The Power of Music

They say eyes are the window to the soul, I disagree. Music provides much more insight into someone’s inner feelings, struggles, triumphs, and failures. The lyrics tell the story of our lives. They tell of loves we have lost and loves we have found. Struggles we have survived and struggles that nearly killed us.

They speak to how we were raised; whether we were treated with compassion or cruelty. They reveal how our brains work, how they process, what makes us tick. Our wishes, our desires, our hopes and dreams - all tucked away within our musical choices.

There are songs that remind us of the old days, things that bring us hope for tomorrow, and moments to treasure today. The songs we put on repeat because they bring the feels. Songs that bring our favorite movies to life, or favorite TV shows, or our favorite stage plays. Songs that put our minds at ease or bring us closer to the Divine.

Songs passed down through generations, songs that speak to tradition, words that carry a history. Songs that carry a culture, that pass down a language, that keep alive a people who would otherwise be lost. There is power in music. Power to heal, to grieve, to bring joy, to bring life.
