No I can’t. I won’t rant about the cephalopods. That there are pictures of what look to be nuclear waste disposal sites and ideas of how when humans are long gone how we’d terrify away sentient life with the disturbing pillars. Of what appears to be a dead whale skeleton and how that could be referencing a “whale fall” where an entire ecosystem develops around the carcass as it decomposes and is eaten by hundreds of creatures smaller than it. Like how splatoon world and culture is influenced by what dead humans left behind (and their hopes and dreams). Of how everything looks to be taken over by bleached coral, the results of algae (responsible for the magnificent colors of reefs) fleeing coral due to stress from pollution and climate change. Of potential new Marina and Pearl lore and more Agent 8 and memory dives and an authoritarian regime that seeks to erase your entire being and make you into a colorless disposal clone for their use. I can’t…
Unless someone asks me to. In which case I will ABSOLUTELY RANT ABOUT ALL THAT!!!

okay so. like. wan ed 12. dazai is stopped by a log in the river and starts actually drowning. funny haha wan bit.
but repeating something ive said (hi haven) i think this is actually a really good example for how ada dazai doesn't really want to kill himself. he could've actually drowned here. thats his 'goal' right? but the moment it starts happening he's trying to get his head back above water.
Tumblr media
"I thought I was dead"
hilariously wet and horrified or not he obviously didn't want to die here. theres nobody around to hear what he said anymore anyway. and that's why, despite being yk... a wan ending animation? i still think this is such like. a case in point.

I think Teru doesn't care about the new timeline: This place doesn't matter to him, it's just a weird dream or a supernatural accident that will be solved soon and cease to mater, marriage included.
This is just like Mei's picture perfect world for Teru, something he can reject because his 'real' life is somewhere else.
Tumblr media
He has been angry or distressed or plain cold since he first stepped into this new world, the only times Teru looks happy or blushes are when he feels like he is one step closer to going home.
The first time is when he was holding the key that he believed could give him the power to change the past. And his joy fades as soon as Akane revels that the key is useless in Teru's hands.
Tumblr media
The second time is when he and Nene get a concrete hint to leave this new world.
Tumblr media
The third time is when he is threatening Akane, using his engagement with Aoi as a tool "Look at me, I'll have a date with my fiance! don't you hate that? Don't you want to get back to the old timeline?? So give it your all to get us back to the real world!"
Tumblr media
The way Teru interacts with Aoi also feels weirdly dismissive in chapter 113.
Let's push aside the nature of Teru's "I need Akane-san for my dream" deal with Aoi for a second and compare his approach with Aoi in the old timeline to the new one. He used to always try to spend time with her, starting conversations, wanting her company, and even forcing her to hang out at times.
Tumblr media
And most important, he asked her a ton of questions. It was his main way of approaching Aoi, just asking her about her preferences, her feelings, her motivations, or whatever he felt curious about.
Tumblr media
But in this new world? The only question Teru asked was "What are we?" and after getting his answer he basically ignored Aoi. He has no interest in the marriage or Aois's feelings about it. He should have a million questions but he has none at all, asking nothing even in the 15 minutes that he had waited with Aoi and Nene for Akane to come back.
Tumblr media
Teru's reaction makes no sense if he was in love with Aoi, but the thing is: His behavior is too dismissive to make sense if he was in love with someone else either. An arranged marriage is a big deal. It's a promise to be tied to someone forever. So this lack of joy, anxiety, anger, fear, or anything outside short-lived surprise, is.... weird.
His shock passes fast and he goes "ok, that's how it is" about it.
Tumblr media
He cares so little about this marriage he either doesn't realize yet that Aoi isn't happy by it or he doesn't care, since he tactlessly used their engagement to mess with Akane right she is right there. (something he never did before, the old Aoi doesn't even suspect Teru likes to use her to threaten or mess with Akane)
Tumblr media
That's why I think he isn't taking this engagement and more importantly, this new timeline as a whole, seriously. At all.
The only time he seems to take the Aoi of this new world somewhat seriously is when he brings up Aoi's memories. The memories of the old world Aoi.
Tumblr media
Cause this Aoi? She is a girl from a 'fabricated world'. She must be familiar but I doubt Teru considers her the 'real' Aoi.
I hope we get this marriage situation explored, I hope Teru slowly realizes this is real, if not to him, at least for everyone else: This world Aoi, this world Kou, and so on see it as reality. Maybe when Aoi gets her memories back we will get a more serious talk about the engagement? Who knows, there are still a lot of questions in the air about this new timeline.

so let me get this straight, watcher:
An unknown party is planting VHS tapes on your own set weekly, containing ad reads by:
a self-proclaimed professor
who mentions unfortunate encounters with horses
who has an 'estranged wife'
whose jacket is tan and tie and red
who is a 'gamer'
whose image flickered in like a hologram in an earlier ad read,

and you want us to just like, not think Something Smells Fishy. OK...

I think about Nagito’s death at the end of SDR2 a lot. There’s so much symbolism and meaning in it. His death reflects a lot of the other deaths from the first game, which is a cool easter egg, but the meaning of that also kind of blows my mind.
The symbolism of how he’s embodying so much of the despair from the first game, compiled into a single death. How he’s depending on his luck to burn out every last ounce of despair from this death game, while also embodying every ounce from the last one at the same time. He - intentionally/consciously or not - is embodying as much despair as he can so he can burn it all away and bring hope.
But most recently I’ve also been thinking a lot about the spear.
Because there’s two major ways you can interpret Nagito’s luck cycle: either luck is a real supernatural force that exists in the DR universe, or Nagito is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Personally, I do think it’s hard to argue that everything that happens to Nagito throughout the series is totally unrelated to some greater supernatural force. But I also think it’s so tragic to think of his luck cycle as just a bunch of psychological tricks. So a little bit of this is a “what if”: even if it’s not the most likely explanation, there is a way of arguing for it and I think that’s interesting. He believes with all his heart that he’s cursed by this luck cycle. That good and bad will happen to him in extremes, in waves. Confirmation bias tells us he’ll pick out that pattern easily, searching for evidence that supports his understanding of the world, and then presenting what is essentially cherry-picked evidence to other characters. Which is often what we see of his luck cycle: the narrative he has constructed. Then, throw in how he’d subconsciously make decisions and put himself in situations that further supports his view of himself and the world. He might purposefully put himself in precarious positions when he thinks there’s bad luck due. He might do something like hang a spear above his own head. That act, metaphorical or literal, is then, also sort of his essence, isn’t it? Nagito hangs spears above him, poised to kill him, and waits for his luck - real or not - to use them. And when the spear falls, because if you keep hanging spears above your head eventually they’ll fall, he calls it intentional and purposeful. He calls it part of his luck cycle. But how much of it is really luck, and how much of it is that he’s just hanging spears and waiting? How much of it is that he really believes he deserves bad luck or pain or hurt? Honestly, we don’t know exactly if the poison killed him before the spear did. We can certainly assume it did, since Monokuma rules Nanami the killer, and because the spear was supposedly released upon Nagito’s death (and the nature of the poison). However, I think there’s enough doubt in there to argue that, even if its unlikely, the spear did kill him. Monokuma could’ve lied, there was no one and no way to prove him wrong after all. The poison could’ve weakened Nagito just enough that he wasn’t dead until the spear impaled him.
Just, think of the potential symbolism of the fact that we can only assume- based on incomplete and biased observations - that the poison killed him. That Nagito’s luck killed him. From that biased assumption, we are led to believe his luck is cyclic and intentional. Just like everything Nagito does and says could be seen as a biased presentation of evidence that leads us to the same conclusions. But realistically we can also assume that Nagito just killed himself by hanging a spear over himself and waiting. We can also assume Nagito's luck isn't as drastic as he claims. What if, in reality, he just keeps hanging spears above him and waiting, maybe even hoping, they fall?

Yeah yeah yeah "FNAF MOVIE COMING OUT OCTOBER 27TH!!" Yeah that may be happening for you, but for me...the original t r u e FNaF movie already came out in 2 0 1 6
Just joking of course i aM MORE THAN FUCKING EXCITED FOR FNAF MOVIE DJAKSBS WE HAVE BEEN WAITING Y E A R S - So I figured to celebrate such an accomplishment i have decided to...not actually draw anything from the movie yet but instead the "movie" we all had as a substitute: FNaF the Musical!
I still absolutely adore this thing, rewatching it while drawing this piece just blasted me in the face with nostalgia the whole way through, and was just a real fun time seeing these YouTubers all collectivly go crazy in their own ways all just for some p u p p e t s -
And also aaaah back then when making FNaF kid friendly wasn't the norm......cough cough security breach >:[
But for real, this was a real fun one to do! Been experimenting with lighting and shading A LOT recently which i think is good, fun to try the simpler designs of the "animatronics" (tho Mat honestly was fun i still remember that shitty bear costume front to b a c k -), haven't drawn Nate before, and Mark...god REALLY trippy drawing him with red hair again hhHnnDHSKSN-
But yeah, all and all, finally posting more of art, real hyped for the movie (planning to watch it on Halloween with some friends...while in my Warfstache cosplays hohoho-), and who knows! Maybe the movie will spark my motivation with...other things...
So with that cryptic ending i abruptly leave...just like how FNaF does hAHAHA G O D THE LORE IS IN S H A M B L E S -

Hi! I really love the way you color, and I was wondering If you could make a tutorial about it, I of course completely understand if you Can't/don't want to do it thanks in advance If you decided to do it and have a good day/night.
Hello hello! Ooooh, a color tutorial! I've never done one before so I'm not sure if I'll be any good at it haha. But I don't mind sharing my thinking process when it comes to coloring my works. So when it comes to color, I very much have a traditional painter's approach since that's how I learned color in art college. My painting professor never allowed us to use black or white paint, we could only use other colors to create darker colors or new colors altogether. And you're probably thinking, "What the hell? That's insane." And I wouldn't blame you haha. But this approach helped me a lot to not rely on tints (colors mixed with white) and shades (colors mixed with black) when I color. For the most part, I purely thinking about value and hues when I'm coloring.
Finding the right values:
Tumblr media
So for this drawing, I did two different takes (one with direct harsh lighting and one without). The reason why I'm showing this is because when it comes to color it's very important that your values aren't clashing with each other. When I started out, all my coloring felt flat because I was using colors with the same values so there was little to no depth. A lot of people don't realize this but color does have value!
Tumblr media
If we put the primary colors on greyscale, you notice how each color has its own value. Blue tends to be a dark value, red has a mid to dark value , and yellow is a much lighter value. This is why if you ever look at my work, the color I use for shadows lean into blue/purple tones. You can also have warm shadows since red does have a deeper value compared to yellow. But these values are when the primary colors are at the highest saturation. What would happen if we knocked down the saturation levels?
Tumblr media
The values start to become more similar. Since we're not always using the most saturated colors, it's important to understand the values behind the colors you'll use. Once you unlock that, you can pretty much do whatever you want with color haha. That's why I hardly ever use black or white in my digital art when mixing (also I don't mix color with a brush, I just pick from the color wheel which might be insane).
While it's not wrong to use white or black to create darker/lighter colors, color in real life doesn't always act that way. Shadows and highlights can have color. For myself, letting go of white and black has opened a world of color combinations that I didn't think of before taking my first ever traditional painting class. Now, I can freely pick colors and experiment with palettes since I've blocked out what values I need (like the image below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if I'm using blending modes like in the next image, I'm always thinking about making clear value separations. If I can't understand the image in black and white, then I'll have a hard time seeing it in color.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when you get very comfortable, you can start placing characters in different color environments and match them (which essentially is the job of a color designer in TV animation).
Tumblr media
The right image is the official color palette for my character which already uses a lot of blue/purple for the shadows. But on the left side, she's in a night-time environment so I leaned even more into the cool colors to the point that the white T-shirt is actually a very very light purple/pink color haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or like this example where the left drawing gives a more sunset/golden hour lighting while the right one is more blue hour/night time lighting. But you can read the colors clearly 'cause the values are clear to begin with. While that wasn't really a tutorial this is pretty much my thought process when I'm coloring my digital works. ^^; I very much do follow an academic approach to color theory but even then I think it's okay to break the rules. As long as you have understanding of colors' value, I think you'll be able to unlock any color style you want! I hope that answered your question and was helpful!

I'm someone who hates goodbyes, it's one of the only things that really makes me emotional. I've been watching Matpat and Steph since I was a kid, and when a constant in your life that's been there for over a decade says goodbye...dude that was rough I won't lie.
I know the coming 4 hosts are going to kill it and I'm excited to see where the channels are going to go, but for nostalgia's sake, nothing is ever going to beat the original for me.
The ability to take topics and spin them into something so digestible to kids and adults alike without sounding condescending or talking down to them is a remarkable, special ability that those guys have. It's like magic how this guy made me excited to learn about topics I dreaded going to school for. I remember I learnt about permutations once from a video and it was so fascinating to me, I was beyond excited when I went to school a month later and the topic got brought up in math class. I got to ace the test and take pride in the fact that I already knew so much.
Matpat's made me cry 4 times over the past 2 weeks with his goodbyes- 5 if you could right now.
I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you, Matpat. Thank you for being a role model adult me is proud of having grown up with.
