Tried studying some of Yoji Shinkawas art today!
It felt nice doing some metal gear stuff, I really love the franchise and used to be super into it years ago. Still love it
What have I learned so far?
that trying to draw in Yoji Shinkawas style is stupid fucking hard...
Like seriously holy shit this was really challenging, in a good way though! I might do some more tomorrow either from Shinkawa or another artist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also here's the original art. If you haven't checked out Shinkawas stuff please do they're amazing!

✎ yandere! artist headcanons . . .
Tumblr media
✎ warnings . . .
― obsessiveness, slight nsfw, etc.
(gn! reader x male yandere! oc)
✎ yandere! artist who is the school's best artist, winning art competitions left and right as if they were nothing to him.
✎ yandere! artist who at first ignores you because you didn't stand out to him.
✎ yandere! artist who suddenly faces a massive art block and cannot find it in himself to draw anything until you carelessly intrude into the art room that the school gifted to him and asked him whether the drawings in the room all belonged to him. he was so shocked that all he could muster was a tiny yes.
✎ yandere! artist who becomes so inspired by you that his art block is no more and he comes up with yet another masterpiece.
✎ yandere! artist who thanks you unwillingly for motivating him while you just laugh and ask him what you even did.
✎ yandere! artist who is offended that you forgot you intruded into his personal art space and starts insulting you with the tiniest hint of a blush on his cheeks. he's just a lil bit of a tsundere, just a lil.
✎ yandere! artist who becomes infatuated with you after you stand up to him and insult him back. he can't believe that there was such a person that would dare to talk back to the school's pride and joy!
✎ yandere! artist who starts to unconsciously draw you every time he picks up his pencil, decorating his notes and homework with beautifully sketched doodles of you and only you, becoming flustered as he realises what he did.
✎ yandere! artist who swallows his pride and gifts you a watercolour painting for valentine's day with a heavy blush on his cheeks, heart rate picking up as his hands graze yours, anxiously awaiting your reaction.
✎ yandere! artist who has his heart shattered into pieces as you address him as just a cool art guy. well, to be fair he didn't really talk to you that much but still! why won't you think of him as much as he thinks of you?!
✎ yandere! artist who starts talking and interacting with you more in an attempt to get you to fall for him, constantly gifting you with doodles of you and him in hopes that you will be more endeared by him.
✎ yandere! artist who becomes more and more infatuated as the two of you grow closer, occasionally taking pictures of you when you sleep in class and storing it in a secret folder dedicated to you. he can't help it, you're just too cute!
✎ yandere! artist who starts to solely paint, draw and even sculpt you, entering these pieces into competitions and obviously winning first place in all of them. sometimes even going as far as drawing you under him in sexual positions, later to be used as material to relieve him. his talent for art is just simply unmatched!
✎ yandere! artist who answers the reporters instantly whenever they ask who or where his main source of inspiration comes from.
✎ yandere! artist who waits for you to confess to him, unable to accept no as an answer. he'll play the waiting game, just don't make him wait too long, he'll get impatient and might do something you won't like.
✎ "my muse, do you like this drawing I made for you?"

"I think I..." No. 2 (No. 1 here)
Yes I'm using this image for a series of studies in different media. Might as well break my own heart as well as improve my technique. This is a very first attempt at watercolour pencils. I'm quite pleased.
1 and 2 are slightly different frames. See if you can tell the tiny differences between the microexpressions (assuming I've succeeded in capturing them)

“Now thank the good lordy above this absolute belter of a nook is still open in the wee hours of the day!”
The sudden blast of energy the newcomer radiated as his voice joyfully boomed through the tiny, cramped eatery was an immediate overdose for the overworked waitress. It was far too late (or rather, early, according to the man) for this sort of social interaction.
Check out Everything and Nothing by beans (with 6 e's and 6 a's) on AO3! Also check out my co-artist @gearbroth 's (!!!) art on their blog!

See below for bonus sketches and infodump!
It's been a while since I did a big art piece like this. It was fun, and it got me experimenting with watercolour pencils for the first time. I'm still learning the craft, and as much as I want my first ever watercolour painting to be perfect, it'll have to do. I'm satisfied with my attempt this time.
Although I do wish I could capture the painting in a higher resolution; phone camera and scanner couldn't cut it, everything is still a bit blurry. Here's the best I can take on my phone:
Tumblr media
It's also the original colours, before digital shenanigans were done to it. The work of a sleep deprived art wizard waving his silly little magic wand tool to get everything to look nicer.
The original concept for this mini-comic came to me while I was sitting under a tree, halfheartedly trying to study for my two exams the next day. I quickly sketched this:
Tumblr media
I honestly like the lineart of this sketch better than the final. What could be better than demo's sparkley anime eyes?
I was excited I finally came up with an idea after being high and dry for weeks. Basically my mental state:
Tumblr media
I was going to have Demo stride in, burst through that door with exuberant energy that filled the Spy's shitty dead-end cafe. And also showcase his traditional Scottish garb, which let me tell you is a whole rabbithole that I eagerly leapt into while researching for cultural accuracy. (I tend rely on real life references alot. Trying to branch out to stylised drawing would be cool.)
What happened next were these little sketches on post-it notes. I draw on them first before committing paper because...it's fun :)
Also in this case, this is a comic, so I could rearrange the drawings how I liked, so this was actually goated.
In the second image, see another case of liking the lineart more than the final. I had half a mind to keep that sketch of Spy and paint over it, but that wasn't watercolour paper, so no... :(
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was surprised how well the sketches turned out. Bloody hell, I'm an artistic genius! Now lets see how that translates to paint, eh? Well, you already know.
Some things to improve on, personally, is to make the lineart cleaner next time, so the paint doesn't mix with the pencil to make this weird greyish colour. Anatomy, always. Clothing folds is another big one. And finally, time management. Man, art is a passion, but damn does having too little time screw my art quality over. Well as they say, scarcity breeds innovation.
If you've made it this far, I am putting a virtual turtle (vurtle) in your hand, because turtles are cool, and you are too.
As a bonus bonus to this info-dump, have the original concept sketch while I was feeling out how to draw Demo in formal Scottish suit and kilt.
Tumblr media
THAT IS ALL.

Top Hat consoles Sunshine
This is the first time I've drawn anything to do with TUGS at all. It all started when I watched little snippets of the show on Youtube lately, though I enjoyed viewing the fanart here, more specifically humanized Hurt/Comfort sketches which inspired me to draw my own: This is a picture I did of my human versions of Top Hat and Sunshine on the stairs of Star Dock. I sketched it out first on paper, then outlined and coloured in on Paint. I used watercolour pencils for the stairs, then cleaned up, resized and merged the layers together using GIMP till I was satisfied with the end result. Here, they are sitting on the steps of Star Dock, and Top Hat has sat a crying Sunshine onto his knee and is now consoling him. The idea came when listening to snippets of TARDIS9's TUGS audio fanfic Confidence, in which the Z Stacks put Sunshine down so much he causes an accident. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOTss8… This could be an alternate scenario when Top Hat feels guilty about his attitude towards Sunshine after Captain Star tells the latter off, and he apologizes much earlier then is the one to comfort him, rather than Ten Cents. Well, I'm sure we can decide on your own scenarios, can't we?
I based the posing of Top Hat and Sunshine on an illustration by Anne Fine in her book Loudmouth Louis, which I read in primary school, in which the titular character is found crying by his mother following his failed attempts on a sponsored silence and she sits him on her knee and makes him feel better.
TUGS and its characters and locations belong to Robert D. Cardona, the late David Mitton and the long-defunct Clearwater Features but the human designs are mine. Please do not use or upload without asking me first.

Hey John! I love your repaints, especially the comparison shots of your first attempts vs the revisitations you've been doing lately. I wanted to ask -- how do you achieve such neat, graphic looking colors, especially for their eyes? Is it all acryllic or gouache? I've worked with watercolor pencil and pastel but can't achieve the clarity I want (might be inexperience though, ha!)
It's all acrylic paint. I post progress pics of how i paint my dolls on my Patreon. They're really unpolished and messy which is why I never publish them publicly but i'll post Neighthan's to give an example of how I use acrylic paint nowadays. Watercolour pencils I can never get the clarity and saturation without using a shit ton of sealant while acrylic paint I just spray a base layer and a top coat to protect the paint lol.

A Second Chance - Chapter 9 (LokiXOC)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the snap and losing her husband, Raven tries to settle on New Asgard with Thor and Valkyrie. But even after losing Loki twice before this time around doesn’t make it any easier. Until a variant of Loki shows up looking for her. Could this be the second chance they both need?
Warnings: Angst, Feels, Will these two ever stop arguing? Lets hope so, Loki and Raven are both touch starved
Chapter 9
Loki
We picked up the supplies she had listed in silence. At first, I had felt a sense of pride knowing I’d actually won an argument for once. But the longer the silence lingered, the more I worried about what was running through her head. As determined as she was to argue that she wasn’t like her old self or the Raven from my timeline she was doing a very convincing impression right now. Not that I’d tell her that unless I wanted to incur her wrath further. Raven parked the car amongst others before getting out. Not wanting to be bored in the car, much like the dog next door, I followed Raven into the giant building before us. Raven grabbed a cart before heading deeper inside where an array of groceries waited.
She had previously mentioned she wanted to do a full food shop now that I was staying. If she even wanted me to continue to stay after this. First, she added various fruits and vegetables to the cart, although I quickly removed the bell peppers when she wasn't looking. I don’t imagine I’d be a fan of those in any timeline. In the next aisle over Raven attempted to reach for something on the top shelf, her fingers just out of reach. Standing back with my arms folded, I wondered how long it would be before she swallowed her pride and asked for help.
Raven continued to try and reach for the item. She glanced down at the bottom shelf, likely debating whether it could take her weight if she used it as a step. Now was probably a good time to intervene before she hurt herself or broke something. Stepping closer and standing at her side, I made it clear I was there to help if she asked. “I understand you’re mad at me, but you can still ask for my help,” I told her. “I’ve got it,” she insisted. With that Raven put the weight of one foot on the shelf to give her the boost she needed to grab the item from the top shelf.
Luckily, she remained steady and gave me a smug smile as if to say, ‘told you so’. Taking the cart from her I followed her through the store, Raven keeping her hand on the end of the cart as if she didn’t trust me to operate it myself. The smell of freshly baked bread filled the air as Raven led us down the bakery aisle. Raven added a few things to the cart before pausing over an item as if debating to put it in the cart. “These were your...” she trailed off as she realised her mistake, “his favourites. Sorry.”
Taking the packet from her I read over the label before checking the contents. Pain au chocolat’s. Well, they didn’t look disgusting. I could probably try one even if it was to try and make her happy. Putting them in the cart, I glanced back at her. She had that look on her face that told me she was now beating herself up internally for making that previous mistake. It was the exact same look my Raven had, her lips pressed into a thin line as she avoided eye contact.
I wanted to tell her it was okay; she didn't have to worry about it. The mistake was harmless, I was neither upset nor mad at her. But she didn’t seem to be accepting of any comfort from me at the moment. “What else do we need?” I asked, trying to change the subject and get her to focus on something else. Raven blinked and glanced down at the list on her phone, silent for a few more seconds. “Pasta, meat," she listed. “Lead the way.”
Raven and I wandered up and down the aisles until the cart was full. Raven entered one last aisle, throwing a lined notepad and a pack of pens inside before she became distracted by the art supplies. I watched as she pondered over the sets of pencils, sketchbooks and watercolours. Now that I thought about it, I hadn’t seen any of her usual art supplies around the cottage. Not even a single worn-out pencil. Perhaps she didn’t have time for her hobby now. Or perhaps she had lost her muse. That was more likely with everything she had been through. I wanted to encourage her, but she’d see it as me pushing her, so I held my tongue once more.
With a soft shake of her head, Raven turned away from the sketchbooks and exited the aisle. Hesitating I wondered if I could just throw some things in without her noticing. If I’d had Midgardian currency, I would have brought them myself and surprised her later with them. Something that might make her smile again. I’d do anything to see her smile again. Even if that meant leaving her. Perhaps I was not the thing to make her happy anymore and if so, I would have to come to terms with that somehow.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once we got back to the cottage, I put away the groceries whilst Raven began to separate the other supplies we had brought for the village. Making a start on the fridge I noticed Raven had brought quite a few bars of chocolate, one of the brands I was even familiar with. Mobius had used chocolate as a bribe when he wanted me to do extra paperwork back at the TVA. After hearing Asgard didn’t have sweets or what his idea of sweets was he’d found an assortment of things for me to try. Judging by the amount of chocolate I guessed her Loki had had quite the sweet tooth.
Conversation between us had been mostly non-existent and frankly, I preferred her shouting at me to this silence. At least with her shouting, I knew where I stood, I knew what was going on in her head. And now we were at an impasse. I wasn’t going to apologise for what I had said earlier when it was so obvious I was right. And she clearly couldn’t stand the sight of me, let alone my presence. Maybe it would be best for her if I did leave. Maybe I’d go back to the TVA and reunite with Mobius. Even the TVA was better than being alone.
I sat at the table and cleared my throat to get her attention. Raven turned to me, waiting to see what I wanted. “Could we talk? About earlier? Please,” I asked. She relented and sat down opposite me; she still probably expected me to apologise. Her hands rested on the tabletop as she waited for me to say my piece. “I can’t help but feel like me being here isn’t helping you. That I’ve reopened wounds that had never truly healed. And it’s not just you that my presence seems to bother. I know the Asgardians and Valkyrie probably don’t want me here either-“
“What are you saying?” Raven asked, cutting me off. “Would it make you happier if I left?” “No!” Raven said quicker than I anticipated, "stay. Please.” I paused, having not expected her to say that. A soft smile spread across my face and relief filled me, knowing she wanted me to stay regardless of my earlier mistakes. I placed my hand over hers, hoping the act wasn’t too bold and she wouldn’t snatch her hand away. Raven remained still, her breath hitching at the skin-on-skin contact. I had to admit that something as small and innocent as this felt pleasant.
Perhaps I was craving human touch more than I had originally thought. Or maybe it was just her touch I wanted most. And whilst this wasn’t nearly enough to make up for the five years without human touch, it was still welcomed. Her skin was as soft and warm as I remembered, and I needed so much more. Reigning myself in, I removed my hand, putting them in my lap. “I would offer to cook tonight but I don’t think that would end very well,” I said with a short laugh. A hint of a smile played at the corner of her lips, and I felt my heart skip a beat. “It’s all right, you were a lousy cook in this universe too.”

My first ever attempt at watercolour. I feel like I've got the hang of coloured pencils, but this made me feel like a beginner again.
Also, I really miss Aaron and Eric. And seeing as, in my opinion, season 8 is completely fake, I'd really like to see them back again soon

Tumblr ate the first attempt of this post so let’s try again. This time with feeling
I have acquired the can of Citadel Munitorium Varnish I ordered and irl events have come and gone so let’s get back to Ingrid’s faceup
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My GOD the difference decent sealant makes to a face up is stark! Picks up pastels and watercolour pencils like a dream, and I don’t have to worry about them being dabbed off or dirtying the face.
There was a lot of learning happening throughout this process. Gotta practice being less heavy handed with black pencil when working on the eyes. Thinner acrylic paint lays flatter on a doll and doesn’t make the face up look chunky (my pet peeve). A shame I didn’t learn this before I painted the eyes to enhance the colours, oh whale.
Here she is with some gloss varnish on her lips and irises. Not perfect but definitely my best work yet! I’m so happy with how her casteless brand came out. We’re coming to the home stretch with this project and I’m so excited to see it all come together in the end

I love the array of peas we have in our native flora.
These are all from our walk today, so local to the Adelaide Hills. Bit of a doozy to identufy, but I can have a good guess on genus.
First and fourth are likely from Daviesia, the Bitter Peas. This genus has a lovely different colour peas, with most of the flowers quite small. But then one thing I will say about South Australia is that the beauty is there, you just need to look a little closer :D
Second pea is likely Eutaxia, a Mallee Pea. Mallee is a particular type of growth in our eucalypt forests. The trees have multiple trunks and are usually relatively short. You find mallee in the drier areas of South Australia (a lot of South Australia is dry). Today, however, we were in a taller woodland, so these peas are quite widespread in habitat, despite their name.
Third pea is likely a Red Parrot Pea, Dillwynia hispida. I know this because many, many years ago, I attempted a huge watercolour pencil painting of a mass of these. It joined my trail of WIPs and is shoeved in my art drawers. But I did stare at those peas long enough :D
Fifth pea is a Pultenaea, a Bush Pea. These are gorgeous and the bushes are literally covered in flowers.
This here is only an example of some of our local pea species. Things get really exciting when you branch into the Swainsonias (Sturt’s Desert Pea (my favourite flower :D )) - the Kennedias (Western Australian, but have the Coral Pea and the Black Coral Pea and a whole array of other beautiful vines) and the Hardenbergias (Native Wisteria).
So many inspiring flowers.
