Astrology observations 🩷

These are my first observations ever. I've studied astrology for quite a long time now, so I thought maybe I'll give it a try. 🩷

8th house suns / stelliums really experienced a traumatic upbringing/childhood and I feel like both parents are aloof and not very comforting

They also get along very well with scorpio suns/ scorpio placements or in general water placements

Do virgo suns and mars kiss very aggressively with tongue or is that just my experience 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Pisces rising men are the "pisces men" you all always talk about. They are the worst

They are stoners, they don't get their sh*t together. They kind of don't know how to deal with their sensitivity?? I only met aggressive, dominant and self absorbed pisces rising men.

This can also sometimes apply to pisces moon men. Especially paired with earth in their chart

I know a girl that was born in the evening of October 23rd. She insists on being a libra, even though in reality she's a scorpio sun. She miscalculated her sun sign and put 8am instead of 8pm (her birth time)

You absolutely cannot change her mind about that. She even downloaded co-star where it says that she's a scorpio sun. But she doesn't believe it. She even said " I don't care, I'm still a libra sun"

That's kind of a typical scorpio sun trait, they are very stubborn (because of their fixed nature)

Gemini risings can appear very fake. They aren't necessarily, but they're hardcore people pleasers, they need attention like the air they breathe. They wanna be involved in every friendship group possible. They love standing in the limelight

This could also be because of their leo ic (some gemini risings have leo ic, some have virgo ic) but the ones with leo ic were the star at home. Their parents always let them shine, they didn't have to dim their light at home. So now they're used to it.

If unevolved those leo ic's can be too pleased with themselves and even self-absorbed

Pisces suns cancer moons don't always have to be the "sweet innocent cry baby🥺" everyone makes of them. They can be loud (especially with a fire rising) they are extremely ambitious (because of their cardinal moon) and they go after whatever they want.

Gemini rising is a model placement. The long limbs, the bright eyes, the strong hair. MODELS

Also, there are no cusps in astrology. You're either one or another sign, but never a mixture of both. That is the exact reason for degrees in astrology!

You're either 29 degrees of any sign, or 0 degrees of the next.

If you feel more drawn to the next one, it could be because of personal placements in the next or prior sign or because of aspects that have the "vibe" of this sign.

But please let's eliminate cusps completely from astrology🩷

but i’m imagining JJ just got off work and he’s stopping by your house to say goodnight to his babygirl and the baby that has yet to be born. you and JJ are kneeling next to her, listening to her rant on and on about her day at pre-k. she goes on and on about her friends and what she had during snack time and then she gets personal. she starts talking about her friend emma and how emma’s mommy is pregnant just like you. and JJ has a strong feeling this conversation is going to take a turn. and it does. all the talking about her friend gets her thinking. “daddy, why don’t you ever sleep here with me and mommy?” and JJ just hits her with a “well, i’ve got my own place. there’s no need for me to stay here, babygirl.” that’s when she starts going on about how her friends parents sleep in the same house so why aren’t her parents doing the same (because she hasn’t really grasped the fact that her parents aren’t together) and JJ really doesn’t wanna keep this conversation going. he doesn’t feel like breaking his baby’s heart tonight. he’s also praying that she doesn’t ask how you got pregnant if you and him live in different houses. that’s just not a conversation he’s ready to have just yet (or ever)

Sunday is the day when your ex comes to pick up Lua for the week. You could call it co-parenting, having to take care of your child every two weeks. Well, your dachshund, not an actual baby human.

It's already complicated to co-parent a dog, so imagine a human. That would be like hell because you have enough of seeing your ex once a week.

You'd have to see him way more often if the child in question went to school and had parent meetings where both you and Seokjin would have to be present. You can't even agree on what type of food Lua should eat or how many treats she has the right to have in a day, so no, co-parenting an actual child with this man wouldn't be great at all.

"Okay, so here's the leash," you hand Seokjin the pink object. "You know she refuses to go outside without the pink leash, so forget about yours," you say bitterly.

Since you bought the pink leash with a matching collar for Lua, she simply doesn't go out with another one. You don't know if she can actually recognize colours, but you definitely can't trick her.

You've tried before with Seokjin when you were still together and nothing worked. Literally. You don't know what's up with this leash, but Lua is obsessed with it.

You won't lie, this boosts your ego, knowing you've chosen it for her. You're kind of into a competition with your ex, trying to prove you're the parent she prefers. You both know there's nobody she likes more because Lua can't be separated from you two. It's like she counts the days until she gets to be with her mom or her dad.

"I assure you I succeeded with the extendable one. She didn't even notice," Seokjin says, taking the leash from you and crouching down to Lua, attaching it to her collar.

You roll your eyes, resting your hands on your hips. It's not like you don't believe him, you do, but it would mean you've lost this battle and you hate losing against him.

"Lua is always distracted by the other dogs when she goes to the dog park," you rationalize, trying to prove she still likes the pink leash. "She will notice if you go for a walk."

Seokjin stands back up and passes a hand through his hair, making you hate him even more. He knows he's hot, he knows you find him hot and he uses it against you. This is so unfair of him.

"I don't think she minds that much anymore," he states, glancing down at Lua who looks between the two of you, not knowing who to focus on. "Honestly, the only one who really cares is you." Seokjin glances back at you, a shit-eating grin forming on his face.

You look offended for a second, scoffing as you roll your eyes once again. How could he say that? You know your dog and she is a stubborn little dachshund.

How are you the one who's really stubborn...?

As you don't respond, lost in your thoughts, Seokjin changes subject. "Anyway, don't worry, mama, we'll have a lot of fun," he smiles at the dog like he's addressing her. "And a lot of treats, right, Lua?" He laughs, getting out of your apartment with Lua's bag in hand.

"What? No, Jin-" He's already out when you snap out of your thoughts, making you groan out in frustration.

But you can't help the little smile drawing on your face.

Brain going brrrr about mafia lord namjoon again for my 3003939837th time of being an army,

only this namjoon uses his many galaries for money laundering but secretly just loves art for arts sake 🥺 he’s really just a sweetheart who wants nothing to do with the mafia life, he buys art that he thinks is greatly undervalued for twice the price and secretly sponsors his favorite artists. his parents think he’s hopeless, he sneezed over a bag of co*kane the last time that he went to check the families product. and he litterally almost shoots off his own foot any time he has a gun in his hands, he doesn’t drive as much for his own safety as the rest of the family he’s...not cut out for the mafia life to put it bluntly.

he’s not a monster (until you make him one)

his parents are getting onto him to get married, his father has long since stepped down as the head of the family, preferring to split his year vacationing in monaco and macau. But once or twice a year- namjoon’s parents do meet up with him just to make sure that namjoon’s not running the family drug empire into the ground.

it’s usually a painful meeting full of “why are you still living in an apartment and not a house” “you spend too much time on frivolous pursuits, you should take up something” “what, like murder?” “*insert weighty silence here*, but the thing they get on him the most about- is marriage.

namjoon’s never had much luck in the relationship department. hes had a few girlfriends and boyfriends through the years- then a few sugar babies here and there when he got tired of people pretending to only be into him for his money and would rather have that out-front. his parents Gesture to a waitress (our m/c) and say “you can choose any woman namjoon, even that one would do” as if on queue- the m/c spills a drink over a main table, but can’t get more than a simple apology out before the man starts shouting obscenities about does she know who he is and he’ll have her job for this.

namjoon doesn’t like mean people. it’s a pity that he has to deal with them often in his line of work.

So namjoon gets up, walks over to her and litterally punches the man out. ngl- i just love the idea of the waitstaff being all like “😅 we know who you are and we won’t call the cops” meanwhile namjoon’s never thrown a punch in his life, shakes his hand and almost cries. “if you wanted to impress me there are easier ways” are the first words she says to him. hands on her hips. and all of a sudden he feels like a schoolboy under a microscope.

“how much money would I need to give you to walk away with me right now” and she takes one look at his Rolex and decides based off of that that yeah- going home with this businessman who has her boss quieting in with a single look.

It’s kinda love at first sight- or if not first sight- maybe first drink. they quickly find a secondary location- a bar- and get waisted together. it’s not something the m/c’s done since she was young and desperate- getting drunk with Rich men. maybe the world hasn’t been kind to her- maybe she views namjoon only as a wallet but when she confesses it he just- shrugs. “you don’t seem disappointed with me yet- you can stay until you get judgemental. then you’re out”

“whats got you so certain that i’ll find you disappointing?” namjoon’s not used to people praising him and meaning it- or greeting him with such honesty either.

She becomes his paid girlfriend pretty quickly after that, maybe she never goes back to her apartment only to his, empty and full of art. she tries to sneak out in the morning only namjoon stops her. “i actually have a family lunch today, if you come i’ll make it worth your while”

the while- happens to be a brand new gyvanche dress and a matching pair of heels. namjoon (secretly) only brings her along because he knows with an outsider there- at least his family won’t talk crime and murder- it’s so painfully boring to him.

only…there’s something off about her. Something that reminds him maybe of a cat- or like one of his assassins, something that’s figuring him out subtly piece by peice when she watches him. she’s not judgmental of him for laying in bed all day, or for talking about art too often if anything, she seems almost to prefer it that way.

it doesn’t take her long to figure out that namjoon isn’t just a simple art dealer, that the detail that follows him and eventually her- isn’t just for protection from the paparazzi. But to Namjoon’s surprise, the first time his bodyguard jungkook takes out a would-be assailant, she doesn’t scream or act revolted at the sight of a dead body (namjoon might be soft but he’s also been conditioned for this since birth) simple peers down at it with a cool calculating eye.

The rest of the men are watching, and waiting for her to react, until she lifts her gaze to namjoon and raises a single eyebrow. and then one of namjoon’s men is apologizing and putting his coat down for her so that she can step over it without getting blood on her louis vitton pumps.

it’s okay, she says, “they’re already red-bottoms anyway”

it starts slowly from then, first she expresses an interest in seeing how the family business is run, then she starts to ask specifics about the money laundering and just how deep their connections run it the government as well as insurance about their police protection. the guards and henchmen quickly learn that she’s someone to respect and make happy- even before the boss (happy wife happy life and all that).

Namjoon’s used to having a more hands off approach to the crime side of things- but he wakes up sometimes to the smell of bleach on the air, wanders down to the kitchen to find the kitchen and his wife as ordinary and as in place as possible. (she earned the ring pretty much one month in, it was a fast engagement and an even faster wedding.

but even namjoon had to admit there was quite a-lot of work to be done and more important things to spend money on.

its not until a few months into their marriage that namjoon realizes that the responsibilities and headaches of being the kingpin of the mafia haven’t come to call on him recently. He hasn’t been asked to make an appearance in a while or check the security of any of their bases, and he hasn’t been called on to deal with any moles or unruly employees.

it’s almost as if...someone else has been taking control of them for him, like someones been doing the job he never wanted.

namjoon would be more upset only theres not much to complain about, he gets to walk art galleries every morning and purchase lavish paintings that he wants to have in his home or on his properties. he gets to go to the opera without any dignitaries trying to seek him out and make small talk. he knows that his wife...she must be behind it- but namjoon’s almost relived that she’s taken his job.

At night when they’re lying side by side, namjoon rubs her shoulders and confesses, “you’re a better mob boss than i ever was”

“Don’t sell yourself short joonie- it’s not that you couldn’t be- it’s that you don’t want to be.”

“you say that like becoming a kingpin is the same as becoming a professor- you could get into grad school if you only applied yourself more” namjoon mimics a nasal voice just to hear her laugh.

“okay- you might be right about that one- but at least becoming a queen-pin was less expensive than 5 years of education.”

he’s happy to live his life like he’s unaware that he’s no longer the man in control until one day...she doesn’t get home on time- they’d had plans for their first wedding anniversary- namjoon commissioned an impressionistic portrait of her as a present as well as a very small original art piece because she’s been encouraging him to try and make art of his own.

it’s not until he gets a call that makes his blood run cold. “boss...i think they’ve taken...our other boss”

the thing about namjoon is that he’s not a monster- unless you give him a reason to be one, and taking his wife away from him is certainly a reason to bring out the monster.

he finds her quicker than anyone expects- maybe because she’s charmed his men as much as she’s charmed him- and nothing ever did beat out loyalty like love. he finds her and she’s mostly unharmed, only...her enemy is someone namjoon hasn’t even heard off- even if according to his men they’ve been waging litteral war for the last 4 months.

imagine her saying “i told you he’d come” all weak from pain- maybe drawn up with some chains.

“a dog comes when called” her captor snears, gun shaking, but namjoon’s heart feels as cold as ice as he watches her- his strong beautiful wife in pain because of him, all because he couldn’t step up. she’s right- being a kingpin is all about motivation.

i wanna know about the ring composition meta!

Ok, so, I am a bit unhinged about this 😂 I quite literally froth over all the parallelism, the foreshadowing and chiastic structure of these books, so I decided to put it all in once place and write a meta ... but the trouble is, there is SO much ground to cover that I am having difficulty breaking it down. Here are some of the main snippets and a few of my favourite points -

If something is characterised by chiasmus it denotes a structure in which words/events/stories are repeated in reverse order. For a Harry Potter relevant and more visual representation, it looks something like this -

PS, CoS, PoA, GoF, OoTP, HBP, DH

or refer to this excellent little diagram -

The chiastic structure and ring composition in Harry Potter can be broken down in a few main points -

The beginning (PS) and end (DH) meet - a story in which the beginning and end are at one point.

The 'big turn' or central line and Parallel halves - If the beginning and end are going to meet, the story needs a 'big turn' (a 180 so to speak) at some point to divide it into two halves, with the first half of the story being the outgoing and the second half, the returning. In the case of the HP books this is done by creating seperate sections (PS, CoS, PoA) that are placed against one another (OoTP, HBP, DH) across a central dividing line (GoF), thus making these halves parallels of one another.

Here are a few of my favourite examples of the joined beginning and end

The Forest Again: Harry's first encounter with Voldemort takes place in the forbidden forest, having stumbled upon the dead unicorn. This first encounter is echoed in 'The Forest Again' in DH which is to be Harry's supposed last encounter with Voldermort.

Hagrid and Harry, together again (🥺): Hagrid brings baby Harry to Privet Drive on Sirius's motorcycle, Hagrid takes adult Harry away from Privet Drive on Sirius's motorcycle. Hagrid introduces Harry to the Wizarding World and is the one to tell him about Voldemort, Hagrid witnesses Harry's supposed death at the hands of Voldemort in The Forest Again and carry's his body to Hogwarts.

Parents at Christmas (this one has to be my favourite): Little Eleven year-old Harry sees his parents for the first time over the Christmas Holidays, full of hope and longing, he is fascinated and absolutely entranced by their living reflections in the Mirror of Erised. On Christmas Eve in DH, Adult Harry visits his parents graves for the first time and, perhaps also for the first time ever, grieves fully. He sees his would-be home for the first time and experiences the murders of his parents through Voldemorts memories.

The other Gryffindor champion (ahhhh another fav!): In PS, Dumbledore awards Neville Longbotton, the decisive last-minute points necessary for Gryffindor's victory over Slytherin for the House Championship. Similarly, in DH, it is Neville's contribution in the final hour, his killing of the serpent Nagini with the Sword of Gyrffindor, that takes Voldemort over to mortality, thus ensuring victory once more.

And some of the parallel halves

in CoS Harry takes a wrong turn in the floo network and ends up inside the vanishing cabinet at Borgin and Burkes where he spies on Draco Malfoy. In HBP, Harry once again finds himself spying on Draco Malfoy at Borgin and Burkes when he should be with the Weasleys, suspicious about what Draco is purchasing, which incidentally turns out to be, yep, the very same vanishing cabinet.

Both CoS and HBP have major plot points around the significance of a mysterious book, CoS - Tom Riddle's diary, HBP - the Half Blood Princes textbook.

In PoA Harry is introduced to his godfather, in OoTP (need I say more? 😭) he loses him.

In PoA we witness an authetnic prophecy made by Professor Trelawney, in OoTP we witness the authentic prophecy made by Professor Trelawney.

In PoA Snape is furious with Harry at the story's end, he is borderline unhinged because he suspects Sirius's escape has everything to do with Harry. in OoTP Harry is furious with Snape at the story's end, he is borderline irrational after Sirius's death for which he wants to believe Snape is responsible.

There are many, MANY more, but these will have to suffice for now, this is already turning into a thesis 😂

The last point where the ring composition in HP is concerned is -

The rings within the rings - What really takes this from interesting to remarkable is that not only is the series as a whole structured this way, but so is each individual book. Each and every book has its own joined beginnings and endings, an echoing midpoint and story turn, and chapters that echo one another across the story in axis. There are rings within the rings.

Some super quick examples of this are (it's important to note that the chapters mentioned below are almost always each-others actual numerological parallel within the book) -

First and last chapters of CoS (1-2, 17): Harry meets Dobby on his Birthday, Dobby gives him a dire warning and tries to imprison him to keep him away from Hogwarts. In the latter, Dobby's warnings come to fruition and Harry gives Dobby freedom.

Chapters 4 and 20 of PoA: The trio frets over Scabbers failing health, mysterious longevity and about the ministry's efforts to capture Sirius. In the latter chapter, the trio corner Sirius, learn of Scabbers real identity and the true reason behind his seemingly ill health.

Chapters 8 and 30 of GoF: Harry sits in the top box with Barty Crouch Jr, Ludo Bagman, top Ministry officials and the Malfoys a the Quidditch World Cup. In the latter chapter, Harry finds himself sitting in spectator-full courtroom to watch the trials of Barty Crouch Jr, Ludo Bagman and other former Death Eaters by top Ministry officials.

Fourth and Fourth last chapters of OoTP (4, 35): In what is Sirius's first appearance in this book, we see him fighting with and pulling a curtain over his mother, an insane member of the Black family. In what is Sirius's last appearance in this book, we see him fighting with and being sent behind a veil by his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange, an insane member of the Black Family.

Again, there are many, MANY more but I think I'll stop rambling and save them for the meta 😆 sorry for the extremely long winded answer here!!

I finished S2 of The Boys and I was so excited, I had to make a post about it💗. (Under the line because spoilers)

Billy had his redemption, Annie and Hughie are cute together, Frenchie and Kimiko are friends now and we finally got rid of that annoying stormfront, she was so toxic to my boy..

But I think John had to have a better ending. My boy only wanted to be with his child😭 and he can be a good father!

That moment of standing outside of the house because "Ryan is upset, he wanted to be alone" or that time when he told Ryan that vulnerable memory "I felt like drowning.. I cried" and hugging Ryan hhn his face was showing true blessed like, that man is touch starved and all and he deserves many hugs and he just loves his kid! Imagine what wholesome emotion it is to be loved by your kid🥺 or that time when they were practicing Ryan lasers in outside and kid got tired and frustrated and Johnny was like "it's ok.. it's ok" didn't even push on him to continue his training I mean he was like 'he should work on his powers' and all but he truly cares and loves his kids! Won't push them if they don't wanna! Like when Ryan got over whelmed and wanted to leave that restaurant, he just hugged him and flew away 🥺💗💗

Next scene of them is him hugging Ryan close

I mean, can you blame me if I say I truly see him as someone having baby-fever?? He's that type of definitely going for many kids, a house full of little kids running around and playing

He was on the edge of crying when he found out others took his child away

Or when in forest

It's one of many reasons why I ship him with Billy. Because 1. Imagine they co-parenting, because I can not be cruel enough that separate this man from his child 2. Billy is perfect partner for him💗 he's strong and brave, holds you when you fall apart and break down, stands for you when you feel like giving up, will love you for yourself, not for his own benefits. (Like stormfront).

This oc has been living rent free in my head for weeks now and I'm about to make that everybody's problem! More about her, the concept that spawned her, close ups, and more below the cut; image id in the alt text!

(Also, for the record: they're girlfriends your honor 🥰.)

The Concept: alright I'm not gonna actually copy-paste the entire concept i have for this story here because it's long, so y'all are getting the quick and dirty tl;dr version from the get go. You're welcome. Tl;Dr: Pitch Perfect 4 but it's a next gen movie focusing on Bella (Stacie's daughter) as a senior at Barden and her adventures co-leading the Bellas and Treblemakers because the college has had some budget cuts and decided they didn't need four acapella teams and smushed the two rival groups together. Shenanigans ensue. Also there's a co-protagonist, Molly, an incoming freshman who's excited to join the Bellas because shock! Amazement! Not at all predictably, she's a Legacy just like Bella! (And unlike the rest of the teams actually they're all new except for one of the Treblemakers who's Donald the Rapper's son.) In fact, not only is she a Bella Legacy, she's technically a Treblemaker Legacy through her dad; her arc centers on the mystery of who could possibly be her parents among the original/second gen Bellas and Treblemakers?? (Admittedly it's not so much a mystery as it is a fakeout cause the clues dropped are just ambiguous enough to cause confusion on whether she's Emily's daughter--presumably with Benji based on the love of Star Wars--but close with Beca and/or Jesse as an aunt and uncle, or if she's Beca and Jesse's daughter who spent time with Uncle Benji and/or Aunt Emily. The answer is the latter btw the girl loves juice pouches way too much to be anything else but a Swanson.) The answer is revealed at the very end after the Bellas and Treblemakers have finally learned to work together and have won Nationals. We finally get the cameos from the original stars as they come to congratulate the new kids, including Stacie (who's very very proud of her daughter going out with a win!) and, of course, an absolutely ecstatic Jesse with a pair of twin boys in tow, followed shortly (after a brief but forceful phonecall with an assistant over a run-over flashdrive of music) by Beca.

The Characters: I say characters cause while it's mostly miss Molly taking up this page, there are a couple secondary characters that can be mentioned here too.

Molly (Swanson, tho that wouldn't be revealed at first): one of our two main characters, she's a 19-year-old freshman at Barden going into Music Education (she's always wanted to follow in her parents' footsteps into music but she's not particularly keen on being a celebrity like they are; she'd rather nurture a love of music through teaching, like her parents did for her). She's a veritable ball of sunshine with a love of juice pouches and Star Wars, has a near-encyclopedic knowledge of every single John Hughes movie (though Ferris Bueller's Day Off is her personal favorite rather than the Breakfast Club, something that she and her father have weekly play-fights over), a very sarcastic and dry sense of humor, and a love of mashups and remixing (and also checkered or plaid-patterned flannels); she is truly a mix of both her parents. She's also super excited to be a Bella! She doesn't mention she's Legacy to anyone but Bella (who she meets at the club fair and immediately clicks with) because she wants to get in on her own merits (rather than by being THE Beca Effing Mitchell's daughter), though that little tidbit of information quickly becomes impossible to hide when the first group activity they perform is to harmonize When I'm Gone and Molly's fully moved to tears. 🥺 Also of note, Molly is a Mezzo, a bit higher than her mother's Alto.

Bella Conrad: our other main character (and likely the one we would see first), this is none other than the same baby Bella from PP3! She's all grown up now at 22 and finishing up her senior year at Barden, and currently the only Legacy Bella (until Molly comes along of course) as well as a co-captain of the group along with a couple other seniors. She's much more reserved compared to her outgoing mother or the energetic Molly, but she's sweet in her own way and always eager to lend a helping hand or guide a new Bella into the group. She's a math major, intending to get a job teaching high school level math (something she and Molly bond over quickly). She is a Soprano.

Julian (Donald's son): a secondary character, he's the leader of the Treblemakers and a close friend of Bella's. He makes up the third leg of the little Legacy Trio and happily welcomes Molly into the group, subtly encouraging Bella to make a move on her quickly growing crush on the other girl as well as working as a voice of reason among the turbulent Treble-Bella combined team. He's very level-headed and holds rank as the best beatboxer on the team. Besides being a beatboxer, he is also a Baritone.

oh erika you do indulge me !! 💖 this is going to get long and rambling and there's no way its going to be as articulate as it sound in my head, but i will never pass up an opportunity to talk about bo and vincent and their terrible sibling relationship.

this will be part timeline development, part headcanons, part something something "they need each other to survive"

i have less detailed thoughts about lester, and by my own admission i unfairly leave him out of a lot of what i write (over on @writing-good-vibes) just because i find it harder to figure out what his dynamic would be within the household.

(also i just want to add a small content warning. trudy and victor were not good parents and it was the 1970s, a lot of the in-universe attitudes towards bo and vincent that i'm going to mention aren't super nice. also, i am not an expert, so although i'm going to be talking about what likely was said about them in the 70s vs what we as audience can infer about them, none of this is conclusive and some of it isn't my place to start labelling or assuming, so i'll add link to a few other posts made by people that know way more than i do)

first things first, i've said it once and i'll say it again: bo needs vincent more than vincent needs bo !!

childhood

ever since they were kids, its been "bo and vincent". or "the twins". as much as i think trudy and victor instilled a heavy sense of competition between them (the whole "why can't you be more like your brother?" thing), i think on a day to day basis, it would be way easier to just lump them together and treat them as a joint package. people ask "How are the twins?" or "are the twins coming to so-and-so's birthday?" or "where have the twins got to?"

their "twin identity" is definitely effected by their looks. bo looks how vincent was "meant to", while vincent looks how bo feels. i can't imagine how it would be for vincent seeing bo all the time and thinking that is what he could have looked like, if he was the "main" twin. there's probably a lot of jealousy there that was fostered very early on, and their parents probably (definitely) didn't help with that.

being conjoined and self-soothing

their co-dependency began very early. in the womb, you might even say. they were probably separated because it was a low-risk surgery (this post explains in much better detail about how/why they would have been separated) although they obviously don't remember anything about their time being conjoined, i think it effected their ability to self-soothe. even after being separated it isn't that uncommon, especially in the 70s, to keep twins together in a crib and given that they we used to sleeping next to each other, i don't see why that wouldn't have continued. they're used to having the other twin close by. anyway, where was i going with this? oh yeah, i really think bo and vincent are terrible at self-soothing. they never needed too, as babies they had each other, so if one cried, the other one was there before anyone else. this is why, as they get older, neither has the ability to self-soothe, they aren't able to ground themselves properly. ironically they are very good at comforting others, but on the flip side they need someone (usually the other twin as their is literally no one else around) to be able to regulate their emotions.

my second ever sinclair twins fic was about how when bo is, essentially, disassociating, he needs time with vincent to soothe him. needs familiarity and comfort more than anything. this isn't a super frequent thing, maybe once a month one of them will have a bad spell and they'll sleep in the same bed. it's more difficult now they're adults, but they've been doing it since they were children (not going to think about them falling asleep together after one of bo's meltdowns and his wrists are still rubbed raw from the restraints) and they're not going to give it up any time soon. they usually don't talk about it because although deep down they both know how much they need the other, they don't really ever vocalise it. it's part of their bond, they don't actually talk, they just know.

unless, of course, they get into an argument and bo is quick to be as hurtful as possible, with vincent being just as cutting. honestly vince can hurt bo way more, because bo is nothing if not insecure.

neurodivergence

their early development definitely contributed to how they were both pegged against one another whilst also both being kind of written off as "defective" (an awful word but in the early 70s, a middle-class family having two, very young "problem children"? trudy and victor were probably thinking they'd got the short straw)

i think bo was the first to show signs of possible "behavioural problems. his "tantrums" were in all likelihood probably emotional meltdowns, which already singled him out as the "bad" twin, while vincent was considered the "good" twin.

i've talked before about how i think bo started speaking very late (me and @imbleedin-out have talked about him being being selectively mute). vincent is obviously also nonverbal, and i think a lot of the twins early binding was solidified in their communication. their twin talk (scientifically known as cryptophasia, apparently) lasted throughout their childhood and they still do it as adults. a mix of vocalisations and made up signs, as well as just certain looks, and they can understand each other as much as if they were speaking english.

despite being the favourite, i don't think vincent was treated perfectly either. both he and bo are neurodivergent and with vincent's physical limitations on top of that, he was probably under pressure to perform "better" (behaviourally and artistically(?)) to "make up" for his appearance.

(@aggravatetheaxe made an excellent post about this which i cannot find rn but will link as soon as i do) bo is the king of masking. he takes on the demeanour and attitude of whoever he is speaking to in order to appear more approachable or "normal". the only person he doesn't do this with is vincent. vincent sees his really personality because, well, he knows him better than anyone else anyway.

*as i talk about their relationship into adulthood, i am following my timeline headcanon, which y'all can read here if it is of interest to you)*

early adulthood

i think vincent went to college, and i think bo was really, really cut up about it. of course, they don't spend every waking moment together anyway, bo went to elementary/middle school without vince and they fall out often enough and like everyone else they just want to do their own thing sometimes, but they've never been really apart before. vincent is moving out of ambrose and bo doesn't know what to do.

he feels bad that he isn't totally happy for vincent to go off and live his own life, but he feels abandoned. vincent is the one person he can always rely on. no. matter. what.

after their parents died and taking over the town

i think after their parents died (in whatever way you want to interpret this happening) they had a period of relief. they no longer had these, ultimately, abusive people in their lives. they enjoyed a sense of freedom of like, "oh, it really is just us now!"

when either of them are angry they'll will bring up the competitiveness of their childhood (bo calling vince a "freak" and vince acknowledging that their parents "loved him more"), but on the whole they work much better as a unit. two brains are better than one and all that.

and, long story short, i think the town was more or less abandoned due to it being essentially a "company town" and once the mill shut down, everyone moved out.

with everyone else jumping ship and the twins having no where else to go as they still tried to maintain the museum, they would have become more reclusive than ever. lester had long since moved out and with just the two of them, they become more attached than ever. they don't want to talk to other people, because it's too much effort. bo has a breakdown at some point after their parents die and vincent picks up the pieces. this is when they start the *murdering*, almost as a coping mechanism like "we can't trust other people", which then turns into, "you know how we were both kind of failures our entire lives, lets try and pull off this bat-shit plan and then we'll know that we could do it all along".

lester

lester was born as an attempt to re-do the whole "having kids" thing, but ultimately trudy and victor just, weren't good parents?

lester is at least 5 years younger than the twins, and it shows. bo and vincent had their twin bond long before lester came along and although they love lester, he just doesn't... understand them, not like they do each other.

it used to annoy him, knowing that bo and vincent had each other and "left him out" (especially considering their parents didn't pay that much attention to him) but over time he came to accept it begrudgingly. now he has his own life away from ambrose it's a lot easier. one thing that does still annoy him though is their godgoddamn twin talk. they tend to forget that he's their, or that he doesn't understand because they can and will have intense conversation s and then just walk away, leaving lester very much hanging.

lester is willing to help the twins out, he does a lot of luring of course, but he doesn't live in town. honestly part of it is that he's always been more independent and partly because when the twins are in a bad mood (either independently or because of each other) he just can't handle the atmosphere in town. it's safer to stay out of their ways when they're "out of sorts".

on the whole i think, lester gets on better with bo and vincent when he's with just one of them at a time. they're easier to talk to when they're alone because they don't get side tracked by something the other one is doing. bo tries to get them all to eat dinner together on a somewhat regular basis but it's a nightmare to organise and lester gets bored watching the twins discuss/bicker about something he isn't involved in (will literally be something about meaningless like vincent accidently taping over an specific episode of star trek that bo is attached to, or bo borrowed vincent's shoes and has not yet cleaned the mud off of them). either way, lester find it way easier to talk to them when it is 1-on-1.

general co-dependency

returning to my first point. bo needs vincent more than vincent needs bo.

bo is unstable and scared of leaving town. controversial opinion, i know. of course he leaves town (to get supplies, to go to a local bar, etc.) but leaving permanently? no, he could never. he relies on vincent -- his twin, the one person who will always stay with him when everyone else leaves -- to ground him. relies on him to give him the affection he needs.

that's not to say vincent doesn't need bo. he does, but not as much as bo needs him. vincent needs bo to make himself feel better. bo gives him purpose, and not in the way you might think. vincent knows bo is hopeless without him, he knows he needs to be there or bo is going to fall apart.

in the film we see bo get angry at vincent for leaving town without him. yeah, he is angry, but i think most of all he's upset. he's scared. he's just been shot with a crossbow and he comes home and while he's trying to fix himself up, vincent comes home and bo realises that while he was getting shot, vincent was out there on his own. he could have been hurt and then what would bo do?

one of bo's biggest fears is being on his own, and he's angry with vincent for leaving him. not for leaving town, for leaving him. bo doesn't feel he's good enough for anyone (that's why his parents abused him, or why he can't keep a significant other) but selfishly he thinks vincent doesn't have a choice. they were born together, they're stuck together (literally and metaphorically).

vincent, much like bo, has major self esteem issues. the love he got from his parents, although it's more than they gave bo, was conditional. so long as he was "good" (or, the opposite of bo) they would love him. if he kept doing well with the wax working, they would love him. if he covered his face, maybe other people would love him too. none of that happened.

he's selfish too. bo is the only one who's never put a condition on his love. the only one who has ever needed vincent for who he was and not for who he was pretending to be. he hates when bo makes comments about his face, but he can put up with it from him because bo needs him.

he puts up with it because he knows that bo sees them as more or less the same. sure, bo knows he "got the looks" while vincent "got the talent", but he seems them as one and the same. they were the same for a few months and when they were separated, there was a split in them. looks and talent and personality were distributed between them to the point where he thinks that together they might even make a whole person.

ultimately, they need each other to survive. through their early circumstances (and later by their own choices) they've been backed into a corner where they can't survive outside of the ghost town they call home. they both provide something the other so desperately needs that they won't be parted, even if it would be for the best and even when they know they're dragging each other down. they're in it together, forever.

so i recently realised i could set the fic after In the moment we're lost and found so that's happening :D

everything that happened in 4x10 is the same except gwen's already queen and lancelot's still alive cos ain't nobody got time for that shit

the boy is found in the woods by a patrol like the day after freezing cold soaking wet and absolutely terrified

elyan's the only one he lets near him and to start with he lives in the next door room to him in the knight's corridor and has nightmares like every night

after a few nights of this they move into the smith's old house in the lower town that gwen's just left so the boy's not literally surrounded by the source of his trauma

the boy's still pretty terrified and el's pretty eehhhh about the knights and everything now anyway so lowkey quits and starts working part time at the forge bc the people they gave it to have just had a baby so it works out well

the boy is scared of the dark, water, silence and cold so the forge despite not being the most child friendly place you can think of is actually really good for him :D

poor elyan's going through a very confusing time bc he went through this trauma that's completely turned his view of arthur and the knights and literally everything upside down he and percival literally just confessed their feelings and kissed, he's barely thought about ever being a parent and KAZOINK suddenly he's got this kid who is dependent on him he's up every night with him he's worrying about how he can ever be as good a father as tom was even when he had to work so much of the time and elyan can afford not to do that but what if he lets the kid down anyway like he lets everyone down-

thankfully he has gwen and percival to help him as the boy starts to trust them too and el doesn't have to do this alone :')

gwen teaches the boy knitting and brings him cakes and she's the second person he becomes comfortable around

el's like to percy ik we weren't expecting this and you didn’t sign up for this and its ok if you don't want to be with me- and percy's like wellll you didn't sign up for this either maybe let's just see what happens?

percival's mother was a druid so he's familiar with some of their traditions and stuff some of which the boy remembers so that helps a bit and he's so gentle and def had younger sibs and even though the boy doesn't trust him to start with he does grow to

it doesn't happen officially in the fic but yeah later on percy adopts the boy too :D

the boy still gets overwhelmed when there's a lot of people and different noises so gwen makes him a matching hoodie thing to el to help block out some of the sound :D

he really likes hugs but only from elyan and even when he starts to make happy memories and isn't so frightened he doesn't really talk or smile much but no one ever bugs him about it <3

he doesn't remember very much of his life before and doesn't even remember his own name which is so sad but elyan tells him he can pick a new one for himself like el did himself and after elyan tells him about his dad he settles on thomas <3

i do have another fic set like four years later even tho the timelines are a bit shaky that's much more likely to get finished and is basically just pure fluff, magic's been legalised over the course of the last fic, elyan and percy are married and thomas has a little sister, percy's left the knights too and is the physician's (merlin's) assistant, and things are just wonderful 🥰

I love that Story talked to Beau about everything bc it gave them a good closure. But I feel like it would also be nice to see Azzie and Carter talking to each other, especially if Story was the one who insisted it. Azzie apologizing to Carter for using him in more ways than one especially in high school, and Carter apologizing to Azzie for ever pushing a relationship between them. Their duo is really such a strong one, and it would be so so so bad if it just goes down the drain. 🥺 They’re childhood besties after all. It would be so precious if Carter was one of Azzie’s baby’s godfather 🥺

No I love this, and was going to do something like this, and considering today, is Story and Carter day, it's perfect!! Azzie and Carter have such an odd past, they both truly wanted to be just friends. Az always was that girl who preferred guy friends over girlfriends, Owin and Joshua. She's headstrong, knows what she wants/likes, can come off cold, but she's not. She can seem to be a bit of a bitch, but she's just not an overly mushy person, until Beck. Carter and Az had to have a conversation, much like Story/Az and Story/Beau. Both Carter and Aster have a lot of apologizing to do. Did you see the Beck flower garden? Aster and Beck aren't finished with babies yet...

Carter sits on the bed next to Story as she sleeps with her hand on their son. The little baby turned towards his mother, and he brushes her hair out of her face with a wistful smile. Story only stirs for a moment before he returns back to his work.

He's created a pattern of how he works. Spend time working, spend a moment looking at the pair. They also nap better when he's in the room with him. His schedule while relaxed keeps him so enthralled he doesn't notice Aster staring at the trio from the doorway. Cupping her hand to the swell of her belly, before she sighs turning to leave.

Carter finally notices, and closes his laptop softly. Giving a kiss to both Story and Otto before trotting after his oldest friend. "Az," he whisper yells. Even though she hears him, she keeps walking forward. "Azzie!" his voice a bit louder but still she doesn't turn. "Aster Sapphire..."

"Do not full name me Carter Rory Baizen. What do you want?"

"To talk," he giggles at her. She shakes her head no and heads back to her own room. "No, you're talking to me."

"What is there to talk about?"

"Hmm...I could think of several things to talk about. Where would you like to start?"

"You got your princess, nothing more needs to be said," instead of going to her room, she changes course to go to the kitchen instead. "Quit following me Carter."

"No, we're going to talk."

"Why?"

"Because."

She stops and turns to glare at him. Her eyes squinted and beady as she looks over his face. "That cleared up nothing."

"You don't think we need to talk? I'm a dad, and you're becoming a mother...I thought we would share that together."

"You're not a dad, and that's all you've ever wanted was to share being parents together, and then when you couldn't have it you went for the younger version of me," Carter slowly nods his head, and goes to walk past her in the kitchen. "Don't walk away from me, when I'm talking to you. Carter Baizen!"

Going to the fridge he pulls out the almond milk before pouring a glass for Aster, seeing her almost drooling over the cold brew that sits in the fridge. With a roll of his eyes he pours the tiniest bit into her glass of almond milk and slides it over to her. "So you wanna talk now?" she only nods her head a bit.

"Good, so I can be brutally honest with my friend. I am not the biological father to Otto, but that's my son. So lets clear that up right now. As for the other comment, I deserved that."

"Damn right you do. You ruined a perfectly good friendship over and over again. First when you wouldn't stop pestering me about having sex, so I just gave in. Then in high school you didn't want other boys to talk to me, because I was yours. I wanted you as a friend, but you were so incessant of making us work as a couple. And then when you couldn't have me, you went after Story. She was seventeen Carter. Do you realize that? She didn't need you coming after her."

Carter takes a deep breath looking at his friend, and realizes that he owes her a lot more than an apology. Explanations more than anything. "Can I start from the beginning?"

She huffs out air taking a drink of the milk, and gags, "There's too much milk in my coffee."

"You're pregnant."

"I haven't had any coffee today. Please, and then I'll let you start from whatever beginning that you have."

Getting a new glass Carter pours mostly coffee in it, before throwing two packets of stevia to Aster, and she pours some milk into the glass. Taking a drink, she sighs at the taste. "Proceed, now."

"You've always been one of my best friends, and you know that. When my mom saw our friendship she tried to mold it into a relationship. We're old money, and you marry people to further your wealth, and to look good in front of the elite. A Drysdale was a perfect fit for me. Caroline was engaged to TJ Hammond by the time she was four. We see how that arrangement went. I let my mother get in the way of our friendship. She poisoned my mind, and all I wanted was to please her."

"So you never liked me like that?" Carter shakes his head no. "Not even a little bit?"

"You're attractive, I'll give you that, but that feeling? No, all I wanted was you in my life. Riding bikes, climbing trees, swimming, playing, coming over here to spend time with your family. I got a little bit of normalcy here. And when I went home it was always, 'Carter, have you made your move?' 'Carter, that girl will find someone else with a bigger dick if you don't act.' 'How hard is it just to get a girl to fall for your money, you're not that unattractive either?' Constantly, always in my ear. It was exhausting. I shouldn't have pushed us to have sex. I shouldn't have pushed you in high school. I knew then that you never saw me like that, because you were a bitch anytime I brought it up."

"So you move on to someone more vulnerable, and easier to land than me. You knew how much she crushed on you," Carter holds his stomach and laughs. Retrieving his own drink from the fridge before sitting down. "I'm glad you think this is funny."

"Do you honestly think what I feel for Story was just what my mom said? She hates me living here. Hates that I call another man's child my own. She thinks Story has trapped me. And I'm tired of feeling sorry for how I feel. I love her. I guess I always have, even when we were younger, but then...Az, I think you know deep down, what I felt for Story then was love. Who was it showing up to my door, flashing your lingerie? You saw me with your sister, and then you try to seduce me to make a point I see. Didn't work though did it? I closed the door right in your face, and you still can sit there and think that what I feel for your sister is this ploy from my mother to marry into the Drysdale family."

"She was seventeen, and in high school. What does it look like?" Carter reaches into his pocket and pulls out the rose necklace, leaving Aster to stare at it. "Is that?" he nods his head. "Why do you have that?"

"She gave it to me, before...our first time together. Her first time."

"You took both our virginities. Great. That's just great. Why do you carry around with you?"

She watches Carter's fingers slowly move over the white petals, staring at the flower that he gave to Story, and she gifted it right back. "Did she ever tell you what I told her about this flower? Whoever owns the rose, owns her heart. She gave it to me that day, and told me that I owned it. I have kept it since then. After we, uh, that night here it was a bittersweet reminder that she was mine. I see now that your anger is more than what I did to you, but what you think I did to your sister. Can you not tell how much I love her? There is nothing I wouldn't do for her or our son. If I would have been patient with you, and let us just be friends, we wouldn't be here. If I would have been patient with Story, she wouldn't have gone through what she went through."

"She wouldn't have Otto."

"She wouldn't. She would be a different woman. Do you see the changes in her?" Aster nods her head with tears in her eyes. "I know you two haven't had the best relationship. You envied how easy she made people gravitate towards her. Envied the time she took away from people you had first. She was spoiled."

"Still is."

"So are you," Carter laughs. "You all are. Spoiled in things yes, but spoiled in love and attention. Most of us that grew up in this world, didn't have one parent, much less both that doted on us the way yours did. Your mom and dad, even Harlan, enjoyed you guys. Your dad kept wanting more kids, because he loved you so much, that he hated when you got older. You don't realize how fortunate all of you are to have people like that in your corner. People that would do anything to make sure you're happy. That's what I want with her, what I thought I wanted with you, but that doesn't mean, that I don't want you happy."

"I am."

"No, you're not. I know you better than anyone, except Iris. You're not happy. You're putting on this front because you think that's what everyone wants to see. Just because Mickey is Eliana's father doesn't mean you have to let him walk all over you. He has to earn the right to be in your life and Eliana's life. Because you Az, are perfect. You will be an incredible mom, whether you choose to do this alone or you find someone better and worthy of you and her. Do you think that person is Mickey?" she shakes her head no. "Then why do you do this? You are a strong woman, you don't need a man to help you raise your daughter. You did this with Scott, you weren't happy with him. You even did this with fucking Chase Collins."

"You just hate him now, because of what happened between him and Story," for someone who always holds their temper in check, Carter loses it, and slams his fist on the counter.

"He was always a prick. Do you remember the rumors he started about you? And you want to hold him to a different standard because you knew him? He was a prick with you and he was the lowest form of asshole with her. But it started with you. I never liked him. You deserve so much more than the assholes you align yourself with, and I was your first asshole. I pressured you first, and I'm sorry."

She takes a long sip of her coffee, and watches him. Carter had changed, and she was too into her own life to notice it. He always had this soft and yet commanding presence, but now he was just soft. Grown up in a way that only time and experiences can change a man. "I'm sorry, too."

"You have nothing to be sorry for."

"I do. I have put all this blame for our friendship on you or Story. I claimed to be your best friend, and I never listened to your problems. It was always you listening, and I should have known what your parents were doing to you. I at the very least should have leant an ear for you to talk to. You didn't deserve that either. I know what Chase was saying about me, and even when you mentioned it, I didn't care, because I just...I don't know, I wanted you to hurt in the way that you hurt me. There was a switch with you, when your pushing to be in a relationship hit its peak, but I should have seen that there was no feelings behind it. That's all on me. I don't regret our friendship Carter, I just regret how neither of us could talk about this. We're shitty friends."

Carter laughs, and the monitor in his pocket hears a crying Otto, and then Story softly singing to him. He looks up at Aster with a smile. "She makes you happy doesn't she?"

"Yeah. So does he."

"You always saw yourself with a princess, and her being a mother to your kids, huh?" with a smile he gives her a nod.

"Ever since I saw your mom in that white dress. Her working less, and when she did it was from home, with you guys right next to her. She always became this idea in my head after that."

"We should have always known it was going to be the Princess of Boston, huh?" Carter turns and starts to head back to check on Story and Otto. "You ever gonna make her the Queen of Boston?"

"One of these days, if she'll have me."

"I think she's always had you, Carter. All of us were just a little bit slower to recognize that."

"Not her."

"Story Drysdale is a girl who knows what she wants. Looks like she got what she's always wanted."

With a crooked grin Carter responds with a, "Me, too," before heading back upstairs. "Lunch tomorrow with all of us Azzie!"

"I don't do diapers!"

"You better learn!"

So @whaleofatjme1920 said that she had a deep need for Maple Cohen BFF headcanons when I got back on my Sally Face rot. Elsie, honey, you've got a big storm coming, cos I've collected snippets about Maple and crafted her very own super deep back story!! (Tw: talks of pregnancy, birth, motherhood, babies)

I kinda see being best friends with Maple as equal to Daria and Jane, with you being Jane and Maple being Daria

You're both always trying to outdo each other on obscure songs and who can find the best one.

You don't really understand her thing for Chug, but he treats her well and makes her happy. Who are you to stand in the way of true love?

Now, for the angst part

Maple's parents have never been too accepting of Maple's relationship with Chug (and I think I got this idea from @beholdthemem , ages ago), so they kicked her out when you all graduated and Maple wanted to start working to save up for a place with Chug.

They kicked her out with only the clothes on her back since they had bought everything Maple had, and therefore wouldn't let her take anything.

Luckily, Chug's parents are absolutely angels and let Maple move in with Chug. But Maple... Went somewhere else in her head for a few months.

It wasn't long before Maple was pregnant and you were holding her hand at Planned Parenthood with her for her first ultrasound (Chug was pulling a double shift at work, one of many)

You felt a kind of sinking feeling when the doctor there said they needed Maple's medical records and family history. Maple had just pulled herself out of shock from her parents actions. You didn't want her to take another mental vacation on you.

So you ended up going with her to pick everything up from her parents mailbox after she arranged for them to leave it there when they left for work.

Neither of you had wanted to see them anyway.

You were part of Maple and Chug's small, courthouse wedding. You gave her away, and your heart swelled when you saw Chug seem to stand straighter, become a different man as he took Maple's hands at the official's desk. You realized later that you not only witnessed their wedding, but Chug's transformation into a man.

The pregnancy went smoothly, Maple hit every average benchmark pregnancy threw at her.

You got pretty good at knowing exactly what snack Maple and her baby needed and you and Chug started grocery shopping together for her to make sure nothing was forgotten.

Sometimes you two would bring Sal and Larry along after they smoked to get "premium" snacks for Maple, Chugs words (and Sal and Larry's), not yours. This resulted in a lot of these moments and subsequent crashes

When Maple went into labor, you were basically staying on the Cohen's living room floor. Maple's delivery date was kind of iffy, she could have gone at any moment.

Waiting through labor and delivery was... An ordeal. Chug was a wreck and the two of you swapped out sitting next to Maple and letting her break your hands until she was dilated enough for an epidural.

Things slowed down a little after that and you ended up sending a shocky Chug out to Todd's van with Sal and Larry. He came back still anxious, but visibly more relaxed.

Chug was in the delivery room for the actual moment, and after things were checked out, Chug came and got you.

Said something about "Soda needs to meet her godmom"

Soda? You chuckle to yourself as you follow Chug to Maple's bedside. The drugs must be pretty strong 😅

You teared up when you walked in and saw Maple, laying in her hospital bed, tired, but radiant as she cradled a small bundle to her.

She holds the bundle out to you and you awkwardly take it. How much pressure do I use in my grip? What if she cries? Or I drop her 😱?

And then Soda is in your arms and she's staring up at you with impossibly huge brown eyes. And it's love.

You know then that you'd walk through hell for this tiny being. If anyone hurt her, you'd drown the world in blood until you killed them.

In honesty, the fierce protective instinct scared you a little. You tried not to think about it

Being Soda's godmother was one of your proudest titles.

You saw her every day, changed your share of diapers, dealt with spit ups, seasonal colds, teething, etc

But it was a labor of love

Because you wouldn't trade the bedtime stories, playing pretend, learning words, wishing you hadn't taught her that word, the silly hairdos, macaroni portraits.

I think Soda would LOVE your chalk drawings

You basically learn how to be a mom with Maple.

One day, Maple comes over beside herself.

Her parents had found out about Soda, it's a small town, bound to happen.

They wanted to meet Soda, visit with Chug. But first they wanted to have a coffee date to talk with Maple.

You didn't exactly sit in on the meeting. But you were situated two tables away with the most sensitive hearing of your life, ready to intercede.

They wanted to apologize. They wanted Maple in their lives. They wanted to give Chug a fair chance. They wanted to know Soda.

You couldn't blame Maple for her suspicion while she hammered out details for a dinner at the apartment. Chug's parents had gifted the apartment to the couple and their child, and started an early retirement in upstate New York.

The two of you left deep in discussion, playing out possible scenarios, some good, some bad

You stopped by the pharmacy on the way to Maple's and Maple picked up some ointment the doctor had prescribed for Soda. You picked it up just before they closed. Coffee had taken longer than either of you had anticipated.

You two saw red and blue police lights outside the apartment building when you pulled up. Ash was standing just next to a barricade of police tape, cordoning off the apartment entryway.

"Ash, what's happening?" Maple asks and Ash can't look at her.

You touch Ash's wrist and her green eyes find yours. Ash's eyes remind you of a horse that's spooked, too much white showing.

"Ashley! What's going on?"

Ash's eyes slide away from you and you hear movement at the doors

The police are escorting someone out

He's covered in blood.

And then you're in a dark quiet place. Your last coherent thought was, "I'll never come back from this."
