine learning tools. Porn is the cutting edge of new tech, after all.
I like automated tools to generate effects. Purely generated stuff, like image generation? Overall, meh. People make me horny. Mechanized people can make me horny. Machines, by themselves, don't make me horny.
6. Aren't you evil?
No. Some people are bad at reality testing. Some people chase clout. I naively engaged them initially. That was a mistake.
If anyone has beef, they failed to contact me privately. That's the damning mark of clout chasing.
I'm flawed and human, but I'm neither your hero nor your villain.
7. Aren't you dead?
No. In late 2022, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It's partially genetic, so I sorta saw this coming. That was my worst lifelong fear, and it happened.
Fortunately, though, we caught it early and they have banger drugs for it now. Monoclonal antibodies destroyed the misbehaving parts of my immune system. I'm in NEDA, which is like remission.I recovered compromised motor skills through a year of totally brutal and partially self administered physiotherapy. I ate a lot of pavement, so it's a good thing I used to skate.
If you saw me now, you probably wouldn't clock anything. Lucky.
I am annoyed at people who mass reported my last blog shortly after I came out as sick. It takes a special kind of miserable to delight in that. Regardless, I'm back and that's not my problem.
I missed this platform, as completely broken and dysfunctional as it is.
I am glad to be back, and I'm here for any asks.

Master List
Tumblr media
# 30 - Gone Sailing
Dove and Jake got out of his truck and walked through the marina parking lot. When Jake found out that Amelia and Penny had been trying to convince Dove to come sailing with them for months, he accepted their invitation on her behalf.
“I still can’t believe that you never went sailing with them before,” Jake stated, pulling on a pair of his sunglasses. Turning to Dove with a teasing smile, he asked, “You’re not going to tell me that you’re afraid of the water, right? Or that you can’t swim?”
“No,” Dove scoffed, shooting him a look. “I can swim. And I’m not afraid of the ocean.”
“They have life jackets. You’ll be fine. And if anything does happen, I’ll be here to rescue you. Passed swim training with flying colors.”
“Phoenix said that she saw you cry after swim training.”
“Does she have proof?”
“Don’t worry, your big tough guy persona is safe with me,” Dove joked, poking him in the side.
Dove and Jake walked down the dock to Penny’s boat. Theo was trotting around on the deck while Amelia and Penny got ready to set sail. Amelia spotted them first and waved to Dove excitedly, causing Penny to turn around.
“Well, it only took you six months to accept our invitation,” Penny mused, resting her hands on her hips.
“Better late than never,” Dove replied, looking a bit nervous.
She walked on board and was quickly greeted by Amelia, who was very excited that her tutor finally decided to come out for something fun. Jake watched as Dove talked with Amelia and relaxed a bit more. Leaning over to grab a life jacket, Jake felt Penny’s eyes on him. She simply offered him a knowing smile before walking onboard.
They set sail shortly afterwards and the seabreeze quickly cut through any sort of southern California warmth that Dove had when she got on board. Jake sat beside her, both of them staying out of the way of Amelia and Penny as they operated the boat.
“Jesus, it’s cold,” Dove cursed, curling in on herself.
Jake sat calmly, a little cold, but running warm. Holding onto the railing right behind Dove, he stared ahead as the boat rode over the waves. Dove slid back as the boat went over another wave and tucked herself into Jake’s side to keep warm. Jake stared down at her as she shivered, subconsciously curling his body around her more.
“You okay?” he asked, his voice barely loud enough to hear over the wind.
“It’s fucking cold!”
~~~~~~
# 31 - Seen Dolphins in the Wild
Settled in calmer waters and warmer air, Amelia and Dove sat near the bow, chatting and looking down at the water. Jake sat farther back with Penny, asking her questions about how the ship operated. Amelia glanced back at Jake before turning back to Dove.
“Why’s Hangman following you around these days?”
“He’s just helping me with something,” Dove dismissed with a shrug.
“Like as a friend? Or a boyfriend?”
“Life is not a cheesy Netflix movie. He’s just bored.” Dove turned back to Amelia and offered her a smirk. “How’s What’s-His-Face? The surfer kid?”
“Shh!” Amelia stressed, glancing back at her mom before turning back to Dove. “My mom says that she’s ‘fine’ with me hanging out with boys but she’s not.”
“A lot of parents are like that,” Dove told Amelia, nodding along. “It’s usually because they’re worried that you’ll make the same mistakes they did when they were your age.” Dove and Amelia shared a look, quietly doing the math in their heads. “How old was your mom when she met Maverick again?”
Amelia laughed before she caught movement in the water out of the corner of her eye. Grabbing Dove’s arm and shaking it lightly, Amelia pointed at the pod of dolphins that were swimming by. Dove followed her finger and quickly sat up.
“Holy crap,” Dove laughed, watching the dolphins swim with awe. Turning to where Penny and Jake were talking, Dove called out to them. “Jake! Penny! Dolphins!”
Jake walked over to where Dove and Amelia were staring out at the pod of dolphins. He silently marveled at the sight as he stood just a step to Dove’s right.
“Have you ever seen them like this before?” Jake asked her, referring to the dolphins.
“No,” Dove admitted, turning to look at Jake. “Have you?”
“No.”
“Hmm,” Dove mused, smiling as Jake met her gaze. “Maybe you need a list of your own.”
“Maybe one day,” he agreed softly before they turned back to the dolphins.
~~~~~
# 32 - Gone Rollerblading
After returning to shore, Jake and Dove started walking down the adjacent boardwalk. And when Dove saw a rental place for rollerblades, she had her next idea.
“Are you sure that you’re up for this?” Jake asked, handing her a helmet.
“I only rented them for twenty minutes,” Dove pointed out, tying up the rollerblades. Taking the helmet from Jake, she pulled it on. “I need to stop being scared. I mean, if I stayed scared of going on the boat with Penny and Amelia, I never would have seen the dolphins. I need to try new things.”
“Alright,” Jake agreed, standing in front of her. “Just take it slow.”
He offered Dove his hands and helped her to stand up with her skates on. When Dove nearly slipped to the ground, Jake quickly wrapped his arms around her waist. Dove gripped his biceps as she got her bearings, growing a bit warm in her cheeks.
“I’ll be fine,” she insisted, releasing him.
~~~~~
# 33 - Been to the Beach First Aid Stand
“If I hear the phrase ‘I told you so’ come out of your mouth,” Dove warned Jake as he helped her along the boardwalk.
“Come on. There’s a first aid station up ahead.”
Dove was a little worse for wear. No bones were broken and she wasn’t in any kind of excruciating pain, but her knees were certainly banged up. Jake held Dove up with one arm, not trusting her on her own, and knocked on the door to the lifeguard stand.
~~~~~
# 34 - Had Pistachio Ice Cream
“Ice cream makes everything better,” Jake suggested as they left the first aid stand.
“Unless you’re lactose intolerant,” Dove pointed out, causing Jake to turn to her.
“You’re lactose intolerant?”
“No, I’m not,” Dove stated, frowning a little bit. “You saw me eat a pint of Ben & Jerry’s with Bob two weeks ago.”
“Good. Then pick a flavor that you’ve never tried before,” Jake stated, pointing at the list posted at the front of the stand.
Dove looked over the list of flavors, mentally checking off the ones that she had and picking from the rest of the flavors.
“I guess I’ll try pistachio.”
Jake ordered two ice creams, a pistachio for Dove and a chocolate one for him, before walking over to the table that Dove picked. Placing the cup of pistachio ice cream down in front of her, he took his seat and offered her a smile.
“For your troubles. And your injury.”
“Thanks,” Dove replied quietly, still embarrassed.
She took a spoonful of pistachio ice cream in her spoon and slowly brought it to her mouth, taking a tentative lick. Dove took a moment, testing the flavor, before nodding.
“Not bad,” she stated, turning back to Jake.
“See? Maybe things can surprise you.”
~~~~~
# 35 - Gone to a Boardwalk Fair
Dove and Jake continued on their way after they finished their ice cream. Jake was listening to Dove talk about some more ideas that she had for her list when he spotted an ad posted on a light stand. He took a step over, drawing Dove’s attention, and read the details.
“What about this?” Jake suggested, pointing at the posters.
Dove stepped up beside him and looked over the ad for a boardwalk fair a few towns over. Turning back to Jake, she nodded and smiled softly.
“Yeah, I’m sure that we can find things there that I haven’t done before.”
~~~~~
# 36 - Eaten a Corndog
“You brought me all the way out here to eat a corndog?” Dove asked Hangman as he held one out to her.
“Stop stalling and take a bite.”
Dove sighed and took the corndog from him. She glanced down at the corndog with distaste before taking a small bite off the tip. Chewing it, she studied the corndog again as Jake waited for her reaction.
“Weird texture, but not too bad. You can finish it though.”
~~~~~
# 37 - Eaten a Bug
Dove cupped a few crispy grasshoppers in her hand and held them out to Jake. Though he looked concerned himself, Jake reached out and grabbed one. Dove grinned and held up a cricket of her own. She jokingly clinked their crickets together, like they were clinking drinks after work, before bringing the cricket to her mouth.
“Cheers,” she exclaimed before popping it into her mouth.
Jake stared down at the cricket for a moment before slowly putting it into his mouth and chewing tentatively. Dove grinned as she watched Jake try to hide his grimace. Finishing her cricket quickly, Dove poked Jake in the side.
“Don’t forget, spitters are quitters.”
Completely unprepared for that phrase to come out of Dove’s mouth, Jake started to cough and choke. Dove’s teasing smile dropped as Jake hit his chest with his fist.
“Are you alright?” she asked him worriedly, resting a hand on his shoulder.
“Fine,” Jake wheezed, coughing again.
~~~~~
# 38 - Gotten Your Fortune Read
“Now this might actually be the dumbest thing you’ve thought of so far,” Dove complained as Jake dragged her over to the tent. “You know that it’s all crackpot nonsense.”
“That’s not the point. We’re exposing you to new experiences,” Jake drawled, gesturing for Dove to sit down.
Rolling her eyes, Dove sat down and waited for the fortune teller. Jake stepped out of the room to give them ‘spiritual space’ and the woman stepped out from behind the curtain a few moments later. She greeted Dove before sitting behind her crystal ball. The fortune teller gave Dove and overview of what to expect before she began.
“I see . . .”
“A glass ball?” Dove muttered quietly to herself.
“I see some struggle in your future,” the fortune teller replied, causing Dove to raise an eyebrow. “You have some great trials before you.”
“Don’t we all?”
“Your life could be in danger.”
“Oh, dear,” Dove feigned concern.
“I see some balloons.”
“What color are these balloons?”
“Multicolored, dear. And I see a lion.”
“A lion?”
“Yes, and then a screw. It seems to have fallen, putting you at risk,” the fortune teller continued, pausing as she closed her eyes. “But you’ll survive, my dear. And a man will be right there to hold your hand and comfort you through it.”
“Well, I hope he’s handsome,” Dove replied sarcastically, offering a forced smile. “Or rich.”
“Or both,” the fortune teller added, causing Dove to nod. “That’ll be ten dollars, dear.”
~~~~~
# 39 - Won a Prize at the Fair
“You’ve never played a fair game?” Jake admonished Dove, who scoffed.
“I played one when I was a kid, but they’re all scams! Like that fortune teller.”
“Did you win anything?” he asked, causing Dove to shake her head. “Then let’s go.”
“Jake, it’s pointless. And a waste of money.”
“Well, I don’t lose.”
Hangman scanned the games in the area before selecting the darts booth. The attendant, who seemed to have given up on caring, handed Jake some darts and gestured to the moving multicolored balloons behind him. Dove stood to the side as Jake lined up his shots. Tossing the darts and popping the balloons, Jake turned to the attendant.
“Pick any from that wall,” the attendant sighed, gesturing to a whole bunch of stuffed animals.
“I’ll take the lion,” Jake decided, causing Dove to pick her head up.
“What?” she breathed out.
The attendant handed Jake the stuffed lion and Jake immediately handed it over to Dove, who stared up at him with wide eyes. Staring down at the lion like she was honestly waiting for it to bite her, Dove just let Jake steer her along with him.
~~~~~
# 40 - Ridden a Fair Ferris Wheel
“I’m not convinced that this would pass a safety inspection,” Dove remarked as the ferris wheel started to ascend.
“You’ll be fine. It’ll take like five minutes and then we’ll move on.”
“What idea do you have next?” Dove asked Jake curiously.
“I had a couple different ones. Are you hungry or did you want to actually go do something?”
“Maybe something—”
Dove gripped the safety bar with a tense grip as the ferris wheel came to a screeching halt. And then she swore that she heard a screw or nail or something clink against the metal frame of the ride. Turning to Jake with wide eyes, Dove tried to not panic.
“Don’t worry. They’re probably just letting more people on,” Jake assured Dove calmly.
~~~~~
# 41 - Gotten Stuck on a Ferris Wheel
Ten Minutes Later . . .
“Sorry, folks, but it seems that the ride is having some technical difficulties. We’re working on resolving it as quickly as we can.”
“You were saying?” Dove hissed to Jake, still with a tight grip on the safety bar.
“I’m sure that it’ll just be a little bit longer,” Jake replied, though he didn’t look convinced by his own words anymore. He looked over the side and tilted the cart a little bit, causing Dove to tense up.
“Stop moving! You’re going to tip it!”
“It’s not that—”
“—Please, just don’t tip it,” Dove pleaded softly, closing her eyes.
“Are you afraid of heights?” Jake asked quietly, staring at Dove with concern.
“I’m not afraid of heights. I’m afraid of falling from heights. And that stupid fortune teller said that my life could be in danger and she already got too many other things right and now I’m afraid that I’m going to fucking die falling from this piece of shit ride.”
“Why didn’t you say something earlier?”
“Because I thought she was a crackpot and I thought this ride was going to last three minutes.”
“Have you always been afraid of heights?”
“Have you always been this bad at knowing basic facts about other people?” Dove snapped back, still with her eyes screwed shut.
“Maybe,” Jake returned, studying her posture. “Just breathe.”
“I am breathing.”
“You know what I mean.”
“Jake,” Dove warned him.
“Then just keep talking to me. If you’re talking to me, you’re not focused on that.”
“What the hell am I supposed to talk about?”
“Anything. I don’t know.” Jake glanced down before turning back to Dove. “I’m starting to realize that we don’t actually know that much about each other.”
“I know plenty about you,” Dove replied quietly.
“Like what?”
“You were born in Austin, Texas. Because you can’t stop fucking talking about Texas. Honestly, I’ve never met someone from Texas who didn’t announce that they were from Texas within fifteen minutes of me meeting them. What the hell is that all about?”
“Alright, what else do you know?”
“You’re the youngest of four. You have three older sisters. Julia, Jordan, and Jenna. You’re the baby of your family and the only boy. And I didn’t need anything beyond a fifteen second interaction with you to know that, actually.”
“Harsh,” Jake mumbled.
“Your mom’s name is Mary and your dad’s name is also Jacob. Your dad runs his own small business and your mom works down at the local school. You have five or six nieces and nephews and you’re the only one that’s not married yet.”
“How the hell do you know all this stuff?” Jake asked, causing Dove to hiss.
“Because! I! Listen! That thing where people close their mouths and let other people talk!” Gripping the safety bar a little less, Dove added in a softer tone, “You talk about your family all the time. They send you care packages. Of course, I know about them.”
“Do you know this stuff about everyone on the team?”
“Are you going to quiz me?”
“Would that make you feel better?”
“Would that make you feel better?”
“Alright, fine,” Jake sighed, throwing in the towel with that one. Turning back to Dove and studying her for a moment, he asked softly, “What about you?”
“What about me?”
“Tell me your story then. You seem to know mine, so it’s only fair.”
“What do you want to know?”
“Everything.”
“Everything?”
“Just something to pass the time and get your mind off of things. I’ll work on my listening skills. You can quiz me afterwards, if it’ll make you feel better.”
Dove sighed, clearly thinking that this was a stupid idea. But between the fact that she was still stuck in the air and Jake was definitely not going to let it go, she caved. Taking a deep breath, she tried to figure out where to start.
“I’m the oldest of six.”
“Six?”
“Technically, all of my siblings are my half-siblings. Mom’s side. My dad never had any kids after he and my mom got divorced. My mom remarried a month after the papers were signed.”
“How old were you when they got divorced?”
“Four when they separated. And six when it was finalized.” After a moment, she added, “And if you even think about using the phrase ‘I’m sorry,’ I will push you off of this ride.”
“Noted.”
“I lived with my mom most of my childhood. My dad worked a lot and after my mom got remarried, she was stay-at-home, so it just made sense. But I’m closer with my dad than my mom because my mom . . . she doesn’t do well with people that she doesn’t understand. She doesn’t argue, she just tells you over and over again that she’s right. It wears on you after a while. And we’re just very different people.”
Jake nodded slowly as Dove thought through her next words carefully.
“I was too shy, too timid to be the daughter that she really wanted. That was my sister Michelle.”
“Are you close with your siblings?”
“Some of them. Michelle and I don’t get along. She’s my mom’s favorite and everyone, especially her, knows it. I’m the closest with my sister Phoebe. We’re fairly similar. And Brendan, my only brother, insists that I know the latest memes so that I don’t embarrass him. But I’m not too close with my youngest sisters, Nikki and Tillie. They’re twins.”
Dove opened her eyes and turned back to Jake, her grip noticeably lighter on the safety bar. If Jake noticed that, he didn’t mention it.
“So, you’re closer with your dad then?”
“Yeah. He’s the chief of his fire station and he’s going to work until he literally cannot physically get out of bed anymore. I tell him to slow down, but he doesn’t listen. And I know that he wouldn’t hesitate to pick up my call and come help me.” Smiling softly, Dove added, “He drove eight hours through the night to be there for my dissertation presentation.”
“He must be very proud of you,” Jake commented softly, causing Dove to nod.
“Yeah, but he’s always worried about me. He didn’t want me to go into this industry.”
“Why?” Jake asked, confused.
“Well, physics isn’t exactly the most welcoming industry for women. And then I started working as a civilian contractor for the Navy and he almost had a heart attack over it.” Dove paused before turning to Jake. “I think that he was also annoyed that I was working with the Navy and not the Air Force.”
“Your dad was in the Chair Force?”
“Don’t call it that,” Dove sighed, giving Jake a light nudge. “And yes, he was. It was part of the whole reason why he and my mom got married and had me. Well, technically, he knocked my mom up first and then he married her, but still.” Pointing a threatening finger at Jake, Dove added, “And if you even think about calling me an oopsie baby—”
“—You’ll push me off the side?” Jake surmised, causing Dove to grin.
“What do you know? You can listen.”
Two Hours Later . . .
The sun had set and most of the fair had cleared out. And even though it was southern California, the ocean chill had pushed Dove away from the safety bar and into Jake’s side to keep warm. He rested his arm around her waist to keep her safe and relaxed.
“Favorite . . . non-dairy milk?” Dove suggested, pulling at absolute straws.
“I only drink real milk,” Jake sighed, staring down at the mechanics working on the ride.
“But what if you become lactose intolerant?”
“That doesn’t happen.”
“It does happen. All the time actually.”
“What’s yours then?”
“Oat,” Dove mumbled tiredly, her head resting against his shoulder.
“I’ll go with oat milk then, I guess.”
“Have you ever tried it?”
“No, but I trust your judgment.”
“Your turn,” Dove reminded him, poking him in the side.
“Favorite . . . type of french fry?”
“Thin and crispy with a little bit of salt. In-and-Out fries,” Dove stated, just as her stomach started to growl. “If we ever get down from here, I’m going to need a big bucket of french fries. And a drink.”
“Why stop at one?” Jake mused, causing Dove to smile to herself.
The ride suddenly jolted and Jake and Dove quickly grabbed onto each other as a reflex. Dove fisted Jake’s shirt and Jake tightened his hold on her waist, pulling her even closer to him. They held their breath and after a moment, the ride started to move again.
“Holy shit, we’re free,” Dove breathed out, releasing Jake’s shirt. But Jake was a lot slower to release his arm around her waist.
~~~~~
# 42 - Tried Whiskey
After being freed from their mid-air prison, Dove and Jake went out to dinner together at a pub just down the street. And Dove was very content to find that the fries that the pub offered were thin, light, and crispy. And Jake was relieved that they had whiskey.
“You don’t normally order whiskey,” Dove noted as the waiter walked off with their menus.
“I only order it if I have a long day,” Jake admitted, taking a sip. Placing the glass down, Jake slid it towards Dove. “You want to try it?”
“I’ve never had whiskey before.”
“Well, now you definitely should try it.”
Dove reached out for the glass and took a tentative sip. Jake laughed as she wrinkled her nose and slowly placed it back down, looking like she regretted her decision.
“I’ll just stick with what I know.”
~~~~~
# 43 - Made a Toast
“Speech,” Jake joked, causing Dove to smile and reach for her drink.
“I’d like to make a toast to never going on fair rides ever again and to the fact that I’m very thankful that all of the planes that we work in and around actually have real safety standards,” Dove toasted, lifting up her drink.
“To safety standards,” Jake agreed, clinking their drinks together. As he set his glass back down, Jake asked, “You want to knock some more ones off the list tomorrow? We came up with plenty of ideas.”
“Actually, Nat said that she’s taking me out,” Dove stated, picking up some of her french fries. “But I’ll add whatever we do to the list.”
“Just be careful.”
Dove snorted. “It’s Nat. I’ll be fine.”
Gale has me in a chokehold, I love his nerdy ass. If you're accepting requests, can I request some angst but then fluff with him? It may just be my own insecure self, but what if his fem Tav still felt insecure and not worthy of him after he spoke to Mystra? Like she tries to smile and nod, but she's actually worried he still has feelings for Mystra?
hiii! so i wanted to actually get to this part before writing for it so i could experience full context instead of just watching a yt vid (200 hrs in the game and i *just* got there... albeit it was with durge tav in an evil playthru (one of like 4 playthrus i've started cause i have no self control), but i got there nonetheless) so sorry for taking a while!! but here you go ^^
Tumblr media
"Back on mortal soil once more," he exhales, eyes slightly narrowed in a tense discomfort. He doesn't meet your eye, and his lips part in a doubtful smile, as if he isn't sure whether he's awake or experiencing some sort of dream. He blinks, and meets your gaze, his smile dimming – you’re not sure if it’s the result of a forced calmness, or a natural relaxation in his muscles. “I can’t believe I saw her– after all this time,” he nearly chuckles the statement out, and you suppress a cringe, desperately scanning his features for reassurance before you allow yourself to grow unreasonably anxious.
But he seems caught in a state of wonder, his eyes bearing an uncommon light in them – perhaps due to the astral scenery he just returned from, or, more likely, it could be an emotional occurrence. Either way, it stings, and you hate the way your stomach churns, hanging onto what feels like a thinning thread. He’s grown closer and closer to rejecting her, every new discovery being one more small, but necessary, push away from his faith, from any lingering feelings of affection for the goddess.
You couldn’t help but feel as though this was a setback. That, maybe, seeing her again, speaking with her again – maybe it reminded him of a time that you knew he missed. A time that, prior to your relationship with him and a few important facts he’d learned about her, he spoke so incredibly fondly of. He stays quiet, pondering the conversation, and you only feel your fearful anticipation growing more with his silence.
In an effort to break it, you muster up enough courage to speak. “A little intimidating,” you try to chuckle, but it only comes out as a painfully stressed hum, followed shortly by an intense urge to withdraw from the conversation, but you manage to override your anxiety’s desires.
Gale does manage to chuckle, again, nearly effortlessly – especially compared to your own failed attempt. “Powerful, wasn’t it? Magical, just– entirely magical,” he practically swoons, and you force a smile, tearing your gaze away from him. He continues speaking, and usually you’d be keen on listening to his every word, but you can’t help but tune him out. Even so, you can still hear the excitement in his tone, despite refusing to pick up on the words.
You’re not sure how long he continues for, though you know it ends, because you feel fingers on your chin, and he angles your head slightly back towards him, forcing your attention back to him. He’s wearing a frown now, and you blink, pulling your head away from his touch. “Sorry. Just – not feeling well.”
“Not feeling well? Damn it, I knew that meat platter was a foul idea. Tavern hardly held a shine, I’m hesitant to believe their appetizers were truly safe for consumption. We should return to camp.” He nods, lowering his hand and offering it to you, and although you feel bad for not disproving his assumptions, you take his hand and go along with the lie, walking back towards your camp.
It isn’t a very long walk, which is most fortunate; you’re hardly eager to strike up conversation, and had it been any longer of a journey, you’re sure that Gale would question your silence. Eventually, you return, and the area is empty, save for the usual occupants that never really left camp. Everyone else was out either exploring the city, settling down for food, finding entertainment, or bargaining with merchants to pawn off the unnecessary equipment they’d picked up.
Gale didn’t bother making a request or saying anything before immediately leading you to his tent, directing you to sit on one of the few cushions that littered the blue rug on the floor. You did as he asked, and he looked around the camp, focusing more on the area around Shadowheart’s tent, though his search for her was ultimately fruitless, so instead he knelt before you, the back of his hand pressing against your forehead. “Not particularly warm, certainly not alarmingly so – though I’m no medic, I do believe I’ve enough experience to deem you unafflicted by any fever. What are your symptoms?”
“Symptoms?” You repeat, and Gale squints, clicking his tongue.
“Mental fogginess,” he remarks, and you finally shake your head, looking off to the side.
“I’m not sick,” you confess, knowing that he’s bound to ask questions, but deciding you’d rather be honest than have him worry about your physical well-being.
“Now, there’s no reason to hide it. I’m sure that even a divine being would have gotten some strand of illness from that – what was it? A space hamster? And a mighty undercooked one, at that. I’m merely glad you’re still conscious,” he teases, leaning forward and holding your chin, giving you a quick kiss on the forehead.
You pull back, shaking your head once more. “I’m serious. I’m not sick. I just – I don’t know,” you sigh, scooting back and frowning. “It’s a lot to take in, isn’t it? All that stuff with Mystra?”
Gale eases back, reading your expression a second time to ensure you weren’t trying to deceive him. Once he’s sure, he lowers himself fully to his knees, and then grabs another cushion for himself to sit on. He thinks over your words, and ultimately nods. “Indeed. Rather unsettling. To now know that the weave I’ve had inside of me for so long is nothing more – and always has been nothing more – than a mystery to me, it’s… unsettling,” he repeats, bending a knee and placing his elbow on it, his thumb running over the hairs on his jaw.
“She’s been lying to you,” you murmur, and Gale eyes you, his expression that of some internal conflict. A conflict you fear you may be losing, even if he’d never admit it to you.
“As sadistic as it may appear, she had her reasons. Reasons we may never grasp or understand, but reasons, I’m sure. It’s no matter. Granting my disease a name does little to change said disease – or the expectations that come along with it. If I please her, if I fulfill her request of me, I will be rid of it. Free. At last. Though her actions may seem tyrannical to most, you must understand that it is quite a generous offer she is granting me,” he explains, his head tilting as he watches your reaction, though you’re putting too much effort into disguising your true concerns for him to pick up on them.
“Are you going to give it to her?” You ask, silently pleading for a denial -- for a firm and unwavering ‘No.’
“Of course. I have to,” he chuckles nervously, and whatever hope may have been contained in your expression quickly fades, and you have to break eye contact with him. “My love, this may be my only means of safety. Of securing a future. Should I refuse her, my very life would be on the line. And the miracles that have kept this orb from rupturing thus far – Mystra’s miracles, might I add – I would be left completely without.” He reaches forward, taking a hold of your hands, and you begrudgingly look back at him. “How could I possibly deny the chance at a future with you? I would be a madman.”
His words ease you, even if the effect is incredibly slight. You squeeze his hands, and he squeezes back, his small smile brimming with hope. It’s a pleasant emotion to see him with – one that you haven’t truly seen before. The closest has been eagerness, such as the kind he displayed when you learned of, and eventually obtained, the very book that caused this meeting with his goddess. “What if she forgives you?” You whisper, your insecurity underlining every syllable, and if you weren’t so afraid, your shame would have surely manifested in the color on your cheeks.
Gale pauses, his eyebrows pushing inward as he processes your words a few times over. “If she forgives me?”
“If she calls on you to be her chosen. If you give her the crown, and she excuses your disputes. I want a future with you too, I do. I just… fear a future haunted by her. I want you, exactly as you are.” You inhale, and it’s shaky, but it’s too late to turn back now. “If she forgives you, will you be at her beck and call?”
He smiles again, but it’s nearly a smile of pity. A smile that instills you with a pinch in your throat, daring you to cry. One of his hands slips out of yours, and for a moment, you believe that this is it – that he’ll confess his plans to return to her side, to embrace his faith once more, to leave you behind at the assurance of greener, holier, pastures. But instead, his hand tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, and then holds the right side of your face, his hold warm and comforting. “Once I am cured, once all of this is over – the only person I wish to be ‘chosen’ by is you. I confess that, had I not met you, the outcome may be different.”
Despite the small, mildly reassured smile on your face, and your leaning into his palm, you still contain some worry for the future. And so, against the understanding that you should know better than to wonder, you ask “Different how?”
He sighs, squeezing your hand again. “Before the tadpoles, before you, before any of this – I had always believed that I’d never be free of her influence. She occupied my mind much like our little larva pilots do now. To control the weave – to channel and embrace the weave is to embrace Mystra. Pieces of her, at least. Though it’s hard to feel a piece of her and not reflect on a time when I could feel all of her. Had I any choice in the matter, I would remove her completely from my life. But I am no man without my past, and even less of one without the magic that I have been so consistently entwined with. And yet, it’s with you that I feel unburdened by her expectations, by her authority and judgment.” Gale leans forward, and you do too, your forehead against his. His eyes close, and yours do as well, merely enjoying the closeness, and the gentleness in his tone, the comfort that his words bring. “With you I forget my goddess. I forget my past, I forget my flaws, I forget my mistakes. I have a purpose now. One beyond being a vessel. One beyond being a subservient lapdog for the will of a deity.”
When you open your eyes, you find Gale’s open as well, and he watches your lips, debating something. You grant him a moment to think, and he decides to act, pulling you a little closer for a chaste kiss, allowing it to linger before he pulls back once more, the curl of his lips more assured now.
“I would suffer at the hands of her fate a thousand times over if it meant finding you again in just one life. You, dearest, are the one who my heart worships. Even if I speak the tongue of the weave or spin her spells, I know what love truly is – unparalleled, earnest, generous love – because of you, and only you. Should Mystra find herself munificent enough to shell out a fragment of forgiveness for me, she will, quite quickly, understand I have no interest in being her compliant plaything anew. If Elminster is a case that instills any flavor of wariness, I do believe I’d be better off without such an expansive lifespan, and… intense enthrallment in cheese,” he chuckles, pulling a laugh from you as well. When that laugh trails off, he cuts it short with a kiss, this one lasting a little longer than the one prior.
“Just us two, then? After all of this?” You ask when the kiss is broken, and he smirks, shrugging.
“Us two and my Tressym, of course. I promise that she’s much better company than a goddess.”
“Of course. I can certainly live with that."
Noldor Hair Headcanons (3/4)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | On AO3
Some lighter Kidnap Fam content, after the downhill freefall that was the last chapter. With a dash of Finrod in Valinor.
Elrond and Elros have never had their hair braided when they end up with Maedhros and Maglor.
They don’t realize what they’re asking when Elros grabs a hairbrush and puts it in Maglor’s hand.
Maglor understands that, but decides that the twins need parental care, even though he has no right. He brushes their hair and leaves it loose at first.
But the twins have watched Maglor braid Maedhros’s hair and they soon start asking for more interesting hairstyles.
Eventually Maglor explains to them that it can only be done by family.
The twins have a whole silent conversation.
“What does it take to be family?” Elros asks eventually.
Well, braiding an unrelated child’s hair is pretty close to informal adoption.
Elros forces the brush into Maglor’s hand again.
Maglor stares.
Elrond shakes his head and runs out.
Of course, Elrond must hate them. He has every right. Sure, Elros has started to warm up to them, but that’s just because he’s affection-starved, probably. They’re still kidnappers.
Maglor is about to put down the brush and try to refuse when Elrond comes back.
He’s holding a second hairbrush.
He hands it to Maedhros expectantly.
Maedhros cries.
Maglor cries.
The twins’ hair really doesn’t hold braids very well, and they’re still kids who run around and play, but damn them if Maglor and Maedhros aren’t going to do their best.
Now all of their people can see that the twins are well-loved.
Maedhros and Maglor also proudly sport a few clumsy, wonky braids each.
They’re less wonky with time, and eventually the twins are doing their fathers’ (kidnappers’) hair as often as not.
Finrod is reembodied shortly before Eärendil and Elwing gets to Valinor. It’s too early and he’s Not Doing Well. While in Middle Earth, he was the one who let basically every one of his friends braid his hair, now he can’t stand the thought of someone touching him that way.
But Beleriandic battle braids feel wrong in Tirion. And he’s desperately trying to reckon with his trauma, with Sauron defeating him by singing about the kinslaying, so he can’t leave his hair loose like the Teleri.
And he can’t quite get the sight of Edrahil’s bloody braids spat out by a werewolf out of his head.
He wears nothing but the very strange-looking (to Amanyar) Mourning Braids he designed after Dagor Bragollach for a couple of years.
Then after an episode of really bad depression and nearly fading, he cuts his hair short.
No-braiding-possible kind of short.
While not unheard of in Beleriand (sometimes former thralls keep their hair very short, like Rog), it’s unthinkable in Valinor, especially for the Crown Prince of the Noldor.
He is stared at a lot, his reputation goes down the drain, but to Finrod it’s liberating.
He does let his hair grow out again eventually, but only when other Exiles start coming back and choose to keep the Beleriandic braid styles, and it becomes a fashion statement rather than a mark of shame.
Finarfin is Very Shocked arriving in Beleriand when he finds his (single remaining) child with her hair loose and everyone else with weird self-braided battle hairstyles.
After a battle or three where he ends up with his hair matted with blood and mud, he caves and gets Galadriel to give him battle braids.
By the end of the war he’s even learned to do them himself! Let it not be said that King Arafinwë Ñoldóran didn’t rise to his calling.
The night before sending the Elrond and Elros to Gil-galad, Maedhros and Maglor undo all of their braids. Everyone cries.
Maedhros and Maglor meant this to minimize the ‘taint’ their names would put on the twins, by making it look like they were still hostages to the end, but the twins stop on the way to do each other’s hair because one does not meet a king with their hair loose, they have manners (which the Fëanorians taught them, so they’re Very Specific Manners), so the effect is lost. Gil-galad has Questions. The twins refuse to lie.
Then, before going to steal the Silmarils, Maedhros and Maglor do each other’s hair, in a style of their father’s that they haven’t worn since the Oath.
Maglor braids a single golden ribbon into Maedhros’s hair.
They have very few pieces of hair jewellery left of their brothers’, but they use all of them.
They both know it’s the last time.
To be continued
I did some sketches for visual reference of a few of the hairstyles mentioned here, if you want to see what I'm imagining!
A/N: For everyone wondering why this chapter isn't going as you thought...I'm currently working on chapter 4👀🤭~🌙
PART ONE | PART THREE
"You're not mad?" Minho asks and tilts his head at him.
"We've talked about this, baby. I could tell you like her more than a friend, and she's so desperate for love she doesn't pick up on a damn signal," he rolls his eyes at you. "I knew one day I'd come home, and you'd tell me you met someone. It's even better knowing it's my best friend."
Minho's face softens, and he visibly relaxes. "And you're okay with that?"
Chan smiles at him fondly. "I am very okay with that."
“Great…because there’s more,” Minho nods gently, and Chan frowns at him.
“More?” he asks puzzled.
Minho meets your eyes and nods encouragingly. "I…I know I've been a complete bitch yesterday," you start gently, making your way over to the table.
"You were," Chan nods, still not quite forgiving you for treating Minho that shitty.
"It's because I was jealous," you confess.
"Jealous? You mean of me because I'm Minho's boyfriend?" he asks, frowning softly.
"And jealous of me because I'm your boyfriend," Minho clarifies, and Chan's frown deepens.
"I've been in love with you for years, Chan," you admit quietly. "I gave up on that, and then I met Minho and developed a crush on him."
"Oh." Chan breathes out, eyes widening.
"And then you told her we're a couple." Minho nods.
"Yeah," you nod and anxiously rub your arm, sitting down at the table with them. "Like, what's the chance the two guys I fell for become boyfriends instead?"
Minho giggles. "Mhm sounds frustrating."
"It was," you nod and chew your lower lip, glancing at your hyung. "Chan I…I still have feelings for you too."
Chan nods very gently and rubs the back of his neck, glancing from you to Minho and back. "I uhm…what's the plan here?"
Minho steps in, placing his hand on Chan's resting on the table. "I told you I'm open to having more than one partner…she would be too. That doesn't mean you have to be, and I don't want you to feel pressured or anything," he says, and Chan searches his eyes observantly. You watch them anxiously, feeling like you're intruding even though this is about you just as much.
"Phew, okay," Chan nods very slowly, looking at you shortly. He can tell you're desperate to hear his answer and wishes he could give you what you want to hear. Sighing, he closes his eyes for a moment before focusing on Minho again. His boyfriend's kind smile and understanding eyes give him a sense of safety in this new situation. "I…I don't think I'm ready for all this," Chan gently shakes his head, and your heart drops slightly. He sighs and turns to look at you. "I love you too, I have for years," he says, a gentle smile covering his face. "But…"
"Not like that," you nod, swallowing hard.
"No, that's not it," Chan shakes his head and squints his eyes at you for a second. "I'm-I love you, actually, but…I'm not ready."
"Okay," you whisper, swallowing down tears bravely.
"It's not you; it's the job and what comes with it. I'm still not very used to Min and me hiding all the time," he says, looking back at him, his smile saddening a little. "I don't think I can handle having to hide two partners right now, it's…it's too much and…oh, darling, please don't cry," he ends with a whisper, as he looks back at you and sees a big tear falling down your cheek. "God, I'm so sorry," he says and gets up, stepping behind you and pulling you against his chest. He kisses your cheek softly and leans his head against you, meeting Minho's eyes. "I love you, okay?"
"Love you too," you nod and gently pat his arms, which are wrapped around your chest.
"I need some time to figure this out, okay?" Chan asks gently, and you nod again, swallowing hard. "This is all very new to me, starting with the fact that you have feelings for me too. I didn't think you did. Also, I'm…I never really thought about having multiple partners, dear."
"It's fine," you promise, quickly wiping away another tear.
Chan squeezes you tightly and gently rocks you in his arms. "I'll figure this out, I promise," he says, and you can do nothing but nod. "I love you so much, Y/N. Don't forget that while I do," he tells you and places a gentle kiss on your shoulder.
Minho joins the two of you and cups your face, soothingly caressing your cheeks. "Maybe it's better this way for now," he says and gives you an encouraging smile. "After all, the two of us have enough to figure out on our own for now."
"Yeah," you nod and exhale deeply. "I need a moment," you say and squeeze Chan's arms for him to let go of you.
Chan stares after you, deep in thought, and almost reacts a little startled as Minho steps next to him, rubbing his shoulder. "Minnie baby?" he asks quietly.
"Yes, love?" Minho asks patiently.
"I didn't just fuck that up, right?" he asks anxiously.
Minho shakes his head and steps in front of him. "Look at me," he says softly, and Chan's worried chocolate orbs meet his own calm ones. "I'm proud of you."
"What?" he asks confused.
"You made sure to set your boundaries even if it meant hurting her for now," he says, and Chan's eyes flicker away guiltily. "Hey," he gently grabs his chin and makes him look at him again. "It's important, and she knows you love her nevertheless."
"I didn't want to hurt her," he says and anxiously chews on his lower lip. "It's just…I don't even know right now if I still love her like that."
Minho lovingly fondles his lip with his thumb, easing it out from between his teeth. "Remember this?" he says, gently taking Chan's hand and placing it on his chest right above his heart. Chan smiles softly and grabs Minho's hand, placing it on his chest. "Your feelings are valid. Your comfort matters. You have to listen to yourself first."
Chan nods along, exhaling softly, and feels the pressure of keeping up an act until everyone else is happy falling off him. He can feel Minho's heart beating beneath the palm of his hand, Minho's hand spreading warmth on his chest. "Thank you," he whispers.
Minho covers his hand with the other and rubs mindless patterns against his skin. "You feel that?" he asks, speaking of his heartbeat, and Chan nods. "As long as this is beating, I'll be right there reminding you of these things and loving you with every fiber of my body."
Chan's face breaks into a sweet smile, dimples accentuating his face. "I love you too, Minnie."
"I know you do," he smiles softly. "Which is why I'll respect you taking your time, and I promise I won't pressure you because I trust you."
Chan smiles and presses their foreheads together. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Stop that," he giggles and takes Chan's hand, that's still resting on his chest. He brings it up to his mouth and plants tiny kisses on his knuckles. "I'll go check on her, okay? Why don't you wash up, and I'll make dinner after?"
"Sounds good to me," he nods and leans in, stealing a loving kiss. "Thank you, baby."
"I just kissed your best friend, and you didn't freak. I should be thanking you," he giggles playfully and pokes his side. Minho makes his way upstairs and gently knocks at your door before letting himself in. He bites back a laugh, seeing you lying on your stomach in bed, your face buried in a pillow. Minho throws himself onto the mattress next to you, mirroring your position for a moment before pulling his face from the pillow. "How the fuck do you breathe like that?"
"I don't," you say, your voice muffled by the pillow.
Minho giggles softly and shifts onto his side, bracing his head on his arm. "What are you feeling right now?" he asks, very gently brushing his hand over your head.
"I don't know," you whine softly. "Like, I'm happy we talked about this and everything…but I feel bad for throwing it onto Channie like that."
Minho hums softly. "He feels bad for hurting you."
"What?" you groan, pushing yourself up.
"Well, he hates seeing you cry, dummy," he snorts and mindlessly rubs his hand down your arm. "Give him time, alright?"
"It's not like I'd have a choice," you sigh.
"Not really," he smirks and gently pokes your nose with his finger. "But you have me for now…that's a start, isn't it?"
You laugh softly and roll your eyes at him. "You're right," you nod and let him caress your cheek caringly.
"We'll need some time as well to figure out how things work out for us," he tells you. "I don't want to rush."
"I get that," you nod agreeingly.
Minho nods before pulling you close and on top of him as he turns onto his back. "You're gonna be okay? With Channie, I mean?"
"I'll be alright," you tell him, smiling down at him.
"Good," he hums gently and smiles up at you, eyes sparkling as he does.
Every time you see him up close, you can tell why Chan fell so hard for him that easily. You mindlessly brush back his hair before meeting his eyes again. "Should we go and make dinner?"
"Yeah," Minho nods and searches your eyes before gently connecting your lips. You smile into the feeling and kiss back softly before pulling back. "I got you," he promises softly, and you believe him.
-
A few days later, Chan comes back from the studio, throwing his bag aside and making his way toward the two of you on the sofa. He subconsciously slows down seeing you on Minho's lap, giggling with him as you show him something on your phone. Minho mindlessly rubs your thigh, head resting on your shoulder. Chan sits down on the sofa with a bit of distance between him and the two of you, somehow feeling like he's intruding.
Minho looks up and flashes him a genuine smile, reaching out for his hand. "Hey, Channie love."
"Hey there," you say, scrolling through your pictures.
"Hey," he says softly, squeezing his hand.
"You had a good day, love?" he asks caringly.
Chan hums gently. "Yeah, it was alright."
"We didn't make dinner yet," he tells him, squeezing his hand.
"Okay," Chan nods and gets up. "I'll go shower first, then."
"Sure," Minho nods and focuses back on you as you show him something. He giggles as you show him something.
"What are you looking at?" Chan asks curiously, and you also turn the phone for him to see. "Y/N, I told you not to show him those," he groans as he sees a picture of himself as a kid.
"What?" Minho frowns at him. "You look so cute."
"No, I didn't," he shakes his head, frustrated. "Can you stop that?"
"I'm sorry, I just stumbled across them in my gallery," you tell him honestly. "I found a few of us back when we were like five. You wanna see them?"
"No," he shakes his head and shoves his hands into his pockets.
You frown softly and shut off your phone. "What's wrong? Usually, you love looking at old pictures."
"No, I don't. You love looking at them," he says, giving you a meaningful glance. "For me, they're a reminder of the freedom to do whatever I want I don't have anymore."
"Okay, you could've told me that," you tell him gently.
"Whatever," he huffs and walks upstairs before you can react any further.
"What the hell was that about?" you frown.
"He's probably tired," Minho shrugs and gently pats your hips. "Can you handle dinner tonight? I'll go make sure he's okay, help him wash up and stuff."
"Sure," you nod agreeing, and busy yourself in the kitchen. Earlier today, Minho and you decided to surprise Chan with his favorite, and you're determined to get it right.
Minho steps into their bathroom and pulls the door closed after him, leaning against it. "What was that about?"
"I already told you," he says, pulling off his beanie, curls falling freely around his face.
"You never told me that before," he frowns softly.
"Mhm, because you always get all happy and giggling, and that's cute," Chan rolls his eyes playfully, pulling off his sweater.
Minho watches him observantly and chews his lower lip. "You know I asked you if you're okay with the thought of me having another partner like a thousand times, right?" he asks, and Chan hums simply, throwing his sweatpants into a corner. "And what did you tell me?"
"Min, this isn't about you and her being a thing now," he groans softly and raises his eyebrows as Minho steps in front of him, grabbing his chin and making him look at him.
"Don't do that," he says, searching his eyes. "Don't play pretend with me."
"I'm not -" his mouth falls shut at Minho's firm look. "Baby," he groans in protest.
"You're either going to be honest with me right now, or I'll leave and ignore you sulking all evening," he says, and Chan closes his eyes in defeat.
"I…not now, okay?" he asks quietly. Minho watches him for another moment before turning around and leaving, going back downstairs. Chan bites back a frustrated groan and rubs his face tiredly, wondering if he pissed him off now. Only shortly after, the door opens again, and he's back, closing the door after himself and locking it. He doesn't pay much attention to him as he turns on the water in the tub and checks the temperature.
Minho's clothes soon meet the floor, wearing only his boxers. He closes the distance and pulls him into a fierce kiss. Chan's hands land on his hips, pulling him in, as he chases his lips desperately almost immediately. Minho deepens the kiss and fondles down his back. "You trust me?"
"Yeah," he whispers against his lips, his eyes falling close as Minho kisses down his neck. Minho pulls him into the bathtub as soon as it's filled and straddles his lap, hugging him close as he does. Chan instinctively buries his face in his neck, humming lowly as Minho runs his hand through his hair.
Minho soothingly massages his scalp before easing out all the knots in Chan's neck and shoulders, making his boyfriend moan against his skin in relief. "You're tired, love?" he asks gently, and Chan hums in agreement. "Lean back your head a little; I'll wash your hair for you," he says, and Chan does as he says, eyes fluttering close as soon as Minho starts massaging the shampoo into his hair. Minho smiles softly at the sight and takes his time, lovingly washing his hair for him. "You're so pretty," he says adoringly once he's done, and Chan blushes heavily.
"No, I'm not," he protests tiredly.
Minho shakes his head at him and cups his face, planting tiny kisses all over his face until Chan starts giggling. "Gosh, my sweet love, I wish you'd believe me one day when I tell you that."
"Sorry," he smiles, pained. "I just don't see it."
"I'll tell you until you do, my pretty boy," Minho promises and gently rubs his shoulders. “So, what’s going on?”
Chan sighs softly. "I guess I'm scared."
"Of what?" Minho asks patiently, soothingly fondling his back.
"That she'll be better for you than I am," he admits. "Or that you'll end up loving her more."
Minho cups his face and searches his eyes observantly. "My sweet Channie love," he says adoringly. "Why would I ever compare the two of you, huh? This doesn't mean I'll leave you behind."
"Promise?" he asks, almost sounding a little timid.
"I promise," he nods and kisses him soothingly. "I love you so much, Channie; I'd never want to miss that."
"I love you too," he smiles softly.
"I mean it, love," Minho promises and presses another few soft kisses all over his face until Chan's giggling and trying to get away.
-
Just like that, another two weeks passed, and Minho and you grew more comfortable around each other. Chan doesn’t seem to mind anymore, knowing he’d always have a special place in Minho’s heart no matter what, and you’re not pressuring him to make a move. He still has no idea of what his feelings look like for you and he's glad you haven't brought it up until now.
You’re getting ready for university as Minho rushes down the stairs, putting on his sneakers in the process and almost stumbling.
“Baby, be careful,” Chan says, sounding a little stressed as he watches him stumbling once more. “There’s no use in you getting hurt just so you’re on time,” he laughs as Minho’s glasses drop to the floor and his boyfriend curses.
“If you woke me up in time, I wouldn’t be running late,” he protests, stuffing the laces into his sneakers.
Chan rolls his eyes playfully and picks up his glasses for him, putting them back on his nose. “You have an alarm for a reason, baby,” he reminds him gently before kneeling in front of him.
“That’s the third time this week you missed putting an alarm,” you frown softly.
“I didn’t forget today,” he shakes his head, smiling softly as Chan ties his shoelaces for him. He gently ruffles his hair, and Chan makes a soft protesting sound. “I simply didn’t hear it.”
“You were that tired?” you ask worriedly. “I thought you went to bed early yesterday?”
“Well, I did, but-” he glances down at Chan before looking up at you again and smirking. “I didn’t go to sleep just then.”
“Got it,” you snort and ignore Chan’s chuckle. “Why was he up that early then?”
“When am I not?” Chan laughs and rolls his eyes at himself.
“Okay, fair point,” you chuckle.
“I really have to leave,” Minho says and kisses Chan, gripping the hem of his shirt for a moment as if he’s scared to let go of their shared intimacy only hours before.
Chan grips his hips, kissing back sweetly. “See you later, baby.”
Minho smiles softly and steals another kiss before rushing over to you. “Bye, kitten,” he smiles and quickly kisses you before racing off. The door slams shut behind him, and Chan turns to you.
“Three, two, one,” he says, and the door gets ripped open again.
“Forgot my bag, sorry,” Minho shouts and is already gone again.
Chan and you exchange a look before cracking up. “Fucks sake, he really doesn’t change,” Chan giggles and glances at the clock above the kitchen counter. “You need a ride?”
“Oh, you don’t have to,” you assure him, taking a bite of your toast and scribbling down a few notes.
“I know,” he shrugs and tilts his head at you. “But I want to.”
“Okay,” you smile at him gently and grab your things.
“You have everything?” he asks, checking the room as he grabs his keys.
“I think I do,” you nod agreeing, and follow him outside to his car. Chan starts the car as soon as you’re buckled up and starts driving. “Any plans for your day off?”
“Probably catching up on some sleep if my body lets me,” he chuckles and keeps his eyes on the road for now. “It’s been weeks since I got a reasonable amount of sleep. The last few days, I slept four hours tops.”
"Four hours isn't that bad for you," you think out loud.
Chan clears his throat. "In total. Not every night."
“But you’re okay so far?” you ask, eying him suspiciously. “No dizzy spells? No trouble breathing?”
Chan opens his mouth to assure you he’s fine but closes it again quickly. “I’m…it’s manageable up until now,” he evades your question.
“Meaning?” you squint your eyes at him.
“I get dizzy when I get up too quickly,” he confesses and scrunches up his face for a moment. “Also, I hate those damn stairs at the moment.”
“So you do have trouble breathing,” you sigh softly. “Does he know?”
“No, it started this morning, which is why I was up that early,” he shakes his head and checks his mirror before taking a turn left. “He has to host today, didn’t want him to worry.”
“Will you tell him after?” you ask patiently.
“Not sure yet,” he says, laughing at your tired huff. “Minho worries too much already; he’ll try grounding me if I tell him. I can’t take a break right now with the new album coming up and everything.”
“As long as you don’t overdo it,” you sigh softly and turn to look at him. Only then do you notice the dark patches beneath his eyes, his pale skin, and how he’s controlling his breaths. “You look like shit, mate.”
“Finally, someone agrees,” he comments dryly and pulls into a parking spot in front of your university.
“Channie!” you protest, making him giggle. “What I mean is you look like you need a break. Seriously, go home and try to sleep; don’t you dare do anything else.”
“I’ll try my best,” he promises. “I’ll come pick you up if I’m still awake.”
“Okay…but don’t you dare get up because of that,” you warn him, and he chuckles, shaking his head as you leave the car. “See ya.”
“See ya, hun,” he smirks and waves you off.
-
Chan doesn’t show up once you’re done a few hours later, and you’re glad because that means he must be sleeping. You stop at a store nearby to buy some sushi for dinner, knowing Chan’s and Minho’s preferences by now. Your phone lights up with a message from Minho, asking you how your day at uni has been. You smile softly, knowing Minho always made time to check in on you and Chan whenever he was busy. After typing a quick reply and sending a selfie with the sushi, you make your way back home.
You quietly close the front door after you and slip out of your shoes before sneaking into the kitchen, desperate not to make too much noise. You stop in your tracks as you spot Chan at the end of the stairs, sitting there with his face buried in one hand, eyes closed, and one hand pressed against his chest. “Fucks sake,” you sigh softly and make your way over, crouching down in front of him. “Channie?” He replies with a pained, low hum, and you know what’s up. “Dizzy?” you ask, and he shakes his head very subtly. “Can you breathe okay?”
“Hurts,” he whispers strained, taking very short breaths.
“Can you get up?” you ask calmly, gently rubbing his knee.
“Dunno,” he admits, but he doesn’t think he can right now.
“You’re cold?” you ask, noticing his hand shaking against his chest and the goosebumps on his arms as he’s only wearing a shirt. Chan hums, contorting his face in pain at the action. “Take my hand,” you say gently, and he does, hesitantly taking it off his chest. “One squeeze for yes, twice for no, okay?” you ask, and he squeezes one time. “Does anything else hurt besides breathing right now?” you ask, and he squeezes your hand twice. “Okay, that’s good…You want me to stay or leave you alone?” you ask gently.
“That’s two questions, hun,” he whispers with a weak smile, looking at you through lidded eyes for the first time since you’ve arrived.
“Sorry,” you chuckle. “Stay?” you ask, and he squeezes once with a smile. “Did you take a sleeping pill already?” Another squeeze. “How long ago?”
“Not sure,” he answers honestly. He has no idea since when he’s sitting here, too exhausted to move any step further. “Shortly after I got back,” he adds, a little drowsily.
Your eyes widen. “Fucks sake, that’s three hours ago at least,” you burst out, and he chuckles before wincing in pain. That explains how long it takes him to process your questions.
He sinks forward, burying his face in your shoulder, and presses his hand back against his chest. “Ow,” he sniffles softly, eyes brimming with tears.
You soothingly run your hand through his hair and squeeze his other hand, that’s still in yours. “Shh, I got you…Can I leave you for a moment and get some things to make you more comfortable?” After a moment, Chan squeezes your hand and sits up again, contorting his face softly as he does. “I’ll be right back, I promise.” You race up the stairs and go into their room, grabbing a sweater of Minho and Chan’s fuzzy blanket and the pillow he keeps stealing from your room. You throw everything into a bag and pull the mattress off their bed with a grunt. “Fucking Chan, and you fucking overworking yourself,” you curse to yourself as you push it into the hallway. “Channie, can you, like, very shortly move away from the stairs?” you ask and watch him worriedly as he pushes himself up, gripping the railing of the stairs as he does. You push the mattress down the stairs and place it right at the end of them. “Okay, here we go,” you say and wrap your arm around Chan, helping him sit on the mattress for now. You grab Minho’s sweater and pull it over his head, giggling as his curls are covering his eyes now.
"T'fuck are you doin'?" he asks, amused as you brush his hair back for him. "What is this?" he asks, gesturing at the mattress.
"You said you can't move properly," you say. "The stairs aren't comfortable, you're cold, and you look like you could use some cuddles. I won't do that on the stairs."
"But on a mattress in the middle of the hallway?" he asks, and you nod firmly. Chan cracks up, wincing almost immediately, and buries his face in your shoulder. "You're so stupidly adorable," he groans. "Also, that's Min's sweater."
"That's on purpose, dumbass," you snort and feel him smile against your neck as he adjusts his head. "Okay, let's get you comfortable."
Chan watches you as you unpack your bag, smiling tiredly as he spots his favorite blanket and your pillow. You know him too well sometimes. You get everything into place before kneeling down in front of him, gently placing your hand on his knees. He locks eyes with you and gets lost in them, memories of your shared childhood and never-ending friendship flooding his brain. "You…," he swallows softly at your questioning look.
"Is the lack of air getting to you?" you ask gently as he doesn't continue and see a smirk pulling at the corner of his lips.
Chan chews on his lower lip and watches you intensely. "You look pretty today."
"Oh," you breathe out, ears burning up. "Thank you." He smiles gently before lying down on his side and curling up a little, still breathing pained. You lie down next to him and soothingly rub his arm. "Still cold?"
"A little," he nods, and only seconds later, he's covered by his blanket and in your warm embrace. He allows himself to relax in your arms, closing his eyes and trying to give his body a break. It still hurts, and his eyes brim with tears of frustration. "Y/N?" he asks, barely audible after a while.
"Yeah?" you ask gently, running your hand through his hair.
"Can you call Min?" he asks quietly, subconsciously playing with the hem of your sweater.
"Want him to come home?" you ask, soothingly rubbing his back.
"Mhm," Chan sniffs softly, cuddling up against you more. He doesn't know why, but he really wants you both there now.
"Okay," you nod and fumble for your phone, calling Minho. He takes it on the third ring, and you chuckle to yourself. "Hey, Min," you say.
"What's wrong?" Minho asks, and you bite back a laugh at him, sensing something is off.
"Can you come home early?" you ask gently.
Minho glances around the room and hums softly. "Not sure, why? Did something happen?"
"Channie's not feeling well, don't worry, I'm with him," you tell him and glance down at Chan in your arms.
"Fucks sake, I knew something was off," Minho groans, frustrated, and already gathers his things. "What did he do this time?"
"He had trouble breathing when I came home…but it's better now, right?" you ask, and Chan hums in response. "Yeah, it's better now."
"I'll be there as soon as I can."
-
Minho keeps his promise, and only fifteen minutes later, you can hear his keys at the door. He drops his stuff in the entrance and makes his way over quickly, stunned at the sight of you two. "What the fuck?"
"He couldn't move, so I had to bring the bed to him," you shrug unbothered.
Minho joins you on the mattress, lovingly brushing back Chan's hair. "Hey, love," he says softly. "Didn't get enough sleep lately?"
"Not really," Chan says, muffled by the fabric of your sweater.
Minho hums gently before getting comfortable next to him and spooning him. His hand slips between your bodies, soothingly rubbing Chan's chest. "Try and get some sleep, okay?" he asks softly.
"Can you two keep talking?" he asks, knowing your voices would lull him in eventually. He feels safe between the two of you, surrounded by warmth. Minho's rubbing his chest, you're playing with his hair, and he slowly drifts off to the sound of your voices.
Not much after Chan seems to be asleep Minho drifts off himself, cuddling up to Chan in the process. He's tired from his day at work and doesn't seem to mind that little break. You smile gently and reach out, fondling both of their hair before wanting to get up and give them some privacy.
Chan's grip around you tightens as you do, and you stop in your tracks. "Stay," he mumbles sleepily, and you get comfortable again.
Maybe he just really needed both of you right now. Was that a first step in the right direction?
Genshin characters reacting to GN reader falling asleep.
(Part 2)
Part 1
Part 3
Part 4
Masterlist
Characters: Xiao, Zhongli, Childe (tartaglia/ajax), Kazuha.
Warnings: Cussing and mentioning thoughts of death [childe], sexual misunderstanding [zhongli]
Notes:
Tumblr media
Childe
Being in a relationship with the well-known Childe was certainly a hassle in itself. You had many close encounters, causing your poor boyfriend to always be on edge. This also meant you didn't have the luxury of many things, like being alone outside. However, him always working made you lonely so you would often sit outside of his door and wait for him. Soon enough your eyes started to get heavy, sleep quickly taking over.
When Childe opened his door and saw your body limp on the floor, the blood drained from his skin. "Fuck come on (y/n)" he grabbed your body and shook you heavily. The gingers heart was beating hard against his chest as his brain turned into a fog. However, that fog quickly dissipated as you groggily opened your eyes "tartaglia??". He let out a heavy breath as he hugged you tightly "babe I'm gonna need you to never do that again." Before you could ask what happened, he kissed your lips and lifted you up. He placed you down on the couch and plopped his weight on top of you. "Let's sleep before you give me another heart attack"
Tumblr media
Kazuha
The ship rocked slowly, the warm sun beating down onto each of the crew members. It was morning time, Beidou had us stop at an abandoned island to grab some fresh fruits, and hopefully, there was some treasure. You had decided to stay back and read your boyfriends poems. There wasn't much for you to do anyways so why not? Soon enough, the rhythmic rocking swayed you to sleep.
Afternoon had hit, the rest of the crew had come back and started to make some lunch. "(y/n)?" A voice called out from the stairs, footsteps made their way to the slumbering body. A bandaged hand grazed your cheek softly, as small kisses peppered your face. Your eyes fluttered open to only be met with loving red ones. "C'mon love, lunch is ready." he said before he kissed your lips lovingly.
Tumblr media
Xiao
Xiao was called by Aether, he had a deal with him to where if anything happened to just call his name. He had that for a few people, so you couldn't be angry at him suddenly disappearing. You sat in your room at Wangshu Inn. It wasn't certain if Xiao would come back tonight, but just in case you placed down some almond tofu. As the moon light lit the sky, you laid down in your bed. There had been many times when you had been alone waiting for your demon killer to come back, but it didn't make it less lonely. You closed your eyes and went off to dream land.
The door to your room creaked open, revealing the anemo yaksha. His eyes landed on the tofu and then quickly moved to your sleeping body. Not wanting to waste your delicious food, he took a few bites of the tofu and walked over to you. Carefully, he moved the pillow that you were cuddling and placed himself in your arms. "I'm back, sleep well"
Tumblr media
Zhongli
The old archon had been with you for hundreds of years, each chapter making new friends. In this chapter of your life, a devious rich asshole named Childe waltzed in. And now here are the two of you sitting in a private room waiting for the ginger boy to join you. The both of you were reading a book together, your head leaning on Zhonglis shoulder as he read the words aloud. Childe was very late, most likely getting stuck with some authorities. Zhongli took another sip of his tea as he flipped the page of the book.
"He's taking a while, isn't he my dove?" His deep honey-like voice said. However, when he didn't gain a response, he peered down. His golden eyes looked at his beloved, your eyes were closed as you set off to dream land. He carefully moved your body down to his lap as he brushed his lengthy fingers through your hair. (If you lack hair then he softly massaged your head)
Shortly after the one and only Childe slammed into the room, startling you from Zhonglis lap "Oh hoo hooo~ now what were you two doing~~~"
✮ luke and remi met in kindergarten at the ages of 4 and 5
✮ luke went up to remi as he saw she was sitting alone on one of the swings
✮ remi looked up at him and smiled before asking him if he could push her on the swing
✮ luke, of course, said yes
✮ they became friends shortly after and have been inseparable
✮ luke discovered that ever since the movie ‘ratatouille’ came out, remi has been obsessed with it
✮ luke when home that day and watched it himself
✮ that’s where remi got the name ‘remi’
✮ luke would always pick flowers from the ground to give to her during their break outside
✮ if he saw that remi didn’t have a snack, he would offer her some of his and wouldn’t take no as an answer
✮ remi would always write luke letters even if they weren’t exactly written well
✮ over their time in kindergarten, luke began to develop a crush on remi
✮ luke would go home and talk about remi to his mom for hours
✮ his brothers would tease him about it and luke would always have his arms crossed with a pout on his face
✮ a couple weeks laters he came to school with a ring pop
✮ during their break time outside, he went up to her while she was playing with her friends
✮ he held out the ring pop and said, “remi will you marry me?” his r’s sounded like w’s
✮ remi grinned and luke swore he fell in love even more even at the age of 5
✮ remi of course said, “of course lukey.”
✮ he placed the ring pop on her pointer finger and gave her a hug
✮ soon after he went back to his friends while she went back to hers who began yelling in excitement
✮ a week later, remi had come to school in a white dress while luke came dressed in a polo shirt that was white and shorts (he didn’t have a tux)
✮ one of luke’s friend had decided to officiate the wedding
✮ remi had a small bouquet of flowers (the ones that luke would always pick for her) and she was standing next to luke
✮ luke’s friend had made them say their vows to each other (it was really just luke and remi saying how much they loved each other and would never leave the other)
✮ when it came to kissing remi after saying ,i do, luke just leaned down slightly and gave remi a kiss on her cheek
✮ after school, luke and remi had waited for their parents together, holding hands
✮ lucky for them, they both came at the same time and saw the two hugging
✮ that’s when ellen and remi’s mom, rachel, met
✮ they became best friends themselves
✮ ever since then remi and luke would call each other husband and wife
✮ about a couple of months later, remi found out she was moving to Michigan in the U.S.
✮ she began to cry because she would have to leave luke behind
✮ when the time to tell luke came, remi was so sad
✮ luke began crying himself because his wife was leaving him
✮ the two would facetime every day after the move until they slowly began to stop
✮ the two never thought about each other as they were very young when they got married and didn’t remember much from that time
✮ fast forward to 2022, 13 years later, remi is a sophomore at the University of Michigan
✮ she does cheer and is a part of Alpha Phi
✮ while at a frat party, she was about to get a drink when a guy got to it first.
✮ he began to apologize and told her she could go first.
✮ the two spent the whole night together talking and laughing
✮ when it came time for remi to leave, he asked for her insta
✮ just when she was about to give it to him, her friend, vicky, began to pull her away as they had to get back to the sorority house soon
✮ remi told the guy to just give her his insta and she would add him back later
✮ when he did, he asked for her name but she couldn’t tell him as vicky had already dragged her out of the house
✮ luke had never been more sad in his life
✮ when remi got to the house she went up to her room and added him on insta
✮ remi clicked on his profile and saw the name, luke hughes
✮ she didn’t think anything of it until she got to thinking and realized that the name sounded familiar
✮ she went to sleep however and when she woke up she saw she had multiple notifications from instagram
✮ she unlocked her phone and opened the app to see he had followed her back
✮ when going to her dms, she saw he sent her a couple of messages
✮ remi opened them and saw that he had told her something
✮ “i think we went to the same elementary ”
✮ she was confused at first before she began to think again
✮ it finally hit her
✮ luke hughes was her (ex) husband
✮ remi began to text back asking all different sorts of questions like what elementary he went to and who his kindergarten teacher was
✮ luke got a little weirded out at first but soon realized it was her
✮ remi thatcher was his (ex) wife
✮ the two exchanged numbers and began to talk
✮ the two planned out a date and the rest is history
Steve liked Lauren but he was questioning her taste in friends. Though the first one had been a cousin on Danny’s side.
This was his fourth proposition for sex since he’d arrived. Apparently word had spread around that he was related to the Lexington Kincades and they all wanted a taste of that particular brand of honey.
Never mind he was here for a funeral. But Beth had so far been the most flagrant pursuer.
She was currently leaning on her elbows on the counter, showing off her ample breasts. Not that Steve had ever even been a breast guy. Sure they were great to look at but when it came to sex it was more about the person he was in bed with and less what they looked like. Though apparently dark curls played a bigger part than he would admit out loud.
“Come on,” Beth said. “It’s not as though I’m asking you out. I know you’re going to be gone by the end of the week. All I’m saying is to have a little fun.”
Steve sighed. “Look, I’m not interested in ‘fun’ right now. I’ve had more than enough ‘fun’. I’m looking for something deeper. Someone deeper.”
“You got anyone in mind?” she asked, batting her eyelashes and curling a lock of hair around her finger.
“Yeah, actually I do,” he said straightening up. “They are sweet and kind and makes me laugh. They are always there for me even when I didn’t even know I needed someone to talk to.”
Beth scoffed. “Sounds like your crushing on your best friend or something, Raven, Wren, Mavis or whatever her name was.”
Steve rolled his eyes. “Robin.” He crossed his arms and glared at her.
“Yeah, her,” Beth said. “I knew it was some bird name. Lauren was telling me all about her. It’s sounds like you’ve got bad for this girl, but she’s not interested in you. So why not take the edge off and get your dick wet.”
“One, it’s not Robin. Two, I’m here for a funeral. And three, I think we’re really close to something and I don’t want to ruin that with some fling.”
She batted her eyelashes. “She’d never know.”
“I would and that’s what matters.”
He stormed out of the kitchen, clenching and unclenching his fists.
*
Eddie was waiting for him on sofa after he had gone to the bathroom to scrub his face.
“Hey,” he greeted. “Is there any chance we could go somewhere? Just me and you.”
Eddie nodded. “Sure, Stevie. Why don’t we head to Lexington and see your grandma’s grave?”
Steve’s shoulders sagged in relief. “That’s great idea, Eds.”
Eddie hopped to his feet. “Just let me tell Uncle Wayne and Aunt Penny that we’ll be gone all day.”
Steve nodded. “I’ll meet you out at the car.”
“Right-oh!” he replied with a jaunty salute.
Steve shook his head fondly and walked out to the car. He leaned against the hood and watched through the window for Eddie.
He watched with his arms folded as Lauren and Beth seemed to exchange...well it was clear whatever it was, it was very heated.
Beth marched out of the house first without so much as backward glance at the house or Steve. Which was fine by him, if he was being honest.
Eddie came out shortly afterwards. “What’s her damage?” he asked jutting his chin at where Beth had stormed off to.
Steve shrugged. “To be honest, I don’t even fucking know, man. I really, really don’t.”
“You ready to go, then?” he asked.
Steve nodded and they slipped into the car. Steve would drive up and Eddie would drive back.
They were silent on the drive up, but it was a comfortable silence. Eddie could see that Steve had been wound up by something, but wasn’t ready to talk about it yet.
Steve drove slowly through cemetery looking for the Kincade family plot where Eileen and Montserrat Kincade’ mausoleum would be.
Soon it loomed in the distance and Steve stopped the car.
“Do you want me to go with you?” Eddie asked.
Steve nodded.
Eddie got out of the car and walked up with Steve to mausoleum and his eyes wandered over the names on the tombstones. There were a lot of Kincades but there were also a smattering of other names. Husbands of female Kincades allowed to be buried in the family plot.
Eddie saw one and burst out laughing. “Hey, Stevie, look! Another Munson!”
Steve stopped his slow trek to the grave and turned to see where Eddie was pointing. And sure enough there it was.
Nathaniel Munson
1921-1944
Abigail Kincade Munson
1922-1973
“Huh,” he said thoughtfully. “I think that was Montserrat’s, my grandpa’s, younger sister. Her husband died in the War.”
Eddie nodded. He wondered if his Munsons were related to Steve’s. That would be interesting to say the least.
“She never remarried?” he asked as they started walking again.
Steve shook his head. “And as I understand no one tried to marry her off again either. She never had kids. My mom always called her a vodka aunt. She would whisk them off on vacations to far off lands during their holiday breaks and just lived her life to the fullest.”
“Is that why you wanted an uncle to do the same for you?” Eddie asked.
“Yeah,” he murmured. “Mom doesn’t have any sisters, so I thought why not a vodka uncle, you know? Someone to take me places I’ve never seen. Always there for me when things got to difficult at home. But it never happened. Uncles Percy and Jasper never even called as far as I know.”
Eddie bumped their shoulders together. “Uncle Wayne can’t take you places you’ve never been, but I think he’d more than happy to take you into the Munson fold.”
Steve smiled at that. “Thanks, Eds. That means a lot.”
They finally reached the fucking tomb. Eddie wondered briefly if she had been mummified.
They had picked up flowers in town so they wouldn’t wilt. White lilies. No red roses for Steve. Not anymore.
Steve walked up to the sepulcher and laid the flowers down in front of it. He sank to his knees and just started to sob. It just all came out in a rush of emotion building up for the last twelve years. All the people he lost.
The lost of his friends even though they were objectively horrible people, they were his people once upon a time. The lost of his innocence to literal fucking monsters. The lost of his parents through neglect and disinterest. The lost of his relationships with Nancy and every other girl he’d been with since. The lost of his ability to sleep.
Eddie knelt down next to him and put his arms around him, just holding him as he cried.
Steve wasn’t sure how long he had knelt there sobbing into the grass with Eddie’s arms around him, but suddenly there was the sound of a car slowing to a stop behind them.
Eddie looked at his watch and then at the sepulcher behind him.
Shit.
They had by some coincidence come on the twelfth anniversary of Eileen’s death. Eddie instantly knew who was pulling up and if they didn’t get out of there soon, Steve was going to have a much worse day.
But he couldn’t just pull Steve away, not when he clearly needed this. He stood up and turned to face the man that had gotten out of the very fancy car.
To say he was shocked would be an understatement. Steve clearly took after his mother’s side. The man had the same hazel eyes and honeyed hair that Steve did. He had a neatly trimmed beard and a tailored suit.
“Hey!” the man called out. “Who are you and what are you doing here?”
Steve’s head snapped up. He scrambled to his feet, brushing the grass off his knees. When he straightened up the other man gasped.
“Steven?”
“Uncle Percy?” Steve asked, jaw dropping, eyes wide.
“Shit, Steven,” Percy huffed. “Your Uncle Jasper is literally behind me. He’s going to have a bitch fit if he sees you here.” He pulled out a business card and a pen. “Meet me here at four and we’ll talk then.”
Steve nodded taking the business card. He didn’t want to be yelled at by his other uncle either.
Steve and Eddie started walking to their car when another, even fancier car pulled up to the curb. Another man got out. He looked like Max, but was thinner, more ratlike in his appearance. He hurried over to the other side of the car, helping out a very pregnant blonde woman as a ten year old girl hopped out of the back seat.
As they got to the car they could hear the exchange.
“Who was that, Perce?” Uncle Jasper whined.
“Just a couple of college students doing some family history and got turned around,” Percy explained. “I got them sorted and on their way.”
Eddie leaned in close to Steve. “You hear that, we’re a couple of college students.”
Steve snickered. “The only two of the party who aren’t going to go to college.”
They giggled together as they got in the car and drove off.
