Forget-Me-Not: The Face of Death

Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4

So this scene was made 2 years ago when I first got into RVB and joined an RVB server. There was a flower zine thing going and I didn’t know at the time submissions were closed. But I still wrote it and this is the reason the story has its title. Also I decided to use this as a filler chapter as I wrote chpt. 6 so it gave something to read instead of the biggy gaps between updates. So here ya go! Also, please make sure to like and reblog so my writing can gain traction! Tumblr algorithm is different than Twitter.

Note: This takes place at the time of the Great War.

"Sam!"

Sam looks up from being called over. His gaze fell on a man trotting up to him in Recon armor; helmet tucked behind with a grin on his face. A warm gold gaze met his steel-gray ones.

"Cruz? What's up?"

Ramon or Cruz for the better, smiles as he stopped before him, then took his helmet out from behind him. Tucked in his helmet are many blue flowers with five petals and little yellow centers. But some were white and pink. To explain, these two have been dating since last year in October. Today, being February and Valentine's day, well...

"What are those? Some wildflower?"

"Mmhm. Can you guess what these are?"

Sam thought for a moment, scrunching his nose up as he thought hard on it. They seemed familiar, but he didn't know. So he shrugged his shoulders.

"They're called Forget-Me-Nots."

Well, that did Sam a startle.

"Cruz, what are you saying. Are you leaving?"

"What? No! I just... I just thought they were pretty and thought about no matter where you go, don't forget me."

The man in the Locus armor let out a relieved sigh at that. So it was nothing that was going to change between the two of them, and no one was going on a life-threatening mission that was going to get them killed. Good, but the thought tugged at his heart a bit that he smiled and reached over with both hands to gather the flowers up to a small bouquet.

"Plus." Cruz leaned forward that his breath tickled at Sam's ear. "Happy Valentine's day, amor."

That got Sam to smile big time. He did forget that it is such a day since being in the army makes it hard to keep track of everything that happens around this place. As for the flowers, well, it is a good reminder, and one has to admit, they are pretty. He turned his content gaze to his partner, reaching over to take hold of his arm to pull him close.

It did surprise Cruz when Sam caught his lips with his own, but a pleasing hum sounded from his throat as he kissed back. They stayed that way for a while till Sam pulled away, letting their noses brush against one another. That was until Sam let out a quiet 'fuck' that made Cruz laugh.

"Now I gotta find something for-Stop laughing. I feel dumb that I didn't get anything for you!"

This made Cruz laugh harder, leaning on Sam as he did, which caused the taller man to turn red in the cheeks. Well, at least he knew to impress his partner was pretty easy for him to do. Cruz patted Sam on the chest to reassure him that it was alright. Cruz calmed down with a sigh as he looked at Sam, the smile on his face wide as adoration in those bright eyes.

It was a gentle kiss on the lips this time. Both men contend with being close to one another. After pulling away, Sam wrapped his free arm that isn't holding flowers around Cruz's waist. This made Sam chuckled, resting his cheek on the other's head as they headed off to join the rest of the troops. Neither of them cared if some looked their way, they were as happy as can be. And nothing could change that for them.

my moirail and i made an rp server based of our multi + nonfandom rp lore

its a sandbox canon with near infinite possibilities in character creation alone. your character can be one of a myriad of species, or a species from somewhere else entirely, or even one you made up yourself! the server includes three whole planets, as well as time travel so you can visit the past and future versions of those planets!
