I often feel like I'm alone in head-canonizing Captain America (Steve Rogers) as being somewhere on the ace spectrum. At least in the MCU.

The man only shows explicit romantic/sexual interest in two people, one of whom he ends up married to via time travel shenanigans. Peggy and Sharon Carter.

The whole on the ace spectrum, maybe demisexual/romantic maybe gray-ace who am I to say, thing still works even if you include Bucky and Natasha into the list of people Steven is attracted to.

That's only four people, only two of which he actually even attempts starting anything romantic/sexual with.

I can't remember a single other individual Steve's interested in like that in any of the other movies.

I vaguely remember him being kind of jealous of Bucky getting dates so easily back in the 40s. Even then he was very clearly not jealous because he was attracted to the girls Bucky was picking up, but instead jealous how easy it was for Bucky to get dates.

I feel like the fact that Steve doesn't date anyone, or show interest in anyone once he starts touring as part of the Captain America SO show. Which you know he was propositioned about by at least a few women. Is also kind of telling. He only has eyes for Peggy at that point.

I honestly head canon him as being gray-ace and only ever experiencing attraction very rarely. That he'd always wanted to find someone to have a relationship with, because that was just part of life in the 40s, but he'd never actually felt attracted to anyone himself until he met Peggy.

That's why he was so stuck on Peggy, even after waking up in the future, and experiencing her die of old age when he wasn't even a decade past his own prime. Why he was incapable of moving on, even when he started feeling attraction to other people.

Peggy was magical to him. More than his first love, Peggy was the chance of normalcy to a man who'd never had the luck of being normal. He was sickly Steven Grant Rogers who was unlikely to live to age 40 without some kind of illness killing him, and then he was Steve Rogers Captain America the Super Soldier.

Peggy saw potential in Steve even when he was short and sickly Steve, and I think that's what made him fall in love with her.

MCU and Asexuality , Natasha Romanof and the female body

So, it is still Pride Month and I’m still an Asexual female Marvel fan.

The past time I talk about the miss oportunity that is Steve Rogers for the canon sexual diversity, on specific for the asexual spectrum, now I want to talk about the mess that is the writting of the gray sexuality of Natasha Romanof on the MCU

If I don’t understand wrong the Black Widow has that name because her spy abilities includes seduce men (or woman, wherever) and killed them on the sexual act. Also there are other encarnation of the character where she is in fact a widow who loses her husband and is looking for revenge. Anyway, on the MCU this is unclear, what whe know by fact is that Natasha was a dangerous woman who did “horrible” things (maybe she kills men that she seduce, maybe she gets hospitals on fire, whe never know) that SHIELD recluted and reformed.

Could Natasha be asexual? Is there anithing on the movies that could tell us this? Maybe.

On the Avengers movie Natasha claim that love is for children, that love is not for her that she only had debts with people. And on CA winter soldier she looks pretty confortable separating the phisical affection and the emotions. Until this point the strongs relathion ships of Natasha were Clint and Steve with whose she make strong bonds that could or not be sexual but never “romantic” or at least not that se could claimed like that.

This characterization is amazing because give us an aromantic headcanon that is so weird to see on any character. Is she aromantic - asexual? probably.

But oh our lucky, how fool we were to believed that Marvel could posibly leave a female character with no romantic interest.

On Age of Ultron we had the Brutasha, and for the first quarter of the movie everybody were telling that Bruce is “diferent” that he and Natasha are so in love and basically is a “he is the choosen one” narrative that is so agresive by the aromantic - asexual comunity. That you would be “fixed” by the rignt person is so dangerouse and aphobic.

And to be clear, I’m not rambling because my headcanon isn’t canon (I make other posts where I ramble, i need it, okey) no, I’m mad because the discourse is agresive, it could be execute way more better with out including the “fixed” discourse.

BUT... BUT...

The part that is really interesting is the actuall conversation between Natasha and Bruce about their relathion ship.

Bruce is totally unconfortable beacuse he CANNOT had romatic relationships because he CANNOT had sex, because is fucking dangerous. For Bruce it is imposible to separate both things.

In response Natasha said that it doesn’t matter, that she doesn’t want to had sex, that sex is not an important thig for her, and that is the unwanted sexual relathion ship that makes her want to had a just romantic relathion ship with Bruce.

There, just there we had a so close asexual canon. I’m not jocking I was almost criying when she was talking.

BUT...

there are so many buts here.

Natasha said that she doesn’t want to had sexual intercouse because she doesn’t had a matrix. That she was sterilized agains her will.

Wich has NO SENCE. And make the discourse not just aphobic, but also misoginist because it impliest that women only want to had sex because reproduction? that at some point we get pleasure by our matrix? WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?

BUT...

If we can accept that MCU doesn’t really know how (a)sexuality works, is it so hard to accept that they neither know how female body works?

On retrospective Natasha said that love is for children, her interest on the romantic life of Steve, her needs of platonic relathion ships and her flirting actitud could be signs of compensation. What she said on AoU when she talks to Banner is that she can’t had sexual entercouse, that she had pasted for a process agains her will that damage her on a way that she couldn’t had sex but she could fake it, for spy porpuse; because the evil spy organization doesn’t want that she would be able to created bonds with people.

There is a process that could make that, but is not the sterilization it is the ablation. It had sence that the “black widow organization” cut the clitoris of the children that they training to be super spies. It is an evil and cold thing to do.

And this same evil asociation could brainwash at the little children to make them believed that the clitoris is the only way to had sexual pleasure, so that they are not deserved of sexual relation ships and that their bodies are weapons and only weapons, that love and relathionships are not for their.

On this scenario, it has sence for Natasha to get easy hooked on a relathionship with a man that coudn´t had sexual relathionships for a phisical condition. Because she saw his as an equal.

The diference is that Bruce wants the sexual and romantic relathionships and we as an audience are not really convice that Natasha wants or not, or if she feel or not, or even we are not even shure if she knows the diference between her matrix and her clitoris. With is just BAD WRITING, becuase, believe me, we, the women, know the diference.
