{Concept art for a spider-girl Yuu someone brought up, but since I don't wanna fully put my own image of spider Yuu in case others imagined them differently, this is heavily based more on astv instead of just a general spider-man/woman Yuu}

TW: Mention of death {Yuu's Canon Event}

{In case you can't tell I added a bit of spider-Gwen [ghost-spider] to this Yuu [with the slight colored hair, losing their best friend and soon father, also this Yuu has a more Micky inspired suit since their old one got torn from their canon event and Micky felt bad so he made one for them that goes with the waiter outfits.}

I can honestly see the staff at House of Mouse along with the guest {mainly the great seven} being pretty concerned and curious of this Yuu's world/dimension since I'd be pretty understandable this Yuu has trust issues not because their villains/magical people but because they don't want to possibly lose them like how they lost their Peter/Gwen/father.

And to go deeper on the topic of spider-Yuu {mainly with canon events and more connected to the atsv plot} I like to image that before arriving at Twisted Wonderland and working at House of Mouse they just went through their canon event of losing their dimensions Peter/Gwen or father.

Along with that, since this Yuu is from another dimension and arrived in a different world {twst} they'd technically be an anomaly, since it's theorized/hinted that the spider society can only go to dimensions/worlds WITH a spider-man/woman in them. So they may tend to glitch a lot {which is canonically very painful} due to their body's genes not being from that place unless the more powerful/magical guest or staff at NRC and House Of Mouse placed a spell that prevents them from glitching.

Bonus: I believe maybe the NRC boys {especially the dorm leaders and our boy Jamil} would be a little jealous of Yuu's Peter/Gwen since they were the first ones to get close to/love Yuu, but feel bad for being jealous since you know, Yuu's first friend/lover is dead {rip Peter/Gwen but I prefer to make Peter's death this Yuu's canon event since Gwen already went through it in most other worlds}. Idia would most definitely be jealous of Yuu's Ganke though lol.

{Anyway here's Yuu's Canon event, similar to spider-Gwen's canon event since I'd just get sadder thinking of more brutal ideas for Yuu's Peter}

{So to explain this in short, Yuu's Peter was similar to Gwen's Peter and turned himself into a giant lizard, so they fight without Yuu knowing it's him and then the giant rubble crushes him and turns him back into his human form, Yuu hears his slow breaths {since he's literally dieing from being crushed} and realizes it's him but got trapped in rubble as well so they had to cut their hair off with the sharpest rock/shard of glass they could find so that's why their hair looks so messy and choppy at the bottom due to the panic and want to find and save her friend Peter, but he dies in their arms obviously. So in memory of him they keep their hair the same and never let it grow longer since they feel like they'd lose him again in a different way {+they dyed their hair his favorite color at the end, or just your favorite color in general}. Tragic.}

I'm feeling angsty 🥀💔😏.

{Honestly bonus points if Yuu was destined to die like Gwen in other dimension versions of them, everyone is going to freak out.}

In light of the current WGA and SAG AFTRA Strikes still going strong at well over 100 days at this point, I thought that it would be interesting to cover another strike by creative folk in Hollywood: the 1941 Disney Animators Strike.

For context, by 1941 the other major animation studios in Hollywood by this point had unionised, following the first being the 1937 Fleischer Studios Strike which produced the first union contracts, while over at Disney the studio remained a firm holdout.

However, due to a series of incidents, including Disney not following through on the promise to share profits from the phenomenally successful Snow White (trade papers at the time reported that Disney’s studio was going to distribute an estimated 20% of Snow White’s earnings among the studio’s 800 employees, the actual bonuses those artists received were equal to or less than what they had previously received for the studio’s short films, with some Snow White animators, including Art Babbitt, did not receive any bonuses for their work), the alienating behaviour of Gunther Lessing (the lawyer responsible for Disney copyrighting Micky Mouse), and other factors (such as Disney's management style consisting of playing favourites, stealing credit and so on) understandably led to tensions rising within the company.

Things came to a head in 1941, when Art Babbitt, his highest-paid animator, resigned as president of the Disney company union to join the Animation Guild. After Disney fired Art in retaliation three days later, the strike was on.

The strike went on for five weeks, and destroyed the somewhat communal atmosphere some felt that the studio had amongst its staff at the time. Support came in the form of labour organiser Herbert Sorrell, a former boxer, who had successfully lead some other Hollywood strikes, including one with the Screen Actors Guild in the mid-1940s that brought him into conflict with their president, a man by the name of Ronald Reagan.

A notable incident involving Sorrell came when rumours of hired goons were coming to break the strike, leading to Sorrell send a gang of Lockheed aircraft mechanics with monkey wrenches to guard the tents of the striking animators which were pitched on the land across from the Disney Studio. It turned out to be merely a rumor and no damage was done, although Walt did reportedly almost get into a fight with Art

Eventually, FDR ended up having to send a federal negotiator to resolve the dispute, where they found in favour of the strikers in every issue. Disney, for his part, reportedly had been nearing a mental breakdown over the animators' "betrayal" left on a tour of Latin America to try and ease tensions.

Disney never forgave the strikers for the strike, and would maintain for years that rather than it being due to any mismanagement on his part, it was due to the animators being infiltrated by communists. Specifically, Herbert Sorrell, whom Disney would later report to the House of Un-American Activities Committee in 1947 as a communist infiltrator who was trying to turn his employees against him.

Y'know, so he learned nothing.

I've tracked him down beforehand by He-Man to superman(crossover comic) to bugs bunny(crossover comic) to micky mouse(roger rabbit) to tantor(character from tarzan that appeared in house of mouse) to tarzan(the disney movie) to a toyota carolla(80s commercial, not sure this counts since it was a different tarzan) to miku(toyota corolla commercial). Do cars count? Does the idea of tarzan count or does it have to be the specific one? Why did I spend 10 minutes trying to find a somewhat long miku number?

The script for this short comic has been sitting in my WIPs for months. I've delayed due to a mixture of a lack of motivation and some fear of backlash for producing reylo content. . But... If I'm not on social media to be as cringe as my heart desires, what's even the point? . I wouldn't say that I am a Reylo Shipper; but now that it is canon, I have to admit that I am somewhat compelled by the ship. Namely, what the hell would their relationship be like? Yuu and who they would most likely be based on

Note: this is just my interpretation of Yuu

I realized while thinking of Alice in wonderland that if Yuu were to be based off a Disney character, it would probably be Yuu. I just think in the story and their character just fit more, someone from a normal world with no magic coming to a fantasy world ( a lot of other Disney properties already have magic present despite the mc only really interacting with it later, like how Belle’s world has magic but her first interaction was when she met the beast). Not to mention, the first people they befriend are from the dorm based on the queen of hearts and they first interact with that dorm in book 1. This also makes sense because we also see inspirations form that one micky mouse short “Through the looking glass” when he has a dream of going to a wonderland esk world and interacts with cards after falling asleep reading the book Alice in wonderland. Not to mention, Yuu’s room resembles mickey's room in the same short 

However, Yuu also has some serious connection to micky, again, the first book could be more of a reference to the short I just mentioned and the dorm itself is most likely based on the house from “Lonesome Ghosts”, as seen from the decrepit nature of the dorm and the three ghost that haunt it. Not to mention, through each book, Yuu has a dream about the movie surrounding the book (Alice and wonderland and Heartslabyul , savanaclaw and scar, ect) possibly referencing Mickey's dream. 

Also, I have been thinking of who Grim could be based on. I’m still not sure tbh, in terms of him being associated with Yuu, we already have a Cheshire cat esk character. Granted, twst characters and their inspirations can be lose at times so... 🤷 

Like, he kinda looks like live action Cheshire 

Also, Alice has a cat

granted, Alice's cat doesn't go with her and the only thing connecting them is a person who goes to a different world, similar eye colors, and the fact that they have a bow.

Also, I keep thinking about the wizard from “the Sorcerers Apprentice” from Fantasia and I remembers Ambrose and I thought he could be a reference. although, personality wise, he is most likely based on merlin.

we find ourselves in the Wild West of space, where outlaws and criminals can do whatever the hell they want while those supposedly in charge look the other way to protect their own interests

Captain Leonore “Leo” Callisto of the Siren leads a small crew doing various gigs and odd jobs for people all around the sector. yknow, smuggling shit, stealing shit, selling stolen or rare shit, etc

but after the team’s spy, Zeya (who Leo was showing favoritism to for No Particular Reason) takes off with a shitton of money after a spat with Leo, the rest of the crew, no longer trusting Leo’s judgement, decides to ditch her as well, save 2 loyal but very inexperienced members: engineer Gabriola “Gabi” Franco and the crew’s muscle Euna Li

okay so that’s the context, now let’s get to the plot

while searching for work on Space Kijiji, Leo comes upon an offer from a rich, eccentric art collector calling themself the Curator, offering a large money reward to steal a statuette from the House of Dyonas, a powerful and wealthy family on the planet Vihelda that passes along wispy purple telekinesis powers from generation to generation

the statuette is one of the two Gemini Statuettes, which are believed to depict a pair of twins in the Dyonas family from a few generations ago, but the House Head, Andlyn Dyonas, refuses to sell, so the most logical thing to do is to pay someone to steal it, as one does

strapped for cash, Leo accepts, even tho the House of Dyonas is notoriously hard to get into (she has a few tricks up her sleeve ofc, including getting one of the Dyonas House Heirs, the runaway Illiana, to help her)

BUT as she and her tiny ragtag crew embark on this quest, they quickly learn that they’re not the only ones with their eyes on this prize, and ~someone~ on a quest to sabotage them always seems to be a step ahead 👀

and then the Accident™ happened in which she lost her arm, and she was swindled into buying a super expensive cybernetic prosthesis bc she thought it would enhance her performance with the circus

but since it took “too long” for her to recover, the circus managers replaced her without even telling her :( so she pretty much joined the Sirens to pay off her medical bills rip

Illiana has always been better than Kalen at mastering their inherited powers, which has caused ~tension~ between the sisters over who gets to be the next House Head when their father dies

so Kalen did *stuff* to secure her position and forced Illiana to go on the run and hide out in what is essentially Space Las Vegas under an alias

she gets roped into the heist to help them get into the House of Dyonas, although she is very reluctant to go back there (but is very tired of washing dishes in some dingy Space Vegas bar)

she will get her loyalties tested in more ways than one <3

Doctor XXX

The diabolical Dr. XXX, also known as ‘the Mad Doctor,’ is a malevolent sadist who haunted the nightmares of Mickey Mouse.  Dr. XXX channeled his bloodlust into science, conducting all manner of ghoulish experiments and manifesting a bevy of monstrous hybrid creatures.  He dognapped Mickey’s trusted pooch, Pluto, as part of a bent scheme to attached the dog’s head to the body of a chicken… merely to determine if the end product would bark like a dog or balk like a chicken.  

Micky raced after the villain hoping to save Pluto’s life.  He pursued Dr. XXX to his sinister layer where Mickey was captured and subjected to the mad doctor’s deadly devices.  Just as he was about to be bisected into countless pieces, Mickey woke up to discover the whole sordid affair was simply a nightmare and that he and Pluto were both safe and sound in their bed.   Whew!

Dr. XXX first appeared in the 1933 animated short, ‘The Mad Doctor,’ and was voiced by actor Allan Watson.

This character is Public Domain, and originally unnamed. I've named them Vinnie Violinist, and decided that they use they/them pronouns, but you can give them any name or pronouns you want...you can even decide they're Micky Mouse...after January 1st 2024 lol.
