I think SOME people forgot that both Sigyn and Persephone are complex Goddesses with like, dual sides

I mean

Sigyn is all sweet and elegant loves magic related stuff and baking....

And she js also a fucking formidable valkyrie and later valkyrie veteran, and becomes a symbol of allyship for the ostracized and misfits

Persephone literally is a radiant Spring Goddess who loves plant related stuff and feels associated with deers and larks.....

And then she is also a majestic and formidable Queen of Tartarus who basically often collabs with Hades in Underworld related stuff

Persephone can literally slay in both floral and underworld gothic vibes

Hello there, it's my first time posting here on Tumblr and I want to share how I see the story of Sigyn and Loki. Hope you enjoy!

PROLOGUE

I remember.

I remember that day very well.

The day my life changed forever.

The day I met him and nothing was quite the same.

I was young, full of dreams, of hopes, so naive and trusting in the world.

A little Vanir goddess at the Allfather's grand court.

I did not know, then, what Love really was. As a young and inexperienced maiden I was intrigued, bewitched by the idea of it. Naively, I wondered if I would ever experience the same passions or tenderness that I had secretly spied in humans, the people of Midgard.

To my innocent eyes they were curious creatures, driven in their actions by lofty and absurd ideals or by the most insidious desires, they were the closest creatures to us gods in appearance but they possessed a short life span, a blink of an eye compared to ours.

Yet watching their stories intertwine before my eyes was a small, innocent pleasure I loved to indulge in.

Little did I know then that that very small, innocent secret would lead me to fall in love with the god of stories...many know him as the god of mischief and lies but for me he was the man who gave meaning to my name, the father of my children, the one for whose love I was willing to sacrifice everything.

My name is Sigyn, goddess of victory, of fidelity, of mourning, of sacrifice and patience, wife of Loki Laufeyjarson, mother of Narvi and Váli, the holder of the bowl, the golden one.

And here is my story.

been reading up on sigyn in norse mythology, and it’s sent me absolutely wild because apparently, one of the titles often used in reference to loki is “the burden of sigyn’s arms”

and i just??? love this as a shuake parallel???

sigyn is known for her loyalty to loki, enduring all the pain that came before. despite losing her sons to an act of revenge on her husband, she stays by loki’s side the entire duration of his punishment on earth, collecting the poison before it can fall on him, protecting him where she can

it’s just, this trickster god, who by all accounts has hurt many, is now damned to a cruel fate and the only one to stick by his side is sigyn, who refuses to abandon him or leave him to endure his fate, and instead does what she can to protect him from that pain

it just? is so very them?

In which the Loki variant from the episode that lives in my head dies in battle with He Who Remains (Kang? Is it Kang? Are they one and the same? I haven’t watched Quantumania so I’m unclear if this is supposed to be the same character? I’m assuming so?)

Anyways, this is just self-indulgent art cuz I’ll never be able to write the story I have in mind but I can attempt to do some scenes from it.

More ramblings under the cut

Originally I was thinking Sigyn would also wear Loki’s colors to show they’re a united front, but I like the idea of her having her own color palette and then each of them having some small details as a nod to the other, at least when it comes to their battle clothes. I gave Sigyn here blue and gold with some green here and there for Loki, and Loki got a bit of Sigyn’s blue.

If they had been given a chance to grow old together their colors would probably blend more as sometimes happens with old couples (ha), but alas they never got that chance. Sigyn also gets pointy elf ears cuz who knows maybe she’s a descendant of the Dark Elves somewhere along the line. Who’s ta say?

Back to the story/episode idea:

It’s been about a week since TVA Loki and Mobius have shown up in Sigyn’s timeline. They’re still searching for this timeline’s HWR and haven’t had any luck so they decide they need to draw him out. Not sure how yet, it’s a WIP, but at any rate one evening there’s a party at the palace. Not sure why, maybe someone’s birthday, or they’re just having a good old fashioned “it’s winter, let’s feast” party or something idk.

Everyone’s having a good time but Sigyn has been a bit melancholic since Loki returned dredging up old memories. She leaves the party discreetly and goes to this one long hallway where there’s a massive long memorial relief depicting Loki’s life, culminating in the battle where her Loki was killed.

She’s alone, or thinks she is, as she runs her fingers over the carving of her Loki. She smiles as tears form, she’s thinking about their time together when she senses someone there with her. She begins to speak:

“We were just kids when I met him. You…him…” She turns as our Loki comes out of the shadows to stand beside her. “Millennia ago now, but I remember it like yesterday…”

So she walks Loki down the hallway telling him their story. How they fell in love, how Thor had decided he didn’t want the throne because he fell in love with a mortal woman and how her Loki didn’t want it either, he didn’t feel worthy of it, but he was. And he was good at being king, he was loved by his people and they all mourned with her the day he died

Scene ends with her holding Loki’s face in her hands and just smiling and saying thank you cuz she got to see him again. Loki’s full of all the emotions and before Sigyn wanders off into the night he hugs her and holds her for a while. She also takes the opportunity to “borrow” Loki’s TemPad (unbeknownst to him. She’s a trickster too, after all, learned from the best). She’s curious about this whole time jumping, fate of the multiverse stuff

At the end of this so-called episode, after they’ve caught this timeline’s HWR and returned to the TVA with him so they can read his temporal aura and hopefully prevent the meltdown of the loom, Sigyn has a talk with her sons, telling them it’s their time to rule. When she’s alone, she pulls out the TemPad, activating it: it’s time for her to have adventures of her own

Sigyn is known amongst the realms and the gods as Loki's loving, faithful wife, she has given loki two handsome sons and a family home. According to the Prose edda she is one who was once young and beautiful and full of life when loki courted her, since her marriage to the trickster she is described as someone who looks drained and is looking like she is always waiting for the worst.

She is an important figure in Lokis story, as she is their in the beginning and in the end, one day she was home and the gods came to visit her, she was told to bring the largest bowl in her kitchen little did poor sigyn know what loki has done and what the jobs had planned. After the gods turned their first born son Narvi by transforming him into a wolf who was thirsty for blood and he turned on his brother Vali. with the intestines of Vali Loki was bound to three slabs on stones all while Sigyn watched sadly, crying with pain and heart ach for her sons and husband with all her strength Sigyn gathered herself and she held up the bowl in between the snake and Loki's face. loving and helping loki in his moment of pain the gods have left and the dust settled, Lokis terrified agonizing moments still remained, sigyn did what she could but soon she needed to empty the venom from the bowl, while she left to empty the bowl loki would scream and wither.

A drawing of mine of Sigyn in thr Frozen series

Olivia Hussey and Jennifer Connelly are amongst my face models for Sigyn in the Frozen series. Design wise, I also took some inspos from several Sigyn paintings I've seen so far and several Pre Raphaelite paintings I've seen so far.

Sigyn in the Frozen series got dark nut brown hair with reddish tinges in the sun, sun kissed, pointy ears, a curvy hourglass figure, and striking cerulean blue eyes. I even added some valkyrie and volva related elements to this drawing, considering how she is a Volva ( and possibly a Valkyrie ) before becoming a Princess of Asgard after marrying with Loki in the Norse Myths

Also my voice headcanon for Sigyn in the Frozen series is Jennifer Connelly
