June, 4 (Morning) Devotion
“The kindness and love of God our Saviour.”
Titus 3:4
How sweet it is to behold the Saviour communing with his own beloved people! There can be nothing more delightful than, by the Divine Spirit, to be led into this fertile field of delight. Let the mind for an instant consider the history of the Redeemer’s love, and a thousand enchanting acts of affection will suggest themselves, all of which have had for their design the weaving of the heart into Christ, and the intertwisting of the thoughts and emotions of the renewed soul with the mind of Jesus. When we meditate upon this amazing love, and behold the all-glorious Kinsman of the Church endowing her with all his ancient wealth, our souls may well faint for joy. Who is he that can endure such a weight of love? That partial sense of it which the Holy Spirit is sometimes pleased to afford, is more than the soul can contain; how transporting must be a complete view of it! When the soul shall have understanding to discern all the Saviour’s gifts, wisdom wherewith to estimate them, and time in which to meditate upon them, such as the world to come will afford us, we shall then commune with Jesus in a nearer manner than at present. But who can imagine the sweetness of such fellowship? It must be one of the things which have not entered into the heart of man, but which God hath prepared for them that love him. Oh, to burst open the door of our Joseph’s granaries, and see the plenty which he hath stored up for us! This will overwhelm us with love. By faith we see, as in a glass darkly, the reflected image of his unbounded treasures, but when we shall actually see the heavenly things themselves, with our own eyes, how deep will be the stream of fellowship in which our soul shall bathe itself! Till then our loudest sonnets shall be reserved for our loving benefactor, Jesus Christ our Lord, whose love to us is wonderful, passing the love of women.

Adam
The potter works punch out a hollow, pinch, form pinch the nose, step back, drive a hole each side for air. The mouth - no, the mouth comes later. PInch out ears, two swipes for eyes, two hollows. Rudimentary hair - a scratching.
Moving on: punch out the chest, two huge slabs two hollows to be filled with carefully formed heart & lungs & guts in their perfect hidden detail. And further down. Scrawny bum. Hollow it. Slap on some thighs, fill them in, muscle, bone, muscle. Add a lump of clay where they meet, blend the seams. Then the lower legs. Muscle, bone, muscle. Ten toes, taking joy in the forming, each toe individual, each getting smaller. Ten fingers. A whole body, under the potter's eyes.
He stands back, admires his work. He sees it is good.
And finally: the mouth. Formed open, ready to receive. Formed ready to breathe.
He stoops beside his creation, bends low, breathes.
And the clay breathes the eyes crack the dirt heart beats
when Adam looks on his God

It is not the bee's touching of the flower that gathers honey, but her abiding for a time upon the flower that draws out the sweet. It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most, that will prove the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian.

2024 APRIL 02 Easter Tuesday
"I'm not far from you; I am the God that is so close (cf. Dt 4,7), the word in your mouth and in your heart. And what could be closer to man than his heart? It was there, deep within, that all those who found me discovered me. Because what is outside only concerns sight. My works are real, and yet remain fragile and passing; While I, their creator, I live deep in pure hearts."

Quiet sounds
I am so in touch
With my spirit
I am well
I take good care
Of myself
God is a state of mind
What is next for me?
I am bleeding for more
I feel Null or blank today
Sadness
It’s OK to be sad sometimes

We will find time for just about anything, except when it comes to finding time to spend with God. The time you make for this world is time wasted, while the time spent with God is time that counts for eternity.
In a world where most movies, TV shows, and even cartoons, are desensitizing us to the dangers of sin, we must be extremely careful with what we see. Not to mention, you are directly, or indirectly, supporting immoral companies to keep doing what they’re doing by purchasing and downloading their content.
We must make time for our growth in holiness. We must make time to read and study His Word. We are told we must “meditate day and night” on His Word and His laws (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2). We must make time for Him! How could we expect to spend eternity in heaven if we are not willing to spend what little time we have on this earth?
Stop wasting time on things that will have no bearing on eternity. You think anyone in heaven cares about your favorite streaming show? You think anyone in heaven cares about your rank in a video game? Stop acting like a child (1 Corinthians 13:11) and walk in a manner worthy of your calling (Ephesians 4:1): that is, a Christian—a follower of Christ.
Stop living for yourself. Stop living for your flesh and desires.
Start living for God.

I was Bribed
I remember memorizing many scripture verses as a child. We were “bribed” by our Sunday School teachers to learn and quote them by heart. If we did, we’d receive prizes and rewards. Right or wrong, it worked for me, because I know those scriptures from memory, and I live by them still today. For any crisis, concern, or fear, one will pop to my mind, and I will be comforted. Joshua 1:8 says “This…

"If you surrender yourself, and do not rush, but meditate on the Word of God, you will find prayer forming in your heart. It is a prayer inspired by the Holy Spirit, a prayer that God will be pleased to hear." - John R. Rice
