Morgan x reid headcanons? (fluff and angst please?)

I'm so sorry this has been sitting my inbox for like 2 months at least. I miss doing headcanons so much, thank you!

Morgan takes it upon himself to make sure Spencer eats. Spencer can get so caught up in his own head that he will forget to do basic things. He has also reminded Spencer to use the bathroom but they both would never tell a soul about that.

Spencer in turn makes sure that Morgan doesn't work out too much. It's great that Morgan is into fitness, but Morgan can turn his stress into a workout session that lasts hours and leaves him dehydrated and drained.

Derek is always quick to say what is bothering him while Spencer doesn't like confrontation and will bottle everything up until he pops - crying and yelling over something Derek thinks is small but really was months in the making.

When Spencer has something he wants to communicate to Morgan but he doesn't know how to get his words out - he will write Morgan a letter. Morgan keeps all of the letters - with his favorite being a letter explaining how Spencer really wanted to go to a farm and pet a cow but he wants to make sure he isn't called childish or anything by wanting or doing that.

Finding time for date nights is hard for any working couple, but even harder for people who are always on call and can be home one day and then thousands of miles away from home the next, so Morgan and Spencer don't plan dates - they consider their dates to be anytime they can do something they enjoy together.

For being so in love, Derek and Spencer don't really have much in common - to combat this, Spencer reads about topics that Derek enjoys. Cars, construction, sports - Spencer might not be able to build anything or play a sport but he can still hold a conversation with Derek about it.

Derek makes a point to listen and learn what Spencer is talking about. Spencer loves teaching and sharing what he knows and he loves nothing more than when someone actually cares about what he has to say. Derek hangs onto every word that comes from Spencer's lips.

Derek has a no work talk at home rule. They are at the office enough that Spencer can talk about it there and if they have to talk about it at home, they go for a walk or sit on the patio. Spencer had a hard time with it at first but quickly found out it improved his mental health.

Spencer: obvious bisexual. definitely did something frisky with ethan and elle

JJ: bicurious. loves her husband but has had some suspicious thoughts about a SSA emily prentiss (she would never act on them tho, she loves her family)

Derek: also bicurious. woman lover but he is such a hoe that he has definitely considered getting down with a guy (also maybe reid has popped into his head a few times)

Emily: lesbian. obviously

Hotch: probably straight but he has had some gay thoughts that he doesnt know what to make of

Kate (Callaghan): i dont know whether it's because i'm a lesbian and i like having lesbian characters but kate is a lesbian in my eyes

Pre-Relationship

They become fast friends, they hang out a lot, they call each other at odd hours.

Reid gets Morgan into Star Trek by making him watch Deep Space Nine. Morgan would fight god for Captain Sisko.

They fall into bed sometime in season 1, and keep doing so on and off for years while their feelings brew.

Reid wakes up alive after the events of Amplification with Morgan by his bedside, and they have a conversation full off feelings. They become "official" here.

Newly Established

They can both cook; Reid looked after his mother and went to college young, Morgan's dad cooked, and Morgan followed his example.

Nobody proposes moving in together officially, Reid just spends less and less time at his apartment until the lease runs out. He mentions it to Morgan quite matter of factly, and Morgan shrugs, smiles, pulls his pretty boy in for a kiss. "Most of your books are here already."

A morning where they don't have to work goes like this: Morgan gets up early to go for a run with Clooney. By the time he's back, Reid is making is making them breakfast. They eat, and then shower together.

Morgan has a decent vinyl collection and likes to listen to them on chill evenings. Reid is a musical sponge, and if he gets a chance when they're on cases, will seek out record shops for something interesting or rare.

Their favourite takeout is Thai. Reid is one of those "white guy with spice tolerance" outliers.

Well Established

It takes some time for them to switch to using first names in private, Morgan takes significantly longer. It's not a problem, they've known and loved each other a long time with these names. Neither of them shorten each other's names.

Clooney is a K9 dropout, and highly trainable, and Reid teaches him a lot of silly tricks. He likes to show Clooney magic tricks.

One of the properties Morgan buys has a decrepid grand piano in it. He gets it restored for Reid, who's dabble with learning on and off. He plays the piano every day.

Morgan thinks Reid doesn't really believe in marriage as an institution, and is okay with that, they don't have to get married, even if they could. Reid proposes to Morgan one morning in shower.

Reid never gets an official autism dignosis, wanting the plausible deniability while working for the goverment. They talk about it. Morgan starts packing a weighted blanket in his go-bag for him (people often ask why his go back is so heavy).

The Future

They get married once it's legal, a simple ceremony but all their important people are there.

When they leave the BAU it's a joint decision. They're both ready for a new adventure, with less actual threat of bodily harm.

Morgan goes into property full time, flipping houses and rent-to-buying them to local people/families, instead of selling them to landlord who will end up pushing locals out of the area.

Reid goes into research/lecturing.

They move to Chicago to be closer to family. They move Diana to be close them them too.

As Reid gets older, he has to use a cane more. His migranes are mostly under control, but eventually he experiences migralepsy (migraine seizures). The dog they get after Clooney passes becomes Reid's service dog.

The Future (with kid)

Reid carries (he's trans). It's an unplanned pregnancy, but they go for it. Reid is terrible at being pregnant.

They have a daughter they name Sam after Morgan's dad (bc I chose this fanon name years before CM bothered to give Morgan's dad a canon name and I am sticking with it out of spite).

Morgan's sisters teach Reid to do Sam's hair.

Morgan is very involved when sam becomes a Girl Scout, and coaches her softball team.

Reid teaches her piano. They read together every day.

They struggle not to intefer when she's a teen and it becomes apparent the girl she keeps bringing home is her first crush.

They both try so hard to be present, devoted dads that they can can fall into helicopter parent tendencies.

OKAY hear me out

so luke with whistle stims/tics, right? yes. but, they get worse/more frequent with stress (totally not self projecting here)

so spencer and derek start associating his whistle with luke being stressed/having a hard time, and they start whistling little tunes and bits of songs back to him—nothing too long or disruptive, but often songs that luke likes listening to or just generally happy tunes—until he starts picking up on them and whistling them back

and after that, whenever luke starts to get stressed out, he starts whistling the songs and they help him calm down/ground him and remind him to take a step back to breathe

ok this is a bit complicated so bare with me

spence is a medical doctor but still works at the bau. the bau have to get like an annual medical test and one of them is a blood test.

moreid centric so reid is the one drawing the blood and morgan's scared of them. (derek said that he's gonna pass out and spence said things like i can take your blood when you're unconciouss") emily, jj, and everyone is watching and laughing but derek's nearly having a panic attack. spence then ordered everyone to get out and calm him down. he stopped mocking him and just being so gentle with him like he handle a lil kid who's afraid of needle.

this is kinda complicated and i just taught ab it in my daydreams lol it would mean a lot if you can write it for me, you dont have to though. luv ur writings, ty!!

"Spencer," As if the lack of professionality in using Spencer's first name wasn't evidence enough that Derek was panicking, his eyes were wide and intense too, locked on the needle in Spencer's hand, "I'm not kidding. I'm gonna pass out."

"It doesn't matter," Spencer shrugged, a soft smirk on his lips as he watched the usually cool, calm, and collected officer fall apart, "I can still draw blood even if you're unconscious."

Derek's eyes snapped shut, a grimace taking over his expression. And suddenly, it didn't seem funny. The shallow breathing that the man exhibited no longer seemed like grandiose dramatics put on for entertainment purposes, to get a few laughs. Instead they seemed real, ragged, and desperate.

The tightening of his muscles didn't seem like an effort to show them off, instead, his chest was stiff and his arms were pressed up against the wall behind him, holding on for dear life.

The way he'd scrambled up and out of the chair wasn't Morgan making Reid's job more difficult, it was Reid making Morgan's life more difficult.

Spencer finally snapped out of his discerning trance, hearing JJ's voice from across the room, "Oh, come on, you big baby. It's just a shot."

"Yeah," Penelope giggled, "I've seen seven year-olds take that more gracefully than you."

"Jack was better than this at three." Hotch piped up, an amused, seldom-seen smirk on his face.

"Guys," Reid spoke up, his voice much less light and airy than before, now grounded and strong, "Enough."

He didn't think he'd ever spoken with that much raw authority to his coworkers before. Sure, he'd given orders, he'd interrogated suspects, but he'd never silenced his team with two words before.

"Reid, we were-"

"Just give me a minute alone with him." Spencer glanced back at Derek, who was tracking everyone's movements with anxious eyes.

His coworkers, blissfully unaware and unrelating to the raw panic radiating off of Derek, shared a confused look. One by one, they stood, faces much more serious than when they'd been taunting Derek only moments ago. A few even mumbled out a mediocre apology to Spencer, as if he was the one that needed it.

"Derek," Spencer mirrored the man's former unprofessionalism, his voice soft and gentle as he set the needle down, stepping forwards a few steps, "I'm sorry for teasing you."

"It's stupid," Derek gritted out, his chest still heaving, "Hotch said- I'm in my thirties."

"It's not stupid," Spencer shook his head, walking closer and closer to Derek, "It's a phobia. I'm sorry I didn't realize before, I thought you were messing around."

"Don't apologize," Derek shook his head, screwing his eyes shut again, "I just- I can't do this."

"You have to," Spencer grimaced, finally standing in front of Derek, "I'm sorry, I wish there was some other alternative."

"I can't," Derek urged, "You don't understand, my brain won't let me-"

"I do understand." Spencer admitted, "Phobias can be crippling. And any situation seems better than this one right now. But this is mandatory, you have to complete these tests if you want to keep working here. If you don't do it now, you'll have to do it later, and I probably won't be the one administering the shot. Can I please help you with it today? I don't want you to have to do this again."

Spencer swore that he'd never seen Derek look closer to tears without actually crying. His chin was wobbling, his eyes glassy as his fingers clenched into fists to ground himself.

"I'll go slow," Spencer crooned, keeping his voice sweet and soothing, "Or- or fast, if that would help. You call the shots here- sorry, bad phrasing. But you know what I mean, you're in charge. Just because you need to complete the end goal doesn't mean you can't dictate the process."

"Nothing you can do will distract me."

"Actually," Spencer strode back to his desk, picking up an envelope from inside of his drawer, "I think these will keep you entertained for hours."

"What-"

"Baby pictures." Spencer pulled out a thick stack of photos, a slight blush on his face as he looked at the one on the top, "My mom sent them to me the other day. I kept meaning to get them out of here so that no one else could see them, but I guess it's good that I didn't."

"You can't possibly think that a few pictures of you as a kid are gonna distract me from a needle in my arm."

"I'm wearing a tie at age six," Spencer brandished the photo in question, one eyebrow raised, "You just told me the other day that you would bet money that I came out of my mom with a sweater vest on. I thought you'd want to see them. But if you don't want to," Spencer teasingly slipped the photos back into the envelope, heading back for his desk, "I can just-"

"Give me the pictures." Derek sighed, shakily peeling himself off of the wall he'd been leaning against, "Damn you and your stupid little baby glasses."

"I was six," Spencer chuckled, "I wasn't a baby."

"You're still a baby," Derek scoffed, "You're afraid of the dark."

"You're afraid of needles." Spencer deadpanned, leading Derek to his seat, "Did you forget what this was about?"

"Right," Derek sighed, his breath trembling in his throat, "Sorry, I-"

"Don't be sorry," Spencer shushed him, "That means the pictures worked. You were distracted, and you forgot about the shot. Keep looking, I'm pretty sure there's one in there of me reading War and Peace at far too young an age."

"Anything before sixty is far too young to read War and Peace," Derek grumbled, sifting through the photos in his lap "But, uh.. Thanks, Spencer."

Spencer smiled softly, the expression barely discernable as he rolled up the sleeve of Derek's t-shirt, "Just don't tell anyone else about the pictures."

"I can't promise that," Derek laughed incredulously, brandishing a picture of Spencer standing outside his university, two feet shorter and ten years younger than all of the other students there, "I'm keeping this one."

Moreid Head Cannons: How They Get Together

Spencer gets Shirley Temples whenever the team goes out and he isn't having alcohol and Derek teases him about it until he tries one and now he always orders them for him and Spencer whenever they arrive at a bar or restaurant or anything.

It takes a while for Derek to admit it but he tells Spencer is makes him feel like a fancy lady when he drinks them and he loves it, cuz he never really had a chance to be softer and feminine growing up so sometimes little things like this make him feel better and feel more in touch with his feminine side

Spencer and Derek go out on fancy lady outings now where they go to lunch and get Shirley Temples and go shopping and gossip, just the two of them

As much as he loves Penelope, he likes doing this with Spencer as like a guy thing they do together just the two of them

Derek always feels so much pressure to be strong and masculine when he's out with the girls , and never was able to be completely relaxed like Spencer was when they crashed girls night, so they kept this a secret

Eventually the two of them decide to have a sleepover, something neither one of the ever had the chance to do growing up, and they stay up all night eating ice cream and doing online quizzes and eventually fall asleep in their sleeping bags in Spencers living room watching legally blonde

Derek take Spencer home for one of his sister's birthdays and decided he wants to do one of their fancy lady outings with his sisters, so they all pile into his car and go out to get Shirley temples and spend the whole afternoon gossiping and having a great time

His sisters end up giving both him and Spencer makeovers when they go shopping, and come home and make the boys do a whole skin care routine and they try a ton of new hair styles on Reid.

Derek actually really loves the way Spence looks with some of his hair pulled back with little butterfly clips

Spence even starts wearing a little bit of makeup sometimes after their trip back to Chicago

After the trip and how comfortable and expressive he felt spending time with Spencer and his sisters, he finally feels comfortable enough to come out to Spencer as gay

Reid essentially comes out too, telling Derek he's bisexual, but everyone basically already knew that after he came back from seeing Ethan with huge hickies down his neck a few years ago in Louisiana, he just handn't put it into words exactly

After their mutual coming out, their fancy lady outings start to get a little bit more and more like dates, and the sleep overs start to get more frequent

Derek even spent a few days in a row one weekend at Spencer's apartment because they really didn't want to spend any time apart anymore

Before they part that weekend, Spencer suggests that Derek and he think about possibly moving in together at some point in the future to which Derek says it's probably a bad idea, confusing Spencer, but he rushes out and back to his own apartment

it takes a while for Derek to be okay going on their outings again, but when he and Spencer finally go out again, he musters up the courage before they order their drinks to tell Spencer that the reason he stopped going on their outings and told him that it was a bad idea to move in together was that he has feelings for him and didn't want to make Spence uncomfortable with that because he just wanted to be friends

Spencer kinda laughs at the confession and tells Derek that he thought their little outings had already turned into dates and that he has feelings for him too.

They end up ordering their drinks eventually and Derek is very nervous since this is the first date he has consciously been on with a guy and Spencer measures him that he's very good at dating and that was even without trying

god what is it about criminal minds that makes me incapable of having a single persistent headcanon about the characters? other than reid being queer I keep switching between him being bi and gay, cis and trans, experienced and a virgin, super involved in the queer community and not at all. emily is sometimes a lesbian and in love with jj and sometimes bi or straight and lowkey has chemistry with hotch and morgan. morgan is sometimes bi and sometimes I ship moreid and sometimes not. garcia is always queer but sometimes I love to see her with morgan but most times it's just platonic. I read a garcia/morgan/reid fic once and love the idea of that. I read a hotch/reid fic once and loved the idea of that. I read a hotch/rossi fic once and loved etc etc etc. I love the idea of reid and elle having lowkey been sleeping together. I love the idea of reid and ethan being exes. of reid and gideon's son being exes. I know people ship reid and luke and although I've not met luke yet I'm sure I will agree

but mostly, I just always headcanon them all as a family. platonic, but where the love and chemistry is so good that I can see all kinds of combinations

i just saw a tiktok abt "you're in the wind, i'm in the water. nobody's son, nobody's daughter" as a trans person from both perspectives feeling like a disappointment as all genders and you best believe i'm going to moreid/ralvez the fuck out of this.
