Summary:

After returning the infinity stones back to their original places, Steve comes back an old man and promptly cuts contact with all his friends, dropping off the face of the earth. Suspicious, Bucky and Sam team up to discover what truly happened to Steve when he went back into the past. But the more they uncover, the more questions that arise, and the more danger they find themselves in, until finding the truth seems impossible. How can you find someone who doesn't want to be found?

They catch a lucky break as they decide to travel back and meet with Steve, jumping back just in time to witness him be kidnapped by none other than the Winter Soldier, only he isn't from their timeline. In fact, neither is the Steve who returned to the future with a sinister plan that endangers them all. Now Sam and Bucky not only must rescue their Steve from the clutches of Hydra, but also stop the new Steve from reigning terror over their timeline.

thinking about wayne and eddie going on an annual fishing trip (like thee Munson Men Annual Fishing Trip™️) just like a little weekend away. and the first one is coming up after eddie and steve starts dating. over breakfast eddie jokingly complains about having to go and tries to get out of it. but wayne is used to his dramatics so he just gives hmms when appropriate because eddie’s whole spiel never got him out of it before and he tells eddie that.

steve watches the whole exchange with amusement when wayne asks if he’s looking forward to it. and he’s like ??? because he assumed it was just a wayne and eddie thing. and wayne is like i just told eddie all munsons must go can’t get out of it kid.

steve gets flustered and is internally is like oh??? all munsons,,,

or like after the trip a neighbor asks wayne if they caught anything and he pulls out his wallet to show a picture they took on the trip. wayne passes it with ‘here’s a picture of my boys’ and to steve’s surprise it’s a picture of both him and eddie with their biggest catch.

and just idk wayne casually accepting steve into their family and throwing steve off guard with it.

Not so fun fact

Steve went back to a time when Bucky was still on track to be the Winter Soldier

Steve still had the super soldier serum and absolutely could have saved him

But he didn't

I do believe Steve deserved a happy ending to his story, but if I had the opportunity to save my best friend from being tortured, brainwashed, and made into a terrorist

I certainly wouldn't be wasting my time with an old flame I kissed one time. (I know their relationship is different in the comics but Im going off of the story the mcu presented us with) I can't have a truly happy ending until I know my best friend is happy too. And it's SO incredibly out of character for Steve in so many ways.

They had the opportunity to preface Steve's ending with a conversation with Bucky where a lot of things could have been explained but no. We are supposed to "assume" that conversation happened which is not only bad storytelling, but incredibly lazy and sloppy writing.

Steve did not act like a friend to Bucky in the end, he just left and didn't really do anything for him. That's what pisses me off about his ending. Make whatever excuse you want, friends who truly are friends communicate about that kinda stuff and the film's unwillingness to show that communication tells me they didn't care at all about these characters. Then for someone to go back in time enough to stop their friend from being tortured, brainwashed, and commit violent and unspeakable acts? Yeah no. Steve Rogers cared so much about not only true justice but Bucky Barnes himself, he never would have been content knowing his friend was going through a literal hell while he got to play house with Peggy (or whoever he married)
